this maybe taking the Bellamy rumour to a whole new level, however the number 17 shirt has no holder, Bellamy's previous shirt number for the reds.
He was a good player for us In my opinion and deserves a chance with us again.

ed with soto off payroll,aqua soon,degen maybe.possiby cole also.would you say that alone would free up centre half/striker bid?also dispite workrate would you sacrifice 31 year old dirk,to funding of a lopez.maybe agree with you 50-60% of time.but respect your view {Ed009's Note - I am almost certain we will get a centre half. I doubt Dirk would be sold so I am not so sure a striker will be signed, but from an emotionless perspective: yes I would certainly take that swap.}

Apparently Sebastian Coates Mum is Spanish so no work permit problems and guess what? his Ancestry is Scottish hence the name Coates. No wonder Kenny likes him;) 6ft 5" solid defender could be a bargain at somewhere round £12mil.

Think Coates is believeable in terms of the moneyball principle, and now that PSG seem to have backed out, I believe we are in pole position.

22 Aug 2011 22:58:53
I know this point has been raised before , however surely it's worth giving Johnson a few games on the right wing as he is class and fast going forward ( a bit ropey defending at times ) and leave Kelly at right back as he is proving his quality week after week . Who knows that partnership could turn out to be awesome down the right , just as Enrique and Downing are showing great promise on the left . Attacking down both flanks would hopefully stop the overuse of the long high hopeful ball fed up to Carroll which if continues will start worrying me , that brand of football just isn't LFC.

dirk kuyt will not be sold to inter in this window or any other window because he is happy at liverpool and will not leave so inter can keep their money in their wallet

22 Aug 2011 22:54:21
Hope Coates signs, young, very mobile and quality is what we need and he ticks them all. What price would we be looking at for him? If it's anything under 15m i'd take him over Cahill, Dann, Mertascker or any other centre half we've been linked with. I'd also like to see us try for Bryan Ruiz again, can play upfront or on either wing and has pace, flair and trickery also wouldnt be anything over 14m. Ed, do you think he'd would be a possible signing if we decided to go for him?

Realistic Red {Ed009's Note - He is very possibly going to sign for an English club, but I can't see it being us at this time.}

22 Aug 2011 22:14:01
And to the bloke who hopes that we'd "unearth another little gem as Bale": HOW DO YOU KNOW WE HAVEN'T? Bale took a long time to polish, a very long time indeed. He was injured, he was a reserve, he was about to be loaned out, he was about to be sold for a meagre fee. Now he is top class.
Players rarely come as gems. They need time, and SUPPORT.

Cheers mates, can't wait to see us trashing United.

22 Aug 2011 22:13:17
Spurs 4 points, Arsenal 3 points behind.
Chelsea on level.
United and City 2 points ahead.

I say not looking bad at the moment. Decent start. And our least expectation is the 4th spot. So, having Arsenal and Spurs behind is great. And United, Arsenal, Spurs, City all play against one another next week. Expect two of them to lose points. And a win against Bolton; then things will look rosy red!

Just a thought BUT...

Bale had a 0 match, no goals, no assists, no nothing. Shouldn't spurs fans start slamming him as another useless Brit? Perhaps a cheeky bid is in order, as several weak matches seem to be enough for a player to be dubbed "a useless player" by the majority of fans...

I saw someone post about a Fantasy football league on here about a week ago and just wondered if anyone has got the details and which website is it.

great site by the way gets me through the boring nightshifts in the office. {Ed009's Note - it is the official Premier League site; I am no longer sure of the details but I have no doubt someone can enlighten you.}

22 Aug 2011 21:59:55
Who do you see as the most realistic target as a forward player? Rodallega,Doyle or Bellamy?

22 Aug 2011 21:57:53
I would just like to wish Soto well at Wolfsburg. Always gave Liverpool 100 percent and was probably one of our better players during the bad times last season. A true pro Good Luck BIG GREEK.

22 Aug 2011 21:55:23
Ed, I think you need to rename the page from "Liverpool Rumours" to "Liverpool, continually ask the same banal repetitive questions". Any chance we can go back to people posting actual real rumours rather than "hey ed, what is you 'out of 10 estimate' for the following 97 players" or how about "what the latest on [insert name of player mentioned a million times]" ....people, its very very boring!

ok here we go,gona be accussed of being a manc t at.queue the chidish comments(inspiteve being long standing lfc season tigket holder)manc u football tonight was different planet,to our slow lethargic paceless show mostve sunday.why?manc uS pace!and pace in depth!all areas.yes will take us time to gel,and we have no johnson,stevie.but midfield aint got a lot.and when carrol and dirk play(despite their other assets)neither has upfront.right side without johnson struggeling.pace pace pace lfc.our build ups often lethargic.think ild take 8m for dirk despite great workrate for ilk of lopez,sturridge,whoever.and a creative turan/modric esque type.know early,but dull compared to utd,city,spurs.just being honest,though it pains me.q insults

Watching Spurs tonight is really making me angry as they dont show any resistance whatsoever to the mancs. They should be ashamed of themselves.

A bit Jelus to see Man Utd young player doing very well. Cleverly and Weback, Cleverly is reguler in their team. what about our Player. the young guns doing very well last 2 years where are they? sale them for half m or loan them and ??? after Gerrard and Owen we never saw a good young guys come out to play for reguler team. did we out of stock?? Wish we have atleast 1 guy come out this year that will be a £20m save.

Someone must be reading Macca's posts! Coates' wiki page (which we know doesn't mean anything) says that he signed for LFC today. Sounds like a promising young CB. Maybe we could also splash out on Dann - that would be nice.

I hope Macca is wrong about Bellamy - it's like an old GF - move and don't look back.

