Does anyone else get P.O`d (annoyed) when players who are contributing nothing to the club either because of long term injury or non selection have their pictures plastered all over twitter, or magazines, papers etc. having a whale of a time, all smiles and champagne and dressed to the nines.

Sometimes they are not playing through no fault of their own, for example Borini, or maybe because they are crap (Enrique), but either way I like my injured/ non selected players to be mean, moody and angry !

Recovering players should be either in the gym or resting at home to ensure earliest and best return. Non selected players should be dedicating their every waking hour to improving their game so as non selection isn`t possible.

I am sure we can get a cheaper Club Clown than £60K a week Enrique !

Flanno is an example of how it should be done, under the radar !

I don't care what they do with their personal time and money as long as it befitting of the apt behaviour expected of them. I prefer not to see Jose Enrique's new nail polish though.

Cant tell you how much i hate this attitude that somehow footballers should always be thinking about us, the fans, in everything they do, and that we control their lives.

I bet you'd call for someones contract to be terminated if they were seen eating with john terry at a restaurant maybe a bit too close to stamford bridge.

It's going to be a interesting summer, I just hope where happy 1st of September, god knows who we will get, I just hope coutinho has got some decent players to play alongside or he will be off next.

Im getting abit ticked off with seeing fans moan about signing ings and milner. A prem proven striker who possibly will be on low wages than borini/lambert who has pace and can score. Milner who gets into the city squad yes big wages but has the mental attitude and exp we lack. Yes there will be signing on bonuses ect but much better than spending money the club don't have on players who may not work.im not sure about other fans but lfc fans seem the biggest moaners in the whole world it drives me mad.

Great post Dorset both in my eyes would be great signings for the club.

Agree15 Disagree9

01 Jun 2015 22:11:58
Proven?
Mate Michu, Benteke scored twice as much in their 1st seasons at crap clubs. Don't mean your amazing!!
U reckon any top tier Club in CL wants Ings & Milner,, only for British/homegrown player quota mate? City came 2nd in Prem and want better to challenge next year and no qualms if Miner goes but u think he's good?

Agree5 Disagree17

01 Jun 2015 22:17:35
My only worry about Milner is can he play week in week out he hasen't done at city but besides that I think both would be good signings

Agree9 Disagree3

01 Jun 2015 22:45:13
I just don't see the point in Ings (or Milner either really) as neither solves a problem we have. They're both fine players, but Ings isn't good enough to be first choice striker on a regular basis for us I don't feel and Milner isn't really needed per se.

Again, I think both are good players, but like Lallana and Markovic before them, I just don't think either are necessary.

Agree5 Disagree8

02 Jun 2015 00:13:19
So why are city fans not happy about him leaving. They love him up there. Its refreshing to see a player reject more money for playing time and not play in champs league. He wants to come and so does ings.

Agree4 Disagree3

02 Jun 2015 00:20:12
I'm sorry, but Milner walks straight into our midfield, no question for me. Experience, proven prem ability.
Ings isn't meant to be the first striker on the teamsheet (assuming there is one). He should be an improvement on what we have coming off the bench at the moment though surely? And he won't cost the earth. Assuming they happen, it will actually be nice to have players who could have gone elsewhere but chose us for a change!

Agree8 Disagree3

02 Jun 2015 03:34:25
^^ spot on. Ppl on here always moan about players not playing for the shirt but for the money instead. Here we have a top player in Milner choosing us over huge money offered by city. That's exactly what Liverpool need in the squad, a little passion.
And ings is free, a good back up and wants to play for us.
Most importantly both have prem experience so shouldn't need a settling in period. Unless Rodgers stays then he'll make them both look rubbish

Agree4 Disagree0

02 Jun 2015 03:42:15
Milner yes , ings no - he didn't have the mental strength to take a penalty to try and help his team stay up, borini scored a similar amount of goals at sunderland, so why do we need ings? if we get strikers in we need quality not 'could do okay' levels.

Agree2 Disagree5

02 Jun 2015 04:19:47
Try to show a hint of respect bash.

And actually several top tier clubs in the champions league want Milner and some are rumored to want Ings. Get a grip.
Arsenal is interested and city wanted him to stay. Those not top tier?

Agree8 Disagree0

02 Jun 2015 05:30:40
Sorry but I don't agree. Both are solid players in their own right but that is it. Ings will score the odd goal but will struggle to even break double figures. Milner will always give 100% but this past season has shown we need added quality. We got squad depth last summer so this summer should be about quality. Neither have what it takes to take us drom also rans to top 4 which is our supposed aim. Its just shows BR's small club mentality in my opinion and is just another reason why BR has to go.

