Burmeister,

You write some strange stuff at times. By all means everyone can question a decision, an approach, a signing. it's the way in which you do it.

You are not objective in any way whatsoever. In fact your comments are derogatory, the example being Comolli being an thicker person than he already is.

That is not putting an opinion across. That is slagging someone off. A big difference. As a fan of the club (a supporter) how can you possibly claim to be when you are so negative and disrespectful? It is this angle of attack that infuriates the majority of supporters on this forum.

If you had possibly stated a concern about Comolli, which many including me, expressed when he was given the job and given some firm examples like his time at Spurs and St.Etienne in particular then you would no doubt had posters sharing their own concerns.

But in your latest post, you blast the club for signing Adam and Henderson first before signing Cissokho, Vargas and Downing. I bet i've had more pi**es today than you've seen Cissokho in games. I've watched him at least ten times over the last four years and he has never impressed me that much in any of the games he played. The same with that other left back from Marseille who went to ACMilan this summer. He was garbage. But he was linked to us by many a fan who said we should sign come what may.

Vargas is a good player but can you really hand on heart say you've seen him enough times to make an informed decision. I haven't so i won't.

But this may surprise you. The club will look at their targets and they will look and they will look. The footballing ability will be found out quickly enough, the in-depth scouting is what the player is like off the pitch. That takes the time. The club takes more time than any one of us on players.

The owners have already confirmed they are genuine, proper owners. They will not splash the cash willy nilly on some fancy foreigner but if the business case is right, they will spend what it takes to bring whoever to the club.

This is where the fans have to trust what the club is doing. They have to trust Dalglish, who is 100% behind all these signings and trust that the club will not be allowing money to go to waste un-necessarily.

It's called decent support. You do not appear to be of that elk. That is why you get so many fans having a pop at you.

There is a way to say what your saying which will actually engage all the fans on here, rather than pi** us right off. If that's your actual aim then you need to go elsewhere. If you genuinely want to contribute, wise up.

Bob the Red

Cheers Bob, top post, and don't worry too much as the real supporters of this club whole-heartedly support what steps are being taken in all aspects of running this amazing club despite the p**s stains of these "fans" that sometimes taint its image, i'm slowly learning to just ignore some of these kn*bheads.

El fuego hermoso.

Eds please do us all a favour and filter out any posts in reference to Aguero. Ever since this forum was created it has been riddled with Aguero rumours constantly every single day.You Eds have posted many times that he will not be coming and there is near enough absolutely no chance of him coming so why do people keep persisitently asking? Im sorry but I cant take it anymore, im close to the edge. {Ed002's Note - How do you think I feel then?}

Bob the Red, another great post mate. Every last word i agreed with. When Bob posts people should read because its always a quality read with no bulls**t and straight to the point. Can i also say that we cant hide Luis away and worry everytime he plays class that his head could be turned because the minortiy of fans who seem to think it will are going to be in for a very stressful season. I'm afraid that to those i say he'll more often then not be one of if not the best player on the park in most of the games we play. We're not run by a pair of f***in mugs anymore, less said about them two turds the better. We're a debt free club with massive commerical deals that you could count on one hand the teams that could match us on em. Suarez wont be going anywhere, because he's ours. We're Liverpool FC of 2011, not 2010, a totally different entity. We dont have to sell to pay for interest payments, we've spent over a 100 mil so far and counting once we shift the unwanted players off the wage bill. Suarez loves being here and we love him being here and re Barcelona, that was a comment attributued to him when he was a young man in Holland fresh over from South America. Times change people move on, Luis has and he's proud to play for us and vice versa. So play your heart out Luis, dont hide in games so you dont get noticed and nobody wants to buy you like some fans seem to suggest might be the only way we can keep you. A minority need to remember why were buying all this young talent and why the transfer policy re age is what it is. To build a great dynasty once more and get back on our perch. We aint gonna do that by selling our best players to our rivals 6 months after buying them, end of f***in story. Jonson6

Just wondering why the odds for aguero joining Liverpool have come in to 3/1 from 10/1 last week? {Ed002's Note - Because people have been placing bets on it happening.}

Regarding Agureo.... please think deeply about this, FSG I understand want a minimum of top four next season (note that is minimum). The following season we (hopefully) will be in the CL... but being in the CL is useless if progression is short lived (i.e. return on investment). Agureo is a world class player, no doubt in my mind, he is also young (which also makes him a financial asset to the club). If we do not sign him in this window and another team does, I feel to get a player of his quality would be difficult in the short term, i.e next summer would be extremely hard. He would, I feel put us in a very good position to achieve above and beyond the minimum required.

I feel alot of the doubters either look in the dark ages 442 and no formation change or have had their views tattooed. Now I come to money, FSG have invested under 50m of their own money on players since their arrival (remember sales). I heard a realistic figure of 50m in Jan. and 80m in the summer to achieve their minimum expectations.

Of course we don't want people in the squad who do not make the cut, especially if they are on high wages, but this should not and cannot distract from the minimum aims this year FSG want, otherwise its unfair on KK.

Regarding Aguero transfer fee and wages ... Real Madrid forecasted that Ronaldo would pay for himself in increased shirt sales and media rights and that fee was reported around £80m. To say we do not have the financial muscle to buy this player is utter sh&e. I feel it is down to 1. Whether KK wants him or not and 2. What offers are given to the player (they will not all be about money). I for one would love to see him at our club, play 433 and carroll and suarez also play and i strong feel this sort of team could give Barca. a run for their money....unlike you know who.
K79 {Ed002's Note - Liverpool do not get the money for each shirt sold. Liverpool are not in a position, like other clubs, to match the £152k after tax wages being offered by Manchester City. Liverpool are not currently showing any interest in the player. Liverpool do not have the £40M needed to buy the player at this time.}

looks like Fabio aurelio is remaining at the club after this statement from Doni.

