LFC have played poorly vs Physical strikers its quite obvious now. But also when teams have played a pressing game or just simply closed us down the whole LFC system gets shut down, they become ineffective.
Yes we do need some better players BUT a lot is to do with the mentality AND Tactics.
LFC need to build a winning mentality and start from the first second. Vs Sot the players we're lazy and slow and never really looked dominant at any stage of the match. They need to have some heart.

Even though I back Rodgers you have to say some of it is to do with the tactics.
The team maybe needs to sometimes change it around and add some variation in games especially when drawing/losing.
Also defending wise the team look very vulnerable! The defence if weak BUT its the midfield that gets passed through very easily. Needs some physical players.

Defeats are obviously bad BUT I hope from these defeats they become positives as I hope Rodgers learns from them and tweaks some things.
I hope Rodgers maybe thinks 'Oh I maybe should tweak the system' or 'Maybe I should add a defence coach' 'maybe I do need a physical CM'

The foundations of a good team are there But just needs some tweaking.
Add a few players, improve the defending system.

F5 mate what you expect when a manager plays 4-2-4 with ageing Gerrard and out of Depth Allen, this is the same formation he played against Oldham with Lucas and Allen, Rodgers is a young manager with potential but when comes to tactics he simply is out of his depth, he relies too much on possession or style to win matches rather then tactics, when things go wrong he gets confused and just let's them happen instead of he making them happen.

When saints were all over us and scored 1st goal at that time rodgers needed to react and change the formation because saints were not only bullying us but were missing sitters and ball position was 15% to saints 85%, we we're very lucky the score was 3-1 or else it could have been 7-1.

We suffer from the fear of losing and have done for a long time, we are also obsessed with keeping a clean sheet.
There's many a time I'd swear that Reina and Carra in particular are more concerned over a clean sheet than actually winning the game.
I often thought this negative attitude rubbed off and affected the rest of the team and made us tentative.
You used to see it a lot in our play if we went 1-0 up, quite often in the past we would try to preserve the lead as opposed to extending it.
We have since the turn of the year been a lot more positive once taking the lead in games and gone to score more.

It had to be Peter Beardsley. Why did we ever let him go?!

20 Mar 2013 22:36:22
Carroll, Skrtel, Downing, Shelvey, Carragher, Coates, Spearing, Assaildi and Pacheco are all likely to leave this summer. Rodgers wants Williams, Jovetic, Ince, Wanyama and Lescott.

Sounds a lot like what the Mirror thinks BR is bringing in.

20 Mar 2013 21:18:04
why did we sign Daniel Sturbridge very overated player I say not worth the 12 mill we payed just my opinion fellow reds.

What do you value sturridge at then?

Totally agree mate we could have signed someone a lot better for 12 million.

He is worth no more than 5 million

Wtf! Bet u weren't saying that when he was banging them in. He's not even at full fitness. Another tool who won't give a player the chance

Banging them in wow against the likes of Mansfield get a grip the man is a poor signing he won't improve us believe me he is an average prem striker end of.

Mansfield. think you need to get a grip. he scored against both the manc up the road and with a full pre-season will link up well next season. Ynwa

Andy Carroll is a couple of bob short of three Daniel Sturridge's.
Fernando Torres is a couple of bob more than four Daniel Sturridge's.
Daniel Sturridge is a couple of bob more than 3 David Ngog's.
Up to now based on goals per minute spent on the pitch and purchase price, including potential, plus prospective sell on price for a full England International proven goalscorer.
Daniel Sturridge looks like a real bargain to me.
How you can you possibly judge a goalscorer after just a handful of games is beyond me!
Lots of strikers score their goals in little 3/4 game bursts then go quiet, till the next little burst of goals.
RVP is currently in a quiet 9 game spell? Good job he doesn't play for us, he'd be gone and consigned to the not good enough abuse page.

