EDs ... or anyone else for that matter
Just wondering if anyone knows how Anne Williams got on today in Parliament? Today was the debate over her son Kevins death.

Also does anyone know much about this idea of holding posters up at Wembley. I have heard in many places that posters are available to take to boycott the Sun and get Justice shown on a national scale, but i dont quite know if this is an organised thing, or someone just saying it would be a good idea?
Any info would be very much appreciated :) Thanks!

Not sure as I was at work but what I understood was that she got support... MP's saying that the 3.15 was a conviniant (sp) cut off time but the attorney general is the only one who can send the case back to the high court - i.e. a new enquiry - and he wants to wait until the hilsborough report is published. Don't know what this means i.e. is it a stalling tactic by the gov or is it so there is pretty much undeinable evidence. Am willing to stand corrected but thats what I got from it all.

Anne went well today, every MP that spoke, spoke extremely well making it absolutely clear that a new inquest is required, the evidence they put forward today is undeniable. The debate lasted the full time it was allotted, an hour and a half and could have gone longer, in the end the Attorney General said and i quote "Minded to delay decision until after Hillsborough panel documents have been released and viewed by the families". "A new inquest can only take place if High Court quashes original inquest findings and, only I have the authority to request that the High Court looks at original inquest verdict" he also added "High Court can order new inquest if original inquest is found to be flawed procedurally or if new evidence has came to light" he then went on to say "If cut off time of 15:15 can be proved to be unreliable, it could form grounds for an application to High Court".

In summary, the Attorney has delayed his decision on whether or not to grant a new inquest. He is waiting for the Hillsborough panel documents to be released and viewed by all families effected by the tragedy. He made it clear that he doesnt wish for this to be a drawn out process and wishes to have a decision ASAP as families have already waited 23 years. He also highlighted the fact it is a very sensitive case.

On your second question the posters at Wembley on Sunday have been organised and printed by @HJC_official (Hillsborough Justice Campaign) (who are based opposite Anfield) and will be distributed on match day. They have printed 20,000 red "DON'T BUY THE SUN" A3 size posters and Cardiff fans have printed 5,000 blue "DON'T BUY THE SUN" A3 size posters.

I would like to add, on behalf of every LFC fan whether we are going on sunday or watching from home OUR sincere thank you to firstly the HILLSBOROUGH JUSTICE CAMPAIGN and secondly to CARDIFF CITY FC fans for there support on what will be a very emotional and moving show of support and need for justice for those who passed unnecessarily 23 years ago. Reds stick together lets show everyone that and remind The S*n they are still a piece of s**t.

CMON YOU REDS!!!

cheers

Thanks a lot for that mate, really good detailed reply, top bloke!

Didnt know that Cardiff had also printed off posters for their fans to, that is fantastic from them, really is. Just goes to show the support in the world of football for one another, credit to their club for that.

I have spent my morning printing off loads of posters to take down to Anfield with me on Sunday morning to put them on as many coaches as i can before i set off myself so that everyone on the coaches will have a poster before they even get there. Just hope this idea is taken in by everyone and it doesnt just become a few fans aware of this because on a national stage this could be a very loud protest!

Tommy Smith's medals and mementos were sold for £137k today.
Does anyone know if the club bought them or any of the lots, or did they all go privately ?
A lifetime's endeavour, sold for the weekly wage of a top Prem player these days. Sad.
The Real KB

Tommy has upset me by not backing Luis -

LEGENDARY Liverpool hard man Tommy Smith has slammed Luis Suarez for his stupidť refusal to shake Patrice Evra's hand.

Smith was angry that Suarez's snub rebounded on Liverpool by firing Manchester United up with Wayne Rooney hitting a double in the 2-1 triumph at Old Trafford.

And the Kop legend fully backed his old club for giving the Uruguayan hot-head a firm rap over the knuckles for letting Liverpool down.

Smith said: It was a stupid thing for Suarez to do. Regardless of what's gone on he should have shaken his hand.

It would have calmed the whole situation down. Instead he created a big controversy. What he needs to realise is that he's at a football club which prides itself on certain values and principles.

