Can't wait for tomorrow, just got a little feeling we are going to go unbeaten for a while, not smashing teams out the park but grinding out the draws and wins, slowly creeping up the table. I can see the news now about 10/15 games unbeaten putting us in a decent position.
Blast me for being a dreamer I don't care, do t get me wrong I'm not expecting the league or even top 4 but am I far from dreading the next game as I was last month.
I'm excited for tomorrow and looking forward to beating Chelsea piling the pressure on JM.

Ed2 if you don't mind, as it may be a touchy subject and not Liverpool related. What is your take on chelsea's start to the season. What has changed there and how secure is JM. I ask not as a gloat but as a football fan.

{Ed002's Note - Things are obviously not going their way with results right now. They are certainly going to look for an improvement. Players they looked at in the summer did not happen - but they will look to improve again in January and the summer. Like MU a year out of the CL is a financial pain but the can overcome it. Clearly far from great.}

I think the whole world bar Chelsea fans, are lapping up Jose's troubles. let's just say the football gods are at work.

I actually don't mind Mourinho, but he deserves it. Can't bear Chelsea.

Agree3 Disagree1

24 Oct 2015 20:02:11
okay, this is going to upset some people, but here it goes. I'm more interested in what the Eds think. I do agree that Lallana COULD (emphasis on could) become a superstar under this system. I do agree that the fans need to lower expectations for this season. Top 4 this year? I'm not so sure. Maybe next year. Klopp is brilliant and I believe will become as close to a legend as one can become these days. Football has changed. The days of a manager working his entire career at a club are over. Klopp will leave after his contract is up more than likely. This is a rebuild and this is going to be a process. Some hard decisions are going to have to be made. I do agree with those who say that Sturridge should be sold. He is unreliable. I don't agree that we use that money for immediate return in January. I also agree that we should cash in on Coutinho while we can. I, personally, believe Lallana will be much more effective under Klopp's system. Sell whomever we can afford to sell now and use those funds to buy one or two impact players during the summer. In order to become a more balanced and competitive club we have to build and develop the youth system and suppliment with purchases here and there. It should be up to the manager to determine who those purchases should be. If we blow our load (sorry) on one player, for example, Reus, fine, but understand that any reinforcements have to come from the youth system. What we need right now is continuity. The past two years we have thrown away money mindlesssly at players we really didn't need and essentially have had brand new teams. These days of instant gratification have adversely affected the way the club should do business. I do believe that we can once again become the giants of European football that we once were, but it will take patience and there has to be a process. I have to believe that Klopp laid out a 4 year plan to the owners showeing how to get Liverpool back to the top (he alluded to that when he said that in 4 years we would have a title) . However, to the fans that think it will happen this year is naive and unfair. We can do this without buying the most expensive players in Europe. It isn't about buying the best players in the world, it is about finding the right players for the system, something Rodgers couldn't figure out.

Believable8 Unbelievable8

24 Oct 2015 21:13:29
Ye selling our two best players is surely the best way to go forwad. I am amazed of people who want to get rid of Coutinho. Other than Suarez we weren't able to bring a decent players in the last 5 year maybe more. Even players that were good in other teams can't find their best form with us. We sold our best player in the last two summers and see where it got us. Couts and Sturridge are the only two players in our forward game who are both very good and suits our style. Your fantasy about Lallana is nice but has nothing to be based on. He is ok but in his age he will not suddenly become a top player just because Klopp is around. If we can get 25 games from Sturridge a season in all competitions I am happy with that. Benteke as a first striker and he plays when he is fit. Who will buy him anyway?

And I hate this word cash in. We are not here for the business but to win games. Chelsea, City Arsenal don;t cash in on players. They keep them and win.

Agree5 Disagree5

24 Oct 2015 21:38:21
I agree with what you are saying in principle mate. We all need to be patient and realise that a new system takes time to implement. I have to say I actually thought our squad was stronger than it actually is. The last few weeks have shown how far away we are. a couple of injuries and we look toothless but with benteke back and studge soon we should see a difference. Give the team time and don't expect miracles lads. People always want instant gratification but it's a process. I think the problem is that us fans have been waiting so long. YNWA.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Oct 2015 22:03:48
Not sure selling 2 of our best players (coutinho and studge) is the way to get success.

Agree5 Disagree1

24 Oct 2015 22:22:07
If klopp can get the big money signings to gell we could compete with anyone. A fluid attacking trio of firminho, couts and lallana all scoring 10 to 15 plus 20 goals from benteke and the occasionally fit sturridge between them. That's a title challenging side. If one of those 3 can't contribute at least 10 goals a season then i think we should sell them because we won't ever score enough goals to be where we want to be.

Agree1 Disagree4

25 Oct 2015 00:02:12
Eds, any of you, would you please give your opinion on my post and tell me where I may be going wrong? I really believe that Rodgers bought in a panic and didn't really think about what we really needed to suppliment and make the team better. I beleive he bought for buying sake without a plan or strategy and ended up screwing himself; he bought without thinking of the big picture instead of maybe saving back some money for what we really needed and using some from the under 21, to fill in where we needed. Where am I going wrong? I appreciate the feedback.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Your punctuation is very poor.}

25 Oct 2015 07:41:41
Agree with Bod.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2015 07:57:01
Lallana does an awful lot of running. That's great, but at the end of the day, you have to play to your strengths. And running speed is not his strength.

Perhaps Klopp could change him to a Silva type of player - one who relies on technique, intelligent movement and releasing the ball quickly to runners. Letting the ball do the work. I think Lallana has the ability to learn that kind of role.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Oct 2015 11:04:13
Haven't we learnt that selling our best players and replacing them hasn't worked at all yet - sorry but lallana isn't near coutinho in terms of that ability and why would you sell someone younger who is better and has ability to be a great? Lallana works hard and could be good but he slows the game down unfortunately - speed kills and if you want 3 or 4 touches before letting that killer pass go then that killer pass becomes 10 times more difficult.

