Ed you say Rogers lusts after the real and barce jobs if push comes to shove do you think he would leave Liverpool???

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea.}

Brendan hasn't signed up to a new contract yet. Is this something we should be concerned about?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - There may be interest in him from elsewhere and he has never hidden his desire to coach a major Spanish side.}

Ahh feck!

Fabio Coentrao is a decent player how serious is our interest

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - RTFP.}

23 Apr 2014 22:56:25
Would anyone else like to see Alberto start on Sunday? Think he's done well so far this season and would like to play 3 attacking midfielders if Sturridge is still out

Believable0 Unbelievable0

How has he done well if he hasn't even been on the bench much? I have liked what I've seen of him, but obviously BR hasn't been impressed enough in training to use him.

Agree0 Disagree0

When's our stadiums regeneration start date and finish date?
Will they play matches at anfield while it's being built because it's a big job to do in one summer

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Done to death. It won't be finished for about three years after starting.

Great idea!?

Lets change the team that has won 11 in a row and in a match that could knock out a teams title hopes. Fantastic

I would keep allen and lucas there to disrupt their counter attacks anf let the rest take care of itself.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Apr 2014 22:40:31
The new ground designs look good. i'm glad we are not moving from Anfield, the history the stadium has could not be replicated anywhere else. i'm not a fan of these "new rounded" stadiums such as the Emirates, City of Manchester and Wembley, to me these rounded stadiums seem to lack atmosphere, the traditional grounds with separate stands always seem to generate the better atmospheres coming from the "main stand behind the goal".

The outside looks great with a concourse for the fans to gather, imagine European nights with the fans gathering outside singing and dancing, would be fantastic!

I only have one problem with the new designs. Listening to Ayres comments they are planning on making a "new wider tunnel". It may sound petty but I don't think we should change the tunnel. How many opposition players and managers have commented in the past (especially the europeans) how the small, tight, narrow, claustrophobic, up and down tunnel adds to the atmosphere to intimidate opponents, walking down the small passage with the loud roar coming from the end of it, you can even sometimes see players faces on the TV as they line up in that tunnel, its part of Anfield, part of our history - I know it may seem nothing but I personally think that shouldn't change!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agreed
Leave the tunnel as it is
Well said

Agree0 Disagree0

One thing I would also like to see. On the concourse, when tickets are sold out, why not have big screens. For all the local kids who can't afford to get in.

Would be fantastic to build the atmosphere inside aswell.

Agree0 Disagree0

RedWalt, I also think the plans look pretty awesome, as for the tunnel, I am sure I read an article a while ago that UAFA insist on wider tunnels or even two separate tunnels if a club wants to host European finals etc, prob something to do with health and safety as per usual. Think the club is just "future proofing" things while the stand is undergoing its expansion.

Agree0 Disagree0

I like both ideas. The tunnel and the big screens outside. I read somewhere that Man City are planning a 'Man City village' with big screens, bars, restaurants etc immediately outside the stadium - but INSIDE the [Man City village] and they would charge fans to enter the village on match days. Where we planning something similar?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - You are getting a little ahead of yourself here.}

How can they possibly do this? maybe for early and late kick offs but not the 3pm satursday ones surely?
Also won't the pubs and bars etc have something to say about it?

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Apr 2014 22:09:29
ed2 how are you? Liverpools new partnership with subway hearing its 3-4 million a season?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It is of no relevance at all.}

23 Apr 2014 21:44:36
Hey folks,

just been reading and having a look at the new Anfield expansion plans - looks promising and I think basically what the regeneration has been promising since its conception.

I am curious though: after the initial expansion of the Main Stand and the Anfield Road End what other scope is there for a further incease in capacity (should the owners decide it is in our interests)? I heard it mentioned that the corners would perhaps be "filled in" (excuse the technical term) which could lead to a total capacity of around 65,000 - does anybody know whether an expansion of either the Centenary or the Kop would be possible at some point in future? Or are there outstanding problems (nearby properties, construction difficulties, etc) that would make such action unviable?

I'm not suggesting any of this stuff is essential rather i'm very interested in the expansion potential of the stadium and how far we might be able to take it in years to come.

Cheers for any responses offered.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Anything over 60k will hit the club financially as they have to contribute to infrastructure.}

Gotcha ed. I will infer then that, though further expansion could be possible, it would be economically unviable and as a result serve no purpose.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - This has been done to death in recent years. You want it laid down - the club CANNOT afford it.}

Ed I mentioned infrastructure in my post, what's the score with this, any improvements planned?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Where would the club get the money from?}

Excuse my ignorance eds but does that money that goes towards the stadium affect us in the fair play rules? Also does our owners have enough to fork out that much considering were still losing so much?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I have no interest in further confusing you all by talking about money.}

The capacity announced has been said to be a "sweet spot" where it doesn't incur MASSIVE costs the club can't afford, but gets the most out of what they can do.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I would not say that - it sounds like LFC or the owners are ripping off the City of Liverpool - and I don't see that happening.}

24 Apr 2014 07:32:27
How many eds are there I have seen at least 7 I think?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it varies, there have been over 40, but some can no longer edit, for various reasons, there are about 10 or so currently editing regularly.}

23 Apr 2014 21:26:47
Hi Ed's,

On LFC main site they've put the stadium plans up including increasing the main stand by 8, 500 seats. Do you know if this increases the corporate boxes etc. significantly?

The pictures i've seen do look good.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Corporate hospitality will increase but the club cannot get the income from it that they would like and the bulk go to sponsors.}

23 Apr 2014 20:44:14
ed2 did you put my post up?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea man.}

23 Apr 2014 20:33:15
Anyone else concerned about Rodgers lack of European experience?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Yes, Barcelona have that concern.}

No, I'm not.

The reason is because he doesn't have a lack of European experience. I was more concerned about his lack of premier league experience. He's a student of the game, he knows what he's doing.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hear he's spent the last 7 years for his hols in one country or another, plus he speaks Spanish.

That's more than enough in my experience!