Suarez is a fantastic player but he deserved a rollicking for that and it was good to see the club criticise him.

By blanking Evra you could see how fired up United were and we were second best on the day.ť

Tommy Smith was bang on, what he said about Suarez.
The Real KB

Tommy Smith tells it as it is.

What Suarez did in telling Kenny he would shake evra's hand and then not do it was stupid.

Have to disagree with you over Tommy Smith KB mate. As stated he isn't skint, broke or anything like that. Some players are forced to do things like that,he wasn't. I'd also call working down and digging manhole's for thirty years no matter what theweather, getting piss rapped on a regular for 30 years then dropping dead at 50 like what happened to my old man is what you'd call a lifetime of endeavour. I'm sure miners etc would think the same. I wouldn't call the honour of playing for Liverpool that at all,in fact it'd be anything but. What do you think we had to do? Sell my old man's shovels for extra cash. Like I said if he was skint fair enough, but he wasn't and isn't.
Jonson

Fair point with you Jonson, can't argue there really.
But if you have a special talent, as he had, I don't begrudge the fella the money. Which, as I said, is peanuts compared to wages in the game today. For players not fit to lace his boots.
The Real KB

By the way, Jonson, I was looking for you last week but you weren't about. I had a spare ticket mate to the Brighton game. The missus went instead. If I get another, you interested ?
The Real KB

He must be skint, didnt he get his invalidity stopped a few yrs ago for a ceremonial kickoff at wembley for some match,

and some get from the benefits office spotted it and said if he is able to walk on the pitch and kick a ball he is fit for work?jimmybosun,

Alright KB,been busy all day,Ye mate,if you ever get a spare ticket mate I'd be all day for that. Very kind of you pal. Nice one for the thought about the Brighton game anyhow KB. Top man mate.
Jonson

Tommy Smith selling medals etc. to help out his family financially, who would not do that?

Tommy is not a rich man, an invalidity pension and some part time journalistic work harldy makes him bill gates!

But what a player tommy was always gave me goose bumps, apart from Gerrard and Carra on occasion can't say that about too many of the current squad.

I don't really watch championship football but how good is Matt Phillips?...better than Chamberlain possibly?

GuvTOB

Im an Arsenal fan so im going to say Chamberlain is better but Matt Phillips will be the next big thing. He has been told to turn down playing for Scotland because he will be a huge part of the England set up in the future..

Watch matt every week great payer still a bit raw but will be better than walcott in a couples of years. {Ed003's Note - He has chosen to play for Scotland,shows just how bad Pearce is! He has the ability to be as good as he wants,the only problem he needs to overcome is when defence's park the bus and he doesnt have the space to run into with his pace,his crossing has improved fantastically..the boy can be as good as he wants to be!!! }

Hi Ed,

We are the Eds saying that Glen Johnson will leave in the summer? Did he not sign a contract extension this summer? Also I think he is having his best season since he joined.

Pistol Pete

Pistol Pete has backfired and shot himself...
Extension will mean we get a better transfer fee and no... just no, he is having a terrible season.

Spurs will be in the bottom half next season when harry and all his cronies leave, you can look up at big, successful teams like liverpool then, as you are punching above your weight at the moment

Tom LFC Rule

We are not punching above our weight, we have better players and a better manager than you, simple as. On another note, can a responsible adult here keep Tom the closet THFC fan off our site? His posts are so dull its not even worth rising to the bait but he can't seem to stay away

He's defo a manc and not 1 of us reds.

Just watched Bellers little bit of video on the BBC website speaking about playing vs cardiff and what he would do if he scored.

Scuse the language but I f'ing love Bellers - he's matured into a really top bloke.

In the most sporting sense of the word good luck to Cardiff on Sunday but more importantly come on you reds - really excited about this final and really want us to win, it would be a brilliant start to Kenny's second coming.

Excited and its only thursday!

Joff

Totally agree mate just watched it myself and he`s defo not the same player we had first time round, really hope kenny plays him from the start on sunday, on another note im taking my lad who`s 7 yo to his first final so i`m more excited for him than about us getting there in the first place, can`t wait to see him buzzin when we win.

tommy c

7 years old, so the last trophy we won was bwt the time he was born. Hope we can win.

