We should defo take interest in McCarthy, he's been awesome since he put on that show against Spurs.

Mick, James or Alex?

Won't happen unless we offload Allen as we already have Lucas, Gerrard, Shelvey & Henderson.

hi ed could you tell me with west ham saying they may not be able to afford carroll due to the fair play rules were does that leave Liverpool and how will the rules restrict Liverpool financially? {Ed002's Note - Just ignore it.}

That's a convenient excuse to lower the price!

Eds, surely west ham would have known fair play rules were coming in last year when they agreed to the original deal. ant {Ed002's Note - See my comment.}

out
coates
carragher
shelvey (would prefer him to stay)
pacheco
skrtel (brendan doesn't want him)
downing
borini (has done nothing)
assaidi
allen (just hasn't worked out)
carroll

inns
williams
erickson
alonso
marco rojas
ince
higuain
mccarthy
micah richards

Borini will stay and Higuian is to much money. Besides we don't need a striker

When do injured players do anything? He's obviously got talent we need to give him a chance. And sone of those ins are just embarrassing if you believe them

A football team will never let go of so many players at once and LFC will never make so many signings of these class of players ever. Champ man addict. Plus give Higuain a rest, living the dream there.

FowlerGod.

I can not see Allen, Downing or Borini leaving. Higuain & Eriksen will not join us as they can get regular first team football at a CL club and get higher wages. I now doubt Ince will sign as Spurs want him and Richards future will be decided by whoever takes the City job. If Wigan get relegated then McCarthy could be a realistic signing and Alonso re-signing would be obviously add quality passing to our midfield. Marco Rojas I don't know much about except what is said on here so he may sign or he may not and regarding Williams I can't see him leaving Swansea for us but we could buy a better CB, in my opinion.

You have just started your new job as a manager, working for a company which is well known all over the world. Your role is to take charge of a group, to ensure that you and your team fulfil the objectives given to you. You will need to implement your ideas and use your experience to cope under pressure in order for the company to improve.

After being in your new job for only a few months, the company has not improved in the way many hoped and your competitors are still quite a distance ahead of you in terms of success. You are constantly working under extreme pressure and you have people all around you saying 'you are useless', 'you don't know what your doing', and 'You should be sacked'.

Can you imagine what would that do for your confidence and your drive?

How much of a difference would it make if you went to work and the people around you are giving you encouragement? Fair enough they may be a little upset when you make a mistake or don't instantly bring success, but if they gave you that boost and encouragement needed to improve and progress.

How much confidence would that bring to you and your team?

My point is that working under the circumstances in which Rodgers does is extremely difficult and many would crumble under the pressure. A job like his requires encouragement and the full support of everybody involved.

I believe that it is the fans and supporters who are the catalyst to the majority of the pressure piled onto Rodgers and his team. It is the fans who constantly turn on the manager and the players when hopes and expectations are not met.

For one full season can we give the manager and the team our full support? Let us attend every game in full voice no matter who the opposition are. Let us do our part and transfer our confidence onto the team and give them the encouragement they need. If they fall at any hurdle let us pick them up together and show that we are fully behind them.

I'm not saying don't show your disappointment when we lose a game, because that is your passion, but let's just try it and see what happens! WE could be the difference next season!

Red Lee

20 Apr 2013 21:58:53
Fans will always support Liverpool no matter what! Rodgers needs to earn respect rather than fans like you begging respect for him, respect is not begged but earned and Rodgers needs to earned it, it doesn't come with money neither comes with talking it comes with what people see!

We lose, Rodgers is sh*t.
We win, Rodgers is a hero.

You are obviousy one of those fans aren't you?

Begging u say? No mate, just sick of reading absolute dribble on here from people like yourself!

I'm sure if we lose to Chelsea tomorrow you will be on here whining like a child as per usual.

Mop that dribble of your chin lad!

Red Lee

Well said led, we won't get anywhere with constant abuse being hurled at the club left, right and centre.

Anonymous woolback

I'm with red lee, look at when we play away, you always hear us. We need every supporter with us when we're losing, when we're not playing well. Just imagine the atmosphere that we create on those must win European nights at every home game. Show the passion our football club is and think of the morale that would rub off the players, show the world how proud we are to support the players, manager, staff and owners, how proud we are to support Liverpool FC

21 Apr 2013 00:36:20
Red lee mate for me winning or losing is not going to change my opinion mate, rodgers needs to win trophys like rafa or shank or paisley etc, make fans believe that Liverpool once again will rise, but his more talking then doing action. No europe next year is that what a Liverpool manager is expected, is that what you want I should support, I support Liverpool fc, not rodgers, when I go to games or see in tele I just support Liverpool and want every game to win but doesn't mean I have to support a manager who I think is not the right for my club, or is it a force to support blindly a nmanager who was booted by reading and watford?

Becoming the Liverpool manager is reason enough to earn respect

21 Apr 2013 01:19:26
Becoming the Liverpool manager is reason enough to earn respect
--------------------------------------------

Lad have you forgotten hodgson or souness and now micky mouse manager Rodgers who was booted and kicked out of Reading and watford!

Again people mentioning rafa. Oh my god, he was a complete waste of space. the fat Spanish waiter! He had his chance and blew it. We should never go back especially to the boring defensive football we played under rafa

Red lee please stop dribbling about a no clue Rodgers. Your post is like his180 page philosophy rubbish to the owners. If he stays it will be because he is a yes man. All the supporters want BR to continue have either buried your head in sand or are in denial. He is no messiah but pied piper leading us to the oblivion. Taxi for Rodgers

21 Apr 2013 07:51:36
Rodgers just talks too much but can't back it up with actions. For me, the long and short of the whole thing is that Rodgers is just a poor manager who is not even up to average standard and I will never take us anywhere. Never!

