Aqua, really? Shevchenko was one of the best finishers in the world. premiership, different story. There are world class Brits that wouldn't last in certain foreign leagues/ All depends on whether the style of play suits the leagues and country, Aquilani can be world class elsewhere but not in the premiership Just because Aquilani has had a few good games, pre season, against the equivalent of dagenham and redbridge, grays, TNS, Newport County etc, does not mean he will be good in the premiership. Ed 002 seems to know what he 's talking about regarding transfer. No agent IN THE WORLD will say about thier player that they are about to be transferred until it's done.

We will sign more, 1, 2, 3, 4 who cares, KK knows what the team needs and will act accordingly.

Keep the faith in the LFC system

Hi ed,

Just wondering do you know why Agger or Meireles wern't playing?Leaving?Injuries?

Also just thought i'd mention that although i know its only one game, but henderson looked a class act, he is much more powerful then he looks in photos, and hopefully add some strength to the centre because in my opinion as much as i love lucas, this has been are weak point in recent years as we struggle against 'bullying' midfields, and henderson looks a strong lad along with charlie.

i fancy us big time and im the most reserved fansuarez n gerard (forget all the hes finished crap its vomit lies) , . liverpool will smash it nxt season , every midfielder is capable of switching into the others position at any time which will make man marking a joke for other sides or go conventional 442 or 352 , gr8

From what I saw on the pitch today, Liverpool are still going to miss that bit of 'flair' unless they sign someone in the Mata vein. Downing looks good and it makes sense why Kenny signed him, but the other player that produced some skill was Aqua, who is leaving? Doh bad move. Carroll needs a kick up the backside too.

Just read this quote on sly sports regarding today's game.

But before I post it I would just like to say to all the trolling fans from other clubs who are clearly posting on Liverpool's Banter page:

"Jog on kitties"

Now I have that off my chest, read between the lines of what KK said, it made me lol and hopefully should stop all the moaning

"As I say, it is pre-season and it's to get players fit and get rid of their mistakes - but I certainly think we've got a few mistakes to get rid of after today."

sceanario : its october, freezing cold, against, say bolton we are 1-0 down away from home - is aqualani going to change a game and score 15 goals from mid per season or is he a luxuary pretty passing player - i would go for the later - yes he played well in asia, but england in the winter is different - i say release him - lets save the wages and get a combative high scoring player

Hi eds Did any of you see the game vs hull city? Carroll looked rubbish, in fact he has looked sh*te in every pre season game. He seems slow and cumbersome. Not sure what you make of him but i would be get concerned, as Suarez will be missing first couple of weeks of the start ofthe epl due to his exertions at the cola America. Carroll I still have serious doubts on, leaving kuyt and agog who is not good enough period. I for one think we need another quality striker because if Suarez gets injured, we are f*cked Sorry for the language but when u see the like of man city getting ready to bid for aguero, arsenal now looking to bid for benzene, on paper, all the top four teams have a better attaching lineup than liverpool. Suarez is awesome, Carroll still dont think is up to the task, kuyt is a good Player bu not one that is gona have decences scared and as for ngog..... Anyway eds, are we def not looking to bring in another forward? After today's defeat to hull, I think we def do

Keep up the good work eds

Red Legend YNWA {Ed009's Note - There is, I suppose, a chance of a striker cum winger, but only if we shift all the deadwood and make deals for higher priority positions, such as sorting out some questionable defensive frailties.}

23 Jul 2011 21:05:19
hey Liverpool fans, as im a big 1 myself I posted a while back that we are in big need of quality central defenders and a left back so the reality is we can still make believe that skirtle, agger, wilson, greek are real weapons 4 liverpool no matter what the rest of the team does these guys are just liabilities. Especially SKIRTLE cause if any of you guys remember seeing him playing against Newcastle and West Ham away last season he was the last defender against Carlton Cole and he just blew him away. I play small time football with local clubs and if i was the last defender i would take him out.

people need to stop moaning about carroll, that's for damn sure, he is a great headache for KK to have, he was wonderful for newcastle, causing teams including us nothing but problems, if newcastle united can get the best out of him with an person like joey barton in their side we can CERTAINLY make andy carroll a top TOP player, stop all the pathetic whinging, his transfer fee was NOT his fault, we were desperate and newcastle KNEW we had about 40 million to blow right there and then, it was obvious business for mike ashley to go if you want him you can give us most of your torres money or forget it Carroll will be great

23 Jul 2011 20:41:45
Eds or macca is it true if we make the champions league this year then we will be going for the aguero/ sanchez type players next summer? {Ed002's Note - It will not be so clear cut as that but there is clearly a plan going forward to get in to a cycle of managed improvement to the squad - but it will need to be driven by the income that the club makes.}

23 Jul 2011 20:30:49
LFC definetely needs a playmaker behind Carrol. With Downing on the left and a RW all the passes come in the box from left/right. If we had a playmaker behind the striker the game would evently spred across giving the strikers more chances.

Todays game with Hull was a defeat. We all know the results from friently games are not important. On the other hand, when we win a game the players as well as the fans get a gread satisfaction and confidence about their team and players. Also the new signings would be a lot more happy with a win concidering the negative romours posted on this side now and again.

23 Jul 2011 20:16:20
Hi ed we cant worry too much over the result today KK is geling new players into his idea on how the game should be played ie pass move attack keep ball cause Rafa Roy and Houllier played defense game so existing players even have to learn his way , i know people will say he has been there for last 4 months of season but just tried to steady the ship when he came in didnt mess too much with how they played so now its all go and will take maybe 5-10 games to get his system up and running so better off look poor now than a bad start to season and if todays result was in carlingcup people be on sayin its no loss and great to give younger lads run so imo its nothin to worry about.Red2Toe

Well looking at the 2 teams that played today,

Kelly Carra Ayala Robo
Coady Poulsen
Cole Aqua Maxi
Ngog

Flanno Greek Wilson Insua
Adam Spearing
Kuyt Henderson Downing
Carroll

It seems to me the main problem was that neither team was made up of quality defenders (Carra aside). Agger Skrtel Johnson were all missing. This problem needs adressing because the young players need time to develop and learn (maybe on loan).

First half I kinda expected that team to go out there and suck. The quality of that team is awful and lets be honest most of them need to and will leave. There was a feeling that the damage done in this half would make the rest of the match an uphill battle (Hull had confidence from this).

The second half was an improvement hardly giving hull a chance and creating chances. KK needs to give this team full games to let them bed in. I feel that if this team played the full 90mins with a better back 4 (Johnson Carra Agger ??) we would have won with no problems. Adding onto this Lucas instead of Spearing, Gerrard instead of Henderson and Suarez instead of Kuyt we have a lethal team.

