Senior Players keep letting us down, stevie and suarez not doing enough up top. Individual mistakes from the likes of skrtel, reina, agger, johnson all costing us goals.

And its clear carragher needs to hang up dem boots, and enrique is poo.

But the youngsters keep performing, borini and morgan shown great promise, jonjo been a boss, raheem class, suso wisdom yesil robinson so much talent.

even the likes of kelly and henderson are still young and will improve.

Have faith people brendan is building us a team to dominate, its like the arsenal plan but it will work.

Was a good performance today in parts good passing great finishing by Shelvey, Assaidi looks like he will be a very good player wants he's match fit and gets settled into the team. I think that was hendo's best performance under Rodgers although he had a wobbly start, Suso is excellent when he had the ball he ghosted past players really hope he gets a run in the team or at least sub appearances every game very gifted player. Enrique needs to sort it out I can see him getting replaced in January or even sooner by Robinson overall a decent performance and confidence boost ahed of Sundays game. Also I don't understand why some people want isco we have Suso it would only hault his progress and be a kick in the teeth surely?

Borini did well today his movement is good when ever he move a defender move with him that give jonjo space to score 2nd goal.

Hi ed
What's the situation with Enrique? Why isn't he playing left back in premier league, was it injury or that br doesn't want to start him.. Thanks {Ed001's Note - you really need to ask? He came back from injury and was terrible so was dropped. He was given a chance tonight to prove his worth, again he was terrible.}

What's happened to him Ed, he started playing really well when he first came, maybe even one of our best players? Has he sensed he's not wanted now and just going through the motions until he moves on?

Keith {Ed001's Note - no, he was wanted, his play just returned to the level it was at when he was a Newcastle player. I just think he got lazy and stopped working so hard.}

He has also piled on the pounds and looks unfit

And here's me thinking I had you all fooled with my new Meireles skinhead. It worked for him.....DAMMIT!

Jose Enrique

Jones - No mistakes at all.
Wisdom - good debut for him.
Coates - good game. Him and Wisdom were the best in our defence.
Carra - Was OK but his age is seriously showing.
Enrique - Nothing like how he was at the start of his LFC career. Hardly done anything right and its quite worrying that he's our only proper left back.
Henderson - was brilliant and showed his doubters today
Sahin - Was brill too and everything seemed to go through him and Hendo
Suso - One of the best in the match. Needs to be 'fast-tracked' into the team like Sterling
Downing - had a good game.
Assaidi - Was good also, but we need to let him cut in and release a few shots because that's one of his best attributes.
Pacheco - OK game. Pretty quiet but worked hard most of the time but was lazy at times.
Borini - Bringing him on was definitely a good decision. He worked hard and was a livewire.
Shelvey - scored two goals and has emerged as a real successor to Gerrard.
Sterling - came on with about 10-15 mins left but he carried on his superb form.
Overall a good match for the team despite conceding 3 goals. The only weak point oday was the older, more experienced part of our defence (carra and enrique)
Top 3 players - henderson, suso, shelvey
Bottom 3 players - Enrique, Carra, Pacheco

I agree fully but Pacheco isn't a lone striker he plays his best out wide left. i think yesil would have been a bit more effective at CF.

i felt for pacheco too because he was pressing from the front but downing, assaidi and suso weren't up to the pressing side of things.

I agree with some of your assessment, not with others, so allow me to post the ones I disagree with:

Coates - looked very solid BUT was at fault for the 2nd goal, think he will get better if given more games... so lets hope that happens.

Henderson - to say he was 'brilliant' is a bit over the top, he done well and, realistically, how we have always expected him to play

Sahin - Again 'brilliant' is a bit of overkill, he was good, passed it around nicely, but there was a noticeable gap between defence and midfield on a number of occasions and Sahin and Hendeson were responsible.

Suso - I know everyone loves him and wants to hype him up but for the vast majority of the game he was fairly quiet. he is young and I hope he will become a great, but tonight he was not as amazing as everyone has hyped him up to be. He was also responsible for there 3rd goal for completely missing a challenge on the player.

Pacheco - was quiet, doesn't suit the lone striker role and it showed, might have been more effective played alongside Yesil as, despite having little impact on the game, was full of running.

Sterling - again ridiculous overkill, he did nothing when he came on. I like the lad and think he is going to be real special but don't just lie about him because you want him to be good. He did nothing when he came on - it means nothing, but don't pretend he was Messi because he wasn't.

Overall - good offensively, awful defensively. Some individuals really letting the team down but overall a solid, entertaining performance. There will be harder games to come, but good to see the younger players out there and given a chance, it will do them the world of good.

Top 3 players - Wisdom, Shelvey, Downing (and I hate to include Downing in there because I have been a massive critic of his but fair play, he worked hard and played very well today)

Bottom players - Enrique, Carragher

MOTM - Wisdom

SMc

Jones was in no man's land for their second and was slow to react for their third. we need better. mauired

20 Sep 2012 22:05:02
good result tonight and well happy for youngsters as they showed more fire then established players...few things I have noticed...suso as few mentioned is better on right wing role nd must be on sub bench to give experience....sahin I believe is far better in advanced role nd should rotated with shelvey there nd Joe Allen nd Henderson behind them...Enrique is looking shaky nd needs to work on passing nd decision making more as looked very bad on ball....but I think it's case of getting priorities right for him as he should concentrate on defence first....wisdom looked good nd very composed...my main concern is holding player nd I think we are missing Lucas badly nd I could see Coates stepping in there with agger nd skrtel behind him...I'm sure I will get slated for that advise but Coates is good on ball nd can play in that role...for future I believe Flanagan might be used as holding player as he is proably 4 th choice right back....nd last not least Jamie carraghar needs to retire as his desion making is getting worse nd he has lost legs so he is easy target nd just living on reputation....Gerrad also should be played on attacking right wing as it would help team with Shelvey nd Henderson process won't be stopped because Gerard playing in their role.
Harry OLdbury

With regards your proposal regarding Coates - have you considered a central pairing of Coates and Skrtl and using Agger in the DM role. RED LENIN

Why use Agger as DM when we have Lucas, Allen, Gerrard....?

Have Coates and agger as the central pairing and stick skrtyl upfront to scare the poop out of opposing teams :)

I think its obvious the two positions that desperately need strengthening.. A goal scoring striker and a new left back as jose has looked useless for past 12 months nearly! Sell him and try and get coentrao from madrid... Then for striker Llorente and would have a very good team to challenge top 4

Reina

Johnson. Skrtel. Agger. Coentrao

Allen. Sahin
Gerrard
Suarez. Sterling
Llorente

I say fast track Brad Smith! he is hella fast and strong and offensive and good defensively. soon will be a Aussie international I think.

I couldn't even see Coentrao coming here on loan never mind permanently. Llorente I can see being a possibility but there are a lot of clubs out there who need a goal scoring striker, namely Arsenal.

BthekingB

Didnt llorente laugh his love-spuds off when he heard torres had come here? something along the lines of "whats he gone there for?"

Thought LFC played well considering the youngsters were carrying several senior players who failed to perform (Enrique, Downing). Carragher struggled but I guess his experience was essential at the heart of the defence. Wisdom and Suso look as if they will be ready to step up soon, although Wisdom was at fault for their second goal. Assadi is the one who looks like he has a trick or two and considering it was his debut, I thought he played well and importnantly...he can go past a player. I hope he gets his chance, as him and sterling could cause teams plenty of problems out wide. Hendo did ok and was more influential in the second half but still lacks a bit of quality for me. Shelvey is the one player in the LFC side who has really stepped up. He looks quality this season, composed on the ball, can tackle, score goals and loves to get forward. Personally I would play Shelvey in the Gerrard role as someone else mentioned. Gerrard should play alongside Allen as I think they would compliment eachother really well. Borini made a couple of great runs and was unlucky not to score. He'll come good as he is a clever player. Borini lacks strength and LFC need to learn how to get the best out of him. All in all, enjoyed the game but the LFC squad as a whole need to quickly learn how to defend better. BR will get it right soon starting this weekend against Utd....YNWA {Ed001's Note - I am not so sure Wisdom was at fault, if you look, there are at least 2 players over behind him that he was trying to mark, the scorer was Coates man, he came forward to try and help out.}

In what way did Downing struggle ? {Ed001's Note - he gave the ball away a lot early on with unnecessary passes, trying the difficult one when a simple ball was on.}

Can't believe someone disagreed with this and agreed with the the oldbury post

20 Sep 2012 21:45:59
team for Sunday
Reina

Kelly Skrtel Agger Johnson

Gerrard Allen Shelvey

Sterling Borini Suarez

Hope Borini plays central and Yesil makes the bench, need goal threats on the pitch and the bench. Oh and I hope Evra plays so that Raheem can destroy him!