Hi Eds fantastic site
Coates seems like a promising young talent. I was just wandering is he good enough for our squad and he will probably be a gradual replacement for carra so do you think he can take command of the back like carra does? Sorry if this is a wordy question :)

Ghandi Floss {Ed009's Note - I think he would be one of our three first choice centre backs in Agger, himself and Carragher. He is 20 and a full international, so not so inexperienced as to be purely "one for the future."}

Ed please can you tell me who sebastian coats is? Don't know anything about him? Thanks! {Ed009's Note - He is a 20 year old, full Uruguayan International, centre back. He ply's his trade for Nacional when not doing his thing with Suarez and is very, very highly rated. His stock has risen immeasurably since his Young Player of the Tournament award at the Copa America.}

LOL. I love a good rumour but i really cant be doing with all this sycophantic Macca worshipping.. No offense Macca.
Its complete guesswork, most of the time the targets change from one name to another. one or two come off and sudeenly ya get ya own page. Ive been reading this site for a long time and ive seen many ppl get a hit with a rumour.
Come on people.. just be patient and see what happens n stop making fools of urself by begging for information from someone that has just a tad more info than the next person..
Ive seen ppl slagging off LFC players left right and centre.. then come back the next day worshipping Macca... Lets just get on with supporeting our team!!

Ed with Kyriagos now gone and the impending departure of Aqualani to AC that must save us roughly £80,000. A week plus around 6-9 million in money. Unsure if the Kuyt rumours are true but if Inter offered 8-10 million for him I'd take this also.

Apparently we are signing Coates from Nacional for no more than 10-12 million. This would roughly leave 9 million plus the Ngog money so 13-14 million and whatever else we have and a saving on wages of 160-180,000 a week in wages.

Could you possibly see us signing Zarate of Lazio for a well priced 10 million I'd say and also a decent right winger? I would argue we could even afford Dann at a cut price 6-8 million.

So we'd lose
Kuyt. 8-12million
Ngog. 4-5 million
Kyriagos. Free
Aqualani. 6-10 million
And hopefully Poulsen and Insua ( combined I'd take 4-5 to be honest ). Total 36-40 million.

Total wages saving (roughly) £260,000 a week in wages we could afford

Coates (10-12 million)
Dann (6-8 million)
Zarate (10-12 million)
And a right winger totals 45 million plus the wages for ins would be far less than the outs.

Would you take Zarate and who would be preferred choice for right?

{Ed002's Note - Sadly it doesn't work like that at all.}

22 Aug 2011 20:22:13
Wow I seriously cannot wait until the transfer window closes, this is the last website I check before going to bed and the first I check when I wake up. When I am 'at work' I am checking the site every hour just to see which centre back we have been linked with now - first Dann then Cahill and now Coates. To be honest I haven't really seen any of these players but I have complete faith in what KK and DC are doing at the club. I seriously believe that this is the strongest squad we have put together for a long time, certainly up there with the 2009 team that finished second. If you compare the major players from those teams - Mascherano or Lucas; Alonso or Adam; Riera or Downing; Torres or Suarez; Riise or Enrique - who would you want back? The obvious one is Alonso but from what I have seen Adam looks like a very similar player to Alonso and the benefit is he won't feel homesick after 4-years and want to go back home to Scotland ; )

For me though the major difference between these sides is the managers. I will always appreciate what Rafa done for the club - he gave me one of the greatest nights of my life in the 2005 champions league final - when you looked at that 2009 team on paper it looked so strong, but when you watched them it always seemed too orchestrated or rehearsed, more like a game of chess than a spontanious football match in which we relied on Torres and Gerrard. It was like watching a formula one car with the hand-brake on. I can see KK is trying to get us to play with more freedom and expression now, flowing attacking football similar to those 80's teams and how Man U play now, not reliant on individuals but a team effort.

That is why I have complete faith in the management team and the players they have bought in - so what if we may have payed over the odds for a few of them, it is not their fault, they didn't control their transfer fee. I honestly believe we are one defender and maybe one offensive player short of having a really strong squad.Let's get behind the team and support the management.

Is the reason we didnt bid for Mata that we already have a rather large midfield. I think he would have been a good assett, but hay hoo.

I do think Adam Johnson would be a good signing if we could get from moneybags city, he always looks good when attacking and does have abit of skill about him. What do u reckon guys?

hearing coates south american is on way to liverpool, and bellemy is aslo coming back. ngog aqau, and soko, are going although soko is already gone as on sky, ive no reason to doubt all rest this come from someone who gives team the night before only being wrong once or twice when johnson got injured and other last min injuries,

Hi Guys, I am desperately trying to get 2 tickets in the KOP for the 3rd March against Arsenal! I am trying to surprise my boyfriend, a total LFC freak! We are from South Africa and booking flights to be there for this game. I have tried so many avenues but can't get anything in the KOP! Please any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Eds.

I'm at a loss, and was hoping you might be able to fill the void - with Kyrgiakos (at least i had a go at the spelling...) out, that leaves the number 16 shirt free. With one particular Argentinian having signed for a certain manchester club, who do you suggest we get massively over-zealous about signing?