"I am looking forward to
playing for the Liverpool fans
and it will help I will have my
fellow Brazilians Lucas and
Fabio Aurelio there to help me
settle in and I promise to do
my best for the club."

there is to many on here that read to much into what the press says about whos coming and going. i for one dont think aqua is going anywhere. ive not herd kk or dc say anything in regards to aqua going anywhere. we do not want to be letting a player like that to leave. i know the eds and others say he wants to go home but he has also said he is happy to stay here and play for lfc.

20 Jul 2011 20:44:35
if aquilani continues to play like this kenny jus might jus keep him if he is up for staying not a rumour or anything but he s really proving his worth

I would love Aguero at Liverpoo Me too, as we know Argentinians are so loyal I wo
--------

Are you really suggesting english players are any more loyal?

owen is english and didn't think about stabbing us in the back...twice. first by refusing to sign and trying to go on a bosman then signing for united.

NO players are loyal, given the correct circumstance they would all leave. Don't hold that against them though how many people on this site would swap jobs for what they perceived to be a better one?

Loyalty is important but id take effort and teamwork while at the club over loyalty any day.

Mr E {Ed002's Note - I think he was being sarcastic.}

20 Jul 2011 20:22:01
Eds, could you explain why so many of the contributors to this site are so sure Raul Meireles will be moved on this summer? I thought he made an excellent contribution in the final third of the season and Kenny obviously gets the best out of him. He fits our criteria - young, has sell on value, etc, and is a very good player - of superior quality to the vast majority of players we are supposedly tracking. Is there a problem with the player that we don't know about as I would like to see him improve as a Liverpool player next season? {Ed002's Note - There is a well publicised issue with the player over promises made by the previous regime which have not been met. It is simply a matter of money.}

20 Jul 2011 20:13:40
please for the love of god would people stop saying keep aqualani he is an absolute disgrace and is not fit to wear the red shirt a player who feigns injury to get out of training and has also stated quite clearly he does not want to play for us why would anybody want him at our great club.
but he looked good in asia you may say yes he is making a bit of an effort to try and get a move to italy worst ever liverpool player rather have sean dundee

Hi Guys,

Heard that citeh have come out and said unless they get rid of tevez there not bidding for aguero? and seen as it looks like madrid are going after neymar, who else are interested? chelski and juve? he already spoke of his desire to play in England or spain so that cud leave us if there's any interest and chelski? so i wouldn't entirely say we have NO chance of signing him but we'll have to see. hopefully Henry splashes the cash :D

great site eds.

Thanks

RobLFC {Ed002's Note - Don't count Manchester City out. Don't count Real Madid or Chelsea out. Don't be surprised to see late bidders. Don't hold your breath over a move to Liverpool.}

=======================================================================================

he's a liverpool fan anyway, so why would he move to these lot? as I recall he rejected terms with chelsea, he explicitly said in his book he is a liverpool and ac milan fan, and what a betrayal to atletico if he moves to rivals real madrid, I think it's wrong to assume that he's even leaving??

{Ed002's Note - He is certainly leaving Atletico Madrid - there is no question of that at all.}

Man city rumours page thinks they are gonna buy suarez for 60 million to replace tevez Someone needs to tell mancini to wake up coz that will never happen................ i hope. YNWA

20 Jul 2011 19:46:39
to all mancs, gooners, bluenoses. firstly utd have gone backwards not forwards. jones wont get in the team. de gea is inexperienced. and young will struggle to get in the team not bad for 45 mill. meanwhile van der sar, neville, scholes, o shea, brown have gone. thats 3 not going to make a difference players in, 5 out squad depth is thinner.
arsenal wont win anything again they will continue to play pretty football without fabregas and nasri and replace them with nobody's.

everton will be stuck behind us for years to come as they are completely skint.

ahh i love this utd going backwards. arsenal in decline and we shall replace them in top 4. and everton stuck behind. ah roll on next season

We have offically entered the mid window lull... expect the unexpected.... until a left back signs end of next week.

I have just been on the man city page and I feel like i'm reading the shortlist on a kids fifa manager mode. It is ridiculous.

20 Jul 2011 19:02:10
i dont think left back is top off the list- aureilo is for me first choice when fit and robinson and flano cover its works well as youth will get games as he will be injured but not too many games that they will get burnt out- aurielo has a LEATHAL left peg and willl provide countless pin point crosses when fit. he will provide the perfect timeline for robinson to progress to be first choice.

Can all the deluded fans stop the aguero rumours now. Man City are negotiating a deal now ( News). The eds have been right so far with their info so, why do people keep regurgitating the same stories that are nonsense? It really is annoying

man city signing aguero, not that i thought we would ever sign him, plus suarez is twice the player n works harder for the team, think we should bring through morgan suso etc , if your good enough your old enough, probably give wolfsburg jovanovic pacheco n poulsen for diego, lil bit of magic to top it all and we would win the lge

Face it haters you can say what you like about gerrard, but even if he had his leg chopped off he would still play, and he'd play much better then your below avarage players

20 Jul 2011 17:45:49
Aguero to City for 38m. hurry up & make it official. I don't want him at Liverpool. I hope Gerrard recovers soon. We haven't had a chance to see how well he will do linking up with Suarez. The players that were bought in (Henderson & Downing) were both in the top 4 in the league for supplying goal scoring opportunities. We have width now. You can see that Adam has the right idea if you look at our preseason games so far. But people still want light weight Aguero. You guys can't see that City are in the business of wasting money. Why did Argentina only win 1 game in the Copa America when they have a team full of the best players in the world. Suarez is a provider and a scorer. All this service coming Carrolls way plus Gerrards impact. Teres no reason why he can't get 20 goals. He got close last year with less service. YNWA all day, all the way, Okaaay

Hi eds, not a rumour but just taught I'd let everybody know, I dj'd at the leaving party for alex o'hanlon last Thursday night and can tell you all that he is a genuinely nice down to earth young man. He is by now training with his new colleauges and I hope he does well. Not a rumour but had to let you all know how nice a guy he is.