Happy with result ,the team put out was good enough to put the tie to bed in the first game.Rodgers put faith in youth ,had a good look at a few players and managed to rest senior players ahead of the Man utd game.

I also like the fact that Rodgers seems to have the team playing a certain style that with time may prove effective, of course we need a striker and but until we get one as long as we progress we will get where we need to.

I predict that we will give United a run for their money as long as we can sharpen up our finishing and cut out the errors at the back.

Keep the faith

Kobi

You do know it's the group stages so the tie can't be put to bed. Jaffer 81

I for 1 am very happy brendan has given youth a chance
Wisdom- reminds me of a young king or ferdinand
Suso- brilliant at keepin the ball just wana see him get more involved n beat peopl loveli playa tho
Pachecco- fink hes not gna make it but du like him

Assaidi luks good needs time,,, sahin gud game soo far
Lukin good soo far wana see yesil nw

If ur gud enuf ur old enuf lfc foreva
Basy
Um...what?

~Fresh
Good post luke
Apart from the fact hes only 5,10 and they were both 6,3 and centre defence and hes a right back {Ed001's Note - if you are talking about Wisdom, he is taller than that and a centre back who covered at right back. King played games in central midfield early in his career.}
Pacheco is s-it simple as, hes been out on loan for the last 3 seasons and no one has made him a decent offer, dont figure

I was tryin to say he looks solid but also comfortable on the ball i hate ferdi d but in his prime he was top centre bak n king like ed 1 said played in midfield coz he was also composed on ball in his earli years
Overall jus sayin wisdom looked good lets hope he continues to do so
Basy

I actually think Wisdom is more a Kompany type player, the fact that he is young means he ins't fully grown yet which makes it easier for him to slot in at RB but when he gets older(mid 20's) it will get a bit harder, but by that time he will be a £20m CB

20 Sep 2012 21:26:50
My team for Sunday:
Reina
Kelly Coates Agger Johnson
Gerrard Allen
Shelvey
Assasidi Suarez sterling

I know skrtel will probably start which is fine but Coates is playing so well. My main worry is the left side with sterling and Johnson. That is great when your attacking but not sure about defending.

Johnson should play on the right and robinson should take enriques place, nothing worse than playing defenders out of position, i remember a young lad from Crewe making his debut against the and keeping giggs quiet all game, take a bow rob jones probably the best right back the country has ever seen

Alan(from earlier), Jordan was excellent, ran his bo**ox off. Geez, look at the positives!

Carra was the main hindrance today. Just look at the half way line 'Sunday League' mistake. Absolute Legend, but his competitive days are long gone. Needs to give that Vice Captain armband to Agger or Lucas..

I like Downing, but he needs to be less safe and believe in himself, just look at his body language ffs! Enrique will come good, just needs to listen and learn. He has pace, strength and technique, just lacks confidence and good decision making.

Loads of positives tonight, bring on Utd with a fresh first XI..

Lee YNWA

Wow, if all it takes to succeed in football is a lot of running, I should be in the Prem! Henderson worked hard, for sure. Couldn't complete a pass to save his life, but worked hard.

What is it with the love for Henderson and Downing? They were awful and were endlessly giving away possession.

Forgive my naivety, but didn't the 'work horse' Henderson provide two assists? He never hides, unlike >> Downing was sloppy with his passing, totally agree, far too safe(and apprehensive) a player at present..

Lee YNWA

For me Agger should be captain but we won't risk it for two reasons.

1.he is injury prone.

2.he speaks his mind.

Henderson couldn't complete a pass? What about his two assists?

You say 'look at the positives'...and then moan about Carra

Mr no name.

I was referring (initially) to someone's comments re sell, sell ,sell..

No need to apologise.

Lee YNWA

Yes, yes. Henderson did have two assists. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes. I wonder if he'd be praised as much had Liverpool lost and his sieve-like passing been remembered rather than blanked out in victory's embrace?

JONES-Didnt do anything wrong
WISDOM-really impressed how composed he was on the ball and strong and pace hope to see more of him
COATES-hes coming to now showed good strenght and made some good tackles and got a goal.
CARRAGHER-passed his best but the most vocal on the pitch didnt do much wrong.
ENRIQUE-good darting forward but a complete liability in defence i cringe when hes on the ball in defence.
HENDERSON-really has stepped up his game none stop running and closing down and made some good tackles.
SAHIN-i know he aint up to pace yet but was very quiet
SUSO- lil el marveloso very sharp really like watchin him on the ball AND in the first team.
ASSAIDI-think hes gone be a huge bargain come end of the season very good attacking player.
DOWNING-did well at times good cross to get the own goal but part from that very average of his experience.
PACHECO-didnt do much out of the game most of the timej ust hpe he gets more games.

SUBS:-
SHELVEY-wat can i say you already know gerrards replacement is waiting in the wings
STERLING-lil cameo for him didnt do much but good player tho
BORINI-good movement off the ball can see hes low on confidence hope he will improve tho.

All in all i enjoyed the game only thing thats worries me is the amount of space between defenders and the defensive midfielders MAN U will exploit this space at the weekend and the defence isnt as good as it can be.

ACHILLES.

After watching some of the kids tonight and realising how good they are I think we can sell downing and even Enrique. We could then buy a world class striker like lewandowski (unlikely) plus a top left back.

Couldn't agree more. Not that anyone played badly but the ones who looked out of sorts were the more experienced ones.

20 Sep 2012 21:08:06
Watched Wisdom against Chelsea in the week and he really impressed. Tonight again really impressed, he will be our next right back / Centre back.

Very Impressed

We have a talent there.

Evered

Coates gets better with every game too.

I think we could sell Johnson and have no worries what so ever about cover or buying a replacement out ranks a bursting with class RB's or RB equivalents

Kelly, Wisdom, McLaughlin

and CB's

Coates, Sama, Wisdom(main position)

20 Sep 2012 21:04:27
The debutants look to have promise, Hendo had a few moments of composure and fwd passing.. Carra im sorry to say looked..well like Carra..wot he lacks in pace he now also appears unable to read the game.

But the golden raspberry must go to Senor Enrique. We all know he likes to dribble himself into corners in the opposite half, tonite he looked liked he'd been promised a years supply of Toblerone or laughing cow..such was his eagerness to give the ball away/play others into trouble.... a liability

Does Downing get an assist?

nothing to do with lfc, but chris kamara should be ashamed of himself for those ridiculous adverts hes doing at the moment, some folk will do anything for money.
jaydee ynwa

Your not wrong, today I stood at a freezing cold bus stop in the dark to catch a train 20 miles then an underground train to get to a noisy dusty building site too crawl around on my hands and knees painting skirting, then did the return journey standing all the way cause I couldn't get a seat. Kamara don't know what he's missing...

Who are you to judge how he earns a living. I very much doubt football set him up for life.
JohnBoy

Lay off Kammy at least he is prepared to laugh at himself and having met the bloke I can say he is a top lad.

Important point here though; HE'S NOT FUNNY

I thought our wingers were pretty good today :P

20 Sep 2012 20:58:49
Do you remember when arsenals kids got a run out a few years ago, and how brilliant and promising they all were... Well step up class of 2012
Hendo..., he's 21 and growing into a quality player
Suso.., a good start
Wisdom.., looked like he belonged there
Assidi .. Promising
Borini... A centre forwards movement and sniffing in the six yard box( note BR)
Shelv, sterling.., all can do a job
I could go on.., thin squad gives all these players room to play...
Future looks bright.
Carrolls gone he ain't coming back.. Move on
Pistolpete

Assaidi's 24, not exactly a kid

We still need a world class striker.

20 Sep 2012 20:50:59
I have to say i thought Suso was very good. Very composed and some quality passing. Wisdom didnt seem to do much wrong and scored a great goal, but he was part of a defence that conceded 3 goals. He seemed a bit slow to react for their second goal. Pacheco didnt do much really, but all in all it was entertaining and we learned a fair bit about a few youngsters. Maybe there might be some light at the end of the tunnell, but we still need someone to step up and score goals on a regular basis. Yesil? Too young? Maybe not!

