I know he has only had 8 games but with a club of our stature we can't afford to take any hostages. sorry roy nothin personal mate but not just anyone can walk into and stay in the anfield dugout. maybe 20years ago you would have got the time but its a cut throat business in todays game. let kenny have the job until may that way if things don't pick up he can resume his duties at the club. remember this isn't just any club this is liverpool football club.

'Long time lurker & would like to offer interpretation for those that refuse to see. This is crystal clear.

Benitez was pushed & pushed to comment on this & in less cryptic terms Benitez is saying that after finishing 2nd , a new MD was appointed & whilst listening to a couple of players, one year later had changed everything at LFC right down to the tea lady(exaggeration for emphasis).

In English terms Rafa is saying 'LFC has a NEW LAWYER, NEW PRESS OFFICER, NEW MANAGER, NEW FITNESS STAFF, NEW MEDICAL STAFF & NINE NEW PLAYERS & you want me to take the s* t for them being at the bottom of the league! P* * off'

Count your new players this summer - Konchesky, Aurelio, Poulsen, Merilies, Cole, Shelvey, Jovanovic, Wilson, Jones - that's right, NINE.

That's NINE new players in a 25 man 1st team squad. Over one third of the squad!

So the club did all this & removed 12 players from the 1st team squad (Riera, Aurelio, Benayoun, Mascherano, Aquilani, Insua, El Zhar, Nemeth, Degen, San Jose, Plessis, Cavaleri) & some still want to blame him!

& before someone says but him & him were Benitez signings. Save it. You have no idea how Benitez intended to utilise them. Remember Real Madrid were the main rival for Jovanovics services.

What you're seeing on the pitch is the clash of two differing football philsophies. Team personnel to perform a dominating possession based game being used in passive direct style. We've been here before so we should all be very familiar with it. The latter style requires aerially dominant centre halves (Hyppia & Henchoz), pure defenders at full backs, 2 static banks of four & a big man up front (Heskey). Hodgson will be fine if he can get to January & sign the dominant centre half & big man up front. It aint going to win a league or champions league but it will get mid table. The question is do LFC really want to go down this road again? I don't. My mind goes back to Houlliers reign & Benitez early days & our visits to OT, Highbury, etc. LFC camped in our own half waiting for a mistake from them or a set piece. It was very hard to watch. Compared to the latter days of Benitez reign & going to the same places, performing as equals, dominating possession & asking them the questions. & for those that created this clash of football cultures it should be a sackable offence on its own.

That some fans can't take this statement for what it is reminds me of Fergusons continued defence of the Glazers despite all the evidence out there (club accounts, etc) illustrating the truth ie. white liquid in a bottle = milk.

Its as plain as the nose on your face.

Here's another saying 'You reap what you sow' A lot of LFC fans & players, both current & former, have been diligently sowing for quite some time now. Now its harvest time. .

Another saying 'You get what you deserve in this life' & we as a club are getting exactly what we deserve lest we forget that our fans booed the team off the pitch versus West Ham when we went top of the league after years of not being there.

If a double LaLiga & UEFA Cup winning manager who wins us the European cup, then sells the entire squad for under £50m, & takes us back to the final with only 2 of the previous managers signings (Finnan & Riise) in his starting XI & we're actually there on merit, made us the No1 club in europe & paired with improvement in an ever tougher league can't have our undivided support then who does deserve it? Oh hang on, I'll answer that, according to some - the European respected, feted coach of 35 years experience with numerous trophies from two countries he hopes never to work in again - Roy Hodgson. Rafa doesn't need us - he won major trophies before he joined us & he'll win major trophies now he's gone. We were very fortunate to have gotten him. We on the other hand are about to enter what Valencia are just emerging from, the difference being they had a lot higher to fall from. Some fans will, like the ownership situation, continue to live in denial.

Alls well, Steve Bruce et al likes us now.

By the way, the cringeworthy embarrassing 'Joe Cole of Liverpool Fc. How good does that sound?' summer thread demonstrated all anyone needed to know about the current demise of this club.

And on the pitch a demonstration of our demise - our new coach arranges for our new signing to take a penalty in what he calls a key game when the player admits he hasn't taken a penalty in a competitve game since he was 13 years old! Only the reputed worlds best striker was on the pitch at the time! & some still try to defend him!

Stop fighting each other, stop fighting the mediocrity - embrace it, let it lap over you. Ingerlund, Ingerlund!
. . Roysgottago'

Great post lad, absolutly spot on. Some of our fans have short memeroies, either that or their a very fickle bunch. Never wanted rafa to go, but i guess some fans forget what he done for our club. Kealy

WHAT IS THIS GUY ON? MEIRELES IS QUALITY,

* 4. Meireles - He is too weak to play in the centre, falls over alot and runs around like a headless chicken. we need to start him on course of steriods, He isn't ready for the premiership

Im sorry to say, but Meireles is not quality, he got builled by yakubu against everton. This isn't the first time iv seen him running around like a headless chicken. He need to get stronger.

JOVANOVIC,

* 14. Jovanovic - Ok this guy has shown that he knows where the goal is and is able to score goals. Play him as a striker. He need him putting goals in the net. Looked good when he ran at everton. Just play him upfront with Torres

Jovanovic can score goals and we need goals. He is a striker and not midfielder. He also made a good run today against napoli

LUCAS(2ND BEST CENTRE MID? SHELVEY IS BETTER THAN LUCAS)

* 21. Lucas - at the moment lucas should be playing in the centre with gerrard because he is prob our second best midfield centre.

Well at this moment in time Lucas + Gerrard would be my centre pairing. Everyone else at the club is ever too young or too weak to handle the premiership

AND MAXI ALL GARBAGE PLAYERS AND SHOULD NEVER EVER BE IN THE 1ST TEAM!

* 17. Maxi - Let maxi play seems to have nice touch, but he too could use a rocket stuck up his ass. No work rate. hope dirk kuyt come back soon

well considering we have to work with the players we have. Then Maxi all we have left at the club. So we will have to let him play. He is rubbish, but he is our rubbish and he has to play

AND AS FOR INSUA AS AN ATTACKING OPTION?
WOW SOME OF OUR FELLOW RED FANS HAVE NO CLUE ABOUT FOOTBAL.

* - Insua - I would like to see him back too in jan with Rikjard, At least he would give us a attacking option

Again these owners are not going to spend money so the coach will have to work with what he has. Insua isn't great but he does add something going forward.

RE: Torres.

Everyone knows that liverpool will lose torres sooner or later. Why don't we deal with man city. i don't want to see him at man utd.

This is just like Yaya Touré deal. city paid good money for Toure, then bara turned up at liverpool and gave us a rubbish deal for mascherano because he wasnt happy,

We are going to get f-ed when rooney goes to man city. Torres will go to unit for alot less and we will be sitting here with nothing. So why don't liverpool deal with man city over taking Torres now and get a better deal and few players thrown in like Adebayor + bellamy.

Rooney will be forced to move to italy or spain for alot less money and liverpool will win in this deal. Man utd will be forced to spend big to get Eto style replacement.

21 Oct 2010 23:16:48

Do people really want to see adebeyor at Liverpool with all his disruptive behaviour. The answer to this problem is simples we need two wingers, Elia and Afellay. With this pair your not relying on Gerrard and Torres goals. To be fair right now who can score goals for Liverpool in the premiership

When 0 from Defence
0 from Midfield(Unless Gerrard)
odd goal from Attack (From Ngog now
Torres is off the boil)

Surely all the moaning and groaning would stop if we saw pacey wingers attacking the opposition box.

As for Babel its over your never a striker you don't even know what you are. Alway non clinical when a chance falls your way.

21 Oct 2010 23:14:42

Just wanted to say, why are we not giving the kids a chance. We have the best spanish youngster and the perfect game to play him in tonight but roy does not pick him. The kids where our best players tonight and shown a desire and work rate that has been missing in recent weeks. If arsenal had the youngsters we have they would be playing a lot more. It works for them so why won't it work for us. It really frustrates me that we are not playing them and letting them grow. They will learn nothing in the reserves.

On the manager point, i don't think any of the names being linked will do much better. We need a manager who is a motivator and will bring back a true team spirit. I would like to see O'neil. He will get the players working together and also he is a strong man in the dressing room who demands respect.

21 Oct 2010 23:13:22

I read this site from Australia on a daily basis and am a passionate fan. My question is this, why when we have an opportinuty to try new things and blood young players to we stick to the same formula that hasnt worked so many times before.

