A bit harsh maybe but I would like to see Carroll started tomorrow centrally in place of borini, we don't look like a solid set up yet so what's the harm in giving the guy a chance?! If he burys a couple then it's a lot of questions answered... I've had a few beers but what does everyone else think? Eds?

Lfc matt

Get a good sleep mate you need it :). Id much rather see a pacy striker with good instinct upfront, then watch a clumsy guy tripping over his own shoes. RedTurk

Carroll should defo start he will frighten city to bits he wants to stay and has a point to prove so give him a go as much as i back br he cant get rid of carroll without having tried him in his system if it doesnt work not just tmrw then fair enough i think he should be given a fair amount of starts until xmas and then everyone will see wot should happen 2-1 win tmrw cmon redmen

Shut it red turk. was lovin it her til u crept out ur hole slating andy

How about redturk the stupid jerk! if we're gonna put it out there and criticise!
andy carroll is a lfc player, grow up and respect him as a man, player and human being. as things stand this season him & borini are head to head goal wise so right now your derogatory comments to one of your own players have little substance and very little intelligence. whether or not he suits how you see football should be played, he does not deserve any abuse. especially not so after the performances he put in at the end of last season. if the other 10 players on the pitch worked as hard as he did once he was given the opportunity during the run in we would have won 2 cups and kenny dalglish would probably still be employed!
if our fans encouraged our own squad more rather than criticising and slagging them off (like on their twitter accounts) then maybe we wouldn't have finished where we did last season....
learn to encourage not discourage. and as trolls of here and twitter, embrace not disgrace what lfc stands for!
s.p

I would play our no.9 every game, with Suarez right and Borini/Sterling left.

He will adapt to the style. Big guy needs a constant run of games.

Eds, cant get my head around the sahin loan deal...could you shed some light plz? All this talk about FSG trying to save money by bringing the wage structure down...yet they are willing to write off over 7m by taking a player on loan for 9 months of football?

JOZLFC

He is supposed to be quality, lets wait and see. if we get champions league football then he will have made us 20 odd million, and the ability to lure the top players here.
derryred

Because he is a TOP class player lad sort ye had out.

£2million loan fee is a standard fee between clubs, very much like adebayor to spurs on loan last year.
so that leaves his wages, 96k a week?
it's not gonna cripple the club, they've sanctioned it for a season and he may possibly help to put us in a position where we want to be. contending for champions league? what more do you need to understand?

25 Aug 2012 23:38:42
Hello there Eds, do you know if Sahin is eligible to play in the Europa League second leg vs Hearts? {Ed019's Note - Should be, maybe someone can clear that up? }

Has to be registered by 12pm Monday. (paperwork) Not sure how it will work with it being a bank holiday

25 Aug 2012 23:23:44
Hi Eds,
Watched Swansea on tv last night live (Aus) and Dyer showed what a live wire winger should be compared to Downing. Vorm also impressed as well. Also watched highlights of Blackpool, Ince looked a good prospect. Any chance of a player swap and cash. IE Adam going back?
Cheers

We sign a world class player from Real Madrid and Ian Ayre turns up in his Bob the Builder casuals for the cameras. How do LFC get their PR so badly wrong? Sahin looks more business-like than Ayre

cozinoz { Ed019's Note - Haha}

Bob Paisley used to sign players in a cardigan with holes in and his carpet slippers....true story!

Come on lads, Ian Ayre is a nice enough bloke give him a break, he did a good job in bringing the lad in!

Zero

Good reason. Ayre is Bob the Builder. If the cap fits, wear it !

I am a bespoke tailor. Once approached Ian to make him some suits.... As you can see he said its not his thing!

Yeah i wonder why he comes scrutiny at times. He has done an amazing job in selling the club to sponsors despite our clubs worst PR scandal ever.

Best midfield in the Premier League. Top 3 best centre back pairings. One of best keepers when on form. Just need to start finishing our chances and make no mistake we'll be top 4 with or squad finally takin a tasty look about it.
Jonson

Are you talking about Man City or Chelsea

Lets hope for no injury's in the back and two forwards to reach double figures in the league.

25 Aug 2012 23:04:04
Hi eds,

Any interest in Darren Bent swap with Carroll if the Villa rumours are true?

Andy Npton Red {Ed019's Note - I doubt it, player swaps are rare}

25 Aug 2012 23:05:56
As least we've not got any of the cringey semi-erotic medical photos this time! And Ian Ayre needs to stop using 'Jackamo'...

RedKopite

Medical photos are on the official website in all their glory though sahin does have a top on! Does this make them less erotic? I hope so. But seriously could the medical pics be anymore cringe worthy?

Cheers
Greggers

Mate Id take a good look at myself if I thought any medical photos were erotic

I think those pics are for the ladies 2 chek out our new signings and make a judgement

25 Aug 2012 23:05:34
Hopefully Assaidi will feature against City, would like to see Carroll play as well but if he couldn't make Hearts I doubt he'll make tomorrow

nuri sahin = goodbye charlie adam :D

at last some good news for liverpool fans, a player who really can pass the ball,unlike adam ;)

happy days :D

Now to be fair it isn't adam's passing that is poor. I think it is more his tackling and movement off the ball.

I was wrong about the medical, i will hold my hands up, my sources let me down this time but hey we all get one wrong every now n then! When have i ever been wrong before? I said sahin will sign n was always quietly confident! Brilliant signing, first exciting signing of the window but unfortunately a loanee! Next signing will be none other than daniel sturridge! Hey not my choice but will back brendan to the hill!
Ps i had a word n ian ayre has agreed to give ed002 his shirt back! Lol!
HARDY1892 YNWA

When have you ever got one right

You ALWAYS talk s**t mate lol

UCCM

You'll back Brendan to the HILT, not the hill.

davethebutcher

Everything else you said was right?
1) You said Bendtner was the star loanee. apparently a 'very reliable source'. No need telling how wrong you were on that one.
2) you claimed 2 loanees would sign by the day after you posted (posted at 7 aug)
3) you just said you were always secretly confident? 17 Aug you said this about sahin:"He will not be joining liverpool, 100% sure of this!"
4)same day: reliable source said liverpool have agreed a fee to sign ramirez
5) 23 aug, you said dempsey would put in a transfer request later that day.
6) same day you said you've received info about chelsea and lfc agreeing fee for sturridge
7)at 23:5450 you said: "Sahin wont be joining us! Get real! Arsenal or us! He gonna choose arsenal for champions league n even without van persie they still have more fire power than we boast! Fact! We are a depleting squad of mediocre players! I may get slated but this is the cold hard truth n the sooner our owners realise mediocrity is not acceptable the better!" thats very confident isn't it!
I found this all by searching "Hardy1892 YNWA" anyone can check if they want to. After searchin again without the YNWA i found this:
1)16 Aug 11 scott dann having a medical
2) 1 Nov 11 Eden hazard 100% true (about the agreement in Cole's contract)
3) 25 Jun 12 sig would sign 'by thursday' when transfer window wasn't even open then!
4) 18 Jul 12you then said dempsey would deffo never join. (please look at previous point that was after this one where you said dempsey would hand in a transfer request)
Mate, you have never had 'reliable sources' and probably never will. What do you get by pretending to have info, especially when no-one believes you.

23 Aug 2012 23:54:50
Sahin wont be joining us! Get real! Arsenal or us! He gonna choose arsenal for champions league n even without van persie they still have more fire power than we boast! Fact! We are a depleting squad of mediocre players! I may get slated but this is the cold hard truth n the sooner our owners realise mediocrity is not acceptable the better!
HARDY1892 YNWA

Yeah you sound real confident mate

Thankyou so much Hardy, as it is your "ultra reliable sources" telling you every player remotely linked with Liverpool will be signing tomorrow that is keeping this site afloat. Without your direct links to Lfc and BR himself, we would never had learnt such gems as "Ramirez will sign tomorrow" or "The loan signing will be Bendtner" or my personal favourite regarding Sahin "He will not be joining liverpool, 100% sure of this!"

So once again Hardy, Thankyou and keep up the brilliant work. You Truly are a credit to this site.

Haha 'hey we all get one wrong now and then'

Well Hardy you actually get them all wrong, a quick search reveals some of your comedy moments as follows; 'Scott Dann medical at 5.30', 'hazard 100% true', 'Sahin will definitely join Arsenal' and the best for last 'Bendtner will be loan signing'

Keep up the good work HARDY1892 you are fast becoming an LFC rumours legend.

Hi eds just watching MOTD what s your informed opinion on Everton at the moment { Ed019's Note - Doing well?

Tim Cahill has lost a lot of weight,Mikel Arteta has put on a few stone,and apparently Jack Rodwell is writing a book about the glory days he never had at goodison,it should be available in the short but rubbishe stories department of all sad book stores.

Visit there page they think their getting top 4.just thinking about it sent a shudder down my spine

25 Aug 2012 22:56:13
Hi eds, am I correct in saying that Dembele will be a free agent next summer or did he sign an extension? What a signing he would be on a free..

BthekingB

We should try an get him, a great talent

25 Aug 2012 22:54:52
Am I wrong in thinking there is a pattern emerging to our midfield connected to Barcelonas midfield

Lucas = busquets =cdm role
Allen = Xavi= passing tempo control role
Sahin = iniesta =skill n creative role

What do you all think?

Andy k
Chorley

Sahin is far slower and less skillfull than Iniesta but yes there are certain similarities.
Cal

Where does Gerrard come in though :/

More like Lucas/Busquest, Allen/Xavi, Sahin/Xabi Alonso

BthekingB

Think more Spain and less Barca.
Sahin = Alonso

Gerrard = Fabregas, playing up frongt

Stick gerrard om the right of the front 3 where he can do some damage

Look we play the same way now, but not to the same quality as of yet, so the roles will be similar and they will show the same qualities.

