Would any other fans like to see the following given a chance

-Sterling
-Morgan
-Suso
-Ngoo
-Wisdom
-Coady

these lads are brilliant.
why not play them, age is irrelevant theyre all talented and red through and through !

Yes , would like to start to see them get a few minutes on the pitch , but they need regular game time as well for 90 minutes , its a fine line............lfc

I would like to see some of the kids play some games, but I think it's to soon. We need the players we bought in the summer, to play as much as possible to get to know each others game. They need to get used to Kenny and Steve's tactics, formations, training etc.

We probably won't see any kids this season, there's still rebuilding to do, with the 1st team. But we know we could have a couple of gems on our hands, for the future. The one I think could be used if any, is Jack Robinson. If anything happens to Enrique, I think this kid could be more than able to fill in. He's already proven he can cut it with the big boys, just ask Theo Walcott.

Just my opinion mate, good question.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

I would add adorjan to that list too, that kid has talent

I would toni silva, he is quality.RedTurk

ECCLESTON proper flying machine, bob paisleys skids

I watch all these lads play via the LFCTV channel and they are good propects, but they are not near the first team just yet. Still lots to learn in Reserve football, perhaps give them some playing time if possible but lets not get carried away.
Looking forward to watching them beat the spam later today.!

The same kids have been playing the next gen series and have been beaten twice by the portuguese team in their group they are not just ready to play in the first team yet, putting them in games before they are ready will harm their confidence and so set them back.

Syd

Mate sporting Lisbon have got 1 of the best academies going. There the only academy to have produced two world player of the year.

King luis

Syd is spot on with his comment.

These kids though very talented are not ready for the first team and wont be for another few years ferguson has rushed through kids and ruined them wenger has done the same not to the same extent lets just let these kids progress in their own time and be ready team

Adam Morgan for the first team the lad cant stop scoring

Raheem and suso are amazing to start bringing people through the academy instaed of wasting millions.

Does anybody else have a feeling our current crop of players are under achieving?
I feel we are having a great season still, it's just I see this team becoming so much better in the second half of the season.
Our defence is starting to look solid, that's a back 4 of
Johnson skrtle agger Enrique
Maybe it's carra not being there, unfortunately I think he is finished as a first team regular.
Our midfield seems to need one more player, a right winger.
Our strikers need to start scoring, everything else is alright.
Our team seems to be future proof, you could add 5 years onto every player and most would prob be still in the first team, plus all them youngsters we keep talking about will be superstars.
Lots to shout about.

MIKEY

So true first team wise we need a class right winger but also an attacking mid that scores and sets up goals in open play. then we are ok until the summer get poulson's replacement and kuyt's and promote a player from reserves to replace maxi three choices; sterling, suso or silva.

How about Raheem Sterling rooney played at 16

Sterling is half the size of a chunky 16 year old Rooney. He would get torn a new one if played in the first team before he bulks up and gets a bit of man strength.
He has the potential to be a world beater, he makes his team mates look ordinary sometimes, but he is still years away from liverpools first team.
He needs to bulk up a bit and learn to pass a bit more, he is very selfish on the ball, he can be selfish at the level he is at but not at the level he wishes to be at.

Here's an idea - how about a new stadium built in the docks? What a setting that would be - and what a way to regenerate the run down docklands to the north of the city.

Just an idea.

King Tubby.

Would look great but I am sure getting the planning permits there would be worse than expanding anfield.
Plus I would be a bit worried about falling in the water after a few pints haha

MIKEY

The docks are up for redevelopment anyway. The permission would be difficult but I can't help but think that the stadium would be bloody amazing - on the Mersey, big iconic structure. A real part of the city.

But yes, after a few tipples the river setting might be a bit risky. Although I think Zenit St P have a riverside stadium - and they're always smashed on Vodka.

Just move to Dublin ! Now that would be nice !

Nah thanks! Stanley Park is far enuf if we did move. The idea of not strolling from the SANDOWN to watch the match would kill me.

I know people are saying about how we are better off on points than this time last season , but it doesn't mean anything when teams around you are also doing better.