A good exciting game of football all round, yes the defense was poor for there goals.....jones did ok tonight n could do nothing with there goals really, Coates played well along with wisdom, but carragher n Enrique were very poor IMO, the midfield worked hard and put good shifts in, sahin was good on the ball but faded through the game, I was very impressed with Henderson tonight, finally looked like a Liverpool player, suso did ok n looked good in parts, assaidi did ok for his 1st game, Pacheco just didn't have the service unfortunately and as for downing well what can you say about him? It just isn't happening for him at Liverpool, the subs were quality and put on the pitch at the right time, Shelvy was superb, borini should of scored with the Coates header but caused there defense problems with his closing down n runs, sterling didn't get the ball enough really to get noticed.......so yeah a good start in the Europa league

James

20 Sep 2012 20:46:18
one thing we have learned is that Suso should be played at RWF.

great game to watch apart from shouting my head of at jose enrique who continued to ignore my guidance (i was begging Robinson to come on but was glad that rodgers decided to bring on shelvey, borini and sterling)

Assaidi gives me hope....he is fast quick with his feet and his shots were firm, powerful and not that far off. (great transfer in my opinion)

henderson had a good little game didn't he and sahin controlled it for us which was good to watch.

suso took a little time to get into the game at first he seemed lazy but he was really played out of position until he made a tricky run through that i thought he should have just lashed at goal. and played like RWF was his home (i guess Rodgers caught on to that and switched him).

wisdom what can i say apart from beast!! solid solid player was top 3 performers for liverpool in my opinion.

unlucky yesil didn't get his debut but we needed the win and borini played his part in that so can't complain...

5-3 we scored five ...... five, thats more than we scored in 4 Prem games.

but reality is that was our "easiest" fixture with the group we have.

oh and pacheco pressed well ST isn't his thing we only started to threat them in open play when borini came on. can't fault him though he made an effort.

and shelvey remember when i said he was the next gerrard, and most said they can't see it....can you see it now?

his shooting is on point, his energy that he brings when he came on boosted every player around him that's what a leader does.

one last thing FINALLY WE HAVE SOMEONE WHO KNOWS HOW TO TAKE CORNERS.

Yeah - Gerrard best corner taker but he was not on show tonight

20 Sep 2012 20:44:34
jonjo shelvey has to start in the old gerrard role behind the striker's'
cometh the hour come the man
jaydee ynwa

Does any one know what the post code advert on the back of the lfc shirts is all about. thanks.

20 Sep 2012 20:41:12
Is Borini related to Milan baros? If you told me he was his younger brother I would believe you as From what I can see he is very similar full of good intentions but not full of goals, come to think of it is Luis suarez related to luis Garcia ??

Borini did well this match his movment make Jonjo easy to score.

20 Sep 2012 20:36:13
good result with the team BR put out but Downing and Enrique did themselves no favours both gave the ball away to much and will struggle to get a game once the kids get more experience

Agree about enrique but thought downing was pretty good.

20 Sep 2012 20:23:09
I have to say bar the defensive mistakes, BR's influence is beginning to yield results. I have been impatient myself and expecting too much too soon but there are positive signs and this is down to BR.

I have to disagree. 11 changes so ensure he saves his skin on Sunday. This wasnt bold management, none of the performers are his signings. He threw them out knowing if they didnt perform he could say they were youngsters. Because he has a "small squad..." Of his own doing. jmac

Yea jonjo shelvey

Jmac

Pretty sure Assaidi, Borini and Sahin were all brought in by br.

Also Wisdom and Suso haven't had a sniff of first team action before this so credit where it's due I think.

Granted results haven't gone our way so far but all these Kenny and Rafa lovers need to have a good think about the promotion of our youth before now, never would kk have given Sterling the break he has had this season!

Sideshowbob

Jmac, why do you and other supporters have to be so negative all the time? Are you never happy in life? We just scored a pan full with a young team and played well. Why cnt you give rodgers a chance? You must be a football genious eh pal? And if we get beat with that garbage on sunday i suppose you will want him gone? Just lay off and let him get on with it! He threw them out there to see if they were able to compete and they did so jog on!

Ian the red

Jmac was probably hoping we got beat just so he could have a go at Brendan. Unlucky.

Kenny has sterling in the team last year

Sterling is now another year older

Do you not see that

pleased with the result 2nite,however Henderson,Enrique and Downing were abysmal, all need to be sold in January

alan50

Was you watching the same game as me? Henderson was a big plus night

Henderson run the midfield second half his passes for jonjo hes a lot better than u think
red rrab

Correct about enrique, but Henderson? Surely thats a bit harsh. I thought he played quite well tonight. He showed a lot of passion and assisted 2 goals today. Lay off the lad a bit mate.

Ghandi Floss

Henderson was quality tonight......you a classic example of a fan who knows nothing about football..... Fact

Henderson was abysmal? Were you watching the same match?

R U CRAZY?! Hendo was excellent and I thought Downing played really well especially on the left.

What game did you watch mate? In the words of god himself, henderson was superb so lay off the lad. Agree with enrique though he scares me when hes on the ball, loses it far to often!

Ian the red

Henderson and downing played well, enrique is and has been poor for a long time, step up robinson
jaydee ynwa

Watch the game again.

Henderson played well and got stuck when we played a 1-2 middle 3. But he is still reacting more than predicting like Lucas and Allen do. That takes time. He was better once we changed to a 2-1 middle 3, dropped Sahin alongside him and put the onus on Shelvey to push forward.

Henderson got in a great position and played a beautiful first time ball to Jonjo for the fourth and played him in early for the fifth. Two assists and several won tackles from Henderson in a very decent game for the young lad.

SpudRed

Henderson was our best player 2nd half, get of his back and the band wagon you clueless tool

Dont worry guys, this person didnt watch the game. He just assumed that because of all your negativity before, that Henderson would be one of the crap players. You guys had it coming.

Evening eds and fellow reds...

I have a question for eds002

With lfc in desperate need of a striker, what r the chances of lfc recalling Carroll back?

Cheers, jack {Ed002's Note - I really don't know the provisions of his loan but certainly he will not be able to be recalled before January.}

20 Sep 2012 20:15:10
Plus points, Jonjo, Hendo, Sahin, Wisdom, Suso and Downing.
Coates needs more game time, Borini looks slightly out of his depth, Assaidi looks like he could turn out to be a really good addition, Jones can only be faulted for the first goal otherwise he was ok, Raheem was not on long enough, Pacheco not sure about this lad.
Then we have Enrique who looked dodgy at best, and Carra looks like he has got to the end.
Was entertaining though, and 3 points secured.
Never dull as a reds fan

Borini out of his depth , we had no movement up front till he came on , bit harsh that lad .

L B .

Borinis movement changed the match for us, just watch his movement that opened up the defense for Shelveys goal.

And may I add, if Borini hadn't made the run across goal, Coates header may very well not make it in.

Let's not slate him for his lack of goals. Let's give credit where credit is due - his movement, and his pressing up front.

DCsg {Ed063's Note - Borini is an excellent player}

Nice one lads, great to see us hitting the net, and more than once too! Get in!

20 Sep 2012 20:07:59
As the players gel & learn together & the system is refined think we will get quicker, sharper & the players will know the oppoutune moment to use individual skill or to pass, the young players did well tonight did not realise wisdom was that good very solid & dependable & what a leap boss! Jft96 paisley's genius

20 Sep 2012 20:03:32
I've gotta say, when we got Jose Enrique for 5.5 mil I thought it was a steal...nowadays he's looking like he's worth that amount! Smh!

Very well played Shelvey tonight and for me Suso, Sterling and Assaldi should be given a chance in the first team ahead of Gerrard, Downing and Borini..just my opinion of course.

K.Bennett

Borini was excellent when he came on, was instrumental in 3 goals

Instrumental in 3 goals? Which ones? nearly got in the way of Coates , had nowt to do with either of Jonjos. So, no he didn't. He did less than Pacheco.

He set up Henderson for Jonjos first, then made a clever run taking defenders away for Jonjos second.

