People do you not get bored of talking about torres?

Yes, he was great for us and scored plenty, and he will score plenty for chelsea too. .

But the facts are he has gone, along with Babel, and in there place we have Carroll and Suarez.

What sounds more deadly to you's?

Since Torres left we have scored plenty so lets celebrate our current TEAM rather then one ex player.

Let's move on from it, I know I have

Cant believe all this stuff on here about only being a fan if you go to matches or you are only from liverpool.

i lived in the south west of england and have supported liverpool since i was about 6years old i am 36 now so a long long time.

i remember as a kid listening to the fans singing ynwa for the first time and it made me cry then and it still does now. i remember as a kid bleeding and thinking liverpool is in my blood

i went to matches but not every week to expensive to do but i bought the shirts i bought the memorabilia that put money into the my club your club all of ours club.

i live in holland now and can't get to games now i go to england once or twice a year when i go i go to liverpool to watch a game as well.

even now when i cut myself i think of when i was a kid and the colour of my blood and hearing that song for the first time

i have the passion for my club just like any other fan on here so no fans from were ever they are from have any right to criticise another liverpool fan

if i could i would go to every game but circumstances don't allow it but i still support liverpool no matter where i am

we are all fans lets stick together and begin the new revolution together and move the club forward

Priory Rd - I know what yr sying mate, just not very tactfully put maybe.
Everybody's circumstances are different. I've gotta make my living south of Watford these days and work odd hours too.
But we should all respect everyone's right to get involved in whatever way they can.

Ha , arr what a beaut you are, do you want me to name every chippy on priory road? tell you the direction from priory to utting ave past the asda by where the setter and vine burned down thru broadway? where all you out of towners park on match days? yeah ive just googled that aswell, do us a favour ed 005 note my IP if you can and if ya can make it possible to let these 'knowers' that my IP is based in Liverpool,

I walk alone, your the support? I walk the match, you've never been

To be fair mate it just makes it worse, That you DON'T understand the Liverpool way, You'll never walk alone isn't a pick and choose, Nor is it a birth right, Bill Shankly was from Scotland, Would you tell him YOUR opinion is higher than his, What about King Kenny, Bob Paisley, Greame Souness, Ian rush, Stop me when you want.
EVERY member than feels the passion burn through there body is a Kopite, Every little boy or girl who stops in there tracks because You'll never walk alone has touched there soul IS a Scouser, If you can say from the bottom of your heart that you love Liverpool, Your one of us, If you accept people from all backgrounds that they share the same passion as you You belong.

I don't go to games because, My wife is disabled with Ecto-dermal Displaxia, My Son had development issues, My Daughter wants to go to the park at weekends, I spend all my time money and energy on them, BUT i buy Liverpool merchandice, I watch and support every game on TV, I tell everyone i no i love Liverpool, Does that make me a poor fan, My Wife and children are my life, Im not gonna chase Millionaire footballers round they world like a selfish moron, Id rather my faily had that money thank you.

{Ed005's Note - Your IP states you are from Liverpool. However try to cut out all this stuff about people not being from Liverpool. This arguement has been raised time and time again on this website.}

Do us a favour Ed, Not once right in all this have I said fans outside the city are a bad thing, If you read the previous posts which surely you have you will see, and anyone whos gonna say im knocking fans outside the city read through the posts, this all started over what I said about match goers attitudes toward Torres' move to Chelsea versus people who don't go the match and who 'are' outside the city, as fans outside the city are not as informed as within the city by pure local media coverage, rumours that go round the city (theres been plenty about Gerrards private life) theres a difference in culture between local supporters and outside supporters, but people have took this as a discrimination, it wasnt at all, I love ALL Liverpool fans, so just actually read whats been said before you take offence and draw conclusions, gonna leave it as that now and hopefully that'll set it straight, hope you take note of that Ed 5 {Ed007's Note - I have said before, whether you go to games or not isn't an issue, if you support a team you are entitled to your opinion, season tickets etc cost alot of money, and alot of people have lost their jobs, would you rather brag about your season ticket or feed your family? I shouldn't even need to ask that question}

20 Mar 2011 23:34:50
Priory Road - just seen your reply below.
What u saying then? Yr happy for the club to take fans money but they shouldn't say anything or voice their opinions ?
I sorta know what yr getting at. As I said, locals should always show the way. But I do remember a lot of these anti-wool comments at the match, especially at away games, back in the day.
There's no need for it to be honest. .

Im a season ticket holder, I sacrifice alot to afford to go, don't think i've got any 'god' given right to say anything, think ive got more of a right because theres a massive difference between following Liverpool on the TV and going the game and your saying things like I walk alone and all this, that's the most offended thing ive been accused of from a 'Liverpool' supporter, you've got absolutely no fact, right, or ground to even know the times ive been through at the club, ectasy in Turkey, dispair in Athens, going to the games through thick and thin, i've earned my right to say my point and have it taken seriously, for the ney sayers against it the gulf of support between myself and you is a million times longer than 62 miles

if you read what im saying, its that just because you go to games it doesn't make you any less of a fan, and to those who think that i t does, well i'm sorry but that's offensive to everyone else.i'msorry if it were misconstrewdin any way but i'll put it simply for you, to think if you go to a match you are more important in your opinons then what you call an armchair supporter who cannot get to a game for some reason then you cannot call yourself a true liverpool supporter. just becuase you have here and there with the team you think your something better than the rest of us, well i'msorrymate but your not. rant over.

Like it a lot mate. I agree about Matt Jarvis being a steal as well. He's an out and out winger who can deliver a decent ball which is what we're craving, plus he wouldn't cost an arm and a leg. It annoys me when fans think pricey foreign players are always the answer. Look at Valencia for United for example. Sign from a so called lesser club and is very good player. I'd rather us spend 7-10m on Jarvis who's English and used to our league, than spend 20m+ on some unproven european player.
- - - - - - - - - - -

Jarvis would cost £15m+ should Wolves stay up (which they should do). A lot of teams made enquiries in January, but Wolves quoted them a crazy starting price before they would even enter negotiations.
Needless to say, no teams matched the price.

For £15m and cheaper we could easily get far better players, so I doubt Kenny and Comolli will be interested.