I believe some of these no name posters are the ones who are out of their depth. Downing 20m£ and you say Sturridge is too expensive? Sturridge had more goals in 2 games then downing in a season. Oscar at Chelsea has 1 prem goal. How much did he cost again? Some of these posters are pants.

Sturridge is absolute quality not only does he score he's one of the best passers in the team on form he's unplayable

Yeah could have got someone a lot better for 12 mill! Someone like Borini for 11 mill,

LFC as a club have always overpaid for players and undersold when we have moved people on.
Its called bad management and its been rife since Moores and Parry era, they couldn't spot a bargain in poundland and neither can the owners /management that followed.

20 Mar 2013 21:05:06
If Suarez does leave along with the likes of Carroll, Skrtel, pacheco, Wilson, Spearing and maybe Downing. I reckon we'll bring in close to £60m.

If Suarez does leave then I say go get Lukaku! Different type of player I know but one hell of a player!

Will be a interesting summer that's for sure! BornRed 78

He is a Chelsea player they payed something like 18 million for him no way would they sell him surely one for the future for Chelsea also i'm sure he would want champs league footy something we won't be getting in a hurry fact i'm afraid to say. TOMLFC.

That would bring in close to 100 million but I'd rather keep suarez.

20 Mar 2013 20:38:54
Jus heard a rumour all is not well in the LFC camp with buck and a few players how true is this I hope not because with a couple of players we could be a real danger next year JON96

That's all it is a rumour, there's always going to be rifts with overpaid spoilt adolescents who think they have a divine right to play, the problem is they will get their lucrative wage packets even if they sit on the bench, there is a lot wrong with football these days & this unfortunately this is just the tip of the iceberg. 20 Mar 2013 20:05:15
Hello Eds, are we actually interested in Ashley Williams or is it just paper talk due to the connection they have?

If he does arrive, do you think that would signal the departure of Suarez? Considering what Williams wrote about him in his book, I don't think they'd get on very well. {Ed002's Note - There is nothing to link any transfers for Willaims and Suarez.}

It's well documented that sheringham & cole didn't get on well but that never stopped them playing for utd

20 Mar 2013 20:03:19
kenny dalglish was the fifth highest paid manager in the world last year. No doubt this was due to his incredibly successful transfer purchases. Carrol, henderson and downing 75 million well spent. this should cause some banter eds.

20 Mar 2013 21:40:55
Mate you should find some information before GLOATING, kenny has won more trophys then wenger. Kenny was not negotiating deals it was camolli and the board who decided to pay that kind of fees for players not kenny.

Its very worrying that our board is run by people who don't know footy or are totaly out of their depth, what was Ian ayre doing when camolli accepted paying 35M for carroll, how can he even allow that kind of deal or what was werner thinking before allowing that kind of deal.

We have got lots of people on board who needs to be removed as soon as possible no one in their right mind could sanction deals of carroll or downing or Allen or Borini and accept to pay that kind of fees, if these people are not removed then our problems will continue paying over the ods for mediocore talent and Liverpool will suffer more.

We went down hill after losing sir john smith and his head for business

20 Mar 2013 18:38:11
Hey everyone, what's your opinions on actually giving Coates a run of games next season in the 1st team now that carragher is retiring at the end of the season? We haven't seen what he is capable of because he's never had a run in the team really! His confidence must be at an all time Low at the moment, no wonder he didn't play well when he's picked, He's one of the highest rated young defenders in the world and won the young player of the copa America when Uruguay won the tournament! What u guys think?

James

Most of his limited first team opportunities have been in cup games in a weakened side.
It would be a good idea to have a look at him over 3 or 4 games in a strong side, right now before this seasons out.
I think I'm right in saying that he's never played alongside the regular back players in Agger, Johson and Enrique together.
So you can't say he's had a fair crack at it.
The back four plays as a unit and even the best players would need to play alongside the regular experienced players to show their best.

