Hi eds,
Is huntelaar a serious target, or is it just bs? and would soldado be an option, as valencia are not having the best of season and i dony think he would be too dear? and what about kevin gameiro? looks good enough from what ive seen and would be cheap, and i think psg would be willing to sell
and are we still looking to sell henderson? over the summer i doubted him and wanted him out, but from what i have seen of him so far this year. I was impressed by him in the europa league and i would rather have him than lucas or allen, he works so hard, hes got good enough pace and is quite good at passing, hes young and hes also very versatile. I hope he stay, i can see him becoming a really good player

I don't know if you noticed, but we're not having the best of seasons either.

24 Nov 2012 17:35:07
Soldado signed a new deal at beginning of season and WOULD be pricey. You are looking at least 25 million for him. Top player though but way out of budget at minute.

Huntelaar is a definite target as confirmed by Macca last week. Id be very happy with Huntelaar.

Ed002, any idea where we got that Joe Cole clone that was playing last night? And would we be able to have him permanently?

United Kolours Of Benetton aka K.Bennett

We have him permanently. Any idea where we could get rid?

I think Joe Cole might still have few tricks up his sleeve but has had the worst luck ever. The hype going into that Arsenal game for him to be sent off in the first half was a killer and ruined his LFC career. Then he finally gets a second chance under Rodgers and keeps getting hurt. The poor guy cannot catch a break.

i wanted to ask ed 001 specifically, just wanted to know what is the case with coates. is he in BR plans, or does he not rate him at all. he is definitely talented but he doesn't seem to get that much games. do you have any idea ed.

Realistically Carragher will step aside at the end of this season. Coates will then be number three behind Skrtel and Agger, covering for both and also being picked when Rogers wants to play either 3 or 5 at the back. He also can cover full back, or allow Agger to cover fullback or be used as a stand-in midfielder. Once Carragher steps aside you will see an awful lot more of Coates. RED LENIN

Ed002 will you please give us a straight answer. Is Cavani joining us or not.

Stop speaking in riddles like 'No, he is definately not joining', 'who ever told you he is joining is teasing you' and the most vague one of all 'Cavani will definately not be a Liverpool player in January or in the summer'.

Is he joining or not, and please give a clear answer ;)

daveevad

Is 'no, he is definitely not joining' not a straight answer? Lol

Riddles lol!

I think someone missed the joke :/

Mate, just think about it. We would all love Cavani and Suarez leading our line. I would also like to be a billionaire, but at this point in time it is unattainable. Where do you see Liverpool having 40 mil to drop on Cavani or Falcao for that matter?
Also the eds have answered this question so many times suprised they even post stuff about those 2.
Andrew

23 Nov 2012 22:52:16
can eds reassure me that these Cavani rumours are complete rubbish please?

23 Nov 2012 22:51:44
My personal thoughts are get Edinson Cavani signed ASAP. He isn't the sought of player who is interested in big wages according to his agent.
Any thoughts?

If you believe that you will believe anything.

Hi eds i would like u to TRY and tell us your thought or any knowledge u have to tell us of the players linked eg, sturridge , hooper, huntelaar, walcott, son hueng min, austin, zaha, ince who do you think at the moment we are really considering since january is approaching? Would u now say sturridge is most likely? Or " who we are focused on most "
Thanks eds

23 Nov 2012 21:15:12
Ed02 I'm not one to normally ask about players, but all has gone quiet on the Mertens front. Is he a potential mover in January and do you think Liverpool would have a shot, or are there some champions league clubs interested?

Cheers

Papa G

23 Nov 2012 20:01:17
Hi eds, im just back from the states and have heard that liverpool are looking to splash 18 mill on Tom Ince and Dan Sturriage. Is this right? Sturriage fair enough but we only got rid of Ince and his medling dad last year

23 Nov 2012 19:26:33
Eds, what's the story with the Chelsea job? Benitez has got it on an interim basis, but is he going to get it full time or are Chelsea looking at Guardiola/Mourinho at the end of the season? Kinda feel that Rafa should not have gone to Chelsea, it will just tarnish his reputation as a manager even more. Chelsea's manager position is a poisoned chalice. {Ed002's Note - He is contracted until the end of the season. I suspect you are in the minority seeing him with a tarnished reputation. Have you considered that this might be him proving his worth for another job in the summer?}

___________________________________

Perhaps, but I personally think that Benitez was hired with Torres in mind. I think Abramovic really doesn't want Torres to be a flop considering the gargantuan fee paid for him.

Rafa is never a flop - Inter team did not want to play for him in my opinion after Jose M went.

Chelsea will get efficient football and if the players buy in Rafa will make them very hard to beat...

Alex F was straight out with a dig at Rafa - that tells you something - Ferguson knows how good Rafa is tactically and is concerned.

I really think that Abramovich doesn't care about money. I think he just loves spaniards with blond hair

23 Nov 2012 18:50:13
Eds who are Liverpool interested in this January? Do you think the owners will restore some of the faith they lost from the fans last window and spend over 20m ? Or will it be more wage cuts and average squad players? Like to hear an honest opinion

23 Nov 2012 18:38:57
Ed02 can you tell me is there any truth in these cavani story's that Liverpool would interest him.MATTYLFC {Ed002's Note - Don't hold your breath.}

23 Nov 2012 18:16:58
Ed002, do you think siem de jong could be a possible signing? he fits our system, he is affordable and is young {Ed002's Note - Don't hold your breath.}

23 Nov 2012 18:07:12
hey eds..

whats the situation with son heung min? i remember that our board wanted a big asian player(standard charter)..are we intrested in son heung min?

thanks {Ed002's Note - A number of clubs, including Liverpool, have been looking at Heung Min Son for the past year. Certainly Sunderland, Lille and West Ham have had him watched on more than one occasion as well. I would doubt he will be available for a January move.}

23 Nov 2012 22:50:10

With Rodgers team taking time to mould and play to the standard of what is expected of a Liverpool team, do you think that FSG will stick by his contract or look for a new manager? Surely given the fact that Hodgson and Kenny was given no time and both had better records at this stage wouldn't it seem right that Rodgers should also see the door?

I think he talks a good game and in his mind knows the game but he does not seem to be working for Liverpool FC. I personnally liked Rafa, Given the money and control that Rodgers seems to have at Anfield i think Rafa would have taken us further. All managers can make bad signings, even Sir Alex has and yes Rafa did but look at some of the signings Rafa made, Alonso, Torres, Reina, Mascheranco, Lucus, Johnson.......Need i go on? Football is a results game and always will be, the amount you pay in means the time you have to get results quick. Mark Hughes has fallen foul of this today. My only negatives regards Rafa was it appeared he could be a hard manager to approach, and could have brought some of the younger players in like Rodgers has but i also think that Rodgers has been forces to bring them youngsters through.

I hope that Rafa's time at Chelsea is spent being watched by FSG and look at replacing rodgers at the end of the season should he not start to turn things around. I think it was a step to quick for Brenden, lovely man with lots of football knowledge but not ready for such a prestigious club as Liverpool FC. Just my 2 pence worth.

Baz

Rafa spent millions give rogers a break he has only limited funds given time he will turn it around

Don't understand why you moaners just can't give your support to the present manager

Singred

With the wafer thin squad we have at the moment i dont think any manager could drastically improve on what rodgers is doing. Fair enough borini he bought didnt really perform and got injured but he is young and needs more chances to prove himself. I dont know how much of the selling of squad players was down to brendan. But i think he hasnt been given the funds to buy who he wants and shape the team how he sees fit, maybe january will change thos who knows. However he has certainly showed good signs by having faith in the youngsters and changing underperformers positions. We seem to be heading in the right direction anyway, he is doing the best he can with the current squad he has to choose from. Roll on swansea that is a real test lets see how we do, hopefully it all clicks into place like 2nd half against wigan. Jdog

24 Nov 2012 08:08:03
As soon as you said 'the money and control that Rodgers had' i stopped reading. Do you have any clue how much Benitez spent, and he was gioven time, despite us being a top four club when he signed and then finishing 5th. He took us backwards before he took us forwards. We just need patience.
WelshBoyDave

Why do people think Rafa spent the money, like it was out of his own pocket. The manager is not the person who says yes we will pay you this or that, that is done behind the scenes. Rodgers stated on taking the hot seat that he wanted control but it appears he has not got that control he wanted. The same with Rafa, he wanted the control yet did not get it. It seems to me that the young players coming in now was signings made under the Rafa regime. Rafa also made a lot of money from transfers out. {Ed001's Note - he did not make a lot of money from sales, most was lost paying up lengthy contracts. Also he fought to have control of transfers and wages and got it.}

Rafa would be better than Brendan Rodgers

I would be better than BR

SAF would be better tha Rodgers

The anfield Cat would be better than Rodgers

Kenny should have been left in situ

I totally dislike BR and his wolly BS

Sour Puss

Rafa needs a lot of cash to operate. he pays BIG wages. he will be a huge success somewhere rich. maybe chelsea if they keep him beyond may {Ed002's Note - Benitez does not agree the wages.}

Great name is sour puss.

with benitez at chelsea, and benitez loves liverpool who reckons he will do favours for us when it comes to transfers in january,,like sturridge or torres even?? {Ed007's Note - If you think Benitez will have any control or even say on transfers, in or out, you're delusional.}

I think he will sell us Hazard for 30p

Buy hazard get mata half price

23 Nov 2012 22:36:12
Funny. The selling Torres to Chelsea scenario worked out absolutely brilliantly (bar blowing £35m on Carroll) and our fans still aren't happy. I'm laughing at the mess over at Chelsea that's for sure.

It could have been a whole lot worse, he could have actually turned out to be good there. Despite being dreadful, some fans want him back. No thanks.

3rd in the table i would love if we were in that kind of mess.

They are 3rd in spite of Torres not because of him

We should try to loan taarabt from qpr with view to buy, harry sold him when he was at spurs he might want to do the same.