Agree1 Disagree9

02 Jun 2015 06:44:33
Sorry Dorset Red, how often has that premiership proven thing turned out to be a big pile of horse crap, especially for us? We should be buying the highest quality players we can get, regardless of what league they play in. Or better yet, promoting from within our academy. We have many talented young players here whom Brendan simply doesn't trust to play.

Question for the Reds. Change managers now de boer/laudrup or keep Rodgers and see it until January and see if things are still going bad and possibly get Klopp/ancelotti?

Believable0 Unbelievable13

01 Jun 2015 22:24:18
Any change in manager has to be with a view to the long term, we haven't even tried to approach Klopp. The worst he could do is say no i'm having a holiday.

Even if it isn't Klopp anyone else we appoint should be given the job with long term success and building in mind. So let's hope its neither Big Sam or Bradley haha.

If you are going to prolly fire him after six months, might as well fire him now and give the new manager time to get things right instead postponing the inevitable

01 Jun 2015 21:13:09
A lot of media reporting that Milner is set to sign for us having reached a agreement with a large signing on fee and an increased salary from his current City contract. Worst of all, he is signing because he is guaranteed to be first choice. I find it incredible how we think signing an ageing player on a £100k + contract and offering a guaranteed starting spot is a good deal, especially seeing as though he's actually not as good as people think he is. Once his let's go what does he become? Another poor signing I think hopefully I am proved wrong.

I also don't understand the signing of Ings, why sign a player like him for £5m when we already have Origi and Sinclair at the club? It makes no sense whatsoever.

God knows what else we will waste money on this summer. We always have the money but we never seem to be able to spent it well. Hopefully if Rodgers' gets sacked this week, our interest in those players will disappear.

I think you may be underestimating Milner, and 29 is not old for a modern footballer, especially when considering that Milner has probably only averaged 25 starts a season since joining City. I'm saying his legs are a long way from being shot

I agree with you about our young talent, but ask yourself are they ready now? Are we ready to go into a pivotal season without Gerrard? And lastly ask yourself if 5 million a year in wages is such bad business when shane long ( all due respect to shane, who is an honest player) can command an 11m transfer fee and 2m a year wages?

We need Milner, he is a talented committed all round midfield presence, with genuine leadership qualities and great EPL and CL experience. In the absence of Gerrard and without the ability or finance to attract a players of vidal's quality he is our best bet

01 Jun 2015 22:27:36
Ok a lot of people on here dissing Milner well I have played footy with the lad on more then one occasion and all I can say is the lad is a first rate class footballer. He has quick feet and was mentored by joe hart when he was at leeds. I would love to see him in a red shirt he would be an excellent signing for us he is a player who can change a game. Has good tactical awareness. The beauty of getting him although he is 28 he hasn't played much football recently at City and he hasn't any injury issues. If we get him, you'll see what I'm telling you!

Agree8 Disagree0

01 Jun 2015 23:58:53
I'd make him captain as well

Agree0 Disagree4

02 Jun 2015 03:50:17
He'd be a good addition. he's probably been in city's top 3 or 4 players this year. a team which finished higher than us. don't know where this notion comes from about him being not good enough. he's also versatile enough to play wing back or centre back which no doubt BR will try at some stage.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jun 2015 05:43:20
Ings has had one fair season in the PL scoring 11 goals. Am sorry but for a striker that isn't exactly setting the world alight. Similar figures to Lambert and how did that work out. Milner cannot get into thefirst team at City on a regular basis but more to the point he cannot get into a poor England side and is only a sub. There has to be a reason for this. There is he is 100% commitment but only 50% quality. Both represent further evidence of our ever present failure to aim high enough in the transfer market and offer further evidence of BR's small club mentality

Agree2 Disagree9

02 Jun 2015 08:36:14
So Milner is taking up the role of Glen Johnson from next season?

There was some discussion the other day about what is a marquee signing.
I reckon it's when a player lines up up the other team and away fans think shoot we better watch him he s dangerous makes things happen.creates something out of nothing, consistent, produces in the big games. We need two maybe three players like this in the summer.miller would be a welcome addition he s a workhorse bit like kuyt in lots of ways.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

01 Jun 2015 22:16:32

Agree9 Disagree1

01 Jun 2015 23:34:08
Seems to me that he just wants to play.

He could have sat on the bench at City or Arsenal and earned a bundle.

