The new manager will have to start with a new spine to the team. Was reina, carragher, gerrard, suarez couple of years ago . This years spine was a joke .The stronger the spine the stronger the team all the great teams have this we don't and that's why were in a malaise/mess.

Believable11 Unbelievable8

Any new manager will be using what he has with potentially the targets already identified being brought in.

The spine will be created from within. Players will have to step up now!

Mignolet has improved, but I would like to see another top GK for competition.
Sakho, Henderson, Coutinho and when fit Sturridge are a great base. We are only a decent manager away. Turn Lovren, Keep Lucas, Lallana fit and the striker we're apparently after. That's good support to that spine.

Great youth coming through, great potential in Can, Markovic, Moreno and Ibe. It feels terrible right now, but it doesn't have to be.

Get someone in who can reignite some, keep improving others, can attract some quality names. That's the answer. Use fringe and youth introduction in the Europa and early cups, get them to give the manager a selection headache by taking those chances making the first 11 have to be consistent, we could be alright you know.

It's up to FSG, only them.

Agree20 Disagree0

21 May 2015 03:49:04
A spine of Sakho - Hendo/Can - Coutinho/Llalana - Sturridge is not too bad.

Problem is this season Sakho hasn't gotten enough game time, Can's been played at RB, Llalana's been injured and Sturridge has been out all season.

I think we need to consider
1) a top deep lying defensive mid/playmaker
2) a top striker to backup Sturridge when injured
then we have plenty of a spine. just play Sakho instead of Skrtel or Lovren more often.

And the new word of the week is. Spine!

Previous winners have been DoF, klopp, character, and quarterback.

What'll it be next week folks? Vote now!

"We are only a decent manager away"

Probably one of the most ridiculous things I've read on here.

It's like building a car and saying "Now all we need is a decent engine"

If only things were so simple.

And our spine is weak. If we want to win the title, that spine is weak, hands down.

Were a top striker away more like! Its all there for the taking of we get a top striwkr!

If we have any type of budget this year, and we raise anything from what we are selling it really has to go on one, injury free, top striker that's it and you prmote from within!

20/30/40/50 mil on a top striker! Because a top striker will easily add 8/10 points per season, we are were we are at with the squad and players and we have done it all seasons without a striker, you all think man u got above us because of quality have a look ay the squads, we get ourselves a top of the line striker to fit our system and we have 4th before the season begins!

Last years recruitment was for this summer, its all done. One striker is all we need!

Oh and my other suggestion is qe will have the same point affect with a top gk, so either a striker (if unavalible) prinote from within and go and get cech with all wr have! Simples 😊 I love management haha

Two crucial questions FSG must demand answers to:-

1. How have Everton's 4 defenders scored more than our 4 strikers?

2. Out of your 22 signings only 3 or 4 are first team regulars, why is that?

3. If you are a good coach, how come spending 100M in 12 months on players for a team that finished second last time resulted in a finish that will be 5th place at best.

4. Is Sturridge capable of playing a minimum of 30 high tempo matches a season?

RL, unfortunately, if he managed to hoodwink FSG 3yrs ago with the dossier aka 'the master plan' he will have enough b. s. to convince them that he remains the right man for the job now, citing the loss of Suarez & the Studge injury as a perfect reason for his failings.Still talking the talk.

If Chelsea are interested in Raheem, personally I would love for us to ask for Bamford as part of the deal. Very prolific, despite being in the championship and more chance of getting us goals than Origi, Lambert, Borini, Balotelli or Ings for that matter.

Any chance of interest in him, eds?

Eds, moving away from the Rodgers/Sterling/Manager debacle for a moment, what is your opinion on UEFA/Platini 'relaxing' FFP. How does this affect the clubs that are breaking it (incl. Liverpool), or alternatively does it not change a thing?

Obviously this doesn't affect the amount of debt Liverpool has taken on, (though as I understand it some of this is a soft loan from FSG).

