Another dive - penalty given - goal scored! That Suarez really is a cheat! Sorry, what did you say - it wasn't Suarez - it was Ridgewell of West Brom! As linaker said "If that had been Suarez we would have been up in arms" As it was Ridgewell it was quite funny really and very clever. End of story - no punishment or anything - it's really sickening, especially when we all know that Suarez has had FOUR legitimate claims for penalties this season. It really is time that the EPL took action when it has been proved to be CHEATING. No chance however.
Ben Terug

I am with you that it is a joke, suarez has been manhandled in the box with nothing given. however he hasn't helped himself. he needs to go the rest of the season without diving and then hopefully the decisions will come.
derryred

What pissed me off was Owen only arguing to why he could see the ref gave it. Totally failing to mention that Ridgewell dived. Boring little rat with his emotionless, boring, monotone voice.
JohnBoy

You might think him boring with a monotone voice - but goals scored, games played - influence in winning trophies - he is a Liverpool Legend.

Move on and leave the lad alone, supporters who criticise ex players amuse me - you say Torres is a Judas, Mascherano similar, Owen a traitor ( he wanted to come back but RM's asking price was too much ), but then you revere other players who have left Rushie ( who did come back ) left us when he was in his prime, Fowler went, Beardsley went across the park and numerous others.

What do so called supporters say about McManaman who let his contract run down and went for free, I see that being worse than leaving for an estimated £11 million.

John B

Owen gets stick not just for leaving but the manner in which he left, he was running his contract down so he could leave for free and rafa was right to get the paltry 8 mil we got. Then after spending a few years on subs benches and treatment tables he wanted to stroll back into our first team?

Again rafa was right to say no since Owen had not wanted to do it to help Liverpool but rather to try get back into the England team. Then he went and joined the worst possible team and went to united?

I don't have animosity toward any player but I can completely understand why fans do. He left when Liverpool really needed him. Rush cared and still does, Fowler cares Alonso cares, they all have respect for Liverpool. Owen hasn't shown any of that.

Nevada

I agree John B, Owen was instrumental in the Liverpool side back when, but he did cause a bit of grief with Fowler, apparently laying down an ultimatum either ''Fowler goes, or he does''.

Also saying he'd stay if the club signed Rafa Benitez as manager, and when the club signed Rafa Benitez he immediately did a runner. Then we won the Champions League and Owen got dumped onto Newcastle after Real didn't want him.

He ended up at United, which isn't where ex-Liverpool players should go and now he's on the Stoke medical bench, or will be soon enough.

Owen burnt his bridges at Anfield i believe. Fowler went for £14 million to Leeds and came back a few years afterwards, he was a wide boy but he scored sensational goals and we loved him for it, but he never held the club over a barrel, Owen did and many fans know it and still dislike him for abusing his short lived power.

Fowler actually loves Liverpool, Owen has more of the Kevin Keegan attitude about things, just my opinions .

Surely the BBC woulldn't have a bias towards manutd??
Match of the Day highlights they didn't show the scuffle between Shaun Derry and Ashley Young when Young clearly dived in the penalty area. Referee had to calm it down and bring the two captains together.
But the BBC and the panel of so called pundits never even mentioned it?
kidmillions

It is because Fergie won't speak to them if he gets upset.
Scouse_Pride

True and Suarez only has to fart and theres calls for smell and co2 detectors.Especially by that monkey hanging t at Jeff Stelling

Sorry lad i wasn't paying attention, i just couldn't take my eyes off owens moustache.

Could someone help me out with tomas ince by comparing him to any of our players?!.....3ds,you're not left out

Haven't watched him since he left us last season ,but similar to his dad but more goals ,good energy but was a little light weight for a box to box midfielder .that aside very good potential.

Yeah, he's crap like downing & cole, big time charlie like his dad, he wasn't any good first time round........ Jayspearings ghost

You're online now. Look on YouTube or something. Lazy

Ince has performed quite well so far this season. He's got a bag full of tricks, perhaps though, he does try and over-complicate things sometimes, has natural pace and a great shot. The main aspect of Ince's game, well for me anyway is his natural instinct to attack and drive forward. I'd say at this point of the season he's been Blackpool's player of the season.

For personal development, i do feel that another season in the Championship would be in the best interests of Ince in the long term. He's still learning the game, and is a guaranteed start for Blackpool, who do try and play to his strengths.

They've erected a statue of SAF outside Old Trafford.
Sculptor got wrong though - he's not pointing at his watch.
DJP

It'll keep the pigeons happy:)
kidmillions

He hasnt got a referee with him

I heard they smashed a bottle of champagne against it like a new ship and the statue just sucked it all up.

