Imagine this had happened..

-----Suarez----------Ba----------
-------------Gerrard--------------
-Mata-----------------A.Johnson
--------------Lucas----------------
-Baines--Agger--Cahill--Kelly-
--------------Reina-----------------

Ba: Free
Mata: 25-30 mil
Johnson: 20-25 mil
Baines: 20-25 mil
Cahill: 8-10 mil

Total: 73-90..(That is a relistic price range)

Carroll: 35 mil
Downing: 18 mil
Henderson: 18? Mil

Total: 71 mil

If only we were in the champions league.. When we had the spending money.

Paul.

As long as we're imagining things, can I imagine Aguero and Hazard please?

Enrique is the best left back in the league, 10x better then Baines what are you on?

Tom.

Baines< Enrique & 17M cheaper
Mata is good but not for 25 M
Ba wouldn't pass a LFC physical.
Cahill hoof more than Carra.

If you want to dream, we could have got silva and villa 3 summers ago but the cowboys wouldn't back Rafa. If we got them and Saurez(Happy B-day mate) Bellars for a part time role we may be ............................... Wake up.

Can I imagine that I won the lottery last week? Wooooooo

No matter what , the next 7 days will tell us everything we need to know , i think this window as gone realy quick , no matter what anyone hears , we will all know the answers in a week , i cant wait for it to end so we can move on , it will be dissapointing if we dont get a right winger , or a striker but i trust kenny and i hope his harsh words wake up a few of the players that are playing bad ,

Team V City

......................Reina...........................
.............Skrtel..........Agger..................
.Johnson.................................Enrique..
....................Henderson......................
..........Gerrard................Adam.............
.Bellamy.................................Downing.
.......................Carroll.........................

Doni, Carragher, Kelly, Shelvey, Suso, Kuyt, Maxi.
Lets get at them with high tempo at really push in the 1st half an hour and then see where we are then. Not sitting back, we need to keep it tight in the middle and really attack them. One goal isn't enough to sit back on.
Come on redmen lets get to Wembly!

Arsene Wenger answers his critics regarding the substiturtion of Alex OC by saying that he has made 50,000 substitutions as a manager. Now didn't another Frenchman exaggerate recently and is it a national trait?
Midsred

How can those numbers possibly stack up. 3 sunstitutions per game its like 16600 games, I think Arsene has been 'diving' into the Absynthe again.

Anyone else think Hoilette and Samba would be not only good, but realistic signings? Both are U/26 and wouldnt cost too much with their contracts running out. Hoilette fast and has good feet, usually plays on the left but is right footed so opposite wing could be an option, Samba rough and ready defender who is usefull in both boxes from set plays. Whats your thoughts guys Bel=Yes Unbel=No. Love to hear our thoughts aswell Eds.

I like this idea, Samba exactly the sort of rugged defender as in tackle first ask questions later as in Jamies style. Hoilette will be class in years to come and already good enough to figure in the first team picture for us
Marco

Hoilett I do think would be a good signing, given the price and experience in the league, but perhaps not as good an option as others out there. Samba - not for me, we have a settled back line and have Coates if we need aerial presence

Red Ollie

Coates in the air will be great, and for a no nonsense defender, i can see this coming from Wilson when his timing regarding intercepts and tackling develops a little further.

Red7.

I'd rather Skrtel. What has he done wrong this season that we need to replace him??

Wouldn't replace him, no way, but down the track we're going to need backup and/or a replacement for somebody, i'm just saying i think we have the cover coming through.

We could do worse than buy Wilfred Zaha, Nathaniel Clyne, Jordan Rhodes, Junior Hoillet and Joe Allen.
I know we NEED a world-class player or two but, let's face it, we don't have too much to offer any foreign mercenary at the moment.
No Euro shop-window opportunity for these Argies etc. means we'll have to develop British youngsters as per Kenny's plan A !
He knows he 's fu@&ed up big-style buying Carroll, Adam and Downing but Henderson's one for the future and Adam cost very little by comparison.
The latter two we'll keep but our faith in Kenny has been severely tested. I'm not eighteen...I'm 47 years old and I know how sh£T Kenny Dalglish can be in the transfer-market...It really isn't his strong-point and Damien Comolli's record is also open to debate.
I would even say that there are posters on this site who's judgement I would trust more in the transfer-market than Kenny Dalglish and Damien Comolli. Difference is..Kenny would accept the criticism but Comolli's sense of self-importance wouldn't allow the suggestion.
If we are short of money we should look at using our standing in World football to attract the best of the un-tapped talent in the world.
Who do we use as scouts?
Are they good enough?
I suggest that we don't spot talent, or don't don't readily invest in talent quickly enough.
The scouting system needs looking at before we can develop as a Club.
We are bringing some very talented youngsters to the club but our first-team signings are nothing short of embarrassing........Voronin,Degen,Cole,Meireles,Poulsen,Carroll,Henderson,Adam,Konchesky..etc
I can think of tonnes more crap signings but I don't want to depress myself.
I earn slightly more than a Romanian Big-Issue seller so I don't feel qualified to question the current agenda but I do have a season-ticket, I am going tomorrow night and Saturday and, yes, it's more than I can afford. But, I think I have the right to vent my frustration on forums like this....same as anti-Wenger Gooners and other disgruntled fans.
I'm told the owners are to attend tomorrow night .......I'm gonna be right next to the Director's box (Main Stand...Block MD...Row 6)
Right next to the directors etc.
I just hope that they are there to sign some players worthy of the shirt!
ANFIELDPETE

The 5 players you mention, I think is actually a good shout, could probably be funded by sales. All young, talented and already producing performances at a good level.
Resale value is also good if it don't work with a couple. Radical Thinking! mm! and not looking for International superstars out of our reach. Good post.

Eds can you tell me if the traffic on the Liverpool banter page has dropped at all recently because I used to come on the website every couple of hours but now I loathe coming on due to all the fickle fans we have suddenly found ourselves with. {Ed001's Note - think yourself lucky you don't have to edit them all!}

the player from inter could well be forlan he knows the english game a good goal scorer but it could be zarate he is young and fits liverpools young player policy but how much would zarate cost and if forlan did come to liverpool it would be only a loan deal.
timmolfc

It wouldnt be zarate as zarate is only in inter on loan

Just a thought but do any of the Ed's think that the new stadium is the priority for the Boston crew or at least shouldn't it be to generate more revenue. What come's first on their targets and business plan ? Champion's league, stadium or the league ? {Ed002's Note - I am sure they are not ranked in that way. It is a business, they are not kids.}

Whats the update on Villyan Bijev? We havent heard much about him really, as he was shipped off to Fortuna Düsseldorf quickly. Is he doign well? I assume he is a long way off the first team.

24 Jan 2012 21:59:50
I think the only possible players coming in are as follows.

Isla. Udinese wing back
Coutinho. Inter centre mid
Coustaganouis. Inter striker.
Texiera. Gronnigen striker.
Krasic. Juve winger.

I am basing this on reports only so not 100 percent on this obviously.

I think (again only based on reports) that we will sign Texeira and Krasic on loan. They are the two problem areas that lack depth at present.

Summer I would like to see the below arrive, but this would depend on CL qualification, which is starting to slip away as the weeks go by.

I. Affelay. Barcelona.
R. Soldado. Valencia.
S. Canales. Real Madrid.
J. Vertonghen Ajax.

I think these would be attainable in the summer, possibly without CL qualification.
I think we will see Kuyt, Rodriguize, Aqualani, Cole and maybe Johnson leave.

Has any1 notice an improvement in Andy Carrol
since the start of the season? Question open to
all LFC fans except RedTurk.

Yes, I like all true fans will support him

I have seen improvement, especially in the first half against Bolton - he looked like the Carroll of old at Newcastle

Hans

I'm hoping I will tomorrow

Chris in Tamworth

Last two games put in a proper shift worked hard and tried i thought his sharpness is coming bk?
jaylair89

Oh my oh my, still searching for improvements from andy carroll, im pretty sure kenny is at the end of his tail with him and anymore dire performances, he might be put up 4 sale.RedTurk

So a true fan is someone who never says a bad word about a Liverpool player Mr Anonymous?

Ozone

I doubt we'll sell him (who'd buy him?). But if we can sign a good young striker then we'll start him with Suarez most matches and have Carroll as another option. I should imagine we'll sign 2 strikers by the start of the next season, with Kuyt likely to leave. But just one good young striker will completely change our team. Our best team with the current squad is arguably 4-5-1 anyway so Carroll won't be guaranteed a place in the squad if we sign another striker (I've used Texeira in this example as he seems the most likely):

Reina
Johnson-Skrtel-Agger-Enrique
Lucas-Adam
Bellamy-Gerrard-Downing
Suarez

Doni, Carra, Kelly, Spearing, Henderson, Kuyt, Texeira

Stop worrying about Carroll I say, he's only a problem if we're relying on him. Just forget about the price tag and think of him as a good alternative option to call off the bench

Red Ollie

I agree red ollie.

Eds with all these 'supporters' calling for Dalglish To be sacked if the results don't go are way can you see it happening. I don't see him being sacked and don't believe he should be, but was interested in your view on the matter.
Invernesian {Ed001's Note - I can't see it happening, there have been no signs of it, thankfully.}

I fear that the joy experienced by all reds, of seeing hodgson sacked and the upturn in performance since dalglish took over, has been misinterpreted by a few fans into thinking that as soon as one or two results go wrong the manager should be booted out because there's always someone better ready to step in.
if they can't see the difference they don't understand the game

With all the bitching on this site,
did anyone realize LFC are actually
playing a match tomorrow?

Tactics anyone?

Looks like it will be Andy Carroll up front,
so some of you may not even bother to watch.

Reina
Kelly skrtel Agger Enrique
Henderson Gerrard Adam
Bellamy Kuyt
Carroll
Invernesian

I'll be watching and cheering him on along with any player that pulls on the shirt

Chris in Tamworth

Doesn't Bellamy struggle to play twice in four days. I think he will be sub and play Saturday.

I wouldn't mind seeing-

Reina
Kelly Carragher Skrtel Enrique
Agger
Bellamy Gerrard Shelvey Downing
Carroll

An experiment, but I think it might just work (?)

I hope Carroll plays up front, needs a run of games. I should think we'll go 4-5-1. Can't see Bellamy starting after playing on Saturday but Kuyt will probably get a nod:

Reina
Johnson-Skrtel-Agger-Enrique
Gerrard-Adam
Kuyt-Henderson-Downing
Carroll

Regarding Bellamy, Tomorrows game is for a final place, Saturdays isn't so I reckon he's playin tomorrow. bob

Heard rumours of a friendly at Gronningen
to help generate money for the club as part
of the deal of their striker. I've been to Gronningen
a few times and I can tell you its a great place to go,
the place is rocking at 4am, I met loads of people there
on a night out on the town, which made me think the
dutch are a great bunch of people. Gronningen is the
place where Suarez played before going to PSV. So
if a friendly takes place between the clubs I can recommend
getting tickets. The only down side is dutch beer, which is
the one of the worst in the world IMO.

Hey man, Heineken ish pashable and Grolsch ish groovy man.
Hollandsch cool man.
The Real Steve McClaren

PSV I thought it was Ajax?

Yer, but the problem is you drink and drink and drink in holland and nothing happens. In the end I had to go into one of those coffee shop things just to intoxicate myself a bit. I would say, the quality of british footballers is questionable, but british beer (in the north of england) is the best in the world without question.

Pint of Speckled Hen please mate.

Have you never had a pint of guinness in dublin mate. {Ed016's Note - I have been to Holland, loved the people and the lifestyle, would not be a bad place to retire}

Speckled's from the south east isn't it?

Morlands(green king) old speckled hen is brewed in bury st edmunds, suffolk but i have to admit i do like a drop every now and then but my favourite from greene king is abbot ale other beers i like are fullers london pride and many of the shepherd neame beers from faversham in kent. All this from a guy who was bought up in the midlands on davenports drum bitter.