I couldn't careless what our points tally is , I'm only concerned about our league position.

Onto transfers I'm happy with our squad we've players challenging for most positions , but please these kids in reserves are years away from being ready for the first team.
I hope when we look at buying players we look at 1 or 2 quality players , I think our squads bug enough now.

LAVERS

Agree the league is much harder this year all teams have stepped it up and we all are seeing the differences. good to see makes it lot more exciting.

Dalglish must be furious on missing out Phil Jones. I mean the lad can play everywhere on the pitch! He can even score an OWN GOAL!

Thats being awfully bitter mate. The lad is a very good player and you know that.I'm a liverpool than I admit this.Jaime carragher has been a great player for us and he has scored plenty of own goals.Thats part of being a defender.

Danny

He's not a bad player he's just over-rated and over hyped by a Manc obsessed media. I even read a glowing report of his performance in an England game when we was skinned a couple of times and almost gave away a penalty. would I have him at Liverpool, yes, do I think he'd get in our first team as a regular, no.

Behave mate. Course Jones would be in the side. I wish we'd signed him, I tell you.
The Real KB

He is an ok player we should wait three to four years what player he can turn to be coz whenever he plays nothing briliant and makes some crucial mistakes. And he is very short for defender may be should play as midfielder and united love to hype their player eg bebe next ronaldo

Rather him than carrol!

Was really disappointed he went to Utd, he is a very promising player who whilst being very good now will only get better.

RedSG

It doesn't matter what any of us say or write Jones went to the club that he wanted and once m.u. were interested we didn't stand a chance. Let's concentrate and SUPPORT the players that we do have and who want to play for US.
Dutchmal

Obviously im biased towards our players but seb coates over the next few seasons will (imo) become a far better player than jones, look at what the lad has already acomplished 4 club and country an still so young..

RED4lifeNOTjust4XMAS

Have to agree about Coates. Jones is a fantastic player still.
We shall see over the years who turns out better but we can all agree both teams have a superstar in the making.

Did you guys see Fergie donating some chewing gums to disadvantaged kids ? Just heard it's same charity that fixed it for Bebe to join Utd

Tekneek

Bebe who the next ronaldo

Lol Every time I hear bebe's name being mentioned I can't help but think bebe off of south park has signed for united. Makes perfect sense to me...

Hi Ed.......I think we would probaly need another striker....someone who can hover around the box & not get too dragged out of position......i've heard all these names comin out & all these prices that the club would have to spend.......so what do you think of trying Adam Morgan instead of paying mad money for other players?? I know he has only just turned 17 but he plays well above his age & his attitude is spot on & above all he knows where the net is......Micheal Owen was only 17 when he played for the first team & look what a player he turned out to be for us.....I reckon to stick him in cuz the way we have been playing & the amount of chances we make in a game would suit Mogan! He could be this striker we've been looking for & he's been right under our noses all the time! Wat do you think on this, Ed?? Cheers mate, Gibbo. {Ed002's Note - Morgan will likely need some time on loan to gain experience before getting a first team chance.}

Owen turned out to be a crock, playing first team football at such a young age must of had a part in all them injurys. We don't need to play the youngsters out of desperation anymore, so we can keep them until they are ready. Playing them at such an early age only hinders there progress if anything. At least in most cases. Rooney was a bit different.

MIKEY

Alrite MIKEY.....your rite wat your sayin about puttin the young lads in too early but Morgan just seems to av this knack of puttin the ball in the back of the net......i don't know if the goal posts open up for him when he's in front of goal but he seems more times than not to put the ball away! I was just thinkin maybe it would be a good idea to give him a go & see how he got on.....maybe in the F.A cup.....who knows a good idea or not? But really like you say if it would hinder him then time would be a better bet! Cheers, Gibbo.

24 Nov 2011 19:07:08
ED's, do you suppose once the last group games of the champions league are played, we'll hear of more development of players being available in the January window? {Ed002's Note - I don't think that anything Liverpool do in January will have any connection to the Champion's League.}

24 Nov 2011 18:53:26
who is the best holding midfield in the epl with in last season and this, just that me and brother dont agree,if any fancy the banter please reply.

