Use our rumours form to send us liverpool transfer rumours.

21 Apr 2016 21:40:03
This is a good time to be a Liverpool fan. The results and table positions are massively inconsistent and we can go from high to low at the drop of a hat. Utd did the double over us in the league this season and we missed out on a cup with dodgy penalties.

Our low points didn't come without highs though and we managed to regain some dignity beating Utd twice in the Europa league and put 8 goals past Everton in the premier league. Best of all we got to watch some unique high class football, in one of the best games at anfield I have ever seen, when Dortmund came round to play.

But we have done it with a team that was very expensive but wasn't doing much and had high potential but was underachieving. Suarez was the type of player that you can build a team around. He left and the quality of the squad dropped, somebody had to step up. Gerrard a long standing captain left and somebody had to step up. Sturridge and Ings have barely played this season due to injuries so somebody had to find the goals.

I think our players have achieved all of this under the guidance of 1 man and his staff in less than a year, and he hasn't even put his own stamp on the team yet with player transfers.

Can has been immense since the day we signed him, i see him as a future captain or vice captain maybe.

Lucas is playing the part of a true veteran in this club now and what he brings to the squad suits it well. More than 9 years of loyalty and he still gives his all.

Coutinho could be that player to build around for me, either him or Firminho. Why not both?

Sakho and Loven are the most transformed for me. I used to worry at the thought of lovren starting games, now I worry if he isn't there.

Lallana, Milner, Henderson and Allen do the dirty job, the tiring, less pretty pressing and chasing down, taking a bash to the face and stuff. Every team needs players like this.

Even the youngsters and other players not mentioned will be relishing their chance to get in on this ride because its starting to take off surprisingly faster than expected. Klopp is clearly making a huge difference to what was essentially a pretty broken team.

Kopp is building something strong that will hopefully last a long time and for once EVERYONE seems on board. I mean how could you not be? He is charismatic, funny, loveable but more importantly very good at his job.

Onwards and upwards to what awaits, starting with welcoming Benitez back to Anfield and then onto some important games against our fellow Europa League survivors.
(Jokes on them because we have already beat.

Hi Eds,

Love the site and all the continual improvements you make. Addictive daily reading!

Was wondering if you had heard any more on the possible venue for the Barcelona game on Aug 6th? Had heard the original rumors of Dublin which would be great as from Ireland originally (now living in the US) . Would be a great excuse to get home for a holiday with the kids!

Many thanks

RJB.

Thanks Ed2!

Love the witty responses to the postings!

Just wanted to mention coutinho a little with origi and Dortmund happening he's gone under the radar a little. Most goals in a season for him now, and coming to the boil nicely. We said at the start why is she shooting so much, but now every time he gets the ball around the box he seems to cause problems. Not shooting from 30 yards as much and starting to get a good return for his talent. Continue like this and he could be a 20 goal midfielder next season!

Believable10 Unbelievable2

21 Apr 2016 19:19:52
Hope we keep hold of him!

21 Apr 2016 19:31:56
It was said at the time. His only option with Origi and Sturridge out was to have a pop. Benteke was never mobile enough for him and his decisive passing. Benteke was always to static.

21 Apr 2016 19:28:43
There has never been a 20 goal midfielder in a single season ever except may be Lampard.

21 Apr 2016 20:31:46
Uh. what Harry? Didn't Yaya do it several times?

21 Apr 2016 20:58:25
Harry I get what you're saying but Coutinho isn't a midfielder. He is basically a left winger. He's more like a right footed Bale in terms of position and the way he hits the ball with pace, swerve and curl. Except he works himself space to shoot with skill instead of pace and power.

He can easily hit 20 goals next season for me. He's still improving even at 23 and he's got 11 this season despite our lacklustre start under Bodgers and his 2 month injury lay off.

When Fencey says midfielder he is thinking Ronaldo, Reus, Ribery, Robben, Bale, Mkhitaryan, De Bruyne etc. Attacking midfielders and wingers. Some may consider them attackers but Coutinho hasn't played centre mid for us ever. The closest was the left side of the diamond in 13/ 14.

21 Apr 2016 21:01:22
Steven Gerrard would beg to differ 3 times.

21 Apr 2016 22:30:19
Coutinho has kept his shots lower this season. Last year they were going into orbit.

22 Apr 2016 04:42:42
Surely Harry, you should know better than make a statement like that when Gerrard himself has done that a few times? In recent times, Yaya Toure has got 20 a season.

21 Apr 2016 19:06:25
Eds and reds asked this the other day but didn't see any posts so I'm trying again. Would anybody be willing to give Balo another chance under Klopp. i'd be willing to give him another window. I think Klopp could ignite a fire in him and make him truly world class and the best part would be he doesn't cost anything. Those funds could be used elsewhere.
Cheers.

Believable0 Unbelievable12

{Ed002's Note - Won't be an option 420FL - the club want him gone and he doesn't want to return.}

21 Apr 2016 19:17:57
I'm kinda speechless. The only way I can take this post is as a joke. There is no way anyone wants that useless clown back! I'd only consider a donkey over Mario.

21 Apr 2016 19:30:23
A mythical pyromancer wouldn't ignite a fire in Balotelli, 420. He might, might do just enough between now and the end of the season to pique Milan's interests again. But even if they do sign him permanently (and don't expect a transfer fee, btw), it'll last two years before his permanent disinterest in most aspects of being a footballer will result in him being packed off to the Middle East, or if he's lucky, China.

And do you know what? He probably won't last there either. Retirement at about 30 is on the horizon for Mario.

