See Torres had a good game again. LMFAO

I reckon he's nap-on to do an Owen and win nothing while he's at Chelsea.

Vidic wnt be playing on sunday ha :)

01 Mar 2011 22:28:19
Looking at Chelsea beating utd playing 442 without any proper wingers and a defensvie midfielder on the right wing, do you think we should adopt the same formation and sunday?

Possible line up for us. .

- - - - - - - Reina- - - - - -

Johnson- -Carra- - Agger- -Aurelio

Cole- - - - -Gerrard- - - - - -Maxi
- - - - - - - -Meireles- - - - - -

- - - - - -Kuyt- - Suarez- - - -

>> no offence but our biggest problem at the weekend was that we lost the midfield battle and taking lucas out of the team will only make us weaker

All in all, a great night. Bluenoses embarrassed by Reading, the traitor being outscored by a defender over four games and Vidic suspended for Sunday, with Ferdinand being a doubt to play from the start.
That means only one thing Evans & Smalling vs. Suarez & Kuyt/ Carroll. I'll have a penalty with a side order of Manc embarrassment. For dessert I'll have a Rooney red card and a framed picture of Slur Alex's reaction.

I know this as been banned around alot but at the moment in time who do you think we will sign for left back in the summer?
also do you think we will sell soto and skrtel, as i believe they are not good enough

01 Mar 2011 21:44:35
Vidic out for sunday. . get in

01 Mar 2011 21:46:30
Not LFC related but tonight couldn't have gone much better. Bitters crash out to Reading, Scum lose, Vidic out on Sunday and the worlds biggest waste of £50m misses out again

01 Mar 2011 21:49:03
Vidic can't play against liverpool

is Andy Carrol fit? ?

utd have a lack of good centre backs for sunday! !

Sorry for my late reply was down the gym. I'm not saying throw loads of money at it like Chelsea or Man C but what the point in keeping players like Poulsen, Soto, Jovanovic, Degan, El zhar, Insua, Ngog, Darby, Maxi and Aqua when they are clearly not good enough. So sell them and use the money plus additional funds needed to buy 5 quality signings and start bringing through the youth. It's not rocket science! And to the guy who said we have a good enough squad already. . are you a complete tit? We're 6th in the league and way off the pace! {Ed001's Note - it is not that easy, if it was every team would do that every single season wouldn't they? It may not be rocket science but it is a lot more complicated than your attempt to simplify it. You have to have someone willing to buy the dross for starters, which we have had trouble finding in the past.}

I agree with you Ed it' not going to be easy. However, we have 5 months to sort out deals for these players and it's got to be done one way or another to free up wages. I find it hard to believe we won't be able to shirt these players with the time that we have!

01 Mar 2011 21:32:39
They are all very good players i must admit but my one worry about RVP is that he in injury prone. He looks like he will miss the match against Barca and that's a big blow. Sorry about the language too ED.

I would of loving us to get Bale when he was in the Championship, he is quality but based on this season its Nani for me, 9 goals and 14 assists, but Bale is a very close 2nd.

To Layers who said they would love to have a fit Fernando, who would you pick between a fit Fowler, Owen or Fernando?

Barry B
. . . . . .
I would pick fowler, he was class for years and a local lad.
And also the only one who didn't s**t on us out of them 3

Liverpool have only paid £5 mil towards Aquilani so far, and they are willing to offer him back to Roma rather than pay the remaining £10mil+. As it looks as though Juventus are pulling out of negotations all together.
redmist

Redmist, so you're saying the terms of the deal that were published on Roma's website have been re-negotiated or renaged on?

According to that deal we should have paid 7M by June 30th 2010 bringing the total paid to 15M, with the last 5M due by 30th June this year.

@United have not used any of the U18's this season but apart from Sterling's call up to the Liverpool Euro squad have any of your U18's played this season? United have been playing Fabio 20, Rafael 20, Anderson 22, Evans 22, Hernandez 22, Smalling 21, etc. United have Welbeck 20 & Cleverley 21 on loan, both are good players. Macheda is on loan 19.

I'm sure Tunnicliffe, Pogba, Morrison, Keane & King will play a bigger part next season.

Sydney!