Let's hope he stays fit and injury free and agrees to terms that give him an incentive to achieve results.

Agree2 Disagree0

01 Jun 2015 20:20:39
Hey Eds; I accept it's widely know that LFC want Borini to look for a new club. Just my own view but i think the kid deserves some credit for saying he wants to stay and fight for his place when so many others can't wait to get out the door.
Our summer targets don't lift spirits either after a dismal season. Ings??? Benteke???? sorry but they are not of Liverpool standard.

Believable8 Unbelievable4

01 Jun 2015 23:31:18
Think the fact borini is on 90grand a week and no other club would pay him that may be why he "wants to fight for his place "

Agree1 Disagree7

02 Jun 2015 03:38:35
Who the f thought it a good idea to give him 90k a week?

Agree0 Disagree3

02 Jun 2015 11:18:37
Borini is on nowhere near 90 k , that is just a straight up lie. The kid is still on the same money when first signed by rodgers, he hasn't signed any new deals and he is on tops 35 000 a week and rejected double that from QPR in hope BR who bought him would give him a real chance but he was so wrong.

Agree4 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - and rejected a pay rise from Sunderland to move there permanently too.}

02 Jun 2015 11:43:33
wow, that is exactly the type of player who desrves his chances, not Balotelli the clown. BR is seriously clueless and very very much out his depth.

Agree2 Disagree0

01 Jun 2015 19:29:04
I don't get all this negativity regarding Klopp's comments. He is taking a break big deal what does that have to do with Liverpool, we don't even know if he was even being considered by FSG so I fail to see why everyone now assumes it must mean Rodgers is staying. There are plenty of managers out there better than Rodgers that could really take us forward as long as some of the other problems behind the scenes are sorted out (which I'm sure is the aim of the review). For me yes I would love Klopp but it's not the end of the world if we can't get him, I mean Big Sam's looking for a job (joke before you all slaughter me). Not sure what his English is like as they seem to want someone who speaks fluent English but Emery would be a good shout or De Beer, I know some suggest it is perhaps a season too early for him but he plays fluid attacking football and as per his remit at Ajax brings youngsters through. I know the ed's have mentioned Bradley and that would be and intriguing option

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - I believe Emery is fluent in English, so I have been told by people who have been on courses with him. He was one of the first managers (or possible the first? I haven't checked that to be sure) to accept David Moyes' invitation of a post-match drink at Sociedad, I believe because he was able to chat with him in English. He is obsessive in the same way Rafa was and Jose is about football. He spends hours going over videos with the players teaching them how to deal with the opposition. Though a lot of players find it too much after a while, which is a worry.}

01 Jun 2015 20:05:42
But one can`t deny his ability, tho. Seville is a joy to watch and deserve all their recent triumphs over the past decade or so. I wouldn`t mind him at all even tho, it will be mightily difficult to woo him over.

Agree4 Disagree1

01 Jun 2015 20:53:27
Not won much in Spain though.
Sevilla 5th, Liverpool 6th, hardly a ringing endorsement.

Agree0 Disagree17

01 Jun 2015 22:48:48
Wrong again, RK! You coveniently forgot the two consecutive EL's he has won last year and last week, to BR's goose egg. So not winning anything in Spain yet winning consecutive European trophies suddenly makes BR his level, is that right? Your comment doesn't even pass the laugh test. Tell me, Are you that disingenuous or do u just post windup comments to see who'll bite?

Agree5 Disagree1

01 Jun 2015 22:58:29
Sevilla had sod all money to spend, an obliterated team and were broke. They would probably go toe to toe with the top teams in england.

In contrast, rodgers had similar resources at swansea and yet i never hear you complain about his past achievements, even though he finished five places below 5th with swansea.

Might not be amazing but its an improvement.

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Jun 2015 06:55:41
You say the funniest things sometimes RK, not won much in Spain. i'm guessing two Europa Leagues in a row is nothing? Or how about CL qualification to go along with his recent title.

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Jun 2015 12:09:04
Joke of the week RK, but i don't blame you, after all out perfomances in europe under BR are the jokes of the century!! Atleast Emery dosnt joke around in Europe. And every single team in the top 4 of the PL would finish 3rd at best in La Liga in case you forgot the 2 biggest clubs in the world. Also don't forget Atletico Madrid who under Simone has become a diminant force in europe. 1 CL final and Semi in their last 2 camlains.

