eds any chance that people will stop wittering on about Torres coming back?
please can you move on, he is shot and we should look to the future and not the past

20 Jan 2013 23:21:54
Personally, I'm not too bothered about not getting Ince or Sneijder....in fact, as a season-ticket holder I'm glad. I can't stand us being mugs in the transfer-market and these two would be bigger gambles than Hendo or Sturridge who are both on the up.
I'm very happy that we've now got some more quality up front and we don't need to trawl the World for a partner for King Luis.
But what we do need is a tough playmaking midfielder to take the workload off the likes of Gerro. Personally, I'd get a home-improvement grant to get Keisuke Honda (£12m?) and/or Coutinho (loan?)....but, realistically, Suso and Coady might be used more.
If Borini steps up to the plate and Allen pulls his socks up we'll stand a chance but they do need a Graeme Souness to take the reins (Gerrard has improved immensely in the last few weeks but .....well, he's no Souness).
I'm not talking about a cruncher but someone who can pick the team up by the scruff of the neck.
I know we won yesterday so talk of grit and playmakers seems moot but we still haven't beaten a top team for ages....just thinking out loud !
ANFIELDPETE

Istanbul remind you off anything and the last 10yrs. Gerrard has and will continue picking up our team so not getting your point about gs. Sorry but you haven't been watching liverpool over the yrs after your comment lol.

Gezza1982

Gerrard would have kept Souness on the bench he's lucky Stevie didn't play back in his day {Ed001's Note - you are joking! Souness was better by a margin.}

Charlie was great but he played with great players but stevie is by far the best player ever to play for lfrc. red mick tag

21 Jan 2013 08:29:19
Ed001 the gerrard of old was definitely better than Souness. Just because Souness had more aggression it doesn't mean he was better.

Hounsred

20 Jan 2013 23:21:51
Don't worry guys.. Sneijder was a just smokescreen to throw the media.
BR and Tom Werner are working undercover as we speak, on the targets they really want.

Brad

Everyone forgets how good souness was because of his stint as manager.
Personally I don't think there's much between them both with souness just taking it.

King luis

And that would be?

20 Jan 2013 23:19:26
Snidjer that good out of all the big teams with the big money none of them wanted him... He's also not match fit and injury prone aged 28 and we wouldn't be able to only pay him when he plays. A bullet dodged IMO. coutinho a better signing for a longer period at a lesser cost with a potentially huge sell on fee.

Swampmonster

20 Jan 2013 23:16:37
can I ask is coutinho a winger/forward (in a front three) or is he a CM (albeit an attacking CM).

rodges brain

Coutinho is just like Suso by being suited to just in front of the midfield but can play wide left should he be required.
Scouse_Pride

20 Jan 2013 23:05:45
coutinho bid, I feel, is an attempt to get blackpool to release ince, in letting them know that we have other options.

with sahin leaving a replacement is surely being sought, whether that be on loan or straight buy I would have thought. I would like to ask the eds do they have any names who may be being lined up to replace sahin in the cm role?

rodges brain {Ed002's Note - Somesort of smokescreen come message of intent you think?}

Come on Ed002, as you know, the transfer window its a complex month of bidding for players as a 'smoke-screen' lol haha
RedChris

Blackpool don't need the money, they will be glad we have 'lost' interest. But I'm with the Eds a deal most likely will happen

20 Jan 2013 23:04:13
Couple of pivotal games coming up against wenger boys & citeh. We av had a couple of times where we av had a chance to break in2 the chasing pack for 4th & lost, 4pts from 6 would be massive & give us a real idea where we are at in our development.

Jones looks far more solid than reina, carra in 4 me organising the back 4, the return to fitness of Lucas, return to form of our captain Gerrard, improvement made since December of hendo & downings games + the understanding of Suarez & sturridge and borini back let's hope this time we get the right results at the right time.

Jimbob

21 Jan 2013 05:25:34
improvment doesn't give you 3 points....it gives another imporvment...

The game against the gooners will be huge - both our seasons could go in opposite directions depending on the result. They have had the upper hand on us recently but if we win that one Top 4 becomes a serious reality

20 Jan 2013 23:00:30
now that the sneijder move is done, any comments regarding it should not be posted,

incidentally Ed's, when Gerrard mentioned that the squad should be looking for experience, and then BR backed it up, you got any ideas of who would fit the bill,

I think LS will go if we can't meet his aspirations, push for CL this year, and get it next year, do you think that;ll be enough??? great work by the way.

20 Jan 2013 22:59:32
i wish people would realise that if we were to buy sneijder, as we all may have liked, we would of had to pay him substantially (if not almost double) more than what we pay stevie g or suarez, two players who have proved themselves with us, and are obviously top class. this isn't a lack of ambition from the owners but a realisation of the disruption it may have created in the group having an overpaid player without a reason for such. I am glad he aren't coming. if he wasnt willing to come for the shirt and take a reasonable wage, sod him. we have spent big wages on overvalued players for long enough

rodges brain

20 Jan 2013 22:53:47
Sneijder has agreed to join Galatasary. A chance to sign a top quality established player has slipped our grasp. Surely if we wanted him we could have got him. We all know its obvious with the team/squad we have we are looking at 6th / 5th at the very best this season and this may not then be enough to keep hold of Suarez. We need to spend big on the big name players to get back to where we belong. Even Super Stevie G has said it himself!!!

Buying him wouldn't have been the problem paying him would have been the problem.

He was offered a good deal but he choose to go to turkey to earn more. he's a mercenary, good player and we tried. Move on.

20 Jan 2013 22:35:59
Well eds
Rodgers said yesterday that he would like to add a player with experience have you any idea who this is are who he might look at

Thanks Paul

He is looking for a player who has played over 150 or 200 first team games

KUMBER

20 Jan 2013 22:31:18
welcome back xabi, YNWA...

20 Jan 2013 22:23:08
Eds, who would you rather have - Ince or Coutinho?
Both similar build, but I think Coutinho has bags more talent. Too many overpriced British players. We've been stung before.

Gav the Red {Ed052's Note - Coutinho by a country mile}

20 Jan 2013
Waro {Ed052's Note - you're not as far as im aware}

Hmmm love to know the question there :) {Ed002's Note - The question was "Will it snow in Windsor tomorrow?"}

Well if that disagree doesn't show it's all about the name at the bottom of the post nothing does, ha ha ha ha ha ha. Superb.

Waro

.

Waro {Ed052's Note - cool, no problem}

20 Jan 2013 22:19:35
Hey eds is there any truth in the speculation that Torres wants to move back to us on loan if Brendan Rodgers wants him? {Ed052's Note - he may want to returnnbut he wont}

20 Jan 2013 22:11:06
I don't know what others think but I think we dodged a bullet by not buying sneijder. Would rather want to have players who are hungry to play for our club.

lfc2005

He hasn't played for that long it would of taken until end of the season to get fit and get any "Value" out of him!

Lyndon

20 Jan 2013 22:04:48
If Liverpool don't at least submit a formal bid for Sniejder then it says a lot about the ambitions of FSG.

We are wanting to get into the champions league, keep our best players and recruit top quality players. Why not bring in a player who would help with all this?