I can't believe how many of you are under the impression that Liverpool are debt free!

One things for sure you lot know your debt is mega and increasing by the day !

I believe the exact comments on this when the owners took over were that the acquistion debt had been paid off (this is the amount that was paid to RBS); the owners stated that there would be a small amout of debt to assist with working capital (day to day running of the club) etc..

So In short the new owners do have a small amount of debt however this is not the debt that was used to purchase the football club (AKA the american owners and some other teams....).

Hey ed's what's the chances of Kenny been moved aside at the end of the season after all the Suarez trouble and the way he handled it? If so is there any chance of rafa coming back as he seems to be just hanging about just in case? {Ed002's Note - I have no idea but whilst he his manager it is best not to speculate.}

Why? because rafa wanted to sign david silva?

Not a chance. Next question please ....

Hi eds i know Matt Phillips is of interest to Liverpool. I am just wandering if any of you eds have been scouting him? I have watched a couple of times and he looks different class at that level.

What attributes do you think he has and things he needs to improve?

Cheers
mighty reds {Ed001's Note - he is quick, very comfortable on the ball, both passing and moving and running with it, versatile (Holloway seems to play him in at least 5 different positions a match!) and can cross. Ed003 will gush about him for hours, which is why we try not to mention his name on the editor's widget.}

ed? why would we want to sell johnson and buy isla?
if we sell johnson we have kelly and flanagan. flano is you but look good in the few games he played just like robinson. kelly should be playing right back and johnson should be playing right wing if some people thinks he cannot play rb. johnosn is england #1 at right back. our defense is good why would we want to change things and we have potential great players coming up. now i see why this site is call football rumours. with all those bull s**t people right. {Ed019's Note - Johnson is on high wages that don't match his performances on the pitch}

And Isla is absolute quality, watch his goal for Chile against Spain.

how many minutes do the players have to play to be eligible for a winners medal come sunday evening
{Ed002's Note - None. THat is not how it works. There will be a medal for each member of the squad of 18 and five for the staff. If requested, the FA will normally provide more if there is justification.}

Who do u think will get the staff medals. King kenny, steve clarke, kevin keen. Maybe zaf iqbal for helping to get agger off the injury table and (hopefully) past his injury problems. Do you think commoli would get one?

22 Feb 2012 18:32:16
Two other players liverpool should but GEORGINIO WIJNALDUM, KEVIN STROOTMAN. Really good young players wijnaldum got bags of pace with skill and kevin strootman is a really intelligent player thats is an allrounder kinda left foot, right foot long distance short distance passing can tackle u name it he has alot of traits in his arsenal.

Whatever about Shaqiri watch Granit Xhaka tonight against Schweinsteiger, he is such a talent. He really bossed the middle against United getting in the scum's face and keeping it direct and simple with his passes. At 7 mill I think we should really make our interest be known if we have not already to Basel. Should be a great test of him tonight and I personally can't wait to scout him throughout the game!

had a fight with some chelsea fans that were claiming: David luiz is better then Agger, and cahill is better than Skrtel. i laughed so hard that i went in my own pants, and suddenly was chec better then reina, IT WAS ON!!

Same here these chelski fans just don't know how rubbish their team are.

I'd be amazed that the Chelsea fan could even find an argument that Luiz is a defender, let alone in Agger's class!

Richards

David luiz is the worst defender in the premiership!

Kev7

I love watching David Luis play.... It's the same as watching downhill skiing - you just know there's gonna be a mistake that costs him big any second! Even happier that he plays for chavski. Am hoping for a long and fruitful defence with Gary Cahill! Not sure which one looks worse. Nick.

liverpool should of paid the 20 mil for dries mertens instead of stuart downing stats say it all;

downing - prem app.25
goals.0
assists.0

mertens - ere app. 30
goals. 17
assists.16

achilles.

However the eredivise is nothing compared to the premier league!

Downing just has to get 18 goals and 17 assist in the next four games:)

I never said anything bwt the competitiveness of the two leagues, it was focused solely on stats mr anonymous.