20 May 2015 13:42:25
afternoon eds,
Was just looking for some opinions on what might happen in the summer with regards to the defence.
Think most would agree that we don't want an entire change of the players every year, however, the poor management of transfers and the squad has left us with an out of shape back four/five.
Don't think too many people would argue that manquillo has been a success as he has barely featured in a side struggling for someone is his position. Clearly johnson, coates and enrique are unlikely to be playing next year and given injuries and the way players have been treated I think it unlikely flanno or illroi will play for the club much if t all next year. This would leave us with toure, skrtel and lovren as three if our senior defenders, none of which have been convincing at all in my opinion, and even moreno has had some very inconsistent form this season.
so as I see it although we don't want to see whole sale changes, is there really a lot of choice if the club want to step up their performances? Given his age toure is not going to be any better and is lilely to deteriorate as the season goes on, skrtel has never fixed his problems so why would he start now and as lovren and sakho play on the same side I think we do need to bring in a centre back but also look to offload players if they aren't needed as I think lloyd jones could step up for games, and wisdom possible could cover as could can.
The way I can see it the only players who I think are capable of playing consistently at the level the club want are wisdom (deserves a shot), sakho, moreno (if worked on positioning) and possibly lovren is he can re-dsicvoer what he had at southampton, thoughts eds?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know what will happen Alex. I am sure others have a view.}

20 May 2015 14:41:25
Everyone has an opinion ed so here goes ;-)

Lovren is right footed and can play RCB so I'd try Lovren/Sakho early next season and see if they can gel. I love Skrtel's passion but it's clear he's not building any sort of understanding with either Lovren or Sakho and at least a large part is down to him I'm afraid. Lovren has been poor too, but with confidence and a fresh start, I hope he'll still come good. I'd also keep Illori and give him a shot in cup games to see how he develops as think he could work long term.

On FB's I think Manquillo and Moreno deserve more time and Wisdom deserves a shot, but agree we need a first choice FB that can hopefully play RB and LB if required like Montoya.

I think a back 4 of Montoya - Lovren - Sakho - Moreno would be a useful defence, and if Moreno doesn't improve defensively can look to move Montoya to LB and bring in Manquillo or Wisdom at RB depending on form.

Agree8 Disagree5

20 May 2015 15:47:34
I don't think sakho will stay if Rodgers does tbh.

I think wisdom will be promoted, toure resigned and he will stick with skrtel and lovren.

A rb will definatly be brought in, and can will be used to cover both and centre half along with wisdom.

Hopefully a few properly done loans will be found for the academy defenders, but it is hard getting them.through, they very rarely - unless they are needed to cover injury - brought through and if they are it definatly takes a while to get them into the first team. a lot longer anyway than attackers! (I think that is how it is at any academy, it wasn't a critism of ours!)

Agree1 Disagree4

20 May 2015 16:43:08
The scariest thing, if Rodgers stays, is sakho being left on the bench again. oh and the dreadful football and press conferences.

Agree11 Disagree2

20 May 2015 20:55:38
To be honest only Sakho should start

Toure should only be used as cover and as much as I like Flanno his injuries are a worry

Lovren/Moreno should be given another season as they are decent players but no way near the price we paid.

Johnson,Enrique,Manquillo,Coates will leave the club.

Don't know enough about Llori to comment

Wisdom can't get a game for West Brom

And please get what you can for Skrtel

A right back and right sided centre half are required.
Along with a keeper,striker,DOF. MANAGER

Agree3 Disagree1

20 May 2015 22:17:54
the thing with skrtel is he gets pulled out of position covering for the likes of Johnson ( who seems to dawdle back ) leaving the center of def weak ( no other center half seems to see this an don't cover for him? schoolboy stuff )I wouldn't be wanting to get rid of Martin yet specially as we don't have anyone like him. let's start next season with any 2 you want and see how long before you ask for him to be brought back into the side! you will probably see a marked upturn in results too?

