When you watch your team beat another team 3-0 with ease, but are still filled with doubt and scepticism, something is wrong. That something is Roy.

. .and we thought we had problems. Feck me, West Ham have got to be the worst football team at Anfield in many a year. They were shocking.

Oh how I wish we had harry rednapp he has spurs playin with the never say die attitude we seem to have lost good luck to him top drawer manager

No way, I'd rather have Woy (and I'm against Woy). Redknapp is like the inbred spawn of H&G and the Glazers in managerial form. Has it ever occured to you that, coincidentally, all the clubs he's managed have gone into administration or extreme financial difficulty once he's booked his one-way ticket to his next victim (Bournemouth, Southampton, Portsmouth and probably Tottenham the way they're going)

West Ham are bottom of the league because they deserve to be. They are gutless and have no guile. Jesus, pretty much sounds like us! We were the better of 2 evils tonight. We are no where near we need to be and its just abosolute b* *sh*t to say its Rafa's fault!
ROY IS THE BOSS. Its 14 games in and hes only just won over 50% of our home games in the league and won 1 away match. Sorry but that's Roy's responsibility not anyone elses! Excuses are flimsy and if we are to be honest its the sign of a week man and not a leader of men! We need someone who tells the boys to go for it and let the others worry us. Maybe im old enough to remember the days of crushing teams and showing no mercy, but lets face it if we beat some one 3-0 at home you wouldn't expect this kind of response from so many fans unless we were looking at the long term future instead of keep the inevitable wolf from the doors with this kind of obvious win.

Observations from tonight
1- Look better balanced playing 4-2-2

2- Clean sheet welcome

3- second half performance was rank. WHU were there for the taking. That could have ended up close to another Crystal palace if the desire and ruthlessness was there, but who's to blame: the players, Roy or both? I know who my moneys on. The importance of goal difference seems to be being underestimated at a time when sides are constantly taking points off each other. If we had scored 3 more in the second half , we would be seventh now not ninth.

4- Actually felt sorry for Hammers fans watching that s* te.

5-Any notion of buying Carlton Cole should now finally be dead and buried.

6- Disappointed that more of the kids didn't get a chance to shine

Liverpool Rumours
Having returned from a rather chilly Anfield, I have to say I have mixed feelings about today's match. Liverpool were very vibrant and creative in the first half and deserved to be 3-0 to the good going in to the interval. In terms of positives, it was good to see Liverpool begin the match with two strikers. It was also good to see Meireles looking composed and comfortable at the heart of midfield, rather than bemused in a wider role. Glen Johnson played well and created problems for the old Irons with his forward running, as indeed did Konchesky. However, the second half puzzled me. Against a rather toothless West Ham, there was a golden opportunity to bring on a couple of the youngsters. Half an hour playing alongside Torres would have been extremely beneficial to Nathan Eccleston, for example. Instead, the only younger player to be brought on was Shelvey, and when he did appear there were only about seven minutes remaining. All in all, I can't help feeling that Roy Hodgson is effectively behaving more as a caretaker manager, than a more long-term mmanager. Perhaps he is keeping the seat warm for Owen Coyle. Having said that, the three points are extremely welcome, and Pepe Reina will never have an easier match.

Why on earth did Liverpool take the foot of the gas in the second half? You go into a match with a -4 goal difference, your 3-0 up at half time & it's blatantly obvious that we could have ran up a cricket score, yet we settle for what we have! Why? Hodgson should have been telling them to keep the momentum going & make the hammers pay. Good 35 mins in the first half tho against a very bad team.

"Three points off champ league spot, not bad for a manager taking on a new team with all the inherent problems of LFC. Xheers for calling me on my typo plastic ed and nice to see you as close to Anfield as always. I'll take what Nando has to say about Woy over you any day of the week. .peace. RED77 "

Did you actually watch the game? West Ham were terrible , worse than a school team . if instead of us they were playing against (probably any other pl team), they would have been beaten 5 or 6 nil .
They made us look good.
I would like to see your post next week after the spurs game

But look I don't want to take it away from Roy, well done to him for this evening and well done for sticking with an attacking formation all through out . I must admit its the players at fault for not scoring more and not Roys formation.

Romelu Lukaku's agent believes an English side will win the race to sign the coveted Anderlecht striker.

"In England, instead, I have direct contact with several clubs which have shown more determination about the player.

"However, we aren't yet at the stage of real negotiations and formal offers to Anderlecht.