Agree0 Disagree0

Mate, if we play the same style of football that we have played this season then we will be ok in Europe, think we will need 3/4 squad players added in the summer but think we can get to knock out stages, then anything can happen .there won't be many wanting to come to ANFIELD on a European night I bet .BR is starting to show his knowledge of football and he knows a fair bit about Europe top league as well .

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed are barca still interested in Rodgers?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I spent some time with an ex Barcelona player who is now in the media earlier today and he says that after the rejection of Klopp his name has come up for discussion. If Real Madrid make a managerial change this summer - they too might offer up a two year deal and see how it runs. Quite frankly, I am not so sure he is the one for those jobs, it is a whole different paradigm, but one he lusts after.}

In my opinion the key is to make sure we qualify for CL next season. Winning the league this year would be amazing - our first of the EPL era, and of course our first in 24 years. It will be hugely significant, if we win it this year and again next year, this one will be the one remembered for years to come. The way I see it, looking at our financial situation, we won't benefit financially this year from our achievements, so our signings again will be along the lines of Sturridge and Coutinho, rather than Falcao, Kroos, Cavani or any of the other superstars people seem to think we are going to sign. I know it's looking far ahead, but I'd be happy for us to reach the knockout stages and make a real challenge for the EPL again. When our finances are looking healthier, we can actually compete, by which time Brendan will have some experience of the competition. The rebuilding of the club will be a slow process and we are ahead of schedule with challenging for the title and everything, but in order to compete in Europe, it won't only be about having the first 11 to compete, but a deep enough squad to handle the increased number of games. Getting back into the CL is just the first step. If we keep progressing at this level it will only be a few seasons before we be a force in Europe, but in order to ensure that we need to make sure we tread carefully. We won't just go back into the CL and instantly compete with the big guns. It sounds negative, and there is no reason to be at the moment because this season has been amazing for us, I just feel Brendan will need experience in the competition in order to make a real challenge, and the key to this will not be going all out to win it first attempt, we first need to establish our place back in the top 4 on a consistent basis. I hope this makes sense, and doesn't come across like I'm dashing our chances before we've even kicked a ball in Europe. I'd love it if we won it straight away, I just don't think we will be in a position to make a serious challenge next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well, he had a lack of Premier League experience. didn't seem to harm him too much.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not at all. He seems intelligent and willing to learn so even if he makes mistakes he will do what he has to in order to rectify them.

I have faith in his abilities!

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't know, did it affect bob Paisley?

Just seen the artists impression of the redevelopment and have to say it looks impressive. I was just wondering if there are there plans to improve the transport infra structure.

Need a monorail, train line, tube or worse case scenario specific buses and bus lanes from the ground

Any thoughts on the proposed Anfield expansion pictures the club has put out today?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Does it involve the east of Ukraine?

Agree0 Disagree0

Looks the business to me

Agree0 Disagree0

I like the clubs approach, not going out and building a 100k seater stadium and bankrupting the club.
Softly softly catchy monkey. Develop main stand and Anfield road end first.

Main things are there, the plans are a good start.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - That was never an option. You want the Hartlepool page for the monkey question - and any Smurf related questions you have.}

Very impressed by art work, but it's more about improving finances for our club so as long as it looks ok and sounds as good as now on the inside I not bothered .it will only get louder

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks Ed, I don't have any Smurf related questions, but it's interesting you bring it up.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I was there that day in London - everything went wrong. My first and third wife and I took the daughter of a buddy of mine from New England and her new husband for a meal in London. Afterwards we arranged to meet my eldest daughter in a well known and quite nice pub in Covent Garden. When we got there, it was full of completely wasted Smurfs (I think Hartlepool had played Charlton) which was barely manageable before my eldest daughter turned up with her friends - all of which were also completely wasted.}

Once the two stands in question have been developed, is there scope to develope the further two? and if so to what kind of maximum capacity

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - 60k.}

Ed 02 I was at that game! One of the best days out I have had dressed as a smurf and yes there has been others haha

That Coentrao, chap, doesn't look a bad player! I suspect he may be out of our price range!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I don't think he would be.}

Refreshing to hear your opinion, Ed. Many thanks for your reply. Given me optimism.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - If Liverpool are interested he would be a very viable option. For: A decent player. Against: He dyes his hair and is covered in tattoos.}

In my opinion he should be the LB we make a real effort to sign, he plays Brendan's kind of football, and probably wouldn't cost anywhere near what Benfica got for him when he signed for RM.

Agree0 Disagree0

What do you think Ed, 10-12m?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I really don't want to confuse you about money.}

Apparently available for 12 million and well worth a look.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - So tell us what that number means? What is paid by the buying club would typically include:
(a) Transfer fee - the big number.
(b) Any levy applied by the local FA – 5% for the EPL.
(c) Tax due on the transfer fee – typically this will be VAT (at varying rates across Europe) some or all of which should be reclaimable.
(d) Agent fees – this may be to one or more agents (as an example, Liverpool have spent £25M plus VAT on agent fees over the past three years leading to this window).
(e) Tax due on the agent fees – typically this is VAT at the local rate where the agent bills from – it is not reclaimable.
(f) Intermediary fees – this may be to one or more sponging leeches(what do you mean you have a super agent?) .
(g) Tax due on the Intermediary fees – typically this is VAT at the local rate where the Intermediary bills from – it is not reclaimable.
(h) Signing on fee to the player (possibly including non-reclaimable VAT if the player is VAT registered).
(i) Legal fees.
(j) VAT on legal fees which is reclaimable.
(k) Moving/relocation costs for the player.
(l) VAT on moving/relocation costs which is reclaimable.
(m) Paying up insurance costs to the selling club (sometimes waived).
What do you mean you have a Super Agent.

