And now, according to certain newspapers, we are after Ivan Perisic.?

I honestly do wonder sometimes if people in TV and newspapers have a massive dart board with twenty relevant footballer's - for the week - faces and they take turns throwing darts and decide to run with whatever hits.

It would explain the number of 'certain signings' that the newspapers claim through their anonymous sources. Hell, if even half of them were right we would have enough players to field every team in England, including youth sides.

Regardless I am looking forward to watching Liverpool's pre-season matches. It will give younger players another chance to impress Jurgen and perhaps even change his mind in areas in which he aims to strengthen the side. I have no doubts the training will be rigorous but the improved fitness levels and match sharpness this could bring could be very beneficial.

I do have a question about pre-season actually, ED. Do you think we will bring in a new Head Physio before the start of pre season training? Or has the matter already been dealt with and I've simply missed it?

Great job as always with the site EDs, all the best.

YNWA.

{Ed002's Note - I cannot answer questions about the timing of appointments I am afraid.}

25 Jun 2016 09:37:43
My understanding is we have signed the physio from Bayern Munich. So hopefully this means an improvement on fitness levels and recovery.

24 Jun 2016 21:45:37
Ed is the signing of Mane a result of a Gotze snub?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - No.}

24 Jun 2016 22:36:48
Ed, so there is a possibility of both? Does that signal the end of Coutinho?

{Ed002's Note - RTP.}

24 Jun 2016 19:49:38
Hi eds, is there a serious reason why we keep signing Southampton players, I have just seen on Ssn we are in talks with mane, so just thought why Southampton again? thanks.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - It is far from difficult to work out, Klipperty wants Liverpool to by Sadio Mane. Sadio Mane plays for Southampton. Ergo ....}

24 Jun 2016 20:06:22
I thought it was because we were in the eu? But we are not now or is it because it will take a while for the effects to be seen ed?

24 Jun 2016 20:31:29
Is that "BUY", ed002?

{Ed002's Note - It is that damn premature text or whatever you suffer from Waro.}

24 Jun 2016 21:28:08
At our age ed002 shooting from the hip early is inevitable I'm afraid.

24 Jun 2016 21:28:08
At our age ed002 shooting from the hip early is inevitable I'm afraid.

{Ed002's Note - At my age it is the plastic hip W.}

24 Jun 2016 22:59:55
Any shot is better than nothing at all 👍.

25 Jun 2016 00:20:16
You only get a bucket and half.

24 Jun 2016 19:46:13
What are people opinions on brannagan?
Since sterling, I haven't really been excited about any of our youth prospects, not even ibe or ojo.
Do you reckon he has what it takes?

Believable3 Unbelievable9

24 Jun 2016 21:56:11
Looks at good player. Solid on fm. First season debut next to hendo. Weird aswel lallanas is double figures for goals and assists. Bur yeah I think he has what it takes to be a good solid player.

Most fielders are just that, good and solid. Modric and kross may be deemed world class bur there epitomy of solid simple football, pass the ball - look for space - get the ball back - repeat.

Branno can do that for us. He does not need to do what Gerrard did, the main reason gwrrard had to do what he did was mainly because he wasn't always supported with a team that was good enough for him in all aspects.

Branno coming in a solid unit with a few sprinkles of star dust in countinho and firmino, yes he could be great.

In simple terms Yes. Haha.

25 Jun 2016 00:21:29
So, solid then.

24 Jun 2016 19:44:01
One thing i can say is balotelli = imature morngy. suarez = imature and morngy. They are people we don't want for our club, yes suarez did good in other ways that's about it. But mane is just the same and will always be he's done one good half season, and we buy another one half season wonder. Who is imature and morngy whos not worth half of what we are paying for him, to just be the same as bal and suarez. thought we had enough of buying them type players yet it looks like we will never learn.

Believable0 Unbelievable12

24 Jun 2016 19:51:35
If he is half as good as suarez i'll pay double the quoted figure to the saints!

24 Jun 2016 21:57:13
Hardly half a good season. Wasn't his fowler breaking hat trick the season before.

He has been great over 2 seasons but in patches. That's the problem. He's a great player.

25 Jun 2016 07:35:34
Oh the confidence we have in our manager is just wonderful. A joy to read. So you won't be celebrating any of his goals IF we sign him.

24 Jun 2016 19:43:23
This is for ed02 long time reader don't post a lot but would like to say thanks for all your answers to some peoples silly questions. Even tho most of them r repeat questions lol. From your info that u give that u give u know your stuff. So u must be really busy man even to find out all the stuff u do. So thanks very much.

Believable11 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - Post of the day.}

25 Jun 2016 03:03:42
Totally agree, transfer season has a lot of guff on here but the eds do a great job at sifting through the rubbish to give strong answers to the legitimate questions.

