Seems like most of them posters are thinking that the season is ending. LOOK, the transfer window has not ended. We only played about 4-5 competitive matches, and you alll are treating it as if we are already in a bad postion on the table. Why not just calm the hell down at spectate.

Watching Barcelona vs Real.
Why wish for 4th spot ?
We couldn't live with teams like this.

A lot of posters complaining about the team tonight, If any of you are season ticket holders, i'll take it off your hands, you've obviously given up after 1 week! Me I'll support LFC all the way through this life and the next! Ged

Love the bitching but didn't we win?

23 Aug 2012 23:14:15
Who to believe-'watch this space' or 'remember this name'. Both put forward compelling information. Which one has us down for Sahin, Kaka, Isco + sturridge? That is the ITK legend for me! Sorry Eds but you need to stop trying to be realistic and try making stuff up instead!

Personally, I think Watch This Space and Remember The Name are both just making stuff up. Now that Don't Shoot The Messenger- he seems to know what he's about!

Add my two penn'orth:

Surely most of the naysayers on here are just trolls?

Either that or you need to find a bit of perspective in your lives; enjoy your football for what it is, entertainment with a few ups and downs, and explore other avenues like bridge, model-making and crochet.

Accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative, and shout 'em on 'til you're red in the face!

I thank you.

Dr S. Atire.

To accentuate the positives and eliminate the negatives every game wud have to be perfect or else u just turn a blind eye. maybe u wer the linesman that pulled borini up on 2 occasions tonight, football needs pros and cons or else we'd all be saying every team played well then ur on a fast track to mediocracy. fan expectation is what drives clubs and bring in revenue. im with u if ur on about before games and during but after the fact fans have an opinion, whatever good r bad and thats why this is a banter site. we can thrash it out and see what fans really think . i for one like the criticism it shows how dearly our club is held. I think thow that liverpool the institution is something everyone should buy into it is my soul, i mean i thought i was in cardiac arrest when we hit the post tonight .
phew nearly but a false alarm even thow the wife phoned the ambulance and when the landed i was ok so they nestled on the couch and had some bevs for the 2nd half lol. all im saying is dont ring emergency ther out for the count now haa haa
lighten up dr this is what its all about lol

what i thought of tonights game
borini did miss the one off the post but i have to say some of his runs wer excellent, the ones that wer flagged wer wrong decisions and with more incisive passes hed have been in on a couple of more occasions. sterling was impressive first half but lets hold on to him with a tight rein i think maybe it wud be best utilise him from the bench at the moment ,wud be an awful shame if we burnt out a talent like that at his tender age . downing done well enough , reina i cant ask more of. adam linked well with raheem at times but was caught in posession a bit too often, spearing a trier and is one that wants to do well but just doesnt have it but u got to love his attitude . henderson we saw good and bad in his play. kelly i really like and i do beleive he will be a centre back and a darn good one. robinson done alot of things well but was caught a couple of times, but in his position if ur not ur world class but he will get ther. joe allen is a player of substance and he will be very good for us, his simple passing cannot be overly stated and was missing from us before he came on. agger was not his dependable self maybe due to all the furore with city, while carragher was just not comfortable passing the ball. now the player i was most disappointed with shelvey , whom i think will be a good player for us, but tonight he rused into tackles , gave away the ball far too often and i think had his worst game that i can remember.
on the whole we done ok i just allways got the impression during the game we wud just do enough and it worked out that way. in my view wer learning how to play these new systems and hopefully we get it right soon, all we can do is get behind em and not bemoan every wayward pass it gonna happen while we are cutting our teeth playing this style of football. when it does come together i think we will have alot to cheer about.
finally to all liverpool supporters keep the dream alive in our team and give the team extra praise from the sidelines and it will happen sooner rather than later. i have to say im a sceptic but i like the way this team is heading.
Anfield support is key to help our young team mature on the pitch.
so get behind all of them and lets see ho far we get in year 1 of what i hope to be a succesful number of seasons.
YNWA livlim

You at least seemed to be watching the match - the result was what mattered with a team of perhaps 3 regulars. Sterling is very exciting so why think about buying a 20mil winger now. Felt Adam and Carragher were out of touch with the passing and whilst Spearing tries hard he's not there. Carragher may cost us dearly sunday is my worry.
The best thing BR is doing is using the young talent we have so my gut feeling is the future is very bright.

23 Aug 2012 23:09:43
Well rogers has shed a bit of light on the sahin situation. It's literally a choice between arsenal and Liverpool where the player has listened to both offers and should make a decision by tomorrow, shouldn't drag it out any longer.

23 Aug 2012 23:08:32
Hi, when fsg bought the club they said all debts except serviceable ones have been cleared. However a few eds have said the owners are having to put 100m a year to run the club. i was wondering why this is especially as we have a lot less debts and signed record sponsership deals? {Ed001's Note - because our wage bill is too high.}

Tom werner said in an interview just after the takeover though that if anything they were looking to increase the wage bill on lfc tv! So it seems strange that now we are looking to reduce it. I say that because wages in football are simply unsustainable and are eventually going to ruin it.

Ian the red {Ed001's Note - yes but that was before they actually saw how little the club makes without the stadium sorted. That needs to be dealt with soon.}

23 Aug 2012 23:05:57
WOW!!! just read some posts, i cannot understand how you can call some players poor. borini is still settling in, hendo actually was good and i think allen should be a deffo in mid with lucas and hendo/shelvy and use adam and gerrard as back up. i really hope carrol doesnt go and he gets a chance to show what he is about cos imo he would have been pefect tonight. i dont know how you people can call your selves supporters when all you do is come on here and whinge. yes we could have played better but dont take anything away from hearts the were realy good tonight and deserved something from the game, they pushed us all the way and hopefully their fans showed some of you so-called lfc fans how to really support. really getting fed up of some of you people on here.

Eds, what is the latest you know on Sahin as Twitter seems to have gone mad today going on about us being favourites to land him now. Do you read this the same way?
Cheers all

BobbyF {Ed002's Note - As I said earlier, expect an answer tomorrow.}

That loan guy-OG who scored for us=Great finisher-one chance=one goal

23 Aug 2012 22:52:52
I honestly can't believe so many people like sturridge! Little pole pls press agree if you want him or disagree if you don't thanks.

U have a little pole? See how a simple spelling mistake can ruin a sentence?lol

Sturridge is a pole

Rumour has it's sahin to have a medical at Liverpool tomorrow how true is this eds ? Thanks

23 Aug 2012 22:52:50
i reckon sahin will sign to us tommorow

23 Aug 2012 22:51:54
just watched the game on itv4+1 as i missed the first half on itv 4 well it seems sparky found pepe in time for the match, didnt get a shave but seemed to be happy around familiar faces. lol. not bad tonight seemed a bit disjointed in first half, adam tried too hard, sterloing was good but overall not bad. still seems to me that we havent got the "poacher" we need but im optimistic we will do well.
huddz red
p.s oh and i see the post (b******) has come to haunt us for a second time this season already.

23 Aug 2012 22:50:26
eds, if agger does leave, do you think we'd have any interest in re-signing mascherano as a replacement?
YNWA {Ed002's Note - I would doubt it.}

23 Aug 2012 22:50:20
Brendan Rodgers expects to discover in the next 24 hours whether Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin will join Liverpool on loan.

The manager was asked about a potential move in his press conference following the 1-0 victory over Hearts.

He said: "Hopefully in the next 24 hours we'll get some confirmation on that.

"It's quite far [along the line]. He's a very good footballer
I guess we will know one way or the other soon enough simonpw

23 Aug 2012 22:49:57
Rodgers confident we will sign Sahin.
Well done Rodgers, that is very good stuff
GOD

23 Aug 2012 22:49:54
Far too many back passes

Yes and it's negetive football. {Ed001's Note - it wasn't so negative when we were doing exactly that in the 70s and 80s though was it? I can remember the back pass rule being introduced and everyone saying Liverpool would never win a thing without being able to pass back to the keeper.}

Dude your the first one to mention that and i totally agree the worst thing is alot of them were unneccessary with other options around lets just hope the first team dont do that so much

I don't think it's negative at all. It simply resets the play moving forward while maintaining possession.

Its the goddam system we play. Watch the game and understand what they are trying to do FFS!

23 Aug 2012 22:46:32
There's alot of praise for Sterling at the moment and rightly so but, Joe Allen was amazing when he comeon.

Allen could fit into the Barca squad he is that good.

Composure, accuarcy, awareness the list could go on but i'd be here all day.

KT!

Agree...not to jinx anything so early on but Allen seemed a class apart from his teammates. We're clearly missing a spark in the final third though.
Funnily enough, Al Jazeera cut over to the Clasico as soon as the LFC game was finished and wow...we obviously have a looooong way to go to match Barca's class. I would give my left arm for any one of Iniesta or Messi.

Doha Red

And some think he isnt worth £15million!

I want Raheem in the team he is the confident guy in the match.

I think that may be a tad much, but he is very, very good. His composure on the ball when under pressure is top notch, only wish I could say the same for the rest of the team.

So far I think both Borini and Allen are quite good signings. Hoping Assaidi is as well!

23 Aug 2012 22:27:04
Got to say that I thought the young lads did well tonight and they will learn massively from this game. I think we still need to learn how to open teams up in the final third, but that will come with time on the training pitch. I wanted to see a bit more of Morgan. All in all, a good result, and bring on City.
Nigel

23 Aug 2012 22:26:29
Even Fowler said this squads not as good as past squads and it;ll be difficult

23 Aug 2012 22:25:20
Surely again-fsg can see we need a striker

Borini not the man. he miss a easy one today.

Suarez missed a bunch and in a game we ended up losing. Don't see people calling for his head. Give the kid a break already, it's what, the third time he's played for us?

23 Aug 2012 22:25:11
I have supported Liverpool for 35 years and became a sad addict of this site last year. However, due to the increasing negativity towards the club, the manager and tonight players on the pitch when the first half has not even finished, I won't be checking in again. Eds you all do a great job but I can't put up with all of the small minded (I want success and I want it now) persons that constantly whine like spoilt kids. Good luck for the rest of the season
Cornish

I completely agree but I dunno how you could stop going on this site its so addicting even though it iterates me the amount of negativity..

People aren't stupid, we know we can't have success right away, all we want to see is a decent level of football and that is absolutely not what we are seeing.

23 Aug 2012 22:24:14
Even West Ham seem to have as much dosh as us for player buys

Complete nonsense. We have spent the best pat of 30 million without recovering much at all. What do you people want?!
REDditch

We want better players

23 Aug 2012 22:43:40
Can eds please give me a
Honest assessment of the andy Carroll saga, will he go or will he stay in his opinion?

Be nice if this was actualy posted.

23 Aug 2012 22:42:46
Hey eds. any of use convinced that sahin will be a Liverpool player this season after all this reporting tonight? Or could it just be the usually sh*t these journalist talk?

23 Aug 2012 22:41:20
Could everyone please get of the case of Downing, Adam etc. they may not be good enough for Liverpool the way they've been playing, but it was our previous manager who bought them for very over inflated fees.

It is not their fault and whilst they wear the red shirt they should be spurred on every single game. Kenny inherited a great squad first time round as manager, was backed to the hilt by Blackburn and succeeded and also by Liverpool the second time round, where he failed. of course he wanted Liverpool to succeed but he was out of his depth, some of his decisions in the media were appalling and quite frankly embarrasing.

He will always be a Liverpool legend no doubt about that, and perhaps my favourite player of all time, but certain fans are consistently blinded by his success as a player, and still singing his name from the Kop instead of singing for Rodgers.

This is not the Liverpool way. Stop being so negative one game in to the league season and back the Rodgers revolution. It may take time, but we need to be patient.

rikdangerous

Why should we stop singing Daglish's name again??
I hope Brendan Rodgers is successful at Liverpool and I am 100% behind him but what has that got to do with singing the name of our greatest player and twice manager??
I am baffled by your logic.....
So we should sing Rodgers name but not Daglish..... Are you mad...... I hope in a years time we are all singing Brendan Rodgers name but we will have to wait and see. I strongly believe he is the right man for the job but time will tell.
And just because Daglish was the manager before Rodgers it does not mean that we should feel guilty about cheering his name from the rooftops as though its an insult to Brendan Rodgers when we do it.

Just mentioned on liverpool tv the BR hoping to tie up the sahin deal in the next 24 hrs, looks like this could happen

23 Aug 2012 22:40:03
We all know press make up s ite.Eds do you feel their quote of us overspending a very limited/tight budgets correct? Their saying thats why we aint bid for Dempsey or anyone else. And that anymore additions depend on player outgoings. Must admit seems to add up with lack've Striker options/Missing proposed targets

Does anyone ever think wer playing down the amount of money we have so as not to pay overinflated prices as we have in previous seasons?
we'll get our players, the ones liverpool want not the media

23 Aug 2012 22:32:24
Henderson was shoved in his unfavoured position again, Shelvey needs another loan. Spearing needs to go. Carragher needs a zimaframe, push Kelly into his favoured centre half position. Splash the cash for a exciting player for the right to come inside on his left either johnson or ramirez, ability to beat people.

In my opinion, which doesn't mean much, that is a decent solution if it was to be pulled off.

Thanks
Lenny

23 Aug 2012 22:31:03
Real have accepted #LFC's offer to pay 70 per cent of Sahin's wages to take him on loan for the rest of the season. (Times)

23 Aug 2012 22:17:13
Looks like Nuri Sahin is close to secure,, Why else would Rodgers even talk about it let alone put it on the offical site. Have you any thoughts ed002? {Ed002's Note - There should be an answer tomorrow.}

23 Aug 2012 22:23:14
BR on Sahin: Hopefully in the next 24hrs we'll get some confirmation on that. It's quite far [along the line]. He's a very good footballer

Ed would rodgers comment on it if it wasnt gunna happen and would they put it on the site if he wasnt joining i heard he was informed just before the game, im sure they know where they stand.

BenO' {Ed001's Note - I don't think he should have said anything regardless until the deal is signed. It was not right and I am not comfortable with our manager discussing other team's players.}

The fact that he did mention it, suggests he is confident of getting him though.

I agree with the Ed. What happened to 'behind closed doors until it's signed and sealed.'

Aqll he said was we will know in 24 hrs and hes a good player saying nothing wouldnt be smart he said he will try be honest to the fans

ED, maybe he knew days ago that it was gonna happen?
jonnybarnes89-90 {Ed001's Note - I don't care, this is not the Liverpool way.}

He's answering a question honestly, so I don't mind that he knows the PR limits. What I don't like is the LFC page has 'Sahin latest' with him in a Real Madrid shirt in the main picture. That is too far, the deal could easily fall through and we'd look fools. I don't mind The Liverpool Way being adapted slightly adding honesty, but not in this way please.

23 Aug 2012 22:23:06
Morgan should've got longer.Sterling excellent for one so young. Still no one in box at times. Borini did ok but bad miss.Adam lazy git-see Reina going nuts at him? Shelvey im afraid(overall)going backwards. Dont like Hendo, but he did better tonight imo. Do rate Kelly hes gona be superb for us

23 Aug 2012 22:22:08
Thought Henderson was very much the unsung hero tonight. Industrious and covered an immense amount of ground. RED LENIN

Who cares how much he ran around, that's all he seems to be capable of doing, and passing backwards. Until he starts contributing to some goals, beating his man, being more confident, asking for the ball instead of pointing to another player (passing responsibility) and generally showing he is worth 16m, then i'm afraid I will not be impressed.

23 Aug 2012 22:21:37
I knew there was something going on and Brendan Rodgers has confirmed he will find out in the next 24 hours if Nuri Sahin will join Liverpool. still a 50/50 chance then.

23 Aug 2012 22:21:00
It looks like Sahin is on his way, on official website after the match:Rodgers suggests it should be confirmed-in next 24 hrs , it is far down the line. Baby steps but I believe Rodgers given time will create a footballing dynasty with proper entertaining football.Tika taka

23 Aug 2012 22:19:47
Proud to be a Hearts fan tonight.

Tynecastle jumping for full 90 minutes including right after Liverpool goal.

We played a supposed 'second string' Liverpool, and while you might not rate them, Henderson, Adam, Reina, Borini, Agger, Downing are big buys and big names. I'm guessing this 'youth team' of Liverpool's cost over £120m? Our wage cap is £2,000 per week. And we got beat by an own goal.

We got told the lad Sterling is the next big thing down south. Templeton was the best winger on the park. He cost £55,000 from Stenhousemuir.

I'm not on to knock your club - but I can only compare to the mauling we got from Spurs this time last year. Liverpool looked like a Championship team in comparison and Rodgers has a big job on his hands, but I'd trust him more than Kenny to do it.

See you next week.

Hearts. {Ed001's Note - Templeton didn't even play on the wing, did you not bother to watch the game?}

'I'm not on to knock your club'> Makes comment comparing us to sides in a lower division...

Seems Legit.

Sterling was the best player by a mile. Hearts ran around like headless chickens for 90 minutes but didn't cause any trouble. Mickey Mouse club in a Mickey Mouse league.

See next week when we field a decent line up, Sterling tore your right back to bits by the way

Templeton looks a good player but he wasn't on the wing much tonight.
A 1-0 win away in Europe (against anybody) is a decent result.
Your comparisons are pretty moot considering we got the required result without really breaking sweat.
Young sterling terrorized your defence in the first half (in his first competitive start).
You gave us a game though.
ANFIELDPETE

Man at the end of the day its eleven fit humans vs eleven fit humans sterling is 17 just a kid and when wasnt getting the chop was leaving your ausie in his dust also the small teams always put it up to bigger teams in the cup.very common occurence these days.i dont know any1 to brag when there teams looe to an own goal but enjoy the feeling buddy

Lets see what happens next week mate :D

I was impressed with Hearts last night myself. Spurs had not just changed their manager and system when they played you last season. Temple to looks a very good player and I have heard Driver is also. It is hard to believe that you don't pay over 2k a week as Webster has played in both the prem with Wigan and Europe with Rangers. It is a good bit of business, see you next week.
scouse_Pride

We always do this against smaller clubs to ensure we get a big crowd at home

match analysis

i heard rumours liverpool would play tika-taka football this season, all i saw tonight was tika-crap im under pressure lets pass it to the keeper and put him under massive pressure or just boot it forward and lose the ball!

carragher - legend, i love the guy, but on the 9 minute mark the camera zoomed in on him and it looked like he had just done a london marathon and was looking for somewhere to collapse!

Borrini - one of the eds has been saying he believes he can score around 25 a season, i reckon he could be right he looks good.

adam - actually played well!

sterling - i can see what the hype is all about but im sure i saw the referee break wind as he walked passed sterling and he nearly fell over! the lad needs to beef up a bit i think, would be great as an impact sub.

downing - i heard rumours he actually came on as a sub today, i think this is a lie though!

people may say we had a young inexperienced side but so did hearts and they made us look pants!

rant over

very very worried fan, i paid my city fan of a mate £10 we would win 2-1 on sunday, heres to dreams coming true!

love yous all

john

To be fair I thought sterling stayed on his feet well for his size!

Wasn't our strongest side remember plus it will take time for the players to adapt

With Allen and Lucas in the midfield, things will improve.

Just a reminder for you John sterling is just 17, he barely has any facial hair let alone natural muscle. He will beef up in time, he will also get a lot quicker and smarter, frightening.

Raheem is the man of the match.

I found myself agreeing with you until you mentioned Adam....
He has played a total of what 25-30 games for Liverpool and he is already in my top 5 worst players in our history in my opinion....
Corners worth 10 million my ar*e.
Would be delighted if I never saw him again in a red shirt. Honest but fair!

23 Aug 2012 22:15:08
Ed I'm just wondering why BR never gave Morgan a little more game time. As I personally believe if ur good enough your old enough and tonight's game would of been good to see him for maybe 20 mins {Ed001's Note - because Borini still needs time to settle in as well.}

23 Aug 2012 22:13:48
Think we need to hire a rake of Sports Psychologists. A lot of the players that have been at Liverpool for through the last 2 years or so look beaten before they even begin. It's a shame, we have some talented players but something is weighing them all down. They don't look like they've enjoyed a game of football for 2 years or so, and I can imagine them thinking 'here we go again' as soon as we hit the post or concede a goal. Attitudes need to change. They need to respond to Rodgers.

-Shane.

Could be something to do with fans getting on players backs. Just a thought.

23 Aug 2012 22:10:50
now that sahin is coming in, how in the world do we have room for all these CM's...somethings gotta give here, hope its spearing and adam on their way although i dont dislike them its the only way.
ps 2-1 over city at the weekend

phillyred

Why act as if we've already got sahin in our squad. Till the player has signed for whichever club don't talk as if we live in the future. Spearing and Adam are ones that will go to make way.

Spearing and Adam will leave.

23 Aug 2012 22:09:38
Evening eds thought the game was pretty average at best,some positives from the game were obviously raheem.I also thought the tempo of the game changed a lot when Allen came on.Really think this boy could be a massive player for us dare I say in the alonso mould,uses the ball quickly and intelligently and always available.Borini worked hard but isolated too often had a couple of chances but couldn't find the back of the net.I trust this will change given a little more help up top from the likes of Suarez .Does anybody know what was wrong with Carroll or is the writing on the wall hope not would like him to stay and get a few opportunities,but I guess his time with us is nearing the end.Just hope if he goes we can bring some top quality in.

Carroll had a slight hamstring strain

23 Aug 2012 22:07:19
Good result tonight, some really nice passing and controlled play at times too; can't believe how negative some people can still be! It certainly wasn't perfect, but overall i thought it was a solid performance from the boys.

Walt White.

23 Aug 2012 22:05:36
I really like the look of Joe Allen - I think he could become a real class act for us. He reminds me of a young Paul Scholes.

FT

If he does prove himself at liverpool he will be a barca of madrid player in 2/3 years

Allen knows how to tackle though.

23 Aug 2012 21:36:25
Borinis touch is soooooooo bad!
Surely rodgers knows that his system needs players with a quality touch....

