Just want to say I loved kenny was in pen 4 on that day.
Better Men than me have chosen BR
I love LFC
I think we stop theorising and for 24 months we all just support 100% and see where we are in May 2014
Loved rafa wanted him back but the only way i see is 110% support for our new manager and the next 24 months Apolloneil JFT96

Why would you want benitez back. can you not appreciate good footbal.

Br will do us the world of good wont be long untill Liverpool are back in cl !

'can you not appreciate good football?' That is a strange response considering some of the great football we played under Rafa. Imagine if he had enjoyed the financial support from dumb & dumber at the time then the future would have been completely different.
solidair

One thing we didn't get under Benitez was " good football ", it was dour, I cannot remember walking out of the Kop many times in his 6 years and saying to fellow kopites - " Wow that was exciting ". He had financial support, he was the archetypical blameless human being - anything that went wrong it was always someone elses fault - he will go down in LFC history as the first employee never to have made a mistake or bad decision.
I hope he gets a job in football again one day ( which I doubt ) then the " in RAFA we trust" brigade can blindly follow him again, and least get 90 minutes sleep a week.

John B {Ed029's Note - I agree, many people don't remember it was Rafa who took us to 8th in the league in his last season and signed Andriy Voronin and David Ngog in the same season.

Its just the benitez bum lick brigade reporting for duty. you'd think they have a 10 second memory. the same fans calling for kenny to be appointed called for him to be sacked.

I expect him to sign for Liverpool.}

Agreement should be made by 30th of June as that's when he's expected back at Hoffenheim, they gave him the extra time off to organise a move away.

Are we likely to see Jordi Alba at Barcelona sometime soon? They produce a hundred talents, release them then resign them once they start getting better! [FR] {Ed022's Note - Yes, Barcelona have him lined up to replace Abidal.}

Alba agreed personal trems wait for a fee with valencia.

23 Jun 2012 23:31:00
Is there any interest from any clubs in Johan Cabaye? Thanks. {Ed022's Note - Yes, but not Liverpool.}

23 Jun 2012 23:18:03
Eds I think we signing a player from a club for a fee . Do you think it will happen with all the 100s of players deals (rumours) that are completed and will be announced next week or the week after that .

Is it me but i cannot understand the question

23 Jun 2012 23:15:54
Hey Ed,
Why don't Liverpool go for Cardozo? 29, excellent scoring record. Heard a lot of rumors linking him with Everton and Chelsea but the Chelsea link is dead and reports in Portugal say that Everton are tabling a bid for him. {Ed022's Note - No idea.}

Oscar Cardozo?
The magic man... Now you see him, now you don't, 3 matches later... you still don't.
Oh! what's this? Hat-trick... Oh no no.... False alarm, he's still missing...

23 Jun 2012 23:10:25
I can't wait for season to start
Just hope can just get a goal scorer, last season we played some teams off the field just couldn't put it in the back of the net.
Just would like a winger to make some competition.

We just lack confidence

One player I would love to c is Adam Johnson

All this talk about Adam Johnson, go and ask any City fan about him, those I have spoken to don't rate him.

People moan about not going for big name players, how many of the top teams are in for Johnson?

23 Jun 2012 22:55:27

Johnson-Skrtel-Agger-Enrique

-Lucas-Gerrard-

-Sigurdsson/Aquilani-

-J.Rodriguez - Suarez-
-Carroll/Rondon-

Doni, Kelly, Coates, Aquilani/Sigurdsson, Hendo, Bellamy, Rondon/Carroll

Please take aquilani off the team. he is sh*T

Where is shelvey? Surely he deserves to be the squad more than aquilani. Another aquaman lover i guess.

Ed's can you confirm that Liverpool is in talks with Athletic Bilbao, regarding the transfer of Markel Susaeta? I know we have shown interest in him over the course of last season, but I have been told by several people that it is only over the past few days have we been in serious talks with the club.
Have you heard anything.
Cheers!

Red Lee {Ed022's Note - I cannot confirm this.}

I think that would be a top signing

23 Jun 2012 22:47:45
Sigurdsson will be a LFC player by next week. Still on his holidays at the moment, should get wrapped up when he returns.

Borini deal looks unlikely but we have asked Roma if they are willing to sell. No response from them as of yet. Parma were interested in thrashing out a deal with us but unfortunately they were outbidded.

Sturridge is a target because Rodgers wants a striker that is different to Carroll and Suarez and also because he is looking for inside forwards rather than out and out wingers. Players who will cut inside and link with the attackers and midfielders rather than your chalk on the boots type. Another one we are very keen on is Muniain although I would be very surprised if we actually signed him.

23 Jun 2012 22:47:33
so what happens with jay spearing? is he going or is he staying? In my opinion he isnt a bad player but he will never be up to liverpool standard where he can help us challenge for the league title, cant see it personally, so i would offload him to a team like fulham or sunderland maybe.
Another question is who would we replace him with? obviously we have lucas as our first choice but we will need back up for him, i like the look of m'vila but i realize that maybe unlikely, nigel de jong wouldnt be a bad shout with him only having a year left on his current Manchester city contract. what do you think fellow reds and ed? {Ed022's Note - I believe that he may well be offloaded this summer.}

23 Jun 2012 22:45:39
Have Napoli tabled an €18 million bid for Seydou Doumbia but CSKA want at least €22m (£18m)?

I know there is a "query" about his true age but his record is second to none and his attributes (mainly speed and finishing ability) would be perfect for LFC.

Eds, do you think he will end up at Napoli?

Cheers JY

{Ed022's Note - I don't know.}

23 Jun 2012 22:41:15
striker oppstion

.borini roma won bidding war so that is that
.solado new contract at valencia
.luc castaignos i would like to see a new striker possibley him but not on loan full signing
.rondon would be ideal for be young,strong,great potenial

23 Jun 2012 22:17:48
alrite lads looking at spain we know their technically great but i think the main reason they have been so successful and are so good is because their more intelligent than other teams their players are educated about spacial awareness and decision making at young age like barcelona they have a school at their training centres players do all their exams while also playing football this is something other countries must follow would you agree eds and fellow reds.Marky

Defo agree but 1 has to assume england has these sort of academies already

23 Jun 2012 22:08:51
I want alonso back! I recon if we get top 4 he may come back to us hopefully he's just pure quality

Well i doubt we'll see it anytime soon but he said he wants to return. the only reason he left was due to a certain arrogant manager not wanting him to attend the birth of his child. of any of our recent players who left i would want him back most of all

This player, that player.
FSG employed their taxi driver as a manager.
I don't care what the eds think.
Top players do not want to be managed by a bus driver.
The tiki taka style has been sussed.
Rodgers will lose key players, they won't want to play for him.
Bad move FSG.
The eds won't publish this, because they know it's true.
FSG are clueless.
Football is not part of their culture.
Crisis in November. {Ed022's Note - Well, aren't you just lovely.}

Psycho!

Tika taka style has been sussed?
I keep hearing this yet I se no evidence of it

Chris in Tamworth

People must not like you in real life either.
AnfieldUSA

I do think the many teams are starting to see that they can "do a Chelsea" in crude terms against ball holding teams but not for one minute to I believe any manager, even the average ones have no considered this.

If you or I have thought of this, it's a bit silly to think that Mr Rodgers et al have not, do you not think?

Tika Tika sussed? Not by the French!

Sussed.. Yes because Spain were just out classed tonight... Tika taka is just soooo last year..

Myk

Hold on. theams have been playing like chelsea against barca for a few seasons now and that chelsea beat them you say its sussed out. on another day barca would've knocked 4 past chelsea. remember chelsea got lots of luck against barca. so if teams play like chelsea and hope to get lucky against us then i say bring it on. if you were to replay that match 10 times i doubt you'll get the same outcome. sure spain are still on course to win their 3rd euros in a row.

ed few questions:
1.do you see shelvey going on loan next season or being part of the squad.
2.what do you think of flanagan does he have what it takes to make the grade.
3.do you think cole will be here next season

thanks DORSET RED {Ed022's Note - 1 - It is possible, but I hope not. 2 - Probably not to be honest. 3- I really don't know, Rodgers likes him but the club want him to drop his wage demands, but in all fairness, why should he?}

Joe Cole was offered X amount for Y amount of years, he agreed, why should he renegade on his contract? Blame should lie with the absolute idiots that decided a 4 (or 5 is it?) year contract of 100k p/w was a good idea for what could best be described as a Chelsea squad player past his peak [FR]

23 Jun 2012 22:00:02
Why wouldn't liverpool be able to buy top class players? Why managed to buy Suarez. I have full trust in BR and think he's perfect for liverpool.

Our history is attractive but benitez had the suarez deal all but done i believe ajax had agreed to sell to us but we had to wait a year or 2

Good god this Rafa stuff again. No he had'nt.

23 Jun 2012 21:55:45
There can be only one rumour you be receiving tonight ED's.
Xabi Alsonso is being signed after the Euros.
Any truth ED's ?

Get ready to cut and paste your answer now {Ed022's Note - I actually discussed this with Ed001 that we would have to answer this an awful lot tonight haha. Unlikely this summer, but perhaps the next.}

23 Jun 2012 21:54:53
Xavi and Iniesta have manged to complete more passes in 4 games in the Euro's than Henderson, Adam, Gerrard, Downing and Spearing (combined) managed in the whole of last season. {Ed022's Note - Oh grow the hell up and learn genuine statistics.}

Ed022, That actually is a genuine statistic {Ed022's Note - So Xavi and Iniesta completed more passes than 4 of our midfielders throughout an entire season? Utter BS.}

Yeah i seen that aswell, sad but true. greg

No stats, just some wooly reasoning-

Spain- 400 odd passes a game?
Xavi + Iniesta- even if they completed every pass, their pass total would be 1600.

38 games a season, 5 players mentioned.
That works out to each player making 10 passes a game.

And I have given you so much leeway on my estimations that George Osbourne would be proud [FR]

Heaven help us!.
Is this truly the 'measure' of the English school system, what a absolute joke!.

