(Let's forget about the Cups for a few moments)

Looking like we'll finish 8th in the league, which on it's own would mean we would be without European football next season. Considering the objective was to get back in the Champions League, the team have performed well below expectations. Changes must be made!

RedSG

More changes in the boardroom today RedSG mate. Mr Henry has sacked 2 more. Me thinks there could be a few more to go. FSG are not happy bunnies and are not afraid to wield the axe.

They are axing the wrong people though.

Who are they sacking and why are they the wrong ones? I would like to be more informed on these things.

Brian from Birmingham

Whats the point in sacking the backroom staff when our manager himself is incompetent n clueless?

This will probably be jumped on by all you Liverpool supporters telling me this is total rubbish, but here goes.
I am a Blackpool supporter but I have a business contact in the town who is a Liverpool season ticket holder. He has given me a few bits of information over the last twelve months or so regarding the Blackpool /Liverpool connection all of which I heard from him before I heard them anywhere else.
eg that Tom Ince and Gerardo Bruna were tied up with the Charlie Adam deal.
that Jonjo Shelvey was coming on loan.
that Danny Wilson was coming on loan.
one that didn't materialise was that a young lad, a striker, who Ian Holloway liked the look of was coming on loan. Can't remember the name but an English lad of ,Ithink, Congolese descent possibly called Hentoc or something but KK decided he wasn't ready to come on loan.
Anyway what he is now telling me is that IF BLACKPOOL GET PROMOTED Charlie Adam ' will be
coming back on loan' And also that Andy Carroll coming on loan 'is not out of the question'. Do you eds have any views on this. I can genuinely say that previous information passed on has not been too far wide of the mark. {Ed003's Note - I too live in Blackpool and I can only guess your business contact extracts money from you at palm reading sessions on the prom or you have dealings with the laughing policeman in the pleasure beach,the former is not to be trusted and the latter speaks for itself}

Why not loan Andy Carroll to Blackpool.

Only problem is that Blackpool don't pay more than £5,000 per high earner. So how would they afford a £70,000 a week player.

The reason Carroll would be loaned out, is because his wages cost the club and he needs playing time. £4million for the year. So I don't see blackpool paying £4m per player.

They might do, if they get enough play-off money, but the club at the moment doesn't have any money. They will struggle to pay the current lot their bonuses like usual.

You have to remember that the chairman pocked the charlie Adams money when the club went down. So don't expect them to help. The chairman other businesses where in administration before they won promotion to premiership.

No name,I dont think money is a problem at all for Blackpool after the owners took there divident of £11m they still left £21m in the bank that is even before this years parachute payment and what was left from the charlie Adam deal which was well documented from the start that Belekon would get his original payment back CA would get his slice and Ollie would get a tiny percentage as is in his contract, the chairman 'pocketed' nothing, one of his businesses went into admin as part of a personal reason which was quickly sorted through his actions and the top players earn £10k plus bonuses,I do feel the need to swear at you because I think you have a strange tendency for wearing a white shirt with a sheep on it but I wont because you would only blame ADHD for it.

Miss Helter Skelter

Top earners might get paid £10k a week, but you can count them on one hand (one figure lol) but average earners are around £5k a week. Even at £10k that's 500k a year for top earner. Carrol makes £4m a year. C Adams makes £3m a year. Would they be worth the combined first team wage package? How would that effect the rest of the club players. If you can pay Carroll £4m for the year then why not your own Top Striker. A club like Blackpool would never be able to afford the wages of Carroll or C Adams. Liverpool simply pay them too much.

A club like Blackpool would never break their wage structure. Blackpools Average Attendance 11,414 and a player like Carroll or Adams would bankrupt the club.

Plus Premiership money was ear-marked for stadium improvements. £11million Dividend is unheard of in any failing business apart from barclays.

Owen Oyston paid himself £11m while Blackpool were relegated. staggering £11 million in remuneration for the season that ended with the club's relegation back to the Championship.

Malcolm Clarke, the chairman of the Football Supporters' Federation, said: 'It defies credibility that this is a reasonable remuneration for one club director in a single year. This makes some of the bankers' bonuses almost look like small change"

"Football clubs are community assets and it's inappropriate for anyone to use them as a vehicle for payouts of anything approaching this magnitude"

That remuneration smashes every pay record for a non-player in English football and puts Blackpool's majority shareholder among the global game's highest earners for a single football season, whether it is players, managers or club executives.

The sum equates to earnings of £211,538 a week and only Wayne Rooney, understood to be on a basic deal worth around £200,000 a week at Manchester United would come close to Malcolm Clarke,

Fans: 'There's an argument that a club can do what they like with the football clubs money but it's excessive and will be completely unacceptable to many football fans, who expect club-generated money to go back into the club.'

Blackpool Player Wage Bill comes to £9.6m for the year
Ian Holloway Manager is paid £400,000 a year.

Back to my original point Carrol would cost you £4m year + C Adams £3m for the year. Something Blackpool can't afford.

And your Chairman is Corrupt. FACT

Blackpool are so rich, that they had to be taken to tribunal by Charlie Adam, captain of Blackpool during the Premier League year 2010, took his Blackpool employers to a tribunal to force the payment of a £25,000 bonus that should have kicked in when Blackpool guaranteed their Championship status in 2009-10.

Ha Ha

Paul McCartney

Blackpool's coffers will fill again this year whether the club win promotion or not “ they are enjoying the first year of massively increased parachute payments from the Premier League's £3.5bn 2010-13 TV deal: £16m for each of the first two seasons after relegation, £8m for two after that. [Karl Oyston] does not think, therefore, that in fact the club will need any of the £11m back for the training ground, which he believes will cost around £5m, an upgrade from the ragged Squires Gate site

£16m 2012
£16m 2013
£8m 2014
£8m 2015

Yet the player have to make do with 3rd rate equipment and training ground. Expect the chairman to take another £11m payment next year.lol

Is it something that may even be repeated this fiscal year with turnover likely to exceed costs significantly once more - with £16m of parachute payments and player wages likely to have fallen, a pre-tax profit (director payments excepted) of around £10m is highly imaginable - in fact when net transfer income is taken account it may well be closer to £15m. Will there be another large director salary for 'tax reasons' in the 2011/12 accounts?

One of Blackpool's biggest rivals in last season's relegation battle were Wigan Athletic, and while the Latics have had the benefit of several years in the top flight, they paid over £39m in salaries, with no director remuneration. West Brom, who won promotion at the same time as Blackpool, had a wage bill in 10/11 in excess of £38m. Investing in the playing squad to the extent their rivals did would perhaps be going a little too far - although the club would still more or less have broken even if the £11m director payment had not been made - but competing with clubs with wage bills more than three times larger showed how difficult life was made for Ian Holloway.

This is how your Chairman saved his ass from Administration.

5. Why was the old Tangerine Nite Spot land sold to an Oyston-owned company in 2007/2008 for £650,000 and bought back during 2010/11 for £6.5m?

Another contentious issue emerging out of the latest set of accounts was a land deal involving the old Tangerine Nite Spot land on Bloomfield Road opposite the South stand - now of course the site of a Travelodge. It was a controversial, although little known, deal when the land was first sold by Segesta Ltd (then Blackpool Football Club Properties Ltd) to a company owned by Owen Oyston. In fact, although the deal had been agreed years earlier, the sale of the land didn't go through until 2007/08 due to concerns believed to be related to whether the land was being sold at fair market value at £650,000.

Not long after the land was sold to Owen Oyston, a hotel was built on the land, presumably on a long-term lease agreement with Travelodge. Now, less than five years later, Segesta Ltd has bought the land back from Owen Oyston for £6.5m - paying 10 times what it was originally sold for. A deposit of £4,899,000 was paid during 2010/11 with the final balance being completed in August 2011. One has to question how this deal actually benefits the club. Effectively the club has paid Owen Oyston £5.85m to develop the land.

He is nasty piece of work who is milking to club for every penny.

6. Will revenue from rental of the Travelodge benefit the club?

Aside from the transactions involving the sale and re-purchase, many other questions remain regarding this land deal. One important detail is to note how the purchase was funded. Blackpool Football Club Ltd was the major revenue-generating side of the group in 10/11, mainly due to the central Premier League television deal which pocketed 'Pool just over £39m. The football side loaned the properties side, Segesta, over £11.5m in 10/11 which was used to fund investments in Bloomfield Road itself and, it would appear, the acquisition of the Travelodge land.

Now that the land has been brought back into the group, there is the little matter of the income generated from rental to Travelodge and where that goes. Clearly the club has already missed out on around five years of rental, but what happens to this income stream now is unclear. It is to be hoped that rentals as of the date the land changed hands will go to Segesta Ltd, but how will this benefit the football side of the business? One scenario might be that the rental will go towards paying off the loan Segesta took from the football side, with the full repayment likely to be well in excess of 10 years. But what would happen once the parent company pays off the loan? Will the football side continue to receive income from the land rental, or will it then go to Segesta, who may, or may not, invest it in the club's infrastructure?

7. Why was this investment in the Travelodge land deemed to be a more urgent priority than other capital investments?

Clearly one of the most exciting things about winning promotion to the Premier League in 2009/2010, aside from seeing Blackpool compete at the highest level for the first time in 40 years, was the potential legacy that could be earned in terms of infrastructure. The vast sums of money should have ensured that the infrastructure at the club would be first class, especially as it was made clear that investment in the playing squad would be kept to extremely modest levels. Initial signs were surprisingly positive - the East stand, although not an ideal long term solution, rose quickly and was only a couple of weeks behind a very tight and demanding schedule. The rust issue affecting the North and West stands was addressed, the club shop refurbished and a new electronic turnstile system was introduced.

However, plenty of improvements were overlooked too. Roof cladding under the walkway behind the West stand is missing or in a poor condition. Faded seats in the North and West stands were not replaced as promised. The Seasider bar took an age to be completed, not opening until almost a year after the South stand itself opened. Required investment in the pitch was not forthcoming and undersoil heating has never been installed. Meanwhile, supporters have had to reach into their own pockets to purchase signage for the stadium and raise funds themselves for the Jimmy Armfield statue.

And perhaps most importantly of all, a training ground fit for purpose seems no nearer to completion. Yet despite a lack of advancement in these areas, money was ringfenced from the first year of the Premier League windfall to buy a plot of land which will have no immediate impact for the good of the club. Was it really the most sensible use of the money at that time?

8. Why is there still no tangible progress on a new training ground?

The claims from Karl Oyston that the money paid into Zabaxe Ltd isn't gone, and can be used if and when necessary for investments such as a new training ground, ring hollow. The simple fact is that a new training ground is years, if not decades, overdue. Ian Holloway, who has not come out of this episode particularly well by saying that fans have no right to question what goes on at the club they love, was a big advocate of a new training ground when he first joined the club in 2009, even going so far as to say "We are never going back to our training ground again. Every player this club has ever had hates it, and every player we have is frightened of it. It is a horrible environment to work in." Just the sort of area where one would expect immediate investment upon winning the Premier League jackpot then, right?

Sadly that does not appear to be the case and almost two years down the line from Blackpool's Wembley win, the club are not even as far as submitting a planning application yet, let alone having facilities ready and worthy of a Premier League or Championship team. One has to wonder what is taking so long to replace the antiquated facilities once blasted by the team's manager as a "hell hole". Communication is again the club's worst enemy with no real update at any point other than to say that they are "working on it". The real question is: are they? Is there an appointed project manager? Do they have a plot of land ready to purchase or lease? What are the timescales?

Sadly none of this has been made clear and thus supporters are left to assume the worst. Karl Oyston has been open and on-the-record about the fact he doesn't understand why a new training ground is important to fans, and this attitude only serves to antagonise the supporter base further. Regardless of what Karl Oyston thinks, working conditions do have an impact on happiness in the workplace and with the resources that should be available, a modern training ground should be another string to the bow alongside the manager and the team spirit when attracting players, rather than being something of which to be ashamed.

9. Why has progress been so slow on the South East corner?

Compared to the near-glacial progress of a new training ground, the South East corner has positively shot up, but it has still taken an unacceptable amount of time to complete. Construction work started in the summer and it was initially believed the corner stand would be ready for the start of the season, or shortly thereafter. Fastforward to March 2012 and the project has now been ongoing for nine months, with an opening date still not in sight. With less than two months of the regular season remaining, it's likely that the stand won't be operational until next season, meaning a corner stand adding just 500 seats to the overall capacity will have taken a whole year.

In order to understand the thinking behind this, it's perhaps worth examining whether the stand was built for football reasons, or ancillary purposes. Clearly the new corner stand will incorporate the reception for the new Blackpool FC Hotel Ltd, the manager of this venture being a third generation member of the Oyston dynasty, Sam. The corner stand will also incorporate a fire escape for the hotel, the lack of which has prevented the facilities in the South stand being used for matchday hospitality. Just as with the Seasider bar, it appears that the club are in no rush to complete facilities deemed non-essential, whereas the East stand construction flew by as necessitated by Premier League standards.

However, it's important to remember what the knock-on effect of this significant delay is for certain fans. Many supporters had season tickets for the East stand but with construction work ongoing have had to be relocated all season, an inconvenience that shouldn't be overlooked. The building work has also restricted the capacity of Bloomfield Road, with many floating supporters put off when struggling to buy tickets together. When the East stand was constructed, workmen were always visible on site but the South East corner has been a stop-start build with seemingly little in the way of effective project management - an Oyston hallmark.

10. Why has the club managed various construction projects through Oyston-owned companies?

In addition to the £11m payment to Zabaxe, and the £6.5m Travelodge land deal, money also seems to be leaving the club through a variety of other Oyston-backed companies. Promenade Construction Ltd, Promenade Interiors Ltd and Promenade Developers Ltd are three of these such companies and appear to be responsible for project managing any re-development at Bloomfield Road. The question is, why is an Oyston-owned company necessary as a go-between for the club and sub-contractors doing the work? The common belief is that all the work is sub-contracted, in which case what expertise do these companies, whose sole purpose seems to be working on football club-related projects, possess to add value, and presumably earn a cut for themselves?