Fair enough Shelvy and Wilson got a start but why did we persist with Ngog & Babel? ?
They have failed repeatedly! !

I would love to see Pacheco & Jova starting up front for something different. I think they would be a much better combination however if I am proven wrong and they don't perform are we any worse off than what we are trying now?

21 Oct 2010 23:13:13

Two players that I think could do wonders for us are two of meireles old mates from Porto: Hulk and Cristian Rodriguez.
Hulk is in the same mold as Tevez and I think he has scored in every match I have seen him play. Rodriguez is a talented left winger

I am for one absolutely gutted with Hodgson being happy with that dire performance our second string is not very good at all.
Kelly can't pass to save his life.
Spearing the next gerrard my arse.
Jovanovic played better in the second half but that aint saying much.
Babel what a complete donkey.
Ngog Tried hard lack of service.
Skrtel i thought played well.
Konchesky OMG He is Worse than Dossena. should play aurelio left back.
Shelvey Showed potential needs time.
Poulsen Roy has made a massive mistake think we are missing Aquilani.

Liverpool were bad tonight I don't care what anyone says we are LFC we should be dissapointed not happy about that result.

Sack Hodgson guy is clueless.

Thankyou please.

P.s We should buy coutinho from Inter Now that's what u call Class not flippin Jay spearing.

21 Oct 2010 23:08:49

I'd prefer to watch liverpool go out and attack and go for goals and lose than to watch the rubbish tactics we are playing and draw. FFS Roy you must know that this isn't the right job for you. Man up and ask for a mutual resignation. I'll help tip in for your payout.Christ I think most fans would tip in. Fans around the would would accept losses if we were trying to win. Merchandise sales must be taking a hit ATM.Lets get in a new manager and new assistant and get these guys playing for their contracts. Still plenty of points left in the season to make top four but harsh decisions need to be made now.

21 Oct 2010 23:00:53

To all the deluded people who want Roy H to stay, just remember the following:

(A) WE'VE NEVER STARTED THE SEASON AS BAD US THIS FOR ABOUT 50-80 YEARS
(B) WE WONT WIN GAMES WITH HIS NEGATIVE TACTICS
(C) WE WONT WIN GAMES WITHOUT WIDTH IN THE TEAM
(D) HIS SIGNING 'POULSEN' IS A LIABILITY
(E) HOW ARE WE GOING TO WIN WHEN WE CAN'T SCORE GOALS, IF ROY CHANGED THE FORMATION TO BE MORE ATTACKING WE MIGHT
(F) OUR BEST STRIKER GETS NO SERVICE SO CANT SCORE, SO WE DON'T WIN
(G) JOHNSON IS NOT A RIGHT BACK
(H) MEIRELES IS A CENTRAL MIDFIELDER NOT A RIGHT SIDED ONE.
(I) WHY ARE WE TRYING TO STOP THE LIKES OF THE MIGHTY BLACKPOOL FROM SCORING AND PLAYING FOR A DRAW. . .HE THINKS THIS IS HOW WE SHOULD PLAY AGAINST BLACKPOOL.
(J) HODGSON THINKS WE SHOULDN'T BE EXPECTING TO WIN AWAY AGAINST EVERTON AND THINKS IT WAS A GOOD PERFORMANCE. . . ERM NOM IT WASN'T WE GOT PLAYED OF THE PARK AND GOT BEAT 2-0
(K) HE ISN'T EXACTLY INSPIRING THE PLAYERS WITH HIS NEGATIVE COMMENTS IN POST MATCH INTERVIEWS
(L) HE THINKS HE'S STILL MANAGING A MID TABLE CLUB AND THATS WHERE HE EXPECTS US TO FINISH.

so after u've read the facts, maybe u'll change yr mind. . .
ed, sorry for the caps, have i left anything out, apart from his gaffe about Torres? {ed's note - I think you have covered most things mate.}

21 Oct 2010 22:56:58

Dear Mr CapsLock. .regarding. ."IT REALLY FUSTRATES ME TO SEE HOW LIVERPOOL FANS REACT, SACK THE MANAGER THE SHOUTS ARE. I KNOW WE HAVE BEEN TERRIBLE OF LATE THE WORST I SEEN BUT HE STILL NEEDS TIME SOME HAVE HIS DECISIONS HAVE BEEN BAD I ACCEPT THAT BUT EVERYONE MAKES BAD DECISIONS I PERSONALLY THINK THIS WILL TURN AROUND IF WE GET RID OF HIM NOW IT WOULDNT BE FAIR AND ITS NOT THE LIVERPOOL WAY.

So what you are basically saying is that the guy is crap, repeatedly makes the wrong decisions and this is the worst that you have seen LFC play. .but fcuk that we must support him nonetheless. In my humble opinion, that is a seriously misplaced sense of loyalty you have there my friend. Ever heard of a bad decision? That is what Roy's appointment has been. I am sure he is a very genuine and lovely man. He is just not the right calibre to be our manager.

Frenchy.

21 Oct 2010 22:56:23

Not to be too harsh on the youngsters but I think peoples comments of bringing in pacheco for more games and shelved are frankly deluded. Kelly is an ok player who lacks pace but we simply don't have any youth nearly good enough to step in at the moment.

Remember we have had gerrard, Thompson, Owen, carra, mcmanaman, fowler all come through. If pacheco was that good he would start every game, especially as we look so poor in attack this season.

21 Oct 2010 22:54:46

One way or another Roy won't be at LFC at the end of the season. If he doesn't leave or get sacked he'll be dead from a heart attack due to the stress. His red face looks like its going to explode half the time and once (I assume) hes had his pills he comes out with drivel like his post derby interview. I like the man but hes deluded and we can't go on like this. He either gets us winning now or step aside and I wouldn't mind Rijkaard. If this Torres/ Agger refusing to play for him thing is true then get rid of him if he hasnt got the team behind him hes pointless.

21 Oct 2010 21:57:16

What happened Too the Liverpool that would go out and attack Real Madrid from the off and Score 4 goals. Now We can't get 1 against Napoli. Everton + Utrecht! Roy is not a Bad man, He's Just the wrong man! . We need too sack him before its too late "/ . And i would Prefer Kenny too Rjikard. What do u think ed? {ed's note - I think I would prefer Rijkaard to Kenny, I am afraid of him not being able to succeed. I don't want him to ruin the legend with a poor run of results.}
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I wouldn't have Kenny back! Could you imagine if dare i say it we were relegated with Kenny at the helm.

IF Roy stays in charge untill January we are f*cked. Then if we do bring a new manager in he needs time to scout and buy his own players.

I really fear for us IF Roy stays in charge. the negativity round the team/ squad is unbelievable at the momment. And there's no doubt in my mind that Roy's tactic's are playing a major part in that negativity.

Blair Mayne YNWA

PS. Shelvey is twice the player Poulson is!

21 Oct 2010 22:50:10

Roy isn't a tactically inept manager just old fashion. He wants to look at each player and formation for players as he can and build slowly the old fashion way. The problem he has is there is no time. Rafa over achieved with a decent team for his whole 5 - 6 years at Liverpool. As crazy as he was he is a genius. All that has happen is Liverpool over the last two years never built on any of rafa's success with this average time and the rest of the premiership has caught up or surpassed Liverpool. Now to fix this we need to find a genius and some money. Until this happen we have to except these performances I am afraid. If a genius is found before January then there is hope for the mighty red's after all 'If the liquid in the bottle is white then its Milk'

Ed don't get me wrong I'm as peed off as the next fan about the way we are playing, but what's gone wrong? The fulham players and fans adored hodgson? ? {ed's note - I don't get why things have been quite this bad. I thought Hodgson would be a good stabilising influence to get us through the take over and then be replaced by a long term option at the end of the season.}

21 Oct 2010 22:36:53
Tonight's game, I thought Milan played well.

He should play upfront in a 442. we should start looking through the squad for a player that can run on the wing + cross. must have someone

21 Oct 2010 22:35:39

Apologies if I am repeating other comments but from the game tonight I confess that I really do not understand a few of Roy's decisions.

1. Why would you swap out a centre half at half time? This was not a friendly FFS.

2. Why swap a LB for a LB? I honestly thought he would be playing Aurelio at LM when I saw him on the sidelines but he just did a straight swap. What did that give us that was different FFS?