22 Aug 2011 19:24:04
Hey Ed's i just wanted to say king kenny has said that the owners told him to continue spending plus we have just released the greek and aquilani will also soon be leaving with about a week to go in the transfer market do use reckon that we will most likely be signing at least 2 more players? {Ed009's Note - one, perhaps two.}

22 Aug 2011 19:26:27
Gary Cahill and Rodallega will sign by Friday
I have just read about Coates on Wikipedia stating liverpool FC have been given the thumbs up basicaly by Suarez is this a dodgy rumour about coates? errm

Are people getting their info from there EDs?? (check it out EDs if you don't believe me KB

Hi Eds Could the Sebastian coates rumours originated from Wikipedeia

This name uses Spanish naming customs; the first or paternal family name is Coates and the second or maternal family name is Nion.
Sebastián Coates Nion (born in Montevideo on 7 October 1990) is a Uruguayan football player who has played for Nacional since 2009. Fans call him Luganito or Little Lugano.[1]. His form has led to enquiries from Liverpool F.C. after recommendation from national team mate Luis Suarez

Is this the real source????? A TRUE KOPITE {Ed002's Note - Nope.}

22 Aug 2011 18:31:31
Just q macca you think Benayoun and Bellamy will return, I have mixed feelings I rate Maxi and would like him to be given a chance to link up with Suarez, and if both these came his chances will be near zero

Soto,just to say thanks for giving 100% in everygame you played. Just not quite good enough for us mate but a warrior who i doubt has ever s**t out of a tackle in his life or a header come to think of it. In times of Alexander The Great you would have been the ultimate warrior but probably would've tripped up someone up who fell into you with a sword to kill you ha ha. Seriously,you tried you best mate and thats all anyman can ask for. Good luck for your new club,and you captained Liverpool even tho it was a friendly. Soto,YNWA mate. Jonson6

So Kyrgiakos has gone meaning we are now 99.9% to sign a CB in this window. No idea who, hopefully Cahill IMO.

I would just like to say though, I'm sad to see Soto go. I don't think he ever put a foot wrong from what I saw. Of course he was always ever going to be 4th choice CB but he never moaned, he just got on with it and did a dam good job when he played. Got some goals too so I'd like to say thanks for his contribution and I hope he does well at Wolfsburg.

I thought Emmanuel Frimpong was great against Liverpool.

He looks like a player. Really broke up the play well.

How good is sebastian coates do you think he could slot straight into the team? I have only seen one game with him for uraguay i hear he is rated very highly? {Ed002's Note - Coates is young but seen as an excellent prospect - otherwise we would not have seen interest from Porto, Juventus, Inter, Manchester City, Benfica, Shaktar, Lazio, AC Milan and Liverpool.}

I read about coates having an agreement with a premier league club? Liverpool? In an article by Ricardo Silva. Dated 29th July.So it doesn't coma as a surprise if it comes true.Looks to have a massive potential.

Really surprised by some of the negativity over the past couple of days on here, not only did we win at the Emirates but Arsenal were off the park at times, surely no one can doubt signing Adam now, or Downing for that matter. Yes Carroll was quiet but don't forget who was marking him, Vermaelen for me is one of the best cb's in the league, he is very similar to Agger so i can't see how people can complain about him getting the better of Andy.
The same can be said of Henderson for most of the game he was up against Sagna a very good rb, personally i rate Henderson obviously so does Kenny so that should be enough for anyone. Some may call that blind faith but you only have to look at saturday's performance to see Liverpool are a force again. What was key for me was after the first goal we didn't drop back and defend like we have done in recent times, the whole team attacked and was rewarded with a second.

Seems as though this is the week for player leaving hopefully freeing up the wage bill for 2 or 3 more coming in, a cb, striker and with abit of luck the Sissoko interest gets followed up.

A trip to St James next to take on Exeter lets hope we can have a good cup run this year.

Sebastian Coates is the prefered CB of DC and KD over Cahil and Dann, enquiries for all 3 players have taken place but only one offer in excess of 8million will be placed within the next 24hrs and that will be for Coates.

According to Paul Tomkinson the Kuyt to Inter rumour is a re-hash of a year old story. It has been mistakenly reproduced by a Dutch website.
Also Kyrgiakos has definitely trained with Wolfsburg today.

In your opinion Eds how much is Coates likely to cost? {Ed002's Note - Not much - less than £10M.}

Are we receiving a fee for Soto Eds? If the Coates thing is true we will be getting a beast of a player, fingers crossed! {Ed009's Note - I believe it is a straight free. If there is a fee at all it will be very small.}

Noticed on the liverpool website before that KK was talking up Kuyt's ability and him not just being a workhorse then next thing we hear of firm interest from Inter for Kuyt. I realise this is probably a complete coincidence but could this be Kenny playing the media to keep everyone second guessing just like he did with babel before he left? Could be a pretty interesting 9 days ahead of us. I am assuming that if Kuyt moves on then Hazzard or Johnson are nailed on to arrive. Bet Ed002 can't wait for this coming week answering the same questions over and over.

Cheers

I saw today that Juventus goes for Affelay for 8 mil. This is becoming ridiculous. If Barca wants to give him away, anything below 15 mil is a bargain. Yes we got good targets but come on, I feel they didn't do a good job this summer(Henderson 16 mil????). Inter is in for Kuyt, ship him away he is 31 years old it is time to sell him and buy something that fits more into our system(young player). Is this supposed to be good planning?

Ed,

For days now, I have intentionally sat back to read what others have to write. I must tell you how disappointed I am with how people think or even write.
I am surprised to see how people are already writing off the team with just 2 games into the season.

If the season is judged by fans optimism or pessimism, then you should know that by now we will be relegation bound.
I just want to use this opportunity to appeal to the fans to give these guys a chance to prove themselves.

The 2005 Champions league finals was won not because the fan slagged the team, but because they stood solidly behind them. Right from the dressing room, the team heard the resounding echos of 'YNWA' and they were motivated. It's high time we did that again and we'll never walk alone.

I see the team doing great. I see depth which we have lacked for years. I see potentials for flair in Meireles and Suarez. I see the never say die spirit in our team. I see the team surpassing our expectations this season, let's just cross fingers and wait as the game unfolds.
If you are an LFC fan, open your mouth or heart and say the words: "YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE'

I, being a liverpool supporter for over 30 years agree with many others that paying 55 million for Carroll and Henderson was a complete waste of money, vastly over rated players at vastly over rated prices. Money could have been spent more wisely.

