I'll get slated for this but since Kuyt signed what have we won? We should be starting home games against the lesser teams with Luis, AC & Bells up front. Fed up of this mediocrity........

Preston Wool

I agree.

BOOM.

I have never liked Kuyt. Too slow for england and poor touch.

Just returned from tonight's match and have to report that there are a lot of unhappy fans around Anfield at the moment. Over the last two games we have managed to accrue 2 points out of a possible 6 and a groundswell of feeling is that the problem is on the sideline. There were several glaring tactical mistakes last week when United threw on all their forwards. These same deficiencies were again evident this evening. We have a plan A and that is it.

Last week when Utd put on Hernandez we refused to counteract this by playing Agger in a sweeper role. Tonight we needed a goal and Agger came on for Kuyt. The tactics are baffling. Kuyt was poor again tonight and yet Bellamy was taken off. Downing (whom I am a fan of) was allowed to stay on a lot longer than his play warranted. Maxi would have been a better addition to the team and yet sat on the bench. I am disappointed to say that we played a lot better last year.

I know that we are trying to bed in several new players but we seem to be directionless, especially at home. At no stage this season have we played two comparable halves of football. We either play well in the first OR the second half, but both. I genuinely believe, and I stated it at the time, that Paco Ayesteran would have been a far better addition to the staff than Kevin Keen. He was the real tactical genius of the 2005 Euro campaign and was appreciated by all of the players.

If tonight proved anything it's that we desperately need a genuine goalscorer and that Dirk Kuyt has run his race. All is not as rosy as we all hoped at the start of the season, especially in the organisation of our defence. I only hope that we can somehow string a series of results together and move a lot closeer to the top of the table.

No more Kuyt or Carra please.

For the money we spent on Carroll we need to give him a run alongside Suarez, wtf is the story its not as if the results we have been getting are great. As is we are heading nowhere fast so just do it and see what happens. Also Carra needs to hang up the boots, I was watching today and so pissed off with drawing with Poxy Norwich city, that I started thinking maybe if Carra gave away a penalty was sent off 3 match ban it might not be so bad. Building for the future? Get rid of Carra ( great servant bla d bla and all that). Charlie Adam .................. of all the signings so poor, he's like a robbie keane or joe cole, pretenders that can play decent in poor sides and then get found out.

I agree with most of this but not with the last bit about Charlie Adam, our problems are clearly at either end of the pitch, Suarez for all his skill, ability to make chances and willingness to work is a poor finisher, 11 atempts today and no goals, a better finisher would have about 10 goals this season with all the chances Luis has had. Don't get me wrong I think the kid is a great player but I just think a great performance by the team today would have ended in a win if he was a little better in front of goal. I think instead of looking at our midfield in a critical way we should look at the back and the front, Reina, Enrique and Johnson all should have done better for the goal conceded and our attack let us down, none of this in my oppinion was in any way related to Charlie Adam who I thought had a pretty decesnt game, I think Gerrard gave the ball away more times than he did but no one is saying anything about that, we have droped 6 points from a winning position at home so far this season mostly caused by defensive frailties and an inability to kill teams off which in my oppinion boils down to mistakes or lack of preperation in the management team.

One thing I have noticed from the games this season (Norwich included), is that we can't seem to finish games off.

We generally have a very good first half, and have many many good chances, yet we can hardly convert any.

In the second half, we seem to fade away and the opposition generally score. We tend to lose concentration, and we don't get what we deserve.

We need to work on converting our chances, then hold on to what we have!

Thanks, James.

Disagree. Norwich came to defend, then went a goal down then attacked. If Holt was on from the start Norwich would have won. We can't defend, play too deep and if teams attack us they will score. Fergie in his infinite wisdom missed a trick last week. Could have hammered us if he wasn't so defensive from the start.

22 Oct 2011 23:16:12
hey eds do ye think liverpool will finish 4th this season yes or no {Ed002's Note - Nothing has changed in my opinion - Liverpool will be in the mix for a Champions League place. It is one game drawn and there will be others, move on.}

4th place this season, NO CHANCE

22 Oct 2011 23:15:32
I don't know about you, but IMO Suarez was giving Torred-esque body language from before he left last year today. Performances like that will only disuade Sow, A.Johnson, Hazard, Higuain, Kanagwa and Cahill to move to us.

Mate get a grip , the only reason suarez was looking pissed off was because he was gettin treated like a t**t by the ref, maybe he did make the most of some of the challenges, maybe he did on occasion back into the norwhich defenders but what striker in this or any league dosent?, the ref let fergies comments cloud his judgement today which for me shows the pull that club has over premiere league refs, so yeah suarez like any pro will go down when he feels a touch but there was times today when he was blatantly shoved of the ball and im not looking for excuses for the draw cos we shouldve put away are chances but are man suarez got a hard time from the ref today, looking forward to next week when hopefully we can right the wrongs of todays game and maybe kill it of in the first half, im not gonna say lets change this or that about the team cos honestly does anyone on here know better than KK?, i think not , im just gonna support my beloved team like i do week in week out whatever the result. Aint it funny how ferguson says about saurez diving and this week saurez gets nothing from the ref.

Ferguson knows what he's doing when he comes out with this c**p and the refs fall for it

But suarez does dive... its merely under the spotlight.

I know that we have only played nine games but it is already obvious that we are going to struggle to gain a Champions League place. To be honest, that doesn't bother me but failing to qualify for Europe again would. I think that what is important is getting the team to gel and we can only do this by keeping the same starting eleven every match. My eleven would be Reina,Kelly,Skrtel,Agger,Enrique,Gerrard,Adam, Lucas,Downing,Carroll,Suarez with substitutes from Robinson,Flanaghan,Coates,Coady,Henderson,Bellamy, Sterling,Spearing,Suso and Morgan. I haven't named a substitute goalkeeper as I think that it is an unnecessary luxury. We can no longer rely on Carragher,Kuyt,or Johnson. Having said all this I believe that before long a Premier League goalkeeper is going to be suffering with a bad back after picking the ball out of the net many times. All that we need is the luck that Suarez deserves and he will get a bagful.
Dutchmal

That would be my starting team. 4-3-3. Bellamy for Downing if he doesn't come to the party.

well where do i start, got slated on here last week for saying downing was a waste of money well how opinions have changed.he is getting worse by the week.how daglish decided to take bellamy off instead of kuyt and downing is beyond me.is he watching the same game as the rest of us.then to bring agger on with a few minutes to go and us chasing a goal.liverpool will never win anything with these group of players.they are to predictable and slow.i really feel for suarez playing with these loosers although his finishing was dire today, torres would have got two hat-tricks today with the chances suarez had.steven gerrard was crap[as much as i hate to say it]pepe reina also seems to be having lapses in concentration during games.glen johnson really who told this guy he could defend.this squad needs a major overhaul and i dont think daglish is the man that should be doing the over-hauling.bring back rafa a.s.a.p.100 million spent on more mediocre players.us fans need something to shout about.when will this stop

Kenny will sadly be gone the end of the season in my opinion. I personally don't think we've had a good performance all season (and by good I mean looking in control of a game,) apart from the Bolton game. We just don't look convincing. I'm not sure having Rafa back is the answer but can you imagine if he had spent £35 million on a young spanish striker who had performed like that following a semi decent half season in Spain? He would be lynched.

Forget Carroll and kuyt as strikers there records are hardly prolific are they. We desperatly need another top drawer striker to play alongside Suarez. It's the same as when we had Torres on his own up front. All top four teams have at least two top drawer strikers

Shrek berbatov Hernandez

Torres drogba anelka sturridge

Aguero tevez balloteli dzeko

Defoe Adebayo

Suarez

It's clear we have improved as a overall team but are still miles behind our rivals when it comes to goal scorers
+2 goals after 9 games does not lie...

22 Oct 2011 22:25:38
For a REALISTIC choice of a natural goalscorer in January Jermaine Defoe anybody?

Chris in Tamworth

Micheal Owen...... :|, Personally i think Suarez will get plenty of goals just think hes lacking confidence in 1-on-1 situations. I'd agree thta Defoe would have been a good signing but don't think Harry would let him go.

Jatt YNWA

Defoe's not great in one on ones, he's good from the edge of the box though. We need someone like Hernandez more - I say sign Van Wolfswinkel

Why would defoe take a step backwards?

De Jong in Jan. Summer too late.

We really missed lucas today.i would like fo know why we played johnson just cannot defend.why take off downing and bellamy two of the better players and leave kuyt on.all those crosses coming in needed carroll.i love kenny but some of his decision making is poor.we need players with pace and trickery.utd have nani, young, valencia we have bellamy and downing says it all really.fed up of seeing suarez fall over put more effort into scoring instead of falling.same with adam.gerrard looked rusty aswell.im cheesed off to the max.but to be fair well played norwich.paul lambert possible future boss?DORSET RED

22 Oct 2011 22:13:42
Just a couple of things confused me today.....

The first change bringing Bellamy off?

Carroll coming on and Downing going off?

Bringing Agger on so late?

Was Kelly injured? Because I can't justify dropping the lad.

I only listened on City today which is hard work to be honest but we seemed to create a shed load again and couldn't kill the game. This isn't a new problen for us. The Wigans, Hull Citys Sunderlands all seem to have our number.

What is also worrying is that we can't keep clean sheets anymore. We are giving points away so cheaply. Away at Stoke. The last 2 home games should have all been wins. We create but the lack of a clinical finish is really costing us.

Spriggo

Kuyt should have been pulled off by his goldie locks, shocking. If Coates is any good we need to get him in alongside Agger. Carra legend but should be used as 3rd CB. Skertl is playing like he has skates on,he slipped about 20 times tonight as he did for the Man U goal. We really do need a few more good heads in Jan

I dont think you can blame the defenders for norwich goal, they scored from a very decent header, Pepe might have done better, but he cant get everything, he did a blinding save straight after.
The worrying part is that they went through our midfield as if it did nt exist, I hope people start appreciating Lucas value.
As for the front, I've been saying it again and again we need to learn how to finish, over 20 attempts I think more than 10 were on target and only 1 goal to show for it.

22 Oct 2011 22:07:46
Well that was a bit brutal wasn't it. Another game where we repeat the same bad habits and frustratingly we don't require a major overhaul just more concentration, application and possibly a change in personnel.

1. Finishing - if we had been a little bit more clinical in front of goal we could have an extra 10 points. Its fast becoming our standard performance, start brightly, waste chances, dominate possession, fade in 2nd half and then create chances in last 10 mins (but not take them).

2. Lucas - sometimes you don't know you miss something till its gone. We shouldn't really be looking to a DM at home to Norwich but i think he would have stopped Norwich in the 2nd half.

3. Defence - there is definitley something wrong with our back 5 - too deep, too many times lose concentration. Maybe it is Carragher that makes us drop deep - maybe not - poss Agger and Skrtel are better duo. We really need to sharpen up the whole defensive unit.

4. Carroll - poss didnt deserve to start after his performance at Rangers but it is worrying that we don't seem to be able to intergrate him into first team. I still believe but it is a concern now.

