Some player rakitic . Obv love Liverpool to get him but can't see it happen . he's stock is rising . The suarez madrid saga will raise its head again I feel ; ( if he wanted to go i'd make sure we got the best deal possible for us, i'd love to keep suarez but if not i'd ask for modric in any deal . Other than that i'm delighted with our team this season . If we see it through it must go down as one of the best achievements of any team to go from 7th to 1st and competing with the billionaires . Some ballers this season . Few tweeks is all, few great younglads there in rossiter n texiera etc .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why do fans keep saying the Suarez transfer saga will crop up again soon? as far as I know he is happy here, he will (hopefully) be playing for the champions of England, he WILL be playing champions league football, he is the number one striker here, he will have scored over 30 goals this season, he will prob be player of the year. He would have to play second fiddle to Ronaldo and Bale at RM, I know the press will make up stories but l think we as fans should have more faith that he will stay.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - He has been playing well and you have to expect interest from elsewhere.}

I'm pretty Suarez would not consider himself second fiddle to either Bale or even Ronaldo.

It would be a lot easier to have faith in him staying if the whole debacle in the summer had never happened or the summer before that. Hopefully his second pay raise through agitating to move is enough to make him find staying acceptable.

Agree0 Disagree0

There is lots & lots & lots of interest.
Involving lots & lots & lots of money.
We need to keep everything that's crossable, crossed that he stays.

I will be throwing a street party and buying everyone a frosty-brew if he does.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Apr 2014 11:16:55
Suarez wouldn't play second fiddle to either of them, he would outshine and out scorethe pair of them, specially as he would play centrally with them either side of a 3 man attack(frightening!) bit he keeps saying he happy with us, loves playing in the premiership, he adored by us, and on his way to a near perfect season going into a World Cup! A good World Cup, could even win it and his value will rise even more!

Think people geting carried away with them selfs if they think chelsea will be a push over Sunday. This is just what maureen wants everyone to think. Make no mistake they will be well up for it and will be out for a win. This is far from our league yet. We shouldn't look past Sunday yet. There's still 3 teams in the hunt for it and all want to win it 'i hope we don't mess up and can see out the last few games with wins.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Its exactly what he will be doing, people seem to have forgotton who chelsea are. They are the most irritating and hard to beat team in the league atm. Not because they're an exceptionally good team, ala city or munich, but because the arrogant one is there manager. He is quickly taking over my most hated manager, ferguson, in the person charts, to an extent where I genuinly think it could cost him his job this summer.

This man, is like a footballing devil. He will use any trick, any advantage possible to win. His horribly boring and pathetic mind games have
Bored and irritated us into submission already, we're all thinking they'll be a pushover regardless of who they play. Wrong.

Chelsea will be extremely hard to beat, in a game I can see going the way of a draw. They have quality all through the squad so it won't make much difference. As long as Liverpool stay concentrated, as they always have done, and treat the next opponent with the utmost respect and effort, we should do fine. If not, we're in for a very nasty result, this title is far from over yet.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Apr 2014 23:44:45
Hopefully palace will get a result against city and then a draw would do us nicely. I agree maureen has become the hated one. He's trying to be like corned beef nose with his mind games.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with lots of what you are saying Woolback but in this game Chlesea really do not want or can afford a draw. They need to win if they want any hope of the title so they will leave gaps. We may not be able to exploit them but they will pop up for sure

Agree0 Disagree0

Im really not sure gareth, could go either way. I can see a quick resurgence in the first few minutes, as arsenal did, and hopefully we will counter and pick them off from there. Honestly I don't want to think about what mourinho may or may not do, we should just be prepared for the worst, treat it like a chelsea side who are on level points with us, like the city game. If the manager and players carry on the one game at a time mantra, and concentrate on the game in detail by exploiting all weaknesses, we should be fine. Would love to kill chelsea off though and relieve some of the stress.

Would anyone keep Assaidi as back up choice for the left wing next season as games will come in plenty? Moses will go back but then Suso will be back.
Id keep all 3 of Suso, Assaidi and Borini.
Id like to hear others views.
Cheers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Other two for should stay for sure but Assaidi can barely get a game for Stoke now after his flying start, personally i'd rather either get someone new in or give his place to one of the youngsters. I get the impression from interviews that he want's out too, so best for all parties that he leaves if you ask me even though I do like the guy. Cheers

Agree0 Disagree0

Assaidi has been injured since early 2014 HX red. that's why he hasn't played for Stoke, he has only just recovered.

In any case, i'd like to see him sold and I would like to keep Borini and Suso, though only if when Suarez/Sturridge are injured Borini steps in. Rodgers seems to change formation when one of them is injured and goes with a single striker not giving the back up striker a chance.

Rakitic had another good game against Valencia, every time I've watch Seville play he's looked really good, think he would be great for us.
Parejo didn't play brilliantly, probably because Seville know how important he is for Valencia and were on him every time he got the ball, but he could have done better.
Looking forward to the next leg =)

Hi Eds, I play fifa 2014 a lot and i've seen some players on there that others may not have heard of, so i'm going to ask you if these players with strange names are available because it will make me seem ever so smart.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ha ha quality. And I play fifa! I know how every player develops because of it!

Cos you haven't heard of a few players, fifa is the only logical answer?

Just one I thought I'd. Put out there for discussion, but if Mourinho did take over at Man unto this summer could you see us bidding for Mata?

Mourinho has already sold him once this year as he doesn't seem to utilise him.
If we did win the league and we can gaurantee Champions league football could you see us signing him, him being interested and United/Mourinho willing to sell him to us?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why would you ask that? He's never going to move there and once again we have never showed any interest in the player. Silly post

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't see Liverpool paying close to £40 million for a player for a long time. Its just fantasy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jeez, anything gets through the filters today eds? Think I'll sum this one up. NO NO NO NEVER HAPPENING NO

Agree0 Disagree0

Maureen is not going to utd. As much as I dislike utd even they have got more class than to appoint the person abroad!

He is far too unpraditical in his spouting off and antics on the touch line. He suits Chelsea and that is where he will stay until he has another tiff with his boss.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry edit to the above. Meant to be unpredictable.

This post is from a parallel universe. Anticipating outs based on a manager who isn't and never will be a clubs manager. Brilliant.

Have all of you noticed how our team seem really close?

I know winning will give any team in any sport the feel good factor but one thing that pleases me as much as any of our wins is how close we seem as a team.

When I see arsenal, spurs, man U (not often) score it seems some players really take their time to go and congratualte their team mate who netted the goal, or made it and there it often looks like some players are annoyed that they did not score themselves. But with LFC it seem all the players and manager are really tight which is great to see.

Seeing Rodgers gleam after we score still makes me feel good and the lads full of glee when a team mate scores is just great for the game.