Lucas

Scott Parker for me.

Ash

Lucas

Personally i would say its between lucas, song parker,an tiote

belfast red adam

Good shout, tiote for me

For me it would have to be scotty parker

Danny

Scott parker by far

Parker, tiote only diff,, about 5 years

Whoever said Scott Parker, are you serious? Statistically Lucas IS the best holding midfielder and he plays for LFC, it is a no brainier. I don't mind usually but when it offends a top player, who was our best player last season. Unbelievable.

LG

Scott Parker is the better player. Watch some of spurs games this season and he has been superb in all of them.

Danny

Dont let ya loyalty reflect on who ya pick, lucas, parker, newcastle paid 2.5 for tiote make ya own mind up

Scott Parker is good but Lucas is better it's just that Parker plays for Spurs and therefore the media are all over him like a rash

I personally love Song as a holding mid, top class.
KiwiRed

Essien?

Fellaini!!

Lucas
NZL - red

Sandro has everything will b twice the player parker is

I think statistics speak for themselves regardless of who you like to watch. Lucas.

Great to see Luis Suarez attending the reserves match the other day , after training with the first team. shows his attitude and enthusiasm for the club.

bbc football: liverpool manager kenny dalglish insists he is building for the long-term future at anfield and isolated results - good or bad - have no bearing on that plan. "we are looking to progress and build something here that is going to last for a long time and i think we are moving in the right direction," he said.

i think kenny is right. the talented young guys will pay you back 2/3 years. as if we wand build a big team we need some good home growing players.

Doing it the barca way, i guess. Just hoping Kenyy makes the team play like barca too, in the years to come.

formation for city
REINA

JOHNSON SKRTEL AGGER ENRIQUE

LUCAS

KUYT HENDERSON ADAM DOWNING

SUAREZ

Replace Kuyt for Bellamy and i would agree

Same team that started at chelsea we linked up really well all over the park we should take the game to city they myt be scoring goals for fun but have looked shaky at the back when teams have got at them eg wolves napoli an even spurs caused them problems wen they got thumped 5 2

belfast red adam

I would go:
REINA
JOHNSON SKRTEL AGGER ENRIQUE
BELLAMY LUCAS ADAM DOWNING
HENDERSON
SUAREZ
Would love to see Carroll start but I think 4 in midfield against City would be suicide, however we shall see how Kenny plays it. He may put 3 up front and go for the jugular. Who knows. We can beat them though.
KiwiRed

IMO city's weakness is their defence (not much of a one) so we should play carroll and suarez to terroise them airily and suarezly so my time would be

Reina
Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique
Henderson Lucas Adam
Suarez Carroll Downing/Kuyt/Bellamy?(donna)

^*team instead of time lol

Pepe
johnson, skrtel, agger, enrique
kuyt, lucas, adam, downing
suarez, carroll

So we need 3 points in 8 games to equal where we were at when Roy got the bullet. Massive improvement.

The Irish Rover

And its not as if that team last year could have had more points , we only got what we deserved . whereas this season we should have won a few of those draws

And the defeat against Stoke we should of won that game

I hope we get as much as possible because we will have to need some luck if we are going to get the kind of results we did in the second half of last season

Irish rover would you rather watch Liverpool under roy or Kenny . I am sorry but as a red since 1964 the wolves game last season at home when roy was manager was the worst performance I have seen a Liverpool team play in my time supporting them mate I may be biased but Kenny wins hands down and if the idiots who want instant sucsess who are haveing a go at kenny's management cant see what the man is trying to achieve at Liverpool Football Club for the long term then they should go to watch some other team

24 Nov 2011 17:03:54
I think we can get a real good result on sunday. We are the home team and need to take the game to them with a bit of caution. But our defending this season has been top notch and skrtel and agger have
formed a good partnership. With enrique and johnson at full back we can attack from both sides.
I think the team will be the same as sun i think.