20 Jul 2011 17:13:52
Hi guys
I believe that we are there in terms of incoming , but we do definitely need a mobile strong CB
Everyone else is right for the exit door from the usual suspects:
Jovanovic
Paulsen
Deggen
Aquilani
Shelvey
Cole
Ell-Zhar

I would personally keep Meireles unless a double figure offer comes knocking.

If loans lower the wage bill then loan any of the above

hi eds do you think that we will put a offer in for sergio aguero or any other big names ? also do you know of any other signings that we are looking to make? {Ed002's Note - Please spend some time reading the other posts.}

20 Jul 2011 17:05:19
I watched an interview with Suarez not long ago on sly sports prem round up or something like that. It nearly brought a tear to my eye the way he spoke about Liverpool. It was from the heart and he said he used to play as Liverpool on the playstation biggest club in England and one of one of the biggest in the world.He also described how his brothers cant belive he's playing for such a club as prestigious club as Liverpool FC. Nothing lasts for ever in football, Sanchez has already proved City's money cant buy everyone. I wouldn't worry about Luis even thinking about leaving us the way he's hero worshipped. Fully deserved as well, not only the sublime skill, trickery, creativity and goal scoring prowess.But also his work rate, will to win and never say die attitude. I think he loves it here, i say this because i dont think he'd have settled as quick and performed as he has done so far he didn't. If it aint broke Luis dont try and fix it, i'm 100% sure he wont even think about it. Jonson6

20 Jul 2011 16:57:01
No one should get excited about this new mexican wonder kid, he'll go down the same route as the rest of the foreign young talent at the club, never be given a game and sit in the reserves (pacheco, suso, ayala, mavinga, bruna etc). Lets face it the only youngsters that are given a chance are the british ones of whom only only one has performed well (kelly), I personally think this is ridiculous. Pacheco is our best younster by far and yet last season he was given one half of europa league and that was it where as Shelvey played many games and didnt perform well in a majority of them.

20 Jul 2011 16:51:38
Should we not offer Poulsen to WBA, Mr Hodgson thought so much of him maybe he might feel he could improve their team, he would probably do quite well in a mediocre mid table team, just a thought Roll on the start of next season, i'm very happy with our current signings, hopefully a couple more additions after shifting the surplus to requirement players YNWA

LFC really need to sell few deadwoods..
Jovanovic leave for free, degen leave been released.
How about elzhar, soto, insua. Anyone interested in elzhar? What about soto? Roma interested in insua but they already sign jose angel.

Aquilani is quality player i dont want him to leave. But is he really want to play in Italy? KD seems to like him plus he still got good passing ability n creative..

DrfedLFC {Ed002's Note - Just to try and put some of this in perspective - Jovanovic leaving for free will cost Liverpool more than £1M in cash to compensate him for the remainder of his signing on fee. Degen being released will cost in excess of £3M in wages unless he lower amount could be negotiated. Releasing El Zhar would be a further hit of £1.5M and so on. Roma are interested in Insua regardless of signing Angel. Aquilani is most likley to move to Fiorentina if they can resolve the issue surrounding his wages.}

Fed up with those who slag off Spearing. He is a local lad, was captain of our reserves but was never given a break by the previous management. He has persevered, broke into the team last season and was a very useful squad and team member when used by KK. If you care to watch him closely you will see that he works tirelessly and has a lot more quality on the ball than many give him credit. He can also pick a pass particularly in the last third of the pitch. I am not saying he will always be in the starting 11, but he most definitely deserves to be a squad player who KK can rely on to give 100% as and when he is called upon. Reality Red

ed001, here is a question for you, if i remember rightly you saw robbie fowler during his younger days and if im correct you said he stood out like a sore thumb, no questions he wasn't going to make it, a born footballer, unfortunately i was a little too young to realise how much of a special player he was during his early years with rush. the question is do any players in our current side have the same sort of aura about them? morgan strikes me as an example just for his sheer finesse in front of goal, but i would love your opionion on the subject, i know its no sign of a guarantee when a player stands out, rodwell if im correct was the talk of the town, but hes gone a little stale of late anyway i understand if you don't have the time to answer, would be nice to have your thoughts, your clearly liverpool through and through. cheers

red danger {Ed001's Note - no one quite stands out like Robbie did, but the general standard of youth player is much higher technically now so it is more difficult. Suso, Coady, Sterling and Morgan all stand out as real talents that can make it, but they are playing amongst a great crop of youngsters and so they would have to be Messi-like to stand out like that. As for Rodwell, that is down to Everton's misuse of him, and other youngsters that have broken through, they train them like they are adults and it results in numerous injuries. All those niggles affect their form and confidence. James Vaughan being a case in point, he had so much potential destroyed through recurring injuries caused by poor training methods.}

I'm in thmiddle of Brian Reade's Epic Swindle and have just had another shiver. Where is out money coming from for these transfers. Is there anything public on the money front from the club to show loans aren't taken against the club again?
If it's been discussed before then I apologise but just wondered if we are being lead blindly again.

burmeister, you plastic armchair waving excuse for a fan. who are you to judge whether or not kenny has brought in the right players? i suppose through your extensive knowledge of our academy and first team squad you are in a better position to see what positions need to be addressed? how many hours have you spent watching the team train, if you even had half an ounce of knowledge of football you will know the basic creed that is the BALL travels faster than a player ever could. why not stick henderson on the wing, a player with a cultured right foot, a fine piece of vision and a player who created 133 goalscoring chances last season as well as countless assists. stick downing on the left with a midfield 3 of gerrard and adam and lucas and there is a technically fine tuned midfield adept at getting the best out of carroll and suarez. your the sort of t**t who would write of an antique for not being decorative enough, flair wins the MOTD fans but give me a cultured blend of players suited to pass and move and this will gain results. flood the team with potential johnny foreigners who may not adapt, we then drop further back from the top four, big players would want to leave and no CL football on the horizen, but its alright, i suppose you could watch a youtube video of a distictly average player with flair and pace (jeffren) and demand there inclusion, your deluded mate, if im not mistaken since kenny took over our defence was the second best in the league with a plethora of clean sheets, yes a left back could be needed but if robinson keeps progressing and johnson can fill in adequatly i see no issue. trust what kenny is doing , hes built teams before and he will do it again, what kenny forgets in a day is worth all your footballing knoledge and reason, i used to respect your views but its clear youve had one too many shandies and are on the lairy razz. idiot