Love this club!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Very true! Maybe it's because we haven't been in the fight for top 4, let alone the title for some time,
But as you say others don't seem bothered! I noticed at Tottenham (i know they don't have a lot to play for) that when they equalised against fulham most of the players didn't even react, really highlights he difference between the two sides and how the team are believing.
Happy times at L4

Agree0 Disagree0

I really do agree. They all seem very contempt and humble. slight contradiction but it works!

Hi Ed's, not asking you to go into figures but what sorts of contracts / bonuses are on offer to players joining a Premier League club?

In the Squad/in the 18?
Goals / Assists?
Win/draw?
Final position?

Do those still stand or do clubs look at performance only (as i'd expect Liverpool to do)?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - There are more than 1,000 players on all sorts of different contracts.}

24 Apr 2014 20:29:16
I think Mou is right in his way of fielding a second fiddle side, they have better chances of getting thru to the CL final, then winning PL.
And to my recollection featuring in CL final brubgs in more prize money which'll swell Chelsea's transfer budget.

Anyways, feel LFC'd be prepared for anything thrown to them.

We Go Again!

Contrao, Tello, Parejo, and the returning Suso, Borini, Wisdom, and possibly one more signing and imo we will be ready to compete on all fronts next season. Thoughts?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Buy: Coentrao, Kovacic, Hatem Ben Arfa & Tello. for around £45m
Bring back: Borini, Suso, Ibe, Ilori.

Sell: Reina, Aspas, Assaidi, Coates, Robinson. for around £17m
Loan out: Kelly, Alberto, Teixeira.

Agree0 Disagree0

Moreno, Muriel, Rakitic. I'm sure there are a good number of players we are looking at, but it's just speculation.

Agree0 Disagree0

Outs.

Jones.
Reina.
Robinson.
Coates.
Toure.
Wisdom.
Assiadi.
Coady.
Aspas.
Ngoo.

Ins.

Moreno or Coentroa.
Muniain or Shaqiri.
Konoplyanka or Iturbe.

Bring through

Ilori.
Suso.
Teixera.
Borini.

Agree0 Disagree0

Moreno - no chance
Coentrao - possible rather than probable
Muniain - no chance
Shaqiri - 20 odd million to watch Sterling start on the right?
Parejo - over priced and doesn't really address goalscoring from MF problem
Konoplyanka - ship might have sailed, possible

Bertrand, Richards, Hughes, Tello more likely than many of the above. They fit the profile of talented players who have represented big clubs and may have lost their way or been squeezed out. More importantly there is evidence of actual interest in these players. Rakitic would address MF depth, goals, Euro experience, leadership qualities criteria. All could be recruited given a serious push and if Reina, Coates, Robinson, Cissokho, Moses, Assaidi and Agger/Enrique leave the squad is deeper and stronger.

Wow just seen that pastore and silva, both of PSG earn 250,000 per wk. won't be signing them then! Pajero however has the highest pass success rate in the europa league and is someone we are interested in signing!

Can't wait for Sunday gang, Ramirez suspended and players out injured I don't give a rubbish what excuses mourinho comes out with as long as we win this game

Personally, I don't think it matters whom the opposition are in the next 3 games. It could be arsenal city Chelsea, or Fulham Cardiff And west brom for all I care. As at the end of the day we have proven we can beat anyone in the league, so then, it comes down to the players own mental state. I don't care if it's Chelsea's u18s or Chelsea's greatest hits, on Sunday, the players need to be focused and disciplined, there is no easy game in the premier league. Turn up properly, beats what is in front of you, lift the league. Sounds simple eh?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Newcastle 4 nil by United Palace 4 nil by united come on guys nerves kicking in all ready then there's Chelsea who are on a roll of ad defeats

Hi Ed's and Reds,

Firstly thanks Ed's (been reading the rumours and answers on the FFP that the Ed's responded to) - much appreciated (even if you have posted before :o)

Must say its been so nice being in the title race again but also the fans are getting just as nervous as the team sometimes plays (me more than anyone).

Win or come third regardless I think next year is going to be so much more difficult (can see Chelsea, Man City, Man U, Arsenal and Spurs spending big - less so Spurs). Not trying to end this season at short notice just commenting.

I actually think only signing 4 or 5 players (assuming the following leave; Cissoko, one of Agger/Skrtel, Moses, Coates, Assiadi (spelling)) might be a good thing; might give players like Jordan Rossiter (too young to go on loan) some game time and allow some others some game time to develop (maybe a Jack Dunn or Lloyd Jones).

Just hope we can keep getting the results and champions league to get the two or three players we need to freshen up/push forward year on year.

Hoping Sunday gives us a win.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Champions League football any League Champions if it happens are two very attractive things for a player one of which a Liverpool garuntee the other one firmly on its way

Hi Eds and fellow Reds

Good old Jose, he knew he's onto a hiding for nothing so why not take the high ground, using the excuse of fielding a weakened side (still stronger than 90% of PL teams). I wish he did play his 'full' side, but he has seen what happened to Arsenal, Everton and city so he's pulled a very clever move.
Also, Jose and Pellegrini share a mutual dislike towards each other so the thought of Chelsea winning and handing the momentum to city must have been one of the topics of conversation with Abrovamich.
Either way, we will win the league, probably at Palace. Now wouldn't that be ironic (for the older supporters)?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - This is all nonsense. Chelsea will pick a squad that has a number of youngsters in it. It is nothing to do with Liverpool, Manchester City or the Chelsea owner - it is a case of injuries, bans and the timing of the game.}

To be fair if we were in the semis of the champions league with what we believed is nt much of a chance of the league I would want the exact same thing.
We done it before the 07 final against Fulham if I remember correctly an Neil Warnock still partly blames us for his team being relegated.
You have to do what you believe is best for your club.
I just don't like the weakened team bit when there more than likely going to be 90% full international players.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Don't think of it as weakened, just Chelsea using the players they have available.}

I'm not Jose's biggest fan by any means but come on, his focus will be on Chelsea and what is best for them! They cannot win the league unless both us and City mess up, even if they beat us we still need to lose another match. Jose is just using his head. They have a good chance to win the CL, why risk injuring vital players in a competition they have a very slim chance of winning? Whatever team he fields they will give us a good game, he will know what tactics he wants to play and it still won't be easy. But I don't think there is anything that can stop us now, confidence is sky high, 11 wins in a row, league leaders by 5 points. Let's think less about what Mourinho is doing, whatever team he puts out we're going to hit them the same way.

