Look, I am as gutted as you all regarding the result but we all need to stick together. The ownership issue needs to be resolved before we can move on as a club. If RH had money to spend I am sure he would let Lucas leave, let Ngog go on loan and buy quality striker and winger but sadly he can't we are skint. Mascherano has not helped but i am sure will settle for around £22 mill - we need the cash to spend!. As for tonites game the performance was poor. Johnson should be moved to right med and bring Kelly in at right back. If we can spend the masch money on striker and winger and allow Kuyt to leave in a swap deal we should be alright. The key here is to get behind RH and the lads

I wish you guys would stop slagging off Lucas and Kuyt! There were far worse players in a Liverpool shirt than those two! All the Opta stats prove that those two are decent players _ Torres was **** understandably (lack of match fitness), Johnston what **** (should be a right winger - not back). Agger was out of position and tormented by Adam Johnson (one of the few of the players I would have out of the City side). We had the better players but frankly, Hodgson is simply not clever enough to use them. We were out thought and out-fought.
I have the greatest regard for Roy Hodgson but he is simply not good enough a manager and we will not even finish in the top ten if he stays in charge! Frankly, I fear just exactly were Liverpool will finish come May after a performance like that! !

I was thinking the same. Got any ideas Ed?
{Editor's note - I have never seen him before}

It was actually Kenny Huang's Daughter she is part of huangs consortium, that was trying to buy Liverpool.

It is Ian Ayre's missus. . he has spent years in Asia.

I posted yesterday regarding a link that I had been told of by a good source between Keith Harris and Sheik Mohammed bin rashid al maktoum, I can also confirm that Amanda Staveley is also involved with the same bid, he told me that due diligence is complete and that a statement will be released from Anfield either tomorrow or Wednesday at the latest that preferential status had been granted to that bidder to tie up the loose ends. They have set this friday aside for an Anfield press conference to announce that a deal has been completed though due to formalities such as the PL 10 day ruling and the final look at the books as part of the DD process, the new owners will not formally take over til mid september- too late for this transfer window. I can fully vouch for my source, he doesn't have much time for football and is from a financial background and works for a company with links to Barcap but knows I'm a big red so has tried to keep me informed- he also told me two weeks ago that Huang was a sham and Barcap and the RBS never took him seriously throughout.

According to Paul Dalglish on Twitter. The Chinese lady sitting next to Kenny D was Ian Ayres wife! Just shows you what a few million in you back pocket can do for a man's love life.

23 Aug 2010 23:34:55

Well what can I say!
Is Hodgson good enough - No obviously!
Tactically inept - he is building a mid-tabel team at best!
Apparently according to Twitter the fans were singing the "Rafa Bentez" song and shouting "Broughton out and the board out"! I wholehearted agree!

They are trying to destroy the club not - rescue it!

I have followed Liverpool since they come up from the 2nd Division in 1960s and I have never seen such a talented bunch of players play so badly! Whose fault it that - Hodgson because he only knows how to play with mediocre players not class ones.

His formation was totally wrong, his man-marking at set pieces was wrong and were as Benitez was slagged off for making subsitutions at 60 mins even at 75 mins Hodgson had not made any subs even though it was clear things needed shaking up!

The club is in decline thanks to H&G and a ****** **** board who don't know their a**e from there elbow.

That's what happens when you put accountants in charge of the buying of players in a football club.

Thanks ed for allowing me post my response explaining myself and trying to explain i was not in the slightest way being racist, never ever would i be, plain and simple! there is no place for racism in any walk of life and it is something that each and everyone of us should try to to do our part in eliminating! so if i offended anyone earlier then i truely apologise for that but like i say, that word does not carry that meaning where im from but knowing that it obviously carries certain meanings elsewhere then i will never use that word again!

So, im sorry if i upset or offended anyone but it was not intended and so please if people could stop stirring it up or saying its some sort of racist site, its about football and our love and passion for our clubs and my one is liverpool and i want nothing but the best for my beloved liverpool so please people get back to giving your own views and opinions on what you think should happen with liverpool or your own club and stop nitpicking, thank you!

I'm sick of all the tossers on this site calling for Roy's head, were bloody two games into a season and he hasn't had nearly enough time with the team, your all starting to sound like Newcastle fans, all of you grow up and get behind the team, there is light at the end of the tunnel, it's just a long tunnel.

Oh and just another thought, why is Agger playing left back when Jamie had the best season he ever had at Liverpool when he played left back.

I can't believe what i watced tonight, why is kuyt and lucas in a liverpool shirt? ? ?they can't pass or shoot for 15 million(KUYT) and 7 million(LUCAS) its tlme to get rid , ngog is useless he plays with no passion or conviction , mascarano has played his last game for liverpool, if we don't get buyers in soon torres and gerrard are gone by christmas. the two fat americans have turned our great club in to a big joke.

dark dark days ahead

Andy Carroll, Fabio Coentrao, Arda turan, Javi Martinez.

Anyone else think our squad would be so much stronger with these signings?

I know this is fantasy but it's not that unrealistic. Obviously I could have just named a bunch of world class players and said the same thing, but there's no reason liverpool couldn't sign these players if we sold some of our current squad.

But hey, we can all dream. .

Fine him 6 months wages - hold his playing licence and send him on gardening leave, but by no means let him go for any less that €25mil. On principal this is very important example to other players and other clubs ie Cjelski & citeh trying the same trick again. And for god sake take arm & all of Rafa for Dirk. He's served his purpose and we thank him but 15m is ridculous mondy for him. Push Johnson up there with Kelly in behind him & buy Turan if possible. And there will be very few teams will come away from eastlands with anything this year.

This message is for Henno, 4 ever and ed. I have been tuned into this site and watching it grow and ben excited by some of the rumours. But the racist comment about Toure not just offended me but saddened it came from a so called Liverpool fan. I am also appalled that ed graced him with a reply to a question (NOT GOOD) {editor's note - I will check that out mate, that wasn't me so I will have a look and see what you are referring to.}

I too complained about the Gollyw*g comment. Kick racism out of football! and homophobia and any other offensive crap. its sad to hear fellow LFC supporters coming out with this rubbish
{Editor's note - I am a different Ed from the other two but I will see if they checked it out}

DIC are set to become Liverpool's next owners in a few weeks and Roy Hodgson isn't their man. They want a high profile manager. They are looking at Gus Hiddink.
. . .
aren't DIC in financial crisis? they owe billions to the banks from what i've read in papers etc

D.I.C were bailled out by Abu Dhabi in the region of 30-60 billion so in effect D.I.C are now probably owned by Abu Dhabi. IF D.I.C are involved then it could be for Sheikh Mohammed personally and also Abu Dhabi (Sheikh Kalifha) or both.

Would love Sheikh Mohammed as are new owner but that's me probably being to optimistic. But the way things are going are new owners will be RBS.

Lets all be realistic here , top players want to be playing in the champions league and at liverpool this season we can't offer that. We have no money to spend because if we did im sure roy would have got the players he wanted in before the last week in august, you just have to look at our signings to prove this 4.5 million for poulsen is the highest. Depending on how much we get for some of the deadwood players and possibly masch or kuyt or both will hopefully give us some indication of what we are able to spend (hopefully lucas goes too). Although i wouldn't expect any big name signings just solid or proven players who can do a job. We looking at maybe 1 or 2 coming in but that's all i see over the next week to be honest. Loaning Aqualini could prove too be a big mistake.

If Mascherano has truly gone on strike as has been suggested then he should, and indeed must be left to see out the remainder of his career in the reserves.

No way should he be sold to Barcelona!

23 Aug 2010 23:07:14

Wow, that game left me feeling empty and worried, we were lucky to get nil, City didn't even break stride. Roy has his work cut out to turn this around.

Also why the hell are we looking at David Treserguet, Excuse the spelling, he's well past it, i'd rather have nobody than him. Also we need a superstar in midfield, Stevie G is struggling by himself.

I also see people mentioning DIC with regard to the takover, I thought DIC were broke and had to be bailed out themselves, any truth in this Ed?
{Editor's note - I am not the main Ed and I have no sources so I do not know}

Roy Hodgson to get the sack if the new owners come in this season?

general consensus of a opinion, out of his depth or not?

