Evening eds.

are reporting that we could be looking to make a 'shock' bid for El Shaarawy, is this just a load of bull in your opinion?

Cheers {Ed002's Note - See earlier answer please.}

". Whenever someone fails. A player give up. doesn't seems like good enough. You don't need to motivate him. Instead Look LUCAS. the Unconditional Phoenix Bird. The first and last lame in comparison.

Whenever Liverpool loose a game, the player under-perform. the only one who survives the attack is LUCAS, He is up there always for comparisons.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Bit cryptic that Harry, care to clarify!

Agree0 Disagree0

Is it just me, or does anyone else think Harry Scousser writes these posts after finishing of a few pints?

I mean, his posts remind me of a drunk person walking (or an attempt attempt at walking, which usually is crawling among my friends)

Agree0 Disagree0

I still don't know whether his posts are serious or not!

I think it is Eric Cantona trolling.

Did we manage to get a single shot on target directly from one of our 13 or so corners against newcastle?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Corners are waste for us when attacking and a nightmare when defending.

It's the basics that we struggle with.

Agree0 Disagree0

We scored against Manchester United from a corner

We had some free headers inside 6 yards box and still didn't hit the target.
Suarez missed one, Sakho had an excelent opportunity.

AG I agree. were better off going short and starting an attack again. toure had a couple of good chances on his debut I think but since then we've rarely had a snif

The Newcastle game showed, IMO, that Lucas provides the protection we missed on Saturday. Henderson does his best, admirable but at times he just runs along his opponent without tackling or making himself the nuisance Lucas does. Overall the Newcastle did not show us in our best light; too many sloppy passes and very slow pace. Brendan Rodgers has always been an exponent of fast pace and high pressing, none of which was evident on Saturday. The game reminded me of the Southampton away game last season. We never really go out of our blocks.
Top of the table is crowded now and our opponents are NOT as good as newspapers make them to be. We must capitalize and move forward. Henrique (spelling) was also missed, his probing runs are a constant menace to the opposition. I can not understand how some fans call him 'rubbish' or other nonsense!
Come on the Reds. YNWA

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Liverpool are fluent and controlled in attack, resolute in midfield ''when Lucas plays'', but at the moment display little composure and appear desperate and ''last-ditch'' in defense. Had Lucas played on Saturday I very much doubt Cabaye would have got his shot off from the position he was in. Rodgers will have to address the defensive-midfield situation with a world class and work on settling the defense if we are to maintain the push. Also I think we missed Enrique.

Agree0 Disagree0

1. Lucas is an important player, but he was hardly the reason we didn't win at Newcastle.

2. You can't be bothered to edit "Henrique" into Enrique? I mean, It's the first letter of his name dude! Just joking. No offence.

Agree0 Disagree0

Molbysmetronome, Lucas is a guilty as Gerrard and Henderson of failing to close down opposition midfielders. Its laughable that you can't see how poor our midfielders are defensively. Those three at times, have all been as poor as each other.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lucas is a decent footballer who does a job for our team, but I would prefer if BR brought in a world class defensive midfielder who could do Lucas' job better. For all his positive attributes, Lucas has a lot of weaknesses like his lack of speed, strength and his ability to play a full 90 mins at a high tempo. Personally I would like to see BR bring in a strong, speedy DM with good passing range in January to provide competition to Lucas. Think we missed a trick by not going for Capoue or Gustavo instead of signing another luxury centre half. However there are still a number of very good DMs out there who could be available for reasonable fees like Matuidi (who can also play as a box to box midfielder), Mario Suarez, Gonalons etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

Indian Buzzer,

All good options. But Mario Suarez is a very slow player.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Oct 2013 10:41:01
Capoue for me should have been the best busness, at 9 mill he is a ral good player.
Spurs have got a lot of players in that position. sandro, capoue, paulinho dembele.
we are stuck with lucas and gerrard.

Agree0 Disagree0

Brisbane, I do express our need for a world class central-defensive signing and I agree that Henderson and Gerrard are not the solution to our problem, neither is Joe Allen in my opinion but the whole gist of my post was centered around our midfield frailties and so ''laughable that you can't see'' is way wide of the mark! Lucas is the best we've got at the moment so obviously we miss him when he doesn't play!