Xherdan Shaqiri refuse Galatasaray he says that he like to play in PL or BL he says for Liverpool or Bayern Munchen . If he comes with Suarez and Gerrard would be the best partnership in Premier League . So I wish that he comes I love him and number 10 is for him .

He wants champions league so its either munich, juventus, inter, united, city, chelsea or spurs

Italy will have 3 team in CL next year. and even he join Juve, Inter and Milan he sure not find first team football.

No, Suarez and Gerrard will never see the ball is Shaqiri comes to us.

24 Jan 2012 20:47:18
On tomorrows game, anyone fancy agger to play at CDM to control silva if spearo isn't fit? Would suit him, he's certainly more defensive than adam, hendo, gerrard etc. Thoughts?

And maybe give coates a go at cb - he looks very good, tho is feet might be a bit show for aguero

I agree something has to be done about the lack of a DMF is Spearo is still injured. Maybe 3-centre halves and two wingbacks, or Agger playing in front of the 2 centerhalves. I hope its not going to be a 9 man defense.

Why not conor coady??RedTurk

Not sure if this is the right game to try that, but it seems worthy of consideration to me. Would also like to see Kelly in for Johnson, but that's just me....

Why not conor coady?RedTurk

Doubt it. Coady played 90 minutes today against Blackburn reserves

Cant play coates tomoz they will pick him off like we did with there savic.

balotelli got a 4 match ban for stamping PARKER, man city without: kompany, toure,y toure, balotelli

Seriously!! I thought that the evidence was very circumstantial - Balotelli only has to say, 'no' - I was falling down and put my foot back quickly to try and get my balance. My feeling is that he did it deliberately but proving it would be hard...

But still have a world class squad to pick from....... who ever is missing it will be a very hard game

I thought that as well seems strange to charge him, even more so considering the alleged 'stamp' missed. And even more baffling that Lescott has gotten away with nearly knocking Kaboul out. But then again i'm a big fan of Balotelli's, i wouldn't have him anyway near Liverpool but he's a good player none the less.

I really think the lads can pull it off tomorrow, its a real shame Spearing isn't fit like but maybe, just maybe Coady can get some game time and have a go at keeping Silva quiet.

always a red

Luckily the FA think he "probably" did it on purpose!

Sure that's all the rage these days!

Gaelic Red

Didn't Coady play for the reserves today, so can't see him tomorrow night?

Keith

Doubt Coady will be there. He just played 90 minutes today against Blackburn Reserves.

Fair play lads i don't watch the reserves as much as i used too, how did he get on btw.

always a red

Love how the FA charge Balotelli for kicking an opponent...
Yet appeal Rooney's red against Montenegro... for kicking an opponent.
If I remember correctly, they stated his emotions were running high and he immediately regretted it.
Surely emotions are fairly close to the surface during a game, and most people who do something stupid immediately regret it!
Blatant hypocrisy from the FA, but at least it benefits us Wednesday night!

Hey everybody, Here's my two cents on what i would like to happen. I would like us to sign zaha (palace) lalanna (southampton) callejon (r.madrid) McClean (sunderland) defoe (spurs) shaqiri (basel) van der wiel (ajax) and hummels (dortmund)

id like us to sell Adam, Carroll, Henderson, Maxi, Downing, Kuyt and i think Carragher should retire, Great for us in the past but he's a liability now.

Finally, I think Kenny should resign, His results have been awful and if it was anyone else in charge we would be asking for him to be sacked, Dont just all attack me, Think with your heads, Not with your hearts, Yes, Kenny is a legend, But he cant do it anymore, Comolli gets a say of who we sign, Kenny just agrees and im still embarrassed after seeing kenny in the ''suarez t shirt'' Do you really think any other manager would come out wearing a t shirt like that on live tv? There's no way hiddink, guardiola, mourinho, ancelotti, ferguson or manchini would do it, it was so embarrassing but he was told to do it and he just said yes, anyway, off the point there, id like joachim low to manage us, hes a great manager with a great mind for todays game, kenny is too old fashioned, They will never sack him because of his name at anfield, what do you guys think?

Sg

I personally think your a whopper an it be much appreciated if you kept your deluded, unhelpful and pointless opinions to yourself. Go an play on FIFA an live out your fantasy there an stop boring me!
The swan

And I'd like you to go support citeh or I'd like you to start getting behind Kenny and the players like a proper fan.

Not so much a rumour but do you think that if Liverpool were to achieve success in both the carling cup and the FA cup (i.e. winning) that we would be able to attract a "higher" quality of players?

please post as rumour...would love the feedback.

Certainly shows players we are on the way up.
can't hurt can it.

MIKEY

I would be happy to see some trophies back at anfield, but would it attract higher quality players? Great question, but i wouldn't think so unfortunately. if we came 4th but won NO cups that is more likely to attract players as everyone wants to play at the top level now regardless of a teams success in the domestic competitions (excluding league title)

Good Question though!

Yes and no.

Yes because it would let people know we are back winning things again and are somewhat on the up.

No because we would still have failed to qualify for the CL.

It depends how positive you are, are those trophies a stepping stone that we will build on next year, or will we be equally as inconsistant again and fail to qualify for Europe.

Most top players can go to PSG, City, Barca, Milan, Madrid and United - get paid more money and be in the CL, so it'll be difficult for us.

Adam

Would you, as a star footballer, want to join Udinese if they won the Copa Italia and finished 7th in Serie A and didn't make the CL? I suspect it means nothing to foreign players. British players? We already have all of those!

Errm in terms of attracting foreign talent no, However would probbaly help us attract more domestic players.

Think about all the smaller teams who have won the Carling Cup in recent years. Top foreign players want european football.......Unfortunately

Top footballers want top european football, The champions league, Its that simple.

What happened to the days when players signed for a good club with a good fan base and worked hard with their team mates to achieve the step up and play at the top level? Hate this DEMAND that they have nowadays that they will only sign for clubs that are immediately right now in the CL etc and handed on a plate to them! Torres comes to mind! Come on reds lets get to that league cup final tomorrow night and then push on for the rest of the season. YNWA

Eds have u heard of a player called Dusan Tadic? Now he does look good and having him and a striker this jan would only be good business for lfc. Just what we need.

Gezza1982

{Ed001's Note - all I know about him is that he is being talked up by followers of Dutch football as the next big thing.}

I've only watched him the once, all i noticed was that he's a very busy player, i think he was playin' as a number 10 then moving out wide a bit, he seemed to like to have a LOT of touches on the ball, apart from that he didn't really stand out, but as i said, i've only seen him the once.

Hope Liverpool players don't shake evra's hand on Saturday. Zaydan123

Disagree mate. Showing disrespect after all the media already given would only open up the already dragged out issue. Forget the whole thing and move on. Be class. I love Liverpool, but the Suarez-shirt thing was a low in my view.

I hope they are above that.

MIKEY

Then you are no better than Suarez, grow up

I disagree because this would hurt the clubs' reputation badly. It'd just be like to tell media to come and bite us. YNWA

We are liverpool fc and should never stoop down to the mancs level, so i hope every liverpool player shakes evra's hand! to prove we are the bigger person and club, YNWA

clm96p

I really hope not... I'm hoping we can not even boo the guy but I think that might asking way too much.

I just want to put the whole thing behind the club and Suarez and move on...

Zaydan, Well done! Stupid post of the day.

The Irish Rover

Even if we didn't boo evra you can bet them lot will crucify suarez, wait and see

I hope all the Liverpool players will shake Evra's hand before the game on Saturday.
I also hope they don't wash their hands after having a pee before the game.

Fergie will not play Evra- guaranteed

Don't shake ? The bad press ship has sailed so please yourselves - maybe bring out a new tee shirt aswell - you lot don't have to stoop to anyone's level as there's nobody lower than you - but do your best and maybe there's some new sub level to be explored

If we do this, it'll be time to change the club song...

"No one likes us, we don't care!"

No thanks.

Red7.

At our league match when Suarez is back (not the next one), we should show how we are better than them. Suarez should shake Evra's hand and if Evra refuses then it shows that he is a w@nker.

If their fans abuse Suarez, especially with missiles, then it will be them looking like the uneducated fools that they are.

We should not aggravate anyone anymore by jeering at Evra.

Hey eds thanks for all the great work! I think I'm getting my hopes up way to much by reading people post about Pato to Liverpool? That just sounds stupid to me but it would be so good if it happened so I keep scrolling down to see if the eds comment on any of the rumours but they haven't is that because it just sounds stupid? And I read last summer Liverpool were interested in Diego perotti has that been re-newed? {Ed001's Note - I can't believe talk of Pato is still going round. He is injury prone, not actually very good and his wages are obscene.}

24 Jan 2012 19:23:25

I have condensed all the right answers together.

The stupid questions and comments are easy to find...

Answer 1 -

"You Don't Know What You're Talking About":

Kenny has done more for the team, the fans and the owners of The Club in the past 12 months than years of so called European coaching experts.

It was they, not Kenny who took the mighty LFC away from the roots and took us down dead ends of dead beats who never repayed the love and money of the fans and skittered away from Liverpool & England at their earliest convenience as soon as any storm came.

See; Morientes, Mascherano, Alonso, Torres,

A2 - "What Do You Expect? You're An Idiot":

Kenny took over a club in shambles. He has recruited a new coaching team, is bringing on talent from the Academy, has restructured half the first XI - and got rid of a load of dross that was poisoning our squad.

And he has helped the greatest Football Club in the world find its heart and soul again and get on the right Yes. Sure. Its a tough road and it is not an easy track at times. We may stumble along the way. Tears and smiles. But its the right way. Barca, Bayern - yes, even those Mancs have their way. We have found ours again and it may take a while to perfect. But when it does..

Because I know he has taken us there before and he knows how to get there. I don't know when we'll get there but Kenny Will Never Walk Alone.

I am following greatness. Who are you following?

A3 - "No, We Dont Want / Can't Afford That Player":

We're not funded by dodgy Russian mafia or corrupt oil fumed dictatorships. We don't make sports management decision on basis of fag packet calculations and a pirated copy of FIFA2007. We are not going to build a fantasty football team. Learn about the thinking and track record of our owners and learn about Kenny Dalglish. It takes time.

In case you're confused;

We're owned by a proper sports business.
We're managed by a great footballing man
We're supported by proper football fans.
We have history and pride.
We play a style of football
We recruit & train for that style of football

Nothing is achieved without hard work:

That is The Liverpool Way.

A4 - "No, We Don't Want To Play Like That":

If you want tippy-tippy-tappy-pippy football, go and support Arsenal, Barca. Or Blackbool. LFC never should have moved away from their mastery of quick forward moving, pass and move. This was linked with solid team values entrenched in a bond that keeps players loyal to the Club long after their career ends. That's priceless.

A5 - "You Sound Ridiculous. And You Are An Idiot":

Idiots like you said he same about Lucas Leiva and Danel Agger. Get it through your thick skull. Young players show promise and raw potential and need to be coached and blended, physically trained and tactically educated. It takes time. Not weeks, not months. And sometimes a season or two. Kenny is building a young team and not everyone will click at the same time.

Instead of whinging like a 12 year old girl who's not allowed to wear her favourite pyjamas - why don't you man up and start supporting your team and help to build a culture of positivity around this great Club?

A6 - " There Is A Clue In The Noun "Supporter":

Can you please work out what the verb is?

And when you do, this is what you sing:

"All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play
And could he play!
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road"

I'm singing this tomorrow with a lot of love for the team and hope in my heart. So called fans... are you?

I want the opinion from the LFC fans... Remember when Kenny became manager and we played some fantastic attacking football "just like the good old days" my dad would say... and then Steve clarke came in and we stopped playing that way...Does anyone think that is true?

Steve Clarke joined days/ a few weeks after Kenny last year

Hans

Steve clark has done a great job since coming to Liverpool with some of the stupid comments on here I hope none of the LFC staff read these pages

Weve played good attacking football all seasons jus we CAN NOT score i mean we have hit the bar 20x, If them had gone in and won the games it would be a different story.