It is a matter of simple economics that the more middle men involved in a particular deal, the more expensive a project will be. Why does Segesta not simply sub-contract the work itself? The current set up does nothing to offer transparency and feeds the idea that these various construction projects end up costing more than they should do. Furthermore, when these Oyston-owned companies have a proven track record of significant delays and long construction times, why does the club keep going down this route if not for financial benefit of the Oyston family? If a middle man is to be used, surely it would be worth the premium of employing an external experienced project management company or contractor to ensure work is completed as quickly and as professionally as possible?

Most fans recognised the fact that so many Oyston companies were registered at Bloomfield Rd that it could only mean one thing, they were diverting funds from the football side into their own coffers. Quite frankly, given our level of success most turned a blind eye to this sequestration of footballing money. It was the blatant plundering of huges funds, just disclosed, that has awoken supporters ire. Nobody begrudges the Oystons a fair return on their 'investment' although the level of that investment is vague to say the least. We all thought that our year in the promised land would protect us from the fate of Portsmouth/Rangers/Port Vale etc. Now it appears that we will be back to where we were before the season in the premier league just as soon as the parachute payments run out with pretty much nothing to show for it.

So you agree, money isn't a problem then? ;). praise the lord for copy and pasting.

just wondering eds.... but if rein a does leave why dont we just play doni. he was great at roma. is great here (when we dont make things hard for him) hes just behind reina in the pecking order. but if reina leaves.. which i doubt nor do i want him to, why would we buy a new one {Ed001's Note - personally I would give him a chance too, but that is not our decision to make.}

If Reina left, I doubt we could attract a good up and coming keeper to replace him so we'd probably have to play Doni anyway.

Yann Sommer, Hugo Lloris, and Rene Adler (free) are the sort of players I would replace Reina with

RedSG

Doni doesn't seem up to it. Plus he has a big mouth. I'd rather give Brad-Jones a chance. At least he is a nicer guy. They are both rubbish keepers. {Ed001's Note - keepers need a big mouth, they need to organise the defence.}

Neither are good enough for first choice Roma message boards were delighted when Doni left very error prone but i cant really see reina leaving he loves the club, has a long term contract and knew this year wasnt going to be that successful as he quoted it is a transitional year and he didnt leave then so why would he leave now?

Can't be bothered going over all te negatives tonight. But I would like to mention Sterling he looks a cracking young player who made the so called Furst Teamers look like fringe players! Should it have not been the other way around?

See! Look how good sterling looks because of his dribbling and speed, this is what we were crying out for last summer (just a more 'first team ready' version), but instead we ignored this and bought players who clearly dont posses these attributes, any one can see that... oh wait thats wrong because not only couldnt Kenny and comoli but also a large amount of fans on here, who thought they were all world beaters a year ago.

E.H LFC

Couldn't agree more..........The crowd only came to life once young Raheem came on. He looked hungry for the ball and put in a couple of fantastic crosses.
I can't really find anything good to say about the rest of them so I won't say anything at all except it was one of the worst games of football I've seen in my entire life!

Kk wants to look at our form at home , he had a go at the fa for taking fans for granted , i think he and the players do as well.

Did any ov the edds check the photos out and can you tell me any of the signatures please. STEMLOCC1 {Ed001's Note - I haven't had a chance, but my deciphering of signatures is useless. I used to get the signature card every birthday and xmas, I never used to be able to figure out who was which signature.}

Ive had the same problem in the past.

You know the players in the squad, put them in eBay one by one (i.e. ;Steven Gerrard signed...' see what each signature looks like and match them up with those on the shirt.

Looks like Liverpool need an overhaul of players this summer.

To go:
Aurelio
Hendo
Downing
Adam
Shelvey
Spearing
Kuyt

You can Maxi that list

You fool.... Hendo and Shelvey will not be going any where and you can add Downing and probably Adam to that the not going anywhere list. These players will remain.

I agree with everyone apart from Shelvey and Henderson, still think they will both come good with the right coaching and players around them.

Yeh and that B team contained, our main striker, our main centre back, our main holding midfielder, our right back that everyone has been calling for, the two midfielders that are supposed to be the next gerrard as in shelv and hendo, prob one our most experianced players in kuyt, the goal scoring leftsided player everyone wants out there in maxi. Yeh B team with what 9 FIRST team p[layers of some sort, yeh there a b team a bleading inept, uncareing, load of dross , and i wish i could tell them that, they have no fight ,no spiret, and no brlieve, they just think oh im at liverpool now , iv made it, WRONG, youcan all be shiped outm and probly will and good ridence to you.

edd01 surley u must admit carrol had a good game tonight and i for one think he must start sat winner against blackburn and everton says he is playing well and good performance tonight on the scraps he was fed also u cant through all those players together and expect a performance how many times has this team played with each other this season none {Ed001's Note - on the ball, yes, off the ball, no. He doesn't pressure the defence when they have possession enough for me.}

Carroll is very lazy at times,he should be giving defenders nightmares, henderson and spearing are rubbish, downing is the invisable man(nowere to be seen),kuyt is finished the only thing he brings is stamina he cant pass, shoot, head, tackle??,adam he should have stayed at blackpool and kenny thinks he is still in the 80s

Where did you learn to play football!
Carroll is crap! Sorry for being so blunt;
would be happy if I never saw him in a red shirt again.

Hi eds and everyone, yes the performance tonight was very under par, and the players lacked ideas and belief and to want to win. The other side of the coin is fulham had their regular team while we had we had our second team out, and the goal was an OWN GOAL so calm down a bit.
KK had to keep the better squad for the cup final, yes I also think we should still be winning, but there a lot of teams who would like to be in a final in stead of beking in fifth or sixthe like chelsea. Yes there is no excuse for a lack lustre performance like today where watching was a torture, but you can't have it all. It has been a frustrating unlucky season, let us look forward to the next one .
KK should have a word though with the lads though.
Sterling was awesome he was lively and had a bit of silva and sturridge mixed.
what do you think ed001 or ed022?
hibsylfc {Ed001's Note - I was just disappointed with the lack of passion, when Spearing closed Dembele down, it was easy for Dembele to just go past him into space because no one else was pressuring the ball. There was little pressure from the front, Carroll doesn't have the mobility to chase here, there and everywhere like Suarez. Aurelio was too far away from their players, constantly, giving them so much space to play the ball in. They were playing crosses from the right back and there was not one Liverpool player within ten yards of him, despite the fact he was nearly level with the edge of our box.}

Wheres the 'Agree with Ed' button?

Spearing is a good lad and gives 100% but I've always found myself wishing he was an attacking central midfield player, as opposed to a defensive central midfield player, where his stature is always going to restrict him to being average or less. The old maxim of a good littlin will never beat a good bigun applies in Spearings position.
Where as his stature if he was a skilful attacking mid wouldn't matter.

as a liverpool supporter, i got to say that the fa cup final is the game that will decide what will happen to kenny. but in my opinion, the players are not helping him. if we lose this weekend, we will get so much stick from the media. we got to win the fa cup. wigan beat us at anfield for the first time in the premier league, westbrom beat us at anfield for the first time in over 50 years, and now fulham beat us at anfield for the first time in the premier league. what a joke this current liverpool team have become.

01 May 2012 22:39:29
Ed01

What did they have to play for?, shall I give you the answer to that?

LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB AND THE 40,000 people that paid to go!.

MJ
{Ed001's Note - yes, I know that, but they clearly didn't care, that was the point I was making.}

40.000 fans sounded like 40, its official, the largest library in the epl.and its sounded like that for quite a few years now.lol,i think sound is the wrong word, anfield light hum sounds more appropriate lol

The players should give us something to cheer about then,
the line up did not fill me with any cheer at alland im not going to stand and cheer players that dont give a F#@k.

The players and kk have made the fans the way they are.

I think the owners will have to bring in new management before they release any transfer funds this summer. The worst players in our team are the ones Kenny bought. Commoli seems to have taken the blame, and been sacked, but even Kenny has been saying all along that he has the final say on transfers. So, if this is true, Kenny picks the team, decides on formation and tactics, positions of players, who the subs should be, when they play and where. The owners know that they can't trust Kenny with any more funds to buy us more mid to bottom of the table quality players. So I think Kenny will accept an ambassadorial role and a new manager will be sought, with the promise of a decent transfer budget to get us back to where we rightfully belong, top of the league and regular champions league. Personally, I would like to see Van Gaal get the job. Who would you all prefer as our new manager?

We don't 'rightfully' belong anywhere. History gives us no entitlement. It has to be earned and we aint doing that in the slightest. This is an illusion pedalled by misty eye fans who are stuck in the past. The game has change. FFS.. Man City might win the title.

01 May 2012 22:33:52
These so called Liverpool football players are getting paid thousands of pounds a week, when they play like that they should get fined or have have their wages cut, hit them were it hurts cause that's all that seems to matter to them, have they no shame and Dalglish has the audacity to come out every week and defend these money grabbing pretenders. At the end of every season each player's wages should be re evaluated based on their performances during the season cause i cant believe there's players in that team getting 60+ grand a week. What a joke!

Everyone is saying that every player was bad but I thought Carroll worked his boots off. He was constantly causing a problem and just had no one around him to support him. I thought he played great today.

Red Rat

Lol he did run around like a donkey I agree but is not a world class player. He really shouldnt be at our club. When he plays we play the long ball. Awfull football. He does not close the defenders down enough. He only runs when he thinks he is capable of getting that specific player at the time. All classy strikers close down all the time as everyone knows the first line of defence is your striker. Carrol unfortunetly cant do this and he only becomes an important member when we cross the ball into the box for him to head. However, as this season has shown the lack of goals KK tatctics doesnt have us getting into the box and when Carrol wins the ball there is only one player if that in the box....hence why we cant score.

But bless him he did run round a lot today...he must be finally getting fitter :)

I think in honesty we've only had a few actually bad performances this Season when we've completely deserved what we've got, rather than hammering the team yet losing 1-0, like West Brom. Today was a poor game, HOWEVER;

Remember this is to the run up of an FA Cup final against Chelsea who are in fine form. We played our second team tonight and yes, we should have been better but a lot of the players have only been at the club for this first season and are nowhere near as good as our first team. I believe we'll make some good signings in the Summer and we'll have a better season next year.

One question though.
All the guys moaning about tonight's result, will you also be the guys claiming to be the best supporters if we win the FA Cup? Not a good result, but get behind the team and have faith.

Thanks.
Ell.

Been behind the team all season and 5 home wins 8th in the league yes I will be happy if we win the fa cup but I will still be praying kenny leaves and carp carrol goes with him.

Come on lad! We had over £80 mill on the pitch but we still lost. Kenny don't know what hes doing!

I think it's incredibly disrespectful to 'pray' such a legend leaves the club; he's done so much for LFC.

I personally like him as a Manager. Yes, some signings I don't agree with but moaning about it does nothing. I believe he'll make some great signings and the players we've been linked with (From Macca's info) are definitely impressive.

Poor performance tonight, but we have been very unlucky during the season. I'm genuinely looking forward to next season, I think we'll do great. If we don't, I'm fully open to be called whatever you like! :)

Thanks.
Ell.

Boring to watch, To predictable, No pace, no creativity, no passion, no flair, no skill, no player to unlock a defence.

Honestly we have to spend on TOP quality players this summer to catch up with NEWCASTLE, let alone the others.

Also was Aurelio injured? Why did kenny bring Enrique on for him, didn't understand that substitution at all!

Aurelio has only played like 3 games this season.. he was obviously tired!

BthekingB {Ed001's Note - I think it was more because he gave their players far too much time and space on the ball. I know he lacks space, but that is no reason to stand so far away from Duff that he was giving him time to control the ball, turn, face up and then run at him.}

01 May 2012 22:11:02
The highest we could have finished was seventh, so there is nothing to play for, especially with Europa League in the bag.

So why did we have over £80m worth of players on the pitch then???

Play for the fans thats what they pay to see .

What a waste of time no spark no pace I have seen more movement in an old persons home.carrol kuyt spearing maxi fabio A should all be moved on after that.Spearing just is not good enough, kuyt has passed his best maxi never rated even when he was socring goals and carrol well he is not Liverpool waste of 35m falling over like a girl his touch is a joke and passing is shocking dont even get me started on his finishing.that was the core of the team today.kenny should of gone a long time ago any other manager would of been sacked by now the only thing keeping him in a job is the fans that live in the past and chant his name as king.Mid table team well done kenny you can keep the carling cup and maybe the fa cup no champions league and closer to relagation than second! SICKENING. Alfiedean.

01 May 2012 22:09:59
I ask this, how can this squad actually improve, there are just too many cr*p players in it.
There's no depth, no pace and no creativity.
Short of selling 10 or 12 players, honestly what can be done.
I would far rather have a team that can win games at home (and spend money on that) than fork out hundreds of millions on a new stadium, and not fill it.
We are exactly were we deserve to be in the league table.
Truly a average team.

¢ Sack the manager
¢ Move on as much deadwood as we can
¢ Get a manager with a footballing brain
¢ Buy foreign players

Get a manager with a footballing brain? Kenny Dalglish has always been renowned, esspecially as a player, as having one of THE greatest footballing brains ever in the british game!

Poor raheem prob came on tonight and was prob thinking to himself where is suso when yah need him. Next pl game I would play them both for us the league is over and I can't explain why I just have a feeling about suso he looks to have a bit more about him upstaires than some of our midfield

Is Suso eligible I know he was sent off against United does that count

Should never had let benetiz leave. On a different planet than dalglish.

Dalglish does not have a clue, however the fans will stick with him because they are being ruled by their hearts and not their head!