Agree0 Disagree0

Would have to disagree with you harry on capoue, i'm not sure what you are basing your opinion on? i'm doubting that he is a decent player but when I saw him in the arsenal game he couldn't cope with the physicallity of the game and hit the deck rolling around in agony from the slightest contact. to say we are "stuck" with gerrard and lucas is ignorant

No disrespect to UTD, so all the loms and glooms of RVP is over, Suarez still doing some trick on the pitch, Bale is warming the bench with early Injury and he would struggle big time Like Kaka.
If we are fighting for the Top4, then It would go down to the wire between us and UTD.
Its going to be either us or them in the Top4. I haven't seen anyone more clueless than Moyes last saturday, when he bought Giggs on, and Kagawa was scratching his Head.
Smalling for Rooney at home was the best Substituions ever.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Liverpool are in a good run of form. two points off us at the top, but impressive start.

the objective for the 1st half of the season is to make it to the transfer window, within touching distance of the top placed team, and if its possible to strengthen then do so at that time.

If Suarez takes up that transfer window with his saga, the team will falter, if the team are out of the top 4 by that point, that saga will be even worse.

I like the way Liverpool play, but I think a lack of a true holdin mid, effects the transition from defense to offense. its as if the entire backline moves up and down with the ball.

one team I admire with a perfect balance is Southampton.

wingbacks, centre backs, holding mids, attacking mids, wingers and CF. quality might not be top 4 but the balance is just downright impeccable.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Oct 2013 19:56:54
Yooo.
I agree. but mate, Check Arsenal. they are playing awesome.

Agree0 Disagree0

Harry, so you don't see Spurs as challengers for top 4?

Lakerville, I agree with Southampton. I think if we had Allen and Henderson in the middle our balance would be pretty perfect in a 4231. I'm hoping we go back to the pressing game sooner rather than later.

Agree0 Disagree0

Harry our squad is just as good as Arsenals and they really don't scare me. We can go to the emirates and win in a couple of weeks.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Oct 2013 20:29:34
yo. I forgot. so we should add up spurs the list.
Allen and Hendo in the middle?. perfect 4-2-3-1?.
we would have 90% possession. those two will pass sideways and backwards whole 90mts.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mighty reds
im not being funny but apart from saurez I can't see anyone else getting into the arsenal sqaud

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree0 Disagree0

Sturridge > Giroud
Suarez > Walcott

Skrtel > Mertesacker
Mignolet > Szcesny

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Oct 2013 10:43:25
Thats Total rubbish.
Sturridge is an excellent striker, so as Giroud.
Suarez would be better than walcot.
where would you add Ozil and carzola?.
wilshere is miles ahead of hendo + allen combined
and Flamini is their signing of the seaosn.
They still have ramsy and rosicky to add up.

what you talking about?

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm a spurs fan, but all those players getting in to the Arsenal team is a laugh.

Suarez just cause he's Suarez and Mignolet, but Szczezny is just as good on his day, he just seems to have more off days.

I think we would have won againts Newcastle if Lucas an Enrique played, if you look at where cabaye took his shot from, that Lucas' territory, he had loads of space because Henderson was court up field. I'm sure Lucas would have snubbed out the danger there.
Dummits goal, u can see he was being marked by cissoko and easly got away from him, I know u guys slate Enrique for his defending but I really don't think dummit would have easily got in front of Enrique like that.
Also think Rodgers should have taken skrtle or sakho of at halftime gone back to a 4-2-3-1 maybe brought sterling or Alberto on right away. Should have been 3 points.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

21 Oct 2013 14:51:26
Spot on.
Enrique isn't a brilliant defender, But yesterday proved, cisshokho is terrible than him.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Oct 2013 15:00:33
Yes We missed Lucas, for the forst 40 mts, New castle played really well, they were organised and we actually didn't had much clue, Henderson was no where seen in the pitch.
If lucas was availble, we would ahve controlled the match better.

