Damien Comolli has been very busy today with contact made with Lille (Hazard?), Marseille, Juventus and Aston Villa.

My source has indicated to me that Lille said they would not be doing any business with foriegn clubs until the international transfer window opens on July 1 and refused to talk about anything other than registering interest with the club about one of their players.

Marseille also said that they would not do any business now but will as soon as the French season ends.

Comolli has also reportedly made contact with Aston Villa about the availability of Ashley Young. Villa said make an offer and we will listen.

Comolli has also spoken to Juventus officials who are still attempting to do a deal for Aquillani.His agent has been offering to every club with aspirations in Serie A and he is believed to want to stay in Italy. No club other than Juventus has wanted to do a deal. A clause in the loan deal expired yesterday for Juventus to buy him for 16M euro. they did not meet the clasue and have tried to push for a fee of closer to 9M euro today which is down from their previous attempts to buy him for 11M euro. Juventus look likely to confirm the signing of Pirlo on a free soon and this could have a substantial effect on his move to Juve. I believe that he could well stay at Liverpool for another season because nobody else will have him at the moment.

Brad Friedel is also set to move to Spurs after his contract expires. There was an offer from Liverpool but only as back up to Reina which he rejected because he was promisd first team football at Spurs as their first choice keeper.

Hope this clears a few things up.

I have not made this up am not that sad!. Ive got this from a very relieable source. Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish insists it will be "disrespectful" to his current squad not to make top-quality signings in the summer but also did not rule out a return for some familiar faces.

THE BIG MAN.

BORROCKS. . anyone that saw KK's press conference and actually listened will know that he said that whatever players they bring in would have to be top quality, otherwise it would be disrespectful to the current lads that have done so well. . so please stop regurgitating s*eep

TFOAR on face book

I think its some1 off this site (a reader that is not an Ed lol) that's after setting up a face book page.

THIS IS A MSG BACK TO ME FROM TFOAR
G-Man, the easy answer is to click the unlike button. A little harder tho is to read all the way back to Dec 2nd when we told our readers of the Suarez interest. then when we told our readers of the Torres transfer request 4 days before anyone else. . we took the same s**t then from the no faithers

You though on this one ed

hi ed, was just wondering what would be the chances of us signing irish youngsters shane long and james mccarthy this summer? I have heard their names branded about and I think they will be two fantastic players in the future. {Ed002's Note - There was much discussion earlier. I refer you to that.}

Ed002, ed006 said erlier that he had heard we had bid 23milion for hazard is this true? please let us no

Liverpool will be looking at the following players to fill these positions:

- CB - Dann/Shawcross

- LB - Izaguirre/Enrique

- RM - Young/A.Johnson/Hazard

- CM - Sneijder/Adam

- ST - Long/Wickham

I think if Liverpool sign one of the players mentioned in each position we will definitely be a force to be reckoned with next year. Have faith LFC fans.

Hi ED's

I posted a few days ago that I had read somewhere we were interested in Diego before all these stories started appearing.

Do you think these are now true or is it just the usual crap being bantered about?

I know you were unsure about his attitude and you felt that he could be a loose cannon (my interpretation of how you responded not your actual words)

REDFORLIFE

{Ed002's Note - My viewpoint remains the same. His team have a game this weekend and he is in Brazil - you figure it out.}

20 May 2011 17:55:54
hey eds. Is Vargas actually any good and would he actually fit if we played him as a winger?

Thanks JB {Ed002's Note - I think so.}

hi ed, just heard we are in for lennon of spurs would be a good buy, quick, good crosser and english, have you heard anything about this.
redgerry {Ed007's Note - Sorry, I haven't. Has anyone else?}

actually i just heard the same thing and i don't want it to happen

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

A good crosser he certainly isn't, does alot of dancing and jigging on the wing but the final pass is very poor. He can stay at the lane for me.

ed007 I disagree. . . . .hitman is the best there is, best there was nd best there ever will be. . .

Y we seems 2 disagree on everything. . I say adam is crap nd u say he is zidane. .player who will change Celtic fortune in CL

I say ed001 is one of ours nd u say he is urs nd only urs. . Hope he reciprocate ur approach but will still remain one of ours. .