ACHILLES.

SC made our club better

I'd say the defense was leaking goals
all over the place until Clark came in,
and now we have one of the best defensive records in the prem. I'd also say that statistically we are still playing very attacking football, just not scoring, so have to disagree, I'll even click the button. Sorry

Lets cut the Kenny out stuff till may lets see what kenny's team do first. If we win our first trophy for 6 years then that to me is progress. Im not happy with the results of late but lets give kenny and the lads all the support they need for the city game. I saw a comment down this page that said i would rather have rafa, torres, mash, back but forget about rafa he was a control freak who made the worse subs.Torres and mash wanted to leave and people want them back its laughable. Judge kenny at the end of the season and forget about the players that left and support the ones that want to play for the shirt. This is liverpool we support our lads win loose or draw.

This site has began to depress me, lots of people whining and complaining about how if they were in charge we would be winning the league as we speak.

People quoting things like why did we buy Carroll for 35m when we could have got Llorente for 24m when no one would be able to buy Llorente for 24m.

Hindsight is an amazing ability that everyone seems to have it to an incredible degree. We all watched the Bolton game....it was painful but that's football... but you just need to dust yourself down and get on with it with a smile on your face -McMenemy

I know its a bit late now for this window but I really think the dutch trio of Kevin Strootman, Ricky Van Wolfswinkle and Eljero Elia could really have helped make a good push in the 2nd part of the season. A classy flair player down the middle, a good striker and a pacey winger/forward who can play either wing or down the middle. Just what we need. And no I'm not going by youtube and I don't even play fifa before you say anythin lol.
KevLFC

In the not too distant past Ricky Van Wolfswinkle played against us in the Europa league he was invisable, rarely getting a kick of the ball.

How many goals do you think he'll score?

I AGREE but instead of wolfswinkle id rather have georginio wijnaldum but thats just me.

ACHILLES.

I think you may find wolfswinkle was injured in the first 15 mins of the game against us mate

Yeah but mata an turan were invisable in are friendlys last summer but would you still go for them.

We should just go for Messi and Ronaldo. They both produce regularly.

24 Jan 2012 18:33:29
Wow let's all whinge for the sake of whinging, what ever happened to the mentality of being the best and winning? It's a club that's been around for a long time, as long as they are competing like they are they will always stand a chance of winning, if we were top of the league etc no one would whinge about Carroll poor form or Suarez's antics, because winners don't whinge! Get over it, clubs halted a fall from grace so lets do our bit people! Yeah let's buy another striker that'll give Carroll the confidence boost he needs won't it?! Kenny and the owners will get it right, he's been given 3 years for a reason, complain in 3 years if he has achieved nothing, united are so successful because of good management, time and a winning mentality, and as long as everyone harps on about buying titles and 'world class players' the less likely it is to happen, bit of effort perhaps lets be the loudest fans in the league and remind everyone of the famous anfield support!

Do your bit and you will never walk alone

24 Jan 2012 18:32:23
I'm sick to the back teeth of hearing how nothing is Carrolls fault it's all to do with the service, or lack of. Well let me tell you in several games this season I have seen Downing get into excellent positions on both flanks only to look up and see a static Andy Carroll alone in the box surrounded by defenders. Is it any wonder he decides not to put a ball in but to turn back and keep possession?
Don't get me wrong I agree that Downing hasn't performed yet this season but I don't doubt he has the ability because he's proved it over several seasons. Henderson has shown glimpses of what he's about and I think he will continue to improve. Adam isn't performing either but I never thought he was any more than a squad player anyway, and it has to be said he's an improvement on the squad midfielders we had before.
No, the big problem is our striker and we need to buy another. You all know I've never been a fan of Carroll but it gives me no pleasure to say I told you so and I'd still love to be proved wrong because ultimately the only thing that matters is LFC and bringing some success back.

Chris in Tamworth

So Chris you're blaming Carroll for being alone in the box surrounded by defenders? What's he meant to do? Take them all on? What's his chances of success if he's on his own?

The Irish Rover

It seems that you uninyenyionally made a telling point "Carroll alone in the box surrounded by defenders" - this is a scenario that we have seen all too often. Wher is the support from midfield to pick up knockdowns - unless you expect him to score direct from all decent crosses.

Redpath

Hi chris i respect your opinion. but if Ian rush was going through this spell early in his career would you have asked for his head. please remember it took him three years to get going. so why not give carroll the decency and give hime time. cheers j.canada

I remember being asked nearly 12 months back if I thought I 'knew more about football than KK' because i didn't rate Carroll and the same when I said I didn't rate Downing and Adam. Was I right?

Ash

Carroll needs to learn how to play with Suarez. Downing chucking in crosses for Carroll to head in is far too obvious. If Suarez was lurking in the box with him it gives Carroll the opportunity to either go for goal if he is in a great position or flick it on to Suarez, or any other player who wants to put the effort into getting into the box as well.
If Carroll is alone in the box the defenders will find it easy to Mark him, if other players are in the box it will be chaos and they will struggle, especially someone so unpredictable like Suarez.
So I agree completely, it's not downing or carrolls fault, it's the whole midfield and front men. They all need to surge into the box when downing puts in a cross. Bar one player left behind to defend.

MIKEY

Admittedly there has been a lack of support in the box which is part of the problem but the right movement and the right timing from Carroll is all important. David Beckham was made to look much better than he actually was because of the runs made by V. Nistelrooy

Maybe Downing could at least hang one up for him, maybe he'd beat off of the defenders to the right cross. Did you see Valencia's goal for the scum against Arsenal? As soon as I saw that I said to myself why have I never seen a ball go in like that for Carroll? Gerrard is the only one who I've seen put in a decent cross for him. I'm still hoping he'll come good.

Well, I suppose you are right at this present time. Yet I would still take KKs opinion over yours, or Capello's for that reason or Redknapps who was willing to pay £27 million for Carroll. Please apply to Liverpool fc! Crystal ball not included.

The Irish Rover

Chris you said it,Carroll in the box on his own.
Maybe if a midfield runner joined him it might occupy one of those defender's that surround him. If you think Downing's not been part of the problem think again. He should be whipping balls Iin left right and centre, and before you say he does or whatever, how come he ain't got one single assist all season.
Even when Carroll hasn't played why has no one else got onto any of his crosses if they were of such quality.
And a striker in Carroll's mould do need quality balls played into the box,Barton did the job superbly at Newcastle.
And think its a bit arrogant of you to say I told you so already, considering how many years he's got left on his con tact.
To more or less say Downing, our only out and out winger is not at fault for Carroll not performing,or coring is bullis**t my friend. Downing's lack of goals and even more importantly assists is a major reason why the Big Fella hasn't performed as he did at the Toon, coupled with fan's on his case and lack of support from his own fans to boot ain't a great recipe for success.
A winger who create chances with quality crosses would go a long way to get a target man scoring.
Jonson

Rush had pace and was a workaholic and the perfect mindset to eventually succeeed.
Any one can take time settling in or struggle to score goals especially when arriving at a new club. Carroll lacks pace and does not work hard enough to close down defenders this is my main critisism of him and not his lack of goals. Any one worth their salt getting the amount of stick Andy is getting would have badly wounded pride and be chomping at the bit to prove everyone wrong by at least putting in maximum effort, most Liverpool supporters will forgive anything if your at least giving your all. Craig Bellamy is working his socks off in comparison.
kidmillions

Jonson I can't disagree with a lot of what you say especially about midfielders not supporting and also, as I said, I know Downing has been poor but this has only been part of the reason for Carroll looking poor. The much bigger reason for him failing so far is down to him and what he isn't doing.

Chris in Tamworth

This is the real issue Jonson. Carroll being used as a sacrificial lamb. Sometimes not a player within 30 yards of him like the Citeh game in the Carling Cup. Of course it was tactical & it worked because we got a great result, but it isn't going to make Andy look good. Nolan fed of big Andys knock downs last year & scored plenty. Barton was taking free kicks & looking for Andys head with success. Too many times Liverpool players haven't been busting a gut to get up & support him. He's isolated & as Chris says, he standing in the box all alone with 4 defenders around him. Hardly his fault he's feeding of scraps. Your confidence is bound to be shot to pieces.

The Irish Rover

Forget how many goals carroll has/hasnt scored or how crap the service is the lad cant control the ball and im not just aving a moan up this is serious. The thing is the money paid has nothing to do with it, if wed payed 5mill id be dissapointed! For me i dont care if reina was the top scorer i just want players that show ability and i dont think hes showing it. Now im not talking receive the ball turn beat 3 men and put it through the keepers legs i just mean basic! when someone passes you the ball youre able to control it look up and play it. Im currently watching cardiff palace and even k miller looks better. Dont want to be too harsh on him but hes not for us lets sort it, get over it and move on!!

Guys sorry to disappoint you but there will be no signings this month. There will be high profile signings in the summer so just wait until then. There will be a mass clearout J.W Henry

If we carry on like this, we wont be able to attract those big signings because we will be without champions league AGAIN and then I think it's about time we should stop being called a 'big team' as we have simply not earned that title in the last 3 years...

I think the point he is making is he could be a little more physical, perhaps like lescott smashing people up with his elbow lol

Baseball is a game which can be turned on it's head by a single individual performance so the statistics and all the hoopla that goes with it can be a success in Baseball and FSG policy can be a success with the RED SOX. But football is bot baseball and it needs the whole team to come together and the manager to make a strategy that gets the best from all his players.
Last season Barcelona signed David Villa who according to FSG policy is a no buy because of hi policy but Pep Guardiola doesn't follow FSG policies but his footballing instincts ans we all see what fantastic signing he was.
I just pray that his policy is taken back to US and kept ther, this doesn't belong in LFC.
this is a tactical warfare which you will win if you are a good tactician(whch no doubt Kenny is) and you have good guys to carry out the tactics.
But we need some diversity in our lineup. This all British lineup is all bulls**t. Our best attacker is from Uruguay and best defender is Danish.

So please LFc go out and buy some foreign talent.

Good post...

And our best midfielder is ENGLISH

We have some off the best young footballers in the country coming throw the ranks I can only see good in the FSG policy

Baseball is a serious snorefest. Have you seen the amount of fat bastages that play it. Have you seen the amount of 40+ year olds that play it. Have you seen the amount of juicers that have been busted while playing the sport. It a sport for fans to go and sit in the sun for 3 and a half hours and shovel hot dogs in their pieholes at an alarming rate and wash it down with pathetic 3.2% volume watery domestic pisswater they pawn off as beer. Don't mention sabermetrics in regards to football. The only thing close to sabermetrics that FSG brought to football was to buy players young, with a potential sell on when they reach their prime. we have a strict wage structure with FSG at Liverpool. You won't see any 150K a week mercenaries coming in. Old school Bootroom LFC is in play again. It's not about buying just English, but you have to have a certain amount of homegrown players in your squad. We've had plenty of foreigners over the last 10 years that weren't exactly as talented as their YouTube videos showed. Stevie,Luis and AC have played exactly 91 minutes of football together for us. Please let the newer arrivals bed in and lets give them a chance. 2 big cup games and CL still to play for.