If you really look to barcelona or Spain playing, breathrough passes are only a tenth of their passes. The rest is a build-up game consisting of very safe, easy and close passes, the style is different from ours. Doesn't mean I prefer watching long balls getting lost on the strikers but I reckon if Setvie G was part of barcelona he would have the same kind of numbers, (joe allen had the same numbers does it mean he's a worldclass player ?) Statistics are efficient when properly used.

Congrats to Xabi Alonso tonight. Shame we lost him, LFC went downhill once he left. 100 caps, 2 goals. Absolute class.

23 Jun 2012 21:48:46
Eds do u think Aidan mcgeady would be a good signing for lfc I think he could be a better buy than Adam Johnson. And alot cheaper in fee and wages. Joelfc1892 {Ed022's Note - Unlikely mate.}

Seriously Aiden mc useless more like. He was useless for Ireland.

Im irish to the bone and mcgeady is muck if he started wearing a liverpool shirt i wouldnt disown the club but i would cry for an intervention

He's not even Irish! {Ed029's Note - Yes he is

23 Jun 2012 21:45:43
If Skrtel would go i think we should go for Simon Kjaer. He look solid against Holland,Portugal and Germany in Euro 2012 alongside Daniel Agger. He would cost maybe 7.5M. Sigurdsson will join for 8M.

Godin.

23 Jun 2012 21:34:45
Anyone else wish to pass their thanks on to Rafa for pushing out one of the very best midfielders the club has ever seen?

What a class act Xabi Alonso is, he should be talked about in far higher esteem than the likes of Mascherano and Torres!

SideShowBob

He's world class now that he's left us, and became world class with us in his final year, but he was fairly, dare I say, underperforming for the first several years of his contract! He had one good year and he's the best midfielder to play for Liverpool?

Doesn't do justice to Stevie.

McSnuggles

I disagree mcsnuggles although he was particularly good in his final year. He was still exceptional in the preceding years. CQ

He was good before his final year, but not good enough. It was his final year that he played like the world class player he now is.
Rafa may have been in charge when he was sold, but it was all down to H&G.
Do some research!!!!!

I suppose H&G were responsible for the Kennedy assasination as well. Rafa really sucked in some of you fools didn;t he,

23 Jun 2012 21:33:36
I am not a liverpool fan but how Rafa thought barry was better than Alonso remains a mystery

If Alonso with us Gerrard sure get more goal.

Wasnt there issues with the amount of non english players at the club at that time?

It was the fact that Barry & Gerrard played really well together for England.
Barry was and is a very good midfielder.
H&G would not give enough money for Barry and was told to sell to buy.
Alonso had been poor for the previous 12-18 months (after Lampard broke his ankle).
He was deemed a saleable asset and Juventus and Arsenal were sniffing around the £16m mark.
For whatever reason the transfer feel through and he then went on to have a world class season.
Nothing to do with Rafa. More to do with H&G screwing the club. {Ed001's Note - utter rubbish. Rafa wanted to play Barry on the left wing, he even said so himself.}

23 Jun 2012 21:33:09
I would be happy with Sigurdsson, M.Suarez and Krasic, as they are all capable of scoring and creating goals, have character in their abilities that compliment Rodgers ideas and would provide depth to the squad whilst hopefully allowing room for Sterling to develop his game in the left forward role.

Finally I would try to buy the 20yr old "dutch Xavi" - Jordy Clasie. To be honest he is more like 'Jack Wilshire' than Xavi and as far as centre mids go, like Jack for his age he is one of the best prospects in Europe and would be available for around £8m.

I would keep the rest, even Adam as our squad was not massive last year and now we are in Europa and the entire squad deserve at least until January to see how they get on under Rodgers.

Cheers JY

Xabi... come home lad!

Agree. Reasonable thoughts on players in esp Clasie. Still not sure the fee/wage for 30 y/o Xabi would be worth it. Buzz off him though. Just saying.

23 Jun 2012 21:31:19
ed when do u expect word to break on the sigurdsson deal? {Ed022's Note - When Sigurdsson gets back from his holiday - and no I don't know when that is.}

23 Jun 2012 21:28:43
ED 029 how do you know the Sig deal is nearly done. Or is just opinion.

Scouse ben {Ed022's Note - Just to but in, I have said that the Sig deal will more than likely go through for almost 3 weeks now. Am I invisible to this website or what? Shall I just stop answering any questions for you lot? Anyway, enough of me ranting. The sig deal is almost done as he has made it clear to other interested clubs that he wants to play at Liverpool and under Rodgers. Simple as that really.}

I think Ed022 needs a hug :p

23 Jun 2012 21:21:03
here is my opinion on next season although many fans dont like the idea of the europa leauge i think it will be good for players like sterling,coady,suso and morgan to get some much needed game time which will give them valuable experience of europe.also the prestige of winning it has risen in the last couple of years.
now on to transfers
i think realisticly we will sign 3-4 players with sigurdson and krasic looking likely to sign also if skrtel goes people are mentioning hummels from dortmund but everyone is forgetting about subotic in my opinion he would be a fantastic replacement that is if he would sign and would not cost as much as hummels i think he we develop our young players properly and buy some good players i.e sigurdson krasic it wont be long before we get in the champions leauge then we can start thinking about cavvani,hazard ,higuain and players of that quality so the players we are going to sign this window are stepping stones to get us to the champions leauge then we can attract top quality players and then get back to where we should be challenging for the title sorry for the length of the post
cheers

Fabio Boroni:

"I am at Roma now," Borini told . "Roma have just bought me, either today or yesterday.

"It's not my business now to go to Liverpool or to stay. I don't know [if there is a possibility of doing so]. For now, I am a Roma player."

23 Jun 2012 21:17:50
This club is too slow, too tight, too unwilling to take the steps required to hasten our return to becoming competitive. An investment of 50-60m this summer, on three very good players and Liverpool would be back competing with the so called elite teams. We all know this, it wont take much, we really are not that far behind, no matter what anyone else says. Instead we will probably spend 20m on three good young players with potential (it means future transfer profit in business yak). And this time next year we will be no nearer to the top clubs and remain a club in transition! Our conservations next summer will be deja vu, again talking about which players we need to get back competing for the champions league places. We are going nowhere in this never ending circle.

We have been overtaken by historically inferior clubs like United (even more titles than us now), City, Chelsea and Arsenal. I know we messed up in commercial areas and these others by hook or by crook have superseded us. But we cannot claim Financial Fair Play, the stadium, and commercial activities are holding us back, because lesser clubs like Spurs and Newcastle with no more money than us are in the process of overtaking us as well.

Soon all we will be left with is competing with Everton for players in the bargain bin (Luc Constinagos this summer, and we were even too miserly to bid for Jelavic in January), and in the years to come we probably will end up sharing a cheap looking 50,000 seated stadium with them as well, Everton have always managed to somehow hang on to our coat tails and eventually our season will soon revolve around been best team on Merseyside. I don't really subscribe to this paragraph, I was just been super pessimistic and considering the worse case scenario, lol.

What I do subscribe to though is, that we should buy the players we need now, and cut the all this three year plan nonsense out, we have waited decades at this point, I'm sick of waiting. We dont need anymore plans like that, because it could all come together this season, if only the will was there. We don't need to wait, we don't need to develop, the club is ready now.

We have the core of a very good squad, all it needs are a few top class additions, so if we were to get these players, it would make us competitive this season, not in the next two or three seasons, imagine it, say it, this season we will compete, but that is probably too controversial, too many people state or rather insist that Liverpool needs years of development before the club can progress (they say it every year). Stop buying into this BS, it just lowers our expectations when we listen to it. Just buy players that are top quality right now and not just potential or potential profit. Any huge club with an already strong core team that has pressing ambition could make this a success, but it remains to be seen if we are we that huge club with pressing ambition?

Kris

My question is who read this and clicked AGREE?!?!

Fully support Brendan Rodgers! Just wanted to say something that has been posted too much on the page from people and its of our youths ........in my honest opinion youth football in England is sick if not dead out of a squad of 11 players you might be very hard pressed to get 2 good senior players......we,ve had some fabulous youth players in the past who've never made it big and have vanished into the blue some examples are dalla valle ,nemeth and Pacheco so can people please think before they post as the likelyhood is that players from our reserves wnt make it ........ There's a few gems like sterling and suso but Morgan will never make it and in my opinion neither will Cody or Silva !! What do you edds think ?

Ed022 how do u get videos on players to scout? Is their a online site that you use?

Come eds what is going on? I thought we would of heard something by now. Why is it taken so long to sign Sigurdson.

Nice header Xabi. Brilliant. On his 100th Spanish appearance. Well done lad.

23 Jun 2012 20:04:49
Well looks like Modrics is going to R.Madrid and R.van see vaart is going to the german league so Aig would play just behind the striker

23 Jun 2012 20:03:41
Skrtel is willing to sign new contract :)

23 Jun 2012 20:03:11
I honestly believe that for the extra £5-10mil we should get Gaston Ramirez(£25m) instead of Rondon(£15m-20m)..

Rondon is a striker whereas Ramirez is a midfielder

Ramirez wouldn't cost 25 million

23 Jun 2012 19:47:50
So we can rule out 2 more players coming this summer, soldado has signed a new deal with valencia. tello has signed a new deal with barcelona.

Add that to diame picking west ham over us, powell chose united and what are we left with?

sigurdson, bendtner and the return of cole and aqualani, disaster. sort it out rodgers

I agree, get a new manager FSG!

Jesus Christ. The only disaster here is having you as a supporter.

The above poster is a idiot, u aint got a clue whats goin on behind close doors its so called fans like u that give us true red fans a bad name, rodgers aint even warmed his seat yet n your havin a go!!!!!!

Oh grow up! No one really knows WHO our transfer targets are. Let's just back the squad we have and who come in, like we bloody well should do!

You're right there's only 8 players in world football. Damn if only we'd got Diame he would really have turned us into world beaters. CQ

Think I will reply to this before one of the ed's do. Your an idiot! Reserve your judgement on facts not speculation. Although you have to actually have a brain to think like that, something you clearly don't have! We don't need supporters like you!