25 Aug 2012 22:54:15
eds are liverpool interested in dembele? great all round player should cost too much?

northern red {Ed019's Note - No, I think you are suffering from MOTD fever}

25 Aug 2012 22:49:30
Liverpool get Sahin, Arsenal walk away from the deal and turn their attentions towards Chiek Tiote ?

Is this about right Ed's? {Ed019's Note - Try asking the Arsenal editors}

25 Aug 2012 22:48:37
Would love to see Dempsey at liverpool. Can see him adding a little more attacking to our midfield and help strikers a little more.

Also I know this won't happen but dembele for fulham looked great.

Jordan

25 Aug 2012 22:41:27
what strikers if any are we interested in,if carroll leaves. {Ed019's Note - Dempsey, Sturridge.. }

25 Aug 2012 22:38:43
Hi eds, With the ongoing saga with Caroll. A good option would be a straight swap with Colocinni, then sell Agger to City for £25m. Colocinni good enough replacement for Agger and then £25m to get a new striker. I think for that dough Real Madrid would contemplate selling Higuin and pretty sure that out come would please 90% L.F.C. fans for sure. As much as I love Agger Higuin would definitely soften the blow.
Jamie

So a 23 year old for a 32 year old in what world does this make sense?

25 Aug 2012 22:37:55
Our 1st team formation will be:

Reina
Glen Johnson, Agger, Skrtel, Enrique
Lucas, Sahin, Gerrard
Suarez Borini Downing

I would have love if Raheem Sterling replaced Downing because he is far more better than Downing. Also, I would appreciate if we can use Robinson to replace Enrique at the left back.

I somehow don't see Allen not being on the team sheet if he's available...

Right, so we've just bought Joe Allen for 15m, just to sit him on the bench?

No it wont! downing wont even be starting as his competition now is enrique...and wheres our 15m signing allen?

Replace gerrard with allen and downing with assaidi and your pretty much there, gerrard is going to be phased out gradually this season as did carra last.
jaydee ynwa

Allen will start and Enrique is far better than Robinson. Why do people underrate him.

No sahin out and gerrard in. i don't think he can play tomarrow.
derryred

Would love a 1st team of
gk reina
johnson skertl agger enrique
allen lucas sahin
gerrard borrini suarez

Gerrard is the man and when he is able to play his own game with out looking after others we will get the rewards he wont be phased out , get behind him the way he gets behind us as he could have gone to real a couple of weeks ago

25 Aug 2012 22:29:14
Eds now that Sahin has signed, how do you personally think we will play midfield wise?

Luke JFT96 {Ed019's Note - Lucas, Sahin, Allen and Gerrard in a more advanced role would be what I'd do }

25 Aug 2012 22:33:14
spaering and cole will be leaving liverpool.carroll will sign for either west ham or villa,as he know's he wont get a look in this season at liverpool.I fully expect dempsey maybe sturridge and a wide player to sign.Watch out for a late man city bid for agger,doubt it willbe accepted as there's no time to replace him.

25 Aug 2012 22:24:22
Liverpool should test Utd and slap a 20m bid in on Hernandez! Get 17m for Carroll! Ooosh!

YNWA
Wonky

Wonky is that your way of thinking

No thanks. Think he was a one hit wonder and seems to have medical issues.

Don't claim u wouldn't want him just because he plays for the mancs, he's a great little player, would be just what we need. We all hate man utd, but you can't pretend all their players are crap! Hernandez type player is what we need - its never gonna happen, but I'd take him in a second.

If he was that good man utd would have him in their team but they don't

25 Aug 2012 22:22:46
I know its unrealistic but can u imagine if liverpool could sign a top drawer forward like Falcao/Cavani/Llorente, a true goalscorer! We would be insane!

Rodgers has said he does'nt want a goalscorer but wants the goals to come from "The Team"...we're doomed ...This Chicken Tika football is fantasy everyone is on to it so change their game accordingly we have published far and wide what system we will be playing and so teams give us their best and beat us at our own game just look at Hearts a third Div team taking us to task I'm sorry but Rodgers looks out of his depth.. {Ed019's Note - Well where else are goals going to come from? The sky? }

Well said ed, some people really do talk tripe

Accidently agreed to the reply because of ed19's reply. We really need an 'agree with ed' button!

Spain do not always play with a natural scorer

25 Aug 2012 22:22:30
eds who do you think we will sign next {Ed019's Note - A footballer hopefully}

What an american footballer?

Haha damn. Anyone in your mind ed19, and not a top model, I think a footballer possibly signing for LFC

25 Aug 2012 22:17:22
Just seen the photos of Nuri signing today on the lfc site. Does Ayre think it's boxing day with that shirt on? Did his mum dress him today? Sort it Ian FFS.

Ultra red

What the hell is this, a fashion forum? Who cares

So the Bloke even gets Grief about how he dresses FFS

Ian your looking cool all the best , georgio armani.

25 Aug 2012 22:14:05
Good to see Ian Ayre dressing to impress.

25 Aug 2012 22:08:47
Just wondering if Sahin is eligible to play against City tomorrow? or will it be to late to register him?

Thanks
credg {Ed019's Note - No}

25 Aug 2012 22:05:27
You got to love Xabi Alonso, inspiring Sahin to join us. You are and forever will be a Liverpool legend. Si

He is one of my top players of my 30 year following, that is mainly down to his respect for us once leaving the club!

Alonso jumped ship so no legend of mine- - SALLY-

Don't worry he will be home next season

Jamesy

Ok what A-hole disagreed with that comment. Look - man U fans are not welcome on this site.

He never jumped ship, He was pushed.

Sally he was forced out by Benitez you plank!

Brisc93

Not sure if he made it happen but a legend for us before it anyway. XABI, Xani Alonso!, he doesnt need to come back for me to love him.

Sally dont be a fool alonso never wanted to leave us he was forced out by benitex during the gareth barry saga! alonso is a legend!

Alonso=LFC legend
And yes Rafa forced him out STUPIDLY but he was the one who picked him up for £10m in Spain and made him into a £35m footballer.

25 Aug 2012 22:05:20
Ed's do you think Sahin will make an appearence tomorrow? {Ed019's Note - Probably will be shown to the crowd}

25 Aug 2012 22:03:54
I'm a liverpool fan that lives in leicester and the leicester fans here are convinced that spearing is moving there for 2 million. Just thought I'd let you know as I haven't seen this mentioned on the site. Great job on the site. Cheers Figired

I've mentioned it several times over the last few weeks. RED LENIN

Lets hope he does make a move. The best thing for his career.

25 Aug 2012 22:02:45
hi ed i see kaka been left out of the madrid squad for weekends game again, any chances of liverpool goin for a loan deal on him , {Ed019's Note - No}

25 Aug 2012 22:00:46
Sahin no 4. Hope you sty with us 5 years.

25 Aug 2012 21:59:22
I think Nuri is the best looking man i have ever laid eyes on.

Glad he is at liverpool.

Have heard nothing guys I'm sorry(In regards to new players).

Thanks,

Maisey.

Had to disagree being a bloke lol
Skurks

You obviously haven't been paying attention to me Maisey...

Jay Spearing

I'll give sahin a run for his money.

Dirk Kuyt echoed by Charlie Adam

25 Aug 2012 21:54:00
sahin eligible to play city? {Ed019's Note - No, too late I think. He needs to train with the team first anyway}

25 Aug 2012 21:52:55
Anyone seen the pics on the official website of Ian Ayre greeting Sahin today? I'm not being funny but what as he got on? He could have made an effort. He looks like he's spent the night behind Lewis's in a cardboard box. He's our big businessman.

Yeah its pretty disrespectful tbh

I don't think a young man really cares about these kind of things. Only older people think its disrespectful because there generation had more class. But the new generation is smarter so chin up :)

25 Aug 2012 21:51:00
Hi Eds is there any chance of liverpool signing Sahin on a perm in the summer cheers {Ed019's Note - Sahin wants to return to Madrid, but his mind can of course change during the course of the season}

25 Aug 2012 21:49:18
Finally players are choosing traditional numbers. Sahin 4, assaidi 11. If Dempsey or sturridge was to come in I hope cole gives up the number 10. Wish Allen took number 6.

Why, what's the big deal. Number 6 traditionally is a centre backs number anyhow, especially if 4 is worn by a midfielder. Who cares anyhow.
Jonson

red sox fans are in up roar after fenway sold/traded our best player to save money.There also trying to cut the liverpool wage bill,and are not willing to invest there own cash in either team.Im telling you there's a storm brewing in boston,the fans are not happy.wont be long before liverpool fans realise there going nowhere fast.We in the states know that your new stadium is just a pr stunt that will never come true.

I have been hearing this for quite a while. Yet to post this on hear one gets slagged off. a website have been hearing something similar.
Not positive news so it upsets people here.

If you cannot face the real world. You will be forever disappointed.
Sockless

Shut up, you know nothing, they are simply cutting their loses for the season and getting rid of the dead weight so they can rebuild again next season, they still have one of the highest wage bills in baseball, stop trying to wind up and worry Liverpool fans

Oh and I forgot to mention the reason sox fans aren't happy is because of bobby valentine being a poor manager, not the fact they are trading a player, I live in the UK and know more than you

The three big Sox players trading were sucking and had huge wage bills. Of course you would trade them. Crawford never lived up to the hype. Plus they are 14 games out. Not like these players were lighting it up.

Dont the red sox have like the 3 highest wage bill in mlb behind the yankees and philly i dont think youve got no reason to be complaining lol i cant believe you would turn on fenway after they delivered the the championship trophy after a 75 year wait

We could be getting a quality striker after all then! haha

No more talk of rounders in pajarmers on here please!