Liverpool Cabbie {Ed052's Note - mate, bidding for WS but knowing we couldn't afford his wages would be pathetic and embarrassing}

20 Jan 2013 21:57:55
Just a general question for the Eds please. About every 5 or so posts, I see someone utter the immortal words "x is a smokescreen for y." Now I understand you Eds have contacts in the football world, so my question is, do "smokescreens" actually ever happen or are they just the figments of overactive conspiracy theorist minds? Because the way some people go on, the premier league is like a Navajo reservation.

Cheers,

Sean {Ed052's Note - no. They dont happen! Its just something made up to excite people}

In other words, the sneijder saga is a smokescreen; expect to see Adam West and Burt Ward to leap through a smokescreen holding k'pow and biff signs instead. Smokescreens - completely far fetched.

Cuchulainn's Hounds

Cheers Ed052. But is your answer actually a smokescreen for the fact that they do really happen? :)

Cheers,

Sean. {Ed052's Note - perhaps it is Sean!}

20 Jan 2013 21:26:27
Ed002, I understand you may not be comfortable giving details but I would love to know what you do professionally? If it has anything to do with you hearing all this info
Bren, {Ed002's Note - Sorry Bren, but the occupations of the Eds remains a closely guarded secret. There are rumours of course.}

Ed002, there is nothing wrong about being a pole dancer ? Be proud of your career

Tel 1949

20 Jan 2013 22:17:14
BREN did you not know the ED(S) actually work for mi5 but keep it to youself its a secret.

Haha, ed002 is on Match of t'Day now !

21 Jan 2013 00:10:48
If you want info on the eds you need to go to www.ed-rumours.co.uk

They're astute businessmen & owners of the Boston Red Sox.

20 Jan 2013 21:48:54
At last, i'm not going to be reading 100's of W.Sneijder posts anymore.
I still can't believe no other clubs came in for him tho.

FowlerGod.

20 Jan 2013 21:47:00
Read that Liverpool are to get 2M from the sale of Insua from sporting to Gremio. 50% sell on clause

Also is there any interest in Mbark
Boussoufa? Read we my plan a 8m move for him.

F5

What happened to him? I always thought he'd come good

He got fat, ran out of talent, went to sporting and is now on his way to gremio.

MIKEY

20 Jan 2013 21:44:38
Roll on february its a rumours site not bloody questions and answer the same questions being asked over and over and over i'm sure the eds are reliant on asprin at this stage..
If you hear info ie a rumour post it..
The team is starting to build bit by bit and jan has always proven a hard time to recruit.. i'd rather we bide our time and save our money for players worth waiting for not another impulse buy like carroll..
Rant over.
Cheers.

20 Jan 2013 21:40:31
Watched the Spurs / United game today and was very happy with the result. Spurs dominated the game and deserved to win, let alone draw.

Right on cue, ole whickey nose complains about the linesman saying Rooney should have had a pen ( blatant dive in my opinion ) PLUS they should have had a throw in later ! The man is such a poor loser and has no class whatsoever.

We got beat by United and BR plus most of us accepted the result, because we were just not good enough on the night. Its called 'class' fergie, just in case you missed it.

Heres hoping he gets at least the same FA reprimand that Sam Allardyce got....but of course he won't and we all know it. United could just blow it considering how far ahead they were. They have the points but in all honesty I don't think they will win it. Rant over.

In the meantime lets hope we go from strength to strength and hopefully end up 4th !

Tel 1949

He was having a go at the linesman for not giving a pen. but remember all those years ago when tottenham scored and it went over the line and the lineman didn't see it? ferguson is so hypocrital its untrue

He may be a great manager but he's a horrible person

Wasnt complaining about their offside 2nd goal last week......

20 Jan 2013 21:37:04
£2m on way for 50% sell-on clause on Insua, ta.
Piddy.

20 Jan 2013 21:32:29
Any idea when we'll be seeing some designs/plans for the Anfield redevelopment?

Certainly not before eufa enforce financial fair play rules. When we get new owners if Uefa don't.

Wesley Sneijder will now disappear into football obscurity. Such a waste of talent especially for a player who back in 2010 was probably on a par with the likes of Messi. We missed a gem there but at least he hasn't signed for Spurs. DBol

Hes never ever ever ever ever ever ever
Been on Par with Messi!!

Lyndon

''was probably on a par with the likes of Messi'' Did I read that correctly?

MR EM

On a par with Messi? Really:) Seriously? lol
kidmillions

In 2010 he won the champions league, Seria A, coppa Italia and got Holland to the World Cup final. Yeh in 2010 he was on a par with Messi

The year inter won the treble he was amazing and got holland to the world cup final proved it at club and international level what did messi do with the argies in the world cup finals but hardly a tough choice galatasaray or a brendan rodgers led team

That's was as a team you No name fools!

As an individual he has never even in his dream been as good as Messi

Lyndon

Thats what he gets for being greedy and disloyal.

ri red {Ed002's Note - But of course everything would eb fine if Liverpool could have afforded him? Pitiful really.}

I've just backed it up with facts Linda. Your just ranting now. We haven't signed him anyway maybe we will bring in someone else. If BR can find another player available of his quality i'd be very surprised

Linda never heard that one before!!

I'll rest with the thought that in your tiny mind
for even one second you put him on a par with Messi!!lol

21 Jan 2013 02:48:05
in a reply to they guy who was saying ehat sniedjer won in 2010. didn't messi win ballodor ? comfturtbley

Hey Eds

Finally it's over ......

: Sneijder accepts Galatasaray terms

And I'm sure he has gone there for footballing reasons ;)

Thatracoonstolemybacon

21 Jan 2013 00:10:13
he didn't have much choice when no other was intrested

20 Jan 2013 20:45:00
Hi Eds, do you believe FSG will allow BR to bring in any experienced player (now or in the summer) or will their requirement for value for money and potential for resale always mean that any requests for funding the purchase of an older player will be denied.

Jason {Ed052's Note - BR can bring in who he wants within reason}

And what is within reason Ed? An overrated Championship ex player who we sold 18 months ago for 250k? BR wanted Sneijder and couldn't have him, just like he couldn't have Dempsey due to inept yonks!

20 Jan 2013 20:42:25
I know its highly unlikely reina will leave now let alone in the summer, but do the eds think ochoa would be a decent replacement if he did, he's only 27 and at 6 million is fairly cheap, I assume his wage demands would be quite appealing to the club aswell? what's the eds opinions on him as a player? {Ed052's Note - no, I dont think we should go for him}

20 Jan 2013 23:01:49
Said it before, I only saw him at 2010 World Cup. He wasn't confidence inspiring.

- Something Red -

20 Jan 2013 21:26:41
Ah, Sneijder........you have broken so many hearts on this website......enjoy the Turkish sun

20 Jan 2013 21:22:29
Its done Sneijder has gone to Gala!

Finally that can be put to bed!

Thank god!