Another expensive flop?

23 Aug 2012 21:35:53
Ive been a liverpool supporter for 35 years and its clear to see we are 11 players short of being a tidy team. Two games into the new season and its obvious to any one that these players cant play football. Disgrace full

We're actually 4 games into the season and we've won 3 and lost 1 and i would have thought someone who's supported a team for 35 years would be a little more reluctant to start calling his team "a disgrace" after 1 defeat under a brand new manager

Disgraceful post.

So you just said it yourself , 2 games in and the jury's out like a rash?! No wonder our players sometimes look like deer in the headlights with the pressure they get from your type

NextGenRed

Thanx be to god ur not livepool manager ur away with the fairies 11 players short id say 2 short of a very good side if sahin signs thats one and a striker wud be next wed be deff challenging for CL football

If you're going to post such utter rubbish at least be brave enough to put your name. I think we all feel a degree of frustration at times, but a new style is being put in place which will take time as well as certain types of player. I believe we are maybe 2 years from putting together a serious push for a top 4 spot. Let's just keep in perspective where we were just 2 years ago and consider where we could be now if the club hadn't been sold. It ain't all that bad. The time now is to be patient and have a little faith.

Awful performance by Shelvey i have lost count of the amount of times he has given the ball away, really disappointed as i have always been a huge fan of his, hoped he would make the most of the opportunity. Adam and Spearing weren't much better. Sterling and Henderson take a bow, by far the 2 best Liverpool players on the pitch.

ChrisE

Great post read my mind...

Actually agree with you I think and would add Allen to that list. He was fantastic and we looked far more composed second half.

I would rather let a player have a couple of bad games in this competition in order to give them experience than let Adam through the car park to get his boots on!!
Awful.....

I'll reserve judgement until Christmas but first impressions of Rodgers are not good.

1. Team selections so far, baffling. Spearing and Carragher - what more do I need to say?
2. Treatment of Carroll, appalling. Early days for Borini but he doesn't look fit to lace Carroll's boots.
3. Already overawed by the presence of Carragher and Gerrard, who still look to have too much influence.
4. One dimensional and obsessive about the only style of football he seems to know.
5. Where is Suso? At least an explanation would be nice. If we're not careful we are going to lose one of the few class players we've ever brought into the Academy.
6. Always seems to be linked with players he has worked with at previous clubs. Excuse me, where did Swansea finish last season? Below us I think and we were awful. Maybe not a good idea then to be looking at all their players. Needs to aim his sights higher.

If Carroll doesn't go in this window, I predict he'll be here longer than Rodgers.

redmersey

I know the weather is bad, Christmas doesn't fall in August :)

I agree Andy Carroll has been treated apallingly by LFC and FSG, he was forced out at Newcastle, did not set the transfer fee and he was and as I understand still is prepared to fight for his place at Liverpool, Give the lad a break he is young and more than capable of adapting, a good manager/coach should be able to alter his style of play enough to play for Liverpool, if they can't they shouldn't be in the positions they are in. Don't forget KK/Comoli bought him but it must have been agreed by FSG

Bobbinred

Ha is this post a joke lol

He's fighting for his place and I respect that, but he's just not that good. Look, I like the kid and hoped he would do well for us, but it's not going to happen.

His ball handling is not very good, his pace too slow, and his positioning is pretty much all wrong for a guy playing as a striker. Not to mention I don't know that I've seen a very young footballer in worse shape physically- he needs to hit the gym some, work on his sprinting and close ball control and then perhaps he could be a threat, but he's been here quite some time now and hasn't improved at all in any of those areas and has maybe even gone backwards a tad. Andy Carroll's biggest problem is not the owners or manager- it's himself and his desire (or lack thereof) to be a superstar.

Guardian now reporting that Sahin is having a medical at Liverpool tomorrow? Haha, I'll believe it when I see it. What do you make of this Eds?

Dan {Ed001's Note - always possible, it is a personal choice he is making, no one can know which he will see as best for him.}

23 Aug 2012 22:00:58
My take on tonight's game.
(1) Reina looked comfortable with the ball, a lot more than last season and confidence seems to be back.
(2) Kelly and Agger brill as usual
(3) Robinson did really well tonight and will provide good cover/competition for Enrique. Puzzled to why he came off
(4) Downing looked a lot better left back. Maybe new position!
(5) Adam should be no where near our starting 11. Too slow, lazy, tempremental etc.
(6) Spearing for me will be a good squad player as cover and nothing more. Great attitude and passion but lacks quality at times.
(7) Henderson was quiet but kept the ball well
(8) Allen looked composed and controlled the game as soon as he came on. Impressed with him yet again.
(9) Shelvey - may get stick for this but I dont rate the lad at all. I would send him on loan with the ope he improves but being realistic he should be at a club like Sunderland or Aston Villa.
(10) Carragher - The man's a legend and has been a great player over the years but I cannot see why Coates did not start that game. Coates needs time to play and should be 3rd choice Centre Back. Carragher needs to be a player/coach and play only when needed.
(11) Borini worked hard but needs more support from midfield. Did not get that from the likes of Adam etc.
(12) Lastly, Raheem Sterling! I understand he's young but surely tonight has proved why he should be played ahead of Downing. He has done more in these past couple of games than Downing did the whole of last year! For 17 years old the lad looked class.

Sloppy game but a win is a win. Hopefully with the first team players back and 2 more quality additions we can improve on our finish last year. Come on you Reds!

Chris in Crewe

Thank goodness your not our manager!.

I actually agree with your assessment entirely.

Per your Borini comment- I can't understand why it is that we always have like 1 maybe 2 people in the box when attacking. Other teams seem to have no problems throwing 4-5 people in there to mix it up, but for whatever reason the last few seasons we're lucky to get a single person in there. For me, as soon as Raheem gets the ball on the wing, as an example, players should be flooding forward waiting for a cross/shot in. Maybe he loses the ball and you have to run back- big deal, you're paid quite a lot to run.

Completely agree with this , read my mind

And what have I said that is so wrong?
Plus leave a name!
Chris

Carra's past it now. Should sell him to City as they ned a CB. Should put Gerrard on the transfer list as well to give him a kick up the arse. Bolini looked great tonight, was unlucky. Stirling looks way of the pace also. Another poor season beckons.

Well all you can say is lucky LFC. That was shocking, only Danny, Hendo, Sterling & possibly Jonjo can hold their heads up. Very static, even laborious at times. We need an injection of pace. Shame AC was carrying a slight injury, would like to have seen how the Hearts defenders would have coped.

Jonjo was awfull you no nothing! An I like jonjo... Watch the game again and count how many times he gave the ball away,I thought he was on theirs.

Not a rumour or anything along those lines... BUT...

I noticed it a while back and now every time I see him in an interview it is really obvious and quite amusing!

Perhaps we need a "Like I say" count!

well allen looked good. reina did well. robinson and sterling were great. agger did his job. kelly did ok. everyone else had a poor game.

we need to start playing as a team helping each other out and LEARN! how to control the ball!

23 Aug 2012 21:58:01
Chaps, tonight was good enough IMO. Was never going to be easy away against a Scottish side hell bent on wanting to put one over the auld enemy! I thought they showed plenty of passion and gave our boys a good run out. Positives definitely there - a clean sheet, sterling was threatening and will be pushing for a place this year, joe Allen seemed to bring a bit of calm and had good influence when he came on ( the lad is going to be a super star for us in the future), there were spells when we kept the ball moving really well (ok, and times when we lost it too mr shelvey....), i thought hendo was not too shabby and don't forget, this was with a real mix of first team and fringe players. The main ingredient missing at the moment is clinical finishing (i am hoping borini will come good as i thought he showed some good movement, just give it a little time!) The foundations are slowly starting to be laid so let's be positive and get behind the boys.

I suppose the should have gone to specsaver crew will spout, 'Job done'.
Sterling was the one bright spark amongst some very average players.
I wonder what a neutral would have thought. Perhaps they would have to wake him up?
Sterling was so much better than the rest.

It looked like a mid-table Championship league match, on a wet evening in February.

I dont think we even got out of 2nd gear tonight . It's obvious hearts were going to run there socks off and put us under pressure . Think shelvy gave the ball away to many times although I do think he will be a quality player for us . Raheem sterling was class first half he needs more 1st team chances . Good to see Morgan get on . Think Allen is going to be a great player . Give the lads a chance and not knock them it's the start of a new era so let's get behind them all . Lets show our Scottish neighbours how we support Liverpool next week . You'll never walk alone .

Just to add to what a lot of others have said WHAT THE HELL IS CHADAM DOING?!? Shelvey passes to him, he ignores it, he loses the ball, he gives up, he goes for stupid shots instead of passing, ARGGHHHHQOEUAMXLZFF!

Ok, that's enough now :-)

23 Aug 2012 21:42:47
Does agger playing tonight mean he is cup tied now in Europe, and therefore not likely to go to another team

Seriously guys, cup tied does not mean a player cannot move away from the team. its just a negative factor.

liverpool is like a bus and at the min we are carrying to many passengers!!

23 Aug 2012 21:42:32
After a performance like that against a relatively easy side, i think we will struggle to ever get that spark without players like gerrard and suarez. Not a satisfying performance what so ever but it was a win. Sterling was our best player by a mile. Shelvey for all the support hes been getting on here looked terrible (has a long way to go to even be in the same breath as gerrard). Adam was more of the same 'play it at my own slow pace' football, long balls he tried to play never worked and i think he should really move on. For him to say whats the point after a season is ridiculous, if your not good enough and are content on sitting on the bench all the time what does that say about the type of player you are. Small time player.

As for spearing you can clearly see he works really hard and tries his best but this isnt a sunday league where you can roll on roll off subs, he is not good enough for liverpool and should continue hi career elsewhere. Henderson was identical to what he was last season...non existent. This truely was the B team with the exception of reina and agger.

P.S borini looks like another one that feeds of off confidence, which i a bad thing. average player from what ive seen so far.

Sadly true but brainwashed cant see the steady decline.Said 8th or 9th last year and got slaughtered. And did for being critical at times in season.It brings no pleasure to me but its true

can someone pls tell me how spearing has managed to stay at liverpool for so long as he is completely useless and offers nothing to the team only to make up the numbers , it really baffles me !!!

Adam was worse!

Don't blame it all on the players, half of them don't even know if they will be still playing for Liverpool in a weeks time, the sooner the transfer window shuts the better, perhaps then we can start to build confidence

23 Aug 2012 21:39:58
Well we look as toothless as last season. We have to play an attacking MF at left back. Sterling looked really good and should play Saturday but we all know we won't see him again for ages as the dross will get in ahead of him. FSG have done absolutely nothing for our club yet many see them as our saviours?? We could be owned by the chuckle brothers and they would have done no worse, still wondering what they have actually achieved since they came?

Got us out of the red mate, and allowed managers to spend. Not keeping the money from player sales, and not tolerating a poor season last year. They have done quiet alot.

He wants to win a trophy.

23 Aug 2012 21:34:27
I don't see the need for most of this negativity. The team was relatively inexperienced and its true some things didn't work but its the result that matters.
It could easily have been 3-0, what with the couple of borderline offside decisions which would have seen Borini clean through and his effort which hit the post.

Good to see Sterling looking dangerous also.

Keep the heads up.

23 Aug 2012 21:33:41
Fist post here and perhaps controversial:
It is apparent we have a void in terms of a striker who shall deliver 20+ goals this season. With this in mind, and bearing in mind FSG's decision to appoint BR and the style he wishes to implement, funds must either be made available for a world class CF or BR needs to sacrifice his style of play for one that shall accommodate AC.
AC is currently Liverpool's best striker in terms of potential goal return as long as the team is built around him IMHO.
Whereas I would far prefer to see a fluid playing style as per BR's vision the cold facts are goals win games not possession, let's hope the finance is made available either by selling AC or by the boards realisation that this move is imperative to any success and coming up with the required £'s
YNWA

Building a team around Andy Carroll would be a huge mistake. First, we've tried it already once and it didn't so much work out. Second, if it doesn't work the 2nd time either (which it wouldn't), what do you do? Go buy Crouch instead?

Agree, with all the posession we had last season it didn't bring us goals

Bobbinred

Appreciate your reply and thoughts. Building the team around AC isn't my preference and TBF I don't believe we did build a team around AC, rather we chose to play long balls forward for him to flick on.. Instead of getting behind the opposing full backs and giving him balls to attack. The guy had poor, poor service and was much maligned because of this.
I hope we buy a CF who suits the improvements BR shall make but on paper AC is probably the most dangerous CF in the squad. Put it this way, no one would have chose FB over AC whilst he was at Newcastle.
I'm just saying you use what you have at your disposal to obtain the desired results not that AC is the answer.
I'm sure a new CF shall be forthcoming.

Why would shelvey go when he signed new contract couple weeks back?

23 Aug 2012 21:30:53
We're all sat here moaning but hit the post and Borini has been called offside twice when he would have been through both decisions were wrong. Let's just see where the next few months take us!

Lineman is having a mare

23 Aug 2012 21:27:14
I know this game isn't the best indicator against a Scottish team without many of our top players but Im basing this on Saturdays game too. Anyone else think that Suarez should be played wide rather than centrally? Just seems like there are so many instances when one of our wide forwards gets the ball with only a fullback to beat to get into loads of space. Suarez is a guy who can beat fullbacks in these cases.

Also I think our biggest issue is that we don't know how to turn possession into attack. We pass the ball around our own half of the pitch but then when we want to attack we are still just too often going with long passes up the field, rather than the slow build up we need. Some of the guys just don't seem to have any clue how to play in this style, either that or they've played in other styles so long that they just can't shake the habits. Guys like Adam Shelvey and Carragher just seem awful. A couple other guys seem to have a grasp on the system but just aren't executing, Borini seems to fit this mold. Sterling looks good but he still shouldn't be a starter yet. He should have a role on the team, but right now he is best suited to perhaps be a sub who brings energy into the game. Imagine him coming on in the 70th minute with all his energy against a tired full back?

I agree...Suarez is excellent when he's played out wide as a wing forward; either on the left or right...he needs space and when he doesn't have the ball he ghosts in and he's dangerous in the box

23 Aug 2012 21:26:27
Since allen came on liverpool have kept the ball a lot better and the tempo has went up. Also stirling needs offered new contract

Absolutely spot on mate, Allen gave Liverpool far more confidence on the ball. His passing was superb - notice how the ball never stops moving when he's got it under control ? Shelvey was poor tonight, getting too cocky in his play.

Allen is a gem shows a lot of maturity & intelligence for a player so young & he is only going to get better.....my dream yet realistic midfield 3 is Lucas joe Allen & James McCarthy technique allied with appetite....good result great site y.n.w.a. Paisley's genius

23 Aug 2012 21:17:14
this style of play doesnt work, defender to goaly defender to goaly

It changed when Allen came on.

I'm sure Hearts didn't tire because they didn't have the ball, they must have been unfit. Seriously you are symptomatic of why much of the British game is still in the dark ages of long ball hopeful football. When you have possession more, you work less hard, the other team can't score and you learn composure in tight areas. Plus you can't be brilliant at it over night and Rogers has been there 5 minutes. That's also why we are not as effective in the final third yet and more of our passing is in our own half but that will come in time. And you say the style of play doesn't work well try Barca now or teams from history like Ajax, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and us, teams with success that resulted in years of domination. Just for the record Germany play this way and almost always get to the latter stages of competitions even sometimes with mediocre players. I can see what Rodgers is trying to do and I pray he gets the chance rather than being criticized by some two bit armchair pundits whose knowledge of football could fill a teaspoon.

New tactic bore the opposition to death

I don't think Carra touched the ball that many times all of last season

On a serious the problem was spearing went missing he needed to fill in and collect the ball from agger / Carra / reina look at the difference when Allen came on in that position

Leam Red
Adam / Downing need to go
Shelvey and Henderson are 2 years away from regular 1st team football
Downing needs to learn from sterling

I live in Madrid and know a Journalist that gets some good information. Anyway, I was talking to him today and the following is the rumour doing the rounds

Mourinho really likes Nuri Sahin as a player. However, Sahin has had a major injury Plagued first season at Madrid. Now Madrid do not have a reserve side and Sahin needs games to get back to match fitness. Madrid are willing to loan him out for a season to protect their investment. they do not want to sell this season as his worth is poor.

Mourinho's first name on any team sheet is Xabi Alonso. He likes Alonso because he has not only a fine Spanish passing game but he learnt to deal with the English physicality as well. he believes that Sahin needs to learn the traits of the English game to make him more effective.

Now Arsenal want a purchase agreement within the loan. Madrid do not as Mourinho sees Sahin as the long term replacement for Xabi.

Now the rumour is that Mourinho has asked Rodgers to get Sahin back into shape and playing again. he also knows Liverpool are in transition at the moment and Sahin will help with that transition because he will play a possession based game. What Mourinho has promised is that he will not stand in the way of Liverpool resigning Alonso at the end of next season. (Xabi contract expires in 2014).

Xabi wants to return to Liverpool at some point but he also wants to go to Real Sociedad. San Sebastian is his home town.

For Mourinho, he is getting. Player he greatly admires match fit and with extra traits, that should slot nicely into Alonso's position.

Modric is being seen more as a replacement for Ozil, who Mourinho likes but does not work hard enough.

Don't shoot the messenger

Orrin

Funny how you all blame Dalglish!. Adam was probably our best player tonight and he was a Dalglish buy.
Problems rose long before Dalglish son

Daglish made the situation 10x worse than it was. Hogdson was an instant mistake but when you consider how much money we spent on mediocre players then yes comolli and daglish are to blame for a lot of the problems that have arose lately. If rafa had that sort of money Liverpool would have won the league no doubt. It's a shame hicks and Gillette (the worst owners in our clubs history) were there when rafa was manager...a real shame. Brendan has a long road ahead and I'm behind him. {Ed001's Note - Moores was a far worse owner than H&G! They improved us, that is the sad thing, and they were worse than useless!}

Just wanted to throw my 2 pence in on the carra situation, while I feel he should respectfully hang up the boots now some of the abuse he gets on this site is disgraceful. He has poured his life and soul into liverpool fc and if you're in doubt of carra's commitment look no further to Istanbul 05.

Let's have some respect for our players lads, this club was built on the morals of it and embodied by Shankly, Paisley etc.

I will say it out loud. I have had this thought for the last 1 year or so. Liverpool will only become great again under a manager who has the guts to stand unto Carragher and Gerrard. Carragher is now past his time, and we should use him in the big games for his experience as I believe he may have lost his speed, but his ability to read the game and position himself accordingly is still the best.

Gerrard will cause disruptions in the fluid system of football KK introduced. He is a great player and needs to play as midfielder in 4-2-3-1 system with Luis suarez ahead of him as AM and AC as lone no.9 with downing and borini on the wings.

mgz

That's why your not a premier league manager

Borini and downing are simply not good enough we need a top striker gerrard and suarez next to him in a front three with three dominating midfielders with ball passing skill lucas allen and one more to sign sahin would do nicely reina johnson skrtel agger enrique allen lucas sahin gerrard suarez and in my eyes who is available affordable and scores goals diego milito

23 Aug 2012 20:03:24
spearing will show today, what type of level he should be playing at. already hes started poorly.

23 Aug 2012 20:02:13
If carragher plays on Sunday we could be in trouble

Borini keeps doing what he did at the weekend - giving the ball away and having a terrible touch. Looks like another fairly expensive flop in the making. He's in good company. I dread this season. We are aweful, lets face it. I know there are those who will be like "you shouldn't be so negative" or "not a real supporter you should back the team", but lets start calling a spade a spade..! We are terrible this season, although the rot set in a while back so not necessarily BR's fault.
I pity the few top class players that we do have, having to take to the field with such dross!

Fair enough a spades a spade but surely to say we're awful this season two games after 3 and a half games is also a bit much? Wouldnt be so bad if you come up with your point of view in January!

Mike S

We cannot adapt to BR's game in a matter of a month. Get a grip.

Borini doesn't have the greatest touch but once we get used to the passing game, when we have the ball, his movement is soon of the best I'e seen and he will get in behind defenders and create so much space for other players

AZ

Excellent post..cant watch the game...seriously..
as fans...what are we suppose to do..
and i cant imagine some still backing this whole stuppidity

You sir are a putz and you sound like a united fan !

Its official - WE ARE A VERY AVERAGE TEAM, with very limited players!

You talk rubbish, know nothing about football, he has worked really well and could have had three with a little luck

Are you watching the correct game I fear not get a grip.

Yeah let's write off a 21 yearold in a new team after 1 and half games. You'll probably start calling for Morgan, suso and sterling to be included next, so you can castrate them if they don't put a5 star display in after a game or 2.
CQ

He's worked hard closing the opposition down, give the lad a break will ya

You shouldn't be so negative if you're like this you're not a real supporter, back the team from now on

Your absolutely right, i mean how long does a new manager who inherited an average squad need to turn them into a world beating team?? its nearly the end of August for God's sake!! He should have been sacked when he lost his first game!!
RedRich

Totally agree with the borini part, from what ive seen so far anyway.

I think that Borini was not the only player tonight who didn't play well.

we seemed to have one midfielder tonight, Spearing until he was subbed then Allen.

Shelvey kept giving the ball away or played passes too short, Adam decided he was going to play for 15 minutes, but over the course of the 90, I am not too sure but Henderson hardly touched the ball and when he was 'trying' to be a winger hit the ball too far ahead of himself.

Carragher again proved he is getting too old and on a few occasions looked uncertain about who to pass to.

anyway enough negativity good points are

Stirling was looking good, slacked a bit during 2nd half but as the half drew to a close got better, with more first team football may look for the killer pass rather than shooting.

Kelly had a good game again, looked more solid has the game continued.

Agger again proved he can pass the football so we should keep him.

His second competitive game and you slate him already. His movement is excellent and his touch and finish will come. He was falsely flagged offside a couple of times when clean through.