If it's true, and two players are going to come out soon I hope hope they get the respect they deserve and that there are no idiots hurling abuse at them. If one is an lfc player I'm sure he'll be supported by us all. It's great that we have reached a stage where people can be who they are. Good on them and good luck to them.

Agree5 Disagree5

25 Oct 2015 00:14:58
And why is he average exactly, Red? I remember him playing very well for us under KK and made the England squad for the last Euros and Spurs were interested in him before he went to Palace and has turned his career around after being messed about by the former politician sorry, manager. So again, how is he average?

I know it's not Liverpool related but do you think there's a chance Mourinho might be sacked?
Has a manager ever been sacked the year after winning the title?

Believable3 Unbelievable1

24 Oct 2015 18:41:50
Ancelotti was sacked about 13 games into a season when he'd just done the double for Chelsea, I think anyway could be wrong.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Real Madrid sacked the manager after he won the league a few years back. Was it Del Bosque they did that to?}

24 Oct 2015 19:42:26
ed001,becuase he won it playing ''boring football' if i recall.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it was because he failed to win the Champions League.}

24 Oct 2015 20:46:30
In 1998 Heynckes won the champions league but Real Madrid finished 11 points behind Barcelona in the league. He was sacked.

In 2003 Del Bosque won the league but failed to win the champions league. He was sacked.

In 2007 Cappello won the league but the team didn't play attractively enough. He was sacked.

Guess Real Madrid will win the league this season and Rafa will be sacked.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Oct 2015 21:01:06
Chelsea did it with Ancelotti didn't they? They won it, then got 2nd and he got the sack?

Sorry if this is a stupid question but if we buy a player in Jan will they be eligible to play in the Europa League this season?

I thought I had seen somewhere that they couldn't but can't seem to find anything on it.

Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It depends who is and which if any competitions he has played in before.}

24 Oct 2015 17:18:17
Thanks for the reply. So basically if they had already played in the EL with another team they would be ineligible?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No, it is rather more complex than that.

Three players can be replaced in the January list, of those one player can have played in the group stage of the other European competition (so in Liverpool's case a Champions League player could be signed and registered) as long as his club has not dropped in to the Europa League.

Additionally all three of the players could be signed from clubs who played in and got knocked out of the qualifying rounds or play-offs of the Champions League or Europa League for another club.

Players who were unused substitutes are not eligible.

And nobody targets players under these criteria.}

Some idiots on here at the minute, sell studge for someone less injury prone?
We already have benteke, firmino, origi and Sinclair, with Ings to come back. why add more to that?

Believable4 Unbelievable3

24 Oct 2015 16:28:22
I veritably wouldn't advocate selling our best player and replacing with with no one.

None of the strikers we have are in the same league as Sturridge.

Agree4 Disagree0

24 Oct 2015 16:57:13
If we sold him, we wouldn't need a replacement. I think we should keep him, he might get a bit more resilient, and when he is fit he's the best we have. What's the point of letting someone else have him even if he is rarely fit.

Agree2 Disagree2

24 Oct 2015 17:21:34
Yeah you don't sell a player of such quality regardless of his injury record.
Especially as we have plenty of cover.
Even of he's only fit 10-15 games a year he's still likely to score 10 goals.

Agree1 Disagree1

24 Oct 2015 17:27:07
Mikey1985 what are you talking about?

Are you telling me the forward line we have without Sturridge is good enough to win the league?

Benteke is very injury prone and will not score the goals that are required to win the league.

Firmino looks ok but is still completely unproven in the premier league.

Sinclair is a kid and completely unproven in the premier league.

Origi is a kid who looks ok in bursts but would not make it in any top six team right now.

Ings unfortunately is out for the remainder of the season which is a shame because he looked a real threat.

So yes I feel if we were to sell Sturridge we would need a replacement, further to that I feel we should sell him. Does that make me an idiot?

Agree3 Disagree4

24 Oct 2015 18:06:49
Yes it does con, for starters you can't read properly.

Agree3 Disagree0

24 Oct 2015 18:30:06
My reading is just fine mate.

I did ok getting the three degrees j have so I must be pretty reasonable at interpreting language.

You need to have a look at what your writing because you were implying that it would be crazy to replace Sturridge however in my opinion it would be crazy to not replace him.

Agree2 Disagree4

24 Oct 2015 18:50:37
I don't think there would be much point on holding onto a player for 10/15 games a season really. His wages would be massive for a part time footballer.

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Oct 2015 19:13:16
I'm implying don't sell him in the first place con.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Oct 2015 22:00:36
Mikey, I agree but a time will come when that option won't be as far fetched as you think. Studge is of no use to us I he's injured the quarters of the season. That is a fact and if he can't justify his fitness or wages by not playing, he's of no use to us. And if he's of no use to us? Why is he still here? Football is a business and if a player can't stay healthy and produce, why should his club stick with him for ages without him justifying that faith? That is the reality that you cannot deny codified you do, you'll be disappointed when or if this scenario occurs.

Due to knee problems I think? He was a good player who's injuries cut short his career.

Anyone else notice Lucas has had more shots the last 2 games than he has the last 2 seasons? Klopp has obviously had a positive effect on him already. Although nothing has came from his new found shooting boots up to now I'm looking forward to the lad getting on the score sheet a few times this season. He did join us with an attacking reputation after all.

Believable9 Unbelievable1

24 Oct 2015 08:33:23
Our movement up front is so poor that we seemed forced to shooting from outside the box. I'd rather Lucas wasn't having more shots to be honest, I'd rather he was finding one of our strikers in space.