Brief update on the carroll situation,talks are taking place with newcastle.Newcastle only want to pay 12m,but liverpool wont even entertain such a low offer.villa have asked to be kept informed on developments,with liverpool hoping to start a bidding war.One last thing,dont rule out west ham..

Pards has just told talksport that he's not coming to Toon ,they have someone younger lined up.

Didnt we agree a fee with west ham but carroll didnt want to go?

Someone younger?? He isn't that old

^Someone younger mate? He's 23, can't be much younger...

RedKopite

Why would you disagree with something that has come from the guys mouth. He has said not coming end of.

Anyone know if Assaidi is in the squad for the man city game?

Cheers

Red Rout

Wont know till tomoro because it is a home game :D

25 Aug 2012 20:57:58
The next 3 home games are going to shape our season, 3 wins against the mancs and arsenal would be massive, 3 loses and it would be a disaster, come on you redmen let's get in that top 4

I dont agree.
How can a 38 game season be decided by the first 5 games?
jonnybarnes89-90

So four games in have shaped our season?

25 Aug 2012 20:33:06
Why have we not put a bid for Darren Bent - out and out goal poacher with pace, strength and very direct.

Something missing from the current Liverpool front line - does anyone agree?

Cos he s rubbish

He would be very much overpriced, look how much we paid Villa for Downing, and Bent is better..
Cal

Because he is rubbish

Because he can only score with a beachball

We play a pass and move system, Bent has neither of these qualities

Big D

Bent's a good finisher, I'd like to have him

Red Ollie

I'm not keen on people who make personal and cruel comments about players. However, I'd make an exception for Darren Bent - he stinks!

25 Aug 2012 20:15:25
Hi eds. Can you CONFIRM whether Sahin has signed or if a deal has been agreed. If the latter could he still go to another club?
Speculation STILL on the internet that Wenger could try to gazump us and take the player to Highbury.
Many thanks
vrcomp
Y.N.W.A.

{Ed006's Note - He has to undergo a medical first. You will hear news on tuesday as it is a bank holiday weekend and can only be confirmed Tuesday.}

No good going to Highbury mate its a pile of rubble.

{Ed002's Note - The medical was completed this morning.}

Just been confirmed that he has passed his medical...

Truth is King Kenny left us in this s**t and only King Rafa can get us out of it! Saying that I hope BR succeeds :)
Immy (surrey red)

Support a team closer to where you live if your going to insult legends like that.

Mushi

Would people ever just move on. I enjoyed Rafa's success as much as anyone but he's gone and not everything was rosy when he was there either. He won 2 trophies but we can't deny they were both tinted with luck aided with a colossus performance by our captain. It should be remembered that he and he alone lost us the title with his tinkering and crazy sale of keane when torres was struggling with injury. Unfortunately when it comes to Rafa, some people can't see the woods for the trees.. MonaghanRed

2 Champions League Finals (1 won) and only a John Arne Riise slice in the 4th minute of injury time away from a 3rd.

Obviously you prefer where we are now, which is light years away from even qualifying for Champions League.

redmersey

Well put Monaghan Red. Rafa bought plenty of poor players in his time and didnt play a particularly attractive brand of football either so give BR a chance - he's only had one PL game so far

for us to get any money on carrol we would have to play him and play to his strenghts instead of carro; playing to BRs tactics , once he gets a few goals there will be a big dielema , weather we sell him or keep him ,he can score goals , and when he starts getting goals other teams will be sick they never bought him , post this as you have not posted anything of mine since june or july

mickey b

This guy p*ssed?

Or loan him to aclub like west hamwho will play himto his strengths ,his value rises and wayhey we have 20millionfor him

Agree a loan spell is the best option.
Hopefully he will go to a club who will play in a style to accomodate his strengths . As it stands BR's style of play is not doing his career any good.He is a decent player but because of his poor start to last season and the big signing on fee around his neck he definately lacked confidence in his ability which we all know is better as shown at Newcastle. Lets loan him out for a season as the previous poster said and get his confidence back and hopefully if he does well his transfer price will increase.(But not £35 mill)

REDBILL 16

Or we could give him a spade and get him clearing up the horse rubbish after games he should feel right at home then.

Good evening Reds/Ed's
I have 2 very quick questions for you to answer.

Which signing do you think will make the most impact this season?

Which of the offloaded players will be missed the most?

#19

Allen and Bellamy

I believe EDs don't have a Crystal ball...They can't see the future...only time will tell who will make impact or will be missed...that was really a dumb ques to ask mate...YNWA
L7S

Allen n sahin

Was only a bit of fun question, stop being a miserable ball bag. Borini and Bellamy for me.
Tommy.

25 Aug 2012 19:42:58
Ed, i'm assuming that Sahin is eligible for Hearts on Thursday? {Ed002's Note - Sure.}

He isnt a liverpool player yet

25 Aug 2012 19:39:52
Heard a little one before off a scouse football journalist who works for one of the high brow papers that if Liverpool ship out who they want to this coming week (spearing, adam, carroll and poss downing if a decent offer comes in) then aswell as clint Dempsey possibly aaron Lennon could also come in!

A liverbird upon my chest

25 Aug 2012 19:13:38
I hear Everton are trying to get Niang for 2 mill? Surely we can match that ed? This is low risk money for a fella tipped for greatness . I am saying this because if a club does not agree to pay the asking price for Carroll we may keep him until they do . Clubs will try to leave it late as poss with Carroll so we need to buy the likesof Niang or look for another loan or bargain. What you reckon eds?? {Ed002's Note - Liverpool cannot buy every single player that comes on to the market.}

No but for 2million this guy is a no brainer,if he makes it great,if not sell him back to a french club, he s better than ngog was

25 Aug 2012 19:34:06
Will Sahin be available for tomorrows game; does anyone know? {Ed002's Note - No.}

Just wondering, who is bottom of the league?

Southampton?

And who can't spell their own name?

Oh bless Tree. You lost again? Can't find your own site, can't make head nor tail of the league table...
Bet your mum's really proud.

Just wondering when was the last time you was top an stayed there??

In fairness everton have played out of their skin so far , be a shame after xmas when you get a few injuries and slide right back down below us whilst we grow in confidence towards the latter end of the season

wait until our team starts to gel sometime around mid october i d say and our rise will coincide with your spectacular collapse

by march april may we ll be banging in goals for fun and youll be wishing youd brought in landon donovan in the january window

Just a question.... Is sahin available for tmro's game??? {Ed002's Note - No.}

Can you elaborate? {Ed002's Note - I can't see that it needs a great deal of elaboration, but: No, Sahin is not available to play tomorrow.}

Please, surely ed002 you can find the necessary time to embellish on your answer of no. Surely you must accept a rather definitive concept of yes and no is pretty complex!

Cheers

Does it make you feel sick to look at the premier league table, I KNOW its early in the season, BUT EVERTON at the TOP...... thats not right surely

Aren't Swansea top with plus 8 goal difference {Ed002's Note - Chelsea are top.}

Well get used to it bozo ha ha

You had better get use to it

Comical, two games in (three for Chelsea) and I am seeing comments like this! Get a grip.. There is 38 games in a season and there will be many changes throughout the season.

My understanding is that if a player is not eligible for the first leg he cannot play in the second leg.

So he ll score on his debut against arsenal...... priceless!!

He can't play till the next phase.

Eds i am hearing there was a problem with sahins medical, hence the reason he hasn't been officially announced, any insight into what went wrong? Is this to do with his previous injuries? Can't believe it, why can't anything run smoothly for our club for once? Gutted is an understatement, he could have been so influential to our midfield aswell! Any more news on this eds? Will we switch our attention to other midfield targets or stick with what we have n go all out for a natural goalscorer? Thanks eds!
HARDY1892 YNWA

He has been announced - go look on the club website.

You're the man with the inside info Hardy. Enlighten us like you usually do...

I thought the medical is taking place tomorrow? But that may be utter b*******. {Ed002's Note - It was done this morning.}

It has run smoothly, Sahin has been signed by LFC after passing his medical today.

He will be formally rolled out before the game at Anfield tomorrow... calm down, have faith

Tel 1949

I just did bigbadben! Have another look on the official website, it still saying pending a medical does it not??? Hence my accurate post, lets just hope im wrong hey! But i very much doubt i am!

As i thought it still says pending the player passing a medical! Must be the longest medical in the world or i am actually talking sense?? Got you l thinking now aint it? I will claim credit tomorrow although i dont really want to as i highly rate sahin from my time in germany!
HARDY1892 YNWA

Relax take a deep breath and think about it for a second, The official site announce the deal is in place pending a medical, the medical has since taken place but it is a bank holiday weekend so the paper work cannot be completed until after the weekend, the club don't give us a blow by blow account of any medical we just get the pictures when the deal is complete.
Sahin will be at Anfield watching the game.

Chris

Have you claimed your credit lad? Oops

Fabio Borini can score 15 or so goals per season if he plays in the center more often rather than on the sides.

BUt wonder why Borini is playing on the sides, surly he is fox in the box type player.

BORINI IS WASTED ON THE WINGS.

Luis Suarez should be drifting along the sides supplying Borini with balls rather than Borini supplying Suarez with balls.

BR needs to address this matter, if not am afraid we might not see the better of Suarez and Borini.

May be Borini is preferring to play on the sides, but I think what ,matters most is what is good for the team and he must know it.

And I think we can get two very good players for 20M, if BR knows how to spend well... I don't know if there is real interest in these players but I hope there is.

Isco of Malaga, and Nolito of Benfica, would be two cracking players, 10M for each.... would be great bargain.

But sadly LFC managers seems too much focused on players in BPL.