Coates isn't suited to the english game, end of. Decent player but too slow and clumsey. He might do better in Italy or Spain. I say get the money for him now and get someone else like Dejan Lovren.

And put Dejan Lovren in cup games to begin with alongside inexperienced 17, 18, 19, 20 yr olds in defence, midfield and upfront and if he doesn't shine get rid of him as well and start again.

20 Mar 2013 18:36:35
Good Evening Eds, just a Quick Question, Do You see any of the Reserves/Youth Players making the step up to the First team next Season? and who in your Opinion is Capable of making the Grade? I feel we have very Talented young players who are just waiting for a chance instead of spending Millions on Bringing in some other clubs Youth. what yas think? concon {Ed002's Note - Done to death - try the search engine.}

20 Mar 2013 18:17:22
Not LFC related but with a big exodus of players from Bayern I was just thinking about where Gomez would be playing his football next season. Quality player and will surely have no shortage of suitors. Jimbo

20 Mar 2013 17:30:02
I suggested putting a full back on one of the posts at free kicks to minimize the risk of deflected or goal bound shots the keeper can't reach (aka St. Marys) but some fans disagree, which is fine, but could they give an alternative? every time the opposition get a free kick or corner my heart is in my mouth, we can't defend them, so what is the answer?

There's a difference in defending free kicks and corners.

Dominant keeper and centre half? Simples.
Carra in particular and Agger are not great headers of the ball and Pepe has always been a good shot stopper but never dominates from corners and free kicks played into the box.
Full backs are mostly not great headers of the ball Baines, Cole, Johnson and Enrique as an example all great fullbacks but not great in the air.
English Premier you need a really dominant header of the ball to succeed.
Look at the soft goals we conceded against Spurs, we concede a lot of that type of goal.

Simple!! Don't have a wall, no-one to block keepers view, less chance of deflection of wall, just my view mate

If you don't have a wall then the opposition create one instead and use it to their advantage.

Having defenders on the post allows offensive players to exploit it with the offsides rule. They can push up to our goal line now and could even stand in front of keeper obstructing view further. Just not the best move when it could be avoided by keeping a higher defensive line and wall.

Defenders on posts defending corners I agree with if it is a good tactic against a stronger opponent in the air.

Redgeorge I can relate to your ill feelings when we get in these situations. I have little faith in our ability this year defending corners. I've lost some hair from it for sure.

21 Mar 2013 10:24:58
I think when Meirles was here, he is used dtand near post for corners and even cleared 3 - 4 times in that season

In recent seasons three players have virtually carried us, Carra, Stevie G and Suarez, I really hope that in the summer the board pull out all the stops to make sure its only Carra that we miss next season.

99redballoons

Carra has never carried us!

Your over egging Carra's contribution,
since Carra got back in the side we have conceded plenty.
Not knocking Carra just stating a fact, probably wouldn't be any better with Skyrtel there.
But our defence at this minute is not great with Carra there.
Hence my statement your over egging his contribution and effectiveness.

20 Mar 2013 16:44:46
Hello eds,
How are you eds, hope everything is fine at your end.

In case of Suarez's departure eds, do you have any idea of striker who plays like him. I mean in terms of movement and work ethic. Someone who can fill his void.
Just asking as you have a larger understanding of players and styles. I wish he doesn't leave in first place.

Arpit {Ed002's Note - Suarez is playing well and if he were to leave he will no doubt be very difficult to replace.}

There are a few who are similar to him. Stefan Jovetic, Antonio di Natale, Antonio Cassano are a few who come to mind.

But they are either too old now or too expensive and ofcourse we have not shown interest in any of them.

The real AG

For what we could attract with not being in Europe he is irreplaceable.

If he is sold and the money is invested into the team wisely it might be a good thing.

For me if fsg allow him to go it shows the actual ambition they have for us, not much. He is under contract so they can make him stay.