Hi Ed. do you think we could be successful if we put in bids for Adam Johnson and Andre Arshavin cause i think both are unsettled at their clubs at the moment. thanks {Ed005's Note - I doubt it mate as I can't see Man City selling Adam Johnson to us although he is a quality player. Arshavin, I wouldn't want. I think he's vastly over-rated and he goes missing in the big games and rarely makes an appearence in any other game.}

I'm from Dublin in Ireland and have been to many games in Anfield, but obviously I can't go to every game, sure Anfield only holds 45,000 and a certain number of them are allocated to the away fans, so therefore by your point, Liverpool only have the fans in the ground on any given week. And here's me thinking Liverpool had a massive worldwide fanbase.

I'd add one thing, and this may be true of other supporters as well, but what attracted me to Liverpool (as a non-Scouser) back then was as much the passion of the swaying Kop as the football.
Shankly put it right when he said to a kid visiting Anfield for the first time "what's it like to be in Heaven laddie ?"
We're all disciples mate.

Amazing performance from us today. I think the whole team performed marvelously, although Andy Carroll will need to find his feet sooner rather than later, pressure is bound to mount even if we say we'l give him time to shine. Luis Suarez shone like bright once again, well done to him. Spearing is really stepping up to plate but I fear he won't feature much as we still have Lucas, Meireles, Gerrard coming back and might just dip in the window for a central player. Nice to see Agger back, we really did miss him. With Kelly fit, we'l be a real threat if we keep playing this way.
I have been a real fan of Matt Jarvis this season and his performances have earned him an England call-up, one of the Ed(s) didn't agree with me when I said he would be a cheap option for the left-side which I do agree seeing as he plays for a team that's circling around the drop zone but he's a very traditional left midfielder who crosses in all the time, sticks to the line, takes on players and scores a few goals too. Would be a real bargain IMO.
I think the squad next year would compete for honours next year if it looked something like this:
Reina
Johnson Kelly Agger Baines
Young Gerrard Meireles/ Lucas Jarvis
Suarez
Carroll
Bench-Jones, Carragher, Wilson, Spearing/ Lucas, Marveaux, Maxi, Kuyt
Note: I have only included 3 bought players (total approx:£38 Million) and one on free. A striker and another winger would be most welcome.
What do you think Ed(s), posters?
RedSox69
p.s-Ashley Young isn't my first option, neither is Jarvis for that matter but Young is apparently on the most wanted list and Jarvis as I said, has played REALLY well, against the big 4 too.

To the lad from Priory Rd, having a go at fans on this site.
Lpool's core support shld always be locals. But the club is much bigger than that, and has been so for 40 odd yrs now.
If it is to move up that level the club needs to commercially galvanise its world support like Man Utd has.
For myself, I'm a wool. First game at a cup away match in 74 & stood behind Shanks.
But gone are the days when u cld queue up, then get in the Kop for a fiver unfortly. Not everyone can get there as much as wld like these days.
So just ease up mate eh. There are fans outside of Maghull too.

Arrr Mate, read what ave actually said, i'm NOT knocking fans outside the city, its absolutely vital to have such a big fan base, I was in America recently and the only footy tops i saw were ours, what I said was theres a massive cultural difference between the fans who go the match, and those who've never been, and this was to do with the fans sayin leave Torres now and wish him well, so as yourself someone whos watched Liverpool at the match you can surely understand that point?

Although I had a look at Google myself, and if you lived "off" the Priory Road in Liverpool you'd be on another street, so surely it would have been more suitable for him to just mention a street? There is also a priory road in London.}

Just studying the League table properly for the first time this season. . . . .It'll be tough but we could deffo finish fourth. Moneybags Citeh are imploding with Balotelli and Tevez doing "a Torres" with the petulant, sulky brat act, and Barry is officially crap, Dzeko isn't working out and Adam Johnson and Micah Richards would rather play for us.
Tottenham are going backwards (finding their true level) and Chelsea's All-Star eleven are a mish-mash of highly-priced (but generally inept as a team) players. The Torres sale (£50m for a £15m player) could be yet even more fruitful for us as Ancelotti seems obligated to play him come what may.
Arsenal haven't got a defence/ goalkeeper and the loss of Vermaelen has been unlucky for them.
Sadly, Man(ure) will probably win the League but I do hope it's Arsenal. Either way they'll be top two (probably) and we've got some catchin' up to do.
As for the "lesser" places we didn't do ourselves any harm today and if we can fluke a top 4/ 5 finish with the "quality" of squad we've got then that'll be an incredible testiment to Dalglish and Clarke given where we were when they took over (lest ye forget!)
In addition, Andy Carroll will be our target-man for years to come and, given the business we did on "that day" is an absolute snip at £35m. . . .so all you so-called supporters who are bringing poison to the Club. . . . f% k off! The lad has already started to deliver what we've been missing for years and it's not his fault if we've got a crappy midfield.
Get behind the team whatever and we'll strengthen come the sunshine months. Suarez, Carroll, Reina, Gerrard, Agger, Meireles, Suso, Sterling, Johnson, Kuuyt, Kelly, Silva, Ince, Cody, Wisdom etc plus loads of signings and get rid of a load of driftwood and Bob's yer uncle. . . easy!
(I've got loads to say on who we should offload and sign but I'm up early and you've probably heard it all before).

also i thought a good shout for cb for the future phil jones of blackburn.

Where did that International fanbase start from? From Anfield and the fans who went to games home and away, who would travel the globe either watching, working or on holiday telling about our beloved side, and selling the team to the locals. Who would share the same passion as ourselves. Generation after generation and its instilled in every fan and experiencing it is the best drug you can have. Yes without our fanbase we are nothing, but without the club and the fans who pay every week you wouldn't have the club we love or the passion as fans we have. Are owners know what power the fans who go have, and its us who dictate to the owners and our solidarity and unity have got us where we are, the battles we've won with previous owners and against woy who felt the wrath of the fans. So before you write think of those soldiers who fought the last regime and continue to do so for the good of the club and for those of you far a field YNWA

The chap does not play for Liverpool football club anymore. Simple as that. It's a killer that he left, the lad was f*&cking brilliant most times for us and to be honest, I'd love to see him with Suarez now and even Carroll but that's the way it goes. We need to get over it. We bought a world class striker and he is gone now. I love the club more than any player. They come and go. And living in Dublin makes it very f&*cking expensive every year going to the club we love. mr torres has left the building. . . . . . .