Sometimes people need to slow down and be bloody patient.

Papa G

''but lets start calling a spade a spade..!''

OK, Fans like you are rediculous, we were missing 6/7 of our best players, and we still won away from home in a pretty hostile ground, but you still want to moan and complain, fans like you just look for any reason to bitch! BR has said many, many times it will take time to get Liverpool great again and you give him four games and a handful of freindlies? Rediculous!

MR EM

'We are terrible this season' .... A comment that comes after 4 competitive matches, judge us in May not now

Hans

Hop off the wagon then. We'll see about letting you back on it once Buck gets the team he wants together and playing his system without having to thnk about every pass and little movement.

Ha putz - love that saying. Blazing Saddles?

Reminds me of kuyt yet we let him go for 1m and bought borini for 11m thats 10m wasted which could have been spent on something needed more and even more so when we have sterling coming through

Ridiculous post.

Borini did quite well thank you. Amazing how Suarez can miss a whole slew of sitters and he's the amazing fantistico Suarez, but a young 21 year old kid in his third game hits the post after getting in a good position and gets a bunch of crap for it. His movement was excellent, couple of shady offside calls and he would have been through easily. His work rate is immense and if he hadn't been in the box applying pressure, the OG would never have happened.

Supporting him would do wonders, but instead we'll give him so much grief he'll just hate life here and do nothing for us.

Ther are some CLOWNS who frequent this page and moan and moan and moan. Why do they think anyone gives a monkeys about their opinion? They clearly aren't Liverpool fans, so why even come on here? They represent everything that's wrong in the game today and I for one am really sick of their pointless babbling.

Just a thought... and probably one that wouldnt be very popular amongst many fans. Not that it'll happen, but what would people think of a shock return of Michael Owen? He proved at Utd that when he played he could score... something we have really struggled with the last 18 months. I think he could still do a job as a bit part player, and he wouldnt cost a penny

If u wana bring owen..y dot u bring torres..a cheeky 20 mill will get him...

His wage demands are ridiculous so don't say wouldn't cost a penny he'd be another joe cole.

Hakunamatada

We would never accept a player back who played for them. Ceased to be a Liverpool player the day he put on that shirt.

It might not cost the club a penny but it will cost me £500 for a new laptop after ive thrown it out of the window!

Hi Michael, you back again? Hows the horses ?

tel 1949

I think suarez would of scored that chance personally. I just think he tried to hard. I still think front three should be Borini through Center Suarez out wide (like he was for Ajax) and sterling or similar type of player that can skin a player every time on other.

Hi Ed002. Just a follow-up on a couple of questions posted by others today. Your response to THE SUMON VAI seemed to indicate that, regardless of the individual player concerned, Liverpool would currently have to sell (e.g. Carroll) in order to raise the funds to buy any given player (THE SUMON VAI mentioned Sturridge, Lyon King mentioned Leandro Damiao). Is that your understanding of where we are at the moment? Your thoughts appreciated as always.

Steve {Ed002's Note - I did not say regardless and gave an example where it would not be necessary.}

Great ball from Henderson and unselfish pass by Raheem. Hope Borini puts his shooting boots for second half. Hearts starting to tire. Come on you Reds.

Interesting comments from Guillem Balague and his twitter feed.

Quote 1, "We do know now why Sahin hasnt accepted yet the loan deal to Arsenal. His agent met yesterday Anfield owners. He wants all info on table."

Quote 2, "Sahin choice should be made pretty soon. AFC and LFC agreed all with Madrid. Now up to player. At LFC they think he can still be convinced."

So still alive from a Liverpool perspective, so fingers crossed because the Revista man is almost normally dead on.

Carrolls definitely off folks.

I wish the boy luck. Shame the Geordies have gained 18 million for what's been an 18 month loan. 17 million will be paid.

Newcastle will only go to 13 million

Not a chance of Toon spending £17m lol.

wow

chelsea are really going for it this year...moses is a great buy for 9 million and especially at his age!

yet again another possible opportunity that liverpool have missed cos i tell you what.........
hes better than any wide player we have!!!!!

i support liverpool............and even i know we are miles behind 4th place quality.........

i believe everton and swansea will finish above liverpool
the squad is weak...........and i think the owners are taking the 5 yr plan approach
so hold on to your hats people..........its gonna be a dry few seasons!

Sterling has been more effective in 45 mins than downing was all last season! Surely give him ago on Sunday?

Mike S

Not diagreeing with you but the kid is only 17. We will have years of him. Not worth getting him smashed by a prem defender with lack of pace ,just for a 1point game at best .cheers psv

Get a grip. It only took rooney one game to make himself one of the best paid players in football modern history. He played well. Just give him credit and don't look for faults or things that don't go in his favour. If Utd didnt gamble on £25 mil plus for a young lad then they wouldn't be half the team without him. It's about time we got behind him and helped him and gave him confidence to get ball down and play football like we know he can.

Jordan

23 Aug 2012 20:40:18
To be honest i dont think we will buy or need another winger, Sterling all the way, he is good enough to start now in my opinion, save the millions, unless we can move on Downing and replace him we have the wings covered. Looking forward to seeing Assaidi play.

Ratty888

Sterling was looking great tonight; but I don't think that he is ready to be a regular starter this season. He's still only 17 years old and if we work him too hard, he could be at risk of receiving a serious injury; which would be detrimental to his development.

Rooney? Messi? Neymar? all put in at young age? and yet some of the best players in the world. Let's not be narrow minded end of the day this is what our scouting system and academy is all about.

If he is good enough thats it. He should play. Everyone treated evenly. Are you seriously saying someone who doesn't play aswell should start because he is older?!

Jordan

23 Aug 2012 20:37:45
I think at least in the short term BR could do with revising this philosophy as our players look confused and panicked when on the ball.
Also we need an out and out striker! I hope Borini will fit the role but he looks too weak to face teams playing with a quick defence!
Early signs very poor but we all knew this was not a quick fix. We need the Joe Coles and Stuart Downings out and some young hungry arrivals.
I trust BR will be the solution to the problems we have but we need to be prepared for a very difficult few months.

P.s sad to see Caeragger playing when we should be bringing Coates and Wilson in. Too slow for the Championship now let alone our squad!

23 Aug 2012 20:37:26
When is our luck going to change? How did Borini miss that? If that was any other striker from any other team he would have scored. In saying that we look terrible yet again, these players clearly don't know what they're doing. I started off full optimism at the start of this season and one and a half games in I feel drained of it, lets be realistic guys, I'll always watch Liverpool and always support them but we're finished as a top four club unless we get some investment. Like it or not City will destroy us on Sunday and for the first time I'm not looking forward to a big game like this. By the way what are the Hearts players on? I think they've got last seasons hammering by Spurs in their minds.

23 Aug 2012 20:35:47
Get ADAM MORGAN ON!!

Jordan

Felt so sorry for him, Borini should have went off ages before he did. Morgan deserves more of a chance.

23 Aug 2012 20:35:40
Sterling done more in 45 minutes than Downing has done since we bought him. Henderson playing well and Borini looking like he could be a good buy, unlucky with his chance but he always seems to be in right position.

23 Aug 2012 20:35:27
Most dangerous player at half time : Raheem Sterling!!

If we had suarez aswell as him and gerrard. I think this would be a dead and buried game.

Jordan

Why. Neither of them can score either

Think your forgeting especially what gerrad has done for our club. Narrow minded fan. Get a grip. He had one bad game at weekend! but he has carried our team for years. Wether you like it or not suarez and gerrard are world class players. And the likes of sterling can only benefit from playing with players like that. Does Casillas score every game? Does Xabi Alonso score every game? Your answer is no. But are they world class players? Yes and you would have them in a heart beat. Respect a player for there job. Gerrard and suarez are not out and out 30 goal a season scorers. Suarez played out wide for Ajax. That's where he played extremely well. Hence he will fit the four three three formation.

Jordan.

P.S - Utd loss to everton so I guess Van Persie Rooney, Nani and every other utd player cant score?! {Ed001's Note - Gerrard has been carried by the other players for the last two years now! One bad game? He has had almost nothing but bad games for years, how long till you take off those red tinted specs and realise he should have been replaced 2 years ago?}

23 Aug 2012 20:34:33
Jay spearing is not good enough for hearts what the he'll is he doing in a Liverpool shirt??? Hes awful the sooner he goes the better!!!

I have read a few posts where certain players are getting criticised and I don't necessarily disagree BUT is Shelvey rendered invisible when he pulls on a Liverpool shirt? He regularly gives the ball away or makes a rash challenge and it rarely invokes the same kind of response on here. All players need to be measured by the same yardstick

Puzzled

23 Aug 2012 20:33:26
We need an attacking midfielder/playmaker - very static centrally behind borini, no movement Into that space. No option, too wide.. Come on lads we can do this! Unlucky borini! The woodwork bad luck for us again uh oh!

M

Someone likeoscar would be great , shelvey was awful tonight

23 Aug 2012 20:33:16
I don't care whether he is 17, 27, or 57 that Sterling should be in this team ahead of Downing. The GT

23 Aug 2012 20:33:08
Why carragher and not Coates? Adam looks worse than joe cole. Slow and clumsy! But Henderson looks ok. Think he would be better in the middle with shelvey. Stealing looks fast and hungry. Should defo be on the bench at the weekend!

23 Aug 2012 20:33:07
i see we are running the post hitting champion competition again this year

23 Aug 2012 20:32:15
Match tonight is a great advert of why Spearing, Adam and Henderson can only ever be 'squad' players at best......better still if sold during this 'window!'
2009 Captain

23 Aug 2012 20:31:54
Thats why we need a clinical finisher. Borini for me looks very average against easy opposition. missed a sitter, at least we know suarez would have scored that :S

23 Aug 2012 20:30:06
As Liverpool are strongly backing the new ffp regulations I think this maybe deterring fsg from investing heavily during this window as they would be hipocrits and would undermine their own case. Remember with the exception of maybe arsenal we have the highest support vs debt of all premier league clubs.

They cant do anything if you bring in before ruling

23 Aug 2012 20:30:06
I cant believe why sterling,henderson or shelvy can be playing, when we have got a player like suso who is better than the 3 together,dosent even make it in the squad. Is brendan rodgers blind or what!! AMAZING!!

What a stupid post. Shut up.

I agree with the fact that suso should have been involved today maybe even started. But sterling played very very good today so he should not be on that list. Shlevey looks very inconsistent. Henderson non existent.

I hope you meant spearing and not sterling

Jamesy

23 Aug 2012 20:29:31
2 mins left in the first half and I am nodding off, this is garbage, carragher, error prone as usual,Adam and spearing, taxi Please, and Borini doesn't look like a striker who will score many goals, basically ,a shambles.
Jonny71

Carragher cant play a passing style never good great out and out defender for years though. Sadly time up

23 Aug 2012 20:29:19
Get Adam and Spearing off and move Henderson inside put Downing wide right and put Morgan on with Borini.
Easy this management lark!

23 Aug 2012 20:29:10
why do we bother with corner kicks, we are useless at them

Adam great at them then he signed for us {Ed001's Note - we just don't work corners well at the moment, still we are even worse at defending them! I hate seeing everyone back and yet still the posts are open.}

23 Aug 2012 20:28:57
You get the feeling that Borini is a 'fox in the box' type of player. Trouble is we don't seem to get the ball into the box enough despite the current 65% possession at the moment. Doing well after a rough start though. Henderson working very hard.

-Shane.

23 Aug 2012 20:27:19
Ha if I was Carroll I'd hang on as he may end up being here longer than Rodgers...

Dav001

23 Aug 2012 20:27:16
Charlie Adam and jay Spearing IMO need to go asap - pay em off if needed

Carra needs to retire (he has been great but he now needs to finish).

Shelvey and Henderson need to buck up their ideas if they wanna stay (although Henderson shouldnt be out wide) but still!

Our owners need serious investment, that last owners and (im sad to say) kennys spending have put us in a horrible situation, Im sure FSG will back us but FFS we are needing an overhaul

BR has his work out, i trust he will deliver but boy he has a job on his hands

Cant imagine..us without lucas in the midfiled...its horrible...shelvey have energy..but loosing ball far too often..

23 Aug 2012 20:27:05
the linesman just made one of the worst decisions ive ever seen, flagged offside when it clearly got played on by a hearts players. Specsavers should make an advert where the linesman gets an easy decision terribly wrong and in his mind his conscious tells him 'You should have gone to specsavers...tut tut tut

Or the crowd should sing it instead

23 Aug 2012 20:26:57
Ed havin watched the first half all be it barring a few mins I can honestly say I'm not looking forward to Sunday as it is clear to see we are nowhere near good enough to compete. JC, CA, JS are total rubbish .

On a good note it's good to see sterling tonight he is the only bright spark I think

23 Aug 2012 20:26:49
Big plus for Henderson. Really think he looks a lot more comfey then last season. Shelvey not good tonight, so far anyhow. Sterling terrifying that Aussie right back.

Liverpool are like a championship side again they are boring to watch they just pass it to keeper all time and wen they go foward with ball they loose it straight away think im going to watch eastenders repeat more excitin lol

Rodgers could be given five years trying to implement his style, problem is, if the players can't pass (especially one touch) they can't bloody pass!

23 Aug 2012 20:23:07

Twenty minutes gone and LFC look capable of losing 3-0. Terrible passing, no shape, no teeth in the attack. We can barely get the ball out of our own half.

Hopefully we can dig in and start controlling the run of play and get one or two goals before the night is up.

I'm optimistic about Sterling though.

AmRed

Our midfield is an absolute disgrace, I've never seen a more clueless bunch in my life. Spearing doesn't know what he's doing , nor does Kelly and Cara just can't pass the ball to save his life. It's going to be a very long hard season.

loans! Loans! We don't Loan! We are not a club who loans mr Rodgers. Buy players who would die for the badge

Sahin is a mercenary aresnal welcome

Gazman

Why not loan a player if they are better than those we already have?

Spurs are loaning players and getting in the top 4 players they wouldnt have got such as adebayor we need some good quality sahin fits the bill if we get him on loan and buy a good striker i will be very happy.Tommy irish Red

Mate i agree, i dont want him either,you can have him
trev the gooner

Anelka was brought to Liverpool on loan

Seriously? most quality players on loan are from CL sides who have added to their squads pushing players out....these types of players are better than what we can afford to buy a player with outright.... If their quality and wages are reasonable then why not? people are forgetting we are a mid table side now and big names will only come if it is infact a loan deal!
JOZLFC

This thought process is so wrong. Liverpool is a special club, but we haven't been Champions in over 20 yeas. Top young players can't even remember us being English Champs. The Liverpool mystique to them is a thing of the past, antiquated. If we only go for players that have a twinkle in their eyes for Liverpool we will have a very poor team indeed. Here is the fact of the matter, for the past 3 years we have finished 7th, 6th and 8th. This isn't a one year blip, thats what we are now. Thats our talent level. We can't attract the very top players because we can't offer Champs League football and we can't get Champs League football cause we can't attract top players. Well Sahin is a very good player, who could help bump us up. This attitude of "we only want guys to bleed for the badge", where has that gotten us? No titles in 20+ years and finished of 7th, 6th and 8th. Maybe its time we got our hands dirty, realized we aren't so damn special and just try to improve the team any way we can. Loans being one of them.

Impressed..but not now these days..
have a look at the game now..
i think we need 5-6 new players....

Couldn't disagree more...

Micheal Dawson, ha ha

AC Milan loan players

redphil

Impressive speech mate but still full of rubbish. We won the champions league in 2005 with players who would die for the badge. Am I supposed to give a toss about a player who doesnt know if he wants to come to Liverpool or not? Bollox mate. Standards have been lowered in your mind, not mine

Gazman

This is getting ridiculous now! whos after loaning Rodgers? weve only just got him in. I agree with you Gazman "we are not a club who loans mr Rodgers"

Poor azzman, crying his pretend Liverpool tears. Who do you really support? Come on, tell us all, it'll be good for you and probably help with your therapy.

Cant believe coates and wilson are not getting chance tonight, full respect to carra hes been a legend but these young hungry players need blooding
jaydee ynwa

I agree. but if carragher isn't going to be relied on so much this year, it makes more sense to play him in these games than ones against city

Lfc looking for 0-0 tonight.

23 Aug 2012 19:36:19
Top, Top info....we are getting Dempsey its in the mix right now but getting sorted before next week.... also more good info that we are not getting Adam Johnson or Defoe as they are both sunderland bound............ this is not a rumour or second hand info but as Rafa said .."fact"

23 Aug 2012 19:35:31
What's the latest with Dempsey? Is the complaint Fulham put in against us likely to help or hinder the situation? It is frustrating that we seem to want him and he appears to want to come to us but still we dilly dally. If it's about the price then we must pay up or walk away. Delaying doesn't help and we stand to lose our targets.

23 Aug 2012 19:33:05
So AD did travel to play to scotland but isn even on the bench tonight, He must b on the way out

No Carroll tonight. Injured? I dont think so. Making sure he is sellable to another UEFA cup side?

He could still play for another UEFA team once they reached the group stage {Ed002's Note - Not if Liverpool get through and he has already played.}

He can still play for somebody else in the group stages.

Sooty {Ed002's Note - Not if Liverpool get through and he has already played.}

23 Aug 2012 19:24:07
What do you think about Andre Pierre Gignac. Was once a rising star and might be worth the risk for a small fee. Wages surely can't be that high. What do you think?

23 Aug 2012 19:22:07
Why do people make a crisis out of everything,do you people only follow this page and not really follow the club?

Andy Carroll is injured, he's got a tight hamstring.

Nothing more or nothing left.

WikingRedNor

23 Aug 2012 19:21:37
Look everyone if it's true about fund's getting released and as it could well look like andy going that could give us possibly 13 to 15 for andy an another 7 or 8 from fsg , we could get Dempsey for say 8 that would leave a nice little chunk for a forward who could get us scoring them poacher goal's we badly need to start putting in the back of the net .

Good luck the red men . LB .

Are you joking, If i ran a business like this, I would buy an item for £100 then sell it for £20

Then think what else could I purchase that is compete bit of tute. Then over pay for that. Good luck on that business model.

23 Aug 2012 19:16:17
Would love to see Sterling on the score sheet tonight, I can't wait til the match! Enjoy, fellow reds :-)

Im just happy to see him on the Team sheet

23 Aug 2012 19:16:05
Something for all you doubters the year liverpool won the treble, they lost there first game 3-0. Bill shankley's first game we lost 4-0 look how well that turned out so think before you speak please.

Bill shankly had less than a week with the team he had to pick

Fantastic post..in Brendan we trust!

23 Aug 2012 19:15:37
Hai Ed..great work..

I think we should stop moaning...
BR knows what he is doing...he wont have any excuse if we finish 10th this season...
We should wait till 31st and see whats the team..
He knows were and what need to be added..
there is no point in moaning here and cursing..
Its a very important seaosn...
As we are doing from past 3 special seaosn..lets support our team once more...
Hope we will see some good nights and days this season..

You will never walk alone.

23 Aug 2012 19:15:01
So Agger starts and AC doesn't even make the bench. To me it's clear Agger is now staying (great news) and AC is off (not sure what to think).

This must mean we have a striker to replace him in mind, this has got to be Dempsey.

thoughts please

Carroll has a knock

Andy's injured. Slight hamstring strain I believe

AZ

Carroll is injured not everything is a big conspiracy to trick the fans!

Please stop putting 2 + 2 together and getting 5!

Some people put 2 and 2 together and get 487!

Or he is really going. It's all speculation either way isn't it?

23 Aug 2012 19:13:01
Carragher should hang the boots up,if you love the club jamie,go into coaching please...for the good of the club...

Don't be so disrespectful to a legend

Y coaching?..and what will he do there??

Got to agree to this post, hes had his timei cringe when i see hes been named in the team.

Jeez, the game hasn't even started and you're having a go. Some supporter you are.

Some posters talk about it being disrespectful to mention putting Carragher out pasture but it's what we always used to do, remember Emlyn Hughes, Terry McDermott, Keegan etc all moved on before they went down hill, Carragher is well past his best and should be moved on. If you are thinking differently you are being at best naive and worst foolish.

Want the best for the team,no all sentimental about carragher

23 Aug 2012 19:12:23
Why is coats not starting?! I'm sorry but we need him for the long term he's got so much potential.. So annoying! And I'd rather see Allen then spearing.. But apart from that it's alright. I'm looking forward to seeing borini play

Probably because he's starting on Sunday. Doubt Carra will play 2 games in 4 days these days.

Carragher's going to be playing on Sunday so he needs a game.

So is Allen, so he needs a rest.

Not rocket science!

AZ

23 Aug 2012 19:06:46
Not sure if it means anything but tonights game would have been ideal for Carroll, with him not being on the bench either is it safe to think he will be going?

He's injured stop complaining

23 Aug 2012 19:02:59
Just put the match on, is it me or did it start goin wrong for Rafa when his goatee appeared

That or only offering Carragher a one year contract

Ffs give carrol a chance to prove himself...

He had 18 months to prove himself and he proved he wasn't right for our club, he needs to be at a team where he starts week in week out if he wants to develop into a quality player.

23 Aug 2012 18:55:55

My thoughts exactly! Championship player..at best..sorry!

23 Aug 2012 18:53:29
Why no Carroll?

Officially a dodgy hamstring. Unofficially...well don't we all know ??

Can only presume it means he's on way back to Newcastle, so that he won't be cup tied ? Great shame, tonight would have been ideal to give him a full 90 mins. to prove himself.

23 Aug 2012 18:52:21
Carroll not even in the squad. Not sure what to make of this but reckon he's on his way out.

Gillinho

Carroll is injured. was mentioned in the news today. j.hunt

If Carroll not in squad and not injured they defo want him to go... they clearly want to use this money to get some more players in.

Injured or "injured"?