Hearing we are in for Daniel Sturidge. That little Chelsea cast of who is selfish, inconsistent. Hell no, go for Nolito would even demand less wages compared to
Sturidge.

Also Heard Chelsea will not sell him for less than 15M and would demand close to 20M. Thats madness,,if we can't get him for anything less than 10M, there are far better value out there for far less money.

Swansea bought Michu for a mare 3M while Sunderland paid 15M for Fletcher and Westham 10M for Jarvis.
No wonder why British players are overrated.

Look at Newcastle they bought Cabaye, Ben Arfa, Cisse, they didn't go for BPL players, look at the out put..

It would work with us even , players of quality like Nolito and Isco would improve the team very much.

Our Scouts and Scouting department is shi#t.
What has happened to them. Since Rafa left our Scouting department has fallen to the ground.

Always looking at BPL crap. Enough is Enough, look outside England for players.

Suarez won't pass to borini and borini does not stand out as the obvious choice for cf after playing off the wing adequately for a fairly good Roma team

Rodgers footballing philosophy does not include wings or wingers. The front three and the attacking mid rotate and swap positions during the game. Therefore anyone in thos front four positions that cannot play all of them is a liability. You will see over the coming weeks Gerrard popping up all over the place, Borinii doing likewise, same as Suarez and one other. It confuses the hell out of defenders because they are continually having to decide whether to track their man or hold their position.

This is for ed002. League is in motion and after few games it is clear that we can't compete with both Manchester clubs and Chelsea. If Sahin, Suarez, Gerrard, Allen and Borini on pitch but most of all Rogers tactics and strategic intellect can do some magic as is expectef from all of them with the same defensive display as last year till Lucas was fit i can see us competing with Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle for that 4th spot.
But we dont have the squad strength to fight on all fronts as Europa league and the two cups.

My question is how can we actually be satisfied with the transfer window. Even Everton has assembled a pretty decent squad.. Where do we actually stand and what are our targets for this season to achieve..?

Musicnation {Ed002's Note - I think Liverpool have only played one game and I would expect it is a little early to panic. Liverpool has brought in four players that the manager wanted so far, and perhaps another will arrive. For now there is a need to trust the manager.}

Well said ED, I'm sick of supporters worrying after one league game, we have a tough start, man city, arsenal, Sunderland away n then man utd at home, so we need to be patient coz its going to be a slow start for us....... Trust in Rodgers people and get behind the team...... Come on you redmen tomorrow ..... Goodluck

Andy

A few games? One game we have played, a big fat ONE!

Well to be fair, weve actually played 4 games .... 3 Europa league + 1 Prem game.

Score so far is 3 wins and 1 extremely dodgy loss (when down to 10 men)

not bad so far :-)

So we will win the Europa league and get relegated then?

Got into a little bit of a debate with a mate recently. We were arguing which was the better season.

1) 2001 treble winning season 3rd in league
2) 2005 champs league winners

Was wondering what others think, it might help sort our argument!

Agree treble season
Disagree for champs league win

2001 treble for me by a long way cheers pk

Got to champs league ,it's the biggest competition in club football ,plus the first British team to join the elite 5times. Cheers psv

Nothing was better than instanbul

Im sorry but Im afraid that I am getting just a little tired of this silly agree / disagree game every time Durham red makes a post........... this site is supposed to be for grown ups, can we please bring some intelligent and informative thinking back ?

Tel 1949

Ok calm down tel 1949, I get sick of reading the same questions about the same players which have been answered numerous times rather than a bit of talk on Liverpool. It's just a banter page. If you don't like it ignore it

Tel 1949 do you just come on hear to slag people off? Made a crap signed Swansea joke earlier (taking the mick out of a post) and called someone else a fool for voicing an opinion.

Is that your idea of informative intelligent posts? At least Durham red starts some debate

OK Ive calmed down.... maybe its these tablets ? :-)

Just looking on the rumours page and Ed002's response to Carroll and the lack of buyers! I think it is as important to buy Dempsey and sell Adam and Spearing. If we have big Andy at the close of the transfer window, then so be it. I hope we dont end up flogging him for a silly £12 million or so. If that was the only offer, then keep him. You just never know what he might do this season. Stranger things have happened, especially when you least expect it.

The Irish Rover

I would be happy if we kept him, rather than let him go back to Newcastle for peanuts.I couldn't believe the cheek of them to take him on loan if we pay half his wages.It's like saying thanks for the 35 million and giving our boy a pay rise.Sucker.

BR won't give Carroll a chance, a shame really because I think Carroll could be as good as a new signing.
BR give Andy a chance, keep him for another season and take it from there.

Bobbinred

We are suckers, actually embarrasing.

Not that I'm dissing Carroll, I like him. Play him.

Just think we look like a bunch of kn#bs how we do things.

I bet Andy plays against City

cozinoz

The fact is we are not in a position to just let a 15 million to 20 million player sit on our bench and not play.
Reading between the lines Rodgers is not keen on him so he is unlikely to play much if at all.
Rodgers needs to come out and say he is either staying or going.... I know that this will affect the price we get for him but were not getting the 35 million back anyway.
The point I am trying to make is that if its a choice between Andy Carroll sitting on our bench or , for arguments sake, Daniel Sturridge actually playing in the team every week then I would rather have Sturridge.
Do I think Sturridge is better. No. But I believe in what Brendan Rodgers is trying to do and that is good enough for me.

Eds I posted awhile back about huntelaar is there any truth in the rumors of a 16m bid? he's a touch of class that we need up front along with dempsey and Sahin top four is well in touching distance... {Ed002's Note - There would not be the money for such a bid unless Carroll were sold.}

25 Aug 2012 17:16:05
Watchin tom ince today just puts in perspective of how much money did we waste on downing i wud take ince any day hes not scared to beat his man gets stuck in and has a end product downing has pace but dunt beat his man is a real wimp in tackles n hardly ever scores
Basy

Their is a bit of a difference in expectation playing for Blackpool and playing for us. I'd fully expect Downing to look a world beater playing in the Championship as their's no denying he looked pretty danm good at Villa and Boro before that. I think he's a good player that has had a crisis of confidence,felt the weight of expectation of being a 20 mil pound player and his head is firmly stuck up his asse unfortunately. Best thing if he got off and try and rebuild his career elsewhere if you ask me.

25 Aug 2012 16:54:42
Eds ..
Brendan Rodgers is a very good coach. I was quite suprised when we signed him as in my opinion he's not experienced enough for the pressures that comes with the Liverpool job. Swansea played great and have some talented gems but Martinez seemingly made a platform to which Rodgers continued and arguably made better.

We shouldn't have got rid of Dalglish after one season as attackingly we was excellent. We was averaging 20 odd attempts on goal every game and dominated most teams before our drastic luck got the better of the players confidence.

I said before we got rid of Benitez that to replace a forward think manager we should have a proven winner in place.
Hodgson wasn't my favoured choice but I supported him even in those cringe worthy interviews.

It's sad to see those few fans who slate managers and players in such a disgusting manner and I can only assume you get loads that are unfit to post.
The pressures of our club are far greater now than its ever been and is it helping?

I for one will back Brendan and hope he brings out the talent we know he has.
Unfortunatly I'm pritty sure he will be judged at every game and his transfers will be under the critics magnifying glass.

C'mon you reds

Boot room blarney - well we have sahin now and what i have read we have a great mid field now , well i hope all goes well but i remember the euphoria last years signings generated and the great start by kk so im cautious this season and we DEFINATELY have to get a world class goal poacher but i am not sure there is anyone available just yet with a world class rating and if one was would they want to come to us this season without champions league ,thats why i think these loan deals are a great way as the player or the club do not over commit and one year of banging in goals could get us top 4 the top player would get their money,would of had a good run in our side and sharpened their game up and we could then go for that sort of player again but next time on a permanant deal.

We can't just sign a world class goal poacher at the snap of a finger. hopefully borini, morgan or carroll will become one.
derryred

No but we signed a complete donkey for 35m like that...

25 Aug 2012 16:31:00
Are the people in charge of buying and selling a bunch of persons?

Thomas ince isn't good enough for Liverpool so we sell him a year ago for £1 and some sweets and now he's being talked about moving for up to £5m....

We buy Carroll, Hendo, Downing n Adam for around £75m!

If anybody has contacts at the club can you let them know I've got some Magic Beans for sale..... ;)

DeV

We sold ince because he wouldnt sighn a new contract due to his old man telling him to ask for a lot of money.
please can we get our facts right
soul man

Who cares about ince

Wow okay so you would've kept ince, payed him lots of money for him to sit on the bench?
derryred

'Ince, Ince will tear you apart again' just got back from watching Blackpool (season ticket holder but lifelong LFC fan), and that's what they sing week in week out. He's developed tremendously at Blackpool and whilst he won't be sold for a season or two, he'll 'go' for £7/10M when the time comes.
JJ

So our staff couldn't see in him what Blackpools did?
and by wanting lots of money, you mean lots more than Adam and Spearing are on... Or for that matter your saying Blackpool could offer more?
He's the sort of player Brenden would love to have on the bench to turn to.
DeV

Dont want that family near our club cheers

We wouldn't of needed him anyway but if we would have loaned him to Blackpool instead of selling him then we would have been able to sell him for much more than we did

Lfc Liam

Why do we bother having a youth system. If they not avg 'yes sir' local lads like Spearing they won't come through. We should have listened to Ince's dad. Now another thing to laugh at. Lad at Fulham looks ok too.

25 Aug 2012 16:30:13
Will all you people stop going on about costs and wages and what not. I don't care who cost what and how much they are on as long as they don't bankrupt the club. If we get class players for one year and they help us push on from last season I will be a very happy bunny. What do the think Ed?