Agree0 Disagree0

Actually although I agree chelsea's progress in CL should probably be biggest focus for jose and with injuries and bans of course on top of that it has limited his choice anyway. it is typical jose to say something, anything to play mind games and to limit the humiliation he may feel. I am not saying he is humiliated by likelyhood of missing title but man the guy is so arroagant (though largely due to the fact he is actually world class) it would be just like him to try and detract from the possibility he would have been beaten by Liverpool with any team he played.
He is world class and entertaining but he also is like a baby sometimes that can't admit fault or blame when perhaps he should. And that is okay if you don't throw insults at other managers like he does. because at least then you don't look so silly

Agree0 Disagree0

I remember when we won the champs league in 2005.
We rested players and Neil Warnock had a right go saying it was a disgrace.
The bottom line is that clubs have to look at what they can realistically achieve especially at the business end of the season.
Yes Chelsea could still win both the league and the champs league but if they beat us they are more than likely handing the league to Man City.
In terms of probability, They win two games and they are European champions vs beating us and maybe still finishing 3rd.
Schwarzer, Cole, the spanish fella, Cahill, Ivanovic, Luiz, Lampard, Mikel, Salah, Shirley, Oscar, Will I am, with Demba ba, Etoo and Torres to choose from. How is that weak? Yes Maureen would love to have his captain available and yes Schwarzer is 40, Hazard is not fit, but they will field a side capable of beating us at the weekend.
Don't believe they will but it will still be a strong chelsea side.

Agree0 Disagree0

On the subject of Jose Mourinho, I know that this is the Liverpool page so is perhaps the wrong page to ask on, but Ed02, if Chelsea were to finish 3rd and not win the Champions League, is there any possibility of him leaving Chelsea? I would actually be having nightmares, as a Liverpool fan, if he did and ended up at Manchester United for example

I understand from my source we do not have as much money to spend than everyone seems to think / say in recent weeks. She tells me it's only about half of what is being reported in the papers, while BR also has the task of lowering the wage bill. He'll also need to get rid of some dead weight. (and on a personal note) His contract renewal could provide some leverage but I doubt he'll use it as he understands the system which provides the funds. We are in need of another keeper and at least 2 defenders before even thinking about widening the squad in other positions. I'd seriously consider keeping Reina despite everything.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Rodgers will not be tasked with lowering the wage bill. That is up to the finance folks - you know the ones who significantly increased the wage bill from this September by giving Suarez a new deal.}

And there will be new deals no doubt for other key performers the club wants to reward. That'll cost millions before we start thinking about new players. It's also good business sense. The wage bill has been lowered. The club will look at players with 2 years on their contract and high wages and ask whether better value exists elsewhere if they sell the player this summer. That's balanced against retaining experience and the great squad atmosphere.

Agree0 Disagree0

Exactly. But BR is the one who has to make the call on which of the bigger earners are expendable. We had to break our wage system for Luis' deal and now Raheem and bunch of other players will be receiving a pay raise. The higher we aim at the transfer market in the summer, the bigger the demand for higher wages will be from those targets.
The club is determined to find the right balance with value for money in mind.

Agree0 Disagree0

Your source is pretty poorly informed. It also appears she cannot read as we've just spectacularly announced the sentiment of "we'll pay what we need to" via. Ian Ayre; a shrewd business move from him there.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Apr 2014 04:57:01
I think your wrong (Solar); things have changed at the club (even Macca can't get info anymore); we will make signings if they fit to what we want to do and we can make the deals happen.

I think the Ed's have it right with 3 before any departures.

Would Spurs be willing to let Andros Townsend move on?

I tried the search function, but to no avail.

Cheers Ed.

Red Rum

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - You didn't find anything because you are on the Liverpool page.}

Red-Rum mate, you suggesting we should look at Townsend? I think he is criminally overrated.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Apr 2014 17:06:31
I seem to remember the last time Townsend had a good game in the Premier League was sometime in October?

Haven't heard his name mentioned in many a moon.

Thought he had a string of two/three games and a few caps for England and then disappear.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with AG, Ibe is so much better

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he is a Brendan Rodgers type of player.

He is Young with loads of potential, who has shown that when he gets the chance he can perform at the top level. He isn't getting much game time at Spurs either.

He could be another Sturridge or Coutinho in my opinion.

Ps. Ed, I suppose the question should have been could he be an option for Liverpool?. but I'll just check the Spurs page ;-)

Red Rum

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has shown no interest in the player and where would it leave Raheem Sterling?}

A lot of clubs are renaming stadiums. I know it sounds like blasphemy to many (myself included, sorry to say) but sadly that is the way forward. Even city with their oil money have named their ground Etihad. So, begrudgingly why not, I guess. Anfield will always be known as Anfield to us anyway. We are a household international brand (more so when we win the league) so should be able to command a decent fee/agreement.
Please don't jump down my neck, it's only an opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

I assume Moses will return to Chelsea and Assaidi will be sold. Therefore, our only first team winger will be Sterling. Of course he is the main man, but the fixture incease next season means reinforcements will be needed. I feel if Townsend is managed correctly, he will develop into a very good player.

Red Rum

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The club has been looking for an adaptable wide player, hence having Juan Guillermo Cuadrado watched. Liverpool has shown no interest in Townsend. You should try the Spurs page and share you love for him there.}

Townsend is at best very average. Shows good pace but does approx 10-15 step overs whilst the defender stands and watches him! No end product either. Headless chicken springs to mind.

Agree0 Disagree0

@ Iranred

I can honestly see this happening at some point in future. Books need to be balanced and stadium sposorship seems to be a good way of raising money. Would be a hard sell to fans though, would imagine the owners would cop some flak for it.

Agree0 Disagree0

He could be another sturridge or coutinho? They are both completely different players, and so is Townsend?

Agree0 Disagree0

I would rather us look to improve Ibe who is almost exactly a year younger than Sterling. and we have Suso so we don't need SQUAD forwards really, unless they have the potential to have a similar impact as say Coutinho like Tello perhaps could.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he would be a decent signing.
Rodgers could improve him and he does have the talent.
His most annoying trait is that he shoots from everywhere.
But I thought the same about Daniel Sturridge when he came to the club and he changed my opinion of him pretty quickly. to the point where now I am like "Do what you want Daniel"
Townsend is young, quick, strong and out of favour at Spurs ( Sherwood rates Lennon over him. ha ha)
I for one don't think that is a bad shout Red Rum.

Agree0 Disagree0

I know a lot of the traditionalists will disagree but wouldn't it make sense for us fund the anfield development with a name sponsor covering some of the cost, yes it won't be called anfield technically but we would get some of the redevelopment costs covered as football is still a business. Would people accept a corportate name rather than anfield?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Anfield.

Agree0 Disagree0

Id agree to a corporate name for the new stand not for the whole ground. i'd be happy renaming the main stand the Standard Chartered Stand, the Carlsberg Stand or any other for the right price

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I suspect you will be in for an upsetting time ahead.}

I have zero problems with 'Tesco Park at Anfield' or whatever. Everyone will still call it Anfield anyway except the broadcasters.

Agree0 Disagree0

It will happen at some point in future. The finances of the game (and our club) make this an inevitability. It would be a disappointment for it to happen but football is business and it is a good renevue stream to open up - given the estimated costs of the upgrade, the FFP requirements and our current financial status I don't really see how the club can afford not to do it.