As for Aqua, he got shoved off the ball far too easy , and you can clearly see he isnt up for the physical battle of English football. If you look every time he lost it we were on the back foot

John Wigan

well said john i said this last week when everybody was raving about him in asia lol i got slated. He aint up for the english game how many top prem teams are after him?lets just write this one off we are never going to get decent money for him.

Sydney, you might as well go back to the start of the season if your adding the the Christmas period to your argument re form table, then we obviously finished 6th duck. That way you really can say you were top of the form table. I was on about since the turn of the year ala Jan, and you know it . Just goes to prove thank the Lord that being from Preston i never even thought of being a Scum fan when i was a kid or i'd end up like a sad f*** like you lad. Jonson6

A loss in pre season and everyone goes mental I think I'll avoid this site on the inevitable day we actually lose a game that's worth something.

Those slating Carroll, Henderson etc just have to accept that yes they were expensive but they're LFC players now and that can't change. I trust Kenny's judgement more than any impatient fans and he'll play all his signings regularly so learn to deal with it. Hopefully they'll justify their high price tags in due course but for now give them a little time to gel in unimportant games like today.

Masssive FLOP Andy Carroll is bad movement, no technical skills, new striker pls.
As for the defence, I don't even know where to start.
Carra- not good enough anymore. Pls carra brigade take note. we need top center haves that can defend and score on set pieces as well.
Krigiakos- rubbish, slower than a snail and a penalty waiting to happen.
Insua - not LFC quality
Wilson - not LFC Quality
degen - rubbish

Ok lets get things straight here do any of you buffoons realise how hard the players train during pre season 3 sometimes 4 sessions a day running gym football stretching all sorts and they were probably training hard yesterday, yes today was a poor performance but i would imagine the players are building fitness pre season is hard have any of you moaners ever played football it doesnt sound like it to me, so lets get real here lads lay off with the moaning its a joke lets get in a class centre back and get behind our team and "SUPPORT"

We had some terrible pre-seasons during the 70's and 80's................

These games are purely about building up fitness, sharpness and getting to know your new team mates. The defense is always the last thing to gel after a break so I'm not worried in the slightest.

i will not stop saying it, kk has bought players that dont have sell-on values. your analysis/argument that lfc is buying players that have great sell-on values is flawed. lfc will not be able to sell carroll, downing, henderson half of the amount they paid for them. this is a model based on loss-making. lets look at carroll, kk paid 35m for less than average player, i dont rate him at all (i feel ngog is better, at least ngog offers good movement and better technical skills). who are we going to sell him to if he fails to perform, considering the type of money kk paid for him. there are few clubs in world football that can pay such a fee for a player( only exceptionally talented player not carroll type). lfc is stuck with him and others like henderson and downing . am so sorry for being so objective and blunt but this needs to be told. if the team fails to hit the set height next season, the buck stops and stucks with kk. he laid his bed and he must definitely lie on it. nobody can blame the owners for trusting the manager with funds. fyi, newcastle will not buy carroll anything above 10m. believe me.

We really need to chill out over this result. I know its poor but and the team should have beaten hull. We've also just travelled half way round the world and back, China to Malaysia isn't exactly a ferry ride to Ireland either. Also to say a young talent who kept an England international so quiet he was taken off in Theo Walcot is more then a poor do. Saying that about Jack Robinson is a pure f***in piss take. Speechless for once. We're no where near at full strength yet, their be at least 2 maybe 3 new face's coming in still so chill. Terrible result ? Yer, end of the world ? No where near, but cant belive that the second half of last season to some f***in narrow minded fans seem like a fluke for some reason now. Second only to Chelsea in the form table is no fluke. That'll be nowhere near the team what the first team will start against Sunderland on the opening day. Jonson6

eds - was just wondering a few things
1- you's have mentioned that we may keep miereles for 6 months until he gets things sorted out ? is there a problem with him settling ?

2 - an ed posted that deggen is out of contract ? is this the case i thought he had a year left.

thanks
farneyboy {Ed002's Note - (1) I don't know about 6 months but Meireles is pissed off due to some verbal agreements that were made and not kept. He has permission to talk to other clubs but I guess the situation could be redolved. (2) Degen has a year left. That Ed was trying out our new time machine at the time. I can confirm now, that in a years time Degen's contrcat will have expired.}

23 Jul 2011 18:46:58
After todays display the new season looks very bleak for lfc. Defence was woeful and unless massive changes are made lfc and kk will be fighting to finish in european qualifing position next season. Need to buy top quality defenders and wingers in the mode of honda to have any chance of success. Theres still time but action is needed now before its another dissapointing season for the club.

23 Jul 2011 18:46:52
My weekly Match day report for this week is a very grim one; a 3-0 loss to Hull was capped by poor performances from Kelly and a less than inspirational impression from Downing or Henderson.

First half was poor as we went in at a 2-0 deficit; Kelly could be acounted for both of the goals and that is why he wins my flop of match because he was at fault for the goals.

In the first half once again Aquaman is the only one to walk with some credibility which is unfortunate seeing as he looks bound for fiorentina, he is my man of the match for the first half team.

The second half was slightly better but not much, Adam had the best oppertunity to score but it just didn't go in, another oppertunity was created from a Downing cross to a Carroll header which was parried for the incoming Flano to header high, wide and not very handsome in the final shot of the match. I'd say the man of the match would have been Adam or Carroll; Andy dramtically increased as a player since Malaysia and it was a different guy. Kuyt tried hard as usual but was ineffective. I'd say Kyriakos was the worst player as he was out of position 90% of the time and it just a useless lump IMO.

The Match was a poor one, especially when going through hours of effort trying to find a stream site to realise I could have watched via LFC.com, the qualtiy was poor and the whole of the second half I spent squinting to tell between big andy and the greek lol

See you again for Thursdays tip to Turkey for the Galatasaray game, maybe Skrtle will be fit according to SSN

The Next ;)

RegardingAqua has looked good for 45 mins again today but overall disappointing performance.Cole , Robinson, and Coady also done o.k. but thats it in my eyes.
-------------------------------------
Cole did ok? What game were u watching, because it certainly wasn't the Hull game because Cole was absolute garbage

We really need to get shot of the deadwood at the club, Cole, N'gog and Wilson are so poor that even Poulsen looks a good player in comparison

I know its only a pre season friendly and the result isn't important, but there were some really embarrising moments where Hull made us look like the Championship team.