21 Apr 2016 19:37:45
Donkeys are hard workers Twist.

21 Apr 2016 19:43:06
I would rather the club pay 35 million pounds again for Andy Carroll than even entertain the idea of bringing Balotelli back. The guy is an utter waste of space and has been one of the high profile flops at our club. Let him go for free if no one's willing to pay up on top of his ridiculous salary. We do not need his careless attitude and stupidity anywhere near the club.

22 Apr 2016 00:11:27
Wasn't meant to be a joke. Maybe my naivety. I believe in second chances and feel the club has the right man for it. I appreciate the feedback from all. Mythical pyromancer cracked my shit up.

22 Apr 2016 03:43:11
I was quite disappointed in the Balo outcome, that first game playing alongside Sturridge he really played well and I thought if only he'd been played with a strike partner (even Borini would have been better than no-one) we would have probably scored a lot more goals than we did last season. He was never mobile enough on his own to play lone striker in a system like ours (ie. no wingers)

Having said that, it's all water under the bridge and there's no point in trying to fix past mistakes. Klopp is on a good run with the right attitude and team players and good forwards in Sturridge, Origi, Ings and Firmino available. Zero sense in potentially disrupting the rhythm with a player like Balo.

22 Apr 2016 09:03:01
I wouldn't mind. By all accountsshi off-field behaviour as no been an issues for months now. I watched his last 2 games and I thought there is some promse there. Bu te environment is important and I don't this he will thrive back here. So I hope he stays away.

21 Apr 2016 19:04:41
Michael Owen as National Ambassador for the club, whose pathetic idea was that.

Believable10 Unbelievable2

21 Apr 2016 19:44:20
Definitely a step backwards for the club. Owen is the farthest thing from an ambassador that LFC needed, and that is exactly what they ended up doing. Whoever made this decision should be sacked, and Owen should follow suit.

21 Apr 2016 19:56:01
I rather would drink a pint of spit than have him anywhere near the club again. The little ungrateful Judas.

21 Apr 2016 20:40:18
Just shows that the owners don't have a bloody clue about what the fans want. They just don't get the fact that if you play for LFC then you NEVER sign for the red devils.

21 Apr 2016 21:01:58
Next year it will be Balotelli.

21 Apr 2016 20:18:54
That's a tight slap on the face of Carragher. You lost s bit respect there FSG. He isn't a good commentator, how would he represent my club?

22 Apr 2016 00:21:34
Personally it doesn't bother me that Owen played for ManU. He had left the club and needed a job. Besides he was pretty much crap by then anyway.
But I don't like him as an ambassador because of the way he behaved whilst with us.

22 Apr 2016 11:39:25
What bothers me most is he led the fans on saying he was signing a new contract and all the time he was engineering a move away.

21 Apr 2016 14:50:40
Hi eds,

Has anyone looked at Alphonse Aréola who is on loan from PSG at Villareal. Surely with Trapp and Sirigu in there ranks they would be willing to sell. Has liverpool scouted him?

Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - PSG has no intention of sellingbhim.}

21 Apr 2016 16:29:28
Sounds like Hummels has got itchy feet.
If we do get in the champions league, does anyone expect Kloppo to bid for him?

Believable3 Unbelievable10

21 Apr 2016 17:16:56
We can always hope Ron. You need a bit more optimism😉.

21 Apr 2016 17:26:10
Do we need him? Or want him though?
Good player but lovren and sakho look great right now.
Other prioritys in the team I think.

21 Apr 2016 17:27:51
Sounds suspiciously like standard contract negotiation trick to me. Expect him to announce a bumper new deal with Dortmund in the summer.

21 Apr 2016 18:00:04
I quite like the look of lovren and sakho together now tbh.

21 Apr 2016 18:13:36
Despite how good sakho and lovren look together, Hummels is the kind of player you be ruthless for, he is a certain improvement. If he becomes available i'd be shocked if we did not at least try. I definitely believe he will be gone this summer though, surely a bit tired of dortmund by now, he has done a good term i imagine he wants some regular trophies now.

21 Apr 2016 18:15:33
don't forget we have Matip to arrive also, I could see Skrtel leaving as a result and we know Kolo is and I would expect Ilori to be offloaded also. I certainly wouldn't turn my nose up at Hummels! How realistic that is I'm not sure, muscatred raises a valid point.

21 Apr 2016 18:26:26
Just can't see this happening. Instead of Matip we should have just tried for Hummells. He is world class.

21 Apr 2016 19:25:31
Lovren and sakho have improved and kept us in a lot of games recently. Don't think you should look at replacing players who are developing a partnership, working hard and improving. I'm happy for them both because they were both almost out the door and now they are enjoying their football. With matip as a backup, Lucas able to play their and Gomez coming back, I think we have more pressing issues.

21 Apr 2016 19:49:00
I really don't think Hummels would take well to the Premier League. He's looked pretty slow every time i've seen him play, he's not going to speed up at this stage in his career, and he just doesn't have a natural frame for a footballer, so I wouldn't be surprised if he picks up a lot of injuries in his later years.

He's a good footballer, but I don't think he's a good signing for a top premier league team. Not saying we shouldn't sign a defender, not saying we should, I just wouldn't be keen on spending £20M+ on Hummels.

21 Apr 2016 20:00:46
To be honest I watched him closely those two Borussia games and he lacks a bit of pace on my opinion. No sure he would suit english game realy. In any case we have now a good central defender partnership developing, plus Matip joining in. let's leave the fourth spot at central defending for Gomez -with Lucas ready to help- and save some fat cash for other positions if needed.
Just my though.

21 Apr 2016 20:42:15
Sakho and Lovren are good, but Lovren can still be a bit naive defensively. This is only occasional mind, but Hummels is a world class defender and is one of the best ball playing defenders I've seen. Him and Sakho would be impervious imo, but - if I learnt anything from Professor APWBD - it does not do to dwell on dreams, and forget to live.