NS

What's robbie Fowler got to do with it

20 Jan 2013 21:18:30
I don't understand, every lfc fan knows that the clubs policy is if the right player comes along at the right price and the deal is suitable for both parties then money isn't part of the equation! This has been stated many times by BR and Ian Ayre. What gets me is that althought the eds do a fantastic job on this site and give us lfc fans a great page to come onto, every player that is mention is almost straight away "too dear for the club" and "we can't afford them" etc. It's makin out like we can't compete anymore. We are still one of the biggest clubs in the world, going through a period of transition to fulfil us back to where we belong and I know we won't be rushing out and buying cavani etc but we can still compete at a high level for players, and I understand that some people claim to be in the know and whatever but no one can really truly know unless your BR or Ian Ayre etc! I think I speak on behalf of the majority of most lfc fans in saying that we would all love to see sneijder pull on our number 10 shirt, if it happens fantastic, if it doesn't ah well. Just let us see what happens with out makin out like we can't afford him, use don't do the accounts at lfc. I know people ask the same questions over and over but not every1 has the time to read all the posts or search everytime and I'm sure it's annoying but don't belittle our football club! I'm not havin a go eds but you have to see my point. I still believe we are a great team and we can see week by week the players growing and the partnerships developing and we are playing some fantastic football so we can all be happy of that wether we sign more players this window or not let's just see what happens and in the meantime enjoy the games be happy and support the team til the death the way our fathers and grand fathers before us have and get behind the team the managers and owners and unite to get our football team back where it belongs.

P.S. what a great prospect Daniel sturridge and luis Suarez look to be playing along side each other. Sorry for the long post just felt like I needed to say what a lot of people are thinking. Y.N.W.A

Gazman10

Too earl to judge. We were playing Norwich at home! We should be thrashing teams like that. I will reserve my judgement until after we play Man City and Arsenal away!

20 Jan 2013 21:18:19
Any chance of Toni kroos?

20 Jan 2013 21:08:31
Schneider has signed for gala. My bad!

Keenoggs

20 Jan 2013 20:55:51
Any chance of the Eds discarding 75% of posts on this site. It has become a question and answer site lately. Just to remind people out there this is meant to be a rumours site. Come on lets get back to posting rumours and make the site interesting again..

20 Jan 2013 23:21:41
Started off has a rumour site, now we have a banter page and a team page. So shut it....nah only kidding,
I agree

Billy bob thorton (the one who was with angelina jolie)

20 Jan 2013 20:55:42
I hope the Conthinio deal goes through looks like a decent player. Sturridge looking like a good signing we need to get behind him!Hopefully we will be dancing a few more times before the end of the season;D.

20 Jan 2013 20:22:51
Eds Is Coutinho out injured at the mo because he's not in the Inter team or amongst the 12 subs for the game against Roma tonight.

Red1 {Ed052's Note - he's not injured. He isn't good enough to always be in the squad}

Why do we want him then.. we are surely a lot stronger than inter

So if he's not good enough to get into inters squad why are we after him, sounds a great player...

That is just an opinion from Ed052 and he is definitely good enough to play in Inters first team in my opinion. And would be a great signing for Liverpool should that happen.

Gazline

20 Jan 2013 20:34:10
Sorry for two but the same website states we also have interest in Nolan Roux he's a striker I've personally never heard of anything on him to? YNWA {Ed052's Note - we did 3 years back}

20 Jan 2013 20:33:26
Coutino could prove to be brendas greatest ever maste stroke of our lifetime. This kid has everything your modern south american superstar has and more and at 8-10 million could be the buy of the decade at 20 years old. i'm not saying "will" as he's flattered to deceive but "could" surely that's worth a punt if memory serves me right i'm sure 2 years ago he cost in excess of £16 million as he was hailed and rightly so as the brazillian messy.... Get your dollars out mr werner please!! Redted75 {Ed052's Note -

He cost 4million, 4 years a go when he was 16, not sure where you got 16million from.

20 Jan 2013 20:32:26
Are Liverpool In Talks With Inter Milan Over Philippe Coutinho ? {Ed052's Note - we bid. The situation is complicated and Ed002 has explained at length}

20 Jan 2013 20:48:38
well he isn't in the inter milan squad tonight against roma so could be possible.

Not sure about the player? But really like his name Coutinho it sort of just rolls off the tongue, which is probably the principle reason a lot posters want him at LFC and not because they've seen him play consistently well at a high level?
kidmillions

20 Jan 2013 20:32:23
I hope you are wrong about Ince and Sneijder. Ince adds no value, not good enough. Sneijder would add creativity and with his experience and ability we could start beating the big sides and instill belief in a side lacking confidence. Also having sneijder helps us in attracting more world class players. Eds can you answer honestly: do you think Sneijder is worth the extra 50-100K a week? He could be the difference between finishing 4th and 7th. Btw appreciate your contributions to a great site

Sneijder is not signing for lfc and he never was liverpool have stated that there has been no intrest.

20 Jan 2013 20:30:09
Sounds like this Ochoa guy needs to come in after we're back in the Champions League.
Then he can hold his hand up at Old Trafford - we won it SIX times !

Haha classic mate
JJ

20 Jan 2013 20:26:59
I find it unbelievable that we let a player of sneijders quality slip through our fingers.why don't the owners sell the cub and let someone come in who would really put some money into the team because it really is getting beyond a joke.they said they wanted to knock man united from their perch.im sorry to say you have to buy world class players to do that.

Why don't some people realise that its not championship manager. footballs clubs are still companies and businesses and therefor have to at least try and break even if not make a profit. man u's stadium has 30 thousand on anfield and along with merchandise etc they make a hell of a lot more turnover than us and can therefor pay higher wages and transfer fees, fsg have spent plenty of money since taking over ownership whether or not they were not the right purchases that was down to camoli, dalglish and now rodgers. at the end of the day were in a lot better state than just before fsg took over, and for that I am at least thankful.

20 Jan 2013 20:46:41
they never said anything of the sort you muppet..if he was rlly worth it why weren't all the clubs above us in the league go for him? overrated money grabber who I don't want at my club

I find it unbelievable that after all the good work the owners have done, and are currently doing, to recover our club from the shambles H & G left in in, fans like you wish to throw it all away and risk putting us back into the same sorry state by signing overhyped players on beyond ridiculous wages.
To be honest, the only things that are beyond a joke are your ill-informed views.

20 Jan 2013 20:27:26
Lets put all our focus on getting a player of experience like ALONSO.

Not saying he is a Sneijder ... but his heart is in the right place for our club and he will take any reasonable wages to come back and be supporter at Liverpool.

It might not happen in this window... but we are starting to look good and a view good experienced players may be really interested in the current project at our club.

There must be some reason why Brendan, Saurez and Stevie have come up and been so vocal regarding experienced players (obviously to FSG) so lets see what happens in the rest of the window.

Come On You Reds

20 Jan 2013 20:12:19
What do you think are the chances of Suarez leaving? Great site and thanks from everyone for all of the hard work you have out in {Ed052's Note - low}

20 Jan 2013 20:07:06
Phillipe Coutinho is not in Inter's squad for their game tonight. He is believed to be closing in on a move to LFC but Spurs are also keen
Murton red

20 Jan 2013 20:24:00
Sure spurs share are scouting staff.

I understand spurs are not interested!

