Mohamed Salah has not been pictured leaning on anything - I'm not convinced the move has gone thru yet.

Much Love,

Imagine if we could follow up Salah with Koulibaly and Ghoulam (Swap for Moreno) Unreal before the window even opens.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

22 Jun 2017 21:20:02
Vvd is the target I'm sure, seeing as he's told them he wants to leave we surely wouldn't turn our back on him.

22 Jun 2017 21:23:15
We're going into swap Moreno for both Koulibaly and Ghoulam? In what world?

22 Jun 2017 21:39:07
Not seen much of Napoli but one of the back (right/ left) not exactly sure made very good impression.

Think it is Ghoulam as MU were also interested at some stage little while back.

Will be happy it Moreno is exchanged for this guy.

Not seen Koulibaly at all. so no comments

Cheers.

22 Jun 2017 21:08:56
Attacking side looks sorted, hope sturridge stays.
Id like to see sturridge start in games we should be winning still, with a firmino coutinho in behind. We have good rotation too, with lallana can wijnaldum all pushing for the place next to hendo for me. Kind of feel like I'd rather sign another winger than another cm though, so we can rotate mane and Salah a bit without losing one out wide - I really prefer coutinho cm.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

22 Jun 2017 21:13:49
Yeah, I'd definitely take another winger, any chance we could sign martins too?

22 Jun 2017 21:23:39
Ojo, Ejaria for cover.

22 Jun 2017 21:49:51
I don't see the need for another winger now. We have cover in Ojo, Milner and Llanna that can play on the wing. We need to sort the LB position firstly replacing Moreno.

Baz.

22 Jun 2017 22:08:49
Steph-Take it you have never seen Ejara play?

22 Jun 2017 22:37:39
Ojo must be thinking about his options with Salah coming through. will the young boys play FA and league Cup.

22 Jun 2017 22:46:39
I think ox is the player klopp has identified as that extra bit of more senior cover for the wings. And he can play attacking mid too. Someone like that is likely to be our last signing though as it's more important to get cb and lb sorted. Ojo, Woodburn and then cout, lallana, origi and Bobby can play as the wider attackers if rotation really needed.

22 Jun 2017 23:30:43
Ojo going out on loan to Newcastle.

23 Jun 2017 05:27:57
I think Salah is enough for our attacking options this summer. CB, LB and RB needs to get sorted first.
Spurs showing serious interest in Periera, hope we hijack that deal coz I think he is quality and an upgrade on Walker.

22 Jun 2017 21:07:43
Welcome to the best club in the world Mo. YNWA!

22 Jun 2017 21:06:39
Reds and Eds, I hesitate to talk about prices usually but who is the club record now: Carroll or Salah? (I have read that possibly its still Carroll by a whisker)

Believable1 Unbelievable0

22 Jun 2017 21:59:10
Sky stated £30m rising to £34.3m so Carroll still - not saying those figures are correct though.

23 Jun 2017 03:36:27
Sky says it's mane after add on which can reach 36mil.

23 Jun 2017 06:16:01
I may be utterly wrong here but I'm sure firmino is close to or even is our record signing but it never gets mentioned. Ed2 am I wrong?

{Ed002's Note - The fee lodged on the TMS was €41M with potential add ons totally nearly €9M.}

23 Jun 2017 06:39:11
Cheers ed.

22 Jun 2017 21:02:52
Bobby's number 9 then.?

Believable5 Unbelievable1

22 Jun 2017 21:08:23
Lets hope he's not on the way out!

22 Jun 2017 21:25:02
Don't think so. Think he's just swapped numbers. Like that Bobby is our number 9 now. he deserves it. 😎.

23 Jun 2017 08:19:47
My mum was recently in Liverpool and got me the new strip with Firmino 11 on it. It's now wrong and they haven't even kicked a ball yet! Ah well could be worse.

