Just renewed my Season Ticket.
Didn't manage to get to 3 League games so expected a credit as I gave loads of notice on at least 2 of them (WBA and Arsenal. probably Reading aswell).
Got Hick-all as they say they couldn't re-sell the seats. Bollox.
Arsenal at home with 5 weeks notice?. b*******!
I hope the best part of £150 goes to good use in the Summer. though I suspect it barely covers an hour of therapy for Luis.
Disgruntled doesn't cover it.
ANFIELDPETE

If you can't get to a mtach why don't you sell the ticket? You can sell them on viagog

Call me next time please. lol.
Can't believe the arsenal one wasn't sold. You should have asked at the next game was anyone in your seat.
YNWA
Hanman

Lfc have never cared about the fans they know that we go because we love the club /team and they use that against us.

Sadly last poster is correct hurts me to admit love club but as long as I've had my season ticket loads of occassions s it on!-not least!-outrageous unjustified price hike for next Seasons ticket. Were not only ones but we are pushing for place in Europe in the s it on own take for granted stakes. And been more consistant in that fact OFF the pitch then on-good job I love them- (but of course that is what they play on!

02 May 2013 14:43:16
stop bitching. you sound like whiney little girls. I dream of a chance to take you so expensive ticket one day to help them REBUILD ANFIELD and buy players, not come on a banter page and moan and bitch about it!

Last poster I flog my guts out and go without for my ticket. Lost job and still JUST RETAINED it-whilst YOU WHINE about affording one!And in last few years Our Money you say is invested in making team better obviously hadn't been invested correctly or well enough giving us who scrimp scrape (flogged decent car for older one for love of club) the right to whine person!

Last poster you Obviosly don't love club enough to deprive yourself of luxuries to go to games even odd game enjoy using your necessary I pad or lap top to post your expert knowledge of clubs use age of our cash!

01 May 2013 22:54:41
Kind of a dumb question. But if we had the ability to lure, and somehow afford to buy Ibra from PSG, could a club like ours afford his wages for, let's say, two years? Just some banter here.

Lol, i'd have him no where near our club. No loyalty nor passion. When he shows passion its more to do with him trying for himself, then the team. I'd rather ahve beckham.

Id rather have Gameiro.

01 May 2013 22:36:08
Do u know if jonjo is leaving this summer

Hopefully only on loan

I'd say he will move on. Most likely to stoke.

02 May 2013 15:11:03
if we are letting him go on the cheap, I think its very wise to loan him out, 5 million for shelvy is not good enough in any form, shape or matter. I know people slag him off, but realisticly a 21 year old English player who is bossing the U21 international stage and can play any where in midfield

01 May 2013 22:21:08
Looking forward to seeing Jamies unbiased opinion on Sky next season. Jamie, Redknapp, Souness and Neville will be a great line up. Here's how I rate them as pundits.

No1 is Carragher
No2 is Carragher
No3 is Carragher
No4 is Carragher

We all dream of. .

Redknapp is really biased towards Liverpool. Neville won't admit but he has a soft spot for Liverpool. Souness is a shocking pundit and shouldn't have a job! Redknapp and Neville are big suarez fans too!

We are turning down the chance to play in Europe through the fair play league, so we can go on a money spinning pre season tour. This is why I dislike FSG, Ian Ayre and Brendan Rodgers. Imagine telling Rafa to forget about Europe, we have got a couple of lucrative friendlies to play. It is all based on money. I find it ridiculous and pathetic. Rodgers seems to be the yes man I thought we were getting.
What happened to this club existing to win trophies?
JFT96
Smithy

As a fan over the otherside of the world (New Zealand) I am so glad they are coming, I've been a fan for years but never had the opportunity to see them play live. 250,000 fans will be in the same boat I imagine. The exposure, funds and recognition the club will get from this tour will pay dividends in the future.

Have no preseason at all and rushing into the earlist stages of europa league will do no good to our top 4 chances next season. THIS IS THE REAL GOAL. We need a preaseason together for the players to live together, work together and bond and get more experience as a team.

Kiwi LFC Fan

Getting into europe via fairplay is embarrassing enough. The friendlies are most likely guranteed money, while europe isnt.

I very much doubt BR would have any say in a matter such as this. Leave him out of it

You are person! Do you know why we aren't the best team on the pitch in England anymore? It's because we aren't the best off it. Man united are! It's time to catch up! I believe we should sell the name of anfield and explore every method possible to make money.

We are obsessed with our history! Who cares, it's time to make history and not talk about it!

" it is all based on money"? Of course it's all based on money. Do you think we get the players for nothing? How do you think we pay their wages?. This tour was probably sorted months ago, we'd get our asses sued if we tried to pull out.

01 May 2013 21:38:42
Is suarez going to turn down bayern munich
Which is clearly the best team in world at the moment soo strong at back and jus soo strong physically wow really impressive

Barca were a joke over the last two games they were weak and slow

Basy

01 May 2013 21:38:13
Eds fellow reds. hope BR has just seen tika taka football smashed to pieces by a well balanced hard working team.

Obviously you have brushed Barca dominaton of europe and Spain's under the carpet.

When I was looking for our new shirt online I spotted genoas new shirt. It's a proper retro one to celebrate 100 years, it's worth a look.