23 Aug 2010 23:04:50
After tonight's performance, the lack of depth in our squad is becoming more and more visible. look at the the problems adam johnson caused our defence through his pace and crossing. how did he cause this? because he's a natural winger; i love kuyt but i would jump on £15m for him and buy an out and out winger. with agger not being a solid left back it made it easy for johnson as well.
i know it's well documented but a solid left back is needed!

A right back, (johnson was s* t tonight and we need to keep him on his toes!) a top target man and a centre mid is needed as well.

keep the faith

I have read the coments tonight, why are so many ove our supporters picking lucas, ngogg, kuyt, milan, as not good enough, i no they are not , so why does the manager keep picking them, we are a long way behind top 4 i fear, please roy drop these guys,

* we don't have anyone good enough to replace them with m8.*
i just hope we get aguero with the mash money. but then i can't see lucas playing alongside
gerrard for a season. i just hope poulson is a good player. we're gunna only have gerrard, lucas
and poulson in midfield soon. why oh why did we let aquilani go. we may well of just sold him for godsake, cause we need the money. our squad is so small allready and we still let aqua go out on loan!

{editor's note - did you not feel that the match just showed what a poor state Rafa left the club in?}

Maybe, though I think if Rafa was still there, we won't have lost 3:0 .

Ed you will probably know more than me that in many occasions Rafa was promised funds and then the money withdrawn at the last minute, he could n't get his first targets and most of the time ended up with 3rd option, he always had to sell to buy. .
Many in here complain about Rafa's buys but you get what you paid for.

For me Roy is not using his resources properly Do n't you think after 2:0 down, Insua would 've done a better Job on the left, he goes forward and his crosses are not bad, he is still a liverpool player why alienate him, keep him playing (or bench) until some one comes for him.

Roy {editor's note - I think we need a winger more than a full back. Pointless bringing on anyone to cross to Ngog, that lad sits on his heels the entire match waiting for things to happen.}

23 Aug 2010 22:52:14
It is so unbelievable what is going on at anfield.i can't believe that we can't just let a misfit like LUCAS leave this club.i wonder weather there is some kind of honey he gives to the board to keep playing him.he plays every match but he never improves as a player.watching him out there tonight got me wondering wether i am the only liverpool fan seeing the nonsense he does on the pitch.his passes are so predictable, nothing special about him, he isn't a fast runner, he doesn't pass very well, he doesn't shoot.what are we doing with him.I think liverpool must take sentiment out of the lovely game and put Lucas and maybe carragher to rest.

What kind of racist site is this?
{Editor's note - It is not a racist site at all, it is a football site, were has racism been used}

23 Aug 2010 22:43:36
Anyone know who the people sittin beside king Kenny tonight, I hate players who think they are bigger than the club, on ur bike masch

23 Aug 2010 22:41:38
To the person who said they were offended by the racist remark about toure, it was not a racist remark at all mate nor was it intended to be, where i'm from that term obviously means something totally different than it does where you are from, i would never pass a racist remark about any other human being so maybe you should think outside the box mate and maybe realise that words may have different meanings in different countries, it means an idiot where im from or at least that's its intended meaning in banter! So no i was not being racist and i would never be that way inclined!

Anyways, hoping that clears that up, what a poor performance, call a spade a spade like, Kuyt? Lucas? Skrtel? My good god, 12 mil from inter for Kuyt sounds fairly good now! I think the importance of the masch was highlighted there tonight! as i said earlier, he is one of the best if not the best player in the world in his position! roy needs to play a proper left back, agger got roasted!
Ngog werent at the races either, perhaps just a bad night all round but it was cat!

Any thoughts anyone on where to from that tonight??

Henno, red 4 ever!

23 Aug 2010 22:40:16

After that performance from liverpool they be lucky to finish in top 10

23 Aug 2010 22:39:53
IN an ideal world i would love to keep kuyt because he is how all lfc players should be working, but its not so 15 mill for him is a good deal.
wot we need is pace wherE we can hurt teams on the counter and some1 who can cross.
downing would be good. .
i know we have pace coming through the ranks but we can not afford to wait FOR the youngsters to develop we need a solution fast or we are gonna get found out by quality teams!

23 Aug 2010 22:38:10
How come out of all the amazing Brazilian players in the world, at the final whistle both sides finished with a s* t one?

23 Aug 2010 22:37:47
We have to have players to cover every position so do we play people out of position? play a team that knows the job they have to do not just the "big" names

23 Aug 2010 22:36:59
Liverpool lack real flare and width. Young and aguero but need investment.

GUTTED! really thought we wud beat city tonite fs.

the formation was piss poor and if liverpool are goin to play 2 striker it has babel and torres.

ngog didn't play to bad but didn't do much to help the team ether.

cant really think of a away of improving the team unless we get rid of alot of the players and buy top class ones which won't happen this season.

i seriously dout torres is going to stay for another season if we don't finish in the top 4.

need to get rid of lucas and masca and bring in a top class DM to let gerrad to go forward and have a formation lik chelseas.

GUTTEDDDDDDD! ! {editor's note - Ngog didn't play too bad? He was awful! He is always reacting to balls into the box, or waiting for the pass to come before moving, there is no anticipation and even less effort.}

23 Aug 2010 22:32:35
If players like lucas can play for liverpool, so can i. God knows il play with a lot more balls than that lot tonight. My ball control is 10 times better than kuyt's and my passing waaay better than lucas'. But most of all, after the game il be able to say that i sweat and bled for the sake of my beloved liverpool fc, even if i am just 5'4, 95lbs.
Red bl00ded!

23 Aug 2010 22:31:11

Im a liverpool fan. .A REALISTIC ONE. .

we are an average team with 4 top players. .agger played on the left which means out left backs are awful

lucas has no authority at centre midfield

so start being realistic we are not going to finish in the top 4 as we don't have any cutting edge on the wings and that's needed in this league

now i ask you. .has anyone seen kuyt TRY to go past a defender? or does he pass it back to johnson EVERYTIME. .

liverpool are average. face the facts people

23 Aug 2010 22:26:37
For anyone that doubted Masch footballing ability, today was a classic example of what we will miss, they passed through our midfield like it did n't exist , its not Lucas's fault, Its not his position and cannot boss it like Masch does.

I cannot find a fault in any of our team players today, they all played to their ability, but agger is not a left back and Lucas is not a holding midfielder, Kuyt is not a winger nor is jovanovic, Ngog did ok as you would expect and Torres needed more time . I feel so sorry for us , Gerrard and Carra , how much more do we have to suffer . .

We were beaten by a very good team and as I posted before , they will be contenders, money do buy success, and the sentimentalist need to start living in the 21st century.

As for us Liverpool fans, we do need a sugar daddy tomorrow if we are to finish in the top4.

Roy {editor's note - did you not feel that the match just showed what a poor state Rafa left the club in?}

23 Aug 2010 22:24:47

I think Lfc played the wrong formation we should have played 4-5-1 we lost the match in the wide areas and we lost the midfield battle. Maybe should have played maxi on right and started with poulsen and lucas holding and gerrard further up so he and torres could combine!
ed wot you think?

23 Aug 2010 22:24:03
Why were we playing 442 against man city for??

u could tell after 10mins we were getting outnumbered in the middle of the park.

we were playing with 4 strikers(kuyt/ torres/ ngog/ jova); gerrard has been a striker for the last 3 years and lucas is a attacking midfielder.

the whole left side (agger/ jova) are not in their normal positions.

ngog and torres are strikers who play as a loan striker. they were always in the same positions doing the same thing.

we should of played maxi instead of ngog or torres.
but having said that we would of probably lost anyway, so will alot of teams including ManUtd, chelsea and arsenal this year.

its a strange formation city play with. 3 holding midfield players and with lots of width. most teams are gunna find that hard to break down.

also did anyone think that richards has beefed up over the summer he's like a body builder.lol.

i bet if benitez was manger we would of drawn that 0:0. but saying that with roy were gunna get more points by being more offensive against
the not as good teams!

Blair Mayne YNWA;

"BUT i'm very interested in who Keith Harris represents as i said so just after his interview on SkySportsNews 2 weeks ago If he is serious then he could be the one watch."