"They are an ambitious club and it will be a difficult decision to deprive themselves in January of one of their best players."

we are one of those teams!

harry5

Totally agree harry , ive jus seen on it on sky sports and i think without a doubt were definatly interested , think its us and chelsea , not arsenal because they have van p , chamkah , vela , bednter so i don't think he would get played at arsenal , also spurs were apperently interested but i don't think they are cause they have crouchy keane defoe and pav so won't be able to play him , its between us and chelsea , his agent said " they are an ambitious club " Ed would you say that's us or chelsea? he will play games at liverpool at chelsea they have drogba anelka kalou sturridge so his chances would be a bit limited , If nesv want young talent for the future lukaku is without a doubt worth the money EASY , gotta get him can't let a club like chelsea beating us to one of the top prospects in the future. I HOPE WE SIGN HIM!

{Editor's Note: Chelsea are well and truly in the lead for his signature - but there is obviously a glimmer of light.}

Reading through everyone's wish list for the forthcoming transfer window and trying to read between the lines of the main men, you can get led a few threads.

On one hand you have John Henry saying they like to buy young, promising players that can give good merchandise revenue to the club and have a good sell on fee.

Then you have the manager who says his targets for the window are a CB, a striker and a wide man.

Then you have Henry again who says they will have to utilise the loan option that RBS have offered for any funds in January.

Back to Hodgson who says the need to buy young British players is key.

Then onto Comolli who states he has come in too late to do anything substantial in this window but has made efforts for 'two targets' identified by the manager.

Back to Henry who further adds that January isn't the time to be buying whatsoever and the changes will come in the summer.

To Middlesboro who says they will not be able to resist the right offer (£8M) for David Wheater this winter.

To Bolton who says they may have to sell this winter and refuse to confirm Johan Elmander will not be sold.

To Wigan's Dave Whelan who says he expects N'Zogbia to be gone by the end of January.

Is anyone else thinking what i'm thinking? Lets hope not eh?

We could not judge anything against that West Ham team. . we need the manager sorted asap. . we. . the supporters are sick of dancing on the head of a pin every time the team takes the field. if the owners have any B* *S they would get it sorted. . world class supporters are sick of being treated as if we know nothing. . sick of second class players. . sick of managers making bad decisions and sick of the owners talking big and delivering nothing. . new better ground. . new better manager. new better leadership from the top down to the bottom. . Will it happen?. its not at the present. . Listen to the people who give a SH1T. The ever suffering supporters! !

After my post last night( at about 7pm) I feel pretty vindicated! Yes we were only playing West Ham but we were only playing Wigan and Stoke last week! Funny how the whole team performed without Gerrard. .with a feeling of freedom! If we can incorporate that into our performances when he's on the pitch (without feeling the need to play everything through him 'lest we lose') then the season should be ok! Yes we can survive without him. . but he needs to let the others play and they need to play with freedom!

Just watching the Madrid -v- Bilbao game and i can say with complete confidence that Fernando Llorente will not be leaving any time soon.

After hearing a lot about this lad, i decided to have a good look at him tonight.

31 mins into the game and it's clear to see that Bilbao feed everything through him. He is big, strong and very mobile for a big guy.

You seriously cannot expect a team to sell their big gun in January or at any time to be honest with the way they are set up. Pity cause he impressed me with what he's done so far in this game.

It's just been said, that Spurs are the only team worth watching in ECL. well, if we'd scored 6 today we would have been 7th! Same Goal Difference as Spurs and a win against them next week, and we'd go above them! I just feel that Roy will go into his shell and play too conservatively. We should play with 2 up top, and batter the door down! I know it if's but's and maybe's but that's how are season has been. If we'd beat Arsenal, like we should have done, first game, this season could have been so, so different. Roy's a nice guy but. . I hope he makes me feel differently, in the coming months, but I'm not convinced! Steve1961

Sat in Kemlyn today, and for the first time this season; I enjoyed it! 4-4-2, is the way to go. So, Roy, buy a striker to play with Nando. N'gog is good but not ready yet. We took our foot off the gas, second half, but without Rob Green we still could have scored a shed full. Raul and the Dane played well. Maxi was superb, Johnson had a belter. Dirk just plays well! So, when Stevie's fit we should play Raul alongside him with Kuyt, and Maxi out wide. Only issue I had today was not playing the Greek. He's fit, and is such a threat at corners. We didn't win many headers, in their box today. Konch played well, but I'd play Carra there and get the Greek in. Set plays are so important these days! We should buy Carroll, or Gomez; YNWA. For me Hodgson still isn't the man. Johnston doesn't look happy so I can see him leaving.
But on a positive note, we won, 3 points in the bag, stone throw away from champions league and all the teams in the premiership are playing absolutely awful so there is still a chance. Need a big run of wins now though