22 Apr 2016 04:46:07
No chance of Hummels IMO. If he is available, there will be others who can pay more, offer CL, and offer him a bigger wage.

21 Apr 2016 14:41:57
Imagine your stadium being called the bet365 stadium 😂😂.

Believable4 Unbelievable5

21 Apr 2016 16:21:27
Remember that stand almost being called "the bell end" haha.

21 Apr 2016 14:34:47
One thing i'm happy with lately is the goals headers fom centre back etc. Adds a dimension to the attack.

Believable10 Unbelievable4

21 Apr 2016 15:19:42
sakho the goal machine, who said he could not head a ball, I loved his celebration as well, long may it continue.

21 Apr 2016 15:27:02
Sakho's heading has certainly improved in recent weeks. Also our CBs simply have not contributed enough goals from corners and free kicks this season, so hopefully Klopp has been working on this in training.

21 Apr 2016 15:31:06
He's a diamond, won me 70 quid on a score anytime bet yesterday.

21 Apr 2016 12:34:42
Eds quick question for ye.

Firstly how good do you think origi is? Is he capable of being our first or second choice striker?

And secondly, not so much a question, but how would you compare origi to martial of United? Who is the better talent?

Believable1 Unbelievable6

{Ed001's Note - he is fully capable of being the first choice yes. He has the potential to be quality and has a fantastic manager for developing his talent. Little difficult to quantify how good though.

I would not compare the two as they are totally different types of players. Martial is pace and trickery, Origi is pace and power. Origi bullies defenders, Martial looks to flick it round them. It really depends on what you need or want from your player as to which you prefer. As a central striker, right now I would take Origi. As a winger, right now I would take Martial.}

21 Apr 2016 13:53:44
Great reply ed, thanks.

I was thinking about the millions we've wasted over the years on transfers and was thinking bout origi and coutinho and that we got great deals, and then the price United paid for martial.

{Ed001's Note - makes a change to find some good deals for us!}

21 Apr 2016 14:31:24
For us at the minute origi suits imho he keeps defenders buzy as he can hold up run in behind etc. The finishing and form of last few games impressed me hugely. Could probally do with martial type aswell as people want a winger and he could cover striker too but haven't seen much of him mabyee there's better players for the role.

21 Apr 2016 14:51:48
He may be all about power, but he's still tricky with the ball. He's basically similar to Drogba.

21 Apr 2016 15:09:08
Origi has all the tools for a modern CF. Pace, power, aerial ability, good touch, shoots with both feet, work ethic. Everything Benteke has without the stinky attitude and laziness. The kid`s got it all and with klopp in charge, he will only progress. Remember, Klopp brought in a little known 21 yr old CF named Robert Lewandowski and look at what he has become. Not saying Origi will be the new Lewa. Just saying that if Klopp could create a beast like him, why can`t he do the same for Origi who has the same attributes as Lewa`s?

21 Apr 2016 15:27:11
well said red, remember one of klopp's first quotes as Liverpool manager regarding origi " we are going to have fun with this player" like other posters I cannot wait to see what klopp can do for danny ings. This is also the reason that bentenke is surplus to requirements, I only hope his injury is not to bad and that we see him again in a Liverpool shirt this season.

21 Apr 2016 15:28:44
Redohio, let's not compare Origi to Lewandowski just yet. The kid just suffered a horrible injury and putting unnecessary pressure will just hinder his development. Even if he ended up half the player Lewandowski is today, i would be extremely happy and it would be 10 million well spent.

21 Apr 2016 19:27:40
All our best signings recently have been the Cheaper ones now! Cans come good, origi and even Milner is playing well. Going back further Sturridge, Coutinho.

21 Apr 2016 20:39:37
Looking at him last night against Stones who is meant to be the best English talent at CB, Origi had Stones head spinning with his tricks. a lot of the time I never notice all Origi tricks but at one stage last night, Origi had his back to the goal with Stone directly behind him. Origi recieved the ball on his right foot. gave it a flick as if he was going to turn on his right, in a blink of an eye he had changed the direction of the ball to his left. Stone was still heading right and Origi has left him for dead and got a shot off at the 18 yard line which the keeper saved. but I was in awe of the quick feet and thinking. I don't remember any Liverpool since John Barnes who could blow people away in a tight space. sorry of the rant. I'm still druling at the mouth lol.

21 Apr 2016 22:34:25
i don't think many everton fans are calling Stones the best English talent these days. Hyped FAR too much FAR too quickly and unfortunately (for the lad) its really messed with his head.

21 Apr 2016 10:15:28
Milner - 7 Goals and 14 Assists.

Will some people now give the man some credit?

Believable20 Unbelievable5

21 Apr 2016 13:02:04
The money he's on mate. He don't need credit.

21 Apr 2016 13:45:32
90% are since the turn of the year though, I think the critisism for the first half of the season has been fair.

21 Apr 2016 13:51:00
I can't tell if Gazza meant that 'credit' pun or not haha.

21 Apr 2016 14:13:37
I agree with Benny. First half of the season he was dreadful and deserved all the slating he received. The last couple of months he has been one of the stand out performers. I hate to say it as I didn't understand why we signed him but credit where credit is due. Actually the same can be said of Allen.

21 Apr 2016 14:30:47
I did MK 😉.

21 Apr 2016 14:33:26
As i said on the live chat get someone to pass to him from the corner in open play the crossing is good.

21 Apr 2016 14:52:45
Yeah, he was poor before January. But his productive return is great.

21 Apr 2016 14:53:24
His productive return is great, and this is the Milner that I was hoping for when we signed him.

21 Apr 2016 15:11:45
He`s the highest earner at the club so does he want a cookie? He`s doing what he was brought here to do.