23 Aug 2012 18:51:14
Y the f is Carra and spearing playing. They would not look out of place in the hearts team.

Carroll injured

Carroll is supposedly injured, I think BR said something about that yesterday, either its true that or Andy is been forced out.

That's it then andy's days are numberd gutted...

I've been told that Agger will leave for city , then Amorbetia of Bilbao will join us for 6 mil and all these will happen within the last 2-3 days of the transfer window.

"Nuri sahin which club do you want to go to"

Hi Ed's,

Not directly involving us however Sky are reporting Tom Ince is being chased by Swansea, did we have any clause in terms of sell on fee if Blackpool sold him as we let him go on a free?

Thanks

23 Aug 2012 18:09:55
Why does every Liverpool transfer have to be such a drawn out painful saga?

Kaddy

Yeah, that Assiadi deal had me yawning it took so long to get done.

I don't think there was any saga for Assaidi mate..

VGRed

Assaidi was not

How can some people be so blind to sarcasm, seriously lads up your game, this is a banter site after all.

For god sakes, he's joking about Assaidi

You guys dont do sarcasm too well do you?

learpholl

Assaidi was a cheap buy, probs on 20k a week now as well, try compare it to the carry on over Siggurdson, Ramirez, Johnson, Dempsey, Sahin. Allen deal was no lark in the park either, Liverpool need to sort themselves out, we look toatally unprofessional

jammy

The saga continues only with the players we are supposed to be linked with

23 Aug 2012 18:00:53
Is it true Arsenal's deal for Sahin as collapsed and his agent is talking to Liverpool

Amos {Ed052's Note - His agent spoke to Liverpool yesterday. I'm not sure where he will be going}

Why do all the other ED's seem unsure where Sahin is going, but ed002 seems quite confident it wont be Liverpool. Do you know something?

Janitor {Ed002's Note - I gave those words to Ed052 this morning actually. He has not got the offer he wants from AC Milan. Offers from Besiktas and Galatasaray were not what the player wanted. Napoli decided not to put an offer on the table. However, I think it is likely that a decision will be made in the next 24 hours between Arsenal and Liverpool. His agent has a preference for a move to Arsenal.}

So the fat agent gets to decide, if the money grabber wants Arsenal so much, maybe he should have made a living playing football instead of living off a footballer

Corey

"Fulham have made a formal complaint to the Premier League over Liverpool's pursuit of Clint Dempsey.

The Cottagers are believed to have taken exception to Reds boss Brendan Rodgers revealing in July that Liverpool had made an enquiry about buying the 29-year-old forward." Are we not allowed to make an enquiry and if we do,must it be a secret ? I think the reality is, we made an enquiry and Fulham priced him out of the market. End of story.

23 Aug 2012 17:58:58
Eds-Can I make a guess at what will actually happen before the deadline, and beyond, regardless of the various rumours circulating?
1-Agger will go To Man City for around 15 million, with Adam Johnson coming to Anfield as part of the deal.
2-Sahin will NOT sign
3-Adam will go to Fulham OR another club, possibly Everton or Sunderland for 5.5 million
4. Dempsey will sign on deadline day for £8.25 million
5-Carroll will STAY, as will Cole and Downing, at least until January
6-People will start believing that BR IS a good manager and will not be as wasteful with the scarce funds we have as KK was
7-We will finish 7th in the Premier League
8-We will sign another Swansea player before the 31st.
9-No-one knows yet who will replace Agger!
10-Borini will be considered a flop
I stake my reputation as a respected armchair expert and pundit on these predictions and promise never to post again if I'm proved wrong on more than 6 of them! YNWA,
Learpholl {Ed002's Note - All perfectly possible.}

Borini wont be a flop

23 Aug 2012 17:58:47
hello eds, wen do you think the dempsey saga will end? deadline day perhaps? {Ed002's Note - We cannot predict such things.}

23 Aug 2012 17:51:46
I see Fulham have made a complaint about our pursuit of Dempsey. Ok, the cretin who put that Dempsey is a lfc player on the fenway website was wrong, although the article didnt say he had signed but that discussion were ongoing and looked like they were going to be finalised. This was obviously tosh and was taken done. But, upon seeing the verbals used by Jol into the basis of the complaint it seems pretty comical;

"If you have shown interest in a player, especially in England, you have to follow it up with an offer" (JOL)

No Martin. If the club enquiring don't like the price asked for the player they are not obligated bid for him!!

Fulham are notoriously hard to deal with at the best of times, and this does seem to be a bit OTT as usual.
Flagg

23 Aug 2012 17:51:44
Hi EDs and fellow Reds. I firmly believe that J W Hernry has the funds to delve into the transfer market but is holding fire due to being naive last summer. He was poorly advised by Comolli and spent well over the odds for players and feels he has learnt by this and will not be made to look a Fool again. He will spend what HE thinks is the right value for a player. I do believe more offers will be made between now and end of window for different players, but if they are not accepted he will limit his offer. What do Eds think of this? Lee. {Ed002's Note - My views are clear on the matter and have been for the past year.}

23 Aug 2012 17:49:43
To all the pessimists that bang on about players choosing Arsenal over us because they are in the champions league, can one of you explain the point of Arsenals presence in the CL, they are just one of the teams that are there to make up the numbers, they have no chance of success, we all know that apart from the deluded Gooners, Its all a bit like Exeter City taking part in a domestic cup competition, they can get a big game out of it, but at the end of the day they won't be winning any silverware. A least we have won the thing, and 5 times no less!

Sid

we are now 6 points away from the no 1 place, honestly at the end of the league 6 point difference does make big difference. hope we dont loose points easily by drawing nor by being defeated, good luck to the reds. hope these season we will be able to challenge big clubs in europe.

cheers

redh0t

Yes but they have played a game more than us so if we beat city it will only be three points

Look at it another way they have played twice as many games as us and we are only 6 points behind I'll take that come Christmas
Keep smiling

23 Aug 2012 17:46:33
This complaint bout Dempsy is BS, ferguson regularly talks bout other peoples players ( van persie, lucas, to name a couple) and harry redknapp did it almost every week. I also think that alfayed still feels sore over the whole hodgson saga and wants to make it hard for Liverpool, for such a successful business man he really should'nt be so emotional, it might come someday that he wants a player from Liverpool.

23 Aug 2012 17:42:38
It's a bit quiet for Liverpool standards? Calm before the storm?

23 Aug 2012 17:40:48
Hi Eds, just got a quick question for you. If Liverpool are looking at a possible deal for Walcott, and Arsenal are supposedly looking at Jesus Navas as a replacement, why aren't Liverpool looking at Navas? Personally I think he's a much better all round player, more experienced, technically gifted and more consistent. Do you know if Liverpool have shown any interest in him or if a move would be possible?

Cheers,
JimJim {Ed002's Note - I don't see Arsenal or Liverpool signing Navas. Sorry.}

23 Aug 2012 17:35:36
My predictions:

1) No more players to leave Liverpool, the squad is already too small
2) Nuri Sahin to sign for 12 months
3) Clint Dempsey to join

thats it , no more

Tel 1949

I'd be delighted with that, but I disagree that the squad is too small. Except for left back we've got two players for every position (not including the kids), plus an extra midfielder. If Sahin and Dempsey, or anyone for that matter, come in then surely it'll be in place of the likes of Adam, Spearing, Cole or Carroll. Hope Carroll stays like.

Kieran.

Ed002 did Pep buy or steal sparky the wonder dog from Huey Driscoll?

Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note - Sparky found Pepe living on the streets of Toxteth and took him in.}

Why don't you do your flirting in private guys.The last time I checked this was a Liverpool rumours & banter sight.NOT a sight for fantasising about the adventures of mythical creatures.

Mick D

Is that the same mick D that tried to have a restraining order placed on sparky, for biting his ankles (allegedly) whilst jogging through the back streets in his new spandex 'fitness kit'? Just saying...

BigBadBen

Ed do you think sparky would be offended If he saw that mick d called him a mythical creature? I'm sure he'd be offended {Ed002's Note - A would be most upset.}

Ed002, seriously, this could get published. I can picture it now:
Wonder Dog Sparky
By Ed002 {Ed002's Note - You should follow him on Twitter. He finds football tedious but once the transfer window is closed he tells me that he will be providing commentary on pressing polital issues and other matters he sees as important.}

Let's be honest when you've been killed by a truck then brought back to life by an angel you are always going to think that sports talk is a little unimportant in the great scheme of things

Chris in Tamworth

23 Aug 2012 17:28:14
Eds why do we mess around in the transfer market? Once again we have upset another team over a player I.e Dempsey. Why do we create so much drama instead of dealing with it in the correct manner.

Neilp

Have you ever haggled for something at the market? The only person who is happy is the one getting the good deal... of course there are going to be aggreived parties unless were paying £35m!

I'm not entirely convinced we did anything wrong here(with the exception of that news report in America claiming we had bought Dempsey...which wasn't the clubs fault).
Seems to me like Jol is just moaning that his player wants to join us and we haven't made a move yet(possibly for many reasons be it we are waiting to offload or maybe we are waiting for the price to drop as transfer seasons comes to an end.
Showing interest in a player does not oblige us to buy and as far as I'm concerned Jol can huff and puff till he's blue in the face..Liverpool should only move for a player when they think it's the right time...end of.

Bazingaa {Ed002's Note - The matter is nothing whatsoever to do with the error on the website.}

We've not done anything not done by most clubs on a regular basis. Nothing'll come of the complaint, and if the club weren't doing everything in their power to secure their targets I'd be disappointed.

Kieran

Oh I agree Ed002 in regards to that false report but have noticed in reading news reports about Fulham lodging a complaint that the media are using it, adding spin, anything to sell papers I suppose.

Bazingaa {Ed002's Note - The papers are publishing the story because a representative of the Premier League confirmed it when asked - no more. It is not a conspiracy against Liverpool.}

Lol I'm terribly sorry Ed002, I wasn't trying to suggest the was some kid of media conspiracy towards Liverpool F.C.... was just simply trying to say that every article I've read about this complaint by Fulham went on to mention that report error....maybe I'm not explaining myself well lol..I swear I don't believe Elvis is still alive or the Moonies we're behind 9/11.

Don't know how true it is but I read if we sign Sahin on loan that he wants a guaranteed starting place. Although I rate him highly, what happens to Shelvey? Does he go on loan another year. I thought he was one of our best players this summer. We also have Suso, who I'm sure will walk into our starting 11 in 2 years time.

Nothig wrong with having quality in squad depth for rotation which is what you need when tou want to be challenging for more than one trophy.

Personally I see Shelvey as Gerrards long term replacement and the two should be rotated accordingly.

Lol dont get Sahin on loan this season then cos Suso will be ready in 2 years!

Shelvy is a red card waiting to happen

Andy k

Love shelvey and think hes gonna be an awesome player. but the red card waiting to happen is bang on the money. the sooner it happens the sooner he might learn to stay on his feet!

Sahin is an injury risk as well. He was injured most of last season. But if he signs he should start over Shelvey as until he proves otherwise he is a more accomplished International player. It could also mean Stevie G pushing up to the right inside forward position alongside Suarez and Borini with Sahin in behind them, and Allen-Lucas holding the midfield and dictating play-tempo.

That leaves Shelvey, Henderson and maybe Adam for the midfield 3 as cover. With Rotation, Europa and League Cup Shelvey will get plenty of games even if Sahin is first choice.

I have a feeling that Shelvey is going to play inside right forward tonight in Europa.

Liverpool make 650,000 bid for Levante's second choice keeper Navas, Doni released.

Andy gray om talksport about the fact that liverpool must cut losses at end of the day everyone is saying it take £15m if u get more fine even take 12/13m cause thats a fair price fir him. Accept it was a big mistake but chelsea have been saying the same. End of the day we got suarez out of it so come on liverpool shoukd how much rodgers doesent believe in him at weekend 35m striker on bench struggling he comes on for an injury to joe cole. Cut our loses dalglish mistake(one of many by the king) and move on there is no time to dwell or wel end up further away.

So fulham have made a complaint about Clinton if we get a punishment, then the FA are out for us! The Suarez saga, city wanting agger, Torres and Chelsea?

Fulham complained in July, you haven't read the article properly.

Guillem Balague: "We do know now why Sahin hasnt accepted yet the loan deal to Arsenal.
His agent met yesterday Anfield

Thought you said he was defo going arsenal? {Ed002's Note - His agent seems to be screwing around a bit.}

23 Aug 2012 16:53:50
I think the fulham complaint is there last ditch attempt to get us to up our price.

They now the player head has been turned and he want's to go. This will be sorted in the next few days otherwise it will be hard for fulham to get a replacement. Can see us signing him for around £7.5 Million

Got a sneeky feeling about sahin, Macca always seems to be right and he was pretty sure on Sahin. Plus I heard that as part of the loan deal, Real madrid said he wasn't allowed to play in champions league as they really want to win it. So CL isn't actually the problem. It really is all down to where he chooses.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a late push for a winger too. But will see.

Just my thoughts. {Ed002's Note - The Fulham complaint was made weeks ago.}

Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin has reportedly completed a medical ahead of a season-long loan move to Arsenal.

a website Germany claim the Turkey international has agreed terms, as have the Gunners and Real, and the deal will be confirmed at some point in the next 24 hours.

ed002

Thanks for reply. It would seem that there are many dependecies here, which, imo, makes the whole thing risky.

We understand what options are or could become possible for and being looked at by LFC, to whatever varying degrees.
A Johnson, Walcott, Dempsey, Lisandro, Sturridge etc.
Bar Dempsey, all those an many others as well would cost upwards of £12m, money we currently don't have.

As Agger looks almost certain to stay, our best chance of a meaningful sales gains is Carroll.
But problem there seems to be the fact that the gap between what's offered and what's desired is huge.

Ed002 what exactly would we be prepared to accept and what's realistically out there?
I don't know the exact details but I'm sure what Newcastle's offered (£12m) falls way below what we looking for (circa £18m, I think).

If push comes to shove and we accept £12m for Carroll, are to ship off Adam for £5m, and augment that with whatever little we have now, we could have close to 20m.
That'll be enough to secure maybe Dempsey and Johnson (10m each).

So in short, ed002, (1) who do you see us selling and making how much, (2) which of our options would those funds secure, (3) lastly, is it really out of the question that both Adam and Carroll will be here September 1st, thus Allen being our last 'significant' acquisition?

WILLIE {Ed002's Note - If a buyer could be found for Carroll I would suspect the club would get something like £14.26M. If Spearing and Adam also leave I would see that Dempsey and one other will arrive. Walcott is someone Macca has mentioned as being of interest and perhaps it could be him. There was interest in Vargas as well and that has dragged on.}

ED002 when u say there was interest in Vargas, do u mean that Liverpool enquired about him or did they talk to his agen about his availability?

S.G.L. {Ed002's Note - Liverpool have enquired about him but a move to Zenit or Genoa seems more likely at present.}

Ed, how did u get the value for Carroll? So precisely i mean!

VGRed {Ed002's Note - The usual way.}

Ed002, Is sparky travelling with pepe for the match? {Ed002's Note - Pepe has slept rough the last two nights after the "incident" - no doubt PepeCam will have some reports via WonderDogSparky on Twitter later. Sparky will soon be sending out a birthday message to Milly at 5:15 or so.}

23 Aug 2012 16:48:53
Ed, Apart from the obvious transfer outstanding of Dempsey (which is by no means done and dusted) and the fact that Sahin is practically a no go. Whom do you see us seriously interested in at the moment as most people seem to be guessing or just quoting lines from the papers. I would always prefer your opinion as it has always comes from a more reliable source.

Any answers would be great. Thanks as always and keep up the good work.

GouldyTrueRed {Ed002's Note - I do not see serious interest in others right now unless there are sales. As I have said, I would not rule out a deal being completed for Dempsey.}

23 Aug 2012 17:07:22
Fulham have reported Liverpool to perm league over Dempsey , can't see Fulham letting him go without us paying way over the odds.

Why such drama?
.........

Dempsey doesn't have a perm?

I dont understand the complaint.if we want him we wil bid for him.wat can the fa do about it? {Ed002's Note - The FA can punish a club for a breach of the rules.}

What was the breach...tapping up? If so, did that little snippet during an interview by rogers constitute tapping up? {Ed002's Note - It is a fairly trivial matter to do with statements from two folks at the club. They will likely be sent a letter each warning them off mentioning the names of other club's players when no discussions have been held or offers made.}

23 Aug 2012 17:04:58
I think its very unfair that we as a club have left Clint Dempsey in an unfavourable position. Why we dont just make a bid and get the guy is beyond me. He would add much needed goals to our misfiring line up (I count last season too not just West Brom game). We have the money or so the ED's say. Our squad is very thin on the ground as it is. Im aware it isnt a game of Champ Manager but if we got Dempsey and Johnson then I think we could really do some damage in the League. Also we need to keep Big Andy Carroll as he offers something very different because if you look at all the games Swansea lost or drew last season it was because they didnt have a game changer like AC to bring on in the last 20 minutes. Come on powers that be, make it so.
Jumble Boy

We've left him in the lurch since it was put up on the website that we'd signed him then took it down second's later! The power's that be hav'nt really got a clue! madrid convinces nuri sahin that Liverpool is best option for him as arsenal wanted a permanent deal option for him in which both madrid and sahin were not interested sahin's agent reza fazeli has met with Liverpool team deal can be announced soon

Why would we want a player with no option for a permanent deal, and particularly one who doesn't want to be here? We should be giving game time our own young players, not using it to assist the development of a Real Madrid player.
We are LFC, not a Real Madrid development squad.

He can have a good season with us and then we'll give him back and sign Alonso :)

DOL

1. Because he could be what we need this season 2. Who said he doesn't want to here? - The silly little newspapers? 3. May develop him but may develop us as a club an push is further up the table 4. We have no money so loan options are great 5. What if he gets really excited in his spell at Liverpool and asks for the permanent switch?

Well said,r.midrid are attempting to treat 2 great clubs like arsenal and liverpool like they are a championship clubs, bloody cheek {Ed002's Note - The Real Madrid manager has said he doesn't care where he goes.}

It might help get back into the cl in the short term.

If signing sahin on a simple 12 month loan deal with no option to buy means spearing and Adam out the door...then I'd be happy. Doesn't matter if we don't sign him perminantly at least we got our man and beat arsenal to him. Means we still have some respect in the transfer market after KK destroyed us. Still think he might be going to arsenal though

Just read that fulham have put a complaint in to the premier league over our pursuit of clint Dempsey ...... I know that fulham are trying to force our hand now...... But come on, we yet again have become the laughing stock of the premiership, it just seems to be one thing after another with Liverpool, we are made to look like a fool in the press all the time..... Why don't we just stop all the nonsense because no one takes us seriously anymore......we have become a laughing stock and I'm sick of it...... Just run the club and stop messing about and get some good press instead of messing our image up all the time

Craig {Ed002's Note - This is some weeks ago - not now.}

How are we laughing stock?the club have done nothing more than anyother club,we where linked to him so what,players are linked to clubs every window. It wasnt an offical Liverpool website that made the Dempsey error.Sick of fans saying we are a laughing stock to other teams fans so what,I look at other teams and think they are a laughing stock too.f

Hey ed002! a website are reporting that Fulham have made an official complaint to the Premier League over our pursuit of Clint Dempsey! My question is what kind of penalty are we facing? Is it because they think that we have tapped the player up?! An answer would be appreciated! Cheers, Scouserseb {Ed002's Note - This is not a new thing, it happened a few weeks ago. I will no doubt result in a strongly worded letter. I would not worry about it too much.}

Afternoon ed fellow reds , so fulham are reporting us to the fa for tapping up a player that most of us don't want.that a good start to the new PR regime NOT cheers psv

So Dempsey is your first choice transfer for season then ?

Sahin hasn't accepted a loan deal with Arsenal yet! because he has had a second meeting with Liverpool F.C. After he has all the info he will make a decision. Also Charlie Adam has been told that an acceptable offer from a club will see him sold!!!

BR moaning about our "Small Squad"...... well why did u let Bellamy, Maxi and Kuyt leave then.... they are still very capable squad players who can make an impact on a game {Ed052's Note - They will be replaced}

Maybe because they all wanted to go.

Maxi and Kuyt were on exorbitantly high wages and were no longer effective enough on the pitch. Bellamy can't play every game at a high level. Made sense to sell them.

Mantis

They ALL wanted to go, Bellamy to finish back home and for family. Maxi and Kuyt for more playing time in the twilight of their careers.

Would you rather have people not realy interested in being there if they are on the bench, or younger players with a future ahead of them eager to impress.

In which world is that squad small, with all the youth players now in the first team. Suso should be used more. Infact should replace cole. If sahin moves and spearing and Adam finally depart.

Gerrard, Lucas, Allen, sahin, Henderson, shelvey, suso.

I think everybody would agree that's one of the best midfields in the prem.

Now Guillem Balague is saying this "We do know now why Sahin hasnt accepted yet the loan deal to Arsenal. His agent met yesterday Anfield owners. He wants all info on table"
Not sure how reliable he is but I do remember him being spot on when we sold Torres.

Recoill1975 {Ed052's Note - Maybe there is something in it, im not sure. As I said, we will find out soon}

I said earlier, Arsenal have pushed too hard for a permanent move after the year loan, which shows they have no intention of wanting him to be back at Madrid next season. And Sahin only wants a 1 year loan, that's all, he wants to make it at Madrid. Arsenal got greedy, they could have just left the 'option-to-buy' clause open, similar to the Julio Baptista loan all those years go.

Madrid will not be told what price their players can leave for after loans. And now Liverpool is looking like a real option, as now pushing a move to Arsenal under current agreements will upset relations between Sahin and Madrid, and he doesn't want this. Now unless Arsenal retract the buy option, then Liverpool's offer will be moved forward with - hence the delay and agent talks with LFC owners. The owners got involved the moment Arsenal hadn't closed the deal, as the club still believe he could still sign with us.

So what is the reason why he didnt accept the loan deal to arsenal?