Youre not one for a bit of lemon juice in your hair then ed. With the names of both wives on either arm? Oh and the customary love and hate on the knuckles?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Unless lemon juice can be used to polish what is on top it will not help as there is little there. I would not want it on my pigtails nor any of my two or three wives (depending how you count).}

Ed, I suppose as part of the deal to buy him we could seek the very best cosmetic surgery there is, and have the said mentioned tats removed. Also, it would surely be within the realms of our legal people to draw up a contract that stipulated that he couldn't go near a bottle of hair dye!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed2 surely Kirikou could sort any hair problems out?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - He always wants to take it further.}

Fantastic season so far, hats off to Brendan, the staff and players. Champions league back at Anfield how I have missed that anthem. 3 massive games left, just keep hitting that onion bag lads and do it for Stevie. that's my spiel for now.

Just quick question for the eds in general this summer, do ye expect much transfer activity before or after the world cup or is it too early to say yet?

Thanks a mill

Sell the players we don't need to fund 2 we do need. Try get club breaking even or maybe even a profit next year.

"There is no question we always expected that the squad we need for next season will be very different to the squad that we have needed for this year when we were not playing in Europe"….From Ayre's mouth not mine

but if you didn't grasp the quote…In layman's terms the squad will get a face lift.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Must give a real boost to the players at the club now. Should have kept his mouth shut.}

I agree with Ed can't believe he came out to announce firstly funds for bigger players but also with the current squad doing so well.

I'd have preferred us to carry on the route of "we need to be working within our means" etc.

Clubs might try and jack the bid up more now due to these comments.

Agree0 Disagree0

Would have to agree that the statement from Ayre was, at best, very poorly constructed.

Agree0 Disagree0

At best what he's done is drive the price up of people we want to sign only. I imagine it's a real kick in the teeth for the players we have at the moment. We always knew money would be spent though guys, this doesn't change anything. Also before you exclusively slag off Ayre you should note that Rodgers said similar things today, only that he did it a tad more surreptitiously.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he is stating the obvious. There is no way this squad could compete on 2 fronts.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bit of a daft thing to say.

"Hey guys we need to buys a lot"

Supply and demand laws kick in.

The player that was £5m is now £10m.

Plus the current players will now know where they stand . near the door.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Apr 2014 07:31:00
Ed02 i'm sure he didn't mean there will be an overhaul. but it's true we haven't been playing in Europe this season and you have to set yourself up to be able to cope with the demands of next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Apr 2014 07:31:21
Ed02, What on Earth is going on here? Ayre has made an announcement which stupidly raises the expectation of the fans, as witnessed here, but worst of all it undermines the current players to a massive extent. What is he playing at with 3 games to go? A dissatisfied bench is just what we don't need.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I agree, it was dumb.}

24 Apr 2014 16:18:17
Come on guys, a little perspective maybe?
Ok very dumb thing to say, but I hardly doubt the other clubs in Europe are hanging on Ayres every word, just waiting to push the price up by £500,000 every time he speaks are they?
As Ed02 would say, not everything revolves around Liverpool.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi all the Eds and fellow Reds

Jose was anticipating an FA charge and his playacting did not deter the FA in piling up the pressure on Chelsea.
Ramirez will be out 3-4 games (did he really think he'd get away with it?), they will be sending out a so-called 'weakened' side which will still be a hell of a side.
It's a pity, because Chelsea would get blitzed whatever side Jose fields.
We will win our last three game. The Palace game that everyone's worried about, we will by three or four goals. Palace will want to come to us and will get ripped apart, mark my words.

Have no fear fellow reds. We didn't wake up this morning and found ourselves top of the league. We deserve to be there, period!
I know it's hard to stop speculating about new players but do bear in mind we have a fantastic first team, even our youngsters like Flanno will be even better next year so please go easy on speculating about who's coming or who's going. And please at least try and get your valuations as realistic as possible!
All said, here's to three wins!

And To All the Eds: thank you so much for your efforts in upkeeping this site. We all are forever grateful.

Many thanks. YNWA

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - The FA have not put any pressure on Chelsea.}

This 'Weakened side' will have matic and lamp are in the midfield, probably with luiz, if ivanovic goes to cb, I think Salah will start, with either oscar or willian on the other side, and ba or Torres up top. That's not exactly a weak side, despite them missing key players! I may be wrong, but I can't see who else he can play except azpilacueta, cole and Cahill at the back, unless he brings in some youth? that's a strong, organised side in my books, may prove difficult to break down!

Agree0 Disagree0

"Palace will want to come to us and get ripped apart, mark my words".

Explain please mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dagenham I think he means CP will attack pretty hard and we will counter goals for fun. if i'm not misstaken.

Agree0 Disagree0

Whats the charge on jose been sarcastic I didn't know they had a no sarcasm rule in rule book I thought even though he was been a poor loser he worded his interview in a way that he wouldn't get charged he never really said a bad word just sarcastically congratulated the referees not that i'm fussed but i'm suprised jose got charged the other 2 guilty as hell

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh yeah, thanks Chris, lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why so sure? Pulis' sides are very disciplined and extremely hard working. He's not stupid enough to attack us mate full throttle as we have a habit of destroying teams who do. Maureen is just playing mind games and I would hate to think it's working, as if he will play a second string side unless he was forced to.

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought for one moment that I actually saw Wiilian starting to tire yesterday. He got caught in possession a few times and gave the ball away.
Hope he has another one like that on Sunday

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Apr 2014 18:20:21
I can see a few lists of players are starting to pop up.
Why would anybody change what we have right now? We are top and favourites for the title, any changes should be kept to a minimum. Bring back borini, suso and illori and sell agger or skrtle. Sell Enrique and replace with a like for like and bring in a left winger. Sorted. We shouldn't and don't really need to spend a lot of money at all.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Mike, do you honestly think with the minor changes you suggest, we will push on and make a challenge in the Champions League? I don't think so mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes Rome, bringing back the loan players I mentioned bulks the team up by 3, add 3 new players and that's 6. Fill in anymore gaps with youngsters and that will do for me. We shouldn't be planning for going the whole way in every competition. We could get knocked out early in all competitions and be stuck with a massive squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Apr 2014 17:37:40
Hi Eds and reds, with regard to today's poll, what are your opinions of our youth keepers, Ryan Crump, Andrew Firth, Yusuf Mersin, Danny Ward and Ryan Fulton? Are any of them possibilities for a back-up spot next season? Would be interested in Simon's (sorry can't remember your full user name, but who provides excellent updates on the youth team matches) and Ed001's (if you're around) opinion in particular, but also anyone who watches the acadamy matches regularly. With the club needing to and wanting to utilise the academy to provide depth and save money, as well as it being difficult to recruit anyone who is going to be prepared to spend the majority of the season on the bench are any of these realistic options? Cheers.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

23 Apr 2014 16:00:22
I can see ourselves and city drawing the next two, then us smashing Newcastle last game of the season winning the league in front of the home fans.