3. So far we have x2 defensive swaps for no apparent gain. . FFS!

4. What the flying fcuk was Babel doing on that pitch after the half time whistle blew? To think that we knocked back a shedload of cash from the mighty Birmingham City for him. I'd swap that waster for a can of cherry cola. Who the fcuk is still going to defend that waster? Anyone that does seriously needs to give their head a wobble.

5. Why doesn't JJ Shelvey get more of a shout?

6. A point away isn't a bad thing, but Napoli would have been battered by any of the old LFC teams.

7. Tom werner said in his interview that NESV were intent on giving Roy time. Christ, I hope he wasn't serious. .

Frenchy.

21 Oct 2010 22:31:53

I wish Babel would be given a chance through the middle in these europa games. Tonight, once again he failed to shine but he is not a winger and for me never will be. When Ngog plays its always as a centre forward, why isn't he shifted out onto one of the wings.
Would torres have done as well as has done to date stuck out on the left wing. And i'd also like to have a look at Jova playing upfront too, would give much more of a physical presence than Ngog.
Shelvey and Spearing both give good accounts of themselves, so from now on Roy have the balls to play either of them before Lucas and Poulsen.

21 Oct 2010 22:15:54

Hulk scored a brace tonight! that's 8 goals and 4 assits in 7 games. Please please please roy sign him before manure! We must surely now have the finances and setup to not miss out on this obvious gem of a player.

21 Oct 2010 22:14:21

Perfect result for Roy - played not to lose again, and achieved his goal. No doubt he will see the result as favourable - he is so tactically inept that man - he must have thought this job was going to be easy, because surely he didn't back his technical or motivational abilities - up at 4am down here in Oz to watch yet another disjointed display. On the plus side, Shelvey showed some good stuff. In contrast, Poulsen is a waste - we are better off playing with ten men, than with him on the pitch - LIVERPRES

21 Oct 2010 22:13:45

Roy's comments after the match.

He said, "It was a very positive performance in many respects and a good point – a point maybe many people didn't think we would be capable of getting here with the team selected.

"But the team proved people wrong in that respect and their efforts on the field were very commendable. I don't think we should be anything other than delighted with the fact we played well, got the point and are still top of the table.

"All of us in this group are going to be required to do that (rest players) if we're going to take the league serious, in particular for Napoli and ourselves in important leagues, we need to make certain we use the players at our disposition. If your squad is any good, the players will be able to step up and deal with it.

"That was definitely the case for us tonight. We stepped up to the plate and dealt with it. A lot of players, like Jonjo Shelvey, we're doing so for the very first time and we did it in a very tough atmosphere. Napoli is a difficult place to come and play at any time.

"Tonight we have to be satisfied with a good result after a good performance and I think we deserved it."

Like i said yesterday "Roy is losing touch wth reality".

Roy is a bigger t* t than he looks. he thought we were good again. said he's here for long hall. better get ready for the likes of Cardiff middlesbrough and burnley.john w henry has been ripped off.psv elnino Agree or don't agree

21 Oct 2010 22:08:07

I think we seriously need to get Shelvey and Pacheco into the lineup but I am not sure if they would be preferred to our more senior players in the middle. What do we think of Pacheco on the left and Jonjo on the right? I think they could both put in some decent balls to Torres. Thoughts?

This is the first time I've posted on here. There are a lot of positives to take from tonight's game. However I think Roy's descisions mean it's time for a new manager. To deliberately take off a defender at half time, and then another defender not long after means he should go. Using 2 of your 3 subs in defence is a criminal offence, even if we should be concentrating on the PL. Joe Cole should have been on from the start, and Babel should be sold immediately. I'm really frustrated at our tactcis, and there's only one person to blame.

21 Oct 2010 22:07:01

Hodgsons reaction to tonights game: ". .their efforts on the field were very commendable. I don't think we should be anything other than delighted with the fact we played well, got the point and are still top of the table."

Im almost lost for words. How can any manager in any level of the game declare themselves delighted with a performance like that!? Napoli were awful tonight and we struggled to create a thing. How can he expect the players to improve he he's saying game after game that their efforts are good enough. Is the man even aware that the point of the game is to score more goals than your opponent!?

Sunday will be my absolute last chance for the man (if he's still in charge). If any of the following happens I will turn my back on him, regardless of the result:

- poulson plays
- carragher at RB
- gerrard not in CM
- anything other than goin for the kill straight from kick off
- waitin till 80mins before encouraging the team to attack
- we do not attack, attack, attack, attack, attack!
- torres left on his own all game and expected to create all his own chances
- poulsen plays
- poulsen plays!

I am tired of certains fans on here say Roy needs more time. When a person is good you see it from day one. The problem here is Roy hasn't had to manage a team where they are expected to win. So therefore he can never set up Liverpool to be that way. Team won't help as the few talented players he has will feel surpressed and frustrated and therefore their form will be affected. Rafa did need to go as he lost the team in the end, however as defensive as he was Liverpool remain dangerous on the counter therefore there was a plan. Poor Roy has no plan isn't aggressive and his style is coming out in the performances. The financial cloud of blame has been lifted there was no reason for the Everton's performance or tonight's. We should just accept this for what it is, a unique case where the task at hand is just too big for lovely "Old" Roy

What happened Too the Liverpool that would go out and attack Real Madrid from the off and Score 4 goals. Now We can't get 1 against Napoli. Everton + Utrecht! Roy is not a Bad man, He's Just the wrong man! . We need too sack him before its too late "/ . And i would Prefer Kenny too Rjikard. What do u think ed? {ed's note - I think I would prefer Rijkaard to Kenny, I am afraid of him not being able to succeed. I don't want him to ruin the legend with a poor run of results.}

21 Oct 2010 21:53:16

Does any one agree with me that it is going to take a few years now to get back to the champions league and to be challenging for the league and i mean a few years with the cash of man city and the current state of our squad i feel the the next manager should not be rushed because it could be our down fall it is going to be a hard long period were we will have to get behind the team and manager and i don`t mean roy i mean the next manager who ever is selected. they is to many headless chickens in the side to many talented kids not geting a fair crack of the whip, and if they are players who don't want to be there sell them we are still the biggest club in the uk and should not be geting the press we are geting so many negative people hounding our great club makes me so sad how far we have fallen but it is not how you fall it is how you pick your self up and dust your self of and we will pick up our beloved club and carry it to were it belongs on the top of the footballing world.
hurt red wat u think ed {ed's note - I think the present squad is not far off a top 4 place in terms of ability, they just need width and confidence.}

It was like watching grass grow tonight, come on roy at least try to save ya job

21 Oct 2010 21:51:06

After watching tonights game it jus re-enforces the fact we badly need sum flair an creativity

what do you reckon ed ? {ed's note - we desperately need width, they were open down the flanks but we had nothing there.}

21 Oct 2010 21:33:55

After that game tonight my team for the weekend would be. .
Reina
Kelly Carragher Skirtel Koncheski
Spearing
Mereles Gerrard
Shelvey Cole
Torres

Kelly is solid at the back and also got forward a bit, Spearing done well in midfield and even though he has a lack of pace would be protected by Gerrard and Mereles, remember Xabi wasn't the fastest. Shelvey I feel is ready for a go in the first team, although i've got Cole on the left he would play more central and have Koncheski coming forward, being covered by Skirtel, Carragher and Kelly moving over to make a three. My subs would be. .

Jones, Aurellio, Pacheco, Johnson, Agger(if fit), Ngog, Jovanovic. .

loads won't agree, but I think this team will cause problems to Blackburn.

Ed this site is addictive, would just like to say i was all for hodgson at the beginning but i am so bored of watching this liverpool side at the moment no matter who is in the team they play the same way its not the players in the wrong its 100% the manager fault. He has to go soon as.
I would like to see Rijkaard as next manager or let kenny and the boys take over we need to stop passing along the back line and do away with the defensive midfielders and attack.

21 Oct 2010 21:18:08

Sick and tired of people coming on here talking about jay spearing being a good player. He is not near good enough for liverpool, too slow, can only pass five yards, no vision to pick a pass, giving ball away. Not good enough.Shelvey looks good but still plenty of room for improvement. PS. SACK ROY

To the post at 20:47 slating LFC TV. Totally agree with you mate.

I live overseas, so certain TV channels arent that reliable (SSN for example). When the most momentous week in our recent history was taking place last week in court, LFC TV had zero coverage at all to keep fans up to date. They just had repeats. Even their LFC Now news show was cancelled.