Arsenal arnt greedy you fool,they want the best for arsenal.they would have to play him easing him into the sqaud not to mention one of there contracted players sitting on the bench,even though hes been out of form and injured for quite a while also not proven in the prem,just to hand him back to R.M.a better player at the end of the season.i would want R.M. to be paying for that service.in the words of mourinho "hes missing somthing that only the premier league will give him".so before you start making silly comments,learn to put 2x2 together

Hi eds because Fulam have made a complaint to the PL about our interest in dempsey and not making a bid do you think Fulam have done this so that we make an official bid? Cheers {Ed052's Note - I dont see why they would do it, but I can see an agreement being reached soon, it will force our hand}

Ed how can they complain? It's up to us whether we bid or not? {Ed052's Note - It is. I dont know when we did this ''tapping up'', but apparently it was something Rodgers said. All he said was we had inquired. It's odd, but this will probably mean a deal will be done now}

Fulham are an absolute joke of a club. Moaning for a team being interested in one of their players. I wouldn't bother with them anymore. If they had their own way then no players would be able to move to other clubs.

Bid 6 million for him

5 MIL WOULD BE BETTER DRAGON3383

Fulham have made an official complaint about Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers' over the pursuit of Clint Dempsey. Surely this can't be true. It doesn't make sense and compared to fergies constant rhetoric over RVP, our club has behaved impeccably. {Ed052's Note - It's true. But Dempsey will probably sign}

Behaved impeccably? it also mentions an unathorised approach.dont forget the agreement with rodgers/liverpool and swansea not to poach players.it was forgotten within a fortnight.gutter press no.guterpool yes

We have bought 1 player from Swansea who had a buy out clause of £15million. Which me met. What is wrong with that then smart arse?

Eds. Not sure if you have ever been asked this, but here goes anyway;
If you were in charge, knowing what you know about the financial limitations of the club, and the availability of players on the market, who would you be pursuing any why....? Also, who would YOU expend from our current squad?
I feel it would be fresh perspective, next to that of the idealists among us..
Regards,
Ice Popp {Ed002's Note - I am sorry but I don't have time for such things, but no doubt others will take a shot at it.}

Kevin gameiro to score the goals to fire us into the champions league, wouldnt cost the earth approx 10 million, 50 grand a week wages , problems solved

tom1975

I'd sell (or try to) Adam, Carroll, Spearing, and Downing. Assuming that was successful, I now have ~£35M to work with (£5M, £18M, £2M, £10M).

Buy Honda for £15M, Kevin Volland for £4M, Clint Dempsey for £10M, Wanyama for £6M.

My hypothetical starting 11:

Reina
Johnson Agger Skrtel Enrique
Honda Lucas Allen
Suarez Borini Dempsey

2nd 11:
Gulasci
Kelly Carragher Coates Robinson
Gerrard Wanyama Henderson
Assaidi Volland Sterling

He is useless. Wouldn't want him anywhere near Anfield.

Colo Useless?? Cheers then. In every pundits PL season 11. Better than every CB you have at Liverpool. Keep thinking like and you will finish exactly where you did last season.

Better than Agger and Skrtel . Get lost you muppet.

on a lighter note what's the worst name you guys have ever seen on the back of a shirt? I only ask because i was walking past ibrox earlier today and saw a woman with "peppa pig" on the back of her rangers shirt lol that definitely has to be the worst ive seen, might have been excusable if it was a kid but it was a woman in her 30s lol

I remember seeing a Liverpool shirt with 'Vorinin' on it a few times. That was pretty awful, especially as it was on the pitch.

Nuri sahin will be joining liverpool on loan. His agent is/will be in liverpool to tie up the deal after his move to arsenal hit a stop because they want a permanent deal after the year which isnt in favour with either real madrid or sahin. His preference now is liverpool!

So why is it hes going to Arsenal then ?

23 Aug 2012 14:57:46
Read some reports regarding Hector Zorro Herrera (mexican midfielder, played in the olympics) heading to either Man Utd or Liverpool. His current team Pachucas confirmed that he's heading for the Premiership and talks has been made with both Liverpool and Man Utd... Any thoughts?

Hi eds and reds!

Well I just wanted to know whether it is true that we are gonna sign Sahin? Ur thoughts on him pls

Aneesh {Ed052's Note - no we wont}

23 Aug 2012 14:51:38
Ed if you can please ask Sahin to sign for Arsenal or any one else, its getting really boring reading about him. Ed i feel it has been a pretty decent transfer window for us it would be better if we got rid of Cole, Adam and spearing. All I want us is to buy better players for good value of money don't make some other club financially sound (Newcastle) by paying them over the odds. If we fell that there are any good players for bargain don't buy them wait and we will find few. I like way clubs like Valencia, Sporting,Benifica or even few of the Russian club get the talented players and after few years sell them for a very high price and reinvest in other talent because ultimately clubs like ours will lose our best players to teams like Chelsea, Man city , Barca or Madrid so why not sell a superstar once in every two years and invest that money just like Valencia and co. I really like the way we dealt with the Assaidi transfer no leaked news and 2.4 mil for a decent player where as clubs are willing to pay 10 mil for Jarvis,I am even enjoying the way Swansea is doing business. Hope you wont mind me writing such a long long post :)

Ed002, I'd like clarity from you on a few points.
Yesterday in reply to a post you indicated that buying a new player/s needn't be a dependent on sales.

Now I've just seen your comments replying to 'THE Sumon VAI' that Carroll would first have to be sold to raise funds for any Sturridge purchase.
Are you saying that as things stand, LFC are so hamstrung financially that we can't afford to shell out £11m-£14m on a new signing (roughly what Sturridge would cost)?

Exactly what can we afford right now, as things stand?
Because if the condition is 'sell-to-buy', then I think some fellow reds, already frustrated by what they perceve an 'underwhelming' summer, could be in for more disappointment.

As you've said yourself, ed002, no concrete interest followed up by an acceptable bid exists.
Management seems far from keen taking a huge hit (Newcastle, £12m).
So Carroll could very well stay.
Agger looks increasingly likely to pen down a new deal.

So only folk we could sell is Adam and Spearing, and for a pittance, a combined £6m-£8m.

There's no guarantee that Carroll and Agger, hell even Adam, will be shipped out and any meaningful cash raised.
So on that and on what ed002 maintained (measly-to-no funds), it's not out of the question that Assaidi may well be our last bit of business.
Your clarification on these matter will be most appreciated ed002.
Cheers

WILLIE {Ed002's Note - Any significant expenditure would require money to be raised by sales - so if a bid were to be made for Sturridge that money would need to be raised through the sale of someone like Carroll. Bringing in a player such as Sahin on loan or someone at the cost of Assaidi for example would much cheaper and could be managed without sales. I would still expect one or two in and outs before the end of the month.}

Bloody hell ed002 you have a stalker on your case.. He may be waiting outside your house right now..

Just want to thank all the liverpool fans who have shown support towards Kevin Sheedy, its good that the merseyside family can come together at times like this and show support to each other, thanks guys have good season. Blue

Bow your head in shame whoever hit the disagree button

My dad knew him in the 80's and although he only played about nine times for Liverpool and spent most of his career at Everton he was a terrific player and a nice lad.
I hope he gets better and gets back to his job coaching the kids at Everton.
I wish him and his family well for the future.

It's probably Utd fan who hit disagree just take know notice of it.

Long time visitor to the site but only recently became a 'regular' poster...and that was mainly down to the amount of negative, pointless persons spouting out their tripe day in day out (redturk, bosco etc). Now, I know most of these clowns aren't fans of LFC (despite their protestations and continued use of YNWA) but even so I think they deserve to be given as much grief as humanly possible, especially on a BANTER site. Challenge thses creeps, show them up for the cretins they are and this site will regain its former glories. The eds will see their work is not in vain and perhaps the buffoons will return to their villages and take up their rightful place as persons. Ah, one can hope.

Trust in BR, the good times are genuinely on their way. YNWA.

Well said...I have no issue with constructive intelligent criticism but some of the nasty things said recently by "fans" has been disgraceful.
I know this quote has been used a lot lately but it doesn't make it any less true.... "If you can't support us when we draw or lose, don't support us when we win"

Hi eds, quick question: does BR's 'nutcase' comment about selling AC suggest to you that he's no longer looking to bring in another striker or is it designed to stir any interested clubs into action? {Ed002's Note - Interest remains in Dempsey.}

I think Dave Whelan and Mohamed al Fayed are going to end up with egg on their faces at the end of this transfer window, they are being unrealistic with their evaluations for Moses and Dempsey respectively. Both players are entering into the final year of their contracts, both intend to leave rather than sign new contracts, if the clubs wanted them to stay they would have offered better contracts 1 to 2 years ago, even if they intended to sell eventually this would have been sensible.

IMO the players should stay for a season and sign pre-contracts in the new year with the clubs of their choice. Ged

Has anyone considered the fact that rodgers is finished in the transfer market? He siad he will be bringing in 1-2 players in the next 48 hours and thats all. that was a week ago, and he bought 1 in. A case can be made that sahin is still a possibility but i suspect taht is all that will happen. It was a clear indication that BR isnt chasing anyone else, so if he suddenly decides to splash more cash then they will be rushed signings with little or no scouting, always a bad scenario to be in!

He didn't mean he was only signing 1 or 2 players, he meant he expected 1 or 2 of his targets to be done in that 48 hour period, but there was still more targets being looked at but it would take longer to get the deals done, i still expect 1 or 2 more ins and outs

Arsenal Expected Nuri Sahin for Medical On Monday, Real Madrid Man Didn't Turn Up.
The Sahin saga still hasn't been put to rest, although a resolution appears to be around the corner. In the end the Turk's final destination seems to be Liverpool, where his agent, Reza Fazeli, travelled to meet the Anfield club's hierarchy and iron out the details of the deal.
Inter Milan also now showing interest though.

Hello Eds,
are cole, Spearing, Adam or Carroll any closer to the exit ? I don't mind if carroll stayed but the other three have ro be moved on. Forget incomings I will be happy if we managed to sell these and Just promote Sterling, Suso, Morgan or Ngoo.

Why dont you try getting off our current players backs ? They are good players who can do a first class job for LFC.

Joe Cole is an England International and a top player.
Charlie Adam is a Scottish International and is also a brilliant player
Jay Spearing has played his heart out for LFC and will continue to do so if required.
Andy Carroll is an England No1 choice for selection and is a top player

Stop jumping on the 'get a,b,c d out bandwagon' and start supporting you no named goon, sorry person

Tel 1949

Do you truely believe that or are you trying to convince yourself.
Joe cole he came on to play twice got injured twice. Need I say more
Charlie Adam is horrible.
Spearing I feel is only at the club because he is from the acadamy.
Carroll I told I am ready to give a chance only because He cost the club a lot and to be fair the money we could pocket now for him will be same after a year.

1351: FOOTBALL

Clint Dempsey will once again be missing from Fulham's squad when they travel to Old Trafford for Saturday's Premier League match with Manchester United.

Fulham manager Martin Jol feels the United States international, 29, is not in the right frame of mind after transfer speculation linking him with a move to Liverpool: "It's the same situation. There has been no formal bid on the table and nothing has changed."

I've read previous posts suggesting it will take time for our players to adapt to 4-3-3. The modern tactic is 4-2-3-1 and looking out our squad this seems eminantly more suited to our players.
Reina is an excellent Keeper/Sweeper allowing CB's to play a relatively high line
Rodgers wants to play Lucas and Allen, both suited to the defensive midfielder role, good gamebreakers and decent in possession, perfect for linking defence to attack.
2 defensive midfielders means progressive full backs to provide width and a permanent "out ball." This suits both Johnson and Enrique who are a little suspect occasionally.
Suarez and Assaidi could provide the invention/ flair as the wide players in an advanced midfield three. Gerrard, more central would operate similarly to his days behind Torres.
Finally the forward. Rodgers has bought Borini to play and he would stretch defences with his clever runs. Alternately Carrol in that role provides a more physical presence in the final third.
I believe this is a system that would also benefit our fringe and youth players looking to break through. Henderson covers the DM role, Suso and Sterling the wider attacking midfielders and a Dempsey type player would fill anywhere across the front line.
Sama and Coates will replace Skrtle/Agger in time and Wisdom, Robinson etc have massive futures at the club.
Do fellow Reds agree this seems to work better for us than 4-4-3?

Paul, Staffs.

What and play no keeper?

JossLFC

I explained that Rodgers likes to play 2 holding midfielders when he first took over after the Week of Martinez and mad Dave Whelan, but i got slated and excused of being negative about the new manager.

He does like his teams playing a 4-2-3-1 system which he chops to a more compact 4-5-1 at times. Which i also explained is similar to Rafa Benitez's 4-5-1 system.

4-4-3 thatsa bit unfair

Personally, I think 4-3-3 is the way to go.

Now, if you could just get everyone to turn a blind eye to your extra player......

Mrpjd

Trust my scurrilous 4-4-3 not to get past you eagle eyed lot,ofcourse I meant 4-3-3 lol. Glad to see your comments lend me to believe 4-2-3-1 is the way Rodgers will set up. I think we have the perfect personnel to play it.

Paul, Staffs.

People get too worked up on formation, its about the players roles. A 4-2-3-1 can become a 4-2-1-3 simply if the 2 wingers push up a bit further. It can be a 4-3-3 if the AM drops a bit deeper. Personally I'd say if you want to get technical about Rodgers formation he likes to play a 4-2-1-3 because he wants the wingers to really push forward and press.

I thought Rodgers liked to play 3-2-1 ... (sorry that was another Rogers!)

Not a rumour but i honestly doubt very much Sturridge will be coming , or at least i hope not as hes selfish and not that good. I would personally rather have Fletcher for the money which i know a few people have baulked at.

I do think there are deals in place behind the scenes ( a bit of a merry go round with some people in and others finding new clubs to allow the moves etc.... )

I'm pretty sure Dempsey will join but not sure who else at all but I trust BR and think he will be much shrewder than KK in any dealings.

I don't want caroll to leave but i cant help but think there's more to it than BR not rating him ( i.e. he now wants to go to Newcastle rather than stay as made out). To be fair if this is the case you cant really blame him as his confidence must have been shattered pre -season. Would love however to see him tear it up tonight and kiss the badge.

Just a few pointless points as bored at work.

23 Aug 2012 13:40:24
Reports going round are the Sahin deal has taken a new turn. He wants Arsenal on loan not on a permanent as he still sees his future at Real Madrid but Arsenal want him on a permanent after the loan which Real don't want as they want their man back and would prefer Liverpool who are offering a better deal with the loan option only but he doesn't want Liverpool as he would prefer to play in the CL which Arsenal are in but Wenger is sick of grooming players for other teams and insists he would want an option to buy. Brrrr. Good luck with this one.
DAni

Sahin will join Arsenal. The "stall" and renewed link to LFC is simply to apply pressure on Arsenal to accept Madrid's terms. He won't be joining The Reds.

Liverpool will only be signing Clint Dempsey and that is it for us. Rodgers does not have the funds to purchase anyone else and Adam Johnson rumours are a joke at best.

We can't attract the high calibre players anymore. A mid table team is what we are now just face reality.
Can't beat West Brom and we will get ripped apart by city on Sunday.

I would like to see Johnson, Sahin (impossible now as he is close to securing a move to Arsenal) and Sturridge but this is not financially viable unless Andy is sold.

Why would you want Sturridge & Adam Johnson when we have Downing already aswell??
They play pretty much the same position (cutting in from the right onto their left foot), Sturridge is by far a better player out of the 3 IMO.

Rocky

No offense intended but go support some other team...if all you can do is predict us getting "ripped apart by city" then you don't deserve to be a Liverpool fan

While the anonymous post might be a bit harsh, I doubt what happens after the loan has played as big a part as youthink, more the agent messing about. Wages won't be a huge problem although obviously will be a factor in one way or another.

Flagg {Ed002's Note - The wages are a known and fixed amount. They will be paid in full by the club taking him on loan.}

Did we not pay some of aqulannis wages at juve an milan?same with joe cole?same with city for adebayore an co.arsenal dont pay big wages thats why they lose so many players to other teams that do!sahin will be on big bucks at real madrid!
deano mcc {Ed002's Note - 2.8M euros - about £40k a week.}

Well thats pretty cheap for a german footballer of year,they got a steal madrid an his price tag was only 10mill!thx for the reply edd002 deano mcc

Not according to some reports ed, which suggest LFC are prepared to poay a higher percentage of Sahin's wage than Arsenal. No expert on the ins and outs of loan deals, but there do seem to be a lot of different ways of handling wages in situations like this.

Flagg {Ed001's Note - the reports are talking nonsense, we don't pay the kind of wages they are claiming it will cost.}

Eds, please could you answer this for me.
Not necessarily lfc related in whole but here goes...

Steven Fletcher to Sunderland - having a medical today apparently or tomorrow -do you think he will be signed in time for Sunderland to play him this weekend, or would you expect him to lose out on that game?

Also, if Downing plays against Hearts tonight, would you imagine Assaidi starting in his place against City for Liverpool this weekend? Much appreciated.

Os Red {Ed052's Note - hard one, I would say no, but I'm probably wrong}

I think Assaidi will come on later in the game, might be too soon for him to start considering hes new to the squad.

A guy I've been getting my info off told me Rodger's #1 target is Dempsey, but I'm starting to doubt his information. I mean, Dempsey clearly doesn't want to be at Fulham, so if we want him that much I'm sure we'd have thrashed a deal out with Fulham? He's saying the reason there is no news is because of the asking price, but surely they're in a position where it's better to sell him now?

Anything you can share with me ed?

A puzzled Tom. {Ed052's Note - minstrels?}

I'll have some too - i like those!

This shows what's wrong with this site at times. Most of you Eds are great but when people are asking genuien questions they would appreciate genuine responses and not ones like "minstrels" or "screwfix..." etc. I'm not having a go but can we have more serious responses from some of the eds (in particular 052)?

Thank you {Ed052's Note - Sorry mate, its so stressful editing that we must let our fustration out.}

"A guy i've been getting my info off"...
Haha, so funny, i could google "Dempsey (and about 1000 other players) Liverpool" and the info is there haha.
My girlfriends brother is good friends with Brendan Rodgers since his time at Reading and he talks to Brendan regularly and still cant get any info for me so surely most the stuff we hear is BS and paper talk.
Let the Assaidi transfer be a lesson to all, we all have our targets in mind but its down to 1 person and 1 person only who will make a decision on who comes and goes at LFC.

Nuri Sahin passes medical and signs for Arsenal. Nuri Sahin has agreed a one-year loan move to Arsenal, according to reports in Germany.

German media claims that the former Borussia Dortmund midfielder has completed his medical at Arsenal with an announcement expected from the Gunners in the next 24-hours. Sahin could now be included in the squad for the trip to Stoke City on Sunday.

Source: The Independent website

They have got this news from german media which is not updated. ben smith of bbc has denied any report of medical. moreover, if there was a medical arsenal would have officially confirmed that.

All those people moaning about not spending a lot of money:

a) As already mentioned by Ed's, with regards to spending we are 8th highest in Europe this season alone

b) Big money players are not likely to want to come to a team who are not in the Champions League

c) What happened when Kenny was given lots of money to spend? He rushed into it and lost us a lot of money. Ever think that they are giving Rodgers full time to assess the squad before going out and buying stupid as well.
I'm also thinking that the Dempsey thing could all be to do with getting other teams to realise we are not going to pay stupid money for players anymore?

d) We have some excelent youngsters coming through, who deserve a chance, and they are not going to get it if we start spending big money on players.

Overall, yes, i'd love us to go and spend money and buy quality players, but over the next 3 years, if we have players like Suarez, Borini, Henderson, Allen, Assaidi, Shelvey, Lucas, Suso, Sterling, Kelly, Flannagan, Coates, Wilson. As well as the existing team players now that will be available (Skrtel, Agger, Reina, etc)
I don't think we have to spend a lot of money, we will never be able to compete with City and Chelsea with money, so we need to buy for the future.
I hope that this makes sense to everyone? Agree?

Maybe because they are not and never were are targets,,GROW UP

Liverpool, which was the first club on the scene, has once again emerged as the most suitable option, as the player knows that Brendan Rodgers will guarantee him a place in the starting line-up. Sahin approved a switch to Anfield on Tuesday, leading his representative to undertake his whirlwind trip to complete the deal.

What happened to the owners saying,
"there is no transfer budget there is considerable funds available if the right player becomes available."

Now I get an impression that Brendan although very shrewd with not over spending has his hands tied somewhat. I am not suggesting he goes on a Man City spending rampage but surely he would buy another couple of players Striker and winger if he got the green light? I think we have spent 30 million and reduced the wage bill a lot (heard the 3 new signings are on less combined than aqualini!)

I understand we have a plan to improve financial standing but I am surprised at the level investment they have given so far.

Kev the Red

I have heard they released further funds (around 10m) to sign a striker with, I know it still seems frustrating but they do sort of stick to their words, if he's been given more money to spend on people he needs, let's just wait til the end of the window (:
Cal

Over £100m wasted, I mean spent might have something to do with it. Without Champions League football we can't afford to be spending £100m on transfers a season as well as wages.
AK47

Never mind citeh - We need a chelsea Rampage

It seems we are struggling to find a decent striker to come in . Can't hellp but think we should of kept bellamy.

Suarez, Bellamy, Carroll, Borrini.

Not bad. It looks like it's time for the young lads to get there chance. They can't do it, if they have the talent. Look at neymar, messi, rooney, owen, fowler all had a chance when they were young and look at them now. They have to deal with the pressure but that the same now or in the future.

Fsg rescued our club and for that we should be grateful. However, why have they not recruited people to work on player acqusitions? This is not a job for Ian Ayres. Whilst the status of the club is not what it was, it would be useful to have someone who can attract players who are excited by the project. It's the only chance we have of attracting the calibre of players we need. I'm not talking about the absolute top class players as they will go top the champs league sides but the next rung down.
Just go out and buy lewandowski and stop faffing about!