Please just stop.if players sign new contracts at their respective clubs then so be it.we weren't in for diame under rogers and neither you nor i or anyone else know who are our targets, bendtner or not. have sum patience. clever signings with potential is where were at right now

I think you shouldn't bother posting- you're either an person or a wind-up merchant!

Mrpjd

So a footballer picking 1st team football two players signing new deals when they didnt want to leave.bendtner will never happen and sigurdsson is class grow son.DORSET RED

Sort it out Rogers!! What sort of pathetic statement is that? Give the new manager a chance. The transfer window has not yet opened , and we have idiots like you getting on B Rogers back. What would you have him do put a gun to these players heads and force them to sign. Give him a chance and lets just see how the season pans out. Then you can give an opinion on the manager.

Elmo96

Who expected Rogers to attract anything other than the Dregs

The only bad thing abou this forum is that people with the brainspan of a turnip can find it

Here's a little post to all the negative tits having ago at rodgers before he's even begun.

First of all you have ago at possible targets which the papers tell us about.
I'm pretty sure the papers haven't got a Fecking clue who we are after its just s**t to fill there papers with.

Sigurdsson played an absolute blinder for swansea last season and imo would be a good addition to our squad.

Where not in a position to compete with chelsea or man city in the transfer market fact.

This is rodgers biggest job to date , and I'm sure he will go after the best players which he can buy.

LAVERS

Agreed.....I for one am excited about the coming season. LFC and BR have their transfer targets and I'm sure they will do their best to get them, but we only want players who want to play for us let the mercenaries go to city or chelski!
Jim22

LAVERS, good point about this being his biggest job and going after the best players FSG will let him buy. I am sure that he will not want to take big risks in his first season. He will most likely go after the best quality he can get. That reassures me a bit. Good post.
Coley

Well said my friend..pow

We need benitez 2 atracket players, im sure wif benitez goin 2 da markeet 90% of our target wouldve been thinking playing 4 benitez, player c whos the manager and no the team.

Benitez only attracted players because he gave them ridiculuos wages. stop calling for him back he isn't as good a manager as you people say. we were really a 2 man attack under him. despite the money he spent we had no depth. he was also soo defensive and for some reason people say thats good tactics. he was decent with us but that is over.

Liverpool's scouting network needs a good kick in the butt. It does not even need to be so extensive at least for potential first teamers for a reasonable fee. Watch for chatter on the web about potential player availability (easier to get if they want to move). Check their game stats, physical stats (size, weight, speed, injuries, etc.) Watch highlights looking for technique, ball control under pressure, speed plus the attributes key to the position to narrow the field. Then go through any personal information on the player to try and avoid potential personality time bombs and see their general personality would fit the team.

At that point go through game film and call any contacts that you may have that have seen / worked with him before. Then make an offer at the right time and though the player may not work out long term for the team their value will most likely rise so it is a no lose situation. The old school scouting networks are archaic and this finding "gems" in South America does not fit into the EPL anyway. The players that have come for cheap from South America and became stars generaly go to less physical leagues where they can develop their play and may then adapt to EPL level.

krasic has been mentioned lots of times and sorry for asking about him again but how serious is our intrest and do you think a bid could actually be launched to sign him as he is a brilliant player fits into rodgers style but however goes to the ground very,very easily
cheers
lfc liam {Ed022's Note - I will cover it tonight when I profile him.}

I think we will sign Krasic ed seems to often mention him.

23 Jun 2012 17:21:56
Eds we are not making any moves. We are sitting quiet. Does it mean that we are scouting euros and other internationals or fsg playing cards very near to chest? {Ed022's Note - How do you know we aren't making any moves?}

Because we haven't signed anyone Ed! {Ed029's Note - Maybe because the window isn't open yet

Ed. Although the window is not open yet many teams are agreeing deals with their targets yet we seem to be sitting back and doing nothing.I only hope that the players that we want have been spoken to and deals agreed and the media have not got news of it yet but it seems like the club is dragging its feet as usual while all the better players are being signed why is it that with a summer or winter transfer window we seem to do our business at the last minute and always pay over the top prices

23 Jun 2012 17:21:22
edds why dont we bid for nani hes unhappy at man u still a kid an if they get james rodreguez hes going to be pushed out even more at man u still the best an most versatile winger in our league and about 19m would get him if he hand in a request id love him at liverpool {Ed022's Note - I'm not going to answer this, as I'll leave it to others to do it.}

You really want nani-pads to play for liverpool.
Red Branch

One word: heinze

Nani is useless, just because he does a step over doesn't make him good, he can't cross, doesn't score enough, and is a natural tit.

G BOX

Allow me because hes utd think of all the times in that dressing room fergie woulda bin pepping them up to play us and theyd be laughing at the condition our club WAS in funk that it would be like banging your brothers ex its just wrong.nuf said..

I wish we could sign a player as quality as Nani. Knowing FSG we'll proabably have to settle for a second rate player like Krasic, Rodriguez, Gylfi or Heskey!

What rodriguez?
above post

I hope we don't get a player of the quality of nani. he is so inconsistant and doesn't show up. he is full of himself. he spends way to long on the ball. he doesn't protect his fullback. he has a month long spell of playing well every year and people seem to think he is class then. he isn't he is just a typical overrated united winger.
derryred

James Rodriguez is a sexond rate player, just how did you come to this conclusion??

Corvin {Ed005's Note - I guess you watch him regularly.}

23 Jun 2012 17:15:29
Hi Ed's.

It's all gone a bit quiet around the web regarding Krasic.
Have you got any updates? Cheers Guys. {Ed022's Note - No updates thus far, although I will upload a profile on him tonight.}

23 Jun 2012 17:02:17
If Martin Skrtel leaves for Man City don't expect a player coming the other way. The wages that City pay, would likely be in excess of what FSG would consider as value for money. So no Adam Johnson or anybody else, not that I would want City's cast offs anyway. Need a goal scorer, box to box attacking midfielder and a right sided midfielder. We need quality not quantity. Three top players and more from last season's buys and hopeful of a serious top four challenge.
Victor

What would you think of Munian sigardson and Lukk de Jong plus let go of aqua cole maxi etc to reduce the wage bill. The transfer fees shouldn't be a major issue as they will likely double in about two years. Would you agree with these players ed?

Thanks {Ed022's Note - Possible but unlikely.}

Listen lads i would just like to point out if a player moves from city to liverpool he can expect a wage cut the same way if a player goes from us to them he gna want a rise come on this is obvious remember maxi took a cut when he joined from athletico

You don't take a wage cut to go from Man City to Liverpool, i mean it would be bad enough that it would be that it would be a backwards step anyway, so why would anyone from City take a wage cut!

Well because one club is insanely rich and the other is not..behave

Plus its only out of favour players being linked why would they ask for the same money there getting paid at city there not good enough

BR was in Irelands Fair Isle earlier this week as he has a relation that is getting married in a few weeks time and he was walking in Stephens green Park with a few people when I overheard them talking about transfers out of the Club.

Anyway brendan and his entourage ended up in Foleys a well known watering hole not far from this park where further disscusions took place about transfer since the place was noisy BR thoight he could talk in complete confidence to his friends. While the music in Foleys was loud I overheard Brendan Confirm the Following:

AC would be off to Bayern and on the 7th July at 3:20PM he would be unviled as a bayern players the fee is 32.6M, Bayern want Andy to work in Tamden with Mario Gomez to work like pistons in a pronged attack.

Stewie Downing would be off to Malorca for a fee of 19.8M and he will be unveiled as their player on the 9th July at 10:42AM.

Jordan Hnderson will join United for a fee of 22.9M and he will be unveiled on the 3rd July at 14:07pm.

Charlie Adam will be joining West Ham for a fee of 9.8M. Couldn't hear at precisely what time he will be unveiled though.

These are definites, you can go to Paddy Power and put the house on them.

The Sure Thing.

Leading the way in LFC transfer talk. {Ed022's Note - Why do people like you just take pleasure in wasting people's time? Please, just get a life.}

As soon as I saw 32.6m for Carroll, I stopped reading.
stop posting rubbish, get a life.

Ed022 loooooooooool you said exactly what I was thinking tho I was saying a lot more about this tine waster which I won't mention. Thanks for making me laugh Ed022! Also want to say fantastic is Alonso playing! I wish one day he would come back to us!
Alsky {Ed022's Note - Cheers.}

Mate, I thought it was a reasonable point in a jaffer sort of way. We would all love to get that money back for those players. Good way of putting it.

I need a life?

You dry bunch need a sense of humour?

Which is more important? {Ed022's Note - If you don't have a life, then you can't have a sense of humour.}

Well obviously I have a life as I am here and if I think therefore I am?

So that solves that then (that I have a life) it still leaves you with no sense of humour madame.

Ed's any chance of Busquets?

Youthy {Ed022's Note - God I hope not, he's an awful player.}

Awful player? Because Barcelona have awful players in there first eleven

Why would you want that lump of lard?

So awful that he plays for barca and spain

Barcelona could play my mother and make her look half good she is 55 and crippled with arthriitis but with the other players like xavi and messi she may look like a good player

23 Jun 2012 16:08:16
Just read that messi has slammed clubs for not playing attractive football. I have a lot of respect for the guy, but that's just idiotic unfortunately it's a results business and that's why he ended up with no league or cl medals

Would like to see him prove is self in a next league then he will se wat english defender all about chelsea didnt play attractive football and they beat them and win the champion league so he should shut up and just play football he cost them the champion league with is mistake and missing the penalty.

Doesn't he have a couple of both trophies?!

McSnuggles

Pal dont talk about messi negatively and use medals as a weapon.point out one player on the planet his age with more medals.plus he can say wat he likes hes a beast and when he gets hit with a tackle hes trying to scramble back to his feet before he hits the ground.with the way football is today we should be glad we have someone like him to watch week in week out(no injuries)

23 Jun 2012 16:04:46
This seems unrealistic but eds would liverpool ever make a bid for hatem ben arfa since hes been given a chance with newcastle he has been brilliant scoring some ooutstanding goals and has that creative flair that lfc need right now? {Ed022's Note - Very unlikely mate.}

23 Jun 2012 15:28:15
Hi eds I have just read the player profile on junior vicosa and I was wondering, if we were to persue our interest, would we be intending to get him and another striker, considering the level of squad depth we would require with being in the Europa League? Or are we looking at one striker? Considering his price i was thinking it would be good to bring him in and another striker like Rondon or Coutinho (spelling?)