Would be happy to see Kuyt go for 7-10m, he has been a very good servant and will continue to be one for us if he stays, but we really need more than that now.

I want Higuain - great record and will compliment our side.

Sell Ngog as well for 4 m, sell Kuyt for 7m. approx 11m.

Higuain would cost about 25m , and wages would be simiular to Kuyts + Ngogs combined.

Buy Godin at centre half, sell Soto and Wilson.
Put Carra on bench, not good enough anymore.

Hate to say it, but sell Spearing as well. Good lad but not world class, probably never will be.

Keep raul, give him some raw meat, & guiness for breakfast and make him room with Agger to toughen him up.

Job done.
Get gerrard back to fitness and we have a quality squad.

Ed's great site keep up the good work.

Can I just ask that we all concentrate on who may or may not be coming to us in the next 9 days. (I'm sure the Ed's will be much happier - as long as we have sensible suggestions!!!! As much as I like the sound that we have signed Pele, to be announced after the game on Saturday).

Let's put aside our differences on who we think have been good buys this summer and who hasn't.

Lets stop repsonding to those who doubt/criticise some players and those who defend those players.

Lets have some original rumours and orignal banter but most importantly lets support Liverpool.

We are in the best place we have ever been for years now. Like or doubt the manager - KK's record so far is an improvement.

Trust or be wary of the new owners - they have spent more money than before.

Agree or disagree over the players - the squad is as strong as it has been for many years.

Who should or shouldn't have started - either way we now have quality players on the bench.

The future is bright - The future is RED

Come the 1st October we can all have a bit of banter of who the good buys were/weren't!!!

Spriggo moves to quickly let it be known that "Andy Carroll Liverpools number 9.

End of story."

Square tomato concurs, and takes it further by suggesting a brigade that will be Carroll's bastion against any and all criticism.

Forget the relevance and validity or otherwise of the criticism; they'll be in "Carroll's corner", "end of story."

You question or express your disapprobation of the manager and players, there's summat "wrong" with you; you're a "Scum/bitter bluenose in disguise".
You're "not a real fan".

Perhaps an explanation and of what is to be regarded a "real" fan should be provided.
I also request Spriggo, Square tomato and the like to explain to this forum what the following comment says about the legitimacy of the author as a Liverpool fan:

"£55m on Carroll and Henderson was friggin' waste of money. They mediocre and will never be good enough. Bad move by Kenny. Am disappointed. I don't see us getting top 4 with this team."

Will look out for the replies.

the kuyt offer is out of the blue and thats whats exciting from now upto the end of the window, no doubt there will be a few more of these, and hopefully we're involved (for the better)...i think with kuyt, there are alot players who can do a better job, as he works damn hard but lacks that touch of class and has been a bittersweet servant for us - im not goin to open a can of worms by mentioning names, but if we had some of similar work ethic and a bit more class about them, i think we could really push on...but with football, who knows....

22 Aug 2011 15:26:26
dont think kuyt will go but how can inter milan tell his agent what they would offer in wages if they haven`t had permission off lfc to talk with the player/agent?

I love liverpool football club and i love our legend Kenny Daglish but he should realise that we need flair in that team.players that can hold the ball,players with skills,players that can make things happen and players with speed(man utd has nani and young,chelsea has maluda,torres, and mata,man city has silva,johnson,kun,philips,teves and nasri,spurs has lenon,van d vart)

Inter want Kyut. Ed do u think its Good Business for Liverpool. He is been a good servent for Liverpool but at the age of 31 he dont have much to offer. use that money and bring a Top class striker. {Ed009's Note - It surely would depend largely on the size of said bid for Kuyt. If we could get around 15 million pounds it would undoubtedly be good business from a harsh, business driven angle. Any less and we would be unable to find a top class replacement, and one would truly be needed. That logic aside, I know that there was no intention to sell Kuyt at the start of the window, so a buyer won't actively have been sought out.}

Hi Eds. Do you think this transfer window will see Liverpool football club in a really bad light as far as transfers and players contactual dealings are concerned?
If you take this wndow for instance,we have certainly overpaid for players. (Enrique being the exeption) There is no doubt we are loosing lots of money on players who have left and who are leaving nobone could blame other clubs thinking we are a soft touch and exploit our current problems we have contractualy with certain individuals.

Is this strategy of paying players to leave the club a way of clearing the decks and starting afresh with tougher transfer policies? (I hope so0 and i hope this drastic action is a result of the astonsihment of some of the outrageous contracts some of the players have/had. Joe Coles contract if true is a Fing disrace and an insult to the fantastic supporters who love this club and sometimes don't as much as aknowledge the fans.
We as Fans suffer through ticket price increases and there some of us who pay a large percentage of our wages, to watch liverpool. Are funding players wages
Do these players ever consider that? (no). Do they actually care about the club?

We have had years of people laughing at our club and enjoying the demise. (because thats what it has been for 21 years). Yes we won the CL but though a wonderful comeback, lucky aswell.

The last Americans brought shame on this club and broke lots of promises. I very much doubt J.Henry and co are about to do the same in fact. they seem to be doing everything possible to restore faith in the fans,management and the players and make L.F.C. great again. This is as far as supporting Kenny in the Transfer market and giving th fans a voice. Listening to the fans is very important and John Henry seems to be listening, He gave us Kenny and is giving kenny what he wants. Also they are very proactive on the commercial which is very important to the club. The Americans seem to have a very capable set up and we can feel optimistic about the future. However I feel this Transfer window can be dammaging to LiverpoolFc if it is only for the very short term then thats ok.
We must be seen as a strong club on/off the field to be totally successful.