- - - - -

For the record, this season Conor Coady, Jack Robinson, Jon Flanagan, Raheem Sterling and Tom Ince have all been called up to the to the first team at some point this season. I'm sure all of these, as well as the incomparable Suso and possibly Toni Silva and Michael Ngoo, will play a bigger part next season.
Liverpool have also managed to regularly play Kelly 20, Wilson 19, Shelvey 18, Ngog 21 (I know, that didn't turn out too good), etc., even though for most of the season we've been in no position to sit back, have a laugh and throw on the kids. We also have Ayala 20 on loan at Derby who is earning rave reviews for solid defensive performances and will likely be 3rd choice CB next season.

Anyway, can't wait for the Liverpool U18 v Man Utd U18 game. It's too close to call in my opinion.

Player i would wish we still had was torres. we knew how to play him and get the best out of him. . chelsea don't have a clue,

dont get me wrong, am glad he looks like a lost boy after what he did to us and our club. . but i think with his goals we may have challenged for top 4 this season still

01 Mar 2011 20:58:27
Torres looks awful tonite, positioning is awful, body language poor. . in a word, GREAT!

01 Mar 2011 20:52:33
Ed, what are Benzemas best abilities? Not seen much of him tbh {Ed001's Note - he scores goals. He offers almost nothing else to be honest.} So why is Comolli such a big fan? However I hope ur wrong and Maccas right(which seems likely) cause i trust Kenny and Comollis ability to find talent. With the 4 signings, M'Vila, A Winger and A Defender we would have a class squad tbf {Ed001's Note - I would hope Comolli sees a lot more of him, I am sure he will have seen him play a lot more often than I have, but to me he seems a very lazy player.}

{Ed001's Note - I would rather watch a team built properly than some fantasy team built on the back of a sugar daddy. This is Liverpool, not Chelsea, that is not how it should be done.}

Well said ed, we have a good enough squad now. It needs tweeking definately but not overhauling. Also, what is the point in winning the league if you have bought it like chelsea and madrid have done and what man city are trying to do. It would be meaningless. I want to win the league properly through effort and passion with the players we know and love- not moaning cheats like ashley young and our very own maxi rodriguez. Luckily we don't have many diving players like him

TO ALL THE GUYS SAYING GERRARD IS PAST HIS BEST - -
'' TAKE A LOOK AT LIVERPOOL - NAPOLI AT ANFIELD '' & THEN SPEAK. NOW DO NOT TELL ME IT WAS NAPOLI ONLY, NAPOLI IS ONE OF THE BEST DEFENCES, SO THE WAY HE CRACKED THEM OPEN IN 14 MINS IS THE WORK OF A GENIUS. MAYBE OLD TO PLAY 90 MINS AT THAT LEVEL BUT HE IS WAY BETTER THAN ANY CENTER MIDFIELD IN THE LEAGUE.
MAYBE KK PLAYS HIM 60-70 MINS TO GET THE BEST FROM HIM

Got a random question for the eds and other people out of which players that still play and who played for liverpool before which ywo would you have back
mine would be alonso and luis garcia

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Alonso, (all day long) Git rid of poor attitude and sulkiness then Torres, Mascherano. . West Ham would not have got the better of Masch!

Of the last 6/ 7 years. I'd say Finnan, Hyppia, Alonso and Hamann at their prime would walk into this side.

ok thanks and not even a luis garcia in his prime and also i would love to see sami hyppia back now or on prime anyone else {Ed001's Note - you didn't say anything about in their prime mate. Though I wouldn't have Luis back, he was far too inconsistent and annoyed the crap out of me watching him, even though I loved him.

sorry a didn't make myself clear did you ever rate gonzalez? {Ed001's Note - I don't think he was ever good enough for us, he just didn't seem to have good enough technical ability or strength.}

Ed, may I ask mate why ashley young is top priority mate for a winger. He's 26, no commerical revenue brought that a turan' would bring, can't get onto the england team etc. Ed, are we buying young as a Short term' solution until sterling and the youngsters come through because that is that only thing that makes sense? {Ed001's Note - because he is the player they have decided will improve the squad for the right price. Remember his contract is up next summer too.}

im sorry but i completely disagree , if he can't get into the england squad how did he score the winner in the 2-1 win over denmark the other week?? ?? theres alot of players that struggle to get into the england squad , walcott doesn't exactly start every week , neither does milner , downing doesn't either , neither does lampard now , are they all rubbish players then?
ashley young has been consistently good all season he scored another 2 at the weekend if you actually take notice of football , also if hes rubbish why are man u chelsea city spurs and us interested in singing him?? people need to actually watch ashley young hes clearly a good player , and kenny knows what he is doing .
POINT PROVEN !