As far as I understand it from reading few articles Mr Harris is involved in the Yahya Kirdi bid, he is negotiating on his behalf / or as well as few other advisers I would guess.

Kirdi is fronting a group of investors one of them is al-Qasimi family of Sharjah, (this was made public few months ago)
Roy

I don't think it is Roy, Kirdi has been like Huang and shouting it from the roof tops about his so called interest in LFC. Were Harris has said he will say nothing unless his bid is excepted.

AFTER TONIGHT I HOPE EVERYONE CAN SEE HOW ABSOLUTELY AVERAGE LUCAS IS!

IF WE START HIM EVERY WEEK WE WILL NOT MAKE TOP 5 AGAIN!

I WOULD TAKE 3 MIL FOR LUCAS AND 9MIL FOR KUYT AS THEY ARE BOTH USELESS AND WE HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO WIDTH.

WHY DID HODGSON WAIT TILL 75 MINUTES TO MAKE A CHANGE?

WE NEED TURAN OR ELIA QUICKTIME!

BELIEVABLE IF YOU THINK KUYT AND LUCAS ARENT GOOD ENOUGH TO START FOR LFC

LORRAINE ONEILL

23 Aug 2010 22:20:58

As a liverpool supporter the wrighting is on the wall lucas, milan, ngogg, kuyt, these 4 players are no way good enough for our great club,

23 Aug 2010 22:19:44
We can't let masch leave no matter what he was the best player against Arsenal and prob the best player last year. We made the mistake letting alonso go. Lucus is just not good enough. Tonight showed we have to many average players that should not be playing for the reds.
Kuyt work rate good but i would let him go for anything over 10mil. We need some young fast wingers like turan or young

23 Aug 2010 22:17:50
COME ON GIVE THE TEAM A CHANCE were 2 games in and man city were very good tonight

23 Aug 2010 22:17:48

Any liverpool transfers being mentioned Ed?

because having read comments about KUYT don't go and what a key player he is is nonsense, he may cover 2 men but what is that when your constantly losing and has NO pace as showed in the match tonight(why not subbed for maxi?).and LUCAS comments. he is great cover, one for the future best lfc player last season.did you watch the match tonight.this PLAYER is getting paid £70,000 a week for passing the ball sidewards, losing possesion and giving away COSTLY free kicks and if lfc woudnt have bought him WHO WOULD?.they and others are not good enough for liverpool(why not subbed for poulsen)! DO WE FORGET WHAT CLUB WERE SUPPORTING LIVERPOOL=the greatest football club with the greatest traditon. GREAT PLAYERS WHO WON THE LEAGUE AND IN EUROPE WHO WON MATCHES WITH QUALITY! WHY ARE WEE SETTLING FOR THESE PLAYERS AND GIVING THEM CHANCE AFTER CHANCE. WE NEED AFTER MACHERANO SALE BETTER PLAYERS!

WE ARE THE GREATEST CLUB, HAVE THE GREATES FANS, THE GREATEST CULTURE SO WHY ARE WE SETTLING FOR SOME OF THESE PLAYERS.

WE ARE LIVERPOOL FC!

Wat do you think Ed? I know you will say we don't have the funds but surely hodgson has to give others a chance even the youngsters because if we stick with these players we will NOT FINISH 4 AND WILL NOT WIN TROPHIES!
{Editor's note - I do not think the Yanks have given RH any more money, I would like to see Pachecco play more though}

23 Aug 2010 22:13:57
Absolute muck tonight we were or is it jus Monday nights we can't play well or win on. Anyone agree? Jus think of all bad performances last year on Monday nights or even back when Tony yeboah beat us

23 Aug 2010 22:12:50

If kuyt, lucas and ngog can play for lfc then so can the rest of us. kuyt can't control the ball and neither can ngog. we have too many players playing out of position and too many who are just not good enough. wat a shambles. worried

23 Aug 2010 22:10:05
You can moan all you like about kuyt. .the let downs tonight in order were johnson(not a fan), torres(got the rooney syndrome), Lucas(shudv playd poulson) and jovanovic (disappointing). but 1st and foremost that Rat that is Masch. .Oh and Andy Bluenose gray and scummy keyes. . im goin to bed. . Kin ruined my week off. .SMF

23 Aug 2010 22:10:00

ROY please sell lucas and kuyt and buy normal players

23 Aug 2010 22:07:30
At least there is 1 positive from tonight. If g&h watched it, maybe they will be so embarassed they will drop the asking price!

23 Aug 2010 22:07:14

Hear there is going to be a press conference this friday hopes it todo with takeover cos god knows we need it done soon judging by todays game we havnt got any creative players in the team too slow in midfield takes us probably 30~40 minutes just to get a shot on goal. Come on roy sort it out.

23 Aug 2010 22:06:05
After a display like tonight poor Roy has some serious work ahead of himself the game passed the two boys in central midfield by glen gave the ball away a ridiculous amount of times .we were total crap

Spot on Gazman

I have said from the start that Roy Hodgson is out of his depth and we would regret forcing RAFA out the door.

I think it shows you what the real fans think tonight as they sang RAFA's name.

Mid table at best this season I am afraid

23 Aug 2010 22:03:36
Unless we get major investment im afraid we are in for a very rough ride.Torres and Gerrard will walk if this continues.
Lucas contributes zero so we are effectively playing with 10 men
We have no creative players bar 2
Masch is a disgrace to the club, fellow players and supporters.
Who could of changed the game tonight, Maxi, Babel, Poulsen? Dont think so. Without investment. . . . . . The end is Nigh

We need width. having two make shift wingers just exastabates the situation. and to those so called fans singing rafa songs, bow your head in shame. im disgusted and embarrassed by your behaviour.

Lucas is s* t
jovanovic is s* t
ngog is s* t
kuyt has good work ethic although is s* t!

We are never going forward as a team with noobs like these in our team. Let's hope we get this takeover and can bring in quality players not players that should be playing for Wigan or west ham respectfully!

23 Aug 2010 22:01:01

F*ck the premier league man, money talks now. I stood on the kop for the first time as a 6 year old boy and now as a 37 year old man i can say that Liverpool as a force are over. I'm tired of this. goodbye my once great beloved reds. I want to support you through thick and thin but I'm not sure what I'm supporting anymore? Money talks I'm afraid. . tonight proves that football is fickle in modern times, ugly.

goodbye, Gazman

23 Aug 2010 22:00:49

If this club is not sold asap then I think it is going to be a long season I don't want to hear who's coming in and who's going.I think roys hands are tyed after tonight we are four players short if woys going to play this way then we need two wingers center mid and a stricker

The announcement is. . . . . . . Roy Hodgson is out of his depth!

23 Aug 2010 21:56:31
Surely if masch leaves then we need another central midfielder because I do not believe poulsen or Lucas to be good enough for regular premier league games. I think that we should sign Steven defour or maybe give spearing more games until January when the takeover is completed to buy a decent CM

23 Aug 2010 21:54:50
Whoever is going to buy liverpool fc , please, please hurry up and get the yanks and anybody who does not want to play for the club out.

23 Aug 2010 21:53:32

Tonight we have seen what being £237m in debt and not having enough world class players in the team does. Although we can show passion and determination, quality will always come through. A class striker, centre mid and centre back are needed. Bring on the new owners.

23 Aug 2010 21:52:00
After watching thta display tonight we need massive investment in our team we need heart and passion in our play and not people blowing wind out their backsides this squad is woefully inadequate and needs to be ripped apart but unfortunately that can't be done in nine days we need

LB, DM, 2 WM AND A STR ALL HAVE TO BE WORLD CLASS

no more freebies or good squad players we need stars

GAZMAN - still glad Rafa gone? YES - he had served his time and sometimes you have to leave the politicking and get on with it - remember the Trinity?

What an insipid poor performance - thanks Masch - you really screwed us over tonight. What to do with some real width - Milner and Johnson showed that tonight! El Nino must dream of 2 wingers who can do that.