The four transfer targets being reported look like 3 mistakes and one no brainer.
Miller would be bloody lovely.
Benteke 30 Mil? Really? Won't fit in with the style of play and has had one good season one very average.never in this world 30 Mil player.
Clyne over rated and will no doubt be over priced.
Ings really Ings? A risk for a mid table club. Don't bother getting him on the books.

Jesus spend the money wisely. Proven quality no more risks!

Believable8 Unbelievable10

01 Jun 2015 18:39:03
Ings isn't a risk if we only end up paying 4-5m compensation

Completely agree that Benteke isn't what we need

01 Jun 2015 19:07:11
Have you seen Ings play? The lad can play some ball, mate.

Agree7 Disagree3

01 Jun 2015 19:09:07
Milner and Ings would be decent signings in my opinion, depends on if you can keep the wages and agent fees low.
Clyne? Yeah maybe. Wouldn't pay silly money though.
Benteke for £30m? I really don't think the club is that stupid. But then again we signed ballotelli, benteke would be just about as useful as him with the way we play. I don't think I would sign benteke for any money as it would a huge waste to play him in a role that wouldn't suit him at all.
Talented player and one I like watching but wouldn't suit us.

Agree3 Disagree2

01 Jun 2015 19:23:08
Ings would be a great signing for that amount of money.

Agree3 Disagree4

01 Jun 2015 19:26:18
All this talk of won't fit into our style? Hahaha DNS what style did we just play last season? Pass it round aimlessly at the back until we get pressed into a mistake, loose it then conceded. I don't care if messi is up front it won't help us.

Agree4 Disagree2

01 Jun 2015 19:43:59
Sort of wonder that myself, O G.

Play style gets thrown around rather frequently, but near as I can figure the only consistent element of our play style is passing the ball about on the ground pretty aimlessly.

Outside of some misguided notion of possession being critical, we've shifted style constantly- high press, no press, pass and move, long ball, 3 at the back, 4 at the back, sweeper keeper, keeper stays on his line, wingbacks, fullbacks, deep playmaker, one holding mid, two holding mids, traditional wingers, wide forwards, sole striker, two strikers, three forwards- all have been tried to the point where I have no idea what we are doing half the time and sadly it often this last season looked like the players were similarly confused about what exactly they were supposed to be doing.

Agree8 Disagree0

01 Jun 2015 19:52:13
Seen ings play he s done well with ten goals. But one season doing well in the premier is not going to prepare him for lfc. A big club with expectations. Will he handle it? He s a risk for those reasons. Maybe if we had two solid strikers already then fair enough.
Og I'd say suarez helped us a fair bit? Benteke suits long balls and loads of crosses not possession football

Agree0 Disagree2

01 Jun 2015 20:02:31
None of them players will get us top 4 and that's an absolute fact.
We need a goal scorer before we even think of attempting to bring any other player in. No matter what this is our most important signing of the window.
Then,,, we need a top class goal keeper,, I wouldn't even say Migs is in the top 10 keepers in the prem let alone good enough for top 4. And them are just for starters.

Agree1 Disagree3

01 Jun 2015 20:08:32
The boy is aweful and not worth 30m. If you have 30 million to waste, then go get him if not, you can sign Son for just btw 20-25m who is way better than him and still have money for Ings.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Son would not be available for 20-25m.}

01 Jun 2015 20:22:28

Crikey! Well that's us out of the running then;)

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jun 2015 21:58:56
We won't pay 30 million for Benteke mark my words, after last summer the Americans won't chance that kind of money on him, 20 mill tops I would say take or leave it.

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Jun 2015 22:50:42
Then, we better leave Son where he is, Ed. As for Benteke, I'll pay 17m and no more.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Son is not going anywhere, this was dealt with a while back, Champions League qualification was needed to have any chance of signing him. Benteke will cost more than that, and Villa obviously want him out or why keep talking about how he has a contract clause? That to me suggests there is an issue there and we should steer clear.}

02 Jun 2015 06:58:52
Ed001, I believe we erred not getting Son two years ago when he left Hamburg. I think he is a cracking player and has only gotten better the last two years. Disappointed he is out of our reach now.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I agree.}

01 Jun 2015 17:47:02
So, the best reason G Souness can come up with to keep Rodgers is that our young players will be a year older and hopefully a bit better.
Sorry Graham but I'm pretty sure the players will be a year older regardless of who's in charge, stupid comment.