Whilst also setting a goal record for most team goals in a season.

A carlsberg moment

Believable0 Unbelievable0

23 Apr 2014 17:05:58
I really really hope not, my heart can't take it. I hope we win the league by beating Chelsea and Palace. If you rely on City dropping points, we might just loose it on goal difference to them.

Agree0 Disagree0

You are kidding mate, we'll destroy Chelski on Sunday be it with their Strong or so call weakened team. The game I am afraid of is the game against Palace.

Agree0 Disagree0

You can almost gurantee we will do it in the most difficult way possible. Last kick of the Newcastle game will be a title winner I bet you. It's almost written in the stars to be a Gerrard 35 yard screamer as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope our players don't start thinking this will be a relatively easy game.
I wouldn't take anything for granted against Chelsea, ever.
They are a tough and organised team to break down, with some fantastic players who can create chances from nothing.

Look at the way we struggled against Norwich's much more modest attacking talents when they put some pressure on us, and then imagine it is Oscar or Willian bearing down on our goal instead.

Don't get me wrong, I will be over the moon if we pull it off, but I have a feeling that getting a win this weekend will be the biggest test of the season so far.

I just hope the players can get themselves up for it, and put in the performance of the season, because you can bet Chelsea will probably be strong, determined and clever, from start to finish.
If we are going to be champions, this is another big test where we must stand up and be counted.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Apr 2014 15:54:17
Just hope the board choose there transfers wisely, we have a lot of youth coming through and personally I don't want it to stop them.

Just think if Kono had signed would sterling have got the same game time?

I think we need a LB but surely flanno has done enough to warrant a place at RB.

We need an experienced CB we have ilori for cover.

Suso coming back to push coutinho also.

Ibe can only be a season or two away until he's competing for a place.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Complete agree mate. and I have complete trust in BR and FSG.
on top of that, would love yesil to get over his injuries and breakthrough next year and provide backup for our dynamic duo. cheers

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Apr 2014 17:13:49
That is not how it works that is naive. A true squad works by the youth players pushing out players that are already in the squad. You do not under any circumstances leave gaps so that a youth player may or may not make it. The kid fights for his place with the experienced player & this not only pushes on the kid but also the experienced pro. That is how a proper squad works.

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought our squad wasnt up to it when henderson and sturridge were missing and god help us if we lost suarez and gerrard but I think its a case of not being able to replace them full stop. the more I look at the squad, loanes and youth the less I think we need

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Apr 2014 15:43:36
Hi Eds
How many players do you think we will have to recruit in the summer to have a squad capable of competing in the Premier League the Champions league and the 2 domestic cups.
Here is my view on the situation.
Moses will return to Chelsea
Cissokho will return to Spain
Aspas to be sold £5M
Toure to be released
Assaidi to stoke £2m
Coates to be sold £3m
Reina to be sold £6m
Borini to be sold £8m
Kelly to be sold €2m
Wisdom to be sold £3m
So approximately £30 in player sales with the supposed £60 kitty reported in the media that BR will be handed.
So I believe Liverpool will spend around £100 million on player recruitment this summer.
With 4 players on the list above and and with us needing to increase the size if the squad and quality of it too, I can see us trying to bring in 7 - 8 players this summer.
What's your thoughts on this?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I have no such thoughts but I am sure others will have. Would being kicked out of the Champions League for repeatedly ignoring the FFP rules in the following year bother you?}

Aspas yes
Toure no
Assaidi yes
Coates yes
Reina yes
Borini maybe loan
Kelly no
Wisdom loan

2-3 players in will do me then use kids in the cups.

If we win the league I think the main objective next year is to make sure we get CL football again.

Agree0 Disagree0

We ain't going to spend 100 million bruv. we're not going to do another spuds. I doubt toure will leave, and you won't find a more experienced back-up player than him. borini has been impressive and should be given a chance. I think kelly and wisdom will stay, especially the latter, or only leave on loan. rest need to go

Agree0 Disagree0

7 or 8 new recruits?
I think this is a time for consolidation. Give youth a chance. Loan players returning. The last thing we need to do is splurge a load of cash. Look how that worked for us last 20 years. And Spurs proved again that this isn't a good policy.
I think we will take stock. And possibility add a couple of additions where the team requires strengthening; notably left back and possibly attacking midfielder. For me that's it unless something special comes up.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Apr 2014 16:39:53
Worst post ever. Ever I tell you.

Toure released? OMG, His experience is invaluable! He is going absolutely no where.

Assaidi sold for 2 million? Why? We bought him for 3 and if anything he would cost at least £ 5 million.

Sell Borini? Why, I would certainly keep him, he is exactly the type of player that fits the way we try to press teams.
I think you misunderstand what a squad means.
Why on earth would we let both kelly and Wisdom go? We need them and it's absolutely useless to sell them for scraps and replace them with expensive crap.

We only need 3-4 players who can go straight into the line-up no need in spending millions on Alberto, Aspas and Ilori and never using them!

I would be absolutely shocked and very disappointed and sad if we ruined our squad by buying a lot of nonsense.

LB, a box to box midfielder and a wide forward who can play both sides. Bring back Wisdom, Suso, Borini and we're sorted! Don't know why ayre opened his mouth to raise the expectations of the FM and fifa fantasy world generation. Those are who predicted Spurs will win the league because they bought 7 players highly rated on football manager games. This is the real world, so please wake up!

Agree0 Disagree0

Spending £100M this summer? I'd be amazed if our net spend was over £20M-£30M.