21 Apr 2016 14:27:13
He is and will never be a CM, Yet again booked early on and strange Everton never went after him. When one of your midfield partner picks up a yellow early it restrict the other game considerably.
What is the surprises in his crossing? His major contribution at City were his Crossing abilities.
Playing him in the middle and asking him to dictate the game is foolishness and I wouldn't do that in million years ( nothing against the player as he isn't that type )

Peave out.

21 Apr 2016 14:31:40
Natural

I still don't understand y did we signed him. If we only need a wide player I would have got one specialist wide player.

21 Apr 2016 15:31:43
I was made up that Milner should be offloaded in the summer, but his recent form has been encouraging and consistent so i hope he will agree to remain a valuable squad player next season. Not a first team starter for me though. Lallana on the other hand is one i would look to offload because he is 28 and will still fetch a decent price, and it looks like the club wants Rafa Silva who will be a major upgrade on Lallana and is a similar player playing in a similar position.

21 Apr 2016 15:34:30
I criticised him at the start of the season I freely admit that, so I am more than prepared to praise him when he is in good form, I would still ban him from taking corners as his crosses are better when in open play, a dead ball specialist he ain't but those stats and performances have been impressive. He did well to avoid a red card after being booked in the derby so early as well and his versatility is a great asset for us.

21 Apr 2016 16:26:48
He couldn't pick out a red shirt from 5 yards in the first part of the season, he was running about like a headless hen.

21 Apr 2016 16:27:01
Redondo, disagree completely mate - do we want our players to view playing for Liverpool as just doing what they've been paid to do?

If not then why should we judge them on that basis?

21 Apr 2016 17:43:40
He's come up a lot in my estimation, I had him tagged as a grafter who was all effort and bluster and made, at best, a passable winger, but his crossing from open play has been excellent lately and he's gone from being a joke to possibly being one of the signings of the season. Players are often criticised for being all tricks and neat play, but ultimately little end product. Milner's the opposite, he's not doing anything fancy, but is coming up with the goods.

I still don't think he can play central midfield in effective way at all though. His positioning's ineffective and he relies on running around a lot, his passing from there isn't anything special and he can't tackle. His assists aren't coming from central areas, they're coming from the right and left.

If you notice though, he spent most of last night's match between the right-hand channel and the right wing, despite, nominally speaking, being in central midfield alongside Lucas. So I suspect Klopp's spotted it, and is moving towards having Milner operate from the right, although not necessarily as a "traditional" winger. I think with a couple more fit center mids, Milner will play to the right of two more disciplined central midfielders. And he should play well there.

21 Apr 2016 18:00:53
Wasn't just he couldn't pick out a red shirt, he quite spectacularly played through balls for City players and almost cost us a game we dominated with them. Also for me the stats are hiding that he has still been poor at basics on numerous occasions. Watching the matches doesn't reflect the love in.

21 Apr 2016 18:41:54
He's not the highest earner btw.

Plus if you blend other signings' transfer fee and wages, the tco is much higher in many cases (dependent on length of stay) .

21 Apr 2016 12:00:49
Considering the way we started off the season and then when Klopp came in would people be satisfied with the season we have had so far league cup final, possibility of a final europa league?

we can all see the effect Klopp has had on everyone as a whole and we are starting to come good 12 goals in the last 3 meetings at Anfield and now people are starting to take notice. let's just hope we can take this momentum into the next remaining weeks and into next season.

YNWA.

Believable10 Unbelievable3

21 Apr 2016 15:12:38
With all the probs we`ve had, an EL could still be in the works. Can`t believe it.

21 Apr 2016 15:44:20
The best thing that happened to us this season ally was the day jurgen klopp became Liverpool fc manager, everything will fall into place know he is here, the form we have shown since that Wembley heart break has been stunning barring that half against Southampton, I try not to get to exicited about the future but with him in charge I can't help myself. If we finish 6th and win the Europa league I will be more than satisified.

21 Apr 2016 16:31:55
When Klopp came in, I said I'd be happy if we didn't get into top 4, so long as we finished the season with a clear style of play, a consistent selection and a good run of confidence and form. Job done in my opinion and we are set up to challenge for top 4 or better next year.

21 Apr 2016 10:56:40
A Klopp miracle that seems overlooked from last night, Lucas Leiva got his first assist for the club since 19 Jan 2013, a run stretching 113 appearances. Congrats to the lad. Now if only Klopp can get him scoring the titles in the bag next season!

Believable13 Unbelievable2

21 Apr 2016 11:39:46
Loved it when everyone was laughing as Lucas poor shot at goal, just showed how relaxed and how everyone is enjoying their football.

21 Apr 2016 11:46:46
I think with the klopp reaction to Lucas shooting that even he thinks it's a lost cause haha.

21 Apr 2016 12:15:42
I think he was actually laughing in delight at the interplay before the shot guys, rather than at the concept of Lucas shooting. Evidence being his arms mimicking the ball sailing over helpless BS over and over. Also the shot wasnt that bad!

21 Apr 2016 12:55:14
Nah rekon he was laughing at the shot because after the nice 1-touch passing it went blaahhh.

21 Apr 2016 13:21:03
It was the interplay.

21 Apr 2016 14:07:52
You don't laugh like that at interplay guys, come on. He laughed because of the crap shot, hence Lucas laughing aswell.

21 Apr 2016 14:30:15
LFC website clears this up. He was laughing at the shot. in fact, why are we even discussing this. Who cares?!

21 Apr 2016 15:13:55
It just shows how relaxed everyone at the club is right now. Klopp has made us believe again which is massive for our club.