MIKEY

Just looked it up and it oozes class. Wouldn't mind something like that with red and gold stripes instead.

Big sign outside melwood today saying Ian Eyre is looking for a new buyer at Liverpool FC. Someone went to the trouble of placing this trailer outside melwood gates.
This coud be true or a practical joke

It said ' Is Ian Eyre selling LFC again?
Not he's looking for a new buyer

01 May 2013 21:28:10
eds what are the chances of us getting mourinho? we are still a big club aren't we? so he should want to come

rekon a couple of Bayern players would be class aswell, they are killing barca. brendon brendon sign em up {Ed002's Note - I would not hold your breath.}

Luis gustavo will be available in the summer and can play every position we are weak in eg CB LB DM {Ed002's Note - He looks bound to move elsewhere, so again, not one to hold your breath over.}

More chance of Cameron Diaz-mmmmm

01 May 2013 20:30:38
hi eds, apparently (if we sell Suarez) we could have an all Spanish strike force of David Villa, Michu and Fernando Torres? LFC13

Villa and Michu would be class

Villa is past his best and michu at this moment is a 1 season wonder, which we have all seen before

Warrior keep getting better and better!

This years Home kit was bland but good.
The away was stunning and the THIRD inovative and groundbreaking.

I knew they would be a hard act to follow but the away and third leaked today are stunning they are why I buy kits!

Thanks Warrior you have killed the dull days of yellow, white and grey and given us a new exciting blue era.

In the 70s and 80s I was embarrsed to call myself an LFC fan because of are poor kits, WARRIOR you have given me my pride back!

Do you work for warrior by any chance? Lol

MIKEY

The new away & third kit looks like they were designed by a five year old. Absolutely horrendous.

This years third kit is absolute rubbish. It looks like something a Samoan wrestler would wear. Innovative, no. Really ugly, yes.

Like the home kit.

but the away kit looks like atari has been sick on it and the 3rd kit was made as a joke I think in the hope we never have to wear it (I hope)

Im going to stick to buying the home kit as per

Pk

Just uploaded a pic of new kits I found, hope its not fake the white away kit looks a lot better than the ones doing the rounds at the mo!

Thats the goalkeeper home kit

Yeah just realised! gutted if that means its the other kits doing the rounds!, maybe ill be getting the keepers kit this season!

Ed001
Any predictions for possible old faces / friends that may appear in a red shirt for Stevie Gerrard's Testinonial in August?
I'll have a go and say Xabi Alonso might show a face.
Torres - are they still mates?
Micheal Owen maybe?
I don't know how the two would be received - well, I do but would it be kept friendly for the occasion?
Kenny's bound to be there, and I'd love to see him have half an hour on the pitch.
Suarez? Haha, let's not get into that one.
But should be a great afternoon and surely a full house as well.
The Juicer {Ed001's Note - I wouldn't be surprised to see Didi and maybe even God.}

01 May 2013 19:22:43
Hello.

I have seen our so called new home kit from a leaked website. whether or not it is or not the one you can gurantee the writing will be yellow again. is it just me or could the kit (and this years for that matter) look so much better with white writing and logos?

The sooner it goes back to white the better. the yellow just doesn't give it enough distinction.

thoughts?

I hope they keep this years kit, I actually think it's quite amazing

What it should be like on the home kit IMO is the liverbird and warrior logo in yellow and the standard chartered logo in white.

Yellow is the best!

01 May 2013 19:21:57
Hi Eds, thanks for this great site. From all I've read here and elsewhere I think its unlikely that more than 4 players will join this summer. I see a new centre back arriving (with Kelly & Wisdom as cover), a right side wide man (Ince?), an attacking midfielder (Eriksen? hope so) and possibly a goalkeeper (but hope Reina stays). But I haven't read very much at all on a genuine left back to give Enrique some competition (other than some Danny Rose rumours and I don't believe BR will want to use Johnson or Downing at LB when/if Enrique is injured). So do you think a youth player will get a chance at LB this coming season? Maybe Brad Jones? I know BR was impressed by him and took him to the US with the first team last summer, not sure if he is going to Oz this time? {Ed002's Note - Robinson perhaps?}

I honestly can't see Brad Jones playing at left back, sorry.

What about a right back to give Johnston competition, McLaughlin promoted from U-21s perhaps. Enrique's consistency has been better this year (although still can't cross his fingers) whilst Johnston seems to be playing with a square ball at times. His decision making also shocking.
Ciario80

Honestly I wouldn't be at all disappointed to see Johnson move on!