Real Player {Ed007's Note - At no time in my life have I ever praised Charlie Adam, and as for Ed001, you are welcome to her. She's damaged goods}

20 May 2011 22:23:53
why is everyone going on about we need two wingers. we already have one in glen johnson. play martin kelly at RB with flanno covering and johnson would be an outstandingg winger.
also is there a good chance of us getting diego from wolfsburg because he is awesome

20 May 2011 22:23:08
Who would people prefer competing with is for CL man city or everton?

20 May 2011 21:57:36
Ed can i ask you a quick question

is marveux actually any good??

surely tonns of better options are out there so do you think if he signs it is for the squad and not first11?

thanks for your time

Me14 {Ed007's Note - Sylvain Marveaux is a quality player from what I have seen of him. TBH I am not best qualified to say if he would be a 1st team player or not, depending on arrivals/exits but I would imagine he would get his fair share of games}

20 May 2011 21:47:52
Fields Of Anfield Road Facebook page isn't Koptalk! I asked him and this is what he said: No, nor do we wish to be. Let me tell you something about them; the site is run by a scarborough lad who lives in Spain and charges mugs for crap so called news.
His response right ed?? {Ed007's Note - I have no idea, sorry. I'm sure other LFC fans know more about it than I do}

20 May 2011 21:12:27
To the people saying we are getting rid of Agger shut up. He is one of our best defenders. Agger is like a Terry, Thiago Siva, or Lucio we need him.he will not be going anywhere. Now Koptalk is saying Lille has qouted a price of 23 mil for Hazzard and that we are close to signing Aguero if we can agree to his terms. He is excited to be a Lfc player and wants to develop alongside Dalglish. So Aguero is wrapped up due to agreement of personal terms and it also says young has agreed to sign. So players to sign
Aguero
Young
Hazzard

I've noticed certain Ed's are wholeheartedly denouncing any interest from Eden Hazard in Liverpool. When asked to give a rating out of ten in terms of likely transfer a 1 is always quoted. Is this the same Ed who stated in December that there was more chance in 'platting fog' as there was in signing Andy Carroll? I'm not intending to have a pop here as I think this is a fantastic forum and you do a great job, but can somebody substantiate the '1' grading by elaborating on the rationale. {Ed007's Note - He was probably being sarcastic, we hate questions that ask us to rate things out of 10}

20 May 2011 20:30:50
I'm not quite sure a left back is as necessary now as it was a few months ago. I believe wingers are quite possibly the only position we need desperate solutions to, Adam Johnson would be a brilliant signing, I am also a fan of Marc Albrighton, which would give a starting line up of:

Reina
Kelly
Carragher
Agger
G.Johnson
Lucas
Gerrard
Albrighton
A.Johnson
Suarez
Carroll

Plenty width and pace going forward, and a strong back line with G.Johnson being very impressive at left back and Kelly even more so at right back, a team that would challenge most in my opinion

@Ed007

I'm serious, mate, yes, sadly. Don't know all the details, but he apparently had a heart attack while driving and veered off the road and crashed into. . I think they said it was a tree, something like that.

You're right, it's a shocker, mate. But what we can say, when meeting fate is inevitable, it's inevitable.
We'll remember Randy for the performer, the idol, he was. I can only be happy to have lived to witness and marvel at the brilliance at one of the most exciting performers of my time.

Eds - Would there be any chance in us signing Pascal Chimbonda? He was good for Wigan and he's a free agent now so might be good for a back up wing back? {Ed004's Note - There would be a chance}

His chant would have to be to the tune of 'My Sharona', When you gonna score me some goals Chimbonda?

20 May 2011 19:01:59
Wasn't Suarez banned for a few games for biting someone when at Ajax? so Kenny could work his magic on Diego and he could turn into a very good player for the prem.
Other players that id like to see at the club or believe that will join the club are:
Yann M Vila (Rennes) who would add some steel to the defence,
Fabio Coentrao (Benfica) one of the best up and coming left sided wing backs in Europe, a long term Liverpool target,
Ezequiel Lavezzi (Napoli) seen by some as a potential third prong in an attacking line up not my choice thought,
Eden Hazard (Lille)
Highly sought after young starlet. Liverpool one of many prospective suitors, apparently already registering an interest in the Belgian international,
Neven Subotić (Borussia Dortmund) his is one of the hottest prospects for the future.

I believe that we need to sign some one that has goals in them and i believe that Edinson Cavani/ Falco/Gomez/Hulk could be the answer to that also when looking at Ezequiel Lavezzi's goalscoring record he hasn't got the best one when we compare it to the other strikers i have suggested

ed do you think we could go in for denilson? recently stated he wants to leave. {Ed007's Note - From Arsenal? Wegner has said he can leave. Denilson said he signed up with Arsenal to win things and after 5 years of not winning he needs to move on, he didn't exactly help Arsenal to get anywhere near winning anything. He is nowhere near good enough for you IMO}

Well 'The Big Man' it looks like you are indeed a sado! Your referening to Kenny's press conference in which he did indeed state he would not be disrespectful to the current squad and will only buy "high calibre palyers" (SkySports).
However the mention of not ruling out the return of familiar faces must have left his lips when the microphones were switched off after the press conference.
Will people get a grip!

Hi ed, just out of interest, i heard kk went to meet the young lad we have signed and his parents, , not sure how transfers are dealt with but do you think kenny will be heavily involved in talkin to targets and pushing the deals through?