Cheers

Super {Ed022's Note - Well first of all thanks for reading the profile, and secondly Vicosa would be bought as a squad player I imagine, so it would be him and another striker if he is bought.}

23 Jun 2012 15:00:00
Edda if we do decide to let skertle to cit what would the chances of asking for Milner and Johnson. Would seem realistic or get de Jong and Johnson I know swaps are rare but that could happen. Any opinions guys?

Quigz23 {Ed022's Note - It would be unlikely, as swap deals are very rare.}

Its skrtle how could you not know how to spell that {Ed022's Note - Actually, its Skrtel.}

Love it Ed cheers... To poster burned....

Quigz23

23 Jun 2012 14:50:07
Hi eds, do you think Rondon is a realistic target? I think he'd fit in perfectly. {Ed022's Note - Realistic? It's a very very difficult one. All of the people I know are saying different things so it's very difficult to judge. I would say he is possible, but not too sure on realistic.}

23 Jun 2012 14:43:03
Why is my post not getting posted.I have very reliable info that a bid will be made for james mc clean in the near future..
Will keep unes updated when i hear more..

SLYFOX.. {Ed022's Note - I have no idea why your posts aren't being posted. No idea in the slightest.}

23 Jun 2012 14:00:29
Hello Eds do you think we still have a chance of signing Borini or is he likely to stay at Roma. I really don't want Krasic.
If we end up getting
Gylfi Sigurdsson
Fabio Borini
Salomon Rondon
Back-up LB
It would be a good Transfer window. Are they all possible ? {Ed022's Note - They are all possible, but I would say that Borini is an unlikely one.}

23 Jun 2012 15:27:17
Any news on Lucas?

Which lucas

23 Jun 2012 15:08:08
wont be signing many players as the likes of adam, downing, henderson all on good long contracts so they wont be going anywhere even if lfc wanted them out therefore one more midfielder sigurdson, a forward/winger sturridge is all we will sign only other player really wanted is joe allen but not sure if there is an agreement that we cant go to swansea for players?

Cheers brendan

Joe Allen is rubbish why does everyone want him?
Henderson is a better player.

Well he would wanna start proving it then jordan

23 Jun 2012 14:58:58
Have people forgotten what we missed last season we need at least 2 wingers, a striker, back up dm and a left back possibly an attacking midfielder

23 Jun 2012 14:51:08
Doesn't James Rodriguez play on the left wing?

What would that mean for Downing, right wing?

Wouldn't it be better to sell Downing and get Krasic for the right wing.

He can play on both but he is left footed.
Red sheep.

He can play on both, but just not that well...

23 Jun 2012 14:50:40
This might seem harsh, But its a rant out of love for our club...

Dear Brendan Rodgers, Do you realise you are at a big club now? You are no longer at Watford, Reading or Swansea.

Why is'nt anything happening transfer wise?

Chelsea have Hazard, Marin and possibly Hulk. Arsenal have Podolski, Giroud and possibly M'Vila. United have Kagawa, Powell and possibly Modric, Willems, Lewandowski. We all know City will make bit additions to their squad. Spurs will have money from the sale of Modric and will look to finish 4th or higher again. Newcastle will strengthen their squad aswell with possibly De Jong, Debuchy etc.

As i said, Rodgers is at a big club now, Why is he acting like he is still at Reading or Swansea? Sigurdsson, Caulker, Borini (Who are Hoffenheim, Spurs and Chelsea rejects) were all at Swansea. They are not good enough to wear our jersey. They will not improve our squad, Let alone our first 11. We need big improvements to our first team.

Do we not have any money to spend and is that why Brendan ''Save a Buck'' Rodgers is shopping in the bargain basement? Fair enough, FSG will be trying to keep their pockets full after Kenny wasted over 100m on Downing, Henderson, Coates, Adam and Carroll. But we need money to spend this season.

Hopefully Carroll has a good Euros and maybe will get a bit of interest from another club, We wont get anywhere near the 35m we spent on him, But we could probably get about 13-15m for him? I doubt anyone would want Henderson, Adam and Downing so we're stuck with them until probably January. But we could use them as squad players if we improve our 1st team.

As for Coates, He should be given playing time this season, Carragher has been a great servant to our club but we need to get rid of the dead wood, He cost us about 13 points last season. He's a liabilty, Kuyt is gone, Carrgaher, Maxi and Spearing should go too.

I know it seems drastic but we should make major changes this season, The squad is nowhere good enough to compete for Champions league football. Sure we only have Europa league next season because we beat a very poor Championship team on peno's after 120 minutes.

Also, There's a lot of rumours about Reina, Agger, Suarez, Johnson and Skrtel wanting to leave. I hope we keep Agger and Johnson. Reina has been sloppy and making mistakes the last 2-3 seasons, Skrtel would get us 15m and is easily replaced with Kelly, As for Suarez, Id happily take 20m for and be done with him, When we signed him i knew he would be nothing but a trouble maker, Bad news just follows him where ever he goes. He bit a player when he was at Ajax, He spit in 2 other players faces, He cheated Ghana in the world cup and laughed about it and we all know what happened with Evra, Is he really the sort of player you want wearing our jersey and to be a role model for our kids and young supporters? Not for me

This all might seem harsh but i love this club too much to watch it get any worse. Its time to act, We have a new manager, We should make changes now for the future

James YNWA

Very good post that James and agree with most of it.

Took the words right out of my mouth.

Well said, we need to act fast.

neostat

Stopped reading when you said "Chelsea have...". Shut up dude. It has only just opened and the international transfer window hasn't even opened yet. Just be patient we will obviously sign players.

Always with the negative waves, Moriarty!

Just because there are rumours suggesting we are looking at those players doesn't mean that is who BR is looking at. The papers know just as much as us and have pages to fill.

Everyone needs to stop posting these stupid rants and wait and see who BR signs, then they need to wait for them to play before passing judgement.

Why would we sell Andy Carroll? Especially if he has a good euros, we need to keep the squad together. Also rumours about all those people leaving are just rumours, I'm sure BR doesn't want to lose any players before seeing them first.

Thinking of a name to sign off with, any suggestions?

Do you honestly have nothing better to than repeat the same rubbish in every post? This is almost the same as your post on 02/06 - same negative post criticising the same players and arrogantly demanding answers.

If you are that unhappy with the manager, the owners or the players we're being linked with then buy thre club and install yourself as manager.

JRG

Firstly, Chelsea haven't got Hulk, Arsenal haven't got Giroud or M'vila, again the Man U signings are "Possible", also Spurs' signings are possibly, Newcastle are possibly, so really nobody has bought anybody really have they. Then to talk about us selling half our squad and filling the squad with new players who wont know each other and will take another season to learn to play with each other. You speak about Suarez cheating Ghana in the world cup. Just imagine we are on the last game of the season and need to win to be champions, were 1-0 up and a shop goes goalward and Suarez deliberately handles the ball, we win and we're champs, would you be bothered. i know i wouldn't.
Finally all this "Not fit to wear the shirt" Have a word with yourself and understand we are a broken squad and need fixing, BR is there to do this and until he does we are no longer a top 4 club. Who he deems to buy will be fit to wear the shirt unless they prove not to be when they play.
GET A GRIP.

Sooty

I can't believe I spent 10 minutes of my life reading this rubbish
YNWA
TIZER RED

What is the point, do you really think BR reads this site

Best post ive ever seen on here and 100% spot on. Lumas

You chat so much rubbish

Well aren't you a barrel of laughs ! Think I will now go set fire to myself

James remove YNWA from your name. I stopped reading your pathetic, child post halfway. To refer to carragher as 'deadwood' is a f*****g disgrace. CQ

I can't belive it took Tizer red 10 mins to read it

James,

I don't know if you are a real Liverpool fan or just someone who is trying to get a reaction from us. Either way, you have no idea what Rodgers wants to do other than a few lazy rumours and Sigurdsson who is a player we should have targeted just for what he did at Swansea. Also, the transfer window is not open yet, so there's no need to panic. Just in case you are not a Liverpool fan, well I guess you got me.

Canadian Fan

Excellent post james totally agree with what you wrote, take no notice of these people that disagree with you most lfc fan's will agree on this our club is in need of big changes to get us back where we belong. MIKE LFC FOREVER

''Tizzer Red''

Did it really take you 10 minutes to read that?

What an idiot

That post was so stupid on so many levels i dont know where to start il say this carra is an embassador now so your stupid.suarez is the first player in years in our shirt to demolish utds defence (all of it)on his own not to mention getting kuyt his first and only hat trick against utd also.so your stupid how many times this season alone were players in one on one with reina and he pulled the save off loadz so guess what your stupid.

I stopped reading at "Dear Brendan Rodgers, Do you realise you are at a big club now?"

Mrpjd

James mate we are stuck with owners who can't compete in transfer market so forget quality players will have to buy players with pontential and take few years getting back in top4 the main thing is how much patience have we fans got to except we are no longer top4 team or fans at anfield cause rodgers has taken the biggest job in football and we saw when roy was our manager what happen

Kop

All I read James was you whinging about not buying super star players blah, blah ... Even as recent signings as Alonso were not 'household' names before they joined. Let's build a team capable of playing top footy. You just sound like a schoolboy who wants to collect for his Pannini album.

dd

Dd mate building a team with pontential takes tlme are we ready to to be mid table team for few years and risk our reputation. Coz its easy saying we are building but in reality its different especially when your liverpool. Do think twice ot trice coz we are liverpool not everton or newcastle when we lose we are all over in papers. What if we be come mid table for 4/5 years and its killing me to say

Has the days of 17-19 year old lads coming through to become solid first-team players gone?

Are the stakes just too high or are the players not there?