I know mate but I don't understand why fans are saying things like 'wish him the best' and hope he does well, for him to do well would be to our detriment, does anyone want to see him banging them in and chelsea climbing the table? Does anyone wanna see Reina saving pens for United? If he'd of gone back to spain like Alonso it'd be a different story, to leave in January to one of your biggest rivals sticks in many peoples craw, anyway enough said on the matter now

Firstly fans have a right to talk about Torres n his failure to score.

But secondly to the pratt who said we should turn up to games to find out how it feels. Lfc is not just Merseyside it has a national & international fanbase. Without that there would be no NESV, no 3 lfc players shirt sales in the top ten no biggest sponsorship deal in premiership.

Stop this shortsighted s**t about ur only a fan when u turn up 4 games, without the rest it wouldn't b lfc.

Oh behave will you, I know lads who follow Liverpool thru Europe, go to all friendlies aboard in the summer, have you ever been to the game? Your just some arm chair supporter whos probably never set foot inside the ground and gets your information off andy gray, I promise you now, any regular fan who goes the game who comes on this site would genuinely agree with me, and im not knocking people from outside the city, there are a group of norweigians of around 15 proper viking like 19 stone fellars who go to every single home game and that's great, I speak to all kinds of people at the match and not once would anyone say, 'arr leave torres alone now', you must be mad and off your cake, come back to me mate when you've listened to radio merseyside everynight to the phone ins and the life blood of the club supporters who you meet at the game, read the echo cos that's where you wanna get your liverpool information from, pack it in

ha , yeah alright mate, why don't you go and support some town side and get right behind England aswell, Your probably hoping they involve Caroll and Gerrard aswell in this next squad,

This is a site for nothing more than arm chair southern fans who've never been to a single game at Anfield, arent there scores of clubs elsewhere for you to go to, I live in Anfield and was raised on the terraces from a kid so i've got more right than you to say what the real match going supporters are saying, your probably one of those supporters I seen in Turkey last year walking round reading the sun, Liverpool fans they were.? Exactly the same type as you who hasnt got the first iota of the culture of the club, stop trying to celebrate our fame and to the cat who wrote its probably cockney Chelsea fan, I live off Priory Road, bet ya know where that is don't ya ?

KK wants the acquisition of 7 new faces in the summer as he knows we're lacking pace and creativity in the squad,

a LB
a DM
a ST
3 wingers
a CM

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

This is what I've been told regarding the positions:

Baines or Enrique for LB
M'Vila for DM
Benzema for ST
Young, Marveaux and Dzsudzsak/ Cazorla/ Payet for the wings.
Adam for CM.

So ED do you think its possible Suarez can improve! i mean he is already developing into one of the best strikers in the Premier League! Your thoughts Ed ?

{Ed002's Note - He needs a partner he can play with - and I doubt that is Carroll.}
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
I agree Ed him and Carroll just didn't work for me today! Maybe Benzema could be better or him and Kuyt looked good together? Anything to add Ed ?

{Ed002's Note - Nope.}
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Do you not think this is going to take a bit of time to settle in, they have not really had much chance to build a partnership,

I have to agree, they just didn't look the part today, i hope they will get better. If we had to go for a big man i would have prefered someone who can actually use their feet ie gomez, even cardozo.

Also what do people think about signing freddy guarin from porto? think hes a great player

It's OK Ed! Just found it there he got injured against West Ham on the 27th February if I am correct, so should be recovered by next week or the week after! Good times ahead for us don't you think ED ? {Ed005's Note: He'll have to get fit again also. And if we get a few good signings in the Summer I'll be more optomistic about next season, especially if Kenny is here.}

Players i would like to see at anfield next season.

Joe Hart
Micha Richards
Baines
Adam Johnson
Adam
Matt Jarvis

i think we need to start being realistic and have a young sqaud with as many english players as poss for the UFEA rulings. I think the rest of our youth players in the system should be given the chance to come through and shine.

Baz

- - - - - - - - - - - - -

There's no point wasting £100m on mediocre players just because they're English. We will comfortably make the 8-man homegrown rule next season - much more easily than we did this season. Gerrard, Carragher, Kelly, Ayala, Carroll, Gulacsi, Johnson, Spearing and Cole will all qualify for the homegrown rule by September next year. If Spearing and Cole are gone by then (which I think is likely), we can nominate players like Shelvey, Flanagan and Coady for the extra two places.

Though I do wholeheartedly agree with you on Baines, Johnson and Richards, who I think would all be fantastic signings.

Just wondering what you guys make of vladimir wiess who is on loan at rangers from man city. any idea how much he would cost because he is a proper talent and i have a feeling he would be cheap and he is obviously young? i think he would fit the bill perfectly he can play out wide and through the middle! {Ed002's Note - I assume he has had a good game today. His value would be low - a few million. I think you may be setting your sights rather low.}

nah ed i don't think im setting my sights rather low at all ive seen him 4 or 5 times now and he is far too good for the SPL which i know is not hard as the SPL is rubbish but i honestly think given a little bit of time he could be a real class act! watch out for him in the future i really think he would be a great buy and would fit the supposed guidlines for the type of guy we want! {Ed005's Note - With all respect to any SPL fans, the SPL might not be considered the best league for a person to prove their playing ability.}

20 Mar 2011 21:18:29
I heard monreal from osasuna was watched by comolli and he was impressed and would be available for 10m who would you rather have monreal, baines, Enrique, clichy or coentao as main lb and back up lb ED? {Ed005's Note - I would choose Baines out of that list, as I've never seen Monreal and Clichy/Coentrao can't defend.}

20 Mar 2011 21:16:35
Reina/ lloris

Kelly/ Johnson Skittles/ Carra. Agger. Cissokho/ Johnson

Gerrard/ Adam M'villa/ Lucas

Young/ kuyt. Raul. Suarez/ marveaux

Carroll/ benzema.

Ed with all these rumours regarding transfers and interest, if lfc lined up something like this next season do u think squad is capable of top 4 or title push?

P.s I'd add a centre half personally aswell

Cheers.
MOMO786 {Ed005's Note - It looks like a good squad but I'd be aiming for the top 4 first.}

Cmon boys u can't put up with that caveman Pratt, lfc is a family. Lfc wouldn't survive just on fans on metseyside. So Suarez not a true lfc player or Henry no right to run club coz they were not born in Liverpool? Bet he still thinks women can't vote.

