Ed1 just for fun.
When we sign a player you'll express your opinion on wether it will work and be good for the club. For example the likes of benteke been lazy and not a good fit. All the while I'm sure you get behind him and hope to be proved wrong. So I was just wondering have you ever been proved wrong?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - many many times. Benayoun is one that stands out in my mind as a player I misjudged. He was much better than I realised. It is a lot easier to see more of the players now though, whereas back then I was judging players purely on having seen them at Anfield and MOTD. Nowadays I make sure to watch a number of full matches of a player before I make a judgement.}

23 Feb 2017 01:29:04
Most pro's are good it's all circumstantial. YB was great but.

23 Feb 2017 01:30:53
Oops sorry late night drunk apologies.

23 Feb 2017 11:23:35
A lot of people are slating Can, I think he'll turn good.

23 Feb 2017 12:07:19
Drunk on a Wednesday? Lucky you. My Mrs Would cut them off?

23 Feb 2017 13:24:58
Ed001, Matip can be another case? I think I remember you saying when he was signed that he was one for the squad but not a fixed starter.

{Ed001's Note - I said I never saw him play. He was one I didn't know anything about so gave no real judgement, just guessed mate. So no, can't count him as I never knew anything about him and said that. }

22 Feb 2017 14:25:58
Question for Ed01.
Which players in the U-23s or academy are considered the strongest prospects we should look out for next season and beyond?

Thanks.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - Jordan Williams, Juanma, Bobby Adekanye, Paulo Alves, Madger Gomes, Toni Gomes, Brooks Lennon and Yan Dhanda on a quick glimpse at the squad. Though it changes very quickly at that age and most of the standouts have already had chances this season. I have omitted those from the list, as I am assuming you already know about Wilson, Woodburn et al.}

22 Feb 2017 15:45:24
Ed is Williams seen as a midfield prospect or a centre back?

Always preferred him in a holding midfield role myself. His ability on the ball is wasted in defence.

{Ed001's Note - I was told he is seen as a midfielder. Personally I agree with you, I would not be surprised if he threatened Stewart's place in the first team squad by the end of this season. So long as he stays fit.}

22 Feb 2017 16:17:31
What about Wilson ed001? I always liked him although i have not been able to watch much of the academy recently.

{Ed001's Note - did you not read what I put mate? Wilson has got a look in with the first team so no point mentioning him.}

22 Feb 2017 18:23:04
Cheers Ed, wow had no idea he was progressing that well! I saw he was playing well but if he can start knocking on the door for the first team then great.

Reason why i like him in a holding role is he can play it like Hendo does. He is good in the tackle and reads the game well, but he has a sublime passing range. Stewart is more of an all out destroyer when he plays the holding role, (he is probably slightly better running on the ball than Hendo or Williams though) as his lack of passing range makes us slower to switch play. That is the key difference for me; Stewart will put in a crunching tackle then carry it forward, whilst Williams and Hendo will slow the attackers down and show them into less dangerous areas, then use their passing range to spring a counter attack when we win it back as a team. Stewarts style looks awesome but it is risky as missing the tackle can either take you out the game, or get you booked.

Both good players in their own right, but Williams could offer genuine like for like cover/ conpetition for Henderson.

I really would love Stewart to get a chance at left back if Williams does take his place. Stewart primarily came through the system playing on the flanks; either full back or wide midfielder. He could potentially solve our left back issue if he has no future here as a centre mid! If not, i would rather have Stewart as our utility player than James Milner.

I honestly thought Williams was out of sight out of mind after his loans in recent years. Great to hear this Ed, thanks!

{Ed001's Note - he was always very highly rated, it was injuries that held him back. Beale certainly liked him a lot when he was at the club.}

22 Feb 2017 19:47:10
In a similar way, Ed001, do you see any of our 12 loanees being brought back in with a view of being given a shot at the first team for next year? Or do you expect most to be moved on? (sorry if it's been asked already) . Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - most will leave mate. Though the likes of Ward should stay, it is up to them to prove themselves ready for a step up.}

22 Feb 2017 20:13:12
Thanks Ed001.

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate.}

22 Feb 2017 20:38:28
Academy products are like throwing skittles on a table. A few might stay up but the rest will scatter around.

But just because there not at liverpool doesn't mean they qont forge greay careers.

Just don't follow them in my opinion because you will just send yourself crazy. Sit back and wait to see who comes through.

You could literally watch the youth all over and each and every week there will be a stand out perfromance and you will want them to be giving a shot.