Got to be happy with 3 points, but why does roy have to turn a win into a feeling of more doom and gloom? west ham are probably the worst premier league side ive ever seen and roy gets all defensive and negative in the second half. ngog looked quite good with the ball at his feet, torres looked interested but yet roy takes them both off. goals for both would be more beneficial to the team than maybe conceeding one. i just don't understand his thinking. really think we could have scored more if roy had a set of bollox. i know this post is negative but that is how roy is making me feel. he is actually taking some of the enjoyment out of winning.

Great result for Liverpool. A performance to match the result. We're 3 points off 4th. Tough game vs spurs. We need to have a good performance against them and maybe with there leaky defence we may snatch something. Nice to see poulson playing to a mininium standard. Please please Roy play like this away from home.

A result. BUT it was West Ham, a very poor West Ham. For 35 minutes were were very good but took foot off pedal.

Again, like Chelsea, this result/ performance means little if we don't have a go at Spurs.

Imagine Woy will be there for a while, so why not give it a go. . Play two upfront, Meireles is settling in, Torres is showing signs of interest, Ngog is maturing, just have a pop.

Johnson v Bale should be interesting!

I know we won comfortably but roy again showed he has no clue. Aurelio on - Ngog off, i agree he shud of come on but not for a striker when we shud be luking to bolster the lead. babel and shelvey on in the 80th odd minute. eccelston shud have been brought on to partner torres much earlier, and shelvey shud have started. Atleast kelly's replacement at right back (GJ) played to the best of his ability, defensivley and going forward. Plenty of positives but 6-0 would have luked much better and made a real statement. many teams win 3-0, only the best win 6-0!

We all know that roy isn't our ideal manager and his tactics can be inept most of the time! but lets at least give a little credit when it is due. if we lost today, we would all be posting " sack him" wielding our axes and so fourth, but we didn't lose we won 3-0, why be so negative about it? we did well in the 1st half, not so in the second, dodgy subs and all, but we won, and a clean sheet as well, so enjoy, smile, be happy and at least keep a good vibe going till next week, 3 points:)

Good win guys, although think you should have smashed them for at least 6 or 7. Johnson played well, but had no resisitance so i'm not surprised. Poulsen done what he should have done, although nothing special. Really impressed with young Ngog, his running off the ball was excellent and some of his passes were excellent. Dissapointed Shelvey didn't get more of a game. Fabio done ok although needs to get match fit. Here's my marks out of ten for today, do you agree ed. .
Reina. . . . 7 - nothin to do really
Johnson. . 8 - Very good but nothing special
Koncheski. 7 - Average game
Carragher. 7 - Solid
Skirtel. . . .6 - Got to stop climbing on people
Mereles. . .9 - Class act
Maxi. . . . .8 - Starting to settle in nice now.
Poulsen. . .7 - Best game for us (not difficult tho)
Ngog. . . . 8 - Getting more impressed with him game by game
Torres. . . .8 - Stroll in the park, only in 2nd gear.

Aurellio. . . 8 - very effective when he came on.
Shelvey. . .6 - not much time, but class act in the future.
Babel. . . . 5 - legs move too fast for his brain, keeps gettin the ball stuck between his feet. Needs to move.

Mal .

The match was an improvement on the last 2 games by some margin . The team has to improve in order to satisfy the fans . When the team makes those improvements we have to respect it .

In the first half there was quick accurate passing and the full backs were well advanced . I would have liked to have seen Meireles attack more , but we have to be patient with the work in progress .

There were positives to be appreciated in that performance , we have to trust the club to make them count and improve upon them again in the next match .

Another good 442 performance pulled out of the hat, it would be so good if the team could play like that every week; it shows what they can do when they play with commitment and go forward with more belief that the match can be won. raul, proved his worth today, a man of the match performance from him, ok we might say against west spam, so what! we hammered them(pun) it just shows they deserve to be last, and we do not belong in the drop zone, well done lads and roy, keep the good vibe going. ynwa.