20 Mar 2013 15:27:43
Alright eds/regular posters, i'm only 18 so I've no real knowledge of Roy Evans but everyone speaks so highly about him. Just wanting to know if anyone can give me an insight into what he was like as a manager?
cheers, redgrant

Imagine Dumbledore with a short back and sides

I think Ed 001 will be best to answer this one for you Redgrant.
The season he took over (mid way - In January I think), we were a shamble and nothing was going right for us, but he had an instant impact and we managed to finish well.
In his first full season we finished 4th playing some fantastic football, it helped that we had some very good flair players that liked to keep the ball, pass and move etc. But unfortunately its these same players that caused the downfall (or maybe this is too strong a term) of Roy. The Spice boys had a lot of "off field" problems, causing few embarrassments to the club, Roy was and still is a very nice person by nature and some of these players took advantage of that, which eventually forced the club to bring in an outsider in the shape of Gerard Houllier to bring the boys back inline, "in a joint managerial capacity", Roy the loyal man that he is stuck with it for few months, but then decided it was better for everyone if he leaves, and with his departure brought an end to the famous boot room.

He is a top bloke, steeped in the Anfield boot room tradition and has worked with all the great LFC managers. He was sacked for only coming 4th in the League!

We were so lucky to have people like Roy in our club, personally I would love him back along with Kenny in some ambassadorial role maybe?
A very knowledgeable, decent and genuine guy in summary

Tel 1949

I'd let the bloke manage the club

20 Mar 2013 22:55:45
No chris especially what happend with Dalglish, younger fans have no respect for Legends and are totaly spoilt brat, bringing another legend won't work in fact his reputation will be tarnished, Dalglish gets abuse day and night here do you want another Great man to be treated the same way? Footy has moved on so has Liverpool fc and its fans. {Ed001's Note - I love Roy Evans, lovely man, one of the best coaches in the world and a better manager than he was given the chance to be. Having said that, I fully agree with you that the modern day fan does not deserve him, they would hound him out of the club. Bring him back as a coach, but not manager, he deserves better and recognition as one of the main factors in our years of success.}

He wasn't ruthless enough, I was at the FA Cup final against Manutd, he never brought any subs on or changed anything he just did nothing to change it.
Apart from that final, I really rated him but never really rated Houlliers brand of football.
Evans would have managed us to the Premier League title only for the erratic David James.
This forward line that we currently have is the most talented, since Evans put Fowler, Collymore and McMannaman together.

Is it me, or did it all go tits for Rafa when he lost Paco?

Whats Paco doing these days? Saw him on revista a season or so back.

Apples'96'

No it went tits up when we lost alonso and had 2 defensive mids as midfielders

When City blew us out the water on wages for Barry, when Rafa then told owners to make sure City didn't get Johnson otherwise we might as well run up the white flag and when the budget goalposts moved for Rafa. We were left with an unbalanced, inferior team and as the Hicks and Gillette era ended we flogged off the family silver to stave off administration. Read an Epic Swindle - its all in there. Rafa haters will maybe not love him but they'll certainly understand what an impossible situation he was in. He fought for the club and Ill always respect him for that.
Kidder

Yes when we sold alonso it was part of the reason we went downhill but it wasn't the only reason, rafa needs to take the blame along with the rubbish players he bought! We came so close on winning the league that year and then Afew players came out the season after in the papers having digs at Benitez for his bad management and treatment of them! Rafa clearly lost the plot paying stupid wages to rubbish players! I'm glad he was sacked, but then the worst possible appointment was made in Roy Hodgson, and people wonder why we are in such a state, Rodgers has a big job trying to sort out the mess we are in

Rogers is not the manager we need if we are to get back to the top we gambled on bad expensive unproven players and now a unproven manager get a grip lfc we need the best of every thing from now on or we are going to become an also ran.

Rafa has learned lessons and I think he would be better for us than what we have.

I'd love a summer of come backs. People say always look to the future, but some of our old guard could do a good job.