21 Apr 2016 17:58:27
to be honest what I am really happy to see is some team ethic back with the lads. In terms of during the derby, watching all the players celebrate together and seeing, as redohio said that everyone is that much more relaxed and becoming a proper team rather than the sullen behaviour towards the end of Brendan's reign. It was nice to see all of our outfield players around supporting Origi aswell (I know we shouldn't expect anything less but you get my point)

Long may it continue

ps. Sakho and Lovren bromance.

21 Apr 2016 10:36:24
Walking home last night there was an intoxicated homeless man who seemed like it had been a bad day to say the least. I asked him if he was okay to no reply, I was obviously in a great mood so I gave him the tenner I had on me and asked him to just make sure he got some food with it.
At this point he looked at me and said what was yes a mumble but I swear it was distinguishable as "reus 7".
So me anyway I'm taking this as reus is joining us guaranteed!

awful, it did look much worse than a sprain I thought, so 3-6 months recovery is that?

21 Apr 2016 10:04:50
Me too but he can rest up now, probably miss the Euros and be raring to go next season.
We have 7, hopefully 8, games left and we have Sturridge, Benteke and Fimino. We should have enough.
Fair play to Divock, he's had a really good first season.

21 Apr 2016 10:20:29
Hasn't he sprained his ankle ligaments?

21 Apr 2016 10:31:12
Where have you seen this? Been looking and haven't seen any comment since last night.

21 Apr 2016 10:55:58
Who has confirme this. I can't find any announcement from the club.

21 Apr 2016 11:05:39
Where are you getting the info from?

21 Apr 2016 10:59:14
He is shown that players need time. If u had told Liverpool supporters in October/ November that Origi would miss the final 8 games of the season and we would be gutted and miss him, you would have been laughed at. Great potential and hopes he comes back stronger from this.

21 Apr 2016 15:15:19
I haven`t seen this news anywhere yet so I`ll hold my water for in believing it.

21 Apr 2016 09:31:10
I know it's not quite of the same magnitude, but how good would it be to nick 4th off of City on the last day of the season?

It would be some form of revenge for when they robbed the title off us a couple of years back!

If we win our game in hand we are 4pts behind them with 4 other games to play. That's a big ask but stranger things have happened!

Just see the look on Pep's face when told they have Europa League.

21 Apr 2016 10:28:39
Or the look on the Sheikhs face when Pep joins a different team instead!

21 Apr 2016 15:15:39
That would be priceless.

Hi eds, so confused, has Liverpool's game v Swansea be rescheduled due to villeralle match? bt sports saying it's still 12.45 on Sat 30th surely can't be right?

21 Apr 2016 07:56:41
I feel that I mist comment on the Everton fans imitation of Man Utd last night. At times it was like listening to the Man U fans. To think that some of those fans had family or close friends who either lost their lives or suffered at Hillsborough and still were singing songs about it tells a lot. The victims song and Murderers songs do not belong at any match let alone a Merseyside Derby. I know it is only a minority but what is up with these people? Even though they were boo, d by their own fans. Are they real Scousers or is it the out of towners who feel that they have to be different.? Well, you get what you deserve and last night they got it. I know that football fans are never happy but last night made me happy.

Believable14 Unbelievable1

21 Apr 2016 08:10:49
It was not a minority. It was near enough the entire away section.

21 Apr 2016 08:16:19
The world is full of idiots. Some were bound to show up at Anfield last night. Whoever was chanting such disgusting stuff have no shame and certainly no place in society.

21 Apr 2016 08:31:17
Its bcos of people like u who giving them publicity at forum that they keep doing it. Dun mention about it and they will disappear.

21 Apr 2016 08:59:29
We also need to get our own house in order before we criticise other sets of fans. The Munich taunts need to stop.

21 Apr 2016 09:16:06
Agreed Ron, its just that its a bit different done by "your own", and it was not a minority Robbie, probably loudest chant (s) of the night, I honestly can't remember them singing a song for their team.

21 Apr 2016 09:23:50
Completely agree Ron. We need to lead by example and until we do that we can't complain.

21 Apr 2016 09:27:56
Couldn't agree more Ron.

21 Apr 2016 09:29:53
criticise I should say. These songs need to be wiped from football. It's just not in anyway remotely funny. People lost their lives in these horrific incidents.

Some fans really need to wake up.

But I'm sure I'm speaking to the fans true fans on here who would never sing those songs so my rant is probably pointless given the audience.

21 Apr 2016 09:40:41
Was the murderers chant not in retaliation?

Secondly that's the Manchester scum you expect them to sing stuff like that, but our own scousers? Liverpool as a whole lost that day, Everton fans losing brothers, Liverpool fans losing fathers. There's certain things tnsy shouldn't be near a match. How is it our fault we gave them a complete spanking, and that there manager has destroyed that team. Blame. him. not us. can't blame the. dog if he eats the steak after leaving in the floor. We just did what was needed.

21 Apr 2016 10:33:23
Ron is right but two wrongs don't make a right. Frankly, a lot of people over the last two months have shown that they are nothing more than kids who need their mum to give them a smack.

21 Apr 2016 10:47:58
Can't blame the dog if you leave the steak on the floor.
That's a new one 😂.

21 Apr 2016 07:46:05
I think that a lot of posters are going over the top about last nights result. I was, and am totally cheesed off with our team and what is going on. Yes, a 4-0 result is good but it should of been a lot more. 10 goals at least wouldn't have been out of the question. Why was Mignolet allowed into the ground to watch the game for free when we all had to pay? I think that the club should look into that. If any of us had entered the field of play and done nothing apart from celebrate we would be thrown out and prosecuted. Why not Mignolet? Double standards or what. All of this stuff about sacking a football manager of the calibre of Martinez is shocking. If Everton are going to sack him I will be very disappointed. I hope that he keeps his job and enjoys his days when he plays his old team Wigan, albeit in a different division.