Pacheco is one of the best young talents in Europe. I would not be surprised if Hodgson had been manager in 1993 and 1997 then neither Fowler or Owen would have got their chances so early in their careers. Too safe and negative.

Nothing sad about that mate, you have to start them right or you never know what could go wrong. I understand what you are saying on the season, but I just think he has said so many of the wrong things he has made things worse than they need to be. I just can't forgive him for saying a point against Everton would have been a good result. Not a hypocrate Ed just unfortunate that I am about to be blessed with LFC's future number 9 any minute so have reluctantly had to miss our superb home performance for the first time in 15 years. .i would have had my balls removed otherwise. . .whats your exscuse? Id be quite happy to meet you after a game and have a few jars in my local and implore you to do the Liverpool way and give Woy a chance if you want? RED77 {ed's note - work and family commitments moved me down south mate, I am from Bootle though and do miss going to the games more than I can ever express. The site is the best substitute I could find to going to the matches, it is not the same like, but it has to do for now. I fully understand why people want to give Roy more time, but the Liverpool way is to remove those who aren't up to the task and be ruthless in pursuit of victory. Sentimentality is not what the Liverpool way is about at all, and, in my opinion, Roy is just not up to the task, though I really do hope he can make me eat my words.}

Now don't get complacent. Ideal chance to give eccleston and shelvey 45minutes . Ideal time to improve our goal difference . Ideal chance for torres to get a hat trick and further make a statement !
What do you think ed? {ed's note - we really need to take advantage of this, West Ham are a shambles and we are in desperate need of goals. Why can't we have a coach like Owen Coyle, the Superwhite Army are now in 4th place, and they don't have a good as squad as we do. It all boils down to tactics, which Roy has only one, pass the ball back. Who would have thought that Bolton would be in the top 4 last year. We need a striker, better defending, and Owen Coyle next year.

Our home form will keep our season alive. The problem is we have no idea how to play away from home.

What is surprising is that we have scored 3 in the first half. The season is starting to show a bit of theme here. Good, fast tempo at home, absolute garbage away from home.

How strange? We couldn't be more opposite. So i suppose we should enjoy this game, 38 mins gone and i no longer have to keep worrying. First time for a long time! :)

Nice to see a free flowing Bolton team playing the right way and scoring goals a plenty . Kevin Davies and Johan Elmander are really enjoying themselves under Owen Coyle .

The 4-4-2 Bolton are playing now , reminds me of the Bolton team in the mid-nineties that played the 1995 League Cup Final and countless other domestic cup ties .

Surely LFC have the talent to improve performance level , instead of being left behind by forward thinking mid-table clubs .

"Tired of people coming off with stuff like "Hodgson doesn't like him because he isn't English" or "Hodgson doesn't like him at all". Nothing to do with nationality, secondly, no-one at all knows whether Hodgson likes him or not and has no way of knowing, unless there are "sources" telling them this."

I do think nationality comes into Roys mind, just look at which youth players have been given a chance by him, mostly (if not all) have been english, playing Shelvey on the right (he was useless there) twice in a position more natural to pacheco.
A further proof will come in January when Roy will spend 6 or 7 million on wheater , instead of recalling Ayala who is doing better in the same division.

Comments from Roy Hodgson this morning.

On Glen Johnson's return and the prospect of using him on the right side of midfield. .
"Glen Johnson has the qualities to play lots of positions but I have not even considered it because there is no reason to do so. We have other players in the wide positions that we can use. For me, he is a specialist right-back and a very good one too. If you have someone like that then there is no need to consider changing his position".

Hodgson's answer to this question worries me. I don't know about you but this says a few things to me.
Firstly, as I've talked about before, I think it's another example of his reluctance to change and try anything new. How is it that thousands of fans can see that we should, at least, try it. Sure, it's not our job on the line if things go wrong. But that's the point, things have been going wrong. And even at this relatively early stage in the season we should never, ever, fall in to the bottom half of the table.

Secondly, his thought that he hasn't even considered trying anything new because "there is no reason to do so", worries me further. Does he not think anything is wrong? Does he think there's no need to change and we're doing alright. Is that how we want the Liverpool manager to think. Is that the mentallity we want and need?
Personally, I think I would prefer Rafa's optimistic promise of finishing 4th.

Thirdly, Hodgson's thought that we have other players that we can use in wide positions. The mere fact he has chosen those words, to me says; he thinks they're good enough, too. The fact that he has been using a central midfielder (Meireles) in wide right recently says it all. Again, personally, I don't want our central midfielders playing there. Not when we have Poulson to fill that area in the absence of Gerrard.