01 May 2013 19:14:50
I have read a few posts trying to justify the potential signing of Alex Pearce, and it just goes to show how far we have fallen. He is not good enough to be playing for us, and never will be. I would rather give Kelly, Wisdom, Coates or even Sama a chance over him.
It was interesting to see Nuri Sahin celebrating yesterday, and it got me thinking, why did we sign him, to play him out of position? He is a very good footballer, and his best position is as a 'deep lying playmaker'. However, we decide to play him as a no. 10, and it clearly didn't work. So, instead of then giving him a chance in his proper position, he falls down the pecking order, below Shelvey, Allen, Henderson and Lucas, and we send him back. Ridiculous. What I found most interesting was his opinion on Rodgers. To say he is not a fan is an understatement. Sahin is one of a number of players who have been poorly treated and managed under Rodgers, Suso, Shelvey, Robinson, Coates and Skrtel have been too, which isn't a good thing. We should have made better use of Nuri, and before somebody comments, I know he was only on the bench yesterday.
I see there is some discussion regarding kits, and all I will say is if you are over the age of 14, and are planning on buying/wearing a full kit/the top out in public, don't. You look ridiculous.
On a positive note, it is good to see Henderson developing into a good player, and Coutinho looks special. The lad is a joy to watch, and I think will have a massive role in winning us the derby this Sunday. Sturridge is also looking like a good signing, and with his pace and finishing ability, he offers us something different to Suarez, and makes it easier at times for the rest of the team as his pace can be used as an out ball. Plus, and it has suprised me, he is very good at holding the ball up, and it has been a big problem for us at times this season, that when the ball is cleared, it comes straight back, as none of the front 3 could hold onto the ball, away at United for example. Rodgers deserves credit for January, it was our best transfer window for a while, Nuri leaving apart.
JFT96
Smithy

Shelvey poorly treated and managed. ? I'm pretty sure Rodgers is huge on Shelvey, Took him aside a couple times on the show to tell him how he see's him as the future of Liverpool.

Good post.
I will be interested to see how they mark Coutinho, and where Moyes plays Fellaini. That will tell us how confident Everton are. If the hair bear plays further up the pitch, Everton fancy it.
It should be a cracker though.
The Juicer

I think we are getting on fine without him, I don't think he had the stomach for the PL, and as you said he was on the bench last night, so I don't get why even bring him up.

as for people wearing jerseys. well mind your own that's all I can say.

IOM it was down to sahin's stubbornness when he did play in the advanced role he got a couple of goals and assists. we had gerrard and lucas in the deeper mid positions, so rodgers was not going to disrupt them playing together for someone who probably would not be there next year.

No name, Shelvey has been terrible since Stoke away, when he wasn't given a game for months after, and left him with very little confidence in his game. He started the season very well, and has got worse as it has gone on.
The Juicer, yeah it should be a very good game, Moyes has a tendency of bottling it in big games, and I can see it continuing this weekend. He has never won at United, Chelsea, Arsenal or us in the league since he has been at Everton, and Coutinho will cause them a lot of problems I think.
Red Branch, if Sahin is too weak for the league then surely Coutinho is too? I dislike that argument, the German league is fast paced and can be physical too, although maybe not Stoke away standards. I explained why I brought it up. On "jerseys" I will stick with my opinion thanks, and since it was being discussed, I will express my opinion, like everyone is entitled to. Who are you to tell me what I can and can't say?
JFT96
Smithy

Here we go lol. Who are you to tell people not to wear their tops out in public!

A deep lying playmaker needs to tackle. Sahin was obviously scared to go in hard after his injuries so wasn't tackling. With our defense a shambles, we couldn't afford that hole so instead of dropping him, we moved him around to give him some playing time to build fitness and confidence in a less physical role. And his response was to bitch and moan about how the team should be organised around him. You call that mismanagement? The mismanagement was that he wasnt sent back sooner.

I fail to see at all how Coates, Suso, Shelvey and Robinson have been mismanaged. Robinson is our on loan to get some first team football, Suso is very young and couldn't deal with the physical approach of CB's so has been moved out of the limelight to bulk up. Coates has just been too poor to play, and Shelvey hasn't played after being sent off vs united and suffering a massive loss of form and confidence which takes time to build up. I'll give you Skrtel, but for the rest - where exactly is the mismanagement?

And as for Pearce - have you seen him play against decent opposition regularly? No. So you have no idea how good he is or isnt. Not saying he is good enough or he isn't, but don't try and trash other peoples opinions when you have no idea yourself either

01 May 2013 19:12:23
Hey eds please post as I want people to see this.
Suarez was a relative unknown in global football until he joined Liverpool and was propelled to global stardom with joining us and having a massive fan base and global following. Yes he has been superb since arriving in footballing terms but Liverpool fc gave him that chance to be a superstar not Suarez making us a global club overnight.
He owes us after everything the club and city have done for him not the other way round.
Daveylivercabs

Suarez was pretty well known before he joined us. I remember Manchester United being interested in him sometime back when he was at Ajax.

The real AG

Unknown? Suarez was Ajax captain and played for Uruguay at the 2010 World Cup. To the majority of even casual fans he was a well known name.

IDM

Unknown? ask a Ghanaian how unknown he is. Was he hell an unknown

eds. with Macca saying man city are interested in br, who would be your preferance as next man in should he go? I don't want him to go and don't think he will. he's made steady progress from where we was last year and next year will be THE important 1. hypothetical of course just wondered what every1s opinions are.

Robbie fowler because he is god

Sami Hyypia has yo be in contention doing great in Germany!

Just seen the leaked pictures of the new shirt. It's red so I'm happy

Where did you see mate?

Where did you see it dude?