I know as the official club channel they can't be too speculative on their coverage, but its pretty week. Hell, they still have Michael Owen as the main man on the intro credits to their Kop 10 show! !

Cheap, gutless TV channel if you ask me. Frustrating.

How do you get to be an editor? (no i am not applying. lol)

chris 1 {ed's note - there are 5 or 6, I forget which. It just seems to make sense to stick with a version of editor, as that is what we are. Maybe we should make them a little more identifiable though? Oh and I chose the editors, they all showed good knowledge of the game and an ability to not get abusive when replying to people, despite provocation.}

Just watch the game another load of s* t , but commentors thought it was a good point .well here is a good point if Roy is still gaffer at Xmas we will go down, 86mins in game throw in level with napoli 18 yard box Kelly to spearing then90yard back pass to pepe never score goals like that total tit Roy.then just lace it up the park . rant over psvelnino p.s thoughts go out to the three fans who have been injured just remember they come to us in two weeks.

21 Oct 2010 20:44:54

Well. .it was better than i thought it was going to be. and there were some positives. Namely. really liked shelvey and spearing. they need more time on the pitch.
What was babel doing. his first touch was just awful, he had no awareness of who or what was around him. how much longer do we give this bloke?!

Maybe its me. but why on earth do you plan on taking off your CB at half time. i mean plan to do that. why??

At least its a step in the right direction. i think

21 Oct 2010 20:38:46

Its all about opinions ED.For me Spearing is no better than Osman of Everton not good enough for Liverpool.And as for comparing his pace to Alonzo I would bet my mortgage on xabi winning a race over whatever distance.We will just have to disagee ed.If you think Spearing as the same qualities as Alonzo.I am gobsmacked. {ed's note - you are obviously struggling to understand what I am saying. I am saying that a lack of pace isn't everything and that players can still make it without pace. And you obviously missed where I said I think it is too late for Spearing to make it at Liverpool now. The only thing we have actually disagreed on is who was at fault when Skrtel made a ridiculous challenge on a player going nowhere and got himself booked, I mean got booked.}

21 Oct 2010 20:27:32

Im struggling to see what the difference is since WOY took control from RAFA. First two subs tonight where defenders, which is just the way Rafa would have done it.
And can some please tel me what that useless Sh*t Babel is doing still wearing a red shirt?? Does anyone see anything that I am obviously missing, if so please tell me.
But on a positive note, Kelly looked good tonight, so did Spearing and Shelvey and we looked so much better when Joe C came on. . . .
The only way is up guys, keep the faith

No ed, I disagree spearing was left for dead so skyrtle had to come across. yes he is an idiot . My point was Jay was left for dead.Its not another carra thing is it how dare i say anything a bout a local lad .He was not superb Ed an he hasnt enough pace to be a central midfielder in a top 4 side. {ed's note - he does lack pace, I agree, but that does not make it his fault when Skrtel goes tanking into a player going nowhere. Spearing had a good game, pace isn't everything, after all Xabi has none but I don't seem to remember him being too bad a player, perhaps you disagree? I do think Spearing has been held back too long by the previous regime and it is too late for him to make it at Liverpool though, he should have played regularly at least a year, or even two, ago.}

21 Oct 2010 20:21:34

WARNING this is abit of a rant lol.

some of the negatives from tonight.
liverpool under roy play like they are protecting a 3-0 lead, very uncreative. very odd to sub carra to protect him for sunday? kelly faded towards the end, but he is young and finally babel was nowhere near up4 tonight, that was his last chance.

now for the positives.
after a slow 20 mins shelvey played very well (he even stands for a fk like stevie lol). for me all ngog has to do to improve is hit the gym and work with cole on how to protect the ball. good to see aurelio fit. cole played well i like to see him in the middle. spearing looked composed and comfortable.

on the funny side did you see reina after that lob atemt, he is definitely the monk lol.
ed i know its a long post but any thoughts, and how long before a carra bust up rumour starts lol.

always a red {ed's note - I loved the look on Reina's face after that, he was not happy with the cheek of a player thinking he could score from so far out against him. I thought we were extremely disappointing tonight, I said on the main site it was like watching defence against defence at times. There was no ambition whatsoever, even when we dominated possession we never did anything with it, our chances came from defensive mistakes rather than good play.}

I have to admit that I was surprised how well Shelvey played. He looked very assured & on his performance tonight should be given a more regular opportunity around the first team. It was also good to see us more direct tonight without this knocking the ball around the back for a year & a day.

A very average performance but then again it was a very under strength team. I feel sorry for Pacheco & at this rate will be very surprised if he's here at the start of next season.

TO the guy who said speaing was superb you can get 2 for 1 offer at specsavers.SKYRTLE GOT BOOKED BECAUSE OF JAYS LACK OF PACE! He played ok but not superb. {ed's note - Skrtel got booked because he is an idiot, he should have just jockeyed the player not made a challenge. It was no one's fault but his own.}

21 Oct 2010 20:15:16
A decent point away to Napoli tonight, but still not playing with any confidence at all. Ryan Babel gives the impression he'd rather be playing somewhere else. Jovanovic runs around like a chicken with no head, Poulsen can't pass the ball forward and Ngog is just not good or strong enough. The manager if it's Roy or whoever, has a long rebuilding process ahead. Hang on for a long season or two folks.

21 Oct 2010 20:14:01

Shevley, spearing, jovanovic really impressed me and shud play more often. poulsen played well aswell for once. ngog had a few gud touches but still nothing special, and kelly didn't hav one of his better performances. babel was poor and has had his last chance in my opinion. and aurelio shud defonatley start over that joke, konchesky.

team to play blackburn.
reina
kelly carragher skrtel aurelio
johnson gerrard meireles jovanovic
cole

subs: krygiakos, konchesky, spearing, poulsen, ngog, shelvley, pacheco

I think we would all get off roys back if from game to game there was a glimmer of hope that the guy knows what he is doing , drab drab drab, playing not to lose not playing to win! we play so deep he may as well field 10 defenders. could go on all night but it won't change anything, i just can't back you roy you are not the liverpool way, don't try to turn us into a championship side, go and find a side that's already there.

21 Oct 2010 20:11:56

IT REALLY FUSTRATES ME TO SEE HOW LIVERPOOL FANS REACT, SACK THE MANAGER THE SHOUTS ARE. BACK THE MANAGER BACK THE TEAM, WHAT HAPPENED TO GIVING PEOPLE TIME ITS A JOKE SOME OF THE COMMENTS ON HERE ARE STUPID LIKE BRING RAFFA BACK COME ON PEOPLE CHATTING ROONEY FOR LIVERPOOL ha HA HE IS HATED AT THIS CLUB AND HE HATES US JUST AS MUCH.

How long do you wait? There has been no improvement over the last 8 games. This keeps on and there will be very little left of the season to salvage. Everyone says Liverpool aren't the kind of team to dispose of a manager so quickly - that's because we haven't been this bad before. We need a far more attack minded manger.

21 Oct 2010 20:11:35

People who are quick to jump in and support Roy, Just remember one thing, Roy took a title-winning club to relegation, got sacked late on that the damage had been done already, just remind yourself that when if roy stays and in two months we are fighting for our spot in the prem. That WAS blackburn, but it could be done to Liverpool.

Ed although we never played to bad 2nite we wasnt exactly exciting in fact i think we were void of ideas, i no we have been linked with hamsik, lavezzi, cavani well i think you can keep them all they were shocking, i also thought shelvey and kelly did ok but thought spearing was head and shoulders above poulson who i neverthought offered anything in the game, so we were carrying him yet again, i think babel was woefull and hould never don the red shirt again even for the reserves

We keep being told Ngog is young and that he will come good. But Ngog is 23. I would expect if he was to become a premier league star he would be doing it by now. If we bring some new players into the club in January, Ngog must be loaned out to see whether he really is upto it. I don't really think he is.

((. Actually ngog is 21 and captain of the france u21 team, hes a very good young player i feel. His controll and turn on that chance which he had emphasised his potencial abillty. And hes only 21.

Harry:) {ed's note - so one good touch is enough to make up for 89 minutes of constantly giving away possession with poor control?}

21 Oct 2010 20:04:28

Napoli vs liverpool 21 october 2010 player ratings

roy: something was wrong with him. He used all his subs before the 80th minute

reina: 5/ 10 didn't have much to do at all

Konchesky: -10/ 10 worst player ambiguous passes, poor clearences. At least he made that goal line clearance which was also poor

Skrtel 8/ 10 Really solid at the back but poor yellow card conceded

Carra: 2/ 10 did he play?