24 Jun 2016 19:37:21
I think mane would be a terrible signing.
He will likely cost 35 million give or take a few million. for that type of money or any type of money I'd want a play player at our club with the right attitude. We all know mane has a stinker of an attitude. What makes him different to benteke? Klopp had 8 months to work with benteke and we seen no great change in bentekes attitude. That isn't an insult to klopp but a reality check.
Mane can be an excellent player but I don't see it and I don't see him ever showing value for that type of money.
We were warned about benteke and forked out way too much And again we are making the same mistake.

Believable3 Unbelievable18

24 Jun 2016 19:47:43
He has pace in abundance. Benteke has none.

24 Jun 2016 20:19:31
Who ca we buy that is as good as mane? He may have some issues, but if it works he'll be great.

24 Jun 2016 20:30:37
I didn't know Mane had a terrible attitude. I know Koeman had an issue with him for a week in Jan, turning up late and some other issue in the space of a week. Aside from that i can find no other on line info relating to this stinking attitude. I like him as a player.

24 Jun 2016 22:23:01
Mane is exactly the player we need talent wise. However, his attitude stinks to high heavens and Koeman has dropped or fined himself repeatedly for things like missing meetings, being late for training and for games, not just once in Jan. Also, he's been sent of their or four times since he arrived in the PL. His ability is and will never be the prob. His attitude is.

24 Jun 2016 22:34:21
Difference between him and Benteke? Two different managers wanted them, and guess which one I trust more.

24 Jun 2016 22:52:35
Show me the links Redohio that he has been fined or dropped for missing meetings, training etc.

24 Jun 2016 23:09:28
I've got to say, he did well to make 37 league appearances in 38 games last season considering he apparently has terrible discipline on the field and apparently gets dropped all the time!

Are we perhaps exaggerating how bad his "attitude" is, simply due to the fact we are concerned for our club?

After Balotelli and Benteke being signed in consecutive summers I think we're all just a little cautious over another big money signing with a rumoured attitude issue.

It doesn't actually seem like he is in the same category as they are attitude wise, because one thing you can't accuse Mane of is not giving 100% when he steps onto that pitch! He is a real workhorse and has the desire to win every game he plays.

25 Jun 2016 05:00:55
MK - i really don't think that the majority of fans had a clue about any supposed attitude problems until ed001 mentioned it.

24 Jun 2016 18:28:10
Hi Eds.

If Mane does sign, is it going to cost what the press are saying e. g. £30m.

I don't want you to go into details, it just seems a lot.

Cheers.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - By the time all of the extras have been added in I suspect it will be more. But it is unimportant.}

24 Jun 2016 18:39:39
Cheers mate.

I didn't think we had that amount to spend on 1 player this summer. I thought we would be going down the 'sell to buy' route?

24 Jun 2016 19:16:18
There are still a lot of players expected to move on from the squad including Benteke, Allen, Balotelli, Markovic, Skrtel, Ilori, Bogdan and a large number of younger players who haven't made the grade.

Some of these should help with bringing in a money for the buys.

24 Jun 2016 19:44:12
Sick to death of shopping at Southampton.

24 Jun 2016 22:23:34
Here, here, Dbol!

24 Jun 2016 22:42:04
Haha we finally agree on something Red. I suppose Mane is the highest calibre of player we're going to get without continuous champions league mate.
Just massively disappointed were on about paying £30million Plus for him.
Anyway sod it, bring on the new season! Can't wait.

25 Jun 2016 03:09:34
Seams like a lot to us but market rates are just what they are and eds advice is to move past the figure, if he comes and is fantastic none of us will bat an eye at at 37 mil for him. though i did shiver at writing that figure lol. Agree on champions league being a factor so if its costs us 50 to get back in so we can attract higher players in the next 3 seasons then its worth it.

24 Jun 2016 18:00:27
Looks like Skrtel has 3 offers. 2 from Italy and 1 from Turkey. Besiktas, Roma and Inter. Not sure which option he would go for but those are the 3 in for him at the present moment.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

24 Jun 2016 18:36:39
Good servant for the club (the season after coming 2nd, I thought he was outstanding all year), but it's the right time for both player and club to have a parting of the ways. Good luck Skirts.

24 Jun 2016 22:26:20
He has never been outstanding at anytime last year. You must have been watching a diff team and a diff player in red. Also, he was not a good servant to the club as he stiffed us a few years a go to get a new deal so again, you post lacks substance on this subject, Dances.

24 Jun 2016 23:26:43
Think he meant in 2008/ 09 alongside Agger redohio.

24 Jun 2016 17:59:24
Don't want to complicate matters but, will there still be interest in Gotze if we sign Mane? Or is that that?

Believable1 Unbelievable3

24 Jun 2016 19:17:18
Not unless one of the Coutinho, Lallana or Firmino leaves.

24 Jun 2016 20:59:32
I think he will come in as a replacement for one of Coutinho or Firmino if he does come in.

He's too similar to those two and will want guarantees of game time as well.