Jus bin watching youtube steven gerrard top 10 goals, i think he needs to watch it an remember what its like to tear arse it round in midfield no one capable of stopping ya, we need the gerrard of old back on sunday

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I agree, he stopped shooting as much from distance the last year under Benitez and never got it back to the levels he has been.

01 Mar 2011 18:39:46
Great piece on TIA about Lucas! Maybe we should back him from now on! All we need is someone next to him with quality and DESIRE, then we will have the midfield we need! If we played a 4-2-3-1 system with Carrol up top, Suarez left and A N Other on the right, that looks an intimidating front 3. Follow that up with Gerrard in the middle that is our front four possibly for the next two seasons! Not bad eh? Lucas and Adam behind them that again doesn't look bad. Lucas can play the tiki taka that we want and Adam can spray the ball, if not like Alonso, as good as! I agree we need a new left back but Johnson seems to thrive in that position. yes his attacking qualities are better than his defensive but that is where Lucas comes in. Kelly on the right is a certain! Here comes what I think is the biggest issue. . Centreback. . .As much as it pains me to write but Carra is too old! The King has brought back the Boot Room and Carra is now involved in coaching! Brilliant I think! We need someone next to Agger. Personally I think Kjaer would be ideal! Tall, strong in the challenge and the boy can play! Through in some 'squad' players and I believe that we could get back into the top 4. What do you think eds? {Ed001's Note - not Kjaer, I would rather have Ayala or Wilson at centre back than Kjaer. I can only think you have not watched a lot of him if you rate him that highly, he offers nothing special at all.}

01 Mar 2011 18:41:18
Remember that Steven Gerrard was the leading Architect for Liverpool fightbacks in the past and he is remains the same. But, what he lack is freedom to go up. He feels that there isn't any cover in the defence. Thats why he has an on defense and it affects him attacking mind. If he was made sure that Defense is strong enough he will start to deliver. Thats why i am not accepting the Rumours that steven Gerrard part his best

01 Mar 2011 18:41:46
Watched Wisdom last night and I truly believe out of all the youth we have, this lad has the most potential He will develop into a monster of a player.What do yuo think of him Ed? I would love to see kenny give him a go replacing Kelly. I don't think he would let anyone down. {Ed001's Note - I really like Wisdom, but I think he is a few years away from being ready, he needs a loan move or two to get him ready.}

01 Mar 2011 18:45:25
Ed do you think that benzema could play in a front 3 with carrol and suarez? Also is hazard a possibility for the summer? {Ed001's Note - he could, yes, not sure it would be the best thing for the team or him though.}

Essien would be my player to make the difference. Playing Carra in the reserves with Wisdom and Wilson learning them positioning would be a help also. They might even teach him how to pass the ball out of defence without it looking like an Hoof.

Also, Kelly at rb am not too convinced. I'd love to see us sign Richards for right back, pair Kelly with Agger at cb, with Wilson, Ayala, and Carra 3rd, 4th, 5th choices respectively. Richards may cover when needed.

I was at the game Thursday and Kelly was our best player on the right.

Realistic red. {Ed001's Note - Kelly has been the standout player of the season, he has been fantastic.}

01 Mar 2011 19:02:10
Just wondering ed if you do not believe Ashley young is good enough even though we could get him at a very reasonable price and you believe Sanchez and others would be too expensive who do you think we should buy {Ed001's Note - I think Sanchez would be worth every single penny spent to get him, he is absolutely top class.}

Hi ed, love the site. Just wonderin about Macca, i keep hearin his name being banded about and how he is always right like he is a football prophet or somethin ha. Apparantly he is very reliable but what exactly has he been right about in the past?

walk on {Ed001's Note - I am sure plenty of people can tell you exactly mate, I haven't got time right now to trawl back through to be sure and I don't want to give you a false idea by getting it wrong sorry.}