Believable8 Unbelievable3

21 Apr 2016 08:12:41
Robbie I think you are being very harsh. Wigan have every chance to secure back to back promotions and return to the prem in 2017!

21 Apr 2016 08:22:22
Was about to have a rant from the top of the post 😂. True tho presume he can use those gloves again save a few quid.

21 Apr 2016 08:33:24
Hallo, it was not shown in screen but Mignolet was jotting down notes for Klopp yesterday games and he did run errand to fetch sandwich for daglish.

21 Apr 2016 09:13:56
Robles made Mignolet's kicking look world class. Maybe things aren't so bad after all?

21 Apr 2016 10:35:04
Hallo (not a word in my vocabulary) , I don't think so Leekuanyew, what game were you watching I didn't see anything of the sort. I see you trying to rile up these boys every day on this site and it's gotten to the point where the eds and I have given up with your attempts to provoke us Scouselads. I know you're probably a good lad but a fazed hand through the chest probably would do you a bit of good, certainly the site would be better off.
yours sincerely

21 Apr 2016 15:56:01
I think it was a test of mignolets concentration levels myself even his fellow country man mirrallas couldn't bring himself to test him by getting a shot on target, must be one of the easiest games of his life and this was in a derby, to really rub salt in the wounds klopp could have bought on danny ward in the 2nd half and let him experience a derby match 1st hand.

21 Apr 2016 04:17:36
A few thoughts from the game

1) Derby day can be a great measure of where you stand. the pressure is intense and everyone's up for it. This was a comprehensive reminder of how far Klopp has brought this team for real.

2) Gutted for Origi. absolutely gutted. Am glad we have Sturridge looking so dangerous, and he's clearly just as good if not better, but hope the young man comes back soon. His physicality has added an edge and tactical variety to this team.

3) Milner is really building a good case for his starting spot for the first time. His deliveries from out wide are really adding another dimension to our play. we can score in so many ways now. Also playing like a real captain in Hendos absence (even if he naturally looks better out wide) .

4) Still think Lucas looked a bit lacking in pace at times. Decent performance but I'm hoping we play 4-3-3 against Villareal away from home as Lucas and Milner do have their weaknesses in defence and think we could do with the cover. Lucas/ Milner/ Allen away from home anyone?

5) Top 4 is remote but not impossible, City still have Stoke, Southampton and Arsenal to play. can easily see a loss and a draw somewhere in there, and if we win all our games from here? . Let's focus on EL by all means but I can't help but glance at a the tables with an ever growing level of interest.

6) Mori was a complete embarrassment. Tackle was poor but you might excuse that as not deliberate. Kissing your badge after having injured another player however is a complete disgrace.

7) Absolutely loved the "Ole's" though. pissed myself laughing and that must have been the ultimate embarrassment for the blues after trying to muscle/ injure us out of the game. Bull vs. the Matador was only ever going to have one winner on this day.

What a game lads, up the Reds!

Well it seems pretty apparent that the only difference between Rodgers and Martinez is that Martinez is Spanish, has a trophy, and is a bit less insufferable.

Believable7 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - and Martinez has relegation on his CV.}

21 Apr 2016 05:14:31
Bobby Martinez is the Spanish Brendan, everyone knows that. The Eds were right about both these charlatans all along. They talk a sophisticated game to appear as geniuses but they have no clue how to run a football team.

{Ed001's Note - I never thought I could feel sorry for Everton fans, as I always thought I would be too busy winding them up if they were struggling. However last night changed that. I felt truly sorry for them watching their team be Brodgered by Bobby.}

21 Apr 2016 05:40:51
Lol Ed001. got to agree on that. Must have been the longest 90 mins for Everton fans on derby day. If Martinez is still there next season, it will be a relegation scrap for them. Their fans certainly deserve better than this.

{Ed001's Note - I can't see any case for keeping him. The guy is utterly incompetent and that was obvious at Wigan. It is bizarre they chose him and we considered him.}

21 Apr 2016 08:17:35
Were it not for the chanting I might feel sorry for them. Now those lads could discover that the reason he's poor is that he's exhausted from getting on all of their better halves and I would still just smile.

21 Apr 2016 08:27:18
I really did not understand the 'always the victims' chants from the blues 'fans'. I thought that is a chant directed at scousers in general?! Because Liverpool is supposedly 'self pity city'? They are either really stupid, or it was abkut hillsborough, which is really surprising and disappointing from Everton fans to be honest - out of all our rivals they are by far the most sympathetic for the hillsborough victims. Baffling, really.

21 Apr 2016 09:19:34
I think he is one of those guys who talks a good game, but when it comes to the crunch they fall short.

21 Apr 2016 15:37:08
Ed, Martinez and BR are cut from the same cloth, Siamese twins if you like. Professional fraudsters who can`t coach their way out of a paper back but sure can talk you to death about pointless platitudes that have no basis in fact nor reality. the fact that these two charlatans were looked at to coach us shows how much or very little FSG knew about the game of football. Martinez is even worse than BR as in, they guy talks so much that even his players come out to disqualify his pathetic claims. I have felt sorry for them since last season and with this season ending with a whimper (they will get hammered by Utd on Sat), they had better sack him or he will do to them exactly what he did to Wigan.

21 Apr 2016 16:09:42
it is only going to get worse for the blues at the weekend, imo Martinez has only survived this long because he is a media darling, Leighton baines was right with his rant about the state of everton's season but surely the manager should have backed him up as he was only stating facts. I told ed0025 that with new owners/ investment that should come with a new manager, nobody on the blue half of Merseyside is going to argue with me today, when you consider the squad he has he has failed miserably, the key point for me is that I can see the players have lost complete faith in the man's ability to manage them, he needs to go as soon as possible, it reminds me of our last days under Brendan Rodgers, another manager with the same squad would be doing so much better.

