Rumoured that united are after Vicktor Fischer, bit gutted, he was awesome in the NextGen last season, but for £5million? Still, I'd love him to be playing for us, has super star written all over him.

Yesil is as good, if not better. Thing is yesil is not yet ready, while viktor has been ready for 1-2years. Give samed time, he will be better!

I hope I'm wrong but I think Utd. could really do us over tomorrow. My reasoning is that we're defending poorly at the moment and Utd's game is playing on the break.

I really hope I am wrong!

Its a real worry.
I just hope we are not at the very bottom of the league.
Its already our worst start in 100yrs, and could get worse.

Something which i came across after a long time. He was one of the players whom I adored and all the kop faithful had as well.

A letter from Luis to Liverpool FC
Dear Reds,

First of all I'd like to apologise for not having been back in touch sooner, but I needed to take some time to take on board all the recent changes and then to put down these words for you.

I'm sure you will understand.

I would rather this be a letter of thanks and gratitude, not simply a goodbye.

Yes, that's right, gratitude, because that is the word that best sums up my feelings for you all.

Taking the decision to change clubs hasn't been easy. Not easy at all.

I've experienced three fantastic years at the club and in the city. Three years in which together, the fans and the team, we have accomplished some fantastic achievements, and I'm sure that these successes will continue to be repeated in the near future.

You know that I like a challenge and that I don't just settle for second best.

Back then Liverpool Football Club gave me the opportunity to be part of an ambitious plan to put the Reds back at the summit of the game.

I think that together we managed to achieve that.

As I said, I do like challenges and in spite of the fact that at that time I was playing for my home town club, one of the biggest in the world, I wanted to be a part of that project that was being presented to me by Liverpool, and so I accepted the challenge.

Now, after three seasons in the Premier League and having won some major trophies, the chance came up for me to return to La Liga and be part of a new project at a club I already knew.

The idea of enjoying things in a Spanish club like we experienced together at Liverpool over these last three years appealed to me, and that's why I accepted the offer.

I want to thank everyone working at Liverpool Football Club for how well they have treated both my family and I, making us feel at home from the very first day to the last.

I also want to thank the management, coaching staff and directors for the opportunity they gave me back then to be part of such an important and well-loved club as Liverpool. A club which has helped me to grow as a footballer and where to date I have enjoyed the biggest success of my career.

Without a doubt, this success has been possible thanks to the outstanding group of players with whom I've been able to share a dressing room over the last three seasons.

I'm not going to mention anyone specifically, because I think that the secret of this team's success has been exactly that: nobody wanted to stand out above the rest and there has always been a great togetherness in the squad, which made it into something more than a group of players, it was a group of friends.

Thanks to all of you for your help and your friendship.

I've left until last the thank you which for me is the most important: Thank you to the supporters.

Your support allowed me to settle quickly at both the club and in the city, and you made me feel really at ease with you all right from the word go; that's the kind of help that you notice most of all during the difficult times, of which there have been a few during my time here.

I'd like to especially thank you for making up a song for me and you should know that every time I heard you singing it, it was like an extra injection of strength and motivation, even helping me to overcome pain occasionally during a game.

Your unconditional support is the thing that ensures that this team manages to pull through in the most difficult circumstances; and I can assure you that the whole squad is aware of this and thanks you for it.

A football club isn't just made up of players, coaches and directors. More than anything else it's the supporters who make a club, and that perhaps is the ingredient which best distinguishes Liverpool Football Club from every other team. The supporters.

Because if one thing has remained obvious to me after these few years, it's that with supporters like you, Liverpool Football Club will never walk alone.

I really hope that the club wins lots of major trophies in the future; I'll be following it all from a distance, with the pride that you can only get from having been a Red and played for the home team at Anfield -- a ground that every football fan must visit at least once in their life.

Thank you for everything. Yours most sincerely,

Your friend, Luís García

I just said the same thing above.... not because our players are poor but more because the system is still a work in progress and we're defending poorly. If we take our chances though who knows.

Watched the Chelski vs Stoke game. Oscar was the stand out for me but I think our Suso is a very similar player just a couple of years younger. If Suso can add goals to his game like BR suggested the other day surely he's a steal and for 25M less than Oscar. I'd like LFC to sort out the contract situations of Suso, Sterling and Agger pretty soon. What do you lads think?

Chi-Paul {Ed052's Note - I'm sure the first two will have deals tied up soon. Agger, we will wiat and see, but I would have thought so yes}

Would just like to cover a few points if you'll allow it eds.

1) Being Liverpool. Is filmed for the oversea's market. Meant to promote football and Liverpool. Won't lose us any fans but if it gains us just 1 extra fan it's been a success.