23 Nov 2012 20:06:28
why is it that after we lose/ draw many fans seem to think that sacking our manager and rebuilding from scratch yet again will make us better ? thoughts please.
derryred

Infantile ignorance for many and pessamistic satisfaction for others.

Andy K

Why is it after a win (rare as they are) people think we have turned a corner and top 4 is a cert?

Because people are fickle and want results now, there is no patience in this world today, everything is now now now. sometimes its nice to take a step back and appreciate things, like suso, wisdom and the likes emerging into the senior squad, joe cole scoring and generally giving us reason to be supportive unlike some others like to be.
hjuddz red

Very true. Are we in any better position now than when Rafa was sacked? Every time a manager is booted, the backroom staff go too and new players are brought in, new philosophies and tactics introduced. I hope BR is given enough time to implement his vision for the club. As long as come May we have improved as a club (higher than 8th, better football, etc) he should be able to continue his work.

cozinoz

^ Agree, it's getting boring, you cannot blame the Manager when the team concedes with a few minutes to go, especially when his substitutions were experienced players! Ged

24 Nov 2012 00:25:30
This is what I said in the summer before we sacked Kenny. Repeated sackings do not give you long terms stability and results, imo.

Let's hope the board have more sense than to go and do it again with Rodgers.

What did that Irish compete tart say about Liverpool on the unveiling of the Ferguson statue?

Ten Liverpool managers was mentioned or something of thatsort.

I don't usually comment about other teams but love it when Utd drop to the the low levels of shabite like our blue friends. Bring it on, please. European cups speak louder than any words.

DaveyBootle

You's really are bitter towards the manc's rnt u .... i tell u what davey u need to sort ur head out with these european trophy shouts ur like my mate Rodger the Dodger completely bonkers u need to get in the real world , i used to get 18 year old stunners every sat night in the 051 but them days are finished pal just like ur team , get with the now mate them days are over, uve got a squad full of half decent players (and jamie the bootle head) he shouldnt even be allowed to iron the kits him! hes not even a hasbeen hes a neverbeen ! so get a grip bitter reds ur finished just like my chocolate mousing days in the 051

Thats right davey mate, there bitterness knows no-ends lad....
but dont forget pal,the bitters did win a european trophy a long long way back with "there" infamous team of '85....
i cant recall what it was exactly, but it was something like the equivelant of the european zenith data systems trophy,so worthless infact it got scrapped not long after mate, and dont forget about them finishing in 7th heaven last year, because all the bitters i know never stop going on about it mate, like it was some sort of achievement, they seem to forget that we were adding to are infamous trophy haul, while that 7th place wasnt even enough for them to dust the cobwebs off there passports mate......ya gotta chuckle at them pal,ed025 on there site is the most bitter, deluded one of them all mate,if it wasnt for me popping over now and again to have a laugh at him the poor fella would hardly have a post to answer its that quiet over there mate haha

Their really ain't any need to bring nationality into it, it just makes us as classless as them. If the guy your referring to was from Pakistan dont reckon you'd shorten that word or rightly so their wouldn be a bit of a stink. No offence cause I do enjoy reading your posts.
JohnBoy

No league titles speak louder than words actually as you have to win them to win European cups or at least you had too.

His name is Eamon Holmes. Where he is from is irrelevant.

Yeh u mite know he is a fergie loving manc he chats rubbish for a living on tv

Johnboy im not quite sure where he mentioned nationality in the post bud? if you mean the 'dust the cobwebs off their passports' then i think he was on about qualifying for europe! but hey i might be wrong! scousedel

I think youll find he was talking about the original posters comments scouse ed,not rodgers i dont think mate, although theres a funny bit of banter going on between rodger and the bitters on there banter pages lol

Having spent a total of about 140m pounds over the past 18mths and are still midtable at best, why can't we stop all this moaning about ManCity and Chelsea? Yet, we all keep blaming FSG for not spending... I don't understand this irony. We want the best players, want to win trophies, but they won't come for free. I bet u, if Everton, Newcastle, Spurs, even Westbrom had the funds we spent, they'll be in the Top 4. Blame it on ourselves.
RedBeer.

Ahoy Red Beer - from your post I conclude that if you won the Euro Millions you would moan that it wasn't a double roll over week.

Therefore yours is a thoroughly rubbish post Thank You

BOILED ONIONS

Everton, Newcastle, Spurs, even Westbrom would be stuck between the devil and the Deep blue Sea the same as us. Initial outlay just about manageable? High wage demands for the best players impossible.
kidmillions

Boiled Onions ? The man who thinks he's top dog on this site. The kid's got a point and he's entitled to his opinion just as much as the next man, no need to critique every post as if your opinion is the one that counts. And for what it's worth he's correct, in my opinion. Everton are top 4 with net spend of £1.2m a season. Imagine where they'd be with our budget.

Red Beer do you like redbeer?

24 Nov 2012 08:24:02
He's got a point, just look at how Newcastle invested the Carroll money we gave them, compared to how we spent the Torres money.
Also,The figure of £140 million is more than Evertons total net spend since the premier league began.
We should be able to expect to be higher and more consistent,However,we are not,and must accept that.
As demonstrated, there are two ways to build a squad, buy one or build one,the first didnt work,so now we need to try the second.
WelshBoyDave

23 Nov 2012 19:07:11
Why no rumours for us or other clubs for Oscar Cardoza of Benfica always looks a top player

23 Nov 2012 18:22:40
Why can't some fans stop complaining and accept we aren't the liverpool of old..we have been mid table for the last 3 seasons and would be for the next two at least..I don't rate brendan highly but he is the manager and am going to support him..for me he is doing a good job.taking risk with the youngsters, when most managers would have played it safe..the results haven't been that good,he isn't the special one,so we should except some bad results along the way..what I don't understand is most of the fans saying rodgers should go,when they were supporting dalglish to have another year after doing a miserable job..he also made some mistakes 11m for borini was too much for an unproven goalscorer, although allen was too expensive he is a very good player..Fsg and rodgers are laying a foundation for the future,if you can't see that you should go support another club..

23 Nov 2012 17:42:54
Just a question: Rodgers has tried a couple of different players in a front 3 alongside Suarez and Sterling with up to now the most promising/successful being Enrique. Do you think in the light of last nights performance from Shelvey that he could be the answer (for now anyway) to that problem position? As I always feel that I would sooner have him on the pitch than sitting on the bench.
He played some clever little one two's around the penalty box last night and got in for his goal, he's also got a good physical presence. I think he would get a few goals? What do you think? Was Brendan Rodgers having a look at Shelvey with a view to playing him there, I think maybe he was.
kidmillions

Personally I'd play Shelvey and Suso, with some rotation between them. We need a greater goal threat and Shelvey offers this. When we're likely to hit our best form, we need two sitting players and 4 fluid attackers. Those four attackers need goals and invention. Shelvey, Suarez, Suso and Sterling have this. The latter two, need to add composure and goals, but considering their age, we've got some exciting times to come.

Once Lucas returns to the 1st team, I'm happy with Enrique at left back and Johnson right. Both will use their great stamina and skill to push forward and prpvide secondary attacking threat. With Lucas and Allen ws'll have better cover and hopefully not be so open to a swift counter.

Papa G

I thought Brendan did mention on "Being Liverpool" that he would like Shelvey in that number 10 position, he certainly rates him very highly.
And I agree with you, I think Shelvey is a good clever player and would like him on the pitch, would prefer him to start a game rather than come in as a sub, the few substitute appearances he made, he did n't do that well.
Roy

Yeah he has the energy, heart, creativity and courage but he needs to work on his technique. Then he will be amazing.
derryred

Papa G : Good point on Lucas: He wont just give our full backs license to get forward but the whole team will be better able to go forward. I rate him that highly as I'm sure all our fans do. Can't wait for him to get back to his best.
kidmillions

U just dont realise the work lucas does till he goes missing be great to have him back again hopefully he will get a good run him n agger are excellent

Johnson is playing left back & enrique left wing. wisdom is at right back. gerrard/allen in front of him & sterling pushing forward. sometimes the midfield triangle is inverted so the third midfielder (suso/henderson etc.) changes accordingly.

24 Nov 2012 00:32:27
Honestly, this isn't going to be a popular opinion, but I'd put Downing in the front 3 with Sterling and Suarez.

Suso will be a top player, but his best performances for me (against Utd, WBA) have been off the bench. Assaidi has no end product, and as good as Enrique was against Wigan, it was one game and I honestly think he spent the first 50 minutes of it looking unsure of where he was supposed to be playing. He might have a future there, but I think it's a bit early to say that.

Downing, for all his critics has actually a decent return in terms of goals/assists in the games he's started in Europe (2 goals, 4 assists). I think the only reason Rodgers isn't using him in the PL is because he doesn't want him long term, so he'd rather work with Suso who he does want.

- Something Red -

I think its mental. we have 1 midfielder who arrives in the box fairly regularly so what do we do? play him up front so the threat from midfield is removed. stupid

I understand that this is a tough season but..........

At times like this you find out who the real Liverpool supporters are.We will win nothing this season , and will watch the Mancs sitting pretty up at or near the top.

I for one wish for better but only one team can ever win the title. The rest rely on loyal fans.We are in transition and at times it is painful to think of what might have been if we had billions ,and if mistakes had not been made here and there.

But this is my team , and will always be whatever manager we have or league we play in.

Maybe those who constantly look for immediate success should look to a team like city, or chelski who can buy it .
For me I live and hope that we keep moving forward as what else can I do?

The one thing I won't do is get carried away when we win a single game , or cry like a little girl with no socks on in the snow when we get a poor result.

Time to man up some of you.

Kobi

Lovely post! More of this!

The Rob!

Great post.unfortunatly money wins you prices.
just have a look who have been winning the last 10 years.
money wins.
we need fair play rules,a very rich man chelsea/man c when they lose there mind will always beat us.