5. On this type of performance we will miss out on Top 4. You cant draw 3 of your first 5 home games and expect to qualify - there is too much quality in EPL and you can't have average results.

6. Credit where credit's due - Norwich are a decent side and can trouble teams, and their keeper played v well.

So we really have some tough questions to answer regarding our defence, and how to improve our finishing. Still believe in the manager and the players and that we will improve but we have to discover how to defend again and be more clinical if we are to go forward.

D 2308

Right let look at this sensibly, Norwich are not a good side, we could and should have put 6 past them in the first half, r finishing is too slapdash, We rely on luis too much, where as he is a "get 10 chances and stick 2 of them away" type of player. Kuyt works hard but should not be in the side now, Carroll needs a run of games. Sorry to say it but i think Jamie has come to the end of his automatic status in the side. It needs to be Agger and Skyrtel at the back now.

22 Oct 2011 22:03:39
Well that is 4 points dropped in two games-Suarez needs a Rush, Aldridge or Fowler to play alongside him.
Kuyt had a bad game today- his decisions in crucial areas were selfish and I do not understand why Carroll did not start.
I commented that the average summer purchases would not give us Champions league next season- Downing looks worse by the week, Henderson cannot get a game and Adam who was lethal last year is not even taking free kicks from just outside the box.
We definitely need to add in January if we are to get a top 4 berth. if anyone cannot see that they need to go to Specsavers.

Couldn't agree more suarez is like andy cole he needs about 10 chances before he scores. Kuyt just has to be dropped he was shocking today and against Man u. Ilove Liverpool as much as anyone on here but I reckon we will be fighting for th place because we just can't finish teams off.

22 Oct 2011 21:49:46
So disappointed with the result today, yes we created the chances but we need to get goals, our finishing is so bad, we should've won by at leat 4 goals...
Dalglish's team selection was ok but i would've started Carroll instead of Kuyt or Suarez up front on his own with Gerrard just in behind.
He waited too long to make the changes and then made a total mess of the changes!! He took Downing and Bellamy off and put Andy Carroll on!! For me that didn't make sense, Downing probably didn't have his greatest game but he got the ball in the box nearly every time and would've given Andy the ammunition to score the goals we desperately needed.
I dont know how Kuyt stayed on the pitch for so long, he was so bad today, offside nearly anytime he tried to get in behind and gave the ball away too much.
Reina didn't have much to do today but messed up big time for the goal, if your gonna come off your line to claim the ball then you have to get something on it.
Suarez... Unbelievable player, makes chances out of nowhere but his finishing is shocking (13 strikes on goal), and his constant moaning is starting to piss me off.
If we cant beat teams that have only been promoted into the Premier League then we may aswell forget about Europe again for another season...

All i can say is if we dont get the players in in January to get us goals we're gonna be in trouble come the end of the season... In the 9 games i've seen so far, i'm not optimistic about this season at all.

22 Oct 2011 21:40:45
4pts dropped in 2 weeks, reallity check 4th if extremely lucky, doubt if scum, city spurs or arsenal will allow norwich a point at home

22 Oct 2011 21:26:45
Here's my two cents for whatever it's worth... for me, Kuyt has not really added much to our gameplay these past few games, I do think his legs are going a bit, he's too easily caught up with by defenders. I think Bellamy should get the nod ahead of Kuyt, playing in his relatively free role with Downing sticking to the left flank- I really think he's wasted on the right. I think the time has come to get Suarez and Carroll playing with each other week in, week out. I think the past few appearances, Carroll has shown glimpses that he is correcting some of the problems he's had with us (mostly positional IMO). I'd like to see Coates get more game time too, see if he can develop into the top CB we clearly are in need of atm. As for CM, perhaps it's time to give Adam a break, maybe stick to Gerrard and Lucas, or recall Henderson in some capacity. I think the players are there in the sqaud to start getting us firing on all cylinders and shored up at the back, it's just a case of pulling it together. It's still only a handful of games, we'll get there I'm sure. YNWA

DP

Disagree re: Adam. Need a 3 man CM and control games. Adam, Lucas, Stevie (Hendo) for me. Carra out. Kuyt def out.

22 Oct 2011 21:21:05
I think most posters are going a wee bit OTT. We didnt play poorly at all. We created 29 chances! Thats a chance practically every 3 minutes. The obvious issue is that we only scored 1, but you just cant legislate for a defender getting a toe to the ball to deflect it onto the post, or Carroll heading past the post when it was easier to score, or the keeper making a wonderful save from Suarez at the end. I always hear top players saying that they didnt mind so much missing opportunities to score but not getting the opportunities in the first place. In reality Liverpool mainly ran Norwich ragged. If you look at the Sunderland, Stoke and the Norwich game we have created enough chances to win 10 games never mind 3. Im frustrated, not angry! I can see that we are playing a more adventurous style of football which in the main is good to watch. I can also see, that as a game goes on, especially against lesser teams that we maybe run out of ideas and become a little bit nervous when we dont have a couple of goals cushion.

The Irish Rover

Irish, do you think the likes of united and co would need 29 chances to score one.
We need 35m spent on a finisher (I am not blaming him) our build up play is good but for all the possession and shots you take, the only thing that count is how many goals you score, if we are a top 4 team then we need to have 3 points at home against anyone and particularly those outside of the top 6.
The most worrying thing for me is Suarez getting injured, you know out of the 29 chances you mentioned 23 were Suarez.
Roy

22 Oct 2011 21:17:19
Watching the game today the main problem we have is lack of mobility in midfield. Gerrard and Adam should not play in the middle together as both like to go forward then struggle to track back. The space Norwich players had in midfield at times and the amount of second balls won by them was unbelievable. Perhaps playing 4-2-3-1 with Hendo alongside Adam as the 2 would have given more mobility.

Suarez? Brilliant, gifted player but please stop the moaning and get on with your football. Perhaps some finishing practice wouldn't go amiss too ;-)

Shopping list for January....new CB....new RW....new ST.

Defence to deep, hence cm too much space to cover and they not the most mobile as it is...

Everyone should remeber the words of the song "you'll never walk alone" and SUPPORT this team.It seems like many of you aren't the so called best fans in the World...sad days!!

Marty

Its easy to say that when you're sitting in your living room wearing your replica shirt shouting at a tv but that goes out the window if you're on £200 a week and you've just spent half of it taking your kid the match to watch us draw at home to f**kin Norwich ! We support the team Marty but we don't accept the performance

Just drove home and had 606 on Radio Five Live.
Lol, what a load of sh*** some of those Liverpool callers come out with. Embarrassing.
If ever there's a reason not to call / post in anger right after the match, that is it.
By the way, well played Norwich.

I read somewhere that, after a disappointing result, Shankley used to go home an scrub out his back kitchen.
Can I suggest we all don the rubber gloves and start scrubbing. Start in the morning. You'll feel better then. By Monday we'll all be ready for some rational discussion.

Overall today i thought it was a brilliant performance and am really happy with the amount of chances we are creating. It wont be too long to we are winning by three and four goals.

KK has assembled a really good squad and we will soon be in the top four if we play like we have done this season.

Only criticism is maybe that we need to be more deadly in front of goal.

Lets please win at stoke. Tough game but if we play like tonight then surely our look will change in front of goal.

suarez better than torres i dont tink so depressed again today how i wish he still played for us suarez is such a bad finisher kyut played today like he had 2 left legs and still fans on this site still slate man utd they are the champs and we cant beat norwich at home we sell merilles who is flying at chelsea give aqua man away on loan again and still paying his wages ah well hes flying to at ac milan and we have the most deluded fans in the premier ship who would rather have players like spearing instead of meriles in lfc squad no creativity wat so ever this is not good enough......

Agree with u mate. Us liverpool fans r obsessed with our history n former glories plus all that nonsense abt having players with passion, hard work,........ but no talent. EX: Carrol, charlie 'the frog' adam, downing etc.
Why cant we just let go of the past n look to the future? If we had the option of burning all our previous trophies to get number 19, i wud gladly do it. Its time to go for higuain, ozil, mata...
These players command high wages, but win u trophies, not the overhyped n crap british players.

It's not about the one goal let in it's the lack of goals scored

Suarez looks frustrated with poor support
Can't hide he falls down too much and needs support

Do you mean a support Striker or crutches to hold him up?

I would offer some crutches to the manc strike force, but Rooney might get turned on......

Like other posters have said before, I'd like to see a good poacher to partner Suarez, exactly like Fowler or Rush. We're really lacking that at the mo.

I thought we were getting somewhere with Suarez & Carroll, then the team changes. Gerrard comes back and we look average. Please don't let the team start to play well when Gerrard does otherwise we will be in the same boat until he retires.
Not blaming him at all, he's a legend and world class but I'm getting so pi$$ed off with no other team member stepping up and bossing the game.
We have seen these kind of games and results all too often over the last 10 years, I'm just gutted it's still happening.
Any comments Eds to cheer me up and give me hope?

Kenny's buy £23m striker Suarez, good but miss too much and very emotional too that effect his performence in field.
£35m Striker Carroll, how many match playing ? unfit drop fit drop too.
£20m Midfield Downing, good til 45 to 65 minute, not 80 to 90 minute.
£17m Henderson, Even Kenny dond know whice possition let him play? and he dont know what have to do in the field. some time play good shoot and score too.
£8m C.Adam i think he is a bit fat and dont have that pace to cope midfiled. but as per price he is ok buys.

IF THAT MUCH MONEY RAFA USE TO BUY A PLAYER SURE HE WILL ROCK THE EPL.

Is this a good time to discuss my possible next holiday destination? I'm liking THE CANARIES!

Seriously, I just wanted to congratulate the Liverpool synchronised diving team (Suarez and Fat Adam were outstanding again tonight) on a well earned point. Two equal teams after all that Liverpool spending, sharing the spoils, is what you want from a relegation 6 pointer!

I still think Brian Dowling is better suited to Big Brother rather than on your wing, and the impact your expensive substitutes made was outstanding. I now trust in Kenny as much as I did in Rafa.

Adam's impression of a beached whale which lead to the Norwich goal was a thing of beauty after last week.

Please don't tell Mr Henry that your manager was appointed to placate the "knowledgeable" Liverpool fans, please, please, please keep the faith in Kenny .

Norwich have announced they wish to negotiate their own TV rights, they have suddenly become one of the most popular teams in the world!

Out now, and off to OT tomorrow, then helicopter to Wembley for the Bucs/Bears game. Big day!

Well done to LSDT and keeeeep cheerful!

Sir Alex x

Were learning to play the united way.. Diving, cheating, extra minutes when drawing or losing and having the officials scared to make decisions against your team..

Well we have the diving nailed on but can't quite get the referees, cheating and made up extra time on our side. 1 out of 4 not bad.
Cmon City

You also can't beat Norwich at home. Or win the league this year. And that is what matters lol

I must say, after watching todays performance, and feeling a bit 'down' about it, Sir Alex's post made me chuckle.
Thanks for the 'comic relief'.