23 Jun 2017 08:42:57
Zap they may change it like they did with sakho last season.

22 Jun 2017 20:45:53
It's official he's wearing 11.
Welcome Salah. Finally 😂
Y. N. W. A.

Believable8 Unbelievable0

22 Jun 2017 20:53:22
Hurrah! Welcome Mohammed Salah!

22 Jun 2017 20:54:25
Think Salah will turn out to be an excellent signing.

YNWA.

22 Jun 2017 21:03:29
Strange how we sign mane who has been excellent for the same fee and everyone was torn, and people are so happy with salah who arguably has more to prove than mane.
Hope he hits the ground running!

22 Jun 2017 21:07:47
Me too Fencey, but if he takes a while to bed in we need to be supportive.

22 Jun 2017 21:09:47
Class signing now get vvd and left back.

22 Jun 2017 21:25:11
Welcome to Anfield Mohamed Salah. YNWA.

Wasnt Firmino no.11? I wonder if he wanted a new number is that why Salah got? What will Firmino's new number be?

22 Jun 2017 21:35:44
Wasn't happy with Mane signing last term but he proved a lot of us wrong in the way of returns.

Little different this time with Salah. Like the look of his game and hope he justifies with good returns.

Welcome to Liverpool.

Cheers.

22 Jun 2017 22:43:52
He's not a novice to Prem which is good.

22 Jun 2017 20:07:25
Can see firmino easily getting 20 goals in the league this season. He's getting better every year. If coutinho can stay fit, combined with mane and salah. We're going to score for fun all year.

Believable14 Unbelievable2

22 Jun 2017 20:21:12
Hope so because he will be wearing #9 this year.

22 Jun 2017 20:44:58
20 league goals is a bit much I think. there's a possibility 20 goals all competitions.
I think we will be right up there for most goals next season.

22 Jun 2017 20:46:03
Nope, though a very good presser, he doesn't have the eye for goals as a top class striker.

The issue is we will never see two strikers under Klopp as mostly prefers Firminio style players than true out and out strikers.

That is what we have seen till now.

Cheers.

22 Jun 2017 21:16:08
Apart from when we played the Diamond formation at end of season Sami.

22 Jun 2017 22:54:04
The way we play lends to any of or attackers scoring. It's likely the goals will be spread out now we have so many players capable of hitting the net. Firmino is not that selfish type of striker heso a player equally capable of scoring wonder goals or tapping across to a teammate when he has a simple goal on himself.

22 Jun 2017 19:56:28
Hi Eds

With all the left backs we have been linked with which their is a lot have ye any idea which 1 is our number 1 target? I know ed001 you say Klopp has the klopps for Robertson so would I be right in saying that it is him or someone else such as Mendy or Tierney or is their others I have left out?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I never said that about Robertson, I said he is a possibility. Mendy was first choice, Tierney is not looking for a move so is almost certainly out. We have looked at a few, including Ghoulam. Mendy is the one we would prefer.}

22 Jun 2017 20:09:19
Functional and competent would do for me at left back. Signing the flavour of the month might not work. A left footed Steve Finnan if there is such thing?

22 Jun 2017 20:17:22
Cheers ed001 for your reply my bad sorry it was actually ed002 who said that about Robertson my apologies.

{Ed001's Note - no worries, it does sound like something he would say.}

22 Jun 2017 21:10:25
Steve finnan was one of the best crossers of the ball.

22 Jun 2017 21:29:01
When was last time we had a quality left back? Riise had a hell of a shot and our best we have had lately but even he was a bit suspect defensively.
Right back, in premier league era, Rob Jones, Babble, Finnan all quality, so I'm not sure why it should be that LB is such a problem position for us for so long.

22 Jun 2017 21:59:27
When fit Fabio Aurelio was quality.

22 Jun 2017 21:39:07
Is there still any chance of Mendy or have we backed off (if we ever were in for him) Ed001? I think you mentioned it was more likely he'd end up at City.

{Ed001's Note - he was too expensive so we backed away.}

22 Jun 2017 19:53:35
No idea if the rumours are true but if Ben Gibson is available for less than £20mill he has to be just as good a buy as Van Dijk if not better.