Frog.

I think we'll look like a bunch of tossers if Sahin carries on being injury prone....

25 Aug 2012 16:23:54
Eds do you think Daniel Sturridge is a good option if Carroll leaves - i for one think it is a disgraceful that we're being linked with the lad - not only is carroll a better player, but sturridge is terrible, saw him in gb squad and he goes missing in games, i would much rather see Dempsey.

No I don't like sturridge.
He gready and selfish, doesn't read the game great, thinks he's better than he is, more interested in his night life and friends and doesn't score enough.
Protentialy he is awesome but I believe he is one of those ' he English he world class' stars.

Then I realised it was the Fulham fans singing on the TV I have on in the background.

Love it!

I am starting to think the team might start to pick itself.. Lucas, Allen, Sahin, Gerrard are too good to leave out.. Sterling likewise, he is already one of our better players.. Suarez a must.. thats the 6 then?

Im assuming it will be Lucas. Allen and Sahin in midfield
and sterling down the left, Suarez up top and Gerrard on the right?

Personally I'd try Gerrard as the striker and keep Suarez out wide.. It's about time Gerrard was played there..we need goals..and God damn it, Gerrard is fast and takes his chances..

Thoughts?

I would rather keep gerrard as an impact sub. Suarez, assaidi and dempsey(if he signs) up front, allen, lucas n sahin in the centre makes a decent midfield n strikeforce.
Indian Buzzer

Gerrard as an impact sub..... WOBBLE THAT HEAD!
What a dufuss!
jonnybarnes89-90

Gerrard is fast? As a CF? Ill have some of that please...

Gerrard is fast in decline

25 Aug 2012 19:53:28
Gerrard as an impact sub, what are you on?

He's still one of the best players about, he's taken very good care of his body and is still at a level where he can play 90 minutes.

Gary Macca 37 and playing for the whole 90 for Liverpool in the Uefa Cup and league. Save the ''impact sub'' crap for a couple of seasons yet, please.

Ollieston

If anything sterling will be the impact sub

its looking like getting rid of thomas ince was a mistake. did we sell him or was it a free transfere

and was there any sell on clause or buy back fee agreed

Thomas Ince started to get that whole attitude thing going on.
His dad wanted more money for him.
Liverpool did the right thing at that particular time and good luck to him in the future.

Who cares he was never going to get in our 1st team coz he ain't good enough, why do people post about old players when they score a goal..... It's pathetic

Andy

No he wanted first team football and at the time was not good enough so he left and in my opinion still isn't so goodbye and good luck.

We have sterling who is waaaay better =)

It was a pay rise his dad wanted.

Ince was a contract rebel at the age of 19, doesn't bode well for the future.

His Dad (Paul) got sacked from managing some team and had way too much time on his hands, so he interfered with his boys career and was happy to talk to Sky about it.

Liverpool decided to cash in andmove on from the problem, knowing that Sterling was coming through the ranks.

I watched Ince play for the youth and he was very good at times, but he was also wasteful at others. It's a shame we couldn't have kept him on modest wagers and waited until he had proved himself in the first team, but then he may never had got his chance at a big club like Liverpool, sad but true.

Ollieston

No Ince was ready and Sterling is not yet... Should have given him a pay rise... Oh wait, we bought a Downer instead for more wages than Ince wanted

Liverpool accept 1.35m bid for want away youngster Pacheco.

Bid from who?

Hope so. No point at LFC, foreign youngsters don't get a go. Suso, Adorjan and Pacheco will be 25 and still in the reserves.

25 Aug 2012 16:11:54
Ed, any word from on big andy, also i see someone called fazeli being mentioned who is this.

belfast red adam {Ed002's Note - He is the agent of Sahin.}

Hi Ed's really happy about sahin I can see him being vital this season, let's hope he loves it here to make it permanent next season... He despretly need a proven goal scorer do you think we will get one before the transfer window shuts? And who do you think it will be? And is there a chance of a suprise signing?

Cheers:)

Hi Ed,
do you have a rough idea as to when Dempsey will sign?
Will it be deadline day? Ta:) {Ed002's Note - There is no point in guessing at the dates transfers will complete. Sorry.}

Dempsey is a good player who try's hard in every minute of the clock, however he's not messi and also not at a great age. I wouldn't lose sleep if we diddnt get him.

25 Aug 2012 16:02:26
i know sahin plays cm but what kind of player is he, and also can he play behind the strikers or out wide ect plz

Apparently he can also play left back / wing back! remember watching Real Madrid friendly where he came on and the commentators mentioned the positions he could play.

El Diablo!

He is a passer

He his a pass master like Alonso and Molby.

Playmaker like Adam was supposed to be....

25 Aug 2012 15:58:30
we re off the bottom of the league thanks to jelavic

No we are not

Yes we are.

Will be back tomorrow

People shouldn't have a problem with loaning in quality players. If it improves our squad, even if it is just for a year, I'm all for it.

BthekingB

There is a rebuilding job to be done. it cant all be done in one go so loan players can smooth the way a little if we can get quality

25 Aug 2012 15:43:57
"Caught-offside" are saying Sahin deal does have a "option to buy" clause of £14m? Guess we'll find out for sure next year! Ged {Ed002's Note - There is no option to buy.}

Ed have you seen the contract or is this your opinion or from the same source who led you to believe Suarez would be sold this summer? {Ed002's Note - Hey - you keep believing what caughtoffside ares aying. Sure I told you about the interest that there woulkd eb in Suarez. This week he has provided interviews to the British press confirming that - or do you think Suarez is a liar? Why should any of the editors give up their own time to keep these pages updated when we get streams of abuse and constant digs at us from ignorant MF trolls like you.}

I would be amazed if Real allowed an option to buy, Sahin is the perfect long term replacement for Xabi Alonso. I'm just very glad we'll have him for the year. If he does well (which he will) his price will go up but I really can't see anything other than a return to madrid.

Flagg

Player wanted to go to Arsenal, Madrid wanted to save money and we obliged. Will be fun this.

25 Aug 2012 15:43:35
Well Blair who would you play tomorrow instead agger.Me myself would play carra as he never lets the club down.MATTYLFC

Kelly at centre half?
5gold stars

I would play carragher. A bit of experience in a big game.

Mighty reds

Have any you seen carra lately? he wouldnt get in my sunday league team

What about Coates? He should be 3rd choice!

Hello eds please answer when will sahins medical be likely due ? Thanks {Ed002's Note - There was some coughing heard earlier and that signalled the completion of it.}

25 Aug 2012 15:34:36
anyone else wishing we had signed michu instead of swansea?

I was waiting to hear a post like this sort yourself out

Get a grip, if we had been linked with him a month ago you'd have been complaining about us signing an unknown player!

We can't sign everyone! Swansea have played really and that takes the pressure off new signings and the manager, but QPR and WHU are not representative of the EPL as a whole. They've bought some good players it seems but in Sinclair and Allen they've lost some too! Ged

When did we sign swansea ?
Tel 1949

If they finish higher than us this year maybe we should buy them hey Tel?

Michu will be a five game wonder mate

25 Aug 2012 15:33:19
Personally I much prefer the Banter Page, a lot more informative and intelligent postings as well as a lot of personal appeals, stories and support to the club and each other.
Maybe this is why the most traffic is on this site eds ? Would you agree ?
McB

25 Aug 2012 15:29:53
A loan deal for a player like Sahin will always include compensation if and when the player is sold on. Either from the selling club or the buying club if we were to purchase it would be knocked off the price. So no need for all the fuss about spending so much on a loan. Still think we need Dempsey and will be well pissed if we don't get him, after him trying to force move from the other side. Also need a poacher.
SioLFC

25 Aug 2012 15:27:15
Hey great site...i was just wandering with the signing of Sahin and possibly Dempsey, what would the team be like? obviously defence would be johnson skrtel agger enrique but just wandering how lucas allen gerrard sahin and dempsey can all play. thanks

Does it matter? Rodgers is carrying on the square pegs round holes philosophy we have at LFC....

25 Aug 2012 15:23:33
Hi Eds. Are the rumours true that we are interested in Hector Herrera? {Ed002's Note - If you listen to his agent, perhaps.}

25 Aug 2012 15:16:47
Hi Eds, I appreciate that Sahin is a great capture for the club, but, and there's alway a but, he has cost us almost as much for a season loan as It would have cost to buy Dempsey, who we could have got at least two/three years from, also Sahin has absolutely no resale value.
I also feel really sorry for Dempsey who has now cut himself adrift and the club, despite everything that has been said, have not put an offer in? Loyalty works both ways and if I remember we had exactly the same situation last season with Charlie Adam which dragged on after the transfer window, surely were better than this?

There is a chance that Sahin will love it at Liverpool and a transfer could happen at the end. We wasted far too much money on players like Aquilani who delivered nothing and cost us in the 2nd and 3rd year without playing for us.
As for Dempsey I am not sure it is clear what the problems have been, he will be a great option for us if we can get him and wouldn't be surprised to see a deal happen this week.
McB

I believe the hope is. He will fall in love with our club and he can fill the boots left by gerrard.

Jordan

Why do people do this? Why add on the wages for the loan player to make 9 million but then you don't add on the Dempsey wages to create what 13m? Also think about the quality difference.

BthekingB

25 Aug 2012 15:04:00
Eds just curious, why does BR want Sahin just on loan? Wenger wanted loan + a view to a permanent move. {Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

Suso probably needs another year to develop.

To help get us back in champs league that's why.

I believe it is because the club are hoping he will love the club and we possibly convince him to sign at the end of the season. He didn't want to leave Real permenantly! Hence the Arsenal deal didnt look as appealing.