Remember that we using Represve team players in our Europa League campaign yet we getting some results. Our youngsters have some quality to compete in Premier League and if they have to work with this generation player like Gerrard, Jamie and Pepe they will be as great as them.
Remember that Manchester city has attained same results as ours in Europe. They has used all of thier top player and we use one or two of our top players in our group.
Thats why we seeming to struggle in Europe when compared to Man.CITY

ED if Andy Carroll misses the united game on sunday will tha be the last game he will miss ? {Ed001's Note - not sure mate, it depends on how quickly he gets into shape.}

01 Mar 2011 18:02:28
But they are above us Ed! I agree with what the guy said, we need 5-6 top players and need to ship about 10 players out. What's the point in waiting! {Ed001's Note - and they should be winning the league by miles with the players they have but they aren't. Real Madrid have shown that buying big does not win anything except on computer games.}

However, they have assembled a squad that will be together for a long time to come and maybe in 2-3 years they will start winning the league.

What I'm saying is the sooner we put the squad together the sooner we will get to where we want to be.

Like I said, what's the point in waiting! The sooner the better. {Ed001's Note - I would rather watch a team built properly than some fantasy team built on the back of a sugar daddy. This is Liverpool, not Chelsea, that is not how it should be done.}

reina want to leave just sell him
johnson has what it takes
kelly great player
agger good but always injured
gerrard nis believe has gonne, but that can chance
suarez great buy
caroll will come good
lucas playing well this season
skrtl has no idea
carra needs to be a trainer
soto not good enough hard worker
poulsen colourblind so was the board
ngog never will be good enough
kuyt works hard no skills can't pass a tree
maxi doesn't really want the ball
cole no comment

we all have a idea what should be done.
no1.
buy replacements for:
marcherano
alonso
arbeloa
reira
benayoun

once we have done that we can start were we left of 2 years ago.

i did not want to be this harsch but i love liverpool so much, i really believe what i wrote.
we got 3 goals against west ham.
we are in a terrible mess.

What i am trying to say is we need 5/ 6 big buys and things will fall into place.
the team will start playing better youngster get minutes in a good side and that's how we will get back.
we will need 2 years to get this done, and we need to make sure all the good youngster have a contract.
the youngsters wil be 2 years older and ready.
ed? {Ed001's Note - I don't think we need to buy that many big buys in one go, that is where City have gone wrong.}

But they are above us Ed! I agree with what the guy said, we need 5-6 top players and need to ship about 10 players out. What's the point in waiting! {Ed001's Note - and they should be winning the league by miles with the players they have but they aren't. Real Madrid have shown that buying big does not win anything except on computer games.}

01 Mar 2011 17:41:27
ED who do you hope wins tonight? i mean if chelsea win it moves arsenal closer to winning the title but if united win then we move closer to chelsea and increases our chances of a europa league place next season! so who do you want ED ? {Ed002's Note - I would prefer Chelsea to win.}

01 Mar 2011 17:39:59
I accept the fact all the teams have good young players. Suppose that Arsenal and Aston Villa has used them in this Season.
If Manchester United have good youth players why they still play Grandfathers like Scholes and Giggs. I think we have best quality among all of them. Indian Red

To all the eds can one of you please explain why any of my last 3 posts have not been posted, they haven't been offensive, abusive or totally ridiculous like some of the posts you show, i've included my email address so maybe one of you would be courteous enough to offer me an explanation.
thanks paul

{Ed002's Note - They have not been cut by me Paul, but I'll ask the other Eds to see if they cut them or not. I assume that you have checked all of the various "rooms" or pages. If they included large lists of players or team line-ups they may well have gone to the "Wish Lists" page.}

Just after watching lfc.tv raina on did a short interview blamed him self for some mistakes on sunday but said he will put it right this sunday dose not sound like a man that's going to leave wot u think eds 001 to 101 & macc red til i die {Ed002's Note - I did not think he was to blame for the loss. I am not sure whether it is possible to determine from an interview now if he will leave or not.}

Bastos, M'Vila, Benzema, Young, Adam, Marveaux and a defender will be the signings

Poulsen, Konchesky, Jova, Maxi, Cole, Aqua, Insua all leaving
Ed, do you think this is likely, as this what ive been told {Ed002's Note - The same players have been discussed for days - it is not reasonable for the Eds to repeadly respond to exactly the same questions.}

I just wanted a few people's opinion on this. If you wanted LFC to sign one player from the Premier League who would it be. I'd have to go for Luis Nani, i know i may get a load of stick from this but he has been United most consistent player this season, they would be lost without him. Not since the great John Barnes or McManaman have we had an out and out winger who could cut the defence open with a pass or a bit of trickery.