Believable2 Unbelievable9

22 Jun 2017 20:04:41
Apart from the fact he's nowhere near as good in the air, or on the ball, or in the tackle, or as physically imposing, or as quick, then yes. Why not chuck £20m at a very mediocre player who isn't an improvement on any player currently at the club. Personally I'd rather give Gomez a chance than waste good money on Gibson as Gomez is a better footballer.

22 Jun 2017 20:14:51
What on earth has Gomez done to show he is better?

Gibson was a shining light in a very poor Boro team. He is calm on the ball, he reads the game very well and he is a very intelligent footballer. Exactly what we need, a level head, unlikely to make mistakes.

Gibson will be an excellent CB for years to come.

I'm not saying Van Dijk won't but he'll also cost 3x as much.

22 Jun 2017 20:52:43
Not sure we watched the same player. Gibson was in a team that sat back and defended all the time and let's be honest, Boro were awful and there were no shining lights in that team, the idea that he reads the game well is a bit of a fallacy, given that he was never really in a situation that required much more than getting bodies behind the ball, he also lost a lot headers for a centre back and really isn't great in the air (given our record on conceding from crosses, that isn't good), in the two games against us he was pulled out position, didn't win headers, didn't make tackles, was quite slow and looked anything but a good centre back. Gomez is taller, physically more imposing, better in the air, quicker and actually a very good footballer. He's been unlucky with some rotten injuries and I'd much rather give him the chance than throw money at a player who is a mid table player at best.

22 Jun 2017 20:57:27
Red dawn I agree I think Gibson could do well with us. Let's hope we get some good additions and push on from our 4th position.

22 Jun 2017 21:47:19
Agree to disagree then I think.

I thought Gibson was excellent all season and the fact that he has had to fight against the claims of nepotism due to who his uncle is shows he has the mental strength to succeed as well.

That being said I do rate Gomez as well and would love him to be considered ahead of Klavan for this season.

22 Jun 2017 21:53:45
We need a centre back who is quick, strong and dominant in the air. Gibson doesn't posses any of these properties.

22 Jun 2017 19:51:38
Ox could possibly flourish under Klopp. He has talent that has yet to be fulfilled. To say he's average is abit wide of the mark. It's amazing what confidence can do for a player. Ibe went for 15m remember guys.

Believable5 Unbelievable7

22 Jun 2017 20:06:50
Ox has shown nothing to prove he's anything other than a very average winger. His output is poor at best and he's injured a lot. As for being a centre midfielder, watch the humpings that Bayern dished out to Arsenal and his last two England performances.

22 Jun 2017 20:10:24
He's average and not needed IMO . What position is he playing and regressing? Why is it that every and ANY player we're linked to or klopp likes they're deemed good enough just because?
Ox and Robertson are both potential signings and both would be really poor purchases. It's always telling when you hope we miss out on certain players.
If we only signed two players this window. Salah looks like one and a quality left back I'd be happy. Even though I think we definitely need a top drawer midfielder aswell. Can't see us signing that calibre of midfielder. Less is more especially if we're signing real improvements on what we currently have.

22 Jun 2017 20:23:32
I see Ox as a wide player. I don't think we do need him but I don't think he's a bang average player. He has shown glimpses of his talent. If he can be more consistent then he would be a great option. He quite clearly is a confidence player in which we have the best manager for such players. If we are interested then maybe that's what Klopp sees.

23 Jun 2017 07:38:33
Or has been average for the last for years, however I think he kicked on pretty well last year and was one of the few Arsenal players that gave his all every game alongside Sanchez. If he can continue like he did last year he'd be a very useful player to have. I think injuries stifled him a little so he needs to stay injury free t make that step.