Few thoughts about our current situation as a team and as fans.
I watched the reserve game this afternoon, and the larger defenders brushed Sterling aside all game..Raheem is doing well to have broken into the reserves from the youth team at 17, any rash decisions to play him sooner than he is ready would ruin any potential he has of prospering into the world class attacker we all want him to be. Being frustrated with our lack of fire power, combined with our potential in the reserves does make it tempting to direct our frustration at the management team for not fielding, Sterling, Silva and Coady. Considering we lost to a big physical team in the reserves, any "blooding" of youngsters soon would seemingly be a massive and unrealistic risk. Our first team struggles with these types of teams, and as proven today our youngsters wouldn't make much difference as it stands. Not only would they struggle physically but they would struggle mentally as the pressure of playing for LFC is enormous. Which brings me to me to the next 'hot topic,' Andy Carroll. Its clear for everybody to see his current form is not worth 35 million, but he didn't ask for that money or to be sold. Imagine the pressure of moving to a massive club on TOP of the pressure of being their record signing, on a young, talented (and troubled at times) mind? With everyone (including so called fans) waiting for you to slip up, just so they can say 'i told you so.' Carroll is no doubt very gifted, but its just getting the right balance of physical and mental attributes that make a great player. So instead of pointing and jeering, support Andy, he is most certainly playing with more enthusiasm then a previous number 9 was when we last saw him in a red shirt. In our last match he was arguably one of the better players on the pitch. Anyone remember the get 'Lucas out' saga? What a lot of you are yet to realise that bad mouthing players, moaning about transfer policy, complaining about new blood not yet introduced, is not the liverpool way at the management level, or the team level, or even reserve level, so why is it, some deem it acceptable at a fan level? Every time I wear my shirt, or post on a forum, I realise I too represent the club at a base level, and it embarrass' me to witness such a lack of support and a lack of unity in our fan base. The liverpool way has returned, ownership, management, team spirit, it needs to reach the fans. Wear your shirt, post on LFC forums but represent our club in the way our history demands it, at every level from management to fan base.
D.Liver

Superb post !
The Real KB

Van Persie started in the PL at the same age as Carroll. He scored 10 goals in 50 games in his first 2 seasons. Lucky for Arsenal that they had a bit more patience than a lot of the supposed LFC supporters who post here.

Unfortunately, these days we have a breed of fan who wouldn't be educated on the Liverpool way. They won't remember the glory days when we won with style & lost with grace. Today the " fans" expect instant success with mass amounts of money made available for high transfer fees & wages for exotic players from their wishlist. Of course it's completely irrelevant if the club can afford such players. We are also in an era where the manager must consult his crystal ball to make sure the new players are going to be an instant success because heaven help him if they are not. The manager will leave himself open to ridicule & abuse from our "fans" that they should have player x,y & z even tho a bit of common sense would tell you that such players didn't want to come to our club when other riches were on offer else where. Oh yes, our " fans" have come on leaps & bounds over the years. In fact, they now remind me of any other fan of any other club! Nothing really special at all to be honest. Great, isn't it?

The Irish Rover

One of our best and most memorable players, Ray Kennedy was signed in 1974 and spent a lot of his first season in and out of the reserves as he was educated in 'The Liverpool Way' as did a lot of our players back then. Kennedy was already a big star at Arsenal but Paisley played him in the reserves. That was how it was back then, no 'Big Fix' no player guaranteed to be given a first team place... they all had to earn the right to wear the Red of Liverpool.
Without wishing to create conflict on this great site, I just wish that some of the 'chequebook posters' would realise that it doesn't guarantee success and building from basics has to be the way to go. It happened at Blackburn (where are they now) its happening at Chelski (before our very eyes) and it will happen at City too when Mansour gets fed up of spending (or is prevented from doing so by FP rules)

Have patience guys, we are building for the future and if KK is not the man to take us all the way on that journey (and I hope he is) then rest assured that we will find the right guy to take us there.

Mikeinusa

Very valid statistic about Van Persie I was completely unaware of. They are the depressing facts Irish Rover. My post was motivated by an email I heard being read out on SSN. Im paraphrasing but the presenter read out an email from an LFC fan (cough, splutter) and it basically said "LFC need to buy Van persie or Hazard, or other similar high profile strikers to improve." Now, it was clear as day the two presenters thought this amusing. My toes curled.
D.Liver

Few Liverpool fans are so stupid that they do not realize that young players like Kelly and Coates will need time to learn the game and flourish.

The problem is that when you spend 35 million on a player, the expectations are completely different. The burden of that price tag may well scupper Carroll's Liverpool career.

The other problem for us is that when Wenger brought in Van Persie, Arsenal were the top team in the country. They had the luxury of time.

We, on the other hand, are lurching from one coaching regime to another, desperately seeking the right "formula". That, coupled with the need to get back into the CL ASAP (I am growing to despise that competition) means we do not have the same luxury of time.

Well said. hope the fans start supporting the team tomorrow, instead of moaning

Hasnt Carrol scored more goals than Torres?

Chelsea fans don't know anything about football lad...they probably think Torres looks good in blue and are happy :-)

Lukaku, Cahill and Mata. Give me Enrique, Suarez and Coates any day of the week.

every player we have at liverpool is a top player....they just need a couple of superstars to bring the best out in them....this cant be done untill we get top four, in the summer. so for now we should save our money, and work our a**es off to get 4th, rather than tryin to implement new players half way through the season which will probably only demotivate certain other players.

24 Jan 2012 17:29:35
Carroll - 35m
Henderson - 16m
Downing - 18m
Suarez - 22m
Enrique - 10m
Adam - 6m
Bellamy free
Coates - 7m

What we could have bought:
Llorente - 24m
Elia 12m
Bastos -16m
Suarez
Bellamy
Enrique
Sissoko - 10m
Coates

Reina
Kelly Skrtel Agger Enrique
Sissoko
Elia Gerrard Bastos
Suarez Llorente

Subs: Johnson, Carragher, Lucas, Maxi, Bellamy, Kuyt

Now to me, that looks like a side that could easily compete with the best in the league, and would work out cheaper than what we have at the moment. All those players we were linked with and could of signed if we had focused our attention on them rather than all the garbage we have signed. Its a shame and now we may never recover from our signings as another champions league'less year will not attract any stars come July.

E.H LFC

I agree it does look like a good team but you have to consider how many if them would have been realistic signings taking into account that we had no European football to offer them. We got players that wanted to actually be at the club for the right reasons rather than just the cash

Crappest post of the year.
Like I said yesterday to really enjoy this site you need to avoid every post that contains the number 35.
I am now gobsmacked at the complete lack of intelligence of the poster.
I only have myself to blame for breaking my own rules lol

Im really getting fed up with fans saying " there not realistic players " who would'nt want to play with gerrard, suarez and co ..... we are liverpool! granted we may not be a massive team in the europeon stage but we we always be a massive club!

If any striker come to Liverpool then let Carroll go on loan. as Suarez will back soon . Carroll sit on bench will not help Liverpool and Carroll too. how many of us agree on it ?

R-R

I agree, but as pointed out here before by the ed's and possibly a few others, he would have to go to a team similar to ours to get used to the way we play, it wouldnt help goin to a team that dont play similar because its the way of play he's not used to.

I believe that as soon as we as fans and supporters, accept that Torres, Rafa, Meireless (spelling), etc have gone, left the club, no longer at LFC. Then the sooner we will be able to embrace the changes that have happened, and look to the future.
It is far easier to linger in the past (and what was known), than to to embrace and indeed welcome the future (unknown).
Its a new chapter in LFC history, let's all try to enjoy it, and not get left behind, support the club, manager and players.
There is only one man to lead our club through this period of of transistion, and his name is Kenny Dalglish (our KK), everyday I am thankful that he is our manager and not some mercenary.
In KK I trust.
Shankly's Red Army.

Id rather have rafa torres alonso mascherano meirelis than kenny adam henderson carroll downing

See that's the point. Again, longing for the past... Its gone, those players have left, time to move on now!.

Hasn't carroll scored more goals than torres this season or am I wrong? {Ed016's Note - My nan has scored more goals than torres this season}

See a few posts querying our Academy to be honest it worries me too

- seems like a lot of the quality is being bought in from other clubs normally £500k-£1m with fees going up to £5m depending on experience

- none of the houiller or rafa academy signings ever came good

- the academy seems more interested in winning competitions rather than developing the players by loan them out to championship sides for a taste of 1st team football

- we never seem to hear of any academy player being sold for a profit normally just let go for next to nothing

- whenever we have a promising player eg Kelly / Robinson we always seem to buy another senior player to play ahead of them (do not think flanagan will ever make it at lfc)

- the careers of our hottest propsects seem to go nowhere (Pacheco/amoo/Ayala etc. Now talk of suso/Morgan/silva not looking ready to play 1st team even for 20 mins. If you are not ready at 18-19 then chances are you will never make it

- is our academy just a false hope we keep clinging too ?

Leam Red

Glen Johnson cost 18m and Kelly next to nothing so we are prob already up just from that. A player like gerrard or carra would have cost the club a fortune as well. Nearly all players that come through any academy never make it. That includes the likes of barcelonas and Ajax.
We have lots of really good prospects at our academy, but like the ed says they are not ready for the first team or a loan. Once they are ready they will go on loan like shelvey did or make it in the first team like Kelly.
There is an argument that the likes of owen started young, but he also ended young and was injured a lot of the time, no doubt because he was thrown in before he got his "man strength"
I personally think our youngsters should not be playing in the first team until at least 21, unless they are an exceptional talent with hulk strength and build. Or to cover short term for injurys.
A few from the academy will make it I am sure but we are prob still a good 3-5 years away before they make a real difference.

MIKEY

Mikey

Agree with you on the 17 yr old (Owen/Torres) playing 1st constantly at that age leads to injury laden careers and burnout
That why I do not mention sterling

I am referring to the 18-19+ yr olds they need 1st team exposure either at lfc or elsewhere.

Kelly will 22 and Spearing 24 yet how long do you keep them on the bench or say sorry you need to find another club that will give you regular 1st team football (spearing got his break with the Lucas injury but with his suspension and injury has not capitalised)

Also believe henderson is being over exposed and shelvey under utilised

Ps that Michael ngoo is a beast !! With our trouble Witt strikers bans / poor form and confidence / injuries he deserves 10 mins at least

Kelly is on the bench coz of johnson's stupid contract. Hope psg or real come in for him in the summer.

Am I right in thinking that in the future there will be a requirement for more home grown players to be in a squad. Could it be that Liverpool have gone in and bought a Carroll, Hendo and Downing early before there is a rush on to hit their allocation. With Kelly, Flanno and Shelvey as youngsters it seems a possibility...

We can start looking at other prospects from abroad who are usually cheaper?

Could this be a part of plan by Comolli and Dalglish and Liverpool?

{Ed002's Note - A plan, no.}

How about we try a crazy idea to maybe, i dont know, buy players for their quality instead of just for their nationality? Instead of focusing on 'home grown' players why dont we buy some players with abit of flair, trickery and the ability to beat their man confidently (at a good level not bottom of the prem). I know you may think im crazy but it seems to have worked for errrm, every other top team in the world, so you never know...

RDR

Do you think the liverpool mgt are all that?

I'm the original poster - I'm not saying that I'd agree with the plan, if that was the plan, which ED002 clearly thinks it was not... I'm just wondering why we've made a point of signing English players with the intention of playing them in first 11, paying a lot more in value than foreign players in the same position.

Any ideas? Mind you, the stats for Downing and Carroll before they came were probably very good and on paper are a no brainer.
{Ed002's Note - It is simply the choice of the management team - who also signed Suarez, Adam, Enrique and Coates - none of which are English or qualify as home grown.}

It has become rather easy to blame AC for our faltering performances of late, and the lack of goals scored (25 only). But let's step back and view this from a distance.
The whole team is ultimately to blame really, its a team game, so shared responsibility.
I don't believe AC has ever received the support (on the field) that he requires, so blame there to the midfield and wing. Our midfield are not really linking well with defence, so there's blame to be directed there as well.
On the field it is the captains job to motivate and lead the team, has SG done that well.
To make AC our albatross (Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner), is both unfair, and indeed incorrect.

Think of how Torres is performing at Chelsea, are we thus to assume he is a bad player, or just not being properly supported.

I believe that the wrong support and midfield players were bought, and this has negated the effectivness of AC, or maybe the team prior to that were already very short in this department.

Its good to look at situations and scenarios, without being clouded by the emotions of anger and contempt.
Food for thought.

SG is only coming back from injury.