Get a grip people, it was a friendly. players need time to gel and get there match fitness up.Carroll still isnt a 100%, it was downings first game, henderson was not bought to be an immediate successful player, N gog hopefully wont be at the club neither will Poulsen, weve just got back from a tour of asia, players are jet lagged and their body clocks will just be gettin back to normal. The one thing we dont need at LFC is negativity rightnow or in the near future, m because weve had enough of that in the past to last the club a lifetime KK is building a future title winning side, now get behind him and the team and be patient. We should not be to fussed about the loss vs Hull, we were crap but this was a pre-season friendly.

Downing looked very sharp and surprisingly Henderson was played behind Carroll as most expect him to be used on the RW.

We need to offload some players. I reckon if we can remove Aquilani of our wage bill (he apparently earns 70k a week) we will see a CB and LB arrive. Insua (not good enough) and Aurelio (injury prone)cannot be relied on. Agger (injury prone) and Soto (why was he given an extra year on his contract?) are also not good signs for our defence in a season where finishing no less than 4th is a MUST. Our midfield is pretty much complete. I would like to see a natural RW added though. It is our defence that is the real concern.

23 Jul 2011 18:33:01
The best thing to come from this result today is proof we need a commanding new CB and an energetic left back. It is clear that the greek, wilson are liabilities.

If the club want to leave this and as Macca says wait until Jan then we will be waiting another season to challenge top four.

What is also worrying is that Johnson, Gerrard, Reina & Skrtel have had no pre-season action yet.

Aquilini & Cole were awful today. Aqua struggles when players close him down.

Just read kenny's comments on todays game against Hull Ed.

Glad to say he by looks of it really is disappointing. We all should read his comments those show that he is on Job and was not happy with what he saw.

he is a winner.Whether there was hull today or barca but fact is he does not like loosing.

Thrashed by Hull City (United reserves). Brady tearing Kelly to shreds. Carroll, Henderson, Downing, Carragher & Adam woeful. Gerrard still crocked and Suarez who is already angling for a move to Barcelona.

You will be lucky to finish mid-table next season.

Having just seen the Liverpool result from today, the alarm bells have started ringing, and ringing loud. Remember Rafas' last season in charge? Look at those pre season results. They were not good at all. The team were leaking goals against a bunch of nobodies, and this pre season they seem to be doing it again. Don't tell me that it's only pre season and it's all about fitness., I disagree. It should be about how you are going to start the season, putting into practice what you have been doing on the training ground.
Now think about who beat us today. 3-0
I am afraid poor old Carras' best days are behind him, Aggers is injury prone, Skrtel is a penelty waiting to happen and Johnson, well, I like my defenders to defend better than they can attack. He doesn't fit the bill. Kelly, I have great hope for.
Until Kenny gets in a back four that can keep clean sheets against the likes of Hull then I'm sorry, as long as I've got a hole in my proverbial we will not win a bean.
Think about it, would any of our competetors lost 3-0 today?
If you were a defender, would you at anytime want to lose 3-0. Even if it is pre season
One more thing, look at at our last two games of the season, and then at how our pre season has started.
Has the initial magic and wonder of Kenny worn off?
I hope not, we need to challenge this season.

Stu the Red.

Today, my hopes of seeing Lfc lift the Premier League title have faded if not vanished after the very very poor performance of the team overall. I agree the likes of Suarez, Gerard, Reina were not there and even though Downing, Adam and Henderson need some time to gel into the team, the display I saw today against Hull or should I say the thrashing, was absolutely poor to say the least. 3 goals conceded and none scored. that's the reality. Guess our defense was awful.absolutely need a LB and a CB plus a striker coz I'm left hungry with Caroll upfront.nothing till yet from him.

Lads and ladies you need to relax, it was a friendly, hanvt any of you played a friendly before? It's about making mistakes and learning from them. As for slating our own players, we shud get behind them no matter how we feel about them. I personally think that carrol will be emmense this season, he will free up so much space for Suarez and co, and it doesn't matter how much we paid for him or anyone else we need to get behind them and trust kk. (Ed what do you think? Do you reakon carrol will have a good season?) cheers paynee

we Liverpool fans should get some flak from our opposing fans in some days ahead due to the result today.
We were inept to say the least and I have already read few media headlines in leading newspaper stating that kenny's 80M worth of talent were poor but its ok its there time.

Actually for us this could prove blessing in disguise as this loss will surely point out gaps to management and who to let go.

To players this will be warning as to more is needed.

To some fans who were saying as if we were gona do treble this season and kenny has some magic wand gets them back on earth.

hard work and faith is needed. Players can do the hard work I will serve the faith but not the blind one.

Chipkin9 (Eire), mate, I feel your pain. There are supporters like me and you who expect Liverpool Football Club to beat Hull City, even with Poulsen Or maybe score a cheeky goal perhaps? Then there are fellow reds who look at the pre-season as an experiment of sorts. Including fitness, tactical and team blend issues. I'm over it now, let's move on to Galatasaray. See how we do in Turkey eh? Kenny and Clarke have hopefully had a strong word with a few players, who in my opinion let themselves down today. Yes guys, it was a friendly...but that performance really brought back horrible memories of Roy's regime. This is who I think has no future at the club - Poulsen, N'Gog, Insua, Wilson(got turned constantly by the Hull City targetman(Adebola sp) ffs), Degen, El Zar. Maxi, Cole, Kyrgiakos and Spearing squad members/depth - no more.

What did you guys think of the game, eds? I think we need Cissokho, another winger, Centre back(Dann) and without a doubt, a striker. Lee YNWA

I think people are entitled to be a little frustrated as long as they keep the fact that it was a pre season friendly in mind. We all get a little frustrated when it's summer and we're missing regular football, but please don't expect us to perform to a particularly high standard just yet. We played a lot of different players today some of which want to leave, some are inexperienced and others well simply not good enough.

There is a long way to go yet and a lot of the players may not still be with us, or certainly be more fringe players then regulars so please don't panic. Then again schools are out so what do we expect.

Im glad we were poor today, I was starting to fear that everyone was getting their hopes up too much. Hopefully Kenny and co will see this and wake up, maybe we are just waiting for certain players to arrive back at their clubs before we sign a few more players. Dead wood needs to go we know who they are and they need to be replaced asap. I mean its Hull for gods sake, friendly or not

With Downing being a genuine winger and NOT a striker who would fit into a 3 prong attack liverpool will play a very fluent 4-4-2 this season. With Carroll as a target man and Suarez Playing off him... Somewhat like sunderlands Quin and phillips.
Downing will play on the left wing with maxi as cover. Adam will be the creative playmaker with Aquilani as cover. Lus will be in the holding role with Gerrard as a back up. Gerrards starting role will be right wing as he can provide quality crosses. (Pace isn't everything.) Henderson will cover for him in this position.