I bet the cockney geezer isn't even from Liverpool, Some ex chelsea fan realising Liverpool are on there way up, and chelsea billions mean noting no more.

Josek, do you still hold by your post last week about spearing. I have watched every game he has played this season and he has performed on every occasion. He has become an asset to the squad and has shown that he got a future at the club. Delighted for him. I am not saying he should or will always start, but against certain opposition he gives kk an option. Reality Red

Lets not get over excited , take one game at a time.Agger was class today, suarez was class(needs to cut out the diving ) spearing solid inthe middle , carrol can only get better and we got gerrard and kelly to come back.

The same against west brom wil do nicely

Aguero to Barca. This deal paves the way for Bojan to come to us. Great young prospect, what you think ed? Al. {Ed002's Note - I think Aguero may move but the issue remains his wages. Bojan is seen as one for the future but a large enough offer may be a temptation.}

"Oh behave will you, I know lads who follow Liverpool thru Europe, go to all friendlies aboard in the summer, have you ever been to the game? Ed what are your thoughts on the French influence coming into the squad and pushing out the Spanish and argies Myself if we lose reina we should look at de gea not lloris I know it's mainly down to comolli but I think if his opinion is mainly French then he needs to give his head a wobble and look at players other than French players.

KopEndDannyLFC {Ed002's Note - It is cosmopolitan already Portugese, Danish, Spanish, Scottish, Slovakian etc. so I don't see it being a problem ti integrate Sylvain Marveaux and perhaps another one or so.}

I see everyone is slagging Torres off again, I thought he was playing for Chelsea now, We have now got Suarez and Carroll, and I think they will be great additions for LFC, but yet people still bang on about Torres, who cares if he scores or what he does, he does not play for LFC, It is becoming so boring to read about it now, I thought this was a page dedicated to LFC not ex players.

Its dedicated to fans, fans who go the match and pay through the nose with their hard hard earned wages for Torres to be on hundreds of thousands of pounds a week, so when he moved to them and has not stopped coming out saying negative things about us, when he fails to score and hes struggling our fans are happy to see it, all the things he said in his book, all lies, we're the bigger club in every shape of the idea and Chelsea are nothing compared to us, no matter how much success they've bought the last few years, start payin to go the match on a regular basis and see how you feel about it
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Do you not think it would be better to show Torres that we are bigger than that, rather than booing him or slagging him off like children. Footballers are very fickle people with very little in the way of morales, and most of them don't really care about fans. so why bother continue talking about it, and when I go to a game, I go to see LFC not one player so it makes very little difference. Ross

Ed heres a funny rumour i heard today. . . . . .
Carlos Tevez is being linked with us to partner Suarez . I personally think they are similar players so don't really understand why we would go for him . But then again maybe Kenny has something up his sleeve . Heard anything ED ? {Ed002's Note - No.}

I guess it will take a while longer to settle in properly and build a relationship with Carroll.}

I am by no means convinced there is interest at this time though.}

I can understand why people want to add another forward or two but we've got more than enough talent in the under 18s who hopefully can go out on loan next season.

20 Mar 2011 20:02:45
A johnsons just come back from injury hasn't he.
Still tho he will get fed up with sitting on the bench, or if he gets in the squad it may be the same situation with milner.
I'm sure I heard Johnson wanted to come to us before he went to s**ty.

To people slagging off lucas
i thought he had a good game today
lucas loves the club an never ever gives up, he claims for every decision and gets stuck in throwing himself into tackles an headers every game.
He lacks consistently which is his obvious problem.
He could also improve his game massively if he took less touches as he did today, he needs more 1-2 touch training sessions.
every1 gets on his back because he has games where he dwells on the ball an get it swiped from his feet.
if here clears up the flaws in his games he can easily have a future at lfc

Looking at the fixtures Liverpool could actualy snap up 5th place this season.
Suarez is another Tevez.
Spearing who plays it simple and tidy was great today.
Lucus played well again.
Agger was very good and connected well with Skertle who also was very good.
Carroll was better than poor yet still to find his feet.
So on conclusion. We played well against a very good Sunderland although we may have had a little help from officials today but still we can held our head high. Well done boys, coaches and ofcourse Kenny.
Ed did Torres mutter a swear word after being takin off? Did anybody notice this?
Did Liverpool ever look at David Luiz? {Ed002's Note - No. Manchester City were the other team interested.}

Lucas terrible as per usual, how long is it going to take for people to realise this!?!?!

he doesn't track, do good passes, tackle, or generally do anything. When he gets the ball, just watch this 2nd half, 95% of the time he will pass to the nearest man (which is why he has a high pass completion rate for all you muppets! !)

He is awful and isn't good enough to start in any bpl team.

I think he would ed, seems like a nice lad, not the 'money-grabbing' type. Would be a fantastic buy as he would certainly get first team football here and should be getting it at city. Much better than that half-arsed Ashley Young!

Torres plays for Chelsea, he is not regretting his his decision, he is not missing us can we please just move past it. He wanted to play for chelsea and he is, end of.

What?! Why don't you go and shake his hand then, the people I sit with at the match, scousers, season ticket holders on the spion kop are still seething at it, for him to spew us for them, the are the antithesis of everything Liverpool Football Club, are, and those die hard week in week out fans wish him the worst

I only read the first few lines of this, SRP? you dyslexic t**t, Also you should look in to the details of the Mutu deal as this is still ongoing.

{Ed002's Note - It is unsubstantiated nonsense I am afraid. Scott Parker spent a year out with a knee ligament injury; Crespo went because his wife could not settle; Mutu was sacked because of a failed drug test.}

dyslexic t**t, really? so because i said SRP when i meant SWP I deserved to be called that? I think your one of those for calling me it for that reason.

Its not nonsense at all, they were flops, pure and simple, the players who've stayed, i.e Drogba, Cole, Cech etc stay because they are the top players, the ones who flop get binned off, and you've got a terrible attitude Ed002, you scoff at peoples suggestions and thoughts and you wanna think about the way you talk to people on this

So another away win :)

And another solid performance from the midfield, especially spearing.

He is not a quality player, but nor was macherano, and I would compare the 2 as very similar.