What a fantastic performance from our young boys! Suso looks sharp, Coates was class, Downing and Henderson showed fighting spirit...and how about Shelvey?! Our new Gerrard! my MOTM! Singred

20 Sep 2012 19:59:56
Brilliant Jonjo ! We need look no further for a replacement for Stevie

20 Sep 2012 19:59:17
Oh what fun. I know it's all about the result but great entertainment a real bonus.
Our team had everything you see in a good circus performance.
The clowns.... Enrique and Pecheco spring to mind
The juggler.... Suso had moments of class but needs more time
The ringmaster... Great game Jordo
The lion tamer.... John Jo

Work to do but I had great fun.
On a sad side, Carragher looked like the tight rope walker that's too old and lost his balance

Ladies and gentlemen letme introduce Mr Steven Gerard's natural successor... Step forward Mr Jonjo Shelvey!

Jack the Groove

Man ive been saying this for 2 seasons now! and all ive heard is hes lazy hes this hes that, the boys as good if not better than gerrard was at his age, the kids 20 and his midfield partner who for me, by the way was man of the match, henderson england under 21 captain, jonjo's midfield partner in the under 21's
our squad is brimming with amazing youth players, 2 years and boom

20 Sep 2012 19:54:26
Say what you want about Borini but his movment and workrate really did up the tempo. I think some people forget he's only a youngster. Really well done to all the players tonight. Showed a lot of bottle after being pegged back and falling behind, the future's very bright with the likes of Wisdom, Suso, Shelvey etc. Very good result, we know it was a bit shaky at the back but that was the more experienced left side with Carra and Enrique rather then the young monsters in Coates and Wisdom.

Borini and Shelvey changed tonight. I think Shelvey proved his qualities and is looking great. Also Suso looks very comfortable on the ball and Sahin's passes were pinpoint. A great performance by the boys against some tough opposition.

Whats happened with Enrique ed? Any news of him being un happy, or out of sorts, he has just fallen apart over half a season! {Ed001's Note - he just reverted back to form. That was the player I saw numerous times at Newcastle, consistently out of position and caught out defensively. I think he settled in too well, got too comfortable, even complacent.}

20 Sep 2012 19:23:28
I realize that we would LOVE to be in the champions league at the moment but do we as a club actually believe that we are "too good" for the Europa League?

I understand that our focus is to finish well in the premier league but why not go out and play a full strength team in the Europa League and get some goals, get some more time playing together and get some much needed confidence into the team?

Before anyone says "we need to rest players" I have to ask "why?" did we ever rest players when we were in the champions league? did we b*******! Get a decent team out and show some intent to the fans this year. Win the Europa League and show the football world that "yeah we are better than the other teams here".

Now I will support any player who wears the LFC colors with pride and I will support whoever leads the club into a game but Brendon Rodgers needs to understand that this isn't Swansea, Reading, or any other team. This IS Liverpool FC and we do expect results!

I'm not saying that he needs to win the league in his first two seasons (I did in FM and the league cup and Europa League just saying) but he needs to show that we are improving and that we belong at teh top of the table. The days of Liverpool FC being THE team in England (and in Europe) are gone. We need to get back to business and get ourselves up there on our own merit NOT the merit of those who played before.

If we are expected to get behind the Manager and the team, then the team NEEDS to step it up! (we just let a 3rd in against Young Boys). A change in formation and style isn't difficult for professional players to get used to. My U8 boys team in CANADA can change on the day from 5 a side to 7 a side. From 2-3-1 to 3-2-1 its not difficult!

Its painfully obvious that our 2nd 11 are not good enough so DON'T PLAY THEM!

Get our first team out, get some results and THEN the fans will back the manager and the players but NOT before!

Thank you for reading...or overlooking my rant LFC Fans

Canadian Red {Ed001's Note - did we not just win? Does it matter if he puts out the U10s, so long as they win the match?}

We always rotated the squad when in the champions league.

We won tonight and a lot of inexperienced players got a chance to shine!

Get a grip and behind the team.

YNWA

Bloody hell, we just scored five goals, the lads gave a very good performance, you obviously have no clue what your talking about mate, and posted prematurely!!

You're a ray of sunshine Canada red

We played good football and scored 5 goals.
We also rested Reina, Kelly, Skrtel, Agger, Johnson, Allen, Gerrard, and Suarez for the United game on Sunday.

We played our first team in nearly every game for the league cup and fa cup last season and look how we ended up doing in the league. The second half of the league made us look like all the players go on a mile long run at half time.

BthekingB

Canadian red - you're a clown. That is all.

So you guys clearly know more than me. My post wasn't about TODAYS game the fact that at the time we weren't playing well at the time didn't help and I am over the moon with the result.

What I was not happy with is the fact that we seem to believe that we are above the Europa League. I am saying that if we want to be considered shoe ins for the Champions League then we need to get it right on the field and I think that that means playing are strongest 11 and getting them playing the way the manager wants them to play and scoring goals.

Yes we scored 5 goals today and its brilliant that we did it without the likes of Suarez, Gerrard et al however I do think that we should be playing these guys in the Europa League against "weaker" opposition to get some fluidity and confidence in the team. But then again what do I know right?

Short term, fantastic result for a young lads! Long term (and this season) we need our starting 11 to start playing!

Like I said, I will support any player who wears our colors with pride, I just think they need to start playing!

Sorry for bringing you down lads!

Good post luke

Apart from the fact hes only 5,10 and they were both 6,3 and centre defence and hes a right back {Ed001's Note - if you are talking about Wisdom, he is taller than that and a centre back who covered at right back. King played games in central midfield early in his career.}

Pacheco is s-it simple as, hes been out on loan for the last 3 seasons and no one has made him a decent offer, dont figure

Yes ed i was trying to make a piont, hes probaly 6ft at most compared to agger,skyrtle,coates,kelly, he will never be a centreback at lfc, any youth player with a chance of that will be sama, wisdom is nowhere near 6,,3 6,4 and is nowwhere near the class of ferdinand or king were at his age, and by the way ashley cole and carragher were both strikers at the begining of there careers, whats your point, please explain {Ed001's Note - Carra came into the first team as a midfielder, not a striker. My point was he is not a right back, he was playing there and he has every chance of playing as one in the future. Being tall doesn't mean you are better, that is such prehistoric idiotic thinking. The same stupidity that has held back every flair player in English football for not being strong enough. Wisdom is a big, strong lad with a good leap on him, he is in with a very good chance of making it.}

20 Sep 2012 19:38:22
Well done Henderson. Finally looks like he's playing with some fire in his belly to go with his excellent technical ability.
Same goes for Suso, wand of a left peg to go with his unerring balance.

Probably helped being played i cm. his preferred position

When are Liverpool FC going to address the problem of their defence. Season after season the goals flow in the wrong direction during pre-season and nothing is ever done about it.
This pre-season has had me extremely worried and it looks like my worries are coming true.
No clean sheets, with keystone cops defending and absolutely no clue up front. All goals scored coming from set pieces. This is not the correct ratio of goals for/goals against.
Serious serious problems for LFC
Maybe Rafa wasn't so bad after all.
To end on, why are we trying to cross the ball from wide positions into the box when are only strikers is not in the box. Not even in Switzerland, in fact he's in London at WHUFC

Our defense was brilliant last season and keep in mind we had our reserve back line on the field today....

We scored 5 so critising the attack is some what silly. As for the always leaking goals, this year we havent been great as yet however historically and since Rafa we havent been too bad. And as thankful as I am for Rafa's massive contribution, outside of a half a season, the football wasnt great to watch.

Andy K

20 Sep 2012 19:23:23
I don't get it. Wasn't Enrique a reliable defender last year? Now I know why he isn't in first 11. He is real liability defensively, and since he offers nothing offensively, he is essentially useless.

He was awsome for about his first 10 games thats it but because of the faithfull blind hes the next steve nicol, dont think so.
robinson is a better player already

20 Sep 2012 19:23:01
Im not being funny but if this is going to be our style of play why oh why did we get rid of carroll? He would be putting most of these crosses away for fun!

Only for the first half of the season after thet he was carp why didn't he let Robinson start

20 Sep 2012 19:18:58
Taxi for Enrique, he's garbage...

Enrique is the worst player on the pitch by a mile...

20 Sep 2012 18:58:59
Now to me, this 4-3-3 formation is simply not working! Our build up and passing today has been very good and our young players have looked very assured in possession, but 4-3-3 requires a main centre forward, a proper striker who is supported by wingers. We currently dont have any forward who can play alone, they need more support! Pacheco just looks out of place and very isolated just like suarez did against hearts in the first leg. We seem to have no cutting edge from midfield either, suso had had that one run and that was it. We just dont have the players required to play 4-3-3, we need a striking partnership because none of our current strikers are in the mould of real centre forwards who can play alone upfront. Anyone else agree?