Slur alex never made me chuckle he's a smug tit and its as simple as that and i for one will never give the cretin any credt at all

Ed001,agree 100% with the lack of pace with Carra causing us problems and that chance, i'll call it a chance because thats all it was till the Reina rush of blood. I think the poster i was on about was on about who was at fault for the cross. Was clearly Reina's fault for goal 100%. Coates and Agger at centre half for for me. Were leaking goals in every single game now. Jonson6

Mate i agree that it was Reina's fault for the goal, but do you think he would have come out if any of our other centre backs were playing? Reina lacks confidence in Carra's ability in the air as much as most the other back four. Kelly is a special, very special player who somehow puts papers over the cracks of Carra.

Jatt YNWA

I said at the start of the season that I thought Carra should be edged out Because he would stop us playing a high line. His lack of pace and constant giving it back to the opposition is becoming more and more telling with every game. I did say I wouldn't get involved in a debate. But the tie as come to move forward and that means dropping the Legend.

Theres one man i just can't believe is still playing week in week out, that man is Jamie Carragher. Carra is great against the 'big' teams where we play a much more compact formation and its about the team defending as a unit but in games like this i just don't know how he gets on the pitch.

Why? Very simple, he lacks strength, height, pace and the ability to bring the ball out the back. I watched in disgust as i watched Carra running for his life backwards when STEVE MORRISON! Was running at him. Would Holt have scored had Kelly, Agger, Coates or Skrtel been going for that ball? I don't think so.

And then to add more salt to the wounds i watched the last 10 minutes.........We were going for a winner and guess where a back line was? You guessed it a few yards from our own box! Why? Jamie Carragher. I ask you had City, United or Chelsea been in that situation where would their back four be? Stepping on the half-way line. The space given to Norwich! in the last minutes between Defence and Midfield was staggering and all it did was waste the energy of our midfield trying to track back when they should be going for a winner!

I think its is about time the King bites the bullet and tells Carra, that he has been a legend for the club but he is no longer going to be first choice.

On a seperate note, Glen Johnson isn't a RB. And why was Kuyt playing instead of Big Andy? Andy would have had a hat-trick at half-time if he started.

And finally good to see Fergie working his magic again, Suarez was fouled on at least 4 occasions but didn't get anything.
Rant over......

Jatt YNWA

Mate blaming Carra for the ill's of Liverpool is wrong. We are only a 45 minute team.

Why was Mata not bought? why did Kenny choose Downing over Mata?

Why has carroll lost so much form he is closing in on completing a full year at Liverpool?

Why is Martin S. starting in front of Coates?

Why does Suarez not know how to hit the target in 10 attempts, okay he had a few on target but most were not on target.

Why is adam falling down all the time?

Why is henderson playing at all, he should be in the academy.

Reina was at fault for the goal why can Reina not be blamed? Why is Reina some sort of sacred cow?

Carra is not the source of all Liverpool problems, its our inabilityto score goals that's killing us.

A man who says it how it is.Carra will never again be the player he was,and I am also amazed that Kenny persist with him.Yes we should have easily won this game,we had a lot of chances, but J.C does pull us deep.My biggest complaint, is the way he just Hoofs it.We have 2 Players in the midfield who can pass a ball 4o yards, So why hoof it over their heads into no-mans land.I agree mate, we have Agger and Coates who can play the ball and they're not getting a game.

Puzzled

Very simple to answer.

1. KK prefered Downing over Mata, and Mata cost 10 million more according to figures, Mata might not have wanted to come to Liverpool if clubs offering CL came in for him and offering higher wages.
2.Its coming up to a year, but how much of that time can you say he has been fully fit? maybe 2 months? and your adding in the summer.....
3.I don't understand the critisism of Skrtel, the one bad game he has played all season was against Tottenham and he was playing RB?! i would love to have seen what would have happened to Carra if he was playing against a blue moon in Bale on form.
4.Simple Suarez is trying to hard, why? because currently he is the only striker able to score, and i wonder how many of those shooting oppotunities were created by himself?
5.Reina can be blamed, he was to blame but i ask you why did he feel the need to come out? Because he has a lack of trust in the aerial ability of Jamie Carragher.
6.Carragher is not the source in all of Liverpool problems, but he is a major source in ALOT of our problems.

Jatt YNWA

Henderson is a centre midfielder, so lets Judge him, when he gets a real run in the side in that position.Carra should be the one in the Accademy teaching the kids organisation skills, as long as he doesnt teach them how to hoof it.

And your point on Henderson, I echoed the man above, when he gets a chance in his true position then judge him.

LOLLL! Sorry guys that game was too funny to miss. Still gonna get Champs League? I dont think so. Can't even beat Norwich at HOME?!

You liverpool fans are truly deluded :)

LOVE from THEREDDEVIL

And after your derby match their will be the same difference in points between ye and city and Us and ye, and remember our team is going to keep improving yours won't

Ska-oop

Ok so are team won't keep improving. Lol
Jones, Smalling, Rafael, Fabio and even Evans has been solid this year, all young and that is excluding Vidic.
De Gea is some talent as well and is starting to come into it.
Anderson, is good but has Good potential. Cleverley is a brilliant talent. And both Morrison and Pogba are going to be brilliant players.
Nani and Young just keep improving.
Welbeck and Hernandez are going to keep improving and so is Rooney. Lol love how you underestimate Man Utd. Couldn't even beat our B team.

Reddevil concentrate on the t ating you got today mwwah x

Who ever wrote that post that ended it with Carra's fault for goal is just deluded. Reina was miles away from it, cleaned to of his own players out in the mean time. And look were they broke from half why inside their half. Oh Lucas where are you. Out of all results this season this one has really wound me up. Playing footy in morning, i'm sure someone will be feeling my pain god bless. Jonson6 {Ed001's Note - to be fair, the only reason they were able to break so quickly is because the defence drops off too easily due to Carra. His lack of pace forces everyone back and leaves a gaping hole between midfield and defence. Neither Gerrard nor Adam did enough to fill that gap today. But you are right about Pepe, what on earth was he thinking? If he had stayed on his line he could have caught the ball.}

If you leave your goal line u must punch the ball. reina know he make mistakes. but what did our midfield and striker did ?

I think Pepe has lost his faith in number 23 as well, Ed. Carra should have dealt with the cross, but to be fair he wasn't and didn't get anywhere near it.I agree about the Carra too deep bit. There wouldn't be such a gap between the Midfield and defence, if the defence pushed up.I would like to see Kenny leave if him out for a while and see us press the high for the whole game and not just till we go one up.

Absolutely agree with you ed wee used to do the same when big sami hypia played to i remember having the same argument about playing to deep for lack of pace its there for all to see

I'm so glad daglish has fitted into the Liverpool managers trend by buying players and playing them out of position downing on the right bellemy on the right cheers for that. Kuyt is better starting on the bench or in the stand

Yeah to many damm arm-chair tacticians nowa days.
So many expert home football managers who know better than any qualified manager who has years of experience as a player and manager but clearly not as good as those home fans who play football manager and although no REAL experience but are still experts.
Physic red

Proof is in the pudding man and the pudding is off at the moment. Strange a lot of us armchair critics raise the same points as many knowlegeable pundits. But hey, let's go another 21 years without a league title.

Same views as the pundits who also have never managed a club/team. Well then again their was shearer but we all know what happened there.
You should write your formation, squad and tactics before the next game, send it to John Henry and see what happens. Alternatively you can keep writing negative comments on here after draws and defeats but write nothing when we win. I trust a manager who was a world class player then won trophies and titles with 2 separate clubs rather than those who just criticise, never praise and no experience.
We should of won today and was unlucky not to win but then who am I to praise their effort. If I remember correctly no one gave us any chance of winning the league but atleast we can try

Man city and Chelsea have the money to win the league.. I think them to will start to dominate now {Ed002's Note - I don't think the Liverpool owners could be accused of not suppoirting the manager financially.}

Ed002 you are right but over the long term Liverpool are not at the races financially. {Ed002's Note - Liverpool's owners have invested a lot of money over the past year and have cleared the decks of Degen, El Zhar and the like at a cost conveniently forgotten by most fans and pundits. The club need to be back in Europe next season, and the Champions League has to be the number one target. Although I don't see much other than replacements and cover for injury coming in during January, it is becoming increasingly clear that Liverpool's interest in Luuk De Jong is growing with Newcastle and Lille beginning to look at the player as well. I think the owners would support such a move so I think levelling any financial related claims at them is a little unfair, although it is clear that they do not have the money to spend that the owners of Manchester City have, for example. Being in the Champions League is worth at least £30M to Liverpool and about £10M if the club make the Europa League. It is a very significant amount of money.}

Well that was just awful, 4 wins from 9 games this season just isnt good enough and when you consider the money spent in the summer questions must be asked of kenny. The team is even more of a one man team now than it was when Torres was in full flow. Kenny must get the finger out and get the team playing for 90mins. The honeymoon period is over and results must improve. Most Liverpool fans are gonna keep up with this nonsense about not been able to be citical of Dalglish, its a results business and at the moment there not good enough. 4th is becoming harder every wk as we continue to drop silly points and i fear that if we dont get 4th Kenny is gonna pay for it with his job giving that the owners have stated that 4th place is expected and anything less will be dissapointing.

people there are 38 games in a season.not 9.Were just going through one of them phases were we have been unlucky.every team will have a patch in the season when its difficult.

danny

For the past 20 years the league has had 38 games, you saying liverpool have been unlucky for 20 years?? just not good enough pal

U have to show sign in the 9. drop home point agenest religation fare team is the bad thing to do {Ed001's Note - we were losing games like this last season.}

Unlucky, bad refs... 9 will become 10, 11, 12... Keep the nonsense coming. Unluckiest season in our history coming up...

I agree with the last post. Your not unlucky against Norwich. AT HOME.

I am usually the 1st to back our team an manager... But there was something just not right today.. We played poorly

Myk

38 games? soon you will be saying its a new team and we need to bed it in and we will win the league next season, then next season will come and the same s**t happens. Its been happening for 20 years mate. Maybe because we have no money or we dont have the balls to get the players that are actually good because they will demand more wages........... Yeah more wages wins things which bring more revenue in.

not the best result but 15 shots on goal we win by 5 another day and we're all smiles. beautiful 1st half 2nd was more desperation and we were putting pressure on ourselves to force it. Some nice link up play threw the middle but i cant see johnson in defense, he had great touches getting forward in the 1st and wats with downing on right wing, if he was as potent with his right foot as is with his left it would make sense but he looses time on the ball positioning to use his left foot, cant slate them at all today though as they cleary gave their all! I wouldn't like to slate any one but just a simple question to kenny Dalglish that why did he paid 35m for Carroll, if he thinks he isn't good enough to start, even against the teams like Norwich?
i don't mean anything about our starting line-up or whatever, but can he just tell the reason for having him signed for 35m and then not giving him more than 10 min in a game?

Maybe its just because Carrol hasn't stepped up mate, lets be fair he is carp

For goodness sake, I'm genuinely tired of fans thinking suarez is undroppable! Carroll needed to start in my opinion because week after week its the same story! Suarez missing. If Carroll, kuyt, henderson etc missed as many as him they would be villainised! Suarez needs a wake up call. I'm not blaming him for our loss as it was a loss as a team so every player is responsible, but as I said, things need to change.
Thanks all,

Hooch.