According to Kenny and its been reported on in the media recently SG takes care of problems in the dressing room discretely, quitely and without fuss or recrimination making Kenny's job easier. That is the job of the catain harmony in the team just because Gerrard doesn't dish out a Boll**king on the pitch every five minutes does not mean his aint doing his job as captain.

Carra has been slated here numerous times for barking at players (use the search function), you can't have it both ways!

24 Jan 2012 16:08:21
If,now i say IF Mourinho would leave Real Madrid this summer, why dosnt LFC try to get him as a manager with Kenny by his side. This would be a great manager for the club and I think the owner would give him more money to spend because he isnt known for buying the wrong players. I also think more player would like to join the club if he were the manager, he dosnt have a bad reputation.

Mourinho wouldnt come to liverpool, the club is in shambles. were going backwards rather than forwards, plus he wouldnt want to work with players like adam, carroll, maxi, kuyt, henderson, carragher, coates, bellamy etc, he would want top players, i think he'll take over at united when fergie retires

And can you list the "top players" that the Mancs have?

What.....because the utd 1st team is so good? Rooney and Nani aside, there aren't many players left that you could label top class.
It's the fergie effect that is keeping them near the top. Once he retires they will be a top 6 team at best.
No money to invest in players due to massive debt.
Less money coming in due to lack of success.
And so the downward spiral starts.

Oh yea forget, they are full of superstars aren't they!
Gaz b

Rooney, hernandez, vidic, jones, smalling, young, nani, cleverly, giggs ? evra, rafael, fabio

Rafael, young, Hernandez & Fabio.........lol. pint what ever you've had ??

Matty b

I'd want Pep but I think Utd. will be after him...or hopefully Utd will hand it over to someone like Giggs, who will do a Souness and sell all the experienced older players, bring in too many youngsters in one go and not win the league for the next 20 or so years!!!

Would hate to see Mourinho at Anfield. He has come to be despised at Real. Now why do you think that is?

Pep guardiola wud be a perfect fit for our club. Promotes the academy, doesnt buy luxury players every now n then.... Mourinho wud always be 2nd choice behind pep.

He's going to get alot of stick at away games, he's a hot head and he wont handle it, he'll be off to madrid in the summer if not in this window

He handled it fine in the 4 or so games before the ban.

I think he will have had a good chat behind the scenes about his conduct and how it reflects on the club, I expect him to come back and keep his head down and put in some great performances, I think he owes us.

Everybody is saying play the young players but if they lose everybody is going to be ballistic at king kenny saying why did you play them

Thank you

G3Rr4r1)

The young players in my opinion are simply just not good enough. for how good they all seemed 6 months ago i have been watching them a lot recently. suso is now non existant since his strop. pachecho we will not see again. sterling is no where near ready and does not have the stature required. as for morgan, he is simply not good enough. the recent games against Man Utd have proved this. our kids are not good enough.

Suso is still existant, just suspended

KingHeskey

What Suso strop are you speaking of? Suso is a really special talent, with an absolute wand of a left foot.

Pacheco was given chances, he failed to convince 3 managerial regimes he deserved a place in the 1st team squad.

Sterling is not ready, but he will be sooner than you think. He has the potential to be something really special.

Adam Morgan is going through a rough patch, last season he was in really good form and every one whispered "the next fowler" He's lacking confidence, but once he gets a goal, i'm sure he will kick on for the rest of the season.

The likes of Flanagan, Robinson and Coady are ready for 1st team action.

Just watching the Liverpool reserves and can see what the Eds are saying about the youth not being ready to make the step up,some of these players seem to have hit the wall in their development and the early promise that some of them were showing has slowed down,I think if any of these players were promoted to the first team now it would only damage their development they need time and patience, and hopefully in time some may make the break through.

Although I agree I do also think there are times that you need to put in to harder, more difficult situations, to raise your game!

We don't currently have any specific DM's (Lucas and Spearing both injured).

We have seen that Adam and Henderson don't work well together.
We have also seen that Adam and Gerrard don't work well together.
They all seem to want to get forward or at least not track back, so they need the protection of a DM behind them.
In the case of Adam he does track back now and again to give away fouls in dangerous positions and get silly bookings.

When we played City in the 1st leg we were the better team until Spearing went off.

Each substitution we made and tactical shift put us deeper and deeper with no outlet whatsoever.

We need to hit them with pace and always have an outlet.

I would have Bellamy through the middle with Kuyt. Downing left wing. Gerrard in the middle with Henderson and Johnson on the right.
The defence takes care of itself. Enrique, Agger, Skrtel and Kelly. Reina in goal.

Just play gerrard n hendo in centre. gerrard can burst forward while hendo protects the back 4. let adam play in the reserves.

Hello to all . hope you lot are doing ok.

Simple question .

Do we think the owners are ?

A ) Coming to watch the semi

B) Here to unveil possible transfer/transfers

C) Both

Just something to ponder, any thoughts.

NB : good source Aguerro to LFC

Oh come on it's been a while ;)

D - announce stadium plans

Give kenny the dreaded ''vote of confidence''

E. Talk to Kenny about the state of the first team and his rants which are getting more peculiar as time goes on.

All of the above hopefully.
The biggest issue is the stadium, that's the clubs next 100 years they are planning for. Players, managers come and go.

Hey Guys and Gals and Eds!
Basically, could i ask why people keep saying,'we've spent 100 million we should be in the top four or challenging etc etc? How far does 100 million get you? Lets face it Man Citeh have spent 5 times that, and are only now looking like wining the title! Coupled in with the fact that we made 30 mil each off Masch and Alonso, and 50 for Fernando! All top players who needed replacing within the squad! I for one am not surprised we are not where we would like to be,Dont get me wrong,it would be wicked to finish in the top four,But money doesn't buy success, unless you have a sugar daddy, which we dont!
We've had some successful buys, and some not, just like Citeh did, just like Chelski did, like United too!
All i ask is for some consistency! Truth is that 100 million kept us afloat! Adam and Henderson or Poulson and Cole? Suarez and Carroll or Torres and Ngog? This wont be enough to satisfy the Fifa brigade, but thought i'd put it out there!
WelshBoy Dave

We have vastly improved the overall quality of the squad for a net spend of around £30-40m.

We still need to add some quality in some positions, but I think the squad we have now overall is better than the one we had 12 months ago.

Tiote is going to be at least 25 mil. So is that 20 mil and Caroll? Why would Newcastle take Caroll back? They are currently pushing for a Euro spot and are on the same points as Arsenal. They are then in the summer going to sell one of the best players and get a another striker? Or is Demba Ba on the shopping list too? If Tiote leaves it will be to Man City...

finally things have calmed somewhat after the bolton debacle. all fans all over the world nowdays have become like this whenever their team loses they start moaning but as soon they start winning its good again. i bet if we win against city and united everybody will be like 'what a tactical genius he is... etc etc. if we lose they will continue calling for his head.
let me give an example of the indian cricket team. around 4 years ago lot of youngsters were brought into the team. the planning was for the future like now in liverpool. they didnt start of well but they were given time and it culminated by them winning the world cup. now we are being thrashed by the aussies (not to forget the thrashing at england) the fans have turned against them in an instant. fans have become fickle all over the world. nowdays everybody has an expert opinion on this and that but no logical reasoning.
Come on guys lets get behind liverpool we all want them to win. come tommorow give city hell at anfield.
and please give dalglish and co time.

I think we should play Carra/ coates tom and play agger instead of Carrol and definately he'll score , we all know DAGGER's talent he can run ,beat a man, shoot a thunderbolt n has a sense 10 times better than Carroll. And hoping King doesn't plays the ogre (adam) tom he is crap without lucas and no 1 will be willing to catch up his hollywood passes.
Long live the King.....YNWA
REDistani.

What about Agger in Adams place, beside Hendo. Play Coates in aggers place?

Throwing it out there why don't we play players in there natural positions and see what happens?

King luis

His name is adam ! arrrrrgggghhh

I think the issue here is a lack of an apostrophe as in "Adam's" instead of "Adams".

Have you noticed that the people who call him "Adams" usually make really idiotic suggestions? There is a direct correlation here certainly.

As for King Luis' suggestion - "why don't we play players in their natural positions" - pah, it is downright crazy. He must be a lunatic.

Agger is one of the best central defenders in the league, so naturally we should move him into midfield - or upfront - he hit a shot that hit the bar on Saturday you know. Don't you watch MOTD?

Big Andy can cover for him, as he is very big and can jump up high in the air - as a youngster he was touted as the new Kygriakos, he has a ponytail you see. He is tall.

Glen Johnson should partner Agger upfront - as he has all the attributes identified by REDistani to be a striker. He can run, beat a man and shoot a thunderbolt. (his 'sense' isn't ten times better than Carroll - but then, I don't really know how to quantify that)

Capello must be toying with the idea for England at the European Championships too, he's not stupid after all.

Surely King Luis couldn't disagree with any of that.

Back to Adam....

The apostrophe issue is not always an excuse, but on this occassion you may be correct.

However - the statement about Agger makes me think maybe not. This hypothesis is largely based on the aforementioned direct correlation between stupid statements and the mis-spelling of the name Adam.

I'm forever reading. "Charlie Adams is rubbish", "he signed Adams", "Adams can't tackle".

It does my nut in too. Aaaaaaaaarrrrgggh.

BJH YNWA.

ps - Thank God these people aren't managing the club.... To think they likely go around slagging Dalglish and Hodgson for erratic team selections....

pps - Yes btw. That was sarcasm earlier.

@Morgan-So called fan's like you are a waste of space you tool.
Your all for giving player's a chance are you. Well obviously not Carroll.
When we bought him I was over the moon along with quite k few other Liverpool fans. He was right up their near the top of the Prem goal charts. He was injured when we did buy him Ty boot and this 35 mil what he cost, get it into your tiny mind he did not ask to be sold for that price you div.
Yes it was to much money, but thanks to one toss pot who left us in the lurch at the last min we ended up paying over the odds for him. Like I said, not his fault.
And please those who blame him for every poor result we have, give your head one almighty f***in wobble, because he was different class for Newcastle. He dominated most centre halves including our very own Carra and Skertl to such extent he more or less won that game at St James Park on his jacks, promtin Sk

Saurez

Tevez Cavani

how does that Elvis song go " If i could dream" we could get tevez £25m hazard £30 cavani £30/£35m not bad considering what chelsea got for £50m}

How about a front three of Lavezzi, Suarez & Cavani. probably get them for combined £60m.

Reina
Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique
Gerrard Lucas Henderson
Suarez Cavani Lavezzi.

that team would challenge for honors and get lots of goals, Downing, Adam, Bellamy, Carroll, Kelly, Carra & Doni as back ups..

Why are you muppets still going on about Tevez he is the footballing equivalent to a spoilt 6 years old...Plus Cavani is £50 million Lavezzi is £30 million it is not going to happen unless someone sponsors LFC for £600+ million

This is what the fc Groningen ceo had to say on the official website

Transfer Window
"It is an exciting week anyway. Like most people probably know, clubs have until January 31 the opportunity to strengthen the selection. Then close the intermediate transfer window. Such a transfer window always provides noise and rumors. Our players are mentioned numerous times in articles in newspapers, but especially on the Internet. Especially in football and fan sites are speculating about possible transfers and each message as a whole or half truth seen. "

Hi (EDO2)
Its very obvious (to me at least) there will be no transfer activity for L.F.C. this window. With KK expressing his disappointment with the teams performance against Bolton, and hinting players would be dropped for the Semi final tomorrow and could be shown the door if they don't improve. Do you think he may decide to give the likes of Coady and Sterling a chance? if we're not buying and KK is fed up with some of the first team, surely he must change things around.

we've played 21 games in PL and several games in cup competitions. If the likes of Henderson and Downing have not cut it yet, what's the chances for the rest of the season, (when the going gets really tough) that they will give the team the quality and performance levels needed to see us through.

Andy Carrol has been awful, but has not played as many games as Henderson or Downing so imo he still has some time time to redeem himself.