RDR

You can try and get as technical as you want speaking about the exact type of plays you need in a 433. But I believe Rodgers knows wee bit more about the situation then all off us.

But jose enrique when will he learn?
Sloppy..
Red indian

20 Sep 2012 18:56:18
Jamie needs to retire, Downing poor as usual gives ball away easily, some of these kids will be great , some good football, although to deep when we attack, other teams get 6 in the box, not too shabby though looks good for the future

20 Sep 2012 18:53:58
Positives
ive underestimated how good wisdom actually is, not only as an areial thrat but defencivly hes been our best player. Henderson looks like a tottally different player when he plays in the middle. Assiadi looks like a very good dribbler but they need to allow him to take more long range shots and not huff and puff when he does because thats one of his assets.

Negatives
seems like we dont have a striker on the field. Carragher looks so edgy and way past his best. I dont think we can rely on him anymore. Downing although hes great going foward he gives the ball away too cheaply. apart from that content with everybody elses first half performance.

Hopefully yesil comes on.

20 Sep 2012 18:52:16
Time for enrique to take a back seat, hes hesitant, indecisive and has absolutely no end product, Robinson really impressed me during pre-season, i think he should be given a chance.
jaydee ynwa

20 Sep 2012 18:50:13
I think the game is crying out for Borini or Yesil. Nothing against Pacheco but with him and suso its almost like we are playing with 2 AMs and no striker.

Between Downing, Henderson and Enrique, I think we have the three largest turnover machines in modern football. Have any of them completed a pass tonight? If they thought they were going to impress themselves into the first team, they're dreaming in technicolour.

Our defence (ha!) is embarrassing.

20 Sep 2012 18:49:53
Great first half, it's really obvious how hungry the younger players are, they are busting their asses! Typical that it's the more experienced players who screwed up for YB's goal...Suso, Pacheco and Assaidi are looking good at the moment, and of course Andre should be well pleased with the goal. Overall I'm pleased what do the rest of you think?

20 Sep 2012 18:47:32
Hi eds Liverpool fans suso looks to be enjoying himself out there looks a top prospect for lfc so far for years to come. {Ed001's Note - I absolutely love Suso, I think he is our best young talent, I would have him behind the striker rather than Gerrard or Shelvey, personally.}

Ed001 i disagree as you would rather have him than shelvey and gerrard behind the striker and to be fair he aint better than sterling either. but he is a very good player dont get me wrong

the truth {Ed001's Note - yes I would, he needs time on the pitch to learn and improve, but then I would prefer Gerrard and Shelvey in central midfield. Gerrard was much better in a deeper role, last weekend and Shelvey can play in either position. I would just prefer Suso to get a chance to grow into the role.}

20 Sep 2012 18:47:28
Good first half Enrique out please, he is a liability to the team.

20 Sep 2012 18:47:16
I know we're winning so I should keep my mouth shut but Pacheco looks poor, so lazy no effort no movement. No wonder past managers didn't prefer to use him. Enrique and Carragher look woefully off colour especially Enrique. I can't believe he's our first choice left back. The rest of the team seem to be doing fine.

Keith YNWA

P.S. Take a bow Wisdom!

20 Sep 2012 18:42:15
I thought , really thought this was going to be a good season, ok , we can pass the ball , but you don't get points for possession , .. We just scored, anyway, we need more penetration, we need to attack defences , but we don't .
What's going on ??

kevc

I read the other day that we are averaging 17 attempts on goal per game so far this season. I dont think that chance creation is the issue to be honest. And I know hindsight is 20:20 but we scored 5 today.

Andy K

20 Sep 2012 18:41:42
CARRA to be offered a new contract, your having a laugh arn't you,he's a total liability these days,he's got nothing to offer liverpool now....

Contract is for water boy. Don't be so alarmed.

Your remarkable even if it is not playing time desire experience and maybe a coaching role surely carra is worth that??

Mike S

I can't believe your saying such s***e about CARRA just sit back and have a think about what you are saying.Think about the blood sweat and tears he as given us over the years and give him some RESPECT.

No respect in football anymore mate, its all about winning,Carra has never been the best defender,if he was from down south he wouldn't be playing, truth hurts..now get ta bed

I've had a think about it,and i kept getting flash backs of hoofing long balls to nobody, handballs, holding on to players right in the refs view,FINISHED...lets move on..

His best days are ceratinly past him, but how about those massive last gasp tackles, the throwing his body in the way of shots, throwing his head in despite personal danger? Remember those as well? I think it is time to reflect on his future but show some respect to one of ours will ya?

I am feeling sorry for BR so many good cross but the Long man gone :)

r-r {Ed001's Note - and Carroll would have been stood on the edge of the box watching them, just like all last season when crosses went into the box.}

Nail on the head, Ed!

Chris in Tamworth

A bit rash ed, what with injuries and not much game time under Kenny. BR gave him just 18minutes game time. WE all say these players are young give them time, but that didn't apply to Andy who is still young. Everyone wants to give BR time, in my opinion rightly so. one rule for some another rule for Andy.

Bobbinred {Ed001's Note - not harsh at all, that is exactly what he was doing all last season, not what we need in this system. We should still have signed a striker who was though.}

I never like carroll but the truth is we didnt play this much quality cross last year.

Yes he was that bad even BR wished he hadn't let him go on loan

10 mins in and carra got caught once, then man handle the same guy on the half way line. He's far to slow, YBS will score at and it will be his fault. Oh and as I type this carra almost gives a pen away...

Benny baller

I'm afraid your right, far too slow.

Sooty {Ed001's Note - not half as bad as Enrique though, he seems to have reverted back to the dreadful Newcastle player, instead of that excellent left back we brought in last season!}

Agree with you again Ed, I didn't really fancy Enrique but I thought I'd been proved wrong after his early displays but no I was right after all! (I should have known I would be ;))

Chris in Tamworth {Ed001's Note - I know, I really thought he was ramming my words back down my throat, for a few games he was excellent. Shame he hasn't kept that up.}

20 Sep 2012 18:12:46
Eds, can you answer this question for me?
Where is doni? He's not making the bench this season and I was wondering if he has an injury that we don't know about or simply because rodgers prefers jones? {Ed002's Note - Jones appears to be preferred.}

"The idea is for the squad to be small as it gives players who are just on the outside the motivation that they still have an opportunity"
Brendan Rodgers

Sorry does BR actually expect adult fans to believe this PR peddle from FSG's communications dept. If that is the strategy forget any possibility of top 4 at any time. It is just not feasible even in a fair pay situation. jmac

It's when injuries set-in that a small squad gets found out. If you have a small squad you need to have 14 top notch players.

Disney!

It gives our youngsters a chance as well.
Stop moaning you sound pathetic.

MIKEY

BR has also said the squad is not big enough for Europeon football and that the league is his priority. Maybe the same will apply in the future

Bobbinred

Pessimistic shower! The manager is placing his trust with the reserve and youth, which fundamentally is the correct way. Continental football and the disregard to the reserve league encouraged larger first-team squads which in turn DOES encourage lazy bench warmers on higher wages. He will bring in the players he wants and things will change eventually, but any team requires a youth and reserve system to play the same system across-the-board which is the way the club is moving forward.

FINALLY SUSO gets his chance!!

Good to also see Pacheco after he was set to leave on the last day of the transfer window.

and lets not forget Assaidi we get to see what he is about.

This would be a good test to see our young guysl; suso & wisdom also making his debut and hopefully Yesil will also make his debut. he must be thinking "I made the right choice i'm in the team"

i was sad that guys like suso wisdom, robinson, sama etc most that played in the nextgen couldn't play in nextgen again this year.... but heyyy! what do you know they are playing in Europa League party due to our small squad but they are good enough....

robinson, wisdom, suso, sterling, carragher, gulacsi and pacheco all from the LFC Academy..soon in a year or two we will be a self sustaining club in terms of these guys being ready for regular first team action.

it's promising thought.