Its just lunacy to think we could produce 7/ 8 players from all the age groups consitently year on year for the first team.

22 Feb 2017 21:58:13
Conor masterson got a name check off klopp last week is he any good eds.

{Ed001's Note - I have not seen much of him to be honest. I was just mentioning the names I had heard spoken about by opposing coaches and our coaches. It does tend to end up forward-heavy, as they are the players that get noticed, and Masterson is a defensive player.}

23 Feb 2017 03:18:17
Yan Dhanda has really impressed me this year - invariably stands out in the academy matches and if he keeps working hard (and stays injury free), I reckon he will make a career out of footy.

23 Feb 2017 11:28:54
More then half of em won't make it.

23 Feb 2017 11:45:21
What do you reckon of Jack Dunns chances?

Hi Eds,

this is my first post here, and I really appreciate your work.

I'd like to ask, how financially sound is the club right now, after latest departures? Is FFP going to be an issue in the next season?

Also, how much money could Klopp be given next summer, not including the player sales, do you think?

Thanks in advance.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Hi Kamil - going forward the club has the additional income from TV rights which puts it on to a much better footing and will allow the club to look to pay off debts rather than have the owners write debt off (which is the same as them giving more money to the cub). The club will again be supportive of Klopp but I would not expect a fixed sum to be given to him for transfers - everything will be on a case-by-case basis.}

22 Feb 2017 09:46:42
Cheers, thanks for the reply.

22 Feb 2017 12:50:29
Good post Kamil and thanks ed002.

22 Feb 2017 19:25:27
Thanks for the response, Ed. Good to know that slowly but surely, the club is growing.

23 Feb 2017 00:10:34
Does that mean Ed002, a bid for messi isn't out of the question?

Lol.

{Ed002's Note - It is an interesting point oddly enough.}

23 Feb 2017 03:26:25
Well we do have a French international BPD who probably would be ok with going to Barcelona and considering they need a replacement for Mascherano maybe a straight swap for Messi wouldn't be out of the question?

23 Feb 2017 01:44:18
Ed, there's no way you can say that in here without mass hysteria breaking out! One of your dry, don't be ridiculous responses would have been best.

23 Feb 2017 09:51:04
Ed002 is never predictable 😉.

23 Feb 2017 11:24:32
I personally don't think they overly supported any manager! Kenny received the torres money Rogers received the suarez money Klopp used the Sterling/ benteke money, I think it's misleading to say they've been supportive! That's my opinion anyway.

23 Feb 2017 11:27:37
If we get champions league football the squad will have to increase in numbers.
I know we had injuries this year but even with just domestic football to deal with we looked stretchEd.

I read up to 6 players would be needed.
That's some investment.

23 Feb 2017 11:58:12
There is a limit on squad size. If players come in the some players will have to be left out of the squad.
We need more quality, not more numbers.

23 Feb 2017 12:00:42
I know where your coming from but a daft old fool like me wishes the club would get back to operating at a sustainable level sooner rather than later.

23 Feb 2017 20:45:49
Waro, your post makes little sense. The club got money for transfers and it got ploughed back into the club for investment on new players, something every club or business should be doing. What do you expect them to have done? Keep the money and use their own personal credit cards to fund the transfers? I know you don't like the owners and we get it BUT at least, post stuff that makes sense. Oh n BTW, Klopp did not use the Sterling money. That would be BR as Klopp came in middle of last season.

24 Feb 2017 18:30:10
I'd say the club rarely gets the money for a transfer in one lump.
I'd say it's paid yearly in installments depending how long the player signed for

I'm sure that eds done something on it before about balance sheets for the club for each season money in and money out and then wages.

28 Feb 2017 14:51:24
The only way we can be sustainable is to have 1 or 2 stepping up from the u23 and maybe 1 top drawer transfer signing each season.

The problem is that there is such a gulf in difference between the 2 levels.

The only way the u23 can get up to speed is by playing first team football.

I don't think loans are the answer either as in most cases the loanees always have in their heads that they have the parent club to fall back on.

They need to play in a competitive environment where their futures at a top club are at stake.

That separates the best from the rest.

22 Feb 2017 07:36:58
Because Ed I thought you always said (which I very much agree with) that we should be buying players to go straight into the first team.

Otherwise they're just squad fillers, which is what we've been doing for years instead of utilising youth.

Not trying to start an argument, just trying to understand how you think we should be building the squad as I think I've misunderstood.