In all honesty i'd go for Cesc Fabregas all day long (the Alonso we've been missing), Or Nasri/ Modric if i had to choose, Who would the Eds pick i wonder, Dont know all the Eds but i think Ed001 would pick Modric (dont no why).

Cheers UCCM {Ed001's Note - personally I would go for Baines myself.}

SAMIR NASRI OR GARETH BALE WOULD DO NICELY

Peoples, our Liverpool has biggest future than any other team in Premier League, because we already have atleast 10 teenagers who is knocking the First team door. From next year onwards, we need to built team around them and there is huge chance of Dominating the world in near future. There are periods of transition and we are in the position to release players who are Deadwoods in our squad and we can replace them may with the youths we have are we can inject cash on Top quality young players who can develop the potential of our young players.

@I agree that Liverpool have some blinding youth coming through, Sterling, Wilson, Kelly, Suso, Ayala & Shelvey to name a few but other clubs have some impressive youth coming through too, United (My club) have Pogba, Morrison, Keane, King, Tunnicliffe & Cofie all coming through, all are top players. Spurs have some top youth coming through, Chelsea have some top youth, Villa have some top youth, Villa's youth beat Arsenal's youth 10.1 last month.

My point is every club has top youth but only a handful will usually make it. Liverpool's U18's host United's U18's at Anfield on March 13th at 12pm. Let the best team win.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - I concur with E Syd! on this.}

Jus listened to rafa on bbc website, i kno he lost the plot a little towards the end of his tenure but i still think hes a top bloke, wen asked if he was at a club with an unlimited budget who wud he buy- answer pepe reina, the best signing he made in my opinion, also hinting at a return to the prem, this is a long shot, ancelotti gets sacked at the end of the season, maybe rafa is installed at the bridge, we all kno roman wants big ears an rafa has a good european pedigree

what dya think ed ? {Ed002's Note - I really don't see him at Chelsea, and probably not at any other EPL club in the short-term.}

01 Mar 2011 16:02:23
Ed are enrique and benzema possible signings? Why are we never linked with hulk, he is strong and powerful and can play either side of a front 3? {Ed002's Note - I would be surprised at either signing, but Enrique may be possible. As for Hulk, I can't say why Liverpoolo have not been linked with him.}

01 Mar 2011 16:03:23
Ed what wingers except young are possible in the summer? Also is hangeland or gary cahill an option at centre back? {Ed002's Note - You really need to take the time to read the posts about wingers. I doubt either of the players mentioned will be sought by Liverpool.}

Ed in the summer i believe we should not try buy adam, but buy an amazing talent in nuri sahin, ive watched him all season and the lad is unreal. We should go all out for him and steven defour. Other targets i would like to see are Turan, Greizzeman, Baines.

I don't really feel the Liverpool spirit. It doesn't travel with me in my heart. In any situation. Can i really walk alone. I think i can. Seem to be very unhealthy obsessing about future transfers that will never happen. 50% of the time this place is wrong.

Things have been bad but they will get better. Next season I see us beating the likes Blackpool, Wolves, and WHU. Do you realise that if we had won the won games against those teams this season that we would be in THIRD place! With the right signings and the right departures we will improve massively next season. I personally would like to see Reina and Carragher out of the team immediately. Both are over-rated and though Carragher is passionate (as are all the fans) Reina is the opposite and is already wearing the colours of Arsenal and Chelsea in his mind. I think that it is time that Carragher was removing to the training staff where I believe that he will make a far better contribution than he is at present.
Mal 24

Now that Kelly is injured I don't think that there is any doubt that he will be replaced by Carragher - a retrogade step - Johnson should go back there and Wilson remain at left-back if Aurelio is not fit. Let's play attacking football for a change - it mightn't help us win knowing all the luck that man U have - but it will at least frighten them (hopefully).