24 Jun 2016 20:59:32

24 Jun 2016 19:28:00
I would happily sell Lallana to bring in Gotze.

24 Jun 2016 22:44:58
Don't know about Gotze but I read a rumour regarding Perasic, now there's a rumour I could get on board with. Now I know it's never going to happen, a bit like the Kovacic rumour but it doesn't hurt to dream. I think Klopp and Perasic had a but of a falling out at Borussia.

25 Jun 2016 00:25:17
None of the Firmino, coutinho orLallana will leave. Have nothing to do with Mane signing. Lallana will most likely make way for Mane.

25 Jun 2016 03:11:55
I can't see Lallana leaving. Mane IMO would more likely be 'competition' for starting roles.

25 Jun 2016 08:07:35
I would prefer Coutinho goes leaving Firmino. For one, more output and seems not to allow pressure paralyse him at big games rather it gingers him. Both maybe said to be inconsistent, but at least Firmino scores more once he gets his rhythm. Besides it is easier to make a profit with Coutinho than Firmino.

24 Jun 2016 17:54:27
I don't know about you lot but I blame brexit on the transfer comittee.

Believable11 Unbelievable2

24 Jun 2016 18:14:22
Why is this amusing to a lot of you on here? This WILL have major implications on private sector jobs effect house prices and is a very worrying time for millions. The far right now have the power in this country which should worry every right minded person in England. Sounds like a lot of you enjoy the bank of mum and dad, well that graveyard train will end in the next few years and force a lot of you to live in the real world.

24 Jun 2016 18:32:52
We've taken an unnecessary risk, and I can't quite understand that to be honest. I'm 30,and I voted to remain in. I'm worried about the possible ramifications in the future for our country.

24 Jun 2016 18:38:07
I agree with Waro, but to pin it on the people who "enjoy the bank of mum and dad" is a bit wrong, as 75% of 18-25 year olds voted to remain. To make light of a day where potentially the whole of the UK is going to be crucified by the EU when making terms is worrying for all our futures.

24 Jun 2016 18:44:48
Totally agree. Baffling really but now we are stuck with Boris and his cronies. Ridiculous decision by a mainly 50 + voter.

{Ed001's Note - or perhaps the correct decision by a bunch of wiser heads? You were stuck with Boris and his cronies anyway, so I fail to see how this has made that change.}

24 Jun 2016 18:47:21
Gravey train.

{Ed002's Note - If you could spell gravy it would not have been a problem.}

24 Jun 2016 18:57:04
Agree with Waro. The turkeys have voted for Christmas and also given away free Cramberry sauce for everyone.
The deal isn't sealed yet though 😉.

24 Jun 2016 19:05:20
Guess the question is do you want a political ruling elite you can vote out every 5 years or one that you can't choose and can't vote out.

24 Jun 2016 19:13:49
Ed002 that killed me.

24 Jun 2016 19:19:57
If you've purchased a property over the last two decades then you've been well and truly ripped off.

If you're a young couple looking to jump on the housing market (which many people are, and are ripped off with rents and lack of social housing), and the rumours of a housing collapse is true (which was inevitable anyway on a false economy), then congratulations, you've struck gold.

Always pros and cons to this referendum, and I was personally on the fence, yet fascinated with the outcome.

Only one way now to back up Waro, and it's get them shower tories out of office once and for all and redistribute some wealth fairly (with the exceptions of Manchester of course)

24 Jun 2016 19:25:16
predictive text then ed002, that's twice it got me. Funny though ed002, like a nose.

24 Jun 2016 19:29:38
Not the first time an e has h###ed me up ed002.

{Ed002's Note - I suspect not.}

24 Jun 2016 19:45:06
Right decision and also a brave one, I admire England for breaking away from the ever growing control of a one world government. You will be fine I wish more countries would go alone.

24 Jun 2016 19:50:54
What aboot de ol' smelly socks eh? They have another referendum up there now . well then - Heid doon arse up!

24 Jun 2016 20:12:55
I live in the real world thanks very much waro. I also haven't had a penny from my mum and dad for quite sometime, have worked extremely hard and got on the property ladder. Your assumptions and generalisations are embarrassing. As far as I'm aware this is a banter site and you yourself enjoy causing controversy on a regular basis on here.

24 Jun 2016 20:38:52
We will be fine.

24 Jun 2016 21:02:11
Over 65s voted for this. 75% of 18-24s (me included) voted to remain.

Shame our future has been decided by those who have already lived theirs.

24 Jun 2016 21:02:11

24 Jun 2016 22:05:29
Haven't seen any statistics so if this correct I apologise, I just can't see 50 to 70 year olds making jokes about it as I've seen on here.