Took Shanks 5 years to get a trophy, Bob, Joe & Kenny already had squads with a winning mentality, and world class all over the pitch. Time to shut up, and get behind the Club we all love. We may well lose today, but, they are a regular top 4 side, with class all over the pitch.

It did not take shanks 5 years do you disregard winning the second division with by the way a fantastic team, and two seasons later first division champs, great days I can tell you. red mick tag

Interesting comparison to being CEO of a major business.

Well, firstly, real deal senior managers do not use 1990's Estate Agency sales manager gimmicks such as the 'envelope with three names' on a TV show. Secondly, the don't talk about players and talent in public. They coach and mentor privately. Thirdly - they don't over promise and under deliver. Fourth - they look more for evolution over revolution. Fifth, they respect the past of the great brand they have inherited and do not attempt to portray themselves as someone who has to come in to save and rebuild. He did not inherit a team in turmoil or crisis or failure. He took over a team in good heart, having got to two Cup Finals - that ran out of steam at the end of a hard fought season, often faced without Gerrard, Suarez and Lucas.

On most counts - I don't think Mr Rogers would pass.

He is a decent coach, tactician - possibly an able Number Two who inherited a good team at Swansea. And failed when given the chance to implement his dossier at Reading. I am sure Steve Clarke could easily have done the job too - just without the ego.

Drew

Thanks for the update Macca, I'm glad there is a positive mindset around Suarez staying in Melwood. It's also good news that Rodgers is going to get some time, hopefully next season we can implement our style, tactics and philosophy properly and have a great season.

20 Apr 2013 20:30:43
Liverpool being the most likely source for the kiwi scarlet marco rojas

Loose and very lazy link based on LFC heading to Australia for a friendly. You obviously don't watch the A-League if you think Rojas is good enough for Liverpool. Decent striker at his level but not PL standard.

20 Apr 2013 20:00:43
Hey Eds,

A week ago or so Tom Ince came out saying he does't have any interest going back to Liverpool. Is that just to up his price in this coming window or is their truth in it?

Thanks for your time. {Ed002's Note - No idea, sorry.}

20 Apr 2013 19:24:40
If Carroll goes to Spurs, he will be in a team that finishes above Liverpool next season - that don't seem
right?

20 Apr 2013 22:12:08
Andy caroll won't move to spurs.
coz. they won't pay the money we want.

20 Apr 2013 19:24:20
any chance of Liverpool signing marco rojas? {Ed002's Note - Search function please.}

20 Apr 2013 19:02:05
hi, there are any teams that intersted in buying lucas leiva from us?

He has just signed a contract exstension.

20 Apr 2013 18:51:07
I'd target 4 players:
Alderwield
Eriksen
Alonso
Gaitan

Obviously there would have to be a number of outs to fund these players wages and fees.

Promotions to replace outgoing players:
Texxeria
McLaughlin
Sama
Coady
Ibe
Ngoo

loan a couple out if they aren't going to be close to the team.

1. Alderwield - Agree
2. Eriksen - Agree
3. Alonso -? we don't need a ball player just a beast in DM to cover/rival lucas for his spot. I'd say bring Mohamed Sissoko back, he is out of favour at PSG, would be cheap (around £4-5m)and is still only 28years young perfect age as we need experience coverage as well as him not being so young that it will cause Baio to miss opportunities in the first team.
4. Gaitan - Agree
5. we also need a left back to challenge Enrique, Dennis Aogo

outs
Skrtel - replaced by Toby
Coates - replaced internally by Sama
Spearing - replaced by Mo Sissoko
Shelvey - replaced by Eriksen
Assaidi - replaced by Nico Gaitan
Carroll - replaced internally by Ngoo
Pacheco - no replacement needed

Promotions to replace outgoing players:

Texxeria -? Texxeria I'm not sure about but Teixeira yes he should at least move to train permanently with the first team.

McLaughlin - agree (same reason as above)

Sama - agree (same reason as above)

Coady -? I think Baio is a better prospect, and if Coady stays then he should be loaned out.

Ibe - another year of U21 won't hurt for a 17 year old

Ngoo - agree, but should be loaned out from the start of the season

Whoever posted the first reply, I think is good. And that probably will be our budget to as the outs match the ins I would guess.

is it possible the sale of carroll to west ham may include diame in the deal

Nope because with Diame gone it would seriously cripple their team.

20 Apr 2013 18:06:57
Ed with City, Real and Chelsea, all likely to change managers this summer I was wondering if you have heared who's favourite to go there?
Klopp to city and Rafa and Jose swap places? {Ed002's Note - I am sorry but this is not really something for the Liverpool page.}

20 Apr 2013 17:14:13
So glad arsenal didn't draw, we would be hearing we can still get 4th all over again

20 Apr 2013 16:26:46
Do you think anyone would be calling rafa or past players if we were successful? The answer is simply no, fans are desperate for success, any manager came after rafa has failed to achieve the same standards which makes fans think of rafa or past players, Rodgers has got long way to go but has to earn the respect rather then fans begging respect for him.

