Got plenty of energy in the midfield. Skrtel will give us a greater threat from corners and better football playing flow.

Heavy emphasis on on attack, send out a message to the lower table teams in particular, get the fear back.

Jatt YNWA

Johnson is going to start definately, he's the England right back. Just because he was injured people forget what he brings to the team. Yes his defense is questionable at times but he more than makes up for it with his attacking play. Kenny will start him.

id have any new decent left mid downing not doing enough he only stood out at villa because villa are garbage.

Hi eds any idea how long it will take on the suarez-evra case before they decide what to do?

Surely the longer it carries the less likely luis wont be charged.

Mighty reds. {Ed001's Note - I have no idea, the FA will have to set a date for a hearing, I would expect it to be soon though.}

The Real KB,just noticed your reply to my first post in a while. Very kind of you mate but be careful,you'll be found guilty by association mate ha ha. Jonson6

Why, you never received a red card last time round did you ? Lol.
Take it easy man.

Jonson6

Yer I'm with you on the Kelly v Johnson front. I'm a big fan of Kelly. I would like to see him at center half as well though he may be even better there hopefully he can help organise a back line but I think the only thing stopping the lad maybe a few injuries? Just hope he stays fit.

Not LFC as such, but what do you make of the Mancini thing ed ?
It seems like he's been let down today there.
The manager surely has to be backed in this situation.
I'd be bitterly disappointed if this was Liverpool and it was Kenny that had happened to.
Have Man City bottled it ?
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - It surrounds a degradding issue - the club want to move the focus away from problems to facilitate a January deal that does not have these issues surrounding it. It is nothing really to do with Sir Bobby Mancini.}

You mean selling on Tevez ed ?
The Real KB {Ed002's Note - Right.}

21 Oct 2011 21:24:54
I cant belive the number of supporters teams they'd play tomorrow putting Glenn Johnson in ahead of Martin Kelly. Every post pro Johnson goes on about his attacking prowess,well put him further forward then and not a right back,were as much as the modern day full backs get forward, they are in fact defender's first and foremost. Kelly a very capable at going forward but is ten times the defender Johnson is. Kellys forward play will improve as he learns the position inside out. It was his reading of the game when he read a pass to Young i think it was which eventually set Suarez up for the chance he should of buried on his left peg, had Young in his pocket until he was taken off. I dont think Glenn will be at the club next season due to Kelly and new signing's. Jonson6

Alright J6 ? Been away for a while.
I dunno with this one. I think Johnson is too good to let go. It'd be a cert that he'd end up at one of our rivals (Chelsea or Spurs). Will Kelly not be a centre back longer term ?
I can see why you're saying that, but I just feel he's too good a footballer to lose.
The Real KB

Absolutly positively spot on about Kelly over Johnson, if Kelly is dropped it's a disgrace. But i'm not worried because KK wont drop the kid after the way he played against the mancs

Ed what do you think of sven bender from dortmand as a player because i have heard that he is the main person we are scouting from dortmand? I heard it from a guy on twitter who was right both last jan and the summer with pretty much everything {Ed002's Note -If it is on Twitter it has to be true.}

Musings of an Old Man:

I am a huge fan of all the 5 times v 19 banter etc etc because history matters and ultimately is what underpins your following and pride of your chosen club.

What sets us apart at times is the banter and humour that we show - for the younger amongst us 20 years ago a political prisoner called Terry Waite was released in Lebanon after 5 years chained to a radiator.

Within 3 days of his release from captivity I bought a T shirt at the game with a picture of Terry Waite on it with the slogan "F**K me United still haven't won the league"

Awesome timing and humour.

Now our title drought is ominously close to Uniteds wilderness years yet I see no humour just jealously from the other end of the East Lancs Road.

Lets keep our sense of humour because we have more dignity, pride and humility than others.

Does anyone still have the Terry Waite shirt.

Also lets destroy Norwich - they beat us on the last day of the standing Kop - never forgotten never forgiven.

Ed001 (if possible) if liverpool did go for Luuk de jong do you think he's good enough to take carrol of the 1st team, now i know he's not getting many games but him and suarez are our only real strike force and i really cannot see suarez losing his spot

MJ {Ed001's Note - I feel he is good enough to be first choice, yes.}

Looks like KK and DC's transfer policy has backfired majorly. How could they let one of the best players in the world leave Liverpool? And to think KK didnt even have him on the subs bench!

www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bs-oSNyJ8Ik&feature=share

Nooooooo! Why didn't somebody say before we let him go?!