Agree0 Disagree0

Losing 10 players of a title winning squad, and getting 7-8 in, how is that improving our strength in depth? Borini won't be sold I doubt, no point selling toure as he can do a job and only has one year left anyway! And why is kelly in euros? I think we will sell Coates, Reina, and assaidi, return the loans, and bring i'm 2-3 tops, unless a few young players are bought for the future!

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair a lot of them have either not played at all this season, been loaned out, has minimal gametime or been injured for most of the campaign.

A number of players could leave this summer who fit the above.

J. Reina. Although I think 4 million.
J. Robinson.
S. Coates.
K. Toure. Free or minimal (we have tonnes of experience).
M. Kelly (I think will be loaned).

A. Wisdom. I think will leave. I know he's liked but he's too small for centre half to me, and with Flannaghan, Kelly and Johnson he's not going to get games.

O. Assiadi. Although I think 5 million.
C. Coady.
I. Aspas.
M. Ngoo.

That's almost a full team but only Toure has contributed to this season at all.

I still think one of Agger or Skrtle will be sold. Not knowing how much we have. I would like us to look at the below as options. Not buy all of them just that I'm hopeful our 4-5 signings will come from this group of players.

F. Coentroa.
A.Moreno.

X. Shaqiri.
I. Munian.

Y. Konoplyanka.
J. Iturbe.

One from each group would massively improve us along with a young keeper and whoever else is available.

We also still have Suso, Ilori and Teixera to break through next season.

If the club is in such a mess financially then why are we bothering to discuss spending millions on new recruits (not to mention the money to pay them).
As fans should not our major concern be that the club are prudent with regard spending?
Subsequently, should we not be encouraging the return and development of our young and improving loan players?
Where did we get this talked about transfer budget/figure of £60 million from. ?
For me, we've done so well this season that our focus should be on financial stability. Particularly so since we are in the very fortunate position of having a top quality first team - and an excellent crop of young players coming through.
Financial stability will allow us to grow and develop at an appropriate pace. It will allow us to look at the development / expansion of our stadium - and to kick on and progress generally in other areas from there.
Brendan Rodgers is the man to oversee much of this IMO as he can coach and develop talent.
On the pitch we have a young team which perhaps puts us in a position to be able to undertake this much needed expansion work and lay the foundations from where we can kick on and perhaps in a few years time (with Anfield expanded) compete financially with the United's, the Chelsea's and the Munichs etc.
Is this notion too sensible for the whacky world of football?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Spot on mate, fortunately for us, FSG seem to have a reasonably rational approach to our long term future and seem to have learnt quickly how do handle the club financially and sustainably. Long may it continue.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is not sustainable - it has to change.}

Just meant that they appear to be trying to (slowly admittedly) improve on it Ed. We must surely be making some progress in reducing the deficit of income/outgoings? I know you've repeatedly stated about how much the club is losing, but gradually accruing a younger squad on predominantly lower wages, bought at cheaper prices (compared to established "pro's") and hiring a coach that is capable of working with and improving those younger players. Whilst increasing our global marketing revenue must be starting to make some difference?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No the haemorrhaging of money has been consistent at £1M per week since the owners took over. The figures for this financial year (published next February will see an improvement and the year after that we will see what difference the CL makes. We ignore talk of money as it confuses most of the fans. The focus will be clearing the debt the club now has.}

Ed, surely the new TV money for the premiership should make us financially stable. FFP isn't a huge concern as far as I can tell with Liverpool since the stadium related costs are no included and the new TV money and any money from the Champions league we get this upcoming season will help up balance the books no?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - This is why we don't discuss money - you simply don't understand.}

Help us understand? I'm sure I can grasp the numbers I studied economics and accounting at university and have a job in finance. All we have to go by are what the newspapers tell us which is why I asked the question. Does the money come in parts and is some of it noncontributable towards FFP for example? Or are has FSG used gearing so most money that comes in has to go towards paying interest?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I have explained before what is in and out of FFP. The debt is manageable but gradually sneaking up as the owners cannot afford to keep throwing money in to a hole.}

I think the ethos of the original post ed was exactly that we should 'change'. And focus on bringing through young players while simultaneously developing and scouting talent. The ethos is that we should move away from spend, spend, spend. And thus find a better, more sustainable method of operating.
I think Bruce was stating his acknowledgement and agreement of this point also.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is a balance.}

Can I offer a suggestion about the "Liverpool Poll of the Day"?

You have had 36 people vote so far, but given the amount of folks who come to this site on a daily basis, you could get a better hit if it is not in a arcane position on the page.

I don't think many folks have noticed the Poll as it's too high up on the page.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - it is still only being tested at the moment mate. We are trying to run a different poll on each of our sites, but it has caused a few headaches getting this far. There are still a number of sites without one yet. The final position on the page might well change and the look of it, once it is up and running properly.}

I wasn't aware of it till you mentioned it. then I had to type ctrl FSG to find it.
Good poll question though

Agree0 Disagree0

How do I do that on an iPhone?

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with the post, I didn't even realize it was there, i've just voted and it showed that 140 people apparently have now voted. (just for an update nearly 5 hours later.)

Hi eds
Just wanted to ask anyone who is around
you guys have told that Sevilla are looking for a lot of money for Rakitic but aren't they supposed to be in financial trouble? Any idea why they are holding out and not cashing in

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - because they need to keep certain key players to increase their income by finishing as high in the league as possible. Someone like Rakitic, who is not on ludicrous money, is happy playing for the club, and is a fan favourite, is one of those key players. Those you only sell for a lot of money. Enough to replace them and put money towards paying off debt.}

Thanks ed

Agree0 Disagree0

Is it true he only has 14 months left on his contract? Surely this has some effect on whether they are under pressure to cash in. Can they afford to turn down, say, £15m this summer and for him to go for free the following year?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - they agreed a new contract with him, I don't know why it has not been signed yet, but that would make a massive difference.}

Hi Eds, Reds and Neg's

I can remember when FSG took over Liverpool and Henry said something along the lines off "We will make Liverpool champions in the next 5 years"
I didn't think for one moment that would happen but five years on and look where we are.
While nothing is won yet, this is the closest we've been in decades.