2) the ground- we need to start moving on this 1 way or another.

3) the owners - need to stop ending every statement blaming hicks and gillet for all that is wrong with the club.

4) January window - Rodgers needs deals done and dusted ASAP so all targets come in on the 1st jan. not scrapping out for players on the 31st.

Liverpool cabbie. {Ed052's Note - 1) I agree. 2) The owners are trying. 3) They haven't, they have accepting they've made mistakes. 4) Agreed. Thanks Cabbie}

Found it quite amusing on the documentary last night that Rodgers was saying how money has changed the game etc then we have a look around his mansion with a red ferrari outside, full length swimming pool, gym, self portrait etc etc.
Only Lucas looked anywhere near a normal down to earth person.
Rodgers is unbelievably flash. lol

MIKEY

Note to MIKEY. In case its not dawned on you yet becoming extremly wealthy relatively young would alter most folks perspective a bit. Especially growing up in the insulated world of football. I for one will not be holding living in big house, driving a flash car against the players or the manager.
If any of us were to manage Liverpool, imagine how big we'd puff our chest out. I would anyhow, probably change my walk a wee bit and start calling people son and saying wee all the time.
JohnBoy

His house was bloody nice though!

True, but he did seem to be a kind family man. Quite generous and humble to an extent.

He's a good man and genuinely care's about the club, it's fans, staff and the players.

He's a top man in my eyes.

Papa G

Lucas comes across has having humility & joe Allen seems a down to earth lad a good quality for anyone wishing to learn

Totally agree, BR is a bit flash. Let's hope he can back it up. Lucas looked really down to earth and Stevie came across as a real family man too. {Ed052's Note - I dont think he's flash. If you look at the program, all he talks about is respect, family friends and the fans. If he was flahs, he would say ''play for the money'' or alike. He was given the car by the club, and his signing on fee probably covered the house, it wasn't as flash as it could have been either. And Lucas looked like he lived in a mini house, but then you notice his child has Armani trousers on haha. Love how they played Monolpoly too. Maybe they could play with real money?}

I'm sure the back breaking pressure he is under by taking on the mammoth responsibility of rebuilding Liverpool back up under the spotlight of fans, haters and the media alike more than covers the luxury of a nice house and car!

I loved the monopoly bit where Suarez called his wife a thief lol..... Quality {Ed052's Note - that was hilarious. And didn't Shlevey go ''Meow'' doing Yoga?}

It dawned on me a few years ago John boy thanks I was just making the point.
Great documentary, although I have met most of the players tons of times I have never been to any of the houses.
Rodgers did get the porche from the club but the Ferrari was his, at least it was the right colour. Lol
That self portrait was horrendous though, he actually got that made by the looks of things. Haha

LeeWils {Ed052's Note - haha, I knew somebody went ''MEOW'' haha, it was. Jamie was hilarious. I also though Borini was funny, he looked petrified haha}

Alright Ed's, First post but read every day so thanks for your hard work.

My point and question relates to the goalkeeping situation.
I don't doubt Reina's qualities but he has been woeful for the best part of two years. That, in my mind, has to be down to either lack of competition or a desire to leave. (Any views on this?)
Doni has always been terrible. It's unbelievable that he was even signed.
As for Jones, the blokes had a tough time away from the game so I do sympathise. However, it has to be said that I am stunned he gets away with this as a profession.
Is there any chance Rodgers is looking around for a new first choice or at least a back up with enough quality to stretch Reina? {Ed052's Note - I hope we sign a replacement for Reina, he is getting worse and worse - it really just is not good enough. I think you are by far too harsh on Jones. I have been impressed by him when he plays, which is very rarely - so I would like to see him be given a few more chances.}

I think Jones is a decent shot stopper but his distribution is rather poor. If we were looking at a replacement, I think Adler or ter Stegen woild be nice.

Keith YNWA

From the little games Jones has played, i dont think he is that bad, he has made some good saves, the penalty is the one that everyone remembers i guess? but yeah, he still did concede a few, cant blame him for the europa games first goal though..

Kaizer

I'd have to agree with the original post - every time i've seen jones i've thought to myself how did he play 300 odd games at championship level and he looks lik an imposter with a pair of gloves then for us....nice guy but so is carragher and we're willing to admit his day (absolute legend) is done

Jones is shocking. Useless at crosses, poor distribution, poor decision making, poor kicking. In my honest opinion and I can take all the abuse, if he never had such problems off the field, which I truly sympathise with he would be gone a long time ago.