For the people who want Liverpool to spend like Chelsea & Man City, just remember that in a few years time they will be in the same boat as every other team and will be limited to spending in accordance and proportion to their club turnover. Maybe Liverpool are leading the way and getting prepared so that we are a self sufficient club not relying on bored billionaires and are focusing on developing homegrown talent through the academy. A popular saying springs to mind "Liverpool don't buy superstars, they produce them"

A true fan is there through the good times and the bad, and will support the team no matter what happens.

It's nice to see other like minded fans on here who see that we are rebuilding for the future.

IMH

Just saying that I support Liverpool fills me with so much pride. We will always be a great club.

Brought a tear to my eye that post kobi mate.......
keep them coming like that pal and maybe more of the doom merchants will realise, were the privaliged ones to be born reds
rodger the dodger

Even little boys cry don't they?

"At times like this you find out who the real Liverpool supporters are.We will win nothing this season"

Sorry but that made me laugh

Only one team is going to benefit from FFP and that's Arsenal.

The yanks are banking on FFP, but with Chelsea and man city planning to spend big, FFP is dead in the water, and everybody knows it!

23 Nov 2012 16:21:05
Whats the chance of a loan deal for pato? he's looking for more playing time and we surely could offer it and are in need off a striker. Would he fit BR's team?
Would Liverpool let Sterling move to Arsenal and Theo Wallcot come the other way plus cash? (bad idea in my view sterling definately 1 to keep hold of)

Redadz

Love the way you used reverse psychology with the sterling question. Would prefer to keep sterling, has a much brighter future.

Misdirection not reverse psychology.

Whenever I see the names Darren Bent and Fernando Torres mentioned on this page it makes me not want to use the internet anymore.

Think we should sign Torres and bent in jan

I have a question for everyone I have been told Torres is up for sale for as little as 10m... Sounds like a good valuation seen as he's lost it.... Who would have Torres back for that price? I personally would....

So on one side of the coin he has "lost it"

On the other side 10m is a good deal.

Okay.

Tristan

We can't afford to buy crocked players and give them around £150,000 a week.

Times that by 52 which is about £7,200,000 a year and no doubt we'd take him on a 4 year contract which would work out to be about £28,800,000 over the duration and now, finally, after all that, add on your lowly estimate of £10 million and i think you'd find it much closer to about £39,000,000 million and that's before a signing on fee and contract fees as well as insurance and things like this are accounted for.

So no, i don't think signing Torres is worth it as it will only financially bite us in the butt and for a lot longer than he'll be playing and scoring for us. Suarez or Torres, we can't afford both, i'd rather we stayed with Suarez and fondly remembered Torres for the goals.

We need to be financially ruthless in order to compete with those that don't have the same financial concerns. Appeasing the fans is nice but running a tight ship is better. If we get in a position to do both that will be great but it won't be star studded and it won't be every season.

We can't be led by our emotions 24/7, we need to be shrewd and cunning to get back into the Champions League and even more so to do it consistently. Rafa may have lost it and got sacked for failure to ensure Champions League football but Man City would have dumped any team out of the top four with what they have in their squad now.

Chelsea have a billionaire, Man City have a Sheik/King/Oil rich Country, Arsenal have two billionaires doing the cha cha cha for supreme power and Man Utd has a more financially successful marketing brand than ours.

These are some of the cold hard facts and Torres doesn't fit in with our future. But i'm no expert and if it makes you happy or feel better, then keep calling for Fernando, it does no harm, well other than breaking the Ed's crystal balls every transfer window and the months prior to the window actually opening.

Complete waste of 10m - why not spend it on a goalscorer instead?

cozinoz

23 Nov 2012 22:25:24
To be fair told Arsenal they may have billionaire board members/share holders. They dont rely on them at all, more like tremendous deals like the very recent one with Emirates.

^ "Nail on the head" his wages would wipe out all the hard work that was put in last summer trimming the wage bill, not to mention the fact wed end up paying for his F*****g entourage, personal physio ect! Ged

Torres isn't fit to tie brendan's tea lady's boot laces.

Cuchulainn's Hounds.

I completely agree with you about Arsenal are much in way financially covered by their spanking new stadium, but this leads me to ask a leading question.

How did Arsenal finance and pay for their new Stadium? Billionaire owners i think is the answer.

Well done Lfc u-21 team still unbeaten. Great to see Lucas play for an hour. Can anyone tell me anything about number 5 and 16, as i've never heard of them cheers. redevon

One's an odd number (5) the other is an even number(16) I think:):)
kidmillions

Number 5 comes after 4 and before 6, number 16 is after 15 but before 17 does that help?

I walked into that one of :-) meant player with number 5 on shirt soccerlick (sp) and player with number 16 dershearon (sp). redevon

Didnt see the game mate but I know #16 that came on as a sub is Joao Teixeria. There's a video floating around that I saw of his game vs middlesboro u 21's today. Looks like a right footed Suso to me. Will need to bulk up a bit and get an injury free run of games and bring him through to the seniors over the next 12-18 months. Regarding #5 I don't know who that was today.

Chi-Paul

'Soccerlick' would be Jakub Sokolik and 'dershearon' would be Joao Carlos Teixeira

Socalik is a Czech centre half, just coming up from under 18s to cover Wilson who is out on loan

Texeira is a Portuguese attacking mid very similar to suso, we sign him from sporting Lisbon after he destroyed us in the next gen! However he has been out injured and hast played a lot. I would expect to see more of both players over the next few months.

Hope this helps
K-man

Sokolik and Teixeria?

BthekingB

Cheers everyone. "soccerlick" is the Czech defender. Guess my hearing or the match stream was/is bad as i've heard of the Portuguese kid. Thanks again. redevon

great site i hear allot of names mentioned for atacking options many are un realistic villa lorente and such surely darren bent is an option yeah he wouldnt be a top top name but he can find the net more then most and curently frozen out the villa squad what are your thoughts on that excuse my spelling

Soccerlick is the yank kid we tempted over the pond with sherbet dip.
Dershearon is shearer's love child, conceived in the aftermath of the 5-1 win

Hi eds, was reading an article saying cavani wants liverpool talks. I dont believe it but whats your take eds? thanks. {Ed002's Note - It is a week or two old tease from Twitter or whatever aimed at the world's most gullible fans.}

The worlds best fans u mean ed 02 Tommy Irish Red {Ed002's Note - May be the best (entirely supportive of owners, manager, coaching staff, all the players etc.) but very clearly the most gullible right now. There have been dozens and dozens of posts confirming the arrival of Cavani in January - with half of his transfer fee paid by the Uruguay FA - who have kindly also agreed to fund his wages.}

Right now you say ed?

You mean Kun isn't coming, im sure he will play half a game for city and half a game for us in a pre season friendly come the summer!

23 Nov 2012 14:48:47
hi eds in your opinion who do you think we realistically have a chance of buying January {Ed002's Note - You need to read the posts.}

23 Nov 2012 14:44:20
From reading countless amount of rumours and facts it's looking more likely that it's gonna to be huntelaar, Jeffren and possibly Walcott as our main targets. Any news on Pearce from reading? Are we keen?

RubinRed

Jeffren no goals Jeffren that one?

Realistically, it'll be Tom Ince & Sturridge

trini_red

All these names are likely targets but are they realistic. Jefferen no doubt would be available as he's out of favour at sporting Lisbon, but why would we want a player that can't make an impact in the Portuguese league? Hunterlaar is one that I'm in limbo about, due to the fact that the club he moves to next will probably be his last at a top level so would he not want champions league and title challengers? Walcotts situation is really down to himself, he can sign a new contract at arsenal or move to another top English club. At Chelsea he will be behind a list of players in the pecking order, man city the same. Man united will show no interest for him as they probably think he's overrated. I don't see him moving to spurs because of the rivalry. Other than those clubs he would need to take a step down from arsenal which would be clubs like liverpool, Everton and Newcastle. So Walcott needs to understand he is not in a position of 'all the top clubs want me' its more like 'you will be a squad player'. Sturridge is in a similar predicament as he wants to play central striker and is a squad player at his current team. No top club will want him (man city, man united, arsenal) but spurs and liverpool will show the most interest in my opinion, it will be a shoot out between us two if it gets to that stage. Then there other random names that get mentioned and could actually be on the short list, that's how desperate we are for a striker...we have people like jefferen on that list.... With rogers saying no wholesale changes this could really affect the way fans view him. We need first team footballers not squad players. Only one quality striker is needed in my opinion especially with the return of Lucas, and the eventual return of borini.

23 Nov 2012 14:24:33
Ed, slightly odd question. Do current players of clubs sometimes recommend players to the manager to potentially bring in? If so, can you think of any examples where this has come to fruition?

Cheers pal

ToonRed {Ed002's Note - Sure players will sometimes do that and sometimes coaches will ask about players who they have played with in the past. I can't think of examples off the top of my head right now but I could if I put my mind to it.}

Didn't Suarez put in a word regarding Coates? {Ed001's Note - yes.}

23 Nov 2012 14:22:31
January business

Given our lack of funds I think this makes sense....

In - Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. 6m
Theo Walcott (swap for Reina and 4m to us)
Brad Friedel - nominal

Out - Pepe Reina (valued at 12m)
Stewart Downing - loan
Joe Cole - loan
Danny Wilson - loan
Daniel Pacheco - loan

Forward line strengthened, more pace and goals up front and a reliable GK allowing us time to recruit a younger number one over the next 18 months. We need to get some players out on loan to boost their value.

Who the hell would give us £12 mill for raina

12mill in yen maybe

Why sell pepe anyway ,that would mean spending money we don't have . If he performs poorly drop him jones easy .

23 Nov 2012 14:16:54
Hi Ed ,

I have heard various reports saying that A fee for Cavani has been agreed between Liverpool and Napoli at 36.5m , he will joining us in january ..any truth in that? {Ed002's Note - Twitter, Facebook perhaps?}

23 Nov 2012 14:15:34
Rafa to sell torres back to us so he can sign falcao for chelsea, have it on good authority from sources close to rafa on the wirrall.