I was worried for a moment then...Damn iv been had

MJ {Ed009's Note - What do you mean for a moment? I'm still worried that Milos Krasic's career has taken such a nosedive he has resorted to Australian day time TV.}

Ha ha this is gold, Ed009 now you mention it I won't be able to look at him in any other light!

Think I might ring the writers and ask them where the info has come from..

Think the upcoming fixtures will prove to be a real test for us, and we must not under estimate these new comers. We were poor against these kind of teams last couple of seasons. If we can get 9 points from next 3 matches it will be a big boost ahead of Chelsea & Man City clashes. these two will be toughest so far, hope we can at least get 4 points from those two.

Norwich won't be as easy as many of us thinks they are on a good run, scoring goals, creating lots of chances and without Lucas in the middle of the park i fear we are very fragile. but i have a good feeling that a midfield of Hendo, Adam & Gerrard will work.
my starting XI against the canaries will be:

Reina, Kelly, Carra, Skrts, Enrique, Stevie, Hendo, Adam, Downing, Suarez & Carroll (Andy needs these matches & a good run in the 1st team to get his confidence back and get used to the team & playing style so he can start doing what he is supposed to do: scoring goals)

21 Oct 2011 16:42:05

Most likely formation and personnel below. Johnson will get a run out against lesser opposition at Anfield to build his match fitness up especially as Kelly's defensive prowess will not be required as much in this game…

----------Reina-------------

Johno-Carra--Agger-Enrique

------Hendo---Adam------

Kuyt-----Gerrard ---Downing

----------Suarez -----------

I know there was talk last season but i don't understand why KK doesn't give johnson some time on the right wing. For me Kelly should keep his spot in the starting 11 but i really think glen could put in some great performances if he didn't have the defensive duties. Just a thought, what do you guys think?

21 Oct 2011 16:07:03
Ed do you think that is a player like lucas moura, eriksen etc came available in jan and was willing to come to us for a reasonable fee, that we would buy them or would we only wait till the summer? {Ed001's Note - in the remote possibility that happened, yes we would buy them, but it is not going to happen is it?}

Ed i would have thought that if lucas moura moves(reports say around 20m) that we would have a good chance? I know he is good mates with our lucas, they are room mates. What do you think on that ed?

Dear Sir Alex x,

I am writing to you to thank you for all of your endeavors to keep up the spirits of my fellow supporters at Liverpool football club. I acknowledge all you have done in football even if it has taken your club over a quarter of a century to be on almost equal terms with the might of Liverpool football club. However, I do sympathize with your own professional frustrations , like your predecessors before you, such as Matt Busby, your exploits in football have merely been rewarded with knighthood. I can only imagine your own disappointment, when you face the mighty Kop, with all those flags of King Kenny, King Paisely, King Shankley - such titles only bestowed only on true legends of the game that we call football. I can only imagine and sympathize with you, when you face Liverpool, with all those chants of Dalglish, Dalglish, Dalglish (I'm sure you hear them well enough on the television). I do feel for you, that your own blessed Stretford End has never once, chanted your own name. I can only imagine how small you must really feel, when I vainly zip-up my own KD range tracksuit at the football match. I think it is a real scandal in football that there does not exist a similar Manchester United AF range! As a consolation, I suggest Man United commence immediately, with a similar commercial venture entitled the 'FA' range, because you've achieved virtually F**k All in the last 25 years except close the historical gap between our clubs - and we're still ahead! In the days Liverpool conquered England, they conquered Europe and maybe this is why Liverpool fans choose to chant my name and wave flags of me across Anfield. After all these years, I do confess, I truly feel sorry for you and I can only imagine how it is to be second best - once upon a time Shankley told me, first is first, second is nothing and I understand this is not easy for you. But as a token of good faith between our clubs and in recognition of all your achievements in the last quarter of a century, I am going to send to old Trafford a dirty pair of my old football boots (the ones that I myself lifted 3 European cups in, as many as your club has achieved in it's entire history) because - let justice be justice - and after all these years, Six Alex, I do admit you and Man United , are just about fit to clean my boots.

Your Sincerely

King Kenny –V

PS the V does not represent the number of times Liverpool have won the European cup, but f**k-off!

Beautiful post.
A interesting point for Sir Alex to ponder!.
Sir Matt Busby was a liverpool player (thump! The sound of many a Manc jaw hitting the floor),no doubt that is where he learnt his trade, skills etc.
LFC always the leaders, the rest are merely followers.
A King is better than a Sir anyday!.