Today, just like the anfield win over everton, spearing dominated and I say in certain matches spearing is needed. Not neccessarily a starter, but deffo a squad player.

Suarez, different class, He brings so much to our game that whats his name never had when he was with us.

Carroll, looked jaded today but should have scored and linked up with others, judge him when fully fit but I feel he will be a quality player for us but what I like is the fact that suarez and carroll will get the chance to gel this season, have a full pre-season with each other and then push on next year. (Hefty price tag, great potential)

Carragher, so much said about him is negative, no pace ect. . carragher never was the wuickest, but he was always the one man you could rely on time and again to make those all important last minute blocks. Proper old school defender, no nonsense, get the ball and get rid. Thats why I rate him so highly and would NOT replace him just yet. Hyypia was never the quickest either, but he was great at reading the play and dealing with the threat. Top performance today!

One away win all season under roy, 3 now under KK and before the game started, sky sports showed what the league would look like had it started when keeny first game back, 8th january. .

Liverpool would be top by one point having played 10, collecting 20 points along the way. (bear in mind he knows the team need improvements, and he knows who he wants)

So to anyone saying KK hasn't changed a thing while being here, your quite wrong!

Job well done today, and regardsless of where we finish, I am becoming ever ore optimistic we WILL be back as a feared team next season.

One last point, just loved to see A. Johnson start on the bench again today. Must be becoming very frustrated now. I say a cheeky 20mill bid in the summer, 12mill for young, and all of a sudden our vulnerable and no width team, looks like a title winning team with the current spine we have.

"To all of you thinking Benzema will be coming in the summer. . in our dreams. Benzema is playing quality at hte moment and real madrid will have no intention of selling him. Unless jose comes. ."

not sure if the last bit was meant to be tongue-in-cheek, but jose coming would make it less likely for us to get benzema - jose only used him out of necessity, not choice!

Once Higuain is fit again, I bet Jose drops him to the bench again, I am not saying he will come to us, but I can't see him staying at Madrid as he will not get much game time, as Jose does not rate him.

They loaned him back to A.C before he went on a free to kiev, other flops they've had Scott Parker, (10m) year later went to Newcastle for 6.5m, SRP, 21m from City, back to City for 9m. Crespo 16.8m from Inter, back to Inter on a free, Mutu, 15.8m, Sacked. Surely it is not beyond the realms of possibility for Chelsea in the summer to want to recoup some of there stupid fee especially as they are going after every best player each transfer window, we all know the Augero rumours will start flying soon especially with Torres' form, and look at the losses they've made on previous big spends, the majority left on free transfers, is Torres going to sit on the bench? Of course hes not cos hes bigger than any club hes at, so I truely think the longer this carries on with the number of quality strikers and attacking players they have at Chelsea, who, have just played the last 15 minutes and scored 2 when Torres was replaced, we'll start seeing these rumours of him quite possibly going in the summer, and i'll laugh my head off with every other Liverpool season ticket fan

But apparently Newcastle turned down a £25m bid for Carrol from Spurs about a week before accepting our £35m offer. That was the going rate at the time and thanks to torres putting in a very late transfer request in the final few days of January we had to pay top dollar for Carrol.

Surprised people are criticising Lucas today I thought he had a good game (remember people defensive midfielders normally have to make fould to break up play - see De Jong, Barry, etc. ).

I thought Spearing had an excellent game; worked hard and so much better than Poulsen (is he Liverpool std, that's debatable but I'd keep him (providing Aqualini and Poulsen go).

Suarez frustrated me in the 1st half when the ball wasn't being played how he wanted it he was moaning to the other players; seemed to knuckle down in the 2nd half and a great goal; considering he doesn't speak English he's been fantastic with his assists and 2 goals.

Carroll obv not fit enough to play two games in a week yet (or 4 days); I remember one of the Ed's didn't fancy signing him as he wasn't that mobile (not having a dig btw) but he seems pretty mobile to me considering he's not match fit yet.

What a different team we are with Agger in the defence; if only he could stay fit all season!

I think it's going to be an interesting Summer as clearly we need to get rid of a number of players (those potentially on loan - Insua, Degan, Konchesky, Aquilani, El Zhar and also some of the squad who aren't getting games - Jovanivic, Poulsen, Pacheco (i know but he's not getting a game) etc. ) so they should bring some cash in for new players as well as freeing up a lot of the wage budget (hopefully if we can get buyers).

You must be having a giraffe, so when players arent performing players don't get binned off sooner rather than later? And Shevchenko doesn't spring to your mind? So you really think that if it doesn't start happening for Torres in a big way soon hes got a significant future at that club? {Ed001's Note - Sheva spent 3 years at Chelsea, that is hardly a swift boot out the door for underperforming.}

Wingers left - Marveaux (free) & N'zobia (reduced fee)

Winger right - Young (reduced fee)

Midfielder - Adam (reduced fee)

Defenders - Enrique (reduced fee) & Warnock (free)

The pattern seems to be any quality player at a knockdown price is an equitable target , hopefully there will be a new player or 2 added to the list .

I won't say anything bad about Torres today as it is his birthday. Suarez is simply amazing

20 Mar 2011 18:04:49

Torres is the shadow the player he was, mind you Gerrard's not feeding him anymore. Wonder if he's thought of this and has any regrets?
David Luiz looks superb for Chelsea and I wished we snapped him up.
Another win for us puts us right behind spurs though

20 Mar 2011 18:02:36
Eds,

What are the chances of Torres going in the summer, either through Chelsea wanting rid, or him knowing its not working out? (especially since the way they've just played when he went off?)

The team needs to play to acustom Torres as he plays better as a lone striker, did for us, did for Atletico, doesn't do aswell for Spain in a 4 4 2, and got dropped in World Cup finals in favour of 4 3 3,

Hes looking the same as Shevchenko did and look what happened to him,

So in all seriousness what kind of outcome could we expect as Chelsea are known to be impatient and could you see this going on beyond this season; if this situation carrys to the end of the season?

{Ed002's Note - There is little or no chance of him leaving. I am not sure what makes you think Chelsea are impatient, most players stay there longer than many other clubs.}

I feel the need to inject some positivity as I get a sense of negativity around here lately.