Liverpoolfc forever (God Bless The 96 and may their family and friends get the justice they deserve.) EJ {Ed002's Note - I don't suppose anyone will remember the prices paid after a few months. As for Cole's package, it includes an element of his signing on fee, but in general footballers at the highest level are paid a lot. It nothing to do with Liverpool.}

22 Aug 2011 14:58:02
Is it me, or does Andy Carroll NEVER get a decision from a ref?

If he so much as breathes on a player they go down like they've been shot, and he gives away a free kick.

And I think it's going to take a centre half to cut his head off with a machete before he'll win a free kick himself.

It must frustrate the hell out of the poor lad, but at least he keeps on trying.

Good on you Andy- just keep trying lad- these pillocks will cotton on eventually.

What do you think of the possibility of Keeping Meireles until Jan as experienced cover for Gerrard? We could command a decent fee then as he could be wanted by the poorer performing or injury ridden clubs.

I have to say, I absolutely love the debates that go on on here. We should all realise that we are all Liverpool fans, whatever our opinions. No one should be attacked for voicing an opinion which isn't the status quo. The one opinion I would like to hear though is the opinion of the Ed who was not a fan of Andy Carroll when he was just a player we were rumoured to be interested in. He used to site his "slow turning circle" as one of the reasons. It was back when the post was annotated with "ed's note" without a number. Any feedback ed's?

To the Meireles middle finger questions

Apparently Frimpong saluted Lucas in that way after his dismissal, and it was an "inside joke" between him and Lucas.

Or in actual fact Meireles is off to Chelski and was making himself popular early, by patronizing Arsenal fans. Either way he's still got a massive finger.

On that Meireles to Chelsea subject; Who here thinks it would be insane to swap Meireles for sturridge + cash??

Agree = Yes, I'd rather keep Raul
Disagree = No, I'd rather Sturridge

I read some of the posts on here and wonder if half of you were actually watching the same game as me... if Carrolls first half attemtped header had gone in and wasnt miraculously saved by sczeszney (spelling) i wonder, would you all be banging on still That was a great save, 90% of keepers in the league probabily wouldnt have even gone for it let alone saved it... the fact of the matter is, it wasnt Suarez and Meireles who changed the game, it was our style of play... which went from high long balls, to quick 1 touch passing... lets not forget United have won the last 2 season off the back of results like this, where overall performance hasnt been world class, but they dig their heels in a grind the results out.... this time last season we had 1 point and the future looked dark... the owners have given us what we wanted.... King Kenny, 100m to spend, strength in depth.... so will you all stop winging or go the man u/chelsea pages, im sure everyone on there will want to hear what you got to say, but we don't

or does "you'll never walk alone" not count for anything these days??

If all the anti Henderson fans who keep quoting his price at 20mil when its more like 16mil.Lets knock 4 mil off Enriques price and when fans write about him,we can say we got him for 2 and K.K can look like even more of a genius that if already is. Vermulen only beat Carroll in the air when he was clambering all over him. When the ball was hung up and Carroll was actually allowed to leap i.e from a Reina kick and they both leapt,Carroll dominated him. Jonson6

22 Aug 2011 13:28:53
Im really finding it hard to read this site at the moment.
Every other comment is someone slagging off certain players, especially Andy Carroll, who will be a great player for us I have no doubt.

Whatever happened to supporting the team...if all you want is instant glory go become a Manc fan until whiskey snout retires then you can come back and support us again once we are back in the routine of winning trophies

Kez {Ed002's Note - Kez - you will notice after every match the fans turn on at least one player. It happened last season as well. Reina was even a figure of hate when the fans thought he was leaving. Lucas was week after week but was loved in the end.}

Good shout. Sell Carroll and get Doyle in.

22 Aug 2011 13:21:54
I notice none of the posts slagging our players are signed. You know why? Because you're sour Manc fans, scared because you can see Liverpool are a force once more. Go back to your own site page. Henderson is a promising young talent who will be in the team for a decade, same applies to Carroll. Kuyt is so poor that last year he scored 15 and assisted 8. Gareth Bale scored 7 and assisted 1. Butyou'd all love him though because he's more extravagant. Face it, Kuyt gets the job done. I know it kind of defeats the object of an open forum Ed's, but you need to consider deleting any unsigned posts. I'm fed up of other clubs fans, or mentally challenged Liverpool fans ridiculing our players. If he is wearing the Liverpool Red, he's a hero to me, and I'll support them till death. So Carroll, Henderson and Kuyt had an average game, they ran so relentlessly and tired Arsenals defence so much that when Suarez and Meireles came on they demolished the tired defenders.
Only other point i would like to make, did anybody see Meireles put his middle finger up to Lucas after our second goal on Saturday? Suarez had to put it down. I'm not sure whether it was aimed at the Arsenal keeper, the Camera, the crowd, but it looked like Lucas. Not sure what it was all about.
An aggitated TRUE fan here. Do you know why we are called the supporters?