21 Apr 2016 00:42:31
So tonight was great and there were some really good confident displays by players we doubted earlier this season. My questions are looking to the weekend. Are we going to see multiple changes and a youthful line up? I personally think we should be wary of Newcastle as they are fighting for survival and have everything to lose. Also how do people think Rafa the waiter will be received at Anfield in his return?

Believable7 Unbelievable4

21 Apr 2016 01:49:24
Not too worried about our approach to the Newcastle game. After handing a true beat down to the hapless Bitters, we'll be ready. Klopp never overlooks an opponent.

21 Apr 2016 02:26:18
I hope Rafa gets a good reception, we had some good moments under him. It's a shame we have to play them as I'd like Rafa to keep them up, but I hope we put on another performance like today and batter them at the same time.

21 Apr 2016 02:51:05
I actually believe Klopp when he says that he's only making the changes to win games and not to rest players. He said in the post match press conference that the last 30 minutes of the derby were not intensive at all. Given he said that he might not change the line up as much though.

21 Apr 2016 04:43:55
The Newcastle game will be way more difficult than the derby. They want to stay up and will bring their 'A' game, and they have Rafa who is a very good manager. I hope Klopp plays our best available team, and maybe give youngsters like Stewart and Ojo some game time towards the end.

21 Apr 2016 04:54:43
I feel we will field a so called 'second string' side again and probably get a draw out of it, which is a decent result considering Newcastle will be playing like their lives depended on it and our younger lads get the opportunity to be in a contested match. Not going to lie, would like to see Brannagan at some point as well as the others.

Rafa is a true part of this club and he loved us as much as we loved him. He should get an amazing reception. He isn't the Spanish waiter around our bits.

21 Apr 2016 07:46:44
Rafa will be given a great reception. He's loved for way more reasons than just what he did with the football club. He's considered one of us.

21 Apr 2016 07:56:19
"Rafa the waiter"?

Rafa is a legend in my book:
he took a fairly ramshackled squad and turned them into champions of Europe, number 1 ranked team in Europe, super cup winners, FA cup winners, runners up in the champions league and runners up in the premier league. He also got us to stuff Man Utd 4-1 at Old Trafford and stuff Real Madrid 4-0 at Anfield in the same week.

On top of that he has done a tremendous amount for the Hillsbrough families and other local groups. He loves LFC and never has a bad word to say about the club.

Happy for others to see it differently but in my opinion we were lucky to have Rafa and I'm certain the Kop will not forget him and will give him the great reception he thoroughly deserves.

Then we'll smash his team to bits 😄.

{Ed001's Note - as a man I love Rafa.}

21 Apr 2016 08:37:27
Tactically RB is better than klopp. Motivationally klopp is better than rafa.

21 Apr 2016 09:05:02
Wasn't it Rafa who brought King Kenny back to the club is some role?

21 Apr 2016 09:46:32
Reading. yoyr post there rob just looks like it will be the klopp story.

I do t want tbag. I don't want the Liverpool team. who can beat Norwich but take city to the cleaners with 4/ 5-0's.

I just want to have a consistent team now that wins 1-0 and get the league.

I love these special nights but want a league title and to be top 4 consistently! Always in it not always grabbing it last game.

21 Apr 2016 09:10:18
Rafa lived out club more than we loved him. His family still reside in Liverpool says about the man. You might not like his tactics but he bleeds Liverpool. The fans should give him a fantastic ovation on Saturday.
Alonso was his findings. Simple.

21 Apr 2016 15:40:38
Ron, Rafa isn`t better than klo in any way tactically. Rafa played not to lose games and set us up to draw games instead of setting us up to win. Klopp does the exact opposite of that. Klopp has achieved more without the funds Rafa has had at his disposal so tactically, he is better. Go watch the second half of the BVB game where we switched to a 442 diamond which blew BVB away. That was a tactical masterclass that Rafa himself would be proud of.

21 Apr 2016 16:14:10
let's give him the reception he deserves and then give Newcastle a thrashing as I am still peeved about that 2-0 loss we suffered, it is very important we keep the momentum going.

21 Apr 2016 19:20:13
Not going to argue ex-manager vs current manager because you know who I always back - BUT no way has Kloppo achieved more than Rafa. He hasn't had the time or funds so it's not surprising but please, let's not try and play down Rafa's incredible achievements.

21 Apr 2016 00:19:09
Got a confession to make:
Once they were one man down, four goals down, had no centre back on the pitch and were still trying to play their way out of dangerous positions, I actually felt SORRY for the bitters.
Say what you want about them being our rivals, but the Ev are a good, old club even if we are taught to hate 'em and I can't help but sympathise with their fans after that. Obviously I love watching them suffer but there's a tinge of guilt there which is nowhere to be seen when Chelsea or United are on a bad run.
It's got to be said though, that performance from Everton was an absolute disgrace- comparable to our 6-0 loss at the Britannia in terms of lack of fight, spirit and belief in the manager.

Believable13 Unbelievable3

21 Apr 2016 01:07:51
Actually agree! Went to game and normally really enjoy derbies (even when we have lost) as normally an intense and exciting affair where I can enjoy banter with my blue nose friends. but that wasn't even a training session.

Posted about a combined Mersey XI and whilst I personally think they have good players what I saw tonight was a shocking lack of heart or desire to play. Have seen teams with nothing to play for and this was worse.

Loved the performance from our team (genuinely thought we were fantastic) but second half was like watching a cat play with a dead mouse. Struggling to think of a time a team seemed to care less, which somewhat ruined it for me. Sat with a few Everton lads and last 45 minutes wasn't banter but genuine awkwardness about how bad and limp they were.