Glen Johnson is not great but he has at least had some decent performances this season, though I would like to see Martin Kelly as our right back

Charlie Adam is OK but he's limited with what he can offer and he's slow

Dirk Kuyt is a Trier but just not good enough

Just two more games to go until Louis ban is complete and how we need him. As long as we have Stevie G Mr Suarez and Craig Bellamy playing together regularly, then we have some chance on achieving something this season. However i feel KK must introduce some fresh faces either by delving into the transfer market or by using the young lads.

Chester RED {Ed002's Note - As I have said before, Coady perhaps will get a chance as and when, but Sterling is only just 17 and I struggle to see Dalglish throwing him into such an important game.}

Just mix dirk kuyts passion an fight with carroll's attributes an he'll be a good player then. lol

Liverpool are in talks to bring FC Groningen striker David Texeira to Anfield, according to Metro.

With Luis Suarez in the midst of an eight game suspension, three games of which he is still to serve, and the rest of Liverpool's strike-force failing to find the net with regularity, manager Kenny Dalglish is looking for a proven finisher, and believes that Texeira could be the answer. The Uruguayan has scored eight goals in thirteen games for FC Groningen this season, and at the young age of 20 is already showing great potential.

Liverpool hope that the presence of Texeira's Uruguayan countryman, Luis Suarez, at the club could tempt the striker into making the move. Suarez also spent time at Groningen during his early career. Current reports suggest that a fee of around £10 million could be required to secure Texeira's services, although since he only joined FC Groningen at the start of the season, the Dutch club may prove reluctant to sell.

Liverpool are closing on the signing of Real Madrid's Spanish midfielder Esteban Granero, according to The Mail.

Kenny Dalglish has been looking into the possibility of bringing the Spaniard in on a loan deal until the end of the season. Granero has struggled for playing time in the Real Madrid midfield this season, starting just nine games in all competitions, and finding his chances limited by the form of Xabi Alonso. He would be a versatile acquisition for the Merseyside club, with his ability to play either on the wing or in a more attacking central position.

Dalglish hopes that Granero could be tempted to relocate to England by the prospect of more regular first team football, and also hopes that the move might bring out the best in misfiring frontman Andy Carroll. The loan move would also be favoured by the club, who are reluctant to sanction as much lavish spending considering the amount that Dalglish has already invested in the team.

It will be interesting to see how they react to a six month absence , if proven guilty of course .

Well we all saw where spurs were before he took over, a reverse in fortunes would be nice. Wishful thinking maybe.

What does everyone think the new warrior shirt will look like?
Been on the warrior sports website to look at the jerseys they currently make and they are quite understated for american sports teams.
I would expect ours to be an understated, classic yet modern design. Maybe the only detail being a thin White stripe on the shoulders or arms.
Somebody said our crest might be redesigned, I am all for that it does look cluttered, I would go for just the liver bird and the torches.
Warrior are clearly trying to get into football and would not put off every other team by giving us some vulgar American style dross. I would expect a lot of effort will be going into there first football shirt.
Hope I am right anyway.

MIKEY {Ed002's Note - There are some mock ups out there Mikey if you Google it.}

I saw a couple ed002. Are there any official ones either from warrior or the club yet that you might know of? Mist of the ones I have seen are just the addidas ones with the stripes removed and warrior pasted over the addidas badge.

MIKEY

Mikey, i this the most possible mock up is the one with the classic Liver Bird badge in gold. I like the Liverpool badge now as it is, but if they use they Liver Bird, it would be a bit different, theres a lot of debate on changin the badge, wheter it be for Warriors first season only or for continued use, im not sure what the opinion of most on that would be.

Carb

I have some info about the shirts that has been presented to LFC. At least the home kid will be a retro kit with the liverbird on the chest. That is what has been presented, I dont know what will be the end result though.

heres a novel thought, why dont people only post rumours they have with some sort of evidence behind them, for instance their local or national ( non uk would be handy ) news paper are reporting, maybe some more reliable TV around the world. What if you have a genuine contact at the club or with the player, maybe a genuine sighting of the player, then we will be able to correlate the same information see a trend and there will be a far greater chance that it will have some truth.
While were at it if you think you have a genuine question why not try to search first anyway, if theres nothing there I'm sure the Ed's will be happy to try and help.
On the other hand we could continue to just randomly make things up, ask why Johnsons not played on the wing, which Teixia we are looking at and will we be signing Cavani.

Ok we have no money to spend this window, KG has stated he will NOT be buying anyone this window and only loan deals will be potentially done. Does that mean we're not signing a striker? YES it blummin well does. END OF ALL POSTS

He never said we wouldn't be buying anyone he said we'd be expecting a quiet window and he's happy with the players he has. I'm happy with the clothes in my wardrobe, it doesn't mean I won't add to them.

24 Jan 2012 11:31:47
This isn't a rumour but I just want to know if anyone has similar thoughts, why can't Kelly play right back and Johnson as a permanent winger? It is my understanding that Gareth bale was a left back before he became a winger, to me it would sort out the right wing problem, any thoughts guys?

Mate use the search function you will find loads on this.

Mate, because Glen can't cross a ball. His final product is woeful. He'd be a little useless as a winger without the ability to cross a ball properly.

regarding Glen Johnson, dont wanna see him go,why not play him wide on the right with Kelly behind him, people go on about wide men(or lack of) he would fit the bill perfect, loves bombing on,with kelly behind him, would not need to get back quite so fast/urgently !!

Use him as an out and out winger !!

Eds,
Not strictly a Liverpool question, More a general football business question.
All the talk of a player like Honda or Cavani "signing as the club will make the money back in shirt sales" is absolute nonsense obviously, But do shirt sponsors/manufacturers (ie: standard chartered/warrior) ever chip in a lump sum of money to sign a player, if they think that said player may make a bundle in shirt sales or might be a player to take the team to the next level, as thus making the sponsorship more desirable?

Cheers
Johnnny {Ed002's Note - They do inasmuch as they provide sponsorship to the club. For example, Warrior are going to provide Liverpool with about £25M per year as sponsorship. They need to make that back in (a) shirt sales; and (b) increased profile leading to deals with other clubs. They are not going to give Liverpool anymore than that - and it is touch and go whether they can even cover their costs on this deal. However, in other parts of the world (Brazil is a prime example), clubs will approach sponsors to help pay the wages of players (Robinho, Neymar, Ganso are all good recent examples of this).}

Some interesting stat information:
League table 'Shots":

01. Tottenham 370
02. Chelsea 369
03. Man City 369
04. Liverpool 355
05. Arsenal 340
06. Man Utd 340
07. Fulham 304
08. Everton 282
09. QPR 279
10. Sunderland 275
11. Newcastle 264
12. Wigan 259
13. West Brom 257
14. Blackburn 254
15. Wolves 253
16. Bolton 249
17. Norwich 248
18. Aston Villa 227
19. Swansea 220
20. Stoke 194

So as you can see the current squad are capable, we are the 4th most attacking side in the league, a littel bit more luck infront of that goal and we are there. This stat clearly shows that we are getting the balls into the right areas, we are being creative enough.

Who was it that said the more I practice the luckier I get?

Gary Player

Is this overall shots, or shots on target.
25 goals in 22 games, that's the key indicator.
Its a bit like eating soup with a fork, you keep busy but stay hungry!.
We need a couple of spoons, no check that 'soup ladels', strikers and players who attack and convert, not shoot from miles out, hit crossbars and posts. Strikers who can strike and score.

Food for thought.

People like you are starting to H me off stats never won anay titles who cares about that list. All that matters is the table and that shows how crap our manager is.

That stat doesn't tell you where the shots were from. We rarely get close to the goal..

Martin Atkinson to referee the Liverpool vs United FA cup clash. At least we should get a fair deal from him, he is a good quality and fair ref with a decent temperament and certainly not one of Fergies poodles.

Fergie was banned last year for criticising Atkinson, so they are not best pals.

United have put in a formal complaint to the FA because they have not put Howard Webb in charge, as instructed by Fergie......but theres still time for Fergie to get his wishes.

Tel 1949

You really are a bitter jealous old man Tel...your obvious dislike of SAF is from his total domination of the EPl you are obviously sick having watched liverpool dominate on the mud ridden pitches years ago however that day is long gone and Fergie has got right under your skin knocking ye off that perch.

I love reading your seething hatred and jealousy of SAF just shows how he has got to ye lot.

Devil Dust.

Well Liverpool FC obviously "has got to ye lot" seeing as you are constantly posting on the site no?

I think LFC fans hate Fergie for some of the outrageous comments and things he has done just to damage LFC.

maka
YNWA JFT96

Tel its bitter fans like you who give us a bad name, just support the team, who cares who the ref is, if we are good enough we will win, simples

Tel the problem here is Fergie after a bad game will highlight the ref, the press pick up on it then next time he is put in charge of a UTD game it is reported before the match and the ref comes under pressure knowing he is going to get slated if fergie has another go at him after the match. It is easier to lean towards them and get praised by him after.
To a certain extent all managers do it, it's just Utd and Fergie carry a lot more sway with the press.
RNred

To the above no name well said...Also maka I dont constantly post on here but Tel is on the United page quite a lot so good for the goose...
I only posted cause I think his point is childish and ridiculous.

Devil Dust.

Fergie didn't knock us of our perch, Souness did.

Tom.

...actually moores did!

Peter

Devil..maybe not 'constantly' but you are getting there

Puzzled

So let me get this right...I post the fact that Martin Atkinson is the ref for the FA cup game, plus the fact that Fergie got a 5 game ban for having a go at him. I then offered some banter about Fergie not being happy....and I get vindictive and snide comments from some people....get a grip will you ?

Thats not 'bitter' thats 'banter' and its the whole point of this banter page isnt it surely ? No wonder the Eds get frustrated with some posters.

I dont like fergie because I think he uses dirty tactics to get an unfair advantage over everyone else, not just LFC. I do not like the man , end of.....BUT why on earth would I be classed as 'bitter' just because I personally dont like him ? I am certainly not bitter against him winning the prem one more time than us, why should I be? Overall we have won far better trophies anyway.

I also have absolutely nothing against the Man U supporters who over the past week have shown that they are true supporters by helping with the Hillsborough enquiry etc. They were brilliant so once again, many thanks to them.

I am a very strong and loyal LFC supporter and worship the ground that Kenny walks on, because I happen to like him as a person and as a professional. Kenny is a true gent, unlike the aforementioned manager, but its my choice not to like people if I dont want to.

Bitter ? your having a laugh...I look forward to Kenny recreating a great team, so why should I be bitter after all the pleasures Ive had from LFC over the years ??

Surely these players are of a similar stature to two of the prems best players in Silva at citeh and Modric the goblin.
Good enough= old enough?

Gerrard n shelvey totally destroyed oldham for me shelvey gets on that team sheet before henderson.

liverpool will sign no one because kenny thinks the team is fine. just get used to the fact that we are not getting any big names because we are not a european club anymore.

no big player will want to move to us as we cannot offer them as much as other teams. so stop sayin 'eds any chance in higuan or tevez or pato because they will never come.

Liverpool will probably get someone like hoilett and then Bent. NO BIG NAMES

So true, but me is convinced that Loserpool are a european team.