Believable15 Unbelievable3

01 Jun 2015 18:12:48
Same in every other team really

Agree4 Disagree0

01 Jun 2015 19:12:45
They will actually only be a couple of months older than the players who got trounced on the last day.
They will also have very little more experience due to the summer break.
Keeping Rodgers for another year will only mean the next manager has to have an extra year to sort out the mess he inherits.

Agree2 Disagree0

01 Jun 2015 20:10:18
I`m sure Souness doesn`t want to be seen as bashing the manager of his former club so he defends him w/o really defending him. Another year with BR, is a vote for failure and mediocrity

Agree8 Disagree0

02 Jun 2015 11:46:42
Or souness doesn't want to be the worst manager in our history so he wants BR to stay to match his awfulness at managing a top club? hehe. Loved Souness the player but he is one of the reasons we have not won the title in 26 years.

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Jun 2015 14:50:54
I don't think Klopp coming out saying he's taking time out means the slightest in deciding Rodgers' future at the club. If he is deemed surplus to requirements, he will get the sack. There are still many managers out there better than Rodgers, and if West Ham can look at de Boer, Emery and Bielsa ( according to SSN) we can look into managers of the same calibre too.

I reckon Klopp will go Bayern anyway at the end of next season, to replace Guardiola, and I can see Guardiola taking over at City for the start of 16/17.

Believable21 Unbelievable3

01 Jun 2015 15:59:35
West ham have been knocked back by those managers though, so they are no real barometer. Also FSG want an English speaking manager.
Klopp obviously doesn't fancy the LFC job, it will be the second time he's ruled himself out without being asked.

01 Jun 2015 16:24:18
The job isn't available yet, how can he rule himself out?

Agree21 Disagree0

01 Jun 2015 18:19:14
People seem to think it is either Klopp comes in or BR stays. That can`t be any futher from the truth, per the eds. BR will get the sack REGARDLESS of what Klopp does or doesn`t do. The main thing now is for us to find the right manager, Klopp or not.

Agree10 Disagree0

01 Jun 2015 19:10:54
Do you really think a man like Klopp will be able to roll his thumbs and sip on pina coladas for a year? I'm certain he'll be coaching this coming season be it Liverpool or elsewhere. The man is hurting. FSG need to be sensible in any approach and remember, we still have a manager.

Agree1 Disagree1

01 Jun 2015 19:15:16
Spot on Ohio.
Rodgers needs to go regardless of the availability of Klopp.
I would love for us to bring Klopp in but the fact is Rodgers needs to go and you could pick a managers name out of a hat and they would have more of an impact than Rodgers now.

Klopp confirms he is taking a year sabbatical from the game.

Believable9 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - actually his words were that it might be a good idea or something along those lines. What he is saying is that he is not jumping straight into the first job offered to him but will wait for the right one when he is ready.}

01 Jun 2015 15:15:30
Klopp didn't say anything about a year long sabbatical. His statement was pretty vague, and very open to interpretation if you ask me. If he really were set on an extended sabbatical then he would have made it clear. He's jobless, so there's nothing else for him to do right now than take a break anyway. As of yet, he hasn't received any offers that would turn your head, so all he can do at the moment is just sit back and see what pops up while he smashes down those beers back home.

Agree10 Disagree0

01 Jun 2015 15:45:05
Klopp said they following:-

"After seven intense and emotional years, I think it's a good idea to let the numerous memories settle in before I take on a new challenge with my team refreshed and motivated."
"I'm going to take a break until further notice."

The thing is the season will be upon us before we know it.
If he's made a statement saying he's taking a break, I doubt he's going to change his mind in the next 4 weeks and say he's back. I think this statement pretty much rules him out of the running for LFC manager 2015/16

I don't know that Klopp was ever 'in the running' to begin with. At the moment, we have a manager. If/when that changes, then things may get more interesting.

Agree6 Disagree2

01 Jun 2015 17:19:23
Zed, I've always said Klopp and Ancelotti won't come to LFC and I've always been shouted down for saying it.
Both have said they're taking a break, you can't blame me for feeling vindicated.

As for being "pro BR". I will always be "pro" any LFC manager because that's the way I've been brought up to support the club. Back in the day when Shanks was manager he taught us all to pull together in the same direction, I still behave like that.

I have nothing invested in BR and I don't know him personally, if he gets sacked it will be a shame for him but will mean nothing to me personally. I just want the club to do well and my old-fashioned behaviour means I will support the man in charge until they are not in charge.