Raga Benitez won the champions league with mostly houlliers squad, then won the FA cup, got to another champions league final which we lost, then after we finished 2nd what happened to us? Yes our downfall was started by the one and only rafa Benitez! He spent stupid money on rubbish players and gave them insanely high wages! Thank god he's gone

James

I would like to say that rafa was the right man just at the wrong time the hawking of the club around the world by moores and parry to find a buyer then to sell to the Americans after agreeing a deal with the arabs didn't help us one bit that's when it all started to fall apart

20 Apr 2013 17:33:39
Then why houlier couldn't win champions league in his 6 years? Rafa won champions league, Fa cup, super cup, charity shield, and consistantly champions leaugue semi finals and finals only 1 season had blip, why no manager could achieve what rafa achieved or repeat the success?

Houllier always said that one day we would win the champions league and we did. Season after he left with only two players in the team that rafa Benitez bought. Alonso and Garcia. All rest were houlliers squad! Can we stop all this bring Benitez back crap because he's not the right man for the job, he had his chance and blew it, spent stupid amounts of money, played the most boring football ever and paid stupid high wages to players who weren't good enough!

James

If rafa was that good, why didn't he win the league? Yes he won the champions league and FA cup but did he the 2007 champions league final? NO! Nobody remembers the losers, only the winners! Don't give me the super cup and charity shield because they are just friendly games really! Did he win the world club championship? NO! We played boring football under his management! I for one hope he never comes back the fat Spanish waiter! Adios amigo

Ack17

20 Apr 2013 19:20:57
He spent stupid money on rubbish players and gave them insanely high wages! Thank god he's gone

you are simply clueless.
is this the reason we are in 8th position come past 3 seasons?
get a grip mate. you don't have any clue on football

whats our 35 mill loan doing at west ham with 80k wages?

20 Apr 2013 20:52:44
I'm actually thinking BR has started allright for his first season, so this is not a Rafa in post or anything. But I posted this morning asking if anyone had a list of transfers in and out by by Rafa and the values, out of just interest really.
Anyway I googled and got this. http://lfcstats.co.uk/rafatransfers.html
The interesting thing here is that it looks about right and shows he spent about £230m, but the net spend was about £83m.
But because it's not recent ( he left ) a quick look and in the sold/out I can't see Riera, Ngog, Masherano or Torres? And then there are the others that have left in the time since he left.
Add to that the current value of players he brought in like Johnson, Agger, Skertle, Reina, Lucas and the youngsters he signed for the acadamy and unless I'm wrong the books would show a profit ( and a decent one )
Now I know people will point out Agents fees and high wages, but as the article states the CL win and the other successful years there generated loads.
It also shows how his first few seasons he spent large but in his last few tappered off significantly, to almost nothing ( probably down to the trouble with the owners ) resulting in that bad last season?
The press love to point out the £230m spend, and I have no idea about the accuracy, but hey it makes interesting reading.
Now for a man who likes to control all aspects of a club, he seems allright under Roman.
To weak with the senior players at Liverpool, well seems ok with Terry and Lampard.
2 defensive mids at Liverpool and to negative, well Stevies not so cavalier now and not getting as many goals?
And how many ask on here are we getting a new DM this summer?
Like I said at the start BR seems to have got off to a solid start and is rebuilding a squad in his style. I'm all for a bit of stability and long term building. But let's not be a Rafa or BR lover or hater, and start to be a bit more sensible about things.
Then

20 Apr 2013 21:47:42
Mate benitez brought lots of money to the club, for god sake he chose the players he didn't offer them wages neither inflated contract those were boards responsibility.

Even bringing lots of money to the club by taking Liverpool consistantly to semi finals and finals still had to buy 3rd rate players because his first choice players were never allowed by parry.

Silva
Mata
Villa
Jovetic
Aguero etc I can go on and on if clown parry would allow his signings rather then forcing him to buy players like elzhar, babel etc we would be dominating europe and domestic till now, at that time thise players were cheap and no one new them, but always put down by parry because they were not strong or ready for epl.

20 Apr 2013 22:06:43
If football was that boring then how come we scored more then 90 goals and achieved more then 85 points which is record in our history, even past superior Liverpool teams with kenny or ian rush or owen or fowler or keegan or toshack as strikeforce or Rodgers tikii taka couldn't come close to that record, if that is boring then I will be more then happy playing like that and scoring more then 90 goals and more then 85 points!

20 Apr 2013 22:17:20
Ack 17. You are a pure person lad and there's no way your an l. f. c red more a manc red, a proper l. f. c. Red would never abuse an ex manager of ours especially one who achieved so much for us and backed the hillsborough fight for justice both financially and verbally. If you are a red then hang your head in shame.

Waro

20 Apr 2013 22:19:12
4-1 UTD.
5-0 Real
4-4 Arsenal
4-4 Chelsea
2-0 Chelsea
3-1 Spurs
5-0 New castle.

My God how is this a boring football?
Do I need to go and look back.
and that boring football took our goal tally to 100 highest in an year with 43 away points and a total of 86 points.

Under his management. we ripped top and bottom of almost all clubs around Europe.

Some guys here just can't accept him. and for that. they have some of the most stupid blunders ever.

we played 4-2-3-1 formation.

Rafa benitez created a wall of china. in the midfield.
gerrard, alonso and mascherano.

not even the spartans could cross it.