I would love Roy Evans to be handed some sort of footballing role. Be that an accademy role, or even a director of football. I reading about how he was treated, and it was under him we brought through the greatest crop of talent out accademy has arguably ever seen.

Xavi Valero. The way he developed the game of Torres and Reina was sensational. He made Reina second only to Cassillas, and Torres the most feared striker on earth. Both players gave him massive credit to there form between 2007 and 2010. He has to replace Achterburg who is (judging keeper performances) doing a relatively poor job.

Only other return I'd love to see, is someone barely out the door! Carragher as a defensive coach. He can be a an inspiration to anyone, and is the greatest one club man of all time in my opinion. It easy to stick by one team if you are a supporter (Gerrard) or a you are constantly winning (Giggs), but for a Bluenose, to display such Loyalty to the mighty Reds, and stick by us for nearly 3 decades, virtually dying on the field in Istanbull. He is the greatest in my opinion. If the game had not become so reliant on pace nowadays, he'd have trashed the all time appearance record for Liverpool. I don't want him just pushed out the door.

The likes of Alonso are fantasy. He is nearly 32 I think. Although he could easily play to 40 in the role he plays, I can't see the owners sanctioing a move. I'd jump at the chance personally, but this is football.

When you have a past as rich as ours, there is nothing wrong with occasionally looking back.

YNWA! (Adam)

Great to have all these comebacks but remember they will be working with bad players such as Henderson, Downing, Coates, Johnson, Skrtel, Shelvey, Allen and Borini - with these lot they could do nowt!

20 Mar 2013 14:49:05
Adam mate those ideas look good on paper but not possible in reality, now we have Rodgers who has brought his own staffs and has his on ideas how he wants to run our club interms of playing side, he made it clear that he doesn't want DOf and his happy with the staffs he brought, his very stubborn his not going to change his approach anytime soon.

Rodgers is very stubborn, he is also very boring and does not seem as though he could pass on any enthusiasm to anyone, that's why there are rumours of bust-ups behind the scenes.

Bad players?

Glen Johnson? Skittles? Even Henderson who has been showing signs of improvement?

Get a grip!

The sort of thinking that got LFC into its current position. Sentimental claptrap and financial and footballing suicide.

20 Mar 2013 17:43:26
Macko glen Johnson is crap mate.

20 Mar 2013 17:52:06
Mate Rodgers is very strubborn, he thinks he knows footy then anyother manager/coach and that will be his downfall at Liverpool. His a very good young manager in my opinion but his ego is bigger then his talent and I doubt he can work with other people or take advice from outside unless your his puppet or you have worked with him.

20 Mar 2013 18:12:51
Haha adam mate are you kidding? Rodgers is not going to work with people who have different ideas or who can advice him, his very stubborn and has a big ego that can not bare anything or anyone questioning him, when he was appointed he made it clear that he won't work with Dof and doesn't need any experience as he already have 20 years of experience.

The manager has to be the one making the decisions on the team so if anyone is to come in they need to be brought in by Rodgers.

20 Mar 2013 12:18:13
people slating Kenny because he got a big pay off as do all managers as would we if offered it, the man has been an absolute legend for this great club as a player to the same standards of gerrard of recent times. And i'm sure that no one more gutted than Kenny himself it didn't work but that's just it it didn't work move on, and the good things Kenny did for us far outweighs the bad and anyone who doesn't agree your wrong, the dimise of our club cannot be placed on the shoulders of Kenny it started before and I genuinely believe in 2 to 3 years with fsg at the helm we will get back to where we belong fsg said the way they would do things when they came in and r doing so there is no quick fix unless of couse they do what hicks and Gillette did and correct me if i'm wrong isn't that when things went really pear shaped

Dont get me wrong Kenny was a legend but at the same time he ruined our club with the buys he made and the money he wasted.

Go and boil your head having ago at the King like that.