Cheers, class site, appreciate all the work {Ed007's Note - It's not uncommon for managers to visit young players and their family. It shows a personal touch by the manager and re-assures parents their child will be looked after. It does seem to be a British trend right enough as AF, Martin O'Neill and Walter Smith among others have done it for years}

20 May 2011 17:43:44
How is it that as eds you all have such different information? Eds 1 and 2 suggest that while there is interest in hazard there has been no bid, yet ed 6 says that there was a 23 million pound bid. Is it simply a case of different opinions or is it different sources saying different things?

This is not a slander against the eds, you do a great job, just a question!
Thank you for your time

Kenny Dalglish claims there is a 'distinct possibility' Alberto Aquilani could return to play for Liverpool next season.

The Italy midfielder was brought to Anfield by Rafael Benitez in 2009 but after an injury-ravaged first season was loaned back to Serie A.

He has enjoyed an impressive campaign with Juventus, managing 33 appearances and getting back into international contention.

And Dalglish told his pre-match press conference: "There's a distinct possibility he could be back here. He's a quality player. He got off to a bad start here with his injuries and never really got going after missing pre-season.

"He went out on loan and has done very well over there.

"If he was to come back here, for me that would be like a new face coming in. I don't know of any deadline, I wasn't privy to the conversations that were had. "

Liverpool loaned several players out this season including the likes of Daniel Ayala and Daniel Pacheco - though discussions have yet to take place regarding the future of those who've been away.

"We've got to assess what we need, and that includes the players who have been out on loan, " added Dalglish. "They'll assess where they've been and the other clubs will assess them.

"Alberto is the highest profile but we've got decisions to make on (all) those players.

"We've not had time to sit down and discuss the players who have been out on loan apart from Alberto."

Meanwhile, Dalglish thinks comings and goings are inevitable at Melwood this summer - but he has strict criteria about adding players to his squad list.

"The people we'll be looking at are of the highest calibre, because the players here have done really well since January, " said the boss. "It would be disrespectful to them not to look at players who are high calibre.

"We've had a great end to the season. There will be lots of work done in the close season and we'll take it from there. Movement is part and parcel of a football club in the summer. We'll be no different.

"Although it might affect them, players themselves expect new faces to come in and give the place a lift. It'll happen and they know it'll happen.

"We've had a lift from our own young players coming in and freshening it up a bit.

"If we get some quality people in to go along with the people already here, that will help everyone. It always helps to freshen up the dressing room.

"But if we're bringing anyone in they've got to be better than what we've got - and that's going to be a big ask."

Dalglish admits some of the performances he has witnessed since returning to the dugout on January 8 have surpassed his expectations - a fact that will affect his thinking when it comes to signing cheques this summer.

"When you're on the outside you don't always see the effort and commitment they have, " he said. "I've noticed that since I've come in.

"I had no pre-conceived ideas. You have an opinion but it's not definitive.

"A lot of the performances have exceeded what I thought we were capable of. That's a great compliment to them, or maybe I'm just thick and didn't appreciate what we had here!"

Meanwhile, reporters wanted to know how helpful signing a three-year deal has been for Dalglish in preparing for next season.

The Scot responded: "I wouldn't say it's been a great help - played one, lost one!

"For me, the planning was going on anyway, irrespective of who was coming in because you can't leave it until the last minute. For training and some of the pre-season matches, planning had to be done. If you're sitting in this chair you've got to make the decision about what you want to do and when you want to train.

"Regarding players, there's only one person who can decide that, and that's the manager. That's something we need to get our skates on with to make sure we get the right players."

20 May 2011 18:09:40
Just a thought. . do we really need a left back? We have Kelly, Flanagan who are doing great as right backs. And Johnson is covering left back position where he's been excellent, Flanagan was tried as left back and looked decent, Robinson can cover left back as well. Now, if we move Johnson to right back and buy a new left back; that means both Kelly and Flanagan are missing out. And I hate to see that. That's just my opinion, what do you think?

need another quality left back we have to get one.

20 May 2011 18:08:23
A long shot but Tevez likely to go to barca, therefore as we need a forward to play on the left of carroll, we have suarez on the right, who else but david villa is available. the marquee signing! ! best mates with pepe reina.

About Diego;

Having snubbed a place on the Wolfsburg bench for last weekend's game, newly installed coach Felix Magath has given up hope of retaining Diego's services, and as a result has slashed his asking price accordingly.

"If a club wants to sign Diego, they need to get in touch with us, " Magath told German newspaper Bild.

"There is no new state of affair, no decision has been taken yet - neither one way or the other and there is plenty of time until pre-season to have a conversation with Diego."

Liverpool director of football Damien Comolli has given the green light to proceed with negotiations that could see the exciting South American star make his long-awaited move to Anfield when the transfer window reopens in June.