22 Jun 2017 19:12:36
If Salah, Oxlade-Chamberlain (I think it'll happen), left back (any of tierney, mendy or ghoulam who I think we should look at) and a CB (say Van Dijk) would people class that as a successful window for us? Because I would! Although some people will want a 20+ goal a season striker, I don't think that's necessary right now nor would we have to funds available to buy one. There could be a shout for another winger and I wouldn't be against signing 2 wingers this window! Maybe Pulisic (not sure if we still hold interest) as he's young and imo is better than our current youngsters so I'd maybe like to see us go for him. Thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable6

22 Jun 2017 19:17:43
Klopp fell out with perisic at Bvb . Think we are fine on the wingers if we get and will get salah.

22 Jun 2017 19:19:25
I think Oxlade Chamberlain would be a waste of money, as he's a very average winger and is absolutely ineffective in centre midfield, jack of all trades and master of none he doesn't have the intelligence or the skillset to be a centre midfielder and never will.

22 Jun 2017 19:45:11
Spending anything over £6m on Ox would be a waste, would tarnish the window as he is rubbish and will stop someone getting game time.

Otherwise that would be a good window, on one condition. If Sturridge cannot regain fitness then Jan window we do go for a 20+ goal striker.

Must must buy a top level LB otherwise it's another wasted window and massive lack of ambition.

22 Jun 2017 19:50:33
Salah and Solanke is a good start, don't get me wrong. But we need to sign Keita, VVD and a decent left back to make it a great one. Of course if somehow Auba could be snuck in then that would be an amazing window.

22 Jun 2017 20:06:22
Can't see kieta signing personally. As much as I want it to happen I don't see how he fits in the team without a couple of midfielders leaving. I'd happily lose Lucas, Stewart and potentially a grujic loan (if that's possible with work permit etc) to see kieta wearing our famous red jersey.

22 Jun 2017 20:38:47
£6 million? Laughable figure for a player of his age and Premier league experience.

22 Jun 2017 15:29:02
Just for old times' sake - any interest in Klaas-Jan Huntelaar this time round eds?

Believable14 Unbelievable1

22 Jun 2017 15:35:20
Well he certainly fits our style. Unreal pace etc. :D.

22 Jun 2017 16:35:03
He's signed for Ajax weeks ago.

22 Jun 2017 15:18:59
Does anyone know if Klopp rates Juanma? From what I've heard and seen he looks good. I know the youth coaches rate him and that he had a bad injury not long ago, but he could be the answer for left back or at least league cup games.

Juanma and Alexander - Arnold to me look great prospects for our future.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

22 Jun 2017 15:20:52
Ed001 has said the coaches now see him as a CB.

22 Jun 2017 15:26:03
Has he trained at Melwood with the first team yet?

22 Jun 2017 16:53:42
He's battling with injuries at the moment.

22 Jun 2017 15:08:25
Ed01 you mentioned Ghoulam as a possible target a while back. I know its rare but with Napoli being interested in Moreno and after rejecting their bid do you think a swap deal could be an option?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - doubtful.}

22 Jun 2017 13:53:02
Is bonucci being eyed as a possible option if VVD doesn't work out? Seems a much better centre half, brilliant on the ball and I believe he's made more succeful long ball passes than any other player in the Serie A.

Believable1 Unbelievable5

22 Jun 2017 14:57:01
I'd personally fly a private jet over to Italy to pick him up and bring him to Liverpool if we somehow miraculously convince Juve to let him go and Bonucci to join us, but there's no way in hell we are ever going to manage to sign him.

22 Jun 2017 14:57:32
He's also about 95 and still £60m worth.

22 Jun 2017 16:54:42
And will struggle in a high defensive line as he has very little pace.

22 Jun 2017 13:27:59
Afternoon all, Ed001 I've just been reading the posts and read your reply about VVD letting Southampton know he wants out. Can I just ask if that's is a written or verbal transfer request or is it just the fact he said he would be willing to join Liverpool?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I believe it is all verbal so far, I don't think he has handed in a written transfer request. He may need to do so to get the move to happen.}

22 Jun 2017 13:39:23
Thanks again Ed much appreciated as always.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

22 Jun 2017 14:10:31
HI eds
Did VVD say this recently or was it 2 weeks ago when news broke about the tapping

Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - this is a recent thing. Initially he only said about wanting to go to Liverpool rather than he just wants out.}

22 Jun 2017 14:32:11
Ok thanks Eds
Looks like Southampton will have to sell him then even if it's not to us. No one wants an unhappy player at there club.