20 Apr 2013 22:40:31
how is rafa to be blamed he did a very good job at Liverpool and then had his fair share of doodgy transfers and high wages or the fergie issue, but again that the guy who "made us believe", came very close to a title, won a champions leuague as well as took us to a final and few semis. Name me a manager who has done it for LFC in the last 15 years? he was very good and has to take blame for a lot of s***, but can't be blamed for evrything. we got 50mil for his player we got 35 for alonso and 20 for mash agin his players. name one player Hollier bought who can go close to that price, Name one player Kenny bought who can go half the price torres was sold. He got the best out of gerrard, carra, finnan, risse. can hollier win the chamions league with HIS players? No. stop blaming the guy for everything
before benitez era we would have never past the group stages of chamions league and then we suddenly won the cup.
I don't want him back now BR is going to come good but that doesn't means that we should disrespect our former managers.
may be half of you guys deserve to support the team whos manager is hodgson then the teams will be of class players like konchesky and fighting for relegation.
rafa fought for LFC he loves LFC his family loves us, he cried in one of the hilsbrough service, respect him atleast for being a part of our great club and a man who fought for us and lost his job.
he might not be the best manager but is a great Liverpool follower and a man responsible for a lot of great memories
Red 316

20 Apr 2013 23:25:21
Do I want rafa nope but its very hard to argue with rafa lovers, rafa`s records speak louder then fans whose opinion are different, so no need to argue because its impossible to argue when his records are there for everyone to see including haters and lovers, rafa achieved a lot of things with Liverpool at a time where Liverpool were going no where and has earned special respect, love in so many Liverpool fans heart who never saw the success which rafa showed them and made fans believe that Liverpool could dominate world football once again which many fans had lost the hope and passion, he brought passion, love, success and had a special bonding with fans that no modern Liverpool manager will ever have, fans were singing his name week and week out, holding his flags, marching with him and in return he was bringing those europe magical nights and tearing europes best teams apart, that will never happen again.

I have never seen fans waiting for manager to arrive with team bus so they can march with him at the same time holding his flags and singing his name to show their support, love towards him and that is the same reason why rafa has done so much for the club eg: fighting for justice or still living in Liverpool or donating money for 96 angels etc

21 Apr 2013 00:13:44
Rafa brought success at Liverpool at a time when the club had suffered for more then 15 years and lack of big european nights for more then 30-35 years as Liverpool were baned from europe, and houlier team could never passed group stages and always were thumped 6-7 goals by teams like Bayer- Leverkusen etc and houliers team just qualified 3 times for champions league in his 6 years at Liverpool, so fans were always disappointed and very desperate for sucess as Liverpool city is very passionate about football, rafa came and instantly brought success all of a sudden a club and its fans who suffered so much and had no hope at all, started believing and rafa became hero, success started coming big european nights became like normal to fans who were dreaming for those nights that's how he and Liverpool were in a roller coaster ride, every season by season Liverpool were getting stronger and stronger, going strength to strength with big europeans clubs and trashing them, not beating but trashing them home or away, anfield started bouncing week in week out and rafa was getting unreal support no manager will have that support in fact it was more then support, the city who were so passionate about Liverpool had suffered a lot and rafa heal those hearts, and brought new light to the city who were used to darkness, since rafa left no manager has ever recieved that kind of famous support or will never receive, anfield stopped bouncing and fans have lost hopes once again and Liverpool are back again where they were before rafa.

21 Apr 2013 11:34:34
Rafa bought everything. that this club was dreaming at that stage.
fame. money. glory. nights. trophies. respect. fear.
everything arguably.
and anfield became the home of Football.

Those who criticizes rafa. doesn't have a clue on football.

I am an LFC fan thank you very much, just because I don't want rafa back doesn't make me a bad Liverpool fan, he had his chance and blew it in the end, the football was awful in his last season in charge and we finished 8th! Ill call who I want, when I want! I got sick of his excuses all the time! It was obvious to anybody that the time was right for him to go!

Ack17

Those who support Rafa, don't have a clue about football.
Rafa was and is nothing more than an average chequebook manager

20 Apr 2013 16:22:22
it's stupid that a 23 year old can win young player of the year.

should be 21 and under

20 Apr 2013 15:19:22
Eds I Was just having a rubbish in B&Q then I overheard 2 spanish people talking about tello coming to Liverpool and its a done deal any news mate?

They didn't have the lotto numbers by any chance?

Having a rubbish in BQ what's that

I hope you can understand Spanish then, otherwise this is a load of rubbish.

Red Raw

What marked them out as Spanish? Are you sue it was Tello and not tiling?

20 Apr 2013 15:02:48
Not at all surprised that FSG have insisted upon a transfer committee to make final decisions, instead of the manager. This is the developing trend in the Premiership, especially the clubs with foreign owners. Interesting how Brendan Rodgers will react to this. Still suspect Suarez will be sold. That will be another intriguing dimension

20 Apr 2013 14:46:44
Liverpool and West Ham were on alert last night after Barcelona midfielder Jonathan Dos Santos hinted that he wants to leave the Nou Camp.

Dos Santos is open to a move to the Premier League and so a summer switch looks likely.

Liverpool were keen on the 22 year old last summer but couldn't iron out a deal with the La Liga leaders however this time around things should be much simpler.

-----------------------

Eds any truth in the matter?

Sorry if it's already been asked. {Ed002's Note - You think that a player telling the Spanish press that he would like to get more first team opportunities resulted in Rodgers or Allardyce getting out of bed to start working on a deal?}

20 Apr 2013 14:41:37
Been hearing rumours of Brendon Rodgers leaving and rafa returning as manager so hope this happens Rodgers is useless

I'd love to know why you think Rogers is useless. Give the man a chance, just because Rafa got us the European Cup in his first season, don't forget we were very lucky to get past olympiakos. We were more indebted to Stevie G. We played some of the most boring games during Rafa's reign, constantly at anfield you heard chant's of Attack Attack Attack why because he focused on defending. Il forever grateful to witness that European night, but it is time to move on and support Rodgers he is doing a great job, please give him time. Si

I don't know why a lot of people want Rafa back! It would be a huge mistake! He had his chance and blew it big time! Time to stop living in the past and look to the future. The Brenden Rodgers era at Liverpool fc

You must be hearing it from Rafa's PR machine then.