Mighty reds

Am nufc fan,a tell you will get at least 6 good chances against that lot,yv just got to take them, good luck

Nice one Geordie

Good evening - Great result weekend the thing that pleased me the most was the team peformance everybody added to the win, and Suarez was a little quiet which clearly means we are not a 1 man team as has been suggested , delighted Bellamy got a start I do believe he works better with Suarez and (What was Johnson doing there = who cares what a GOAL ) Great performance LFC

Jim

Suarez quiet?

24 nov 2011 16:48:18
guys talking about buy this buy that have a look our reserves.

suso can be our right wing we are looking for. give him chance kenny even 10 minute also ok. and what a man luis suarez is after the training he went to watch reserve team play. nathan show some skill. we must use your young star 1 at a time.

www.rutube.ru/tracks/5037294.html?v=0cdfeb26ecc704f6d1a83a76824c0c8d

Suso, a loan spell and he can be very much ready to play. I think he needs a year or two to reach there. he's actually my most favourite lad in our academy. Hope, I can see us singing Suso song at Anfield soon. YNWA

Just looking through some of the rumours, or wish lists regarding strikers/midfielders, Kaka/Saldado etc.

I would think more down to earth, realistic young targets, possibly the likes of Junior Hoillet would be a target....

24 Nov 2011 16:01:47
Hi eds,
Just seen macca's post regarding steven gerrard being out until january. I was just wondering if its simply a case of the ankle infection taking such a long time to heel or have you heard of a further setback. many thanks

Jimmy Carter Was Pants {Ed002's Note - Assume the former.}

24 Nov 2011 15:44:57
I wish everyone wold give over about Eden Hazard, yes it would be amazing to see a star like that become world class at LFC but its just not going to happen, he will not want to come to us even if we are the top 4 at the end of the season. It is his ambition to go to Real/Barca etc.

FSG should just go all out and try and sign Honda, he would be a a great addition in midfield and sorry to all the die hard Stevie G fans but he is past it, he gave everything he has for LFC and I will always respect him for that but he doesn't have it anymore cause of all his injuries.

Another fine addition would be Lukas Podolski up front, but lets see if they would try to sign him because hes not under 23 and not English.

Con

I think it has been very clever of Neymar not to have gone to the Spanish clubs and signed for Santos again.

I dont understand why players go to Madrid/Barca to sit on the bench.

With Madrid's midfield, Nuri Sahin should have known he would hardly get a game there but he did go and is warming the bench now......

Same with Afelley.....Even as avg football fan I know that Afellay will never be a regular for them in the Barcelona's current playing style. How on earth his advisers never told him that?

Football is robbed of good players like them warming the benches.........

Same for Lukaku.....To pay that amount and play him in reserves....It doesnt add up.......

Thanks in advance eds!

24 Nov 2011 14:38:45
hi ed just a fort do you think torres will come back to liverpool ? {Ed001's Note - only for away games.}

Very well said ed001 :) guys there are so many young player who can ruls next 5 years of football. think about them Torres is gone case he is not 25 anymore.

24 Nov 2011 13:28:31
Radamel Falcao is the kind of player we should be looking at

If a-madrid paid 30million him they would want silly money

There are many available for cheap price, who can be better than Falcao.

24 Nov 2011 12:50:06
who is this Seyi Ojo we recentley signed. I've found out is that he's a 14 year old U-16 England international and plays midfield. Do you know any more than me?

Cheers.

He played in the victory shield he is a fast midfielder who played a free role in the under16's.All you need to know is 6 prem clubs 2 la liga clubs and B Munich were after this kid.

He had all the big boys after him and he chose to come to liverpool because one of our former coaches at mkdons spoke very highly still of us. He is very highly rated LeeWils

I think with Karl being the MK Dons boss had a hand in him choosing Liverpool.

KT!

And a good job by our manegment. well done sir's {Ed001's Note - someone suggest it being Robinson who swung it, but I would suggest Hamann had a much bigger role in it. He is very effusive in his praise of Liverpool, he apparently tells lots of stories about his time here and often talks about how great a club it is.}

24 Nov 2011 12:37:14
Hi good site follwing since last year. Living in Australia I don't have any rumours but I have a hunch that we may be looking at Whittingham from Cardiff. I am sure Bellamy will provide input about his old team mate.
Anythoughts

24 Nov 2011 12:20:53
Dortmund is out of CL can we go for kagawa now ?

Last year man utd send an enquary about sanji kagawa. dortmund say it will cost £20m. I wish Liverpool go for him as even a bit extra cost, but it will pay u back from jersy sales and japaness supporters visit anfield.