Jordan

Well tbh i think he will b replaced next year by the mighty return of xabi alonso

I think the main reason was that RM did not want an option to buy in the terms also the player did not want to leave full time. the manager has done his bit to convince him to stay now it is down to us the fans to make him want to stay by showing him we are the best fans in the world. ray3037

Yeah, can see us buying a past his best Alonso for 15m to keep you mugs happy. Our club is becoming a joke.

25 Aug 2012 14:59:02
when we dont get a player even when we are not trying, fans are upset.
when we get players, allen who is class,
sahin even though on loan who is class, fans are still not happy, fees and wages and so on.
no pleasing some people

B O H

We are not happy because we make stupid moves. Sahin's deal is stupid...makes no sense. What is he going to add just one year? It makes sense if the player is old, but Sahin has years in front of him. What are we? The training camp for RM players?

Hell help the push for champions league

What did ba offer in one year last year and cisse, for newcastle in 6 months? Probbrneak(sp) for Fulham in 6 months? I know diffrent positions sure one bad season and players are written off on this site. So he better be an instant success or he would be hated by so called fans on this site. Probably best off to sign players for one season to appease some people and save the bitch fest calling for BRs and FSGs heads.

Quigz23

I see the no name buffon's are in. Sahin is a fantastic player and well worth the loan fee, would you prefer Adam and Spearing to play in front, i think not. If Sahin help's us get back in to the champion's league, it is a very reasonably price. And you never know he might enjoy his time here so much, he might not want to go back to Real Madrid. A Midfield 3 of Sahin-Lucas-Allen behind a front 3 of Gerrard-Borini-Suarez is really exciting. Change takes time, plz be patient, and don't worry. Si

Wat if this one year by sahin can help us get in cl.then wat would it still be stupid?

'We are not happy because we make stupid moves. Sahin's deal is stupid...makes no sense. What is he going to add just one year? It makes sense if the player is old, but Sahin has years in front of him. What are we? The training camp for RM players?'

I will never understand why the club signed Ronnie Rosenthal on loan. It wasn't as if his goals helped win the league.

Sahin is quality and hopefully will help us get a lucrative top four place. Having no option to buy clause does not mean we won't. We have a great player to help us out for a year whilst we are rebuilding and there is little risk attached. Just enjoy watching him.

Crazy Horse

Imagine if he gets us into the Champions League....or helps us to WIN the league !!
Imagine if he does all that and decides to stay on a lengthy contract.
Imagine Brendan's probably forgotten more than you know.
ANFIELDPETE

Imagine if he joins the mediocrity or is injured all season like last couple?? Lol

25 Aug 2012 14:54:53
Ed is there any chance of us signing Yaya Banana? Not sure how good he is but would love to have him on the back of my shirt

cozinoz {Ed002's Note - Not this year.}

That is the best name ever. I never have names on my shirt but I'd have that.
McB

25 Aug 2012 14:53:39
I have a feeling Henderson is going to turn out like James Milner. A work horse who's main job is going to be never stop running and create space for others. Not saying Henderson does not have talent but a player who can do this for 90mins is a great squad player.

Might be wrong.. However i like the lad and hope he does real well.

Etch

I think he is more talented than Milner (not hard) but as you say a good squad player who can fill more than one position in the team.

I hate being negative about players, but i think Henderson is average at best. He offers nothing creative in my opinion

25 Aug 2012 14:52:07
Imo We need another striker wether Carroll is sold or not!!!!! And quick!

Schurrle or Muller or Damiao or Rhodes please...

25 Aug 2012 14:51:20
ed..just saw swansea..game...two out of two..
great result...
i have a strong feeling they might finish above us..
even if they do..we have a reason..
we are on rebuilding...right ed??
GOD knows how many more seaosns...

After 2 games u think that already:S

And i thought this site had sensible posts, oh well

Have to be honest though...Swansea are so far ahead of us on the pitch at the moment...we are quite out of sorts

Get a grip soft lad

We have no chance of finishing above 2 x Mancs or Chelski... Will be amazed if we finish top 6.

25 Aug 2012 14:44:01
That is the most expensive loan deal in history. I would rather have a permenent signing for that much paying well over the odds again typical liverpool.

Go away you fool ! Sahin is the best signing of the season, an absolute steal !
Tel 1949

96k a week and £2million to real madrid for the privilege which is a standard fee that any club would pay!
spurs paid a much bigger fee for adebayor on loan last season and subsequently got the player to sign 1 year later.
also the £2million paid would reduce the buying fee if madrid chose to sell to us come may.

I'd rather have sahin for a season than adam for three -- same price!

25 Aug 2012 14:49:56
Ooh ooh ohh we've got the best midfield on the world...

DanS

When Lucas got injured and Gerrard was nursing injuries,we only had Spearing, Adam and Shelvey to call upon.We now have Allen and Sahin to share the long seasons work load, meaning we can keep an ageing Gerrard fresh,and a recovering Lucas time to work his way back to form.I can see him playing the 4 of them in difficult away games

We've got
lucas and sahin
shelvey and allen
gerrard and then
henderson

25 Aug 2012 14:49:12
eds wil sahin feature against city or will that not be done in time..redman matt {Ed002's Note - No.}

Why not Ed? Sahin is obv so good he doesn't even need 1 training session with the team! ;-) {Ed002's Note - Or registering, or international clearance.}

25 Aug 2012 14:49:03
Yea ok you'll say search button Ed, but a real up to date view of yourselves or Walcott? And would it be 2 from those 3. Or better still all 3. Suppose a lot rests on Carroll situ {Ed002's Note - I don't understand the question.}

Seems like some kind of code

6 of one half a dozen of the other

25 Aug 2012 14:45:53
How can Moyes pick up snips like Jelavic, Mirialles, Yang. I mean you do have to ask questions re. Our scoting network. And decision making

Jelavic was a slip yes, they were trying to be clever saying they'll never pay over something like 3m so they missed out to Everton. The other two, however, are not mishaps and they shouldn't even be linked to us.. especially Mirallas who is a headless chicken.

BthekingB

How can Moyes go 10 years without winning a trophy? I mean you do have to ask questions re. His tactics. And decision making

Simple...we are being charged more for the same players because on many occasions we have been known to overpay for transfers

Sure Moyes would love 100m to waste like Kenny. Oh wait, he still finished ahead of us

25 Aug 2012 14:44:21
Keep all saying the same. But just cant fathom why a club of our statures taken so long to address our need for goals

25 Aug 2012 14:42:59
do you think Assaidi will play tomorrow?

Has to get some time surely...couldn't be worse than Downing...

25 Aug 2012 14:40:27
Ed see we spent quite a lot on loan for sahin if they have to recall the player like we did for shelvey does that mean we just lost all that money? And why did we pay so much more then arsenal was going to? Don't get me wrong I'm happy with the player but I'm a bit confused over how much we payed

Cheers {Ed002's Note - If he is recalled there will be financial compensation.}

25 Aug 2012 14:37:03
well just a small note and would like some comments regarding the issue if possible :)..

no doubt that we do have a number of quality midfielders in the squad, mainly im talkin about allen lucas and shahin, yet im abit concerned regarding there physique..shahin and allen are kinda small built and lucas doesnt have much balance...in our first game, WBAs dmfs were completely dominating...anythoughts regarding that...?

If we play with carroll he'll track back as well as agger and skrtel pushing up out of defence

I think that their stature will not matter when they click, it doesn't matter how big you are if there are two team mates applying pressure with you. This is the ideal that BR wants to instill. Barcelona are often applauded for their attacking and fluent passing but what impresses me more is their desire to win the ball back. A tight, short passing game means that if you lose the ball the players are already there to regain possession.
The Hollywood Ball that we have seen far too much of in our team, usually presents the ball back to the opposition or means their defence has time to reset and deal with the ball coming in, as it is in the air for too long. It is fine with counter-attacking play but we need to look at playing a game our way than setting up to deal with the opposition every week.
We need to get back to the days (I am 39 so I remember) when it didn't matter who we played, we played our game and it was up to the opposition to try to play us.
So many teams set up with a deep defensive line and invite the play, it can be difficult to break them down but we have the players to help counter that. Even against West Brom we had a lot of chances so it is too early to panic.

Have you ever seen "Kelly's Heroes" because if you have you will appreciate "Positive vibes man, stop sending all those negative waves", Oddball said this and he does a mean impression of a dog !
Be positive, be patient, be prepared to have bad days and appreciate the good days.
McB

Excellent post there McB, well thought out, logical and sound reasoning to back up your arguments. I wish more posts were like this.

Theyre supposed to have the ball all the time silly. size wouldnt matter then.

25 Aug 2012 14:14:16
Err eds can you clarify my doubt I am new to football.i WANT TO KNOW THE MEANING OF MEDICAL

Dont laugh pls........

Gopal {Ed002's Note - It is simply a health check to see that he is clear of injury and fit. It is over when you hear the nurse say "cough".}

Sorry but i couldnt hlp but laugh. anyway Welcome =)

Cough cough cough!!

25 Aug 2012 14:11:06
ed002 do you think Sahin will be worth the money and effort for Liverpool? Were we right to pay so much? {Ed002's Note - Sahin is a good player - he suffered last year because of injury but if he stays fit he will be a good addition to the squad.}

Worth the money? {Ed002's Note - Measured how?}

25 Aug 2012 14:10:47
glad that sahin has come in all be it a little pricey for a loan but spose you have to pay that bit more for quality these days just need to get dempsey in now and id be happy with this windows buisiness. jay spearing linked to be going to help fund dempseys move which could work well for both sides, good club for jay to develop, decent fee of bout 2.5 mil for pool. forget last weeknds result, we will improve now, hope coates starts against city....redman matt

25 Aug 2012 14:10:39
Is it true that contract talks with suso has broken down? Why?

25 Aug 2012 14:09:57
Just watching the Swan V WHU match on sky and ive got to say.. no matter how frustrating it is at the moment, if Rodgers gets the players we have playing as well as Swansea do.. We will win things!.. The passing and movement is esquisite at times.
Laudrup will do well this season because of the position Rodgers left them in.