Just thought I would let folk know that the LiverpoolTV channel is moving to (Virgin Channel 234) or (Sky Channel 529).

The real reason Macca's been so quiet is because I kidnapped him and am holding him hostage. Unless I receive two million in used notes and Ed002's hand in marriage by midnight, you'll never hear from Nice Macca ever again.

PS- He told me to tell you we are certain to sign Eden Hazard in January- apparently the player had his toes crossed when he signed for Real, so the contract is null and void.

Macca's Evil Twin.

Why do you want to marry ed002's hand? ;o)

matte

Because he has been engaged to his right hand for many years now.
DM

Can we pay the 'two million in used notes' in euros? The way things are going, we could get Macca back for about £48 sterling.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Bloody hell satire on this site... the 14 year olds will be confused! {Ed002's Note - The problem is that my right hand is not in as good condition as my left - all those friction burns from spending last weekend with Blair.}

OMG, Ed0002- you went with Blair?
Someone tell me it isn't true...?

Well since you're no longer a virgin and have been sullied by his hands (friction, ffs?!), I formally retract my demand to marry your right hand.

If you ever want to hear from Nice Macca again, you must publicly declare your support for the Reds before sunrise.

Macca's Evil Twin

Team to play Norwich.

Carroll Suarez
Bellamy Adam SG Downing
Enrique Skrtel JC Johnson
Reina

Doni, Agger, Kelly, Spearing, Henderson, Sterling, Kuyt.

Swap skrtel for kelly and put downing on the left, bells on the right

I think hendo might start instead of carroll as a holding mid

Agger for Skrtel, give Bellamy a go up alongside Suarez, and Kuyt on the right.

If Liverpool build a new stadium I hope they design it as close as possible to Anfield from an interior perspective.
Hope they veer away from what Arsenal have done with the Emrites stadium and bring the fans as close as possible to the players on the playing field.

If they build a new stadium I hope they go for the one the two clowns designed. I think I read somewere it will have the largest single tier stand in the world. Is that right ED? {Ed001's Note - I believe so too, it was certainly a claim that was made, but I have no idea how I would go about verifying it!}

Yeah, good idea, just build a running track round it.

" largest single tier stand in the world "
That would definitely need to be verified if it was a hicks and gillet claim!!

You mean hicks and co

It's definatly in Europe - not sure about the world.

Just wondering when the self-deluded idiots are going to start coming out of the woodwork and posting about how they saw Eden Hazard or Neymar buying a pie at JL airport, etc.

There were quite a few in the summer who were obviously complete fantasists, but there were also a few who sounded credible, and who swore blind they were genuine and talked of various strikers we were in for.

But as usual the only one who turned out to be telling the truth- or who knew most of the truth- was Macca.

So before the madness starts again in advance of January, I'd advise folks to go back to the post made in the last fortnight of the summer window, and make a mental note of the posters, and who they said we were in for, and how wrong most of them were.
And remember their names when January comes around.

In Macca we trust- simple as.

Didnt macca say we were deffo signing benzema and one or two others in january......oops what happened there??

Ashley Young too. He did always say that things change though and they did as it turns out. So many things can derail a deal, we all know that. No wonder I haven't seen him on for a while when all he gets is slated for being honest!

Alex x give it a rest son and get a life, your glued to the Liverpool page 24/7! Are you nursing a semi that's preventing you from standing up and doing something with your life or incase mommy sees your pecker. Try getting out find a girl/boy whatever your preference, even though I think you would struggle with the lame rubbish that comes out your mouth.

On a lighter note I expect us to thrash Norwich 4 or 5 nil and hope Andy bags a few to get the kids confidence up.

Great Site, keep up the good work Eds!

Typical Liverpool fan has to resort to personal insults.
Haven't won anything in how long?
No need to take out on me because Asda are sick and tired of you phoning and asking how much every game is.

Mate not many team's have won much lately apart from chealsea an united .

Thanks a lot for the kind words Chris in Tamworth. It means a lot coming from a respected poster such as yourself! Look forward to reading your further contributions to this website.