Ed lots of reliable people saying we need to sell to buy. This is in order to lower the wage bill. It is not that if they get 10m then we have 10m to spend as we have money anyway. It is if say we clear all the deadwood the owners may give kenny a lot more money say 40/50m to spend even if we only raised 30m from sales. Just wondered what you thought ed? {Ed002's Note - You need to read the other posts but the owners are not going to throw large sums of money around just for the sake of it.}

suarez is on form at the world cup, just scored two goals to lead uraguay to the finals. cant wait till the new season

20 Jul 2011 15:29:07
Apparently 4 of LFC"s top stars will miss some opening fixtures of coming new season & they are:
* Steven Gerrard (recovering & rehabilitating from surgery - is expected to miss both Sunderland & Arsenal Game).
* Pepe Reina (recovering & rehabilitating from surgery - is expected to miss both Sunderland & Arsenal Game).
* Luis Suarez (Prolong vacation due to the participation of Copa America 2011 - is expected to miss both Sunderland & Arsenal Game).
* Lucas Leiva (Prolong vacation due to the participation of Copa America 2011 - is expected to miss only Sunderland Game).

There is always a chance that my predictions might come wrong but i am pretty sure about it.
But LFC will be able to cope with out them.

YNWA Fellow Reds.

One thing I can tell you for sure....I'M BLOODY EXCITED FOR THIS SEASON

20 Jul 2011 15:17:40
Cannot understand the concerns about suarez not being available for sunderland match. He is playing well, scoring goals, two weeks off away from football and he should be raring to go. It's not like he is coming back from injury and his fitness levels are poor, I expect him to start our first match, a fast start is essential.

I ve just been talking to some people in work then and if you think about, currently, what squads the top teams in the Premiership have we are up there with one of the best and one of the best for years to come:

GK Reina/Doni Both class keepers, Reina one of the best in the world and Doni an international keeper

RB Kelly/Johnson/Flanagan A mixture of youth, pace, attacking quality and in Kelly and Flanagan players who can defend
CB Agger/Skrtel/Carragher/Krygiakos/Kelly In Agger and Skrtel we have potentially one of the best partnerships in the league. Carragher is Mr. Reliable and Kelly and Kyrgiakos are decent back-ups in the event of a crisis
LB Robinson/Johnson/Flanagan/Aurelio Same as right back really, with cover in case of an injury. One of the areas we need strengthening in January or next summer

RM Henderson/Kuyt/Maxi/Cole Competent cover in the shape of Kuyt and Maxi and if Cole gets fit again then he will be able to play a role but I would imagine Henderson to play predominantly down the right to make use of his delivery
CM Gerrard/Lucas/Adam/Mereiles/Aquilani/Spearing/Henderson One area where we don t need any more investment as we seem to be sorted for years to come. Maybe if Gerrard fails to regain fitness again this season we may see another midfielder brought in but I think we will see the likes of Coady coming through in cup games
LM Downing/Maxi/Cole/Aurelio This area could do with another player to provide proper competition for Downing but I think that will come next summer along with another right winger. If Downing plays well I think we could be dangerous down the left.

ST Suarez/Carroll/Kuyt/N Gog With Suarez and Carroll we have one of the best (potentially) strike forces in the league. If they hit it off then they will be scary Kuyt has already shown he can play up front with Suarez so I can imagine him getting some time up there. N Gog is N Gog.

Throw in some of the young lads coming through and I think we are very capable of challenging for at least one trophy. The likes of Kelly, Flanagan, Robinson, Wisdom (a whole back 4 there) and Suso, Coady, Sterling and Morgan getting some games will only benefit us in the long run. It s an exciting time I think for this club.

What's worrying is that KK has said players have to be sold in order to finance further recruitment Well justly so I'm all for dropping the wage bill down and shifting dead wood esp players getting paid wages But what's worrying me is how much did NSV invest of their own money into player transfers itself and not the buy out of the club. Ok total spent so far under NSV is approximately 107mil. Players sold to date 58 mil dts a dift of 49mil. Ok that's fair enough but its not there personal money. We get 20mil a year from Standard Chartered bank and now 25mil from Warrior sports so dts makes up 45 mil of the 48 spent So in reality did NSV only spend 4 mil on player recruitment from the time they took over
r and now using the player sales as player recruitment income? I hope not And yes I do no that sponsorships do also go to player wages and ground up keeping. But I'm sure we do have much more sponsors to take care of that aspect. I hope do hope NSV give KK a bit more money from der own side to strengthen our time even if its 20mil. That's not a lot to ask for to make sure we qualify for champions league n re-coup the money from there. Bill from South Africa {Ed002's Note - Bill, the Warrior money does not appear until next season and is about £13M in addition to what is provided now by Adidas. You cannot however compartmentalize the money Liverpool receive so easily. The club is running at a loss and is having to contend with a major hit for having no Champions League football last year and no European football at all this year. The owners are taking a responsible approach and looking to clear out some of the fringe players and that will give them a much better understanding of what the running costs for the playing staff will be next season. In order to move some of those fringe players on it will be necessary to take some tough decisions that will cost the club hard cash. It would be naive to think that the owners are just going to throw vast amounts of cash at the team - it was never going to happen. They have been and will continue to be supportive of the management team, but that does not extend to making "marquee" signings to make a "statement of intent" as some folks seem to expect.}

20 Jul 2011 14:46:14
{Ed009's Note - Poulsen wants to remain at the club and "fight for his pay"... I mean place, sorry. It remains to be seen what the resolution to that will be.}

LOL- Poulsen fighting for his place, are you kidding me, is this guy really had a place in LFC squad. No way he must leave no more excuses, just not good enough, useless, crap, just wants his pay-day.