He has also stated he was "thrilled" with being linked to Liverpool, saying:

"I am honored that such a club has set their eyes on me, " said Diego.

"They are one of the most prestigious teams in the world. Playing for them would be an honour."

What you guys think?

i would go and get baines from everton at left back, consistent, fantastic crosser of a ball and played in every game this season. we could offer everton some players as exchange, cole, poulsen, jovanovic, etc, that's left back sorted.
sign ashley young, proven premiership pedegree and getting better all the time
Lets go against age profile etc and resign Alonso, lets make it happen pay a little over he odds, with little resale but if it helps bring the league to anfield its worth it.
team next season

ed maybe we should not buy out and out wingers and buy players like vargas who can cover multiple positions?

SUMMER INS

VARGAS-18-20M*
SAKHO-18M*
HONDA-14M OR
DIEGO-9M OR*
MATA-22M
M, VILLA-15M OR*
MATUIDI-10M

MY TEAM WOULD BE A TOTAL COST OF 62M
TOTAL 89M MAX

STARTING 11 FOR NEXT SEASON

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . REINA. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

. . . . . . KELLY. . . . . .SAKHO. . . . . AGGER. . . . . . .

JOHNSON. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .VARGAS

. . . . . . . . . .GERRARD. . .M, VILLA/MATUIDI. . . . . .

. . . . . . . . . . HONDA/DIEGO/MATA. . . . . . . . . . . .

. . . . . . . . . .SUAREZ. . . . . . . .CARROLL. . . . . . . .

This would to me solve the issue of wingers as johnson is good goin forward a is vargas. we would have a solid back line and midfield looks a force to be reckoned with, m, villa/mauidi smashing up attacks and gerrards range of passing combined wiv his bursting runs him and diego would run riot if we got his head right, plus we would have 5 players there who are all good at set pieces. combine these signings with youth aswell and the future looks bright and RED. and with this formation would allow us to switch to different formations very easily. what do you think ed comments on the signings would be welcome??????????

"Chelsea are planning a new raid on Liverpool - for one of their medical staff.

The Daily Mail says Torres wants Liverpool sports therapist Ivan Ortega to join Chelsea's medical team.

Ortega is close friends with Torres.

The Spaniard will be aiming to start next season in the best shape possible after a difficult first four months at Chelsea." - Yahoo Sports

I've just about had enough of that bloke - does he really think Ortega will help him score more than one goal or does he need a friend by his side when the mean crowds start jeering him?

Just a thought. . do we really need a left back? We have Kelly, Flanagan who are doing great as right backs. And Johnson is covering left back position where he's been excellent, Flanagan was tried as left back and looked decent, Robinson can cover left back as well. Now, if we move Johnson to right back and buy a new left back; that means both Kelly and Flanagan are missing out. And I hate to see that. That's just my opinion, what do you think?

"Ed, do you think Gary Hooper or Shane Long would be a good value signing as a squad player instead of forking out mass money for say Gomez (who I do rate highly) or Lavezzi (who I don't rate) or the like? Think either of these would be a great squad player. Also, the news on Alex Chamberlain has gone really quiet, have you heard anything? {Ed002's Note - Would they wish to sit on the bench?}"
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I would like to think that they'd welcome the chance to play for the biggest club in the world and fight for a starting place. And become a better player for the experience, as well as having the opportunity to play for a certain Mr. King Kenny {Ed007's Note - Hooper is settled where he is thanks very much}

all this talk of Sjneider certainly whets the appetite, but personally I would prefer to see either Podolski or Sweinsteiger (or both). Wouldn't cost as much as Sjneider and would be just as good. Also, is there any truth to the rumours surrounding Alonso coming back to Anfield?

Being norwegian and a Rosenborg fan i can say that Marcus Henriksen would be a great young signing who will become a good player under Dalglish in the future. He has great passing abilities and defensive skills. he can be as great as Adam or Gerrard with shots and passing

spot on mate! he is def one of the biggest prospects of norwegian football. Henriksen was a very important player for Rosenborg BK as they grabbed their 22 leauge tittle last season. the norwegian tippeliga has just began now. so i am hoping for a even better season for the young up and coming star this year!

I can't wait until next august when KK makes sure that liverpool finish higher than the scum. But i bet grandad scholes will still be there with his zimmer frame and his hanky to cheer him up

Anyway ed what are the chances of us signing Vargas i would prefer him to enrique and clichy who seems to get mentioned a fair bit

Great site eds keep up the good work

{Ed006's Note - I cant tell you the chances, I would probably say Vargas would be more likely than Clichy.}

My dad just heard from the milkman, that the bloke who walks Messi's cat, overheard the god of football announcing that Barca is becoming to easy and he fancies a year in the Prem with Liverpool. He's bring Aguero with him and has asked Mascherano if he fancies making it a trio. Ed's what do you think are chances are of signing Messi, Aguero and Mascha ? Out of 6 if you don't mind, just to be different.
In all honesty though, I think most of our signings will be from within the prem. Dann, Young and possibly Enrique, although I suspect the left back may be our only foreign venture.