BR has be a genius in the transfer market hasn't he, all his buys are gems and worth double what he paid. Boroni, Allen, Assiadi and Sahin who probably would have been his best bit of business he let's go because of a fallout.

Get real.

Henderson has the chance to be a great player, Downing has improved, his only major flop was Carroll but the signing of Suarez has covered that loss with what he worth, please many forget that Torres was sold for £50m.

Some fans.

Not sure anyone of us have the right to slate Kenny.
For all he has achieved at this club, Carroll was the only poor signing and I think in some ways he needed to bring in a marque signing following the departure of Torres.
The rest of KKs players have been quality, especially if you compare them to some of BRs current buys
G

Kenny bought Suarez, arguably one of our finest ever strikers. so he bought some overpriced good young talent like Henderson etc. so what?
The man is a legend and no real supporter would ever consider slagging him off.

He took us to two Wembley finals in his FIRST year back, and gave us Europa league qualification as well. He brought us hope when there wwas none. He is our king, be proud of the fact that he is ours.

Tel 1949

"ruined our club"

Some people!

The man takes over a job which no-one else wanted, the club in free fall, best player jumps ship a few weeks later and he still turns it around, finishes strongly and then wins the club a trophy in his first full season, the first trophy in 7 seasons.
And some clowns say he ruined the club.

It's winning trophies which made this club what it is. Some so-called fans would do well to remember that!

To all these people slagging off king Kenny, he was a legend before he came back, and he's a legend now, yes he said he wanted Carroll, he didn't say how much to pay, hendo's going to be worth every penny of his transfer fee in a couple of years and downing isn't as bad a signing as people think, payed too much but he's English, what do you expect. And don't forget he also signed Enrique and Suarez, won a cup, nearly won a second, what he needed was another season, long live the king

"I thank God I have left Rodgers. " - Nuri Sahin.

Patvmove

I'm sure the feeling is mutual.

20 Mar 2013 15:09:50
rodger gave too early on sahin if he can trust give allen so much oppurtunity he could have given sahin some game time in his preferred position.

He could have been great in his preferred position, would have loved to see him get a real chance there and feel it was such a waste of a potential world class player, a player who if we could have treated better, would possibly have come permanently.
Similar to the Aquilani situation, potential to be a very good signing but utilized poorly. And what's funny is that Allen, Henderson and Downing have been given countless chances and up until only recently for the later two, have been average at best. Sahin, Assaidi and Aqua got very few chances, play reasonably but then never again for some reason.

Manager chooses his squad according to how players perform in trainings/friendlies.

If Downing performed better than Sahin in traingings, it was logical BR chose him.

You cannot claim Assaidi, Sahin and Aqua could be better. You weren't in the trainings, and did not see them competing.

You now sound like a girl who, despite of a choice she makes, cries that the guy she did not choose, would be better, than the one she chose.

So owen has retired well in my view he was a good player not great for us to be honest he ruined what he had with us by going to them can't even bring myslef to say there name that's why 90 percent of us couldn't care less well JAMIE CARRA u will be missed by the LFC FAMILY I'm not looking forward to last day of the season on the other hand owen WHO CARES

I'm sure in hindsight he would have wished that he had stayed at LFC. It was a perfect relationship and all of us remember the good memories, esp 2001 cup final.
However, he left the club badly asking for too much
G

20 Mar 2013 11:52:31
Hi Ed001,

Just wanted your opinion on Michael Owen now he has retired,

As a player and as a person, his transfer to real madrid and how close he was to ever coming back, that kind of stuff

I know you have spoken about it before but as someone who grew up in the 90s, he was part of the first generation of Liverpool players I watched

Will be interesting to hear your views,

Cheers. {Ed001's Note - as a player? At his peak he was excellent, but he was very reliant on pace and missed too many chances. Due to that pace, he was injury prone and his performances suffered. As a person, I never liked him, he was always only interested in money, when he became a senior pro, he would cajole the young lads into playing in card games for high stakes. Stakes he could afford but they couldn't. He spent more time worrying about his horses than footie, his heart was never in it.}

When his ham string went running towards the kop in a match that was it for owen and I think he knew it and he made sure he made his money for his future he did good things for us, he even wanted to come back, good luck michael but robbie was one of us and still is.