HEY, KING KENNY GET THIS SH.T EXCESS BAGGAGE OUT OF LFC

20 Jul 2011 14:46:03
It truley amazes me, the priorities of some of these so called professional footballers.
It is widley known that under the Hodgson regiem, as well as partly Rafa's, Liverpool brought in many substandard players on vastly overinflated wages (Jovanovic, El Zhar, Cole, Degen, Poulsen....).
What amazes me is that these players would seemingly rather 'fight' for their place in a team that clearly has no need for them, than move on to a club that would genuinely appreciate the players addition, giving them a great deal more playing time in the game they apparently love.
Almost every player who is touted as being 'deadwood', or on the 'chopping block' are apparently experts at dodging the 'chop' due to wage demands.
I wish theses players would have as much desire to play on a regular basis, than to count the zeros on their pay check.
Take a pay cut, and f&*k off.
You are giving the profession a bad name.

The Insane {Ed002's Note - I love the way some Liverpool fans care for their players "Take a pay cut, and f&*k off".}

20 Jul 2011 14:29:53
I think I now appreciate the grief that Ed002 has to deal with here.
When you express a view that people don't want to hear, you're enemy no. 1, or some traitor.

A poster, "always a red", in reply to my post, dismisses yours truly as a "Manc" for talking about Kenny "in a way that no LFC fan does".

I presume that that "way" was by daring to criticise Dalglish.
What? Is it a wrong thing to say that Kenny has made a cock-up of something?
Is it wrong to say: "I blame Kenny"?

Oh just get a grip, people, will ye?
This is a forum for airing views, and air my views I will.
Whether they're for or against Kenny, it don't matter.
I'm not going to suck up to anyone, or show blind faith.

I stand by my view that Adam and Henderson weren't essential signings.
If we had money to burn, then I wouldn't have had any problem with us prioritising the aforementioned players.

But we don't. To a fairly large extent, we've to sell to buy. We're basically limited financially.
In such a situation, logic dictates that we first take care of the urgent needs, e.g, centre back, left back, another wing.

Only after we've filled those gaps do we look to add strength-in depth by bringing in players like Adam and Henderson, or their alternatives.
This would more or less be funded by the proceeds from sales.

E.g sort out Godin, Cissokho and Vargas in addition to Downing, first.
Thereafter we look to the Adams, Hendersons etc to really strengthen the squad as we gradually ship out the deadwood.

The way we've gone about things has left me less than impressed.
If you've a problem with that, ye can suck it, suck it, and suck it again.

By the way, ed, what's the latest regarding the stadium issue?

Burmeister {Ed002's Note - I don't know if anything has been decided beyond the recent statement. Any actual work starting would have to be subject to planning approval. I am sure that efforts will still be made to figure out a solution at Anfield in the first instance.}

Rumour has it that Gerrard is struggling to get over the groin injury and that is why he is not involved in the recent training pics.

However it was stated recently that the groin had healed and, according to the specialists, was in better shape than it had been in the last ten years.

It is now a distinct possibility that he is in fact off this summer.

Just a thought.

1. No way Spurs are selling Bale, unless it's for silly money 2. Kenny doesn't need to "please fans with 'marquee' signing", most fans are happy already, and would like a centre half and left back rather than another attacking midfielder.

20 Jul 2011 14:06:51
We knew Suarez was going to be playing in the Copa America wid we signed him after the World Cup he had performance wise. Dont see how its such a big suprise and that people are moaning about him being f***ed when he gets back. If their's one player who'd do everything in his power to play as soon as Liverpool will select him when he comes back its Luis. We support England in Euro's but think that the South Americans should turn their back on their country when they're as patriotic as anyone. I know we pay his wages but he loves playing for his country and you can count on it happening in the next Copa, so we better get used to it. Still think he'll make the bench at least for the Sunderland match if he has any say on it. Weather the club think its a good idea is a different matter.Jonson6

Just some info on Gerrard, was on the radio in Ireland yesterday that he was seen at Cork airport on the way to golf break for a couple of days ( Fota Island, the same hotel as Birmingham stayed last week before they palyed Cork City)...with the rumours on here regarding the condition of his groin I doubt if it was as bad as is made out would the club let him anywhere near a golf course...

20 Jul 2011 13:50:11
KING KENNY please keep Aqualani think he will be a real player for us this year i know mierales was good last year but we should let him go don't waste money on a left back we've enough cover there would love to see Adam Johnson arrive if we got him and possibly Scott Dann or Cahill i think we can be real contenders

20 Jul 2011 13:39:08
Why the issues about us looking to sell people before we buy again? I would have issues if this was the case at the start of the transfer window and we had not signed anyone yet, but we have spent £50m on Henderson, Adam, Doni and Downing.

Whilst Aquilani's performances in Asia were promising, you have to look at the quality of oppostion, he would never so much time on the ball in the Premiership. He is clearly talented but would not be a 1st choice player and if we can recoup £10-12m and get £80,000/week of the wage bill it frees up funds for another signing for a position that needs strengthening, Aly Cissokho perhaps? Remember last year, Aquilani wanted to leave, his agent has pimped him out to every Italian team around but couldn't do a deal.

We have a lot players at the club who collectively have massive wages, and will not get games - Jovanovic, Degen, El Zhar, Poulsen, and the rest. It makes sense to try and spend money better, by replacing these players with players who will at least challenge for 1st team places.

Ed why has the agree/disagree buttons been taken away from individual replies?. I quite liked it personally.