This is the only working logical explanation to the number of midfielders we have in the squad.
Any other explanation would show the number of midfielders as excessive.

Eds, even when i do not include Meireles or Aquilani, I really can't assume who will start next season amongst Gerrard, Adam, Henderson, Lucas and Downing, who gets the final spot Lucas or Henderson? {Ed002's Note - I am sorry, I don't comment on team line ups but don't forget Shelver, Spearing et all. And don't forget that the international transfer window is not yet half way through.}

What's going to happen to us next season when Suarez gets injured? Dh

23 Jul 2011 17:29:02
We lose one friendly and all of a sudden we're crap. Would some of you losers get real? Friendlies are there to spot mistakes in the team and to work on them. Clearly we are not the perfect TEAM yet and things should and will get better. One more thing, do you realy expect a team with poulsen in it to win any game?

eds isnt it amazing how 2 years ago a hell of a lot of liverpool fans wanted lucas out of the club now they are crying to get him back from the copa america. some half assed supporters use this sight {Ed002's Note - You are right, even six months ago Lucas was a regular Figure of Hate on the forums.}

Omg Ed002 is so irritating with her sarcasm ...anyways imo ngog, cole, aqua, meireles and rodriguez will all be sold if buyers can be found

hi, im a hull city supporter and i dont see it as we just beaten LIVERPOOL. anyone with half a brain can work out its pre season and your team isnt the full first team, also no way as a player you want to get injured before the season starts in a freandly. im just glad that some of our pre season signings are looking not bad but the acid test IS WHEN THE SEASON STARTS. then you can judge your team...
good luck with the coming season lads... ps downing will be a good signing mark my words.. NORM

23 Jul 2011 17:04:04
We can put today's result down to teething issues. However, i do think we need a couple of players with a similar ability to Suarez yet for their respective positions. We need that "class" and "wow factor" in the team which from what i have seen so far, only Suarez has (with the exception of the injured Stevie G). Not having a dig at the guy but Carroll is not ready...Yet.

23 Jul 2011 17:18:29
this rumour was clearly made up simply, because Agger wasn't involved today so that to some people automatically means he is leaving. Agger is our best defender when fit

23 Jul 2011 17:17:39
Conceeded 9 in 3 games....concerning indeed.

I feel we lack a strategic structure, and Kenny's just telling the lads "Go out and do as we do in training".

Because there is no way we can be "leaking" that much in defense (irrelevant of who's across the back), especially against poor opposition. If there was a foundation or defensive philosophy there...we'd be strong in defense no matter who plays. Look at Hull for example

I don't think KK has defensive philosophy or tactic abilities Tbh. Probably due to a "forwards brain".

I'm being pedantic, I know.

Henderson-Impressed
Downing-Same
Carroll-Worked a little harder

I think we miss Lucas breaking up the play and getting his foot in....we don't have anyone else that likes to get stuck in like that, and it's been/is a major problem for us

After that performance today, i really hope we have some defenders in mind. That was a total shambles, Robinson, Wilson, Soto, Ayala should never wear the shirt again. Kelly and Flanagan need more time as does Insua. Poulsen, N'gog and Maxi should go. We need to keep Aquilani, Cole needs a longer run, not that impressed with Henderson or Adam, but early days. Downing and Caroll looked a handful, and Kuyt well you know what you get with Kuyt. Not good Kenny, I know we have Pepe, Agger/Skrtel, Lucas, Gerrard & Suarez to come back, but the lack of cohesion was glaring at the back, even Carra couldnt prevent that first half performance. {Ed009's Note - As soon as I read that a 17 year old with incredible talent should never wear our shirt again I stopped reading. Horrific analysis and that you give Cole more patience is a farce. I have no doubt that last week you were posting claiming that he should be first choice left back next season.}

23 Jul 2011 17:02:32
Point taken end of. Papa G, always a good read mate and agree we definatly should keep Raul M. Its not just about having strong starting 11. Its about about having a bench where the we've got a player like Raul if not starting can come off the bench and make something happen. Re Maxi as well although he's classed as a wide player, he's not the type to beat a man then whip it in with his left peg or right if he ever plays on that side. To me i really think his strength is his the runs he makes to open space up for others, particulaly the diagonals ones the way he's able to receive the ball and look after it and because of that he fits into our pass and move style thats been brought back by K.K. I also think that although he did look a bit rusty at times in the Far East he was still a goal threat, i think that them 7 goals in 3 games have given him confidence that he really feels a real part of the team/squad and not a bit part player. We know what we're gonna get from Downing, faster then credit for, no body really mentions how good he is with his right peg as well. If he ever does play on the right and have a chance to cross on it their'll be no having to having to cut back onto his left, he'll stick it in with quality, so their'll be stacks of goals on offer for not just Big Andy but the likes of Suarez, Maxi and Kuyt to get on the end of. At least they wont have to lose their marker's 5 times while the winger try's getting on his favourite dont with Downing which i'm sure Big Andy will particulaly enjoy that i'm sure. Henderson's interesting, i rate him very highly and got a few more tricks up his sleeve then some of us realise. Look at the quick feet to skin Ramires and put a Steven Gerrard type cross in for Gyan i think to score. But i know some of us have got him down for the right hand side, i'm sure when Luis and Andy start firing that Kuyt aint wanna give is spot up in the team be it up front or on the right hand side. I've a feeling Henderson Kuyt will start on the right once Suarez is back.but i do belive Henderson will end the season in the centre of the park as his prime spot, i really do belive we've got a rare talent thats just needs his finishing school here and be a massive player for us, if not this season defo will be in their next. Big season ahead, i'm sure none have us have looked forward starting as this one for a very long time. Jonson6

23 Jul 2011 17:12:32
after watching the 3 pre-season games, and liverpool conceding 9 goals in 3 games i am seriously concerned with our defence. i know it's pre-season and there are lots of changes and new partnerships but most of the goals result from poor, average defending. people not pressing etc. What do you think eds? Strengthening needed? or do you think with all our first choices back they will start to gel again? {Ed009's Note - I certainly think that we need to buy reinforcements, but that it is pointless to do so unless we can find some genuine quality. I would not like to see 'stopgap' players, we seem to recruit them every year.}

23 Jul 2011 17:07:39
wah, wah, wah. What a bunch of babies.
It's only a pre-season friendly for goodness sake. Why are people slating the players already? Fairweather fans. Shocking. The same people who last season watched the pre-friendlies and came on here raving about how we were gonna win the league with Cole, Jovanovic etc. We're in it for the long run, go and support Chelsea or Man City if your just a glory hunter.