I can't promise you it's the same link as Mr. Banana but it's the best I can find SPOILER ALERT, it will reveal the new home kit ;)
http://epltalk.com/2013/05/01/Liverpool-home-shirt-for-2013-14-season-revealed-leaked-photo/

I just googled Liverpool fc shirt 2013/14 and a website with loads of leaked shirts from all over Europe came up. scroll down to Liverpool. That away shirt is shocking haha

MIKEY

01 May 2013 18:24:01
What's the point of signing Pearce? I hope it's hogwash. Don't rate him at all. He makes Carra look like Baresi.

I'd much rather give Kelly or Wisdom a try. Seriously- Alex Pearce strengthens our squad? Don't think so.

Singapore Red

I would imagine if its true we are signing Pearce he will be for cover with it looking likely that Carra Skrtel Wilson and Coates all might be going we will need back up surely even if we do use Wisdom and Kelly more next season

01 May 2013 18:11:37
Just had a look at the new leaked kit designs. They look legit (hung up on a shop wall with tags)
The home shirt is almost identical bar the neck so won't be buying that.
The away shirt looks like the love child of a 90s Liverpool shirt and a Xmas jumper (a tumble in the tumble dryer perhaps) so won't be buying that.
The third shirt isn't too bad, or best of a bad bunch so looks like it will have to be that.
Seriously though whoever designed that away shirt needs to be sacked.

MIKEY

01 May 2013 17:56:51
Hi eds and reds was just wondering when do we get to see the new kits for next season is it tonight? If so dose any one know what time they are going to release the pics. Thanks.

01 May 2013 17:44:32
Eds what was the significance of the takeover by FSG. Did they completely clear our debt or was it just partly cleared.

Reason I ask is if UTD can get away with rhe amount of debt they are in, do you see us going the same route to allow more expendature on players/wages?

Or am I just waffling tripe? {Ed002's Note - I don't want to discuss the finances but you misunderstand about the debt and no doubt the losses the club are making.}

01 May 2013 17:15:42
For me a perfect, realistic summer includes diame, kouyate of anderletch & mertens. And a replacement for Suarez if he leaves

Yeap ave that

01 May 2013 17:11:42
If I was Rodgers, invest in a top young goalie 16-19yrs, maybe get on the belgium bandwagon because every belgium in england now r top quality and they don't seem to fear r league, Dries Merterns? Loic Remy must be a obv must aleast make a bid, A hench at the back would be Angelo Ogbonna quality, fast, strong, young! maybe a box to box allrounder like momo Diame and I would love to see Luke Shaw at Lverpool next year, he's the future Garath Bale

How can someone be the future Gareth Bale when Bale is only 23? Ridiculous statement.

Plus his strengths are actually in defending not going forward, which suggest he'll stay a defender

01 May 2013 17:06:14
Brilliant with the my account bit eds! Top class

01 May 2013 16:10:07
Hi Eds

Great job on the site. I don't know why people repeat themselves on here. TO summarise for everyone whoever you think we are getting we are not getting. No Eriksen, no Williams, no Martinez, no Pearce, no Shaqiri, no Remy, no Alonso.

We will make sumemr signings but I would be surprised to see a "Marquee signing" we are looking to strengthen the squad not revolutionise. The only chance of a big name is if Suarez goes, which all be it is more likely since he go a bit bitey but I personally don't think will happen.

In Summer things will become more clear with names that have not been mentioned being bought.

01 May 2013 16:03:01
Anyone seen the apparent Liverpool kits for next year? They are h*cking awful. The away is quite possibly the worst football kit ever.

IDM

I agree they are awful. rather than keeping it secret why not get the fans involved and vote for favourites out of a 'top three' designs.

Am I being crazy in thinking this may actually mean we potentially sell more shirts?!

DJ

DJ - yes you are.

What's so bad about the shirts?

01 May 2013 15:47:35
Is it just the new 13/14 Home kit being released tonight, or the away and 3rd kit as well?, hope they aren't the same as the leaked versions, they looked awful, and I don't think will go down at all well.
Eds opinions on those leaked kit pictures?

Just the home mate

01 May 2013 14:39:33
I as a mainly realistic fan accept that Liverpool is no longer one of the most fashionable clubs to sign for in Europe (due to the lack of champions league football, our inability to challenge for the league title and our wage structure that scares away the more illustrious of transfer targets) therefore we can automatically forget about spending £30million on players like Eriksen, Falcao or Cavani those days are over especially with the new financial fair play rules coming in effect soon.
Liverpool can consider itself lucky that we have over the years invested into our academy and scouting network, to find the best emerging talent around the world.
Finally we now find ourselves in a position where we have a manger who will promote and use academy players in the right way to ensure they have long successful careers at Liverpool and avoid burnout like so many previous academy starlets.
This summer I predict that there will be one last push from the richest clubs to secure the best current players around with potentially over 500 million being spent in by the premier league teams.
Liverpool's approach will be somewhat different in which they will spend big on one maybe two players but not over 10 million, they will look at the Bosman markets and in the championship for players Rodgers can develop and improve or at players across the European leagues who are frustrated/bored at their current club, that's why deep down we know there is certain elements of truth linking us to players like Pearce, Remy and Montoya. To those "fans" who say that there isn't any quality further down the footballing ladder may need reminding that some of Liverpool's greatest players came from lower league clubs, and also to those same fans who say Rodgers is bad for the club and his signings have been poor take this into consideration; Allen and Borini are young players who were either injured or playing with injury for most of this campaign given time they will improve, something Rodgers seems to be good at (improving players) e. g. Henderson and Downing.
So when it does come to the transfer window expect 5 squad players to leave as they don't fit the system and expect 5-7 new faces to arrive in and give them time to adjust because our expectations can and perhaps do weigh heavy on our team.
Personally I think we'll sign a GK, CBx2, RB/LB, RW and a ST, no idea who could be anybody.
Rant Over (opinions welcome)
Thanks,
Kieran.