24 Jun 2016 22:07:08
Puzzled Red My thoughts exactly.

24 Jun 2016 22:49:13
Puzzled Red.
I am not in the age bracket to which you refer.
What a dispicable phrase to use.
I hope, I honestley do, hope you make the Grand Old age of 65 and have the capacity, which I am sure you will, to remember the day you wrote those words. When you are still enjoying life and voting I am sure you will reflect on those words with total disgust.
Shame On You Puzzled Red though I now see were your name comes from.
Good Luck you are going to need it.

25 Jun 2016 10:46:16
There is a petition for a 2nd referendum if you google it.
It has over a million signatures already.

{Ed001's Note - that is ridiculous, people made their choice, now it should be about making the best of it.}

25 Jun 2016 10:58:56
I think some who voted leave feel cheated by Boris, Leave and Farage who are all backtracking already.
Boris - "no rush to leave" really? When we're spending 350 million a week?
Vote Leave - "we want CONTROL of immigration but we're not necessarily going to reduce it"
Farage - "Promise of spending more money on NHS was a mistake"

I don't think they expected to have a hole in hell and now they are bricking it.

{Ed002's Note - It is the likely fear of the unknown that is driving what I see as over-reaction and scaremongering. Personally I still find it hard to believe that so many folk decided that voting for the unknown was such a nifty idea on Thursday.

The reality of where the UK is right now is that the majority who voted want to leave – at least they did on Thursday but I understand that many are not so sure that they would vote the same way if the opportunity arose again today. My advice would be for the EU nations to see this as an indicator that after 60 years some remedial repair work and a fresh coat of paint is required. Perhaps then the EU could get together and try and look to resolving issues surrounding what parts of the EU various nations perceive to be broken. Perhaps that would become a more likely scenario if other nations were to also look to having a remain/leave referendum?}

25 Jun 2016 11:21:08
Wow ed002, that is a phenomenal response and very interesting to read from someone I believe has "an independent opinion" - as in you're not a voter on this - and someone I regard as informed and highly intelligent.

Thanks.

25 Jun 2016 15:47:06
There has been some scaremongering but not all of it is rhetoric and blunderbus. There will be repercussions, mostly economic and those that are not in a position to be resilient to the coming hardships will suffer more than the millionaire politicians that drove the leave campaign.

I am used to living on the breadline so it will not make much difference to me. I agree with ed001 too, we have made our bed, suck it up and make it work. People will hipefully not be so blasè.

25 Jun 2016 17:21:59
To put it bluntly, the remain voters who are spitting the dummy are a pathetic embarrassment. A petition for a second referendum? What a baffling display of (lack of) emotional maturity. You had an opportunity via democratic means to vote remain, you lost, so get over it. I've seen more emotional maturity in a 6 year old than the regressive morons who heckled and abused Boris Johnson when he left his own home. What an absolute bunch of plebs. If that's their reaction to losing, then perhaps the referendum result justifies why the heavily youth-backed remain vote needed to lose. What would these idiots know about running a country when they don't even know how to lose in a democratic process? With such contemptible reactions, do they even want democracy? Or only when it suits them?

24 Jun 2016 17:43:29
I'm not sure how I feel about signing mane but if klopp thinks he's the player he needs I'm good with that in the end of the day he knows a lot more about football then I do. I see a lot of people giving out about the price but money in football is gone mad lads to put in context it looks like troy deeney is going to go to Leicester for 30 mil. A player who spent most of his career in lower leagues and who is 28 I think. So mane who has 2 seasons in the league under his belt and is only 24 must be in around the same value.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

24 Jun 2016 19:07:10
That's the kind of logic that is selling the deal to me. I was dead against it, but now? I think he's probably the best and most achievable attacker available. Not ideal but better than Walcott etc by a mile.

24 Jun 2016 19:20:27
Man Walcott would be a disaster he'd be out inured most of the season.

24 Jun 2016 17:03:08
Don't be surprised to see Jonas hector as our starting left back next season. 👍.

24 Jun 2016 17:27:25
This your own opinion?

24 Jun 2016 18:35:16
Please Johnnyd, do explane? As for now I would be very surprised to see him start, except in my dreams!

24 Jun 2016 19:39:11
Johnny has got it off Twitter and I know by who .

24 Jun 2016 16:12:19
I think we should all cast our mind back to when ed001 noted that Payet's career took a bit of time to take off like it just did, because of his attitude. West Ham took a risk on the player, and its paid off for them.

I can see the same with Mane. Very talented player who is allegedly average in the attitude department.

At the end of the day, not being in the UCL somewhat forces us to takes these risks.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

24 Jun 2016 16:31:55
Personally think Mane has great talent, would love him at the club.

24 Jun 2016 16:41:55
I'm kinda disappointed with klopp I expected him to pluck the likes of mane from red bull where saints bought him from rather than buy off them? I wanted him to cut out the middle man but clearly he's not what was expected I want him to say £30m you're having a laugh! And to buy him for £15m max or sign someone from left field for 5-10 who's going to surprise us.