Greek 0/ 10 poooor Wilson should have replaced carra

Kelly 7/ 10 a lot of improvement in terms of going forward. Solid defending although some clearances were a bit ambiguous

Poulsen 1/ 10 did he play?

spearing 6/ 10 average and got kicked in the face. Linked the defence and attacked well enough with Shelvey

Shelvey 8/ 10 Best player. Should start in every Europa game now

jovanovic 5/ 10 well. . Average. Created a chance for babel who didn't convert it

Babel 3/ 10 Should have converted that sole chance by adding height to the shot

ngog 1/ 10 Good close control but hardly did anything

ed what do you think

singapore red {ed's note - I think you were a bit harsh on Spearing, he played well. Bit harsh on Kyrgiakos as well, he wasn't good, he was in danger of giving away a penalty every single time the ball was out wide because he was too busy tugging the shirt of the nearest forward rather than getting into a decent defensive position, oh and he was constantly looking to back up out wide when he is too slow to do so and should just stay central no matter what. But he didn't have a 0/10 game by any means. I didn't think Konch was too bad, maybe a 3 or 4 but certainly not a minus! Kelly gave the ball away a bit too much, Babel was abysmal, Ngog was terrible except for one flash of quality, Jovanovic was awful apart from the ball through for Babel and Shelvey had a decent game. Cole looked better when he came on too.}

21 Oct 2010 20:03:23

Well Judging by tonight, I'd say Shelvey and Spearing should be further up the pecking order. Poulson, does not offer anything, couple of tackles, couple of passes, the other 88 minutes just passed him by. Babel's had enough chances now, Jovonavic started the season okay but has rapidly gone down hill.
Honestly think N'Gog's getting better, every now and then he does something brilliant he was unlucky not to score tonight. In a better team, he'd be doing much more.
What was the point of planning a substitution at half time, (Just start with Soto). what if things go wrong, what if someone gets injured, what if you need to change tactic. (what was the point of swapping Konch for Aurelio (Like for like not something to try and change the way the game was playing out)

Take out Babel and Poulson, Jovanovic, and put back in Gerrard Miereles and Cole, and that would be the line up I'd start the next game with!

21 Oct 2010 20:02:25

Latest news!

poulsen uses herbal essence shampoo, and cannot move too well on the pitch because of his hairbrush and spray tucked in his shorts, and also has short term memory loss!(forgets which end we are playing)

21 Oct 2010 20:01:56

Based on tonight, why not make our starting 11:
Reina
Kelly-Carra-Skrtl-Konk
Johnson-Shelvey-Gerrard-Merieles-Jova
Torres

I think Torres, if he would have gotten the kind of service Ngog had tonight, would have had a brace at least. He needs service, I think Shelvey can give him that.

What do you reckon?

21 Oct 2010 19:54:41

Tonight was better, Not great by any reach of the imagination, but better non the less, Skrtle was better, Shelvey Impressed! He is ready! Cole added quality towards the end, Babel and Jova Usless. The pair made Poulson look half decent!

Should have won tonight. Hopefully this will be the team at the weekend.

ha '

" So Rafa didn't sign Torres, alonso and mascherano.? So Rafa didn't win the best champions league final of all time, and an FA cup"

A blind man with no football know how could have signed them 3 without a worry - and as far as the 2 games you mention - NO Benitez didn't win them - he almost lost the first one starting with Harry Kewell.

The players won them - and one in particular Steven Gerrard - he played a true captains role in them both.

Benitez has left us with a much inferior squad than the day he arrived.

If the team that Roy puts out tonight at well and get a good result should the same team not play on Sunday or at least most of them. Why should gerrard and Torres get straight back in. Personally I think Napoli are better than blackburn. Gazza

. . . . .If roy hogson is in charge after blackburn im going to sell my season ticket on Ebay. . .

GOOD. I know loads of people who'd take it off your hands. Maybe then we'll have fans there who sing instead of cry and boo and shout insults at our own players.

. . . . Liverpool fans are the most loyal the world over and we will always stuck with our team and stick together. . .

Sorry mate you appear to be thinking of our OLD fans. Our NEW fans are never happy unless we have a football manager team and we're winning EVERYTHING, and would happily sack a manager every time we lose a game. Also our world class striker - sacked, not good enough. Our world class midfielder - sacked, doesn't want to be here. Our awesome english right back - sacked, hes in poor form. Our entire squad? SACKED. Because basically instead of growing some testicles and supporting the team that they're supposed to love, theyd rather carve it apart and slag everyone off and throw their toys out of the pram. To be honest it's embarrassing. I stupidly have often felt proud to consider myself part of shanks' family of fans and believed the press about us being the best fans in the world. But listen to yourselves! WE DO NOT HAVE A DIVINE RIGHT TO SUCCESS. The mark of a good fan is how they act when the goings tough. MAN UP. I refuse to be made to look like a whining tart through association with u, bunch of girls. FLAME ON. Duckula

Come on Mr.Henry please show Roy the door! !
especially for not playing Pacheco!
WASTED TALENT or what

I think we have actualy got a really good squad to be honest but don't seem to be playing well together at the moment.on paper our squad is pritty good just need to b more attacking .i think our starting line up without buying any players should look something like this.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .reina. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

johnson . . . . . . . . . . skrtel. . . . . . . . . . . . .agger

. . . . . . . . lucas. . . . . . . . . . . .gerrard. . . . . . . .

jovanovic. . . . . . . . meireles. . . . . . . . . . . . . cole

. . . . . . . . . .torres. . . . . . . . .pacheco. . . . . . . .

subs. .jones, konchesky, maxi, kuyt, ngog, babel, poulsen.

people tell me what you think i think its a strong line up to be honest with what players weve got atm .

Mate, we will get ripped apart with three at the back. Specially with Johnson there!

Although I do agree we have good squad and I still believe in Babel. Just look at Nani, started of badly but is now starting to grow into a good attacking player. Babel like anyone needs a manager who will give him a chance so that he can gain confidence.

My team

- - - - - Torres- - - Babel

- - Cole- - - -Gerrard- - - Johnson

- - - - - - - -Meirless

-Konchesky- Agger- Carra- Kelly

Liverpool Rumours
Liverpool Rumours
Everyone's going on about Rijikaard as possible manager. Do you really want a person like him in charge of our wonderful club? Anybody else remember what he did to Rudi Voller in the World Cup? I'll remind you. He spat on him. Is he to be forgiven, just because he's linked to us? Some things that happen on the pitch are forgivable, spitting on a player, I'm afraid isn't.
Guus Hiddink is THE only man for the job. He doesn't do celebrity footballers. He commands respect, discipline, honesty, hard work and above all, loyalty. Remember that? Some of our players couldn't even spell it, nevermind understand what it meansreply
even voler didn't want to reveal what he said to him on the field to invoke him that way. Rijakard was always known to be a good leader on the field with decent character. if zidan was was a good manager and was to be linked to us , would you say no coz of what he did to materazzi?

[[ id thank him personally. like someone said yesterday, "His grandad bombed our chippies." Lol. Although German friends of mine are actually extremely nice people. Their culture is so alike to ours its insane!

on another note to most people this is how you spell
"Frank Rijkaard".

Having just seen the team for tonight, i have trully given up. The man is a waste of space. Negative negative negative. BYE ROy. You will never turn this around. You have a fantasytic talent in young Pacheo, and yet nowhere to be seen. Your time is up.

21 Oct 2010 17:10:43

In my option Frank Rijkaard would make an excellent manager for Liverpool. Attacking football is just what we need. We need to start making teams fear us again because with the likes of Blackpool beating us and Northampton knocking us out of the cup, teams will come and attack knowing that we are weak at the moment. Something has to change! !

And with regards to egos, why do we want to to sign these type of players anyway?

As I mentioned in an earlier post, we have to start building a young and passionate team!

Players such as Turan, Honda, Defour, Bangea, Afellay, Dann, Shawcross etc

All under 23/ 24 years old and hungary to play football! !

21 Oct 2010 17:09:35

People stop saying we shud get bale, ok hes good but after what he said about liverpool i wish the wind would pick him up by them stupid ears an lift him into a pylon an electrocute the little fukin monkey

how bout you ed?
{Editor's note - He is a very good player}

21 Oct 2010 16:57:01

To be honest i really feel sorry for lucas the was everyone slags him off he is still young and everyone just see's the worst of him. i believe he will be a good player once he gets that just bit older and that just bit tougher

21 Oct 2010 16:55:53
Can anyone shed some light on why teams such as Napoli are not thrown out of the competition by UEFA.