Bentner has been going around, listen guys any player that can't make the first eleven at any team is not good enough for lfc.
we should go for the young up and coming stars.
and our attack isn't the problem.
we need 3 defenders.
carra needs to be replaced
skrtl not good enough
soto not lfc level
we have no left defender
poulsen what were the board thinking?
ngog never will be lfc player.
then we need to replace
aurelio
konch
aquilani
its unbelieveble that kuyt is getting a new contract.
we need to get quality, and it will take us 2 years to return were we belong.

we need to buy quality and that will cost.
all big teams have 4/ 5 player that cost them.

If Carroll isn't fit to make the starting XI then put him on the bench and start Kuyt and if he isn't ready for that then put Aurelio on the bench.

what do you think ed? {Ed001's Note - Carroll is not ready to start a game like that.}

Its time for liverpool to clean out all dead wood -kuyt, poulson, skertle, NGOG, jova, the greek(the list goes on) and reina if he wants to go we can't have a keeper that doesn't want to be there(like at the west ham game) we need to stop buying ok players and go for outstanding players, once we have a solid defence in place then we can start attacking.

01 Mar 2011 14:41:16
Ed 001 have you or any other eds got any info on us making a move for michel bastos? are we keen on him and is there a chance we could make a move in the summer? its been widely reported that were interested , i think him or fabio coentrao are the best options available. would appreciate your views ed.

also macca have you got any info on bastos?

Ed what are the chances of signing Turan? What defensive midfield players are possible for the summer? {Ed002's Note - Arda Turan will be available in the summer and if the club are still interestyed in the player they will need to put a good package together. At present it appears that Young may be a higher priority to the club. If the club are interested in a defensive midfielder then I would expect M'Vila to head the list.}

I would of loving us to get Bale when he was in the Championship, he is quality but based on this season its Nani for me, 9 goals and 14 assists, but Bale is a very close 2nd.

Would have to be Silva, amazing on his day and at least we would have a left footed player

Silva Caroll Saurez
Meireles Gerrard
Lucas
Aurelio Wilson Agger Kelly

and at liverpool he would get alot more chances at 1st team football, as the only other two top strikers we got at the club are carrol and suarez.

My choice would be Essien, a proper holding midfielder and not a makeshift one.

The match at the weekend he will be the player i fear most especially if he comes up against Carragher, he is my idol along with Sami Hyypia but i just don't think Carra can deal with these kind of players anymore.

I'd like your opinion on this, and i'd welcome a bit of stick too!

Hi ed, not posted in a long time, but kept up to date with website. alot of talk about benzema recentley, a player a like, was very good in france but struggled for consistancy in spain, he has alot to his game in my opinion and that is why i think he is being looked at. for way to long we depended on one striker to score all the goals, when he wasnt scoring the team sruggled. we need goals throuhout the team.
i think kenny, ( maybe due to a lack of wingers) prefers the 3 center backs with wing backs for width, so i see benzema coming in to a front 3 with carroll through the middle and suarez and benzema either side. a good defensive midfielder like m'vila or some one like that to protect the back 3 at all times with gerrard and mereiles, i think adam will be looked at as a cheaper option to add creativity , a left back, marveux the most likely.
a rebuild takes time and won't be finished in this summer window, but the first 11 will look alot different and be really attacking. to play 4 4 2 would be very expensive, 2, 20m wingers, a quality striker £20m as back up, a creative £10m and defensive £15m midfielder and left back £free, £85m may be a little bit to much to ask in the summer, but if marveux or taiwo both free, benzema £20m, adam £8m m'vila £15m. £43, i think we should be happy with that. we should pull in half of that through sales in aquilani, jovanovic, maxi, ngog and the rest of the dead wood, a smaller spend, a smaller squad but quality over quantity,
what do you think ed? {Ed001's Note - I think you are right about the way to go, in terms of quality over quantity, we have kids that need games and they are much better than the deadwood anyway.}