{Ed001's Note - they did not sell Fonte last summer after he asked for a transfer. Many clubs have held on to unhappy players.}

22 Jun 2017 14:51:11
Coz he has pretty much asked for a transfer ed, does that means he wavers his 5% of money from any potential deal? Or am I wrong on that?

{Ed001's Note - that would be a written transfer request.}

22 Jun 2017 15:23:39
I suppose the buying club would pick up that bill as well to help the deal. Added onto the sighing on fee?

22 Jun 2017 15:53:27
If a player hands in a written transfer request, does the home club still have the option to deny any attempts to sign the player and hang onto him (assuming they want to? ) . just trying to figure out if it means anything other than confirming they definitely want to go and they are prepared to forego any signing on fee?

Thanks Ed.

{Ed001's Note - the club can still reject offers.}

22 Jun 2017 17:00:21
Ed is right and Saints are notorious for keeping their players against their will. Just ask Fonte, Schneiderlein, Wanyama and a certain Sadio Mane who were kept for one more season regardless of submitting transfer requests. They were actually allowed to leave the season after tho, which may eventually be what happens with VVD.

22 Jun 2017 12:39:29
Eds, I know this was just asked but I wanted to further the discussion with the understanding that most of this cannot be answered.

1. What are doctors looking for in a medical? Obviously things like Hendersons persistent heal injury would be difficult to detect or predict. But are they looking for signs of weakness or previous injury in muscles/ joints most critical to the game? Or are they looking for more serious issues like heart/ lung problems that could cause a player to drop at any second (as seems to happen, sadly, once a year)

2. Assuming something is found. Can this be used in negotiations for a lower price or do teams generally walk away.

3. As a follow-up to 2. Does a failed medical reduce asking price going forward

4. Can teams introduce negative performance bonuses? In other words, teams today often agree to pay the selling club more if a player/ team achieves certain goals. Could they (hypothetically) do the same in reverse and if a player is injured for a certain number of games the price is reduced?

5. Does the medical include fitness/ performance tests to see what the player is capable of (I know there are scouts that watch the player but it's possible they have more potential or are currently struggling with fitness)

I know a lot of this is probably unanswerable, but I just wanted to throw this out there since the whole medical process seems mysterious.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - the medical will be very thorough ohio and all that plus more will be investigated including mental well being, if there are any serious problems found then that will result in the termination of any agreement..

22 Jun 2017 13:05:17
lets hope they have either sacked or use a new psychiatrist that saw suarez then :)

22 Jun 2017 14:38:08
Can we think of any players that have failed their medicals?
ive only got remy off the top of my head.

22 Jun 2017 17:02:33
Frank Worthington.

22 Jun 2017 17:05:08
Ah I'd hope he is still there or we would of missed out on Luis. Cause he has definite head problems.

22 Jun 2017 20:04:47
Didn't Aly Cissokho famously (or infamously rather) fail a medical on a proposed move, to I want to say Milan, because of his teeth?

Something about potential back problems was the last reason I heard for it.

Still ridiculous for such a one man army.

{Ed001's Note - George Boyd failed a medical at Forest because of his eyesight Forest said.}

22 Jun 2017 11:49:40
Hi eds, with Salah undergoing a medical I was wondering if you knew what kind of things players have to do during the medical, and what kind of tests are done?
Cheers

Ksbhogal.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - we are not doctors mate..only psychiatrists.. :)

22 Jun 2017 12:10:14
So where's the psychiatric facility and how can I get admitted there? 😂.

{Ed001's Note - you are well beyond help mate.}

22 Jun 2017 12:14:36
Reckon we'll all need therapy before the Summer's over!

22 Jun 2017 12:30:22
I reckon the poor Eds will need their own psychiatric assistance by the time this window is coming to an end. I predict nights interrupted by waking up in shivers from repeated question nightmares to begin with.