Were was your comments before the game?
Maybe Kenny could off seen your masterclass squad and changed his team.. Your to slow I'm affraid

22 Oct 2011 20:01:41
If i threw a f***in bag of spanners on the deck a player would find it trickier to take on then Glenn Johnson. Ye great attacking prowess shooting on left foot from 35 yards when theirs 3 easy options. Least Suarez keeps going, shoulda squared it to Gerrard. Carroll shoulda bagged but at least he caused bother when he came on a half hour to late for 4 touch Kuyt. No where near as lethal going forward with Gerrard sat back. All those who seemed kind of glad Lucas was out today you might wonder why he plays every game now. Kuyt take 4 touches to control it is past it. Coates in, defo give the guy a chance, he could well of delt with that cross pity Downing never put any in of the same quality. A really pissed off Jonson6

22 Oct 2011 19:58:09
Few things from your game today:

1) Suarez is a great player but he's not a finisher. He's missed 3 or 4 opportunities today and a few more throughout the season that someone like Hernandez or Torres (!) would have put in the back of the net. It's clear that Dalglish has no faith in Carroll, so it looks like you're going to have to reinforce your strikers department in January. Maybe Demba Ba? £35 million? Anyone?

2) Stuart Downing has severley underachieved in his time with Liverpool, which is strange because he's a decent player. If I'm not mistaken, he's started every game this season and is yet to come up with a goal or even an assist. You'd expect more from a player who cost £20m.

3) Dalglish's tactics. Bring on Andy Carroll to score a goal (lol) but take off the one man who can deliver a decent cross? Or maybe he brought him on to "create space for other players"....?

4) Gerrard was awful again. 5) Suarez continues to fall over nothing. 6) Reina was dodgy, which isn't uncommon these days.

Matthew...

I agree with point 1-3 and 5-6

Suarez missed 3 or 4 opportunities how about 11 that was the Stat from ESPN

Gerrard was no worse than any other Liverpool player today the whole team played badly

From what I seen Gerrard did nothing wrong his playing partner in Midfield Mr. Adam was falling around the place like a skittle in a bowling alley.

Obvious the poster before didn't watch the game.
Adam was by miles our best midfielder today.. Miles ahead of Gerrard who is just getting back and won't be back to his best for a few more games yet

Let me guess your a stand up comedian

Adam played a stormer on a windy day that must be why he fell over so many times?

LOL

Only Enrique has looked like a good signing so far. Adam and Downing have both been very disapointing as for Henderson he doesnt look value for money and while i agree he may be one for the future you have to ask why we spent so much on him when we needed players to make an imediate impact this season.A quarter of the season has gone and and kennys summer signings are not looking good not to mention the 35 mil spent in january on Carroll unless there is a dramatic turn of form i can see questions being asked of kenny after all alot of people said he had been out the game for to long and with the money he has spent on the kind of players he has signed may be they were right

22 Oct 2011 19:56:47
can someone please tell me how many points we had after the same amount of games last season.
all the money spent and are we really any better?,were below the likes of tottenham and newcastle. {Ed001's Note - we had 8 points after 9 games last season, I think it is clear to see, to anyone that has any kind of intelligence, that we are far better than last season.}

Ed0001 in reply we have spent multi millions to be 6 points better off than at the same point last season. ive supported lfc for 40 years i have intelligence we are no better. {Ed001's Note - clearly not or you would understand that we are 6 points better off.....}

Dont really understand why we have to compare with last season. we had a bad game so live with it. it is spurs and arsenal we need to compare to.

Don't forget Newcastle. they are having a heck of a time.

Or you could compare your results with the nine teams you have played this season, against the same nine last season? Just substitute Norwich for Blackpool.

Sydney!

Use £ 100m to think that we are better then last year ?. {Ed001's Note - what's your point? What difference does it make how much is spent so long as the club makes forward steps?}

The point is Ed that moving from 6th to 5th will represent an improvement of sorts but its the degree of improvement that counts and will be measured against a net spend. John Henry has said it would be 'catastrophic' if we don't get 4th. And what happens when a team has a catastrophic season? The manager gets the bullet.

Back to reality now after last week?

22 Oct 2011 19:54:19
Get a grip will you..call yourself supporters? We had total control of the game, their goalkeeper played out of his skin, ref gave suarez nothing ( thank you SAF for last weeks comments which clearly had an effect)...we are a good team, suarez is incredible but we do need to take our chances. Overall a good performance, but we were unlucky. Workrate was fantastic for full 93 minutes, it will come good with that sort of attitude

tel 1949

Refs will not fall for Suarez' diving every time (no pun intended), don't you think it's funny that he goes down like he has been shot right where Adam could be lethal with a free-kick? Unless you feel he should be awarded free-kicks for simulation?

Sydney!

I am sorry, but the work rate was not, and I repeat NOT fantastic. If it dosn't happen in the first 20 mins then it's anyones game. Sorry not good enough at home to the likes of Norwich, Sunderland, Hull, Blackpool, Wigan, Fulham,Middlesborough..... Need I go on.
It is now very very boring

22 Oct 2011 19:53:33
Unreal...how we've not won that I'll never know! Suarez was on fire and caused them all sorts of problems, but he's got one himself..he keeps shooting at the keeper! Bellamy good first half no more than ok 2nd, downing made some odd choices and was below his game. Stevie g an Adam were good overall but really should have took a grip in. Latter stages. We were exposed time an again cause the Lucas role was vacant, SG and Adam were forgetting he wasn't there which let them in. Kuyt worked hard as did luis but odd decision making here an there is the fine lube between a draw and a win. Carroll shud have buried that chance at the end, same for luis...aaarrrgghh! The major positive to take from today was we played at times some really good football which sadly we never did this time last year under uncle Roy.
Against Stoke restore lucas for Bellamy, downing left kuyt right with Stevie just off luis, like last week against scabs.
Good game shame about the point
Sinner 786

Maybe its because last week was YOUR game of the season, what I saw of it Suarez looked great about from having the crying girl gene, falling over like a tart and crying all the time.
Ed had it right Carragher means the gap between defence and attack is huge.
Notwithstanding that you scousers should have won the goalie played a blinder, and yours made 1 cock up

22 Oct 2011 20:00:50
I love the club and we have definitely improved from last year in overall team quality. Good first half but an pattern is starting to emerge poor 2nd half performances. Is it a problem with the overall of our player conditioning?

My biggest gripe is that I am getting the sinking feeling that although Suarez is a world class player he has not shown the fox in the box or clinical knack of an Rush, Aldridge or God. I think he will amass a respectable total of around 15 goals and 5 assists for the season.

But if we are going to be pushing for a top 4 place we another striker to score a total 20-25 premier goals.

Looking at the squad at the moment I dont think anyone on current form will achieve this.

The player to me which is the biggest disappointment is Downing. Felt he did well on the first 3 games this season but he has had no goals or assists yet. As much as we should support our players I think AVB or Ferguson would have dropped him by now.

As much as it breaks me at this stage Ashley Youngs performances and stats look better. We can use the excuse that Ashleys playing in a better team however pound for pound Ashleys looking like better value at this early stage.

I have a feeling we will do well in one of the cup competitions, but Champions league qualification this year maybe a little bit too much of a challenge

We once used to have one of the best CM in league with steve, mascherano and alonso.
And it was the reason we nearly won the league from a far better united teams.
Look at newcastle now their CM is really helping them.
Our engine is not working gap between our CM and defence is so much that ed and I could have played cricket there.
Kenny is a living red legend but he is right now LFC manager and he like any other manager should be judged on results.
If we don't get 4th he should pay for it specially with kind of money owners have spent.
We need champions league for LFC to move forward.
These owners at the end of day are businessmen and at the end they will not appriciate a loss to business due to lack of champions league.

No excuses. Should've been 3 points! We missed a lucas type player in midfield today, carra is past it,the subs made no sense,we lacked that extra oomph! I dont miss torres, but we definitely miss his ability to finish chances. This team creates so much but finishes so so little. Very dissapointed with the result. At anfield we should be winning EVERY game and its not an exaggeration. But really, the tactics from kk were awful. Why bring on carrol but take off our two best crossers? Bellamy had a great game and got subbed, yet kuyt, who was poor, remained on the pitch? Johnson should go back to hospital and stay there. Kelly gets my vote everytime. Pleased with the chances created, very very dissapointed with the finishing.

Conceeding at home against lower level teams is now becoming boring. we have already started playing the long ball. Hull at home, Blackpool at home, Wigan at home. Need I say more. Will never win jack when bread and butter 3 points go begging season after season.
We do what we always do, Start like a train and then .....well ...just ordinary. If i dosn't happen in the first 15 mins then it is on a wing and a prayer. remember Sunderland? God knows how many years now of this is, very very trying. If Charlie Adam, Jordan Henderson, Enrique, Dowling, and still,STILL Glen Johnson, Skrtel, and Carra is the the answer then, I'm getting the dubbin and my Puma Kings back out and offering my services, and I won't be asking for 80 grand a week. Towards the end of the game I was disgusted by the attitude of every player in a red shirt. I will leave you with one question, and answer it honestly.
Would the scum(at home)have surrended a lead, and then gone on to surrended an inapt effort to win the game? No, their mananger and fans would not allow it. It is about time we forgot about our past history and start demanding our players to play with an attitude and desire that befits both their wages and passion of the fans.

Why dont you just stop whingeing and go and support mancs or the bitters ? We are liverpool, show some b*****cks will you please. these things take time to evolve, we cant expect overnight and immediate success. Get behind the team and the manager...we are LFC fans after all
Tel 1949

Exactly. WE ARE LFC. That's why we should not except second best. Not from the players and not from the managment. Rebuilding? Over twenty years of rebuilding. Could have built a new wall in China by now.
That wouldn't let goals in against the mighty mighty Norwich. Stop settling for second best. Never did as a player, never will as a supporter.

Well said sick of this rebuilding failure well said son not good enough

We are LFC - what does that mean?

You can't live on past glories wel you can but the reality is painful

Bring in carlo ancelloti, Kenny looking more and more inept every week

Kuyt's confidence has been shattered by being dropped for henderson, he only looks a shadow of the player he was!

22 Oct 2011 19:48:53
I've read all the posts and agree with people when they say Kenny got it wrong. But Kenny is a intelligent man and he will go back look at the things he and the 15 player's who took part today and he will think to himself and get it right next week against West Brom!

Dirk works very hard but it's not enough when you're playing Norwich next week he should be dropped and replaced by Carroll.

Adam cannot play in a 2 man midfield and next week he should be dropped and replaced by Lucas.

Carragher a legend also needs to be left out and see what way Agger and Skrtel get on.

Team I'd play against West Brom:

Reina; Johnson Agger Skrtel Enrique; Downing Bellamy Gerrard Lucas; Carroll Suarez.

I'd keep on the same wingers because we created lots of chances which Carroll would of been delighted with so that's why they stay unchanged.