We know he wants to come back but there is no job for him here.

20 Apr 2013 20:34:40
I think Rafa was a genius to come to us with a weakened squad, the worst of GH's mistakes, and get us to a CL final on merit, then win it with a bit of luck too. 2 years later he'd genuinley created a side that was worthy of winning that trophy and the luck turned. Still a couple of seasons later we had the best squad in in the league and we should have ended the drought - still don't know how Utd got through that season with just a solid starting XI. But facts are facts - after that it fell apart, he sowed the seeds of his own demise the season before trying to replace Xabi with Barry, the cash dried up and all the work on youth and reserve bore little fruit. I'll always respect him, and especially the touches outside football he also brought to England. But football does change and it changed fast, I don't see 4-2-3-1 as a valid formation anymore, nor the reliance on high wage, low fee foreign imports as a strategy for continued success. I just don't see how Rafa takes the Liverpool of today forwards, let's not tarnish our appreciation of him by bringing him back to fail.

I don't buy into BR's philosophy just to blindly support the club and our manager, I think this type of approach might be our only way back to relevance - City, Chelsea and Utd can blow us out of the water financially - Spurs and Arsenal are easily level. We need a new approach and BR's willingness to use talented youth is an option - plus it can draw gifted youngsters to us while the expensive proven players seek out CL qualification and 6 figure weekly pay-packets.

Even with a dip in fortunes next season I'd be glad to stick by BR to see if it works - if nothing else the next manager would actually come in on a reasonable financial footing - don't think that would be the case if Rafa got hold of the cheque-book.

20 Apr 2013 14:33:27
A few of the recent posts are criticising our youth team, saying that they are not good enough because we did not win the FA Youth Cup. I personally feel that the results in youth football are not especially important. It should be about players developing their skills and technique. Constantly placing results as the main priority is the exact reason why English players are so behind other countries in the world, namely Spain, Germany, Belgium and Columbia. When this attitude changes maybe then will England start regularly producing skillful and technical players, rather than just athletes (and average ones at that).

El Pi**edolero

Think anyone criticising is a little stupid!
Last night we had Ibe and Mclaughlin (arguably the two best players this season) out injured.
We could have played Suso, Sterling, and Wisdom all who have played first team football this season.
Also we have Robinson and Ngoo out on loan.
Seems to me with that level of quality our youth system is working perfectly well and the stated aims of the acadamy ie to produce players for the first team is well on course!

Derek

Lfc hype the players up too much they have lots of poor quality young players.

20 Apr 2013 20:42:51
Mate its not about winning or losing its about the quality of our youth compare to other clubs youths, as a lot of fans have hype our youngsters and think they are going to bail us from the situation which we are facing, but its clear that not only our first team is behind, even our youth is behind other clubs quality wise! Anyways its good to see Chelsea, city even spurs investing lots of money in their youths!

Watched the youth team against Chelsea. It seems we have the same problem throughout the club, that is not getting enough bodies in the box when attacking. When Chelsea attacked there were plenty of players in the box. When we broke forward no one to aim at.
If this is the way we are coaching the youth team and the first team we are heading nowhere

Hey Eds,
Are we looking for a DM along with a CB this summer?
Cheers!
Benito {Ed002's Note - I am not aware that any are of interest right now.}

Hey ed001 just wanted to get your opinion on something. In your opinion do you feel Liverpool utilise the loan system well enough? It seems as though whenever we do send out a player on loan it is always those who we don't see in our first team plans, I. e. Pacheco, Ngoo, Wilson, Spearing etc. Clubs like Manchester United (Cleverly), Chelsea (Lukaku), Tottenham (Rose) have all had success with the system and yet we have players like Coates and Suso sitting on the bench without the taste of first team action for god knows how long.

Not only does it give first team action for players who could potentially be first team quality, it gives those we see as not good enough some recognition and increases their value. Take Ngoo for example I'm pretty sure he would have been let go of nothing, however due to his impressive loan spell, we're certain to get some sort of fee for him.

Would love to hear your thoughts eds,
AsianRed {Ed002's Note - Ed001 has run away to the circus and will not be available for a while so you are stuck with me. Clubs use the loan system send get players experience and in some cases to figure out if they are likely to grow in to first team squad material or not. That was certainly the case with Kelly and Shelvey and has been the case with Morgan this season. Historically there were numerous fringe players going out on loan because, before squad size limitations were invoked, Benitez inflated the squad to a vast unmanageable amount.}

20 Apr 2013 10:11:58
hi eds do you know what is happening with jack robinson's future at Liverpool? I honestly thought under rodgers he would be given a chance and to be honest I think he will look to move on if he is not given a chance soon {Ed002's Note - I would think that this summer might see him seen as a possible loanee - but it will mean that there is sufficient cover for left back. Reports I hear are that he has played well when called on.}

I live in the midlands and know quite a few Wolves fans. They love him.

19 Apr 2013 15:11:16
hi eds, do you know what under 21s players will get a chance next season, baio looks a very ggod prospect as do a good few of our youngsters do, because I think if the player is good enough then he is old enough, and have you heard any good reports of the kid we got from sporting, I think his name is texaria, sorry about the spelling, or do you think they should go out on loan and get the 1st team games that will bring them on, look at tom ince, if we loan a few out some might make it like him

mickey b

thanx for any answers {Ed002's Note - Their time will come Mickey but at best for the next two years or so the most you will see at first team level with a cameo. Some will gain experience through loans of course, but it is too early to say which players will go down that route next season.}

I think Ibe is the only candidate right now.