Adidas or warrior will be getting the money from the extra shirt sales and you couldn't fit another scouser in anfield let alone a load of Japanese.
Seems a decent player though.

MIKEY

No need of off-loading Kuyt in January, wait till Summer.
And the perfect replacement for Dirk Kuyt will be HUlk.
Pretty sure the Eds, will say ZERO chance for a deal to be struck.

Armando

{Ed001's Note - why even suggest it then?}

Bcaz unexpected things can happen.

Armando

Agreed with ur 2nd post armando.

Can anyone fathom out why the Premier League several years ago started putting the 'big' fixtures either several days before CL games or just after?

I cannot think why the Premier League would want to do this as it hinders the clubs going into Europe and can affect the quality of the Premier League game after Europe.

This year we actually benefit from not being in Europe i.e. on Sunday but it still baffles me. I notice La Liga do not pit Barca verses Madrid against each other, or AC or Inter during these times.

And whilst i do not want to see the likes of City, United, Chelsea cruising into the knock out phases, we need every club to get through the group stages.

Struggling to do this is ideal for LFC this season. However it would be no bad thing either for United, Chelsea and Citeh to be engaged on a Thursday night.

Mind you to start a really interesting thread. Ol' Woy didn't do too badly in Naples last year with a reserve side *ducks to avoid bricks*

Bob the Red (only joking about the last bit)

It's true about Woy though; we matched Napoli with a reserve side in 2 games last season. Fairly impressive now you think of it

So Bob does that make Hodgson better than Mancini? !

KT!

I think Roy has the ability but it just doesn't work out for him.

'Chris in Tamworth'

I was driving to work this morning listening to Talksport and Alan Brazil read out a text from Chris in Tamworth saying how the presenters should be embarrassed for the way they treated Wenger earlier in the season and saying he should be sacked.

Are you the same Chris in Tamworth or is there more than one Chris in Tamworth?

JRG

This has happend to me as well, but it was the afternoon show when i was at work, and porky parry said steve from his work has just rang in, but i didnt, as my boss wont let us use the phone. spooky

Yes it was me mate, not because I give a stuff about arsenal but it's always nice to show up the so called "experts" on Talksport when they talk crap, and they do that most days!

Chris in Tamworth

Wow...can I have your autograph mate! ; )

I can understand your reasons for doing it, they do talk the most awful rubbish on that programme. The morning show isn't too bad as I think Alan Brazil understands the pressures etc but the evening show with Adrian Durham and Darren Gough is just dire. A few weeks ago Adrian Durham said that if we lost to Everton then Kenny should resign! What an idiot.

They just say things to be controversial.

JRG

Good man, chris, did u do the same for raffa?
jeff

Chris in tamworth is a regular contributor to talk sport, i hear it read out alot.

Sorry pal I didn't support Rafa at the end because I thought his time was up, love the bloke but didn't have any faith left that he could deliver a title

With the loan window for Football League clubs closing today, are the club looking to loan out any players? I for one think loaning Coady out to the right club would really help his development.

City getting beaten on tuesday gives us as big an opportunity as we ae going to get to take advantage of a situation. They will now struggle to get through to knock out stages, this must be a massive knock on their confidence.
If I was kenny I would play this formation:

Reina
Carragher Skrtel Agger
Johnson Aurelio

Lucas Adam

Kuyt Bellamy

Suarez

This formation would win the game for me. Aurelio is more solid at the back than Enrique and does not go foraging forward, which is perfect, as Johnson would be able to fly up and down the right all day, without leaving us open at the back, as we would still have a back four even with Johnson attacking.
Kuyt, Suarez and Bellamy can all rotate and swap around, giving which ever defense and defensive midfielder City play a nightmare. Lucas and Adam are building a great partnership in the middle and if we are to win the match Luas has to be at the top of his game, and for me will need to put in a MoM performance if we are to get a result. He will need to do what no other team have done in the league yet, stop Silva.
The formation I have gone for above also makes it easier to go into the Chelsea game, naming more or less the same team, which is a must due to us not having much time to prepare a different team in 48 hours.
Also, for any betting individuals out there my two top bets of the week will be:
Lucas to get MoM against City, if we stand a chance of winning he will not be far off.
Manchester City to win the Europa league, decent odds at the moment as they are still in Champs, but I think they will drop down and then demolish the Europa league.
Any thoughts on any of the above anybody? Eds?