With that attitude of "just going out and buying lewandowski" we could spend what? 40m Euros? If he doesn't settle what then? You will be criticising everybody involved in the club, saying the money was ridiculous and he's a terrible player.
Don't suggest stuff which is unlikely and impractical.

You can always be grateful for the past

My mum bought me a pair of trousers when I was six they don't fit me know and there is no arse in them should I still be grateful or has time moved on?

I fully understand the owners trying to get the wage bill down and by adding numerous new sponsers generates further income it's long over due. But we now live in an age where the two Manchester clubs and the three top London clubs are continuing to pull further and further away from us both in depth in squad, quality players, Stadium revenue, and money if the owners don't try and keep up we have no chance of getting back into the top four.

This transfer window as been embarrassing compared to our rivals, yes we've reduced the wage bill, and yes we've added 3 decent young players but not at the level our rivals have bought. I hate to say it but are becoming a top 10 team, all the top players want CL football and we are left fighting for average potentially good players with the likes of Everton.

The owners always wanted a young manager when they first took control of the club and looking back now I wish they had gone down that route and let someone like BR spend there £100 million plus to rebuild the squad. Now we operate on a shoe string budget without it seems any true vision of where the club is going, the owners are still unsure on the stadium which again is becoming a joke.

Iv supported Liverpool for 35yrs this year and this is the first time iv ever had such a bad feeling going into a new season and the future of our great club, I hope I'm wrong.

The wizards sleeve

I see where you are coming from but there are 11 vs 11 on a football pitch and anyone can beat anyone nowadays , it's going to take time to get to where we want to be, the owners are at the beginning of there plan...... They are lowering the wage bill which is good coz we had to many average players on silly amounts of money, n we have a smaller squad to build upon now, the owners are trying to get us financialy stable n then they will build what they want to achieve, we just have to be patient coz its going to be Afew seasons before we see improvement ....... I'm keeping the faith n will support our team until we get there..... So r u with me or not......

According to a website

Rodgers rules out Carroll exit
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has claimed he would 'need to be a nutcase' to let striker Andy Carroll leave Anfield on loan.

Also I agree with it, hes a young lad and he will bang the goals in when he gets confidence and experience.

But rodgers claims well seen 2-3 more people ? so where would we get funds and they cant be very big dear signings like 17 mil ramirez etc surely there out of the way unless agger went.

Michael

I think the key word in BR's statement is "loan". If he gets an acceptable cash offer for AC then he will def sell him as he needs the cash to strengthen the squad. Personally id play him as the focal point striker and see how it goes..

He didn't rule out selling him.

Lets get this right once and for all...
Rodgers doesn't wanna let Andy Carroll go out on loan, ok so far?
He wants to sell him for at least £20m.
Rodgers wants 3 more players, 2 on loan and a striker, with £20m to spend we could get a very good striker, plus 2 good loan signings.
Problem is time is running out and noone will pay £20m for Carroll. We were very stupid to pay £35m for Carroll in the first place, now we face a major loss on him as he is nowhere near good enough and doesn't justify the price-tag.

Rocky

23 Aug 2012 11:43:27
"Absolutely no chance - and certainly not Newcastle," Rodgers added. "Newcastle got £35m for this player last year.
"I need a minimum of three strikers. Once the window shuts, that is it until January. I have got Luis Suarez, Fabio Borini and Andy Carroll.
"I would need to be a nutcase to even consider letting Andy Carroll go at this moment."

Rodgers has been quoted saying this on the BBC, Still think we'll try and flog him ed's?

Reevesy {Ed002's Note - The problem is no one is interested in him.}

Shame KK hadn't gone to another club maybe he would have paid us £40 mil for him

Any chance of victor Moses? Great young winger who can score goals. Chelsea aren't prepared to pay £9m (even after over paying for the likes of Torres etc) surely he would be a great signing for us as none of players seem to be able to find the back of the net.

Where did you get the idea he scores goals? He is not great, is average, does not pass, plays with his head down and is a ball hog. Oh and he has scored a grand total of 9 goals!! in 3 seasons at Wigan.

How did we manage to pay Swansea 15m for Joe Allen, while even super over spenders City can sign from them a player as good as Scott Sinclair for just 5m?

Fumbler

Because we got stitched up again like we did last season when we paid over the odds for Carroll, Downing, Henderson and Adam - we have not learnt our lesson. And I hope we do not pay around 10m for Moses.

Because it was the buy out clause, doesn't everyone know this?

Did you watch Allen, hsi first game and he was our best player, just wait til he settles

Length of contract maybe?
AK47

We paid 15m because his release clause was 15m. BR clearly believes in him and so should we. Theory - BR knew his wage at Swansea - Allen is clearly getting paid more than he was at Swansea but it isnt eye watering like some other players. Hence, the 15m to cover his release clause will be recoupped somewhat by his wage being slightly less than some of the other "over paid" players? Just a thought..

DJ

1 year left on contract , Joe Allen had 4 year's left .

LB

Sinclair's contract is running out and Allen had a £15m clause.

Hans

Sinclair's on the last year of his contract. And they won't get him for £5mill, get real. {Ed052's Note - A bit more, £7.}

Sinclair is in the last year of his contract and told the club he would not sign a new one.
considering matt jarvis is going to west ham for 8-9 million and steven fletcher is going to sunderland for 10-11 million,i really thing 15 million for joe allen is fair enough.

red jay

Allen had a 15m get out clause in contract. Sinclair had no get out clause in contract and was in last year of contract. Redevon

Are really this dopey or have you had plenty of practise?

Sinclair is in the last year of his contract and is refusing to sign another one, Allen had just signed a new long term contract.

JRG

After the mess against WBA even neutral commentators and analysts said Allen was our best player and one to watch this season...and that was without having played with the team previously

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has accused Newcastle of taking "a liberty" in their pursuit of Andy Carroll.

Rodgers said he would be a "nutcase" to allow the England striker to leave the club with only nine days of the transfer window left.

"To even consider wanting to take him on loan is a liberty," Rodgers said.

"Absolutely no chance - and certainly not Newcastle," Rodgers added. "Newcastle got £35m for this player last year.

"I need a minimum of three strikers. Once the window shuts, that is it until January. I have got Luis Suarez, Fabio Borini and Andy Carroll.

Ive seen a few posts from various fans, still upset about Dalglish's departure. If i was to sum up the situation by reffering to Dalglish as your Ex Girlfreind, Carroll as a Hand Bag, Downing as a pair of heels and the EPL as the Bedroom, this is how it put it.

Its kinda like getting back with a girl you loved years ago. You had some really happy times, and went through thick and thin together. Then it ended on mutual terms, but you both remained very close freinds.

21 years later you decide to give it another go and at first your getting on fantastic! Christmas time comes, and the pair of shoes she loves gets trashed. She sells them on ebay and ends up getting a fortune for them from some Rich, cockney person who has money to burn. She ends up replacing them last minute before the shops shut with a big pair of heels that looked great in the shop window.

These giant heels just didnt look right on her feet from day one, and didnt match anything she was wearing. She decides to buy other expensive comodities like Handbags, Dresses, D&G glasses but none of it looked nice on. After giving it time, she still looks dated, but trys to justify the price tag on them. Still, after time goes by, people are starting to laugh at you and her as these expensive clothes just are working together. Unfortunately, she wasnt the stunner that she was 21 years ago and failed to stand out around the other girls. The girl you love just cant move with the times.

It hadnt been right in the bedrrom for some time, and even though she was trying to make out it was okay, it wasnt. She always looked to other things and blamed the last year of expensive items and lack of bedroom activity on "hitting the bar 35 times".Enough was enough, you had to close a curtain on what had been a emotional and memorable period. You will always have affection for the girl, but you have to let her go.

In the distance there was another girl who all the guys had there eye on. She was attractive, spoke well, got on with your mates and best of all, she shops in Primark and still looks amazing. She wore a spanish perfume called 'tika taka' which smelt awesome. This little beauty goes by the name of Brendan Rodgers, and i personally see ourselves being united for years to come.

I thought you guys needed a love story to cheer you up!

Just a thought on our supposed 'fringe' players:

1) Charlie Adam, hes still a good footballer, despite some of the harsh views on here, very inventive and a great striker of the ball. His free kicks were amazing, and it doesnt matter what division you play in, a good free kick is a good free kick. His tackling is not good, but thats never been his forte. I think he could play a part within the squad, My view: a good footballer, well worth keeping
2) Jay Spearing, a terrier in midfield, great attitude, constantly working and trying. Needs to improve some of his close ball control, but he is a good passer of the ball and a great tackler. My view: hes still young and developing, worth keeping
3) Kelly,a big strong and fast defender. A great prospect for the future. My view: definitely keep, great replacement at CB, would like to see him with Coates
4) Coates, proven good young player who can also score and won award at recent tournament. Big, strong, good header of the ball, calm, very skillful. Any defender who can do keepy uppy for as long as he can must be good! Hes a little slow but hey, so was Sammi Hypia. My view: Great prospect definitely keep him
5) Henderson, not really a fringe player but hasnt played much for Brendan. Definitely got great ball skills and energy, U21 captain and international player on the fringe of full time England squad. Wants to learn and great attitude. My view: Great prospect and definitely in Brendans rotating first team
6) Sterling, very young but great attitude and skill. My view: should start to break into first team reckoning this season, brilliant prospect for future.
7) Morgan, a lethal finisher, knows where the goal is. Highly rated by Robbie Fowler, so he must be good! My view: Will get opportunities this season and must be fit, sharp and ready to take his chance at a moments notice. Great prospect for this season and future.
8) Suso, what can I say ? Love him, great skillful player who is learning fast. He is almost ready to break into first team know, even though there is strong competition. needs to play more, loan would help him mature and develop. My view: definitely keep him, he is part of our future

If Im being honest I dont really know enough about the other kids who are on the fringe, but hearing some great reports about them

Am I happy with Brendans squad...DEFFO!

We have some wonderful players, and some great squad members who can all play.

I pray that Brendan can make it all happen, as you probably know I am a great Dalglish fan, but I am first and foremost a liverpool supporter, so lets get on with it!

Cmon you reds, we can do this !

Now thats more like the kind of posts we should be reading on here, great post with optimism well done,Tel 1949. I share your views, its time to get behind the club,not constantly knock it.We get enough of that from other clubs.Its sad to see our own fans doing their job for them,Simonpw

all we need is a clinical stiker because at west brom suarez had two or three sitters and if thhat clinical finisher was there he would of scored at least one of the so i dont know why Brendon Rodgers want all of these midfielders/defendersp/wingers for 5 million and them not even being that good, we just need to spend 20-35 million on a world class striker and not fuss about the wages for gods sake

Thank God David Dein left Arsenal all those years ago, since then they can't close any deals properly. Their 3 big singings earlier this window were quite easy to close, but as soon as one slightly challenging comes along, they can't follow it through! So for a change, it is now Liverpool who will benefit. Sahin on a 'year loan' by end of the week, then our power of persuasion and history and a push to sign him completely next May (I hope). This guy can get us into the CL, top stuff.

Eurosport on Yahoo have just reported the Sahin is coming to Liverpool not Arsenal as Arsenal wanted a permanent deal {Ed052's Note - It's all come from Marca, who are not exactly reliable}

I think they are reliable for Madrid news are they not ed052? {Ed052's Note - They are ok, but not great. Ok, I will say how it all looks. He looked set for Liverpool, then when Song went, he was 99% off to Arsenal. The deal looked like it should be completed, but seems to be dragging. However, the longer it drags, it gets more unlikely, however, I still expect him to go to Arsenal. never the less, the Marca story came out today, which doesn't seem true, because Marca are not reliable. The Daily Mail have then republished the same story. However, there are also reports this morning, that you have all missed. Sahin having a medical at Arsenal according to some people. Hope that clears it all up - and the situation will all become clearee, in the coming hours and days for you all. }

There are also reports that he was due to have a medical on monday and didnt turn up confusing isnt it all lol

I know ill prolly get slated from some people on here and i realise that its never likely to happen, but wouldnt it be great if the following happened:-

LFC are obviously trying to get the clubs finances under control, Gerrard is still a good player but i think most of you would agree his best years are now behind him and he does suffer from injuries more than most, in 2009 he reportedly signed a 4 year deal at 140k a week and stated that he would retire at the end of it aged 33 (printed in telegraph ages ago).

Gerrard must realise that after his long career at Liverpool he will always be a legend and that an opportunity to continue in either a coaching or ambassador role would always be there for the future if he wanted it, LFC are looking at Dempsey, Fulham fined him a weeks wages for not playing at 25k, if LFC bought Dempsey and doubled his wage to 50k a week he might be happy for 3 years.

Stevie knows that he will prolly only play half the season any way due to injury/fitness, so wouldnt it be nice if he and FSG sat down and agreed in the interests of the club for him to take a 50k a week paycut so we could essentially take Dempsey on for free wages and lets be honest most of stevies loss would be tax anyways, they can both play in the hole behind the strikers and play 45 mins each, Stevie would still be on 90k a week and i doubt he desperatly needs the cash, and 90k a week not bad for a part time player winding down his career.

Its cloud cuckoo land i know, but wouldnt it be a wonderful gesture in the interests of the club from those to claim to hold it dearest.

Syrio

Well yes but there are players worse than gerrard who are on far bigger wages and the club are not in financial trouble. i see no really good reason for Steven to take a paycut.
derryred

Steve has been great, but we should cash in now. and before anyone chomps on about loyatly - he gets paid (very well) to do a job - when Emlyn Hughes got to a certian age the club said thank you and goodbye. Sentimentality has screwed our club for the last 20 years, and players with too much say are a bad thing, so I guess I am including Carra in that too. Save the wages. Blinkered pointless responses welcome.
REDditch

People can whine about Gerrard being over the hill all they like, he's still one of our best players and doesn't want to leave the club. Cashing in is not going to happen and the club would be mad to do so anyway.

Nothing to do with a blind sense of loyalty or admiration (nice Straw Man there by the way REDditch - anyone who disagrees with you must be blinkered. Clever), he's still good enough. Anyone who thinks otherwise should have their eyes tested.

- Something Red, keenly aware of the hypocrisy, so don't point it out -

Derryred i agree there are far worse players than Gerrard, who else is on more than Gerrard at LFC? i honestly didnt realise there was anyone, we are not in financial meltdown or anything i agree, but we are struggling to compete financially with other clubs, J. Henry says so himself ! you say no good reason Gerrard should take a cut, 140k a week to play maybe 1 game in 3? thats not a bad reason.

My post was intended to be ligh hearted and, not to be taken too seriously, but in fairness the points you make dont totally convince me that im bonkers either.

Article in Marca:

The Sahin saga still hasn't been put to rest, although a resolution appears to be around the corner. In the end the Turk's final destination seems to be Liverpool, where his agent, Reza Fazeli, travelled to meet the Anfield club's hierarchy and iron out the details of the deal.
On Monday Sahin's representative went to the Bernabéu firm in his conviction to take the Turk to Arsenal. Wenger had persuaded the player to move to the Emirates, but Madrid changed the course of events when it told the playmaker that the Gunners were unwilling to accept a loan deal and were pushing for a permanent transfer. Neither Madrid nor Sahin himself were happy with this arrangement.
Liverpool wants to make the move official on Thursday, provided it can tie up any loose ends with the player. Sahin could be joined in the Premier League by Ricardo Carvalho. According to reports from the BBC, the Portuguese centre-back is set to spend a season on loan at Queens Park Rangers.

Eds - Do you know what has happened to Krasic, as we had been heavily linked with him at one point around 8-10 weeks ago but nothing since.
Also, I am working in Finsbury Park area of London at the moment with a number of Arsenal fans and they have said today that they believe the deal to sign Sahin will not materialise now because Wenger will not pursue the deal because Real will not give Arsenal an option to buy.
Could be that we will get him yet !
Finally, the Agger situation still rumbles on but I think £15m plus A. Johnson is a good deal for Liverpool with Amorabietta as his replacement for around £8m thus allowing the other £7m to be added to the striker fund, which I would love to see being spent on Llorente. What chance of all of this happening in your opinions? YOZLFC {Ed019's Note - Joined Fenerbahce}

Hey Everyone,

Subject : Raheem Sterling to start v Hearts!

Interview by BR on LFC site :

Rodgers admitted: "There's a big possibility that Raheem will start. For a kid who is 17 years of age, he has been very good.

"Raheem is a player who has impressed me over the course of pre-season. He has got better and better every day.

"He understands his responsibility in the team and his team ethic is good. Plus when he gets the ball his quality has been excellent.

"Something I want to do over the years here is get young players with talent and personality into the group and into the team. He is certainly one who has shown up well."

What do you think guys? Should he get given the nod?

I personally think we should. We saw what Owen could do at 17 and what rooney can do at 17. I think he should get given his chance. I think the guy will take it. Saves us a few million aswell rather than wasting it on another Downing.

Jordan

I think he should be played - he's shown real maturity in his performances and the only way he's going to excel and further his development now is if he's given a chance to play with the first team in competitive performances. It is worth bearing in mind however that he is still only 17, and pushing him too much at such a young age might also be damaging. It's a fine line to balance on. Also, if any of you guys or the Eds could help shed some light for me, why hasn't Suso been given more chances with the first team? From what I've seen of him he is fantastic, and now he's almost 19. His performances for Spain U19s were remarkable and I just hope the lack of first team options won't make him consider moving elsewhere.

He couldnt be any worse than downing! even if he played in his slippers!

Should that not say "even if he played in Kippers"

ed002 is true that sahin has made another U-turn and is joining us? any new news about johnson and ramirez? i've heard that talks with southampton has stalled

Sahin will join Arsenal. No further speculation required. I wish people would stop with this. Similar with Ramirez. One thing I've learned about our club is that we aren't good with transfers, and I expect next to nothing for the rest of the window. {Ed052's Note - Correct}

Worst kick in I've ever seen at West Brom. The players were not tuned in, no intensity or focus. And taking shots in front of goal, no one, and i mean no one, scored.
BR has got the first XI warming up separate to the subs, who seem the most forlorn group of players I've seen outside of Goodison Park.
Can anyone remember if Kenny did this ? I seem to remember that everyone warmed up as a group, but my memory is rubbish.
Anyway, i don't like this us and them groups warming up. And the whole thing was compounded when our captain gives the ball away, then can't be arsed chasing back. You're captain for a reason Stevie lad - you usually lead by example.
Hope to see 100% improvement tonight.

Eds EPSN are reporting renewed interest in Daniel Sturridge and we are in "touching" distance of a deal. What do you make of this? Oh and it seems we are back in the picture for Sahin, I know you said we always had a chance, but have you heard anything new? Cheers.

Dan. {Ed019's Note - We have had interest in Sturridge since Torres left, I wouldn't be surprised if he came. Sahin is doing my head in}

23 Aug 2012 10:39:14
So it turns out Sahin IS coming to Liverpool then.
Arsenal wanted a permanent transfer and both Sahin and Real Madrid wanted a loan deal for the time being so it looks like Liverpool are set to get him on loan with final details set to be ironed out during today.
Arsenal look set to move for Yann M'Villa instead.

ChrisDee

Alan Dzagoev? Seems his Arsenal interest has waned, any chance we'll get him in if carrol gets the boot? 13m was the figure bandied around by the wengerboys.

Eds, can you clarify whether or not an approach was/is being made for Porto's, Christian Atsu? He was a rumour earlier in the month, responses are appreciated, thanks.

Sahin will be Liverpoolplayer in 24hrs.

Ofcourse he will be. And when he isn't, when will he be coming then? Probably with Ramirez, Johnson, Dempsey at 1159 on transfer deadline day.

23 Aug 2012 10:35:04
Can't wait for the match tonight, looking forward to seeing some of the youngsters play.
My prediction is Hearts 1-3 Liverpool, end to end stuff.
Coates with another brilliant goal to finish them off, got to love the optimism.
Shame Assaidi cant play though, i was looking forward to see what he can bring to the team.

Dont want to build anyones hopes up, but there has been an interesting twist in the Sahin saga today.

Apparently MARCA ( well respected Spanish paper ) are today reporting that Sahins agent was at Liverpool yesterday and that they believe that he is now joining LFC ?

I have no idea if this information is true or not, but as always, just keeping you informed and letting you know what Ive heard

Some of you may think I'm a little bit bonkers guys but with a weakened team I expect us to play well tonight, I posted a while back that after watching how well the reserves and youth team played in pre season I expected our so-called experienced pros to struggle. The reason being that the youth team and reserves have been trying to play football similar to Rodgers way for quite a while now due to the Barcelona influence and seemed to really enjoy it and understand it in pre-season. The older guys have been playing probably the worst football of their lives for the past 2-3 years now and it's going to be difficult for them to 'learn new tricks'. I really believe that our best chance of success this season will be if we integrate some of our promising youth team players, they have the spark we desperately need, especially Suso and Sterling. If these guys don't get a chance then we have no chance.
Jud.

Accordind to Marca:

"Sahin is Anfield-bound

Liverpool, which was the first club on the scene, has once again emerged as the most suitable option, as the player knows that Brendan Rodgers will guarantee him a place in the starting line-up. Sahin approved a switch to Anfield on Tuesday, leading his representative to undertake his whirlwind trip to complete the deal.

Liverpool wants to make the move official on Thursday, provided it can tie up any loose ends with the player."

I hope this saga is coming to it's end......

Who out of Lucas Allen Gerrard would have to make way for Sahin in the starting xI ?

Probably just rotate between the 4 of them ??

Gerrard I'd say.