Ed , has Jakub Sokolik left the club , he did not feature in any of the pre-season games and a Celtic fan said (on their rumour pages ) that he was signing for them last week . {Ed002's Note - I don't know where he is. I have him listed still at Liverpool.}

22 Aug 2011 13:09:33
do fans think lpool dont get the credit they deserve,cast your mind back one year ago to our home game against arsenal,joe cole sent off,and dan agger suffering from concussion most of the secound half,meaning it was nearly 9 men against arsenals 11 , we played great and only for a last min slip , we should of won, so we beat arsenal, okay maybe not their all their first 11, we never looked in danger we worked hard as a team and got the result , but all the talk is about wenger etc , we started with 4 or so players that have just arrived at the club , so we know it will get even better when these players play more together, our squad is geting stronger and kenny is a great manager, but to listen to the tv and radio people its still, oh if lpool finish 4th its maybe the best they can hope for, well looking at the months ahead i think we will do better than 4th......lfc

just a thought, what would be the required fee to bring shaqiri to liverpool? could solve our right wing problem and looked quality in the u21 championships

22 Aug 2011 12:36:38
Ed rumours from spain suggesting higuain is not happy at real. Do you think liverpool may put in a cheeky last day bid in.....

if ngog does leave even with kuyt I dont think liverpool have enough cover up front unlike man utd chelsea and man city who have atleast four quality players to choose from to part upfront. {Ed002's Note - I doubt it. Do Liverpool have £30M for a cheeky bid?}

22 Aug 2011 12:29:15
Look we have swapped Torres and Babel who were not intrested and still are not by the look of things at thier present clubs ?
And we got Carroll and Suarez in return.
I am far happier with that.
Why worry how much they cost ?
We got them both in January and one was injured , some of you people have really got give players a chance.
We have half a new team , no goals conceded and a great away win at Arsenal.
And we are getting rid of the players we do not need. And we are still spending.
I am just glad that the players don't give up as easy as some the so called fans

Ed, I saw yesterday that Capello was considering calling Kelly up for the England squad, do you no whether he has or not yet? Thanks, kelly23 {Ed002's Note - I have no idea, sorry.}

22 Aug 2011 12:14:43
I think what all LFC fans need to bear in mind is that FSG's business strategy this season has been to reduce the massive wage bill but add quality in depth. all evidence shows this to be true (jova, el zhar, possibly aqua and cole) and spend relatively big on players who demand a lesser wage. you can even take torres into this equation albeit last season, his wages cover both suarez and carroll's.

my point is this: whoever Liverpool but in the next few days, will be of sufficient quality to add to the team yet only add a modest amount to the wage bill.

22 Aug 2011 12:07:04
Hi Ed i hear Hazard is up for sale for 26m.
Arsenal are after him now so don't you think we should bid and try get him cause he is gonna be huge. I now we have no money in the transfer kiti but i'm shure Fenway could losen the purse strings for this young future world star who will be worth double in a couple of years.

22 Aug 2011 11:59:28
Lets get real everyone, we won at arsenal on saturday, great result (but in all honesty vermalen had carrol in his back pocket and henderson was hopeless)

22 Aug 2011 11:56:25
Told you last week, my mate is a mackem and told me that they could not believe they got 20m for Henderson. Cant tackle, cant pass forward, cant score, cant beat a man but he will run all day - no good

22 Aug 2011 11:53:54
Agree with recent post that Henderson, Carroll and Kuyt are just not up to scratch. Wasted lots of money on the first two - oh what we could have bought

22 Aug 2011 11:52:25
After Suarez's goal on Saturday Merieles appeared to give the finger to the bench, anyone know what that was about, is he moody with KK for some reason. I know we have shop windowed him and the rumour is we havent come good on a wage negotiation we brought him on board with, does anyone have any information?

22 Aug 2011 12:19:53
Carroll Playing well for Newcstle. there was a £28m Bid from tottenham for Carroll. and the time Torres want to go. we need a back up. we Try for pastore, Loriente but not happen for us. we offer £30m for Carroll And New castle want £35m there are not much choice we have pay £35m or with out a striker rest of the seosen. and yes its not the Time to judge him what he can do. wait until end of the seosen to say the money use wellor not.

22 Aug 2011 11:42:33
CARROLL: the question has been asked: why are people constantly casting aspersions over this player.
Simple, really. Such folks feel that, (a) at that fee (£35m), there were better options, and (b) he doesn't suit our game and is thus a hindrance than anything else, as has been evidenced the team (largely) playing well in his absence than when he's there.

Simply put, the folks' view is that Carroll is a player we didn't /don't need. His performances don't justify the money paid for him.

Whether they're right or wrong is immaterial. They expressing their views, to which they're entitled.
If anyone has an issue with those views, as is the case, such an individual ought to make a case for his position.

RAHEEM STERLING: huge, huge talent. Tac&tech awareness, pace, skill, invention and excellent end-product.

The starting point and basis of any excellent footballer is good decision-making and an end-product. And this is what will separate this kid from his peers many others who've come before him.

Another massive, CRUCIAL quality that makes me adore this lad is his willingness to get stuck and never be easily bullied; he's no tum-tum, nobody's pushover. (See the Valerenga preseason game.)

Many will violently reject this, but in 3 years, I expect Sterling to be LFC's best player, most certainly one of the best in the PL.
The lad is simply extraordinary.

Lastly,
BOLTON ON SATURDAY: history tells us that we'll comfortably win this match. I agree.
As tough as a customer it ordinarily is, Bolton will be swept aside.

I expect one change from the team that beat Arsenal: Suarez to come in for Carroll.
Playing at Anfield-- and the fitness levels a tad improve-- I expect fluidity in movement, quick, accurate passing and a high tempo.

Unlike against Sunderland, we should see sustained intensity and precision with the fitness much more improved.

PREDICTION: LFC 6-2 BWFC
SCORERS: Kuyt x2, Downing, Agger x2, Cahill o/g

I watched the game on Saturday and have to say I was impressed with all the players that played; I was a bit apprehensive before the game with Saurez on the bench but after the game was finished I realised it was a master stroke by KK and felt really confident and excited about the rest of the season. I then come on this website to gauge other fans reaction and I couldn't believe some of the stuff I was reading - Henderson, Kuyt and Carroll are rubbish, what is KK doing putting Suarez on the bench etc. I was really shocked, were these people watching the same game as me? I have now watched the game 2-more times just to make sure I hadn't dreamt what I previously saw and i still didn't see what these players have done that has offended so many people. I could count on the fingers of one hand the amount of times Henderson gave the ball away, Kuyt was his usual industrious self and Carroll worked his socks off and was unlucky not to score with their keeper pulling of a great save. I do feel Carroll is suffering from 'Crouch syndrome' where as soon as he touches a defender with his hand when going for a header he is always penalised.