Ah well it is Werner and Henry problem, not mine.

Good luck you two.

Oh someone mentioned Benitez again after a defeat, yawn...

Message to all you keyboard moaners, stop moaning about how quiet it was tonight if you want to pay your money get along and make some noise yourselves. It was pretty dire tonight and hard to get enthusiastic but we paid our money not just logged on to a website.
If,and I know its a big if ,we manage to win the Cup on saturday (no doubt without your vocal support) please dont come on here saying how great it was after all the crap you come out with after every defeat.
We dont need you as supporters, just pay for your broadband find a site to watch on and go and bury your heads.
I will be paying to watch my team whatever happens, success or failure, because over the last forty years the team have given me so much pleasure on the whole they owe me nothing and I am proud to be a REAL Liverpool fan.

Derek

Derek mate I'd love to go but simply can't
Afford it. I had been offered a fa cup final
Ticket but at £135 i couldn't afford it I was gutted... I see your point but its not easy for everyone... I love Liverpool fc and will support them as best I can...
Rickblfc....

The team is s**t there is nothing else to add.they go in the media week in week out saying things will improve, they have not done good enough, the players will come good yet week in week out it is the same old story, you buy crap you get crap and kenny got in some crap and its you that is burying your head"wake up",even if we do win the cup i still want kenny out.

Ive been a season ticket holder for 20 odd years and Ive complained about the home support this season. The tension in the crowd must surely rub off on the players. I honestly think positive crowd involvement and a good atmosphere is vitally important. Some of the home games this season the atmosphere has been horrible, dead, tense (in a bad way) and it can only breed negativity in the players. It's probably no coincidence that we have a better away record in the league this season, a lot of the away support has been terrific. Just my opinion but I honestly think it has had a bearing on the way we have performed at home this season.

Kev7

Derek , we have been worse than rubbish this year and the home record speaks volumes. i will be at wembley on saturday and to win the fa cup would be nice , but i am worried about next season we need passion from the players and that will be reciprocated by the fans , i have my doubts with the current players and management but all i can say is come on you reds , ynwa.red mick tag

And who the heck are you Derek to monopolize this football club and say "we don't need you as supporters..". You are fortunate enough (or unfortunate since to be successful in an unjust system requires to compromise at least some aspects of your humanity) to be able to afford the tickets so do us a favour and support the team on our behalf: they feed on the energy of the crowd., unless you are a member of the prawn sandwich brigade.
Baaron von Ungern

Derek - the ignorant capitalist.

So you base/gauge your love on how much money you give to a corporation/sporting conglomerate.

Well done.

Shankly would think you were brilliant.

By your small-minded, ignorant logic Lebron James is clearly a far better LFC fan than either you or me.

Isn't he?

Oh btw - there was a global financial meltdown in case you missed it -

Based on a report in April -

13 million of the UK population of 62 million live below the poverty line.

According to the Trussell Trust, the number of people in need of emergency aid is predicted to increase, with 500,000 Britons expected to need food parcels just to survive by 2015.

Food banks which are being opened in the UK at the rate of one every four days, fed more than 60,000 British people last year, but they expect at least 100,000 in 2012.

The number of food banks in the UK has almost tripled from 79 when David Cameron came to power in 2010 to over 200.

Anastasia de Waal, a social policy advisor for think tank Civitas, said, "The food banks are an indicator of the pressures faced by people in a time of rising unemployment and changing benefits."

Food banks providing a minimum of three days emergency food and support to people experiencing crisis in the UK, have also warned that the full impact of the recent budget will start in 2013.

----------------------------------------

Maybe some people thought that spending their money on buying their kids books, food or clothes to prepare for an uncertain financial future might be a better investment than spending their money on watching a bunch of millionaires who clearly don't give a s**t about playing for us twaddle their way through a match they clearly didn't give a s**t about.

Judging by the team selection - the manager didn't seem to have winning the match high on his list of priorities either.

BJH YNWA.

Also - do the poorer in society have no right to support Liverpool?

If you are a REAL Liverpool fan - then I'm a packet of Birdseye Fish Fingers.

You're a REAL idiot. With the social awareness of a peanut - you should be ashamed of yourself.

(Sorry if the tone is a little strong eds, this one really annoyed me)

Derek your a moran, it's having fans like you why this club is still in the dark ages and why we are slowly becoming the most hated club in the prem!
Lpoolkris

Oh the great philosopher, get off your high horse stop talking rubbish. In life we all make choices mine is to watch my team whenever they play, and it annoys(much more than that but cant use those words on here)the life out of me reading criticism from idiots blaming the crowd.
The team are very poor at the moment and sadly I cant see much hope of improvement in the coming years but our hardcore support will still be there, those non attenders and keyboard fans will have disappeared and be "supporting" or moaning on another clubs page.
Derek

It doesn't take a great philosopher to say what I said - or to copy/paste an article to display a point - it took around 30 seconds.

If you are unfamiliar still with the themes I am talking about - you should read a newspaper that has more words than pictures - admittedly you should have watched the news at least once in the last 4 years - how could you not notice this stuff? But better late than never.

If the economy kicks you in the arse and you can't afford to go to games anymore - you'll likely be very sad to not be a REAL fan anymore - or would you still support LFC?

By your own logic (or lack of) - You won't be a real fan anymore.

Is that really the case? Give me an answer on that one please - so you won't be a real fan then - you said so yourself.

Stupid isn't it.

Because you and I both know that you'll still be a fan.

LFC is in your heart man.

Most of the hardcore support were priced out years ago btw - how you didn't notice is beyond me. This was one of the primary reasons for the formation of AFC Liverpool - and the change of atmosphere is another byproduct of that. (The bad form hasn't helped - 5 league wins [is it?] isn't gonna get people in the party mood, I can understand that)

You are clearly either ignorant - or you genuinely base your opinions of people - and their value as 'fans' - on how much money they have.

I'm from Ireland - and though our nations have had their troubles - I seem to have more sympathy than you for the financial plight of many of your fellow countrymen and women.

You should be ashamed.

(I doubt you are from Liverpool with your attitude btw.)

I'd also like to point out -

Even if many fans can't afford to go to the games - I'm sure a lot of them buy LFC shirts, magazines DVD's and other merchandise, gifts for family members (mugs and key-chains - we've all got them eh at some point eh!) at Christmas, subscriptions to LFC.tv - tickets to cheaper friendly games etc.

Most of these people even (try to!) raise their kids to follow the Liverpool they love, ensuring a new generation of fans will see to it that are LFC still one of the best supported sides in England - despite no league title since 1990 - in an age when kids are seduced by the big bucks of Chelsea and Man City and the regular trophy hauls of Utd etc.

So even by your 'capitalist-value' logic - they're still REAL fans and entitled to their opinions.

They play an important role - without them the club would be doomed to footballing mediocrity in an age where money certainly is important.

Anfield fits around 45k fans - so are you telling me that LFC have 45k fans? Just the ones at the game?

LFC have MILLIONS of fans. They can't all fit in you know - hence the high prices for tickets - a lot of demand.

Money is important but it's no substitute for a bond that goes beyond money. A bond passed from father to son.

Should they change the motto Derek?

"You'll never walk alone" - Isn't quite accurate/appropriate anymore.

What about:

"You'll never walk alone, unless you have a bad credit rating."

Do you really think that's the way it should be Derek? If so, then fair enough.

BJH YNWA.

ps - Say what you want - that's my heart on a plate. I have nothing more to say. But show some compassion man.

Good luck to you.

BJH
You clearly are a fishfinger with a massive chip on your shoulder.Blame everyone else for your own problems, you obviously have swallowed a book on the economic and social issues facing the country but dont have the ability to do anything about it.
I dont need your ridiculous inverted snobbery which smacks of jealousy,I am not a capitalist just someone who has worked very hard to earn a living perhaps you should try it and then join the rest of us who follow the team through thick and thin.

Derek

BJH
I was born and bred in Toxteth so you are wrong straight away.
The world economic crisis is not my doing so lets forget about that.
When I was a schoolboy with very little money I used to hitchhike to away games and since then I have managed to afford to travel to watch my team, contrary to your ill informed comments I am not a wealthy man, just a hardworking man who works many hours of overtime to fund my travels. There are many Reds from Ireland who regularly follow LFC home and away who I know are not rich wealthy men, just hardworking people who choose to spend money not bleating about how poor the economy is and crying about hard done by they are.

I suggest you stop reading about the crisis and get off your a**e and do something about it.

Derek

The impoverishment of Britain has nothing to do with Derek. If you are angry at what is happening in Britain turn your ire toward those who have made the decisions that brought Britain to this point.

This includes the Blair, Brown and Cameron governments, as well as the MP's living high on the hog.

Ed 001 ( if about) just wanted you honest opinion on a few issues. First of all kk sets out a challenge to the players to show their worth for Saturdays game. They clearly didn't turn up today and my question is how and why? I mean they are decent players yet they don't seem able to show the desire and willingness to take their chance. Kk just said as much during his post match "chat". Even the most mediocre players in our league can play above their ability so what is so wrong that so many of our team can play with such a lack of desire and effort?

Im Sure kk feels very let down (again) but could it be that he is the reason? I know this sounds strange but surely he should be able to at least motivate them to a certain degree.
(this isn't a get kenny out post btw).
For me something is seriously wrong within the squad, as I don't honestly believe that the players we have are half as bad as they are making themselves look.
Sorry about the rant but really disappointed in the severe lack if effort this evening. {Ed001's Note - I think the issue is that none of them felt it would matter, even if they had the game of their life, they don't expect to get in the cup final team. That, I feel, is a huge issue. What did they have to play for?}

LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB that's who the got to play for. If thats their attitude then sack the lot!!!

PJRED {Ed001's Note - I agree with you, that was the point I was making, they didn't seem to care enough about the club.}

Making that many changes showed that Kenny has made his mind up about a majority of his team for Saturday. Ed001 is spot on, even if they played amazingly, they felt they wouldn't get in the team.

Many talk about Kenny's fantastic man-management skills, but it is abundantly clear he wasn't able to get the best out of his players today!

RedSG

I felt really sorry watching Shelvey, he looked to me like he was genuinely trying hard and really is doing all he can to try and get into the team for the final, but he was getting such little help from anyone else that his efforts were just coming to nothing. I hope he's higher in the pecking order for the final than Henderson- not that I'm a Hendo hater, but Shelvey really deserves a shot after the last few games. In my opinion.

DP

They could have tried playing for the fans maybe. Or maybe because that's what they get paid to do. Or at least pretending like they cared as that would have been at least a little better.

I'm thinking what you're suggesting though, Ed, is the general feeling from the players that the team selection has already happened for Saturday regardless of performance and if that's the case then that's a real issue.

For me, it's not so much that we lost (I honestly didn't expect much else which is sad in and of itself) it's that we lost without much in the way of passion or concern and to a team that were themselves not very good on the night either.

Complaints aside, it does show that some of our youngsters may show promise, but they're just not good enough yet to start consistently and some of them probably need to go out on loan or be sold.

Not much positive to take from tonight, unfortunately. Hopefully we're up for it Saturday.

RDL

Carroll is actually worse than what he looks!
You look at him and you think "He'll be handful!" then you watch him play and think Wtf is going on. He's slow, falls over,is not a great header of the ball and takes that long to shift the ball on to his left foot, the chance has gone!! and so should he be gone come the Close Season.

alright boys, my view on the game.

Carroll, henderson and spearing, bloody poor. I just drove 3 hours and now driving 3 back, yet carroll couldn't be arsed to hussle 3 yards.

Anyone who says henderson might come good, he's played more than anyone this season and is still utter rubbish.

Spearing can't be a dmc, his legs are too small to tackle, players went round him like he wasn't there.

Very few positives, doni played very well, sterlings 15 mins, coates up until 70 mins and kuyt looked sharper.
Will be home at half 12 #dedication.

01 May 2012 22:05:37
Home 'support' fits nicely with the 5 home wins this season - abysmal...

Won the same as Arsenal away, and less than Blackburn at home,WTFs going on.

I agree. Ive said it before and I'll say it again. The atmosphere at home is crucial in trying to make Anfield a place where teams fear coming again. The lack of atmosphere and tension rubs off on the players and has an effect on them and the game. Yet away from home most of our support has been superb and for me it's not a coincidence that when this has happened we have had positive results and a few examples are Blackburn, Norwich and Everton.
If we want major improvement in the league next season I really believe that the home support and atmosphere are vitally important in achieving this.

Kev7

The players put the ball in the net not the fans , no matter how much support you give the current team it will fall on deaf ears.

01 May 2012 22:05:01
Hi Ed001,

Missed the game today anyway you can give me a summary? Thanks

Jatt YNWA {Ed001's Note - I am not sure what I can say without swearing, it was a poor performance all round to be honest. Fulham wanted it more, they got support forward to help out their players getting into advanced positions, we didn't. There was no pressure on the ball from us, while Fulham harried our players into mistake after mistake. The worst thing was the lack of real passion from the players, it just didn't seem to matter to them. Actually, to be fair, Doni had a decent game and kept it to one.}

Here's my summary, Jatt mate.

We were f*cking sh!t!

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Ps. Sorry for swearing.

Thank alot for that Ed001 mate, I had a bad feeling about this game because Fulham never give an easy game, and just before a cup final I thought we might not be at our best, but I was hoping it might spur some of the players to fight for a spot.....Guess it was the former.

I heard Sterling got a few minutes, was he any good? The last time I saw him was the a while ago in the reserve games against Arsenal, Everton and Villa, and he looked to have gone to the next level.

Jatt YNWA

p.s. Don't worry about it Blair Haha, doesn't look like I missed much. {Ed003's Note - He didnt get much game time like you say,he had a run on the right hand side but just ran into a defender but popped up on the left and put a couple of good crosses in,not enough time really to pass judgement but he did look lively}

Everton 4 fulham 0 , think about it we say kk is great and moynes is poor the time is up for kk he can not continue making excuse after excuse thats all he does and he relies too much on his support from the fans who sadly are blind to his shortcomings.