We don't need to attract 30m euro players, We need to start jumping on players like Falcao and Jackson Martinez at 3m when we get the chance. We've been close to signing some pretty good players who seem to blow up right after we miss out on them.

I completely agree, we need to sign the falcaos and matas of this world when they are worth 3million, but some of the arrrogant fans out there would suggest theey are not good enough.

Anonymous woolback

Well said Woolback, it's great in theory to buy those players but we then need to give them a chance when they don't score a double hatrick, 3 goal line clearances and pull a rabbit out of a hat for the children in the stands on their first match

01 May 2013 14:37:00
Julio Cesar should be a possible choice now for us. What say ed's?

Are you ill?

He is on over 100k p/w but mainly is over-rated and just been relegated.

01 May 2013 13:48:34
I'm not convinced we can get eriksen but I'm hopeful we can. think he could replace gerrard in that advanced midfield role he used to play so well but btw when I say that gerrard is by no way past it. my point is eriksen played with suarez at ajax, could Liverpool if interested use him in the negotiation process to convince eriksen of the club and it's plans and also Rodgers? I feel it could sway it? just a punt.
Lucas was obviously speaking with coutinho just before the move got finalised or was it long before?

What about agger he could sway him more so

Remember Daniel agger and eriksen play for Denmark and agger is the captian, I hope agger can convince him and if we bring in alderwerild as well that will only help us to get eriksen

01 May 2013 16:28:57
The mind boggles. In the same post you ask Eriksen to play the number 10 role, you acknowledge the fact we signed an equally as good number 10 in Coutinho!

We don't need Eriksen. He's too similar to Coutinho, and we also have Suso, Texeira, Shelvey, Adorjan and Trickett-Smith all capable of playing the number 10 role. Even Suarez could play there. Why waste most of our summer budget on the one and only position we already have adequate depth in? Well, right back and in goal of course.

YNWA! (Adam)

01 May 2013 13:39:23
On the defence:

This Ilori guy apparently broke the Sporting sprint record set by Ronaldo. He must be a bloody fast centre back! (although he did actually start out as a striker!). I think He'd be a good replacement for Coates. They are similar in terms of squad role (young back up) but 100% different in style. Coates is more a "if in doubt, kick it out" giant with no pace. Ilori is a fast reader of the game, who can hold a high line but he is also 6ft3. I have actually been lucky enough to see him play in youth matches due to the Lisbon accademys high profile. I have never seen him in a first team game though.

Pearce would be a great replacement for Skrtel. He is a brute, who is actually a brute! Not just a bald Slovakian with a lot of tattoos. He would be great against the likes of Stoke and West Ham against forwards who like to bully defenders. He is also a free transfer, on low wages, and only 24 years old with vast experience in the English game. Rodgers knows him well as he captained Reading during Rodgers time. I actually rate this guy, and he has been likened to a young John Terry (although we see that all the time; Gary Cahill, Phil Jones etc). He is as good as Skrtel in my opinion, but Skrtel has pedigree in Russia, and would likely command a decent fee from the likes of Zenit or Anzhi. A free player in, and a £10-15m sale out (plus less wages to cover) means more money to spend on other areas without a weakened defence. The other option is Botia (who is also a cheap alternative), although he doesn't stike me as a rough it up kind of guy. perhaps because he is spanish.

The final defender we need to replace is the one that's going to be difficult. Carragher is retiring. that's a huge loss. We need a player who can match his ability, and his leadership qualities. I think Wisdom is the man to do this, but he's 3 years away from being ready as a centre back in my opinion. Kelly could step in and match Carra in my opinion, but imagine this:
Kelly, Agger, Pearce, Ilori, Sama
The first choice pairing are both injury prone players, the next player is more of a back up/stand in player in terms of quality, and the last two have never even played in a decent top flight league being just 20 years old. Kelly is also likely to be depended on to cover right and left back occasionally. Carragher needs a proper replacement. I pray its not Williams. I genuinely believe Andre Wisdom would be a better option than Williams, and I just said he's not ready. Williams is nearly 30 and is very slow, so would not sit well alongside Agger. We need a fast player there. I say his name every time, Micah Richards. He is powerful, fast, strong in the air, can tackle well, is not limited to just one foot like our current options, can bring the ball forward. Yes, he's only 5ft11, but he wins the headers still. He has captained City, and played centre back since he was 18 in the Premier league. Its only Citys money that's forced him to adapt to a right back. Name one player who could displace Kompany? I doubt even Pique could. First team football in his best position would get him here I'm sure. Maybe Sturridge could put in a good word. I really hope its not Alderweireld we get though. He is so similar to Agger its unreal, only he's a poor mans Agger. It would be an awful partnership. Both are too slow to hold a high line together, although Agger at least tracks his runners better than Alderweireld does! Definite no. Ogbonna would be a decent option. I don't know anything about Zambrano. De Vrij and Indi will stay where they are, I'm sure. They have a great partnership, and could well both be picked for the world cup. They will stay for guaranteed football, and to show the national side how good they are together. I don't think either would partner Agger well anyway. Ogbonna or Richards for me, as both can provide cover across the backline, and offer pace in the middle.