PAUL KONCHESKY, CHRISTIAN POULSEN and the like: these players were offered the chance to join Liverpool FC. As many a footballer would, they took up the opportunity.

For them, it was a dream come true: representing the most decorated club in Britain and a giant in world football. Here was a chance to cap off decent careers (in their eyes).
They came with good intentions.
Work hard and try to bring success to the club and make the fans happy.

Like most footballers, Paul and Christian are decent, humble blokes, good family men who love and respect their professions.
Their respective careers have been characterized by discipline and dedication to their work.

Ever since they came to LFC, they haven't humiliated, shamed or compromised the dignity of the club in any way (like your Balotellis, Tevezs, Torreses, Rooneys have done).
Their conduct has been nothing but respectful and composed.

In spite of all that, however, they've often been subjected to abuse, mockery and disparagement.
Their crime? Not being good enough for LFC.
Yeah, they're being abused and mocked even though it's no fault of their own.

Is it Christian and Paul's fault that they're not LFC standard? Is it their fault they're not as good as Souness and Roberto Carlos were?
Is it their fault that they're at LFC today?
Absolutely no!
Have they cost the club in some games this season? Sure.

But reason for that isn't lack of effort, but purely inability. They put in the required effort but lack of ability.
Are they to be faulted? Only in those instances where the lack of effort was to blamed.

Paul shouldn't be chastised for hoofing the ball upfield, or want of positional sense. He isn't Lucio and, frankly, shouldn't be expected to.
You want to blame someone, blame who he bought and plays him.
Same goes for Christian.
How come you take an automobile, put it the water and blame it when it sinks?
It's not the car that is the problem, it's the driver.

I read a post here where a poster vented his vitriol at what Christian had to say about his hopes of staying at Anfield. The bloke was riled and called Christian some unpleasant names.
Why? Why be angry at and abuse Christian for what he says?
Is it a sin that he wishes to stay at LFC?
Shouldn't he have dreams and ambitions?

Just to be clear, I don't believe that either Paul or Christian are good enough for this club. But does that give me a right to insult, abuse and mock these players, such decent, humble men who've been respecting of this club?
Negative.

It's not fault that they're here and it won't be their fault if they're still here next season.
You know, the way we talk about players and managers, like though they're some vermin, rapists, murderers etc.

I sometimes wonder: if you had an opportunity to address say, Paul, Christian, Rafa, Roy. Would you go about it the same way you do here ("Blondie s**tbag", "crappy Londoner", "Fat Spanish Waiter", "Woy")? Probably not.
The anonymity of the internet, eh? Jaaa!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
You mean he is the best African left back in Africa?

20 May 2011 15:37:57
I wish people would stop linking us to Clichy. He's undoubtedly the most overrated LB in the Prem and Arsenal can't wait to see him gone, as he's been their biggest defensive liability this year, among many. LB and wingers have to be our priority, though. Hope Dann signs and Agger stays, they would be fantastic together.

Also, KD is open to Aquilani's return, so if Juve don't meet our valuation (the new LFC regime is willing to play hardball), he will be back.

20 May 2011 14:13:20
Hai Ed. It does seem like the talk of the left back position has gone a bit quiet since Enrique came out saying how much he wanted to stay at Newcastle. Liverpool seem to be looking at Gael Clincy from Arsenal. Do you think he would grab the chance to come? and what your take on him? and do you have any leads or info about other names for the Left Back position? {Ed002's Note - Vargas seems a good option for me.}

20 May 2011 13:36:49
Man Utd have passed our record of 18 League Titles, well done to them, all is fair in love and war.
But if I remember, when Liverpool got their 18th title in 1990, it was all over the press, media, radio for days on end. This is not sour grapes, but when man Utd reached No. 19, there was hardly a murmur compared to the fervour (spelling) of Liverpools achievement. When Liverpool did it, it was expected as we were by far the best team back then, but it's as if Utd's record breaking stint was not so much expected, but more rather demanded.

20 May 2011 13:35:39
IF Liverpool sign two or three players as mentioned by Steve Clark, then LFC want win anything Get ready for Thursday night cup
Never even dream of playing Champions League football
If everything goes as said by Clark,
I am sure Reina will leave for Arsenal next January ( will say Commoli didn't fulfill his promise as Torres said),
Luis Suarez to ManCity or Chelsi, Carroll, Glen Johnson to Spuds.