MIKEY

Looks more like Old whiskey nose than Greame poll .. .. Oh I'm sorry thought the sculptor was for a united legend

The media have it wrong. That's a statue of Howard Webb

Why is ferguson frozen outside old tractor, he looks a bit different has he done something with his nose.

Lil Red

The referee is in his pocket

Hi eds . We all know that this season was going to be hard with the start we had but I said at the start I would be happy with 8th and a good run in Europe and a cup but to see sterling suso wisdom and others blooded into our first team which has happened . I really believe we have the makings of a great team that can push for honours in the next year or so . BR is the man to take us forward . We have got our best players tied down to new contracts young players who we hope to sign contracts the blend of youth and expierience is the best in the league IMO and with the thought of new signings coming soon I am very optimistic . love Liverpool .

good day again for liverpool with most teams droping points above us 4th place is real chance of happing this year if we get a run going west brom will not keep it up

I never thought Newcastle would keep it up all season last year either, but they did. Steve Clarke has got them playing well. Saying that, I hope you're right and they stutter a bit. Have to say I'm glad to see a bit of that smirk wiped off Pardew's face as well. I think he was believing his own hype a bit too much!
It is looking like top 4 is a possibility it is there to be lost. Good luck for tomorrow, 2-0 win to us. Suarez to turn Williams inside out!

Nick

If we dont get top 4 i wud like to see west brom get 4th over the others :)

I didnt see the u21 game yesterday. how did lucus do?

He looked very sharp and dominated midfield , should be ok for next saturday

I didnt see all of it but he was a beast in defence breaking up play and lots of interceptions. showed what we have been missing. look forward to seeing allen in his natural position.

A decent set of results for us today with Arsenal, Everton and Fulham all dropping points. Ideally Spurs and West Ham draw tomorrow whilst we pick up 3 points and things are taking shape. I don't want to look to far ahead, however, looking at our next 6 games the table might be very interesting come Christmas time. It's time to be positive, get behind the club, with a little bit of luck, a couple of new faces in January and 2013 might be exciting!! Thanks,GP29.

hai ED great site and excellent work.

I Want you to have a say on ma post.

I am a liverpool fan and a red for life. and I know its early in the league with just 13 games over so far,
But If swansea or everton or WBA finish above us and we still say we are in transition, Thats horrible of an excuse.
I mean WBA played great today. they dont have world class stars over there.
Y are we so poor this year yet again..
If its strikers availability?

Which world class striker does WBA, swansea or Everton have that we are crying to get? that will push us above them?

YNWA

They might not be world class but they are playing like it. long wba, michu swansea , fallani everton.
(spelling)

KUMBER

We have the best striker out of the teams you mentioned, however he is our only one and the other teams all have several players chipping in with goals.
that's the difference, we need a few of our players to score a few more and get a new striker in.

MIKEY

Spot on YNWA. Them three teams should not be above us. End of story.
Why does Rodgers require 'rebuilding' time yet Laudrup and especially Clarke have hit the ground running. Both of them managers did not have money to spend in the summer and did not have great squads to work with. There are too many excuses as to why Liverpool have not performed but the performance of WBA so far this season blows the 'give the new manager time' argument and 'we have had a tough start in terms of fixtures' argument right out of the water.
Our position in the table is a disgrace considering that our team includes players such as Gerrard, Suarez, Agger, Reina, etc.

Excellent reply mate...
and we fans are worried about torres form, benitez job, chelsea money, city misses, UTD referee...
thats joke..we are in serious trouble...
I believe and am sure..the differnce between two clubs are not the style of play, not the trophies won, not the money they have, and not the stars around...its just the fans...
we are so generous that we have excuse for our stuppid mistakes..
rebuilding happens...chelsea is in transition..
just an year...they sold the aeging and just replaced with the young..and results started from the day one..
With deep regrets and pain...we have to admit we are poor from 3 seaosn..
can you believe over 80 games...
cant blame the owners...never ever..
need to beat swansea tom..and thats the bottom line...
cant give another excuse..they are good at home, they have this..that.
in paper we are a pretty excellent side...
but in reality..we are no where near Top 4.

People says we will be competing for Top 4 in coming years...
reality..no chance...
there are excellent 7 teams in the league who are miles ahead us...
how can we compete?
We say money dont buy scussess..
In reality we have spent over 120 mill in 2 seaosn..and we havent even reached CL..
we dont have right to criticize city or chelsea...