Quite agree, how does Pearce always come up trumps with top jobs? {Ed001's Note - I really don't understand why such a poor coach and manager keeps getting these plum jobs. The guy has a complete lack of any kind of intelligence, no idea about tactics and no idea how to play decent football.}

What was the shortlist like though ?
Very short, I'd imagine !
The Real KB {Ed001's Note - you are correct, it was Ronnie Corbett, Warwick Davis and Gianfranco Zola, so very short.}

Lol. I'd have given it to Ronnie Corbett, all the way.
Imagine him giving one of his team talks. Sat on a stool, wearing one of his golf sweaters, droning on for half an hour, switching subjects, then delivering a hopeless punchline. Lol.
At least the players would have gone out relaxed afterwards. Comatose in fact. Lol.
The Real KB

I reckon ronnie would have more tactical nounce than pearce i would have let hope powell manage both teams mens and womens before letting pearce loose i dont know why they didnt ask terry venables to do the tournament as just a one off would have been a better choice with john toshack or keegan has is number 2 certainly would have been a better choice than pearce
giblet {Ed001's Note - as I said yesterday to the other editors, the women get Hope Powell while the men get No ****ing Hope!}

If Pearce had played for Liverpool he would have been great, unbelievable. {Ed001's Note - he was a great player, but he is and never will be a coach.}

If Carlsberg did football coaching, Pearce... No, no, that one doesn't work...

Im a red through and through and dont get me wrong I am praying for Carroll to come good, but I would have Torres ahead of Carroll any day. And by the way I was at Rangers the other night and Carroll was woeful along with many other players pushing for a first team place.

It's good that you want Carroll to come good mate, I think we all need to give him a bit more time. This season he will get used to the philosophy Kenny is trying to instill into the players. Like one of the Ed's said the other day, at Newcastle he was at the forefront of everything, here; he is another 'cog in our machine'. I'm sure in time he will prove his worth.
Like you, I miss Torres. Well, his goals and movement anyway, but he left us and turned his back on the best supporters in the world. He has given us some great memories and I'm sure when he looks back on his time here he might regret jumping ship so quickly.. If he made a public apology and explained his reasons for leaving, maybe, just maybe I'd welcome him back. But I doubt it, I can't see a modern day footballer having the 'cahonies' to do that - he was fantastic for us but we've got new strikers and we need to support them. Suarez, Carroll, Bellamy and Kuyt > Torres, Kuyt & Ngog.

Thanks
Chris

Give the Lad a chance that's all I say, have confidence in his abilities.
If Carroll had only cost 15m, I am sure he would not draw soo many critical comments.

Pity i thought the banter with Sir Alex was a laugh, but now knowing he is a true blue its pointless, they make themselves look like idiots themselves no point in us putting the effort in... Any way of cheering me up today Alex wait dont you'll just disappoint even more.Mr.Jones
P.S. too embarrassed to stand by your true club there Alex?

I just want to make a quick point on young Jordan Henderson..

People want all of these star names with huge ego's, but after reading and watching a few interviews with Hendo he seems such a humble player who wants nothing but to do well at our club and become better at what he does. Little things like staying late after training to work on his finishing and positioning, and not complaining about where he plays shows he has the attitude to succeed.
To me he seems like a class act. He's still young and admits he's 'not the finished article'. I feel this is the kind of player we need, and all of our players should be supported 100% despite the price tag or form they are in. As soon as they sign that contract and pull on the red shirt with the Liverbird up on their chest, they are a part of our family and should be welcomed with open arms. Granted they should be told if they do something wrong on the pitch, but support them, just as we have all done with past players. Henderson will become an integral part of our team in years to come. Look at Lucas, 90% of Liverpool fans would have his name first on the team sheet (I know I would) where as a year ago the majority of us labeled him 'not good enough'. Players will learn, adapt to our style of play and in time, become great at this special club.

Players are human beings like you and I, sometimes they need that sign of respect or pat on the back for approval, help their confidence grow. Show your support and prove to them that they will never walk alone.

Thanks,
Chris

Perfectly put mate.
Dara D

I was about to come on ere and say exactly the same thing chris this lads wants TO IMPROVE hes not like them lads with a massive ego thinking hes made it now time to let the reddies role in like ryan babel done and not pissing it up like the man utd squad
jayblair89

Plus, how did other midfielders at his age? the guy is 20. his position needs experience. and he's a super prospect, sometimes inconsistent, but superclassy.