Anfield Andy, you said see what happens when you give a manager time relating to Moyes. So as to argue if Rodgers is given the same time he will achieve what Moyes has achieved. Moyes has achieved one champions league position and a cup final in 11 YEARS and has spent money aswell, fellaini 15mill yakubu 11mill billyletanov 9mill heitinga 9mill and a few others. So in summary you nugget moyes who has to my mind won zilch in 11 years (alex mcleish has won more in half the time spending less money) and you would like our manager to do aswell in the same time frame, that was your comparison. You are clueless lad.
But as you say your entitled to your opinion and I hope your right on the score tomorrow.

Waro

What about giving that time to wery but wery deserve on benitez

Regardless of you putting every signing that ever cost Everton a few quid under Moyes. If you don't belive that Moyes hasn't consistently helped our Bitter rivals punch well above their weight on a regular basis your more deluded then I thought. Your blind one sided arguments have gone from mildly amusing to downright dogrubbish my friend. Wind your neck in please and give us all a break from your bull.

Agreed! As much as i hate to say it,Moyes is class. IMO not many mangers could work on the shoestring budget he does!

Leam Red

Good, well observed post.

Personally, I found it a bit...........slow and boring,; more of an persons guide to LFC (think USA audiences). Even Clive Owen sounded cheesed off with the script he had to narrate.

The main feature was how cute and media savvy wee Brendan came across and whether future episodes see him cultivate this to his own personal gain or the Club's, maybe both. We have left ourselves open a bit (just like or defence) to criticism though and rest assured, other team's fans will be quick pounce on that.

PS
In response to earlier posts, said it before and will say it again; Reina is a good keeper but not a PL one, he's been found out. His style is more suited to Europe than the UK and he lets himself be bullied too much around the 6 yard box for a big man. His distribution is excellent as his his reading of the game but he needs to improve his goalkeeping basics like positioning and shot stopping plus he isn't the quickest getting down.

Not a premier league keeper, your talking guff mate.

Pepe looks a stone over weigh . Maybe he should concentrate on getting fit. Instead of celebrating spains success. As 3rd choice keeper.

United we stand divided we fall!! That is what us as fans stand for. I think over recent years all the press criticisms and FA bias has made us as fans question to much! I am all for constructive criticism but people now feel that every minor detail can be pulled apart and over analysed.

Lets do what we do best which is support and set ourselves apart from the average football fan.

David Brent! Rodgers is David Brent! He clearly reads stupid self help books etc. No one on this site should ever compare this Baffoon with Bill Shankly.

Whats wrong with self help books? You got a problem with reading as well?

Just ignore the stupid first post.
He obviously hasn't got a clue and most likely supports a team other than LFC.
Anyone can see BR is top-class and is going to be a major success.

Just seen a comment posted by WARO on a post I made n Sept 18th, and I have one thing to comment in return, you complete tool. You have a right to your opinion but seriously read a post thoroughly before you reply. I did not say lets be Everton and finish top 7. I said lets give Rodgers the support he needs and see where he can take us. The point was that if Moyes can take Everton from strugglers to top 6-7 then think about where Rodgers can take a top 5-7 team given support. He said he needs 3 transfer windows. The players this window have improved our first team.
Going for 1-0 to us tomorrow by the way.

22 Sep 2012 01:55:07
I'll not play blind to the absolute obvious that Pepe is suffering a dip in form but seriously the s**t he's getting is unreal.

Fans questioning last years form? He did not have any sort of defence in front of him all year and still only the top two conceded more. Yes there's been some mistakes early this year but look at the bigger picture, from inside 18 yards (and off the penalty spot) there's not a single keeper in the world better. He's not great on crosses (remember Beni got the best by telling him to punch hard and long) and now we don't play the long ball into space we don't see the best of his distribution skills. But this player is in a truly "World Class" bracket, without Casillas in the world his Medal count would be huge!

Form is temporary, class forever

Absolutely spot on.
ND

Disagree completely, defence wasn't too bad. Just like last week 1 shot on target 1 goal! He looks like he doesn't even try to get it and then looks to blame someone straight away. Once again another deluded fan, I bet you think carra's still got if too. Seriously though, look at the goals he concedes and it looks like he makes no effort.

Reina has been poor for a while. Time to get his act together or move to spain.

He's Now Lazy and self absorbed!!

Watched the first episode of "Being Brendan Rodgers" I am a bit worried about this program, I heard a lot of other clubs turned down the approach from Fox but we (the self promoting Henry / Warner / Rodgers) accepted
So much for the old Liverpool way, conducting our affairs behind closed doors

I just hope we are not setting ourselves up for a fall
For example
- the team talk for the West Brom game - then we get spanked 3-0
- FSG give Kenny a 3 year contact and £100m transfer funds and then say he was never part of our Long term plan
- BR talks up a big money move for Carroll and then sends him out on loan etc
- showing the fear and loss of confidence and wrong frame of mind - poor Lucas has after his serious injury - do we really want to expose that to the world !!