ACHILLES.

Sorry dont get all angry. im just pointing out that the number of goals and assists could be due to the fact of poor opposition. Although I do acknowledge your point.

Downing - prem app.25
goals.0
assists.0

mertens - ere app. 30
goals. 17
assists.16

norris - 6 a side app. 50
goals. 45
assist. 30

This is fun.

45 goals in 50 matches? Playing 6 a side? That's crap man. The scores usually about 15 all after an hour & your not even getting a goal a game? What are you? A girl? Lol

to be honest i think liverpool need a defensive midlielder
winger
central attacking midfielder
2 strikers

I think 2 wingers and 1 striker and a right back if johnsen leaves
my wish list is
isla
holliet
de jong
m.phillps

For me
Affelay.
Lavezzi.
Canales.
Soldado.

Jonesred

A CAM would certainly stop the likes of Shelvey, Suso, Teixeira and many other top quality talents from coming up. I feel we need a winger and a striker. It'd be great if we can get 2 wingers. YNWA

A defensive midfielder? We have Lucas who will be fit next season

A top class RW and a young pacy CF will do for me.

Whilst 4th place would greatly improve the finances and help us attract players, on the other hand we are LFC a massive name in world football and as long as we are perceived as progressing and heading in the right direction we will still be able to attract enough quality players and sponsors to enable us to move on. Suarez being an example as are the Warrior and Standard Life sponsorships. Teams like Chelsea and Arsenal can only dream of these sponsorships. The Champions League undoubtedly gives massive exposure, but it is also very important to replenish our worldwide fan base. The best way of doing this is to win trophies. The league cup is a start and a launch pad as Gerard Houllier has just come out saying. Despite some of the doubters on hear KK is making good progress. Pass and move is definitely back and we are a pacey striker and a pacey right winger away from having a formidable squad. Kenny is doing it the LFC way. We needs patience whilst he puts all the personnel in place to enable his plans to comes to fruition. In the meantime if we can pick up some trophies along on the way what better signs could there be to show those who doubt that KK knows what he is doing. Reality Red

Our trip to Carrow Road to face Norwich City remains on Saturday, April 28, but now kicks-off at 5.30pm, live on ESPN.

just caught the second half of the liverpool vs everton reserves match and iv got to say im really impressed with them. Everton, for there reserve team they have a quite a bit of first team experience in there team and liverpool are still the better team. suso sterling and jack robinson are standing out more for me and eccleston has looked better playing on the left. Hi eds I'm not sure about this but i heard that if Chelsea don't make it to the quarter finals of the CL, the premier leagues co efficient ranking will be lowered and only 3 teams would be allowed to qualify for the CL from the league.. Is this true and if so, it would surely only come into effect from the 2012/13 season on wards?

Dan {Ed002's Note - It is not true.}

Google - "UEFA coefficient" and you'll find all the necessary info.

Premier League remains top of the co-efficient this year regardless of how both Arsenal and Chelsea do in quarters. However Italy are in danger of losing their place to Germany .... (from Fifa)

Heard a rumour that Chelski are lining up Rafa Benitez to try & guarantee 4th place & also get the best out of Torres.....
I wonder what Rafa could have achieved with us with our new owners.....??

Robkop

We're playing better football now than under Rafa, we're back to pass move basics, we're playing less defensive football and are better defensively. We've moved on from Rafa so should you.

He wouldn't have achieved anything due to his stubborn nature to not allow anyone like damien commoli have any control or influence over players' coming in and out the club. and despite what he brought in trophies to the club alot of people seem to forget that his inability to play any other formation other than 4-2-3-1 was his eventual downfall at lfc. in his last campaign opposition got wise forced us narrow and there was never a 'plan b'. subsequently his tenure was ended. he just looked like a man that had run out of ideas at the end and literally didn't seem to have any to take inter milan with him either....

Two words.... Zonal Defending

Have you forgotten the Squad he left us With!!

Lyndon

You such an ass! Clearly you don't have any clue w.r.t management whether it be a football team or a group of people within an organisation.