01 May 2012 22:04:31
Really feel Kenny got the tactics wrong today. Don't think Bellamy should've statue against Norwich because he would have been better playing for us tonight. We clearly lack a player playing off Carroll who can get onto the balls he heads down like Nolan. Don't seem to underhand what Henderson is actually offering to the team. Meireles wouldve been more productive. Some of Kennys tactual decisions have been so poor this season, definatley needs to move upstairs next season. Wouldnt mind someone young like Roberto Martinez at the helm next season. Also I've been wondering someone as highly rated as Steve Clarke surely would have some say about how the team should be set up and etc. to help out Kenny.

Hassan

I am praying kenny moves upstairs his subs are not right or to late and tatticly is poor.there is a reason why the players didn't want it and for me not to even play at your normal standard when fighting for a cup place tells you something is wrong poor man management maybe. Please leave kenny!

01 May 2012 22:04:46
When shelvy plays well it's all next gerrard well done he should play more. One bad game and it's all I always said he was t good enough. This is maybe why young players don't get used and why the team have a serious lack of confidence. Roll on next season we need a good summer and to come back fresh and without some of the mental barriers players are carrying At the min.

Shelvey ISN'T good enough, full stop. It's that simple. If we want to get back to Champion League football then we seriously need to sort out our midfield.

Spearing, Maxi, Kuyt, Shelvey & Adam just not good enough to take us forward. Henderson & Downing are good squad players at best. Gerrard and Lucas are the only two who are quality.

This needs to be addressed or I will worry for next session.

PJRED

When has Shelvey played well? Which game was it that he came on and turned things - can you remind me? Well-meaning fans and posters come and say "he played well" but they are kidding themselves and trying to be supportive. Fine - young players need that, but its not reality. He needs to go on loan and learn the game.

From what I saw, Shelvey was trying to do positive things, but they didn't come off. It says a lot about him that in position A, he managed to persuade Maxi and Downing (Experienced Internationals) that he will take the free kick to get a point in the 93rd min.

RedSG

Seriously?..

Shelter has no composure on the ball, he panics. Nt good enough. {Ed005's Note - You do realise his age? Many players tend to lack composure when on the ball especially at big clubs. If the lad gets more playing time I'm sure he'll gain that.}

While he is with liverpool I will stand by him I trust kenny he knows more than I do about football and we can all sit here saying he is clueless etc but he really isn't. I think people are quick to forget his age give him time like with Lucas he may just surprise us. A bit of optimism would be nice the negativity around the club recently has been depressing and yes I see why. I am a fan like the rest of us but I still feel quite optimistic about our future

Great just Great, well done again lads, big clear out in the summer needed badly.

01 May 2012 22:01:06
Finally kenny admitting that we were awful. The team lacked desire and is seemingly admitting that the players don't want to play for their final place, and don't really care

Maybe kenny should admit his tactics are shocking

01 May 2012 22:00:00
When you make 9 changes its very hard to ask a team to be able to play well together on first ask.So go easy. But Kenny will get his wish.Sacrifice league standing and self respect to give him a great chance of walking away from the club with 2 cup medals.Self before Club I'm afraid.
galls

Utter crap you are talking. I HATE supporters like you.

In a dualistic universe we are in, there's always a place for a summary of yours.. And you must one of the Anonymous (no signature) and this can be interpreted that you are a very selfless person, maybe even a Bodhisatva, or maybe even Buddah himself. Another way of looking at what you just said would be that Kenny is prioritizing in order to have something to cling to in terms of confidence before the start of the next season., something that can be used to project confidence within the squad.., eg "look lads.. you've won 2 cups.. now let's try and translate this into a league form..the cups are a proof that you have the potential, etc" SO, this can be seen as Club over self... in a dualistic universe of ours. Nevertheless, I hurt as much as you and unhappy with the lack of spirit and "don't pass/don't move" type of footbal served to us today. And young Mr. Sterling was our best player in my opinion. He's definitely our future J. Barnes.
Baron von Ungern

9 players who between them have played Premier League football and a majority were internationals. It's Kenny's going easy on them that has led to the players in my view accepting league mediocrity.

This is simply not good enough!

Would like to be positive but that was complete carp.

Looking forward for another season competing with WBA and Swansea next season.

18M for Henderson. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.

How anyone can be pro KD and at the same time criticise Rafa's (or dare I say Hodgsons) time is beyond me.

How I miss a midfield of Alonso, Gerrard, Mascherano, Garcia etc etc.

Those times on the KOP were electric and never thought the hangover from the H&G era would last so long.

With the team we put out tonight I think we're punching above our weight in the top half of the table.

Never thought the H&G Hangover would last so long?! It's only been 18 months. Our club was 4 days away from bankcrupsy!! It takes time, on and off the pitch, to rebuild the club and the team and thats what we're still in the middle of doing. Unfortunantly some of the players hearts don't look in it at home but I think a lot of that is from the lack of atmosphere and the amount of tension thats in the crowd. It's been like that nearly all season at home. The tension must rub off on the players, it must be horrible to play in front of. Could be why we've done better away from home because generally our away support has been fantastic compared to the home support. I'm not blaming the fans but it does make a difference. We need to start next season with a freshness, new kit, a couple of new players, a singing crowd and erase the mental block which seems to be stuck there at the moment.

Awful performance if that's player playing for their FA cu position then we have no chance. Shelvey, Spearing, Kelly, Carrol are no where near the class we need, they would struggle in the championship!

Kenny has to make the changes or take the blame, we have been in this position before with players like Ngog, Pongolle, Babble, hoping they will come good and they never do, as it proves with Ngog at Bolton. We have to add pace and class.

We will never be top 4 with Spearing, Shelvey, Kelly. who was the leader in the middle of the park? who took control of the game? who took a gamble and ran at the back 4? passing sideways and backward is the easy part we need someone who can give us something different.

Two positives were Doni and Sterling

That was sore on the eyes, probably worse performance of the season.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Its nine changes Blair so I sort of expected it ... Its strange but its always the case, when we do wholesale changes the team as a whole does not perform, even players that did so well just few days earlier ie Shelvy today had a bad first touch and could not pass, where on Saturday he was my second man of the match.
Roy

I know all at Liverpool look to emulate your more successful friends over at Old Trafford but I didn't think you'd bother copying our sh*te performances aswell ;)

TK-Red

I expected more of an effort, Roy mate. Would love to see more of our kids get some game time. Tonights was another great chance to play Suso, Coady, Ibe and a couple of others. Not all at once but maybe a couple more should have got 15-20 mins.

From the first look at the team sheet I had a feeling that kk couldn't care less about the game today
I really want to rant, but I don't have the energy or the available words to do so. We were absolutely woeful again at home. We can blame both kk and the players who just aren't good enough.
Downing has done nothing, absolutely nothing all season, so why is he still being played, it is clear for all of us to see that he is not good enough and tbh couldn't give a toss he gets paid, he doesn't care.
If anyone disagrees please comment. Just to see others opinions on downing
Bean

Downing has not lost his pace and ability over night. He like many of the other players has skill and ability but the mental side to the game is being massively underestimated. Most of our players are suffering massively from a mental block and something needs to be done about it. Look at the clubs they. Amie from and it's clear non of them have ever experienced this pressure before not only that they also do not have that in built drive to win and succeed unfortunately.

01 May 2012 21:50:25
Lol is it just me or does Sterling (who's 17) look like he's in another class compared to the average carp that's playing alongside him? I say Sterling in Downing out!! Thank you

From an unbiased view, Sterling come on and looked like hes got something, the rest of your kids dont look up to it if im being honest

SHED END

01 May 2012 21:49:51
Tonight was poor. Everybody just started hitting it long to Carroll and Kuyt in the end. Sterling looked class when he came on, put in two deadly crosses, beat his man 2-3 times, won a free kick and never gave the ball away once. If anybody tonight proved they deserve a spot in the final it was Sterling (as an impact sub), Carroll to create space for Suarez, and Skrtel because the big man didn't miss a header all game. Kelly should play right back, with Johnson at left back. Enrique has just played to much and looks burnt out...

YNWA! (Adam)

01 May 2012 21:48:51
Free kick with 2 minutes to go and one of the worst players on the pitch Shelvey demands the ball and hits it 20ft over the bar.
No wonder Maxi gave him a look of disgust.
Maxi knows where the net is and you could tell he wanted to take it.
Shelvey for me is over-hyped, typical english player gets up and down the pitch but hasn't really got a football brain.
Just Maxi,Skyrtel and Doni looked like professional footballers out of those that played the full 90minutes.
Absolute shambles before an Fa Cup Final! Can't see the logic in the line up.
Unfortunately for us Carra will be playing at Wembley.
kidmillions

I could not believe Shelvey pulled rank on Maxi to take that free kick. Someone at the club needs to take control of these overrated players.

I remember a shot from Maxi which was even higher than Shelvey's. Maxi knows where the net is - it's a pity that he has only hit it 17 times in 70 matches!!

01 May 2012 21:48:37
Absolutely pathetic YET AGAIN!!!
I hope we beat Chelsea in the final.
It's the only way KK will be considered for getting another year.

In that case surely you hope we get beat?

01 May 2012 21:48:15
Quite honestly, I can't wait for the season to end, its terrible to watch the great LFC humbled at home week in and week out.
Did note the stadium was not full, so are the prospects of a 65K plus stadium realistic, when we can't even fill a 45k ground.
Just wondering!.

01 May 2012 21:48:09
One thing I've learnt from tonight,

Reina, Agger, Skrytl, Gerrard, Suarez, Lucas.. These are the only first team players that are good enough! (Enrique & Kelly could be added to the list) The rest would struggle to get in any other team in the top half, which we're struggling to keep in!

When I saw the team sheet tonight, I knew it would be a struggle, may have been a B team, but it still probably cost 4 times more then Fulhams team!

I am devastated with how far behind we have fallen, and the positivity I felt when FSG took over has gone. I'm happy they're responsible owners, and dont want to inflict more debt on the club, but the position we're in right now we could have done with an Arabian oil tycoon flinging a load of dosh in our direction, with someone making sure it was spent on decent players, it is not just one or two players need replacing, it is 10 or more, need a quality in depth squad to get where we want to be and at the minute all we have is a decent first 11.

El Diablo!

Johnson should be added Good footballer can defend better than he's given credit for; offensively can beat a man, pass has good control and has an eye for goal. Beggars belief that some of the dimwits want to get rid of him.
kidmillions {Ed001's Note - beggars belief that you can back a player that is so mentally lazy. His passing is wayward at best, he wanders infield, leaving us with no width and then doesn't bother to track back.}

Ed 001: Have to disagree on Johnson. I think we'll find plenty of takers at a good price if we decide to sell him?
I hope we don't sell him as I believe there's no substitute for skill at the top level.
kidmillions

Hey ed? do u think Johnson could be a decent right winger for us if were short on cash for the summer? {Ed002's Note - I doubt Johnson will be used as a right winger.}

01 May 2012 21:48:04
Boring to watch, To predictable, No pace, no creativity, no passion, no flair, no skill, no player to unlock a defence.

Honestly we have to spend on TOP quality players this summer to catch up with NEWCASTLE, let alone the others.

Also was Aurelio injured? Why did kenny bring Enrique on for him, didn't understand that substitution at all!

AteroZ 96

01 May 2012 21:46:39
is it me or do people think that Jenny's team talks are probably CRAP! i can only imagine what hes saying in the dressing room now after the match "unlucky boys dont worry we got a fa cup final on saturday"
don't get me wrong i still think hes the man to take us forward just think he could be a bit more motivational

If JENNY'S giving the teamtalks then no wonder they're crap.

Who the Hell is "Jenny"?

01 May 2012 21:44:10
A big well done and thank you to Kenny, the boys and everyone who was involved in giving us 5 I repeat 5 home wins in the premier league this season. You can't ask for much more than what they gave all season. The spirit of the team has been second to none and performances which are a credit to them!

01 May 2012 21:43:45
I didn't get the logic in bringing in Enrique for Aurelio, I thought Aurelio was doing great and Enrique just can't cross the ball. Poor performance, no real hunger from most of the players. Average teams come and get great results at Anfield, some of our current players don't deserve to have that red shirt on.

HK

01 May 2012 21:43:37
That performance just highlights how weak our team really is....our midfield is the main problem! Spearing, Shevley, Maxi and Kuyt simply not good enough!

Part of the problem is with the players we have in our squad Maxi should one of the first names on the team sheet.

01 May 2012 21:42:54
another embaressment if spearing downing shelvey etc are our future we will be in the championship good players are going to laugh when we ask if they want us. the whole team should be ashamed to call themselves footballers

01 May 2012 21:42:29
i think liverpool football club should give there supports back there money, people come from all over england to watch them, for what to watch a team with no heart, passion and are completely hopeless.new standards set tonight boys, welldone

have a look on you tube at celtic fans on sunday as we silenced rangers with ynwa. celtic3/0 rangers you will never walk alone. hail hail good luck in the cup final

01 May 2012 21:42:22
Who the flock are we kidding? My patience with Dalglish has just run out. The league dosen't lie. We'll have just avoided relegation by the end of the season. Kenny bottled it with today's selection, putting all his eggs in one basket. It only served to show how poor his squad is. Judging on today's performance we won't be contenders for 4th spot for another 5 yrs. We need a complete overhaul of the squad and (never thought I'd say this!) management.

01 May 2012 21:46:30
I have to say, the English players we have - Spearing, Kelly, Henderson, Downing, Shelvey, Carroll, etc - are awful.

Hopefully we hire coaches who are geniuses and can turn dross into gold.