23 Jul 2011 17:05:46
Like ive said for ages if we dont get a class centre back forget about success. But why are you all moaning its pre season its embarassing when "fans" moan like that you dont have a clue about football.

22 white Liverpool shirts for sale in Hull...Clean as a whistle no marks or sweat on.

23 Jul 2011 17:00:31
Liverpool will now have a settling period for 2-3 years, just like Man City did. Whoever thinks we will achieve success overnight really need to go and watch another sport. This season is about building, and a top 4 place is highly unlikely considering that teams ahead of us have had longer to play together. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but being realistic, I think a top 6 finish would be a decent season before building to the next.

23 Jul 2011 16:59:20
get rid of those deadwood players now. its embarising today against a weak and sh*te team. please get rid of those useless players such as ngog, polsen, kyriacos, cole, aquilani, spearing, jones, insua, el zha, jovanovic, darby and others. we need to win titles but we need to get rid of these useless players that are not good enough to play for liverpool.

23 Jul 2011 16:58:52
what ever you guys say it was against hull i cant believe we loose to hull 3-0 save us God
bring some class mata, lavezzi, higuain, alvaro

23 Jul 2011 16:57:37
Lets face it english footballers are shockingly over rated and over priced we have we spent 35 million on some t**t with a big head and 20 million on someone who can only use one foot and cant even hit andy carrols bit fat head
we coulda had mata and augero playing today if we had spent the money better and i bet we woulda thrashed them if we did

23 Jul 2011 16:54:37
Guys I appreciate it's pre-season an all, but C'mon...jeeeez. Are you watching this? Cos I am and it's appalling Seriously, our defense is shocking I mean, this is Hull City, with all due respect. We've had the likes of Kelly, Carra, Cole, Aquilani, Carroll, Downing, Adam, Hendo etc playing.... Really concerned about our inability to create ANYTHING without Suarez. Lee YNWA

why in these friendlies are we not throwing our starting 11 for prem on and playing em 90mins to gel and for match fitness this deadwood playing is bull
sorry for re-post eds wht r ur thoughts {Ed002's Note - The games are an opportunity to like at different players and options and to add match fitness to the pre-season regime.}

23 Jul 2011 16:54:17
I have said it previously and I an saying it again.
Kenny is a world class manager his record says so at Liverpool but he is not a magician.
We are doing great injustice to him if we expect this current team to challenge for title.
If you are looking at united they had decent first team and have added two very good squad players in Jones and Young.
Our first team looks decent but our squad is not good enough.
We all know the players.
we are still short of 4 players we all know the positions CB, LB, Back up striker and a winger.
Downing is good but what happens when he gets injured. Back up is not good. If we push in our talented young players and they struggle then they will really get demoralized. We have to nurture them.

Lots of work ahead and no short cuts but silver lining in dark cloud is that we are improving.
Never give up.

Liverpool as a team arent playing well today, but it is early days as a tea, indivdually it is going well. Henderson is getting on the end of balls, Downing is being a nuisance, Kuyt is linking upfront, Adam and Aquilani have been putting in good passes, just rusty as a team.
Im watching the commentary on a site where loads of fans of the other top 6 teams are slating us, id like to see them have half a team play that havent played together before and see how diificult it is to bed all the new blood in.

Liverpool are being humiliated I am very angry about that. It is about time that Liverpool learnt how to humiliate other teams - because they always (FOR YEARS) let opposition of the hook. We hear that players like Poulsen, Cole, N'gog and a few others are surplus to requirements. WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY DOING ON A FOOTBALL PITCH WEARING A LIVERPOOL SHIRT. Get shut and get shut NOW

The idea of loaning aqualani out again is a joke. This time next year we will be back in the same boat. Its a complete waste of time.Just one more thing how has football got to teams conducting business in the media.Chelsea-modric, man city-aguero, barcelona-fabergas.Its a disgrace the way barcelona have courted fabergas all out in the open with no respect for arsenal, it has to be tapping up of some sort its going on since the last world cup.The reason i say this because the time will come when they come after saurez. The way these clubs do business should be stopped now.It is tapping up of some sort.(RD.RED)

After a dire 1st half with the likes of Poulsen, Aqualiani, Cole, Ngog, Maxi all starting we are 2 down against Hull. I think that crowd will not have a Liverpool future after that

23 Jul 2011 15:56:34
just watching liverpool v hull. half time 2.0 down hull are so better in the tackle and they are killing us down the wings.. it amazes me that hull have width and liverpool are going down the middle and liverpool have no wingers bar downing.. ngog hopeless poulsen also cole get rid of asap and maxi a joke:) friendly or not your playing for the jersey and from what i have seen the deadwood has to go after this game..aquilani has done ok..

23 Jul 2011 15:48:32
As I've always said Ngog is worse than Poulsen.

23 Jul 2011 15:47:34
half time report:
players that have impressed me are:
ayala-good at back, controlled, plays the pass, simple
robinson-good pace and control, looks solid
cole-trickery and good passing, looking good
aqualani-skillfull, great passing, player of 1st half for me

players that have not impressed me are:
ngog-bad touch just wastefull
carra-ok at back keeps hoofing ball forward
poulsen-simple but ineffective
maxi-not seen him part from few touches

For people asking why we want to sell Meireles: First off, he is a good player. He played well last year, at times he was our best player. Here is the thing though, Kenny has a vision of how he wants the team to play. He knows what roles he wants filled. Meireles simply doesn't fit in with how Kenny wants to play. Building a team doesnt mean just going out and having a bunch of good players. It means having a vision, an overriding idea and acquiring the players who can make that vision happen.

Are Adam and Henderson better players than Meireles? Maybe, maybe not. But they fit better into the plan Kenny has for the team.

Hmmm 2-0 down v Hull. All it shows to me is why we don't need Poulsen, Ngog and Cole in the first team - can't create a decent chance between them.

Hull match is available on google chrome:-

1. Install the browser Google Chrome.

2. Look in the top right (your right) corner and you will see a spanner.

3. Click on the spanner and select 'tools'.

4. Click on extensions

5. At the bottom right (as you look at it) you will see 'Get More Extensions >>'. Select this.

6. In the search box type 'Chrome Live Football' and search.

7. Click on Chrome Live Football and then click on install. (it may download to a holding file in the bottom left as you look at it, in which case as soon as it's finished click there, but mostly it will install itself)

8. A small football will then appear in the top right (as you look at it). Click on that, select 'live stream' and reset the clock to GMT and it will list all the live games available all over europe and other places.