Nice Ron.

Well said.

Agree5 Disagree9

{Ed001's Note - no it is not well said. If you can only come up with 'well he is the manager now' as a reason to support him, then clearly that is not enough to keep him. Too busy trying to be superfans to actually think for yourselves and have an opinion. Support those who are doing good for the club, not those who are causing issues.}

01 Jun 2015 17:41:22
So, RK, if you worked for a well respected person and you really liked and were very pro this individual no matter what, and they committed a crime, oh, i don't know, say fraud for example, would you still be pro this individual? BR has and continues to commit crimes against LFC (foot in mouth, freezing players out, the list is endless), on top of shafting away millions of pounds on players not even needed.

Agree15 Disagree2

01 Jun 2015 17:57:02
So you were pro-Hodgson then?

Agree11 Disagree0

01 Jun 2015 18:29:50
RDL - I wanted him to do well. If that means I'm "pro" then I guess I was. Everyone's different but I personally don't get any pleasure or satisfaction out of seeing our managers struggle. I wanted them all to do well and I'm always disappointed when it doesn't.
I don't relish our manager struggling.

Agree2 Disagree9

01 Jun 2015 18:46:27
Fair enough, Ron. I don't think anyone is happy to see us not doing well. My preference would be that BR was the manager for the next decade or more as it would mean he was doing well and the team was doing well which would be good obviously. Unfortunately I don't see that as the case at the moment.

Agree3 Disagree2

01 Jun 2015 19:03:56
RK, you are being dishonest and you know it. You have been pro-BR to the fullest and we all have read all your posts on here, filled with pointless reasons as to why he should be kept and now, you`re trying to act as if you never said a thing or "I have nothing invested in him, personally". Was that quote a sick joke? You are THE BR fan on here and you are doing the very same thing he is doing and being villified for as in, taking no responsibility for your actions and past statements and are now acting as if you said and did nothing, just as BR said we were not challenging for the PL whereas he told the owners that same thing in order to shaft them for the 100m he later blew. Give it up bro, we know who you are and what you stand for. You would rather support a failure in order to be seen as a superfan (whoever that is) than support those who are ready to work for our progress as the Ed said.

Agree9 Disagree5

01 Jun 2015 19:04:25

Agree5 Disagree1

01 Jun 2015 19:59:34
If the current manager is removed, who fully trusts FSG on his replacement ?
Because moi, their actual football decisions are all over the place.

OK, they got Hodgson out quickly as there was going to be a revolution there.
Then they go with an old hero, leave him high and dry when the s**t starts flying, appear on the pitch at Wembley with a cup, turn up in the other cup final and don't even shake his hand after the match, then summon him to Boston for the heave ho a couple of weeks later thank you very much.

Then, it's the complete opposite, the youngest and most inexperienced manager.

Appoint Comolli as a DoF-type thingy whatsamacallit, we never were sure what his brief was exactly. Then that idea was scrapped and the reins handed to said youngest and most inexperienced manager.
What was the mess up with a striker short ?
Then it's a committee, except no one is sure where the accountability lies for the mistakes.
Now they're maybe thinking of a DoF / Sporting Director again. Haha.
You couldn't make this up.

The ground. Brilliant, at long last the problem was resolved. Houses for local people, seats for the people. Except on that last part, they won't be seats for local people but mostly on the 'chicken in a basket' brigade (not posh enough for prawn sandwiches in Liverpool yer see). So not 9000 extra raucous voices but the muffled commentary of Sky from inside the boxes and gentle whoosh of suits sitting upon extra-padded leather.
Ah well, can't blame them for that wholly I suppose, that's modern football when the £ replaces silverware as the aim.

The review and staff. Another one. The doors at Liverpool revolve faster than a supermarket. What do they give staff at the club, a six month contract ?

I don't know. Don't call people 'superfans' ed / etc. Because some of us just shake our heads now, the place seems all over the gaff. The club seemed to just tick rhythmically on once over, now it's like a Tommy Cooper trick, you don;t know what the * is coming next !

Whatever, Ron! I posted facts that have been verified by both the Ed and other posters here so what you think is amusing makes no difference. Unlike you, I can accept if out team is not doing well AS LONG AS the manager has a vision that is clear and is learning from his mistakes. BR is the complete opposite of that. That is what you don't seem to get. I will support a coach who is trying to do and get better and refuse unlike you, to back a failure who refuses to learn and keeps peeing on my back YET keeps telling me it's raining. That's the diff btw you and many of us who are fed up with him. You are free to support whoever you want. I will support our club and our manager who is working hard to get us going w/o any BS.