Agree1 Disagree3

20 May 2015 22:37:39
Johnson, Coates, Toure, Enrique and Ilori will probably be on their way out. I hope Manquillo Flanagan and Wisdom get some opportunities in the first team next season and I reckon we should get Papadopoulos from Schalke as he will be cheap(last year of the contract) and a natural successor to Skrtel if and when he leaves, as for a left back we could get Montoya from Barcelona or we could get Luke Garbutt from Everton on a free(kinda some compensation would have to be agreed)
Brad Jones leaving is one I honestly don't care about, we might move for Mat Ryan from Brugge or Timo Horn from Cologne as a replacement.

Agree0 Disagree2

21 May 2015 00:27:38
Skrtel is capable of making any great CB partner look bad because he is just aweful and the fact that BR thinks he is our best CB just shows why he and Skrtel should be shown the door. And if I had to pick btw Sahko and that aweful pair, my choice would NOT be that dreadful pair.

Can you please quickly elaborate on how exactly Rodgers mishandled Gerrard? I read through old posts but didn't find too much about it.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - I have no interest in gossip. Try the nationalenquirer.com}

20 May 2015 13:57:26
This comes from the 'BR is to be blamed for all the wrong in the world' campaign. As I said here many times, I think BR should go, I think his signings were very poor, the team looked awful in many games and we just don't show up to big game with him and I cannot see us doing any better than 6-7 next year, at best. However I never thought or argued he is to be blamed for all our troules. I thought he handled the Gerrad situation relatively well, I am not sure he could have done anything different, this was always going to be a very hot potato to handle. I also don't think he could have done much different with Sterling. And I also couldn't care less about his media conferences. I don't find Morinhou's or Ferguson at the time press conferences better.

Agree12 Disagree2

20 May 2015 15:50:11
Gerrard was offered a new contract with less playing time, and rejected it!

Mourinho says he tried to get him whilst at Madrid so wouldn't there be a chance if him.and Brendan didn't get on that he might of left then. He wouldn't leave Liverpool over a manager, he just does not want to not be the main man, which is fine and it was sensible to either ease him out in the team or let him go and hopefully win a bloody league title.

Not everything os down to Brendan!

#bestofluckgerrard

Agree4 Disagree3

20 May 2015 18:54:05
Maybe there's more behind the scenes, or something with how the contract was timed and communicated to him, but trying to play him every game at nearly 35, and out of position to boot, is something I'd consider mismanagement.

Funnily enough, despite BR's statement that he had plans from the start of the season to reduce Gerrard's play time, Gerrard started practically every game early in the season and the contract offer with the associated suggestion of less game time only became public around October, when it was clear Gerrard was struggling. Also interesting, Gerrard's supposed replacement in midfield, Emre Can, only started two or three games in midfield, not nearly enough for an heir apparent. And actually, how many games has Gerrard failed to start this season when he's been fit and available? 6? I'd be surprised if it's many more than that. Hardly excessive rotation or resting is it? So I honestly don't believe Rodgers when he says he always had plans to use Gerrard less. I think the idea of less games could well have just been dropped on Gerrard suddenly during the contract negotiations when he wasn't performing as a DM early in the season.

One wonders if we'd gradually started to manage Gerrard's play time over the last couple of seasons and played him in attacking role instead of shoehorning him into DM (as much he might have enjoyed the position himself at times), would things be different.

Agree4 Disagree1

20 May 2015 20:57:23
You saw how Gerrard played against palace in attacking mid, he could no way have sustained that throughout a season and maybe not even for 45 minutes per game. Brendan didn't change his position to do his head in he tried to find a way to get him in the team more often, and to prolong his playing days. So it was good management.

Its just teams worked it out and man marked him in the qb position and he could be a dm mid without his passing so that change stopped working! And when people say his legs went they really have no matter hps you put it, he was never agile like coutinho (like coutinho will play like he does until he dies, even at 50 he will still rip it up in the over 50s leagues) Gerrard was a completely different kettle of fish, he was fast in a line rather that a swivel, so when he lost that uard he could adapt to other positions, because he didn't have the movement for it and before someone goes and mentions Lucas, Lucas can read a game and therefore doesn't need pace, Gerrard cannot read a defensive game so without pace he couldn't do it!