Need a win tom..and thats it..by hook or crook..
You play defence, attack, anything...
Results and points matters..

YNWA

Too the nameless two negative posters/trolls, a win tonight and a draw in the spurs vs west ham game and we will go 8th and a win off Everton in 5th. We are building ok in my eyes. Lets have a look come January and see how far we can go. Top 4, unlikely but possible. This is one of the tighest years I can remember. If you can get on a bit of a run, you can fly up the ladder. We are only just getting started. No excuses, just the reality.

Andy K

To the above poster, Clarke an laudrup aren't working under the same pressure as Rodgers, unless of course you think managing Liverpool is just as easy as west brom and Swansea?

Nevada

How ridiculous its..wen someone criticize..you or speak a truth...u become.negative moaners...
ok..for the sake of you...lets defend our league position..
you have wishful list, come tom, we win, other draw, some slip up. we get penalty..
all this to reach Top 4.
still pretending how good we are doing..

Yeah...clarke and laudrap doesnt get to spend 100 mill dont they??
pls..no more excuses mate...just and just accept..we were poor this season..
simple....

Ye but Swansea and WBA will have there couple of good seasons then start the slide to league 1. It's there place in the world, ours is a proper rebuilding job, rebuilding the empire ready to rule again.

Nevada, you are right about Clarke ans Laudrup not working under the same pressure as Brendan but he does have a lot more resources in playing staff and quality. You only have to look at the comparrison in spending power.

The Irish Rover

Clarke and laudrup dont get to spend a 100 million, please tell me when rodgers did then, to the other poster, your definition of the truth is completely different to mine, i mean yes liverpool have had a poor start but at least us majority of fans feel and see something big is gonna happen but all you and the other person has done is criticise everything, so why dont u pop along back on to your own clubs site or is that to boring for you guys

24 Nov 2012 19:23:10
I think we can achieve top 4 arsenal everton an tottenham, are dropping points everywhere.... We've had the hardest start of any team in the league, we're putting consistent performances together now... Have faith don't let our bad start cloud your vision...

YNWA

And the tooth fairy is flying over hesd with the pink elephant

It's not impossible mate.
But I wouldn't put money on it.
Top 4 next year is a very real possibility though.

MIKEY

Good optimism, but why is top 4 on for next year, the owners might continue to sell players and not invest in the squad, BR is struggling to field teams with players in there correct positions, we have only one goal threat.

Not being funny but come next season we could well be weaker than we are now if we don't get into Europe, players will want to leave not stay.

Glad to see the everton bubble starting to burst, they always get carried away after a few good results. 5 draws in 7 games has pulled them back and fixed their unrealistic expectations.

It's not optimism mate. Borini and Lucas coming back will make a huge difference, we would effectively be doubling our strikers, have a much needed DM in the team, Allen will be back in his best position.
That's all without bringing in anybody.
I really can't see the owners selling anybody important in the summer, just like last summer.
None of the players we sold would be setting the premiership alight right now would they.

MIKEY

Top 4 next year..someone said this..
can u brief me..
we will be adding max 2 players in summer..
and sure both wont be a MESSI or Ronaldo..who can change a game by their own..
how can you say we might reach top 4 next season. if we couldnt finish 5th this year..?

eds,Macca
who are oour genuine january targets? all sorts of big and small names all reported to be targets, i know its not easy to judge this early but atleast most likely? great site

My sources have told me we are going to "break the bank" for the following:
ST- 45m+200k/week for cavani
Winger- 40m+ 185k/week for lavezzi
Then we are going to buy the whole real Madrid football club and change it to "Liverpool feeding club".
Don't shoot the messenger.

Any truth in this eds. {Ed002's Note - Some is of course true - but much is speculation from blogs etc..}

Hi ed,
why is there nothing on this post.
thanks. {Ed002's Note - Because it was not important.}

Thank God for that. I thought I'd missed something.

Its the stuff about why torres left probably

GuvtOB

24 Nov 2012 17:34:22
If cole and downing both left it would free up wages for cavani

-pgilgog

Even though I would love cavani, I really doubt we will sign him

RedSpud

Why on Earth woud Cavani come to Liverpool. You're deluded.