I would have preferred if the club made their own documentary and then only released after we made top 4 or won the bloody league

Only positives are the self promotion of henry / warner / ayre / Rodgers

After several weeks the documentary will start to pick up on the weaknesses and really pick up on any cracks or strains we might be under
Unless you control the program - these media folk will first big you up and then spit you out

Leam Red

It was clear Lucas was not physically or mentally ready to return to 1st team action so soon despite all the Kama Sutra positions the physio was trying out on him

It was clear by his own admission that Carra (and maybe other senior players) will find it hard to change the way they play and adopt the new BR style

It was clear what BR thinks of Flannigan - a simple player that can only tackle/block and give a simple pass - doesn't think he has the quality to attack

Gotta admit when someone went "meow" during the cat position in the yoga class- it was priceless !!
At the same time shows it will take time to change old ways of thinking
Just ask Giggs how he has benefitted from yoga

I can just see Evra asking Suarez during the game whether he fancies coming round his house on Sunday evening for a game of monopoly with him, welbeck and ferdinand
Leam Red

What station is it on and when cheers.

It's on Channel 5 on Fridays at 9pm(I think). I watched it, it was ok but I don't know, it just seems all a bit cringe really.

An exceptionally good post from Leam Red.
The quality of the football should do the talking, not some stupid media exercise.

Red red

I thought it was a very good documentary but the point you made on Kenny was very interesting. They said he wasn't part of the long-term plans so why give him all that money to spend building his own team?..When a new manager coming in would want his own players.

A question for the Eds - do you believe our owners intend to make Lfc a profit-making business, or just to reduce the annual losses?

cozinoz {Ed063's Note - They intend to make us as successful as possible mate. You don't make money buying a football club - you lose it. It's all about enjoyment, and then recouping as much money as possible if you do decide to sell.}

Have to disagree with the ed here. Although the owners will probably not make an annual profit from the club it is abundantly clear they have no intentions of subsidising the club.

Their aim is to maximise revenues and make the club self sufficient. The more the club earns the more it will spend.

However it value will increase. Therefore despite not making an annual profit the owners will make a substantial profit when they sell up.

Looking at Liverpool as an business they acquired the asset for £200m. It's currently valued by Forbes at 400m.

With an increased capacity of the new ground/ redeveloped anfield, increased tv revenue starting next season and massive new commercial deals. The clubs value will rocket.

In short the owners will sell up in a few years having quadrupled their money. {Ed063's Note - Fair enough that you disagree mate, it's good to have differing opinions. And yes they will sell the club for a lot more than they bought it for but the club is bleeding money. I seriously doubt they will make any profit at all, it will be all about recouping as much as they can.}

I remember Knighton kicking a ball around old trafford trying to get £25m to but them, now what are UTD worth? Get it right and there is huge money to be made. The Chelsea Model is poor it is a hobby, but if city were to dominate for a decade and their acadamy plans come off they to could become worth a lot more than the initial investment.
FSG are a sports investment buisness, they are not here to lose money, the question is are they here to reduce costs and see out the recession, selling us on later a kind of safe sporting fund, or do they intend to build us up and make big money in the long term? {Ed063's Note - I'm just giving my opinion}

Thanks Ed and others, appreciate the opinions. Just reading a book called Soccernomics - despite the dodgy title it is the best book I've ever read on the global business of football and explains a lot about the way transfers are done, FFFP, money all theories, etc.......and I'm only 3 chapters in. A lot of posters on here could cut the Eds some slack by having a read, but it also backs up Ed063s suggestion that football clubs are not profit-making businesses. It even goes as far as to suggest that a profit-making club has next to no chance of on-field success. Well worth reading.

cozinoz {Ed063's Note - John Henry said they weren't in it to make money and that no one gets into sporting business to make money. I'll have to have a look at that book though mate, it sounds like an interesting read}

I think it's obvious, that once a Keeper reaches a certain age (with the exception of Brad Friedel) :-) ...they seem to just completely lose it, and Reina is no exception. Come January, it's also a position we should strengthen.

Stevie.

I have to admit, as much as I have felt Reina has been a bit of a calamity lately the last thing I would blame it on is his age lol

Huws

Absolute and utter tosh! He has just turned 30 (young for a goalkeeper)...he is simply having a very bad year and fans like you guys who do not demand the same level of performance from yourselves in your own professional careers make outrageous demands whilst you character assassinate a person before they get a chance to improve.

Some people just cant see the 'Tongue In Cheek' factor in my original post... LOL :-) Ah well, worth a try.