20 Sep 2012 17:13:57
People stop dreaming and reading too much about january Transfer. To many it is like a forgone conclusion that Liverpool will buy a striker in January. However there will BE NONE purchases in January. We are going to see some talents from the youth set-up rising up and shining. I have posted numerous posts and they have always been confirmed to be true in the end.
Eds post this this time because I have inside information.
FORGET Demba Ba, Isco et al.

2 hrs to k/o. Buzzing! Looking forward to seeing the future of the Reds.
Should be an exciting contest.
Possible line-up:

Gulacsi

Wisdom
Carra
Seba
Enrique

Suso
Shelvey
Sahin

Yesi
Borini
Downing

Decent mixture of youth+experience. Assaidi, Hendo and one of Coady/Robbo/Morgan/Ster could come off the bench, the latter especially if needs be.

I think the most important thing tonight is that the young lads go out there, relax and have some fun and they likely to have good games.
Sure, we'd want to win the game. However, I think it's about giving especially Suso, Yesi and Morgo some competitive experience and preparing them to be drafted in seeing as they are the most 'advanced'.

So for me a good performance is the main goal. Winning would be a bonus.
Getting the kiddies acclimitised takes priority here.
Also it should do Sahin and Assaidi some good fitness-wise.
I'd think that BR would want Assaidi involved to some or other extent Sunday, in which he'll to get significant minutes tonight.

My hope, and I think it could very well happen, is that Suso and Yesi force their way into the side Sunday, with the axe falling on Hendo and Downer.
Suso, imo, could have could just as big, if not bigger, an impact as Sterling.
The kid is just insanely good.
Plus he'd offer us summat unique, a completely different dimension.

I could easily see Suso being a very important player for us, especially towards the end of the season.
Yesi I expect to be a regular on the bench. As BR himself said, he'll be fasttracked, such is his ability. But we CAN'T afford to overplay him, nor Suso and Sterling for that matter. They still kids. We definately do NOT want to burn them out.

That said, there necessarily may not be a need to. With each game we getting better. Borini is looking closer and closer to getting off the mark and once he does, the goals will start flowing, effusively. Suarez may also shore up his technique and composure.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I'll say it again, we WILL come good, and when we do, it will be so good as to be unreal.
We are playing very well and creating tons of chances.
We'll find our mojo in front of goal and put chances away, for fun.

We've the most difficult start imaginable, and under the circumstances (new manager, new players, new system etc), we haven't done a terrible job of representing ourselves.

Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea have some difficult games coming up, and, from what I've seen of particularly Spurs and Chelsea, they'll slack substantially. We could easily and comfortably be top 3/4 mid to end of October.

Have some patience and get behind the team, BR and owners.
And please, all you watch the game tonight and see some of the bearers of the future of our great club.

BARNEY

Hi eds. any idea why Danny Wilson and john flannogen are not travelling for today's game?

Many thanks {Ed001's Note - Flanagan is injured I think, but Wilson didn't go because he has been consistently awful since signing for us. Even his loan spell at Blackpool was disappointing, at best, with him just being poor, when he could even get in their team.}

Eds, Wilson is on the bench. Brian.

hi eds.come on the young boys lets have a win tonight, bring on the match.walk on walk on,jay essex red for life red till dead

I guess a utd fan disagreed with this post, how funny it is that they probably spend more time on our site than there own

So, what's with the new embedded (and intensely irritating) ad links.

Very American.... Not good!

Mrpjd {Ed001's Note - site costs money to run, unfortunately ads around the side of the page just don't make enough any more. We did get them to agree to a limited amount of ads and not to ever show any for the S*n, but that was about all we could do.}

Dont see what the problem is, dont hover over the word!

How do you think the site like this runs for FREE? Im sure if you would like to be a large investor for the Liverpool rumours site the eds would happily remove the ads!

What is the post code advert on the back of the lfc shirts

reports suggesting that Sturridge is unhappy at Chelsea and will seek a move away in January. Get in there BR!
YNWA

Learpholl

Is he good enough?

No thanx. We need team players, not selfish over rated players. Rather go for demba ba.
Indian Buzzer

REALITY CHECK.

we were offered sturridge in the last window,we could only afford a loan deal.sturridge would only join permanently.
fsg said no(12 million).what makes you think they will spend money in January that they refused to spent in the last few days of the window, its more likely we will be scratching around asking for a loan of a striker rather then buy one, wouldnt put it past fsg to ask united for a loan of hernandez.

RED JAY {Ed002's Note - Liverpool were not "offered" Sturridge. Liverpool had his agent approach Chelsea to see if he would be available for a loan - and he wasn't. That is all it was, nothing more, no £12M or anything like that.}

-----------------Jones---------------
---Flanno---Carra---Coates---Enrique
-------------Sahin----Hendo---------
------------------Suso--------------
-----Assaidi-------Yesil-------Downing-

I can see this being the team tonight and if not Downing then Pacheco....

Great minds think alike. Although i had Reina in nets. Dont think he travelled tho.

The Irish Rover

I think Downing might play left back and rest Enrique for Sundays match, no point risking both?

Flanno didnt even travel

Flanagan didn't travel, not sure why, neither did johnson, kelly or wilson so i think wisdom may get a go at right back.
borini will start ahead of suso.

jones

wisdom carragher coates enrique

sahin
henderson shelvey

Downing Assaidi
borini

expect yesil, suso and coady to play some part.

i dont think sterling will play unless things are going really bad, he will be saved for the man utd game.

Jaydee ynwa

Flanno is injured i think it will be Wisdom at Right Back

the rest of the team you got right but Pacheco might start at LWF with Downing at RWF

Agree with the post above ^^^

However, I think there is an outside chance that Suso might start ahead of Henderson. Yesil will get a run out as a sub in for Borini.

Question for you all ....... Can you all honestly say you have supported Liverpool all your life? I only ask because Liverpool fans seem to be the most loyal fans in England ...... I know a hell of a lot of people who switched teams to man utd when they started to be successful, I see more n more man city shirts n Chelsea shirts now a days......I think other fans are jealous of our loyalty towards Liverpool because other fans don't know the meaning of the word loyalty now a days!

Andy

Since I was 3 . I am 35 now . My boy is 11 and he has supported them since the day he was born (obviously). No other supporters compare to LFC fans . Let's get 3 points this Sunday . YNWA

Jamesy

Hi andy, yep can honestly admit that i have been a supporter of liverpool all my life. My dad instilled it into me when i was a kid. He went to rome in 77, took him 5 days to get there by special train haha. He still has the ticket stub and the official half english half italian programme. He went to wembley in 78 and He was also at hillsborough in 1980 when we played arsenal in semi final of the fa cup. Luckily he couldnt get tickets for the disaster in 1989. Ive followed in his footsteps been to both semi's agains chelsea couldnt afford istanbul unfortunately.Im having a baby boy due in december, he has the new strip, dummies, baby grows the lot. Another red to add to the millions and he doesnt know it yet haha can not wait.

Ian the immensly proud red

Totally agree with you on this mate Just want to add before 2005 it use to be Arsenal fans all around the place and since they aren't winning fans have started supporting Chelsea or man city. Most of the people I know support a team because of the players they have eg most of my African friends either support Chelsea because of Drogba may be now they will be supporting the Chinese team :)).
Red 316

How VERY dare you sir!

I am 40 years old and a proud Scot. I have supported Liverpool since 1977 when my idol signed for the club. So I have supported the team for 35 years and have NEVER EVER thought about changing my colours. True football fans stick by their club thru thick and thin.

I started suppporting Liverpool in '88 when I was 7 years old. Being an Irish chap the first full game I ever watched was Ireland v England at Euro 88. When Ray Houghton scored what proved to be the winner and instantly became my hero! At the bottom of the screen after he scored it said Ray Houghton... Liverpool & Rep Ireland! I was hooked after that!

Macko

Been a red since 1990 when I was 4, and never thought about changing. However, I live south of London and chances to watch games at anfield are slim so I have a second team to fill the buzz, Woking!

I have supported the best club in the world, LIVERPOOL FC since 1962, so I have seen them at their best and now I am being patient cos I can see that BR is a good guy. Red till Dead. YNWA

Been a liverpool supporter for 60 odd years now.

I think its a little short sighted of you to say that liverpool are the most loyal. I was born a spurs fan and will die a spurs fan and im not the only who feels this way about there club. You can have 100 wives but only ever 1 club !! COYS TTID

Much love

I don't think I know a single person who has ever changed their club. I would probably be a bit wary of anyone who jumped clubs to be honest. A sign of a weak mind, I reckon!