They ll be interested now were reported to be lol

20 Jan 2013 20:03:58
I am in the Sneijder camp at 28 he is the same age as Johnson / Agger / Skrtel / Downing hardly ready to be pensioned off

Can't see the need for Coutinhon at 20 he is the same age as Suso / Adorjan / maybe Shelvey in some people's eyes - we have enough cover for that age group

With cole and sahin an experienced attacking mid / #10 is needed for the next few years while the youngster gain experience

Leam Red
Accept sneijder is not coming but that type of player is really needed

Not impressed with Erickssen of Ajax no better than our youngsters

20 jan 2013 19:41:24
im not sure but could this whole sneijder thing not be a coincedence or someone got there wires crossed? heres what i think could someone hav seen a lfc representitve at the san siro more likely scouting coutinho and immediately thought wesley sneijder is not got long on his contract and talk of him moving to turkey (lightbolb) "liverpool must also be interested" when were actually looking at coutinho. not saying i'm right but my opinion lol

wigan red ynwa.

20 Jan 2013 19:45:39
Thank god that sneijder saga is nearly over

20 Jan 2013 19:33:02
Hi eds
With BR not giving away any hints of who we
might sign, I was wondering how many more players
you think we will sign in the window? IF so who might
they be as I see a a lot of posts where you will say Liverpool
are not interested in that player, then who are Liverpool linked with besides Ince?

Zach {Ed052's Note - I would say 1 more}

Hello, sry ed you would say 1 more except Ince?
Thanks RITMICAK {Ed052's Note - I dont expect Ince, just one more signing}

20 Jan 2013 19:16:30
Sorry pal but a load of rubbish BR unlike previous regimes will give the chances to the youngsters at the expense of older pros not performing so wisdom, sterling & suso got their chances.

However there will be others that come thru at the end of the season or next season. The ones you named are obvious ones named on these pages before but not necessarily the ones in form like teixeira, yesil & especially McLaughlin & Ibe!

Jimbob

20 Jan 2013 19:16:28
Been playing with this Coutinho lad on fifa and he's good, so would defo be good in the prem. A must buy!!

BR

Where on earth is Ian Ayre when you need him? LFC needs to come clean and deny this relentless Sneider rumours once and for all and lay the matter to rest. We won't pay him silly wages and he doesn't suit our transfer policy. Please not another Joe Cole saga all over. There are younger and much better players on lower wages. We don't need Sneider. Full stop.

Abroad Red

We are NOT signing Wesley Sneijder!! Will all fans stop going on about it, take this as the gospel truth from the horse's mouth!

Ian Ayre would be a very busy man indeed, if everytime we get linked to a player, he has to come out and make a statement to deny it.

Earlier this week Big Sam was fined by the FA for a comment he made on the referees in the FA cup replay at Old Trafford. Following that precedent set by the FA they should therefore also fine Ferguson for his comments today. I mean Ferguson himself said that they set a precedent when they let Kompany off the red then they should also follow that up with the fine on Big Sam and slap Ferguson with a huge fine. Just saying.

But you surely know Slurs untouchable

not sure why so many people keep banging on about the need for a "number 10" type player got one of the best in the world in luis . his link up with DS is no fluke its happened because suarez is in his ideal posistion

How can anyone disagree with this text suarez been doing 2 jobs all season now with DS he can concentrate on getting onthe ball and not worry about leading line

So SAF states: "It was a clear penalty-kick on Wayne Rooney but in no way was the the linesman going to give that. He gave them everything else. We have not had a good record with this linesman, against Chelsea a few years ago he gave onside to Didier Drogba who was three yards offside, you remember those things"
In light of the FA charging every manager that ever says anything negative about officials when their decision have a favoured Man Utd, it will be interesting to see if SAF gets charged in a similar manner for these comments......i doubt it very much.

It would appear that all other managers must feel like stepping on egg shells when speaking out against what they believe to be unjust decisions, but he seems to be able to say what the hell he likes.....Yes it was a penalty, but the comments on linesman are out of order IMO

Regardless of the Everton result, this weekends results has been very kind to us.

Spurs have some tough fixtures coming up, Everton have a hard end to the season, and if we beat Arsenal we'll be right in the mix for 4th spot.

7 points difference and Everton and Spurs need to come to Anfield. Game on.

Glass half full.

No doubt there'll be some stumbles along the way WelshboyDave. But I'm with you. Glass half full.
Still, the stumbles will give the moaners something to post again - its been quite peaceful on here this weekend!

Looks like the Sneijder rumours are true. He has joined Liverpool on a 4 year deal. Well I made it happen on Fifa 13. Much easy to negotiate on there........

20 Jan 2013 18:53:03
Just before Christmas West Brom were actually 8 points ahead of us. Now we're sitting above them and level on points with Arsenal(true, they've a game in hand), but with them and Spurs both droppin points today it's been a great weekend for Liverpool, hopefully Southampton can frustrate Everton tomorrow night.

Keep up the good work Brendan and the lads. We're slowly getting there

Hi Eds

Thank you for all your hard work.

Can you tell me when is somebody going to sort alex ferguson out, he is a disgrace slamming the linesman like that, he should be fined heavily, he s making the FA look like muppets,

He should be charged for bringing the game into disrepute for wearing that
HAT alone!!!

20 Jan 2013 18:45:24
Mate this is how Ferguson has ruled epl more then 25 years it means if the situation arises again the linesman will disallow opppsition goal.

Fergie has been given free points and league titles by refree over the years, nothing will change until he retires or else every Title united will be given by refree or our socalled FA

Big Sam gets charged but guaranteed the FA won't touch Fergie! And they say there's no bias towards Utd! Normal farce

Hi Eds. Sneijder has been linked with UTD for so many seasons that past yet now that he is out of favour at Inter, they have no interest in him. Is there any reason they not interested? Also you mentioned a player on loan but who will it be that will get regular football and give us the strength we nred?x {Ed052's Note - they no longer need a WS type player. They wasted all their money on Kagaww remember!}

FSG are not the right owners, I hope they sell up soon.The manager deserves to be backed up financially and owners who interfere in football matters always turns out in disaster like abramovich but at least he commits money. As for ian ayre he's a donkey running errands. YNWA {Ed002's Note - FSG has provided considerable financial support and do not interfere. Eds and fans can you provide an assesment on Krisztian Adorjan ?

Good player but seems to be a lot like suso and texiera. I personally prefer the latter two. I think they have been trying to turn adorjan into a more all round CM which might give him a chance of a career at Anfield. Either way he will be a great player but maybe not for liverpool sadly.

Red Rout

Left side playmaker similar to Suso - got a good eye for a goal and a pass - a determined tackler -

He is absolute class but because of the position he plays he is not going to get playing time. Great shame, he should go out on loan at least.
Christian

I think he will be good. Looks good for the U21's

LFE

The Hungarian Sneijder.

Will not make it at LFC good player but we have players in that position and are looking to buy I'm that position. People need to realise no matter how good the kids are we as fans moan if we aren't spending big money (I'd be one) we can have a few but most kids will not be good enough to play without huge experience that they won't get because we can buy players for the now and keep buying players for now. Him along with many others like flanno morgo ngoo coady sama gulacsi roddan all good players from one of the top u21 sides in the country no chance we have 4 suso sterling wisdom and robbo there ATM it will be a few years before there is more even though the quality IS there remember matchday squads are only 17 players.

I have to agree with some comments on here about Dempsey.

Just think, (although we were looking at him on loan) if FSG hadn't have stood firm over Dempsey we could have ended up with him instead of a permanent Sturridge deal.