We should buy Elijero Elia Adam Johnson(both wingers), Michel Bastos(Lb) & Nikolas Bendter. Also heard Real Madrid r going 2 offer Kaka for Steven Gerrard. Plz post it & also expres ur view ed. {Ed002's Note - There was a chance to buy Elia in January but Liverpool chose not to follow-up on the player due to the price quoted. It seems possible that he may be considered again in the summer. Adam Johnson would be an excellent buy but it does not seem to be on the cards is Ashley Young is bought. Bastos is a possibility. I am doubtful about an exchange of Kaka for Gerrard.}

Ed wiv all the talk of strikers comin in wouldn't you prefer to have BOJAN than benzema for me bojan is pure quality and would get into any team in the world apart from barcelona

BOJAN-17M
YOUNG-14M
MARTINEZ-15M
CISSOKHO-12M
MARVAUX-FREE
SAKHO-12M

What you think ed how many of these would be gettable and do you think we could blag BOJAN to join us

{Ed002's Note - I am the Ed who is not convinced that Benzema has all but signed. Bojan would be a good addition but, even if Barcelona agreed to sell, he would simply be moving to another club that cannot give him assurances of first team starting roles - the reason he would be leaving. As such, I think Bojan is unlikely. As for the others, I expect that Marveaux will happen and, although I am not convinced by the player, it seems that Young may happen as well. Cissokho seems unlikely. Sakho will certainly be moving in the summer and Arsenal, AC Milan, Napoli and Lyon already appear interested.

what about javi martinez ?

{Ed002's Note - Bilbao will not be looking to sell - so perhaps only a remote chance that he would be available and interested in a move to Liverpool.}

There's going to be no improvement in this team when the likes of Gerrard, Carragher, Ngog just swan back in when there's a vacancy.
Two are past there sell by date, and the other's a waste of time.
Although we lost, one of our best performances from the midfield came at Spurs away (no Gerrard).
Are we now a Gerrard/ Carrgher team come not may, or does KK have the cojones to look to the future?
If its Gerrard/ Carrgher the game is up.
.Jamie is getting on no question. But would you say leave him out? He is experience, and as seen on Sunday he is teaching Wilson Kelly. Every team need elders to give the experience on the field, Shame on you to speak so low of them anyway. Jamie could have walking sticks and I'd still have him in the team/ sqaud, he organizers the defense and passes the passion on others to learn and build, or should have we had skertal being the teacher last Sunday?

we need both in the team, but only at there best, carra fit an ready to bleed for us an gerrard goin for blood an thunder

- - -

I suspect nobody would benefit from learning from Carragher's example on Sunday. He looked as though he needed crutches at times. He has played extremely well in the odd game (like Chelsea) but has been very inconsistent, playing without speed (of thought or deed) and is so close to giving away penalties wrestling with opposition forwards in the box.

Inclusion in the team should be based on merit alone. Blood and thunder, YES, damp sqibb, NO. Can we get Ayala back from Derby before the end of the season?

AND it is an ABSOLUTE DISGRACE that either Ashley Cole or Rooney should be playing tonight (and Rooney shouldn't be playing at Anfield either! !

Pretty unfair in my opinion.

are you for real, KK has started using more youth than the previous two managers. If you read what Rodolfo Borrell said when he joined liverpool than you might understand better why there isn't the youth coming through as fast as we would like.

Why are posters concentrating on possible striking options? We shipped three goals against one of the lowest scoring teams in the premiership because the centre of our midfield and defence was full of holes. We need a world class central defender to replace Jamie who we all love but is too slow to react these days and the inconsistens Skrtel. We could also do with someone like m'vila (spelling?) to add a bit of solidity and bite to midfield.

Question. Why buy Andy Carrol for $35m if the club know they are going to get Benzema in the summer.

Carrol was injured at the time. You'll get 2months of playing time from Carrol for a inflated price tag.

The information about Benzema just doesn't stack up. Why would he sit on the bench.

Why buy Andy Carroll? Umm. . .
1-English
2-21y/ o
3-Proven goal scorer in EPL
4-Long term investment
5-Big, strong dominant forward
6-Excellent in the air
7-Gives any defender a hard time

Benzema if interested obviously knows who he has to compete with for a spot and is willing to take that on to be part of the Liverpool SQUAD.

We never paid $35m for Caroll, and name me a top side that does not have three top strikers? Three are need in case of injury, to rotate and for different styles of play, but surely this is obvious?