I think an option of Johnson, McLaughlin, Wisdom, Kelly, Richards/Ogbonna, Agger, Pearce/Botia, Ilori, Sama, Enrique, Robinson (maybe Brad Smith too) is enough to get us through the season in good stead.

Reina will probably stay, as will Jones. If either left, I'd like McCarthy from Reading. Either as an understudy to Reina, or a replacement should it come to that. I'm happy with what we've got though, and the young guy Ward is some keeper!

With Lucas our only recognised Defensive midfielder, and Spearing likely to leave, I'd like to see us sign another. Coady and Baio are good, as is Pelosi (although he's out for a while with a double fracture to his shin bone). A guy we have been linked with is Jonathon Dos Santos. I think he'd be a decent back up to be honest. Diame would be a good player, but he's not like for like to Lucas. Which could be better, as he'd battle the more physical teams, and match them. He goes forward more though, and doesn't dictate the tempo like Lucas or Dos Santos. Not sure he'd suit our system, but I'd personally gamble on him anyway, rather than Santos. I think Variety is as important as cover. We don't want one unadaptable system, and completely identical back ups for each player.

To conclude, If we sold Skrtel, Coates, (Carragher retire), Wilson, Flanagan and Spearing; then replaced them with Pearce/Botia, Ilori, Richards/Ogbonna, (Sama promoted), (McLaughlin promoted) and Diame/Dos Santos I'd be a happy man. I think we'd come out with a younger, more talented group of defensive players, with money to spare, and lower wages to pay. Even if its not these exact players, these are the main positions I want to see filled in the summer with players similar to those mentioned. I am happy with our fowards, and think maybe adding one flair player who can play up top or on the left (but likes to drift in like Coutinho (who should be played behind the striker every week) did playing there). Turan or Villa as a kind of 'Marquee' (hate that word) signing would really get the fans excited going into next season. I'd prefer Villa for his big game experience and the fact he is proven to be brilliant in the system we want to play. The focus primarily has to be on the defence though.

PS. Why do people still bang on about Eriksen? Coutinho and Suso should be used in the number 10 role next year. Texeira may even fight for the spot. Why do we need four centre attacking midfielders, all about 20 years old, all with massive potential. Eriksen would just stagnate the growth of the 3 we currently have, and is he really much better than Coutinho anyway? Suso has the most potential of the lot regardless. Sorry for the length Eds, please don't relegate me to the teams page : ( haha, I fought the temptation to do a formation and squad list.

Because erikson could take downings place in the team let's say erikson coutinho suarez sturridge/ sterling suso downing henderson borini as our attack options new dm? lucas henderson gerrard allen coady as midfield options that's strong options two cb someone young with flexibility can also play lb and a ready made replacement for carra

I love tis post Adam! I'm with you 100%; the best part for me being Alex Pearce!

Great post Adam, I agree with promoting the younger players from the academy, but I think we'll probably be doing most of our shopping from teams that get relegated. I imagine Alex McCarthy, Pearce, Remy, James McCarthy (if Wigan go down) di Santo (free agent) would be the most likely targets because buying players like Richards and ogbonna are going to cost us to much.

I agree about Eriksen. I can also see Texeira overtaking Suso and battling for a place with Couthino or at least a place on the bench.

The Irish Rover

Good post Adam, nice to see a realistic view for a change! I remain unsure about Richards and Ogbonna as options though - Richards has been injured for a long while, and we need a player to walk right in; Ogbonna, I haven't watched him, but he seems to have stagnated, in the least because he is no longer linked with the Italian giants.
I was rather disappointed with us being linked to Pearce, but you got me thinking - the lad might not be such a bad investment after all:>
Looking forward to a great summer,

Drigan

"I say his name every time, Micah Richards. "

Right, so you say we need to sign another CB because Kelly is injury prone, yet you want to bring in another injury prone player?! One that I'm sure will command very handsome wages? No thank you.

You make an excellent point, however. Daniel Agger's partner needs to be physically supreme. Douglas would be a good candidate, free transfer too I believe.

Also I would much rather Kelly and Wisdom play CB than Pearce/Williams etc.

Finally, Lucas does need competition. I don't know if Victor Wanyama would be a possibility or not, but he would seriously push Lucas. I'm a big fan of William Kvist, if there's one player I would want to collect the ball from the GK, it's him. So composed.

I thought SUSO was supposed to be god I remeber a certain Ed going on about it

Suso is average at best.

Although he does sport one of the better hairstyles.

Richards does seem to be injury prone IMO, also he's not great at CB does not look composed when he plays there - admittedely he's never been given a real run. He wouldn't come to cheap either so you guys could do better I would think.