Also, if Rodgers hadn't been strong regarding Sigurdsson and his wage demands we could have ended up with him instead of possibly Coutinho (or day I say it...W.S.)

Feel Gerrard was spot on today. We need a couple more but we've certainly dodged a few bullets.

IncaMan
P.S. I know there's a lot of 'ifs' but that's what a banter page is for, isn't it?

Agree totally, although a permanent deal for Sturridge last summer would have been better that Dempsey. Daniel was got for £12m now and was available for what £15m in the summer rather than a loan we wanted! How much did we offer for Dempsey then? These decisions need sorting out long term for us to get up the table.

Keith

I'm a spurs fan and will give you an honest opinion what we think of the players! No one really wanted gylfy to be fair! He was bought as a squad player who could develop? The same with dempse! Another bought as a squad player! He to be fair has had more games and would say when starting and when comming of the bench has done reasonably well 75% of the time! Now this isn't a dig but. We bought them as squad players whereas had they signed for you would probably have started?

Fair point.

Although, despite him equalising today, i'd rather have Sturridge as a regular starter than Dempsey.

IncaMan

We got caught out in the summer and was left with one forward (adebayor doesn't count)! Should we buy a striker then demps drops back to the bench! But as I said he ain't doing too bad esp for the price!

You didn't buy them as squad players as they have started most games

Spurs poster-johnny big nuts comments made me laugh what do you ever win? And last few seasons inc this-meant to be best Spurs sides for years!

20 Jan 2013 16:53:30
man united just really are looking unbeatable this season, there was no shame in them beating us last week. there squad is just so deep unlike ours

A MU win is the best outcome for us ...... Jesus have I just said that !

Best outcome for LFC if we want to push for 4th spot.

They just outscore any other team,

Their defence is actually very poor, ours has not been its best this season but we have still conceded 2 less goals then UTD

You have to admire the way they play though,

shame really...

21 Jan 2013 00:07:51
To be honest I think it's all in the attitude - Fergie treats draws the way we treat losses. He is well established, there is consistency in the management and the team are used to winning things therefore confidence always high. Fergie knows how to work the media too, which although I don't believe the conspiracy theories, he plays a blinder. It's wrong, but it's the way it is. They don't have that much more quality in the squad than we do...maybe more depth in their choice of strikers, but their defence is poor and individual midfield players are fairly average. But on the other hand United are good at keeping their players so they have played as a team for a long time, just adding players when needed. Other teams in the league almost go into games knowing they will lose, giving them waaaay too much respect. LFC have lacked consistency in management for years now, ESP the last 3 seasons. New managers coming in and changing tactics, a whole host of new players, and testing of various formations. I think give it a few seasons, time for BR to really push his philosophy and gain some consistency, rid the side of this lack of confidence and we'll be right up there with them. The worse thing that could happen is BR being sacked and us losing our star players, Agger, Skrtel, Suarez, Lucas, and our young hopefuls moving on...I think we will be fine though. Can't help but feel this season is out of our hands, we just have to go in there and win as many games as we can and hope we can gain on the teams above us if they slip up. Chin up guys, we are LFC, something the Mancs will never be.

Is it true Guillermo Ochoa has 6 fingers on one hand, and he can't play in England due to his specially made keepers glove being illegal?, or is that just a load of made up rubbish?

Yeah I remember reading about this a few years back. I don't know if the rules have changed since though.

why don't liverpool try and loan coutinho? inter will most likely agree to loaning him because they don't want to sell nor do they want to play him regularly. what do the eds think is it possible a response would be great thanks {Ed052's Note - a loan may be possible if everything we're to fall into place for Inter I.e. they solve their problems by getting in Paulinho}

So you don't think Coutinho signing on a permanent deal is an option, you think a loan is a possibility instead should Inter get Paulinho ?

BigD {Ed002's Note - The question was about a loan, not about him being sold.}

I must admit, I did not want Sturridge at LFC, I wanted Walcott instead, and was a little disappointed when we did sign DS...I'm so please we did, I never imagined him and Luis would click quite so soon and so well, he really has hit the ground running. If his first few games haven't just been beginners luck he is just what we have been lacking since Torres left. Great work Brendan!

Ps, he's such a nice lad as well, where is this ego the papers kept banging on about?

Agree. First LFC player since 1974 to score three goals in their first 3 games.
I hope he can carry on the scoring form, because it seems to give the team a boost. And I know it makes us supporters happy.

The more I see that daft dance, the better! Looks like he really wants to be here. I don't think we ever really got behind Andy Carroll properly (never even had his own chant!) So let's not make the same mistake here.

He could actually be the catalyst to keep wee Luis happy too. He could be huge for us......

We simply have to beat Arsenal. An Everton defeat would put us in 5th.

Everton would have to loose the next two games.

No they wouldn't..we would still be 5th but they would have game in hand

Man we would have been 5th right now, if the Suarez legitimate goal at godson had stood. Everton would have been on 36 points, and so would we with a better goal difference.

And the Aston Villa game, had we just showed up for it, this could have been our season for the top 4.

still have hopes, we need to win the next 2 games.

As soon as I seen that Valdes wanted out from Barca I knew straight away it would be a matter of time before the back to Barcalona rumours started to air again regarding Reina. I think Reina is a world class keeper and when I watch Jones play I appreciate how good Reina actually is. He is a footballer aswell as a Great keeper. Something that Jones is not. There is only one other keeper I've seen who is simular to Reina, which is Joe Hart. Hyperthetically speaking if Barca where to retain Reina in the summer I would like to think we would search for a simular type of keeper to continue our play from the back style. So I just wanted to see if any of the Ed's Knew of any keepers out there who are like Reina?

Thanks

Reevesy {Ed052's Note - my personal opinion is that we need to sell asap. He is getting worse not better. His distribution isn't as good as people make out, heis poor in the air, he seems to fumble a lot more and his reflexes are poorer. When Jones is in the team I have so much more confidence. So in answer to your, do I know any keepers like Reina, ido. There are lots ofpoor keepers out there}

I like Reina and wish he could recover his best form. I always thought he was a good keeper ( not world class ) but now have to agree with the ED.
kidmillions

Would not be fussed one bit if he goes tomorrow as long as we get a replacement in. Reina is getting worse and worse by the game.

There's a plethora of goalkeeping talent in the Bundesliga. If we were to sell Reina (at a decent price of course), then we could definitely bring in a great young keeper. Ter Stegen, Ron Robert Zieler, Kevin Trapp (mentioned by Ed002 and a friend who rates him as one of the best for his age) - Not saying we would get one of them, but it's an indication that there are some great young keepers out there. I hope we don't go for Butland though, I don't think that would be a smart move. Reina's heart just doesn't seem in it anymore.

JFT 96

I'm surprisingly comfortable with Jones in goal Reina is likely to try and overplay it and give it away, in a lot of situations I would just rather the keeper's just hoof it up the pitch!

Totally agree about reina but not about jones. Brad jones looks clumsy. Against mansfield he looked shocking

Cheers for your insight Ed052...I respect your opinion of reina but I don't agree. To whoever listed the Budesliga keepers, are we talking great shot stoppers or all rounders in terms of a footballing goalkeeper?