Since Kenny took over the club is 6 won, 2 drawn, 2 lost in the Prem. This is pretty strong. Consider that under Roy we were 7 won, 4 drawn, 9 lost. Its a pretty amazing turnaround. If you take it one step further, in Kenny's first 2 matches in the Prem we lost to Blackpool and drew Everton. So take away those first 2 in which we didn't have Suarez and Kenny was really just starting to implement his style of play and we are 6-1-1. Thats really strong.

Maybe we are closer to being in the title race than people seem to think. I think we are only a couple players away. {Ed007's Note - As long as Charlie "Zidane" Adam isn't one of them lol}

just wondering what you guys make of vladimir wiess who is on loan at rangers from man city. any idea how much he would cost because he is a proper talent and i have a feeling he would be cheap and he is obviously young? i think he would fit the bill perfectly he can play out wide and through the middle! {Ed002's Note - I assume he has had a good game today. Drogba and Anelka are on the bench because they've gone with yet another system to accomodate a player who shouldn't be starting through his terrible form, but with his silly price tag that us Reds are becoming happier and happier about with every chelsea performance, of course they'll start him.

Walking round with his shoulders slumped, bad body language, things on his mind.

Andy Carrol was unlucky not to score today, Suarez did,

Well done Liverpool F.C excellent piece of business

Good win for the lads today well done. I know miereles hasn't been playing that brilliantly lately but its his 1st season in the prem so is probably starting to feel the pace abit.
I know the squad we have isn't the best but kenny has got 20 points in 10 games , nearly as many as hodg got in 20 games.
So if kenny had been in charge all the season would it be that unrealistic to think we could have had 20points more. Look where that would have put us, and that's with the squad we have.
So roll on the summer and bring on next season.

If we signed Benzema, our 1st team would be 3 up front. Also, Suarez and Benzema are very similar players - he gives us a different dimension. Also what would be the point in signing a quality crossing winger in Young if we don't have a big man up front (Suarez and Benzema aren't very good in the air).

No decent shots on target, KK needs to give them a bollicking, how do you plat so well against Chelsea, and Man U, but so bad against the rest, why are we not giving the kids ago, why NGOG

Was only able to catch the last 10 mins but have to say, Brilliant! . For a change we took advantage of our opponent's slip-up. And it wasn't a penalty but again for a change, a bad decision in our favour. Oh and suarez's goal, goal of the season? ?

Honestly quite excited about being a liverpool fan now. .
Suarez is obviousely a class act, different class.
Carroll has looked good in his first couple of appearences
Kuyt who I don't rate personally but he is on good form
And we can't forget gerrard who is still to come back!
And then all this talk about players coming in. .

Imagine and im trying to be sensible here but an attack of:

. . . . . . .suarez. . . . . . . . .carroll. . . . . . . . .

young. . . . . . . . . .gerrard. . . . . . . . . . . kuyt

Or get another winger instead of kuyt, don't know who but I think it will be hard for sanchez but i still think turan is an option! him on left and young of right or vice-versa.

Then a left back and a centre back and i think we would be sorted for a title challenge next season!

Y.N.W.A. . I just can't get enough.

As mad as it sounds carol will become our super sub. Benzema will be dinamight alongside loui, I just hope nothing gets in the way of benzy coming, he is on fire for real at min, everytime I hear of real playing the fella has scored ( what's his goals tally for season? ) no doubt if we get him we will have the best forward line in euro not just prem, the team that poster up above has posted is one hell of a team, I just carnt see pepe being here next season. You have got to feel sorry for Sunderland, how could they play against 14 men? The officials this season have been dreadful, laughable in this game. Suarez looks pretty good, but he dives around like a little bitch whenever he can, at least Nani actually gets fouled before he goes down. I am so glad United never went for Carroll, what a waste of space.

- - - - - - -

ha , typical bitter response by Sydney!. Every time he pops up he seems to conveniently forget the hundreds of decisions made in ManUre's favour (Clattenburg, Webb) made this season.
Now, for the first time in a few games we get a game-changing decision in our favour, we're slated for apparently getting truck-loads of decisions in our favour.

Carroll's only played an hour after coming back from a 3-month injury and suddenly he's 'a waste of space', when Berbaflop took 2 years to realise he was supposed to score goals.
A case of the pot calling the kettle black. Tsk, tsk.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
Honestly Ed I am as amazed as you seem to be about this Adam talk. He's had half a decent season playing above himself at a club playing well above itself and somehow that makes him good enough for us? I could give you a list as long as your arm of players who have looked like world beaters for a season only to dissapear without trace. We should be looking at seriously good midfielders like Banega or Pjanic {Ed007's Note - At last, someone can see the light, cheers mate}

20 Mar 2011 14:36:44
No no1 player is the answer we need at least 5 players, we are a big club we can still get top players and if we Dont get europe this season we wil def get top 4 next season adamynwa {Ed007's Note - I know you are a big club, too big for Adam, he isn't a top team player}

20 Mar 2011 14:37:41
Without Gerrard, we're missing a driving midfielder; one with a fast, physical presence that will run at the oppositions defence and midfield from deep. I'm thinking Schweinteiger or Banega. We already have the 'ticking' midfielders in Meireles and Lucas.
Olly

20 Mar 2011 14:35:13
Lucas terrible as per usual, how long is it going to take for people to realise this!?!?!

he doesn't track, do good passes, tackle, or generally do anything. When he gets the ball, just watch this 2nd half, 95% of the time he will pass to the nearest man (which is why he has a high pass completion rate for all you muppets! !)

He is awful and isn't good enough to start in any bpl team.
Take him off

20 Mar 2011 14:27:45
@Harry5:)
its more like tin titi tin ttiti tin LUIS SUAREZ, tin titi tin tin tin titti tin LUIS SUAREZ.
ED7, really seems to have an agenda against fans calling to sign Charlie Adam. He is a class player but doesn't warrant a £10 Million buy only for the fact that he was bought for £500,000. its a shame someone who does a marvelous job of editing sites such as these can praise lucas but then keep going all sarcastic when charlie adam comes to question. {Ed007's Note - I never ever praised Lucas??}

- - - - - - - - -

I'll agree with you there and add this:

Meireles hasn't burst into the box once this game as all the long balls are skipping the midfield. All the good influence he has had over the last few weeks isn't been allowed to show because of this. Carroll isn't technically good enough to keep Suarez happy so he needs a top quality midfield to feed him. . . the midfield out there certainly isn't tecnical enough.