Hopefully an eye opener for Roy

23 Aug 2010 21:47:43
Be afraid this could be a long season for us Liverpool fans. The takeover will happen within a month to six weeks but im afraid Roy is not the one for our club. Just hang in there fellow reds things will get worse before the get better, the new owner will move us forward slowly but think this season could be tough(no top four this season)

I think we really need to sell Kuyt and Lucas as they are our weaklinks in the team and give babel a chance to shine with Torres up front if playing 442! I think we should sign SWP and left winger also. What does everyone think.

welcome to a new era

23 Aug 2010 21:44:10
See tough times ahead for liverpool. being beaten 3-0 (at the moment by Manchester City) shows us that liverpool are nowhere near credible contenders for the title.
In fact i would go as far as to say that i can see liverpool having a mid table finish. and people be serious how can we attract Aguero, Young etc with our financial problems and lack of star quality compared to Chelsea and Manchester United

23 Aug 2010 21:43:29

After that its clear we need 2 out and out wingers and a left back asap! without them we will be lucky to make top 7

23 Aug 2010 21:39:08
Is it me or does Masc play for us?
WE SET THE PRICE!

Where is all the transfer money ?

Weve bought no-one sold players, supposed to have 15m transfer kitty. 20m sponsership deal.

WHERE's the cash ?

In the cowboys pocket, while we are trying to buy crap players again.

Oh and we're 3-0 down and my seven year old son has asked why we rushed home from training to watch this crap.

We need to sign

Turan
Aguero
Scharner
Young

GET RID OF

Masc
Kuyt
Lucas
Johnson
Babel

and if there is no new owner
take the 9 pts for administration now and get the pair of cowboys out!

23 Aug 2010 21:39:05

Why does everyone think we need a left back we have two half decent left backs we have one of the worst right backs the club has ever seen in glen johnson we need a new right back as cover for kelly johnson should not even be in the squad

Ed, just thought id share my thoughts. Im done thinking positive after what im seeing now. Why are we only playing after going 2-0 down? Here is what i think of the starting 11.
Reina- can't be blamed. Top keeper. And just conceded a penalty. Again, no blame to him.
Johnson- 18m pounds? Rafa what on god's green earth were u thinkin? Hopeless.
Carra- getting old im afraid.
Skrtel- conceded the penalty. But still looks solid.
Agger-out of position, but adam j is killing him at the moment.
Kuyt-really is trying hard. I wouldn't sell him by what ive seen this far, even if it hasnt been much.
Lucas- dear god, he makes me wanna beat up monster's wife with a spanglish dictionary! He is awful.
Gerrard- trying very hard. Had his moments.
Jova- can't tell. Doing okay i guess.
Ngog- poor.
Torres- off form. Pressure getting too much maybe? Needs a back up, but still 100 times better than ballotelli(manchini should wake up)
ed my heart is bleeding watching this game:, -(
Red bl00ded!

Where did you hear about this press conference

23 Aug 2010 21:37:03

What a shambles! Yes, Chiteh have some good players, but come on! ******* fight for the shirt! All over the place and no *****! We need to get back to basics and hassle, close down, chase lost causes. It clearly shows that we're in desperate need of players. Daniel Agger is not a left back. Too slow and looks like a lost sheep. We have aurelio so why not use him? At least it's his specialist position. Masch can **** off! If he doesn't want to play for us then bin him off now. No-one is bigger than any one club. Get rid for £18m. Lucas is never gonna do it an again, there's too much on Gerrards shoulders. Maybe Citeh are actually going to be a force this year and we caught them on a good night but it's gonna be a LONG HARD SEASON!
As soon as the Yanks are out the better. The club is looking like the laughing stock of the league and we're better than that.
I am very disappointed and dis-illusioned.
Things need to change! FAST

23 Aug 2010 21:37:02

Bottom line. . We still have the same squad/ team as disbolical Rafa left us with and last season just continues onto this. We shouldn't at least of signed a forward by now who is credible of the shirt. Here's hoping for a rich miracle. Village

Roy wants Masch matter resolved!

Roy Hodgson has not given up hope of keeping Javier Mascherano at Liverpool but may not pick him again until after the transfer window closes.
Wantaway midfielder Mascherano has been linked with Inter Milan and Barcelona, with reports circulating on Monday night that the Catalans had submitted a derisory £12million bid.
As a result, the 26-year-old was left out of Liverpool's squad for the Premier League match against Manchester City at Eastlands because Hodgson did not believe the Argentina captain was in the right frame of mind - and not because he refused to play.
"Hopefully matters will be resolved before the end of the transfer window and I'll be able to pick him again, " said the Reds boss on Sky Sports.
"I don't know where he is tonight but he's not here with us.
"There is some speculation about his future and at the moment his mind is not right and it was not right to select him."
Hodgson has previously admitted the club have told Mascherano that he can leave providing they receive the right offer - honoring an agreement the player struck 12 months ago when Barca first expressed their interest.
However, they will not allow a player they bought from West Ham for £18million three and a half years ago to leave on the cheap, even if the situation descends into a stand-off between player and club.
"Until an offer matches our valuation, he will stay with us, " Hodgson said.
Roy Hodgson is right if Barca wants Mascherano they have to pay the asking price, if the player don't want to play he can sit and rot for the rest of his contract then he can go free.

Hi fellow liverbirds,

Well it looks like Masch has finally thrown his teddy out of the pram or at least that's the way it seems and Barca are being snakes by only offering a pittance for probably one of the best players in the world in his position as they know well he wants out, Lfc need to grow a pair on this one and seriously put the squeeze on them considering they done it for that toure in all fairness! Take 15 mil + Bojan or Just hold out for 25 mil if toure fetched 28 mil and is not half the player! and if no go on that then let Masch just warm the bench or play reserve football every week and finish out his contract and then see who wants to buy him, NO ONE!

I hear the toivinen deal prob won't happen but that salcido could well do, pity bout toivinen, looks class!
I have a sneaky feeling that roy may make a bid for SWP but i think it would be a bad move, talks of riise, ronaldinhio and aguero are laughable and especially in this transfer window but i wouldn't rule out aguero bid in january or next summer if we have new owners! Does anyone think that Pachaeco and Ngog maybe in some kind of rotation could be good enough along with torres this season? Any thoughts on any of this Ed?

Henno, 4ever red YNWA! {editor's note - I like Pacheco, he is top class, he was rated very highly by Barca and deserves a regular run of games this season.}"

I agree with nearly all your points, but "******"? I thought we'd stamped that sort of thing out of the average English fan and tbh i'm ashamed to think you're a fellow red.

MASCHERANO is a disgrace. He should p*p off asap. Refusing to play? surely this breaches his contract and we don't have to pay him? anything less than 25 mill is a disgrace. Barcelona should be ashamed, what a lack of respect to a club like liverpool! let him rot the h*n**r

Masch is actually injured, he limped off in the arsenal game, he wants out but wouldn't pull himself out of the squad like that. He's a professional for heavens sake, he's not anelka!
the bid from barca sounds dodgy, i'd say there is a player included in the price.

"Javier Mascherano pulled out of Liverpool squad as Barcelona make £12m move for midfielder.

Javier Mascherano is missing from Liverpool's squad to face Manchester City tonight after Barcelona made their move to sign him.
The Spanish giants are believed to have offered £12million plus former Arsenal midfielder Alexander Hleb. The Argentina captain is desperate to quit Anfield after their failure to qualify for the Champions League last season and he is excited by the chance to move to Spain.
Mascherano has not been included in the match day squad to face City at Eastlands.
His absence is not believed to be down to the injury that kept him out of Tuesday's Europa League victory over Trabzonspor.

Roy Hodgson wants to keep him at Liverpool as they attempt to seal a return to the top four in this campaign.
But the latest developments suggest Mascherano is almost certain to have played his last game in the famous shirt."

This is just more negative marketing of Liverpool FC by the media. .

Any journalist looking into this story would be that he is leaving because his wife feels alienated here with noone to talk too and can't/ refuses to learn to speak English. . this has been going on ever since he's been in England. . He will only leave to a Spanish team (thats her native langauge)

Not because of last years position. .

before you press the "unbelievable" button type in the internet about masch's wife you see loads of quotes from the player about this wife situation. .