Who would you rather lose to Spain, Rodgers or Suarez?!? Du du dummm

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - hahaha, I would prefer Suarez loses to Spain while playing for Uruguay. That would be my choice of which to lose to Spain!}

Suarez as we will at least be compensated financially if he did move on. Rodgers could go and, in the current market, it would be difficult to imagine who would follow on from him.

This isn't the 16th Century anymore. Spain can't go about plundering the shores of Britain and South America for loot. They're going to need an armarda of wealth to take Suarez off our hands, and perhaps Xabi, Isco and Coentrao to boot.

Agree0 Disagree0

I forgot about the footballing genius! And if we lose both we can probably get Welbeck in and reunite the star pairing, silver lining.

Not heard a definite answer on this from anyone.Who are FSG's footballing advisers? To nominate Rodgers & Martinez when bigger names like AVB Laudrup and LVG were lurking. Must've taken someone with insight! Been yearning for thsi answer for a while

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If my memory serves me correctly then Michael Laudrup was one of the advisors that selected Brandan Rodgers along with the FSG board.

Laudrup was no a bigger name than BR in terms of management when we were deciding.

LVG was seen a nutter and AVG was too expensive. He went to Chelsea for something like 12 million pounds.

Ed02, to be fair to Big Al, he's referring to Ed001s earlier reply to the word - below - that Liverpool cannot build a stadium with greater than 60k capacity until the infrastructure is updated in the surrounding area, which won't be happening in the near future, so let's just be happy with the expansion plans which.

{Ed001's Note - again the clueless one strikes. The reason it is limited to below 60k is because of the limits set by the council due to the roads and other transport links being only able to cater for that amount. The council is proposing a longer term solution to that, which should also include a new stadium/expansion for Everton, following which Liverpool will be able to expand past 60k. By the way, it has never been easy to get a ticket to Anfield, that is why the season ticket waiting list is so absurdly large. You should know that, you seem to only care about Liverpool after all.}

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - then he misread my reply. Everton's stadium is not an issue for our stadium. It just so happens that their new stadium or Goodison expansion will be dealt with by the same plan that enables us to go beyond 60k. They also need the infrastructure to be improved to increase the capacity of their stadium.}

With Chelsae's Ramirez facing a retrospective ban, and has until Thursday (today) to appeal. Could he be banned for the weekend or will it be the case of the ban will start the week after the 'pool game?

Hi Eds, as always great work on the site. I was hoping you could give me an idea of the players we're moving on this summer and where we are looking to strengthen?

My guess for players leaving would be Coates, Cissokho, Toure (?), Agger or Skrtel, Moses, Aspas, Assaidi. Could you shed some light on this?

Areas we are looking to strengthen, centre back(?), wing-back, winger, striker.

Obviously it's difficult to know exactly where to strengthen as we have players coming in some of whom have done well out on loan ie. Suso, and Borini to some extent. But we must have an idea at the moment of what we want our Champions League squad to look like?

Thanks in advance,

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - You need to read the posts.}

Hi Ed2, apologies for being thick, but will the money spent on the redevelopment of the stadium land us further in the rubbish with FFP?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No, improvements to facilities are excluded.}

Little by little, we learn haha.
Does it have an actual positive effect on things ed? I remember reading that man city's village thing is one of their pro. aces up the sleeve. To show the ffp police.

Agree0 Disagree0

That is an excellent query OP!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Excluded Expenses are:
(1) Depreciation of tangible fixed assets. Example: The loss, if any, in value of the stadium, cars, IT equipment etc..
(2) Costs associated with the intangible fixed assets (other than player registrations). Example: goodwill, franchises, trademarks, copyrights etc..
(3) Expenditure on youth development activities. Example: All youth development expenses (housing, schooling, travel, medical etc.) are excluded from the calculations.
(4) Community development activities. Example: Outreach programmes, donations to the local community and charities, provision of equipment etc..
(5) Tax expenses. Example: Monies paid to the Inland Revenue, VAT etc..
(6) Finance costs related to construction of tangible fixed assets. Example: The interest on the £300M loan to build a new stadium.
(7) Interest payments on old loans (pre June 1, 2011). Example: Any interest due on a loan taken out for whatever purpose before June 1, 2011 is excluded from the calculations.
(8) Certain expenses from non-football operations. Example: This does not really apply to British clubs, but in other European countries clubs are often “sporting clubs” and have basketball, football, hockey team etc. all under one business.

Oh I see ed, so city are saying most of their losses are because of these things, so that's why they're not too worried. Fairs.
Btw have you seen platini/blatters comments? Saying no team will get banned? Exactly what I said recently, football is just a money game, anyone found guilty will just be fined. Kind of ironic eh?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Manchester City's issue is something else. It is nothing to do with Blatter but Platini is aware of the threat from one club to take UEFA to court if any sanctions are imposed on it at all. He is also aware of the whole proposal for a pan-European breakaway league and the meetings that were held in Monte Carlo at the end of March.}

Not trying to be arrogant ed, but I put all that in a post a few days ago and it was removed. Mind you, it's not arrogance as I've only deduced it from the info you have given. I just said about them shooting themselves in the foot, when there is a break away league being discussed. I'll go on record to say a team will never ever be removed from European competition because of ffp.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - How would you know that a team would "never be removed"? That is certainly what they are looking at for the future.}

24 Apr 2014 12:06:28
Does anyone else think that Chelsea playing a 'second team' could be dangerous for us due to player's/ fans thinking that the game could be easier.
I believe if they play a weakened defense then obviously we will stand a better chance but a lot of fringe players often want to prove a point an with such a big game coming up may think iif they do enough they could force their way into the squad/starting11.

Also their 'weakened midfield an attack will probably include lampard matic salah ba schurlle mikel.

I wouldn't exactly call that weak.

Any opinions

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I honestly think at this stage of the season and where we are and what the team can accomplish will override what ever level of team we will face. If we are playing acci Stanley under 15s on sunday BR and the team will be focused and aiming to play at the high level they have played at over the past few months. In my eyes I honestly don't believe Liverpool will relax for sunday. WE GO AGAIN!

Agree0 Disagree0

We can beat Chelsea no matter who they play.

Agree0 Disagree0

We all know jose is just playing mind games, the players he is talking about being a "second team' is just b.s. the players would be regular starters in most premier league teams. But not our's!!
Nice try Maureen-yo.
Lets just concentrate on getting behind the reds.
YNWA.

Agree0 Disagree0

This game is all about our players not theirs. If they stay professional, keep focused and give it everything we have nothing to worry about.

If they do that, win, lose or draw I wll be proud supporter.