Agree1 Disagree2

{Ed001's Note - it is only good management if he was changing it to suit Gerrard's strengths as a player, which he wasn't. So what it was is taking the coward's way out of just putting him in somewhere rather than telling him outright he didn't think he was capable of 90min there every week.}

20 May 2015 21:55:14
Thing is Mourinho and Fergie can say what they like, they've won everything there is. Brenden has a cv listing utter failure everywhere and any sucess has been on the coat tails of others. So when he talks himself up its just embarrassing.

You know something, you and me, we've won as many trophies as Rodgers. How do you get to manage one of the best known, successful clubs in Europe with zero in the trophy cabinet?

Agree4 Disagree0

20 May 2015 22:02:52
Why did he put him at the base of the diamond then?

Not aggressive eds just I thought he did it because he believed with getrards passing range he would really be able to make good use of it in the qb position! Did he just put him there and get lucky that Gerrard played well there?

Agree1 Disagree0

21 May 2015 00:30:08
You become a snake oil salesman and a smooth talker that can dupe people like BR did with the owners.

Agree1 Disagree1

21 May 2015 00:13:17
Sorry eds. Did Brendan just get lucky that stevie shone at the base of the diamond?

I thought he was put there because his passing range is a real Strength for him and Brendan thought he would be able to use it.fully at the base of the diamond, and hopefully prolong his playing days with us.

But thankfully I don't work on this website because I was well off.

Lucky Brendan strikes again!

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - lucky? Gerrard was awful there, that is why our defence was a shambles. How was that lucky? If he had put a true DM there and allowed Gerrard's passing range to be used without leaving the defence open, similar to the way Jose uses Matic and Fabregas, then we would have won the league last season. No idea what you think you saw, but you clearly didn't see what was actually happening as the defence were destroyed time and time again mainly because the midfield gave them no protection. Even Rodgers realised that, hence why he has never returned to the system we played.}

21 May 2015 09:22:22
Anyone suggesting Gerrard was poor last season are talking out of their backside.

He's not a DM but in that position he dictated the entire tempo of our game and we managed to utilise the strengths of Hendo & Coutinho for the pressing game alongside him.

Yes, defensively we were poor, that's why we were winning games 3-2, 4-3 etc, but to suggest Gerrard was a reason for us not winning the title last season (slip aside), is utter tripe.

This season, got found out, got pressed, game over. End of Gerrard in the deep lying playmaker role.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he got found out last season, hence the slip, as Rodgers failed to notice it. Gerrard was poor, as his role was to protect the back four as well as dictating play, he failed to provide any protection, hence poor. Anyone who suggests otherwise is talking out of their backside and has no understanding that the game is about balance. But then you hadn't even spotted that teams were pressing him towards the end of the season, so I wouldn't expect you to notice that he was poor.}

21 May 2015 11:01:45
Ed01 - utter utter rubbish.

Gerrard was played in that position last season to dicate the tempo of our play and to utilise his range of passing to the dynamic front players we had.

Yes, playing in that area of the field will naturally lend itself to the defensive duties of the role, and we ALL know Gerrard has never been and will never be a true defensive midfielder.

Rodgers sacrificed the defensive side of that role to get our best player on the ball as often as possible. Gerrard was excellent playing the role he was asked to perform, whether it fulfils the true nature of the DM position or not, in the role he was asked to perform, he was excellent. To suggest otherwise is an unfair criticism of the player. The criticism, if any, lies at the managers feet for playing a player he knew full well could not perform the defensive side of the game in that area of the pitch.

Replace Gerrard with Lucas, who is our best and probably only true defensive midfielder last season, and you get the exact opposite scenario. The defensive side of the game solid, but the game dictatorship lost.