Also i think your find he aint refusing to play but the club have claimed he's injured to avoid risk of injury before this transfer window closes. . like they did with the euro game (where they also rested nearly everyone else)

We will get hardly anything for him as Barcelona know this situation only to well (and will say take it or we'll wait and get him for nothing when his contract runs in 16 months). but this measly amount will be halved again if he's injured and goes in jan. . plus there's also the promise that was made to him by the club BEFORE even last summer. .

Toivonen deal can still go through. Here are the facts:

1) There has been no statement from the player or his agent (who used to play for Roy) stating that a move will not happen

2) The coach said the other day that he wouldn't be able to "block any move"

3) LFC have seen the guy on FIVE occasions- people can say they were looking at Calcido too, but when has a LB ever been tracked like this- plus Roy went to see him himself during the Int'l break. Surely LFC would not be spending on such an amount on scouting someone if they had not received positive assurances from the player or his representative

4) The statements from the director sound like a load of garbage because how would a team on a tight budget call a club to ask how much they want for a player? All of your bargaining power is done immediately upon asking that question. The way negotiations go is a club comes in with a bid for a player and then the team decides whether or not to accept such a bid. If the process started with LFC asking for an amount they would have no bargaining power. What probably really happened is LFC tabled a bid that was short of the valuation that PSV want for the player and LFC have not gone back with an approved bid, that's why he says they haven't heard from them since Thursday.

23 Aug 2010 19:19:51
Why is it that Liverpool seemingly get "shafted" on transfers especially with respect to players exiting the club?

Ok Mascherano hasn't been sold yet, but don't be surprised to see him leave for around £12 million, and probably in £10 installments, we are so weak when it comes to bargaining and selling. Personally I think the offer is derisory, bordering on an insult, and the powers at be should inform the cash strapped Spaniards that life is tough especially when you haven't the liquid capital (join the club) . .you took out a bank loan to pay wages, etc, etc, so go back to the bank with cap in hand and ask for another loan, and increase your offer you tight arses!

The agent of David Trezeguet has said that his client is considering a move to Anfield.

Reports in the Italian media claimed that Liverpool made an enquiry for the World Cup winning French international while negotiating Alberto Aquilani's move to Juventus.

Roy Hodgson is known to be looking into adding to his striking options with just Fernando Torres and David N'Gog available upfront. PSV's Ola Toivonen is also interesting the Kop boss.

Trezeguet's agent, Antonio Caliendo, says Liverpool, along with Spanish duo Real Zaragoza and Hercules, are chasing Trezeguet's signature.

"An interest of Liverpool? There are requests, not just of Liverpool, " Caliendo told calciomercato.it.

"In Spain there is the interest of Real Zaragoza and Hercules."

"We are considering [offers], today is a day of reflection, we will know more tomorrow."

Roy Hodgson has been blasted by French wonderkid Chris Mavinga for snubbing the club's young foreigners.
Mavinga was signed by Rafael Benitez from PSG in a deal seen as a real coup for the Liverpool last summer.

The left back starred as France won the Euro Under 19 title and was looking forward to forcing his way into the Reds squad.
He trained with the first-team last term but says he has been shunted back to the reserves under Hodgson.
'I am disappointed, ' he admitted. 'I thought that with the success I had with France and what I produced on the training ground I would have the opportunity to train with the first team and play bits of games.

'But a new coach arrived. Roy Hodgson, who replaced Rafael Benitez, is changing the organization of the club and is trying to encourage English players ahead of foreign ones, unlike his predecessor.

I'm just saying, all this talk about "over the hill players"-Carlos Salicido is a decent player, and if he can give us one/ two decent seasons, then that's a good deal as far as i'm concerned as by the time he's gone, players like Kelly/ Mavinga will be more experienced and ready to stake their claim for a starting position week in week out. At 2 mil, I say go for him.

If woy thinks trezeguet salcido and poulsen are the way too take us forward then i am absolutley gutted , this is not fulham fc this is liverpool fc , we dnt want old over the hill players , if u can only afford one big player then buy one , dnt buy loads of crap just for the sake of it ,
shelvy looks ten times better than poulsen ,
aquilani better than lucas
pacheco n ngog better than trez

Ok lets think logically here. . were in the midst of possibly the biggest takeover LFC have had in years and with the prospect of some serious financial backing. . however, its unlikely that it will happen in this window. So, it makes sense to get players like Trez in that will do a job for a season on a short contract to see us through till a time when money is no object (hopefully) and we can let them go.
Big names will only be coming in when and IF we get finances to pay for them. . if were going for the likes of Tez then its safe to assume that the takeover won't be happening for a few weeks

I don't think the season is going to be too rosy.Apart from Joe Cole, we seem to be getting rid of better players than we have brought in :-(

At 2 mil, I say go for him.

as he can't cross, he has blistering pace, BUT THE END PRODUCT IS WASTEFUL.

23 Aug 2010 18:42:52
We rescued the little s* t when he was rotting in the hammers reserves we payed 18 million for him we then turned him into a captain of his country and a world class holding midfielder. For the last two seasons he has been touting himself like a slut to europes finest and we have done nothing. Enough is enough stand up to the scrubber brat put a 50 million price tag on him and let the s* t rot in the third team for the next 2 years. No loyalty wotsoever vermin buck tooth binman midget

Someone tell Barca to shove it where the sun don't shine.Tell em we want Messi, 40 Million and their next 5 years of gate receipts.

i thought the Comedians tv show finished years ago, oviously not :-)

Blair Mayne YNWA;

Mild mannered. .one of the protagonists of my situation:). .it's hard to say tbh I have in the past given what I was told to believe were resonable time frames which as you know never materialized so I can't say exactly.

But. . .the reason that the sale hasn't gone through yet is because a certain Chinese "businessman" lied an awful lot to get free publicity, the Chinese government denied any involvement and so did his business partners, but it still didn't stop the charlatan from trying to keep himself in the headlines.

Sadly huang lapped up the attention and from then on it was all for the attention hence his "supposed" offer to meet with the "others" who love the media attention SOS.

Bamba led a lot of people up the garden path, and if anyone reads his posts from when he first started and then check the attitude towards the end you'll see that he starts getting arrogant and calling others "brethren". .bamba IS someone who was on the payroll from huang, and he achieved his mission in not only delaying the process of a real bidder but he also achieved the media attention that huang wanted.

His profile has been raised. .the delay and the resultant media speculation that came with this gave him time to try and put a "consortium" together but ultimately he failed.

And broughton saw all this from an early time, he was obliged to listen but when NO PROOF of who his backers were forth coming BROUGHTON decided it was time to put it to bed.and sadly the last 2-3 weeks of huang/ bamba/ tony Evans has delayed the sale because certain people who were watching started to back track, especially when the cic fund was mentioned. (shiek Mohammed, in this case if you wanted to know). but the one party that actually increased their interest was the abu dhabi consortium by all accounts. .because they actually have a fund that makes the cic look like small change, and they wanted to stand toe to toe with them just for the sake of it. (that part is speculation from a friend who has been working on this).

But now huang has GONE, shiek Mohammed is back in, and this time he's trying to finish before September, he has a good friendship with broughton and hopes to gain favour from him.

Abu dhabi will try to pressure broughton via barcap to accept their offer when they are ready.

Abu dhabi can wait for all the time they like.
Shiek Mohammed wants to purchase them asap, and put an end to this personal nightmare. .he has chased us for years and now he wants to finally wrap this up quickly.

So you ask for a time, I'll speculate anything from tonight to January. . I sorry, I know it's a big gap but it really has become almost impossible to say 100% if you read the daily mail today there was a piece about new bidders coming in just so they can like huang have the free publicity. .it's sad but true

Mr Broughton

Barcelona have bid £12m pound for javier mascherano, THAT IS A LAUGHABLE SUM, and he is not in starting line up as he has refused to play,

let him rot in the reserves for the season, an let him go on a free, id rather that than the cheeky bid of 12million and who does he think he is refusing to play! !

23 Aug 2010 18:30:44
Well. .it seems very doubtful all the things governing the take over and the club keeping its key player. .
y wud the club keep el nino when the selling could pay some of the dept. .its lousy. .