So what next?

Agree0 Disagree0

Cissokho couldn't have had a worse debut if he tried. I hope it was only nerves because the lad was a complete liability. Suarez had one of his worse games and was still head and shoulders above the rest. Did anyone else think Alberto looked class when he came on? I personally hope he's picked before Moses on Saturday, the team needs a shake up because the Newcastle performance wasn't good enough

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Oct 2013 20:32:53
Dbol.
yes I agree. Alberto looked really good. lad was calm and composed even in the dying minute.
And its pity he isn't getting a full 90 mts

Agree0 Disagree0

Right ok, so now we are trashing a player who made his premier league debut after coming back from a lengthy absence due to injury? Now let's go back to the dummet goal for a second! When the ball was floated over skrtel in the center decided to check the run ofa player rather than attack the ball, sakho completely lost his bearings also, but no let's trash cissokho! Forgeting of course that he made a crucial tackle when newcastle were on the break at 2-2 and also should have had an assist when he tee'd suarez up who unfortunately hit the bar! Give it a break for god sake, it was his first full game! Harry, you pretend to be the oracle when it comes to football, but your inaccurate ramblings make you look like a fool more often than not! Ed02 sorry if this is deemed as stoking the preverbial fire but please post it because the constant trashing of players is enough to see me referred to some sort of asylum! Rant over!

Ian the red

Agree0 Disagree0

Harry Scousser,

Newcastle was Cissokho's first start in the PL! Give him some slack man! I have been to the St. James' Park twice to see LFC play them and on both occasions we lost (3-1 under Hodgson, Carroll scored 2 for them and 2-0 under Kenny when Pepe got send off). It is never a easy place to play and their support is monstrous (almost borderline abusive most times).

Also, you are a hypocrite. It wasn't long back that you questioned Alberto's signing and I distinctly remember you saying there will be Alberto's in "Every street of Spain" or something along those lines.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yo. I did question Alberto, But he proved it wrong in one single game, he was really good yesterday, Infact awesome, calm composed and very good.
I don't think like others he would take an year to get settle in.
Cisshokho was perfectly fit yesterday, and am not against not giving him any chance in future, My verdict was just on yesterdays game, He was terrible yesterday.
I would like to give Hendo more chances, But he too was terrible yesterday.

Agree0 Disagree0

Consensus then Agger an enrique in, Sakho and cissokho out, agree?

I missed the senior game as I was playing football myself on Saturday. Dissapointing performance, but that considered a good result. Playing bad and taking points is not the end of the world.

I did however watch the entire U21's game on Sunday. Thought I'd give on overview on each player:

Danny Ward: Was great at shot stopping throughout, but the first goal was definitely his fault. He hesitated when coming off his line and got punished by Vydra. Not a bad performance but he could've done better with the second goal as well.
6/10

Ryan McLaughlin: Once again was one of the standout performers. He was great at bursting forward throughout, showed some neat footwork and delivered some good balls into the box. defensively, he made a few good tackles. The pick would have to be his retreating tackle on Vydra. The guy burst clear of our defence but McLaughlin easily matched him for pace and stopped him brilliantly.
8/10

Lloyd Jones: Not the young lads best game, but he did okay. Was good at bringing the ball forward and passing it out as usual. He was just a bit slow to react to danger. Their third goal came about because he got caught ball watching and didn't track his man. He didn't do awful, but he could've done better. Dived in and picked up a silly yellow card as well.
5.5/10

Rafa Paez: Rafa was very strong in the air throughout, but could have dealt with Vydra a bit better for the first goal. He made no effort to block his run. His passing wasn't the best but he was resonably solid. He conceded a silly penalty blocking off Vydra. It was obvious he was going to go down. He nearly conceded another as well but he pulled the guys shirt just outside the area, and when he threw himself down 3 yards later, the ref saw the dive for what it was thankfully. He needs to improve his reading of the game.
5.5/10