With persons like you posting utter nonsense no wonder the reputation of us genuine fans is being questioned

He might want agger

23 Nov 2012 14:06:40
We need to be Patient, i know its soooo frustrating watching us but we are in a building process that will take longer than a season unfortunately.

Positives:

Suso, Sterling, Wisdom, Allen, Borini, Assaidi would have a season under there belt so should know each others game come next season.

Ibe, Sinclair, Robinson, Flanagan, Sama, Adojan, Ngoo will all be coming through next season

New signings to come in and make an instant impact hopefully

Rodgers would have settled in and know his best formation and team hopefully, so all being well come next season we will be aiming for the top 3/4 and win a cup or 2.

BigD

23 Nov 2012 14:02:12
Not going to moan about the performance last night. The only thing i will say is that maybe BR will learn a managerial lesson from last night.

When you score late on and are 2-1 up, maybe you should put on a more defensive player rather than an attacking one to try and protect that lead and kill the game.

Sterling should never have come on, Coates should have come on and made a back 5 of Downing, Carra, Skrtel, Coates & Hendo.

It's only the Europa and it would have been nice to qualify last night, but the worlds still turning and we need to concentrate on beating Swansea. Lets all move on!

Mike in Leeds {Ed002's Note - If you are not going to moan Mike, we'll have you stuffed and put on display.}

Thats gone right over my head Ed......?
I didn't think it was a moaning comment, more a constructive observation. Ah well.

Mike in Leeds {Ed002's Note - Actually Mike it was an attempt at humour on my part. I appreciate it was not a moaning comment.}

23 Nov 2012 16:48:57
Mind you don't cut yourself there, Ed.......

Mrpjd

Totally agree mate, I dont know why Rodgers didn't sit Sterling down as soon as Cole scored the goal and changed his substitution.
I would have brought Coates on and made a back 5 or brought Allen on for a midfield 5 which would have ensured we kept posession for the last 15 minutes.
We keep getting cut open too easily and letting teams run at our back four.
Need Lucas back ASAP so he can just sit infont of the defence, keep his position and make tackles.
Quick mention for Sahin last night though, thought he had one of his better games for us so far, great in posession, better in his tackling and just looked more up to speed.

Jay

Rodger's will learn though, remember he's still fairly young for a manager and has shown a willingness to learn from mistakes already this year.

Read online somewhere, granted not the best place to go for accuracy, that both Manchester United and Liverpool were keeping tabs on Juventus youngster Richmond Boakye, thinking about a potential transfer. Do you know of any truth to that report?

Thanks.

Lee {Ed002's Note - Some sort of gaming forum perhaps?}

Actually it was on Bleacher Report. Don't know how accurate the stuff on there is or isn't. Judging by your response ed002 you don't think much of that possibility.

Lee {Ed002's Note - No, I don't. There is nothing to link Liverpool with Richmond Boakye at all at this time. At the end of last season Bastia, Manchester United and Toulon sent representatives to watch him train (and possibly play).}

23 Nov 2012 13:41:21
i think its time now to get shot of br. we are getting no better. yes he has got the team playing better but the results are not happen for him. if we are the big club that he always talks about then he should know how it works. alot of the players are just not good enough and what he has got in is no better. i just dont see this long plan they talk about working. the type of players we need are players that can change games and score goals. i get we dont have loads of money to spend but what we do have spend on a decent players instead of the crap he has brought in. i lke allen but he needs to up his game and putting the ball foward more.

U need your head checked,i'd make an appointment with the doctor straight away

Kerryred

At last the original poster speaks the truth

13th is unacceptable

Some people seem to think it is normal for LFC to keep changing managers every season. Previous to the last few years, we were famous for picking our man, then sticking with him. And guess what - it served us well. We need the continuity, we can't afford (either financially or results wise) to keep changing managers. We have BR, we should support him through thick and thin, it's as simple as that. The madness has to stop.

Nick

God reading crap this site can be so embarrassing to most Liverpool fans. You really are quite stupid if you think you seriously believe sacking a manager after this amount of time will help us.. Considering we're in 13th place like 4 points behind arsenal.

London red

23 Nov 2012 15:13:41
Nick mate spot on. Its normal for fans to except finishing midtable and asking for fans to support club demise

How can it make me stupid saying get rid of the manger. so you were the kind of prat that backed mangers like roy h. its football you dont get the results your out. yes iam talking to london red. cant you see it is just not working out for him. how long is it you want to keep watching us thowing games away. i dont like the fact we have to change mangers but the job is to big for him and if you have any sense how football works you would see what iam saying.

Ask mark hughes what it is all about

Last time I looked we were 11th.
DJP

Question - why haven't you signed your post? This is one of the dumbest posts written on here for some time, I'd love to know who you are (Your age too). What does this mean?? 'we are getting no better, yes the team is playing better...' You're off yer head mate!

dd

We might be playing better but we are not winning, that is what football is about. so you are off yer head if you think draws, losing is the way foward. iam older enough not that should matter to you. i hope your not going to ask for a photo.

Yes get rid of Rogers. He's had over three months now and no premier league title. Lets see what Redknapp can do and if he hasn't got us top of the table by February, it's time to get Guardiola.

If only Henderson had scored that 1 on 1!

Last night was the Cole and Shelvey show. They were both outstanding. With no striker, it was down to them to get into the box and run in behind, and despite neither being forwards per se, they did a great job.

Shelvey scored a poachers goal thanks to great link up from Cole and Suso, and that back heel through to Henderson! My god, If Henderson had scored we'd be saying its the best assist since Torres' backheel nutmegged Cahill for Maxi to score versus Bolton!

I'd also like to say a massive well done to Suso. Played a massive part in Shelveys goal, and i lost count of how many times he put Cole through. If Joe had been a little sharper (just needs game time), he'd have stayed onside and had 2-3 more! Shame about Suso's 1 on 1 chance. Great idea, he just got his angles wrong. Caught the keeper in no mans land though!

Tbh, the two people who made mistakes last night were Henderson for not tracking Bobadilla (but hey, he's not a right back!) and Sahin/Gerrard for not closing out the Montenegran Rifleman! Why neither of them took the responsibility of standing in front of Skrtel and Carra for the last 15, god knows!

I don't see how you can blame Rodgers, because If Suso, Henderson and Cole had scored all their 1 on 1 chances, our Besiktas record would've been under threat!

YNWA! (Adam)

Henderson makes a terrible right back man he sucked last night!

When Henderson was through one on one the keeper saved it. That's what keepers do? If only ours did.
kidmillions

We have to be patient.
It was not the best result yesterday but we can still qualify. For me Brendan Rodgers made a mistake last night in not playing our strongest side. We would have beaten Young Boys comfortably and probably been able to take suarez etc off after 60 mins or so with the game done and dusted. There was no travelling involved so the players would have been fine for Swansea game. I suppose Brendan thought that our reserves beat them in Switzerland and really should have won again last night if it was not for a little bit of naivety in the last 10 mins and 2 great goals from the opposition. Their fans were brilliant and that banner (and the response to it) was fantastic. Well done Young Boys...
I think we now need to play the strongest possible team in Udinese to go through. I want us to be involved in europe after chrimbo and this is a competition which we can win whilst giving the youngsters valuable game time. Although last night we should have played the Big guns for an hour but it's all opinions!

PS
Ed002... are you Andy Jacobs moonlighting from xxx in order to continue your anti-liverpool bias?? Only joking fella.... your thoughts on Benitez as well please Ed002? thanks {Ed002's Note - I asked and my wife says I am not Andy Jacobs. I have not particular views on Benitez. Like me he could shed a few pounds and the old Captain Beefheart beard is a little passe nowadays.}

Patient for the last 21 years

Well its like listening to a load of women( no disrespect)on a bingo night moaning winging, did you honestly think it was going to be that BR would come in and undo KK,s mistakes because lets be honest he made a few.BR has inherited most of his squad and has to make best of it until he can get his own players in which is going to take 2 years in my way of thinking, fergie took 5 years to get going and they almost sacked him,we,r not half way through the season and your calling for BRs head grow up and do the genuine supporters a favor and go support (annoy) some other team. rant over .liverpool 3 swansea 1

Thats funny as Ed002!

23 Nov 2012 13:11:40
Question for eds:

I assume Downing will be for sale/loan in January, Cole the same. Or are we too thin at the moment to even lose these players who clearly do not fit in?

Not to slight Cole, as I think he played his best game for us against Young Boys, but even so, he really brings nothing to the squad.

I don't want to slight Downing either, as surely he is aware that he was never worth a quarter of the fee we paid for him, but I think getting rid of him would strengthen our squad. He adds nothing. {Ed052's Note - Downing will be up for sale. A loan would not really be satisfactory otherwise we could have let him go yesterday tbh. Cole again will be up for transfer yes.}

He set up a goal last night and scored 1, clearly he adds somthing.

23 Nov 2012 18:55:22
He adds to the wage bill, he had an awesome game last night though, but too far and few in between, we can do much better, much cheaper and a lot younger. Leem

23 Nov 2012 13:09:48
Tom ince 6m
Sturridge 12m

Maybe: huntelaar
Walcott

23 Nov 2012 13:06:56
I will add MY moan...why is the site constantly and consistently filled with moaners? ...This player is no use
that player is hopeless....the manager/owners are useless...
The greater proportion of posters seem to be kids who think (a) they know more than the professionals, and
(b) there is a quick fix to everything.

Go and play at some xbox- thingy and leave this site
to adults... Oh- if there are any 'adults' I have offended by this - act your age

Puzzled

Im sorry i forgot the season is going so well there is nothing to moan about

23 Nov 2012 13:38:06
Puzzled mate reality is Liverpool fans are trying to agest being midtable team which will take sometime.