It's not suprising that last season Gerrard was likened to Pirlo on many occasions. Why? Simple, he dicated our play. Pirlo is not a true DM but dicates the play from that area of the pitch. The exact same role Gerrard was asked to perform.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - and Pirlo usually plays alongside a DM because of it, still doesn't change the fact that Gerrard was not protecting the back four, no matter how much nonsense you spout about him not being there to do so, when he was there to do so. Yes it was the manager's fault for playing him in a role he was unsuited for, but that doesn't mean he was great in it, no matter how much you wish it to be so.}

21 May 2015 12:12:02
Ed01 - Exactly, Pirlo plays alongside a DM, so how can you point the finger at Gerrard and say he was poor when it was the manager who didn't accomodate players appropriately around him? (Even that's arguable as we nearly won the title)

No way was Gerrard poor last season. Gerrard WAS great in the role he set out to play.

Anyway. Done and dusted last season. Moving on.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - sorry but you are so busy licking Gerrard's backside you are missing the point. Gerrard was not playing well, yes it was not his fault, but he was not playing well. It is like talking to a brick wall with you, you have to argue even when you don't understand what someone is saying. It is pointless, you can't understand, you just argue because you think you have to stick up for Gerrard. He was not great, he was meant to defend as well as attack, it doesn't matter how much you can not understand that, it is a fact. You are right though, move on as you will never understand, you never do.}

21 May 2015 16:37:47
Hi Eds,
I think the crux of this argument is that people are confused by your stance. You're obviously very anti-rodgers, vehemently so it seems, and people see that colour your reporting of current events. When you criticise last season, Liverpool's best in 24 years, you undermine the integrity of your current views in the eyes of your readers.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I am criticising the handling of Gerrard, who was our best attacking midfielder being played out of position. I fail to see how that is undermining my integrity, I was saying it last season too. I don't like Gerrard having to defend, it does not suit his mindset. Played correctly, he could have been remembered for winning us the league last season, rather than being accused, falsely in my opinion, of losing it for us.}

21 May 2015 17:05:28
But Ed, with all due respect, many Liverpool fans (including me obviously) think you couldn't be more wrong about last season and that Rodger's tactics are what allowed us to come so close. Your current criticism of him is tainted by association to the perceived incorrect nature of your previous criticism.

When you report how Rodgers is ruining the club and has to go I dismiss it as bitterness instead of a fair and balanced reporting of the evidence you clearly have.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I never said anything bad about the tactics, they are simply Bielsa's favoured ones and ones I agree with. My point was simply about misusing the players within those tactics. It is ok using Gerrard in central midfield, but you need to protect him to do so, which wasn't done, so we got overrun and conceded bucketloads.}

21 May 2015 20:49:12
Any one playing SG at DM should be sacked. We all know he was never a DM because he lacks the disciple, awareness and anticipation as well as defensive nous to play there YET he did and we were conceding goals for fun. Also, BR played a suicidal system of splitting the CB`s wid and allowing the DM (SG) to pick up the ball without a soul in sight as cover. Many teams saw that and pressed him and we conceded goals BUT LS and Studge were there to outscore the opponent. In the Chelsea gam, he slipped because Demba Ba was coming to press him, hence the slip. It was not and will NEVER be his fault for slipping. We had probs and we all knew what they were and BR did nothing to fix them until it was too late.

Who are according to u the best defender, midfielder, and striker lfc have ever had and why?

Thanks and keep up the good work :-D

Believable12 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - Defender - Alan Hansen, he was pure class. Not only was he brilliant defensively but he was a fantastic player on the ball too. One of the best defenders world football has ever been lucky enough to have.
Midfielder - Graeme Souness, he was the best midfielder I have ever seen, he could do it all. He could shield the defence, pass a fantastic ball, had great vision, technically excellent, put fear into the opposition because he was brutal in the tackle, decent enough in the air and had one hell of a shot on him too.
Striker - can only be King Kenny Dalglish, though Fowler is my favourite, Dalglish was a class above everyone else to ever play for Liverpool in my lifetime. He was able to create and score goals, shield the ball, trick his way through, lead a team, the only thing he lacked was pace.}

And back to my point were not that team anymore, the f**king players we had! There's noone of that calibre anywere in our team at the moment. No worldys, no scousers, noone that anyone really wants! We can get there with the right time and patience because hopefully coutinho can get into the 'world class' bracket, and all the other kids we have!