25 Aug 2012 14:34:51
Eds if real Madrid needed a player due to a lot of injuries for example would they be able to take sahin back part way through the season or does he have to stay in Liverpool because it's a 1 year loan?

Ashy {Ed052's Note - Loan deals often include a call back clause - I'm not sure if there is one in this deal.}

25 Aug 2012 14:21:12
Hi Ed's do you think there is any chance of Sahin having an appearance tomorrow (even if its on the bench)? {Ed052's Note - no}

25 Aug 2012 14:07:12
Swansea showing how well the pass and move game can operate, some moan its five yards sideways, backwards etc, but it makes for great possession football which if done correctly leads to opening teams up. They look very strong today. Barca esq

Much more penetration than under Buck tbh.

25 Aug 2012 13:57:45
hey lfc fans...

if there is 1 team..that i really hope liverpool beat comfortably....its SWANSEA!!..why?

because laudrap is such an arrogant piece of trash....the audacity of the man when he said none of our players would get into his team, and that none of ours were better!
who does he think he is?? swansea have had 1 season...they dont even come close to liverpool..despite all the crap that has gone on over the years at our club...

pff

red lobster

When did he say that?

Laudrup is also a Liverpool supporter

Great player, good manager, cheap talk.

25 Aug 2012 13:54:51
Afellay on loan from Barcelona next loan move. Possible?

Laudrup an arrogant piece of trash ??
What nonsense is this?
Rodgers is not fit to lace his boots !
As a player he was sublime.
He looks pretty good as a manager.
It was Roberto Martinez who laid the foundations of Swansea.

ove the moon with the arrival of sahin, a massive stepping stone for LFC.
let's hope the adoring kop sways his mind half way through the season (and real madrid) and he's allowed to sign permanantly.

on a side note, it will be a great education for players like shelvey, hendo and hopefully if he does go back to real madrid some youngsters such as suso and texeirea will be just about ready to join the 1st team and fill the void. i'm hoping this is how brendan rodgers sees it too.

if dempsey arrives late in the window i will have no complaints about the shaping of the lfc squad.

s.p

Completely agree. You outline the reasons why I believe we are paying a lot for him.

Further, the fact we can get this type of player shows we are going forward. Hopefully this could encourage 'big players' to come, if needed and could steer for Sahin coming to us permanently hopefully.

25 Aug 2012 13:50:29
ed's what's the situation witb agger...staying or going? {Ed002's Note - Right now he appears to be staying.}

25 Aug 2012 13:40:10
Ed002's you said earlier that we are paying in the region of €6.3m with €2.8m of this linked to his wages, plus a further loan fee of €2.8m to Real Madrid, agent fees & insurance. Excuse my ignorance but seems a lot of money for a season when we have no buy option? at the end for him. Especially when you consider Real Madrid only payed €10m for him. {Ed002's Note - It seems a lot to everyone, including his agent.}

25 Aug 2012 13:35:01
EDs do you know if there is any clause in the Sahin deal where it allows us to buy the player at the end of the loan deal? Thanks.

Luke JFT96 {Ed002's Note - There isn't.}

25 Aug 2012 13:34:21
I really wouldnt mind Sturridge, in a way I see him similar to Torres, he is fast, strong, has some skill and can score goals.
I really believe if played centrally (will rotate as the system works but mainly the striker) he could score a fair few goals for us, he scored a few for Chelsea and can definitely finish.
Ofcourse like all players he needs to work on his game and can be too greedy, but for a striker if that is channeled properly it could be a very important trait
Would fit well in BR's system and with the right influence I believe could be an important player.

25 Aug 2012 13:21:13
Real Madrid paid €10 million euros for Nuri Sahin in the last year of his contract.Mourinho thinks a lot of the player. however, Sahin has had a number of injuries in the first year of his time in Madrid and Real are loaning him so he gets back up to speed.

Mourinho sees him as a replacement for Alonso in the long term. Xabi' s contract is up in 2014 and both Real and Xabi are reluctant to extend it. Xabi will be 32 nearly 33 when the contract expires and Real reluctant to renew for a player of that age. Xabi on the other hand has indicated that he would like to return to Liverpool or finish his career at Real Sociedad. Therefore, it is expected that Xabi will leave Real Madrid next summer while he still commands a fee.

This is the reason Real Madrid did not want to include a sell option in the contract with Arsenal.

Now, it will not stop us making a bid for Sahiin next summer.

Rodgers is setting the style of the club and buying players that will fit into this style. So when Sahin leaves next summer, then Rodgers will look at a player with similar characteristics to takeover. In this case then Alonso maybe a viable replacement next summer. Very little disruption will happen as the style of the team is what counts not who the player is.

Those complaining about the loan cost, then 5 million would equate to a cost of 20 million over 4 years contract. Sahin is worth far more than that. remember United paid 16 million for Kagawa in his final year of his contract, 24 million for RVP in his last year. Sahin was a much better player than Kagawa when at Dortmund.

if we are truely looking at a carroll replacement as it has been suggested, do you think we'll look to get sturridge? also, don't you think it would be a good move to get a proven goal scorer, maybe even an older player we can have for a year or two till the likes of borini and sturridge (assuming he arrives) develop into consistent scorers? maybe david villa or defoe. even more ambitious i would like to see dzeko or llorente.

The Anfield club stole a march on their north London counterparts by offering far more lucrative terms in their bid to bring the Real Madrid playmaker to Merseyside

Hi eds! Somebody posted that there was someone on ssn saying liverpool were in trouble i have looked everywhere for info on this but have not found anything has anyone got any idea what there on about? And do u think unless we sell now thats t'he end of our transfer actvity has rodgers was quoted as saying he has used his transfer funds because we desperatly need more fire power upfront? Thanks for your time!! King kenny {Ed002's Note - I really know nothing of what was said.}

It was when they were talking to sky et about this weekends odds and the guy said all is not happy at Liverpool {Ed002's Note - I have no idea what he was referring to.}

It was a guest who was talking about all the fixtures

SSN try to give the impression that there are problems at LFC? This is a shocker, true headline stuff...

Flagg

Somebody from STAN JAMES who was
pricing the games up,he said that all is
not well at ANFIELD and he could only see a MAN. CITY win perhaps there is
stuff going on behind the scenes which
we don't know about,you only have to look at the bench last weekend to see
there's a lot of players not happy,the
whole ANDY CARROLL scenario has been
handled appallingly.

Liverpool missed out in not signing Huntelaar two seasons ago. Similarly Liverpool have missed out on Adam Johnson who would have filled a problem position that Liverpool have not addressed for a long time.

It was a rep from stan james bookmakers I believe

Being as they didn't persue Huntelaar two seasons ago they can't have missed out.

AJ signed for SAFC so quickly it's obvious that's where he wanted to be, just like Allen and us no one else got a look in! We have signed a winger in Assaidi and it looks like BR has faith in Downing who is just lacking confidence.

BR did well with Routledge at Swansea maybe he can build Dowening back up as well, he obviously thinks so as we have shown no inclination to move him on this summer! GED

Hey eds

Aside from Dempsey, do u expect another forward/strike to join, even if we don't sell andy caroll?

Thanks
Lucas {Ed002's Note - Not if Carroll is not sold.}

I've heard that the reason we did'nt sign Adam Johnson is that we are in for Matt Phillips of Blackpool, cheaper option but in my opinion will be a better buy.

SteTheRed

Phillips has great potential

A couple of things - I'm not too bothered that we havn't got the option to buy Sahin - if he pulls on the shirt and hears the fans and enjoys LIVERPOOL as much as Alonso then he will want to stay. Another thing - BR has signed enough players. He has has enough to make him impression on the team for this transfer window - so lets see what happens - over the next 15 games. Then we can judge him and not before! I am optimistic and think over the season he will do very well.

All managers need 2 seasons to realistically assess them, 15 games to pass judgement is a joke, especially as many players aren't his own buys. Give Brendan a decent amount of time before passing judgement, we will be glad that we did.

25 Aug 2012 13:08:17
I think Mourinho want back Sahin next year as Alonso not renew his contract and he is in his last year in Real.

"{Ed002's Note - I have no idea why Liverpool are paying so much to take Sahin. Fazeli was as suprised how large the offer was.}

It's simple, ed: Liverpool wanted their man and were prepared to stop at nothing to get him.
They deemed the cost worthy in light of the potential benefits.

Nuri Sahin is a world class footballer. He can give the team 10+ goals in the league, and does an exceptional job of providing assists.

Come May 2013, we may be back in the CL, with Sahin having played a massive staring role in that. The largesse we'll get for CL qualification will make his £5m cost pale into insignificance.

I believe those are the considerations that informed the decision to go all-out for him. Potential rewards far greater than cost.
There's another way of looking at it.

If you were offered Messi for 12 months at, say, £10m, would you decline? Absolutely no you wouldn't. Being pragmatic, you would recognize that Messi could get you 25-30 goals during that time, and just as half, if not more, assists.
He'd literally single-handedly win more games than you would have without him; he'd win titles, rendering his cost fee a mere irrelevance.
So you bite off Barca's hand.

That's how I see it. Value. Personally, I see it working out brilliantly. Nuri will more be than value for money and LFC justified in their decision, come May.

He'll make our new system tick, raise the game of his colleagues and, vitally, create a number of and score his own goals.
You sit back and watch.