Stakes too high at the top clubs however at lesser teams there are still chances

I think it is easier to bring one or two through at a time when the team is successful.
When you've got so called fans calling for every players head if they even dare try a decent pass and it goes wrong........or not supporting the team even if results aren't going their way, it's difficult to do.
I think we have potentially 5 or 6 very good prospects that could come through, but I think we as fans should hang our heads in shame, as the way we have been acting towards the team these past 3-4 years is a disgrace and they will probably not see the 1st team and have to move on.

Kelly, Flanagan, Sterling, Suso and robinson will all be available for 1st team in a couple of years in my opinion.

23 Jun 2012 14:15:55
Personally I think there is little interest in 90% of the players linked with us and that sigurdsson is the only player we have really been interested in as BR has publicy said he wants to work with him again.

23 Jun 2012 13:38:47
hi eds, just wondering where you see suso's future headed, is he likely to get any first team action this year, go on loan, or will he still be left to playi in the reserves for another year? {Ed001's Note - he will be assessed in pre-season.}

Suso isn't there for the first 2 and a half weeks of pre season, nor is Coady and possibly Joao Teixeira. I really hope we start to bed in sterling, Suso and adorjan

23 Jun 2012 14:05:32
Pretty disappointed about borini...hope the club makes a serious play for rondon..would.be brilliant ...gylfi .. rondon and a good right mid and we are killing it

23 Jun 2012 12:53:04
I know this sounds stupid and will probably never happen but if man city really want Martin Skrltel what about Micah Richards, and either Adam Johnson or Edin Dzeko swap deal. Richards gives a new option in CB and is British so fits in with FSG's player policy, and Adam Johnson is again British and is a winger which is where we need improvement or Edin Dzeko is a world class striker that didn't get a shout at city and would give us a striking option which is a position we are also lacking in.

They probably will get 25m for dzeko from Bayern so I doubt it!

I'll get Noel Edmonds and see if he can re-open Swap Shop?

Enrique, Coates, Suarez, Texeria ( and Adam is a Scot so does not count under the British player rule ) so what exactly is FSG's British player policy I keep hearing about on here? ( oh and where is Sig from? )

Can't see I agree Dzecko is too similar to Caroll. Richards would be excellent, but seeing as City have an unlimited budget Im sure they would simply rather pay cash than improve another team in the epl by player trading. Also, player trading is so rare, I can't think of an occasion when its happened between the top6 in the epl, but I may be wrong
Andy H

Where do you get this idea that being British is part of the FSG model?? There idea is to buy the best young talent regardless of nationality. As far as any Man City player coming to us goes, they would need to take roughly a 50% pay cut and that's not likely either... pointless post!

Said it a few days ago mate, I reckon Micah, Johnson and Milner tho. 3 English we can make money back on them

I'd rather have AC than Dzeco.

Hi Eds. I know its not a rumour but you guys seem to know more than me so I'll ask. Is the scout from city part of this management group that take up the role director of football? If so do you know who else is part of this team or being considered? Hope this gets answered my posts don't always get posted.
Love the site though I'm worried how addicted I am

Jay {Ed002's Note - It is really not that clear cut. His role will be in scouting and co-ordination.}

23 Jun 2012 13:21:40
these james rodriguez rumours are gathering pace, i know he'd cost a bomb but we need these sort of players to get back into the top four. Is there any chance we could get him ed? {Ed023's Note - I doubt it to be honest, it's a new player every day being linked with Liverpool}

23 Jun 2012 13:20:38
Hi Eds,

Just wondered about these players some strongly linked and what the chances are of signing them. I personally think we need a poacher, wide man and attacking midfield centre, what do you think of these;

Poacher
- Luc Castiagnos
- Luuk De jong
- Soldado

Wide man
- Nathan Redmond
- Adam Johnson
- Theo Walcott

Attacking Midfielder
- Gaston Ramirez
- Gylfi Sigurdson
- Keisuke Honda

Personally i think if we signed one player form each of these categories it would be a massive improvement along with some of the players we currently have!

Thanks
Jonny {Ed023's Note - Soldado; Munian (not on your list but he would be my wide man and Sigurdsson}

And krasic is a wide man

23 Jun 2012 13:19:01
We will have to wait and see but I must admit I am concerned with the sort of players being linked with Liverpool compared with other clubs. Whilst we want to jump back into the top four we have a real danger of falling further behind the likes of Newcastle United who appear to have a better understanding of the transfer market. Luke De Jong appears a quality buy at less cost but LFC are not interested. Even Macca does not know who we are after - what does that tell you. Any money in the transfer pot? {Ed023's Note - It's June 23rd not August 23rd - have a tad bit of patience or would you prefer Rodgers to go out and just buy players and not even consider what the squad needs? As I said PATIENCE!!}

23 Jun 2012 13:16:20
ED's do you know if the owners are trying to anyone else on board like they did with LeBron as its a great way to publicise the club through other popular sport heros

Mark the red {Ed023's Note - I read about a year back they wanted John Cena (WWE Wrestler) on board don't know how true that was though}

There's a nice picture of Luis and his family. On the offical site watching Lebron James and the Miami Heat win the NBA title. It was taken on Wednesday or Thursday Mark mate, if anyone wants to go have a look.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

How about Shemas he is a Liverpool fan.

Ahoy - sorry to correct you Ed023 thw Wrestlers linked were Kamala the Ugandan Giant and Coco Beware, Hack Saw Jim Duggan was unavailable for comment.

BOILED ONIONS {Ed022's Note - HOOOOOOOOO!}

Hi Ed can u tell me how much budget will be given to BR. Plz dnt say u have no idea. Just gve me hint. And do u expect lfc will sign st winger cam and def. Thanx ed grt site. {Ed023's Note - There is no budget - each deal will be dealt with on a player by player basis - this has been explained in more detail by other ed's - use the search function please}

23 Jun 2012 12:50:17
just spoken with Rudolffo Borrell at Carra's Bar. Minimal signings this summer. No big spend planned as far as he knows. {Ed023's Note - I love these posts}

Ed0023 its true i was sat behind him ear wigging he also said we are changing the colour of our kit to blue we will be selling anfield to netto so they can make a new superstore we will be ground sharing at goodison and lastly we will be swapping gerrard and saurez and carroll for gibson yakubu and david bentley i know i was suprised borrell let so much slip but he had been on the sauce for a good half hour lol

Wondering if any ed's agree? My point is that LFC academy is in such a strong position now to start supplying 1st team with players on a regular basis. People forget that we have always produced players who have gone on to play 1st team or premiership and championship level at other clubs, guthrie, hobbs, ayala, hammill, spearing, kelly, flanaghan, robinson to name a few. I watch our youth teams on a regular basis and I'm confident that the next batch of young players coming thru will be of a higher level. We seem to be slowly but surely producing better players. I think the next batch of players that will soon be ready like, Wisdom, Coady, Suso, Sterling will be of a high quality that will ultimately save us 10's of millions in the transfer market. I hope this will allow us to use available to funds to buy 1 or maybe 2 top players a season and allow the younger players to plug the other gaps. Rodgers seems to be the man chosen to implement this approach over the next few years. I'm positive we can catch up to the billionaire clubs without spending silly money. It just won't be a quick fix! {Ed023's Note - Young players will get a chance next season, League Cup & Europa League.}

23 Jun 2012 12:48:15
Ed could you see a swap deal involving Borini a d Aqualani? Regardless of which club ends up owning him outright.

Jonesred {Ed023's Note - Not going to happen}

23 Jun 2012 12:42:25
can someone please explain what this blind auction is?

Both clubs make an offer for the player they have part ownership of without seeing the other clubs offer and the highest bidder out off the 2 clubs wins

Lil red

Basically anyone interested in buying the article puts in a bid that is secret - so nobody knows who else has bid let alone how much their bid was. At the appointed time, the bids are opened and the highest bid wins no matter what, even if the seller thinks it's worth more. It's very cut-throat and you can snap up a bargain or end up paying way over what everyone else thinks it's worth.

Two teams co-own a player, when an agreement cannot b reached as to which club owns the player both teams submit a bid to the italian fa(i beleive) , the bid is blind. whoevers bid is higher has full ownership of the player.

Hi,eds. A few questions.
It seems that we may look to bring a new right winger this summer. If this is true then who do you think will be a realistic and good choice? We've been linked with Adam Johnson, Daniel Sturridge(He's a striker but can play on the right wing), Christian Tello, Milos Krasic etc. Who do you think will be best for Liverpool?
Is there any chance of Aaron Lennon leaving Spurs now that Redknapp's left? Can we get him? I very much like him. He's got pace, can dribble, has a decent shooting range. I know he's not the best crosser in the league but his crossing has improved. He's a better player than Theo Walcott imo. Also, I think we should really consider selling Carroll as he's rubbish.
SUMON VAI {Ed023's Note - Sorry to say but Carroll isn't rubbish - Aaron Lennon is rubbish and so is Sturridge - I don't know who Liverpool might sign but if I was gonna guess I would say Krasic, maybe.}

Now AC has got some fitness behind him he started to look more confident towards the end of last season.
He has an absolute hammer of a left foot.
A pretty decent right foot.
Awesome heading ability.
Is actually quicker than i thought he would be.
Is very powerful.
He could become a near impossible to play against centre forward for us.
If we go 4-3-3 It could be him up front alongside Suarez and one other.
A combination of pace, power, movement, skill, heading ability, strength, hold-up play, trickery, deadly finishing and we could have an awesome strike-force

23 Jun 2012 12:39:50
Eds is it possible that we may by Papadopolus as a CB partner to Coates as I doubt Coates and Agger will achieve a long partnership. If Skrtel goes do you think we could move Coates into the first team and have him as a back up? {Ed023's Note - We won't be signing Papadopolus at all and especially not as back up. Coates & Kelly and maybe Wisdom or Wilson will get a chance IF Skrtel leaves}

SAMA is best ball playings reserve CB we have with Widsom a close second.

Wisdom is far better than Sama. Infact, Wisdom is our best reserve player.