Agree0 Disagree0

Tbh I think that his excuse is already what he's spouting 'weak team' I think the media may be fooled by his nonsense but nt us. It just makes me laugh how his weak team probably cost more than our team in cost!
I 100% think we will win just makes me laugh how he tries to pull the wool over everyone's eyes before a ball is kicked but I suppose that's what some people enjoy about him. The Spanish media found him out in months that's why he wanted to come back here!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes sb96
he got sussed out in spain
the way he's behaving this year he'll prob get sussed out by our media soon aswell. but they'll still like him for a quote in a love to hate way I reckon

it's weird because first time around he did have a real charisma. but it seems to have been replaced with an arseyness somewhere along the line? not sure if anyone else agrees

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets try not to fret about what Chelsea do. Their 2nd team will have the likes of Salah, Matic, Lampard, Mikel, Ba, etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

I genuinely think he's changed due to his success which I suppose many would but I remember when he poked the Barcelona coach in the eye an although I laughed it was shocking and prob as bad as Suarez biting if not worse because he could of done serious damage!
I think the success has made him a bit too arrogant so what was charismatic has now turned into just being a knob I loved him 1st time round but not anymore I find it boring and the way him and his coaching staff act is just embarrassing.
I think he will soon lose all respect due to his behavior but I hope not hopefully he can tone it down a bit an go back to being a great manager.
Btw am thinking 3-1 Sun studge last goal!

Agree0 Disagree0

He has always been arrogant guys and has not changed that much. When things do not go his way he can't handle it at all and so complains about all referees by mouthing off, which was all the more sad to see as he almost word for word said the same crap in the press conference!

When he losses a game he pokes someone in the eye or has a laugh with the opposition manager (pep) clearly in an uncomfortable manner for pep!
He is world class but when th edoor shuts on him he stamps his feet like a child

I have been reading a website [http://www.financialfairplay.co.uk] and was wondering if you had ever checked it out and could tell me if it was worth reading? I have read some FFP based articles in major newspapers and found consistent errors in them so was looking for somewhere more trustworthy (aside from reading the entire FFP regulations!)

Hi to all Eds and fellow Reds

Why are some of our fans enjoy or get a kick out of finding negatives even in the most positive of situations?
We are in CL next season but we worry about Suarez leaving. The stadium extension is not as extensive as some fans would've liked! Mignolet is not reliable; yet his penalty save helped our momentum. Our defence is leaky; show me a defence in PL that isn't. But now they're asking what if Rodgers leaves? This is a manager who is beginning to prove himself. Leaves to go where? He's just started this project, we haven't won anything yet and he seems intent on staying for the long term.
I don't know, maybe years of suffering has implanted a constant state of 'fearing the worst in good situations'? Well, hopefully winning the league this season will cure us. please.

My message to my 'worried fellow Reds' : Years of suffering are OVER my brethren. A new dawn is coming. And as Rodgers said 'if we don't win the league this year, we will win it next year.' We are well ahead of schedule, so enjoy, enjoy and enjoy. Just look across at the mancs and enjoy even more!

YNWA

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Leaves to go Barcelona or RM if they come calling for him. Obviously were going to be worried about losing a manager that's main goal is to go to Barcelona or Real Madrid!

Agree0 Disagree0

Actually agree with both of the first two posts above. I think there have been so many false dawns over the years that we have every right to be worried and cautious. Will our manager leave, will Suarez leave, will the stadium work start etc etc . However I also agree that we should enjoy every minute of what's actually happening on the pitch right now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed02 already said that Madrid are looking at the possibility of offering Rodgers a 2 year deal if Ancelotti is dismissed at the end of the season, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he accepted it unfortunately.

If he does leave I'd like us to target Guardiola, Bielsa or Rudi Garcia.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Ancelotti won't be dismissed - he may choose to leave if an opportunity comes up.}

Bielsa.all day. Outstanding'manager'

Agree0 Disagree0

Guardiola? You can see him leaving Bayern for Liverpool?

Agree0 Disagree0

Irish, he's constantly stated he wants to manage in the premier league and he's always showed his admiration for our academy, so why not be optimistic.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rodgers recently said he saw Liverpool as a "destination" and not a "stop off point."

So as long as we don't sack him, I don't think he's going anywhere - at least for a few years

Agree0 Disagree0

Mates I am a Man United fan Rodgers won't leave for Barcelona or Real Madrid Barcelona like Manchester United are on a slippery slope and Real Madrid are in as good a position as Liverpool finacially stronger but not stronger on the pitch Suarez wants Champions League football he has got it now and probably a league title to go with it Mignolet has been better than a lot of goalkeepers god some of you are big worriers you are just trying to find something to worriey about because well your used to it aren't you this all coming for a United fan p.s you deserve the title rather than stone age Chelsea or buying titles Man City

Agree0 Disagree0

Br won't leave, simple.

If he were to leave, I would look at Mauricio Pochettino (Southampton) or Rudi Garcia (AS Roma).

Biesla, I would avoid.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - There is interest from elsewhere in Pochettino.}

Wow, possibly the most sensible words that ever left the mouth of a united supporter. Thankyou paddy.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would you avoid biesla AG? he's a fantastic coach, A football genius (a quote I heard a while back, might have been ed1, I know he's a fan) I've been wondering why nobody has snapped him up for a while, I know he doesn't speak English and that's probably why, but it doesn't seem to affect pochettino.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rodgers will not be going anywhere, not for barce or real. I think he has fell in love with this club and is building something special.
his methods are being noticed and appreciated by the owners so he we probably get more room to make bigger decisions so can't see him leaving for a long long time

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Apr 2014 04:57:44
Pochettino. Would that be Spurs interested Ed02?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - He has had an offer from another club but they don't see him as being interested and someone at Spurs is interested in him as an option to van Gaal.}

24 Apr 2014 10:30:19
Why does it seem many of you want to get rid of Kolo toure?! It's pathetic. His experience is invaluable. Skrtel who get so much plaudits has literally made 4 times as much mistakes leading to goals. Toure is one of the reasons we are where we are in the table because of his experience and the belief he has given his team mates they can be champions. Because he has been in title winning squad and noticed their isn't much difference in quality, just the application.

Then BR, he has a year left on his contract so no matter who offers what he ain't going no where specially as he is about to sign a 5 year extension once the season is over. FSG doesn't want any distractions in a middle of a title challenge. He dreamed of Barca and Madrid before he came here, not now!

Also mourinho, I hope BR and his team don't care about the hype of a weakened team. It really doesn't matter. I can see him playing Demba with Schurrle & Salah behind him, a mifield 3 of Mikel-Matic-Lampard and a back 4 of Ivan-Luiz-Cahill-Cole, then for the CL he will move Ivanovic from RB to CB, Luiz from CB to DM, Azpilicueta will come in and Oscar-Willian-Hazard-Ramires-Eto coming in for the rest. They have suspensions and injuries which is the main reason for this rotation. He is missing 4-5 key players for anfield, and for the the bridge game as well.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't think the reasons for some fans wanting shot of him are difficult to understand: after a strong start he was very iffy (West Brom away being a particular "highlight") which has some fans worried about his ability to perform at a high level. Personally I think we need a balance to our squad and, as Kolo seems happy to be a squad player (and does have a wealth of experience), that he is certainly worth keeping.