I am very very very worried & Disapointed buy Clarke's words This summer could be another boring summer as usual for LFC

ED & fellow reds what did ya think of? {Ed002's Note - I said repeatedly that disecting every sentence spoken about Liverpool by the board, management and players will only end in tears.}

20 May 2011 13:35:12
Aquaman is perfect for the new slick quick passing football kenny has got us playing. He will provide for carroll in the air and suarez with through balls. Aqua could make the difference with his creativity. Really hopes he stays. Kenny give him a talking too lol

DO you think sterling and other youngsters will be used fo rlast game of the season ed? {Ed002's Note - I suspect that a couple may get a run out toward the end. I doubt it will be Sterling. Keep in mind that this is a game Liverpool must be looking to win.}

20 May 2011 12:47:42
. .I know he's never mentioned, would be very expensive and probably doesn't want to come etc. etc., but I've always thought Lahm is excellent, massively experienced and still young(ish). He could single-handedly fill, or cover, all our 'problem areas' - LB or LW . .pretty handy on the right too. Perhaps I covered the obvious responses, but what do you think - worth a cheeky punt?

20 May 2011 12:25:59
I really want to see AquaMan back at Anfield, when he was fully fit towards the end of last season he was our best player.

Unbelievable ground covered and an eye for goal. Young, highly talented but lacked passion under Rafa. I do believe KK will get the best outta him. Raul, Stevie G, Lucas and AquaMan. Very strong CM.

Couple of good wingers and a LB brought in and i fully agree with Clarke, we don't need to buy half a squad

Let the youth come through, hats off to KK for allowing Flanno and Kelly a run in the team, they have shown they are the future of LFC

Diego is another diouf, Juve lost 10m on him, And he has walked out of his recent team a few times. Seriously, Do we need that kind of player at LFC. Talented, yes , But there are better optoins than him. Your thoughts on this player eds. cheers, TJ.

Skrtel will have played every minute of every Barclays Premier League match this season if he completes our final day contest with Aston Villa on Sunday - something just one other outfield player in English football's top flight can boast. -Liverpool FC.

Lucas and Skrtel get more knockers than most yet one is Liverpool's player of the season and the other has played every minute. They would both give their all and never complain, proud to have them in my team

dmedly

p.s. Who's the other outfield player?

20 May 2011 12:05:27
"Maxi and Aguero don't share the same agent, only the same agency the guy in Liverpool was Maxi's guy, not Ken's."

Here we go with the Ken Aguero rumours again - he's a bigger boozehound than Gazza ever was, and it's questionable whether he has the talent to back it up. We don't want him luring Carroll into the dentist's chair either. .

20 May 2011 11:42:49
Can u post in rumours please? I don't want to b slagging off legends but for those of you who are putting a lot of stock in what Phil Thompson has to say, I met Phil last summer at a function and after a few pints he assured me of a number of deals, none of which turned out to b true In fact he swore Joe cole was going to United. That it was a done deal (his words). Realistic targets are kept secret until well into advanced stages even to those close to the club. It strengthens your bargaining power. One interesting story Thommo did have tho was that during the houllier era Alan shearer almost joined. Bobby robson wanted him out and apparently that's what cost him his job.

20 May 2011 11:39:39
I find seve clarkes comments about finding 2 or 3 players to add to the squad hard to take clearly we need 5 or 6 players to challenge.Reina and commoli have come out and said it will be a busy summer are 2 or 3 players a busy summer? don't think so.

KKs press confrence: Aquaman would be ter a new signing, if he is to return, because he is still our player. There will be some comings and goings, and they know who they are. The new signings will have to be better than what we have, Only one person can sign players, And that is the manager. I love his attitude, can't wait to see who we sign. Its a great time to be a red. . TJ.

20 May 2011 11:21:15
Why Bellamy? when we had him he didn't do much. Give the young strikers a go at the academy. We have some great talent, And under kk and clarke will only boost their confidence. But i do agree we need a back up striker. Also ed, is there any rumour you have heard about j barton. Hope its just rumours. keep up the good work. TJ. {Ed002's Note - If you search on Barton you can read the views of both camps.}

20 May 2011 11:13:51
Hi eds,
2 things, firstly any truth to the rumour lille will accept cash plus jovanovic for hazard?
Secondly why are we giving meireles a new contract? He has ages to run yet. I'm fed up of players negotiating new deals after a decent season with years to run, before anyone jumps on mu back and says how brilliant he has been and how much he deserves it, if he plays badly can we negotiate it down? No so we should only negotiate new contracts when the old one is up for renewal.

Mr E {Ed002's Note - I don't know anything about Lille accepting Jovanovic and cash for Hazard - but how would than change the players mind? As for contracts, some clubs wish to conduct negotiations early to keep costs down and secure players. Others will not discuss them at all until a certain period is left to run.}

20 May 2011 11:11:26
Can anyone tell me if Jack Rodwell is any good?
The press have always bigged him up, but I have never seen him put in a decent shift for the toffees on the few occasions I have seen them on TV.
If he was any good , he would fit the profile of the type of player we are looking for. Any views?????