For me, I want our manager to use press conferences to motivate the players and excite the fans. Hodgeson does neither.
My heart is telling me that I want Liverpool to beat West Ham at least 4-0. My head, and dare I say it, wants us to lose in the hope that it is another nail in the coffin that is Hodgson's Liverpool career.

Just a thought.

Wasn't talking about Poulsen. But since you bring other players into the debate - what about Owen? 17 years old, a good talent and playing in the first team. If Pacheco was as good as people suggest, he'd be getting games atleast, especially with our lack of fire power up front.

Tired of people coming off with stuff like "Hodgson doesn't like him because he isn't English" or "Hodgson doesn't like him at all". To all the idiots suggesting that Suso & Sterling should be in the squad they are 16 & 15 years old for christ sake and would get hammered in the Premier League at present.

Yes both are potential stars of the future and Suso in particular could be a World class talent in 3-4 years time.

I know things are bad at present and the manager situation needs to be sorted but as things stand these kids are not the answer for this season it's just too early for them. Pacheco though is a different matter but another subject entirely.

Also Ed a quick question as most of the idiots on here hold your word as gospel etc, have you (the Liverpool fan Ed) ever confirmed who your sources are or even why your opinion is to be listened to any more than some of the idiots who post on here regularly? ?

Personally I don't believe you know any more than the general Joe in the street and as ppl are desperate for info they think cos you Ed this site you must be in the know.

"Some of the infantile drivel on here is pure comedy! As if Pacheco isn't picked because of his height or what country he comes from.I actually watch the reserves play on a regular basis and whilst the lad is very nimble and quick he is also very, very weak. Whilst he might have been a star at the under 17s in his age group he would be smashed all over the place in the epl. He simply isn't ready and in my opinion might never be. He has to be patient and so do the fans. And as for this fervent call for him to be our undiscovered saviour may I suggest you actually watch him play"

Do you remember a certain 'Luis Javier Garcia Sanz'
The same height and about the same frame . .
He was n't bad was he.

I do understand what you saying, but I do think pacheco will be a very good sub to bring in in the last 20 minutes or so , he has pace and ability to go through tired defenders and cause the opponents problems.

Is pacheco even in the squad? Nor mavinga, suso, ngoo, or sterling. Why oo why do we get the manager who will not even experiment for one GAME against bottom of the league. For god sake roy just give them a game, if they play poorly then so be it. Just give them a chance!

I'm sure if Pacheco or Mavinga were as talented as people make them out to be, they'd be there or there abouts.

Plus, this isn't football manager. Maybe players like Suso and Sterling aren't ready for first team action yet. {ed's note - yes of course, that is why Poulsen plays, because he has so much talent that he just can't be left out!}

I read this site a lot and never post comments (actually i lie i posted one a while back that never got posted)but i would like to put this to the Ed's as they might have a greater insight in to the value of players and prizes.

what would this cost potentially?

Aguero, turan, Honda, coentrao, hazzard, + a world class centre back.

I would say £120 million would buy you the lot easy.

So with merchandise sales, champions league football, Win a cup (hopefuly), sell some of the deadwood and less interest payments.

What would be the layout after 1 season? ?

! HYPOTHETICALLY SPEAKING! {ed's note - you have to remember that pay offs to outgoing players and higher wages for those incoming will take a huge chunk out of the gains. It would still cost a bare minimum 60m, probably more like 75-80m at least, to buy all those players.}

He is 29, earning 100 thousand a week and wanted to be a senoir player like gerrard and torres. If i was NESV i would be watching Glen johnson and joe cole very carefully! You could compare them to the average players in the squad but there the ones who are taking a huge wage each week and not perfroming. I admit we need another quality striker but really you need 4 good strikers in a squad-We have a superstar in el nino and a hot prospect in n'gog but we need a superstar upfront with el nino, maybe benzema but we also need a proven goalscorer who cheap to play upfront with n'gog is europe. I think for this we should sign kenny miller of ranger.
Since boyd moved to middlesbrough he has been on fire, another hat-trick today, 15 in the league at a ggoal a game- hes 29 and for 5-10 million would be a brilliant buy to play in europe or as a second striker.