I visit this page most times for the comedy and drama that is in abundance here; and trust me, I've never been disappointed once. I think u guys deserve an Oscar. for the Most Comical Page of the Season.
FairPlay!

20 Mar 2013 12:15:56
Even if we were nominated for said Oscar, nobody who represents us would turn up to collect it, out of fear we would be seated alongside Rooney and Van Persie (nominated for the best Comedy film after their dazzling roles as Shrek and Donkey) or worse, we could be seated alongside Ashley Young, who has been nominated for Sportsman of the year, after narrowly missing out on the gold during his synchronised diving event with Tom Daley. The only thing worse than these three would be getting sat alongside Fergie who has been nominated for an Oscar after outstanding contribution towards charity after wearing a Red nose for almost half a century!

Perhaps you could post our Oscar to John Henry? Finding room to display it might be an issue, as Old Big Ears is rudely filling up half of our trophy cabinet.

YNWA! (Adam)

Brilliant response by Adam. Made me chuckle.

Hi eds,

not Liverpool related, but wonder what you make of what is happening at Blackburn at the moment. Always had a soft spot for them since the days of Kenny. {Ed002's Note - It's just one of those things - they simply removed another transient employee from the payroll.}

Another transient employee indeed - they barely have time to get their initials put on their tracksuits these days. I think Blackburn are in serious danger of giving Chelsea a run for their money in the 'transient employee' stakes

Puzzled

For posters saying we can't compete financially with united, city, arsenal, chelsea. That is simply because we do not have CL football which gives them clubs a healthy 40million plus. Chelsea made an enormous amount of money from winning the CL, edd002 i'm sure would know the figures?
Then there's the point then how are we suppose to compete. When FSG first took over, they took a big gambke with dalglish and DC and we spent the most than any other club in Europe last season over 100million, though IMO that was completely pissed up the wall by them. DC wanted players signed based upon stats daglish I will never know why thought british for the way to go. And I laugh when I hear, "dalglish's signings are beginning to pay off". Adam has left, downing is nearly 30, can have a few decent games and we would never recoup the 20mill we paid for him. Henderson us a good player but is no first teamer arm' and Andy caroll. Whether you like him or not is not worth 10million never mind 37million ( there were added payments to the 35mill). 2 goals all season for WH? These players were. suppose to improve us and they just caused more work for us to do. The blessing in disguise was suarez who to be fair was DC's choice.
The owners are within reason and support the manager. What else can you want? We need a good run next season and we can be top four, then buy players who will take us to the ultimate level

The thing you have forgot is to have a good run and get into the top four you need good players, we don't have these, we have Downing, Henderson, Allen, Johnson, Coates, Skrtle, Borini, Carroll and Shelvey.

They didn't take any gamble at all with Dalglish. Nobody else wanted the job. He stepped in as a favour.

Badstuber, Gundogan and Marin.

No DJP you're thinking of Sue, Grabbit and Runne

Mate though KK is a great man and manager, he didn't walk away from the club a few quid short. IMO there should be a clause in managers contracts who do not reach their objectives to be paid a smaller pay off fee. Dalglishes fee was reprted within our huge losses.
Edd002 I think I remember you posting once what kk's teemination was within the losses. I may be wrong, do you know? {Ed002's Note -Right. The money paid to release Dalglish and others from their commitments in the accounts recently published for the 10 months to May 2012.}

Not so much a Liverpool rumour but more for interest. Arsenal going for Torres in the summer. Torres wants to move but is keen to stay in London. Done deal.