Hey lfc fans. .

i have a question for the eds. . .

liverpool aint had wingers for years. .and we never seem to have enough quality to go past players and its so annoying to see.
so why do i see hamill playing well for wolves. or other good players playing derby i think. the defender there whos better than kyriagkos
we seem to have a habit of letting good players go

{Ed002's Note - Many young players don't make it at the top level and go elsewhere and flourish. Some will make it back to the top and others will settle where their skills are most suited.}

they are Neuer , De Gea and Lloris !
Your thoughts ED ?

Welbeck will tear you apart today lads, Welbeck hat-trick!

Sydney!

20 Mar 2011 12:26:19
Eds why don, t we look at Defoe as our 3rd striker instead of big money on a untried EPL player. .England player still with lots to offer i think

Personally i woud look at Baines for the left back position, young good talent and local lad that supports club is always good.

Midfield i do like Adam, i think he has a great eye and runs the midfield well

baz

{Ed002's Note - Defoe would still demand a decent fee to be paid and he is very much on the upper limit age wise.}

20 Mar 2011 12:30:29
Hey ED do you think Andy Carroll AND Luis Suarez will start today? If not who do you expect to start out of the two? Cheers ED ! {Ed002's Note - I expect both assuming Carroll is up to it.}

No we will sign 3 wingers, 2 midfielders, 1 defender, 1 left back and 1 striker.

No spending the season after unless a player wants to leave.

Young, Marveaux, Dzsudzsak/ Payet; Adam, M'Vila; Musacchio/ Sakho; Baines/ Enrique, Benzema/ Gervinho/ Hoarau.

Adam is a great Player eds we don't always need forigen players ( and is better than what we have)

his blackpool side twice beary us and he run the midfield

when liverpool were last great it was like of Aldridge , houghton , Wark who all came from lower teams its what liverpool have been missing sigin some of the best around that are use to are league

adam is as good as any other premier league midfileder this season

{Ed002's Note - You know that Charlie Adam does not count as a homegrown player don't you?}

Reina wants to play for a competitive team and lift the Premier League title as the 28-year-old does not know how many years he has left in the game.

"We have to strengthen, " Reina told the Daily Star. "If we want to improve then we have to do that.

"It is our duty to be strong, to get better.

"The only thing I can do is train and do my best. Who knows if I have got years left?

"It's not about being patient. It's about the club winning and I want to be competitive.

"We used to fight to be among the top team and be in the Champions League.

"Sadly that's not the case now. I want to win titles."

I have copied and pasted Riena's comments from a site called football 365
I do not see this as a hint to leave but a desire to win and want better things for Liverpool.
The points he makes sum up to wanting better results trophies and titles , champs lge football and to improve and strengthen the team we love.

Is that not what we all want? are we are all not sad we are not doing aswell as we would like ?

It does not mean we are gonna change clubs or support any other team.

Alberto aqualani should of never been sent out on loan its not like we didn't need him this season if he goes we get 15 million 4 him if not he stays this has been bad management on liverpools behalf juve offering 5 million and 4 those who say get rid of him on the cheap we are not a charity what a bad way of doing buisness we have a lot more dead wood at our club than him any1 sees how lucas plays on away games recently shocking again on thursday no dought shocking again 2day and there is plenty of lfc fans who agree the treatment of aqua man was shocking

{Ed002's Note - I think you may have been rather badly misinformed. Aquilani was loaned out for a year to Juventus because he was very unhappy in Liverpool and did not want to stay. In the contract there was a fee to make the deal permanent (and would give Liverpool about £13M or so). €5M is still owed to Roma for the player and that needs to be paid in June. Juve want a better deal and are using the availability of Pirlo on a free transfer as a negotaiing tool. Aquilani's agents are, at the request of Liverpool, looking for other suitors. If he returns to Liverpoool the club will be stuck with a player who really does not want to be there - and that is never good.}

20 Mar 2011 11:13:41
Heard a rumour yesterday, but would prefer to hear comments from others who seem to be a bit more in the know.

Reina refused to sign a contract that had a buy out clause but excluded any possible transfer to Man Utd. Utd will now make Reina there no. 1 target to replace van der Sar. Liverpool will then target Robert Green as a ready made replacement.

{Ed002's Note - Reina would never have been offered such a contract and legally it would be impossible to enforce.}

I really don't understand our need to buy Charlie adams. Personall i think Fernandez Suso from our youth team could do that job. He has a range of passing. I would like him to move the ball faster. I think he takes too many touches in the middle before he apply the killer ball.

Would love to see him as a regular. He is class. I hope rather than Adam, we move for Banega, M'vila or sissoko. One of these three would be great, but wouldn't mind two, though. :)

Yeh, the Benzema thing is interesting.
He's hit such a rich vein of form, that I wonder if this has altered the landscape?
Macca reckoned his arrival at Lpool was nailed on. Was that a pre-contract, tacit agreement, or even agreement between the clubs? Do we know?
Benzema was on Utd's radar for a long time.

Dear Mr. Editor. Do you get the feeling that liverpool need a type of player who wil dictate how the game is ran. i mean a player like spurs Luka Modric or Mesut Ozil from madrid. Someone of that class who can play playmaker role cos lets face it gerrard isn't up to iot any more. Douglas Costa ftom Shaktar Donetsk has been linked with united this morning for 15 milion but i think he is the type of player liverpool need. I doubt liverpool will buy charlie adam for this role because its really world class that we need atm. Please ed your thoughts. cheers. {Ed002's Note - I expect that Kenny Dalglish sees Steven Gerrard performing such a role and perhaps Jonjo Shelvey is being groomed to move in to that role as Gerrard gets older.}

More rumours about Reina leaving after he made comments about wanting Champions league footie.
Well fair enough to him, he's given us a hell of a contribution, but I only hope LFC will start seriously looking for a keeper, and not leave it to scramble around in the summer.
It would not be the end of the world- there are keepers just as good out there, and we'll get a good price for him, and maybe even profit.

Ed002

60k not enough, imo.
This means that we'll be third behind Manure and Arsenal on match-day revenues. It will even be worse once City expands Eastlands and the Chavs move to a new stadia (which I'm sure will be 65-70 000) as it's been rumoured.