24 Jun 2016 16:51:49
he will come with a clean slate as regards to his behaviour, it will be up to him to make sure it stays like that, there is no question about his ability, let's hope the player himself realises what a opportunity a move to Liverpool would represent, on the plus side with the amount of Southampton players already here, settling in will not be a problem.

24 Jun 2016 17:55:02
Klopp was at BVB when Mane was playing for Red Bull Salzburg. Did you want Mane to sign for BVB?

24 Jun 2016 18:33:10
I'm sure if Klopp signs him from whatever that club name is, say for £10m, people will moan and whine about him signing unknowns unprovens bla bla bla. Some already questioning him signing Grujic. You guys get what I mean.

24 Jun 2016 22:30:27
"cheap" players are no good, "expensive players" are a waste of money, damned if you do, damned if you don't, we will always have this situation, the fact that it is another player from Southampton does not help, surely though we have bought our last one from the saints, there can't be anybody left to buy ( don't say shane long please}, I think we should ban ourselves from buying Southampton players for at least 3 seasons, the way we are going it would be cheaper to merge with them. ( I would offer £25m for mane and give them lallana back, shame we never had a returns policy set up with them}.

24 Jun 2016 15:41:40
Hi Ed's, probably banter page. Do you think that if we sign Mané that will erase any interest we have in Goetze ie that position of attacking goal scoring midfielder filled?
If so, do you or any of the other reds believe Mané is a better option.? I for one do.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - Try to avoid complicating matters.}

24 Jun 2016 15:57:44
We would only look to other attacking targets if one of our attacking midfielders where to be sold. There is interest in both firmino and coutinho, let's hope we just keep hold of them and add mane. Forget goetze, he doesn't want to come here.

24 Jun 2016 15:58:06
I know that many people have their reservations about Mane, i have mine. But Klopp needs to buy the players he wants and work with the players he believes in. If i was a player and Klopp bought me i'd work my butt off everyday, i'd try to be pillar of professionalism.

Hopefully Mane has a moment of clarity and just buckles down and grafts like a good one. He's got all the attributes to be a class act and if we sign him hopefully he has a great Liverpool career and puts his attitude issues to bed.

Ideal scenario i know, but the glass is half full (it's Friday) :)

{Ed002's Note - Do you have a crush on Klipperty?}

24 Jun 2016 16:05:22
Basically mate, we are interested in both. Klopp likes them as players and has given the go ahead. Now the club will try and negotiate a deal for a price they deem acceptable.

It's not as black and white as "do we want one or both? "

Klopp would probably like both, but you need to find common ground and keep the books balanced. That's as well as convincing the player to join and making an acceptable offer to his club.

If Firmino and Coutinho were both to leave, signing Mane and Gotze probably becomes more of a possibility. If neither player leaves we may still sign one or both. Who knows? There is no way we can expect the Eds to answer these sort of questions.

There are too many possible outcomes, and hurdles to jump, and bridges to cross etc to predict what will happen. Things change very quickly in football.

All the Eds can do is tell us where there is interest, and where we have made enquiries or bids. They can't accurately guess who will sign and what will happen. The club is currently showing interest in deals for Amavi, Chilwell, Zielinski and Mane. The Eds and Macca have refused to 100% rule out Gotze but the player himself seems to be complicating things.

Don't get embroiled in the financial details or who is first pick, or whether it's one or the other. That is where the interest is so those are the rumours worth watching. Simple us that buddy.

24 Jun 2016 16:22:09
We are not going to get Goetze as well as Mane chaps. Thst would be crazy. let's give Mane a chance. Yes he is expensive but so is everyone else and we have to meet any asking price if we want these types of players.

24 Jun 2016 16:33:59
Nice one MK you explained it perfectly.

24 Jun 2016 16:45:45
Not a criticism of mane but maybe we can look outside the nation of southampton for players for one season. We seem to be buying the southampton team and we are getting worse as a team, just saying.

No doubt mane will be a success, i hope, not my money being spent so i will leave the value for money debate to the lfc finance bods.

24 Jun 2016 16:30:01
Mane, Zielinski an Chilwell would end our summer recruits. Any more additions would see Coutinho / Firmino leave.
We are paying more on Mane than what Bayern would command for Gotze. It's simple Gotze doesn't want to come.

24 Jun 2016 19:35:17
I agree to some extent harry although i think mane is coming regardless of who leaves. I think he is an addition to our first team rather than a replacement for someone leaving. I also think that if coutinho leaves we will push for gotze to replace him.

Out of our most recent overpayment on players mane is the least worrisome buy if it happens. He will clearly fit in with our style of play and add value to the team.

We now need to start clearing the decks when the window opens next week and we can then take stock depending on who stays or goes.