I remeber just before the window opened there were reports suggesting that we would have £20mill to spend in jan plus player sales. We purchased sturridge for £12mill and it seems we have £8mill left. hence why we bid £8mill for countinho and we're reluctant to pay more than £6mill for ince.

Becoz Coutinho is better than Ince

English players overtated!!

Coutinho is by far a better player than Ince.

bigD

Plus he plays for Inter and Ince plays for the mighty....blackpool.

Ince is another one season wonder

We also had to pay joe cole £x million just to leave

We didn't have to pay j.cole 'to leave'
He left and we had to pay him what we owed him

Puzzled {Ed002's Note - It was rather less than what he was owed in reality.}

To be honest, I don't want us to sign ince, for a couple of million more there are far better players out there, and whose to say if he wasn't playing as regularly as he wanted he wouldn't throw another strop.he had his chance, and didn't think enough of the club to be prepared to wait.rob b

hey eds! just a few quick questions! do you feel sturridge will be a good signing judging by his recent form for us? who do you think is more likely to sign, phillipe coutinho or wesley sneijder? and who would you prefer out of the two? thanks
Welsh red :) {Ed052's Note - DS will be very good for us. In only 2 weeks BR has got him to play with his head up and pass it about. Coutinho, and Coutinho}

Yeah your probably right ed.. We have taken a massive amount of money off the wage bill which we shouldn't put on.. I'd love sneijder but I would have loved cole 3 years ago and that didn't turn out too well

I agree 100% that no one player is bigger than The Club-LFC. However I am concerned with Suare's 'dive' comments in particular the potential reasoning behind them.Because whatever anyone says the guy is special, his talents rare and at a Premium nowadays. Ok we replaced Torres but he didn't create like Suarez.I really do think Fenway and Rodgers could give him a message of our intent, with a top recognised, quality signing in this and Summers Transfer Windows.Were trying to build something Special here, and every time jigsaws nearly complete in previous Seasons of late, we've lost a key piece in structure, and had to start again

Completely agree mate but what 30 million pound player will sign for us when we are 7th/8th? that's why I think Sneijder is perfect and why I am so screaming for him. AHHHHHHH!!

O.p agree with respondent

Thanks Eds for your great work!

Just been on , and they're normally ITK...

Sneijder's odds to come to L'pool have been slashed overnight from 3/1 to 6/4 and we are now favourites, with Gala close behind at 15/8.

This coupled with Stevie G's interview today makes me feel that we're in for a sniff for him.... If we can somehow get him the right offer with Salary / bonuses.

For me a midfield trio of Lucas / Gerrard / Sneijder is just as good as Mascha / Alonso / Gerrard, and this could be just the signing to fire us up the league!!

Fingers crossed reds, we need the top 4 to keep suarez, and get all the other stars to start pushing us up to challenge again!!

3 more Chelski goes & we're up to 6th........serves them right for selling their best player to top 4 rivals......clueless!

One word. Torres.

20 Jan 2013 13:59:56
What delighted me yesterday is we DIDN'T drop off deep inviting pressure when leading we kept up same tempo pace and conviction for FULL 90 Min+!! And HEndo.Stevie, and front two MUST take credit for that

20 Jan 2013 13:59:29
Hearing Gerrard talk about sneijder on goals on Sunday gives me much more hope. He clearly said that Brendan Rodgers wants him and I think a deal can be completed...

20 Jan 2013 13:55:38
iv'e heard people here have comment re snieder, wage demands etc simple really if we have lofty ambitions we need top quality players this guy is top draw if we have a chance let the club worry about paying him .

like city, united and chelsea you have to pay to get the best, if the club deciide we can afford it, it would send a statement to all of football wer'e going places {Ed002's Note - Liverpool cannot afford his demands and nobody cares or is interested in any "statements" being made.}

I believe the days of the plastic clubs like Chelsea and Man City are coming to an end. It must be soul destroying for players to play in conference style atmospheres even though the massive wages help. Liverpool FC on the other hand, to quote Sturridge, are and always will be a humongous club. There are also increasing signs that we are witnessing a real birth of a new era, not the birth of another false dawn. The media have pseudo reduced Liverpool to a club that's faded into nothing. But the red fire is rising. Plastic melts, gold doesn't.

Gold does melt...

I admire your optimism, but I'm pretty sure that gold does melt at a lower temperature than quite a lot of metals, including Iron.

Been saying for ages on here and elsewhere what Brendans now said.And I'm glad he's recognised-Were a quite team! We need leaders and talkers on the pitch to organized, encourage and be llo k if needs be.Quality and personality required in next signings.-real determined Winners.pity Carra wasn't 5 years younger, he showed yesterday and for years he's processed those qualities in spades

We CAN beat Arsenal, just hope we DON'T play too high a line, the main threat v them is the shear pace they'break'at!

20 Jan 2013 14:31:57
They have pace, but have you seen Walcott trying to spring the Chelsea offside trap today? He can't. He's a yard off every time. Striker my arse.

Set the defence on the halfway line.

My old man always told me, it's not how many you score but how many you set up. Sturridge gets that he isn't the main target which is something I doubted about him (attitude, selfish player) from previous posters. Looks like a guy who has been unfortunate enough to be a 3rd choice behind a bunch of superstars at previous clubs. Looks like he just wants a fair go and it looks like he came to the right club. He has that instinct as a forward that we have been lacking, comes easy to him. Finds the net, or makes it easier for those around him. Very happy with his purchase.

I see the dreamers are already out in force today.

Kamara puts Stevie on the spot on Goals On Sunday, Stevie's bound to say "yes, of course we'd like him" and suddenly it's nailed on Sneijder's Anfield bound!

Hey, wouldn't it be great?! Don't get your hopes up though people :)

I wouldn't say 'dreamers' when there is confirmed interest, would you?

It's not that I necessarily agree that he will come, but wouldn't be too dismissive of respected journalists etc.

Ed052, You have said that Liverpool have not made any contact with Inter over WS, and I believe you. But do you think that we will make any contact with them regarding him?

Thanks {Ed052's Note - as Ed002 said, Sneidjers agent has probably approached us by now. If his wage demands are ok, then I expect we will have spoken to Inter}

Just going two throw my two penny's worth on our current situation.

I think the signs of progression are obvious.

The last few seasons our downfall was consistency against the 'lower teams' even going back to when rafa as gaffa.

Now under BR we are gradually seeing the ruthless streak we have desperately lacked. How refreshing is it to see us going two up within 30 mins. Killing games off early.

All I see we need is that added quality from 2-3 class players. I can see this being the tipping point from turning the 'top' teams over.

My picks, turan, eriksen, and maybe 1 more forward.

Really exited for the future chaps

Thanks

I was watching Goal Sunday st now, and Steven Gerrard was the gueast alongside Gary McAllister. When Liverpool-Norwich Highlights were shown Gerrard was asked by the host about Sneijder and he replied, " that's a tough one, coz he plays my position, but obviously the manager is interested, but there might be a problem with the wage " {Ed002's Note - So nothing new then.}

Obviously we were strong in all aspects of the game yesterday, but the best part for me was Lucas. For the first time since his return he ruled the midfield defensively. I counted 7 times he broke up Norwich play that otherwise might have developed into something. He wasn't on the score sheet, but provided the pass that broke Suarez away (though Sturridge got credit for the dummy) and completely shut down Norwich midfield which allowed Gerrard to roam. Glad to have our old Lucas back.