Brad Smith: I wasn't largely impressed with him defensively. He is a very powerful runner and loves to carry the ball forward, but he gets the wrong side of his man too often. He also picked up a silly yellow card as a result of a very heavy first touch. His delivery was also very poor. When he was allowed more freedom to roam in the second half, he did improve, but he was too sloppy on the ball.
6/10

Craig Roddan: Put in some thumping tackles throughout. I have to say his calmness in possession impressed me. He regularly picked the ball up on the edge of our area and took his time to pick a pass, without losing possesion. He actually had a good game in the holding role and perhaps will be knocking on the door of Brendans plans if he puts in more displays like that. He is pretty much a young Lucas.
7.5/10

Jaoa Carlos Teixeira: Scored the first goal of the game with a nasty dipping shot that bounced right in front of the keeper. He nearly added a few more throughout the game. He gets himself into wonderful positions in and around the box, but he needs to find the corners more. His shooting was far too central. Tbh, the keeper will be dissapointed he conceded Teixeira's goal. It was nowhere near the corners. he was suprisingly strong on the ball though and demonstrated some mesmorizing footwork at times. He just needs to regain some sharpness after a long injury lay off as he got caught on the ball far too often. Most of the time he used his body well to draw a foul, but he lost it too much still. His passing range was very good though. He switched it to Ibe and Morgan on the wings very well.
7/10

Cameron Brannagan: The youngest and by far the smallest player on the pitch was just muscled out to be fair. He was too weak on the ball, but west Brom clearly targeted him knowing he is frail. Technically though, he is outstanding. He never took a bad touch and was involved in some great inter play throughout. It is laughable that LFC tv seem hell bent on crediting him our second goal though. He did get the faintest of flicks, but it was still not going in till it hit the thigh of a West Brom defender. What you can say is that had he not got the flick, it probably wouldn't have gone in. He had an excellent curling effort just before the break, but couldn't wrap his foot around the ball enough. He should have bagged a goal from a superb low cross but his shot just lacked the power to carry it past the keeper. Not a bad game for a young player, but I think he was a bit out of his depth yesterday.
5.5/10

Adam Morgan: I do not for the life of me know what he was thinking when he tried to take on 4 players on the edge of our 18 yard box, but he was caught out and punished when the opposition captain drilled in their 2nd. He was poor all game to be honest and gave away the ball repeatedly. His passing was sloppy and his finishing was awful. He blazed two good opportunities high and wide. He did put in a shift, but effort alone is not enough in every game. He looked slightly better on the left wing when him and Ibe switched on about the 75 minute mark, but he was poor. His only good contribution would have to be his free kick which drew our second goal, albeit an own goal.
4.5/10

Michael Ngoo: Perhaps the only player on the pitch to perform worse than Morgan. He was wasteful in his finishing and slowed down our passing too much by taking poor, or too many touches. His finishing was woeful. I don't think he tested the keeper once from a shot apart from with one shot so weak, it barely reached the goal from 18 yards out. He was very very poor and missed the opportunity to play in Ibe for what at the time could've been a crucial goal in the game. Instead he muscled his way past 3 players and hit again a weak shot straight at a defender. His only good contribution was a single header from a second half corner that did bring a save from the keeper. It wasn't powerful enough though.
4.5/10

Ibe: For me he put in a man of the match performance. It looked like a man playing in a team of mainly boys to be honest. He was powerful and direct with his running, strong on the ball, very sharp to turn away from players time and time again with his first touch, and should've had 2 assists had Ngoo and Brannagan been more clinical. He slipped a beautiful through ball in to set Ngoo for a simple side foot finish which he spooned high and wide, and was the player who drilled the low cross in to Brannagan that I mentioned earlier. His footwork was excellent around the penalty area though and he worked himself into good positions again and again. He was unlucky with his best opportunity of the game, as he slipped as he hit it, but still nearly found the bottom right corner of the goal. He showed excellent pace though, and was our biggest threat throughout cutting in from the left or driving down the right. He rarely fails to beat his man, and on those rare occassions he does fail, we usually win a corner. My man of the match.
8.5/10