This is our first victory at Arsenal for 11-years we had more possesion, more shots on goal and more corners than Arsenal, when was the last time an opposing team done this (not including Barcelona)? It doesn't matter that Arsenal had suspensions and injuries, we went there last year and had two teenagers at full-back and without our captain, this is a squad game. We should be ecstatic and thinking of how good this team could be when they have been given the chance to play together more regularly. And those saying Meireless should have started, let's not forget he came on with Arsenal down to 20-men and had been run ragged for the previous 70-minutes.

We now need to build on this victory, i think for the last few tears we have been capable of beating the likes of Man U, Arsenal and Chelsea but would then lose or draw to a lower placed team the next game.

gud site eds its hard work with all the speculation of dann and cahill,think we all know now tht either 1 will sign in near future. now the striker options dnt think sturridge is wot liverpool need right now, better options is doyle or hazard but with doyle been brithish and havin prem experience looks the more likely. come on the mighty reds top 4 this yr challange next yr up withking kenny Y.N.W.A

The is mention of us signing a backup striker, possibly,
crossing my fingers. which one cld it be if it was between Doyle and Rodallega. i am not sure which one you would be best. I believe Rodallega is underated and wld surprise every1 and be a great pair with suarez, but doyle is like a hernandez you can count on him for a goal when things get tough.Eds which one do you see us go for? Hypothetically speaking of course

and what happened to the Jarvis interest?

22 Aug 2011 11:23:32
Personally what i would do is sell our obvious deadweight problem, keep aquaman and meireles then focus on depth, id bring in cahill preferably and then enquire about Adebayor and Drogba. I dunno if the interest was true but we missed out on the perfect back up striker with Shane Long 2 games 2 goals and both against top teams he should be wearing red and now with Mata goin to Chelski we are running out of time

22 Aug 2011 11:21:34
I have heard that liverpool and arsenal were prepared to match chelseas offer for mata but the player intimated he wanted to go to chelsea for cl football and torres link up , my source is a ex-players business associate , so maybe we will do one more big deal , Possibly asian for marketing reasons

Morning Ed's

Firstly let me say how pleased i was with the performance on Saturday and more importantly that we actually had a threat coming off the bench

I suspect we will see more outgoings than incomings If any) between now and the end of the window, with the likes of Poluson, El Zhar, Degen, Aqualani and Cole going, if they do all go there I forsesee a late bid for a centre half, but dont be surprised and disappointed if we've seen all the incomings for this window.

KK and DC have bought well in the last two windows and our squad has improved dramatically since the days of TH & GG.

We are a work in progress and remember Rome wasn't built in a day

I'd be happy with Cahill OR Dann AND Doyle to finish this summer's spending.

22 Aug 2011 10:55:37
Would still rather have kuyt in the team ahead of henderson and carroll - agree?

22 Aug 2011 10:46:06
ed who is macca?? {Ed002's Note - He is a contributor to the site.}

22 Aug 2011 10:40:45
Massive rumour going around Liverpool that dirk kuyt in his next game plans to keep hold of the ball and also pass to a team mate

22 Aug 2011 10:39:54
ed real cant pay payments for ronaldo if a £80m bid is put in it will be accepted, cant we put a bid in {Ed002's Note - Almost certainly by lunchtime today.}

22 Aug 2011 10:25:16
Have to agree with an earlier post - great result on Saturday but carroll and henderson are definately not the answer. 55m could have been spent better.

22 Aug 2011 10:20:48
should of gone for shane long for backup,cheap,and gets on target too,would have slotted in nicely

22 Aug 2011 10:04:31
So what if we paid £35m for Carroll.
When we went in for him, Spurs had bid (can't remember if it was £30m or £34m), so we were always going to be quoted higher than that.

Chelsea wanted Torres, so we set the fee with them as whatever the cost of Carrol would be plus £15m on top.

If Carroll was £20m, then Torres would have cost Chelsea £35m.

We went from having Torres and Babel to having Carroll and Suarez for a nett outlay of £1m.

I much prefer the cuirrent strike options than what we used to have

Lay off Carroll (and all other players signed by KK) or feck off and go follow another team, becuase you definately aren't a Liverpool supporter.

The players we have bought this season have been bought for a reason - to build a team. Not 11 individuals, but a team Collectively they will perform better than would otherwise.

If you are a true LFC supporter, give them all time to settle in and gel and you will see what KK is putting together.

I think we should set up another page called 'have a whinge about a new signing', then all the numpties and non LFC supporter posts can be dumped there.

Proves we are a club that is frightening the opposition again when there us so much negativity regarding a 2-0 win at the emirates and 2 of Englands most promising talents. Keep the joke posts coming losers as LFC are back in the business of ruining your dreams. Every bitter must be devastated that KK is back, cleansing the media monkeys and keeping things in house. We have great owners too, sports people & business people and not a rich kids hobby.
So, carry on negatives as you don't understand our club, KK or the game and you make us real fans laugh.....