{Ed025's Note - thats everyday for us reynard..

22 Jun 2017 12:57:40
Can Imagine the facility patients going mad shaking in their chairs whispering "But they said it was a done deal" Haha.

22 Jun 2017 09:26:45
Hi Ed's

Is Leverkusen's Wendell an option at LB?

Thanks, have a nice day.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - nothing on him at this stage mate..

22 Jun 2017 09:01:14
I just happened to be reading about our 2 fine young goalkeepers this morning and noticed it is Danny Ward's birthday today. Happy Birthday Danny! I then noticed that it is Loris Karius' birthday today also. Happy Birthday Loris! Were they really both born on the same day? That's just bonkers. I wonder which came out first and why that day was so good for producing future Liverpool goalies. Two fine young keepers exactly the same age, plus Migs. I really think we're looking very fine in that department. Grabara, Caoimhin Kelleher and Shamal George are all promising. I guess just Shay Given to replace Mannignger might make sense. Even though he wasn't born on June 22nd.

Believable12 Unbelievable0

22 Jun 2017 09:07:40
I know it's hard to believe but yes, some people are born on the same day.

22 Jun 2017 09:10:54
And its migs mums bday today aswel lol.

22 Jun 2017 09:15:45
Is that a sarcastic response RedMan? Sure some people are born on the same day around the world, but when do you ever meet them? Let alone play as a goalkeeper for the same professional football club.

{Ed001's Note - if you meet more than a couple of hundred people in your life, which most people do in the first couple of years of their life, let alone by the time they hit their 20s, then it is almost certain that at least some will share a birthday with you. If there are more than 365 people working at the same workplace as you, there is every chance of someone else sharing your bday.}

22 Jun 2017 09:48:53
It's my sons birthday! Is that an omen for the future? He has the goalkeeper kit for his birthday too! 😀.

22 Jun 2017 09:50:21
Not just the same birthday from any year in the last ninety, but the exact same day in 1993 when four big hands came into the world simultaneously and the world became a safer place. :)

22 Jun 2017 09:54:48
I share my birthday with Liverpool legend, Nigel Clough.

22 Jun 2017 10:00:12
There's some crazy stat which I can't get my head round, where if you are in a room with I think 23 people, the chances are over 50% that someone will share a birthday with someone else in the room!

22 Jun 2017 10:28:51
My parents share the same birthday and my Grandad shared it with them also. I was supposed to be born on that day as well but being the little bugger that I am was 2 weeks late!

22 Jun 2017 10:31:44
It was sarcasm Jurgen Meister, just banter though of course mate.

22 Jun 2017 10:47:34
I was born in one county and moved county when I was about 11. When I moved to my new school 2 other lads in my class were born on the same day as me with the same first name.

22 Jun 2017 10:52:12
100% correct fencey. If there are 22 other people in the same room as you, it is more than likely that one will have the same birthday as you. It is to do with reducing probability. A bit of a head mess, but is correct.

22 Jun 2017 11:03:02
I share my birthday with Bruce Grobbelaar. Hows THAT for a crazy coincidence. Just nuts.

22 Jun 2017 11:32:51
Nick, I don't think it's the same birthday as you, just same birthday as someone else!

Too much time on your hands lads

22 Jun 2017 11:53:34
I found out that I had the same birthday as my friend during a classroom exercise and we were both like woah, duuuuuude then we started jumping and everything.

{Ed025's Note - love it welsh..

22 Jun 2017 12:51:48
Haha, I make no apologies, I now love this thread.
But yeah, close season sucks, thank dog for the Confed Cup!
And I do have a friend who was born the day before me. But he hates me because I look ten years younger than him.

22 Jun 2017 16:53:12
Guys, I share my birthday with me mam. so what? You ask. Well, it's on April 1St. yep, 2 fools. Talking about fools. Has moreno gone yet?