Anfield Andy {Ed001's Note - I really don't like the back 3, it leaves far too much space out wide for the opposition to attack.}

It didnt come out the way I had put it down, it would essentially be a back five, so no wide space left, it would just mean that Johnson could gun forward, and if need be Carragher could cover over.

Anfield Andy {Ed001's Note - I just don't like that system, it is a personal thing, but I am just happier with a back four and the players are used to it as well.}

Anfield andy stop frinkin gin it has ur thoughts all disilusioned aurelio is nowhere near the player enrique is on sunday enrique out powered the chelsea team in defence this is th first team not the reserves turkish

If I was to play that formation, change fabio with Enrique, Adam for Spearing and Kuyt for maxi. Let Johnson and Enrique bomb forward and Lucas and Spearing to cover When City counter.

I think Spearing when given the chance plays well but if you insist on Adam playing atleast start maxi and Enrique.

TIZER RED

Reina
Kelly- Skretel- Agger - Enrique
Johnson- Adam-Lucas-Maxi
Bellamy
Suarez
Bench :- Doni, Downing, Carra, carrol, Kuyt,Henderson, Aurelio

So, you would play Enrique, who takes time on the ball at the back, and have him and Johnson both bombing forward against probably the fastest attacking team in league?
Clever that, leave our CB's exposed, great idea. Aurelio is not as good at going forward as Enrique but that is the point.
Change Spearing for Adam, right, so where is our passing coming from?
Maxi for Kuyt, the point in having Kuyt is that all the front 3 can rotate and make the most of Man City's lacklustre defense, apart from Kompany.
Spearing is used for bite in midfield, but would leave us without a decent passer of the ball. I would use Maxi in the game, but later on, he does not have the pace to cause Richards enough trouble. Against another team I would use Enrique, when their attacking options arent as fast closing down, such as Chelsea, where you know Malouda, Lampard, Ramires, Mikel and co are not going to close you as fast as City's midfield. If Essien had played that would be different. His injury is massive and im sure Chelsea would be doing a lot better if he were fit.

Anfield Andy

Personally id like to see a 433 with Adam and Lucas holding and Henderson as the attacking mid. Play Carroll as the spearhead and Suarez and Kuyt off either side of him. Fluid and makes best use of the players available in their best positions.

Rewflo

Reina
Johnson-Skrtel-Agger-Enrique
Kuyt-Henderson-Lucas-Adam-Bellamy
Suarez

Doni-Carragher-Kelly-Spearing-Downing-Maxi-Carroll

Red Ollie

Or we could just play an unchanged team from Sunday?

Rafa's Purple Goatie

I wont name any personnel but the base post is quite correct in terms of tactics.

Some Observations :

1. City play two upfront.....so 3 CBs should work fine as it did at Stamford Bridge last season......

2. City love to use their fullbacks in attacking mode......Having 2 wing backs would make sense since Richards positional sense is not the best (but he makes it up with pace in EPL). Also Zabaleta played at Naples so Richards will be playing on Sunday....

3. Not sure we should man mark Silva. We should mark the zones he covers instead.....

So I would be tempted to play 3-4-2-1.

----CB1----CB2----CB3----
WB1---CDM1---CDM2---WB2
----AM1--------AM2-------
------------STR------------

CB = Center Back
WB = Wing Back
CDM = Central Defensive Midfielder
AM = Midfielder with attacking qualities
STR = Striker

I would prefer Henderson as one of the AM as he covers a lot of ground.....

But I trust King Kenny to come up with something different.....He just sees the game differently to us.........