Well that's my two cents. Bad day at the office for all involved and hopefully we can move on from this and get 3 points next week and get a run going.

Corkpoolred

How do 15 players take part when you're allowed 3 subs and you've got 11 in starting lineup?

In my opinion, the line-up today was fine. Kenny made some dodgy substitutions in the second half, such as replacing Bellamy instead of Downing and substituting Kuyt after 90 minutes, but the starting line-up was good. Where we went wrong was not taking any bleeding chances. I'm tired of watching us brilliantly create a chance then cock it up when we look certain to score. Suarez, Downing, Skrtel and Carroll had some gimmes today, and if we want to be a top team we have to take our chances

Totally disagree!
If our chances went in and we won 4-1 or 4-0 then you'd say Kenny was tactically superb.
The line up was great the performance was dominant but the result was wrong.
Suarez & Kuyt up front was a recipe for tireless attack but I thought today Kuyt played poor. Adam was our star midfielder and today was better than Gerrard.
Everyone seems to pick faults then blame Dalglish far to easily

When I say wrong I was referring to changes he made.

Also 14 is right lol my maths deluded me lol!

Let's be honest, we were unlucky and didn't finish as well as we should- we did have good chances, and that is a lot more than we had this time last year.

The real bummer for me is that if Spurs win tomorrow, they overtake us into 5th spot- and a game in hand, but with them you never know if they'll win it or get battered five nil.

I'm sure we'll start burying these chances, and I still think we'll get into the top 4, but the lads have really got to start getting their act together pronto.

We played really good today and to be fair we have played good attacking football the most of the season.
We lacked the finishing touch today. Suarez was amence today and I though 8players were really good but Kuyt, Downing and Reina were are worst players today.

22 Oct 2011 19:46:49
Calm down lads, nothing wrong with a point. I enjoyed that. We looked sharp and dynamic today against strong rivals. Kenny knows what he is doing.
Lets be realistic, we were never going to get champions league this season (the tottenham game showed us why). It will be years before we contemplate getting back in the top4. Look at the players in squads like man c, man utd, spurs, chelsea, arsenal and then compare to liverpools. We are far inferior.
Dont moan and give us a bad name, a point is good.

Well said mate!!!lets be realistic...

My god i expected a backlash but some of the rubbish the people on here are putting is a disgrace i'm disappointed too but back the team 20+ shots wasn't our day credit to norwich a good side. red kenny

Look at the stats for the last 5 years. Nearly every match we win on shoots on and off target, but...... you know, stats don't make points. Quality does. To much money spent on no quality.

22 Oct 2011 19:44:37
Not going to win many games if we play as deep as we do at home.We get a lead then Super number 23 pulls us all back and starts hoofing it.He needs to be benched and give someone else a chance. He doesn,t pass the ball ,just Hoofs, and Hoofs and shouts at Reina to Hoof it and Enrique to Hoof it,and the rest of the back 4 to hoof it.We can't continue playing this way, when we take the lead as we are giving our opponents a way back into the game.

Hoof the only ball he has ever played play agger he is miles better, and tell skrtel to put some effing studs in his boots always slipping over

22 Oct 2011 19:40:38
yay its my fravourite posters time, the people who wait all year until we lose slag of our player write of the team and never leave there name.

I have problems with todays game but how many times did we hit the post, how many chances did Suarez create and his volleys were great. Today we were unlucky nothing more nothing less we need to gel as a team but overall there were positives to take out of the game, keep the faith lads -McMenemy

How many times do u want to say should of could of would of? We hit the post we had the most attacks? Gerard houllier used to say that. We r not good enough. We bought some rubbish players. Carrol will never repay that fee we paid. Downing is useless hendo is ?? I dont really know.
S

Yes, we must be the unluckiest team around... Every week same old story.

Fensh

22 Oct 2011 19:40:09
and its all gone quiet over here lol u lot think your gunna win the league haha u lot r awful your'll be lucky to be ahead of wigan at the end of the season.... love it.

22 Oct 2011 19:39:31
what a complete waste of space, we couldnt control midfield we missed lucas. we cannot score goals when were in control of a game. gerrard (my opinion) did nothing all game adam why the .... did we buy him. downing forgot to run at players glen johnson is just useless. and kk leaves not only downing but kuyt on the pitch and brings carroll on with only 10 mins left. he is not going to score he needs time on the pitch. norwich knew that make a change and go for it, thats why they scored, we were hopeless in all areas bar suarez. its back to the liverpool of old play wel against top teams and fail miserably against lesser teams. we will never win the league and i very much doubt on the evidence of all games since the start of the season we will finish in the top 4.of all the players kk has signed over the summer on;y enrique looks to be of any good. kk does not know what to do or how to beat teams. its ok playing fancy football but that dont win trophys.

Didn't see much 'fancy football' tbh. Just hoofball with no Carroll on. Suarez will leave.

Lets hope suarez goes the sooner the better and with the 40M lets get a striker who can score goals and not pranny about the pitch looking like a major disaster has happened every time he dives and gets no free kick {Ed001's Note - or play him with a goal scorer that he can create chances for?}

22 Oct 2011 19:38:39
liverpool not clinical enought good performance ,,reina very poor for norwich goal 2 points dropped..downing again average carrol missed a sitter suarez great tricks but no end product same old story yet again not able to kill teams off.. stoke game anyone remember..utd last week this is why we are years off being champions for me not good enought for champions league very poor at the back also..very disappointed red..one positive we are making chances but surely we have to take them..sick of saying this we need a goal poacher..

22 Oct 2011 19:38:38
What a poor performance by the team, and more points dropped.
Well played Norwich!.

Get used to it its gonna happen more often

Dalglish's plan went down the tubes when carroll was not a success

On top of that henderson and downing are not working out either and its compounding the problem.

It could happen to any maager to be fair to dalglish still its no comfort to us Liverpool supporters

Have to sell players and cut loses and start again

Otherwise we'll fester in the doldrums

22 oct 2011 19:36:50
we not show enough respect to maccmanaman. he play 10 years for us. and just he join real and he become bad ? i not remember the name who say it. but remember what he say. if any player service you 5 years then come up with a request i want to leave. then have to respect that. finisher we are missing so much suarez is great but not cool bloded. weast too much time for complaning. good player must speak by his leg not mouth. {Ed001's Note - MacManaman made his bed, he chose to chase the money, he was a great player but his head was turned by a few POTY trophies and he started to forget his friends.}

But he service 10 years ed . dont you thing he can be respected for that. yes its hard to knock back real madrid intarest. top of the europe. gerrard give his all life knock back man utd , real, and chelsea. but every one not gerrard. {Ed001's Note - sorry but I don't care if he played for us for 50 years, he chose the big money over the club, end of.}

Ed's, so right He chose to run hs contract down and earn a bigger wage,Yes we should not forget his time in a red shirt,but at the end of the day we shouldn't forget the way he left.Torres went because he wanted to earn more money, and so did Shaggy. {Ed001's Note - and a huge signing bonus that he would never have got if he left while under contract, which he could have done.}

Agreed, Mcmanaman went for free, he didn't do us any favours on his departure. he was probably our best of 90's, but his departuring way was much worse than Torres, Mascherano, etc.

Macca go for free. He may sign new deal then ask fro trasfer did we agree ? did liverpool let him go? {Ed001's Note - he refused to sign a new deal.}

22 Oct 2011 19:36:07
I thought our performance was really good today maybe just lacked the killer touch. Created lots of chances and really unlucky not to win the game. But if we carry on playing like that then all is well this season.

Maybe just one of those games. But lets get behind the boys.

Mighty reds

All will not be well we are woeful it feels like last season already
When the lads start to be bothered or try in a game then I will believe but ATM its just a team, not my team

If we carry on playing like this we will be 10th.

Oh come on man, everygame is one of those games. We play pedestrian hoofball football, always vulnerable at the back, no creativity, no finishing, defence so deep, cm always exposed and too much space for opp, wrong substitutions-team selection etc etc. I'm not being a downer but common! Not happy!

Fensh {Ed001's Note - you are talking nonsense. How many chances were created? You think the chances created themselves? Perhaps you think the ball magically appears in the box for Suarez to miss? But of course there was so little creativity we only managed 20 shots.}

If I'm not wrong ed, but I thought football was about scoring the most goals, not having the most shots, they count for nothing in the end, just a statistic {Ed001's Note - what the hell has that got to do with it? I was pointing out that the comment regarding a lack of creativity was completely idiotic. Clearly that just went right over your head, try reading the comments properly in future.}

I know what you saying Ed but there was plenty hoofball happening out there and even with all those stats, our play was so slow and I didn't think we were gonna score. Our defence is also always so vulnerable. Do u disagree with all my points or just the creativity?

Fensh {Ed001's Note - there were far too many long balls in the second half, as usual when we score a goal the team drops deeper. Much as I hate to say it, Carra has to take a lot of the criticism for that, I love Carra to bits, but he is the one dragging everyone back. I think his years under Houllier and Rafa have ingrained in him a tendency to drop back and defend deep.}

22 Oct 2011 19:36:06
Maybe people will start appreciating Lucas' importance to the team instead of finding faults with him?

SingRed

Yeah he really chips in with the goals does our lucas

Lucas was sadly missed today. Adam for an over weight footballer can't stay on his feet he was falling around like a druken sailor I thought adam was constructed from better quaity than paper.

What diff would he have made? Would he have headed the ball away from Holt? Would he have scored? Didn't think so.

Its not all about goals mate to create goals you have to run midfield and we lost mdfield in the second half like we have done in so many matches this season we are a 45 minute team, we suffer from premature something

Kenny does need to stop this falling over looking for fouls nonsense. Is getting a bit embarrassing.

Not sure if you have post-game analysis right now, but Keith was right. There was a hole between the defence and midfield so big that any norwich player could walk right through without getting harassed! Lucas weight is not in goals; he cuts out asses and holds the ball better... but I guess some people will never understand

SingRed

Apologies - 'he cuts out passes' not asses! didn't know how that slipped!

SingRed

22 Oct 2011 19:35:49
Just shows how much we need a creator, and how much we need Lucas. The space in between midfield and defence was crazy. It's like the midfield were at the halfway line and the defence at the edge of the penalty area. We ran out of ideas too, despite having several good opportunities which were not taken. The entire team needs to brush up its finishing. We could have scored 10 if those were finished properly. Suarez would be better off getting on with the game when he had a decision going against him rather than moaning and lying on the floor. When things were evidently not going our way, we don't have a Silva/Nasri style player to conjure up something. There is a huge burden on Suarez to create and score, perhaps explaining his poor finishing. Also I don't understand this hint of complacency that sets in whenever we take the lead. We seem unable to keep the lead or kill the game off. People say judge 10/15 games into the season. 9 games have already been played. No more excuses, its time to find the root of everything and solve it.

Keith YNWA

The root is simple Dalglish bought tosh during the summer. We don't have a striker Suarez is not a natural finisher he has proved this point all season he is a good player but no Robbie Fowler.

If the defence pushed up, there wouldn't be a gap between Midfield and Defence our problem lies with the Hoofer at the back.End of story. Please Kenny drop number 23 .He pulls us too deep.