Some fans think 13 in the table is good for Liverpool fc

Some fans think 13 in the table is bad for club like Liverpool fc

Some fans think finishing 7-8 is good for Liverpool fc

Some fans think finishing 7-8 is not good enough for Liverpool fc

Some fans think Rodgers should be judged on results

Some fans think no Rodgers Shouldn't be judged on results as his building for future

Some fans say we are tired coz we have been saying the same for 20+ years we are building for future etc etc

That's why a lot of moan and whine is happening mate. Its tough for any liverpool fan at the moment

We r not a mid table team and will never be.

No Liverpool fan thinks finishing in that position is good.
Some are realists though and believe after what the club has been through in the last few seasons it's acceptable as long as we are building towards something.
We were hours away from administration and that could have really ruined the club.
We could just as easily be looking at the club now and wishing we were still in the premier league.
I would take 7th or 8th over that.

MIKEY

We are 13 pts off the top and we are 11 pts off the bottom. I'd say that is bang mid table. Its a good job the season does not end next week. In fact last time I checked the season does not end for another 26 games!!
I think we are not far off where we need to be and if Brendan Rodgers has us anywhere between 0-9pts away from champions league football come the new year then he will have done a great job.
jonnybarnes89-90

Add the points at the end of the season. We are the 8th best team in the league right now, not the 13th

23 Nov 2012 12:45:11
Alright guys/Ed's.

Seeing all these untrue links to Cavani and the likes recently has got me thinking. Is it ever going to be possible for us to compete with other clubs to sign these 'world class' players? I hear that with the likes of Cavani, even if we were interested, your Chelsea's and City's would happily just offer more money. So, with that, if next season Liverpool miraculously managed to win the Premier League and even Champions League... would we even then be able to attract star players when you have other clubs offering massive wages?

Do we want to attract those 'type' of players? Looking at the likes of Joe Allen and Fabio Borini, they're realistically far from the star talent teams like Chelsea/City have (although I'm not complaining - I actually really like the look of Allen, and with Borini I feel optimistic).

I'd do anything for Liverpool to be the #1 Premier League team again, but is it actually possible with the money that's getting thrown around nowadays? I'm not saying I want Liverpool as a club to turn into one similar to Chelsea or City, but is it possible to compete with these teams for the #1 spot in the Premier League anymore?

Please don't mistake this post as a negative one; it's more to see what views you have one this 'issue'.
Would appreciate your views!
Thanks, Ell.

A few points come into play:
Not ALL players will go for the highest salary
earning 4 million a year instead of 6 isn't bad?
Not all players will go to ANY club that their own club wants to sell to !
The big-money clubs can still only play 11 at a time and many of the 'star' players expect to play whenever they are fit...with a wealthy club top stars they know they will be on the bench a fair bit.

Puzzled

The fair play rules come soon right?

We are going to produce our own world class players from the academy and under 21s. We just need to hold onto them and not sell.

23 Nov 2012 11:55:36
What makes you think we have the right to beat every team we play? and who says we wnt go to italy and win? we have four games in ten days mate and everybody on here thinks league is more important than europa so in effect he has to utilise his squad. dnt you think anzhi will play for pride also and try to win group comfortably? to negative mate!

ian the red

We don't have the right to beat every team. The fact is that this match should have been started with a stronger team to ensure qualification to the Last 32. It annoys me that some fans dismiss other competitions willy-nilly. If Liverpool are going to take part they should be whole-hearted and try to win every game. If we had won last night there would been no need to put a strong team up against Udinese which is going to happen now. Do you honestly believe that if Liverpool had now qualified (as they should) that Rodgers would put out a team to play for pride. That doesn't happen - look what happened in the week with Stretford Wanderers! I was brought up with a Liverpool team that played 60+ games every year with the same players taking part in every minute. I know those days are gone but please don't have sympathy for these fit young men playing four games in ten days. The only thing that I would demand from Liverpool is that they play EVERY F.A.Cup game with a full-strength team. They have failed to do that too (two o's!) many times over the last twenty season and I consider that a great insult to the 96. KTF
Ben Terug

To be fair mate we were winning 2-1 with two minutes to go and both their goals came on the break. all this negativity from most supporters is slightly unjust and had we won it would have been a case of 2 wins on the trott we are on the up. people literally sit and wait to get their claws into br and its not fair! i agree that back in the day we played with a squad of 12 but the game has changed as we know! i never dismiss a competition i would love us to win everything that we play for but there is a lot of supporters that arent to fussed about the europa league. i was at the game last night and the need for a striker is paramount as we had good chances to kill it off with a weakened team but didnt take them, two worldies later and we still havent qualified. if we win in italy all will be forgotten, have a little faith pal!

ian the red

I fully agree with Ben Terug. All competitions should be taken seriously. Not doing so detracts from the club's reputation and pays scant regard to the ethos established by Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley. One of the things I enjoyed about last season was the fact the cup competitions were taken seriously. Travelling down to Wembley was a great experience. Let us hope that, if the squad can be strengthened, next season Liverpool will prove to be more competitive again.

Red Owl

Liverpool fc exist for one thing only to win games .

Pity we don't know how to do that then.

23 Nov 2012 11:54:47
i have seen sahin play several times now,i do not know what he brings to the team.
and quates should be playing in the EL,we all know what carra can do.
he played with cole and downing to put them in the window, downing is a winger not a defender, henderson is a midfielder same story.

Sahin is a quality midfielder, who I would liken to Arteta. Nothing fancy, but gracely moves the ball around and can score the odd goal. The issue isn't with his ability, which he has in abundance, it is in developing a team where his role is well defined. At times he is holding player, other times more advanced. He clearly isn't a guy to 'pull the strings'. However, you put him along side someone like Goetze, and have Lucas watching their backs, and you would see how good Sahin can be. Unfortunately, Goetze would cost 35 million and we wasted that on Carroll.

23 Nov 2012 11:54:47
Eds, what's the story with the Chelsea job? Benitez has got it on an interim basis, but is he going to get it full time or are Chelsea looking at Guardiola/Mourinho at the end of the season? Kinda feel that Rafa should not have gone to Chelsea, it will just tarnish his reputation as a manager even more. Chelsea's manager position is a poisoned chalice. {Ed002's Note - He is contracted until the end of the season. I suspect you are in the minority seeing him with a tarnished reputation. Have you considered that this might be him proving his worth for another job in the summer?}

Ed002, Tony Evans (a journalist who I dislike) insisted today that Benitez actually has an 18 month contract but with a "get out clause" for either party after 7 months should either side be unhappy.
I'd love to hear that he's talking nonsense again

Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note - Nope, he has a contract until the end of the season. Should both parties agree to extend it after that thay can within the constraints of the existing contract. The statement from the club and the Press Release are pretty explicit. Chelsea made it abundantly clear to the BBC that them stating there is a "Guardiola escape clause" or whatever is entirely incorrect. He seems to be coming at this from the other direction.}

Have to agree with the ed on this one, perfect opportunity to prove his worth and get himself back out there and also have to say best of luck to him . Ollivander YNWA.

Thank you Ed002, it never surprises me to hear that a journalist is twisting the facts

Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note - Journalists never twist the facts Chris - perhaps "re-interpret" is better: "a hail of bullets from the kalashnikov sent the government spymaster spawling across the marble floor of his country hideaway" sound so much better than "gin soaked TV licensing cleric accidently shoots himself in Essex Travellodge whilst cleaning gun before rabbit shoot".}

Funny as always Ed

Benitez sacked his assistant Pako Ayasteran for being friendly towards the Chelsea bench after a game, the guy has never had any class but that's not a requirement for being a successful Manager! He also got rid of Xabi a guy who has so much class he'd never go to another EPL team. Ged

Hang on a minute, i was under the impression that Pako Ayasteran refused to lengthen his contract and wanted to return to Spain for family reasons.

Can some give some clarification please?

i have aquestion why did we play shelvey up front for over ahour ,weres morgan , ngoo, yesil, that was agame that would of helped with there progression ,dont understand why there not geting achance especially inthe euro league, look dont get me wrong br is doen agood job he needs to give some playen time with first team not agame here & then another game amonth down the line,&how is he not pulling his hair out when were passing side to side to defender to keeper & back again, its wasten time were goen nowhere & its leading to mistakes thats costing us games, itll be interesting to see who br brings in ,in jan & to see if owners back him or not ,we need to spend this window cause were so far behind its worrying IRISH RED

Could have been to help his confidence in front of goal and give him a try. You never know till you try.
Sterling,Suarez and Shelvey against Swansea could be a possibility?

Why did we play Shelvey up front?

Because he can score, and did score. That's why, the more he plays in an attacking role the more attacking he will craft his game to be.

He reminds me of Matthew Le Tissier.

not sure it was posted? but on behalf of THFC i would like to thank all fans from clubs across britain and europe for their kind and well thought messages regarding our fans in rome! the mindless attack inflicted on them by lazio fans was unprovoked and cowardly, it left one supporter fighting for his life and another supporter well into his 60's badly cut and beaten, two so called ultras have now been charged with the attempted murder of the critically ill spurs fan, francesco lanari & mauro pinnelli have been charged despite lazio officials still claiming it wasn't their fans?, around ten spurs fans were savagely beaten by around 100 ultras brandashing knives, steel bars, knuckledusters and bottles. again we thank all supporters across britain and europe for theri kind thoughts and comments

Eds how do fans in rome get away with it. if this happened in england, english clubs would be in huge trouble. i remember a few years ago same thing happened with man u fans. they were treated very badly by the police as well from what i remember, it was a disgrace. what happened- nothing.

B O H {Ed002's Note - The clubs don't necessarily get away with anything and will be punished if right (and then if possible). However, whilst there have been problems with fans of certain clubs, in Italy with one club in particular, many of those involved in the problems that we have seen over the years (violence, hate crimes) are not fans of any one club. The fans are joined by groups with extreme neo-political affiliations hiding behind convenient and somewhat conceptual mask that they are simply fascists - which in the eyes of many, most I hope, is bad enough regardless. If you go back to 1993 there was a lengthy piece written about a really nice Dutch guy called Aron Winter (now coaching at Toronto) that explained the problems he had in his first year at Lazio. I am not sure how easy it will be to access on-line but it does look at these problems in some detail. Around the same time there was an artivle in the Times or Telegraph supplement by a reasonably well known "entertainer" (and all round nice guy) describing as a child how he watch his grandfather sew razor blades in to the brim of his trilby hat that he would wear to games. That would have been in London in the early 1960s I guess. I will let this subject run a bit, but we have to be careful wear it heads.}

I am getting sick and tired listening about the philsophy of Brendan Rodgers and developing a style of play. Also that we are rebuilding but we are progressing. I feel that as a supporter that spends thousands following the team home and away I am being conned. Should I have a reduction in the cost of attending matches until I see a return on my investment.