I think if we beat Chelsea its all over as even if we draw at Palace our home record is fantastic so I'd expect us to beat Newcastle.

When Rogers first took over I thought he didn't have the experience to do the job expected at Liverpool, how wrong I was.
I'm not saying we'll win or its going to be easy but what ever happens I just thought I'd say what a fantastic job the manager, the back room staff and FSG have done so far.

The players should also get a mention as they've worked hard and gelled together as a team. Bare in mind we have one of the youngest teams in the league, the best under 21 team and the best fans in world football.

I'm working Sunday until 1:30 so its home, surround sound on full blast, blinds down and four Guinness for me.
To all you lucky fans who are going on Sunday, if its half the atmosphere as the city game, we will win.

Dare to dream, I've dreamed of nothing else

YNWA

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think this post encapsulates the sentiment of many of us simple fans: things are going well; top of the league; enjoying it.
Magical. I have plans for something similar Sunday also.
(I will also have my phone at the ready to text my Manchester United and Chelsea supporting friends should things continue to go well - and thoroughly enjoy how the tables have turned).

Agree0 Disagree0

Chelsea will play the best team available. Cech, Rameris, Terry, Hazard will not play as they are unfit or suspended. Jose will then use this as an excuse to his failingz. Ivanovic, Asplequeta, Cahill and Cole to start in defence not 2nd string.

Mikel, Lampard, Oscar, Schurle in midlfield. Not 2nd string. Then Ba and Torres maybe. Either way how he plays it, it won't be 2nd string.

I hope Jose gets sacked for winning nothing and they get moyes in. In moyes we trust.

Agree0 Disagree0

Henry said they wanted to win the title by 2013, and if we win it this year he's right in theory as it's the 13-14 season.

Agree0 Disagree0

No matic quigz?

Agree0 Disagree0

Expectations were so low for Rodgers that he has had time to build a team and a bad season or horendus result dosen't get as much abuse as say Moyes at United or the Barcelona manger Martino

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Apr 2014 12:15:07
There isn't a chance that Jose will field a weakened team against us on Sunday. He will be going out all guns to get a result. Good old Jose thinking of the next game as soon as one finishes, probably had this planned for the past fortnight.anyone agree?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Jose will put eleven players on the field, all internationals (I suspect). If we play Everton, Rotterham, Man City or the Chelsea Z team, it's about our own performance and attitude.

Good luck to the squad and management on Sunday. The progress this season has been fantastic.

Agree0 Disagree0

That it has JAG. Even at this stage we still take it one game at a time. A win on Sunday will just mean there are another two games we need to win after it. Another way to look at it Chelsea's reserve players would prob finish top end of the EPL.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Apr 2014 11:43:04
For once Jose won't in my view be parking the bus on Sunday.

He will go all out attack - he has nothing to lose but go for a win.

His side will be strong and so I don't expect a cagey game.

Hendo will be missed but we need to do all we can to win.

Palace is the game I'm worried about . I still remember 4-3 many years ago in the FA Cup and at the moment they're on a roll.

One game at a time tho' as we have won nothing yet.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

23 Apr 2014 12:07:35
City also have palace and Everton away, could easily be 2 draws.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't see Chelsea attacking until the second half. They will park the bus in the first and hope to be still in the game at the break.

Agree0 Disagree0

They will know that we try to blitz teams in the first 20-30 minutes. We usually get at least a goal by then and then we just defend. Chelsea will try to defend for the first 20 and will counter whenever they can. They have a lot of pace with Hazard, Willian and Salah but are the best defensive side in the PL.

I think we will need to be pressing and aggressive for 90 minutes.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we win on Sunday, Chelsea are out of it and the pressure on City on Monday will be immense. There is nothing more than a win against Chelsea that the lads should be focused on - the rewards for winning that one game are huge, the penalty for losing the game is not catastrophic - what a wonderful position to be in!

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Apr 2014 11:05:51
Edd001, I hope if our targets are attainable this summer, ayre can see them through this time?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he is not the only person dealing with transfers at the club, he is also not at fault for the club being unable to fund big moves due to the way it is losing money. I do think the club need to work hard on the PR angle, as he has become a scapegoat after a poor start in the role. Since then, he has been given help and shown the intelligence to learn and grow into his new position. Missing out on key transfers is no longer about him making mistakes, though I am sure he will still make a few, he is human after all. They tell me you mere humans can often make mistakes.....}

23 Apr 2014 11:02:15
Greg what a ridiculous post. I hope we don't spend that amount. We don't need that amount or more?! We need a quailty LB and attacker/midfielder with the loanees to come back. These posts are beginning to get on my nerves. Support the team thats.winning' atm!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agreed, we need 2 quality signings at LB and in midfield and the returning on loan players will further strengthen the squad

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree left back box to box predominitly attacking loanees coming back leaves room for say Toure Moses Cissoko Assaidi Reina and a few others to leave

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry Eds forget my last questoin I just used the search engine.

I only asked because he's free and experienced but we don't need a flawed keeper, we need a reliable one. Personally I just think Mignolet doesn't look assured and while that might improve next season along with our defence I can't get away from the feeling that he could do with some serious competition or back-up.

Don't you agree?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - not convinced on that, keepers seem to work best when they are assured of being number 1. Probably because so much of their game is based on confidence, more so than any other position on the field.}

Hey ed 001 was thinking whether you could set up a poll on whether Liverpool need to buy a backup keeper this summer or not?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - there are far more important things for the club to spend money on than a player to sit on the bench week in and week out! Sometimes I worry about the modern day fan, they seem to think clubs need 8 world class players for every position! Meaningless poll is done for you though: http://www.liverpool-rumours.co.uk/poll17.html

Thanks for the poll ed
I myself think that we don't need a new gk but given the amount of posts asking for a backup thought it would be worth a poll but sorry if it caused you any trouble

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - no trouble mate, I just don't understand the need for one. It is a position that is very rarely required and very few clubs ever have a really good back up. No keeper of real quality will sit on the bench every week unless they are either very young or very old.}

Ed what is your opinion on Danny Ward? Is he seen as a future first team player?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - young keepers are the most difficult to judge, he does look to have the ability but needs a bit of work on his positioning. The jury is still out on him, from what I have been told it will be about getting him a loan move to take a proper look at him.}

I agree Eds the ideal back-up keeper is the next 19 year old Casillas/Szczesny/Hart

Anyone know who's out there that could be just that?