We will probably have to change tactically, especially in the absence of Lucas and Jay spearing. These are possible replacements for Steven and we will have to reconsider our options. Having said that there is very little difference between playing 4-4-2, 4-3-3 and 4-2-4. Often the differences are what sort of positional play the players adopt on the field and how much they are prepared to leave those positions and create space. We've done quite a lot of work on that. People may describe the formation differently but I'm still hoping we'll cause the same problems to defences by the movements from the midfield players and those in the forward positions.

Just cut this from roys interview, is it just me being thick, but i can't make head nor tails of anything he just said, its worse than rafa." if its white its milk" WTF? ?? ?? ?? little difference between 4-3-3, 4-2-4 and 4-4-2 wat a dick ed,

You should have said liverpool have been conceeding goals when cara is in the team. i have been supporting lfc since the day lfc defeated everton 3-1 in 85 or 86 fa cup final, ian rush scored 2goals on that day.
the problem of lfc defence is cara, he puts the team under pressure with his 'hoof ideology'.
the thing is if you hoof the ball all the time, you conceed possesion to the other team which in turn leads to another offensive move from the opposition.
lets ask ourselves, what else does cara brings into play? we should looking beyond defenders that hoof the ball at every oppurtunity. the best teams in the world play the ball out of defence. {ed's note - surely you are still agreeing with the original poster - Skrtel is every bit as much of a hoofer as Carra.}

i feel most lfc fan should just say it for what it is, cara is not getting much stick becos he's english. . . and let me let you in one thing most messed up british media are doing to rafa, they are trying to rubbish is legacy. most fans are buying into it too, rafa won champions league becos he got lucky. you don't win cups like thru luck ask monsieur wenger or beutiful blue. rafa is a great tactician and a manager but roy. . . . somethings are better left untouched.

No one could ever call the commitment or heart of Carragher, to do so would be a disgrace, but i do feel keeping him for two more years was a bad move.To be Honest he as been no more than average for the last 18mths.We have conceded goals and therefore lost or drawn alot of matches.I am obviously not blaming Carra for all the goals, but he as been the most played defender in that time, so should shoulder a fair share of criticism. His use of the ball is his biggest fault and is now under scrutiny, more so under Roy, were defenders touch the ball more then the midfielders. We are playing so deep because of his lack of pace.My heart is in my mouth at corners as he fouls every set piece. He will foul more than tackle these days. The biggest point I make is stopping the development of Kelly Mavinga or Wilson because Roy will never drop him, because he is scared to.In his present form, do you think he should be a guaranteed first teamer Ed? be honest.

{Editor's Notye: Nobody should be guaranteed a start - it has to eb done on performance and consistency.}

Firstly, I don't think any manager confirms their team 24 hours in advance. Source.

Anyway, assuming this as correct as it seems to be a fair guestimate, I think this team sums Hodgson up. West Ham are bottom, we are at home and missing our midfield meistro. What a great chance to play either Shelvey or Pacheco, or both!

Also, we've been conceding goals with Skrtel in the team, so why not give Kelly a go in there if Johnson is fit again?

Also, why oh why do we even need a defensive midfielder at home against West Ham?! Poulsen is Poo. End of. My team would be. . .

- - - - - Reina- - - - - - -
Johnson Kelly Carra Konch
Kuyt Meireles Shelvey Maxi
- - -Pacheco Torres- - - -

Maybe also a chance to give Suso a run out? Give the kids a chance Woy. Its the established players you stick with who are letting you down!

Who would your 11 be for tomorrow Ed?

Red Gart

you should have said liverpool have been conceeding goals when cara is in the team. i have been supporting lfc since the day lfc defeated everton 3-1 in 85 or 86 fa cup final, ian rush scored 2goals on that day.
the problem of lfc defence is cara, he puts the team under pressure with his 'hoof ideology'.
the thing is if you hoof the ball all the time, you conceed possesion to the other team which in turn leads to another offensive move from the opposition.
lets ask ourselves, what else does cara brings into play? we should looking beyond defenders that hoof the ball at every oppurtunity. the best teams in the world play the ball out of defence. {ed's note - surely you are still agreeing with the original poster - Skrtel is every bit as much of a hoofer as Carra.}

I have read some comments on here and other sites that suggest NESV will not invest enough to compete with the big boys. How the hell do these people know? They've been at our club not even for six weeks, and we haven't had a transfer window yet, so give them a break. They will invest in the right player/ training facilities/ coaches if they are going to improve the team. They know what it takes to win, as we have seen with the Red Sox. They won't buy 4 £5m players, but instead will look to buy a £20m player and bring talent through the academy.