To the end of Rafa tenure there were all sorts of conflicts happenning with the club and the ripple effect filters down to the lowest form of management where the pain is felt most.

This is one of the most silliest comments made to date and there are plenty on this site.

It's easy to be derogatory towards figures in the past. Rafa is one of my favourite people in the game. He was a great manager for us. Yeah he made mistakes but he also got a lot of big decisions right. Legend.

Red Ollie

If kk lrft i nwould have rafa back straight away.
people forget what he had t put up with when tom and jerry owned us. rafa fought for liverpool against everyone who had a go.his heart and soul is in liverpool he even lives there now not in spain but most important we played some great football under rafa lets not be inflounced by the lying media
soul man

Rafa was fighting for our club big time he didnt leave us with that terrible team it was the previous owners now we are on the up again thanks to j w henry and co. we really were on our way out

Totally agree with the poster that said rafa was too defensive
Playing with 2 holding midfielders cost us games
His tactics (counter attack football) sometimes worked in one off games
But could never win a premiership
Just look at our team and squad in 2006 that beat Barca 2-1 at the nou camp and tell me that those players in their prime were not good enough to win the league

To the guy who asked the question before the winners of the carling cup get £100,000 and europa league football. The winners of the EPL get 20 million and a million less for every place lower until 4th place the 5th place team get a lot less.

Do the two teams get a share of the gate money for the CC Final I wonder, or does it all go in to Wembley's coffers ?
The Real KB

Some of the money made goes to lower league football which is a good thing.

If i was behind the wheel at Anfield, i'd be looking to raid the Eredivisie in the summer; Luuk de Jong, Luciano Narsingh, Ola John, Dusan Tadic and Dries Mertens are just a few of the young talents making big waves over there.

Suarez - Carroll
Downing - Lucas - Gerrard - *Luciano Narsingh*
Enrique - Agger - Skrtel - Johnson
Reina

*Luuk de Jong*
Bellamy - *Ola John*
Adam - Henderson
Spearing
Robinson - Coates - Carragher - Kelly
Gulacsi

With this squad i think we would be PL contenders, no doubt.

I agree about raiding the Dutch league, though not all the people you mention are feasible. I wonder how many people who clicked disagree have actually seen these players? In my opinion De Jong is an absolute must, a guy who is going to grow into a real world class player. Ola John is certainly better than Downing (not that that's saying much), Tadic looks exciting. I would love to see Narsingh joining but have heard he is looking forward to playing for Marco van Basten who will take over at his club next year, so don't get your hopes up. As for Mertens, I thought he'd agreed to join some German team. -SH-

Eds.....what are the chances of us signing Pontus Wernbloom and Ricky van Wolfswinkel?
Not sure if they're any good, just like the names.
Wolfswinkel and Wernbloom ....sounds like a Saville Row tailors.
On a lighter note, has any decision been made on a new date for the Everton game?
ANFIELDPETE

Lets sign players whose name we like

That sounds like a sure fire way to get success

Actually that's probably what Kenny did last summer

He could not pronounce foreign names so he bought home grown or foreign players who were known at home

If that is so expect Hamish McTaggart this summer plays for queen of the south

After our Arsenal BPL Fixture we play:

Newcastle
Norwich
West Brom
Sunderland
QPR
Wigan
Aston Villa
Blackburn
Fulham
Norwich
Swansea
Chelsea
Everton

These are a few great games for us. Seeing as though we experience a few bumps along the road, I am confident we will get around 29/39 points atleast from the following. That would bring our total to around 68, which would surely be enough for a top 4 finish. :)

I think we can collect more than 29 points because away we tend to win rather than draw and if we win on sunday confidence will be sky high , where do you see drop points out of those games if you dont mind .cheers psv

Seen some portsmouth fans disappointed over his possible sale to us. So, may be, i'm guessing that he is good enough. YNWA

At least the banter with the mancs is good for a laugh! The Chelski lot....Well well well, are far to serious, its our fault we sold them FT/RM dear oh dear.

KNEE JERK

Yip, FT and RM represent £60million of absolute rubbish.
Heavens the two of them are really soo bad!.