To the person who wrote this:

"Ola Toivonen, Rafael Van Der Vaart, Bryan Ruiz, Carlos Salcido and Shaun Wright-Phillips are the targets at the moment.
Roy is looking to get rid of players who are essentially a waste of a place. Charles Itandje, Damien Plessis and NabilEl Zhar fall into this category."

are you feeling okay because how can you say El Zhar and Plessis are waste of players, these two young players could be the future Liverpool FC. El Zhar has played for the first team couple of times and i think this lad has got skills and good technique, if we do sell him don't be suprised if he becomes like simoa or quaresma becuase El Zhar is GOOD player. Plassis also made his debut against Arsenal and like what everyone else said after that game Plessis is also going to be a good player. Plessis is solid in defensive ways and also a good ball giver in attacking ways, he may be the new Alonso or even better.

It will be a shame if Liverpool let these two go, and by the way Caviliari having medical Catesena

23 Aug 2010 18:08:53
If mascherano has decided not to play on the back of the barcelona bid he is a disgrace to our club. let him rot in the reserves woy, we don't need this from any of our players. what a muppet!

Team for this season should be
Reina

Gerrard Poulsen
Maxi kuyt/ cole jovanovic
Torres

23 Aug 2010 18:01:20
What a nice guy Mascherano is turning out to be, by giving LFC a way out.

If Barca have only offered 12m - no need to sell whatsoever. Every time Masch refuses to play (allegedly), fine him 2 weeks wages, which apparently a club is allowed to do, and in no time we'll get a good proportion of what he is worth back before end of season. Then try sell him for 12m next year, won't be worth that much then probably after being idle for 10 months, but what a way of telling him - no one is bigger than LFC, and also telling the rest of the football world clubs run football not players or agents.

In an ideal world eh - have our management got the guts to do it.

WE DO NOT HAVE TO SELL IF THE PRICE ISN'T RIGHT.

I'm sorry but what is this Martin Broughton critism?

Comments such as his time with BA are crazy. The facts say BA are under massive threat from low cost airlines, fuel prices, rising taxess and unions. Thats not his fault, and as for employees they are influenced by union action.

The reality is fans are fustrated the take over is taking a while, but Martin Broughton and Purslow should be only judged on the outcome of the take over and who is best for LFC.

A realist.

I was the one who posted a while ago about mascherano to barca. .first of all i wouldn't be starting poulson because if we got Diarra I would play him and Gerrard in centre midfield with cole behind Torres or have Cole on the wing and a second striker. .also i think barcelona would consider this as they just signed david villa and they now have messi, villa, ibra, bojan and pedro who can rotate in the front three. .also as for abidal and maxwell they are both getting on and are both going for the same position so one will be on the bench. . also i don't know how much Dentinho would be worth i would just like to see some flair players in the team! !

To the person who wrote this!
yeah good question! does anyone know how long broughton has been chairman of british airways? i only ask because im told their entire workforce despises the board because they constantly make cuts to the job enrichment of their staff in order to secure high profits for the board. They have cut the number of staff on planes, frozen wages, massively reduced the ground level workforce and are intending outsourcing their engineering to private companies. oh yeah and -They covered up the concorde fiasco with one of the most brazen pr misdirection campaigns of modern times. Just cast your mind back 15 years to when ba was one of the leading companies in the world, respected by all for their honest and diligent service, the pride of the uk.
Im just interested to know how much of this broughton oversaw, maybe none of it, maybe he came in and fixed it all i don't know id like someone to clarify please. what i do know is ba cabin crew recently striked, and now their ground crew are striking as well soon. . .

I am in the aircraft business and have been for a long time. The cabin crew went on strike because they are greedy $%^£" even with the staff cuts they still have more staff on long haul flights than virgin and they get paid double. As for the engineering most of it is already out sourced because it is cheaper (good business sense). And as for the concord it was decomitioned because it was to expensive to make new parts for! and the one that crashed was an air france one anyway!
So it looks to me as if hes is a good business man as if BA carried on the way they were they would never be able to compete with the likes of virgin!
AS for Liverpool I have faith that the best bid for the club will be excepted and we will be notified soon.

23 Aug 2010 17:15:41

I just don't understand the negativity on this website what is going on liverpool fans. Two years ago we almost won the premiership with this team
Reina
Arbeloa
Carra
Skrtel
Aurelio
Masch
Alonso
Kuyt
Riera
Gerrard
Torres

the onli reason we didn't do so good last year was because we didn't have a creative central midfielder (Alonso) to supply a attacking Midfielder (Gerrard) like the seaon before but this season gerrard will drop back and be that creativity for joe cole who will then supply Torres.

Expect one more striker to come in and another winger maybe a replacement for kuyt

Why is everyone calling for poulsens head already? hes played one game, give him a chance to prove himself and if hes no good in 6 months then fair enough, but until then show a little bit of faith in him! he did score on debut barring a pisspoor referee decision! had that goal stood you would prob all thinks hes a hero, i personally thought he was far better than babel last game but cos babel scored no one says anything. babel could be a great player but hes never going to reach his potential at liverpool.

Would like to know the ed's opinion on the loan of aqualini he looked quality and was always looked to quickin the play and move it forward unlike lucas seems a strange one to me wot u think ed??

{Editors Note: I agree that Aquilani is a good player but he was a really bad buy made by Rafa. We paid way over the odds and I think both the club and player would be happy to part company if a buyer could be found at the right price. The loan is an interim solution. Either the club or the player has made a decision that he has no future at Liverpool. As for Lucas he has ridden out a lot of criticism and just got on with it.}

Clearly the lad who posted below is posing as a Liverpool fan but is probably either a City, Man U, Chelsea, Everton or Arsenal fan because of the flagrent negativity. Expect the announcement of the take over of Liverpool this week (maybe even tomorrow) and I am glad to see that the board have kept their dealings quiet recently as doing our dirty undies in public seemed to have been a feature over the past few years. I hope that the recent rumour of David Trezeguet turns out to be true as the lad would be a good option to tied us over until the next summer transfer window. I know that his best years are past him but the lads a class act.

News from the grapevine, Ola Toivonen has been told by PSV he cannot leave this summer, Bryan Ruiz on the other hand can . but doesn't want to play in England.

Sergio Aguero is a fans transfer target and not LFC's.

Ronaldinho . . what a load of nonsense!

Who does that leave? Crouch? Remy? Trezeguet?

Im sorry Kopites, but it looks like we won't be signing a QUALITY centre forward, cos of lack of resources and quality left in the market.

Ashley Young, is not coming to Anfield as I have been told Villa won't entertain offers less than 22m-25m.

Javi Martinez is quality but not Roy's cup of tea.

Salcido seems a likely target and perhaps, a swap deal with some of the intern and barca leftovers for mascha and kuyt.

Passion, drive and determination may get us back i the top 4, not quality, cos we lack it heaps in comparison to the rest

23 Aug 2010 16:10:26
What Mascherano is worth is exactly the amount that Liverpool and his buyer will agree on.If that amount is £10, that will be his worth;if it is £10m, that will also be his value. This will be determined by two things:the buyer's need to get his man, and Liverpool's need to sell.
So, whatever a player is sold for, that's exactly what he's worth.

23 Aug 2010 16:06:17

For Liverpool FC's starting 11, I would say its only left back that's needed, however I cannot see Roy signing one till next year (Tawio on a free maybe). Roy is looking just to develop the squad by bringing in a few new face, but with the money available most of these are not players in the prime of their career as people have mentioned before. It is fair to say Liverpool squad needs strengthing and I think Roy is going the right way about it! Graduately bringing the youngesters in such as Pacheco, Kelly, Wilson etc. And these are not just any young players to fill positions that we are weak. He's bringing in players that are good enough to benefit the squad! Going back to the point brought up before regarding older players coming in, do you think for one second they will be for are starting 11? They will be very good quality bench players which Liverpool last year lacked serverely an who will benefit the squad.