Agree0 Disagree0

It will be very difficult to let Kolo Toure go.

Agree0 Disagree0

We do have players at the c
Ubwoth a wealth of experience already though.
Gerrard, Agger, Skrtle have all been there through big CL nights challenging for titles. So I don't see the experience be invaluable a reason.

He would be on high wages as he was a free, also of Turkish clubs ate interested if would make sense.

He's been great for this season, but we have Ilori to bring through or risk losing him, and I'd rather develop Ilori into a centre half for the next decade.

Agree0 Disagree0

But Agger or Skrtel will probably leave Jonesred so the experience could be important. More crucial is that Toure would be ok with a role primarily from the bench - it would be difficult to see Agger or Skrtel accepting that peripheral position. In terms of squad management keeping Toure makes a lot more sense.

just seen the new stadium plans.hmmmm not really impressed. is it me or is 150 mil for a 10,000 capacity increase not a bit much?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It's the first phase. John henry said they have to rebuild the current seats as well to allow for future expansion.

Agree0 Disagree0

The expansion is going to create a further 12, 500 seats atleast {considerably more than 10,000} and obviously sort after by the fans.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's a lot of money alright.
But it's cheaper than building a £400m new ground with 60k capacity, put it that way.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah but with a new ground that would allow further future development. where as 60,000 is the limit with the current redevelopment

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - There is no new ground option.}

I'd rather we did it this way than spend 400M and have no money for players for 5-10 years.

there's no reason why they couldn't eventually re-do the kop and centenary aswell in a stand by stand rejig

there's a lot of history in that place. talk to arsenal fans about highbury vs emirates for instance

Agree0 Disagree0

Nothing will happen for ages. Been years since all this stadium talk started and I think most people around are bored of it.

Ed02,

I appreciate that you don't really enjoy discussing the finances behind the game, but I am really interested and I'm sure a lot of others are so I will ask anyway.

What exactly do UEFA measure when working out a club's compliance with FFP?

The impression I got is that UEFA look at the club's Balance sheet and P&L account for the bottom line figure, Net profit(loss) & possibly Net Assets. I also have read that compliant club post a total loss of no more than £105m over 3 seasons with owner injection.

However some people seem to think it monitors only players transfer fees and the balance of those fees, as one person put it: Club A buys £150m worth over 3 years and sells £25m then they are non compliant. I am sure that is nonsense but I'm giving an example of why some people get confused.

Furthermore what power do UEFA have to stop clubs owners simply creating a holding company to buy equity in the company thus injecting cash through that method? I believe this was asked in the past as well.

I really would appreciate your help Ed and I'm sure everyone else would as well, thanks for your work and commitment to this site & good luck Sunday.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No, you are wrong. I have explained this in detail before. Search on FFPR.}

24 Apr 2014 16:17:53

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know, but I would think his lack of experience in Europe will count against him.}

we all remember seeing the proposed plans by h&g for the new stadium a few years ago, very impressive looking stadium.fast forward to apr 2014 I have just seen the plans by fsg for a redeveloped anfield and lolololol is it the 1st of april, I mean its just one stand lol, it will look like st james park when its finished or should that be half finished no disrespect to newcastle fans, I recall a lot on hear spouting about a 75k new stadium so that its bigger than old trafford blah blah, I spose realism has set in, as apart from the 2nd half of this season it usually isn't to hard to get a ticket for 45k anfield. which is very strange as we are allways being told by the scousers about their worldwide fan base.only saying

As a Liverpool supporter am so jealous of Spuds.
Specially Tim Sherwood and Levy, am also very jealous of the extreme world class players, Like Soldado and Chadli. But specially Dawson, Naughton and Lennon and Bentaleb, oooh how I wish we could Trade Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling, Coutinho, Henderson, Sakho, Enrique, Gerrard and Skrtel for Towsend & Rose. Haha

As a Liverpool supporter am delusional, I had delusions of finishing in the top 4 and the spuds had realistic hopes of winning the league before the season started. I guess we as Liverpool supporters should calm down eh? Stop being so "deluded" right? Riiiiight

are you serious? Get a grip of yourself lad. Heh

You (spuds) are the worst support their is in the country, a horrible attitude and apart from 2-3 players in your team all of them are massively over-rated and not to talk about Mr. Levy who would have already sold his mum if she scored a couple goals!

At least when am at anfield on Sunday I will sing with my "deluded" brothers 'we're going to win the league' while you sing 'we play europa league' Enjoy! LOL like you say!

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Apr 2014 10:56:34
Why? Do you honestly think Chelsea would have loaned us Lukaku? Or City loaning us Barry?
Because I seriously doubt that!
They moved to play and they wouldn't get in our team for starters.

I hope we don't bring in players on loan at all. I don't like the idea of devolping players for other clubs when we have a ton of younsters with huge potential. why would we loan a player like Deulofeu when we have Suso, Teixeira, Jordon Ibe who we are looking to loan out? Doesn't make sense at all. Maybe loan a GK to sit on the bench like Arsenal?

24 Apr 2014 14:10:29
We were short a left back this season.
B.R found us a short term option, now we don't need him, he can go back.
Sounds to me like an excellent use of the loan system.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Apr 2014 14:27:51
Its not about devoloping playera for others but getting in a couple of decent stop-gap loans at positions which we won't be financially able to strengthen .
Like an experience striker, a better backup for our left back then cissokho.

It'll help us workng under financial constraints we are in.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's the same old, same old story once again. Just because Martinez played the system and brought in (quite legally) three decent loanees, everyone slates EFC. You've had Cissokho and Moses, both of whom have been uninspiring shall we say. But Lukaku, Barry and Delboy have been a revelation. Of the three GB should sign for good, good should sign for a further 12 months with only RL likely to be moving on.
And we are called 'bitters'. Martinez is the way forward and you watch other managers following his lead in the summer, Brenda included.

Agree0 Disagree0

I have enjoyed watching everton play proper football this year. martinez is a good coach and I like him davey blue, a lot of coaches could learn a thing off him and that's sadly why he will leave everton in a few years to manage a top club. enjoy him while you have him. ps .please can you do a number on man city for us .

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with Dubred. I like Everton and always will. I remember standing next to an Evertonian in the Kop during my first derby game. We had a great laugh and the banter was brilliant. He got off with 5 mins to go and said "I bet you red sh**e score now".
Ronny Rosenthal scored the winner in the last minute. I felt for the lad as he must have been just outside the ground and heard the roar from the stadium!
I don't like the way that the derby has become as unfriendly as I have ever known it to be.
The argument that it has become less friendly due to Everton being a rival is BS as they were our main rivals in the 80's but the derby was always friendly during that time.
Sad really.