1. Firstly we have a small squad due to FSG and Brendan Rodgers. Between them they allowed experienced players such as Bellamy, Maxi, Carroll, Kuyt to name a few to leave the club without adequate replacements.
2. For a club of Liverpool's stature to not start a match with a recognised striker is a disgrace
3. Liverpool FC is a huge club and should not be sitting in 13th place. It would not happen at any other club. This is a results industry. When we have developed how far ahead will the other clubs be.
4. Dont forget last year we won a trophy and appeared in a final. Finishing 8th was not good enough. We sacked the mgt team. The coach is now in charge of the team in 4th and beat us 3-0. Will Rodgers be sacked after Christmas if in similar position to Dalglish and Hodgson.
5. Depending on investment in Janaury some serious questions need to be asked about the owners. Also do we trust Rodgers to spend the money wisely - Borini is a clue

U mean caroll experience players.......
cant understand what exactly u saw in caroll over the past 2 years..
people criticize torres is dead..past, difffused..
he is 10000 time better than caroll any day...

After looking Rodgers want sturridge I'm afraid coz thise kind of players are going to be his downfall.

Rodgers wanted players which he didn't get

Dempesey- has been poor for spurs thanks we didn't get him

Sigurdsson-again has been poor for spurs thanks we didn't get him

Players Rodgers bought
Borini- big question mark hasn't been effective whenever he played

Assaidi-doesnt play him in league coz his too light weight

Joe Allen- like Borini big question mark hasn't been effective but excuses are been played in wrong possition when lucas comes will be interesting to see him played in his wrighrt possition then we will know better

Not too happy then ?

Oh well, never mind.

There are 4+ Divisions of teams on which 'dedicated fans' are paying thousands to support. We have no divine right to anything. Wolves, Preston Arsenal & Spurs, among many, were previous dynasties that were here to stay. We need to be realistic and fight our way out the hard way and, like it or not, Rodgers recognises that. It might take years - but its our turn to take the pain for the sake of our kids!

Borini is a huge waste of money, Allen is not worth 15 million we got ripped off big time. BR should be judged on results and we are 13th he should be doing better.

Allen has been our most consistent player and has had to play the defensive midfield role that he is not use to.

Borini played a few games and then got injured, like most players that move to the epl from a European club struggle in there 1st season, he is only 21 and can only get better so give him a chance before you judge him.

Assaidi whenever he plays he looks a threat, he is doing what Downing should be doing how you can say he is too lightweight is a joke, So you are saying that Rodgers only brought Assaidi for the European games.. I doubt it

As for buys i agree with the 1st poster Sturridge is not the answer, however if he comes which looks very likely then i will be giving him a chance.

Consistent player
wen we are consistently dropping points and loosing...you are saying allen is the most consistent player in out team

To original post. spain won the European championships with out a striker. are they a second rate side. seems to me there is better clubs out there for you to support. if you are someone that loves to moan try qpr, you can moan about the money they have spent and bottom of the table.
but if you hate moaning but cant help yourself try city or maybe chelsea rafas there now.

I agree with most of your argument. However, I think FSG see Liverpool as a business venture. They are not diehard fans as we lot are. Therefore, they have appointed a manager who was willing to cut corners, get the wage bill down, and still play eye-pleasing football. I do believe they ultimately have plans for us to compete at the top, but I suspect they are on a 5 - 10 year plan, while we expect immediate returns.

January is coming, and most of us feel we are owed two new signings. While I feel that two will certainly be signed, I suspect atleast one will be a prospect, and the other a forward in the 6 - 10 million bracket, not an Aguero, Dzeko or Huntelaar. Sure the owners are interested in Huntelaar (as Macca has pointed out), but not at the fee he will require nor his wages he will demand.

I think January and the coming summer will still focus on unloading our high priced players (Downing, Carroll, Cole, Carra) in one way or another, and replace them with promising prospects. Already Rodgers has spent 26 million on Borini and Allen, and I really don 't think the owners are looking at these purchases and saying "genius!", however, I bet they are looking at Rodgers and saying "he really knows how to work with what he's got......".

We all love our team, which is why we grow so frustrated. However, I think its time we all took the approach of our owners: patience. This one is going to take a while.

do you know if Liverpool are keeping an eye on Nicolas Castillo, 19 from chile {Ed002's Note - No idea, sorry.}

guys guys guyssssss

just EXPECT a very indifferent season....

any win we get will be a bonus...we have practically 13 quality players and thats it.

we cant rotate without the level going way down

the owners are clear that they wont spend anything.

so just lower the expectations...this aint the liverpool you know anymore...i personally do not think liverpool will reach the champions league for atleast 3-4 seasons...especially with the rest of the top teams continously spending and adding real quality

alex

Cool thanks for that alex ill be back in three for years then

^that comment is exactly whats wrong with so called liverpool fans....isit right to only follow lpool when they are back in the champions league? Football is 90% about hopes and dreams and 10% of actual sucess....u support lpool bcoz they gave u that unexplicable feeling of love when watching them play ...just support them win lose or draw..they give u something to look forward to every week regardless of how well they do!

Carling cup gone and Europa cup will gone too. BR can put his 1st team and secure the 2nd round but he is the man who make same mistake many time.

hhh

How have we lost out on the Europa league we are 2nd and travel to bottom of the league Udinese.....YB have to win by 2 more goals than us against the top team Anzhi to qualify....I'd say that gives us the advantage! Stop being so negative we're not Chelski...get behind BR he inherited a team and had/has to make lots of changes before his style is implemented......PATIENCE! YNWA

CoolhandLFC

Yeah good optimism...
u think we gonna travel to italy and beat udinese
just pray young boys loose to anzhi..and we draw...

No way u can win in udinese. young boys can draw and go to 2nd round.

Ed1 mate if you have seen our play we play tikki-taka 80% in our own half even when we are 1-2 down but when you see Barca or bilbao even Arsenal they play tiki-taka in opposition half which makes difficult for opposition to deffend. Don't you think there is something wrong in our play. {Ed001's Note - the difference is that Barca have forwards that frighten the opposition into dropping deep, so they don't get caught out. We just don't have that yet, which is what Rodgers is looking to change.}

23 Nov 2012 09:39:28
Another frustrating game last night but I like to look at the positives. It was another game that we should of won comfortably but we have to believe that come January we will get the couple of players that will make us stronger. Even though I hate being negative I do wish Brendon would play players in their positions. Certain players can play in various positions but most should be able to play in their strongest position. If BR did not want to play Johnson or Enrique at left back then Robinson should of played. When Wisdom went off injured then his options should of been Enrique or Coates (I know they are not right backs but they are defenders and with Carragher and Skrtel on the pitch then one of them would of been a better right back than henderson ) This is also not fair on Henderson who wants to impress but will have a better chance in a midfield role. If BR wants to rest Suarez then give Pacheco a chance or any of the other kids who might not be totally ready but at least it is their position.

EST.1892

Rodgers has got to balance team selection and showcase players that he wishes to sell and he has to do it in this competition, come on we all know the script? We still have players at the club that need to be moved on. Joe Cole goalscoring forward player and Stuart Downing Left back, midfielder, winger both played quite well, so hopefully there'll be some interest in January.
kidmillions

We didnt lose, not out of the competition either. But yes we should have had the game wrapped up before half time one goal is not enough. The prem of course is the priority and after the next two games we have what should be an easy run of games. jdog

23 Nov 2012 11:46:47
Millions you keep saying BR used last nights game to get players in the shop window. Couldn't disagree more, the likes of Cole and Downing play because we've got a paper thin squad and seven games in December. If they play well and catch someone's eye all well and good, but thats nowhere near the forefront of BR's mind. Results are far more important then using the Europa league to flog a few players, he wouldn't risk getting stuffed not to mention the goodwill of the fans to stick players in the 'shop window'.

Couple of exciting players that I have heard about from mouth, YouTube and also a certain simulator.

Koke is currently in a free scoring and 2nd placed Athletico Madrid team and if Falcao were to leave surely he would be another sought after play
El Shaarawry; last year he was a beast on FIFA. This year he is carrying the attack at Milan and is even turning in the performances in the CL
Ince, sadly we let him go for nothing but since he has been starting games he has looked very promising, we should have just loaned him or put a buy back clause
Isco; Malaga are in a dire situation with an owner who is simply describable as a Lalalala with what he is doing to Malaga. With huge debts and an owner like that then Isco will be a hot target in January surely or definately the summer
Dybala. I think I read somewhere that this guy is a target for most clubs with ambition, looks great so far for Palermo
Fierro; is he worth a punt? Young and a poacher in Mexico. Available for 3 million ish so I would try it out

Ben

I stopped reading once i read the word ''Fifa'' meaning the game.

Hey Ed/s, hope you're well.

I've heard you Eds saying Cavani is very unlikely (mostly 002) and although I did agree at the time, I'm now reading reports that his agent has confirmed we've made a move for him? How reliable do you find these reports? I apologise if I'm looking too optimistic, because I understand it can be annoying, but how sweet would a LS and EC attack be!?

Thanks, Ell. {Ed002's Note - This has been dealt with numerous times. It is untrue.}

Dongou; seems like the Barca camp see him to be a true great in the making ala Eto'o
Deulofeu, he has great potential on said simulator and seems to be attracting lots of interest and seems to be close to a Barca A call up
Adryan, I believe he plays for Flamengo (correct me if wrong) but I watched a Brazilian game a few weeks ago and he got MOTM and set up 2 goals, looked very good
Zouma, at 17 he is in the Etienne first team and is bossing the defence, he is getting rave reviews in France and looks like a top CB in the making. Coates future partner maybe?