Sub (Samed Yesil): When Yesil came on for Ngoo we immediately looked more dangerous. His link up play was better and his passing was crisp. Unfortunately he just didn't get long enough and I can't remember him getting a shot away. You could immediately tell he was of a different class though. He is in the same technical mould of Teixeira and Ibe, despite all 3 being different players.
6/10

Sub (Stephen Sama): When he came on the game was near enough over but he showed he is very powerful on the ball though at right back and got into a great position when Morgans heavy touch fell to him. He should have hit it first ime, but he took a touch and drove a shot just wide. Unfair to judge him on such a short cameo.
5/10

To conclude, 4-2 was not a bad result. The young lads may have lost but West Brom fielded a very experienced team including Zoltan Gera, Vydra and Graham Dorrans. Their team in general was 1 or 2 years older than ours across the board as well. The 3 goals conceded between the 13th and 28th minutes ultimately cost us, but we dominated the second half, despite them scoring a penalty against the run of play. We just needed to be more clinical, and cut out the sloppy errors at the back. I will try and catch the U18's next weekend and do a similar report. They are live on LFC tv for anyone who would like to see Harry Wilson and Jerome Sincalir in action!

Cheers mate. I would never call a player under the age of 24 dead wood. They might not be good enough for the first team, but I've learned my lesson from Lucas in particular. I think all of these players can make it. Morgan just had a very bad game (I think his costly mistake so early on affected him) and unfortunately for Ngoo, he is very much like Peter Crouch so doesn't fit our system. He could become a great 'plan B' but target men rarely peak at a young age anyway. I think Crouch was 26-ish by the time he got a big move to us. All of these guys are good enough to play at a high level. Unfortunately for some of them, there are even better players at a younger level. It is almost crazy I'm saying this, but the under 21's missed Rosssiter yesterday! His energy and drive would've served the team far better than two playmakers in Brannagan and Teixeira. Amazing that a 16 year old is already being missed by the reserves! I'm hoping he plays for the U18's next weekend so I can see him in a full 90 minutes again.

Hey folks,

just wondered if the eds and posters could help - I've always beena fan of Suso's and with his loan to La Liga its obviously a chance for him to develop and make the next step up in his career. I just want to know how well he is doing so far? I don't have the chance to watch any of his games so am pretty much in the dark in terms of his progress, form, etc etc. A relatively detailed response as to how he is doing, developing, strengths, weakness, etc would be most appreciated if an editor or fellow poster could find the time for one.

Thanks for the help guys and girls.

There is a blog I did on him and a few players in similar positions to him. Its probably not as detialed in terms of a review as you'd like though. I have already promised MIKEY1985 that at the end of the Spnaish season, I will do an in depth review on Suso's whole season though, so in the mean time, you'll ahve to wait for mine. He's only played 7 or 8 times so far so to be honest, there isn't much detail. He's demonstated good skill and vision though, and has 3 assists and a goal as of last week. Haven't seen any of the La Liga results from this weekend just gone, but going into it, Suso was in fine form.

The danger when you sent a player to his Homeland at young age, is that the player finds the place very attached.

If Lucas ain't playing then we have no balance. For all the money we spent this team really needed a DM for the past few years. i'm not talking about a 20 million pound player just one that can do a job for the team when needed. If Lucas gets injured then we will be easy pickings. This really makes me wonder why BR spent so much money on Allen when he was clearly not needed.

I don't think Allen will make it to the starting Team TBH, If he does it won't be on Merit, might be coz, Hendo would be out of form.
Mata, got back to cheslea coz, he is such a wonderful talent, who makes impact, Not because someone was injured and out of form.
I could see him starting next match, because hendo had an awful game and that's enough to COnvince BR to play allen up front.

Compare Henderson to Allen though of the ball Henderson all day but Allen is much better on the ball he is a good option and Rogers adores him so believe me he will get his chance I think he will take it aswell don't no why I can just see something good about him

well that's your opinion and il give him a chance to prove himself because he's our player, and that's not just blind faith as some on here call it, it's lessons learnt from passed experiences .ie Lucas because I give him grief and i've never been happier when someone has proved me wrong.