23 Jun 2012 12:28:01
Roma had only baught 50% of Borini corntract for €4.9m for compared with Parma's €4.26m. Therefore liverpool need to pay at least 11m to take him. I dont see liverpool bidding for borini at this stage.

Malta

23 Jun 2012 11:54:20
As much as we all want a 'squad overhaul' like last year, we have to face up to the facts that there'll only be a maximum of 4 players coming in (Sigurdsson, Borini, Adam Johnson etc). Any others will be from funds gained from the sales of Adam, Kuyt (gone), Maxi Rodriguez, Spearing and a few fringe players. Also, look at the calibre of the players coming back from loans abroad. I mean Aquilani was a first team regular at Milan and Cole impressed loads at Lille! And there's Dani Pacheco and Danny Wilson who a few years back were the lauded as the next big things! These are all players who can improve the team and squad as a whole!

23 Jun 2012 11:53:30
I see what you mean ed, its just I think its time we start looking for instant succeses and when we start winning trophies then we get the players for the future. Thats just what I think we should do.

Young Red {Ed005's Note - Signing a 22/23 year old doesn't necessarily mean he's one for the future either though mate - they could make a great difference to the team and take us further - the logic behind doing it is ensuring we get value for money in the sense that we get to have them on our books for maybe 8-10 years at their very best and should they decide they want to leave at say 28 they'll have a massive re-sale value and make the club a profit.}

Like when united bought ronaldo ed and made a huge profit on him?

MIKEY {Ed022's Note - Yes, but perhaps not that the extent of a 60 million profit or whatever it was. But just one that will serve our club and take us to that next level, and then even when departing benefit the club financially.}

Looking at the comments section of an article by Phil McNulty about Steven Gerrard playing well in the Euros.

It never ceases to amaze me how many non-Liverpool supporting England fans hate Gerrard. They're panning him for not doing well for England previously (consistently played out of position to accomodate Fat Fw**k - and he was still England's most productive attacker in the last 2 World Cups) and a few are scrabbling around for any excuse to say he's not been that good in the current Euros - some git even saying that his official pass completion rating (87%) has to be an error because he just can't be as good as the Spanish midfielders.

It's ridiculous. I never panned Roy Keane when he played for Ireland even though I didn't like him and he played for the Scum. England fans don't deserve Gerrard. I hope he retires from international football after this.

- Something Red -

I would say that the reason why he is compared to Lampard is because he is not as disciplined as Lampard. Hence the comparision.

Had Gerrard been more disciplined during his heydays, there would never have been any arguement.

For me there is no arguement that Gerrard is the better player technically and talent wise but his lack of tactical discipline has forced him to be played out of position....especially post 2006WC when he was at the peak of his powers....

LiverBird

Hated Roy but he was some player

Its between him and Stevie as the best 2 midfilders of the last 20 years and I think Stevie just shades it.

Liverbird I think it's more to do with gerrards strengths as a fantastic all round player, Rather than his tactical discipline although I do agree with you somewhat. I think gerrard throughout his england career has suffered with managers who refuse to play a 433 and still want lampard or scholes
with gerrard. It's a damn shame. In the same BBC blog someone points out that gerrard is one of the very unique players who could have played international standard in any outfield position. And I have to say I agree with him. CQ

heard there is interest in porto's james rodriguez but he won't come cheap.
If we were to sign him no doubt he could develop into a great player at anfield.
Buy j.rodriguez and jackson martinez, it could be like a colombian connection.
Also heard a rumour that gaston ramirez will stay at bologna which isn't bad atleast we can bid for him next season and it will knock a year off his contract.

Hi Eds & Reds,

DOOM MONGERS, PURVEYORS OF MISERY, NEGATIVITY LOVERS,take a second and read why things might not be so bad after all:

Tika Taka, Shake your Tic Tacs:

There's a lot of people coming on here thinking we are gonna be playing like Bareclona in a couple of years; we wont. We will be playing like LFC. In the immortal words of the Anfield Rap "We'll pass and move to the Liverpool groove". Brendan Rodgers is a well respected coach of 20 years, with a depth of knoweldge gained from seeing how other coaches in other countries do things. I believe Brendan Rodgers will combine his own coaching believes with that of LFC.

For example, we have see Barca pass it to death against Chelsea and not have an end product, Barca dont have a big man like Carroll, who for all the fancy passing, that can lump one in and watch central defenders panic. Which why I believe, that the combination of Tika Taka and traditional LFC is quite exciting.

Summer Signings:

I find it mad how people are bloody negative about this.The Gaffer has only been here for about a month and has not had a chance to assess squad. Currently with the Euros on, South American WC qualifiers on and olympics yet to come, that accounts for approxiamently 10 players that Rodgers wont be able to assess for about 4-6 weeks (open to correction Eds on this).

Then we have the small little issue of the Transfer Window. The British transfer window is open but the international one is not open until July 1st.So why would you bother bidding for the likes of (Bent & Defoe - I said it - dont go too hard on me!), when you could wait til international transfer window opens and a get a far bettery, younger and cheaper option when international window opens.

There are certain posters here who have a fascination that if a player is not valued at least 20 million they must be c*rp. Case in point, Adam Johnson, to be honest,IMO, I think he's overhyped and I think he would throw the toys out of the pram if not in team all the time.

We should not get quantity and quality mixed up.

In relation to those who might be leaving club, a couple of fringe players , the likes of Spearing, who despite having potential for the last few years , has been shown to be out of his depth.
Downing - I think he could be in real danger, with the hopeful additions of Gylfi and emergence of Sterling, I think hes in dangers. Some of his performances were atrocious and a embarrasment - standing with hands on hips after lloosing ball, something Rodgers will rightly not tolerated.

Skrtel:

If he does leave, i've no problem with it, he's 27, served us for nearly 6 years, he's not caused any controversies, only made the back pages and hes been consistent. If he want Cl football and one last big deal before he retires, we cant begrudge him that.

No player is bigger than club, if your not comitted dont slam the door behind you.

Youth System & Finances,

FSG have come in and invested a lot of money, even though there was a reported 50 million loss, things are now going for an even keel. FSG are very smart. For instance the sponsor shipdeal with Warrior Sports, the money from the shirts goes to Warrior, while LFC have sole income from all other merchandise. This will make us hundreds of millions commerically, something we have failed to take advantage in the last 20 years.

People have screaming for new stadium/redevelopment but lets get our financial foundations implemented first of all and then start to implement plans for the stadium.

For all Rafa's shortcomings, the one legacy he has left the club is a magnificiant Youth set up. The fruition of the set up can take up to 10 years, but I am sure we will start to see quality young players coming through.
When you think about it, Carra and Gerrard are the last 2 quality players to come through Youth System.
FSG will invest in the youth system, they would be foolish not too, lets just say in the next 3 years if 3 players came through, who have a bit of quality, this could save the club 60 million potentially.

The Future:

The future folks aint looking too bad at all. We have a new manager who try and implement a new brand of footbal while combining it with what we know. From a business point of view,LFC as a brand will continue to grow and when we start getting the proper financial footing the rewatds can be reinvested in stadia/players etc.

The most important thing we must do as fans,as supporters of LFC, is support our team, management and board. If you look at any team in any sport in the world, success was not gained over night. For instance, I am just after watching the All Blacks hammer Ireland in the rugby, many yearrs ago, New Zeland implemented a plan from the youth set up up to the seniors and and have been reaping the rewards since. Good things come to those who wait and have PATIENCE.

So let us walk through the rain, hold our heads up high and we will reach that golden sky

Sorry bout lenght of post Eds, just putting it out there

R_R

Spot on best post in ages!

Have to say I really enjoy reading your posts R_R. Always look at the bigger picture. Would be Bice to have a few more of u in the kop come match day.

Red Rout {Ed023's Note - I just read the post myself and I have to say it is a fantastic read}

Good post.....

LiverBird

He has typed alot but said nothing but - hey its not that bad or that good.

Thanks totally agree

Posivitly Red!

Fantastic post mate.
LMC

We as fans shouldn't care much about how much we actually spend for players after all its not our money, we should look forward to who they bring in not how much FOR.

Good man, a love positive people, how are able to be rational.

A very good post there mate, look forward to more of the same in the future

Can people please stop going on that skrtle is leaving! He is going nowhere. And the same people who think Carroll is pants get a grip, he is class and will be awesome this season he's already showing his potential. End of last season he was a machine and when he's featured in the euros he's been just about perfect. If you can't support our players support another club. If you want Liverpool to spend millions go on FIFA ..... But for the love of god just stop moaning about everything and anything!

If Liverpool aren't spending millions it is a worry.

BthekingB

U may dosn't like but skrtle will leave. he will ask a huge selary and liverpool sure not accept that. I wish we sale him to anzi rather then city.

tottenham will be very busy next week with the sale of luka modric to be announced they will follow it up by announcing the signing of vertonghen they will turn their attention to signing three lfc targets sigurdson who is more likley to go for the tottenham move being the bigger club they will go for rondon and krasic so looks like lfc will have to think again cant compete with the big clubs

spurs biggy {Ed005's Note - Hahahahahahahahahahahahahah I've had a bad morning but thank goodness for idiots like you who makes jokes, like saying Tottenham are bigger than LFC.}

Ok "spurs buggy" let's hear it.
Tell us please based on what are spurs bigger than Liverpool?
I've got a feeling you won't be replying

Chris in Tamworth

Clearly someone has been on the wacky baki spurs a bigger club are you mad. Spurs would drown in Liverpool's history.

Red raj

Spurs are currently a better side than liverpool but not a bigger club..

JK92 (united fan)

Without modric are they even a better side

JK92 here is spurs team
Friedel
Walker
Dawson
King
Ekkoto
Sandro
Bale
Lennon
Modric
Defoe
Adebayor (even though he's leaving soon)

Now apart from Bale and Modric, who most likely will be leaving, who would get into the Liverpool Squad? None of them. They have overperformed and we've underperformed. Now their team is crumbling and they lost their manager I reckon they'd do well to remain in the top half.

Tottenham supporters. The reason why I've now got a soft spot for Arsenal.

lil_elf

They are not even a better side. Liverpool were very unlucky last season in regards to results. Liverpool won another trophy and reached a final. Far better season than Spurs who did finish fourth yes but I wouldn't say they are a better side than Chelsea either!