You may occasionally need to install other programmes or the link you pick will only work on Explorer (in which case cut and paste the URL into Explorer), but you will always get every EPL match (or any other). Sometimes you will only be able to find it with foreign commentary and sometimes you will get it in English. You'll get about thirty links and you may have to look through a lot of them to get what you want. You will also get most La Liga matches, Greek matches, Italian matches and French matches as well as top matches from South America.

Someone also asked about viruses etc. Google Chrome is actually far more secure than Internet Explorer so the risks are considerably less, but you should have decent virus/spyware programmes and run sweeps regularly as a matter of course.

The quality will also depend on the speed of your internet connection. If you have super-speed and have a modern HD TV, consider connecting your PC to the TV via the PC socket on the side/ back.

Cut and paste the above into a document and save it for future reference.

Please can you post in rumours, would like some of the other redacted views on this as well.

Would one of the ed's plese be kind enough to shed a little light on something for me Why on earth are we buying Charlie Adam and Jordan Henderson and trying to get rid of raul meireles who in my opinion is better than both of them Surely we should be taking steps forward Admittedly lucas has grown a a player but surely we are better team with raul in it... He is first team all day long

Keep up the good work guys

I see Aggers not in the squad for today's game. I hope its not ANOTHER injury If so, we have to get another Centre Back. Good to see Ayala is getting a game. I like the lad and think he has what it takes to become a very good Center Back

23 Jul 2011 14:16:56
Potential Centre Midfielders:
Meireles (May be leaving)
Aquilani (Good as gone)
Spearing (Deserves a chance)
Lucas (Proven)
Shelvey (Not quite ready)
Poulsen (Panic buy for Masch)
Adam (Should do well)
Gerrard (?? concerning his groin)
Cole (Must prove himself by January)
Henderson (should do well)
I really don't see us buying a centre midfielder before January unless we get a really good deal. How will line up? I'm sure our excellent management team has pondered & discussed this lenghthily. I can honestly & reallistically say that Carroll may be the best header of the ball in the BPL & maybe in European & World football. If you think I'm wrong name 3 better headers. Therefore its obvious why we signed the 3 midfielders that we signed. We want to increase the number of goal scoring chances that Carroll receives. Especially the ariel ones. As for Suarez he'll create his own chances. Therefore I expect all of our new signings to establish themselves as regular starters before January. Thus Gerrard will become our Giggs when fit. He'll be in the starting 11 against teams like Man U & Chelsea. People might not like that idea but we could get the mostout of him that way. Plus Hendo has proven himself. I think he's more like Beckham than Gerrard (imo).

why are liverpool selling meireles for? He was one of our best players last season and i think he would be even better this season with new player around him. gerrard is struggling with his injury so dont you think we should keep him another season and then make the decision next year to sell him or not? I think he is better than henderson and he is also cheaper and i dont understand how english players cost so much more than better players abroad.

ree movement the Bosman ruling, free movement of EU workers etc. There are calls for a salary cap, but I heard an argument that it would be breaking some law. Unsure how exactly, as salary caps exist in other sports There are a lot of eyes watching Sky's next bid for EPL TV rights £1.3B over 3 years was the last £1.3B over 3 years was the last package I believe, this deal ends at the end of next season I understand. It is widely expected that the next deal will be far less, as the economic climate is not what it was. This could have varying impacts on many clubs depending on the outcome, but that being said, with all the silly money there is in football (Man City, Chelsea et al) it could easily just keep rising. However this is not sustainable which has lead to new rules being created which will attempt to secure football and its clubs. Realistically these rules will no doubt, be bypassed in time as many others have before i.e. Rule 34. It seems to me that whoever attempts to govern and limit the wreckage football is heading for will need 'big balls', unfortunately all the Governing body leaders in football seem to be Eunuch s who bow before the money.

Regarding the salary cap:

I believe the system for salary caps in the NHL in the states to be a good model of a salary cap system which doesn't break the law.

By law you cannot cap someones salary, but the club itself has a cap. Meaning all the teams in the nhl are allowed X amount to spend on salaries, this amount is fixed and the same for all teams. Currently in football it is related to how much money each club actually makes, which is unfair as some clubs make more money than others ie citys sponsorship deal.

Giving every team the same cap means they will have to choose which players to give massive wages to as if they pay too much then they will have to sell squad members which they need to accommodate the high earner. City also won't be able to offer more than anyone else all the time as everyone will have the same limit. I think this fair. Anyone agree?

Mr E {Ed002's Note - It is never going to happen I am afraid. FIFA and UEFA both fear a breakaway pan-European league. There are occasional discussions between certain clubs on this very subject and there will be further some discussions on August 24 or 25. The discussions between clubs are obviously behind closed doors (Or in hotel bars) but certainly UEFA are aware of them - just to keep them on their toes.}

Hmmm johnson's comments about tevez/Aguero kinda lead me to believe he is not considering departing city. I would be ecstatic if we were to sign him

He was our talisman last season, he scored all our goals and at times he carried us with his goals and individual brilliance, " Johnson told News. "He has his own reasons for what he's doing at the moment, but he's a world class player."

Asked about the potential arrival of Aguero, Johnson revealed he knows the forward well. His message to the City board was simple; if Tevez leaves Aguero has to arrive.

"He's a world class player isn't he?" commented the winger. "It'd be great if he came. I've watched La Liga for the last couple of seasons and he's an outstanding player."

Hand on heart, is Alvaro Pereira a viable option at 18mil? ed or anyone? I would love it to be true because the lad is a CLASS act but I have my doubts.

does anyone else think when we sell and release some of our outgoing players we could still see a big name of say hazzard.mata.benenza.navas. etc .i think we will most of these players have the best years ahead of them they are young and i think if kk wants to have 4 top class forwards who can even play in a front 3 sometimes it makes sense.i know young adam morgan might come into the first team squad this season so that could effect the thinking on this.whats everyone think......lfc

Redmaverick, thanks for your kind words mate. I've said sorry folks and belive me i am. I aint a poisous bigot by any means, when Indian Red told the site about the 3 bombs in Mumbai, i posted within minutes supporting a fellow red, my point bein that he's from a different continent, i wouldn't think a bigot would do . If i was a bigot or whatever i wouldn't have posted anything to him, never mind within minutes of him posts going on. Doesn't justify the word i used by any means but again can , i'm sorry it wont happen again. Sorry for bringing it up Ed002, will be the last time re of replys. Lads and Lasses,

I believe at the moment that there is no way we will be dotting the i's and crossing the t's on any more contracts for new players until we have firstly moved no 98 and 99 on to Fiorentina and no idea where Insua will be going to.