Nick

I was born in Cornwall and started watching football when I was about 8. I was drawn to Liverpool probably because they were so successful at the time so I guess I was an 8 year old glory hunter but no matter they have been my club ever since (36 years) and they will always be my club

Chris in Tamworth

Great posts... i always was and always will forever be a red!!

Ye all my life a red, from Cumbria and season ticket holder. Two boys who are obviously reds and have had it explained to them how other fans have probably supported three different clubs but reds are for life. People say u let them choose who they want but they are my kids and they will do as they are told! Great to see when I take him them to their training the amount of kids in LIVERPOOL kits, they will be the ones who understand what loyalty is.

Gally

I was born 38 years ago today, in South Australia, and as one of two gifts I received from my grandparents, who had been on a world trip, on that day was a Liverpool scarf. I have been a Red for 38 years and have no idea what you mean about changing. I was lucky enough to see the Reds a few times when I lived in the UK and my first visit to Anfield and the Gates was and will always be one of the greatest moments of my life.
PS - Well done to the boys today, a great birthday present.

Team Id like to see play tonight

Jones

Kelly Carragher Coates Downing

Coady Sahin

Suso

Assaidi Pacheco

Yesil

Subs: Gulacsi, Robinson, Wisdom, Shelvey, Sterling, Borini, Morgan

Coady is a good call .

We have struggled for eighteen months through having only one defensive midfielder at the club ( Lucas ) , I have only seen Coady play twice , apart from TV , but if he could step up it would save us millions .

Don't think Kelly travelled - Flanno likely RB

Just what I'm hoping for

Henderson will play imo and rightly so.

I genuinely hope that there is respect both ways on Sunday. I hope that Suarez and Evra swllow their pride and shake hands, i hope that the United fans stand up and join us in a chorus of 'justice for the 96' and i hope that all of us realise that its time to draw a line under all the hatred aimed at United. Yes we can still be rivals, but lets go back to what we were once famous for, wit and humour. Football is a passionate game but it means nothing compared to what happened at and after Hillsborough and what has also happened to the 2 young policewomen this week. Brian

Hi didn't know that we gave players to man u after munich so they could finish there season

When he reaches Evra, Suarez shouldn't just do a quick unmeaningful handshake with his head down for people to then say 'oh look he didn't really mean it, but did it because he had to because of the occasion and Evra is still a victim'.......

He should instead pause briefly, point to the 96 (number will be imprinted in top-middle on LFC shirt) and squeeze Evra's hand with a hard stare that says, 'I still can't stand you, but I'm shaking your hand for the 96 who deserve a proper football match - end of'.

Hopefully someone suggests this to him, as it would repair his image in the eyes of many and maintain dignity, not that he would care but it is needed. RC

Or he should shake his hand because he should be genuinely sorry to evra and everyone at liverpool he let down

We didn't give any players to United. There was some offered but United politely turned down the offer.
Dutchmal

Hopefully Evra gives his hand properly as well. Last season he kept his hand down and would have only touched fingers if Luis had not been stupid and given him a reason to look like an innocent party (again!!!).
Dutchmal

Neither wanted to shake hands last match and the clubs should not pressurize either player to do so. Ban handshakes before and let players choose to shake hands at game end. This whole debacle will then go away for every player. It is causing unneccesary problems. aklfc

Liverpool in possible nameing rights talks with coke cola. They will sponsor our stadium have advertising inside the ground too. In a few years they may become our shirt sponsor too. The money we will get will depend on how sucessful we are ive been told.

Can't be true! Can it?

Meagan Fox told you this while Rhianna brought you both breakfast in bed!

That will please the local dentists. Coca Cola rots your teeth quicker than anything.

The Accountant. {Ed001's Note - not true at all, a sweet drink is far less damaging to your teeth than a food high in sugar, as it gets swallowed straight down your gullet. Orange juice is more damaging to your teeth anyway, it is high in acid and sugar.}

Why is ed 001 onlt disagreeing with the drink and not the proposed text about the stadium. {Ed001's Note - why would I disagree with the original text? I never dealt with it, it is nothing to do with me. I was just disagreeing with the complete nonsense about Coca-Cola being the most damaging thing for teeth, when it is not. You do more damage eating a bag of crisps, for instance.}

Awhh man...I love crisps :(

Just wondering ED's, do you think that with the inflated January price tags we will recall caroll from his loan spell, try and manage with what we've got or do you think FSG will aim to try and restore some of the fans faith and go all out to buy a truly world class striker.

Now, as we all know, the truth is out after many years campaigning. I urge everyone to now express the fact that we now want JUSTICE?
A fight has been won but the battle is not over. Let's do our best to keep it in the mainstream media. We cannot afford to get this far and think that it is over. The word JUSTICE should never be forgotten. We owe it to ourselves and, more importantly to our fallen friends and their families.

This was supposed to be an answer to the jerseyquestion earlier, my phone messed it up.

Btw, how can you disagree? these are my jerseys!

Leni, people click disagree because they are pedantic little school children who find sad little trolling activities on here such as clicking 'disagree' for no reason a cathartic effect so escape from their more than likely mundane life, ignore them, they're sad.

JFT 96

Chill mate some people are on here just to disagree

Because they are persons.
I would like to see the agree and disagree buttons removed altogether.
People would then have to post replies instead.
To many trolls that hit agree or disagree to a post to try and make it stand out more or to go against what the majority think/say.

^^^^To the post above; Please don't remove the agree/disagree buttons. Pedantic ticking of the disagree is so very easy to ignore and I could care less.

However, if you remove it some of them may well start posting more and then I'm going to have read at the least the first few words of some *personic* post before I can see it for the IQ lowering trash that it is and move on.

Just think of the disagree button mostly as a sewage run off pipeline for persons to prevent them from feeling the need to post anything we might end up reading.

I am really quite excited about tonight's game - don't get me wrong, I always am excited to watch the Mighty Reds, but tonight we may get a glimpse to what the future may hold for our club. With the likes of Morgan, Sterling, Yesil, Assaidi and the "experience" of Sahin, it'll be interesting to see how they fare. Regardless of the result, with the way Rogers has them playing it should be a good watch. I am not one of the "if we don't win then Rogers should be hung from a yard arm" brigade, in fact I am a firm supporter of the manager and his ways - I know it's a results based business, but the performances are quite heartening so far, and who knows what damage we could do with a goal scorer...which is why I want to see what this Yesil character is like - could he be thrown in to the deep end and make an impact? We may know a bit more after tonight...

Fully agree, now is the time to start showing what the academy has been producing. Hopefully they'll be up for it and eager to impress. The media reportig it saying we are fielding reserves are putting a negative spin on it, I think it's exactly the opposite

Agree!

We played quite a young team against Hearts in the first leg and I thought they performed reasonably well. In fact they played better than the first teamers who played in the 2nd leg!

Really excited about seeing the younger lad. They are more suited to BR's way of playing. Hopefully Suso will start and we can get to see what Assaidi looks like!

Mike in leeds

Personally i think its a disgrace its cheapening the europa league.everybody complained including lfc fans that arsenal where cheapening the carling cup over the years by playing youngsters now lfc are doing it,shame on you
anon

To Mike in Leeds, just use google images if you want to see what Assaidi looks like

I wish shelvey was playing tonight and sahin on sunday. ahwel lets do it on both matches and remember who we r playing for a club that people have paid with their lives supporting so hope the players run themselves into the ground for the 96.Tommy Irish Red

I disagree its cheapenin the europa league.we hav one of the thinnest squads we cant play suarez, gerrard, agger nd so on every game.

Recent post states that 'it would be sad to see Henderson leave because he has a mass of talent' - I ask you where is this mass of talent cos I aint seen any of it.

20 Sep 2012 09:59:19
Fun question for you all....

When you buy your shirt do you get it numbered and/or named?

I know some get the number and their own name, some get a statement (Justice 96), some a bit of fun (Euro 5, Creamfields 11).

Myself I've stuck to 3 players since naming and numbering became big, I have 4 Fowler 23's, 6/7 Fowler 9's (including the one when he came home - and I stand by putting 9 on it), a couple of reebok Gerrard 17's, loads of Gerrard 8's (including a england shirt my missus f'd up). Then 3 Torres 9's, I was so close to getting one done the christmas before the window he left and only didn't because of work (I ironed his name of a couple of shirts and considered if I could leave the double R for Carroll)

Right now I can't think of a name I'd put on my shirt, the Torres affair kind of scarred me, my brother used to get the flavour of the season on his shirts and he has a closet full of shirts where the player left within the year (one being Benny because I wanted my money's worth for his B'day present)

I always want a lifer on my shirt (hence the disappointment at Torres).