Hey Ed. I need to know (for fantasy football reasons) if Suarez is available for the Wolves game or the Man Utd league game? Hi eds,

I was just wandering if we do win the carling cup would we automatically get in the europa league ?
Red-raj {Ed002's Note - Yep, the Carling Cup and the FA Cup both provide a route to Europa.}

Surely there is a way of avoiding the Europa League - is it compulsory ? {Ed002's Note - It can indeed be avoided. The club could certainly exclude itself from European competition - I would think it would backfire rather, but still. So if I have this right: most of the players are not good enough and need to go; the manager has lost the plot completely and needs to move upstairs; the owners are not investing enough in the club and Kenny Huang is the saviour we wanted all along; and now we need to make sure we don't play in Europe.}

If we win both then can we consolidate those and claim a CL spot? Ah haha that's a nice thought tho to think of us edging closer to the euro cup...slowly but surely. Soon... azkop

{Ed002's Note - .... So if I have this right: most of the players are not good enough and need to go; the manager has lost the plot completely and needs to move upstairs; the owners are not investing enough in the club and Kenny Huang is the saviour we wanted all along; and now we need to make sure we don't play in Europe.}
===================
You forgot:
1- Anfield is small and need renovation
2- The FA is corrupt and need investigation
3- The media is against us and need something done about it
4- The weather is awful and need changing
5- Too many fake supporters on these pages that need banning and support another club

Which reminds me, why do you say 'we', the question is not about Chelsea!?

Why is it that the most exciting thing happening at the club at the moment is an injured Lucas returning???

Because whats there to celebrate look at the prem table.

And whos fault is that, lavish over spending on mediocure players all because they are british, that was a plan bound for the trash can, as is our hopes of doing anything within the next 5 yrs.

When did Suarez and Enrique become british ?

24 Jan 2012 08:43:34
Bastian Schweinsteiger
Keisuke Honda
Mesut Ozil
Kevin-Prince Boateng
Josip Ilicic
Shinji Kagawa
Nuri Sahin
Javier Pastore
Eden Hazard
Douglas Costa
Christian Eriksen
Philippe Coutinho
Alexander Merkel

Now this is alist of young talented worldwide players that we should be looking at, cos lately I am seeing and hearing nothing. KD summer recruits are not cutting it at the moment, I know the potential is there or was, but unfortunately there is no creativity.
We definately need a quality right sided wizzard so that downing can just concentrate on the left, think he would be more productive there ratehr than confusing himself jumping from side to side.
I think Adam would like to think he could be the next Xabi Alonso but lets face it he's not, but he is the best we have at the moment so him and gerrard in the middle, dont think the defence needs to be touched really, the two in the centre have come good and the two wide boys are good too, may be left back cover.

Javier Pastore value 50 million, Eriksen 40 million,Hazard 40 million,Schwiensteiger 30-40 million, who do you think we are man city. Some of the players have all ready moved or are going to move like Honda to Lazio lower your expectations we aint in the CL.Also Boateng should not be on the list

I agree- seems like KD and Co, have really set their expectations very low with the previous transfers - more on HOPE than anything else. HOw on earth were they HOPING that signing mediocre Brits with very little class and skill would make us compete against the very best teams in the EPL and Europe/?
To to this you have to sign players with very high skill levels and class. Players either proven to excell in the world game (ie, Suarez, Scwiensteiger, Podolski, Pastore etc etc ) or Younger but extremely talented and skillful players on the way up (Hazard, Sahin etc)..
With the money available after the Torres sale-over 100million - it would have been enough to get at least 3-4 of these players.
These are the type of players that win you Premierships, Champions League Cups, and more..
To spend 35 million on an unproven Carroll was just complete and utter stupidity - you dont do that! Why on earth the owners sanctioned that deal is beyond me .Im certain they have learnt their lesson very very well.
Also spending 16-20 m on Henderson was another mistake as was the 20m on Downing - they are mid table players at best (as has been well and truly proven) and they will NOT win you an EPL title - that is very very clear to see.

Expectations are so high because we are Liverpool FC, would should not be looking at bargain basment players what the hell has happened, we should be linked to likes of these players, world class players, world class football club. there is no future without a now.

Are you holidaying on Fantasy Island ?

Boateng, powerful, skilful, pacey, regular AC Milan (World Class Football Club) first 11, explain why he should not be on that list

I agree Boateng not good enough in the prem, obviously he's got good stats on FM?

Chris in Tamworth

Interesting list, some great players.
Not one British player though, so does that say that England no longer produce any quality players, simply answer is sadly yes!.
While other teams in other countries develop and mentor their own, English teams still want to buy the 'shiny finished product'.
How money has wrecked the English game. {Ed002's Note - By implication all of the great English players already play for Liverpool.}

I'm not convinced that al great English players play for Liverpool, the greatest yes, but not all. Would love tpo have seen the like of Jack (Wilshire), Tom (Huddlestone) and the many others out there, that were available back in the day when they were just prospects and are now quality players. Need to buy them young.

YESSS FINALLY!!

Since I'm not a resident in the UK, it has been a frustrating wait to have the chance to see the film "Will" starring all our favorite Reds and relishing in our glorious win in Istanbul (btw for all you Mancs and other haters plz check Champions League winners 2005 for more info hehe)

But now a popular online market (named after a river in the country of the next world cup hosts) has it available for pre-order for only 10 quid and it will ship out at the end of February, and so I felt it was my moral obligation to share this great news with my fellow mates who might be looking for this dvd. I cannot wait to see it and relish in our glorious past... and if it's not too much to ask for, hopefully it will be coupled with some encouraging performances on the pitch as well! I know this is a dull moment in our history but remember our past and be patient for our certain return to that level because we are Liverpool Football Club and we don't do mediocre. John Henry said it today- DON"T PANIC- we made some good signings this last summer and they will come thru and get us the results we need. After all, isn't it our style to pull thru at the 11th hour?! Looking forward to the stretch run of the EPL season, and ofcourse our two cup wins!!! YNWA azkop

In all honesty the Liverpool fans on this site are deluded. Why would queen Kenny spend anything this window when (yet again) your title challenge is derailed before the end of Jan. Even you seem more obsessed with supporting man city as they try and prevent us picking up yet another pl title.
Why not write this season off as another massive disappointment and regroup in the summer and try and cement a Europa league spot next year, you know it makes more sense.
Oh and if you think mourinho would even consider Liverpool then keep dreaming lol.

Btw not that you would know what it feels like, but we don't recruit managers that we've humiliated in the past...

If we use the europa to blood our youngsters then I think it's a great opportunity for us tbh.
Am I worried fergie isn't being given money, maybe, we shall see in the summer. However even with no money I am certain fergie will ensure we challenge, more than can be said for dalgleish backed with 100m.
I have said it before, I preferred Liverpool as our challengers rather than Chelsea and man city backed by their sugar daddy's, at least you have history, but unless there are some serious serious overhauls at your club then history is all you will have.

Why is everyone saying how does it feel to be in europa league and taking the mick out of man utd when we arent in europe, man utd are higher in the league than us. We can make fun of them when we thrash them in the FA cup.

Why does this man utd fan seem to think SAF has no money....does he not remember the amount spent on jones, young and de gea??

And if you actually work out the cost of man utds most expensive starting 11 and city's....it is almost the same

Finally someone talking sense.
The fa cup will be a massive fixture, as in all honesty for both of us it is the best chance of silverware this season. Realistically the winner of this tie has a great chance. Just a shame we are savaged by injuries.
RomanRunner

When did I say saf had no money, what I said was I don't think he will spend in Jan. In the summer then we may get a clearer indication of whether the yanks will back him with cash and how much. We had a lot of players come off the wage roll this summer so in the grand scheme we didn't spend big. We didn't need to. 1 quality cm this summer and sign the youth up and we are fixed. Sadly for you, despite a massive outlay, you are still closer to relegating than the title lol.

hi, eds. i see every player we sign are stated to be 'for the future' when there is no present i don't see a future. i know suarez will definitely leave if we don't achieve champions league. wants your say on this? should we buy player with more experience?

Can't see anything for you this season? Think City will win the League and cannot see them losing in the Europa Cup, but hey good luck to them, there supporters have suffered over the years and now they play the best football, have the best players, no oldies in their team. As for us at Liverpool we'll probably win both Cups and have to make do with that for this season.

Are these the players Dalglish warned won't be here long?

The midfielder has bags of ability, but has been criticised for playing too many 'Hollywood balls' and his passing accuracy was just 59.5% at Bolton. Adam also has a tendency to give away free-kicks with clumsy challenges that can give the opposition unnecessary chances.

Johnson is great going forward, but he's a defender first and foremost and the suspicion persists that he is more impressive in attack than defence. He was partly culpable for the poor defending at Bolton and with Martin Kelly breathing down his neck for club and country, Johnson can't afford to be complacent

Henderson is still young and has time on his side, but with Lucas out injured he has a golden opportunity to make his mark on the team now and he simply isn't looking like a player worth the fee Dalglish paid. Liverpool are crying out for some creativity in Luis Suarez's absence, but Henderson isn't contributing much

It's painful watching Carroll right now. His air shot in the second half summed up his lack of form and confidence. Dalglish maintained when he signed Carroll that he wasn't a short-term acquisition, but how long do you have to wait for a £35m striker to come good?

Stewart Downing.
No league goals. No assists. Say no more

Have an opinion yourself you muppet rather than cut and pasting articles off talk s**tes website!

Ash

Yeh but if the strikers we have could finish I'm sure downing would have quite a few assists

Kenny said last week Downing is better than he taught.

Jaysus he must have been having a nightmare when he signed him?

Some fans on this page really get my goat with attitudes. Look at the bigger picture, from the top to the bottom down great strides are being made. Commercially for a club of our stature we have been lacking, Ian Ayre has been doing a fantastic job in revolutionising our commercial aspects to bring them up to speed, with the standard chartered and warrior deals. How anyone can have the sheer audacity to complain about John Henry is quite frankly disgusting, the man who saved our club its knee's, the man who is continuously pushing for the best and most viable option regarding the stadium and he has shown he is not afraid to put his hand in his pocket on several occasions. IMO he is the best owner we can hope for, with the onus placed upon a sustainable model, with heavy emphasis on youth and sell on value. I want our club to be sustainable, what is the model of the best team in the world barca? that's right youth development and the odd sprinkling of star dust is the best way to develop a TEAM, not an organisation of mercenaries.

I couldn't care less if we didn't win another trophy for 10 years, as long as progress is being made and raw talent is being produced and nurtured with the fair play coming into fruition we are well set to be sustainable and solid. The word expect seems to be coming up alot, "I expect success". We shouldn't expect to see success, we should be thankful that we have such glorious history and revelled in success. I'm grateful I saw the 2001 treble, the 2005 final, 2006 fa cup and many a great CL game in-between, it is a pleasure to follow such a team, most fans could only dream of such an experience, think about what it would be like to be a wimbledon fan, be thankful that the backbones and the help of Shankley put us to where we belong now, we are not owed anything, i follow Liverpool because of my family roots a the community feel about the club, the warmness and 12th man unseen at any other club, I'm proud, honoured and grateful to follow such an illustrious team, the only thing that matters to me is the liverbird on the chest and seeing 110% bleeding red for the shirt.

We've seen such a high echelon of players over the past 20 years and beyond, its been a pleasure to watch owen, gerrard, fowler, alonso, torres, suarez, alonso play for this club (in my lifetime at least), it was an unbelievable time when we had the best central midfield in world football, alonso, gerrard and mascho. Granted we havnt replaced this calibre of player, but our history has made sure we will ALWAYS be up and around the top end of the league. We know the day when we return to our rightful perch is just around the corner, but in this day of instant everything, be it online, tweeting, fast food and instant football the patience of some fans derived from this instant success or demand culture derived from todays society is quite frankly ridiculous.

Give a f**k if Carroll is not how you would spend 35million, what's done is done, and nothing bares any significance compared to justice for the 96, this is what makes liverpool special, this is what sets us apart, not deluded ramblings about a lack of technical ability, this is not the liverpool way. To turn on Kenny after barely half a season and the task of getting rid of ridiculous wages (voronin 60k !?!) and rid of the remenants of one of the darkest periods in LFC history is absolutely ridiculous, give the team time to gel and pick itself up, we traditionally do kick on around this time.