The organised violence by Napoli Ultra fans is awful.

If it happened in Liverpool there would be massive repercussions.

21 Oct 2010 16:55:51

Whichever team he puts out tonight is ultimately negative. That is Roy i'm afraid. Its painful to watch such negative tactics. For a man to put lucas and poulsen (or either at anytime for that matter) is the root of all our problems. I feel for Merieles; clearly played out of position, i believe he is talented. Roy has fallen in the cowardly trap of not playing people in their rightful posistion. I site cole as an example (Babel even). My biggest bug bear of them all. . the right side! Glen CANNOT TACKLE

Why are liverpool fans all saying that they are on the up and all?
yes you have new owners, but correct me if im wrong but you have the same team and the same manager. so how is the team on the up and moving forward exactly?

21 Oct 2010 16:16:40

Joe Januszewski if you read up about him is a committed red quote " baseball is buisiness LFC is my passion" also was in Istanbul and has been an LFC fan for 20 years sounds like the right man to steer this ship to me a commited red who even recommended buying this club to his boss.

Roy has to go something is not right with this team and it needs a man of steel to come in and get the right players on the pitch in the right frame of mind AND IF THEY AINT THEN GET SHUT it is better to have a 50m player on the pitch who wants to play for you otherwise trouser the money asap

Right then lads, are we gonna get behind the team tonite or just slag em off now, during and after the game? ?? come on boys lets give it a break now and get behind whoever is in charge (Roy) all the players who will be lucky enough to pull the red jersey on! ! i think this fan thing is easy, i know its diffucult for some but lets support the team (think & thin) and give the man in the hot seat and ALL the players all the faith we can muster. A few good performances and the results will start to come. I think at some point something will click and it will come good. fingers crossed! !

It makes me laugh to see how negative and pesimistic some red fans are! please please i'm begging each and every 1 of you to channel your anger into passion at matches and start making anfield a couldron of noise cause every single match this year has been like a library. Stop worrying about the manager and show the team we are all behind them, if they don't react to the manager we should make them react to us! i for 1 will be singing at the top of my voice on sunday in the kop who ever is in charge and whoever is on the pitch. please start to believe again

Ed, y is there so many rafa lovers on the forum 2day? how can so many people have such short memories? this is the guy who spent over 170m on players in his time at liverpool, yes alot of the money was recouped, but almost every one of his buys were sold at a loss. he cudnt identify quaility players, and that is y money was recouped, he wud buy someone 4 10m and then sell them 4 5m. he blamed rick parry, now hes blaming purslow? the man is bitter if you ask me. he took us as far as he could, yes he gave us some great nights in europe and some good saturday after noons, but to talk of bringing him back is ridiculous. he lost us the league 2 years ago, playing to cautious when we were top, only wen we needed to win every game to have any chance did he take the shackles off the players. they talk of players thinking they are bigger than the club, think benitez thought he was bigger than the club. what do you think ed?

{Editor's Note: Rafa is in vogue because the hate figures of two weeks ago (H&G) have gone and the new hate figure is Roy Hodgson - erg Rafa comparisons. But don't worry, once RH goes there will be a new figure of hate for the fans. What I fail to understand is why they can't get behind the manager and the team to encourage better performances and therefore some better results.}

Sorry ed but this is totally wrong! !

I have no idea why calls are there for rafa to come back but to suggest that's its because h+G have gone is spurious to say the least. And as for roy being "the latest hate figure" i find unacceptable. i have always seen roy as a thoroughly decent man. however one that is out of his depth in his present role. You are surely not suggesting that we should not be able to voice our displeasure at what is perceived to be mismanagement of the team.
Incidently. i do. and shall continue to support the team and the manager. however if i think he the wrong manager i shall certainly voice concerns as well

Why are people raving about frank rijkard someone
posted

well. rijkaard knows full well how to utilise total football, he learned from cryuff and michels, you say barcelona were a shambles after he left. maybe.

Before he arrived at barcelona they certainly were, they were in a situation not unlike ours. What happened was that after henk ten cate left his post at barcelona rijkaard's success rate fell. However a win record of about 59% in 270 odd matches is not to be laughed at. Remember barcelona were not a world force when he arrived, but they were certainly regarded as such when he left.

I don't know about you. but that would do for me at the present time

What I don't understand is leaving players for rest. Torres needs to be playin for fitness and just try and get himself a goal, he might then get some confidence back and start bangin them in. Gerrard he's the captain of the team and he's meant to keep the morale goin from start to finish. Raul meireles Is new and it another game for him to find his feet an gain some confidence. An what's the deal with resting lucas? He's an absolute clamity, I don't ever want him to play but please don't be sayin were restin him cos he does nothin. He makes momo sissoko and igor biscan look good. Don't no what woy is thinkin but taken out of the squad 3 of our better players! No wonder he's lookin on gettin sacked.

This obsession with arda turan is becoming very tiresome now, how many people watch turkish football week in week out?my guess is not many, I recently returned from a holiday in turkey and got talking to a gala fan who said turan was an average player in an average league an wouldn't be able to cope physically in england, football.

21 Oct 2010 14:16:28

To fellow Liverpool supporters if the rumours are true that are circulating around the city of Liverpool , just remember that this is not all Roy Hodgson's fault. Our great club is in a terrible state at the moment on and off the pitch. I think he was brave to take the job , the job is massive, and is proving at the moment to big, I personally cannot remember things being so bad. any manager that comes in will need more time & money than Roy Hodgson been given that's for sure.
You'll never walk alone? ?

"21 Oct 2010 13:19:04
Show roy a little respect? What has he done to deserve it? Roy is a clown. And im pretty sure he's a manc fan. Why else would he be playing poulsen who was a reserve player for 7th placed juve in serie a last year? Or why would he be playing one of portugal's best central mids on the right wing? Why would he think that losing to EVERTON, yes EVERTON was our best performance thus far? I seriously think that roy doesn't want us to win a game and i think some people will agree with me. Never thought id say it but i wish rafa was back. At least he had some balls unlike that clown who is completely sackless and scared s* tless by fergie.
Red bl00ded!"

The reason why you show him some respect is because he is OUR manager. I think the time is right for him to be replaced, but to call him a clown who's intentionally sabotaging our chances is the kind of knee-jerk hyperbole that this club has usually managed to stay clear from. He has made mistakes, but personal insults as well as others ridiculing a minor speech impediment are the sort of pointless attacks that help no one. The club may be falling, but from some comments i've seen so is the quality of the fanbase. We've always disagreed with managers, but we've never sunk so low as to bombard them with ridicule. Treat a couple more mangers like this and we'll be lucky to attract someone of Hodgson's stature.

21 Oct 2010 13:41:58

How can any one want Rafa back, he took a good squad and tore it to pieces in 5 years, how many bad signings can a manager make. He will do the same at Inter, just give him 2 years.

21 Oct 2010 13:39:03

Rafa outsmarted rijkaard when we beat barca in the champions league (bellamy's golf swing)

21 Oct 2010 13:37:50

With the current crop of players at Roys disposal there is only one way we can play 3 - 5 -2

Reina - Carragher Kyriakos Agger - Johnson Mierales Gerrard Cole Konchesky - Torres Jovanavic

Gerrard has to play in the middle as Lucas looks like a schoolboy getting brushed off the ball.
When we get 2 quality centre halves then we can play 4 - 4-2 until then here it is.

21 Oct 2010 13:35:54

Ed your comments please on this one:

Right there's no hiding the fact that we have a long season ahead with our current situation lying in the bottom 3. I for one would rather go out of the EL and then we can concentrate on claiming at least 4Th place and get back into CL.
Also we can put on a really good FA cup run and hopefully clinch that.

I know most would say "but it the European cup" etc etc but lets be fair it's a poor mans trophy now days not even worthy of BBC or ITV schedule's unless it's the semi's! (advise me if i am wrong on that).

With a new manager or RH we can get a good run of games without the euro games getting in the way.
Incidentally how much revenue doe's the EL bring in compared to CL?

I await your abuse. or not has the case may be?