22 Oct 2011 19:34:52
Just not good enough. What good does defending your players and manager do when we fail week after week to either pull out a decent performance, win a game, defend with fortitude and solidarity, or show conviction in front of goal. Kenny, as much as we fans adore you, your tactics are now under serious question.

But for fans who are saying we miss torres, how many goals has he scored for Chelsea? Deal with it and move on. The starting line up was wrong, the substitutions were baffling, the performance was just not good enough, things need to seriously improve.

Thanks all,
Hooch.

We miss Torres because if he stayed and Suarez still signedthe partnership would have been lethal as.he was still finishing the few chances. He got under woys tactivs and would have burie the chances that would have come his.way. Today Suarez missed 4 could.ones but made most of them for himself.

22 Oct 2011 19:34:51
Should have played Flanno, Johnson is just carp. What happened to Enrique today should have played Downing on the left and Bellamy on the right. Midfield were not at it

Shoulda woulda coulda. Fact is we have nobody that can f****ng score. Bring in morgan if them fools are not doing the business

How about not playing downing at all he is useless and 1 cross or run a game is quite frankly appalling

Morgan, I totally agree and have been thinking this for a while, Adam Morgan can do no worse than mr Carroll Unfortunstely though, it won't happen kenny is too scared

22 Oct 2011 19:34:11
Two things KENNY,Play downing in his right position,On the left, not affected on the right, the other,DROP JAMIE CARRAGHER,Just doesn't have it anymore...OPEN YOUR EYES PLEASE......

Bellamy should of played up front instead of kuyt,Speed,Skill, willing to get in there,Kenny your doing a good job,but lets play our players in the best positions...

What did Carra do wrong today blaming him as a scapegoat for Liverpool ill's is wrong the problems lie much deeper than Carra.

Kelly done well in CD. why been droped ? GJ is good wing but back from injury and direct 90minute ? Belamy was best man in the field been sub in wrong time. Kuyt is not 90 minute player anymore so do Adam.

Did you watch the match,a snail would leave carra for dead now,the defence have to do there job as well as cover him, always out of position, getting the ball, and punting it up field to there defence...Good servant, but seen better days,Drop the local lad,if you dare....never happen

22 Oct 2011 19:33:59
Wow. So disheartened again.
Kenny is doing my head in, i will probably get murdered for saying that but it's true!
Bellamy playing well so why replace him with hendo and leave on a completely useless and annoying downing?
Really pi--ed off
I am going to say this, and I know the response that I will get, but we are not top 4/5 material with a team of incompetent divs. kennys tactics and subs are IMO awful why bring on a cb when we are looking for a goal?
We are a one man team, and that only man is Luis Suarez, we are nothing if he gets injured or suspended
Sorry for the rant but I'm just so disappointed
Bean

Totally agree.

You are blind Mate if you think suarez is the saviour actually he's part of the problem

I never said Suarez was the saviour just our only player that looks to give a s**te during a game
Not really a problem is he?, his diving or whatever is for the good of the team

Missing 11 chances aand diving around the place is not good for the team

If he suarez stayed on his feet more often we might be better off don't ya think?

Its very cynical diving around the kip all the time and certainly is not good to watch if the drog did this on a visit to anfield would you think it good?

Actually I think suarez is a problem.

He's not a striker but he's pretending to be one.

We have scored 50% less goals the UTD why?

If Suarez is as good as shrek why is our goal for so bad?

22 Oct 2011 19:33:30
Liverpool really do need a top finisher , and someone has to tell suarez to pass when a simple goal is on instead of shoot the basic's of football , try them thing when 2-0 up

downing isn't cutting it has offered nothing since he joined

Downing was really woeful tday. Just doesnt offer much for 90 mins. Both downing n Young looked good at villa. On the big stage, they r found out to be nothin more than average wingers.

the same story as before and will come, there is no trophy
only dream forever and ever..

22 Oct 2011 19:33:13
Absolutely agree with Red Indian. Also Gerrard should be on the bench as he is either unfit or disinterested. It's AS GUTLESS & TOOTHLESS AS GUTLESS & TOOTHLESS CAN *UCKING BE! And for G*d's sake, stick Carrol in the reserves so he could play regularly at his level and maybe improve. It's been the same all season - simply no heart! Maybe I expect too much of my beloved Liverpool?
rhi

Carrol cant b blamed he missed one chance! Needs more than ten mins!

Sorry Carroll can be blamed it wasnt just a chance it was a sitter

Ok so drop carrol and have em leave kyut on you person 10 mins on and you expect miricales

22 Oct 2011 19:33:08
I know the word what kenny say. we play well but unlucky. I dont think luck is only for us Norwich play well too, they have miss chance too. Maxi not playeing why ? your £35m man score a goal and find him self out next 3 match in raw why ? we play a bit Rush football rather then creative football. hold the ball keep good passing. Norwich play that kind of football.

22 Oct 2011 19:33:05
Finishing has been awful, so far this campaign. And it still was today. Disappointed. Absolutely gutted. When would we start winning. It seems that top 4 is more likely a dream, now. Can't explain how bad I am feeling now. It feels like I should go out and cry my heart out. too bad to get a draw, when you were the favourites to get an easy win. Gutted.

22 Oct 2011 19:32:10
I'm furious at that result, The side we put out was more than capable of finishing off Norwich, as much as I love Suarez I'm getting more and more annoyed with his inability to stay on his feet from the slightest (if any) contact. The whole game looked like a training session walking pace the whole way through even after Norwich scored the team just didn't seem to come out of first gear, perfect chance to get a few points in the bag and we threw it away. As much as it pains me to say it performances like that don't deserve European football. Sort it out boys!

Ashy

I agree with you. We have a squad fully capable of even challenging for the title.
What we don't have is character and right attitude.
rhi

22 Oct 2011 19:32:07
suarez has some brilliant moves and works hard for the team but he needs to take more chances.
JJ blackpool

22 Oct 2011 19:31:21
So there u have it. Carrol biggest waste of money ever. Downing useless, johnson should not b first choice. Kelly is much better. Suarez wasteful needs shooting practise, but still our front line leader who needs a goal scorer up with as Carrol couldnt score in a brothel. Our midfield needs fitness. Jose f@cking clear the ball. .... How many more games do we have to wait to see if we r starting to gel? Its all excuses. We couldve bought better. Results speak for themselves

S

Very insightful, it's this sort of post that makes me want to stay away from this site until the transfer window opens.
Kenny said during the week we need to be more clinical, I think we'd all agree with that. Lucas was a big miss aswell.

The Booter

Agreed mate. the lads we've looked over in search of premier league exp are doing great in BPL and also in their leagus. Carroll, I'd not like to slate him, he didn't played too much today. But we could have easily bought much better players. But still I would back them, but the question is for how long, when would we see us finishing the chances. Gutted by today's result. and much worried about the game against stokes, now. Disappointed, just feels like crying.

22 Oct 2011 19:31:21
i really hope somebody has a word with suarez about his diving and dissent. It has to stop

Dissent is because of frustration, similar to Torres - when things don't work out. Diving, I am afraid, is now a big part of football - and even if Suarez does it, it's not theatre, just trying to trick the defenders into fouling him. The only problem with Suarez today was his unwillingness to share... He is still our best player even when he doesn't play well.
rhi

Another poster in denial of suarez abilities he's limited, very limited in tight matches he aint gonna get 10-20 attempts to score wake up FFS stop seeing suarez with rose tinted glasses yes suarez is a good player but a great striker he aint

22 Oct 2011 19:31:06
Well done liverpool

22 Oct 2011 19:30:59
The ref was a disgrace but we can't keep blaming officials for a lack of creativity

HANS

To be honest I didn't think the ref was too bad, there wasn't any big descisions to make and he kept the game flowing well.

Ashy

There were one or two poor decisions against us (Barnett on Adam and when Suarez was bought down after a Reina clearance) and he gave free kicks occasionally for nothing 50-50's on Norwich players

22 Oct 2011 19:30:58
Dalglish got it wrong today poor decisions

Totally agree subs were so wrong it's untrue

Kuyt shudnt have started. Carrol wud probably have put a couple past ruddy with all those crosses frm gerro n downing. KK made many mistakes. Hendo shud have been given atleast 45 mins on the pitch, to replace adam.
Indian Buzzer

22 Oct 2011 19:30:46
I've said it before and I will say it again. For a team that has spent £100 million on players in the last 2 windows, I would say £70 million of it has been a waste of money. And the sad thing is, if we don't get 4th, Kenny's will be out and his renaisance will have lasted a grand total of 18 months.

Ash

Many wud say that ash is a tad too negative, but iv always said that he is being realistic as well. KK has just not spent the money well, n if messes up in jan as well, wudnt mind seing a new but better tactician as our manager cum next season.
Indian Buzzer

22 Oct 2011 19:30:40
carrol should have took his header better but we lack goals from midfield in general and glen johnson is not good enough for our right back kelly is a better defender.Kenny needs to make subs sooner than he is doing!!!
JJ blackpool

If that header would have got in, it would certainly have had made my day. But i'd not slate him. He missed only one chance when the others have had dosens of them, missed.

22 Oct 2011 19:30:08
And there you see our Achilles heel! All the fools that thought we had an easy 9 points in the bag over our next 3 matches. On the plus side we will probably beat Citeh & Chelsea. Easy points dropped against easier teams, year in, year out.

The Irish Rover

22 Oct 2011 19:29:54
What was KD thinking? Settling for the draw with 4 minutes to go by bringing off kuyt and putting on skertel ??? disgrace. We are the home team for god sake, Suarez is so frustrating, anytime you look at him hes either moaning or diving or rolling around the floor, Carroll for 35m should be able to hit the target from 4 yards out with a hearder, especially seems as he didnt start the game so he would of been fresh, gonna be tough to get europa league if we keep playing like this... Wayne

*agger, sorry.

22 Oct 2011 19:29:14
Luis Suarez finishing is absoultely terrible... and iv felt that since he desroyed fulham last year and couldnt score until late on

10 shots and didnt score if that was rooney aguero or even torres they would of scored 2 or 3 of them

He cant score to save his life

22 Oct 2011 19:29:11
Have to agree with all the statements of us not being quite good enough for top 4. LFC still have that deep lying complex of only being able to raise their game against bitter rivals or top teams. If this doesn't stop, we will just remain a 6th - 8th position team. Some players today looked to be trying, others just earning a huge wage.

If finishing problem is not rectified, there is absolutely no chance that we'd be at top 4 by end of season. One goal a game is never good enough, and having that in something like 30 shots on target is absolutely terrible.

22 Oct 2011 19:28:01
There is no creative midfielder who can unlock teams with quick feet in the middle or on the wing. Im affraid british players are not the answer to solve this problem we need to go abroad and bring in a player similar to suarez except in midfield. There is just no flair and little pace. No wow factor = no top 4.

E.H LFC

22 Oct 2011 19:26:33
RUBBISH...20+ shots on goal and only one point to show from it, not good enough...

And even that was a deflection

I agree we seem to be missing that precise finish, we've got chances but no-one who is consistently clinical with their finish.