When a club has a fan base which is larger than some countries around the world, in terms of population in support, then i think you'll have all types of character's represented in such a large bio-mass of people, as well as all types of opinions.

The players must have come some way in learning BR's gameplan, because if someone told me that we would play in Europe with Downing left back, Hendo right back, Sahin as the holding midfielder and Jonjo as striker, I would have thought you were taking the p*ss. As it happens, we did ok, but surely our squad can't be that thin to put that team out? Or was BR sending some weird message to the owners that he needs more players? Don't get me wrong, I like BR as our manager, but that team line up was a bit strange IMO. Just means we will be putting some more pressure on ourselves against Udinese - just doing it the hard way - as usual!

I reckon Rodgers won't last very long he's not got a clue full of self importance should have got rafa back

Why don't you go and support Chelsea then if you would rather keep on about Raffa and not support who ever is in charge of our great team!

I'll answer this. Because the poster doesn't need to ''go and support Chelsea'' because you dislike what he thinks Liverpool should have done regarding Rafa Benitez.

He offers an opinions, you tell him to support another club. What about all those that think Kenny should have been given more time and dare to utter such opinion!? Would you have them support another club or follow Kenny into the wilderness of being out of management?

All all the people who wanted Hodgson out, would you have prefered they go support another club? Were you one of the people who wanted Hodgson out!? Com'on, everyone's entitled to share their footballing opinions without getting told to support Chelsea, or another club.

Ok Rafa and Kenny lover!! Rafa just plain sucks because he now manages Chelsea and well Kenny he is to old and has no clue about quality players eg Downing and Caroll Adams

Okay

23 Nov 2012 07:48:40
My observation from last night was purely we lost our defensive shape leading to two goal, this may be down to a few factors firstly Sahin and Gerrard had too much distance between them and the CB's when we scored the 2nd they should have realised with only a few minutes to go to sit back be compact and keep a four with two midfielders sat in front! Secondly Lucas ha been the player who has sat just in front of the back 4 and broken play up, Mashcerano used to do this before him, currently we do not have a player in this role with who can do this job! I believe Sahin wa given this task last night and he isn't that type of player, thirdly this has a knock on effect with forward play as mid field players get caught in two minds about pushing forward!

Having Lucas back will be like a new signing, allowing the more creative players like Gerrard, Sahin and even Allen push forward that will not only help our attack but protect our back 4!

NS

Simples really, Rodgers should have brought Allen on instead of Sterling and Pepe looked a dodgy keeper again all through the game.
They were the two negative factors in an otherwise decent performance for me. In Rodgers defence, no one gets it right all the time and hindsight is a wonderful thing.
kidmillions

Totally agree about Reina - to be beaten at head height right down the middle of the goal - it's got to go down as yet another error by him.

John B

23 Nov 2012 07:17:29
Hi
No one is blaming Reina for the two soft goals he coceded. The ball was straigth at him. How can someone be guaranteed a place in a squad is beyond me (jones or anyone will be sad after working hard at training and replicating the form on matches). it means BR has his preferred or is afraid of his star players. he can`t critisise SG,LS,Carra,PR even thougt they make mistake because he is afraid of them. A good manager should be able to tell any player that they hv played bad and they can be drop next match if they do not rectify. thats the problem.

Please BR stop playing players out of position (SG,Henderson,Downing, Sahin, enrique, jonhson, suso, wisdom, borini, allen ect ect) it will bring to your downfall as it has been for Rafa, KK,hodgson,Houillier.

You are making the same mistake as KK and co, saying only a striker is needed. IMO the most important player to buy is a very very good genuine Defensive midfielder (new one; a la masherano + Lucas (often injured) ), a proven Leftback (enrique doesn`t hv that little plus), a cheap cover for rigth back (a true Rback), then a striker along with the return of A.carroll.

It is possible if we Ship/exchange the misfits like Downing ( every of his cross is blocked for a professional like him), Jcole, flanagan (don`t hv brain), pacheco, spearing, Enrique.... (new left back, someone better eg:L.Baines..LOL.. every thing is possible), borini, sahin (loan: let the players who will be here gain experience )

sort this out and we will be the champions.
Budashow

All hail your tactical genious, we have been enlightened! Who knew that becoming champions was SO EASY?!!

Everything fine..but did u mentioned return of andy caroll.......
omg..seems u are still ina good sleep...
what would andy caroll do in our line up..
add another player as we are short of 11 players on the pitch......

23 Nov 2012 02:15:49
torres is still a top class striker! i would love to have him back at liverpool, a team that passes the ball forward. thats why chelsea cant get him to perform they go up the field slow and side to side not through the gaps in the oppositions back four. liverpool and gerrard would get him back into form. period.

He is too slow.

He is a miserable excuse for a player, has no pace anymore. 'El Sulk'.

Thanks Rafa

You dont think we play side to side?

How can you say he is a top class player but at the same time say he needs big holes in the deffence to get a look in he is brunt out in the prem he needs to go back home!

Deanalfie

Since when are we passing it forward? We love passing it backwards!

Form is temporary class is permanent. He still has speed, can take on defenders, and can finish. It's the teams playing style can't support his play. Chelsea doesn't play through torres.

Went to the match today, now doing my 8 and a half hour journey home, dedication eh? Anything for my beloved reds.

We played quite well, passed it around nicely in triangles, reina n carra take 1 too many risks at the back, we also lacked that killer instinct upfront

We need quality in depth that's very obvious hopefully br can buy sum players in jan

Overall I wasn't too displeased with how we played but we really should of put that game to bed after joe cole scored, if we be completely honest defensively we've been extremely poor in contrast too last season.

Hopefully can get that defensive form back, guess we need Lucas back but still no excuse to throw it away in the dying minutes at home

My main prob today was the crowed, sorry guys but the young boys supporters out sang our fans for large periods of the game

I have a very saw throat from singing so loud to try get people around me to join in, sum did but sum actually sounded shy to sing coz not many were?

That's a critisi

Main problem is poor players second problem is the manager downing and henderson playing at the back does br just make it up as he goes along.red mick tag ynwa

Crowd has been an issue, for quite some time now...

I said to a mate yesterday, if Rodgers doesn't like you he plays you at right back or left back.

Enrique must have wondered why he wasn't called on, or Coates and Carra shipping out on the right, okay he's got zero pace, but he doesn't really have to commit going forward.

I take the mick out of AVB and his non-tactics, with a spud mate, i already know he's going to be having a dig about playing left wingers and centre midfielders at left and right back. I would. Side note, he thinks AVB will be out before xmas, unless he starts getting some wins. 4 games he reckons. He's not in the know or anything, but it's interesting that we aren't the only one's going through the mill.

Criticism our fans need to take, morale is low think summers transfer shambles took the wind out of a lot of fans but we need to get behind the boys more

We need to beat udinese n we can do it! Anyways main priority for our thin squad is the PL lets crack on with Swansea and get a win!

was at the game tonight and firstly....great support from the swiss fans and very nice touch from them with the hillsborough banner. class. also some good banter second half.
on the field joe allen was severely missed. their midfield was allowed too much freedom at times.
on a positive, we go into the last game needing to beat bottom-placed udinese to go through and we've given experience to loads of youngsters/fringe players along the way.
since august we've seen the rapid emergence of andre wisdom, raheem sterling, jonjo shelvey and suso as regulars. yesil and texeira have massive potential and assaidi has shown flashes of brilliance (tonight he did a couple of heighway/thompson things but we didn't get enough players in the box to convert his crosses).
lucas and sahin are class players who are getting back from injuries. soon we could be watching some real competition for midfield places......allen,gerrard,sahin,lucas,
shelvey,suso,henderson,(enrique?)...etc.
even without buying we could compete if all our players were fit. but we do need at least a striker.

Went to game per norm.We all know its a rebuild. But maybe we disagree on size of it.We all know 2nd String aint good enough. In patches tonight i must admit Hendo looked better, but sadly overall, have to say, don't think hes gona be good ENOUGH.Sahin again fancy touches, but doesnt track back,or get a tackle in (bar 1st and only seen him do in 2nd half).Cole tried and couple of good things, and better than past. But mainly slow, passing off beam.Thank God he finished chance cos he got in Suarez's way.The midfield is wrong! Shelvey did well earlier, but lost positional discipline later.Probably down to balance of Midfield, cos he dropped back into it to recieve the ball.No one seems certain of their roles or positions.Stevie came on and with 1st touch and pass showed the quality we were missing.God help us when he finish's,even if aint what he was.Think Cole shouldve come off earlier. And Suso shouldve stayed on.Cant believe Sahin wasnt subbed early/or even started. He'd be ok with a midfield of Hamman type,Stevie and Lucas-all doing his share of defensive work.Hes a luxuary player we cant afford(in both ways)Cant believe Brendan doesnt give Ngoo a go upfront and Shelvey could've been centre Mid.Suso behind Ngoo.Cos once again key 1st team players aint getting a break.
Sorry to diss the lad but sooner Downing goes the better. He wont tackle and is afraid of responsibility-woeful.Whats going on with Rena? Dodgy again, and this time punching(too often)and kicking c ck ups.We know Carras slow but Reina and him fooking about with ball at the back invited pressure.Ridiculous amount of passing back to Reina aswell.Midfield gave them too much room-both goals! You'ld think they would've learned with their 1st goal. But know Midfield never worked or closed down(Sahin in particular),all stood off and you could see it coming. Now per norm, got to do hard way.And we only have ourselves to blame.

I think sahin played really well . He tracked back and made loads of tackles and won his fair share of headers . Plus a mention to Joe cole as he was great . I know it's 1 game but if he can play like that every game he can be usefull and could save us money .