Lee

{Editor's Note: The team should be up to performing well in all games - it is a pitiful excuse to suggest that they can't perform as they have too many games to play. Fulham made it to the Europa Cup final last year remember. As for prize money it is a lot less than the Champions League - but I don't see that as relevant. If you walk on the field of play you should want to win the game - regardless of who you are playing.}

21 Oct 2010 13:34:17

These "all is forgiven rafa" comments are comical. it appears some people have short memories indeed as i seem to remember everyone calling for his head because of his lack of vision, his poor man management skills, his inability to develop anyone from the youth team and his poor record in the transfer market. cast your mind back to incidents such as torres being taken off in a game we had to win to get try and get 4th, in fact his total disregard for the league all together. he isolated players like babel etc to the point that the once highly sought after winger was considering a move to birmingham. No my friends rafa lost the dressing room and rightly so.

Even when he signed his contract at Liverpool Hodgson always knew that when the takeover had been completed new owners might want to bring in their own man. that is why he had a clause in the contract stating £3m would be deposited in his bank account within 48 hours if he is removed.
Hodgson had always wanted to manage Liverpool and as he had an indifferent and at times a difficult relationship with Al Fayed, coming Liverpool and leaving a supposedly 'safe' job at Fulham was not a hard decision to make.

21 Oct 2010 13:21:44

Roy can't really have any complaints if he is ousted from the club as he took a chance at what was probably his last big job in football and has failed- oh well that's football. There certainly won't be any tears from me or my brothers in the kop. The big question is who will be his replacement as this will probably be the most important appointment in recent history. nesv HAVE to get this right as the money made available in january will not be available again without being subsidised by player sales. Personally i think we need a young dynamic manager who has a fresh approach from the usual suspects. someone who can look to the long term and stabilise the club making the players realise that they will depart long before the manager. We want players who sign for liverpool for the club and the manager. players who believe this manager will improve them. benitez signed torres, pepe etc because they wanted to work with him so you can maybe forgive them for being a bit dissilusioned at now having a second rate manager who they don't believe in.

21 Oct 2010 13:19:04

Hodgson fears Torres to be ManU target? Some take this as a taunt towards Fergie, I hope it's just that and not Hodgson displaying his insecurity! I'd thought him to be stronger, at least in appearance, while on the touchline. We don't need a nice guy! We need a leader whom the players respect. I still say give Hodgson time but please Roy, don't look so worried and 'stuck', it only relays the wrong message to the fans!
And PLEASE, no Riijkard! When he managed Barca, with the team they had, my grandmother could have won things! Also, he couldn't manage Ronaldinho nor Eto. .
Liverpool will be fine as long as Roy plays to win, two up front and in an attacking mood!
Sorry for ranting, guys and girls,
All the best

Come on everyone torres said he wants to play for this club. you play in our team at the minute and lets see how disjointed you would look. he cannot carry the team, and the current tactics done allow you to attack.

give him the service and he defo would be banging the goals in and this convo wouldn't even be happening.

we need to get behind our big players, torres, pepe, gerrard and support them. they are all obviously not happy with the current manager and our struggling to adapt to his tactics. but torres/ gerrard are attacking players and are not used to defending for 90 mins. so no wonder they look disjointed. pepe likes to come off his line and also likes to mount instant counter attacks, which we have benefited from greatly since he been at this club. if what we hear is true that he been told not to do that, then we are taking away a major aspect of his skills.

if these 3 players where to go. who else would we get in there place. these are the players that attract players to this club and not the lucas/ maxi/ poulsen etc. so the people saying they would bite the hand off for these funds, be careful what you accepting as you are only seriously weakening our side. pepe/ gerrard/ torres are the spaine of our side and we shoudl be building our squad around them not getting shut

we all don't like Roy as our manager and want shut of him. but lets get behind our boys and force this clown out.

I agree we want Roy to go but I don't think he deserves to be called a clown. Have a little respect.

HOGSON NEEDS TO BE SACKED HIS AN UTTER DISGRACE i want to loose tonight so he can get out of my club before he makes more mistakes. He lost to Northampton Town, Blackpool, and the worst Everton, his fueling speculation about Torres he never backed him when Fergie called him a cheat he uses rafa tactics he got poulson (thats a sackable offence) he loaned out Aquallini is he dumb he never even got a striker even though people living on Mars knew we needed a striker he keeps saying we are in a relegation battle how can that help our players his useless pay him 3 million and get hiddink

Next manager has to be either Rijkaard or Pellegrini. Why? Because they have a good reputation of success in La Liga and will keep players like Torres and Reina satisfied. Personally I'd go with Rijkaard. Experience at every level as a player and a manager and the younger of the two. His english is better too. He's a pretty cool character and could handle the mind games and the media pressure. He knows about good players and would have no problems getting rid of Lucas and Poulsen. Babel and Kuyt may thrive under him, especially Babel. We'd also have a good chance of bringing in Turan. He ticks all the boxes and seems able to placate difficult/ powerful players: Eto'o, Ronaldinho.

Just started reading, Kenny Dalglish: My Liverpool Home. He said how players would always feel the electricity when Shanks was arriving. This is what we need now a true legend of the game. Only Kenny would be the right man for now. He would bring all the players down to earth and play the pass and move game that we used to play so well. I'm only 19 and don't have any recelection of Shanks, Sir Bob or King Kenny managing us but i watch LFCTV everyday religously. I see the classic games like Rome in 77 thay paved our european success. Liverpool fans are the most loyal the world over and we will always stuck with our team and stick together. Under Roy I just beleive that he is not embracing the Liverpool way and is setting his teams out with a Fulham philosophy. We have new owners, we have good and great players, but at best, we have a medeocre manager. It's time for Kenny to take over and see how he does. Even if he does bad nothing will ever ruin his legacy at Anfield.

Utter disgrace! Liverpool fans stabbed, having to fight off gangs on mopeds and getting bottled.
I bet if the lads fight back they will get slaughtered by Sly sports and that french idiot in FIFA. But i doubt a word will be said about the Italian hooligans. Nothing was said when we were attacked in Rome (the Houllier years) and there it was the police attacking us as well! Even worse is the Italian newspaper who printed that our fans are the most violent element of the U.K.s football hooligans JOKE have they never seen West Ham or Chelsea or Arsenal!
I hope the club sue the newspaper

Hodgson is taunting Fergie, he knows manure can't afford Torres, the monet they get for Screwme will go to servicing there debt, just like Ronaldos £80 mill, sound familiar, Roy knows as we all know Torres will leave, he needs to get away for the sake of his national team place, he wants gauranteed CL football, this Liverpool can not give him, it will not matter who the manager is hes off end of story.

Liverpool have turned into Fulham - only worse.

Is anyone else sick of Hodgson making stupid negative comments, almost as if we are only an average club. The takeover has happend. Lets have some positivity for Gods sake! We were the top seeded team in Europe only two years ago. Or are you a small club manager Mr Hodgson?

21 Oct 2010 10:45:01

For the first time in my life, I actually hope LFC to lose a match - that should put even more pressure on Roy, it's more important to get rid of him than getting the 3 points from Napoli tonight. .

Sadly, a foolish man has tried to build is house upon the sand and its come tumbling down. Is there a wise man to build a house upon the rocks? Does my club have that rock to build upon? The foundations of our great club have been torn apart, this is our "ground zero" rebuilding from the bottom up must be the answer. All I hear is adding players to a top heavy house, is our house going forward on sand or rocks? that will tell us how well we will finish this season.

ARE YOU CRAZY WHAT IS POULSEN AND MAXI DOING IN YOUR TEAM

Look at who is in the squad, Roys tactics and tell me who you would play then? He isn't going to give youth a chance is he? We all know Poulsens carp but with no Meireles, Gerrard or Lucas who else is there? He won't put 2 inexperienced midfielders like Shelvey and Spearing together

* 3. Konchesky - he is ok, but nothing special. he doesn't stop crosses coming in. Average prem player

* 4. Meireles - He is too weak to play in the centre, falls over alot and runs around like a headless chicken. we need to start him on course of steriods, He isn't ready for the premiership

* 5. Agger - can't understand why Agger doesn't play in first team, but a tank like Kyrgiakos does play?, Kyrgiakos is soo slow in moving.

* 8. Gerrard - Gerrard is useless playing behind torres upfront. He is needed to be in centre of midfield battling for the ball. Cant understand why he is standing around upfront in everton game.

* 9. Torres - If torres is supplied the ball, it will end up in the back of the net sooner or later

* 10. J Cole - Joe cole played better out on the left. For the first time in liverpools history, i saw a cross come in from the left.