If I was gonna do it again I think it would probably be Luis (what a player). Kelly, Allen and Sterling all appeal as players that I hope we keep for years and should be stars.

What do you think Reds??

Andre wisdom

Kelly - Future England captain

JFT 96 YNWA mate.

Cuchulainn's Hounds

Jonjo or LUCAS 8 when sg retrires {Ed063's Note - Joseph Allen}

Allen. He is a future star for Liverpool and will have is name along side Gerrard Carragher Fowler Molby Rush Barnes etc.

20 Sep 2012 09:02:38
It would be sad to let Henderson leave considering he has a mass of talent, he needs to be played in his more suited positiong. Him being england's u21 captain says much about his immense talent.
cheers, Felmil GH.

More like how bad the england team is lets face it the histeria of 66 has well gone so of englands expectation of winning anything the first decent team they play they get shown up how bad and how far the home of football has fallen both talent wise and technically

Lol, without abusing too much the guy is not upto playing for lfc and he certainly isnt good enough to play at the highest level, sunderland was his level and he was even struggling for them. Hope we can bring in isco or someone to replace gerrard or i hope suso can make that his. RedTurk

I agree with the 3rd post. imagine isco, allen and lucas as a midfield three with shelvey and suso as back up.

plus Shelvey is two years younger than Henderson but out plays him for England u21 and Liverpool

i find it strange that a player like henderson that doesn't play, doesn't play for LFC u21's on occasions......chelsea does it so does mancity, everton and arsenal.

20 Sep 2012 08:44:16
Got this off Daniel Grey, football lawyer.

"Manchester United makes £3.7m per home game, Arsenal £3.3m, Chelsea £2.5m, Spurs £1.6 and LFC £1.5m."

Clearly a sign of how far behind we are financially. This is a reality check for those who still think we DESERVE to be in the top 4 every year.

DCsg

I dont anyone is saying we deserve to be the top four, you have to earn it.
RB

This doesn't prove anything? Remember Liverpool is in the Northwest of the country, we have higher avergae attendances than Chelsea and Spurs but they are in London, if we were to build a new 60,000 seater stadium and both clubs were to build a 55,000 each then they would probably still get more from gate sales due to higher ticket prices down south, there is nothing anyone can do about that, I'm sure our commercial revenue is higher than Spurs and Chelsea and probably not far off Arsenals and our average wage bill is definitely lower than Chelsea's, Arsenals and Utds, I suppose if it bothers you that much then would you be happy that tickets went up to £75 each just so stats can look better in a magazine?

Tugger

How much they make a home game is surely related to stadium size nd ticket costs nd that is not a parameter to judge who shoud be in the cl.but yes we need a few more seats.

Didn't John Henry address this once in an interview - the gist was "We're not a club that is going to top Match Day Revenues and that is why we have to carefully consider our stadium options, our considerations for increasing revenue lie in maximising the Liverpool brand through sponserships and worldwide marketing".

Well it does. You get more revenue, you can buy better players which might in turn liverpool ending up in the Cl.

The Irish Rover

Spurs were the most watched team last year! Arsenal came top but fixed their attendance by including season ticket holders that were not there! The same thing can be said of this money situation with arsenal & Chelsea fixing the amount!

You have listed the revenue on match day. But what about the expenses? It's the gross margin that counts. eg. revenue minus (-) expenses = money left.

Did the lawyer say anything about this?

Spurs where the most watched team?.you are a plonker mate.white hart lane holds 36000 the emirates holds 60,000 and is sold out every home game.not all season ticket holders can make it to a home match.last season the lowest actual attendance (bums on seats) at the emirates was approx 50,000,.do the maths kid its not that difficult

Spurs arsenal and chelsea are located in London mate so the prices are much higher and manutd have like 30k more than our stadium capacity.

20 Sep 2012 05:25:31
Will be interesting to see how FSG react to the news that PSG are to sign a shirt sponsorship deal worth €400 over 4 years. Following Man City's £400m naming rights deal it seems that the sugar daddy clubs are content to ignore the financial fair play rules.

Wonder how keen they will now be {Ed002's Note - This is not ignoring the rules.}

Might not be ignoring the rules, or breaking them, but it is taking the p*ss out of them!

Nick {Ed002's Note - Every club will look to gain as much sponsorship as they can.}

Surely these are 'non-arms length' transactions...

I think fair enough if a chelsea, city or PSG has one big spending spree in one window. However, to continue throw ridiculous amounts of money each year, it is ruining the game..

Eds - Is the pitch at the Stade de Suisse still "artificial" (Astroturf), or has it been replaced with a real natural grass surface?

As an aside, and a bit of school boy humour - the stadium is situated in a region of Bern called - ****dorf ...lets hope we aren't the ones looking like - person's tomorrow, if the pitch is still Astroturf we just might. {Ed002's Note - It remains astroturf to the best of my knowledge.}

Stop worrying, it's a only a handful of persons on this site that are doing that, probably not even Liverpool fans just mixing a bottle and hoping for reaction. Like most of the personic In The Know posts who know exactly what FSG and Rodgers are thinking.

Hey Blair Mayne, how did Liverpool go in the Chapions League tonight? Didn't catch that game because, oddly enough, it wasn't even on TV. Couldn't even find anything on the internet about their Champions League game tonight. They only showed Man Utd on TV. I'm honestly baffled by this. {Ed063's Note - That's because we play in the super secret Champions league that only allows teams in if they have won the Champions league at least 5 times. You wouldn't know this of course, given United haven't won it that many times have they?}

Honestly! One of the worst attempts of a wind up i have ever seen on this site. Absoulutely p#ss poor!

Ohhh slapped down.. Well said ed..
Ricklfc...

Dear Baffled,
There will come a time when your team will drop out of the Champion's League places and believe me that time could come sooner than you think. We can see by the amount of finance being ploughed into football and pressure being put on teams to provide Champions League qualification and success that the number of teams capable of gaining automatic qualification is more than the competition can accept. Your added pressures will be the impending retirement of your manager and the loss of his influence at the FA, followed by the reduction of Old Trafford time to the standard 3 minutes. You will also have to prepare yourself for the verbal ridicule and taunts from fans of all shirt colours once that day arrives and it would be advisable to get into training as soon as possible - it could even happen next May.

Do Liverpool fans go on any other teams website? Genuine question. I honestly do not understand it....weird. {Ed002's Note - Yes.}

Ah ok ed. We play in the super super secret champions league, where you only get im if you have won the most league titles from the teams respective country.
Sparky

Meaning we've been in this super secret champions league for a longer and you sir a playing in it for the first time.
cheers, Felmil GH.

Its a bit sad when you have to brag about scraping through against gala who clearly dominated the ball hit post znd bar twice znd de gea had to make a string of saves. Oh and they had a stone wall penalty turned down. United are garbage and they wnt get further than quarter finals mark my words

Oh dear poor old trophey-less man united fans. Stop living in the past united, you havent got a trophey

Fair play to UTD, like us they are currently the second best team in their city.

Nice bit of banter which is what I'm after on this page. Good work!

I think United are already in decline but looking forward to Rednose hanging up his thowing boot I must admit.

Would love to see Assaidi, Borini/Yesil and Pacheco up front tomorrow. Absolutely can't wait to see what Assaidi can do. In the videos (coz lets face it, hardly anyone has seen him
Play a whole match) he looks like there are magnets in his feet and the ball. Yesil is very exciting, and Borini could really do with a few goals to boost his confidence. Pacheco looked good playing for the U21s. Hopefully they will all get a run out. Would also love to see Suso and Sterling - goes without saying really! It's exciting isn't it! Though I do feel we could have done with a few first team players on the bench just in case we start to look like we're being battered. BR can't make the mistake of under estimating Young Boys, they will fight hard for this.

Think BR is absolutely doing the right thing.

We have small squad and the BPL our top priority. It has to be done, whatever the results tonight. Keep the faith

Cheers

You want to play a team of young boys against Young Boys?

cozinoz {Ed063's Note - Nothing better than a young boy ;-)}