22 Jun 2017 19:41:39
Again correct Fencey, my bad. Wasn't thinking when I wrote that.

22 Jun 2017 07:28:40
I must say, Salah's medical is taking days. It's almost at the verge of breaking the Higuain medical to Arsenal record.

What are you talking about? He only arrived on Merseyside today.

22 Jun 2017 04:50:07
Ed do you think ejaria will feature more this season?

Believable3 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

22 Jun 2017 04:56:49
I was hoping he would, thanks for the reply.

{Ed001's Note - welcome. He would have figured more this season gone but for injuries. Though that might change, if the right loan move is offered, I do not expect it to.}

22 Jun 2017 05:30:59
Thanks Ed - any thoughts as to how he's perceived relative to Grujic - a bit behind in development/ years or as competition?

{Ed001's Note - different players mate, Grujic is seen as a more physical attacking midfielder, Ejaria is a creator for a deeper role. However yes, Grujic is on the verges of being ready, Ejaria is still a couple of years away, at least, from being first team ready for long runs in the team.}

22 Jun 2017 10:11:20
Ed1 do you think that Klopp will adopt the same attitude to the League and FA cup that Rafa used to have? (Basically just using it for backup players and youth) .

Other than that I'm not really sure how the younger players will get a game.

{Ed001's Note - it will be a mixed team I expect.}

22 Jun 2017 10:26:21
Thanksgiving for the reply mate.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

I've been told on here before what a great guy John Aldridge is, and I don't doubt it. I have though made a few comments over the years concerning statements that seem so obvious I don't know why anyone bothers reporting them, such as "we need a top drawer goal scorer" etc.
Now though, it seems he's advising VVD to go on strike to force a Liverpool move. If there's any chance of this deal progressing, surely John is not helping matters in regard to our relations with Southampton?

I agree with you, BB, but unfortunately we can't stop people spouting (just look at these boards! ) . Unfortunately some people who spout are famous and papers pick up on what they say.

What is without doubt is that Aldo is passionate about our club. I just wish he'd keep his trap shut now and again!

22 Jun 2017 02:29:00
Truth of the matter is some footballers are just not intelligent enough to think before they pontificate.

22 Jun 2017 02:38:14
No taps. No big traps.

22 Jun 2017 04:18:22
Yeah, fair enough I suppose, just can't help but roll my eyes. That said, who the bloody hell am I?

22 Jun 2017 07:04:21
Vvd has already stuck in a transfer request anyway . Shouldn't be long till we see the vvd lean.

22 Jun 2017 08:16:08
Source for VVD's transfer request?

22 Jun 2017 08:33:45
Heard similar reports of VVD going down this path. Either way it leaves us in a bad position following the tapping up situation. We will either be forced to pay an astronomical amount or be seen to leave him languishing at he club he doesn't want to remain at. Whilst I doubt it will happen, I think we should pay whatever Southampton want for him, even if it our entire summer budget and learn a harsh lesson that could have easily been avoidable through applying a little proffessionalism.

22 Jun 2017 10:02:47
I honestly think that this has all been worked out beforehand between the player and the 2 clubs.

As Southampton are in talks regarding a takeover and possible change of ownership things have to be seen to be done correctly.

When the news broke and the s%@t hit the fan, they went into damsge limitation mode, us ending interest and the SAINTS the injured party to placate the fans and the authorities, as it may have scuppered any further takeover talks.

Anyway I hope we sign him as it is one of the weakspots in our team.

22 Jun 2017 14:41:56
I would love to know what Aldo's take on the precious sterling and Suarez saga's were. What's good for the goose is good for the gander and I very much doubt he suggested either of them should go on strike, in fact I suspect he was fuming with the both of them.

22 Jun 2017 15:04:27
Isn't Aldridge an employee of the club? If he is, it's absolutely f***ing stupid that he said that, Southampton's feelings towards Liverpool are already bad enough.