As Alan Hansen once put it 'youll never win anything with kids' well if he applied that to Liverpool now, he would be right, we need ready made now "not world class" I'm not another fifa player coming on here telling everyone who.we should get but of anyone in the club is ready the players in cannot have potential for the future, they have to be ready to go now! We've got that much potential that we most probably won't get to see it all!

If sturridge gets fit, were do Marko, origi, ibe, sterling if he stays, ojo, Kent, coutinho all fot in to get the game time they require! We cab only play so many at any.given time!

just like to give a thank you to kevin stewart who was on loan at burton albion.he scored the winning goal at Cambridge on last game of the season.after the game during celebrations my nephew from burton asked him for his shirt, he said he had promised it to his father.he went in the dressing room and came out with another one of his shirts for him it made my nephews day a nice touch from a Liverpool player

He has done well in the reserves from what I've seen of him and looks a decent player, I would hope that he is given a chance next year.

Hi Ed,
Could you tell us what the latest is with Flanno? and do you see him as a first team regular next season? Full back is a place we need to sort out and I'm just wondering what you see happening there?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - He won't be available until some time in the new year. Certainly won't be a regular.}

20 May 2015 14:45:59
Anyone else think we should play him at cdm?

Agree0 Disagree6

20 May 2015 15:26:41
Nope, doesn't have the passing abilities required in my view. Love the guy but if any FB can potentially play CM it's Can. Oh wait. he is a CM!

Just to give us some proportion of how far away from the top of the PL. Coutinho conisdered here by many our top player (I think Sterling is better but doesn't matter). Oscar from Chelsea, I cannot see why he is less good. Same style of play, some control fo the ball same goals from distance and I think he is a better passer. He started only some games this season, in others came as substitute or was an unused subtitute. And was substituted early in many games.
He still scored more PL goals than Coutionhu this year and gave I think twice as many assists (albeit he had better strikers to provide the assists to).

And now there are rumurs Chelsea wnat to release him and it will nto be even a big talking point. Just to show you the difference.

Believable1 Unbelievable10

20 May 2015 12:59:08
I would take coutihno over Oscar, I think couts is just getting started and has more potential though Oscar was the better performer the previous year. He got more assists this year because he has better strikers in front of him. Oscar isn't trying to thread sterling through who has missed countless sitters this season.

Agree4 Disagree0

21 May 2015 00:36:23
Oscar is more like a false 9 wile Couts is your old school number 10, IMO hence, not a fair comparison BUT I'm old school so Couts any day of the week. And to the poster who said Sterling is better than Couts must watching other games. Couts is skill and vision personified and Sterling is simply inferior to him.

I'd be happy with Abaumegyang, Knoplyanka, Milner, Ings, Garbutt. 4 of these 5 on free's too. Obviously I agree we need to take into account signing fees, compensation and wages.
I also believe we need another CB and RB. Other than that, I'd be happy replacing the likes of Balotelli, Lambert, Borini, Enrique and possibly Sterling with the above players who I believe will all be realistic signings.
Instead of bringing in huge players for £30-40m, I'd prefer to give Markovic, Allen, Ibe a chance to prove themselves.
What's your thoughts we?

We all can see that allen is not good enough,markovic and ibe are young they deserve chances and have talent.
Allen lacks quality not a top team player

Kono looks like he'll be off to Spurs.

Agree2 Disagree1

20 May 2015 12:16:57
I would take all the players the OP mentioned except Ings. Sturridge, Aubameyang, Origi, Yesil and Sinclair give us enough options up front. A GK is also a must to be 1st choice and Migs as back up. A summer of Kono, Aubameyang, Garbutt, Milner and a GK would be very good and affordable for the club with the likes of Balo, lambert, Borini, aspas, alberto, Coates, paez, enrique and allen being sold to fund these purchases.