KennyD JFT96

22 Oct 2011 19:26:24
the story of our season so far

22 Oct 2011 19:26:19
hey lfc fans...

i guess WHEN it matters.........we never win games.....
when its against the big teams.........we do well.

money spent.......but same old story........

it bothers me to admit we are average..but i cant help it.......

Agreed mate. We are probably average at best. Silverware or top 4 this season is feeling more like a dream again.

22 Oct 2011 19:26:19
And thats why Adam and Gerrard should never play in a 2 man centre midfield, nobody wants to track, tackle or cover the back four. BTW, how bad was Glenn Johnson today?

Glen was poor as his first game back. What bothered me was his lack of desire and kk lack of dealing with him. He should have come off before the goal went in. he was tired n not trying. Kelly is the future and present

22 Oct 2011 19:26:02
Carroll unlucky , what do we have to do to score, why are we so unlucky ffs

Ghandi Floss

Who still thinks suarez is a striker?

20 chances and he still can't score.

Did rush or fowler need 20 chances too score one goal?

22 Oct 2011 19:24:18
how frustrating was that

22 oct 2011 19:24:17

"thanks for nothing Andy" sounds better and more to the point.

22 Oct 2011 19:18:16
How does kuyt and downing stay on pitch ahead of bellamy.
Against norwich at home we still can't control CM.
Can kenny inform adam that as CM he should learn some defending.
What an awful performance from top to bottom including from gaffa.
This team if keep itself so open and out of shape can forget and kiss 4th good bye.
And yes even this early in season.
And pls don't give roy like excuses.judge us after 10 games or 15 games etc.
I am so frustated.

Red indian

Adam is not better then Meirles. but we change a bit more old player then the young sattle one ?

I have saying 4th is unrealistic for a long time now

22 Oct 2011 19:16:42
I've said it before & I'll say it again

We will not finish in the top 4 this season

Not good enough

Coxy82

Newcastle will finish 4th or Tottenham not Liverpool . Sad to say it but thats true.

Liverpool, Spurs or Arsenal will finish 4th, not Newcastle. But I have to favour Spurs over yourselves. They have an immense squad and very good first eleven and they are keeping their fringe & youth happy by playing them in the Europa League, in the meantime keeping the first team fresh.

Sydney!

Feeling more like its gonna be the same old story. We've really invested brilliantly for newcastle. They are absolutely terrific so far.

22 Oct 2011 19:14:35
Does anyone think Suarez would be better if he stayed on his feet and stopped goin over too easy

The ref has been a disgrace, the wee man has been subject to some harsh defending. The ref seems to be trying to send a mesg to suarez cause he hasnt giving the wee man anything. Bad second half display as well, we seem unable to put games to bed. first half display we should have been 3-0 up but second half terible display. Scottishkop YNWA

Suarez needs to practice his finishing me thinks...

Suarez has two left feet

Reina who can't be criticised was at fault for the goal

He shud stop moanin stay on his feet

22 Oct 2011 19:14:31
Carroll at last but he hasn't got long to make an impact I'd have brought him on at half time.

Why. Carroll is a lump of clay. He's only attribute, he supposedly fine heading abilities, and still cant put it anywhere near the goal. Carrol, Adam and Downing. Wow how we have improved....

22 Oct 2011 19:13:15
why Kuyt still there he look very tierd. 2 best crosser taken off and the long man now in the field who will cross ? Oh God

Why Kuyt even in the starting 11?

22 Oct 2011 19:10:57
It's like the Stoke game all over again.. We seem to run out of ideas when things don't go our way. It's a monkey on our back when we play the teams that we are expected to beat and more often than not we let ourselves down and drop points.. I don't want to sound negative but It's something we need to sort out quickly or we can forget about a top 4 finish.

West brom, Swansea, Chelsea and Man city to come if we drop points today then we need to win all 4 to stay in the top six alone...

Curled1

Its like every game mate. I don't see the pass and move everyone talks about just hoofing. And we hoof and Carroll isn't on? Wtf!

Can't see us even getting close to City especially playing away

22 Oct 2011 19:10:37
Suarez spends more time on the ground and complaining than anything else, what a waste.

Owen

22 Oct 2011 19:10:27
Kennys player change tactics is very much wrong. just 15 minutes to go Crrol not there but too many cross is there. we are in emotional hand again. no word can be said agenest Kenny. hope just not lost the game . but cant win for sure.

22 Oct 2011 19:10:20
Should be dealing with Norwich! No excuses, same problems.

22 Oct 2011 19:07:47
What is Kenny thinking?

22 Oct 2011 19:04:12
Norwich look the more likely to win - what is going on?

22 Oct 2011 19:02:06
Ever get the feeling Kenny just doesn't fancy Carroll. Bellamy off Henderson on when we need a goal - baffling.

22 Oct 2011 19:00:54
Henderson Should Have Come On For Adam, Carroll Should Come On For Kuyt, And As For The Muppet That Asked If We Miss Torres...

Torrres is now banging them in who would not want him back?

Does anyone still think squarez is the best striker in the premiership

He's not fit to lace shrek's boots

22 Oct 2011 18:57:42
Liverpool have dominated for an hour and hit the woodwork three times, but Norwich all square. Sound familiar - Dalglish needs to act. Carroll on Kuyt off.

22 Oct 2011 18:56:23
I don't like how Adam is going down at the slightest of touches.

Keith YNWA

He got key free kick from the dive last week so it worked then but him and Suarez need to stay on there feet

22 Oct 2011 18:53:11
I don't want to complain becausecwecare infinitely better than last year but this inability to kill teams off us starting to become a major concern. The better teams would have put this game to bed ages ago
AD

Playing long ball as usual (can't pass out from the back) but Carroll not on the field... Makes sense...

Inability to score goals is killing me! Big Andy will score just now!

Better teams like man u who scraped a draw and chelsea who only beat them 3:1 because norwich had there GK sent off

AJ

22 Oct 2011 18:53:03
Poor goal conceded, that one. Reina shouldn't have come for the ball, Carragher and Johnson lost Holt.

Keith YNWA

And then Enrique totally lost Holt for the next chance. Up to sh#t at the back. Suarez needs to stop shooting straight at the keeper...

Reina took carra nd johnson out and left holt with a free header

Who's to blame did anyone say Reina?

22 Oct 2011 18:51:08
We need to kill games off. Good we're creating chances Bad We're not taking enough of them.

Reina + Carra = 1-1 ;-(

22 Oct 2011 18:43:53
do you miss torres

Not the first time I have seen the words Torress and miss used in the same sentence this season.

JRG

What about the two words "Dodgy" & "keeper" ?

No

Jasper

I miss anyone that can score a blady goal!!

I miss him, I'll admit it, with Suarez he'd be stellar. We got no pure goal scorers

22 Oct 2011 18:21:31
Struggling to score again. Hardly surprising without a recognised striker. Carroll has to come on at half time.

Carroll for Kuyt imo.

Why bellamy off and not kuyt!!

22 Oct 2011 18:24:14
Gerrard showing us how much we have missed him. we should be 5-0 up.

cozinoz

Looks like he's lost a yard to me. Even Andy Townsend on sky analysis mentions the back 4 too deep because of Carra and hence to much space in cm and not enough pressure. We need to change something very quickly!

22 Oct 2011 18:23:52
suprised like most I expected Bellamy to be up front but im sure hes on wing, in this case i would have played carroll instead of Kuyt up front.

When reina boots it up the feild Suarez is the target and everytime he has been man handled with Carroll he gets the nod on. I don't think we should change ur style but Carroll is a good enough player to adapt, people forget hes only young -McMenemy

22 Oct 2011 18:23:46
Lets be honest, Wer lucky to be 1 up with the o.g... Any1 else thinks suarez hasnt looked happy for ages when he plays for us? I think hes gonna do the exact same as alonso, mascherano and torres and use us a stepping stone and join a top club, As for the 1st half, Downing is not playing well, Adam is just passing the ball sideways and backwards, Gerrard doesnt look fit and we spent all that money on henderson and carroll and yet again theyre just warming the bench, need much better in the 2nd half, its norwich for gods sake.

Michael

I'm not complaining that Carroll isn't starting today but if this team wants to be a top team they need Carroll to become the player they spent all that cash on. And the only way he is ever going to become that player is to, ya know, play some games.

If however the club no longer thinks Carroll can be that top player, they need to admit the mistake, sell the player at a loss and try to bring in another player who can be that star quality guy.

Right now in our front six we have alot of good players, but the only 2 that can be called elite players are Suarez and Gerrard. Stevie is obviously getting a bit older and thus we have to expect him to pick up some more injuries here and there and to also just need to rest a bit more. That means that too much falls on Suarez to be everything. To be the creative force and the finisher. We need another star player to either play out wide, partner with Suarez or play behind him.

The club intended that to be Carroll and maybe they feel long term he can still be that. However if they don't think he can be that any more, they need to get someone who can.

Ridiculous post of the day. Andy Carroll has YEARS to go at LFC - he's not on form at the moment so he's on the bench. He'll come good soon enough but to suggest he needs to be sold smells very strongly of a Manc

cozinoz

Good post. Suarez is trying too hard and too much at the moment, trying to be creator and finisher. We need to bring in someone who can be either, even if it means selling Carroll at a loss. Just remember to sign your post next time, mate.

I was just wondering if they was any interest in Lewis Dunk from Brighton? He's only 19/20 and is showing a lot of promise, that said he is playing in the Championship. Poyet has said he would have to sell if the right offer comes in (particularly from Prem clubs) so technically he is available.... Could be worth a look?

22 Oct 2011 17:10:26
From the Guardian website- an old LFC supporters song from a century ago:

"Hurrah for the Reds (1907):

Hurrah for the boys to play the game / Hurrah for the Reds! / Hurrah for the boys there's none can tame / Hurrah for the Reds! / There's Hewitt and Mac to lead the attack / With Hardy to hold the fort, boys / There's Goddard and Cox, and Raisbeck the fox / And more of the good old sort, boys / Hurrah Hurrah Hurrah Hurrah / Hurrah for the Reds!"

I havent got the tune, but how's about that sung by the Kop today? lol

Tally ho boys!

Ed001, do you think if we were playing City for instance away, Johnson would've started this game or do you think its his attacking thats got him his starting berth. Cant belive he's been given the nod over Kelly tbh. Well with the line ups an it looks like were gonna try and blitz em with pace. Be interesting how our midfield copes without Lucas. Gutted Henderson not starting as well. Jonson6 {Ed001's Note - it is unlikely he would have been brought back straight into the side if it was one of the top sides.}

Iggypop, Were all fed up of this spoilt little brat who calls himself Sir Alex but dont worry he'll eventually go away if we just ignore the brat. He thinks he's clever coming on here correcting spelling and grammar and also giving his quiz questions but as adults we have to make allowances for childish brats who never had any love and attention shown to them as a little child, Added to that he wont have any friends apart from his computer so all in all he's a lonely spoilt brat !

Liverpool v Norwich or Strictly Come Dancing. I really don't know what to watch on TV this evening.