22 Aug 2011 09:54:37
hI ED, just wondering is it possible for Liverpool to take a couple of playes on loan from other teams, i.e centre back, back up striker?
mayoman {Ed002's Note - Possible but unlikely.}

22 Aug 2011 09:54:20
ed i wud love us to buy vertonghen or/and put a cheeky bid in for vermaelen, all the arsenal players seem to be leavin y not him

22 Aug 2011 09:42:33
Just a thought with lfc buying them two youngsters beuno(spelling i know ) and vajuenv(spelling again i know) will lfc actuall bother looking for another striker in the transfer market think they'll make 1 more signing and that will be CB my option is Cahill with ngog part of the deal hope so think hes the best of Dann and Shawcross

22 Aug 2011 09:42:23
aqua to milan imminent, el zhar gone, pacheco as gd as gone, degen n poulsen n ngog prb go, the greek is interesting a few teams so i think we shud sell him n bring in dann,cahill,rodallega/sturridge,borriello

sell raul and buy either kagawa,gotze,pjanic and then i would be happy

22 Aug 2011 09:36:40
ed ssn sayin borriello 4 sale from roma, do u think he cud be gud 4 bak-up.

he is cup-tied so many european clubs wouldn't go in for him. n after european clubs we r the next big thing. i think we all agree on dat n we all agree dat if ngog moves on and pcy goes to lille we need a bak up striker {Ed001's Note - I haven't seen a lot of him, but what I did see was not impressive or made him seem like an English Premier League-type player.}

22 Aug 2011 09:21:14
Ok so we got 3 points against a pretty woeful Arsenal, but is anybody else worried about the lack of pace in the side? It really was pedestrian at times.

22 Aug 2011 09:14:42
Who will Gerrard replace, if anyone, when fit? Just looking for opinions. I personally think Kenny might throw him on the right of midfield with Johnson right back, if fit, Kelly as back up.
We'd certainly have width both sides then.

Everyone is entitled to there opinion on our players like i am but whats with the constant slagging off andy Carroll it is getting boring he's 35 million and you could of bought so so for half that I think he is a good asset to our club and is getting better each game he's playing all I would say is who would you rather have in your team Suarez or torres and my answer Suarez all day long and twice on Sunday so we paid 20 odd million for both and sold him for a inflated 50 million we got one world class player and a good promising brougham player so get off his back, your not supposed to like all the players that's natural but still support them,I think shanks said and I may get this wrong but we are Red we are united so come on let's get behind all our men.

22 Aug 2011 08:23:25
Im very sorry but I have to say that kk has blown away 55 million on Carroll and Hendo. Great result on saturday though.

22 Aug 2011 08:11:36
Glad the Mata situation has been resolved. We now have two Spaniards to kick lumps out of at Chelsea this season

22 Aug 2011 07:23:12
Iknow it's only paper talk, but please tell me the swap deal between chavski and lfc for Meireles and Sturrige is not trueNot convinced about Henderson, but Meireles is quality and should be given better contract. Also if Sturrige was any good would chavski be willing to let go, especially when they've only got an ageing Drogba and a useless has been as strikers {Ed002's Note - There is nothing to it. They do have Anelka, Kalou anmd Lukaku as well though.}

22 Aug 2011 06:46:27
i am personally satistifed with the performance of the team in the past two matches, especially with henderson and adam, i know its early but not satisfactory, we really dont want to sell meireles. He really is the best creative midfielder that we have right now. what do you u say guys?

When people talk about our young players they always mention and praise Sterling, Coady, Suso, Ngoo, Wisdom, Sama, Adorjan, Silva; but one player who never get mentioned is "MATTHEW McGIVERON". I think he'll be a top top player. A solid central back.

22 Aug 2011 03:43:09
We could have bought him earlier for a cheaper price, but we went for Downing instead. What makes you think we'd want to get Mata now when his price has just gone up?

22 Aug 2011 03:18:31
I do find that we as supporters seem preoccupied with 'some crazy' transfer speculation and indeed wishful thinking. LFC like any other business has to invest wisely in viable resources (players) who will contribute to its growth and development over the long term. I would like to salute both King Kenny and DC on their excellent acquisitions thus far. Shankly's Red Army (South Africa).

22 Aug 2011 03:16:20
Gonazalo Higuain is unsettled at real madrid and should he be sold due to kareem benzemas upcoming Liverpool should tell andy carroll to f*** off and buy him

Hi eds,a lot of you/we/us/want cahill to sign hes a decent player but nothing special,I would prefer we stay with what we have inc kelly and go for a forward someone special the suarez type,yes they are few and far between but it would give us what we need to go for the the title ending up cheaper in the long run.

--------------Reina----------------
-Kelly---Carra---Agger---Jose-
--------------Lucas----------------
-Johnson------------Downing-
-------------Gerrard--------------
-----Suarez---------Carroll------

I believe that this is our strongest line up but, I think kenny wants Adam to start every week.Also Kuyt and Meireles is worthy of starting but theres too much to choose from..

Team we should play against exceter:

Doni
Flanno Skrtel Wisdom Enrique
Johnson Aqua/Meireles Spearing Sterling
Carroll Pacheco

Give a few promising youngsters a go, allow Carroll to maybe score a few against weaker opposition and if he's still hear give Aqua a run in a competetive game.

Liverpool may or may not sign defoe,depending on how much the player wants in wages and if we can get rid of ngog. Notice how if I get this right,I'm a credible source,however if I'm wrong,I've left it open Basically,I'm laughing at all the people on this site who like to think themselves 'credible' because they just pulled a random name out of a hat and it just happened to happen Its like going to see a psychic,he'll tell you everything you want to hear,with no factual basis,and you just lap it up I have to be honest,from what I've seen of macca I would have thought this applied,however after posting the benayoun rumor I have to conclude he's not just pulling names from internet pages,so if that comes off I will be the first to apologize personally(or through the eds) but the point remains the same,if you look too hard for something you might not find what you are looking for I'm not trying to offend anybody macca included,but how many marquee signings were we promised? By so called credible sources? Not everything you read is true WelshboyDave