Jamesy

If you're tracking back and making those tackles, it normally means you were in the wrong position to begin with.

The key for a defensive mid (which Sahin isn't anyway) is positioning and reading of the game. The idea being to intercept, break up play and cover the areas where the striker is dropping into (see first 20 mins last night where Zarate and Bobdavilla were frequently picking up the ball)

We miss Lucas badly at the moment. Sahin isn't that type of player. I can't really say I've been impressed with him so far, but playing a role you're not used to is never going to bring the best out in you.

JimmyHustle

Joe has cost us a small fortune with nothing in return, he scored a good goal and missed another two or three chances last night. Hopefully some club somewhere will take the bait. That was the idea behind him and Downing playing last night.
kidmillions

Actually Sahin was quality last night, he was rarely caught out of position and covered a lot of ground, won a lot of tackles and kept the play ticking over! Joe Cole was awesome aswell, great performance and deserved his goal! we as fans have to take this game by game, we dont help players by being negative! we still might be dropping points but we are definately on the right track. it could be worse you know, hodgson could still be at the helm! scousedel

Hi eds, great site. Totally addicted.
Pleased with tonite's performance.Plenty of positives. Pity about the last minute goal. Cole played well. The tika-taka style is starting to show. A few too many long balls, but it is early days yet. Brendan is doing a great job.
It doesn't matter if we drop out of the Europa Cup and the FA cup. We can then concentrate on our league position.
Things are going really well and Brendan is doing a fantastic job. Great at interviews.
Too many doubters here.
Brandon has 3 years. Great manager.Great whistle with his fingers.
The best is yet to come.

Boston Red

I beg to differ. The Europa and FA cup we actually have a chance in. You have to be seriously delusional if you think we are going to get fourth. Why throw away the chances of winning something to attain nothing in the league. Brenda Back pass is not helping

I was taking the piss.
Rodgers is losing the plot and there will be a crisis in 6 weeks time.
Young Boys passing was better.
He can't keep experimenting for the sake of it.
He knew what he wanted. Now he doesn't.

Anyone think Chelsea might make a bid for Lucas.. Has this been mentioned? they could do with someone like him. Jan is coming up. I'm not trying to start a rumour.. maybe its been started. I'm concerned.

I'm sure Lucas would take a look at what happened with Torres, Meireles and Yossi and realise there is nothing for him at Chelsea

I had the same thought, benitez is crazy about lucas.
lucas needs time i hope he will be as good before.

Lucas would probably need to prove his fitness first.

It has been reported today that Fenway Sports group are in negotiations to sell their holdings in LFC. John Henry today explained that supporter satisfaction was key to their decision. Mr Henry stated we as a group have decided to sell LFC to EA games , who have said that unlimited amounts of money can be spent on transfers. A spokesman for EA games has stated , we are pleased to own the first interactive Premier league club , the takeover will take place before LFCs next home game and all supporters will be issued with free PS3 units to ensure we purchase all players requested by our support. Blame game latest scores:
1. Rodgers
2. Cole
3. Pepe
4. Carragher
5. Suarez
6. Gerrard.

My money is on Rodgers to win.
Seriously though, the Europa League is not a priority for the team. Yes we want to win every game, but if there is one competition that we can use to build experience it's this one. The team has learned valuable lessons tonight and not lost any ground on the domestic front.
On top of that Rodgers has gained some more information on the state of his squad and it's progress. It's vital information to take into the January transfer window.
The longest journey starts with a single step.

Last night was down to br sadly

Seriously we need to try and get in the top 4 with r squad so light i for 1 wouldnt mind getting outa europa and put all r effort into qualifying for cl. while were in it put the squad players and good youngsters in. what brendan was doing anyway he cant win if it works he is considered a super manager if he is a good bit unlucky like last night the silly posters come on here say stupid stuff .most of them prob need to go back to the everton r the everton senior team man utd site. Sry but today Rodgers let liverpool down why take out wisdom for Gerrard and play two attacking players left and right back with very little protection at the same time when we are leading 2-1 why bring more attacking player(sterling) instead of defensive player to hold on our lead. Why sit on bench instead of saying to players to drope more back rather then driving more foward.

How about the FACT that he was injured? Do you think BR snuck onto the field and injured Wisdom himself???

Azerbaijani club Baku FC have appointed Vugar Guloglan oglu Huseynzade, aged just 21, as their new manager ahead of former European Player of the Year Jean-Pierre Papin - based on his experience of playing the computer game Football Manager.
Full story: Metro

Thought it would interest all the Fifa and Football manager folk.

Fair play. You'd be surprised how accurate those games are.

Come january,if anyone comes in with a decent offer for gerrard,i think the club should take a good look at it,i hate watching him lately doing nothing, bad passing, caught on the ball, not tracking back,His games gone, horrible to say, because for years he's been the main man,but that does not warrant a first team place..cash in while theres some money to be made..

1. The player won't move.
2. He has a long contract
3. He has irreplaceable experience in a squad full of young guns still wet behind the ears.

Gerrard is going nowhere.

Not sure I can post directly from my phone so I'm gonna use someone else's post to comment! Would like to thank all fans from over britain and europe for their kind messages regarding our fans in rome, the cowardly attack by lazio supporters left one fan fighting for his life and another well into his 60's badly cut and bruised! Again thank you to all supporters from all those teams that posted!
Sir billy nick ggth

Maybe carrying your club on his shoulders single handedly for the last few years has caught up with him
It would be a bit harsh flogging him don't you think because when Chelsea come calling for him he was loyal and stayed with Liverpool

Mate Gerrard played superb even made assst for joe cole goal maybe we were watching different game.

And it takes other clubs supporters to explain to you what loyalty means. Shame on you. Stevie is welcome at our club into his retirement...at 65. Coach, manager...who knows. The man is Liverpool through and through. I'd dump the OP before i would even consider letting our best player since Graeme Souness leave.

"Gerrard is going nowhere"............pretty much sums up the ways he plays on the pitch at the moment :-)

Gerrard is one player that deserves to win the BPL with Liverpool more than any other for the pure fact of his loyalty

Liverpool owes it to him I really hope it happens before he retires

Folks, lets all calm down. Sure, it's disappointing we didn't finish them off, but, lets not forget, Young Boys thumped Udinesse and made them look ordinary, and Udinesse played us off the park in stages. So, a bit of reality please, they are no pushovers. Now, on the subject of Brendan Rodgers, this man knows his stuff, you can see we are improving every game. When he has assembled the team that he wants over the next several months, THAT'S when judgements and comparisons can be made. I for one will support my team 110% through these transitional times. Get behind the manager, the team and the owners people, or, would you rather be like that laughing stock, Chelskie, with a manager a month? Here's a jome on their behalf: Apparently, by the year 2025, and your a UK citizen, you'll only ever be 100 yards from an Ex Chelsea manager. Chin up folks, WE ARE LIVERPOOL.

Stevie.

eds, whats happened to coates? does rodgers not like him? think he would be a better option than carragher, he looked like he would be a rock in our defence for many years! {Ed001's Note - he went with Carra's experience, that is all.}

23 Nov 2012 00:37:54
Ed1 mate do you think rodgers rate coates coz coates lacks pace and Rodgers loves playing highline. Just wanting your opinion mate {Ed001's Note - yes he rates him, Carra has less pace, so that is irrelevant.}

I'm really sorry but i'm fed up of Henderson in general too be honest. He constantly looks absent of confidence, invention, flair and everything else you want to see in a footballer. He has the most basic set of abilities ever (pass backwards or side wards very short distances) and really adds nothing to the game. I personally have never seen him show any signs of being 16m now or anytime in the near future. Atleast with lucas, he didnt cost an absurd amount even if he was pretty woeful at the start. Sorry to be so negative but he just frustrates me so much!

Carl

Hard to have confidence when the manager doesn't believe in you.

Needs more games. needs to feel the importance of each performance a bit less. hope that makes sense.

Hard for a manager to have confindence in a player who has been at very best, average for the best part of 18 months.

Hard to have confidence whe the crowd are always so damn quiet and not getting behind the team. He tries something, it doesn't come off, the groans from the crowd are heard and he retreats further into no-confidence land.
FFS get behind whoever is wearlign the shirt and make some noise.
Make the players want to run through brick walls and keep going and trying and playing the hearts out.

Plenty of minor niggles for the doom and gloom merchants to pick up on but tonight's performance was encouraging, considering the starting 11. Cole had a decent game and should be given credit for it; Suso and Assaidi also impressed. Defending was sloppy but inevitable when players are asked to play there who haven't much experience. Its old news now that we need a striker but I'm still confident that we can beat Udinese, especially if Lucas available. Keep the faith people. YNWA.
Learpholl

Minor niggles you are having a laugh think about it please the players we have are no good and may be br is no good but to be fair to him he can not take the blame for the player situation.

22 Nov 2012 23:31:31
Are we that bad now that people think a performance like that from cole tonight is good?? I know we all like someone who trys but I'd run round Anfield till I had heart attack, doesn't make me a good player. Time to take these games seriously BR. The sooner you realise that LFC is about winning trophies the better. We'd better be offering big wages in Jan cos who's gonna wanna come and concentrate on midtable games? Tonight WAS a big game in our season.
Paulie

To be honest cole was ok last night, henderson was pretty poor, and every time carragher plays we look vunerable at the back. RedTurk

This game has nothing to do with tactical changes, who played better nothing like that..reina decided this match the guy really irritates me..you aren't busy most of the game, just make a fu***ing save when the team needs you you fail miserably...how the second goal went in I don't know..rodgers should plan for a replacement in the summer.rodgers should be bold and keep playing jones,I rather see him make those types of mistakes than a so called world class keeper making school boy errors.he could have just stood and saved it..instead he makes it look like the shot was going for the top corner..just putting the pressure on rodgers for no reason..

I actually agree with you completely. The 2nd looked very saveable if it hadn't been for the theatrical dive. He's been poor for a long time now and I'd be more than happy to see a replacement come in long term and see Jones in the interim.