Agree5 Disagree1

20 May 2015 13:01:55
I'd definitely take that

Agree Allen isn't up to playing top 4 though. He's not physically imposing enough to play defensive midfield, but not creative/attacking enough to play as a box-to-box player or as an attacking mid. If it were up to me and we had the budget, I'd sell him and Lucas and bring in someone for the future like Illara or Kongdogbia to compete at defensive midfield with Can.

Agree3 Disagree1

20 May 2015 20:34:17
My original post was just to identify realistic and affordable options. I think these would improve the team and give us the opportunity to still give the young lads a chance. I agree a new GK to be signed to challenge Migs, but I think Migs has done enough back end of the season to justify his no1 place.

Morning Reds and Eds.

I want to ask about Daniel Sturridge.

After Brendan saying the other week that his trip and op in the states was to try and find a long term solution to his injury problems and now I see an article with Danny saying he's feeling good.

So, my question is do any of the Eds or any Reds know if this has been achieved? Has the problem at least been identified if not resolved?

He is going to be vital to us next season and we really can't do without him for significant periods again.

{Ed002's Note - They will have no idea at this time.}

20 May 2015 10:30:18

sturridge will always be injured, its been the story of his career. the op will of gone well but something else will crop up. why we bought him I don't know, and now we being linked with Walcott?! think BR is going to relegate us

That's like saying did people want Rafa to stay after we came second. The answer would be yes. If you asked if we want Rafa back most would say no. Things change, results change. If he got us relegated this year would it have been acceptable to keep Rodgers because he came second last year?

Hi Eds

In regards to the webster ruling that Raheem could potentially act upon in December if he is not sold in the summer, obviously i won't get into the money side of things but why would a club offer a significant sum in August when they know he could just become a free agent effectively after december and then pick him up at that point, apologies if i'm missing something there but a response would be appreciated

cheers and thanks for all the hard work over the season! I have loved reading all your opinion pieces

Believable0 Unbelievable5

{Ed001's Note - because they would end up paying a large sum in terms of signing bonus and wages instead. It is easier to just buy him from the club.}

20 May 2015 05:02:02
Do you think that the issues in the boardroom are related to the sponsorship deal with Dunkin' Donuts?

If I had Dunkin' Donuts and coffee on tap at my office, I'd constantly screw things up so that I could be in meetings and committees all day so that I could umm and ahh over some caffeine and a frosted ring of fried goodness.

I think that in the interest of the club, we should buy ourselves out of the Dunkin' Donuts deal and look for another sponsor like the British Brussel Sprouts Collective or Budweiser. No one would touch that.

I believe rafa is still a big name in europe. We were also a nightmare to european teams during is tenure.

I don't believe even Gerrard would have left liverpool if he was here. Most of the players have publicly stated to bring back rafa.

Most of his players are still here including coutinho. l know he has issues but he has done lot of things in revamping academy, (sterling, ibe, sinclair, flanno ) all part of success.

Owners did not consider selecting him when k kenny left.

Do you think we will consider him again. just like mourinho back to chelsea.

Or he is worser than rodgers,

he has won cups even after leaving liverpool.

Believable0 Unbelievable12

{Ed001's Note - Coutinho was not a Rafa signing. Sterling came through QPR's academy, Ibe through Wycombe's and Sinclair through West Brom's, so nothing to do with Rafa's revamp of the academy.}

20 May 2015 08:58:39
Absolute nonsense. Just give Rafa the credit for evertything and nothing!!! No to Rafa and BR

20 May 2015 08:59:47
Coutinho was actually given more time at inter milan by Rafa, He was then out of favour when he left inter milan.(which actually helped us sign him for lower fee , fun facts :).

Best young prospects like (suso,sterling,shelvey) where found by Rafa benitz to my knowledge. I might be wrong, but our academy has done recently in U21's and there are lot of youth prospects who could make into first eleven.

I think he laid foundation for academy , you won't get instant results from youth academy is n't it?