20 May 2011 10:06:25
I believe that Eden Hazard and either Adam Johnson/Ashely Young would be the best two for the wide positions out of all the players that we have been linked with. I believe that if arsenal were to look for a new left back then we should go for Gibbs. I believe that he could be a great player for club and country. but if not i'd stick with Robinson. had a great game but we don't want the same thing to happen to him that happened to Insua. I think that we need a striker to help fill the hole that we have if two players in this position were injured as Ngog is waste of time. we need some with goals in them and someone that fill a gap left maybe Owen or maybe it's worth loaning Barcelona's Bojan who's young and has a lot of ability in him to grow into a better player

20 May 2011 10:03:35
its seems as if Arsene Wenger thinks he has the right to pick the england U21 team. According to him Stuart Pearce has to pick Andy Carroll or else he will be on the phone complaining. Maybe if he concentrated more on his own team and stopped moaning about every little thing Arsenal would be 1st and not 4th.

Noone knows who we are going to sign until it's announced, not even the Eds. Whilst there will be activity and transfer funds, those thinking we are going to be splashing £20-£25m on 3-4 players separately are deluded, those talking about signings of Neymar, Aguerro, Messi et al are even more deluded, and those jumping on the bandwagon thinking we are going to win the title next year need their head examining. Things are happening the "Liverpool way" behind closed doors, the way it should be, unlike what happened when the two previous clowns owned the club. One things for certain, Snoop Dogg is a Liverpool fan, so it's all good.

Oh look just checked my morning paper and nothing about us signing young does anyone think this would be announced before we play his current club try and keep the rumours real folks. I still believe young will come but all signings will be done quickly and more importantly quietly a strange link I have been made aware of from my source is downing as well as young . Torres won't be back and hulk and falcao to stay at porto if and I stress if there is an announcement today it is most likely to be about none player activity for example the stadium issue. Great job all eds do you know if mr henry is still in the country? don't shoot the messenger

Pardon my ignorance here Eds, but I ve never heard of Payet, Matuidi, Sakho and Cissoko. Saving myself sprawling wiki, are they any good on a 1-10 scale. Would they win us the title is what I am wondering?

{Ed002's Note - They all play in what was known as the old English Fourth Division - which in hip terminology seems to be Division 2 and the Conference. Damned if I know what they are like. . . . . :. . . . . . . . . . . . . :. . . :. . . .

Come on ed 2, I've been reading this site for a while and I know for a fact that you know more about French footy than anyone else on here. You were the first person to mention marveaux and payet so I'm sure you know plenty about the above-mentioned players. Don't be shy Keep up the good work.

"LFC desperately need a hard man central defender, somebody who can actually head the ball and stand up to a bit of physical because martin skytle can do neither"

Had my own doubts about Skrtel, but honestly, he has been one of our most consistent performers this season aside from a few games in the middle of the season. I think we can definitely use another central defender, but Skrtel will definitely be with the club next season. He has proved himself to be a valuable player.

{Ed002's Note - Vargas is different from the other left sided players being looked at as he is a proper wing wing back with a very good goalscoring record - although many come from free kicks. His crossing is excellent (Le Saux at his best) and Fiorentina accept he will leave. Arsenal, Benfica, Bayern Munich and Zenit St Petersburg have also shown an interest. Will not be cheap.}

dear ed, which of our listed targets (non BPL) are proper wingers like vargas but on the right side? (i don't watch much european football, just BPL) it would be good to compliment a good left crosser with a right one for carrol's sake. {Ed001's Note - Payet.}

Manager Kenny Dalglish's priorities are at least one winger, a left-back and a centre-back but arrivals for other positions are still a possibility. Some reports have claimed the post-season clear-out could stretch into double figures, with a similar number coming in, but Clarke does not reckon it will require as much surgery as that.

''We have a decent squad here, a lot of good players who have shown that for us, '' said the Scot. ''If we can find two or three players that can add to the squad then that is what we should do. If we can't find the right players to improve us at the right time then I think we have enough to keep us moving forward.

''We've also got the young players coming through - that has been a big plus for everyone at the club this season. If we can continue with the nucleus of the established players we have and keep adding one or two kids and then maybe improve one or two in the summer.''

Clarke is confident Liverpool will be able to mount a challenge for Champions League qualification next season after witnessing the progress at Anfield in the last five months.

''In the short time we have been here I think we have shown a good working relationship, '' Clarke said of the job he Dalglish and assistant manager Sammy Lee have done in lifting the club from 12th to sixth. ''The club feels it is on an upward curve at the moment and that is good for everyone.

''If we can build on what we can achieve in the short spell things will be brighter in the future. I would have been happy (to be in Europa League contention) but when I came here I saw how achievable it was to get into the top six.

''In my head I had a points total I thought was achievable and although we haven't got that yet it is still possible and if we get to that it will be a pleasing job we will have done in the second half of the season.''