Even if we could pay Cavani's wages

We could not afford his transfer fee

Why on earth would Suarez come to Liverpool..... ohhh wait a minute!
We are a massive world wide club and the proof of that is we get silly little trolls like the 3rd poster who come on here to wind us up.... We would not be a big club if we did not have trolls all over our banter page!! Your troll comments are proof of the size of our club..... I find that ironic.
jonnybarnes89-90

A bit harsh on poster 3. he is a realest, think about it your a forien player wanted by all the italain top sides inter,ac,juve, napoili and roma. who would you sign for you do not have any loyalty's to any of them, you pick the best option for you, you look for c/l chance to win the league and yes money is a big part to most players, and at the moment we are roma would that be your first choice. the one thing that would be in our favour is we have suarez. also who else went in for luis when he sign for us. the pull for suarez was torres, gerrard, pepe, agger, johnson.

KUMBER

24 Nov 2012 17:33:22
Just wanted to say that I am ecstatic for lucas coming back. He is the key that we are missing, sitting in front of the back 4. I think that we should not judge Rodgers good or bad until the end of the season, alot can happen in the next 28 games. Hopefully 1 or 2 additions in January with Borini coming back as a new sighing, kid is 21. I guarantee he will come good, just like Lucas did. I hope Suarez teaches Williams a lesson this weekend. Those comments were totally unprofessional and uncalled for.
Also nice to see Macca is back, we've missed him.
Andrew

Ecstatic? Why? Are you awaiting the usual 10-15 goals that Lucas chips in every year with or them defence splitting passes?

But, i hear you shout, he was our player of the year two season ago wasn't he? Exactly, when we finished 7th. He would not be player of the year for a title winning team.

When he got injured last year we fell apart though didn't we? No. We won the League Cup and reached the FA Cup final.

Lucas is an average squad player.

To the 2nd Poster, what Lucas does is allows other players in midfield to push on further and support the attack as they are confident that the backline has additional cover. This will allow Allen to play his natural position. If the forward line is better supported and more people in the box, we should score more goals. You see, its easy to understand if you think about the team as a whole. I knew you could do it. Well done son.

Andy K

When Lucas plays we concede less, he also has the highest successful tackles in the Prem when he's playing.

Our problem is holding a lead and not conceding recently, Lucas will help that.

Nevada

Someone said..lucas is an average player???
is that the reason arsene wenger tried to sign him for 20 mill last season..to add him to compete for title..
get a grippppppp

Hi Eds,

I am an LFC supporter but am ashamed to be associated with many on this site.

Bunch of moaners who cant see beyond their own noses.

Bunch of Roman Abromaviches. Get rid of a manager after 3 months.

Rodgers will prove all you persons wrong. Gaurenteed.

Sullie123

What about FSG? Sack Hodgson, Appoint Kenny and Clarke, get rid of Kenny and Clarke. Appoint Commoli get rid of Commoli. Buy in Adam, Carroll etc then try and ship em all out! PR is a joke so they appoint Jen Chang then Jen makes PR gaff and is out the door! STOP complaining about fans who have concerns, our start has been terrible and our club is weaker. By the logic of blind support Roy should be gaffer and we should be defending Hicks and Gillete.

Well said we the moaners are always there because we care about the club and we opine because most of us have been there for life and we still have shanklys boys going to the game ex boys pen lads who have seen all the good players and we know good from bad so we do not mean to slate players but we do not want to accept the type of players we have been signing look at villa they won the european cup and never moved on they now have a team of nobodies look at the team they put out today against the gooners , we do not want to be like villa. red mick tag ynwa

Red mick - 'we the moaners are always there because we care etc etc' the biggest load of rubbish on the site today.
You are a waste of space - the club and the site would be better off without you. Goodbye

Puzzled

I agreed with Puzzled in regards to the negativety being redundant however not so much the 'goodbye' portion. We are all entitled to our opinions. The Villa comparrisons are somewhat silly or else you could to compare Ipswich and Forrest, although I understand the sentiment. For someone who has been around for a while, red mick, I would have thought that you could see that the club is setting itself up to avoid the mistakes of the past and I believe they are doing that well. Lets just watch the next couple of weeks that could be key for the club, a few wins on the trot in the league and a win in Italy and all of a sudden the picture of our season looks very promising, and surely you can see that the picture of seasons beyond is even more promising.

Andy K

Puzzled take a note of andy k as he says we all have different ways of looking at things i see what i see your interpretation is different but i love lfc from a big waste of space red mick t ynwa

Andy k i mentioned villa because they to are owned by a us business man but i do understand your point of view and your optimism and hope your view is the right one. red mick tag ynwa

Puzzled i now know that you are br good luck but not goodbye from red mick tag

24 Nov 2012 17:27:15
If we wasnt robbed vs everton we'd be above tottenham right now knowing our next game could take us above arsenal (pending villa match) an only 4 points off top 4

Amazing how 1 bad call from a poor linesman can change everything

Always if..but we didnt. We are nearly there..kls

Same old mate. Then again, if we'd won every game this season we'd be top of the league!