Spurs will always be inferior to Arsenal (let alone any of the other so called top 4 or top 6.
They are always worried about where they are in comparison to Arsenal.
I remember they beat them 4 or 5-1 a few years ago. There were dvd's, mugs, medals, plaques, hats, scarves etc etc. All celebrating that 1 win as it doesn't and didn't happen that often.

Once they lose Modric they will lose most of their creativity.
I can't see Bale or VDV staying once he goes especially now 'Pay's Tax When He Wants' has been given the elbow by Levy.

23 Jun 2012 09:19:12
Yo people
We are going to sign sig by 2 weeks maximum, an almost immediate announcement when the window opens will be Skrtel gone for about 23 mil, this will bring in funds for rondon to move to the club,krasic and Adam Johnson or Ramirez, expect Coates to fill skrtels gap and maybe Johnson to be on his way out,Agger will not leave.
Cheers guys- agree or not,don't bother me..
Great site.

The way everyone is talking is that we have to sell to buy. Is this true ed.

Thanks {Ed029's Note - Yes, otherwise we will end up with a ginormous wage bill.

Agree or don't both me!

Its good to see you are such an open spirit.

23 Jun 2012 09:08:32
Hi Eds,

Last week, as you may know, Craig Belamy visited Malta for a week holiday. Belamy told a friend of mine "I wish to stay with you (Liverpool) but am not sure if it will be the case" Also he heard him saying that he could be heading back to Cardiff. Do you know if there is any trouble between the club and himself? I think Belamy was one of the best players when he was used. What's your thought eds?

David (Malta) {Ed002's Note - I have no idea if there is "trouble" at all.}

Wasnt Bellers in Singapore launching the new kit last week? Would seem odd to go from there to Malta on holiday so quickly. Why not go to Phuket? Lovely place!!

Seems unbelievable to me.

Red G

I am honest man. He stood in Kempinsky Leisure Resort in St. Laurence, Gozo Malta and i know for sure that he stood here from Friday 15th June and left on Tuesday 19th June. I have seen photos of him together with people I know on facebook as well.

The intrest in rodriguez is coming from talksport for every1 that is askin

Lee

Which Rodriquez. If you mean James, it's a load of s**t. His buyout is huge and there are wealthier clubs circling.

23 Jun 2012 09:03:10
Fr me this would be a perfect summer:
siggurdsson, James Rodriguez, wanyama, rondon, bedimo, susaeta and louvren (if skrtel leaves)

Also clyne (replacement for johnson) and a young striker like morata

So were going to buy a whole new team then, to go with the new manager? and how many new players did we sign last year? This is not a computer game.

Awesome although it is probably unrealistic

James Rodriguez no chance

23 Jun 2012 08:31:01
makes me laugh the amount of people on here who are moaning that diame "chose west ham" over us. First and most importantly i'm ecstatic that he wen't to west ham because personally i think he would have been a waste of time signing and a pointless addition to the wage bill and secondly how do they know he chose them over us anyway, i would be pretty sure that these people know as much as i do regarding liverpools transfer activity and i know hee-haw about who we talk to or bid for. I actually have a friend who works at anfield and i've never had 1 single piece of info from him regarding transfers in the 2 years he's been there thats how tight lipped they are. Everyone likes to read this site and get excited when they get snippets of information about potential signings, me included but at the end of the day unless the club make a statement about it then 99 percent of us on here don't have a clue what is really happening. Eds i think you have type 1, type 2 and type 3 posters on here :) {Ed005's Note - Diame getting regular first-team footie at WHU and a bench player here - that's what swayed his decision. People over-react mate.}

We don need cover for uas if we sign siggurdsson

if ucas gets injured gerrard will play deeper ith sigurdsson taking over an attacking role

23 Jun 2012 08:44:08
hi eds and macca.
just a few quick questions if anyone can help, what happened to the lad Joao Teixeira ? did he play at all last year for the reserves? will he feature this year and where does he play? we seemed to sign him and the he just vanished!
cheers guys, keep up the good work.
harry h {Ed005's Note - As he is not ready for first-team football on a regular basis he won't be playing regularly for LFC next season. Of course maybe the odd appearence in the Carling Cup or something but that's it - if even that.}

What is his actual age? {Ed005's Note - 18, I think.}

Harry, I heard teixeira may have a career threatening spinal injury. Can any of the ed's confirm if this is true or not? He hasn't played a single second of football for us yet and I assume this is due to an injury. I hope what I've heard is wrong as he destroyed our midfield in next gen game. {Ed005's Note - Heard nothing regarding this mate mate as I haven't had a chance to pay attention to the youth this year - hope it isn't true.}

Think I may have it confirmed that I am wrong about his injury, as I just read he is Portugal squad for u19 euro's and will come up against Suso who been selected for spain u19's. So be worth watching that with interest. Add the fact Coady and Robinson in Eng u19's as well we clearly have a lot of young talent as our disposal. We only need 2-3 of all this young talent to come through and will save us millions in the transfer market.

He was on loan to sporting Lisbon

It's not he is playing for Portugal in the U19's

if we get this guy Fabio Borini would aquilarni change his mind and stay.

Hopefully not eh. get rid rid of the lazy t**t hes worthless

Definitely

Sure they could talk to each other all day in Italiano

We are short of a pot washer in the club kitchen so he may come in handy after all, minimum wage + tips.

Morning ed,s and Reds,.I just want to state some point to some of our 'DREAM WORLD FANS'.If some of you take a look at some of the champions across each league,you will be amazed.Had montepellier of france not won the french league this season,nobody would have known they exist,but hey they are the french champions,deafting the mighty PSG whom spent vast amount to win it but they failed,not also forgetting the big guns like lille,lyon,marseille.What i am trying to point out is that,they went about their business the right way(MONTEPELLIER),that is why they are in the position they are right now and that is what FSG and RODGERS are trying to incomparate into Liverpool and they must be given time.And also on montepellier,OLIVIER GIROUD who just move to arsenal,started from their reserve before he came to prominence this season,and mind you montepellier finished 14th,the previous season before eventually becoming champions and it was under the same coach ,without spending a fortune compared to the likes of psg,lyon,marseille,same applies to dortmund in the german league.Finally,my fellow Reds,we should all give our collective support to the new management in order for success to be attained,notwithstanding our differences in opinions,and in so doing we will become great once again.thanks-EUG23'LFC.

The french league is very different to the EPL.

And what has transpired in France has no chance of happening in the EPL

So if thats the plan it aint gonna work, that plan does not need time it needs Utd, City and Chelsea to disappear and whats the chances of that?

AnCo

the staff needs to decide where the weak points are,in my eyes we need a right winger and a striker with pace.
we all could see that our midfield with spearing and adam cant carry the team when we have injuries.so we need 2 midfielders
the back 4 is very soldid only replacement needed for carra.
the point i am trying to make is that we have a strong squad and a few changes needed,we should go for class only even if they cost money.its better we get 2/3 class players than 5 good players.we wont be playing cl this year our only aim is top 4 and we will get it
we were strong last season bad luck injuries(lucas agger gerrard) and suarez out for 9 matches did not help.
newcastle tottenham and arsenal dont have better teams than us.deeper squads is the only difference.
get class in this window and we dont need to fear annyone.
can you imagine a class winger giving class crosses towards caroll and suarez gerrard there for the loose balls.
we are not as bad as the table showed last season.

How can this be a strong team with Downing, Sterling and Carroll in it - GET REAL.

How can you say Newcastle, Tottenham and Arsenal dont have better teams than us? The table never lies. These clubs are way above us in many ways, they have better players and are better run and have owners who are interested in the club, not like ours.

I share your sentiments in regards to our 'luck' last season. Lucas injury and Luis debacle, not too mention the wood work cost us a few league places and it is always good to see a positive post. Anybody else notice the correlation between it being a non-school day and the anonymous clowns replying above ^
There are so many points to be made in response to there irrational, un-informed ramblings, but I cannot be bothered acknowledging them with a direct reply, nor do they deserve one. I can only presume they are young Man-u fans, bored of the lack of humour on their own banter page. *sigh
Davey Liver

I think that team is too right-side heavy.

Hi Eds,

I just read that Man utd have officially signed kagawa on four year deal. how is this possible when the international transfer market opens only on july 1st. (I went through the search function but dint find anything relevant).. {Ed005's Note - Do the rules state that negotiations can't be undertook outside a transfer window? Show me where mate. Agreements can be reached outside of transfer windows and the player becomes an official when it does open. However, more in deph use of the search function would show that the English transfer window is indeed open meaning English clubs can sign players - it opened early June. Try to gather up all you can before trying to be a smart alec matey.}

Don't be so mean Ed005! [FR]

Hey eds

I believe that 2 players may have a important campain this season gerrard and carrol. If gerrard can continue his fine form from da euros into the new season and stay injury free then I believe that a top 4 is highly realstic. With sig coming it would also take mre pressure of him.

Also this may be a break through season for andy, if he can produce the form he did towards last season and improve his ground play then this may provide br with additional tatics since we have seen that tikka tikka football sometimes doesnt wrk and mayb he can use da aerial route at times 2 keep da teams gussing. Its jus my opinion juz wanna knw wt ur other people tink.

We wont be buying anyone anytime soon if the club bank with Natwest. Inconvenient! I have no fags, no red bull and no morning paper. Shambles. Natwest; Un-helpful banking.

I have a question for eds and posters alike.
I still haven't bought my new home kit yet. So i'm just wondering about sizing, my Adidas kit was a spot on fit, i'd just like to know if the new kits are a little bigger or smaller than the adidas one, because all brands seem to be miles different these day.

Cheers.