Not read it yet Ed001, but good god, I just hope someone or two at the club reads what is being said on the LFC pages here. Please, no more BR. As for Klopp, I wonder if he mentioned that he is taking a year out to stop the media asking to many questions! I'm sure Ed001, if the right club came calling (so hope it is LFC), he may just consider the offer and take it up. Having said that, does he want Arsenal or Barca if not LFC (I know he has said he likes or has an affinity to LFC), something like that anyway.

Positives:
A (MAINLY) BETTER BRAND OF FOOTBALL - not really
BRINGING IN THE YOUNGSTERS - not really
THE TITLE CHALLENGE - check
Flexibility - check

Negatives:
FLEXIBILITY - Check
ADAPTING TO BIG-MONEY SIGNINGS - Check
THE DEFENCE - Check
MENTAL STRENGTH - Check

So 6 negatives and 2 positives (where one of them can also be considered a negative). We need to give him a contract extension.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is a blank page mate. I was kidding about the reasons.}

01 Jun 2015 14:31:27
Ed001, it would be interesting (if you're not to busy?)on your take of the Echo's, for's and against him staying on.

For him still being manager the Echo had.

Better brand of football
Brining in the youngsters
Title challange
Flexibility.

Against him being manager they had.

Flexibility
Adapting to big money signings
The defence
Mental strenghth.

Understand if you can't Ed001, but it would make for a really interesting read in a very cold, and windy, Liverpool on the first day of Summer.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - better brand of football was only in evidence for a few months, the rest of the time he has produced what can at best be called insipid football. Awful for large portions of the time.

Bringing in the youngsters is ridiculous, he has barely looked at them.

Title challenge? How many years will he be able to live off one good season?

Flexibility I really don't get. What is so flexible in a good way? He makes nonsense changes that don't work during a game but then reverts straight back to what didn't work for the start of the next game.

He has brought in no one that worked out since Coutinho and Sturridge. The rest of his signings have struggled. So that is defo a negative.

The defence is awful and getting worse each season.

Mental strength of the team is just non-existent, as is passion and desire.

The good point for me, and it really is the only one I can think of now, is that the players have improved technically under his guidance.}

To be fair, I think the youngsters part is getting misread. I think the author of the piece isn't talking about bringing players through the academy, but just generally buying younger players, as he talks about the average age of the squad compared to previous seasons. How this I a positive though, is anyone's guess.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - I would rather he bought the best players to win now, and brought youngsters through the academy. So I fail to see it as a positive.}

01 Jun 2015 15:08:25
Thanks for the reply Ed001, didn't realise it came up as a blank page on the echo website? Strange that you were joking, over there in sunny, hot Dubai, yet the Echo did a piece on him staying on.

I agree Ed001, can't see many, if any, positives in his three year reign at our great club. Hopefully by the end of this week the Echo can do an article on why he got the sack.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I just saw a thing about how the Liverpool Echo had a blank front page and thought I would make a joke. Sorry mate, I forget people might not have seen it.}

Ed002,

You regularly reference these 'third parties' who advise the club on decisions, transfers etc.

Its something i have not been aware of and you only seem to have mentioned it recently.

So can you please explain why that is? Is it a recent thing? Who are they and why do they do it?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Lots of clubs use advisors to help them in various ways. Commercially Liverpool has a well known English advisor. They also have advisors who help out with other aspects of the business - including the footballing side. Other clubs use advisors to assess possible transfers (Chelsea is one). Some clubs ask advice from previous managers. They do it to get the best information that they can.}

01 Jun 2015 17:27:20
Is it Kpmg or e&y or those type of firms hired for advisory?? I know these people are into a lot of buisness advisory and also finances. Just curious ed02.

Hi eds,
A young local 16 year old boy in Dublin died yesterday on the pitch possibly from sudden death syndrome. Thinking of his family at this time. May he rest in peace.

The club physio did have a defibrillator and tried everything they could but I'm sure there are many clubs in grassroots football that would not have defibrillators surely there must be some rule brought in as this is becoming regular now and it's the difference between life and death.