Ed - I have been eating venison every match day for the last 11 matches. However I was just given quite a few quail breasts this evening. I am worried that if I grill the breasts on Sunday my team might lose. Do you have a suggestion?

Raoul Duke

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - could you not just have the quail tonight and eat venison as usual on Sunday?}

It is much to late to fire up the grill in Florida, but I get your point Ed001. I guess it's venison again & a win.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - don't change a thing! It has been more than 15 years but I have still not forgiven an ex-girlfriend who washed my shirt, which then cost us the league. We had been unbeaten for months, top of the table and flying. She washes the shirt, it was the green and white quarters one, we just fell apart, finished 5th or 6th in the end, despite being in a two horse race for the title before she washed my shirt. Some things are just unforgivable, and I would hate to see you getting the blame from everyone if Liverpool slip up!}

American red.a routine is a routine my friend.keep the venison for Sunday. every match day I've worn blue shorts, a shocking t-shirt and blue espadrilles.I'll be wearing the same thing this Sunday

King Luis

Agree0 Disagree0

My routine is drinking a few Hoegaardens, a Belgian beer during watching the games. That's what I had at the first game vs. Stoke and after Migs saved the penalty, I just stuck with the same brand. The only time I got different beers, Becks (German) was vs. Arsenal at the Emirates, and we got beaten. So yes keep the venison, man!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ha-ha Ed001. That story reminds me of my then girlfriend and my shirt. I had an old LFC home shirt, this was maybe five or six seasons ago. Well I managed to get it signed by some players old and new at a home against Man U, which sadly finished 0-0. I was so chuffed to get my shirt signed, and was even lucky enough to get some pictures taken but the main thing was my shirt looked cool. Well, the idea was to get it signed maybe one or two more times at the next home game, and then have it framed for future generations to admire. So the next home game came along and I was looking for my shirt everywhere, but could I as hell find it. After searching high and low I decided to ask my then girlfriend if she knew where it was? She replied in the affirmative saying that she had washed it because "there was writing all over it!" I kid you not. I was gutted, needless to say she's no longer my girlfriend. she's now my wife.

{Ed001's Note - she would have been under the patio, er I mean gone away on a long holiday, if it had been my missus!}

Ha-ha very true Ed001. But I didn't have a patio back then, besides our kids had grown quite fond of her too. Couldn't do with them asking where was mummy and what is that smell in the garden daddy?

{Ed001's Note - I remember when my uncle got Kenny Dalglish's autograph on his brand new Liverpool coat, the day after Kenny resigned and he spent an hour trying to scrub it off. It was in permanent marker and it wouldn't shift! He was gutted at the time, but glad of it now.}

My routine is to keep skipping my community service. Why oh why did I pick Sundays?! 4 breaches and 2 court dates so far, wish Liverpool could play on a bloody Saturday for once!

As i'm in university halls my routine is watch the game on my laptop in my black away kit (carlsberg days) start winning by a couple goals have the uni wifi cut out fix it find the opposition have scored 1-2 and so on. that's why there's been so many 3-2 4-3 etc

I wore my old 1988 shirt (crown paints, jeez I'm getting old) even though it barely fits over my chest now, when we duffed Aresenal. I have it wore every game since and not washed it. My god it is manky, but y'now, small price, needs must and all that.

Stay strong Benny.

I had to switch hustles last spring when the heat was too strong, and we've been killing em ever since. Even though affidavits keep coming in, I'm not about to change up again.

I start with a nice big spliff at about 8am. Then I move onto vodka with a bit of orange juice before 9am.
10am another nepalese temple ball reefer followed by a little toot of my pipe.
A bit of midday sex with the missus and then its off to the offie for some carlsberg special brew.
1:30pm a final "nervous" philly blunt and then I am asleep by kick off. I have not seen a bloody game all season!

Eds what is the most high profile player we are looking at because we always have a major target that usually slips away like costa or mkhitaryan? Is it Konoplyanka? Rakitic? Ian Ayre has said we will be investing heavily in the squad to make it champions league standard surely that can't be done by buying players like Bertrand and Badu shouldn't there be interest in more higher profile players like khedira or Coentrao?

Nobody here or anywhere else outside the club knows anything about what we are going to do financially, what do you think these editors are? actual directors?, stop asking ridiculous questions and enjoy supporting the club, youll only take the shine off the football for yourself worrying about things that are nobodies business,
We're top of the league and things are looking rosy,
Whats the problem?

Thanks for that mate but if its ok with you i'll worry about whatever I want, especially things to do with the financial/business side of things given that it will likely have a significant impact both on and off the pitch for the foreseeable future.

I personally Believe ed001 is a former binman, who when taking the trash, used to sift through for bits of copper. and Other up recycling products. From the money he got from copper sales. He invested in a few vans and employed his mates to round round houses picking up the metals, coppers, fridges etc. He made his first £1million turnover by 1992. From there his business has grown.and he now own the Uk's largest up recycling business. He's currently out in (is it dubai) trying to convince some sheiks and arab business men, to allow him to recycle all the left over materials from the building sites.

eds, do you believe mourinho in saying he will field a weak side at anfield? it makes sense to only because of the atletico tie on Wednesday, but honestly just sounds like another mind game, he will surely want lfc expecting to compete with youngsters when he will probably play as strong a squad of top players that they have

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I am not as naïve as the Liverpool fans to care at all about what he says and does. When asked by a journalist later this week about another "biting" incident he will say no more than "we will ask for an HIV test on Suarez and leave it to the FA to resolve.

He's telling the truth by default. Due to injuries to Hazard, Terry and Cech and Eto'o (although less significant) and a potential ban for Ramirez it will be a weaker side.

I can't help feeling a little underwhelmed by the new stadium plans. Maybe underwhelmed is the wrong word - perhaps 'missed opportunity' might better describe my sentiment. Of course a 60 thousand seat stadium is better than a 45 thousand capacity.
But I think we're missing a trick here. Would a ground share with Everton not make better sense to both clubs?
I'd be interested to hear the views of others on this suggestion/idea.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

From the precedents set in Europe I would say a groundshare is neither a good nor steady model to follow.

Agree0 Disagree0

I remember on an Anfield tour a few years ago the stadium tour guide told the group some statistic that it's not only capacity which needs to increase to be competitive with the other top stadiums but boxes too. Emirates has 150 boxes some selling for over £1m a season. Anfield has 13.

I guess it's better than not expanding.

Outs: (£18million)
Victor Moses - Loan Return
Aly Cissokho - Loan Return
Kolo Toure - Released
Iago Aspas - £5million
Martin Kelly - £5million
Ousamma Assaidi - £4million
Pepe Reina - £4million

Ins:
Micah Richards - £8million
Luke Shaw - £22million
Yevhen Konopylanka - £15million
Will Hughes - £8million

Believable0 Unbelievable0

So simple. Ayre needs to read this. Why bother with negotiating when you can just pull names and figures out of a hat?