Thanks mate, I'm getting a bit tired of supporters slating our players after a bad performance and then praising them no end after a good one. We should support everyone no matter what we're going through

Chris

Same with carroll mate i live in the north east and watched both these guys play people forget about this time last year carroll hammered our defense and arsenals
jayblair89

@Jayblair89 Every player needs our support, it's great that you got to see Carroll and Henderson play first hand last year. Unfortunately I can't get to games very often at the minute. But I agree, Carroll on his day is one of those strikers that is 'unplayable'. I'd like to see a bit more determination from him though, he looks a little labored but he's still getting used to his surroundings. I have every faith that he will be a great player for years to come.

Chris

Very good post chris! Some players like kaka, ronaldinho etc have very good young age start and fade later. But some ones like drogba they boom late and have a fantastic careers even in their 30's. Just wait until hendo and carroll reach 24 or 25 they will be terrific players for this club.

Abhi

Thanks Abhi, I hope your right with your post and they both get better with age. I'm sure they will, as they're both still really young, we all seem to forget that

Thanks,
Chris

What a great post Chris and one, every Liverpool 'supporter' should read! I was just going to click agree, but thought it deserved a reply! Your point about Lucas really hit home, as I've supported him from day one and still can't believe there are some wanting him out and never play for our great club again! Regarding Andy Carroll, I wish people would forget his price tag and get behind him, Kenny and our owners were prepared to do the deal, why can't we?

Keith

Thanks Keith, appreciate it.

It's good to know you support Lucas 100% and I know exactly what you mean. Its ludicrous that 'fans' still say he's not good enough, without him in the side I fear that our back four will become exposed a little too much. I'll look forward to seeing the rest of the midfielders in our squad step up to the plate on Saturday though!
I agree - If we sign someone its because Kenny and the rest of the staff think they're good enough. Who are we to doubt what Dalglish thinks. I'll trust him over the unnamed keyboard warriors :)

Thanks
Chris

That's it then.......no chance off olympic football glory for team GB. Stuart Pierce appointed our coach ffs! Should have given it to Hope Powell!
Iggypop

Well with 4 countries to call upon you should have a good chance of doing well, I always think that the medal count at olympics is a bit of a rip off when its all individual countries and then GB come in with 4 countries to make up their medals, surely most people would prefer it to be done on an individual basis, but, just to make it fair I'll be supporting Team Quality at next years olympics, I'm from Ireland and apart from a couple of boxing medals we win SFA so this time round I'm gonna pool in with China, USA and Russia.

Torres is starting to look every bit as good as he did when he played for u boys. Even if it was against genk, carroll couldn't do Anthony against rangers, and Kenny obviously doesn't rate him as highly as he did when he splashed that $35m out on him. Torres first hat trick for Chelsea could well come against you boys. Melbourne CFC

Wouldn't gloat about Torres just yet. He still looks like a completely different player to the one who terrorised defences in his first two seasons with us. Hope he does well for you but there are a lot of better strikers in the league right now.

If you're going to brag about anyone, I'd make it Sturridge. He looks like a top player. Good luck in the league, I hope you beat United and City to the title. Don't come on here to try to make us jealous though, it's not going to work. We're still on an upward trajectory - Carroll is 6 years younger than Torres

Red Ollie

Torres x3=suarez

£50m, 5 goals? (2 against Genk) in 27 games = Not good enough whichever way you try to dress it up mate.

dd

I'd say more putting down Carroll than gloating about Torres as most of you boys gave it to toffees on the Chelsea page last year. Bit of payback. Sturridge will be world class, I'll agree with that. You boys deserved to get the 3 points against Man Utd but still think that Europa is your best hope next year. Melbourne CFC

Hat trick against us? "could well come against you boys". What bullcr*p, how would it possibly make a difference if it's us?

Douchebag.

Ar I think you'll find it was actually you who splashed out the 35m on Carroll for us. His price was decided between Abramivich & Newcastle we had nothing to do with it except to ask for 15 million on top

His price was decided between abramovich and Newcastle? Abramovich doesn't give two s**ts about players of carrols quality. $50m for 5 goals in 27 is one way of looking at it. 4 goals in 4 games (2 against genk in champions league... U remember champions league boys don't ya?) confidence high. Only going to get higher, so I see it as quite logical to think when we play u boys with confidence high he has a good shot to get a hat trick... Your defennce is second rate after all. Sorry fellas your no longer a PL threat. Accept it. No need to drum on about your history as a response. Melbourne CFC

I suggest the original poster youtubes torres first 50 goals for LFC... before making such BS comments. Genk's defense is worse than a Championship relegation fodder. FT is no where near his former self. I wouldn't put him in your fantasy squad just yet!