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Apr 2014 10:39:23
Maureenyo's mind games have begun.

"Jose Mourinho will consider picking a weakened team when Chelsea travel to Premier League leaders Liverpool on Sunday" "I can't decide by myself. I'm just the manager. I have to listen to the club."
He will put out a really strong team, what an ar**

Believable0 Unbelievable0

23 Apr 2014 10:25:38
Reports suggests Rogers has been given £60m to spend. Is this really enough to continue this seasons success. We missed out on the players we really wanted because we didn't have CL football. Now we have we need to spend big and get them. Also with more matches next season we need to strength the squad to protect the inevitable injuries that will come along with it. Surely £60m is not enough

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Oh my God, give it a rest please. The club isn't exactly in the financial position we'd like. I am sure money will still be made available, on a case by case basis, where signings are deemed necessary. Let us not get over-zealous; but trust in the club hierarchy, particularly Brendan Rodgers, who has proved, and continue to prove themselves capable of running this great institution.

Agree0 Disagree0

60 million plus sales is grate we are losing money look at the reports of man city breaching the fair play rules we will probably be next in the media maybe people will get of fifa and realise what's going on

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you serious, Greg? How much is enough? I was assuming we would buy 2 or 3 players and spend less than 20m. We won't be spending 60 million quid guarenteed.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think so definatly

GK - Migs, Jones, Ward
RB- Jonno, Flanno, Kelly
LB- Jose, NEW, Smith
RCB- Toure, Ilori, Wisdom
LCB- Skrtel, Agger, Sakho
DM- Stevie, Lucas, Biao
RCM- Hendo, Allen, Alberto
LCM- Couts, Suso, Teixiera
RF- Sterling, Aspas, assaidi
LF- Suarez, Ibe, NEW
CF- Sturridge, Borini, Yesil

Anything we could add to that or improve would be great

Agree0 Disagree0

Skertl is horrible when playing lcb

Agree0 Disagree0

Perhaps you should be a Leeds supporter if you believe spend at all costs is wise

Agree0 Disagree0

Yesil won't get promoted will he? he's coming back from 2 serious acl injuries. It would be better to give him time.
We have a lot of good/decent young players.But I'd worry for how they cope with champions league football.

Agree0 Disagree0

I suspect you should be prepared to be massively disappointed, Greg.

Great to see Ian Ayre come out and say that we will invest heavily in the squad "There is no question we always expected that the squad we need for next season will be very different to the squad that we have needed for this year when we were not playing in Europe." Do the Ed's reckon this is just a load of Bull from Ayre? Also wanted to say that had a poster on here said those comments they would be slated for not supporting the team!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I wish someone like Ayre had not said that. Now, he has firmly raised the expectations of many a fan.

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe people are putting two and two together and getting 50 million? The squad will need to be different from this season as Ayre said, but he never mentioned figures and he never mentioned us bidding on Messi. We need a slightly bigger squad with better back up players. Maybe a bunch will be let go and others brought in but why are people jumping to conclusions that were about to spend huge amounts? I didn't read that from Ayres comments at all.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Ayre specifically said there was no set budget, so anyone mentioning a figure is a liar.}

I think it would be pretty foolish to say this and then not spend, as AG said it greatly raises expectations. It's also possible now, that clubs could play hard ball over fees knowing we have a quoted £60m to spend. Either way £60m is a lot of money (not sure whether player sales are included in this) so I for one i'm greatly excited to see who we have our sights on.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Apr 2014 08:56:15
unbelievable season so far let's hope we win it.
i think we need to strengthen the squad for next season with some real quality.
the way I see it is that we need a quality left back that can defend and attack, essential for us in our system.
1 attacker that can play on both wings with pace.
and cb to replace toure.
we need to replace cissokho/moses/toure.
we will have suso/borini/illori coming back so 3 bringing in 3 potential starters should be enough.
And I would like us to get another goaler because I like mignolet but he is very weak on crosses
Malta

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Toure won't be leaving.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope nobody is buying into Jose's mind games. He will field as strong a team as possible against Liverpool. Its lucky he is a colouful manager because his football is dull to say the least.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yes, no-one is fooled by that, he's just trying to deflect attention away from the fact that chelsea are about as exciting as watching grass grow

he just wants an excuse in case he loses, because he has ego issues, like all narcissists

Agree0 Disagree0

The ban will happen, Rui Faria hasn't been charged yet either - Don't think he could escape it really! Not sure if Ramires can appeal it though and still play Sunday whilst awaiting the outcome? Any Ed's know?

Agree0 Disagree0

Ofcourse he will field a very strong team. Even if it was a "second string" team, the players on show would be the likes of Salah, Schurrle, David Luiz, Cole, Shwarzer etc. Players who would be starters in most of the other PL teams.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes Mr Shankly I was just saying on the Chelsea page that he has given his excuses for both competitions in the one whinge. I don't know whether Roman buys into this stuff though

Agree0 Disagree0

Even if he played a so called 'weakened team', that would still include at minimum:

Matic and Salah who were cup tied last night

Lampard and Mikel because they will be banned for the second leg

If fit Hazard and Eto due to them not playing last night

Hardly a weakened team Jose

Agree0 Disagree0

No Terry and no Cech so IMO a weakened side.

Who cares who he plays, we are Liverpool and this is Anfield.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cech and Terry are enforced changes because of injury.

Mourinho is trying to suggest he will rest players for the second leg, even if they are fit.

I don't buy it and teams have been fined in the past for playing weakened sides so he wouldn't highlight it if it was true.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Eds
Do you have progress on how Suso is performing in Spain? Is he in demand? has he lived up to his hype?