LiverBird

Anfield Andy...

Why would that leave our cb exposed? In your suggested formation 5-2-2-1 we have 3 cb, rwb and a lwb. Lucas and Spearing are holding the mid field so if say Johnson lost the ball on the right wing in there half, Lucas would cover the RB position, which will leave 4 defenders and Spearing in front of them, and the same with Enrique, etc

This formation is defensive and could be risky as city are good going forward but used in the correct way could be effective.

I suggested the same formation the other day in "liverpool squads" section but with Spearing, Enrique and maxi. The pace of Bellamy could be effective in counter attack and isn't maxi quicker than Kuyt?

I also suggested that if Adam has to play then atleast play maxi as when he does play he seems to score goals. The same with Spearing, people say he isn't good enough but when he plays he puts in 100%.

My preferred formation as stated in my squads post was 4231 as this formation is balanced but I did use the 4-2-2-1 as a alternative option.

I'm not a football manager, I'm just saying who I'd play as I thought about that formation the other day (as posted)

Some may agree, some may disagree, but that's what I'd do in that formation and that's my opinion.

Hides and fans, question to ed001, do you think villa would be a good buy, because he is the finisher we are looking for, Kk did get Bellamy who is over 30. I was always a big fan of villa, plus he would probably enjoy playing with reina. Hibsylfc {Ed001's Note - no, I don't think he would fit in our current team, he is very similar to Suarez as a player. He is not a player that I think would adapt well either, not now he is the wrong side of 30 anyway. 3 years ago, yes, but not now.}

If Huntlaar keeps up his frm hes worth a shout....villa is class, i'd have him any day

Villa is very similar to Suarez? Ed001.... your credibility has been shot to pieces here.

A similar height and build maybe, but as a footballer they're very different!

A great finisher Villa, but his touch and hold up play are poor, Barca's moves so often break down when he gets possession - he also lacks pace and dribbling ability. His is very adept at wriggling to find a half-yard of space to get a shot off - but he doesn't take on defences like Suarez.

He is masterful at poaching goals though - That's what he's about. He's the one Barca player not afraid to shoot on sight. Man U know all about it.

I recall the last final between the two saying to my m8, 'Villa's been awful as usual', as another move broke down as a result of Villa's Heskey-like control..... 'I bet he'll score though' - I added.

This sums up Villa perfectly, it's what he does, but Barca know they can do better.
They want perfection.

So many times after watching LFC, we are left saying 'Suarez is a genius'. When do you watch Villa and say the same? A goalscoring genius perhaps, but Suarez is a rarity - Suarez can shred defences apart single-handedly. He's a force of nature.......

I wouldn't be surprised if Barca saw Suarez as the upgraded replacement they require. It was always gonna happen sooner or later....

I warned before we signed Suarez that he would be off to the likes of Real and Barca after a couple of seasons.

(At the time I argued with the fans here that Suarez was a genius.... as they whinged and moaned about the prospect of signing him - were you one of those ed001? I do remember one ed in particular was spouting a lot of nonsense at the time.)

I do agree with you ed001, that Villa is not what we need, but he's nothing like Suarez at all. How someone who professes to know the game/watch the game could make such a statement is beyond me.

Your opinions on potential signings/players will forever be blighted by this - and will now be taken with a pinch of salt.

Suarez has 4 years left on his contract - so hopefully he'll leave for Real or Barca later rather than sooner. Preferably never!

If we can keep improving and give Suarez the chance compete at the top, we could possibly keep him. Fingers crossed.

He's just so good.... and he's gonna get better! I'd nearly go so far as to say that I just can't seem to get enough of him...... really.

BJH YNWA (like Villa...... what?! maybe on FM or FIFA12. Not in real life.)

not a liverpool thing but why you think chelsea are playing so how can i put this? diabolical with exact same squad as last year(+the mercanry) but i miles better manager than ancelotti? has he lost the dressing room? is the squad full of players past it? or do you think its the tactics they using ova and ova and ova again?
jayblair89

I don't think the players respect AVB, given his age and lack of experience. The likes of Terry, Lampard, Drogba to me have far too much power in their dressing room. The real Torres won't be evident there until Drogba leaves. Also playing a high defensive line with John Terry in the team is suicide, it exposes him far too much - especially when he doesn't have a regular partner.