Red7. {Ed005's Note - I had a problem with Adidas - I had to move about 2 sizes up from my Reebok kit as Adidas was such a small fitting design. I like shirts to be looser so I had to move up 2 sizes. Same size would have been skin tight, one size up still abit tight, 2 sizes nice and breathable. Really feel as if I smother in tight shirts. Anyway know nothing of the Warrior kit mate, it looks looser on the players in the pictures but I'm waiting to see what my bigger mates think before buying.}

Just get same size as old Adidas and it will fit fine

My missus is about a size 16 and i got her a extra large and she says its lovely, its not overly baggy but loose enough not to show her lumps and bumps. lol
huddz red

You cold always go to a sports shop and try one on as well
huddz red

Were the moobs too prominent ed? {Ed005's Note - Why do you guess this based on experience?}

Buy the size you think you are it'll fit it not like the old one where you had to get a bigger size a large is a large and it's comfortable too

I'm a weedy guy and the medium is a bit baggy but sits nicely. Lovely material, paraded at 5 aside and you can't feel a thing

Hi Eds and Reds,
Can you please,tell the name,of the player you were talking about?,mate.
I'd like your answer,
"Ed005's Note - Looking pretty
good at the moment. Expect to
hear news in the next week. I
reckon he'll be a brilliant signing
and the fans will love him".

Thx,
Cheers {Ed005's Note - It was a joke............}

He was talking about Messi, mate... Ronaldo and Ozil look likely to join aswell

Joe Cole will stay at Liverpool and be a bit part player this season, especially if Maxi goes.He had a good season with Lyon and Rogers will get the best out of him. {Ed005's Note - Lille.}

Where have you been, braking news

Braking news!.
Its breaking news.

What do you think will happen with Suso? He's a fantastic player, do you think he'll go on loan or will we keep him and play him in a competition such as the Europa league?

Dare say he'll stay and continue in the youth set-up, he may get the odd minute in pre-season, but i'd say that's it. Don't worry too much mate, when he's ready he'll be moved up and we'll have our own little Xavi/Silva.

Red7.

I hope we keep him and play him in the Carling Cup..

i want to see these stay and moved to first team;
Sterling
Suso
Joao Teixeira (to see what he is really like)

and these out on loan;
Sama
Robinson
Flanagan
Shelvey
Adorjan
Toni Silva
Ngoo

Don't be surprised to see Shelvey play a bit for the first team. He's the forgotten man at the moment, but i really like him and can see him playing more. Then we only need to Sign Sigurdsson and we're set for midfielders really. Maybe another defensive mid might help though.

The worst type of journalism in football is when a manager moves from one club to another and as soon as he does, he's apparently bringing every player he's ever worked with along with him. HOW ANNOYING?!?!?!?!

Just coz BR worked with Borini and he somehow found himself at Roma (on loan from Parma, pssh) does not mean he's on his way to Liverpool. Yes, Liverpool lost their way for a few seasons including the last but type Roma into google and find out their last few seasons and then tell me if you would touch any striker they've had in the last 3 seasons? (Totti is the only exception, maybe) Liverpool will still attract bigger names than Borini. I bet my life on it.

BR has worked with Noel Hunt and Jobi McAnuff (respectively), so if you're lazy then these players might aswell be linked with Liverpool aswell!! I mean, before anyone read this they weren't linked but 'hey presto' they probably are now! Also Rafa worked with the player calibre of Ruben Baraja but the closest he came to Liverpool was probably Elland Road when Leeds drew 0-0 with Valencia, Champs Lge, Semi-Final, 2001.

It winds me up when newspapers like 'The Bun' in particular think 'they know' what is happening in the UK in terms of sport and the General being of the nation, but half of the people working for them are more corrupt than General Gaddaffi! (spelling, no offence)

My point is, who pays, and more importantly, EMPLOYS these people?!?! Where does their rubbish come from?!?! I couldnt chat that much garbage if I drunk 10 cans of Super Tennants!!

MY message to Liverpool fans is please do not believe lazy journalism. Also, after all the issues Liverpool have had with 'The Bun' are we likely to give them a SNIFF of our transfer dealings?!?! We wouldnt tell them if we suddenly decided to become a netball team......they'd be none-the-wiser anyway!!! Give BR and the owners some credit. We are a big club and not a housing place for has-beens and wannabes!

Rant Over. Apologies for any offence caused.

Thanks

Kam

p.s. Fabio Borini, Noel Hunt, Jobi McAnuff, Rafa, BR and Ruben Baraja were not harmed during/after the typing of this post.

Please tell me Downing, Henderson and Adam were harmed while you were typing your post Kam!! Miami_Red

The only people harmed were the ones that work for The Bun and the Daily Fail

Thanks

Kam

I suppose once the "Champions League" teams have "cherry picked" the market of new talent, LFC will finally get down to some transfer business, chase the scraps!.
Sure hope there are still some worthwhile and decent players available, who will move to LFC (no CL football), and ones we can afford. {Ed005's Note - Why are there only 5 or 6 quality players in the market? Put the toys back in the pram.}

Any chance you want the Liverpool rumours page job on a permanent basis, ed? {Ed005's Note - How much you offering?}

23 Jun 2012 00:39:34
On the stadium matter, and John Henry saying that a "new stadium is essentially a myth"(or words to that effect).
Is it not time then that somebody at LFC updated the official website (Liverpoolfc.tv), its a "bit of a shocker really"!!.
Surely somebody at the club is responsible for "content"!!.
Wake up LFC!!. {Ed005's Note - He didn't say the new stadium was a myth, absolutly nowhere near that.}

What he said was " It doesn't make sense to add 15000 seats at a cost of 300M" He's all about increasing the game day revenue from game day viably with out raising the ticket costs drastically. "We are not in London".

We have the 4th highest wages in the league while having the 5th highest revenue from attendance (game day revenue in the league) CL has cost us 31M a year since we haven't qualified 3 years ago. Our youth academy system is outstanding and about to bare fruit. We are 2 or 3 shrewd young, lower wage signings away from being in the mix to qualify for the top 4 and IMHO 2 years away from complying and competing for the games top honours. We are closer than most think, but need to show a tad more patience as a total fan base.

Chi-Paul

It is only a matter of time till ticke prices rocket. As you say not in London but Americans arent at iverpool as benefactors.
The youth structure at any club is a gamble in that the very top players of their generation rarely make the step up and its rare , nowerdays, that more than a couple make the step up.
The theory of cheaper, younger imports is sound but again a significant number fail to progress.
Having said all that experience and proven high levels of performance are a must and that costs money indeed a lot of it

To be fair Ed in his latest statement JH has said "it is a myth that the stadium will improve liverpools financial situation". Whilst he doesn't say there will be no new stadium/redevelopment he does say he see's increasing global revenue as the biggest asset. The statement as a whole strongly implies that they do not see investment in the stadium as a priority at this time.
If there are some posters who might not have read it as it didn't really get that much coverage you can google "John Henry Anfield" it is on the BBC websit I think.
Again though there is nothing definite it just comes over that way.
RNred {Ed005's Note - To be fair what? That poster said that JWH said stadium was a myth and I said he didn't say that so to be fair nothing, to be fair. Henry didnt rule out a stadium or expansion at all, I think he was just trying to quell down the moaning from idiotic fans who don't have the patience to wait on what is a massive decision where the right choice needs to be made and we are working with an awkward council.}

Ed I meant to be fair, there was a possiblity he had miss read the quote, and I was trying to point out exactly what was said. And I agree with statement, what JH implies in his is probably very much political, trying to calm the hype of the fans whilst letting the counsil know that Liverpool are capable of generating funds without investing in the city.
And he did have a good point about our official website really poor this year, last year we had the diary fro the kids tour that was really goodm, That said and done I'm on here all the time anyway Ed.

Does John Henry even have £300m?.
It sounds like 'defelection' to me!. {Ed005's Note - He does, FSG could fund stadiums for Liverpool and Everton if they wanted to but would you splash out £300m of your own money for a stadium? They activly want to get a stadium sponsor to fund the stadium or work something out for an expansion but things are so complicated with planning permission etc.! Ultimatly they want to make the best decision for the club and taking time to do it is best in my eyes. Any decision they make will be in the best interests of LFC. I mean, I don't fancy going £300-400m in debt for a new stadium, and I don't fancy having one half of Anfield looking like a contstruction site for about 3 or 4 years. Decisions can't be taken lightly.}

In the modern climate what is a few thousand ticket sales actually worth when we get millions in commercial deals.

I was reading The Echo's piece on this, and especially the comments page Ed. Some of the more sensible posters are suggesting that JWH has effectively put the stadium thing on the backburners, at least until the team is on the up and bringing in CL football.
His comment that turnstile revenue is not that important may back this up.
But I was struck by a couple of posts from residents (they said they were anyway, could have been Toffess though!) who criticised the club badly for playing a very prominent role in the Anfield district's decay.
If we are holding on again, no wonder the Council and residents make things difficult. You have to agree with that.
It's like a stalemate, with no winners on either side.
The Real KB

That's the reason why were in this mess
the club moves at a snails pace 12 YEARS AND COUNTING.......

Would be a dream if we could get Mezut Oezil what a player!

22 Jun 2012 23:55:17
Hi eds, ive heards theres a strong possibility of aquaman staying put this season. I for one really hope he does and that we give him a shot. Whats the worst that can happen. Loaning him has not helped us out at all other than on his wages. Do we all agree we want him at anfield this season. Agree for yes, disagree for no. Jayo

The worst that can happen is that you continue to not research into exactly why that won't happen.
He is lazy, has a poor attitude, does not want to be over here and the list goes on and on and on

22 Jun 2012 23:36:05
junior stanislas was a childhood liverpool fan, i think he's slipped under the radar. he's exactly what we need - quick, direct, scores goals, cheap and would be realistic. could improve massively as a player given time playing with suarez and gerrard and become a valuable squad player like walcott or lennon

22 Jun 2012 22:44:15
What about Sotiris Ninis from Panathinaikos, young, good prospect and free?

If he is free I can see why his passing in the German match was shocking!

Pretty sure an Italian club snapped him up before the euros. He is a good player, don't worry about Greeces style of play or result vs Germany. Put Ninis in an attacking team like Germany or even Russia and he'd look as he's supposed to, a very skillful player. The only reasons he didn't play much at euros was because of Karagounis and a generally defensive style of play that really doesn't suit him.