One other point mate ,I am a liverpool fan but what about the other teams they've had some shocking decisions as well .so it about right the league will never lie mate

To last repy its not about if we scored because we did, this is about being robbed in that game so not the same thing

Ref to the last post ,Everton had a perfectly good goal taken off them earlier in the season ,for example

The table does lie! Every team does get decisions for and against them yes! But with us it takes the p*ss!

24 Nov 2012 17:07:28
Man united, everton and spurs have all conceded more goals than us so far this year.
Just saying.

MIKEY

Unfortunately, scored more too!

davethebutcher

Ah yes but they score more!

Yes cos they all have more than one striker.
Second half of the season is going to be interesting with a new striker, plus borini and Lucas coming back.

MIKEY

Fairplay MIKEY for trying to be positive!

I am not an anti rodgers by any means. Though u look at harry redknapp and u think every single team he has wemt to he has absolutly transformed he got tottenham up there from the time they were on free fall he is an outstanding manager a nanager id love at liverpool obe day

If by Transformed you mean bankrupted and ruined then I agree. Only spurs seem to have escaped so far. Maybe they sacked him in time.

MIKEY

Harry Redknapp !! Haha, that is brilliant. Harry 'triffic' Redknapp. Thanks for the laugh.

What club has Harry bankrupted Mikey?

The Irish Rover

Luvly jubbly! Harry could bring his dog it's got a few quid!
Paisley's genius

Portsmouth are still paying the price. tottenham are lucky they have levey holding the purse strings, other wise carroll would be at spurs.

KUMBER

Kumber. I suggest you look at Harry's transfer dealings at Portsmouth. The players he purchased and then were sold for good profit, Glen Johnson, Diarra, Muntari, Defoe to name a few.

The Irish Rover {Ed002's Note - They were purchased but not all paid for. The final installments owed on Glen Johnson were paid by Liverpool to Chelsea.}

Portsmouth are not doing too great Irish rover.

MIKEY

HA.

mr rover if harrys dealings were so good then why did pompy go belly up before getting relegated from the prem. because they had under performing players on high wages. kanu, ben haim.

i do think he is a good manager but like others should not have total control like o'leary at leeds, good manager but when its not your money you can take more risks.

question for eds has o'leary managed since leeds and was there a director of football there at the time?

KUMBER {Ed002's Note - Aston Villa - I don't recall about a DoF.}

Granted Ed, but this was not down to Redknapp. Plenty of the players he brought in were sold on with good profit. People want to blame him for Portsmouth demise. Do you?

The Irish Rover {Ed002's Note - I don't.}

Thankyou ed. Another myth busted.

The Irish Rover

Southampton also went into administration shortly after Harry left! And didn't he leave spurs partly because they wouldn't finance him like he wanted? Obv, Harry can't be blamed totally as its the board/directors should be controlling that!

JammyRed

Jammyred
Redknapp left Southampton in 2006 after not very long at the club.Southampton went into administration in 2009. Nearly 3 years later. Stop trying to lay every clubs problems at Redknapp's door. Its just nonsense.

The Irish Rover

He may not have bankrupted southhampton Irish Rover but There's no doubt they were in a less competitive position when he left than when he started, the same could be said of portsmouth. His time at the end with spurs was also poor and had it not been for their good start to season would likely have finished in bottom half.

Nonsense unamed poster. But for unusal circumstances Spurs would have been in the Chsmpions League this year. They werent in it the year before.

The Irish Rover

24 Nov 2012 15:43:36
Hope Reds arent too affected by nature of last gasp result other night.Predominately a different team. Most've game. And use Ashley Williams disgraceful comments and attitude as right kindve motivayion to shove down his and Swanseas throat! And that in particular means the right way from Suarez who will be targeted(per norm)but in particular by there fans and players. He mustnt over react

24 Nov 2012 15:09:14
Just seen Brendan Rodgers has managed in just 174 games as a mananger. Surprised me still has a lot to learn himself but still think given time he will come good

Hes definitely showing good signs.

I think in January and the summer transfer windows he would of had 3 transfer windows to get the types of players who can play his style of football it's unfair to judge him till end of next season he's come in and seen most players aren't capable or fit to be a Liverpool player.