So much for Liverpool keeping things behind closed doors and then saying that we need to sell before we can buy anyone else. Why do DC/KK need to say this? We all know that the deadwood need to be shipped out but don't tell the world. We will now get tied up with trying to get £500k more for a crap player so it can go into our fund. Make it easy for them to go, knock their pay off from the transfer fee and call it quits with them. We would probably get £15-20m and save £400-500k in wages. I'll take them wherever they want to go in my van with all there family and furniture for free if they want just hurry up and ship them off-- Finisher

20 Jul 2011 13:06:27
Huge wages are being wasted on players who we do not need. There are essentially two categories for such players, Those players who offer no meaningful contribution and those players who might but whose wages are too high when compared to the contribution they can make. In the first category are Jovanovic (£100k), Degen (£45k), El Zahar (£30k), Poulsen (£50k) and Insua (£25k). Between them £250k a week is estimated as being earned in wages. It is essential that we try and move them all on this summer. Jovanovic is likely to go back to Belgium. Poulsen would have suitors should he chose not to sit and receive his pay packet. However the likes of Insua, Degen and El Zahar will be harder to shift as no one will be willing to pay them anywhere near what they are currently on. In the second category we have an estimated further £250k a week being spent on Ngog (£35k) Meireless (£55k), Aquilani (70k) and Cole (90k). Save for Ngog their wages are extremely high given that none of them can be said with any likelihood to be first choice players for the coming season. This is less than ideal. The priority has got to be getting rid of those players in the first category. Its doable but not easy. Reality Red

20 Jul 2011 12:58:33
Kenny Dalglish has made it clear that we must sell before we buy any more players.
When you add up the wages of players that are simply fringe players its shocking.
Finances can be secured for new transfers by selling players.
Brad Jones - Released - -£30,000
Emiliano Insua - 5m - -40,000
Sotirios Krygiakos - 2m - -40,000
Phillip Degen - Released - -30,000
Maxi Rodriguez - 5m - -60,000
Alberto Aqualiani - 12m - -70,000
Christian Poulsen - -2.5m - -50,000
Joe Cole - 5m - -60,000
Nabil El Zhar - 2m - -30,000
Milan Jovanovic - Released - -50,000
David Ngog - 6m - -40,000

Total from sales - 39.5m
Total saved from wages per year - 6m
That means instantly (provinding me sell all players and my figures are accurate) first year savings would be 45.5m, this does not include the savings from contracts which may have up to 4 yrs.
If this was to be reinvested i would personally do the following;
Aly Cissokho - 9m - 600,000 p/y (50,000 p/w) wages
Scott Dann - 10m - 420,000 p/y (35,000 p/w) wages
Alex Oxlade Chamberlain - 10m - 180,000 p/y (15,000 p/w) wages
Total Expenditure p/y - 30.2m
Total remaining - 15.3m
This would leave approximately 15.3m form the year, therefore this could be invested into the 'marquee' signing people keep speculating about.
I hope that helps clear up why we must sell before we buy.
Thanks YNWA

all this talk of gerrard being injured until sep or whenever is crap. no one can be sure 100% who were signing and who will be departing, all who are saying tht aquilani will be leaving and miereles i dnt want them to leave aqua has been outstanding in seira A and in pre-season so far and miereles was awsome last seson 4 lfc, also i believe we do need a left bck but i do see potential in insua hes really grown up in the last year while hes been at galatasary also y should cole go just becoz he has a season to forget he MUST go thats crap
the players i would want to see in a lfc shirt nxt season enriquie, jarvis and defoe and the players tht i would want to leave is degen, el zhar, ngog also the players who should go on loan hansen, wilson, spearing pacheco

20 Jul 2011 12:15:48
LFC will make one surprise big name signing before the season starts. FSG know that they need to increase the clubs world wide appeal in order to boost revenue. They need a new LFC "poster boy" to market the club, capture new fans and sell huge amounts of shirts world wide (we lost this when Torres left). None of the new players signed to date, including Luis and Andy, fit this bill

Hence the attempts for Aguero - but it's not easy when competing against Barca, Real, Manc clubs and Chelsea money wise ... and offering CL

But they WILL land one surprise big name player - just not sure who Higuain is last resort.

Money is available for this The talk of late about selling etc is an attempt to keep prices down

Hey Ed(s) and fellow reds,
Just want to have my take on this Marco Bueno guy, he's top class and was one of Mexico's best players at the U17's World Cup but don't expect him to be an instant success. He is only 17 so don't expect to see much of him next season (Hernandez was 21 or 22 starting his Prem career). I think he may be as good as Hernandez (maybe even better) when he is ready for the Prem.
Thanks,
Adam O'K ;) YNWA

So we prioritised Adam and Henderson (non-essential areas) in the opening weeks of the window and now it emerges that we have to "sell to buy".
This only reinforces my much-reviled view last night that Comolli and Dalglish have made an utter cock-up of in the market thus far.

Why oh why would we rush to buy non-essentials when we know that we're financially limited?
Wouldn't it have made sense to have bought, in addition to Downing, another winger, a left back and a centre back first?

Thereafter, put the sales proceeds towards non-essentials like Adam and Henderson.
If too late for them, no problem.
There are a million other (better options).

Now we're (stupidly) at a position where we have to ship out the deadwood to fund further additions.
This is risky practise in that, while we're trying to ship out redundancies, our targets, the essential ones, will likely slip away.

Shocking, absolutely shocking
I appreciate that we're relatively skint.
I don't fault FSG one iota for any of this.
The blame lies squarely at the feet of Comolli and Dalglish.

In Adam and Henderson, they blew circa £25m on players that weren't necessities.
They put the cart before the horse.
Adam and Henderson (or their alternatives) could've been funded by proceeds from sales at a later time after the main business had been done (centre back, left back and both wings).

Seriously, I'm appalled. As at 20 July 2011, we have:

1.No consistently fit and excellent centre back
2. No consistently fit and excellent left back
3. Only one decent winger
4. No genuine attacker with the trickery/magic element a la Suarez
5. in addition to the other six, added two more central midfielders who, all circumstances considered, are non-essentials

Yet, we're told that our "main business is done". Smh.
So buying one winger and two cm who're more or less destined for roles of squad players is our "main business", huh?
This despite the fact that we haven't a fit and consistently excellent left back and centre back and no other magic outlet other than Suarez?

To top it off, some are (quite unbelievably) hailing this summer as a success thus far.
Appalling. LFC fans "most knowledgeable" in the world? Yeah, right.

ive seen on the LFC website that KK wont be buying anymore players unless some of the deadwood get sold, wasted 20mil on Henderson and we could of got Cissokho for 9mil. wasting lots of money on average players, KK hasnt got the control of that money. 35mil for Carroll, come on, we now must be known as the team who will buy any player if you name ANY price.