RedSG

Like your input RedSG and i don't know if the real torres will come back he knew he was a dynamo and his confidance will be absaloutly shot now that hes third in line after sturridge(who has got the pace torres had)and drogba who has never lost his touch or power on the ball...i do think your right with AVB thing though with him being so young hes like one of the boys and it doesnt work if your a manager they wont take you serious enough and true with the lamps n terry bit but there passionate about the club look at stevie and carra they know why they put on the shirt for pride not the wage packet at the end even know that what come second making a living but i think lamps and terry have forgotte why they put it on you know what i mean? there has been that many mercancaries walking through the door the club lost all tradition
jayblair89

Drogba is a shadow of his former self and is old - what does that say about torres

BEWARE OF THE DISAPPOINTING DRAWS at home especially to Norwich & Swansea, am sure they will come back to haunt us on our Road to quest for Champions League.

On Andy Carroll, anyone with me the idea that we should loan out Big Andy in January for the remainder of the season. It worked out for Mario Gomez & many players. If we can find some decent BPl club (Swansea, Wolves, Norwich etc with us paying part of his wages) who can guarantee him game time am sure he will do fine, work hard and improve.
So next season we 'll see Andy Carroll rampaging & bullying the BPL defenses. Mean while we should try to bring in another striker in January, someone who can definitely score goals.

Armando

Nah i reckon he stays here and works on fitness and strength at another club he wont be doing the same amount and when he come back he will as easy to get of the ball as he is now
jayblair89

Loaning him out would batter his confidence, from £35m striker to being loaned out? You won't see Chelsea loaning out Torres..

RedSG

He shouldnt lose too much confidence, he was playin championship football not long ago, should understand. torres made the worst decision of his life and he knows it. chelsea will soon be rid of him, i reckon he'll go back to aletico for 4 mil

No to loaning him out! yes to selling him!

Morning All

Eds any chance of Danny from Zenit in jan or the summer. Looks like a very good player and it seems like he carries the zenit team.

Cheers in advance

Brisc93 {Ed002's Note - Seems unlikely - just throwing up random names is never going to get a positive answer.}

Wow anyone would think he played last night and the commentator just kept going on and on about his £20M odd price tag.......wait a minute

Hey ed, its gr8 to see the manchester clubs n chelski strugglin in the ucl. Im pretty sure that even with our current squad, we cud have done a better job. I have to say hats off to arsenal for the way they have pulled themselves up. If man utd or chelski fail to get past the group stage, will uefa reduce the number of teams in the bpl qualifyin for the ucl next season?

Do we really need a backup striker? I think that Andy Carroll should be our backup striker and Craig Bellamy be our number 1 partner for Luis. Them two, and maxi, seem to have a real understanding of each other. Lucas and Adam also do. The only thing I think we need to change is another creative mind in there. Who is on the cards who would suit these needs eds or anybody?

RUMOUR SITE?
when i first started reading this site it was posts from fans who heard a little whisper or two and come on here to share it with us redmen, now its just what are the chance of this or that? is every liverpool fan 8 years old or are you all thick, the eds on here must have the patience of a saint answering the exact same question 50 or so times a day, its proper boring, we all wish for the best players, BUT its our rumour site! not a question and answer site, also everyone who reads this site read every article connected to the club so pasting articles from papers is old hat as well come on lads we are supposed to be the original knowledgeable football fans, not brain dead gobsh@tes bob paisleys skids

I totally agree with your remarks.I am amazed at the number of people who want to know who we will sign in the Jan window, or even the following window in Summer. It seems to me that a lot of socalled fans are playing a strange version of Fantasy Football.Oh for the days when the first inkling we had of a new player was when it was printed in the Liverpool Echo. How the Editors stay sane and reasonable is a wonder to me - I would feel like throttling a lot of people who lodge their rumours and/or banter. Stay sane and focussed Editors...we need you all alert and happy. Cheers.Redhawk.