There are grounds to institute a policy whereby we never pay money for an English player again.

Though Carroll had a good game just didn't get any support from our crap midfield!!

Calm the ham mate and strap yourself down, those knees are jerking all over the shop.

I notice all our reported targets now are from continental leagues or Mexico. So someone at the club is thinking the same way.

Disgrace, total disgrace did you all hear the boos? That's the completely faithful and totally loyal home fans making that noise. Anyone who thinks that we are going to attract any top players this summer needs a reality check. I can't believe how bad Liverpool were tonight, makeshift team or not it's a joke. I pray to god the owners were watching that because we need a drastic intervention, its got so bad now I'm not surprised any more when we loose. Oh and to all you Kenny lovers out there for god sake wake up,if this continues into next season we'll be playing in the championship soon. No club is to big to go down and this boys is pure relegation form.

Well said, totally agree. PJRED

my wife said she would sack everyone on the team except Doni, and Sterling and Skirtle and for once in her life she is RIGHT!!!

Awful

01 May 2012 21:41:39
Seriously who didn't see this result coming we are a joke now, despite it being a second string it was still a strong side on paper. Sterling came on and was a bright spark again but things need to change.

Hans

Sterling would have been better as all he did was by himself. People looked scared to pass it to him when it was them, not him that would mess up.

01 May 2012 21:40:06
Doni and Coates great tonight. Downing did better tonight once he came on and glad to see Raheem make an appearance. still...shocking overall performance. Another defeat at Anfield? to Fulham? wrong team selection tonight and didnt deserve anything from that. A very annoyed Roblfc86

Cheers YNWA

Am i missing the point here isnt that what we want, good young players? gerrard is no spring chicken, bellamy to, the more good young players the better.

01 May 2012 21:39:26
Dirk, need i say more? he is an absolute disgrace, its like starting with ten men, i cant remember the last time we won a game when he has started, roll on next season when he has gone.

Today's game was first one in 10 years that I could not watch to the end. I know we sat are best players, but the inability to string two passes together is too hard to watch. My mini review:

Coates: Cannot pass. Period.
Spearing: Can pass back but not forward or laterally.
Henderson: Cannot do anything good, but doesn't do anything horrible. Yet he starts every game. He wouldn't start for any other team in premier league. Think about it.
Carroll: Looked active. Thought he might get one. Oh well.
Downing: I am tired complaining about his uselessness.
Aurelio: Actually made a few good crosses. Not bad seeing how he hasn't played all year.
Kuyt: As expected. Energy, but poor footing/passing
Maxi: As expected. Shows glimpses of talent then disappears.
Kelly: Looks solid
Sterling: Looks exciting.
Skrtel: Solid/unlucky

Glad I wasn't at Anfield today.

Absoloute dirt we are goin to get murdered on saturday. shelvey don't ever let me see you hitting a free kick again. I've said all along he is not good enough get him and half of that carp out of the club

01 May 2012 21:36:13
Anyone who thinks Kelly shud b our starting rb needs their head tested. Hasnt a clue going forward! {Ed001's Note - how can you blame him when he gets forward and there are no options for him?? What do you want him to do? He is not Messi!}

Ed cross the ball would be nice {Ed001's Note - to who? Whenever he reached a crossing position there was at most one man in the box. That needs to change!}

If he had decent players I front of him then it wouldn't be a problem, ed is right dirk is useless and Kelly could do nothing else
It was obvious that tonight was the game that everyone, bar fulham would forget in the hope of winning on sat
Football doesn't work like that though
Bean

No neither does he have the passing / crossing or general attacking abilities of johnson and he is not much better defensively either although he is scouse so that ok and he's on less money so even better, but if you don't offer more than who you are replacing whats the point {Ed001's Note - rubbish, he offers far better defensive ability than Johnson and doesn't spend his time half asleep. Where he comes from is irrelevant, funny how only the whiners think it makes any difference.}

Actually ed i have to agree on this one, i'm a big fan of kelly but tonight i thought he was well and truely one to go on the poor list. Agreed we were shocking as a whole but his wayward passing and at times poor positional play is not what we need from someone the majority of us think should be filling Glen Johnson's boots.

SideShowBob {Ed001's Note - I wasn't disputing he had a poor game tonight, but one game doesn't make a bad player, and it is pathetic that someone is suggesting it does. He has shown time and time again that he is our best right back overall, so please put that knee back down.}

Put in one decent cross in 90 minutes? not just square up, back to the sideline and try win a throw at best. I dont blame him ed- I just dont see him as anywhere near good enough in attack to be a replacement for Johnson as some have suggested.
As I'm sure tactically aware fans know he will make a better cb, and maybe play rb against teams when we may be up against it. Not at all against teams we should be beating. {Ed001's Note - who was he meant to cross it too?}

We dont know how to play as a team ed. and i think kennys "play well an earn a place in the final" didnt help because everyone likes to be greedy

Edd o1 your deluded if u think kelly is a better rb then johnson big time {Ed001's Note - no I am not, Johnson is not good enough.}

Agreed ed, only ever Carroll in the box. Whe he's the only one in the box how can you expect Kelly to pick him out with ease or Carroll to get on the end of it? Plus ed i agree about him not closing the back 4 down which is why in my opinion he looks much more deadly when Suarez is up front with him. I still believe he and Suarez could forge a fantastic partnership and we saw a glimpse of what it could be like in that FA cup semi-final in the second half. I hope Kenny starts those 2 up front together in the final.....then we might actually have 2 men in the box for a cross. Yay!
KiwiRed

Kelly is by far our best right back may not have had his best game today but every match he has a solid game. You say he should do better attacking wise, who is he supposed to cross or pass it to? when our team attacks and for some reason they think one player in the box is enough to get a goal. I would love to see what the best right backs could do with no support. You call ed001 deluded yet your point is not very valid when you don't consider what the rest of the team are doing when kelly is trying to attack? Johnson is good atacking wise but he has not got a clue when it comes to defending, he leaves the whole right side open and when he eventually loses the ball he runs back slowly. Yeah sounds amazing to me?

We could have got 18 mil for kuyt 2 summers ago! Get ready for my onslaught - he's a proper servant, he runs his socks off! We should have adopted a dog from local pound then! There has never been an end product to him and he won't get us over 5 million. Really hope he goes in the summer!

Oh really, why is that then. He got no service all game had to do everything for himself. He is not messi or the hulk.
He is a target man that had nothing to work with

No fair enough, sorry about that, was caught up in the moment i think! A bit of redmist, looking back on it he did work hard, just no support from our 'midfield'. On the up side sterling looks like a talent!

Coates been quality tonight!

1st half maybe apart from that average and poor only kk to blame though

I think Coates, Carroll and Shelvey are the only ones to come out with any credit really.

01 May 2012 20:46:36
I know it's only half time, and i'll be willing them to improve, but jeez, that was sh1te. If that's a squad that only an exceptional player could improve, if that's giving supporters some pride back, if that's trying to get into a cup final side, then i give up, i really do.

I love Kenny, and i know we've got a final on Saturday, but if you buy a lampost of a centre forward, then sign a winger to put crosses in for him, it might be an idea to have them on the pitch at the same time...

01 May 2012 20:44:42
Atmosphere is dire. Well done to the club on pricing out an entire generation of young lads who are the ones who make the most noise. The huge income the club receives from the commercial side should surely result in a reduction in ticket prices so anfield isn't full of day trippers for years to come

I was thinking exactly the same thing watching the game. If we build a new stadium, there has to be a ticketing policy that allows kids to come and fill the stadium.

01 May 2012 20:42:42
Would have been better to have forfeited the game rather than have to watch this rubbish. Ok there is a cup final on Saturday, but today is Tuesday when was is ok for Liverpool to not be up for a game?

Kenny must go after the FA cup he wasted record money in the summer and Moyes with nothing has Everton higher.

Cup competitions are a bonus the league sorts the best from the rest and on that Kenny should be kicked out the door.

He is actually worse than Roy!

How quiet is it in anfield. I know it's been a disappointing season but we need to be louder than that. Get sterling on just to raise the noise levels a bit

They didn't attend work programe today, and found out their welfare got sanctioned.

lol

01 May 2012 20:39:31
Carroll is doing good, we can turn this around...come on lads!! YNWA!

HK

01 May 2012 20:39:17
Carroll looks good and player around should be getting benefits but Kuyt would not score and shelvey should have scored with 3 chances and maxi missed 1 and half decent.again failing to score..bring on Sterling for Spearing ..give young lad at least 30 minutes to show glimpse of his talent and build his confidence..cant do worse then spearing

01 May 2012 20:38:59
the only one that looks like they should start next game, is aurelio lol. knows how to cross. something downing and enrique cant seem to do, and id start carroll too just because i think he can be dangerous. and id definitly start 2 strikers

01 May 2012 20:38:39
Thats the worst i have seen us play in a while, god we need someone to run at them! All pass but no move. Hate to rely on a kid but i think Sterling needs a run out.

01 May 2012 20:37:26
I don't normally review performances, and give my opinion, but this time, I feel I must. I know we are losing, but 4 players stand out to me.

COATES- strong in the tackle, good long range passing and good in the air. Needs more confidence.

KELLY- so much better than johnson. He can tackle, cross, good passing, quick strong. He's a wonderful player when fit. Far superior to Johnson already

SHELVEY - Passing, amazing long range. Fantastic rooms, crossing, tackling. The way he's playing at the minute, he's far better than Gerrard.

CARROLL - Many of you will disagree. But tonight's a good example of how he's been playing recently. Forever chasing the opposition, 110% commitment. Holds play up extremely well, sprints into the box to get onto the end of crosses. Amazing left foot, and not a bad right. And, he has got a skill or two, to beat his opponent.

I belive that these players, along with Skrtel, can form the backbone of teams to come.

Opinions please,

Burnsy

Wow how has Liverpool not won the league with these amazing players.

CT13

You mate are a proper Liverpool fan. We can all see the bad side of the team but sometimes you have to look on the bright side and put your all behind the team

I admire your optimism. But frankly, Kelly is one of the worst crossers of the ball I have ever seen. And at this point, Shelvey is a headless chicken.

Agree totally Burnsey. Good post.

Take Spearing off and get Sterling on.

-----------------Carroll

You forgot to shoot kuyt

01 May 2012 20:34:03
How are these jokers beating us?? This is ridiculous, it seems like no matter what we try nothings going right.

The fact you refer to them as jokers is why we are losing to them...if we don't respect and bring our A game against each opponent then there's a chance they can beat us...and everyone knows we can't rely on luck...Fulham are a solid team with solid players; if we let them play they are capable of beating us

01 May 2012 20:33:39
They are not doing badly at all. We are creating a lot of chances just unfortunate not to finish them off. I think we should take Spearing off and put Shelvey into centre mid and put Sterling on upfront with Carroll. A bit of pace in there then.

Fulham crowd are the best supporters in the world - outshout and out-sing Liverpool faithful on all occasions. Our flops 11 are trailing 0-1 and there seems to be no desire or industry to get back. Where the f'''' is pass & move? No one wants the ball, no one willing to move, no one willing to support occasional isolated striker in the box. This is a fair observation and my heart bleeds. It feels like being betrayed...

All of you who are wearing pink glasses - WAKE UP FFSake!!

Baron von Ungerns

Well missed most of the first half trying to get a stream and yes i agree we are 1 nil down but not trying? are you watching the same same game? yes ffs it is all but our second team (b team) and its not up to scratch but not trying how many knock downs has carrol had to no one? their just no real quality out there i'm afraid

Baron von gunners

Ok, I wrote that in desperation. By not tryin I meant lack of movement in front, like when one of our players had a ball , he had no one to pass to nearby. There was some decent effort in the 2nd half, and Caroll's confidence impressed in certain situations but there was no end product.
Baron von Ungern was a red revolutionary from 1920's and British into tha bargain. I'm not a gunner. NO NO NO

oh my god anfield is like a morgue. you can actually hear what the players are shouting.

01 May 2012 20:24:03
Can only get a decent stream of the match with Spanish commentary. Poor dude doesn't sound like he's enjoying it one bit. Not eactly the precision passing of La Liga going on out there. The only bit I've been able to translate is, 'Why, why, why?' after every hoof into the box.

Hope Kenny gives Sterling a half at least. Crowd deserve it. They've paid a lot of money and don't seem too enthusiastic with the team tonight.

-Shane. {Ed023's Note - Try this link, this is what I am watching, it's in English. www.sport24.me/streams/CreepyTV7.html}

Cheers. Nice bit of McManaman footage for the break. I went to get his name on my shirt as a kid. Wouldn't fit as I was too small. Ended up Owen....Micheal bloody Owen, always ruining everything.

so kenny says " we lose as a team and we win as a team", so if we lose tonight which we no doubt will then the team will go into saturdays final off the back of a defeat, not the best preperation in my eyes, i know kenny wants to rest players but we shouldve started with a strong team tonight , put the game to bed and then sub the important players before saturday knowing that we already have a extra day over chelski to prepare.

The team tonight is incompetent, they can't string 2 passes together and the attack is woeful maxi, Kuyt Carroll.
They are already battering us and winning 1-0

01 May 2012 19:43:33
Not saying it has to be him but we really need a player like Kaka, someone to play just behind Suarez and whoever partners him next season whether its Carroll or a new centre forward. The missing link between midfield and the front two has been so painfully obvious this whole season. A new winger, a creative midfielder and Lucas back to tighten up the midfield will give us the starting XI to break into the top 4.
YNWA

We definitely need a player of Kaka's quality but we cannot afford his wages unless he takes a pay cut...also, I don't see him wanting to join a rebuilding team

01 May 2012 19:36:23
Skrtel starting? Does this mean Carragher, starts on Saturday? Skrtel would have been one of the 1st players, I would have rested. We need Martin fresh to play against Droghba or Torres.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

These are professional athletes, your right in terms of avoiding injury maybe he should be rested, a centre back should be able to play two games in a week though, especially one of skrtels calibre. MIKEYRED

Kenny knows we need experience on Saturday. It is really Carra's only defining feature at this point.