Good post though Adam, detailed and realistic. And you should NEVER apologise for your 'length' I'm sure I've told you this before ;)

Richards has had one season of injury. that's like calling Lucas injury prone. or Reina, he had two injuries this year. I don't think he's prone to injuries, just has had sone bad luck. I agree he'd need time to adjust back into the centre back role, but 5 years ago, he formed a formidable partnership with Dunne. he was regarded as the best young defender in the league. then came Citys money, and the rest is history. I think if we offered him a shot at that central spot he'd take a wage cut to do it.

YNWA! (Adam)

Suso is average at best? You mean the extremely talented 20 year old who bosses the u21's, has done pretty well in his senior appearances with some real class touches and is fine tuning himself to join the big league full time?

People need to calm down over reported press led transfer targets. Rodgers knows we need quality, so I'm sure quality will arrive. just because the club don't come out and comment on every transfer story doesn't mean that automatically were going to sign them. I know as fans were all desperate for transfer info, but the way club do there business inhouse is the right way to go. Keep the faith, Rodgers and other members of the club, know what we need to move forward.

I see a lot of people saying we should buy Bony, Waynama, Diame etc but is that really a good idea - us buying African players?

It works out ok for clubs like Chelsea and City (although they have been seriously harmed by it in the past despite their squad size), but when we're looking for a timmer effective squad do we really want key players that we can guarentee will be out for about a month and a half every 2 years at best, every year at worst? Look how badly it affected Newcastle last year - they might well have been in the CL last year were it not for the African Nations.

I've got no problem with African players as such of course, but the African Nations leave of absence on top of all the expected niggles and suspensions being guaranteed really puts me off paying lots for African players. Buying them means we are knowingly ruling out key players during the busiest part of the season and to me, that's a bad plan

Under rafa it was actually club policy that we didn't sign African players for that reason

Sounds wise to me unless you've got a big enough squad to cope, which Pool don't ATM.

Yet Rafa signed Momo Sissoko? Seems to be a flaw in your theory there Swampy!

Really happy as the Alex Pearce rumours are not true. We should just not buy a player because he is free. As Rodgers has said on a number of occassions we need quality over quantity.

For me a good summer will be
INS : Alberto Botia, toby alderweireld,
one of Capoue or Nordveidt (CDM), Hatem Ben Arfa and possibly a young upcoming keeper to replace Jones and Gulcasi.
OUTS : Carroll, Assaidi, Spearing, Shelvey, Coates, Skrtel, Carra.

What do you reckon fellow kopites?
I reckon everyone is attainable except maybe Ben arfa who will be a little hard to buy.

Awesome site development Eds.

LFC 'banter & rumours' is a great user friendly experience now -

Bravo! {Ed001's Note - thanks, though not sure what we have done to merit that!}

Liverpool's number one priority this summer should be to negotiate and buy as early and quickly as possible. Competition will be very high this summer. The sooner we acquire our targets the longer the new players and team can get used to each other.

I would suggest buy first, sell second, then we are not under price pressure and cannot be held to ransome. We should sell late in the window or even in January, then we can maximise what we get for our players as other teams will be under time pressure plus a big competitive squad is always useful in the first half of the season when we need to maintain a strong league challenge.

I would also try a Carroll & Sturridge combination or even Carroll & Countiho in pre season. All strikers mature & hit a career purple patch in & around the 25/26 years old mark. Carroll must be getting more experienced and in a good team like Liverpool is becoming could find a goal scoring niche for himself.

Also next year is also a world cup year, so many players will be wanting selection to finals, so we should target the hungry players who will want to prove themselves, Countinho is a good example where his form may attract his International manager.

Finally, Suarez is an outstanding player and no team sells their best players however if an incredible offer comes in and it is to a European team, then we should consider it but not waste it on an expensive replacement but maybe on a couple of quality players. Bearing in mind, attracting quality will be hard without CL football.

Barcelona sold Maradona, Utd sold Ronaldo, Liverpool sold Keegan and Rush. It is how you replace them that counts.
The only thing is with us, those teams were right at the top of the pile and could attract great players.

Be careful putting decent strategies on here mate. I think FSG scouted Comolli on the Spurs banter page after a similar post. Never trust a Frenchman to follow through with his battle plan though ;)

Lets see Keegan for Kenny

Thats a no brainer

Zidane's suggestion that a £60m price tag on Bale will not put off the top teams is probably correct, I see him at real next season.
I would not be surprised to see Modric return as part of the deal.
Real will have Bale and Ronaldo on the wings,
This may see Spurs spend some of the cash on a certain Tom ince who plays a similar position and is young. The clever buisness would be for Liverpool to buy Ince at a reduced rate and allow him to stay at Blackpool for the season ahead, if there is a sell on clause and his farther wants to keep him but bring in new players this might work out.
However, can we afford to spend on players and leave them for a year, and do we need a player in that position? It is a RW we are in need of.
I expect a few players to leave Spurs and for them to have a considerable Transfer Kitty, The Gunners have the UK's richest man on board and Chelsea, City and UTD will have loads to spend again.
We picked up Suarez ( discipline issues), Courthinio ( lack of form/games at inter and they are rebuilding ) and Sturridge ( could not get games due to expensive signings at previous clubs ), as relative bargains, but people need to realise that young promising players such as Henderson ( england u21 captain with good first team experience ) that are attracting the interest of the big clubs ( Utd I believe the ED's said ) will cost Top dollar.
I don't expect any names but I would be interested to know if Ed 01 knows of any genuine interest ( likelyhood ) in any player that interests/excites him at the momment? A simple Yes/No would give us a clue, but I guess it's subjective anyway. {Ed001's Note - very subjective, but it would have to be a no, though I wasn't excited by Coutinho and look how he has turned out!}