Should I go for the sheer campness of watching some grown men prance about, performing well rehearsed "theatrical" moves, throwing themselves around, sometimes rolling around on the floor for effect, often tripping over their own feet, trying hard to look like professionals, but mostly perform like amateurs. All this in front of a respectfully quiet audience, who lack any knowledge or understanding on the technicalities of what they are watching, although they think they do. The performance being assessed by an old has been head judge who is associated with SEVERN!

Or, shall I watch Strictly? decisions decisions!

I'm pleased with the debate on whether Johnson or Kelly should start at right back. It is a testimony to how much our squad has improved from last year. Now we have 2 fantastic and established right backs, as well as a 19 year old youngster who is hungry to prove himself. Last season when Johnson was injured it was Carra who filled in at rignt back. It all bodes well for us.

Martin Kelly hopefully will start today he is the man in form and KK always goes with form. Johnson as not proved his fitness and been injured for last two months. Also i believe his best games last season were at left bk and jose is playing too good at the moment. Kelly is a better defender than Johnson which is a priority for a right back but can also deliver a great cross.

Johnson needs to be eased back but a nice player to have on the bench. But you have to earn your place in the side.

Mighty reds

I disagree, particularly as Kenny has said he will pick the players right for the occassion. Norwich will park the bus and look to hit us on the counter. Glen Johnson's attacking ability suits this game more than Kellys's defensive ability. Glen will start.
JK

Norwich don't play like that JK mate. They always set out to win the game and Lambert has them playing, lovely pass and move football. They went to OT and played United off the park, they will have no quams of having a go at us today.

Kelly to start for me, i'd be very supprised if Glen started. I don't even think Glen is fit enough, to play from the start.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

I have a feeling it'll be Johnson who starts- KK does go with the form players, but also the formation he picks depends on the opposition.
At home against Norwich, I think he'll tell the lads to be out of the blocks quickly, and get forward from very start, and see if we can get a goal or two before half time.

In fairness to the guy, I personally think Johnson has improved a lot as a defender since KK arrived.
He does still get caught out of position, but then you could argue that Kelly is a bit weak at cutting out crosses?

Kelly makes some great runs forward, but his final ball isn't always that accurate. Johnson seems to have a quicker football brain- he's better at attacking, which I think KK might want to do today- its horses for courses, maybe.

Against a stronger side it would be a really hard choice, as Kelly is a very solid defender, but today I think we'll see Johnson making an appearance.

I think it will be a good time to try johnson on the wing with kelly at RB.

Just yet another comment on the stadium issue. We should, imho, either expand anfield where it is or build a rectangular replica only bigger on Stanley Park. This would keep the tradition and the atmosphere. Anfield is great but anyone doing the tour must agree that the facilities do not look great? Particularly the changing rooms. Recognise all the transport link and surrounding property issues will have to be considered.

Someone posted about a stadium in Australia a while back that is rectangular and inspirational but can't find the link - sorry! Worth a look. Anyone help?

read our resident angel jonson6 post and I completely agree we can not drop Kelly due to his great performances.

But lets be frank Johnson is to good of a player just to leave on the bench or sell to our rivals, if Johnson's main attributes are his speed and attactive abillity and we are lacking a natural right winger because Kuyt is a striker at heart and Hendo is a CM then I beleive Johnson is the winger were missing.

Given the choice between Kelly or Johnson today I would pick Johnson due to us being agiant forrest however on merrit Kelly should stay where he is and Johnson put on wing -McMenemy

As it is clear from previous posts that most of you don't know your club, as previously you have proven that you cannot even spell the names of your most famous and great managers of the past, this is a follow on quiz to help you get back to basics, and get to know your club, Liverpool FC.

Q3 What is the name of your home ground?

a) Anfield
b) Land fill
c) La La Land

Q4 What EPL club did Ian Ayre disrespect when suggesting that people from Kuala Lumpur do not want to watch them?

a) Liverpool
b) Man City
c) Bolton

Q5 Which player did Kenny Dalglish defend as "not a diver" this week? (This is the most difficult question)

a) Adam
b) Dowling
c) Suarez
d) Gerrard
e) Any other Liverpool player

Q6 Which Liverpool player said this week "I have always respected and respect everybody" having previously bitten an opponent?

a) Kuyt
b) Suarez
c) Gerrard

Q7 What season did Liverpool last win the League title(another difficult question)?

a) 1989/90
b) 1889/90
c) 1789/90

Looking at your previous posts, you will all struggle with the above, but give it a go. Don't forget, your previous great managers names were Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley. Please try not to forget how to spell their names in the future.

Q8 -did you sir buy a little house with howard down the countryside ?

Hey I noticed that the Johnson vs. Kelly debate has come up again. And I'm in favor of having Kelly start. Do you guys realize that since KK has taken over we have been almost unbeaten in the prem when Kelly has started. Our only two losses when Kelly has started was the loss to Blackpool in Jan (which was KK's first game in charge in the prem) and the loss to West Ham, in which Kelly was subbed before half time because he got injured. And if you look at this season he's been fantastic. I'd like to think that we would have beaten Sunderland had he been there to start in place of Flano. And he would have done a hell of a lot better against Bale that Skrtel did when we played spurs.

Q1 (this is obviously difficult) Can you spell the names of your club's 2 greatest managers...clue (Bill and Bob)?

Further clue; look back at Kenny -V's post, he so nearly got got it right..a few times.

Q2 (a bit easier) Multi-choice Tie-breaker..what colour shirts do Liverpool traditionally wear at home..Orange, Yellow or Red?

The winner will receive a fantastic prize, honest!

Sir Alex x

Sir Alex.
Let me guess, could the prize be, a romantic evening with Ryan Giggs's sister in law, or maybe a thrilling game of 'I accuse you, and truth or dare!' With Patrice Evra.
Such stellar and 'charming' ambassadors and indeed captains your club, has to offer, "oh dear", I just wet my pants in excitement.

Do ya not have great managers of ya own to talk about then ? obviously not

The Real KB,, i suppose its where the club feel Kellys long term position is. At right back or centre half. Maybe that would come into the equation mate. Dont get me wrong i think Johnson is a top player but like i said if the club see Kelly as a long term right back i think he'll get off of his own volition, prob to a rival like you said. But if they cant make a flying winger out of Glenn this season i can see him wanting to get off mate. How long is he prepared to wait to gain his right back spot in the team if the right mid plan dont work out or Kelly stays at right back with Coates and Agger being the centre half partnership of the future. To be fair i do think Agger has to play majority of season without injury to warrant another season with us as good as he is, and to be fair he top class when fit. So if thats the case Kelly and Coates could end up being the first choice pairing with some help from Carra. I do think that Kellys position and Johnson staying could end up depending on how Agger comes back this time re injury's imo? I remember a reporter asking K.K asking what Johnson thought of playing left wing back against Chelsea and he answered, its better then not playing or words to that effect,so who knows. Just an opinion mate. Jonson6

Yeh you're right. If Kelly does make the switch to CB, it might not be for another couple of seasons yet as he learns the game. And your reasoning with Agger seems sound too.
Johnson can cover for RB and LB, and there was talk of trying him on the wing too. I would really like to see him make a go of it there. He's good enough. And it would save us shelling out for a RW next time round too maybe. But, as you say, he might get p***ed off and want out. It'd be a shame for me though.

King Kenny -V

An interesting post. May I suggest, before referring to the great managers of Liverpool Football Club's past, you have the knowledge and decency to spell their names correctly.

You reference, and I quote, "King Paisely, King Shankley".

As a Manchester United supporter, I will correct you that these great men of football were known as Mr Bill Shankly, and Mr Bob Paisley.

No other Liverpool supporter has picked this up, so I thought I should out of respect for these great men.

Come on 'Sir Alex x' give the lies a rest mate, Blair has already exposed you as a bitter Toffee.

Your mentor Blair is a loveable oaf , but lets assume I am an Everton supporter, your boys still can't be bothered to spell your greatest managers names correctly.

K96

As always, I can't be bothered with ya. The "babe" thing is a bit weird though!

Sir Alex x

Ha ha " a bit weird though "

That's strange coming from a blue who try's to be a Manc you really have lost it sir everton babe . K96 .

I think Alex is being objective and fair enough to say that Shanks and Paisley were great managers, as their records attest
And likewise, although we all loathe Fergie on a personal level, it cannot be denied that he is one of the truly great managers of the premiership era.

Good on you for fair play, Alex.

Thanks mate. It has to be, for me Shanks, Bob, Sir Matt, Sir Alex, Jock and Brian Clough as the unequalled special football men in British Football.

Sir Alex x

Dear Sir Alex.
As a dedicated and passionate Liverpool fan of more than 35 years, I have tremendous respect and admiration for "Sir Alex" (sorry mate, the other). What Sir Alex Ferguson has achieved is remarkable, and to still have the drive and passion for the club even after 25 years is to be admired.
I believe that one has to give credit where it is due.
I am sure many a LFC fan (myself included), are somewhat envious of what he has achieved.
Regards.
Shankly's Red Army (and a proud Scot!).

I agree Sir Alex ( the real one) has achieved great things but he does not stand up there with Shankly and Paisley because he has done so with an attitude that is completely disrepectful to other players, managers and clubs. He has no class and does not deserve the respect his achievements should warrant.

Interesting to read the comments about Sir Alex (manager). In the modern era it is a remarkable achievement indeed, the successes of his managerial reign speak for themselves, we can not dispute them. I think at lot of it is to do with Sir Bobby Charlton, who mentored and advised Sir Alex along the way. I can't help but think how LFC managers (over the last 25 years) might have achieved more had a "mentor" like this, been available to them. Food for thought!.

Ed, do you think Glen Johnson will ever be used as a right winger? For most of us it seems an obvious and exciting choice, although I trust that KK is smarter than most. Thanks. {Ed001's Note - there was a plan to try him out on the right side of midfield last season, injuries put paid to it. I do expect the club to look at the idea again, while Kelly is fit and playing well, I wouldn't be surprised if this weekend was the time it was tried. I don't have any info on that, it would just make sense with Lucas missing and Kelly playing well.}

I have a sneaky feeling KD will give bellamy a start tomorrow. Problem is do you rest suarez and pair bellamy with carroll or leave carroll out again. surely its a game to use your squad and give luis a rest. thats if you go 442. id imagine bellamy is starting to wonder if he is going to get much game time. so was just wondering will KD go for 433 with hendo gerrard adam, bellamy carroll suarez. maybe 442 with bellamy left and kuyt right. carroll suarez up top. anyway great to have these problems. last year the team picked itself. cant wait to see starting 11. ill go for 3-1 tomorrow. carroll 2 and adam. Cheers for your response about Luuk De Jong Ed's.

I'm just wondering if you could compare him to a similar player to give me and everyone else a bit more of a insight. Any response would be appreciated.

Thanks, James. {Ed001's Note - I really can't think of someone to compare him with, I really think I will have to see if I can get some links to games he has played in. They keep getting removed (sometimes while I am in the middle of watching the damn things!) due to copyright issues or I would post the links up.}