Squirrel {Ed002's Note - Or not as the case may be.}

Personally don't believe any rumours containing the phrases 'done deal' or 'fact' or 'you heard it here first'

If Arsenal are in that kind of buitvess they may as well go in for Owen as well.

Just found out that when we got rid of Daglish he got £8. 52m compensation!

Good for him.

Great man but has cost the club a lot of money IMO, both in his signings and pay off. However to be fair a contract is a contract. Though I do not know why he was paid suge a. large fee. Fergonson is on just over 100k a week so I am slightly bewildered.
Edd do you know much info about this? Thanks {Ed002's Note - It related to (a) what was left on his contract, and (b) a termination payment. But as ever, there is little mileage in pushing for further detail as it will confuse folk.}

So he got a £8.5m reward for himself after he bought rubbish like Carroll, Henderson, Carroll and Adams for a ridiculous amount of money. He is the one who has ruined our club and set us back years. Well done Kenny! (Mind you, Brenda is no better. )

Then don't hire him in the first place, don't sack him, and hire someone better to deal with transfers.
2 Finals and a trophy last year and in Europe.
Besides look at it this way then, over the last 30 years how much has KK made for the club in wins and the merchandise off his name?

Big mistake to sack him then.

What he was paid off is far from being out of the norm etc. it is just what he was owed in effect!

The fault lies with FSG for stupidly listening to the fans and hiring KK in the first place! Look where it left them.

I must admit I found it very funny the rumours on here that KK had given up his payment, lol. I'm surprised people weren't saying he went out onto Liverpool's streets at nights and gave it out to the homeless :) some people just like to imagine ledgends to be more ledgendary than they actually are!

I'd pay the same amount to re-hire him if I could
better than the chuckle brothers

Hey eds just wanna throw this one out there, is there any interest in Milner as he isn't playing regular football at city, plus in my eyes he could play the dirk kuyt roll for us on the wing working his socks off to strengthen us in defence when Johnson goes bombing forward and also help out in attack. What are people's thoughts?

Chris {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of interest in Milner - I suspect he will look to the new manager before making any decision about his future.}

I've been very impressed with Jack Dunn and especially Lloyd Jones recently, looks like he will be a top defender.

Rodgers no longer interested in De Vrij, sees Williams as a more viable option.

BaldyRed

And he told you this! when?

Williams is an average player. Swansea will want a lot of money for him (which we will probably pay) and I don't think he will improve our team much.

BR has stated his buys so far have been based on what and who he knows. Now scouting up and running aligned to BR`s requirements, he will be looking further afield IE the next carr / agger type CB. A modern type of CB, comfortable on the ball but good ariel prescence.

Piddy.

With so much talk of Andy Carroll being our worst Buy ever, who is our worst ever sale

In my opinion it's got to be god, most natural finisher the games ever seen.

Just wondering what other people think

Alonso, mascherano, fowler, finnan

As an outsider I'd say Alonso's sale cost you a lot more than Fowler's did due to the timing and what other players you had in the same positions.

HB

Kuyt, benayoun. too effective at the time to get rid

Fowler was good business 11 Million and he was on the downward spiral what did he do at leeds and City. Loved him but he wasn't the same after his injury. late 90's

Ed001, did Owen and Fowler get along well when at Liverpool or was tgere a tension between the two or anything? Something I was wondering after reading your previous answers about the pair {Ed001's Note - Owen is not the type to fall out with people, at least not to their face.}

It's because gerard houllier wanted to play Owen with Heskey and did not see Fowler and Owen working well together. Heskey better than Fowler please?!
Fowler didn't fit well into houllier's strategy of heskey being the big man upfront and holding ball up and knocking it on for Owen, so the god himself was sold. I'm not 100% but I don't think Fowler and Houllier saw eye to eye really. I'm sure within first few games he player for Leeds he scored a hat trick for them too. Legend.

FowlerGod.

Read the Fowler autobiography for info on his relationship with Houllier.