* 14. Jovanovic - Ok this guy has shown that he knows where the goal is and is able to score goals. Play him as a striker. He need him putting goals in the net. Looked good when he ran at everton. Just play him upfront with Torres

* 16. Kyrgiakos - Shouldnt be allowd near the first team. He is bench warmer at best.

* 21. Lucas - at the moment lucas should be playing in the centre with gerrard because he is prob our second best midfield centre.

* 17. Maxi - Let maxi play seems to have nice touch, but he too could use a rocket stuck up his ass. No work rate. hope dirk kuyt come back soon

* 19. Babel - Bench warner or second striker. No midfield.

* 23. Carragher - Slowing down, but a great player. its sad that he can't pass, tackle or has any pace, but he is strong and slow.

* 28. Poulsen - Keep him a million miles away from the first team. useless buy

* 34. Kelly - let him play, see him at the same level as Konchesky so why not give him game experience because where already losing matches. Cant get any worst

* 37. Skrtel - Skrtel is skrtel, a battler, but also slow cbk. Him or carra should partner Agger at the back

* 40. Ayala - We need him back and in the first team come jan. bit of speed in the back line

* - Aquilani - like to see aquilani back at the club and in the first team, its a joke we have him loaned out. Great player, well he is better than what we have at the moment.

* - Insua - I would like to see him back too in jan with Rikjard, At least he would give us a attacking option

WHAT IS THIS GUY ON? MEIRELES IS QUALITY, JOVANOVIC, LUCAS(2ND BEST CENTRE MID? SHELVEY IS BETTER THAN LUCAS) AND MAXI ALL GARBAGE PLAYERS AND SHOULD NEVER EVER BE IN THE 1ST TEAM! AND AS FOR INSUA AS AN ATTACKING OPTION? WOW SOME OF OUR FELLOW RED FANS HAVE NO CLUE ABOUT FOOTBAL. ANY1 THINKS THAT ANY OF OUR PLAYERS APART FROM THE KEEPER THE CENTRE BACKS GERRARD, COLE AND TORRES ARE ANY GOOD YOUR DILLUSIONAL. NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR TRANMERE ROVERS

Maybe people should wake up to the fact that things may have been different under Rafa, if he was given enough money.

Yes he made some duff signings but so does every manager - look at Fergie. . (Veron, Anderson, Kleberson, Bebe, Hargreaves, Carrick, Berbatov - until this season. the list goes on. . almost £150m worth of crap in this list. ).

He made some bloody good ones too (Agger, Torres, Masch, Alonso, Garcia - etc. etc. )
The difference is that Rafa had to sell to buy as opposed to buy to sell
- the difference?! - look at Mourhino at Chelsea in his first season - spent almost £100m on 5 world clas players AND THEN sold 7 or 8 fringe players for about £30-40m. .
-Rafa had to sell first and then try to negotiate and if things went wrong (i.e. Barry) then his plan changes. .

All I'm saying is I would actually trust Rafa to spend £100m on players, AND THEN get a return on the carp AFTER we bought them. .(most likely net spend of £60m)

I wouldn't trust Roy with my weekly shopping money - his mindset seems to be that Liverpool are a midtable team and as such it has rubbed off throughout the team - a self fulfilling prophecy if you like. . . . .

By the way did anyone see how amazing King Louis Garcia was at Carra's testimonial - I'd have him back tomorrow!

Hi

As Loverpool fan since the 80's i have seen my team grow, fall apart & rebuild itself as much as any fan.We are eternal REDS & we know where we are headed. The problem is any of us want quick success & that rarely if ever happenes.you mention city. I ask "what have they won'. Chelsy. build on an impressive sqaud put together by Rianeri(spelling).

We shall rise again, this we know, we don't need to overhaul our team, but invest wisely.

My wish would be for us to approach Roam for De Rossi with either Poulson/ Aqua as part bargain. May take alott, he is a loyal, tough & complete midfielder with a mean streak if you remember the world cup 08. Another underrated & decent premier league player is Joey Barton.A Pool fan, changed since his last problems & a new lease on life, what a player like that could do for our mid?Laught if you want but I can see him doing the "Roy Keane" driving energiser bunny midfielder for us.I would bet on Turan coming good if given time to settle, neither Pirez/ Nasri were too flash in theirs. Defence I don't think is a prob, just the back four hasn't settled yet due to injuries, but I wouldn't be against getting either Cahill/ Showcross. But would love to see us look at Barazagli from Bremen, class & underrated as well as the defender barca let go last year, the one that looks like an old Jesus portred.

Strikers, yeah dream of Gomez/ Suarez/ Dzeko. .but theres quality out there we need to invest in like Quigiarella from Italy, Llorente, Hulk, Adraino, My personal wish Podolski as he can also cover wing.

Thanks for reading & I doubt my words will reach the powers that be but one can only dream

Time for Hodgson to go, he's not for us.his tactics(or lack of them) don't suit us, Torres is having to play off scraps.we may not have played well last season but it was whey better than this.even hodgson's interviews are boring does not defend the players when other managers have ago, the man has no fight in him.time for someone younger?

What that crackhead woy should've said was that united can offer £150m and then we will think about giving them one of nando's old studs. I was never a fan of rafa but he would have shown where fergie and utd stand if these things had happened during his tenure. No wonder nando is not happy to play under woy.

The way liverpool are playing in the league i can't see us even beating blackburn this weekend.

I think we'll get thrashed by at least 6 especially if the greek, carra and roy's favourite dane plays(poulsen)

Our favourite dane is AGGER!

All Roy had to do to win back some of the fans was say, "We will never sell Torres to our biggest rivals". He couldn't even do that.
I can only assume he doesn't care anymore now he knows he's going.

Spurs fans have a short memory, don't they!

it was only 2 years ago they were in the exact same situation as we are at the moment. harry comes in, pulls them from the brink, and 1 season later they are in the champs league.
how do you work out it will take us 10 years to get back in the europa league?
enjoy your days out, you won't be goin on them next year! Spaceman JF96

Harry is no better a manager, as Roy H is. The difference between Spurs situation and yours, is that the squad Harry inherited was a better collective, than what Liverpool have at the moment. Harry also had money to spend, once the transfer window opened. Your new owners have publicly stated that they are not going to throw money at it come January. Your better players look like they would rather be some where else and the rest of the squad, don't look up to the challange.

I feel Spurs don't have a devine right every season to play champions league football and it is a learning process for us, but we intend to enjoy it and give it a go while we are in a position to do so. We now have depth to the squad, we play attractive football and we are always looking to better the team and ourselves. There is a lot of competition for the 4 places and Man City could replace us next season, but we will keep trying and keep moving in the right direction. As for Liverpool i wish you well, but you keep living in the past on distant achievements, then the past is were you will always be. Its sad how far you have fallen and you do remind me alot of Newcastle.

I just looked at frank Rijkaard on wikipedia and i learned a hell of a lot of things which i did not know. its a very good read for anyone.

the 'Barcelona (2003–2008)' i would recommend. it sounds like the state in what we are in now guys. barca did not win anything since 1999; also the team had a lot of average players. Quote ["the team he inherited also consisted of many underachieving players from the old guard and the era that failed to meet the club and its fans' demands".]
well i think that says it all really. lol.

also he brought through the youth players and gave them a chance in the first team. Quote, (i.e. Víctor Valdés, Carles Puyol, Xavi and Andrés Iniesta). all spanish players too. and not all from his own nation.

also read the "Coaching philosophy and style"
This is another quote:
"As a coach, Frank Rijkaard's essential philosophy is to guide his team towards playing attack-minded football as a cohesive unit. In doing this, he believes a team can achieve the dual objectives of winning games and ensuring the audience's enjoyment of the spectacle"

ooh i felt i was in heaven there for a minute!

sounds like a fantastic choice. and one to excite us 'the fans' and ignite anfield once again.

Roy has handled the media terribly in his stint as manager.
He failed to defend Torres when Fergie said he was cheating, he said that a 0-0 against Utrecht was as good a result as we could hope, he constantly says that dire performances are progress, he spoke about a 0-0 with Birmingham as though we'd won, he said that getting outplayed in every department by Everton was the best performance we've given, and now he is telling fans that our most hated rivals have a chance of signing our star player. That's a sackable offence in my opinion.

I was supporting Hodgson until the Sunderland game. After that I realised he's a hopeless, small time manager. The only positive I can see is Raul Meireles who I can see being great in the right role.