If woy thinks trezeguet salcido and poulsen are the way too take us forward then i am absolutley gutted , this is not fulham fc this is liverpool fc , we dnt want old over the hill players , if u can only afford one big player then buy one , dnt buy loads of crap just for the sake of it ,
shelvy looks ten times better than poulsen ,
aquilani better than lucas
pacheco n ngog better than trez

loads of crap? joe cole an poulsen both international players, poulsen good squad player better than lucas, hodgeson is mixing old and new, yes pacheco should get a chance but he's too inexperienced to play upfront on his own, treze would add good experience with nando who will inevitebly get injured, i like roys ideas, and as for one big buy, the club don't have the money for a big buy, hence roy lookin in the bargain basement! and he's shippin out all the rubbish benitez brought in,

23 Aug 2010 15:56:18
Now that huang has been and gone again. will someof you just maybe start to accept he was an opportunist seeking free publicity?.

Pcp have been working hard on trying to secure a deal on behalf of shiek Mohammed.
The abu dhabi interestis also still there.

So knock what you want and believe what you want, but after the abuse I had from the last time I may not post anymore.

Have you seen how out of his depth Dalla Valle was in pre-season? Did you notice how Pacheco struggled in his Europa cup start? You didn't? Well then , that explains why you don't play them in a crunch away match against the richest team in the Prem. Glad I could clear this up for you!

The answer is very simple. . BA is trying to compete with more efficient airlines from all over the world and yet it's unions try their best to prevent it from happening. If Broughton and the BA board continue to give in to union madness they will ultimately all lose their jobs when BA goes bust

23 Aug 2010 15:28:47
Liverpool to sign trezuguet(spelling) on a loan and salcido for 2.5 million , that will be the only signings to be made , masch will be sold on the last few days for 20million pounds and hodgson will state he didn't have enough time to use the money to sign another player , which is lies that money will go direct to gillet n hicks , takeover has not happened because g & h are refusing to sell at a low price can't no one seem to see its obvious , all us liverpool fans were blinded bye the signing of joe cole ,
take a real look nothings changed

23 Aug 2010 10:32:23Liverpool RumoursQUESTION MORE THAN RUMOURif Barca held out for £28m for Yaya Toure, then why on earth do they think £18m is enough for Masch.?

if it had been any other club, except city, yaya's price would have been much lower. barca knew they could squeeze 28m out of those suckers. masch is a better player than yaya, granted, but its who you sell to determines their price

{Editor Comment: every club highers thier prices when city come calling, footballs a business and everyone adds a bit of extra money on when the rich come knocking.

PSV DON`T WANT TO SELL TOIVONEN

Transfer Specials. Click here to bet.
PSV insist they will not sell Liverpool transfer target Ola Toivonen this summer.

The Reds have been linked with a move for the 24-year-old striker and team-mate Carlos Salcido - and Kenny Dalglish was reported to have watched PSV's 3-1 victory over AZ Alkmaar on Sunday.

The Dutch club's sporting director Marcel Brands is not worried by interest in the Swede and thinks he will not move on during the current transfer window.

"I also read about that (Dalglish's trip) in the newspaper, but I didn't see him at the stadium and it is not important. We don't want to lose Ola during this transfer window, " Brands told fotbollskanalen.se.

"They called us last Thursday, in the morning, and asked how much we wanted for Ola Toivanen, but our answer was clear: we will not sell him at this point. We have not heard from them since.

"To have people from other clubs in the stands is quite normal. PSV are a big club and we get visits like that every week."

Masch mostly on deadline day . Barca are playing the dirty game now , if you know what i mean. {Editor's Note: I don't know what you mean. It was obvious that if only one team is interested in the player (who many Liverpool fans grossly over value) then the bidding would start low. It is simply a case as far as I can see of the two clubs seeing if they can negotiate a price that is acceptable to both parties.}
[/ quote]

Its about getting him for free if he won't go for cheap.

Illusion

{Editor's Note: I am not sure how they would get him for free without waiting for his contract to expire?}

I believe he's referring to too the fact that Masch, Liverpool and Barcelona all know he's only going to go there. . with only a yr left Barcelona (who always pay well under the odds for there players by getting the player themselves to push through the deal) will have offered liverpool silly money saying either take it now or will have him for nothing very soon! Don't be surprised if the actual amount they have offered is far less than people have been quoting on here as they will offer only what they think liverpool value him at for a yr's service. .
Also don't be surprised to see his valuation goes far above`what people have been qouting as his price maybe even more than rafa's 50mil once his settled in a spanish league and team that will suit his game. .

Lets just hope he does an alonso and get's caught with his trousers down so his wife leaves him. . that way will get to keep him. sigh a new contract and within a yr or two will have one of the top player s in the world (which he will be once his luck changes and those technically fantastic strikes of the ball start going in)

InHisShadow

{Editor's Note: Firstly - Mascherano has more than a year left on his contract so the argument does not hold water. Secondly there is no way he was ever worth any of the outrageous figures being quoted for the player. If we can get anything above £15M I see it as a good deal.}

The following article has been written by Nick Harris and not by me. However, I do agree that it summarises the situation well in that Huang withdrew because he was unable to provide proof of sufficient funding and was unwilling to identify any of his backers. I beieve that Huang was seeking the period of exclusivity in order to gain time to find some funding.

Huang is a self publicizing charlatan who was never at any time in a position to purchase Liverpool. It is a shame that there are still a number of Liverpool fans who believe him to be a multi-billionaire and the second coming.

Sharkey.

"Liverpool bidder Kenny Huang withdrew interest after failing to gain exclusivity dealBy

23 August 2010

Kenny Huang requested a period of exclusivity for his putative bid for Liverpool but was denied it after failing to satisfy some key requirements to gain such exclusivity, sportingintelligence understands.

Huang withdrew from the running for Liverpool on Friday without providing any reason. It has been reported that he was unhappy with the behaviour and demands of the Liverpool chairman, Martin Broughton.

We understand that the Liverpool board has never been opposed, in principle, to granting an exclusivity period to any bidder in order to enable that bidder to have access to the books, and work on finer details of outline plans.

But the conditions for granting such exclusivity included proof of funds, and revealing the identities of financial backers.

It is understood that, contrary to widespread reports elsewhere, Huang was either unable or unwilling to provide proof of funds, and unable or unwilling to provide details about the identity of his backers. His request for exclusivity was therefore denied. He pulled out.

There remains a sincere belief, in some quarters, that Kenny Huang was a credible bidder with guarantees of funding and long-term plans for the club. Others retain serious doubts.

To date there has been no proof provided that Huang is, or was ever, backed by the CIC sovereign wealth fund of China, or any other backer of that nature."

Come on here quite alot due to being a liverpool supporter, but quite frankly some of the rumours are ridiculous and un-credible! For example I know the Ashley young to Liverpool are completely un-true, I am friends with Ashleys younger brother Kyle who plays in Arsenals academy. By what I know Ashley is like the rumours say annoyed with Villa in the way they treated Oneill who he highly respects but that does not mean he wants to come to lpool, he is a huge Arsenal supporter and would love a move there to be closer to his family and help his brother progress. Also while having a little banter with him I asked whether he would ever consider playing for Tottenham (the team his dad supports) and he quite bluntly told me to F off so sorry about the spurs rumours but they are also un-true he will stay at villa this season and weather out the storm unless his dream club arsenal come in for him (highly unlikely at the present time).

The debt situation at Liverpool is obviously bad (£381m) but according to The Sundaty Times yesterday the debt problem is far far worse in Spain. Apart from the Spanish economy being a basket case and on the verge of collapse with unemployment atleast 20%, the top Spanish clubs have the following debts - Real Madrid £589m, Barcelona £422m, Valencia £477m, Atletico Madrid £441m, Villarreal £207m. The total debt of La liga's top 20 clubs is £3.04bn as opposed to the English PL top 20 clubs of £2.2bn.
So 'up yours' Guillem Balague when you slag off Liverpool and its debt situation! It is clearly bad but have look in your own back yard first.

BIG GLEN JOHNSON UPDATE. .

I broke the massive news about Rafas imminenet departure to you a few months ago when I told you all that it was Torres haircut which led to a "fresh start" at Anfield. .

Now - I can officially reveal that Glen Johnson was talking to Gerrard about his superstitious side. .

When Glen asked Stevie "I see Rooney didn't change his gloves for weeks when he went on a goal run last season, anything you do Mate?"