If Liverpool were to miss out on top four by only a few points, would anyone agree with Tom Werner that we were right to wait until Jan tobuy Sturridge? Personally, I think it may turn out to be a very expensive mistake.

Nick

No I would blame the disallowed last minute goal at Woodison.

Move on, trying to blame FSG for everything which has/may go wrong with our club, is ridiculous.

No point looking back just let's look forward get behind the team and push them onto 4th and upwards!

NS

I actually believe that (by accident) it's worked in favour of all concerned. It's clear to all of us that it's taken a while for players to get to grips with BRs system. Had DS come in preseason, he would have been part of this learning curve, and some of our fickle fans would have heaped pressure on the lad. Instead he's come in at a time when things are just starting to gel, and hit the ground running. 3 in 3 has silenced the moaners (of which there were plenty on here). Everyone's happy.

Greetings all,

I would firstly like to send my condolences to the Ed in question and encourage all to sign the petition, as a father can't even imagine such loss.....

With regard to football I would like to say that I greatly enjoyed the lads performance yesterday mainly for the effort the whole team put in .

Was also please to see Hendo, Downing put in a good shift and display real battling qualities, the only shame has been that they have had to battle their own fans for so long.

Looking good but remember we have beat a side in freefall that seem to completeley freeze when Suarez is on the pitch.Even when we were poor recently we still gave the canaries a dose.

I hope people keep their feet on the ground, as we still have a lot of work to do before we will be able to challenge .I also hope that if results don't go our way in the next week the Liverpool lemmings don't get to negative .

Things should be looked at realistically and what ever way you look at it things are (slowly) moving forward .

keep the faith

It's rumoured he had some bad advisors who told him he'd made it and he stopped applying himself properly. But that's just rumour, I don't know how true it is.

As a player, he's not bad, but I look at him and I don't see anything we don't also get from someone else. He can't play as a centre forward, so he has to play as an attacking midfielder, second striker or in our front 3. I just think we have better options there so he doesn't get in the team.

I think were actually done JAN Transfer wise
BR surely realised dealing so late in the summer window we missed out on a striker, Sturridge should have been done and dusted then and we may have been further up the board

Also I don't think Scnieder / Courtinho are in LFC plans, because they are not british players.
Since the owners have come in, aside from Suarez come in and Sahin on short term loan,
We have just bought British players in
Downing, Carroll, Bellamy, henderson, Adam, Sturridge, Allen,
But it looks like we are slowing getting rid of the foreign players, and just going for british talent, without CL football, we really are going to be struggling in the future {Ed002's Note - And of course Coates, and Assaidi and Yesil.}

20 Jan 2013 11:05:12
And Borini

...and Enrique.

Firstly I know it's still early days but I was firmly in the pro Sturridge camp. But even i'm surprised at how relaxed and composed he looks in a Liverpool shirt.
Perhaps Brendan Rodgers deserves the credit for excellent Management on Sturridge settling so quickly.
Daniel knows that his team mates before he signed, when asked by Rodgers all spoke positively about him.
Can't get better than going to a new club knowing your new team mates wanted you.
Would make you feel accepted and you would want to hit the ground running to repay them.
Which is exactly what he's doing and doing it with a smile on his face. Long may it continue? I'm sure it will as he's definitely got the ability.

I was not in the pro-Sturridge camp, I knew he had pace and mobility, but I have been most impressed with his passing/link up play .

Liverpool have stepped up their January recruitment drive with an £8 million bid for Inter Milan youngster Coutinho the Daily Mail understand.

After bolstering their attack with the £12 million acquisition of Daniel Sturridge from Chelsea a fortnight ago Brendan Rodgers has turned his attention to strengthening the Reds midfield.

Having grown tired in his attempts to broker a deal with Blackpool for Thomas Ince and Wesley Sneijder's demands proving unreasonable, Rodgers has switched his attentions to 20-year-old Coutinho.

Chairman Tom Werner spent Friday discussing potential transfers and earmarked the one-cap Brazilian international as a player that fits the profile of owners Fenway Sports Group.

Liverpool's initial offer is thought to have been rebuffed by the Serie A giants but they are expected to return with a fresh proposal in order to prise him away from the San Siro.

Despite joining Inter from Vasco Da Gama for €4m as a promising 16-year-old, though he was allowed to remain at the Estádio São Januário on loan until 2010, he has failed to hit the heights expected of him in Italy.

With just 28 league appearances under his belt Coutinho is said to have become increasingly frustrated at his lack of first team opportunities and spent the latter half of last season on loan at Spanish club Espanyol.

Hi guys, I haven't heard much, just what I read but from it I make out that sneijder is asking way to much in wages. He wants roughly what he has now but someone should remind him that he hasn't really been in a run of great form lately and also that the pound is worth more than the euro so therefore wages need reajusting. Rodgers is on this lower wages with bigger bonuses contract deals which I think is a smart wage to make your players earn their money, plus they could always say to sneijder that if in 18 months he does improve, then his wages could rise or bonuses would be bigger sums of money. What is the latest with sneijder as I feel we could do with experience in the squad but not to brake the bank over it! Do you think we are really talking to his reps or are we all just wishing we are? It's great that we keep business inthe hush hush but it so god Damn frustrating for a fan to not heard anything, that's why all these rumours keep popping up coz us fans are all hoping that someone ons th lfc board will read it sand listen! Cheers eds,

Reina is for sale

Reina has had his nose re-set, ignore the thigh strain rumours .

He will definitely be fit for the Arsenal game on 30th January, the only question is, which of the two clubs will he be playing for in that match ?

My opinion? Reina will head back to Spain in the Summer. Maybe if we got Champions League footie it might change his mind.

If we get Champions League football then Suarez will stay without question but if we don't then I think he might well be tempted to move on.

Onlyy opinion, we will see how it pans out.

Please editor explain why it is difficult to get the work permit for coutinho?
el capitano {Ed002's Note - The situation with work permits is that a player will be granted one if (a) he has played 75% of games at full international level for two years for a country ranked reasonably high up, or (b) if an exemption is applied for and granted under the "exceptional talent" provisions. For example, if a case is made to the authorities that a young South American is a demonstrable talent and clearly one for the future, it should be reasonably easy to have an exemption granted. If however, a pretty much run of the mill or average player was being bought and it was clear they are not appreciably better than those which could be found locally, or are being bought because they are cheap, then it will be much more difficult to obtain a work permit. The downside of the system in the UK is that the "bigger" English clubs can cherry pick the decent talent available and can obtain exemptions, and the rest of the players are assumed not to be talented enough for an exemption (as Chelsea or Manchester United etc. don't want them) and therefore obtaining the exemption is much tougher. Some players can obtain work permits through their parents or grand parents being English.}

Ed, would a loan for Coutinho still carry the exact same work permit issues?

cozinoz {Ed002's Note - No, but a work permit would still be required.}

Just wondered, are the once haters the same
people who "hated sturridge"?

I thought sturridge was a shocking signing.. That shows me why BR is manager and I'm not

I'm surprised Cape Verde didn't easily beat South Africa in the CON. Look at the team sheet - they had a David Silva and a Platini in the team.