Lucas all day everyday

I have know idea of this is legit or not but the sahin deal with arsenal has fallen through with arsene wenger looking for a permanent purchase after the loss of song. Real Madrid are not happy with this and are open to finalise a deal with Liverpool. Sahin is open to the deal as well. Marca reported this first (a source close to real Madrid). Check it out...hope it's true.

if spurs can get players like vertonghen, willian, adebayor, moutinho then why can't we? we can match their wages, i know living in london is desirable for footballers, but we're an elite club with better players {Ed019's Note - We need to cut our excessive wage bill}

Agger going nowhere, Carroll going nowhere. Evra is certainly not coming here and if u did believe that then you're a tool! QPR will have a better squad than us after the window shuts, and Everton also stealing ground as we all saw the other night! And as for Adam Johnson, the lad is quality and after missing out on the euros and Olympics, has a point to prove!

To eds/reds

With the young Dutch fella signing from nowhere, and the realism that CL football isn't with us/we don't have bottomless pit resources....would anyone take a "shot in the dark" as to other potential sub £10 mill striker targets....y'know, in the vein of Ba, Cisse, etc, there must be plenty of gambles out there, wasn't RVP around 2.5m and Henry 3.5m or whatever...

I'm not up on say...South American league or the African nations but was there talk of a sticker from Jaguars not long back....

Thanks in advance, also best wishes to Sheedy

"I would need to be a nutcase even to consider at this moment to let Carroll go out, unless there are other solutions for that."
Brendan Rodgers Quotes of the week, "I have never thought that I was going to lose Daniel. Secondly, he doesn't want to go."
Brendan Rodgers on Daniel Agger Quotes of the week, seems good enough for me when it comes from the horses mouth, simonpw

A further quote to add from BR, SORRY in advance for the following rant but im fed up of all the constant moaning and doom and gloom merchants. The seasons only just started, the transfer window is still open and wer 6 points of the top of the league wit a game in hand,Id take that come may,anyway here goes: "He's a talent - everyone knows that - and he played well in the last Scotland game.

"You never forecast anyone's career and all I can talk about is the here and now. At the minute he's working hard and looking to fight for a place.

"I actually tried to buy Charlie when I was manager of Reading so where these stories come from, I don't know."
another quote from BR,if you guys are constantly gonna listen to paper talk and not wait for the club or gaffer to announce it then no wonder the transfer window seems so long, I always say wel get who we get and I dont ever remember BR stating anywer who we wer targeting. He gave his list of targets to the only people who needed them and thats the way it should be. It will not be through any lack of effort or funds that we dont get them. You can bring a horse to water......etc. The only thing the club will no longer do is pay for someone they dont feel is not value for money. We are not going to announce how much we have to spend for the vultures to pick it off when we go calling, how naive would that be. Its time some of the so called supporters stopped constantly moaning and got behind the CLUB(notice the "CLUB" includes owners,management, squad,employees et al). Its about respect towards the club we love. Lfc has earned that over the years, thats why we support them. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but its the club that suffers from negativity and constant complaining. I have been a season ticket holder on the kop for 40years, I've laughed,cried,shouted,jumped for joy and moaned like everyone else but never have I been offensive to anyone involved with the club. Respect and ynwa go hand in hand, rant over simonpw

Beautiful.

You are a bigger man than I to respect the group of players who have been poor for us time and again eg. Downing.

A RETRACTION AND APOLOGY

Yesterday I posted regarding our Europa league match against Hearts.

My post contained a number of inaccuracies,which while pointed out in a rebust manner by a number of posters, I refused to admit I was wrong.

For this I am truely sorry.

I now realise Scotlands capital is Edinborough.
i now know that the people there are Scottish and not Scotch.
I now know that Brendan is Welsh and not Scottish.

I am sorry and gratefull to the number of posters who put me right.

Now humbled I shall sit down and watch Channel 5 tonite and cheer on this great club we all love.

Thankyou

Brendan is Northern Irish.

BR sounds as frustrated as the fans that we haven't been able to add to the squad.

Personally, I think if Borini was played down the middle instead of out wide and Suarez was played on one of the flanks but with freedom, we could solve some of our goals coring issues.

RedSG {Ed002's Note - Only six teams world-wide have spent more than Liverpool so far this window and three players have been added to the squad.}

Mirror is saying we're gonna sell some players to afford Mr Dempsey. We currently have 7.5 million to spend and we are hoping to sell Charlie Adam + Spearing or AC to get sufficient funds for a 9 mill swoop.

23 Aug 2012 09:28:24
Hi Eds. No rumours from any ITK or anything like that BUT some observations that have me still worried about our heirarchy at the club and our direction.

Firstly (and I will lay the blame for this firmly at the door of BR)...the whole AC situation has become an embarrassment. Why would any potential suitor make a sensible bid when neither BR nor the rest of the LFC heirarchy can be bothered to make a simple comment like "it will take a silly bid to move Andy away from us!" This would not deny his availability but would stop personic bids designed to upset the player and situation at LFC like the recent Newcastle one. Even a retort to Newcastle along the lines of "It's clear Newcastle couldn't afford Andy even if they were serious about wanting him back!" BUT WHAT DID WE GET? Nothing beyond the typical placatory nonsense that helps the press fill their column inches. This is utter drivel and actually very bad management.

Next, most of our potential targets have all become prolonged sagas that almost inevitably end with a high cost to us or (as seems to be the case more recently) the player being sold to an opponent. Now, what genius put the person Ayre in charge? He lacks any suitable legal knowledge of player contracts and has no real understanding of utilising the press to the benefit of LFC. As much as I don't doubt his love of Liverpool I certainly would have considered moving him on (at best I'd have kept him in his original position) when FSG decided to have a backroom clear out. Think about it...we are suddenly more aware of unhappy players AND players with unsustainable contracts also now refuse to move on knowing they have no chance of anyone ever giving them similarly favourable contracts. A good marketing director does not make a good man manager and his movement in that direction by FSG shows their complete lack of understanding of the world's most popular sport. So I firmly blame Ian Ayre for our inability to move forward with team rebuilding because he doesn't have the nous to be successful in this position. More importantly I blame the idiocy of FSG for not understanding the chap is not suitable for that position. This brings me to my final gripe.

FSG 'talk the talk' but they blatantly have no true ability to 'walk the walk'. They can't because they do not understand football. They understand sports that have a high dependency upon individual performance that is added together for a team reference (like baseball) but football is a sport that is blatantly more than the sum of its parts. Consequently their moneyball approach that makes decisions based upon a cost-benefit analysis cannot succeed. It's like metaphorically cooking a dish that is made up of ingredients that are statistically the third and fourth favourite ingredients. There is no guarantee that the resulting dish will work (it is more likely it will not) but FSG cannot understand that because they come from Wall Street where markets are decided by historically manipulable data streams that can be flavoured and impacted based upon a buyers' market and the purchases. Football is no such commodity. It has a large 'hinterland' of dependency that has to be allowed to flourish before success can be achieved. FSG are yet to understand this fully...and although I rather like Tom Werner I rather believe that he cannot really fulfil the requirements of his position because he lacks a sufficient understanding. Sorry John Henry but it's a bad appointment based upon your trust and not our need. All pundits would have told you to 'pull out all the stops' in order to appoint David Dein in that position. HE understands the needs of the game at all levels.

In truth I hope that most of my observations are born from frustration. A frustration about the team that I so dearly love. I'll simply have to wait and see seeking brief solace in the moments of success between the "more days like these" scores that Brendan referred to at the weekend. I'm not important in the scheme of things...just a fan like pretty much all of you BUT I am part of the complex hinterland of LFC and know enough to understand that nothing currently is done in the "Liverpool way"...FSG (if you are reading) the LIVERPOOL WAY is a method born from fans in the hinterland having silent faith that our club would be moved forward by the relevant powers that be. I currently have no such faith...what is worse is that I am not even sure you (FSG) are moving us sideways as every step feels more backwards at the moment.

Eds, I hope you publish this somewhere on the site. I know it's not really rumour or banter but it is genuine. I was kissed as a baby by the great Shanks but currently I feel like the mark of that has dwindled with the drivel of nonsense that has beset our beloved LFC. Please FSG prove me wrong!

Yeah, he based his decision on believing that Liverpool would beat West Brom. It doesn't matter that he's happy here, or that he is settled in the city with his family. We lost to West Brom so he probably wants to leave now.

I see Dempsey as crucial to BR's plan. I have to admit like a lot of LFC fans i suffered from EZZI-EZ syndrome. Meaning if the players name wasnt foreign i under-rated them. However Demspey has the strength and proven experience to be devastating for us. He only has a max of 4 years left at the top and a hunger to win something big. This also gives hope to the young strikers like Morgan coming through. Less pressure and light at the end of the tunnel! On top of Demspey I can only se one signing coming in, that being a wide player and probably AJ from the mancs! Unless of course Agger goes then i reckon we will look at Godin or Kjaer. After that i think we aare done till January!

So new twist... sahins agent met with liverpool officials and a transfer is expected to b completed today !!

Arsenal fan here
its hard to seperate truth from fiction this time of year,but the facts/fiction/rumours i have heard are that arsenal arnt happy about terms r.madrid are imposing and if arsenal arnt happy with them you wouldnt think lfc would be happy with then either.
1.pay his full wages + loan fee
2.no option to buy at end of loan
3.option to buy at end of loan. fee 14mil non negotiable
4.must commit to buy at end of loan
5. 2m non refundable deposit payed if option to buy is not exercised at end of loan

if some of these conditions are to be believed then basically you pay a lot of money to train him up for madrid then hand him back or you have to commit a lot of money to buy a player who may not actually turn out to be the player you thought he was

"Nuri Sahin's move to Arsenal has stalled as the Gunners want a permanent transfer rather than a loan. This proposal has been rejected by Real and it has now emerged that Sahin's agent is back in talks with Liverpool"
any truth in this eds.

23 Aug 2012 08:48:57
Despite rival Spanish papers saying a deal had been agreed which would take Real Madrid's Nuri Sahin to Arsenal on loan Marca, the paper closely connected with Real Madrid is today claiming that the player is now Anfield bound.

They claim that the saga 'still hasn't been put to rest' although a resolution is not far off and that Sahin's agent traveled to Anfield on Monday to iron out the details of the deal.

Marca state that the problem was Arsenal's insistence on the inclusion of an option to buy as Real Madrid only wanted to loan the player out with Mourinho still wanting to keep the player and only wanted to see him gain playing time over the coming season after a year of injuries. They also claim the player is not happy about the idea of a permanent move.

According to the paper Wenger, as the other papers were reporting, had convinced the player to join Arsenal but today Marca are claiming that due to Arsenal's reluctance to simply accept a loan only deal the move has fallen through.

The paper adds

Liverpool want to make the move official on Thursday, provided it can tie up any lose ends with the player. Liverpool, which was the first club on the scene, has once again emerged as the most suitable option, as the player knows that Brendan Rodgers will guarantee him a place in the starting line up.
I don't know what is going on with this transfer, or where the player is likely to end up. Other 'experts' have seemed sure it would be Arsenal as they could offer the player Champions League football however Arsenal's insistence on an option to buy has been a sticking point throughout the whole saga.

Less than 24 hours ago Marca claimed Sahin had his bags packed ready to go to London.

Danny.

He can still catch the flight to London...... Then catch the train to Liverpool.

At first the thought of Sturridge coming to LFC didn't fill me with joy but on contemplation he could actually become a real star. Keep him on the wing and we could see the worst of his traits but use him as t a Fowler/Owen type striker and he has all the necessary abilities - speed, finishing and most of all......greed. Un renowned for their generosity on the ball, the best strikers are often the greediest and Sturridge has this quality in spades.
Thoughts?

cozinoz

I agree. As a central striker (where he's happiest and better, as seen at his time at Bolton) I think he has a lot to offer.
IMO a front 3 of Walcott, Sturridge and Suarez would be pretty leathal with Assaidi, Borini and Sterling as back up. With also the possibility of Dempsey, Downing and Morgan also thrown into the mix I think that this could be pretty good.

23 Aug 2012 08:36:00
Ed's, do you think both LFC and MCFC are waiting till after the weekend before finalising any deals between the two? I have a feeling there maybe deals both ways close to being agreed...........

Mark the Selby Red {Ed002's Note - No.}

23 Aug 2012 08:21:55
""Rodgers Buy A Striker......ur forget even getting close to top 4 ,saurez not a natural goal scorer, carroll just a Target Man,..

We need to sort this out ASAP....

23 Aug 2012 08:21:06
Team for tomorrow, i reckon 4-3-3

Reina

Kelly Coates Agger Robinson

Spearing
Henderson Adam

Downing Carroll Sterling

with Adam Morgan getting a place on the bench!

Shelvey should play. Either Spearing or Adam, or both, are going to leave in the next week so more important to give Jonjo the game.

Kieran

Reina
Johnson Coates Agger Robinson

Lucas
Shelvey Allen

Borini Sterling
Carroll

23 Aug 2012 08:15:45
So this is what is going to happen
Adam + Spearing sold to raise funds for Dempsey
Still looking at additional midfielder to help goal threat: Sahin (still could happen), Herrera
Will only buy another striker if AC is sold which is now unlikely
Cheers

23 Aug 2012 08:14:14
We need a striker someone to score goals
When are guna stop buying midfield plsyers
And buy a striker we need

23 Aug 2012 08:14:08
Why shoudnt we sign klose one of the best striker and he is getting better and better will be cheap in terms of transfer fee but wages might be issue fot 1/2 year contract is worth he can score 30+ goals he is that good. He and suarez will tear any deffence in premier league as I sayed wages might be an issue but worth it for 1/2 year contract

Klose is not good striker he just scores flukely he is no better then borini and borini borini is twice a player compare to klose

Isn't he 35 now?

23 Aug 2012 07:27:28
Can we pause any rumours on aj and aggressive no deals will be looked at with city till after the game in Sunday. Robbie

23 Aug 2012 07:16:36
Eds what do you 3make of the papers saying Liverpool have no money left to sign players.Do you think it is true or is it a ploy do we don't get over charged on players as much? Would love your view on this.

Deanalfie {Ed002's Note - I have spent the last year explaining that there are financial constraints.}

22 Aug 2012 18:41:49
Hey ed, some one that will know the answer to this question ed002? I read somewhere that Suso cant play in el because he hasnt been on a professional contract for 2 years and because hes 18 is this wrong? Thankyou
Ruben {Ed002's Note - It is wrong.}

22 Aug 2012 18:20:19
Hi all, question for ed 002 if poss!
Would it not enter br head to maybe consider a 442 formation every now and again, this formation would give us enough midfield cover, then realistically we would require say Adam Johnson and a goal poacher in the 10m bracket? Surely good coaches adapt their teams to play different systems? {Ed002's Note - I would think Rodgers would adapt his formation based on availability of players and the opposition - so you are correct that sometimes he would likely go for a more traditional approach.}

22 Aug 2012 15:34:01
just seen the chelsea page and seen that ed002 has stopped answering questions. I really hope he doesnt do that on this page, no disrespect to the other eds but ed002 and ed001 are the two eds i press "ctrl and F" for. thanks for all the work you do ed its much appreciated!

15 million for Johnson

Seems pointless..

Assaidi's worth about £6m I reckon. He was only sold for half that because Heerenveen would have got nothing for him this time next year.

Kieran

Lucas - 20m ha ha ha {Ed052's Note - IKR, You are looking at £35+

Who actually cares?! This is about as pointless as our current EPL points total!

23 Aug 2012 07:06:53
I think tonight in the game against hearts we can expect borini and Carroll to have a chance to stake their claim for the central strikers position against city because it's clear Suarez can struggle to finish but it excellent coming in from the wing and setting up play although I do think he saves his best games for the big matches and hope that he starts firing on Sunday!
SM91

232 Million...wow !

23 Aug 2012 06:53:37
Can't believe the reaction to wanting Michael Owen back. After all, who wouldn't have left Liverpool for Madrid? Do you all hate Alonso?
I understand playing for the MANCS isn't ideal, but a free agent looking for a club, then the premier league champions approach you. Of course you'd snap their hands off.
If we signed him on a pay as you play deal, we simply can't lose. No outlay and if he is injured most of the season, we've lost nothing. However if he does chip in with 10 goals or so, that's one less than Suarez last season. Just saying we need a poacher so bad. We have nothing to lose on this guy!

Spasmith

Xabi is a different class to Owen altogether Xabi never wanted to leave Owen always put himself first,Xabi always talks of affection of his time with Liverpool how many times have you heard Owen mention Liverpool since he left? 2005 he missed out & claimed he wasn't bothered says it all....... Paisley's genius

Alonzo left for Real Madrid AFTER he had won the Champions League with us. Owen stated he was leaving Liverpool in order better his chances of winning the Champions League, which never happened... Why? ...Karma my friend, GOD DAMN KARMA. I don't want him anywhere NEAR my beloved Liverpool EVER again.

Stevie.

Plus I am sure when he joined Newcastle he made it quite clear he waited for us to re sign him but rafa didn't want him so he signed for the toon . Then as a free transfer the league champs moved in for him . Would you ? As a free I think it's worth the punt .

Jamesy

Hello Michael, is that you ? How are the horses ?

Aside from playing for the Mancs, he has fitness isssues, and is past his best.

I'd rather young Morgan was given the opportunity.

You obviously don't know your LFC history. Let's leave it there.

23 Aug 2012 06:44:04
Hey Eds,

With Brendan coming out and stating clearly that we are short of attacking options, do you think that Benayoun could be an option to come in and fill a squad position for the short term? I know that a player of his age isn't ideal, but looking at current availability of players, is it a possibility that we could look at bringing Yossi back?

I know Ed002 has expressed that Lisandro Lopez could be a possible option, and with Dempsey also seemingly in contention, we obviously have considered aging players for temporary solutions, and with Benayoun seemingly out of favor at Chelsea, I personally think it might be of interest to us to look at him as a last resort if nothing else comes off.

Thanks in advance.

Brian from Birmingham {Ed052's Note - no, I doubt Beny is an option}

23 Aug 2012 06:39:44
Heard on the grapevine that Liverpool supporters are going to dig deep in their pockets and collect money for buying players.
Also heard that some of the players who are big wages are going to take pay-cuts to start a transfer kitty.

Do you not think the fans pay enough a lot of people r struggling to get by, time for the millionaires to put their hands in their pockets if they want to anyway successful r just except we are never going to be any more than an average premier league team who can beat a top 4 team and go out the following wk and get beat at home to the bottom team in the league sick of everyone laughing at us sell up if you cant provide the success we need.r brian reade will have a part 2 to his book about the other owners.

23 Aug 2012 06:11:16
I agree with all the fans saying that Rogers is building his squad and it will take time. I have only one issue. Owners say we want to win league eventually but where are the players that win leagues. We had best team 08-09 season and we have lost our best players since then. I am totally with Liverpool way of finding talent and grooming them but right now we desperately need some big names.
Look at Barcelona, they have best playing 11 in world and most amazing talent coming frim youth ranks but still they need to buy players like Villa, Sanchez, Alba, Faberagas. I mean then also they won nothing last season. We cant compete with our current squad for CL position. Maybe a top 5-6 position. United finished 2nd last season and look they have gone out all guns blazing to prepare a team for competing for top spot. Chelsea were 6th and they spent to get back into top 4. I know you will say we spent last season but it was a mistake and you dont hang onto your mistakes you try to rectify them.

I have lot of faith in Rogers but he needs better players to compete with top teams. He has no Harry Potter magic stick to get performance out of these players.. Everyone knows we need strikers not striker but we are too slow in the market. Our scouting team sucks and one of the best coaches we had left due to lack of initiative shown to him.

Owners had two years till now i can understand that money is a problem in such economy. But for gods sake show us something to get hopeful and excited.
I know for sure this season will be better than last one but thats not good enough because this is Anfield.

What have we learnt in the first week of the new season?

1. Playing a style of holding possession and pressing high up the pitch is nothing new?
2. Pretending to play like Barcelona is impossible unless you have some of the best footballers to grace the planet like Iniesta, Messi and Xavi.
3. Suarez is a 20m pound striker because he is not clinical in his finishing. If he was then he would be a 40m pound striker, that we would not have been able to afford.
4. The Carroll transfer (not his fault by the way) is now becoming the worst piece of business in modern history. As Torres will start scoring for fun again and Chelsea's investment will look like good buying.
5. We cannot compete in the transfer market due to poor spending in the past 18 months (Carroll, Downing, Henderson, Adam etc.)
6. We are starting to get excited by speculative 3m pound buys. I for one will just be happy if they are worth their transfer fees!
7. The Gaffer needs a plan B! Holding possession and going sideways constantly is fine if you are winning. Does not really hurt sides that have pinched a lucky goal and then happy to counter on the break.

I really do hope that our performance against City this week is a lot more heartening as at this stage, battling Everton, Fulham, Newcastle and some other surprise packet of the year for also ran positions is devastating...

For heavens sake we,ve only played 1 game and there are always strange results at the start of the season , october usually when we start seeing things settle down in the league....steve

Yeah it's become a bit of a joke hasn't it.

ALL very very true

Suarez scored 101 goals in 166 games before we signed him. So we obviouls could afford the 'Clinical' suarez
Adam

23 Aug 2012 04:18:02
people will laugh at this post,im beting that fletcher scores more goals than suares.our fans need to growup and realise we can not attract big name players anymore,till we get champions league football.players that our great fans didn't want in the past, papiss cisse and nikica jelavic,and look at them now.both great players on cheap wages.fully support mr rodgers and im glad were not chasing these high profile players on massive wages.

Japanese media is reporting we have made a bid for keisuke honda. any truth in these stories? {Ed052's Note - I doubt it. Are they recycled from 2 years ago?}

Hi Ed's... Am I the only one who thinks we haven't really strengthened the team in the off season? The defence could of done with another center half (Michael Dawson type) Having seen Carra in Toronto & recently, he's past his best, A good midfielder to help out Stevie G. Allen not a bad signing, but not there yet & finally a good forward to help out Suarez, Borinin isnt the one..
I can see this being a long season where we will struggle to meet last years finish..