Think about it, Aqua going means 70.000 or whatnot being saved per week. Insua I don't know, Degen will go, so will Jovo and possibly one or two more.

We can rumour what we like at the moment but it ain't happening until the wage bill comes down a notch.

Now having said that, I would love to see either another winger come in, along the lines of Navas, or preferably Eden Hazard, but in all likelyhood neither of these will sign, which begs the question why on earth don't we tap into our reserves for a right winger.

The obvious one that comes to mind is Suso, who although left footed, can play on the right. Not sure how old he is, but i have the feeling he is almost ready to get a few games in the 1st team.

ED, do you know what happened with the 2 chinese Under 17s that we took on trial? Normally trials last 2 weeks max so their trial should be finished now shouldn't it?

Also what happened to the interest in the 2 swedish players from a few weeks ago? {Ed002's Note - I am not really hip to what is happening with trialists, perhaps someone else can chip in.}

23 Jul 2011 11:24:57
If we sell aqua, meireles, cole and maxi, our midfield will be: Gerrard, Lucas, Adam, Henderson, Downing, Spearing, Shelvey. No flair players, just players who will play the long ball over the top, no players who can weave their way through tight defences with good dribbling and silky skills just typical British midfielders. See this is the problem with Daglish's transfer policy, you need a good mix of players, some who specialise in passing, some with good dribbling and some solid defencive ones.
Gerrard is known his passing and energy, Adam the same, Henderson the same, Lucas for his short pass and reasonable tackle and Downing's got a cross. I just feel we will be in the same boat as last year unless we sign a flair player who can beat his man, at the moment we only have Suarez. Mata, Turan, Diego, Affelay, Marin, Jeffren etc we need a players like this other wise we will struggle next season in the creativity department.

I do not understand why everyone is getting upset with the Aquilani saga.

First of all, it is not like we will actually miss him. He has never really had an impact at LFC so it will be like he has never been here anyway.

Dalglish has probably told him that he can stay but cannot guarentee him a place in the starting eleven. Aquialni will want to be in the team in every match but we have many midfielders to accommodate. He also has said that he wants to stay in Italy. Dalglish wants players who will wear the shirt with pride and it seems Aquilani does not fit this role.

Just move on, no player is bigger than the club.

great news rearding United ticket allocation at Anfield

one United fan inside Anfield is one too many

I don't see why LFC should have to stump up extra policing costs, ban them, or if they can't behave themselves, add the extra policing to the price of the tickets for away fans ONLY. Not that police should be drawn off doing proper police work for the sake of a football match anyway. There's no way Liverpool residents should have to pay for the cost of policing away fans through their council tax

From the mouth of a long standing Reading season ticket holder, who has told me he has heard Shane Long is on his way to Liverpool in a deal worth £7.5m - He believes was have got ourselves the 'bargin of the decade' {Ed002's Note - Shane, it has been ages since you last posted. Gents,
Just been told capel has gone for 3.5 mil, OUTRAGEOUS, i understand that we dont need to bid for every player that becomes available, however, could you think of a more suitable example of sabremetrics buy a talented young attacking midfielder for buttons and guarantee within 2 years he WILL be worth quadruple what you paid for him and he WILL have made a contribution to the team..... would love your thoughts and a comment from ed.... ps i think gerrard is goosed and dann will be a liverpool player before the window shuts.... 7.5 mill i have heard..
Jay Mc {Ed002's Note - My comment is simple - sabremetrics are baseball statistics. What sport do you think Liverpool play?}

23 Jul 2011 10:05:00
Liverpool to let City get a bid for Aguero accepted and then match that bid. We cannot match City wages but will leave it to player to choose the team. Got this on good authority believe me we don't want to get into an auction with City--Finisher {Ed002's Note - The issue is not the cost of the player - Atletico put a fixed price on that. The issue is the package for the player.}

can someone please tell me what we are going to do with the deadwood. we need to get theme out now. these players include polsen, jovanovic, kyriacos and others. i cant stand ngog, he isnt good enough to play for liverpool and we aint going to win titles with crap players such as him and others. why the hell did we get konchescy he is the worst signing ever and im glad he left. {Ed002's Note - This has been discussed at length, obviously you are too lazy to read the other posts. I really don't see why anyone should put the effort in to explaining this to you.}

Eds - fantastic work and love the site. Keep it up. Just a quick comment and question re. Raul Meireles. I thought that he had a fine season after the appointment of KK. The King obviously inspired the player and of course he had got used to the pace of the league by late February. I see him as a real assett and believe it would be a mistake to sell him. He suits our criteria perfectly and will get better and better given the chance. Liverpool fans I have talked to feel he has a key role to play at Anfield this season and yet you guys and many other contributors seem fairly certain that he will be moved on this window. My question is Why? Do you know something we don't? Do you guys feel he isn't up to it? Do you think there are better midfielders out there of his type that we can attract without CL football? Where have these rumours come from? Thanks Eds {Ed002's Note - I have never said that Meireles is not up to it. It is a case that he is considering leaving the club for reasons that are well known and have been discussed at some length. If they are resolved he may well stay.}

Morning all.

First things first. A welcome to Charlie and Stewart.
Kenny greatly wanted his men, and he's got them.
Success.

Now I know Downing hasn't exactly "wowed" some.
But, fellas, we talking about one of the top chance creators here.
I'd take, and believe me I mean it, this fella over Young, Walcot, Lennon, Nani and Bale anyday.

That for the simple fact that he's an intelligent footballer with a (brilliant) end product.
Sure, he's not as quick as those other players, but besides that, what else do Young, Walcot, Lennon, Nani and Bale do that Downing doesn't?

Downing can cross an effective ball. Lennon and Walcot couldn't cross a road, let alone a ball.
Young, Nani and Bale can cross, but jus not as well. Refer to the stats.

How many in those players got more goals than Downing?
How had more successful dribbles than Downing?
How many were as consistent as Downing?

Bale, for all his pace, is a one-dimensional phoney with no skill, agility to manoevre in and around tight spaces.
Compress space for or force him to the inside and he's a dud.

The headless chickens Lennon and Walcot possess no meaningful, effective dribbling. The former will subject the audience to a series of futile, time-consuming stepovers, while the latter will invariably attempt to knock it into space behind the full back.

Add to that the fact that both players can't cross or score and you have yourself two well and truly useless players.