24 Jun 2016 14:58:01
Mane talk now on bbc and sky sports. But nothing we didn't already know courtesy of the eds 👍.

Dear Eds, will this Brexit decision pave way to selling LFC?

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Lol, Henry was just awaiting the outcome of the referendum before deciding whether to sell or not.

24 Jun 2016 13:25:02
a question for edds if not suttiable for liverppool rumors please post elsewere
now the uk has decided to leave the eu do you think this will have a affecet on the talk about breakaway league or is it just rumors of a breakaway cheers keep up the good work edds lfc for life.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It has no impact on those discussions at all - UEFA is not tied to the European Union and not all of the "elite" clubs are from countries that are part of the EU.

In August there is an "elite" club meeting scheduled and although it is not on the agenda (the agenda being dominated by one issue right now) I suspect there will be some interesting side discussions about it, in the same way that I expect there will be some interesting side discussions about the problems with hooligans that we have seen again recently.

There is also a UEFA meeting scheduled for September (in Athens) and this BREXIT issue may be added to the agenda - or at least held over for next time around - December I think. But it will only be a minor discussion as it is too early to know the impact on visas etc..}

24 Jun 2016 13:05:52
Very quiet on here today. Makes me anxious! On another note, with Matip coming in it'll be interesting to see if he'll continue to use the number 32 or choose to take the vacant 4 or 5.
Am I right in saying a player can choose any number they want Ed's? Or is there times when the club might reserve a particular number for, let's say a bigger name coming in?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Fans obsess about shirt numbers more than the clubs and the majority of players.}

Obsess is a strong word. Be interesting is all.

I think what he is trying to say is that England (but he means the UK) have left the EU and the leader (Cameron) resigns.

And he now expects England (actually England this time) to exit the Euros and for the leader (Hodgson) to resign.

That's where I got anyway, but my translation may be off.

Do you speak English?

24 Jun 2016 11:40:56
what is actually going on with balotelli? Besiktas showing interest . Are we just going to let him go with no transfer fee? Or is klopp going to give him a chance in pre season?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Jun 2016 12:08:53
I think we should pay them to take him.

24 Jun 2016 12:31:18
The club want him out.

24 Jun 2016 12:36:42
Personally, I'd release him from his contract (if we can) and wash our hands of him. We should never have signed him in the first place, it was a massive mistake.

24 Jun 2016 12:42:56
If by release u mean pay him off. Whatever the best financial solution is then do that.

24 Jun 2016 12:54:43
Why do people keeping saying about giving him a pre season, nothing at all has changed since the day he left us
He doesn't deserve a pre season with us get him
Gone, the sooner the better.

24 Jun 2016 13:30:32

24 Jun 2016 15:13:34
I don't care were he goes as long as he's gone.

24 Jun 2016 16:31:00
I do care where he goes, because he cost us £16 million on transfer fees.

24 Jun 2016 10:49:39

Ok not Liverpool related but the most immediate decision that needs to be taken today is how does the media refer to the knock on effect "the Germaneejerk"

"Brexit" will be followed by Grexit. Departugal. Italeave. Fruckoff. Czechout. Outstria. Finish. Latervia. Byegium.

Hi Ed 02, what impact will the latest result to leave european referendum have on Premier League as a whole?

Regards!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It is not actually clear what would happen in the long term but there will certainly not be any overnight change. The eventual position will likely be a need for work permits and residence permits. In terms of existing EU citizens already working in the UK, there is no plan but I would think an amnesty would be the likely decision followed by a quota system of some type. Just so people are clear the home nations have not left UEFA.}

24 Jun 2016 10:49:53
A possible and maybe likely future is that we agree free movement of labour as part of our access to the single market. If that was the case then nothing would change.

24 Jun 2016 10:54:48
We don't leave for like another 2 years, we don't start negotioating are exit until October. We have asked to leave with the vote but still a lot of logistics.

We will be in charge of our immigration policy now so can set it and have to see what happens. We will still be able to buy elite players but the good thing is we womt be able to wash out our academies with too many buys and someone like. markovoc couldn't of come in and took the likes of ibes palce. We will only spend our money on the best talent and will have to use our youth.

Sure we might lose out on some good talents but we should start now injecting millions into our acsdemies, getting the best cosches and scours and prepare for what could come in x many years.

This summer for example I don't think zielinksi would be able to join but branno then gets a chance. So is it the worst thing.

24 Jun 2016 13:31:22
@ muscat red - seems very unlikely to me given the free movement of labour within the EU was what the entire leave campaign was built on i. e. they don't want it because all those foreigners will come here. It would be a stupendous turnaround if they agreed to that and I suspect many of the brexiteers would be far from happy.

24 Jun 2016 15:03:27
Ao potenially, it will be hard to lure any kids from other country? Do you think its going to be good thing for League?

Regards!