20 Apr 2013 13:43:52
Rodgers will be manager next season, there is no chance he will be sacked at the end of the season.

All the players are pretty sure Suarez will stay for at least another season.

No idea on players coming in though.

Cheers

Macca

Cheers mate!

Cheers for the info Macca, much appreciated.
Just hoping the players have got right about Suarez.
If BR can get a handful of really good quality players in during the summer, and can continue to improve the results, I think LFC could push into the top 4 next season, and start to build a title challenge over the following few seasons.

20 Apr 2013 20:55:02
Thanks Macca! Glad to have you back

Hey eds, a question on Carroll's loan deal, I thought the terms of his contract were if West Ham stayed up in the Premier League, then they would have to buy him for 17 or 18 million? How can West Ham say that they can't afford him now? {Ed002's Note - I really have no idea what the terms of the loan deal are.}

20 Apr 2013 13:28:17
If West Ham can't afford the £17M for Carroll why don't we tell them £13M and Diame for Carroll.

Because Diame isn't good enough

Mate how can you say diame isn't good enough he absolutely crushed our midfield has been scoring goals, is affordable and could provide competition for Lucas, I think he's the closest thing I've seen to yaya toure in the premier league.

Lil Red

He looks good against us because anyone with a bit of power looks good against us. Seriously, watch him play more regularly and it should become painfully obvious he isn't good enough for us. That's not to say he's a bad player, but there should be a big difference between a player good enough for a mid table club (Diame), and a player good enough for Liverpool (not Diame).

Diame is better than Lucas. Although I like Lucas he doesn't contribute in anything going forward and never chips in with the odd goal like Diame does. We need a solution with Carroll because he's never going to get a game under Rodgers.

'Diame isn't good enough' you are obviously one of these armchair supporters that doesn't watch any games, judges playyers based on fifa overalls and only wants players who are already moulded into world superstars.

That is not the way shankly or any top class manager makes great sides, they have good scouting and use players based on raw ability and potential, not what's on their CV.

But you wouldn't know that, would you?

Anonymous woolback

I don't play FIFA or any similar game, my opinion is based on actually watching him play. If Diame's the calibre you want, then enjoy our extended stay in mid table obscurity. For the record, I know an awful lot about Shankly, though I don't see how that's really relevant

You can say that until the big boys sweep him up and turn him into a world class player, then you will complain that rodgers is an awful manager for not spotting his talent. All world class players start somewhere.

Anonymous woolback

Diame is quite clearly better than lucas hendo and allen

I guarantee you 100% Diame does not have what it takes to be world class. Even if he did become so, I would not criticise the manager for overlooking him. You seem to be making a lot of assumptions about me based on one little opinion, woolback.

Sorry my unamed friend, I am being awfully agressive because I am so fed up of the same balls people keep saying. You may not be any of the things I said you were, but anyone who as an opinion that falls into the stereotypical category of the 'annoying Liverpool fan' grants me a self proclaimed right to head hunt you.

Apologies

Is BR the man to get us back in Top 4?

Might get us into forth but not winning the league or champs league

20 Apr 2013 11:43:21
Some of the fans jumping on the "bring rafa back" bandwagon is literally driving me nuts. I respect rafa and I know all Liverpool supporters do. He will always have a special place in our heart for what he achieved during his time with us. But I do not want him back at Liverpool. I think its time for us to move forward and move forward with BR. But I would like to ask my fellow supporters why they want him back so badly. Is it guaranteed that we will achieve top 4 with rafa in charge? What makes you think he will achieve top 4 if he could not do it while spurs and Manchester city were much weaker than they are now and the chance for a top 4 finish was more likely? and what should we do if he fails to achieve top 4 in his first season in charge? should we sack him because Kenny was sacked after his first season in charge despite wining a domestic trophy and reaching in the final of another.

Yeah agree. Rafa is an absolute legend but there is now a circus that follows him everywhere. Not what we need.

I have no respect for rafa. yes he won champions league but with a team built by some one else, he also alienated a lot of our best players i. e alonso as he wanted to replace them with donkeys like barry and need I remind people he also cost us the league by having a pop at fergie instead of getting on with the job and focusing on the league. all we have to thank him for is setting up our academy to be one of the best in the country. BR is a much better manager in my opinion. ok it has not been a great season but we all knew he would have to start making amends for previous regimes so let's start supporting the man who could make us great again

Whatever your feelings about him as a manager, he is still due a bucket load of respect. He has done a lot for the club - rarely do you find managers that 'become' their club, and he did that at Liverpool. Personally, I wouldn't want him back as manager (I havn't forgotten my frustration at his selections, tactics and substitutions!), but he is a good man. And don't forget about his involvement with Hillsborough. In my opinion he deserves a lot of respect, and anyone slagging him off is taking a cheap shot.

20 Apr 2013 14:55:04
I have got a lot of respect for rafa, he is the most successful modern manager in Liverpool history, would I take him of coarse, he took Liverpool to places where all manager have failed in modern footy, in gerrard houlier we weren't consistant top4, but in Benitez era we were consistant top4 side and playing champions league finals, semi finals etc, he hasn't won just Champions league at Liverpool but won Fa cup, super cup charity shield, his Cv speaks for himself, out of his 6 years era at Liverpool, Liverpool played in highest level for 5 years that any team would only dream and had a blip of 1 season. You don't achieve that kind of Cv if your not good, he loves Liverpool, has got ability and passion and hunger to manage Liverpool again, has got everything that what you need in a manager to manage Liverpool so why not, especially when we are not going anywhere and stuck in midtable mediocrity, so why not give him a shot, we have nothing to lose its better to take a chance then continue finishing 7-8th midtable mediocrity!