As everybody knows, with anything in life you have to put something in to get something out. NESV aren't stupid enough to think that this team will win the Champions League. They will have a plan, and I'm sure that we will be back at the top, even if we do not have Gerrard, Torres and Reina. As Mr Henry said, judge us by our actions.

Use the young players you total wolly. kelly is brilliant and athletic and can defend so push johson to wing drop that absoloute waste konchesky and bring it fabs or mavinga etc i would bet 2 pints of lager and packet of crisps and maybe some nuts that Danny Wilson would boss carra in defence carra is so past it play pacheco give amoo a chance hes quick and he would RESLISH the chance to play in the first team that boy would sprint his legs off. We're not exactly playing well so might aswell flip the script roy and play the youngsters. They won't dissapoint its so annoying how nothing will get changed raul will be on the bloody wing maxi will be on the left and i wouldn't be suprised in poulsen was up front.
finally i still got some faith in babel :) at least he runs at players i get a teeny bit excited everytime hes on the ball in space if he can just focus he could be great such a shame.

Re; Mal

Where as I doubt that Carragher has always been overated , I thought his succession of Henchoz alongside Hyppia immediately after Benitez arrived was an excellent piece of work , I do feel a 2 year contract for him shows just a total lack of leadership at the club (Hodgson & Purslow) .

The amount of Liverpool players that have been released in the history of the club - better players than Carragher that were still in their prime - casts plenty of doubts over Carragher's contract extension , Carragher has certainly lost that edge that put him alongside Hyppia in the first place - 2004/ 2005 season .

I think a much braver Manager than Hodgson would have let Carragher run down his contract and then moved the First Team forward without him . Carragher could still offer something valuable this season , but clearly we will just have to see what condition he is in next season and wether LFC can afford to be playing him then .

On the subject of Managerial bravery , the players Roy Hodgson signed this season (Meireles exempt) are completely lacking in performance . There may have been a possibility of signing quality for LFC if Roy Hodgson had the courage to pursue the correct targets and implement the right playing strategy .

Instead of looking to the long term benefit of the club and entertaining the fans , he bought mediocrity that he could keep his average eye on without worrying about attacking intent leaving the defence short .

When one considers Roy Hodgson made a number of signings in the summer , and now when we have a few injuries , if we look to what the squad has to offer , there is no reason to be optimistic . Had he been brave and elected to sign players that the paying fans want to see , we would be able to look forward to matchdays knowing there would be talent on the field . However , it appears Roy Hodgson is scared of talent . He does not seem to trust talent . He cannot understand that the team requires 'real quality and talent' to fullfill LFC expectations .

Worse than Graeme Souness as LFC manager , Roy Hodgson has bought average players , like Souness , but worse , Roy Hodgson is trying to fashion a direct long ball playing style .

Roy Hodgson should have done many things better already . We can only wait for necessary improvements .

If some one appointed in future, you will want him to get sacked. You have to support your team not considering who is our manager, our owner, in which place we are standing, that is the sprit of True Fan.

Why does everyone who places their best 'eleven'
include Carragher. He was always overrated and is over the hill. It really is time to bring in the youngsters. We are not going to win anything this season so at least let Wilson, Mavinga, Kelly, Pacheco,
Shelvey, etc get some experience. Even Suso and Sterling though a little younger should be put on the bench every now and then. I am sick and tired of seeing the same OLD faces failing every match. Any player that is going to be sold in January shouldn't even be considered for first team duty.
Mal 27

I can't understand why only 2 people agree with this statement. I think it must be because it is written in correct English and not posted in the same way as many of the comments from the illiterate fans who come on to this site. We don't need to sign too many players as we have enough promise among the youngsters. We just need Roy Hodgson to be more positive in his selections.

A US hedge fund is suing the former Liverpool co-owner George Gillett over what the firm says is a $117m (£73m) debt he racked up investing in the Premier League club.

Gillett did not immediately return a phone call to his office in Vail, Colorado, about Mill Financial's lawsuit.

It is alleged Gillett borrowed $70m from Mill Financial in 2008 and agreed to pay 19%-a-year interest. He later agreed to pay millions of dollars in fees to extend the repayment date.

Gillett and his companies have failed "to honour their obligations, " Mill Financial says in the lawsuit filed in New York. The Springfield, Virginia-based firm says Gillett has repaid only about $430,000. The lawsuit seeks $117.2m in alleged debt, plus legal fees.