Eds/Macca, need answer on these:
-GuillemBallague said that Nuri Sahin will be available, to be sell nxt transfer. Any interest from lfc? Maybe alonso can tell sahin lfc is a great club to go.
-Luuk de jong looks versatile player.Have KD made personal check on him? Would love to have him, partner with Suarez as our main striker.
-If we sign Isla, he will be use as winger or rightback? Buy him is a good deal since he can cover both position.

That's it for now.

Guillem Balague is wrong. Sahin wont be thats pure speculation on his part. He will get another season to prove his worth to the team as injuries disrupted his first.

Hodgson ..
There is devided opinions about Woy at the helm of England.
I may not be his biggest fan but I will support my country regardless of whos in charge and I hope he gets it right. He will get my support for one.
Interesting point though is 12months or so ago, the English media slammed Liverpool for not giving him a chance at the club yet the same people within our media world arnt giving him a chance at England.
Good enough for Liverpool but not good enough for England.
Double standards.
It seem that the media likes to blame and point at Liverpool for whatever they can.
Suarez one match ban because of hand gestures yet we see other players get away with it.
Let's see what happens to terry over his racism incident.
In the end, the media are hating Hodgson in charge of England at the min and that's a good reason to support the man, even if it's just to get up their nose for once.

01 May 2012 19:12:37
hey lfc fans..

well as my earlier post stated.................carragher rested today means he will play the final...........

i personally dont feel we are as strong at the back when he plays......

and every fan knows..skrtel and agger is the best partnership.............and looks like kd has done a u-turn again and let his emotional ties get the better of him again!

drogba will be rubbing his hands together with carra playing!

To watch the game.

1. Install the browser Google Chrome.

2. Look in the top right (your right) corner and you will see a spanner.

3. Click on the spanner and select 'tools'.

4. Click on extensions

5. At the bottom right (as you look at it) you will see 'Get More Extensions >>'. Select this.

6. In the search box type 'Chrome Live Football' and search.

7. Click on Chrome Live Football and then click on install. (it may download to a holding file in the bottom left as you look at it, in which case as soon as it's finished click there, but mostly it will install itself)

8. A small football will then appear in the top right (as you look at it). Click on that, select 'live stream' and reset the clock to GMT and it will list all the live games available all over europe and other places.

You may occasionally need to install other programmes or the link you pick will only work on Explorer (in which case cut and paste the URL into Explorer), but you will always get every EPL match (or any other). Sometimes you will only be able to find it with foreign commentary and sometimes you will get it in English. You'll get about thirty links and you may have to look through a lot of them to get what you want. You will also get most La Liga matches, Greek matches, Italian matches and French matches as well as top matches from South America.

Someone also asked about viruses etc. Google Chrome is actually far more secure than Internet Explorer so the risks are considerably less, but you should have decent virus/spyware programmes and run sweeps regularly as a matter of course.

The quality will also depend on the speed of your internet connection. If you have super-speed and have a modern HD TV, consider connecting your PC to the TV via the PC socket on the side/ back.

Cut and paste the above into a document and save it for future reference.

My guess at the team was pretty close! I got quite a few disagrees, but 9 right out of 11 isn't too shabby. My bench was pretty close too! I'm seriously worried that Carra will be starting in the FA Cup final though, the Skrtel/Agger partnership is a must for me.

I'll obviously support England but I had lost interest before Roy. The philosophy is poor, the players we have are simply not good enough, with Roy or without Roy we were never going to win anything let's be honest, I hate to be so pessimistic but it's true. Don't know why he would take the job in all honesty, the media build the team up and put so much pressure on the manager that when the team loses which is pretty inevitable eventually then the team and especially the manager gets crucified. Stupendus amount of pressure for an impossible job. The team is not good enough and the philosophy is poor. We are miles behind other national teams like Spain etc. We need to focus on technique and start all over again in terms of the country as a whole. We need to rebuild from grass roots level in terms of improving players rather than telling them that winning is everything. That is not training a player, that is just training a player to play well in that specific team. I know this is a liverpool page but this needed to be said. The FA is a joke also, the whole system needs a complete overhaul. MIKEYRED

So unhappy were the midfielder and his agent, who is also his father, that they have decided to snub the new contract - and could begin to look elsewhere.

Robben is out of contract in June 2013, when he could leave on a free, so Bayern may decide to cash in this summer to avoid a cut-price fee in January.

Bayern's president Uli Hoeness confirmed: "All I know is that he was just about to put pen to paper, and now that has all been postponed."

If its a return to the EPL then surely we will be a option for him, as the top 5 don't need him..

Arsenal - Gervinho, Walcott, Ox
Chelsea - Sturridge, Marin, Mata

ps - Not enough good, consistent fullbacks to choose from this this season for a 442 - Richards gets a spot on the bench - Dempsey and Silva track back well though, and the central midfield pairing could also help cover the defence nicely - (and play some ball too) - not a bad side methinks.

This lot had good seasons. No-one would argue with that. (I think....)

I know its fa cup final this weekend but surely the last game at anfield in what has been a misreable season at home and possibly altogether misreable he will play a team that can win and not drop everyone abviously fa cups more important by a mile would be good to send the season at anfield off in style with optimism fir next but losing or drawing would just be disastrous with players going around pitch thanking fans after this. So i hope he plays strongish lineup perhaps try diff formAtion more attacking go for goals would love to see sterling

We can all sit here and slag off Woy as England manager but if we're honest do any of us reds really care about England? ive only ever watched England to watch a game of football, never been interested in supporting any team other than Liverpool. Many of you will agree.

I'm scouse not English.
The scouse national team play in the premier league every week.
I watch the euros and world cups because the standard of football is so high and there is a lot of drama. But I don't really support anyone, it's hard to support England's pampered "stars"

It's like them supporters who support the club team when there doing well then slag um when they ain't doing good.
I support Liverpool through thick n thin and my heart is red through the good times and bad.
Supports support because that club or country is in their heart and the desire to win flows through their veins. Pride and passion is what its all about.

I really hope we sign Luuk De Jong of FC Twente. He would be the perfect partner for Suarez. He is only 21 years old and has improved immensely over the past 2 seasons having been the top scorer and top assist provider for Twente in thier 2010/2011 campaign.
This season, hes managed to score 30 goals in 46 appearances which to me is a massive achievement for such a young player.
He could also take the pressure of Carroll and allow him to continue his progress at Liverpool :)
Touted to be available for around 12 Million Pound, he would be more than a bargain seeing as hes already broken into the squad for his national side Holland.
Plus, hes born on the same date I am, 27th August, so he must be a top athlete :D
RedSox69

100% agree with you!

K. Bennett

Cheers mate
My fall-back options would be:
Jackson Martinez who has had a remarkable goal scoring ratio OR
Matias Suarez, 19 goals and 17 assists in 40 appearances this season
Although the latter would set us back 20 Million Euros as reported

Hi Eds & Reds,

Just wondering can we name any players who started off in LFC youths/reserves, didn't work out but they went on to become successful at other clubs. The ones that got away if you like , I might be wrong , but what about Kevin Sheedy ?

Just a thought about back up keeper, what about Fraser Foster?

Rebel_Red

Sheedy Reserve not youth
Alan Harper youth
Dave Watson youth
John Gidman youth

Why, whats the point? sheedy didnt start his career with us, besides he left during one of the greatest periods in the clubs history, so i woudnt say he was one that got away

Dave Watson and John Gidman both went on to play for England,so I would say them 2.

The DINNER LADY Vs THE WORLD - Hodgson is out to make a proper fool of himself this time! (its the most grotesque PC, 2012, end of the world appointment I can think of)

Bit harsh but I quite like the non pc sense of humour

What?? Just one single victory? There's a surprise!! I suppose the rest will be draws

In response to some of you, Elm is unbelievably slow and no better than Adam. He wouldnt get in any top team put it that way, hence why no one has snapped him up.
The ones slating me are the ones still stuck in the 1980s. Clueless. Kenny out.

Ted Twoizacarnt.

Well that's just great, slating the lad before he has even kicked a ball in a Liverpool shirt. You probably thought Cabaye was s*** and he's turned out pretty handy for Newcastle, I will not be loosing any sleep tonight

Mark

Why does everyone assume that because a player hasn't been 'snapped up' by a'better team' that they are either rubbish or won't sign?! Barcelona don't try to sign every decent footballer they scout it's all about fitting into the team, don't talk rubbish!

Sometimes you say that there is "confirmed interest" in some player and sometimes it's "unconfirmed interest". Just want you to explain what you mean with that what differences there are. {Ed002's Note -The "confirmation" would have been provided by a club representative, or someone trustworthy (some reliable agents, advisors, some scouts, some reliable media folk) etc.. In most cases it will be correct. "Unconfirmed" interest would be some sort of reasonably-well trusted media source or perhaps an agent. Sometimes correct but sometimes way, way off the mark and speculative or an agent talking a player up. Otherwise things generally fall in to the category of being "reported" which typically can be traced by to a blog, a site like this, or something like tribalgoaloffside.co.uk - pinch of salt but may strike luck now and again.}

"Roy Hodgson" THATS ME FINISHED WITH ENGLAND...
Excuses,sniveling interviews,the F.A. are a joke..

You could argue that of all the recent managers England have had, he has had the most experience. Both at international level and at club level.

However, I personally think it is the FA getting a cheap 'YES' man. Only £2m a year salary compared to what they were paying previous managers and what they would have had to pay for 'Pays tax When He Wants'.
Also, there's no compensation involved with the club whereas it would have probably been double figures from Spurs for 'Pays Tax When He Wants'.

Having endured the type of football he tried to inflict on us when he was here, you get the impression that he has a level that he can't get any further with.
No disrespect to the likes of West Brom & Fulham but when he was there he was probably perfect for them and them for him. Limited aspirations of winning, but solid enough 'set the team out not to lose' mentality that meant the would always be safe from relegation but never quite make the top 6 of the premier league.

I think it will be interesting to see the reaction of every reporter that slated us for not giving him a chance, when he gets the England team playing that way too.
Will they be as forgiving?? I don't think so.

The same can be said for all the critics that came out of the woodwork (all supporters of other teams) when he was at LFC and after he had left us.

They will soon realise exactly the type of football he likes and the limited style with playing not to lose, rather than playing to try and win, by keeping the ball, and creating multiple chances per game.

I honestly wish him well, as if he is successful then the England is successful, but I'm not holding my breath.

On the plus side, if he did or does have a problem with any of the English Liverpool players, they could soon have there club career being helped/extended by not having to worry about international matches.

FA spent a fortune on the likes of Erikson and Capello. How many trophies did that get them?

Actually, I would just make Gerrard or Lampard player-manager, and spend the money saved on the grassroots of the game.

01 May 2012 15:18:28

as the season is almost over and only cup final an all important game to be played, do you think that KK will play bench players today and in the last two games? {Ed002's Note - I really can't say but perhaps one or two will be rested. Didnt the owners say it wasnt viable to bilad a stadium that was only 10,000 seats bigger than current So is it possible if a new stadium will be built might be similar size to uniteds?

Weather or not we move or redevelop Anfield, I personally believe that we should be going for an 70,000 all seater stadium we room for future expansion that could see it go to 85,000.

BigD

65k would be my guess.

MIKEY

How long does it take to bilad a stadium?
We still need to bilad a good squad?
When will all the bilading stop?

Always tricky to determine what is sustainable long term.
I would guess 65k and potential expansion to 70 or 75K.

Im not sure but bilading a stadium might prove quite difficult..

If we do that and i agree by the way
do you think we would get done by the FA for fielding a weakened side?

Paul the red {Ed002's Note - If it were significantly weakened then yes - and it has happened at least twice before in the EPL.}

Yes, but all the players picked are in the first team squad so you cant really be fined, can you?

The Irish Rover {Ed002's Note - You would have thought not, but there is this rule that a club must play their best available side. Wolves, Blackpool, Manchester United (on more than one occasion) and Arsenal have all fallen foul of this ruling at one time or other.}

I thought the rules re: fielding a weakened team had been changed this season? {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware and I don't have to time to check right now.}

Kenny has never won more then two games in a row in the league during he's second spell at liverpool. And you guys think he should still be at liverpool next season. He has a lower win percentage of managers who have been sacked like AVB and Steve Bruce.

Hes taken us to wembley 3 times this season, won the carling cup, qualified for europe, and now were about to play in the final of the FA Cup.......whereas united will get NOWT this season

not bad for his first season eh ?
Tel 1949

Somebody said his win percentage in his first 18 months is better than rafas in his first 18 months. Not sure how true it is though.

MIKEY

Awful record, these blind faith followers are really happy hes in charge still. If kenny didnt waste soo much money we would have enough to compete for some top players this summer, just signing carroll for £35 million only for newcastle to buy half there team full of quality players with is enough for kenny to be sacked. Only reason i see he hasnt been removed yet is because we dont sack managers half way through especially not kenny, with the exception of roy hodgson. I dont see how anyone can consider giving kenny anymore time? I would understand if we were challenging top 6, then you can say maybe he deserves a chance but the fact everton and newcastle are ahead of us is simply inexcusable. RedTurk

We are in a building process, it takes time, changing the manager would be detrimental in my opinion.
Steve Bruce was stale at Sunderland and AVB was not doing a great job at Chelsea, they should have been challenging for the title not scraping fourth!
i cant see how you can compare, there totally different situations.