Have people seriously forgotton the alonso situation? alonso was one of our best and most consistant players who loved Liverpool yet benitez pretty much forced him out of the club. I'm not saying he was a bad manager he stood up to the jokers who were running the club into the ground but he was never good enough to take us to the next level. and also what has he achieved since leaving Liverpool? never go backwards did no one learn this with dalglish who was an excellent manager 1st time round but not so great the 2nd time. we need to get behind BR and let him have next season and then if we still do not progress try some one new which in my opinion would be laudraup if we couldn't attract a top name

No, in fairness I agree with everything that the man who said it was somebowdy elses team said, but he is still due are blessing and best wishes.

No matter how good or bad they are as a manager, they still desrver our respect and blessing, we take care of our own.

Great man, crap manager, but I will never hate him.

Hi Eds.
Can you tell by maybe the ip address, if one poster has more than one username? {Ed002's Note - I guess.}

20 Apr 2013 11:09:03
We are club that needs a massive injection capital to buy players.

By seeking our major assets

Suarez we can recoup at least 45 million.
D. Agger will fetch 15m
Skirtel 10m
Stevie good 12m (he's getting on now)
Pepe 15m

It's time to get rid of prized assets and look to the future.
Accept we won't be a force for at least five years and start building the the team with youth and some quality players.

It's a hard choice, but it's the only way forward now.

M

Are you crazy? how are we meant to build for the future if we sell all of our prized assets! if we sell of these players mentioned who are we mean't to replace them with and who would want to join a team showing no ambition. I think you need a reality check we would not be building for the future but damning our great club to relegation. some people really are morons

Sell Gerrard? Not a chance. That's just crazy. I can see reasoning behind the others but not him. Saying that why would you want to rip the spine out the team. Seems a bit odd mate

The dumbest post I've seen here in a while, yep just sell our best players that's the way forward. Honestly.

I think he means he will be so awful it will be to our benefit.

20 Apr 2013 08:36:32
I personally want to keep Carroll but if he is to be sold, we shouldn't take less than 20 mil. At the end of the day he's English, and a beast. Not sure what the crack is with the home-grown situation but surely that would be advantageous. Also if he is to be sold I think an player exchange should be included. Diame or ben arfa would be good for us, I'd prefer Diame.

Were guna take a massive loss on him anyway and if we were to swap for diame, people would laugh and ridicule us. but the fact is diame will be valued at 15mil plus anyway. let west ham give us 7 mil and diame, that would do me
5gold stars

20 Apr 2013 09:45:09
you mentioned 20 mill?
he hasn't even scored 20 goals all last two seasons.
English and beast so?
If he is worth a 20 mill striker. then why should we sell him?

As soon as its a decent English prospect clubs tend to pay over the odds and also it's quite hard to score 20+ goals at west ham and when you're injured Harry. Has Tevez or Rooney scored 20?

I know the lad won't play for us again Harry, but to be Honest he started to look good at the end of last season and has been very impressive when I've seen him this season for west ham. If he had stayed fit I think he would easily have got double figures and 20m would have been likely. How much did Bent go for? If we could afford it the answer would be to leave him on loan or loan him to Newcastle because I think his value will rise.

No, YOU lot pay over the top. Haha, don't expect more than 12mil for Andy Carrol

Carroll will be a good player when he's in a system tht fits him, he's been good for west ham so far because they work their team around him as did Newcastle. Liverpool have their team around Suarez, which is why he's been so good this season. Just because a player doesn't do well at one club doesn't mean he won't do well at another. A perfect example is Ibrohimovic and Barcelona, they have their squad built around Messi which is why he scores 50+ goals a season. Put him in a stoke team and lob balls into the box hoping someone gets their head on it and he wouldn't score as many.

I prefer our style of play, it's nice to watch and it's the way we should continue to play. So Andy Carroll will not fit in, so sell him and bring a player that fits.

Red Raw

20 Apr 2013 13:46:42
cant believe people comparing tevez and rooney.
u remember the FA cup.
the bicycle kick by Rooney itself will value 20 mill.
he is an absolute quality player.
has scored 20 + goals in previous season.
has been playing an attacking midfielder. has no of assist in his name.

So IF a big IF Carroll's goal stood in that FA cup final then what? He hasn't been given the opportunity at us that's a fact. Also Rooney shinned it! And Tevez just sulks and misses his family yet he's worth how much? Harry people are intitled to their opinions, it's not just your team, let others speak

If Carroll comes back and makes himself relevant in a squad with 4 recognised forwards I'll be happy.

If the club recoup a significant % of his fee and his wage goes off the books I'll be happy.

If the powers that be discern that neither of the above can happen and we remove his wage for another season via loan I can live with that.

Another club coming in and taking a V. Good premier striker (english) for 10M or under because we're Liverpool and we sell low - I can't deal with that. I'd rather he sat in the reserves until a lowering of his wage demands made a move possible.

20 Apr 2013 08:13:48
Kenny daglish on Rafa Benitez.

". In fact, Rafa's respect and appreciation for Liverpool and all the people at the club is there for everyone to see. His legacy at the club is secure already. He won the Champions League in Istanbul and he got the club to another final in the competition as well.

And the other thing he deserves great credit for is the changes he made to the club's youth academy. Four years ago he brought in Pep Segura and Rodolfo Borrell to coach the kids - and Frank McParland to direct the academy.