Cheers.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - you have lost me. What exactly are you referring to? I have always said players should only be bought if they are deemed good enough to improve the first XI, but the rest has lost me totally!}

22 Feb 2017 09:16:39
Sorry ed, tech skills lacking this morning. This was in response to TopoftheKops post at 22.36 last night.

{Ed001's Note - I am sorry, I can't see that from the edit page mate.}

22 Feb 2017 03:25:16
That julian brandt, jonothan tah and kampl of leverkusen look some players for being so young.

Hope the interest in brandt is true.

22 Feb 2017 19:27:11
It is mate and judging by reports, Brandt is a top priority as Klopp reportedly wanted him in Jan and has said he needed another wide player. I really hope we get him as I've seen a lot of him and frankly, he is special.

23 Feb 2017 11:10:38
Maybe you haven't seen Rachid Ghezzal (Lyon) yet.

23 Feb 2017 12:49:36
Can't see the big deal about Brandt. He dribbles a lot but his final ball is not good enough for the premier league.

24 Feb 2017 02:12:57
We said the same thing about Mane before he came to us yet see what happened.

24 Feb 2017 12:10:13
I liked Mane as a player before he came to us but I was worried about his attitude.
It's been spot on so far 👍.

21 Feb 2017 22:36:08
HI EDS
If mario gotze does make the move to Liverpool in your opinion who is most likely to be put aside for him, surely he is being bought to be a first team player.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - why does he have to be a first team player?}

22 Feb 2017 07:41:51
I'm sorry but is it just me who thinks gotze is very overrated? Haven't seen loads of his games but the ones I have he's been bang average. but klopp nows the player I suppose so we must trust his judgment. Now if we were interested in rues I'd be one happy man going in to next season .

22 Feb 2017 09:56:01
He won't want to come and sit on the bench will he ed?

{Ed001's Note - maybe not, but I don't see any way of getting him in the team.}

22 Feb 2017 10:09:04
Ozil part 2.

22 Feb 2017 10:21:20
Hi Ed,

Are we definitely back in for Götze again?

Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - not that I know of.}

22 Feb 2017 10:34:09
I just can't see any deal being done for him if he is to sit on the bench and wait for a injured lallana or coutinho?

22 Feb 2017 13:52:34
We do not need another attacking midfielder. haven't we learnt our lesson from afcon?

22 Feb 2017 14:17:07
Eds I presumed with all the talks of him that something had been said that we are again looking at him lol. The whole conversation is a waste then now youve put it to bed lol.

{Ed001's Note - not that I know of. He is just out of favour and looking to leave, Klopp knows him well, so stories come out adding 2 and 2 together. It is pure guesswork as usual.}

22 Feb 2017 14:55:20
Ok mate fair enough. I prefer Brandt tbh over him. Do you? All thoigh Real are interested I see now.

{Ed001's Note - no idea not seen enough of Brandt to judge him.}

22 Feb 2017 19:34:54
Nothing but recycled nonsense and making 2 and 2 equal 4, by the media as Ed said regarding MG. As for Brandt, I can tell you Ed that he is some player tho young, but is exactly what we need. He is fast, can play either side of the pitch, can shoot and score with either foot and a menace with his stellar dribbling ability. Saw him a lot at the Olympics where he and Max Meyer were really good.

23 Feb 2017 10:39:14
Goetze coming to us would only happen if either Firmino or Coutinho left.

23 Feb 2017 11:24:54
Over rated, we're trying to get rid of one fool we don't need another. He won't be coming, Klopps not that daft, surely.

23 Feb 2017 11:58:15
Would Gotze improve the first team options? On his last year's performances you'd have to say no. Maybe less an injury risk than Sturridge but hardly the same quality.

21 Feb 2017 22:59:47
Hello Eds. What do you think of "In the Know" acounts such as Agent Edward and Indykalia? They claim to be incredibly well connected but am very skeptical myself. Would much rather trust this site! Cheers.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are talking about, sorry.}

22 Feb 2017 00:19:26
Tsteen, indykaila is a parody account and agent Edward speaks for itself. Both accounts feed off clickbaits. They are not itk's. Just trust the Eds who regularly give info.

22 Feb 2017 00:19:53
You serious mate? Indykaila talks complete rubbish, he used to be one of the hacks that peddled the Reus>Liverpool nonsense.

22 Feb 2017 03:27:20
after many years of following the site, and also looking at (in the past) many journalists and others on twitter (indykaila included), i can safely tell you i've seen no other person or site as reliable as this one.

23 Feb 2017 00:12:31
Yeah I did make the point that I trust the Eds more than anything.

{Ed002's Note - Do you have a sister?}