I think Liverpool will end up buying Carlton Cole in the summer for £8m. He seems to be surplus for requirements at west ham.

Another English Player (Adams, Scotish, Young, English, Cole, English, Parker English)

I think that would make more sense. Liverpool have a real lack of english players and it will help fill the quota.

Mate. r u seriously having a laugh - cole is surplus to requirements at west ham. so we should sign him. think that statement says it all. poor player at best

**********************************
Gerrard, Johnson, Carra, J Cole, Spearing, Jones are all home-grown. Plus other first team players who are in the under-21 category such as Carroll and Kelly. If we buy Young (which looks likely), not only will Carlton Cole and Scott Parker still not be good enough for LFC, they will not be needed for any quota.

Please remember, the "quota" is not a minimum requirement of home-grown players, but a restriction on foreign players. We could register one home-grown player - it would mean we can only have a squad of 18 players over 21 years old.

This is why we don't buy too many English players. They're all terrible. Cole is one of the worst strikers to have ever walked the earth, though he is having his best season at the moment: having scored 5 goals.
Parker is one of those players who only plays at relegation-threatened teams, he failed miserably at Chelsea and even failed back when Newcastle were a midtable team. Plus, would you like some 31 year-old cockney, greasy-haired no-gooder strolling around the pitch lamenting about not being the biggest fish in the pond.
Ashley Young is good, but not anything more. He's pacy and can beat a defender and has scored in one season double the amount of goals that Carlton Cole scored in his previous best season. His end product is suspect at times and he seems to have an ego.
Adam is Scottish, so you can't compare.

These are the signings I believe we will make:
Benzema
Young
Adam
M'Vila
Kjaer

I believe we would then see a 4-3-3 with Benzema able to fit in anywhere in the front line and Adam rotating with M'Vila, Meireles a and Gerrard.
Also I see a real focus on blooding youth with this quality, as opposed to all together under pressure ala Northampton or Europa League.

Ed, with financial fair play rules to come into full affect in 2012, its quite possible that the summer transfer window could be something of the likes we havnt seen before. I'm pretty sure the club and NESV are aware of this and it could by a situation of buy now with dollars outside of revenue streams rather than be limited. John Henry talked about stagnant revenue streams and the willingness to pay more wages if the revenue is increased. Based on this I think that it is plausible that a number of quality youngsters could be bought. The likes as suggested of Benzema etc. Your thoughts? {Ed001's Note - we are looking to buy, but also to get rid of a number of high earners who aren't performing, such as Cole.}

G-Johnson-Agger- -Carra- - - Kelly

That will prob be the starting lineup. Maybe Ashley Young and Charlie Adams will come in.

I think they will need another Target man for Andy Caroll. It will have to be someone that is happy sitting out for half the season because i think Carrol will be first choice. So i would of thought the 4th striker would be a up and coming young striker. Someone with time that is willing to develop with the team, but has the natural raw talent. (size and strength)

Ed, just checking out Benzema's stats.
His scoring record with Lyon he started a bit slowly, but his average was a goal every other game for a couple of seasons, give or take.
For Real, his scoring average per game has dropped to less than 1 in 3 games. Is he only coming on as a sub, and thus not getting much game time?
And would you agree with the suggestion that he is a very good quality striker, but not world class?
Thing is we need quality strikers as backup, right?
What's your take on his likely performance for LFC in the prem, if Macca is right and he signs? {Ed001's Note - he was mostly used as a sub before Higuain got injured, then he got a few games and scored a lot of goals. Now Kaka is back and Adebayor has come in he is back to being mainly on the bench. He will score goals if we get him, but he is a bit on the lazy side and will provide little else.}

{Ed002's Note: As I have said previously, funding will come from the club primarily. This may mean the money comes from player sales, increased revenue, or perhaps the savings made from not needing to spend £40M per annum on interest payments. I am sure that the owners will be willing to add from their own funds as necessary.}

1 final question mate, is it your understanding that benzema is very unlikely to join?

LFC-IRE

{Ed002's Note - It would appear that Macca and I have a different opinion on the matter of Benzema. He suggests it is all but done, and I think that, even though there may be interest, it remains very unlikely.}