Thank you

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I haven't had a chance to watch him recently, but Almeria would like to take him permanently and Valencia have shown interest in him too, so I would say he must be doing something right.}

Suso has been doing pretty well. 2 goals and 9 assists in 31 appearance, of which 25 are starts.

His defensive side of the game has improved, especially the tactical part. I think he would have been more effective in a better team too.

I don't know if Almeria is interested in Suso, but I think there would be no chance they can afford him. Sevilla are interested, but they too cannot afford him. The interest of Valencia is news to me Ed001.

I remember before last season, German teams were interested in him. Do you know who they were Ed001?

Agree0 Disagree0

I've managed to watch him a few times this season.

He's played plenty of football, and it's been of good quality, too.
Haven't seen any of is bombing long passes, but he's looked very comfortable. Playing very safely, so would like to see a few more risks taken, but he's young. time is his friend.

Hopefully he returns!

Agree0 Disagree0

I imagine his stats would have been even more impressive if he played this season in our midfield. I really hope it works for him next season at Liverpool or that he goes on another successful loan. I hope we don't sell.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - the only German team to show interest, that I know of, is Dortmund.}

23 Apr 2014 04:44:09
So it seems, ridiculously yet unsurprisingly, that there has been no retrospective ban for ramires?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What? One notable Journalist mentioned yesterday that Ramires will get a 4 match ban today (Wednesday).

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Apr 2014 02:51:41
There goes Jose Murinho with his mind games again. As soon as the match is finished he starts to say he may rest players against Liverpool. Total BS.

The weekend match will be epic. Hope Liverpool keep the momentum and kill the game in 1st half.

On another note I feel bad for Everton that they lost Mirallas for the season. I still feel Everton beat or atleast draw against Man City.

Imagine Champions league nights in Liverpool where both Everton and Liverpool are playing.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The title showdown, again. As only a few weeks ago Man City was labeled 'the title showdown' as well.

Jose Mourinho = Jose's version of the Italian 'Catenaccio'. Defence and Organisation. Grinding out 3 points, setting in the stalls and looking to grab an important goal. The ''Italian football'' defensive style.

Brendan Rodgers = Rodgers' version of Dutch 'Total Football' (Um, . it'sh lyke totally football Ja?) We'll score one more than you or flying by the seat of your pants. :) Eye pleasing and wonderful stuff.

Should make for a great game, a clash of styles.

Agree0 Disagree0

Chelsea need to win to stay in the title race. Do you think he will "rest" players on Sunday? Besides, Chelsea have a strong enough squad to deal with situations like this.

Mourinho was one of the managers who constantly points out that LFC are doing so well only because we don't have Europe. By that same logic, Chelsea should be able to cope with a couple of injuries.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Apr 2014 22:03:01
Hey Ed001

Jose usually gets his tactics spot on for the big games look at the game at etihad, but Chelsea have to go for the win.
How are you expecting Jose & Brendan to set their sides out & how do you see the game going?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Mourinho is a tactician who has stepped over the bounds recently but is still a formidable opponent. Rodgers has done a great job and the team has really stepped ahead - and further ahead than anyone expected. Liverpool should do nothing than more of the same otherwise Chelsea might pick them apart. This game may not be critical but both sides will look for a win. BR needs to get Skrtel on side and not pulling at shirts. He needs to ensure that Suarez is focussed because Chelsea will exploit the situation if there is any chance. I don't like it but they will. Rodgers has achieved - don't foul it up.}

Jose Mourinho has been the manager in seven Champions League semi-finals, he's lost five of them. However he has never managed a losing team in a Champions League final match.

So, ''Jose usually gets his tactics spot on for the big games'', of course obviously withstanding Champions League semi-finals, in which he doesn't usually get his tactics spots on, would be to the truth. ;) Just for fun.

Edd001, do you know the plans with texeira?. When I watched him a few.years back I thought the boy would be a star.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - He will need at least a year to be first team material. A loan to a Championship side might work really well.}

I'd say a loan to granada would be a good move. You saw how Teixeira didn't really get a look in when he went to Brentford who is in league one not even championship. for some players lowers league of english football is career suicide. they want players like Spearing. He needs to play and could do well in La Liga or bottom table Italian side.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think the Championship would work for Teixeira. Maybe the La Liga Ed001?

{Ed001's Note - he needs to get used to this country's football though.}

I'd say a team like Wigan whether promoted or still in chain ship would be ideal for him.

Not clutching at straws - we will have to get a result who ever is put infront of us; Cech and Terry got injured tonight (not sure if it rules them out of Sunday); not seen anything about Rameries or the Chelsea coach being suspended etc. Chelsea still have to keep it tight next wednesday.

Hoping all these things may give us a little advantage on Sunday - but as stated - we have to beat whoever is put infront of us.

{Ed002's Note - I would not get wrapped up in that. The momentum is with Liverpool, stop worrying about the opposition because it is out of you control.}

Ed's, Jose has said Liverpool refused to play on Saturday when requeste, my question is, can teams do this? I thought the FA make final decision? Does it make much of a difference to Chelsea?

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what he said but clubs can indeed refuse late changes. I don't ever recall it happening.}

Middlesboro, maybe, i'm not sure?

Back when Bryan Robson was their manager, he wanted the F.A/League to move one of his fixtures but they wouldn't so he cancelled a fixture and was later docked 3 points which ended up being crucial with the club being relegated that season.

I'm not sure, but i'd have thought Boro would have tried and did exhaust all his avenues to getting that game moved. Maybe the rules were different back then (1997), but off the top of my head that might be another time an opposition club refused to move a fixture in the calender to suit themselves and gain an advantage?

A few injury concerns for Chelsea but I'm not going to underestimate them. They will have to attack at some point during the game and they can do real damage. Hope Torres starts :)

Ed, as far as you areaware do you think Ramirez will be suspended for Sunday? Also is Hazard expected to be fit

{Ed002's Note - I would expect Ramires to be charged and perhaps not available. Hazard nearly made tonight but I suspect Salah and Schurrle might start at the weekend. I'll decide later in the week.}