24 Jun 2016 15:07:27
Seano, prepare for people to be unhappy then. The leave campaign made no secret that they wanted access to the single market and used Norway as their example. The cost of this access for Norway is free movement of labour (think John Arne Riise not needing a work permit) and the acceptance of EU regulations.

With apologies to the eds for being political on the football page the irony is that we will still end up following EU law and regulations without getting a say in any of it. So much for 'taking back control'.

24 Jun 2016 18:04:27
They will not gain access to the single market without allowing free movement of labour and, if they do that, they are going against everything their brexit campaign was based on (i. e. hatred and fear of foreigners and immigrants) - i'm not saying they wouldn't be bold enough to do that, I'm simply saying i'd be disgusted if they did as their win would have been on the back of lies (which it sort of was anyway) . They'll also need to pay a handsome figure to be apart of the single market yet out of the EU - it is miles away from the perfect situation and will take years to thrash out.

24 Jun 2016 09:41:23
I would be delighted if we got Mane, pace power, hard working and end product, something we have been missing out wide for a long time.

Believable7 Unbelievable7

24 Jun 2016 10:35:18
I agree Eamon but seemingly he has a terrible attitude. So do we really need that in the dressing room?

24 Jun 2016 12:32:44
Player yes attitude no. question is who else a similar type of player available. I can't think of an obvious answer but we do need the pace and power. I would have thought for the money better options would have been available.
Then again klopp doesn't seem to be one to take on a Prem a Donna without having some plan, at least I hope!

24 Jun 2016 13:29:37
OK Shane but if JK can't sort Mane out then that's £30m down the tubes and where have we seen that before.

24 Jun 2016 14:16:50
I get where your coming from Barry, but without champions league football I think we have to take a gamble on him and hope he works out. We don't have the luxury of going for the best quality player with great attitudes.

24 Jun 2016 09:40:32
Hi Eds . This might sound like a daft question but with the recent EU result does it have an adverse effect on any potential signings/ sales?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No, of course not.}

24 Jun 2016 09:26:56
Hi Eds and Reds,

I have a question regarding 'tapping up'.
There has been a lot made about tapping up players on this site in recent times.
I would like to have something cleared up by the Eds, if possible, is it only considered tapping up if a club representative contacts a player directly?
If for example, a club representative were to contact a players agent without first contacting the players current club, is that also considered tapping up?
I can see various scenarios (could be way off from what really happens), where it would be possible for clubs to contact agents before clubs.

Now on to my ridiculous question regarding names being brandished in every newspaper.
The latest name in today's instalment, is Fenerbache's Nani.
Will he be moving, and if so, where to? Fee is said to be 8.5m euro.
I hear Everton might be an option, and some are even reporting interest from Liverpool.

It would be interesting to know if there have been many players who have played for both Liverpool and Man Utd.
I know of Ince and Owen. Anyone else?

Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It is a direct approach to the player by a club that is the issue. Clubs and agents talk all of the time. I am not aware of any approach by Liverpool for Nani at this time.

There have only been (as I recall) nine direct transfers between the clubs and none in the past 50 years or so. There is Beardsley to add to your list and no doubt other will give you all of the details.}

24 Jun 2016 09:22:53
Although jaded after a string of 'bad buys' over the years, there are strong upsides for us to deal for Mane, if one can be done. He has similar numbers to one of our best payers last season:-

Mane
15 goals and 9 assists
43 games (3,114 mins) , all comps

Firmino
11 goals and 11 assists
49 games (3,326 mins), all comps

He'd improve the first 11, we don't have a player like him at the moment. It could also help bring Ibe and Ojo along by working and learning from him.

24 Jun 2016 08:43:43
Alrights Eds
Would Robbie Brady be considered as an alternative to either Chidwell or Robertson great utility player with bags of premiership experience yet still young enough . His performances at the Euros have proven even more that he is a talent and could easily fit into Klopps system .

Believable0 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - Why are the Liverpool fans suddenly obsessed with Brady? Why can't Liverpool fans spell Chilwell? Why have the Liverpool fans ignored my telling them about interest in Amavi?}

24 Jun 2016 11:15:36
Amavi was class until his injury. Strong, quick and defender first and foremost. I'd take him.

24 Jun 2016 12:39:34
Davey I'm with you. Amavi looked a really good player before his injury, and, provided the price is reasonable, I'd be happy if we got him.

24 Jun 2016 08:34:43
Hi Ed002, a financial question so I realise I am on thin ice here. With the American based owners, will the pounds drop in value following us l leaving EU have any impact, in theory positive or is it not worth concerning myself with?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - In real terms to the club it makes no difference for the owners. The club operates in GBP and the $ income it has will be from pre-season tours and small amounts of sponsorship - but nothing beyond a reasonably small amount of money that any fluctuation in value of the pound will not be of much consequence. Unless of course the owners wish to borrow $ to pump in to the club - that would be beneficial. Today is a day to spend you $ on buying £.}

24 Jun 2016 09:34:31
If anything would it not just mean prospective buyer's had a small window to buy a club at a knocked down rate? Something I'm sure current owners woukd rebuff.