Liverpool Rumours
Here's how I see January panning out for Liverpool:
Roy first of all will be given the season. This will keep with the fact that we seem to be the only side who gives managers time, as it is also better to replace staff in the summer, rather than mid-season.
Secondly, Glen Johnson wants to leave after criticism from Roy. It doesn't matter what Roy says, there's been a bust-up and that's that.
Roy is also unhappy at Dan Agger, who accused him of a long-ball merchant a few weeks back. What he actually said was "Maybe I should start playing long balls and then maybe the manager will pick me". Agger has also been touted as a target for Rafa Benitez in January, with our former Spaniard confirming he wants a CD in the window after suffering the loss of Walter Samuel for the season.
Finally, Ryan Babel has really failed to turn Roy's head in the time he's been here and will be sold on for £8m. Surprisingly Man City are said to be interested, with a lot of their stars looking for moves in January and the summer, unhappy at playing on the bench.
So, leaving Liverpool in the January window is:
OUT
Glen Johnson - £15-20m or P/ Ex
Daniel Agger - £10-15m
Ryan Babel - £8-10m

As for ins, Keisuke Honda is a man lined up for a move constructed by NESV. They want to build the club on a commercial level and buying a big Asian player will do just that.
Oscar Wendt is being lined up with Aurelio considering his options after finding Konchesky (somehow) has taken his slot. His fee wouldn't cost a lot and he has had experience in Europe.
Yann M'Vila is another man Roy is heavily considering of signing. It would allow Gerrard to be back 'in the hole' and possibly he'll be the player Poulsen was SUPPOSED to be.
Valter Birsa is being heavily considered too. He shone in the World Cup and would operate as a striker or the 'Gerrard' role. Either way he offers great cover.
Dimitri Payet is being heavily considered as he can play in both LM and ST, positions we don't have great cover for. He is said to be very fast and a great eye for goal. Likened by Comolli to Henry (Good) and Cisse (Uh-oh).
So, coming in in January, maybe:
Keisuke Honda - £10-12m
Oscar Wendt - £4m
Yann M'Vila - £6-10m
Valter Birsa - £6-9m
Dimitri Payet - £7-10m

We have also been strongly linked with loan moves for Niko Kranjcar, Shaun Wright-Philips and Jamie O'Hara.

I am not whining or crying about it. But if you ask questions like 'Can you cope without him?', 'Is it going to be okay?', 'Will everything be as good?' I can only say, 'No, it won't be.'

even when roy tells the truth he's wrong according to some.
The fact is we all know without Stevie we are s* t but when Roy stands up and says it SO CALLED fans will disagree and say it's weak on Roy's part. I'm expecting Tim Burton to be at the ground tomorrow because we are left having to play Poulsen no other choice, seems like the Nightmare before Christmas to me.

Hey ed. In the summer if we don't make cl torres will wants to leave and refuses to sign a new contract. can't see how many clubs will bid for him.

Chelsea - they might need a striker soon but are not spending.

Man u - we would never sell to them and they couldn't afford torres plus they have 2 top strikers there.

Man city - the most likely place I guess but man city only play with 1 striker under mancini (tevez)

Barcelona - there flooded in debt and spend 30 million on villa

Real Madrid - torres hates madrid

so will he go for free or for peanuts in couple years?
I know I will get 20 unbelievables but let's be honest lfc fans. We're not good enough for torres. He derserves to be at a club winning things. He might stay if we get cl but that's not going to happen under Roy. If nesv understood this he (Roy) would be gone in a heartbeat. I'm not worried about losing torres because i'm resigned to the fact he's gone. I'm worried about renia, gerrard leaving and it would take years rebuilding. Our bubble may have burst. We lose them then we are a average team.

To all those who think liverpools superstars are goin to hang around beyond the summer if the club hasnt had a good season get real. Their heads will be turned by clubs that offer them a more realistic chance of winning silverware in the immediate future where theyll be surrounded by players who complement their obvious talent. Unless lfc bring these quality players to anfield in the summer along with a quality manager they will have second thoughts about stayin come summer. Need at least 3 defenders 2 quality wingers a quality cm and finally at least 2 quality strikers to keep our superstars happy and content at anfield. Massive investment is needed.

{Editor's Note: There will not be "massive investment" but the owners have said that they intend to do the best for the playing side of the club, and as such they should be given the chance to do so.}