Gerrard pointed to his right boot and told him " I don't change my predator- look" (as he pointed to a slightly muddy but fairly clean 2009 edition adidas predator boot.

UNFORTUNATELY - glen Johnson thought he was advising him on the PREDATOR LOOK (The Movie character)- hence his new horrendous hair piece.

So Torres lost his locks, and Johnson gained some. .

All will result in a top 4 finish for LFC this year. .

Did anybody read the Martin Samuel article in this morning Daily Mail about Kenny Huang? It seems to be widelybelieved and well known in the right circles that Mr Huang never had the money to buy Liverpool and as stated in past weeks the winning bid will be the one that no none in the public knew anything about (just as Keith Harris the takeover guru suggested in his interview on Talksport - the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast - a couple of weeks ago.)
Forget Kirdi and Huang. My bet goes on Kuwait, Dubai or Saudi as probable winners. Why not Google Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Al Saud.

Who every put the Ronaldinho at Liverpool needs to have a reality check! He was playing for AC V's Juve in a friendly last night at 10PM.Please if you going to post on here at least write something of some value!

{Editor's Note: It is a well known fact that Ronaldinho has use of Craig Bellamy's time machine.}

Hi ED what do you think about Lucas Leiva can you se him in first XI tonight?

{Editor's Note: I would expect him to start tonight.}

23 Aug 2010 11:39:30
Right i have never posted anything before.
but i have been reading the rumours everyday for the past two weeks.
i mean to me it seems like we will get ashley young this final transfer week along with ola but i have been reading some of the posts bout ronaldiniho and theres no doubt he would be a good signing even if he doesn't have the pace but has anyone seen this guys touch for the football, i reckon he could really bring liverpool on because everyone respects him. ashley young would be an amazing signing i have always wanted him at liverpool cause we have really got to get a pacy and threatining winger. ola would be good because torres needs someone to link up with i mean i know us liverpudlians would much rather have kin aguero but due to funds he'll stay put. i hope kuyt goes because he is an absolute workhorse we all know but we need a flare in our team and if that means sacrificing kuyt then so be it. masch will go to barca i think , he is happy at lfc but just doesn't like england can't really blame him so good luck monster.
lets all get behind the red men today and get a win under our belt and a bit of confidence.
ade the red fella :D

Hi ed, only a quick message to people who think SWP would not be good enough for Liverpool! Why do you think this?

Last season he scored a goal ever 3.4 games he played. And has scored a goal every 6.4 games his whole carear!
If we had the money and he had not transfered would you prefer Milner? And for those of you who say Young?
Milner - Who averaged a goal every 4.1 games, or 8.3 over his whole carear?!?! No i didn't think so!

Young - Who averaged a goal every 5 games, or 4.4 over his whole carear! Who didn't even come close 2 SWP's form last season!

So stop being so dumb, as SWP would be a great singing for us! So would Young for that matter, but the likely hood of us signing them this transfer window if ever are slim!

The whole situation has got to get sorted one way or another soon. I don't want to get to next April & be hoping chelski don't loose again. If the scum get our record I want it to be us fighting to save it!

23 Aug 2010 07:54:13
Ronaldinho! We may as well be discussing Pele signing for us as a reality - but to get excited by it/ believe it.

That's it for me lads. It's been great, but jeeeeesus, i'm going back to the real world.

Cuckoo, cuckoo

23 Aug 2010 06:59:17
Okay, all these ridiculous rumours have to end. Liverpool as the ed has already stated are making 1 more signing, TBH I think liverpools team right now is just about ready to contend with the likes of chelski and the mancs, forget about arsenal (with an inform reina we could beat them anyday) but it would be really nice to get a nice winger like ruiz and a striker, never seen this ola lad play. I would love to see the likes of aguero and VDV come in, but its not possible with those damn yanks, so before we are all talking about all these multi-million dollar players we need to remember that we don't have the funds. Stop with all the ronaldinho crap, same with fulham and man sh* ty rumours, we are liverpool we don't need these mediocre players. Let's wish for the best today boys YNWA

Inter Milan president Moratti plays waiting game over Liverpool attacker Kuyt

Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti was coy last night over their pursuit of Liverpool attacker Dirk Kuyt. Moratti was asked about the offer during last night's Italian Super Cup win against AS Roma.
"Does Wesley Sneijder want Kuyt to join him at Inter? Wesley must wait and so must Kuyt, " said the patron.
He was also told of Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson's claim that he had personally spoken to Moratti, receiving an assurance Inter would not sign any of his players. "Everyone can say what they want."

While Liverpool midfielder Aquilani happy to return to Italy with Juventus
Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani is delighted with his loan move to Juventus.
Juve's season-long deal for Aquilani includes an option to buy outright. He told Tuttomercatoweb.com: "I am so happy to be back in Italy. "Juve are a side that can challenge for the Scudetto. I hope we can do well, along with Milos Krasic. "I returned for Juventus, but also so that I could recapture my place in the Italy squad. I have not yet spoken to Coach Del Neri, but I will do tomorrow. I hope to do well."
Aquilani was asked about rumours he could've returned to AS Roma. "No, there were no other offers from different clubs."

Our squad now lacks depth after the depature of A.Aquilani. .
J.Mascherano, L.Lucas and C.Poulsen are all defensive midfielders. .what will happen should S.Gerrard get injured or suspended?Aquilani looked a better player than Lucas at the end of last season. .goals against portsmouth and a.madrid. .or does Roy have something on his sleeves?Yep he does. .we will sign SWP, OLA and TURAN.

23 Aug 2010 01:13:36
So Ed, (nice site btw) - can we expect anything official from LFC regarding transfers or on the takeover situation? Its hard to be optimistic about either with conflicting rumours.

Personally I think we could do with a striker as 3 options alone arnt enough in the Prem, top sides have 4 or more.

{Editor's Note: I would guess that there will be a statement on the takeover situation this week; and it will likely based upon the warm-feeling approach to no news.}

With regards to Kuyt he is a model pro who works his arse off. Ashley Young and players like that are tempremental. You know what you will get when you put him across that white line and its every ounce of energy the lad has got. That's all I ask from our players.

I'm so looking forward to the Man City clash Tommorrow it will be a good match but i can see LFC all ove it tbh as Man City simply can't gel as a team and are quite simply jus a team of individuals if you ask me so them owners of them can keep spending money because i can't see them gaining it back.
At the end of the day money can't buty SUCCESS!
This would be my most favourable team to play tommorrow:
REINA

JOHNSON CARRAGHER SKRTEL AGGER

KUYT GERRARD MASCH POULSEN JOVANOVIC

TORRES

Pete:
"Anyhoo. . . . If the ED or that Blaire Mayne chappie could tell me something positive to enable me to at least sleep for more than 1 hour 13 mins (my record over last 2 mths). . . . I'd be grateful."

Calm down :- if its really that bad then do what I do, get yourself the 2005 cl final dvd and watch it. . the good thing about that game, is the feeling it could n't got any worse for us at half time, but our team's determination and fight pulled us to victory . similar circumstance now, where are at a low point and about to start our come back.

Roy

That's excatly what i do Roy everytime i hear or read anything about the Takeover i take myself to my happy place the Ataturk Stadium May 2005.

In the past few months i've been to Istanbul more times than Arda Turan.

There's only one thing we can do all LFC fans is be patient no matter what you hear on this site or read in the very unreliable newspapers the truth is nobody know's. I was convinced the club was sold in May and i've been put in my place and rightly so i was way of the mark.

BUT i'm very interested in who Keith Harris represents as i said so just after his interview on SkySportsNews 2 weeks ago If he is serious then he could be the one watch. The newspapers havn't even mentioned him as involved in any capacity of the sale of LFC (which is a good thing) as the newspapers have written complete sh*t about our club and have done for years.

Has anybody else noticed that spurs are after liverpool targets this year ?? for example simon kjear liverpool were linked with in in january nd then in the summer spurs were aswell. then arda turan aswell. the list actually goes on , joe cole, diego forlan nd i even heard about spurs making a move for danny wilson. liverpool to be taken over before deadline day and sign a world class forward nd decent left back.