Clarke added on LFCTV: ''But I don't think it is right to set too many big targets or goals. We are guaranteed a top-six finish and if results go our way we can get fifth. If not, top six is good from where we were in January.

''Next year we have to look at it but you have to consider the strength of the league. There are a lot of good teams up there. Breaking into the top four will always be difficult but if people want to set that as an objective I'm happy to take that on board.''

All this talk of untested, untried and undoubted talent like mata, Hulk, Hazard et al.
We should go after the promising British talent like Rodwell, Henderson, Albrighton, Jones, Wickham
. .
in my view: once we have our FIRST TEAM sorted then we can talk about promising britsl, plus we have alot of promising brits ourselvs 7 of them are in the england u19, flanno and kelly in the u21 and carroll in the frist team. sterling, wisdom, ngoo, morgan, coady, shelvey, kelly, robinson, flanagan are all going to make that first team england squad at some point in thier careers in my opinion (touch wood)

The only 3 players I can see us bringing in in the summer is Brad Friedel, Demba Ba and Sylvain Marveaux. Friedel offers fantastic experience, consistency and would be a great role model for the younger lads, the perfect backup, Ba has a great goalscoring record for West Ham, in a good team he could really flourish and would prove more than able backup for Carroll/Suarez and Marveaux is a winger, all I know about him. I have no doubt there will be more signings, I do hope we take the chance with N'Zogbia and McCarthy when Wigan go down (let's face it, they've dropped), N'Zogbia's a trciky, pacey winger with a good delivery and McCarthy's been a good, consistent performer even in this kind of season.

How much recent championship football have some of you guys been watching recently? Swansea City have had a young striker on loan from Chelsea. His name is Franco Borini. He has got great movement, pace and can finish well for someone so young. He has also got an amazing freekick style reminiscent of Drogba. Better than the young strikers we have already got in our squad. I believe he would be a great choice for backup to Suarez and Carroll. In the January window there were stories doing the rounds about us trying to get Sturridge off them so it might not be impossible? Just a dream as I have seen him play a couple of times and he has impressed me, as has Scott Sinclair also ex of Chelsea too. Pacer winger with great cross, shot and passing. Just a thought. Any opinions about raiding upcoming Championship sides for their best talent?

I know there has been no interest or even speculation about this, but how about Marc Albrighton, in my opinion had a great start of the season, and maybe come cheaper than a lot of names we've been linked with, a bit lightweight but that could be easily sorted, has great pace and crossing, any opinions?

hi ed's
What do you make of dc claiming that he has had numerous phone calls from quality players agents telling him their player's are available??

lfcscott {Ed001's Note - it is only to be expected, not every player thinks of Europe only.}

I cannot decide what I think is best for CM next year

I think Lucas and more recently Spearing have been fantastic for us, Meirelles is also a fantastic player that has to be in the team and of course Gerrard. However I think we may lack a hard tackling defensive midfielder, some one who has a big physical presence and 'ruffs' the other team up a bit, i think M'Villa would be a great signing for this. And Shelvey also has good potential and needs game time.

If we were to buy a player such as M'Villa, that is 6 players we will have for 2 positions I guess we could play a 433 with three centre mids but that still leaves three out. What are your thoughts ed or anyone elses?

I hope KK has a better idea than me lol

doesn't make sense, it will be the contract extension of a current player, a commercial deal, a set of match proposals for the preseason friendlies/tournament, or stadium news. it's NOT going to be news on a new player signing. It's not the Liverpool way, the season isn't even over yet . Maybe when it's over we will hear more about players.

have it on good authority that Charlie Adam is desperate to join liverpool. (not sure how relevant this is as not sure if we're still interested)

Morning all and of course the ever hard working Eds.

Well look at all the players we are linked with

All I want to see are wingers, a left back and striker, Skrtle has shown real talent since the king took over, midfield covered with Mireles, Gerrard, Lucas and the brave one Spearing - been so impressed with their development under KK.

Young would be a good addition, but Mata would be sublime as he can play numerous roles - even striker

Hazard - will it happen? Not sure, but we are trying; which shows good intent.

No more days of mediocre players - my hopes are high for my beloved club.

Long live the king

hi ed love the site. . what are the chances of singing these players?
Aguero
Turan
Payet
Matuidi
Young
Cahill
Sakho
Cissoko {Ed002's Note - 1, 2, 4, 4, 6, 4, 4, (sp) 3}

Pardon my ignorance here Eds, but I ve never heard of Payet, Matuidi, Sakho and Cissoko. Saving myself sprawling wiki, are they any good on a 1-10 scale. Would they win us the title is what I am wondering?

{Ed002's Note - They all play in what was known as the old English Fourth Division - which in hip terminology seems to be Division 2 and the Conference. Damned if I know what they are like.}