20 Jul 2011 11:05:11
A few days ago I backed up macca, but it did not get posted, please post this for all the macca doubters:

Today KK has pretty much confirmed what Macca said in his last post "remaining transfers will now be down to deadwood clearing out etc etc"

So all the negative take him off the web site etc, give him a break, he is getting things right most of the time and before many of us.

He does not claim to be the "oracle" but he gives good info, dont see why he gets slammed everytime he gets it slightly wrong

Dont stop posting mate

eds, i have just read kk says we need to sell before we can buy. if thats the case and we need a cb and an lb then surely that would end all speculation of aguero or any marquee signing doesnt it?
billy {Ed002's Note - I would not not necessarily say that although I think this concept of a "marquee" signing has been rather overplayed. It is critical that the fringe players are now moved on by whatever means best suits the club and whatever means have the least adverse financial impact on the business. I am sure that thoughts have not moved away from those players that are still targets, but time has come to deal with those who have no future at Liverpool.}

Ed any idea wat other youngster we could be looking at.....any names u can throw tht we could sign....

There's a few Red for Life:

'Nacho' and Bijev who are on trial (Will Probably Sign Them)

Pelosi from US
Cotan from Spain

Also the one i want to happen is Alex Chamberlin, we should offer Ince, Amoo and Eccleston and 7m

Imagine This.....

Shelvey-Coady
Sterling-Suso-Chamberlin

Hi ED.

Do you have any ideas where the Stevie. G. Rumours have cmae from? If he was having problems, surely the club would keep fans informed and certainly no mislead us into thinking he was doing well. Stevie. G. himself quoted "this is the best i've felt in years"
I must admit i am a tiny bit concerned but not to worried. I personally think he can still be a very influential player for us. Well that's an understatement actually, he is still our best player. Anyway these rumours have a Manc or Blue nose origin about them.

My prediction is we will see Godin in a Red shirt come the start of the season alon with Dann.

Red Oracle. {Ed002's Note - I have no idea where the rumours come from.}

20 Jul 2011 10:06:42
Ed all summer everyone has spoken about getting at least two wingers/inside fowards. We have bought downing and i know henderson can play as a winger but i think he has been bought for cm instead of them buying james mccarthy. Now everyone says we won't buy another attacking player and everyone laughs at rumours about aguero when even guillium balague confirmed we have been interested since the jan window. I know aguero is extremely unlikely but i think there are other more realistic targets such as lavezzi or cavani etc. I think we need another attacker and i hope if we ship out the deadwood we will see a top class one come in, after all comolli did say that we could break the transfer record again and we would never do that by targetting players like downing. Just wondered your thoughts ed? {Ed002's Note - I don't recall Comolli saying that Liverpool would break the transfer record again and you must be aware that a great deal of money has already been spent. I am sure one or two more players will be arriving though.}

20 Jul 2011 10:02:28
Ed with the talk of sell to buy do you think that is partly a ploy for clubs to lower their prices and to lower fan expectations? I know we have to clear the wagebill but i don't think that we literally need the money from the sales to fund other transfers I just think we don't want to buy people and then find we can't shipout deadwood and then we are left with a overfull squad. Just wondered what you thought ed? {Ed002's Note - It is not a ploy or a smokescreen - the club really need to move the fringe players on.}

Corinthians have pulled out of the Teves deal, and will turn there attention on Saurez, expect a bid in either this transfer window or in the winter window.

Hi all, i would like to elaborate on the stevie g groin rumours, i got back from holidayon monday where i had the pleasure of a few drinks with some 'in the know' scousers, their was four of them, and they have all put £200 quid at 150-1 that gerrard plays less than 7 games this season. Apparently his missus alex has been shouting her mouth off about his groins saying he will be retired by october, this is 100% true, another quick one, apparently dan agger spends more time in carras boozer than he does training hence why he is always injured also told the truth on all the other gerrard rumours.........you know the ones

I remember posting on here, shortly after the Barcelona Rumours page was introduced, that it would be 6 x months before Suarez' name was on there

City and Madrid battling it out for Aguero. Expect whoever loses to turn their attention to Suarez who has become the most talked about player at the Copa America. Bad news but we might have to fend off a 40 million pound bid before the window shuts. Just hope Luis' head isn't turned.

city agreed fee of 38 million for aguero according to daily mail, i for one dont think hes worth anywhere near that valuation , whats your thoughts ed cheers keep up the good work , jeffo {Ed009's Note - I am not sure he has proven himself to the extent to be worth that price tag and inevitable wage package. Then again for a City signing, its cheap.}

Watch tonights Copa America match as a soon-to-be Liverpool signing will be playing. (Hint: he isn't on Suarez's team and enjoys playing on the left)

This is not a rumour, just an observation. Think we should brace ourselves for a HUGE bid for Suarez at some point very soon....absolutely immense for Uruguay last night/this morning.....the guy is unreal
We should cut Carroll some slack (i personally think he's going to be awesome) and see the fee of £57 million for the 2 of them as exactly that....a fee for the 2 of them. At the moment Little Luis is worth £40-£45 million easily, so i guess that makes Carroll's fee around £12 million.....bargain
Seriously, fair play to DC and KK for a superb bit of business

I think the words "Marquee Signing" and "Smokescreen" should be banned from the site...most of the people on here have been reading too many tabloids and playing too much Football Manager....personally I expect one more signing a LB (Maybe Enrique) and a few players sold from our over crowded midfield

20 Jul 2011 06:54:38
Re: Aguero
There is no chance of him coming to LFC, no matter how much we all want it. The guy, if he moves, would be one of the top paid players on the planet, which in itself may not be a massive issue, but it's more of the knock-on effect for the rest of the squad, where I can't see Gerrard, Suarez, Reina etc being very happy at being so far behind the top earner. It's all a balancing act, between success, having the right players and balancing the books, hence why unfortunatley at City he'd fit right in with virtually all their over paid, over hyped players.