Have faith my fellow reds, hopefully we will make a signing or two to give us a little boost, but dont turn on the ed's when they dismiss a random 'fifa' signing, they do a selfless job on here and we should be grateful to have such an outlet for our frustration and joys.Rest assured we will return to our pedestal, 1 part of the equation is done, we have the best fans in the world, and rest assured we will soon have the best team in the world, give it time ! peace out

Happy to see that all the anti KK comments have slowly eased up.
Could it be that some fans have actually reconsidered their opinions, or have they just found something else to focus on in the short term, another distraction.
Clearly their lives are in a state of negativity and frustration, and only know how to focus that outwards into the world, rather than having the coping mechanisms or indeed strength of character to deal with it on a personal level.
To all of you negative types, why not engage in some physical activity (running, swimming, gyming) and work off that negative vibe.

Get him out- He has bought poorly and has little tactical awareness! If it was anybody else, he would be out the door

liverpool should use raheem sterling..like arsenal did with chamberlain...give experience to youth..just look at gerrard and owen..while youth player given the experience..they will improve faster..

Good point but Chamberlain is a different physical beast than our youth. Physically he is ready to play EPL, our boys might need a bit more time to build up...Let's give it to them or we risk ruining them?
Iggypop

Don't judge a book by it's cover. If you assessed players on physical appearance as I'm sure some do? especially on here. Example: would anyone sign Modric on physical appearance. Saying one player is stronger than another just on appearance is not the way to judge. If you can play? You can play.

Alrite all!
Not anything to do with transfers this one but as of next season we will have a new kit made by a new supplier, Warrior, I think it would be a perfect time to change back our badge design.
I would love us to go back to a larger simple Liverbird with an eternal flame at the foot and with L.F.C underneath. I just think it would look more simple but powerful and classy. I think the current badge has got a bit cluttered with the shankly gates, scrolls, the est 1892 and for me the Liverbird has become to small. It was changed in the early 90's as part of the 100yr anniversary but I think its time to get back to a stronger design. A larger Liverbird with the eternal flame at the foot with L.F.C underneath in my opinion would be great and would look good aswell.
Also a nice simple classic kit design would be good aswell, nothin wacky please Warrior.
Come on reds!

Id love to see a retro kit a la Keegan 1975 (but without the huge vicars collar)

cozinoz

I'd love the strips to go back to the old 70's style. Plain and classic.
And Steven Gerrard to grow a **** off pair of lamb chop sideys to go with it !
The Real KB

I mlove to see Kevin Keegan in the red shirt surely he could not be any worse than some we have.

My response to your post below Mr unnamed poster is in CAPS:

LIVERPRES

*************************

Andy Carroll will be sold in the summer and this is why:

1- no confidence AND YOU'RE A BIG HELP
2- shocking first touch EASY FIX
3- poor control EASY FIX
4- no balance WTF?
5- constantly moaning (at his team mates!) REALLY?
6- that pony-tail GET A LIFE
7- marked with ease LIKE MOST FWDS WITH NO SERVICE
8- looks lazy BUT IS HE?
9- lacks passion/doesn't seem to care ABSOLUTE CRAP
10- lacks goals/little threat LACKS SERVICE
11- looks unfit, and has done all season BUT IS HE?
12- few signs of progress BUT SOME? THAT'S A POSITIVE
13- laughing stock with opposition fans UMM...WHO CARES
14- out of England reckoning UMM...WHO CARES AGAIN
15- Kenny seems baffled in how to improve him HAVE YOU SEEN THEM TRAIN THEN?
16- drinking rumours still dog him SURELY BY READING THIS SITE YOU KNOW MOST RUMOURS ARE UNTRUE

I don't like carroll as i do think he's lazy and not really good enough for us and never will be. but i do support kenny daglish and his coaching staff as i think were on the right track. kenny has made one bad buy in carroll. all managers make bad buys the key is get rid and we move on. i support liverpool football club and kenny dalglish for all he has done for our great club. i do not support individual players if i think there not good enough to play for us. and i respect other peoples opinions on players even if they differ from my own.

On points 2,3 and 4. And I'm not having a go at Kuyt here I actually like Kuyt for all his failings he has always given 110%
If we haven't been able to fix Kuyts first touch, poor control and balance and you think these things are an "Easy Fix" then possibly you have not played at any level yourself. You cannot and I repeat cannot coach these qualities. You have either got it or you havn't or you have other qualities like Kuyt. That's the major problem with Carroll he doesn't have any redeeming qualities.

any approaches made for shaqiri? According to gala; they've made a 13 mil pound bid and shaqiri is willing to leave Basel . Surely we should at least make a bid !

Do we really have 13m+ to spare and should we be spending it on a low-scoring midfielder when we transparently need an extra forward?

We are sleeping. as Shaqiri don't have British passport :)

Massive stab in the dark but get a funny feeling if results don't significantly improve soon and the situation at Real continues we are every chance to see Mourinho at Liverpool at some point next year. He has a well publicised admiration for the club, has stated he will return to England and at this point in his career Liverpool would be the perfect challenge for him...

Mourinho won't be coming to Liverpool. He always brings controversy, which is the last thing we need at the moment. He is not an FSG type of manager ie they like to keep issues behind closed doors. He also likes to spend a ton of money, and leave the club with an ageing squad with little sell on value (Inter Milan). There is more of a chance of Guardiola being an LFC manager, especially after the comments he said about our academy.

Rafa's Purple Goatie

What I think is most likely to happen IF morinho come back to EPL is that he will replace Mancini, with City looking for European success. He will not get the funding he needs to build a successful side at Liverpool and I think the same would apply at Man United these days as a replacement for Fergie. I have to say, I do love Jose Morinho, from a charisamatic point of view. He is one of those people in football, love him or hate him. But I don't want to see him any where near Liverpool, he's not a Liverpool manager and he would be a disaster for LFC. It will never happen in my opinion.
RedAce.

He has also said many times he wouldn't manage liverpool for reasons he doesn't want to discuss..
D.Liver

That was so wild you stabbed your brain

Guardiola would be great if and when we ever do part company with Kenny. Houllier wanted pep in as a player a few years back.....imagine if he had came !

I dont get all the Guardiola hype. My nan cud sit in their dug out and watch them win every game. The man doesnt have to do a thing!

hi eds if you dont mind me asking wer do yous get your info from on what transfers are going on?do yous just guess when someone might be coming to the club or is there someone from the club that gives you info on a genuine transfer thats coming through?sorry if that sounds cheeky and straight forward.love the site btw

Anfieldred1 {Ed001's Note - depends which ed you are asking. Mine are mainly outside of the club these days, regarding transfers anyway as that is kept very closely guarded. If I am guessing I will say, just as I will say if I don't have a clue. I have always thought it best to be straightforward about that, there are plenty of sites around that just make it up if they don't know. I always think it is best to say if we don't know and hope that one of the site's visitors might be able to fill in the gaps in our knowledge.}

There seems to be 'very little real value' in the Jan transfer market
Consequently, I only see LFC signing players in the 5-10m range (if that), to bolster their attacking options, this would be realistic.
I really don't care who is signed, just as long as they can provide attacking options and goals (which are desperately needed).
The club do not want to gain the reputation as 'panic buyers'.
Loans are also a distinct and feasible option.

24 Jan 2012 01:08:09
I really hope Liverpool don't squander the chance to sign Honda again! he is a class player, very versatile and would add a lot to the squad, and he seems available at the right price.
Australian Red.

I hate Australians! But your point is sound.
KiwiRed

22 million people in Australia - you have a lot of hate, kiwired. Probably insecure about being the small island next to Tasmania, huh?

cozinoz

U above are a true knob

RED4lifeNOTjust4XMAS

Haha, i was only kidding mate. In actual fact NZ and Aussie are great allies in pretty much everything but we're like there younger brother so were always trying to one up them mate. As for small island next to Tasmania, more like Aussie is NZ's west island haha.
KiwiRed

Hey mate, new zealand didn't lose a single game in the world cup, better than australia. also better than brazil, england, Argentina, germany and spain. and we dominated you in rugby (enjoyed watching that)
surely being a small island makes it even more embarrassing when we smash you in sport.
btw, just so i'm relevant, i think we're crying out for a right winger. even with everyone fit and ready (lucas, suarez etc) we've got a big hole on the right flank. i don't trust johnson there either

JSR-YNWA-JFT96

To the Antipode scousers: why don't you guys get rid of the queen and install King Kenny as head of state? What's Ruby by the way? Is the a game played by men with odd shaped balls?

Hi Eds.
A question this lad Jelavic from Rangers, would he require a work permit to play in England, or would the Scottish one be sufficient (sorry not from the UK, so don't know).
Thanks and regards.
Food for thought. {Ed001's Note - he would have to re-apply due to the change in circumstances, but he has a UK work permit, not Scottish or English.}

The Shakhtar Donetsk player Willian said this in an interview in 2011...

"It is flattering to hear teams such as Chelsea and Liverpool could be watching me.

"Every time I get the chance I watch Liverpool. They are a very important club and a lot of players would jump at the chance to play for them.

"I have watched players such as Luis Suarez and I have a lot of respect for them.

"Despite all their problems they have a great chance to get back to the top of English football again. I remember watching their midfielder Lucas doing an interview for Sport TV in Brazil and he was showing a camera crew around.

"He spoke so highly about Anfield and we saw that the facilities behind the scenes are fantastic."

He's been a good player, would jump at a chance to come to Liverpool.

Geoff

I hope kk knows this an signs a him a quality creative player way better than what we have.

Chelsea Bid £16.7m and they don't go too far as Willian can't Play CL for Chelsea This year. We can take the advantage Hope our Management think that way too.

R-R {Ed002's Note - The price for Willian is 30M euros.}

24 Jan 2012 00:30:25
i was wondering , i have read your posts on darren bent , but at this moment i would rather have him as our striker than andy carrol , but for me if darren bent wont come , a right winger would be ideal for us more than a striker because when suarez comes back he will be number 1 choice , unless kenny gets another striker to play alonside suarez , it would have to be someone on his wave lenght though

Hi eds,

Looks like a quiet window on all fronts. Just thought I'd ask about Pienaar. I was never a big fan, but he is fast and can cross and play the right side. Harry is saying no to 3 million, wants 6 million. The way we have thrown money around in the past year, this looks like a steal. Am I missing something? I don't think he is a long term answer, but could add new dimension now, and would be great squad player next year. Is he injured or something?

Cheers,

Coop {Ed002's Note - Just not first choice.}

Appreciate it Ed. He is not in my top 5, but if we don't sign anyone in the window, surely you will agree that Pienaar would have been worth 6 million? He would add something different and he has some attacking ability. Few players these days are that cheap, though I don't know of his wage demands. Don't think they would be high considering his last two teams.

Thanks for reply.

Coop {Ed001's Note - they are fairly high, but the lad is a Liverpool fan, so maybe he would be willing to take a drop to play for us regularly, rather than watch from the stands at Spurs.}

Hi I am a personal friend of 'schillo' -Steven Pienaar .Ed001 you have it wrong he is a Manutd supporter always has been, we constantly have banter on match days.He would however jump at the chance to play for the greatest club in the world. We grew up in the same neighbourhood and went to the same school-S.A. pudlian

I agree that Pienaar is class, but unfortunately it's like recess where the good times are too few and far between. Anyways don't we already have a versatile RB in GJ (albeit the fact that he's likely to be moved on) who can do the same things Pienaar can do? I'm still hoping we see Kelly at RB and GJ at RW sometime soon as that could be the key to rejuvenating our attack. azkop

What's happened to our great Club????

Once upon a time our great club had the ball's to fight the big boys but now we just lack ambition, we waste money on over-rated english players.
I keep saying we need to stop shopping at primark and go to topman, if i was the manager i'd buy only players from Spain, Germany, Netherland and South American we'd get better value.
I get this feeling DC is our new lazy Rick Parry, he never got off his backside to buy the players Rafa wanted. I also hope our owners stop this stupid thing "we want to lower the clubs wages" because at the end of the day we live in a world off footballers that all they care about is the money you offer them.

Dave

Top Man? Really?

Football has changed mate ie money, cpl, players wontining reg starts to play for there country etc.so its harder to get top players