One thing BR does need to learn quickly is how to close out games, especially Euro matches. That was very gallant to carry on attacking the other night but not great European tactics. Park the bus when we need to, if that's what is required to progress in a competition. Play expansive in the next round!
ND

Now hold on i am with rodgers in thinking that you just can't sit back and admire your work, in the 2009 season we did that too often and it ended up biting us in the a**e. How often did we go 1-0 up and then draw that year? the best teams are ruthless

Steve Clarke's team moves above Chelsea into third. 26 points in 13 games. They are looking impressive. Confident, hardworking, hungry. No stars and it doesn't matter. Well done to our former assistant coach. He said they were aiming for survival, and that might be assured by xmas.

Yeah well done to them. gutting to see considering where we are. but i live in hope we can get back there too!

Looks like Kenny and Steve Clarke should have swapped jobs when they were with us!

redmersey

Yet we need a season of transition?

The difference being he took over a team already doing well, were hard to beat and he has pretty much kept the same style & system.
BR took over a team on the way down and has to stop that before turning it around. All the while being hampered by the spending of the previous management setup, changing the style of play, introducing so many youngsters into the first team and having to deal with a crowd that constantly gets 'out-sung' by the away support at Anfield.
FFS get behind BR and the team 100% and actually give them some confidence and encouragement to play.

And who did Clark take over from only The H man so less of that taking over a team on the way up. Daglish or whoever you want to blame for the 80m ish of rubbishe bought for the team on the way down which Rodgers is now sorting out and which I believe he is.
A win tomorrow and a win/draw in next match we are up there competing for 4th and hopefully with money forthcoming for transfers in new year you never know and a bit of luck hopefully some ref decisions going our way to weigh some of the dubious ones that have gone against us

24 Nov 2012 19:06:59
Did anyone think Steve Clark would've done this well? Honestly? Anyone?

Didn't think so. Clark's done a great job, and all the best to him, but there was nothing to suggest he'd be the right man to take over here during the summer. If he'd been appointed instead of Rodgers, most people on here would've hammered FSG for it, probably going as far as to suggest that they couldn't afford to get a 'real' manager so just promoted the #2 instead. And you all know it.

- Something Red -

Clarke took over a team doing well! Really? Where did West brom finish last year? Top 4?

WBA Six shots on target 4 goals

24 Nov 2012 14:29:46
People say you need Champions League football to attract the best players in Europe, then again we managed to sign 'El Pistolero' without CL... just saying it's not impossible to sign a world beater if your not up there with Europes Elite.

AsianRed

But we dont have the money for these players

We managed to sign him because he wanted to leave and only had two options, and we don't know how serious spurs were about it. Most teams were scared off by his very patchy disciplinary record and habit for forcing transfers when he feels like leaving. It wasn't our amazing history that beat off great European competition for him.

We were simply the better of two options.

why wasnt steve clark considered for the lfc job.seems to me hes doing a fab job at westbrom {Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

i carnt understand why he was over looked.he has westbrom playing out there skins. there top 4 already and a win today will take them 2nd.

He left out of of respect for Kenny, also I think Brendan wanted his own assistant. He was never going to stay.

I agree. He's doing a fantastic job at West Brom.

Why would LFC want a manger that has an organised defence and good fast attacking play . Don't you no anything football is about passing the ball for 90 minutes with two shoots on target and 1 going in if lucky .fsg have been in this industry for many year .

No doubt he has done a fantastic job made up for him but nobody could of anticipated the start he's had. Rodgers was a big gamble but Clarke would of been more so given he had no managerial experience but he's proving what a good manager he is so far still early days for him though

Hindsight is a beautiful thing.

Yes mate we would all be millionaires.

Reusch

I'm actually surprised no one took a gamble on him earlier. He has a fantastic track record and people always talk great things about him.

Clarke did not leave

Henry sacked him

Rodgers wanted whats his name pascoe?

24 Nov 2012 19:14:11
In Ireland we say hindsight is a gobrubbishes foresight, how many of you bet the house on WBA finishing above us this year? ...

Fsg could have givern him a chance being his pedigree with morihnio.bet there kicking them selves now

Half lfc related.
Fergie has a pop at rafa when he is only hours into the job .
Rafa when asked by the Sunday papers who is the best ever premier league manager replies." aesene wenger "
Good man rafa .
Marker

Good man Rafa, clearly you can't count either. 12 Premier League titles is hard to compete with.

In what universe is the comment related to LFC?