There is a greater strength in depth at the academy now than there has ever been before and that is down to some of the changes Rafa implemented.

Respect.

Spot on lad

Hi Eds and ferllow Reds,

Heard a rumour a couple months back that Enzo Zidane was coming to Liverpool for a 2 week trial in April, as Zizu has a massive man crush on Stevie G and and was trying to get a job here coaching or scouting for a temp basis. do you guys know anything about this.
I think he is a technical director at madrid so it seems like crap. YNWA

If its seem like crap to you, why bother sharing it?

20 Apr 2013 20:31:26
I think you missed the main part of the post which was. do you guys know anything about it? it is a genuine enough question

Wasn't Enzo suppose to have a two month trial in Feb - March? but that must have been paper talk as nothing happened.

I think vorm will be a lovely replacment if reina leaves, if we buy qilliams were going to be on here complaning about him like we have about borini and allen (but I do wish them the best and certain theyl prove themselves in time)alderweirld and another center back one that can play left back aswell and our defence would be sorted, eriksen for the number 10 and a defensive midfielder (sorry lads but I don't think alonso is tge man for that job even doe i'm a massive fan of him)a right winger is badly needed mayve ben afra, another striker cause I don't think sturridge is the right man or big andy carrol, I think bemteke would do well with us, ths is just my opinion but I think these few improvments would rip rubbish up and def top 4 :)

corkman

Hardly a "few improvements" you're talking about 6 new players (5 of which would be for the first team). Reina will stay and I would take just about anyone over Williams. I think Sturridge is a great second striker (weapon off the bench). Bring in 1 real quality CB, Starting caliber DM to replace Lucas, Eriksen for AM and a starting winger. 4 new additions to the first team with the youth and squad depth to push for top 4 next season and beyond.

20 Apr 2013 00:44:29
Massive respect for our owners! Would you invest in a sinking ship? Thank you fsg you saved my club and its people, we owe you one.

20 Apr 2013 09:31:04
Is that you ed002. You tinker.

Waro {Ed002's Note - It wasn't Waro. Could you imagine me using such terms as "my club and its people" for anyone?}

Liverpool is a real football club, one of the most famous in the world, it will always be a brand that will sell. Anyone with a bit of buisness sense could make a success of LFC on and off the field. FSG are lucky to own us.
I think I would prefer to have owners that were 100% comitted to Liverpool. FSG's attention is divided between Redsox and Liverpool. This is a different situation from United, City and Chelsea.

{Ed002's Note - The owners of pretty much all clubs have significant other interests. AC Milan has an owner that has been Prime Minister of Italy on several occasions. Chelsea has an owner with significant business interests that take up his time. The largest share holder in Arsenal is also the majority owner of the St. Louis Rams. The Manchester United owners also own the Tampa Bay Buccaneers - your argument is pretty feeble.}

Well said Ed002

20 Apr 2013 00:41:28
Suarez must stay ed02 he has been our focal point through transition and will be a class player in our future but eds do you think our current youth setup is as good as the worlds best? Do you think the fruits of our acadaemy are already emerging? I can see suarez becoming vice captain and becoming a mentor to our attacking youngsters, what do you eds think/feel? Would love to have another perspective on things. {Ed002's Note - There is every chance Suarez would stay. The Liverpool academy is very well respected.}

20 Apr 2013 00:25:33
Man i'm sick of this "bring kenny/rafa back" rubbish would Arsenal have grahem back? Would chelsea have vialli back? Would Liverpool have houllier back? No! different managers have different eras and every single manager has a different outcome when becoming a new manager or returning manager. I understand the frustration of wanting to be what we were but bieng realistic is also part of football aswell. We have finished around 7th the last few years but a new vision and new direction was badly needed to match our new modern owners to become a new succesfull era and a new generation, history is irreplaceable but the future is much more important and making more history is much more respondant than trying to convince ourselves to dip into the past ti bring us the future.

Get behing BR and if it doesn't work its our duty to back the next manager be a fan and take the ruff with the smooth!

No but Chelsea would have Mourinho and Ancellotti back possibly even Di matteo. Arenal would take anyone one who would at least mean they win one trophy every decade.

So your argument is completely flawed from the get go. Rafa is a big part of my heart and every other Liverpool supporter because of what he and his teams achieved. Maybe bringing him back would be bad but maybe NOT bringign him back would be worse.

Pull your head out for some of this sunshine lad its lovely out here.

Kopping a feel

20 Apr 2013 09:48:57
I would personally give 10 years to BR.
let him take us to a CL final one more time.

Rafa's legacy is different mate.
One of the best Liverpool managers
He has been a true Liverpool through and through.
sitting at Chelsea, still supports Liverpool FC no matter he ends up here or not.
He is arguably the best outside manager to support Liverpool ever.

20 Apr 2013 09:55:06
Yea, Chelsea would definitely want Mou, RDM, Ancelloti, even AVB back!

Graham was a very goor manager, and if it wasnt for the dodgy dealings could have been there for years.
I was on the Kop the night they beat us by 2 to win the title ( horrible ), he had put together a great young side and you could argue the gunners have not come close to a title since the last of his team left.
If Kenny and Graham had stayed at their clubs from that night where would Fergie's career have gone?
I should imagine a lot of older gunners have a soft spot for him, as we do for our old managers.
But whilst we can respect our old managers and show appreciation BR is our man now and untill the board decide otherwise he should be backed 100%

19 Apr 2013 23:15:15
All these Eriksen talk is a bit fishy to me. Something tells me that Suarez wanted to see some ambition, and this is the clubs answer.