{Ed002's Note - No, business does not work like that.}

24 Jun 2016 11:30:03
Just going off what an investment banker said on SSN buddy, given he knows a great deal more than me! Ha.

{Ed002's Note - So he thinks that there is a $ cash buyer that will own Liverpool today?}

24 Jun 2016 11:34:57
Nope, not what i said. He said there would be a small window of opportunity for overseas investors to buy into or buy club's at a knockdown rate.

{Ed002's Note - It is nonsense - he is simply talking about the better exchange rate there is today.}

24 Jun 2016 07:26:14
Morning all and eds. just wondering if the guys can give me some details of mane's attitude issues that everyone says he has? I reckon he's a very good player myself.
Cheers.

I know it's early days, any thoughts on the Brexit outcome on the Premier League?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

24 Jun 2016 07:15:53
Won't make the blindest bit of difference mate. The UK will renegotiate trade deals and its still unclear if European players will even need work permits. I doubt they will though. Switzerland and Iceland aren't in the EU and their players can still play here without permits.

With regards to the players already here in the country, it won't even phase them. The UK won't just deport 10% of their work force now!

Immigration will probably rise long term as the points based system that will eventually be introduced will make it fairer and easier for Asian, African, American etc immigrants with trade skills or money behind them to move here. Anyone who voted leave to stop immigration has been fooled by Farage. Voting leave will just make the diversity amongst immigrants coming here more broad, and give us control over who we let in. Immigration is great for the economy though, so they won't just cull it all!

Don't worry about the Premier League. Nothing will change majorly. The remain campaign was as much built on fear and scare mongering as Farages leave campaign was!

24 Jun 2016 09:23:58
Fully agreed on the wool that Farage deployed. Trade deals will be far more complicated. I am sure that the EU as we know it is over, The Dutch, The Danes, The Italians and the Poles all oppose the growth of the federalist movement, even in Germany >25% have worries. My question was based more on restrictions on foreign players, I for one welcome talented hungry young foreign players in to the league, I would not want to see that stopped. I heard a story that most UK "elite" youngsters are millionaires before they sign their 1st pro contract, they don't have the same hunger of kids dealing with tough situations in places like Uruguay.

23 Jun 2016 23:01:21
Edd 001 what's your opinion on Mane as a player? How he would fit in the team, what position do you think suits him best etc. Always like your opinion on players. I know Ed002 doesn't like to rate players that's why the question is aimed at you. BTW not saying it will happen or asking if it will happen if know that's been done to death.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - as a player he is pacey, powerful and skilful. Without doubt he is a winger, that is where he really affects the game. If he had the right attitude this would be a signing that excites me, it is just his attitude that bothers me. What I like about him is that he regularly has an end product to his work.}

24 Jun 2016 07:51:51
May be a silly question but would klopp be aware he is a pain the backside or not?

{Ed002's Note - The research will have been done and the club should be aware of any potential issues - two of the key considerations in any transfer is integration in to the club and integration in to the squad. This is omething often forgotten by those grasping at names.}

24 Jun 2016 10:43:52
Thanks for replying. You guys are really second to none with the level of your information.

24 Jun 2016 11:48:22
With that being said ed about integration. Why was Balotelli signed?

{Ed002's Note - Done to death.}

23 Jun 2016 22:36:00
Eds with the main stand nearing completion, is there an appetite within the club to continue with the building and expand the last part? I know they've planning permission etc, just wondering if it will be put on the long finger or actually built?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - as I said before we even approached him, Liverpool was a job he really wanted and the only thing stopping us appointing him was that we had not spoken to him. He jumped at the chance.}

23 Jun 2016 22:14:42
Hi Eds/ reds!

Could i pick your brains regarding Ojo,
I wondered what is happening with him this season. Is he looking at going on loan i hope so as he needs regular football, also i do not believe a good pre season for him would be enough to secure regular football for us. Apologies if I've missed something and i'm way off the mark but would a loan to a prem club be an option? Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - Klopp would prefer to avoid loans and integrate players into the squad.}

24 Jun 2016 07:54:26
I like this approach, i know it can be great for players but you can't deny that if you are trying to create a culture somewhere, it is hugely beneficial to keep these guys in house and put an emphasis on development.

24 Jun 2016 10:51:18
Eds/ Reds

Thanks for the replies!
Can i just say i would prefer Ojo stay and develop at the club (what a gem we have here) but for me his development is paramount. i'm going to anger a few posters here apologies but if an offer came in for our waste cadet (Lallana) and is a fair offer snap their hand off. Ojo is just as good if not better going forward IMO and has goals in him Eds/ reds I'm interested in your opinions. Thanks!