Arsen wenger has had peanuts to spend in transfers and wages compared to fergie. Before the sugar daddies became an issue in this game wenger went and built a team that went 49 games unbeaten. he has allowed lots of players to develope and if it weren't for the big spenders coming in and hijacking his best player every season then he would have won another few titles with arsenal, and he does it the right way. Arsenal play great football, he produces stars rather than buys them and brings through youth. shame he can't buy decent cb's though.

hi guys,
just seen on facebook someone has posted a page from instagram that states liverpool have completed a deal for edinson cavani, his agent says he chose liverpool due to the clubs heriyage and his fellow countrymen who are already at our beloved club. Cant see this being true could you please confirm either way.
cheers
ps love the site {Ed002's Note - See numerous other answers please.}

24 Nov 2012 10:40:48
I know that you have denied anything could happen with Cavani to Liverpool. However, rumours have popped up (on the liverpool website) that he wants to speak to us and Arsenal.

Has anything changed {Ed002's Note - No, nothing has changed. It is untrue.}

24 Nov 2012 10:18:48
Whats with all these 'smoke screens'? New way to sign players on the sly?

I think so....I doubt all the work dave fallows has been doing has restricted our options to Walcott and Sturridge

Hi all
Just wondering, who is Liverpool's standard penalty taker at the moment? Any other day of the week and I would say Suarez, but he missed his last two if I'm correct.

HazRed

24 Nov 2012 13:57:07
I would assume Gerrard. Why would it be anyone else?

I don't want Suarez anywhere near penalties, tbh. Any I've seen him take, he messes about with his run up and tries to be too clever about it instead of just hitting the thing.

- Something Red -

Gerrard when hes playing.

Only seen him playing for england lately

Gerrard 100% of the time. Second choice for me would have to be Shelvey. Suarez doesn't like simple goals (which explains why he misses alot of sitters). He likes the dramatic.

Stevie, Shelvey, Jonno, Dagger.
ND

We haven't been given a penalty for so long it's hard to remember

As if we'll get a penalty.
derryred

If he's on the pitch then I'd say carra. You might laugh but he rarely misses and is a good taker.

If he's not on pitch then gerrard. Penalties aren't about skill or accuracy but the ability to handle pressure.

you guys should read the post on today about how huntelaar would turn out better than van persie in the premier league and how not to forget that these guys scored 82 goals in 60 games playing with each other at ajax to me this is a no brainer somebody we know foils suarez with ease theres more chance of reaping benefits than than money wasted at 5m-6m fee half of borini it seems crazy, have a look at stats it is food for thought.

Sorry, but what sort of persons do we get on this page?

Borini is a young fellah who has hardly played, when he has played he has been played out of position, and has been injured for the past two months, yet these people persist in writing him off.

He has years left at Anfield, he's only just arrived.

The same could happen to Huntelaar - Are you gonna write him off after three months too??

Really annoying.

When are we going to be linked with Europes elite players. Will be constantly be linked with obscure players from small clubs. This is like Hicks and Gillett all over again.

From small acorns do mighty oak trees grow

When Brendan came in and began implementing a new style of play, he drew up a shortlist of players you'd heard of, didn't he? Our scouts don't just watch a website. They look for talented players regardless of league or club.

LA

In all due respect , hick and Gillet didn't shy out off transfers ,they use the club against the transactions but did compete with big boys .so ask yourself do you want a club ,or big linked with big names . If you want both your at the wrong club mate

Hey Eds,

What happened to the Alex Inglethorpe, Tottenham reserve manager, rumor floating around? IIRC Tony Barrett and The Guardian both ran stories about it, stating Borrell would move upstairs into a technical role for the youth, while Inglethorpe would take over as the reserve manager.

Was there any truth to the rumor and if so, what's the reason for the delayed confirmation? {Ed002's Note - Whether or not there is truth to the rumour I don't know, but he remains at Spurs at the moment.}

Hi eds,

Any idea when work will start on developing anfield? And do you think we could sell naming rights to help fund the expansion. Surely the owners are aware how much Arsenal get.

Thanks

Red raj {Ed002's Note - There is a chance it will begin next summer, if not the summer after. I understand the plan right now is not to sell naming rights.}

Seems like commercial madness not to sell naming rights. Although I would be delighted with 'Anfield', I am sure that the owners would appreciate an extra 10 million a year or so - I know the manager would!

Nick

Naming rights for a new stadium , fair enough. renaming anfield after some corporate b*******, i dont think so.

I don't understand why we don't sell naming rights to the stands instead of the ground, except kop of course. Surely someone would be interested and would many fans be bothered about the other stands being renamed?

Nevada

If we could get some coin to pay for the redeveopment and therefore pay off sooner and reap the benefits sooner, do you think it is worth while? Would it be less Anfield too you if it was called something else for the contracted period? Would it lose its history? I am not sure on the answer and have mixed feelings however one way or the other, it will always been Anfield to me but I have only been there a couple of times as I live on the otherside of the planet. No matter what transient sponsor, St James will always be St James, why would Anfield be any different?