Thanks for the Answer Ed. and is probably what I was expecting. I see this as a window to bring in some expeience and squad building myself. A RW and CB will help a lot, and the younger players will have a season under the belt ( as well as having developed a bit physically ).
At the start of the season I watched UTD and really didn't rate them, thought they were the poorest side from them in a while. As there new young players got use to the style and each other though you could see them improve as they went. Just think we were about a year behind, and had to move on a lot of the squad in a short time ( something fergie has had years to do ).
We all know we need a CB but I think the right sided attacker could be the interesting one, and provide balance acroos the pitch.

As your not a spurs fan you wouldn't know that bale will be staying another season at least!

Is it just me, or does our transfer predictions run very much along the lines of:

1. Someone mentions a name they have picked up from Fifa or some journalist adding 2 and 2 together to get 22.

2. Someone logs out and repeats that name, so it looks like multiple sources/

3. People become convinced we are getting that person, they are the best signing of all time and it is all practically a done deal.

I mean seriously, Ilori replacing Carragher? Or Pearce? Ilori is 20 years old and has not even played 5 games for Lisbon (he mostly plays for their B team). He isn't an immediate replacement for Carragher. Pearce? Barely anyone on here has even seen him play this season, but it seems unlikely he's the guy that will be expected to instantly slot into our first team doesn't it? So why are people panicking and/or abusing Rodgers over an unconfirmed interest in a free transfer that hasn't happened yet? We really need to accept that we don't know the exactly players that are our priorities, we don't know how realistic many of our targets will turn out to be, we don't know who will be sold or how much we'll be able to spend and until someone actually from LFC tells us anything, we're getting worked up and deciding certainties over pure speculation

Jay Spearing, Dani Pacheco, Sebastian Coates and Stuart Downing are all expected to be leaving this summer. Tom Ince is most likely to be the first signing when the window opens.

Also Tiago Ilori is also expected to replace Jamie Carragher next season If a deal can be agreed between both clubs.

Christian Erikson is considered to be the main target this summer for Brendan Rodgers.

I expect there to be 1 or 2 more targets in mind, unless Reina or Suarez leave. Who they are is anyone's guess.

Cheers,
Mr D

Mr d, eriksen is and was never going to happen! Unfortunately Liverpool are a big step down at this moment in time! Ed, could you help with this one? Hearing uncomfimed reports that ince has agreed personal terms with spurs? Adam suters personal account released the statment!

Downing has turned it around this year. he was excellent V Newcastle and has hit form. I think he should be kept unless a top offer comes in for him which I think is doubtful

Eds,

-Do you think Suarez will not be in Liverpool shirt next season? Given Bayern and Atletico very interested to sign him.
I reckon if we sold him, Coates also will be sold.
We got around 40M+ funds extra fund.

-Any big name Strikers that Rodgers like? I mean in case Suarez leaves?

-Is it true LFC interested to sign ALex Pierce reading? IS he any good?

-JeremyLFC- {Ed002's Note - All of this has been covered at length.}

BR talks a good talk - he seems an honest man full of old-school values like loyalty, honour and integrity. If he goes to Man City, we can be certain that he is nothing but a sham. There will be reasons such as not receiving the backing he wanted or that his authority was being undermined from within but we will all know that he would be succumbing to the filthy lucre and fast-track glory.
I don't think he will leave because I believe he is a man of principles who believes in the project at our historic club, but I'm also hoping he's not a snake oil salesman.

Seriously, go to the archive, pick a date around a draw or loss (or even a win where we struggled a bit) and look at how he was talked about. Why would a man of values and integrity want to be associated with that? I seriously wouldn't blame him for leaving and think it would be a huge shame if he did, but we have sections of our fanbase who literally won't allow him to do good. If we lose or draw it's all his fault, even when tactics are perfect and an individual player mistake costs us. When we win we were lucky, or the opposition was really poor, or the team was good but his signings were still rubbish. you get the picture. It's pathetic and needs to stop

Rodger's speak with heap fork tongue kimosabe! ask Skrtel!

The Sheik won't touch BR rest easy

Although it would make me happy if he did take BR

Hi all, how about a swap deal suarez for hummels at dortmond, with bayern getting ledondowski and goetze they will need striker and we have definately got to get it right at back just a thought if not maybe robotnik as a cheaper option, sorry bout spelling but its hard these days with all these overseas players -SALLY-

Swapping a striker for a defender doesn't seem like the best logic to me sally.
Redgrant

As good a defender as Hummels is, he is worth far less than Luis in the transfer market.

A fairer deal would be reus and hummels + at least 10 million for suarez