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd agree with most outs. For me it will be a lot of the players who haven't featured this season or have been loaned.
May also be some youngsters who leave due to not progressing etc.

Outs.

B. Jones.
J. Reina.
J. Robinson.
S. Coates.
K Toure.
A. Wisdom.
O. Assiaidi.
C. Coady.
I Aspas.

Ithink Kelly will be loaned out for the season to gain fitness form etc. I only include wisdom as I think he won't get a place as a centre half, and in right back we stil have Johnson, Kelly and Flannaghan.

For ins I would like us to look at the below but sign one from each section.

F. Coentroa.
A. Moreno.

I Munian.
X. Shaqiri.

Y. Konoplyanka.
J. Iturbe.

A couple of fringe players say like a young keeper and I'd be happy with our business for new season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why is kolo toure leaving?

Agree0 Disagree0

Because we have :

T. Ilori.
D. Agger.
M. Sahko.
M. Skrtle.

I think one of Skrtle or Agger will go this summer wouldn't hazard a guess at which, although if you had asked me last summer I'd have said Skrtle. I think this summer I'm edging more towards Agger.
I think once one is sold Rodgers will try and sign a further one.
My preference would be De Vrij of Feyenoord who is apparently looking to leave.

A choice of Sahko, Ilori, De Vrij and one of Agger or Skrtle would be more than enough to cope with a full campaign.

I think you should undertake a 'piece' explaining money to us, if possible.
With the end of season approaching thoughts (and speculation) are naturally turning to what we might and might not do in the market. Though it seems that you eds are clearly stating that we are hamstrung by debt, meaning:
Little to no transfers 'in'.
Disappointed and confused fans.
No Champions league 'holy grail' money
Stadium expansion 'worries'.
Fear of losing a disillusioned Suarez
Fear of losing our excellent manager
Paranoia among fans leading to zombie apocalypse.
Talk to us about money, Eds. As someone said earlier. 'Make us understand' where we're at financially and what we can realistically hope for or should be concerned about.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - You have been assumptive about all of this to a level to demonstrate why we don't talk about money. So to summarise each of your points - - given that Liverpool has debt which I assume you are contesting:
(a) Nobody has said that - but fans like you want to see the team replaced every year - they have obviously screwed up again.
(b) You will be disappointed unless there are double figure changes - you are all pretty much confused.
(c) Champions League money comes in when you play in it - not the season before.
(d) The rebuild program is constrained - you need to be a complete fuck-wit not to know that.
(e) Suarez will go at the drop of a hat if the right team steps in.
(f) It won't happen because others are not so sure of him - but one side (and I suspect another) have had him on the list of people to discuss.
(g) There is potentially a scenario which will see less than 20 new signings this summer which will see the fans burning down Anfield.
(h) I have explained over and over again where LFC are financially and the good place the owners aspire to. But the club is in debt and the owners will spend but need a sustained presence in the CL and some nice shirt money and a new Standard Chartered deal and want to get in to the pan-euro discussions and boost the value so they can recover there money and some if they were to sell. I am not suggesting they will sell, but they want an asset that is not a money pit.}

To be perfectly honest, I'd be pretty happy going into next season with the same potentially title winning side we have now. Not sure why everyone is so bent on this 'depth' stuff. We have plenty of players who are quite decent (e.g. Suso, Borini, Aspas, Alberto) already not getting any game time with us. Slow and steady wins the race, no need to go off and spend millions on more players who aren't going to get material game time on the pitch in my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

Assumptive?!
I think you mis-read the ethos of my post. I am not assuming anything. I am clarifying what '[you] eds SEEM to be saying'.
(a) In fact if you read my previous posts I have been strongly advocating for VERY LITTLE PLAYER CHANGE.
(b) Why would you assume that I want wholesale player changes because I merely ask a question?
(c) This is related to the fact that it seems to be the perception of many fans that the champions league money will be our 'holy grail' and thus make us one of the 'big spenders' again - when clearly it wont. The tabloids seem to be fuelling this perception also. HENCE MY ASKING YOU TO EXPLAIN OUR FINANCIAL SITUATION.
(d) As a fan that is not local to Liverpool (in fact I don't even live in your country) I am not up to speed on the rebuild program. Not sure if this makes me a 'complete f**k wit'.
(e) This part of the question relates again to finances. As a fan I don't know what Suarez thinks/feels. As a fan I have this romantic notion that perhaps with us doing so well he might have fallen in love with us and might stay? The media tell us if we make champions league he'll stay and if we invest he'll stay. Well, we made champions league. Therefore I am merely enquiring as to our financial position with regard investment over the summer window and how this will affect Suarez future.
(f) I wasnt really worried about Brendan departing until relatively recently. Now I am not so sure.
(g) I feel your response is somewhat linked to the fact that you feel many of us wish to see wholesale changes - when in fact the opposite is true in many cases. I believe many fans are more aware than you think.
(h) I don't agree with the sugar-daddy approach to football taken by clubs such as Man City, PSG, Chelsea etc. Which is why I would prefer the self-sustaining model which the owners seem to be advocating. If we can't afford a player then we can't and shouldn't buy him. Brendan and the club have recently undertook this approach 'missing out' on players such as Mktaryan, Salah, etc. Contrary to what you might believe; my position is to applaud this aproach.
From what you are saying you have obviously posted extensively and in great detail about our financial position. I apologise if I have failed to see these. I love this site and visit it often. However, as I said earlier, I have missed these finance relateed posts of yours. If I had have read them I wouldn't have asked you for details on our financial position.
It may be the case that you are asked the same question by different people from time to time. I would imagine this to be a hazard that comes with the running of a website that has so many visitors.
However, if my original question/post annoyed you then I apologise unreservedly.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I have repeatedly explained the situation and have no intention of discussing finances any further.}

According to the telegraph, abramovic has agreed to let Jose rest 11 players! Sounds like complete rubbish! Didn't even think that was legal, I remember someone doing it a few years back and got fined/threatened points or something or other!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - They have your goat don't they.}

Rules were changed after Blackpool got fined for it a few years back. They can play anyone from the 25 man squad they want. I doubt very seriously it'll be anything other than business as usual (minus the obvious ones) on Sunday. Either way, who cares? We play Chelsea on Sunday with whoever they decide to field.

Agree0 Disagree0

People are saying JM is up to his old mind-game tricks and we should ignore it, but there are so many posts on here about it, so it's obviously worked!

This so-called weakened side or B-Team will still have cost more than our squad and will still have the likes of Oscar, Lampard, Salah, Ba, Torres, Schurrle etc.

Also, don't forget that it is a team managed by JM, so you can expect a lot of bus parking, negative tactics and them trying to nick it 1 nil.