Hey eds an felllow reds

any truth in this supposed 'quote' from Cavani's agent?

Thanks
LFC Phil {Ed002's Note - No Phil.}

Eds .is this the agent trying to push a move? {Ed002's Note - No, the agent has not said anything of the sort.}

With rumours flying about that a former Liverpool star will return all the attention seems to be focused on Fernando Torres' return to Anfield but the player most likely to return after his disappointing first spell at the club is Ryan Babel. He is thought to be in talks with Brendan Rodgers over a possible move as Rodgers see's him as a player that would fit his style and philosophy perfectly. Ryan is thought to be hopeful of a return to Liverpool after he was quoted saying 'Liverpool is a place that compares to no other city on the planet.' 25 year old Babel has had a very good run of form for his current club, Ajax but the move to Liverpool is understood to be 'unmissable' by the Dutchman. Brendan Rodgers is unable to promise the 25 year old a permanent starting XI place due to the current form of 17 year old Raheem Sterling but the place will be up for contention according to Rodgers if the 25 year old was willing to put pen to paper for a second time with the 5 time European Champions. (Typo was made in the previous piece of text emailed to me by my mole.)

All we need is Babel Naa na na nah

Babel? He can't be a returning star. He was never a star in the first place.

Never got a fair crack at it. i'd take him

I'd rather have Markus Babbel back.
DJP

I'd love it if Babel came back. Not his fault Rafa wasted him.

BJH YNWA

FKKKKK dId you lot ever watch Babel? Flattered to decieve.Even Gary Neville said when he played against him he looked like his boots were arguing with the ball! useless, never knew what he was doing himself. No bottle either

24 Nov 2012 12:29:52
Few rumours about Babel floating around. I actually think he would be a good purchase, not to be deployed on the wing as Benitez did, but as back up striker. He would be cheap (ie. in Liverpool range) and he is very fast, albeit with poor first touch. While he never flourished with us, there were times he looked a beast. If only he could improve his first touch and passing, I believe he could really do well as back up striker or in tandem with Suarez.

Canada Red

"If only he could improve his first touch and passing" - Is that Babel or Suarez you talking about?

Also his dribbling, shooting, attitude and overall play

See what Gary Neville said about him! Jesus any of you'se ever go to game? Lazy useless g t!

24 Nov 2012 11:08:11
we aint mediocre so why should we settle 4 mediocre players and owners get a billionaire in and go with the times and do a city

24 Nov 2012 13:59:14
Yes, because there 1000s of billionares who want to spend loads on a football club that'll probably run at a loss for them for at least the first three years even without spending £100m on players a season.

- Something Red -

Have a word with 2 or 3 of your local billionaires and see if they are up for it. If any of they are keen, come back on here and let us know.

Porto and Atletico Madrid always seem to find the next world beater striker, maybe we should get their scout's advice.

HK

24 Nov 2012 11:37:49
They do that because of the rules allowing South American players to play for them whilst we would be in a much more difficult position justifying the signing. Passports, nationality and all that stuff. Puts them at an unfair advantage as they can buy them cheap and sell them expensive.

Iggypop

That's what I was thinking haha....lets hire porto's scouting team

GuvTOB

Agree with that one, except to point out that Falcao was already a star before they got him. He did cost something like 35 million euro

Agree with you there, but portuguese clubs have a big advantage when it come's to getting the best players from brazil.

red jay

You are all right, but some of the South American players have dual citizenship which makes it easier for them to play in England too. Lucas was 20 when he signed for LFC, so it's not impossible. Just saying.

HK

Falcao was a star when the got him? You do realise no name that Athletico bought Falcao off Porto, yes? Porto bought him on the real cheap from Riverplate for around 5.5m, when it was evident he was worth more, just unproven in Europe. So Iggypops original reply still stands.

24 Nov 2012 01:44:41

Do you think Rodgers will drop Allen when Lucas is fit? I think they play a similar role but Lucas is better

No, Allen will be moved further up the field.

BthekingB

I think its more likely to be lucas with allen and gerrard in front of him

I'm just looking forward to Lucas coming back...hopefully his form from before his injuries will return to strengthen our defensive cover

Phil Mc

I would drop Gerrard. Lucas,Allen and Shelvey is my midfield.

Mighty reds

Allen will be interchangeable in the "triangle".

BR will use him either forward with Gerrard or back with Lucas dependant on the situation.

Levans.

I would play allen at lest back