Internationally, we'll be well behind Milan, Inter, Madrid, Barca. Simply not good enough.
I understand that Anfield is much more than a mere stadia, but seriously now, shouldn't we be making financially-sound decisions, as opposed to sentimental ones?

I don't get this. If moving to Stanley Park would give us at least an 80k seater (20k more than we'd have than at Anfield), why the hell not make the move? Is it a money problem? Don't we have the dough to build such a big stadia?

Ed, can you share your views as to what the rationale might be behind staying at Anfield? Why wouldn't a new stadia be on the table. Just your opinion, sir.

Mathias A Nunez Junior {Ed001's Note - a new stadium would put us in huge debt for years to come, we could, however, afford to upgrade Anfield gradually without saddling the club with ridiculous debt levels. United have shown the best way to go in this area, continously buying up land around their stadium and then gradually increasing capacity. Otherwise we will end up like Arsenal and hamstrung by an inability to buy players. Look at how many teams (Southampton, Bolton etc) struggled after moving to a new stadium, it is not something to enter into lightly.}

Hi, ed!

Just wanted to ask. Can Anfield be expanded to 70-80 000 if redeveloped? If not, would an 85 000 to 90 000 seater at Stanley Park be possible?

A huge stadia is crucial if we're to really compete. We cannot go equal to the Emirates, and in any case, considering Manure's very own expansion plans (adding I think 13 000 or 20 000 more seats. Taking OT to 90 000), it's imperative that any stadium developement, whether re- or new, be 80 000 minimum.

Otherwise what's the point? If we go less than 60 000, we'll well lag behind Arsenal and Manure, possibly Spurs if they also get their own project off the ground.
So for me, a minimum of 80k would do, if 90k is asking too much.

What's your take, ed? Are these concerns/ points I am raising legitimate, or plain poppycock? I'd like to hear your and other postors' overall view on the whole stadium thing.

Mathias A Nunez Junior {Ed002's Note - My understanding is that 60k is the maximum that could be done at Anfield and that a new stadium is not on the cards right now.}

Alot of the board members around anfield, rumour has it that we are staying put and redeveloping our ground. Should be announced shortly.
Great news , if kennys new contract announcement that would be the icing on the cake. we would have plenty of time to get our house in order for next season.

20 Mar 2011 01:38:17
{Ed005's Note - That's what I think of A.Young. I personally hate having left-footed players on the right and vice versa.}

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I agree Ed, cutting in off the wing totally contradicts the benefit a winger should bring to a team. Moreover, the rumours re: Kenny being keen to bring Young to Liverpool seem to be getting stronger. Personally, I feel Jerome Thomas would be a better buy for far less money.

works for adam johnson and robben and young {Ed005's Note - That's not what we're trying to say mate. We need width, anyone can see that. Look at Benayoun for example, he always cut in or moved centrally and that caused a lack of width. Also, Adam Johnson is a natural left-winger being forced to play out right and cut in.}
but these players offer the option of being able to play on both wings do they not which is better helps
if other players get injured also.

AKA {Ed005's Note - He made it clear he didn't want to come back to Liverpool and he couldn't cope with the intensity of training let alone the Premiership. I think Aquilani has quality, but he's perhaps better suited to another league.

Ed005, Thanks for the reply. Was this stance because of the way he was treated by Uncle Woy and Cecil? Interesting to hear that he felt he wasn't physically able to cope, do you have a reliable first hand source for this info? He and his agent were in the press two days before he left for Turin stating the contrary view. Perhaps he might change his mind as we now have a proper manager again who wants the team to attack in numbers and not just cravenly defend the 18 yard line?! Ta AKA {Ed005's Note - No mate, he just didn't like English football and thought it was too physical and intense for him, he felt the same way about training. That's why Benitez never started him even though he was fit - because he always moaned and had the wrong attitude. And Hodgson told him that he couldn't guarantee him regular first-team football, which in turn meant he went to Juventus on loan.}

That would appear to be that then!? Glad that Woy felt he could offer the older less talented trio of Poulsen, Konchesky and Cole first team action instead tho!? If AA couldn't handle it and had a bad attitude, then it is best to get as much as possible for him and move on. Cheers AKA

{Ed005's Note - I think Charlie Adam has been brilliant this season. He definatly wouldn't be my first-choice though. People would have doubts about his ability to step up - however I don't think a player loses the passing ability that Adam has when they move up a level, nor do they lose the vision.}

Unfortunately, I don't think we are such a step-up from Blackpool - I don't think Charlie would find it such a huge gulf in quality at the moment, especially with us possibly out of Europe. Sad but true.

I agree Ed, cutting in off the wing totally contradicts the benefit a winger should bring to a team. Moreover, the rumours re: Kenny being keen to bring Young to Liverpool seem to be getting stronger. Personally, I feel Jerome Thomas would be a better buy for far less money.

works for adam johnson and robben and young {Ed005's Note - That's not what we're trying to say mate. We need width, anyone can see that. Look at Benayoun for example, he always cut in or moved centrally and that caused a lack of width. Also, Adam Johnson is a natural left-winger being forced to play out right and cut in.}

Mohamed Sissoko 26- juventus. People said he was the next Veria. He use to play for us until we had to balance the book. Would anyone like to see him come back to the club

Craig Bellamy 31, stiker Cardiff City on loan from Manchester City. Does any1 here rate him as a player. I know he is poor excuse for a person, but he did use to be liverpool player. Would he ever come back for one more season.

Everyone knows that liverpool needs a paul scholes in midfield. Someone that has a range of passing. i just say Charlie Adams has had an amazing season, but so did stephen Ireland two seasons ago. Will he be able to repeat this form away from blackpool. harry kewell was talented but we never saw his leeds style performances

RE: Renia

Jens Lehmann on standby for shock Arsenal comeback. I personally thing Renia needs to move on to further his career. Liverpool is just too far behind Arsenal. When the club was taken over I had hope that things could change if investment was instant. It didn't have happen like that. NESV just didn't act fast enough to save our CL dreams. We where always likely to lose our best players if we didn't make champions league this year. Most of Rafa's hard work has been undone. I also think Man city transfer policy was developed to damage lfc chance of making the cl. G-barry should have been a lfc player, but man city took him. Them buying Yaya Toure forced bara to take Javi from us.