Paul the red

The performances have been better than the results mate.If we were playing negative counter stuff which Utd do these days and failing to win,then we would think a change would be necessary.We are unbeaten in all cup competition,which shows you we have progressed from last season.So just for my understanding,What you are implying is every manager not getting their teams into top 4,should be sacked.Mmmmm {Ed002's Note - No that is not what he is implying. The point is the target was top four and that target has been missed by a long way although success in the cups has given a real boost.}

It's not kennys fault we spent 35m on Andy Carroll, Comolli was their to negotiate, hence why he has been sacked.

Hands up who thinks Red Turk is a Man Utd fan trolling the LFC page?

I can't remember seeing a single positive post from him- its all about how crap LFC are, sack Kenny, shoot all the players, etc.

No real fan could be such a negative whining bitch, the guy has to be a troll.

Blind faith followers? redturk do you actually watch games? Simply asking becuse if you don't think our overall peformances have not been better this season than the previous few then I wonder what you see and what you expect? Yes the results have been disappointing but to say the performances are poor is daft observation to make. I no doubt am one of those "blind faith" followers of KK, but I also understand that from were we where to were we are is a big step FORWARDS. Success should be measured in trophies and not finanacial spreed sheets, although I suppose the second should naturally follow the first. How about you back the team and the manager a little longer rather than slate them simply because you don't like them! - TMac

Who said his target was top four? That may have been the press and some unrealistic fans target but was it the target given to KK by the board. I would say European football would have been more realistic. {Ed002's Note - The owners and management have made it perfectly clear that was the target.}

Kenny has worse stat than woy had in his time.

Im sure Red Turk used to be on the Echo forum aswell...
Is that true turk?

Phooey

@MIKEY, yes you are right. king kenny's 1st 68 games at lfc have produced a win percentage of 49%. rafa's produced 47%.

rafa fans will probably be pressing the disagree button as they always do but the stat is true.

How many have you seen play long enough to make an informed judgement?

Collins its not fifa mate, we'll be lucky to get even 1 or 2 of these players

You clearly have not seen him play recently.

Spain could be in full blown debt crisis by the end of the week.

A lot depends on how auction on Spanish government bonds on Thursday goes.

With banks in crisis, a lot of Spanish clubs could face serious financial problems. Possibly many will make players available for sale. It could be a buyer's market.

I doubt it, most spanish clubs arn't in the same position as most english clubs, sure they spend but not as recklessly as us english

Love it - all you Liverpool fans talking about Utd

Sad! Man Utd fans checking LFC forums to see if we're talking about Man Utd!

Not talking about them, just laughing at them...lol

Haha every post surrounding this one is about Liverpool nice one mate!

We are just concerned about one of our senior citizens as it's pretty obvious Fergies cracking up haha

Shelvey should start ahead of henderson from now on,shelvey brings more to the game, hendrson looks lost most the time

Another 16 million wasted on henderson. Kenny has not got a clue about spending money on talent.

True, but Kenny has played Hendo more than any other player this season which means he believes in him and while he's the boss that's all that matters. Personally, I haven't figured out what Hendo's strengths are nor his role in the team

Have you lot been watching Liverpool lately? Henderson has been immense this past month, just because he is not scoring 30 yarders every other week like Gerrard, doesnt mean he has been playing badly, dont jump on the band wagon and slag the boy off coz he is not in the limelight, actually watch the shifts he is giving in every game he plays.
Cobra.

I find it strange how we can't hold a little debate on which player we think is better/ playing better without some people getting all emotional and saying we slagging them off. it's called OBSERVATION. it's like if I say Shelvey is playing better than Henderson then i'm committing treason & mutiny, and for my opinion get 4 paragraphs worth of chastising.

Which teams are going to make it to the champs league this year? {Ed002's Note - Manchester City, Manchester United plus two from Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle and Spurs will be in the Champions League. Liverpool plus two from Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle and Spurs will be in the Europa League. As such, all seven teams have already qualified for Europe.}

Is it just me or do you guys think Kenny should not be allowed to sign players for liverpool. He has made some of the worst signings for money spent and the owners should not let him anywhere near the transfers ,if you look at the league table with the blue noses ahead of us he will be sacked it not a question of if its a question of when. The new manager should be making transfers not kenny who has taken this club to its worst league position in PL history after a huge spending spree. The owners need top 4 and the players he has signed could not make top 7.

I agree mate. Them visits to Wembley are killing me. Total shabite our players...not good enought to win anything.

DaveyBootle

Yes it is just you & perhaps a few others in your class.

The managers task was top 4 not get to wembley dave you toad. Cups are a bonus League is what a manager is judged on you deluded muppet. Cant wait till we have a manager who knows what he is doing.

DaveyBootle...Yep I agree with you matey...
LFC are now at a very successful level...and your very retro type coach KD has done a fantastic job getting you there...

I now think of the once mighty Reds as kind of CFC pre-Roman times...i.e. very good cup team ...however not title contenders... even with the most vivid imagination...I find that a bit of a toughy...

Dig this site man.......;)

Blue247

The difference is mate is that the club HAVE many title and European success and there is a MASSIVE difference between Liverpool and Chelsea for that reason. Yes, a cup team now but potentially it's two extra cups to a bulging trophy cabinet. I'm happy being a cup team for this season as I expected nothing more, the league was miles away, but two potential trophies in a first season for Kenny suggests more to come.

DaveyBootle

And what about the bitters eh 'Blue247'?

By my reckoning you are kind of Curbishley's Charlton, a couple of good finishes in the league but we know when Moyes leaves your going to get relegated.

Jatt YNWA

Get off kenny's back, he was out of managing for some time and now he's back after we all wanted him to get the job, Now you all seem to change your minds and want him gone, i agree two trophies is brilliant and btw put some if not most of the blame on comolli for the transfers don't direct it all to dalglish he's not doing all to bad considering.

That Saurez, Bellamy and Enrique are all piss poor, cop onto yourself mate, you must be about 12 with thinking like that, all the players Kenny signed have shown signs of what they are capable off, with so many new players coming in it was never going to be plain sailing, players need to adjust and get comfortable with each other, it shows how stupid some people are when it comes to football when nobody mentions our defence and how good it has been this season, surely Kenny deserves a little respect for that he does manage the whole team not just the new signings, idiots like you make me sad.

I am a Liverpool fan from Manchester and i went out last night to watch the game with my best mate whose a city fan, it was proper funny seeing all the united fans screaming at the big screens!they even chucked there beers at the screen at half time MUPPET'S.
My question is where did that 5 minutes Fergie time come from, there were no Major injuries or goals in the second half, OK there were a few subs but 5 minutes, and Fergie complains that Manchini was badgering the fourth official.
Come on!

Paul the red

They had 5 minutes leftover from the Everton game. It happens all the time, I actually think the fact it has become a parody, helps them. Now it is just excepted.
Davey Liver

Paul, I dare you to wave your flag from your window for the pre-final build-up. I wouldn't like, but I dare you.

DaveyBootle

To DaveBootle
id better check my house insurance first!
To be fair when we play united i go to pub and watch it in my colours, im well known round where i live so there OK, it can get a bit heated at times as most of my friends are united fans, but mostly friendly banter!
Paul the red

Lol im the same mate from manchester but support the real reds all my friends are utd fans i used to get alot of stick from my teachers at school aswel haha but the banter is alway good especially when i say 5 times then the only red you see is some faces haha. STEMLOCC1

I have to attend meetings in the centre of Manchester and have been accepted very warmly by the staff and punters in the Chop House, even when wearing my Suarez / Liverpool scarf. Presumably they are all City fans.

City have the advantage with two games to go. Wait a minute..I am looking at the fixtures list and 5 more games have just appeared from nowhere..

That time of the year again boys and girls. I look forward to laughing at this years ridiculous rumours and questions.
Hopefully last years signings will have benefitted from, lets be honest, a dissapointing but bat sh*t crazy league performance and an encouraging Cup run. Add a few shrewd signings in the summer, some good (any really) news about the stadium and we could have good reason to optimistic for next season.

There is a lot of talk that we are going to sign elm? So my question is this Isn't that the dof's job? Doesn't FSG want a dof in place to make these decisions? {Ed002's Note - This has been dealt with repeatedly - please read the other posts.}

Morning Eds and All,
It's safe to say Liverpool are going to clear out old and expensive players, I don't see Carroll being sold or loaned as he has shown alot of improvement 2nd part of this season, he also cost £35 mil and we wouldnt get that back.
I can see Adam, Kuyt, Maxi, Cole and backup goalies going.
Hendo must stay, they are grooming him as new Stevie G, big boots! Suarez will stay I hope the rest of team are good.
Aqualani coming back, would like him to stay, but he wants out. Don't want a player that doesn't want to play for us - free up the wage bill.
Signings we still need are a striker, attacking midfielder and winger. I have seen some very exciting prospects and I know little of Elm, probably like most - so I CAN'T make any opinion of him, bring him in and lets give him a chance if he does sign.
Now Comolli has gone we may get some good players in.
Keep up the good work guys.
Bazzaa

01 May 2012 10:03:22
Would you sell Carroll and Downing for circa £27 mil and buy Luuk De Jong and Gaston Ramirez for circa £27 mil?
I think that would a good deal and provide the goals we need. I also think De Jong and Ramirez values could easily double at least once playing for LFC.
Agree for the Deal? or
Disagree No Deal?

Or they might not! Its not set in stone that they will suceed.

I was originally told that Anfield would be redeveloped because it was not financially viable to build a new stadium without a partner..

I was told last night that they are closer to finding a solution..

Again only passing on what I was told, I may wrong..

Let's wait and see..

Cheers

Macca

Cheers Macca son !

G BOX

I would rather stay at anfield.

Also I want you all to know I will always post what I am told even if it contradicts myself and makes me look stupid..

I was told by someone at the club a while ago that we would redevelop Anfield..

Last night iwas told by someone who is not connected to the club they are close to finding a partner to build a new stadium. This guy is very senior at Wembley stadium..

Cheers

Macca

Naming rights would have to be worth a minimum £150m to get things going.
If FSG pulls this one off, they should be given the freedom of Liverpool.
The Real KB

Not Everton is it?

DaveyBootle

Thanks for clearing it up macca. Appreciated.

Ben the red

I wouldn't mind sharing With Everton, the idea has more sense to it than struggling to make Anfield bigger and better, and only managing to create future problems and issues re- space and accessibility. The new stadium could be a shrine to what is tantamount to a second religion locally, I believe we have at our disposal a rare opportunity .....lets not waste it !

Thekemlynkid

Cheers Macca, some of us appreciate what you do.

Great post again macca...much prefer you to let us know snippets even, sometimes they not always correct but at least your letting us know what youve heard......thanks a lot
Tel 1949

Which would be more attractive to a company? Their names on thd shirt (Standard Charter £25 million a year for 4 years, £100) or naming rights of a stadium (£150 million)? Is that not selling the club a bit short? I mean you do have your name up there forever, dont you? Ed002, what do you think?

The Irish Rover {Ed002's Note - Typically naming rights deals will be for a fixed period of say 10 years. So they would contribute, in the case of your example, £15M a season. The name on the shirts is much higher profile of course and in most cases the sponsorship would cover both the satdium and the shirts (Emirates, Walkers, Sports Direct, Reebok etc.). So if what Macca has been told is correct, it is either Standard Chartered, an all new sponsor for both the shirt and stadium, bucking the trend with a separate stadium and shirt sponsor (As Bayern Munich) or something else I have not thought of. Interestingly, a few years ago Sony were in negotiation of a sponsorship deal for a stadium and then realised it would be more economically viable to build the stadium themselves and then rent it to the club. That deal never came off but the plans are still in place.}

Any chance of Ramirez macca?

Adam

Haha Davey, Where to the Tesco down in Kirby? ;)

Jatt YNWA

I would personally love a brand new world class stadium like the alianz arena. We would get some real high profile games like the champions league final.
We can only do so much with redevelopment, it will never match up to a purpose built modern development.
People love anfield and rightly so, but I don't believe it will still look or feel the same after a major redevelopment so we may as well build new.

MIKEY

Assuming that the new staduim issue holds some substance, surely it wouldnt be Standard Charter for naming rights considering how they looked at getting out of their shirt sponsorship.

The Irish Rover

The edito's comment regarding Sony is interesting, and something of that nature might be a potential solution.

Thanks Macca mate, always appreciate your updates. By the way Macca, heard any news on Luuk De Jong?

Didnt mean for my post at 1.14 to cause a stir, just wanted a answer from macca, is all.

Anyhow, i managed tickets for tonights game and my brother and i will be making the long trip up. My question is, where is the best place to park, or does anyone live near the stadium and we can chuck the car on their drive for a tenner?! If so, the eds have my email,

Thanks for anyones help
Ben the red

p.s i hope sterling starts

There are numerous car parks around anfield, they will charge around a fiver per car. Your best bet is to just head towards anfield and you will come across them. Anfield school open there grounds for car parking i is just off priory rd on the way to the ground, if not try the working mens club dedicated to the dockers, real safe parking there.

Ian the red

My younger brother will 'mind yer car' for a nicker.

DaveyBootle

Reminds me of the bloke who pulled up his Range Rover in a street off Qakfield rd and was approached by a few Scallies."Hey mate we will look after your car for a fiver." It's okay my Rottweiller in the back will do that for me, for nothing," growled the driver." "He's good at putting fires out his he,"replied the Scally

We need two players at least who can get us excited when they're on the ball. Suarez is world class on his day. But when it's not his day and stevie's having a bad game we want someone else to dig deep and produce some magic

Paul McKenna?

What about Paul Daniels?

I think your'e spot on,but we also need Midfielders who are clinical in front of goal,I think Shelvey gets into positions to be prolific, but Saturday showed that he needs more experience.I would loan him out to Blackpool again next season.Henderson can strike a ball, but he lacks Shelveys cockiness,He shouldn't be afraid to miss, and believe he his going to score.Spearing not up to the level we require.Adam lost his form when Lucas got injured.Maxi, Bellamy, Gerrard and Kuyt, have goals in them but they are no longer the players they where.