You are looking at the costs of teaching every physio, lifeguard etc how to use them, also what a lot of people don't underrstand is that your heart has to be in certain arrhythmias. If I remember there are only 2 of 8 arrests it can be used on(Something like that). It's just not plausible to expect every person to know these rythms, you're pretty much asking a physio to no the intricacies of DR's working knowledge of the heart rhythms

Obviously there are plenty of names being thrown around at the moment. I know nothing of Kovacic I'll admit, but the few minutes of footage I've just looked at make me wish this rumour has some legs. I know highlights packages show just that, highlights, and there are bound to be flaws to his game, but there are Gerrardesque marauding runs combined with an eye for a pass that make our midfield buys of the last couple of years look major overspend.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

01 Jun 2015 05:42:40
Could we not just try Lallana as a deeper lying midfielder instead of buying Kovacic. Try Henderson as a defensive type midfielder. with his strength, power and engine it could suit him. Leaving Lallana to play the box to box midfielder and Coutinho creating up higher. Just an idea

Agree11 Disagree11

01 Jun 2015 07:47:34
I am a fan of Lallana and hope to see him fit and get a good run of games under his belt. I don't think Hendo reads the game well enough yet to play the holding role, it would also be a slight waste of his engine IMO.

Agree10 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - don't worry, Sturridge will be converted to a left wing back to accomodate all the midfielders.}

The scary thing is though Ed001 is that I could see Rodgers doing something that daft!

Agree5 Disagree1

01 Jun 2015 09:30:54
Lallana as box to box? The guy can't play more then 70 minutes as an attacker in one area of the field, he won't last past half time as 'all action'

Agree6 Disagree11

01 Jun 2015 11:56:06
if he really can't play full 90 minutes then do we really have to play him 90 minutes? the manager should manage the squad right? that gives room to other players to play, i don't see why its an issue, that has never stopped lallana from playing for us, why should it stop us from playing him there?

you have a squad, not a team of 11 men. its not the first time we have to manage a player who can't play the whole 90 minutes surely.

none of us really know who the next manager will be IF Rodgers was to be sacked. let's look at a few names mentioned before and my personal opinion on whether they would come or not.

Klopp- several clubs in better circumstances have looked at him e.g Napoli. he's not been approached yet but i'd think he would come.

De boer- latest from ed2 is he thinks he's likely to stay so i will rule him out for now.

Schmidt- done brilliantly with Leverkusen and now in champs league. After being there a year i wouldn't expect him to leave. They have more funds better players and champions leaguebto play.

Favre- again like Schmidt done fantastic with monchengladbach and in champions league. don't expect him to move at all.

Ancelotti- a no go and wants time off is what I've read unless he goes to city maybe.

Rafa- answers itself

Unai Emery- done brilliantly with sevilla and into the champions league. Wanted by some big clubs but i'd defo go for him if available. Fantastic manager.

Avb- ed2 mentioned that avb told someone he wouldn't want it so i'd rule him out.

Jorge Jesus- done fantastic with Benfica after the players they've sold. if he was available i'd look at him aswell.

So in summary my 3 to look at would be:-
Klopp, Emery, Jesus

No doubt none of these will get it haha

Believable4 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - Interesting that you have chosen to ignore Julen Lopetegui and Bob Bradley.}

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - international management is the highest level and he has plenty of experience of that.}

I'd suggest that's an outmoded view and that the highest level is now club football, but that's just my opinion

Agree2 Disagree2

{Ed001's Note - you would be wrong, whether I like it or not, and I really dislike international football, it is the highest level of the game. It is a fact, not an opinion. Now you could question whether managing USA and Egypt is in the top bracket, which they probably are not, but they are at the highest level.}

01 Jun 2015 08:02:52
You could argue managing Liverpool is a harder job than managing Egypt or USA ed001.
Bigger egos, mixed cultures/beliefs, language barriers, brutal press interviews, overly optimistic fans.
I would rather as a manager be managing USA, they always seem professional (for footballers).

Agree1 Disagree3

{Ed001's Note - never said anything about which was easier, nor do I see the relevance to the point being made mate. Club football is always going to be more difficult, you have to manage 365 days a year in club football, international football is only a few months a year. International football is still the highest level though.}

A friend of mine knows a player who currently plays for Bob Bradley at Staebek, and the player can't stop praising Bradley. Personally, I think Bradley is not the right choice.

What Bradley has done with Stabæk is out of this world. Stabæk was a first division club with a real chance of going under. After Bradley came in, they now look like a title contender, playing beatiful football and also attracting players. But there is some leap from Stabæk to LFC of course.

We need the right manager and not just a new one.