Best thing is, their Platini's real name is. ... Wait for it....

Luis Suarez. Haha

They should have scored 5.

Delighted with our performance!
Hendo was superb, and BR would do well to stick with that midfield trio for the remainder of the season. Allen and Shelvey will get plenty of chances in europa and Fa cup. I had my doubts over Sturridge but the guy has struck a fantastic partnership up front with King Luis. A quality CAM and another froward could possibly make a top4 finish from next season onwards a walk in the park.

...and a central defender since Coates is not being used as backup, and there's only Carragher.... ra1969

I'm going to have to mention Matej Vydra again, if the Pozzo's can't be coerced into cancelling the loan and cashing in now then we should definitely be looking at him in the summer. Blatantly a future talent or Udinese wouldn't bother with him and the Czech rep has always been good to us!

Liverpool fans all of a sudden praising Henderson, if he had your full support from day one and opened your eyes you probably noticed how well he has been doing for a long time, remember Blackburn away last season if you were at the game? he put in an unbelievable shift in that night. obviously he won't be another Gerrard, (Gerrard is a once in a generation player). but Henderson has been playing well and going about his job when asked without being in the limelight, he obviously has been bought by Liverpool told he could leave by Rodgers and decided to fight for his place and good luck to the kid. I think he is the type of footballer that we need and not many players of that ilk remain.
I think he will continue to grow and develop into a top midfielder.
worrying thing is Rodgers saying on MOTD tonight I hope he will be at Liverpool for years to come.
every other player he has said that about has gone!

Reminds me of Nigel Spackman

They all do good against poor teams see what happens next arsenal man city chelsea .

At last after a long wait it seems that the cog wheels are in motion at last and we are scoring and playing good attacking football. The boys were very good, and I thought the changes made were good. It made my day! Something to be happy about at last.

growing up I always believed liverpool had the best fans in the world, and maybe those that go to the games are, but one look on some of these pages make me realise we hav just as many personic and ficcly fans as united scum, sturridge was always going to improve our squad but most didn't think so, joe allen takes a lot of stick but how he makes space and sees a pass is beyond his years and he will improve, the attempted signing of tom ince has been harrassed but you must realise that liverpool must look for the best value for player they can find and at the min we can't just go out and buy world beaters, but this lad is one of the top scorers in the champ and he's a midfielder, wether we sold him for a pittence or not is irrelevant, he's a winner and will improve our squad, I could waste my breathe all day on how a real fan thinks tho because most of you don't hav a clue so carry on bein bitter, liverpool football club doesn't need you, thers enough real fans to make you obsolete, persons

I'm sure you were singing Adam, Kroncamp and jovanovichs name at every game

Spot on, mate

Just looking at the league table and I see that we've now scored 40 goals, meaning there's only the top three teams that have scored more.
Now that's what I call improvement....When you consider our lack of alternatives upfront? Up until now.. And our slow start to the season.
This improvement coupled with the fact our last 10 league games definitely have the possibilty of us putting in a really strong finish.. Who knows? fingers crossed..
kidmillions

But the point that we've scored 10 of them against one side, norwich .

BR deserves a lot of credit for the way he s marshalled his troops!
balaji raman

Definitely a big improvement. I don't sit here worried about our finishing like I used to week after week last season and the early part of this season. We know we can score - the challenge is to do it consistently. Can't take days off in the final third anymore if we're to make a push for 4th or 5th.

That said, a quarter of this season's goals have come against Norwich!

Doha Red

We've scored only 5 less than Chelsea who scored 8 in one game.
kidmillions

That's down to one man called luis Suarez!

Yes 10 of them were against Norwich, the same Norwich that man united couldn't score 1 against, the leagues top scorers like!

So will both Brendan and Joe.
Allen is a quality player as nobody complained about him until just before Christmas.

Sturridge was always a much better striking option than Walcott and it seems to be showing in the lads first 3 games

As Lfc fans we love good Football and congrats to boys today.But on subject of good football or good sides nice to see good football come out on top against ugly hoof, kick and rush.ie Swansea beat Stoke!

I hit disagree because every team including liverpool has to hoof kick and rush from time to time, except barca. I don't complain when we do it and get3 pts so I usually don't complain when others do it. I do get your point thou, we tend to drop points to those teams as do other top teams. Lately we have smashed those teams except for stoke who are the best at it.

What a lovely and genuine lad Daniel Sturridge is. He comes across as a very humble but confident guys. I genuinely think we have the makings of a world class partnership ind Suarez and Sturridge.

i think Daniel will come of age with our team and show exactly why BR bought him.

great game todays boys and well done to Daniel.

ps thought Jordan had a great game alongside Stevie G too !
Tel 1949

Have to agree tel, no sign of the arrogant guy the media reports himto be

when he plays regularly he scores

could be the signing of the season

henderson looked every inch of ronnie whelan in his primetoday

perhaps that's what dalglish saw in him

tom1975

Without the hairy chest :) of course.

I work at the X factor tanning salon in Melwood and Wesley Sneijder walked in earlier today asking for a back, sack and crack, I had one of our wax technicians take care of him. She said he'd fallen in love with the city already and after sitting down for a delicious toby carvery on the way, he made the decision to sign for lfc.

I seen him he was wearing a LFC kit with number 10 and singing yellow submarine.
Scouse_Pride

A dutch master who would do a good job for us but money talks, its not all about the money its about the price tag

Not a rumour but worth a mention I think, Congratulations to all our lads on a cracking performance against Norwich this evening. Suarez and Sturridge look like they have the makings of a very dangerous partnership at the front, Hendo put in a good performance and Gerrard is as strong as ever! I feel Sturridge's chemestry with Suarez will be a factor in keeping him at Liverpool, but that is just my opinion. Same again next match fellas. Keep up the good work Ed's!

good day today

hard to pick anyone as motm, any of the three midfielders could have gotten it, suarezand sturridge linking well, downing playing well, the defense doing well. mymotm was lucas for the number of telling tackles he made first half.

most pleasing thing was this was the first time this season we didn't look like a one man team, suarez was good but the team was immense.

only disappointment was that borini didn't get a goal, but his time will come.

when we play like that we need not fear anyone in the league. roll on city and arsenal

Sneijder will NOT be joining Liverpool

Jay82

Looks like he's using us as a bargaining tool, he's getting teams to up there offers and see who he can get interested. He wants to stay at inter aswell. Time waster

Games 1-6
LDLDLW = 5 points (1 win)
Games 7-12
DWDDDW = 10 points (2 wins)
Games 13-18
DLWWLW = 10 points (3 wins)
Games 19-24
LWWLW = 9 points (3 wins + 1 game to go)

Obviously a win in the next game will take us to 12 points for that set of six and would be our best set so far. Each set has arguably shown improvement.

Make of it what you will. I just thought it was an interesting way of assessing progress throughout the season. Obviously it is only high level and does not show who you played, disallowed goals, goal difference etc.

Andy K

I think it shows that after games 1-6 we worked on consolidating the team i.e more draws.
Once this happened we have since turned draws to predominantly wins with the odd loss.
personal interpretation...

RobInRed

So in the last 15 games

we have 29 from a possible 45

thats top 4 form