Nani for all the skill and pace has the most abysmal, shocking decision-making for an unbelievably overhyped player.
And good decision-making, fellas, is the basis of any good footballer.
It's why Messi is, always has been, and always will be, a better player than Ronaldo.

The only other winger I rate highly is Valencia.
He's faster than Downing and possesses a cross just as good.
However, save for pace, Downing's the better player.
Valencia's on-dimensional, doesn't goals and isn't as consistent as our new winger.

Downing's effective and efficient. His is a no-nonsense attitude. He gets the job done.
He's a reliable footballer.
I'm made up we got him.

Moving on. I see there's been lots of talk about "overcrowding" in midfield and also on the need (or lack thereof) for a left back.
Well, here's my take.

CENTRE BACK: I think we need to and will bring in such a player.
Carra's getting on, Agger's fitness is unreliable, Soto and Skrtel are hit and miss, and Wilson is just not ready to be a full senior thus far.

LEFT BACK: I believe a player here should be signed, albeit not a dedicate left back.
A player like Vargas or Alvaro Pereira would be adequate.
In the event of that Downing's out, either of the above players would do brilliant on the wing in his place.

When you consider the culture of versatility, flexibility and multi dimensionality that Kenny's trying to foster, Pereira or Vargas makes much more sense than Baines or Enrique.

So we should bring in a player here. And not that I'm jumping on the media bandwagon, I'd take Pereira over Vargas, mainly for the fact that, at 25, he's much younger than the Peruvian. Both are equally capable going forward, though Varga edges through his Le Saux factor.

OVERCROWDING IN MIDFIELD: another central midfielder is needed here. People should be mindful of 3 things.

1. Meireles, Aquilani, Poulsen, Spearing (and possibly Shelvey) will be off (the latter two on loans).

2. Gerrard's groin will render him unreliable/doubtful as he likely won't be as much available as we would have liked. Put short, our skipper may in Agger.
(Though important that we should wait for official pronouncements on the matter.)

3. With Hendersen largely destined to feature as a right winger, that leaves Lucas and Adam as our only reliable/certaing midfield starters.
Neither bring to the team what Gerrard brings.
They different type players.

Sure, Hendo could come, but imo, the lad right now would be important for us out wide than he would centrally.
But, but, with time, he'll assume the role full time.

So who's that player we should bring in then? Just like, I think him none other than Moussa Sissoko.
I don't need to say anything that has already been said about him other than, for me, he's one of finest midfielders in the world.

Some would doubt that, but wait till the kid make a step up to a big team and watch his talent flourish.
Ed002, you say that Comolli remains "very keen". I hope does.
We should get this lad.

FORWARD: contrary to many views, I believe we should look at bringing in another striker.
The sort of striker I want to see isn't primarily a goalscorer.

In Kuyt and Carroll, we have very good goalscorers.
What need is a primarily creator type forward also capable of banging in a couple (a la Suarez).
Mata could also play the role.

Kuyt and Carroll would be our 30+ goals a season strikers with Suarez and that other striker being among the chief creators and themselves getting 20+ goals a season.

I hope we're looking at such a forward.

Morning all,
Just a couple of questions:
1) This may sound stupid to ask but I genuinely don't know, the so called deadwood, can we offer them a redundancy package, based on on time served rather than time left, or does contract law not allow it ?

2) Where can I watch Hull match? Is it on of lfctv ?

This isnt a rumour nor is it banter really, its more of a musing of sorts.....

i read somewhere a few weeks ago about how jay bothroyd was wanting £65k a week to join QPR, and it just got me thinking about how such a mediocre player can command or wish for so much and how much the players get paid these days. I remember when Fabizio Ravanelli joined middlesborough in 95/96 i think and there was massive uproar when it was revealed that he was taking home £42k per week after tax (given that at the time he was a big name star) and people were saying how much money it was and the amount was obscene, and i think a lot of the players around that time were on about £20k per week, and now i hear on here that El Zhar is on £30k per week? It just boggles the mind to see how much money has influenced the game with the hight transfer fees (£80m for ronaldo) and the wages on offer (rumoured £200k for aguero). not that im saying its their fault of course but its still a bit mental.

15 years ago we paid a british transfer fee for Stan Collymore and now we spend roughly the same on Charlie Adam which is seen as cheap in todays market.
I just wonder where in another 10-15years the state of the game will be if the price of players and wages keep spiralling out of control, will/should there be a salary cap? Surely what goes up must come down?

Just my thoughts anyway - thanks for reading :)

Hi Eds - please post and reply.. Do you think that we risk losing out on transfer targets now that we have to sell before we buy. I fear that if we are after players in demand like Dann or Cahill for CB or Enrique or Cissokho or Baines for LB that other clubs will get to them before we have the money in place. Also now that other clubs know we need to sell do you think we can be held to ransom and offer less than the players worth as we need the cash and to reduce the wage bill ? We need to raise about 40 million to get a LB and CB that are good enough to command a place in the team along with a backup striker... How will this be done
Aqua man - a loan seems to be only option
Meireles - 12 m
Ngog - 6 m
If we are lucky enough to rid ourselves of Poulsen and the other names mentioned on this site regulary we might get about 10 - 15 m if we are lucky.
We still fall short.. Will the owners give KK more. so far we have spent 58m in Jan but the sale of Torres and Babel covered that. this window 16m hendo 20 m downing and Adams 6.5m.. This means in two transfer windows the owners have invested about 40m in players. That figure does not seem very high at all.

I know this might not seem like much to some of you, but I had to share this with people that will understand.

I'm 34 years old and have supported Liverpool since 1985 but never had the chance to set foot inside Anfield and experience the magic first hand.

I've just bought 2 tickets for the Valencia game and am already as excited as a 5 year old waiting for Christmas

Hey eds.
With Man City are linked with a midfielder every other day including the likes of Nasri, what are the chances of Adam Johnson wanting out? And if he does want out what are the chances that he'd want to come to Liverpool and is it likely that Kenny would put in a bid? We have already spent a fair wack of cash and i can't imagine that Johnson would go for much less than £20 mill. Your thoughts?

Great site by the way. Keep up the good work.

John B dont even though i went well over board, if you look through the posts i've posted, he's the first Liverpool player i've ever had a go at. Wrote posts defending Carroll, Henderson, Gerrard, Carra, Downing Adam, dont use the word deadwood, always players we need to get rid of or words to that effect. , please dont tell me you've never had a go at a player. Probably more if if ya look through look through archives and he's the first player i've ever had a go at although i do think he was happy to sign the five year deal then he wants to go, then stay. Its turning into a farce. I am very very sorry for the offence i've caused though sincerely.Jonson6