Just had a look on their page....
You lads gave them some stick!
LOL

Phooey

They will come good thay just lack confidence like Hendo & Carroll, Ha Ha

I'd prefer to have henderson and carroll than torres and meireles to be honest like.

To poster no.1

hi, i'm poster no.2. just reread my reply, sorry bro. didn't mean to dampen any enthusiasm. you want the same thing i do(apart from 12 pints in a 90 minute interval). the great liverpool to regain the title of number 1 team in the land. honestly, think we're 2 players off at least challenging_ the teams around us are getting worse, whereas we've all seen some signs of improving as a team over the lst few weeks. we need a right winger, we have done for some years now. another thing for teams to think about apart from the marauding from our left flank. (everyone has focused on downings poor return but players close in on him and it frees enrique to be probably our player of the year so far(apart from maybe the monster that is skrtl)but every player's form relies on every other player's form in the structure of the team). kuyt is better as the deeper lying central attacker, to play in the middle, who when playing centrally with similarly quick minded players, is an actual bonus to our team rather than a solution to a problem set by our previous owners who, when asked by rafa to buy him a table lamp bought him a remote controlled car. (btw did anyone other than me at one point see kuyt's future in central attacking midfield, it was a turn he did reminded me of dalglish, yes, i am that old. i am 40 years old and remember the days when we carried all before us, yet my love for lfc is undiminshed) . anyway, i'm rambling, this isn't a song of ice and fire(game of thrones, read it if you haven't already), the other player we need is, weirdly, david silva(if we'd bought the table lamp rafa wanted he'd already be in our team) . we've looked for him for years, benni, cole, garcia... we need that hub in the attacking 3rd of the oppo's half, we've almost got it in suarez but we need him just a bit further forward, honing that most especial special of all football relationships with carroll. anyway, love liverpool, love people that love liverpool. my other half supports united but i love her too. she is magic. love you all(still not drinking 12 pints in 90 minutes but if i could, i would). love you poster no. 1

I thought Ska went out with the in-gines

12 pints in 90 minutes!
That's the problem with British
at the olympics
they don't organise the right competitions
for us win any gold medals
100 meters Britian 0 metals
downing the most beer in 90 mins
Britain, Gold, Silver and Bronze.

If you think the Brits can drink more than the Irish you are highly delusional! Were re-known worldwide!

Irish red

Never known a brit who could drink more than me.

dublad

Were you pissed when you tried to spell renowned?

Do you get through 12 pints during a game
Irish Red? I have to say I don't get close to that even with a couple of warm up beers before kickoff.

Dont forget, the beer across the water tends to be weaker than what we have here in Ireland

Dublad

Better Beer in Liverpool than in Dublin,
give me a pint of real bitter any day to
to that black stuff.

Who gives a rat apse who can drink more only an person or someone with intellectual deficiencies wants to have that title.

The reason that you've never known a Brit that could drink more than you is that you collapse while they're still drinking!

Agents Torres and Meireles have made contact, all is well and going to plan. Next objective opo 5th in the league.

His armband says he was a red Torres Torres.. But now he's a blue Fernando Torres Liverpools undercover number 9.

KNEE JERK

Have a look at the Chelsea banter page for a good laugh. They are hammering AVB - I've not seen so much negative vitriol since redturk and indianbuzzer found out we had signed Andy Carroll

I have been mate the Chelski ladies are abit upset at the minute, prawn sandwiches been thrown all over the place.

Cosinoz you just cant forget about me can you? i don't feel so comfortable knowing you have me in your mind. anyway i still dont rate andy carroll no matter how many goals he scores against league 1 or championship sides, the point is he can't do it against the top teams. 6 goals in 40 games is absolutely abysmal. can't till the summer when hopefully we buy a quality striker to partner suarez.RedTurk

I used to post often on this site, nowadays it's more of a pop in and have a read approach. Anytime I ask myself why i don't frequent the site as much I just read posts like those from RedTurk. Embarrassing to Liverpool, the most negative piles of gobbledegook constantly spewing forth over the interwebs.