Think it shows what affect a manager can have, genuinely don't think there is much between the talent of the two teams just a massive difference between desire and belief.

{Ed007's Note - Were you sitting at the ground with Everton fans?}

21 Apr 2016 01:20:00
Have a group of mates that split tickets and had a few spare, few evertonian mates took them up. after 60 mins stopped winding them up and started offering my condolences.

Was like watching Mike Tyson beat up a puppy.

{Ed007's Note - That's mental lol I can't see that catching on in Scotland. I wouldn't mind taking in a Merseyside derby, the general friendliness around it sounds so surreal to somebody brought up in the middle of the Celtic/Rangers divide.}

21 Apr 2016 02:06:23
Genuine shame, love derby day and is first match I look for when seasons fixtures get announced.

If not at match go to pub with mates or have a bbq at someone's with a mixed group. Genuinely fun day as everyone I've met in the city have a laugh and banter with each other. Would recommend any footie fan who can get tickets to a Derby to go and go round town for the day!

Tbf can't wrap me head around people getting aggressive over football and in fairness ended up having a meal with some Chelsea lads night before fa cup final few years back and a well funny ride to cup final this year with city fans. saying that took turns chanting about how we hate United and probably strengthened southerners views about northerners being drunken and loud.

{Ed007's Note - A mutual hatred of someone is always a good ice-breaker. The last time I bumped into Chelsea fans they hit my Mrs with a plastic bottle of piss from across the road.}

21 Apr 2016 04:36:16
Here in Australia, I am removed from having friends/ family support Everton.

I sat with my 7 year old son for a 5am kickoff and we were loving it. Every time they showed the shell-shocked Blues fans on tv, my young fella giggled!

We absolutely loved it when the "Olay" chants started up.

It was awesome - not once did we feel sorry for anyone - just pure joy!

Thank you LFC - a treasured memory with my 7 year old boy!

21 Apr 2016 05:01:17
Although I hate Everton especially for the way they acted at the end of the 13-14 season, I did kind of pity them, which tbh is kind of a sad thing. I didn't really feel that for Chelsea when they were down at the bottom. I think if anything like this happened to utd I would find the pleasure somewhat comparable to good s**. I would never feel sorry or pity any Spurs, Utd or Chelsea fans.

21 Apr 2016 06:44:49
Feel sorry for them are you real. They sang victim songs to us last night referring to Hillsborough! I personally hate them and everything that club is about, they will always be second best in Liverpool and I loved watching them suffer. Next up the Mancs beat them in the semi's haha.

21 Apr 2016 10:26:34
I hate them. last night was hilarious.

21 Apr 2016 00:09:06
I have to be honest I've given Sakho and in particular Lovren some real stick in the past but I hold my hands I was wrong. Their form of late has given us a great base to work from and seems to have given Migs more confidence too. Fair play to both of them they have really stepped up and look a quality, determined pairing at the back.

Believable14 Unbelievable1

21 Apr 2016 00:50:54
I agree they are looking better and have put some impressive displays recently however at times we have been shaky and vulnerable as we still find it hard to keep clean sheets (Southampton, Dortmund and Spurs. I'll leave Bournemouth off as the back four was not the first choice of players mention in the original post) . I don't want to sound all negative but I think we are a classy ball playing centre back short from being comfortable and more solid at the back even with the wing forwards bombing on. I miss the days of Hyypia controlling things and Carragher bossing the team and giving confidence to people around them. Summer transfer window is going to interesting to see how Klopp views the players and who stays.

21 Apr 2016 08:24:25
Sorry but are you genuinely using the fact that the second best attacking duo in Europe broke through a couple of times, and the highest scoring team in the league scoring a wonder strike from a player with his back to goal, as a reason to dig at our CB's? Come on fella, you're trying awful hard to be overly negative here. And we conceded all 3 vs Soton when Lovren was taken off and Skrtel bought on.

21 Apr 2016 10:06:36
I agree hjikle. Dortmunds front 3 are a class act and have shown they can score against anyone. Spurs looked like they could play for a week and not score against us until a worldy from Kane. There's a togetherness and determination about Lovren and Sakho that I haven't seen since Carra and Hyypia. They mean every tackle and invariably win their tackles. They've been brilliant for me and they deserve massive credit for coming through adversity to be a strong, solid partnership. Yes they have faults but so does everyone!

20 Apr 2016 23:25:10
Great performance tonight. Everton were awful but you can only beat what's there and 8/ 9-0 wouldn't have flattered us.

On an unrelated note; have any of the Eds heard confirmation of the venue for the LFC/ Barca pre season match being held in Dublin as yet?

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed007's Note - There's still nothing confirmed about the venue yet.}

20 Apr 2016 23:39:07
Milner had yet another solid game tonight. Shocking, given how many people have deemed him not good enough.

Origi was deemed not good enough too. And Lovren and Sahko and so on.

So, how about we just get behind the players chosen to play until the gaffer decides they're not good enough? Ignore the bad and get behind the good.

Great win by the way.

Believable9 Unbelievable2

21 Apr 2016 00:31:11
In all serious Clarky none of them were good enough under Rodgers, it's the Klopp effect!

21 Apr 2016 01:54:28
None of them were good because BR was incompetent and was too busy trying to charm us all into believing he was a good manager, exactly what Martinez is doing now. There may be a Klopp effect but to me, there isn't. He's not a genius and doesn't claim to be one. He is an honest, hardworking coach who respects his players and truly wants them to succeed. Players and fans can relate to that and will support him all the way. That is the job of a coach, end of.

21 Apr 2016 04:45:00
That was not a hard game to look good in though. That performance by Milner reminded me of what he did at City at times. It just isn't often enough though. He is a good squad player, and useful on his day, but I don't think he is guaranteed starting material, or captain material.