How about Ru Paul? (specially for Red Turk)

David Blaine?

Macca or Eds if we are now building a new stadium will it be ready for the new season? {Ed002's Note - Absolutely.}

Unless it's one of those pre-fabricated, flat-pack structures I can't see it being ready by then :-)

Where has this come from i thought it takes years to build a new stadium and is it true edd. STEMLOCC1 {Ed002's Note - Please read the other posts.}

Ive been told that Carroll, kuyt and maxi will leave this summer at least, probably 2 - 3 more. Kuyt to either roma or feyenoord, Carroll possibly tottenham as long as we recoup a fair chunk of the £35m. No news of who might be coming in apart from the obvious.
We may well have to shop for bargains (holland, scandanavia, championship) due to no CL, hopefully we'll get it right. It's then up to kenny to make them work as a team. Keep the faith, he's done it before. We don't need any big egos unsettling things. We've got a decent squad, a bit of strengthening and I reckon were gonna do ok.

Aintree red

Yeah, Adam, Downing & Carroll is up for sale, heard it from couple of people and have told it on here couple of times.

Spurs are interested in Carroll & they are the likeliest to come up with an offer with Adebayor leaving at the end of the season they need a replacement.

Aston Villa might be another team interested, but heard they very much like Adam. Massive changes at Villa this summer with some spending. So at least we have got some suitors for them lets hope we get some decent money for them.

Bosco

Remember it was widely reported in the final days of the January 2011 transfer window that Spurs offered £27m+ for Carroll, so now redknapp is staying at Spurs expect a decent offer in the summer to Liverpool.

01 May 2012 09:13:04
I think I have said this before, but I believe that players from almost any league (with in reason) can be a real hit. Take Jelavic for a moment. He came from a 'worse' league and alot of you said NO to his rumours to Liverpool. But he has set a fire under Everton this season. I think someone like Elm with nothing to lose coming to Liverpool would be great for our team, and if not him then another. It might be a good investment and if not then a cheap buy from a lower league will not harm out coffers much. Rather than spend 40m pounds on Hazard who is also unproven in the Premier League, has a stink attitude and is still quite young. We could go for a good aged player, cheap with a perfect attitude.
Just a thought.
Anyway I believe we have to get behind our team no matter what. And remember, atleast we don't have Heskey or Poulsen playing for us!!
GOD

There's lots of young and unknown Heskey's and Poulsens out there just waiting to be signed :((

I feel yesterday was a watershed.

Twenty three years ago, Arsenal scored two goals in the last game of the season at Anfield. It cost us the title, and we have not won since.

This season, Everton scored two goals in 10 minutes at Old Trafford. It will almost certainly cost United the title.

How do I know this is the end? Becuase the two things that have been key to their success - badgering the referee into submission, and getting behind the opposition defense to whip in a cross - simply did not work today against City. They have been sussed out - finally.

United have reached the end of the line. And by their body language and whining, Fergie and Rooney know it.

I never got past your first paragraph because , of course , we won the League the season following that Arsenal game .

I was alarmed by safs substitutions. who brings Ashley young in a BIG game the team needs to draw at least. I thought united would win it since I thought they'd at least know how to win important games. But seamingly, they've lost it this season.

What a pillock! We won it in 1990 and stop trying to be bitter on others success - yes I hate that they're challenging BUT I hate hoping for others to stop them getting success - it's up to all at Liverpool to STOP Man United!

01 May 2012 08:49:39
really interesting about the new stadium, or potential new stadium. Just in some early support for macca who had said that we were likely to stay at anfield, i think this was always going to be a dynamic situation and liable to change. I think ideally they would have liked to expand anfield but it had seemed impossible. They had looked into the new stadium and had struggled to get a partner so i think it was likely that they thought it was best to stay at anfield and regenerate the match day expereince and area around anfield as some have mentioned. Will be exciting to see what happens over the summer. Keep up the good work macca!
A quick question, do you know if Roy Hodgson left on good terms with the English lads in the Pool team? Reason i ask is if they left on good terms it could mean gerrard is a shoe in to be captain for the euros, if bad there is potential he wont even be selected.

Adam {Ed002's Note - Hodgson will not hold grudges against the players and wished everyone well when he left.}

Fed up with all these people moaning about Elm and bieber need better class or better known players. How many of you had honestly heard much about Alonso before he signed. I would imagine not many and look how he turned out.

Not comparing Elm with Alonso, just saying give the lad a chance before you make judgements about him.

Totally agree, we bought an unknown Alonso for £10.6m. Elm could be a real gem

'liverpools style does not suit Andy carroll' couldn't be more sick of hearing this; I cannot conceive of a style that would suit him in his current state, nor would I want see Liverpool aspire to it If it existed. De Jong and giroud - get it done FSG, those two will be something spesh.

01 May 2012 07:43:54
Lots of talk re: de jong and giroud, I'd be thrilled with either. De Jong and Suarez would be a nightmare for any defense and giroud's control and finishing are excellent. Any serious discussion on Carroll leaving even if on loan ? He's got potential but he's attack on goal and desire to get position on defenders/present a genuine target is sorely lacking

01 May 2012 07:32:15
hi all just been reading some posts on fans views on are transfer dealings , and it seems we need to be spending in 25 to 40 mill mark to get a good player.lets take eden hazzard he's is being harked round at 30 mill ,and everyone assumes he must be a good player,he probably is a good player and worth every penny..but if he was being tauted around the 8 to 10 mill mark would that make him a bad player?? man city paid 32 mill for robinho and everyone was raving about him.yet it never worked out for him..they paid 6mill for kompany who is argubly the best cb in the prem at the moment..i just don't think a players price tag should cloud are judgement ..let's judge the player on his ability not his pricetag.not all signing's will work that's football ...so lets get behind who ever we sign .....and you never know we might find a couple of gems....dave d

Agree completely.

If I were an owner, I would find it very difficult to ever sanction spending 35 million on one player, but rather on three or four players. How much did Agger cost? Lucas? Skrtl? Yet they are our best players. Unfortunately, it is human nature to be attraced to whatever costs the most.

Oh, I would avoid Hazard like the plague. His attitude stinks.

01 May 2012 07:13:49
To the one who has been saying marin and poldi would be good for whom they have signed for and elm would be bad for us, can you gaurente that? the transfer of any player is risk who know hazard may find it hard in epl? look at ed022 no one actualy had known him but he has been one of best for most of fan! who knows this may be case for elm? finger crossed~_~

Lads, you should all just relax and settle a little.
Kenny has us playing some beautiful football again, something i have not seen us play in years.
Ok, so our league position is not ideal, you can put that down to being unlucky and lets not forget we lost a hell of an outstanding midfielder early on in the campaign. Suarez's suspension was also a huge factor in our form or lack there of!
Lets all get behind the boys for Saturday and with a bit of luck we can bring home the fa cup.
I believe with 3 good signings this summer we will be pushing for at least 4th next season and from there who knows.

I said that yesterday keep up!

Macca/EDs, by new stadium do you mean a new Anfield or a new stadium entirely??? I really hope you aren't saying we will leave our home.. {Ed002's Note - The implication is that it is a "new" stadium.}

I love Anfield but when you see the taxpayer funded Eastlands we probably need to move forward with a new stadium if possible. Or we will stand still for ever.

Hazard is aptly named. Stay away.

01 May 2012 02:27:10
liverpool are going backwards. rasmus elm is not good enough for a team competing for top half of the table, never mind a team thats looking to get back into the champions league! we should sign, dembele, dempsey, victor moses, soldado, susaeta and munian.

3 of those have been struggling to get into the top half of the premier league, 2 of those could finish as low as 14th [like us] and the other one will cost a lot of money.

01 May 2012 02:23:23
Macca, you previously said we were staying at Anfield, but now we've found a partner to build a new stadium and "that's what the owners want". If they wanted that, then what led you to believe we were staying at Anfield?

Which is it mate?

Cheers, rednakis

Redeveloping Anfield was obviously the favoured option when Macca posted, or he wouldn't have said it.

But there are hundreds of people and several major players involved in the situation, all of whom are subject to their outside influences and changing circumstances, and maybe the emergence of a naming rights partner offering a better deal could have swung the balance in favour of the new stadium? We still don't know for sure either way.

So please don't anyone have a go at Macca for giving us info on the situation as it stood months ago.

right to put this as most likely B.S but some does sound well... errm sound!
I personaly know a guy who is a junior sports journalist - my brother!

and these are the circulating rumours
andy carroll will go on loan to white hart lane as a replacement for adebyore, whos wages they cannot afford.
R.Elm has agreed initial terms to join LFC
G.Ramirez - no bid has been made
luuk de jong has been watched by liverpools top scouts and manager kenny dalglish
Roberto soldado is LFC's number 1 target for the summer, but personal terms may hinder the move, with other european teams watching the player.
K.dalglish will remain as manager and will be given all funds from TV rights plus player sales, which is to be reported around £40m - a possible £60m depending on who is sold.

This is odd... you've said that the source is a kid in the tottenham youth program via his dad in the post below... and the way I can tell it is you beneath is that you spelt Adebayor the same way... and I've never seen anyone spell it that way. Unlucky mate!

Strangely enough, all the above are pretty realistic except for Carroll's move to Spurs.

Hi Eds, not transfer related but just wondering if, with Hodgson now about to be named England mgr, had anybody heard any rumours about what the Liverpool players thought of him and if they had any respect for him during his time at the club?
Cheers,
JoeyB {Ed003's Note - Nope}

Not posted loads recently but as a proud Dad would like to add Jack to the LFC family born at 19:59 this evening in the Liverpool Women's.

Could be start of a great week.

PS there is a big digger in melwood at moment by Crown Road end, reckon it could be burying Poulson under FA directive.

Macca. " we are staying at anfield" -- "Just been told that we have found a partner to build a new stadium.."
Which is it pal? Cant have 2 stadiums? lol

Also if we have a partner to build it, does that mean it will be named after said company?
cheers
Ben the red

Maybe Macca has said to much!

Since this was his latest post on the subject I am going to go with new stadium.

yes it will be or some part of that companies name.

Hmm maybe.

Im not calling anyone a liar, it just doesnt make sense.
The we are staying was posted march, and now in may we are getting new stadium.

Either macca just got it wrong, which is fine, or the owners are chop changing their minds, and there is no real set plan? :S

Hope its the former rather than latter.

Click agree if you would like a new stadium 60k stadium with option to expand, or disagree if you would prefer anfield upped to 60k

Ben the red

Maybe a new Anfield?

Or maybe Macca just chats nonsense!

So glad his conflicting statements have finally been highlighted...cant wait to hear his hollywood excuses. The eds seem quiet about this, cat got ur tongues?

There's no way the owners would be changing their minds every couple of months...they would have a set plan from months ago...macca chats bs ive been sayin all along.

He's a fraud

Or maybe stuff changes. They obviously can't build a new stadium without a naming partner so, if a few months ago they felt they were unable to find one, the logical conclusion would be to stay. Now that they seem to have found a partner, they can go ahead with a new stadium.

It's not rocket science. Things change. Plan A changes to Plan B then back to Plan A again with new potential investment.

If the owners changed their mind, that is a good thing. An intelligent person changes their mind as circumstances or facts change. Can't remember who said that - may have been Einstein.

"I'm not calling anybody a liar". That is code for: I'm calling somebody a liar.

I think Macca has never mentioned Rasmus Elm, either.Very quiet on the ones he fails to mention,is Mr Macca.Maybe he's not as informed as we think all think he his.

Just been told that we have found a partner to build a new stadium..

Not sure if it is 100% true but I believe it is what the owners are looking for.

Cheers

Macca

Thanks mate.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Great news, Macca! Any news on new signings? Even scraps will do! Singred

No Redevelopment then ?

Rav

Hope it's not Everton!

LIVERPRES

This just put a smile on my face

Cheers Macca, this is the night that keeps on giving.

Dirks Engine Room

Thanks, Macca. Let's hope it works out for us!

Thanks Macca- the usual clowns will start on about how you previously said they decided to redevelop Anfield, but the rest if us understand that circumstances change in such a huge deal as this, so please try to ignore the idiots.

If new stadium plan is a goer then can you explain why the centenary stand lounges are being done up over summer and rumours of increased ticked prices? Is that attempt to increase short term revenue pending new stadium build or a commitment to stay. Exec boxes and other parts of stadium have also been done up too...L19 Red

Everyone seems to be complaining that we are not going for BIG names.. well was Cisse really one of these "big name" players and look at what he has done at newcastle. It doesn't matter about names, just as long as they try as hard as they can and get the job done!

Great weekend of Liverpool scouting. They go to Spain to watch Sussaeta and Munian and they dont start and Kenny apparently goes to watch Elm and he doesnt play at all.Maybe someone can enlighten me.Does this happen often? Or is this just a sign of how bad our scouting has been and will be?
Galls

Thats probably why we never sign our first choice players... Lol

Speeds

Or maybe you listen to too many rumours of who is where and why....?

cozinoz

How selfish of Rasmus Elms' wife to go into labour and have a baby just when Kenny was comin over. She could have at least waited!!

MikeHoopersGloves

Not a rumour cosinoz. The article about kenny being In holland is on Sportinglife for all to see.And I thought scouting involved everything from playing ability to background info e.g if he's a big boozer or his wife's about to give birth.Surely his agent would have let them know about this?Poor if you ask me...

ED is it true the new shirt is sleavless with breathable holes?

Yeah coz they're gonna make sleaveless shirts for them to wear in november in england! We can't turn it into basketball and make the net even smaller than it is now we'd never get it in!

MikeHoopersGloves

I can confirm this is true. It is inspired by Rab C Nesbitt.

Hi Eds, do we still have interest in appointing Deschamps as a potential successor to Kenny? I certainly hope not because they have been even more woeful than us this season. Cheers

GJ {Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}