Like Ed and Macca have siad, wev'e bought relativly big for our budget so far, however for more to come, (I suspect unless an unmissable player becomes available), then we will be working far harder on selling and loaning now.

For the people slating macca, if he talks sh*t why oh why do u carry on reading his posts??

Do everyone a favour and complain somewhere else, I personally dont want to see one red slagging off another red.

Its called a RUMOURS page for a reason.

Keep it up macca lad, i think ya boss mate.

Anyways, as ive mentioned in earlier posts i speak to a guy who works for lfc tv, kind of informed me in the morning about the downing deal and told me doni agreed terms.

i asked him about Aly Cissoko and he said he doesnt think were actually in for him, (also said it would be great to get him) take this how you like, as he cant give to much away. Im taking it as, we will prob make a bid, but if they ask for more, we will tell them where to go.

I really hope you're right mate, he's had good preperation too as he's having a brilliant tournament, that elbow on the scottish kid was a bit sour but nobody was hurt. Guerrero also had a great tournament. Oh and Alberto Rodriguez, all good players but of course the man you mentioned is the cream of the crop.

Hi Eds Just like every Lfc fan, I want to see our team be lifting the Premier league at the end of the season. but for that to happen, shouldn't we be having a regular and experienced/proven left back (like Cissokho) to achieve that? instead of making Glen play out of position. I know he has done fantastically well for us but still for a team like Lfc who will fight for the title, isn't it a must to fill that position? and to get a good centre back (like Dann) as Jamie is no longer as he was 3-4 yrs ago. thx Eds.

Random question, but how much do you think a backup striker like obafemi martins would cost? Still very fast and dangerous... at least more so than ngog... {Ed009's Note - Martin's is nowhere near good enough I am afraid. Probably around 5 million.}

is this Marco Bueno talk for real, if it is i'd be very happy, after watching the u17 world cup and the way Mexico played, i'd be happy to see ANY of those players here, especially this lad, he played every match and scored a goal or 2 i think, should be a very good prospect and i'd love to see him sign... fingers crossed

Would he really tell you if he was leaving?

Plus who would take him? he has to have a good season before he can get a good move away. He failed at Atletico Madrid, he hardly started for us in 2years.He needs a good season

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Failed at atletico?
who is this guy?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He did well towards the end last year. How dare ou say he played rubbish for Atletico. He was the captain a bit. Thats why hes had multiple matches for Argentina, playing alongside Lionel Messi, Tevez, Aguero and others. So learn your facts before u go throwing accusations.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

he was great at Atletico, hence our signing him, he has been a great player at international level too, remember WC06, possibly the best world cup goal ever revolved around him and Cambiasso, and people don't forget how to play football, he's not overly old either. Yes he had a dodgy start to last season, but if you're going to single him out then you have a problem as the whole team struggled barring Meireles. As the other chap said, get your facts right, or at very least find some old footage of him playing at Atletico and Argentina, because you've obviously never seen him play before his ups and downs at LFC.

4 players from Uruguay who have played really well since i have started watching them are
Victorino:CB: Is strong and nobody in the Copa can get past him. He is one of the main reasons Uruguay are doing well.
Lugano:CB: Big, Strong and a thumping header. He mixes the head of the Greek with the aggression and strength of Carra.
Maxi Pereira:RB: Quick, skillful and has the energy of Kuyt. He seems to play 2 positions in a match RB and RW.
Alvaro Pereira: Winger: Quick, Skillful, full of balls, goal scorer. If we got another winger he would solve all our problems.
I enjoy watching Uruguay as they are a attacking team with good strikers, wingers, defenders and a great goally.

Vargas and Suarez off. Vargas sent off for a stupid elbow, Suarez subbed as precaution, got booked in first half and been targeted with some rough treatment by the Peruvians. Saving him for final. One more game then a well deserved break and lets be proud that we've got the joint top scorer and will probably be player of the tourney in Luis and accept the fact he'll prob miss Sunderland match. I've got a feeling though if he gets his way he'll be on bench at least but we shall see. Fingers crossed now he comes home in one peace.90 more mins and a well deserved week on the beach for Luis. Top 10 this year for me;
1. Chelsea
2. Man Utd
3. Man city
4. Liverpool
5. Arsenal
6. Spurs
7. Everton
8. Aston Villa
9. Fulham
10. Sunderland

I think this season and next we will consolidate getting back into champions league, then in the next 5 years we WILL challenge properly for the title.
I know we get laughed at when we say that but i believe we will with king in charge, he will carry on building the squad and have a league winning side in the next couple of years

I don't think everton will sell baines to us and baines has said on there website that he's happy at everton and can't wait for the new season.
I would go for ste warnock, he's a former youth player and didn't get a look in under rafa's foreign policy ha ha.
Plus he's a red and would be perfect at left back for us.
Not as good as baines but a close 2nd. Still think we need another centre half, maybe scott dann is the ideal signing.... any news ed ?

20 Jul 2011 01:18:34
I would love baines at are club like many on here are saying, i think he is better than ashley cole, but there is no chance of everton letting us have him and plus i think he is happy there. I still can't believe we paid 20 million for downing.
I can understand paying 20 mill for henderson because he young and can grow at us but the downing deal is a joke.
Are best signing so far is defo charlie adam for 7 million great buisness that
Would love us to get a solid centre back now and maybe 1 more striker.
Hope kenny calms down on these british midfielder's its not the 70's king

why do we talk about Raul Meireles being sold to get rid of dead wood .He was one of our best players last season - Albeit his first in the premiership . LFC need one average + striker who could fit into the way of things and a CB . Too many cooks spoil the broth, look at chelsea. LFC have a fantastic chance of winning the league with the players and staff they have at hand.There is no need for anymore signings, we have a fairly strong squad

20 Jul 2011 00:17:37
It is astonishing to think, after the huge crowds attracted on the Far East tour, that LFC - one of the biggest football brands in the world - is constricted to one of the smallest stadiums.
F***n unbelievable, when you think about it.