You americans know how to cheer us all up dont you.Tommy Irish Red

In real terms, you don't get higher quality starting CB's to join teams where they would be 3rd choice. We have Skrtel and Agger, who will start when fit. Why would a Dawson join as a back up? And what back do the team with pops of money have? Citeh have Toure backing up Kompany and Lescott, who else? Chelsea have Cahill, Luiz, and Terry. United just played Carrick as CB. Who do Arsenal have? Or Spurs? We have Coates, Carra and Kelly backing up Agger and Skrtel. We don't need another squad CB unless someone leaves.

And Allen is not a back up to Gerrard. Allen is a starter and already prem proven player that will sit deeper than Gerrard's natural position. Shelvey or Suso are more of a back up to Gerrard. And that is what we wanted Sahin for.

It really boggles me how people write off Borini before he even gets a chance. The boy is quality. Give him a chance.

Clint Dempsey is certain to sign for Liverpool this window.

Jermain Defoe is on the radar.

Adam Johnson is more than likely to join us.

Andy Carroll is set to stay due to lack of strikers.

Daniel Agger is definately staying at anfield.

Charlie Adam may leave, with stoke interested.

Clint Dempsey could happen, agreed on that one.

Spurs only have 2 strikers, Defoe and Adebayor so i doubt they'll be selling Defoe anytime soon so rule that one out.

Adam Johnson wont sign for Liverpool as he will not be guaranteed first team football.

Andy Carroll is not in Brendan Rodgers plans, if Newcastle offer £18m-£20m he'll leave, we need to sell him to buy a replacement.

Charlie Adam or Jay Spearing will either be sold or go out on loan for the season.

Agger will stay but Man-City are desperate to sign a centre half so if they make a bid of £22m-£25m it will still be turned away. With Skrtel commiting his future to us i'm sure Agger will sign a new deal if asked.

Rocky

Carroll will stay as Toon won't pay what you want.

Ed.. Have you's heard of a rumour,, I know am going to be slated to death for this but it's what Ive heard liverpool have but 10 mil for evra.. Personal terms agreed 90k aweek, was told 2 papers will have it in tomorrow... This can't be true can it? {Ed022's Note - It isn't true and it amazes me that I even need to clarify this.}

I am amazes that people actually believe what they read in the papers and are so gullible.
PLEASE NOTE; they lie to sell newspapers and they particularly have a negative spin on our club (except the Echo)

Quite possibly the most ridiculous rumour i have ever heard, crazy, ridiculous, insane, stupid beyond belief, you need to sort your life out.

Not even funny

You do know that the twitter account is a piss take.. This has reiterated to me that a lot of Liverpool fans these days are stupid! Back in the day we was known as one of the most football savvy fans! I come on here and it's beggars belief that people actually spout half the rubbish they do!

BillShanks

That was a sarcastic "agree".

Eds it amazes me even more that this post was allowed through. It's obviously non-sense and someone trying to be funny.

King kenny was a good manager we won league cup was in the final of fa cup and gave a very expensive chelsea side a good game we also gave the top four some shocks e.g man city along the way , the problem was we got caroll in the jan transfer window for too much money because if you remember time was running out and we had just sold torres to chelsea for too much money at the time caroll was main man for the geordies and kk grabbed him and unfortunately lost his job which is a message to any new managers- spend wisely and be patient and the right player will come along - e,g newcastle ,everton,tottenham no champions league but slowly getting classy players and i believe if kk had his time again he would of been more patient and not bowed down to fan pressure and a similar episode is now happening at Anfield and i believe BR has seen this learned from it and will be patient and will get it right i can sense it and ive got sixth sense

Mate problem is when KD was our manager everyone including ed1 saying we only needed striker to achieve top4 but now everyone is saying we need 3/4 players to achieve top4 even ed1 thinks we won't finish top4 this season which is a big suprise to me mate

Kenny is a money weaster

Hi Eds! Thanx for an interesting site with good intel on the dynamics of transfers and such. I've got a question for you all. I'm getting a wee bit worried about our goalscoring capabilities. I'm dreading that we will have another drought of net so to say this season as well. Suarez is more and more looking like a creator of chances than a gunslinger (funny enough with his nick El pistolero). Borini, I guess, Can not be trusted with making such a large inpact his first season with us, or could he?

My question simply put it, who will make those 15-20 goals per season that we need from a forward? {Ed022's Note - Borini if he's played in his actual position.}

Borini, Sturridge, Dempsey

Even though the lads never scored anywhere near that number of goals in a season before

Agree with Ed, I think BR needs to reassess the forward 3, Borini needs to play in the centre, Suarez is mobile enough to cut from either channel, he'd still have an option to shoot but if Borini is in the middle he's got a target to pass to or use as a decoy. Ged

Borini is actually a very good finisher, he's very good inside the 18 yard box just like Michael Owen was at Liverpool...
Adam Morgan is also a very good finisher and hopefully he gets a chance in the first team to show everyone what he can do.

Rocky

ed who do you think will be the biggest transfer this window in terms of money.not just in prem.im going with cavani.also where do you see muniain going.cheers DORSET RED {Ed022's Note - I'd say Hazard was a big one, but Cavani could be interesting also. Hulk is another to watch, and my personal choice would be Llorente, as he could end up at a few places as of yet, so it's more interesting.}

I thought the Javi martinez deal to munich was close to 40 million..so that would be the highest until now..

I saw a post about ramirez where one guy asked if he was good enough for lfc, and the ed reply was no... ?!? seriously, i love the eds for running this site, and doin a dmn good job, but this is just rubbish... gaston wouls certainly add something to our team, and give us options in attack.Gaston has nice passing, good on the ball, has a great shoot, exellent technique and he is fast.... sure he does not work very hard without the ball and is not the strongest, but that can be worked on... sorry for bashing one of the eds, but he obviously hasnt watch many games with ramirez...

Norwegian_Red {Ed022's Note - I agree with you. I personally think Ramirez is a fine player, and if he settles into the Premier League could be absolutely brilliant.}

Personally I think he is exactly what we need. If he ends up with Spurs or Southampton I'll be absolutely gutted. You won't find a better winger willing to come to the club right now.

He was decent in Serie A last year. Had a few good games. This summer all eyes were on him - the Olympics.

He looked uncomfortable with the ball, clumsy, selfish, and lazy.

Considering we look for our forwards to attempt to win the ball back in the oppositions half, and put a fairly decent shift in, I wouldn't be disappointed if we were to 'miss out' on him.

Eds, if we play 4-3-3, three of
Borini, Carroll, Assaidi, Suarez, Downing will start- that leaves two on the bench which is far from good enough. Do you see any more attacking opinions comng in before the deadline? Thanks.

Luke JFT96 {Ed029's Note - Yes, but I expect one to be a direct replacement for Carroll}

We also have Cole and Sterling. As the Ed said if one forward comes in it'll be a replacement for Carroll. Surely the only way we'll get two is if both Carroll and Cole leave.

Kieran {Ed052's Note - We could still get more forwards in without selling}

Please ORACLES otherwise known as EDs I'm not going to ask are we signing x,y or z but have any of you ORACLES got any concrete (and I know nothing is ever 100% as we found out with gulfi and Sahin) deals before the deadline? By the way you guys do a fantastic job becoz we're a tough lot too please! YNWA {Ed029's Note - I would expect at least one more player to sign, possibly two but as you say there are no guarantees}

Boot room blarney - we need a striker fast and we need a fast striker to keep up with suarez what about usain bolt could we give him a trial or can anyone think of any strikers we could get under 5 million or a free as we NEED one URGENTLY PLEASE

Usain Bolt is a ManU fan

T23Hero

How about me. I'm 37, have a bad back, carry more extra weight than Charlie Adam but will run me socks off (for the first 5 minutes anyway, before I cough my lungs up)

Jordan Rhoades maybe worth a punt? But then again, why waste the money when we could give Adam Morgan a go? Who knows hey.

Mike in Leeds

Bootroom blarney - Ok will give u a try out if bolt dont come even if you cough your guts up and have a bad back you might last 5 mins and score 2 goals but i will have to put morgan on after that ok- great well thats sorted champions league here we come

Hi ED love the site , its my ritual every day to read it.
Is it me or are all the others clubs making exciting transfers and liverpool getting left behind.
Chelsea:- oscar, hazard, Marin and rumored to be getting Cavani.
man U:- Kagawa, Van persie and some young exciting chilean.
Arsenal:- Podolski, Giroud, carzola and will beat us to SAHIN.
Who have we brought in Borini exciting but not the big signing we are expecting , Allen :- increase the midfield options but so many .
and linked with dempsey.
Where is the signing us fans are going to get excited about and put on our top for the season.
i trust FSG and rogers but getting a bit impatient now.
Sorry fo the long post.

I understand why many people including yourself are doubtful because of all these "major stars" signing for these other clubs, but you must remember they have all spent mega bucks on unproven (in the PL) players which has a high probability of backfiring, all it takes is for a cruncher of a tackle (worth the yellow card) on Hazard or Oscar to keep them out of them(and outside the box lol) and United have nought an injury prone striker who is 29 for 24m ( great business lol) and granted an excellent player in Kagawa but they're still relying on OAPs to jold the midfield together, Arsenal have bought 3 strikers, a most likely flop (Giroud), a flop at Bayern (podolski) and granted a good player in Cazorla.
We have signed 3 players
1. Borini, a young promising striker who cost us 10m (a steal IMO) and is a real poacher and works hard for the team
2. Allen, another young player who has Rodgers philosophy running through his bones at this stage, the boy is a class act, our best outfield player vs West Brom last week and hes only been here a few weeks.
3. Assaidi, 2.4m for a player with extremely good stats in the Eridivisie and he has a chance to be an exceptional, skillful pacey player for us, and if he doesnt come good big deal? 2.4m easily recouped on him, probably more!
So basically I think we have a chance of top 4 this year but the odds are a bit against us, but for the following year we look very promising! All we need is patience and keep the faith in BR!

Whats the difference with manu exciting young chilean and our exciting young morroccan.? nothing. be positive.

Agree totally, FSG need to spend big, or we can look forward to 8th place again,

Borini, Allen and Assaidi are 3 top players. We are still looking for a few more but so far we have done excellent business in the transfer market for around £25 mill.

Keep the faith

Tel 1949

Would you agree that we have made better signings than Exeter? That is because we are in a better position to do so. The three clubs stated are in the champions league...
rrrRedAlert

According to Eds these are not quality players. And they are coming from a weak league and they are unproven. Just like Hazard who he bangs on the assists. Rubbish player to compare with Borini. {Ed052's Note - Hazard has done well, but Chelsea have played two relegation contendors, and not too world class teams}

Although the window is still open I don't expect we are going to break the bank this summer - the players we have been linked with have been Rodegers old boys on a budget - loans or Dempsey - which is dead on the water now. I think we are in massive trouble mate - but I'd love to be wrong. We are going to get picked off on the counter all year. Mark my words. Rafa by Christmas. Gazman

How exactly can you call giroud and podolski flops and then bum up borini(who),assaidi(who),allen(who).podolski has somthing like 90 caps for germany and giroud was top goalscorer in france last year,remember also kd paid 35m for carrol who was injured and who also has a reputation of falling of bar stools and injuring himself,come out of your red bubble and dont be so bitter

Today's Marca seems to think Sahin's coming to us.

Kieran

WBA is a world class team. There is no weak team in PL. There is only your ability to beat them. And without players like Hazard you get what you are asking for. Borini and Allen are not world beaters. Hazard is. Our transfer dealings the last few years have been awful and with a new manager I had hoped for a world beater player. Seems also Rodgers thinks he manages a mid table team. Last year we wasted money on players you Eds were presenting them as top players, yet you are content with selling Carroll this year. Really we are the people who are changing their minds now and then? We knew Carroll didn't worth his 35 mil, we knew Mata is 10 times better than Downing, we knew Hendo was not even worth of the money we paid for and we also know Borini will never be a 20 goal per season player. Please wake up.

Adam Johnson is TOP class player when he wants to be'. Hes no 'hes got potential and might be good in a few years. He is an excellent player on form, techincally excellent, assists ,scores goals and can win games. He was a young lad at middlesborough that was and still is leaps and bounds ahead of downing. If' we sign him,IMO he will be our best season in the last few season. As always have faith'.

Melbourne'

The problem is that if he was as good as people are making him out to be he would be starting every week for city. i keep on hearing he is lazy and does not train hard. not what we need. we have afterall enough players performing below their potential

What about when he doesn't want to be a top class player or isn't in form, he is absolutely useless.

LFC, 4th highest spenders in the premier league and 6th highest spenders in the WORLD so far in this transfer window....
not that bad for a club that has on paper been losing a million pound a week for the last 2 years.
it's called perspective.

s.p

If we are sixth biggest spenders in the world i am really worried how are cash is being spent or over spent should i say

Is that net?

If we are losing 1 million a week there is some thing wrong and the owners need to get more involved

This isn't true {Ed002's Note - It is true at present.}

Fsg representative !

Thankyou ed002, as far as i'm aware only juventus and psg outside the premier league have spent more money than us in the transfer window up til this point.

and to the unnamed poster, hardly a fsg representative! just not a keyboard warrior spouting off anger about the club i love when we are obviously active as much as feasibly possible under the circumstances.

i posted this just to see how many press disagree before actually doing any research on here!

s.p

S p thats cos were so far behind and more needs to be spent to get near top 4.Plus KK fkd us up by wasting money

With man city looking to sell de Jong is there any chance of us bidding I know high possibly high wages in the region of 90k but I have always liked him as a CDM especially of Adam and spearing go have you heard anything on this?

23 Aug 2012 00:04:00
To any of the Eds, who know about him, what are the problems with Adam Johnson's attitude? {Ed001's Note - he doesn't train hard enough, he is lazy in training, preferring to be out on the lash rather than putting effort in.}

Sounds like he could strike up a good partnership with Carroll?

Evra on a three year deal 85k a week with a 4.5 million fee.

i think are transfer policy needs a real look at the money we have wasted over the years is embarassing and it continues to happen every season.. recently its been on potential we need proven talent .35 mil on ac 20 on hendo 15 0n allen 7mil on coates 10mil on borini etc.. ni im not bashing i think all of them WILL be quality.. but we cant wait really think we are gonna be left behind like we already are.. there is/was quality players out there for decent money at diff times cabaye, ben arfa,ba,adebayor,parker,sinclair,michu,bent,adam johnson,gary cahill,bale,walcott,moses, aaron lennon the list goes on the worst part is when ya here we were never interested in them lol say wat u want about there personalitys etc they all deliver the goods on the pitch.. we need a proven goalscorer asap suarez is amazing on the ball but lacks the finish. kenny and his backroom team deserved another season.. rant over..

phil ywna jf96

Few flaws...some of your list are frankly rubbish players and wouldn't improve us, others are prima donnas out for themselves, others were bought young or came through the ranks which is something we are hoping to do.

Lennon, Walcott are headless chickens, you don't know if our new winger is better yet, give it some time. Bale was so bad he was going to get loaned out before injuries forced Redknapp to keep him and play him on the wing and then the rest is history, he was truly awful before that.

It is also not worth listing a few names that have been successful, if you list the flops at every club who cost money you'd have a longer list. We can all be selective in our 'facts' but you have to have balance for your argument.

Thing is Ben Arfa, Cabaye, could have been flops, you know from hindsight now though they are good, so why dismiss our players after one game when hindsight may prove you wrong. There are no guarantees, it's about building a squad that works not plucking names out of the air.

Whi is a proven goalscorer? Torres was an average goalscorer, a 10-15 a season before he came to Liverpool (and reverted back to that when he left). Our most prolific goalscorers before that have cost nothing or a pittance, Owen, Fowler, Rush. Splashing out means nothing, look at chelsea, you would have thought spending £30mil on Shevchenko and £50mil on Torres would be bankers, obviously not so.

Even Barcelona fail more when they buy 'proven' talent, they have more success from the players promoted within who are drilled in their system for years.

It doesnt stop there,,the list goes on and on,20m on robbie keane,20m on aquaman,ect,ect,ect

Possibly THEE worst rumour i have ever seen by an apparent "agent ITK" claiming Liverpool have agreed terms with evra for 3 years for £85,000 a week- only price to be confirmed with united! now who believes all these ITK's on twitter?

M

Seems legit, Fergie is always open to selling to Liverpool.

Evra and suarez will be reunited. coolio XD

People need to stop complaining, Rodgers is building the squad the way he wants, and unfortunately for many of you impatient Liverpool fans it will take time. Whether we make anymore signings this summer or not I will still support Brendan and the whole of his team.
Yours sincerely
A TRUE FAN.

WOW major deja vu reading that post

lfc89

The way he wants ? is it the way ?

Totally agreed eventhough the rebuilding process would take over 5-6 years

Been rebuilding for mostve 22 years thats why people impatient, you great FAN you

Just out of curiosity, are QPR paying the wages that the stars they are signing are on? Like caralvarho( spelling) is on a 150k+. Are they paying it? It would mean the end of that club if they do!
AnfieldUSA

I think you fail to understand that QPR have NO money worries at all with their owner and could afford the wages if they deem they should.

Kopping a feel

Mate Mittal is one of the richest men in the world. He has more money then man city and chelsea. Google him QPR have big money.

22 Aug 2012 23:43:12
Just a bit of interesting news about two of our ex-'STARS'. Christian Poulsen has signed a two-year contract with Ajax and Milan Jovanovic received a red card against Limassol - he had a yellow, was substituted, and then started throwing bottles out the dug-out.
Dutchmal

What are Ajax DOING?

I hope BR does not become a victim of circumstance and by that I mean the owners were pissed off by the way we wasted money on transfers last season. This season they are not prepared to spend a great deal of money on new players and want rid of most of the bad buys and try to recoup some of that wasted money. Also they are planning to invest in
increasing the capacity at Anfield.

To be fair to the owners, they are quite entitled to be annoyed by the way we over spent on so many players.The owners lacked knowledge of football and the transfer market and trusted KK and commoli to be competent in the transfer market. which proved to be a big mistake because Commoli is useless and KK had been out of the game to long.

The owners might feel if they were to back BR in a similar way as Kenny and BR's transfers proved to be as bad as Kennys, then they and the club would look ridiculous, which would of course be disastrous. However, this is football and there are no guarantees when buying players, you just hope you have a good scouts, a manager who has a good eye for a player and a person who has the right tools when trying to negotiate in the transfer market.

BR will be a successful manager and I hope it's with us. I personally feel with the right backing he will become a legend, but he must have backing in all areas and that does mean in the transfer market and that means he should at least kept informed of every transaction in sales and purchasing of players. It is important the club try to avoid selling the clubs best players. It would not be fair on BR if any failings has been down to selling one or two of our best players and the club unable to add much needed quality to the squad.
If this comes to pass I hope the fans don't blame BR

£16m - for Carroll
£16m plus johnson - for Agger

= £32m to spend

Buy a CB for up to £10m - Godin perhaps replacing Agger (we would be sorted CB wise with Coates replacing Carragher at the end of the season)

leaving £22m

buy Lisandro Lopez for £13m

leaving £9m

buy Dempsey for £9m

D.Godin, A.johnson, L.Lopez and C.Dempsey all for £32m would sit well with me and 99% percent of the Liverpool Supporters.

We could play any formation we want as we would finally have enough (quality) options.

Attacking players.........
Front; Lopez, Borini

Wide; Suarez, Johnson, Downing, Assaidi, Cole.

Midfielders.......
Attacking; Dempsey, Gerrard, Shelvey

CM; Lucas, Allen, Henderson, Adam, Spearing

Center Backs......
Skrtel, Godin, Coates, Carragher, Kelly, Wilson.

Full Backs......
G.Johnson, Enrique, Robinson, Flanagan, McLaughlin.

I wouldnt let dagger go for any less than 20-25mil

lfc89

Yep thats my plan as well

Just Add Adam for 5M and Spearing for 3M and Cole for 2M

Get Wyanama from Celtic for 7M.
and Some Young unknow talent for 3M

Sorted for Defensive Mid also

Lucas/ Wyanama
Allen/ Henderson
Gerrard/ Dempsey.

Also Stiker would be Defoe for 8M and
J.Rhodes for 5M

Forwards:
Borini, Suazrez, Defoe, Rhodes

Wide:
Downing, Johnson, Assadi, Steling

At the back as you said.

But losing agger will not go well with 100% of the supporters!
Redmanluka

Looking good untill Adam and Spearing then all went pearshaped

Hi Eds - rumor I heard not too long ago is that Mourinho is actually trying hard to convince Sahin to come come to liverpool? nice example of why close relationships are a good thing haha

I heard this morning that the great one prefers liverpool over arsenal and has we have offered real madrid a better deal

RedAmerican

He's been given the go ahead from mourinho to sign for arsenal mate.

Cuchulainn's Hounds

He has said arsenal will be good for sahin

eds is this true about the 15miil plus adam johnson coming the other way and if not do you believe there will be any more transfers {Ed001's Note - for what?}

I believe they're on about a deal for Agger from Man City

They pay us 15m to rid that useless player out of City, they can keep him and the money. I wouldn't accept a swap of AJ for Spearing but many deluded fans would.

Ben

Agger i think ed DORSETRED

Ed's or people could one of you's tell us when we could be free of debt as a club even without champion's league football , my understanding of fsg buying us was there was only a little bit of debt left for them to pay .

Is are revenue not covering the bill's or players wage's ?

Where is the standard charter money an warrior kit money do we get that this year or next ( kit money ) ?

What happened to that le brone money ?

How much debt did we actually owe ?

Sorry for all the question's , am thinking if we sit tight an let fsg sort the book's out for at the most 2 more season's would we be okay or would we still be in debt .

LB {Ed001's Note - we are losing money, so we won't be clear of debt without changes being made.
No it is not covering the bills and players' wages.
We get that over the length of the contract.
The what money?
I can't remember off the top of my head, the accounts are publicly available for you to read though.}

Lebron James (NBA star) became an investor in LFC in 2011 but not sure how much. Think that is what he/she is referring to? Not sure if the money went direct to the club or FSG.

Iggypop

Thank's ed1 for taking the time to answer .