BARNEY

Love the overhype. Sahin is not the kind of player who can get us into CL. Sahin is the kind of player who will help a team that has few world class players and they work together. We don't! We only have Suarez. It's like when we had Alonso. Alonso without Mascherano, Gerrard and Torres would have made no meaning to the squad.

It makes me laugh, arsene wenger said a couple of seasons back that he was the best youngster in europe. in his last season at borussia dortmund he created 4 TIMES the amount of chances that kagawa did, but man utd have supposedly got a steal paying £16million in his last year of his contract!
lfc come in and pay him a big sum because he could well be the cog that's missing and the world wants to question it!
no one questions abramovich paying hazard, torres & co astronomical wages?
no one questions levy sanctioning wages of a reported £5.46million a year for adebayor?
no one bats an eye lid at van persie at man utd (£220k a week and £24million fee) or dzeko getting £175k a week on the bench at city along with about ten others doing the same!
but, lfc make a big move after massively reducing the wage bill that could potentially put them back in champions league contention and the world has to pull it to pieces.

the owners have backed their manager to the best of their ability in a deal that could be pulled off with sahin.
snippets have been released but who knows what is actually contracted between lfc and real madrid over sahin?
he may be only a loan at this point but it's progress and a hint that the club's ability to compete and it's appeal is still there.

Sahin is a fantastic player, a genuine worldy

Juan Manuel Vargas and Clint Dempsey in.
Jay Spearing out.

Also from reserves Nathan Eccleston, Daniel Pacheco out. Danny Wilson out on Loan.

If we manage the above in addition to what we've already done in this transfer window, I will be very very happy.

25 Aug 2012 12:50:59
Great news that Sahin has been signed for the season atleast! There is major talk of letting both Adam and Spearing go. I honestly hope that Adam is retained. He's a good back-up CM to have in the squad. Especially this season as we are playing Europa. Last year selling Meireles was a mistake as its a long long season. Last year out of desperation we had to call back Shelvey, which gave us 6 players (Adam, Gerrard, Henderson, Lucas, Shelvey, Spearing) in the midfield to choose from. This year with Europa we'll need atleast 7.
Thus I hope we are sensible and keep Adam giving us the necessary 7 midfielders (Adam, Gerrard, Henderson, Lucas, Shelvey, Sahin, Allen).

Or let Adam go and bring Suso to be the seventh midfielder

25 Aug 2012 12:42:50
Ed I posted yesterday but my posts never seem to be up. Post this on rumours page please. Now that sahib has signed, with our current squad what do you think the midfield 3 will be , who will make way for sahin , will gerrard be pushed out to the wing ? As I see it gerrard Lucas and Allen should all be gaurenteed a starting place, I just don't see where sahin will fit in. Personally I think gerrard will be pushed out to the wing. As our squad stands , who do you think our front 3 and midfield 3 will be ? {Ed001's Note - why would I post this on rumours? Stop wasting our time, it is not a rumour!}

My ideal Squad for this season- Players in ( ) are players we could buy :)

GK - Reina, (Butland)

RB - Johnson, Kelly

LB - Enrique, Robinson

CB- Skrtel, Coates

CB- Agger, Wilson

CM - Lucas, Shelvey

CM - Allen, Henderson

CM - Sahin, Gerrard

RF - Suarez, Downing

CF - (Dempsey), Borini

LF - Assaidi, Sterling

Then we could sell the likes of Adam, Cole, Carroll, Spearing, Jones to make it a good Transfer window. Or at least thats my thoughts anyway.

Plus we'd still have the likes of Flanagan, Wisdom, Sama, Coady, Suso, Morgan, Ngoo to bring more into for the following seasons aswell as a good british core with a touch of continental to add to the mix, Plus Carragher can play along side the young defenders on the training pitch to help them grow by passing on good advice.

Cheers UCCM

Reina 8/10
Johnson 8/10
Agger 8/10
Skrtel 8/10
Enrique 7/10
Allen 8/10
Lucas 8/10
Sahin 8/10
Gerrard 8/10
Suarez 8/10
Borini 7/10
5=average
6=above average
7=good
8=very good
9=in a class with Messi
10= in a class with Maradona a lot of people over rate man city & man united. Suarez is in class with Aguero. We won't be on their level until we sign a proven goal scorer though but Suarez got 17 last year & I think with Lucas Sahin & Allen in the midfield he could get 20 this year. I think I'm being realistic. Opinions please.

We actually have a very good squad. it's just that they dont perform consistently in the league

Messi better than Maradona

Do any of the eds know of how much we had to pay to real madrid for sahin and what % of his wages we are paying?
thanks! {Ed002's Note - Liverpool are paying £5M to the player including 2.8M euros for wages. There is then a loan fee to Real MAdrid (about 2.75M euro) plus VAT, agent fees and VAT on agent fees and insurance.}

Almost 8 mill?? for one season...
great business...excellent talent...
arsene wenger is really a smart guy..no doubt..
real madrid are always very very lucky..
infact they say ac making us fool with aquilaini..so same goes here...

Let's hope he scores a stunner v Arsenal
to start recouping some of that £10mil then!
Knowsley Red

Yet people still come on posting about how the owners won't invest! They clearly have and I think ed002 has on more than one occasion clearly stated just how much, not just in purchases but in paying off players contracts etc, I think we have responsible owners whom clearly will want a return on their investment and they know that will only come from success on and off the pitch!let's get behind them ,the manager and every player that pulls on the red shirt
Your thoughts ed002 would be welcome?
Boofs bro

Wow mate now we need striker who can score 25+ goals I'm sure if we offer another season loan for higuain and pay 13/15 million euro I'm sure madrid will be eager to do bussiness and we get striker who will push us for top4. Like the strategy from owners

ED002 talking his usual nonsense yet again. An embarrassment to the site !

Bill S {Ed002's Note - There seems to be a lot of abuse today, but unlike the coward from Wrexham at least you signed your post. It is a pity you find it so easy to say it is nonsense and I am an embarrassment without explaining what was wrong with what I said and why I am embarrassing to the site. I would have thought more embarrassing are those Liverpool fans spewing hate at the players, the manager and the owners after every draw or loss. Those who refer to Liverpool players as deadwood. Or those who defaced Anfield in trying to force a previous manager from the club. Perhaps those who made threats against previous owners, and those that threatened the children of an RBS director. But no, you see me as an embarrassment. Fine.}

Point taken
However I'm sure if the manager had asked for a 25 goal a season striker he would have got one+ £10mil on borini! Is he not mayb the 25goal striker BR has brought in!
Boofs bro

Bil S how dare you call ed2 embarrassing coz of them we enjoy this site mate I just hope you realise you mistake and apologise

Ed u dona great job and if they think ur crap then they can stop reading the site

I love how every fan thinks they know better than people that work in football, that are experts in the field.

If you are so Great at knowing what we need go and get a job in football and lets see how long you last.

Ed002, Well said. Unfortunately there are good and bad fans at every club.
Most are decent, humorous, good natured fans but some just let the side down for everyone associated with the club.
This site has kept me sane for nearly 2 years solid because I can no longer go to games much at the moment....
The banter is fantastic, as are all the editors and I cannot speak highly enough of the site....

With the signing of Sahin, coupled with Allen already brought in this summer, and the return of Lucas, our midfield is starting to look very very good indeed. Much needed class and ball retention has been added, along with visionary passing skills. Add to this the emergence of excellent youth players in Suso and Sterling, the future looks bright.
For me, certain players in our squad will now move on, but they move on with our support and thanks, with hope in their hearts, let's not be lowering ourselves with talk of 'deadwood' anymore.
Another interesting question is this. Where does Gerrard fit with all this? (cue the trolls to jump all over my following thoughts...) Personally, I would think that minutes on the pitch will be reduced this season, as for me, he's been coasting for a couple of seasons, and certainly isn't the player we all worshipped not too long ago. For Rodgers system to work, he needs to put much more work in on the pitch, but his ego sometimes stops that happening, and he has a tendency to blame others around him for mistakes. There's no doubting what he's achieved for this club, and he'll always be a legend, but I think he's actually holding back the development of others now. Discuss....
A prolific goalscorer wouldn't go amiss now ahead of the trials ahead, but positivity breeds confidence, which in turn breeds results, so stay happy and strong fellow reds, keep up the legendary support which has made us famous over the years.

The captain

25 Aug 2012 12:24:19
Brendon rodgers has now bought in 4 players totaling up to 35 million;
compare that with Kenny Daglish who got in 6 players who gave him a total above 120 million(Suarez is included in that figure)

Considering everyone slating Rodgers I think thats pretty good business hes done there..now unless Rodgers buys two more players who are worth more than 70 million I think if he adds a striker hes had a very good transfer window compared with Daglish last season who wasted 100 million on poor signings(excluding Suarez)

Imagine if it were Rodgers who had that 100 million to spend hed find great gems as well as players who would add and fit to his system.

I fully back Rodgers and so should all fellow reds!

Keep up the good work as always Eds and fellow Reds alike. YNWA LFC87

Borini has misfired so far, We are yet to see Sahin and Assuadi play for us and Joe Allen has played one game (and looked pretty good). I appreciate your positivity and optimism but maybe wait at least half a season before declaring BRs signings a success or not. The fact that BR hasn't yet sold any of Dalglish's "poor signings" suggests they might not be as poor as you believe.

cozinoz

Or are they that poor nobody wants them????

KD recouped more than half of that half of that 120 amount you mentioned...

25 Aug 2012 12:20:51
Hi eds and gents,
What's everyone's fixation with cm's leaving now we've got sahin?

We got sahin because we are gonna be playing 3 in the middle so require atleast 6 cm's to cover and rotate and I personally still think we're short on reliable quality.

Adam and spearing are not good enough to be starting 11 so granted should be sold but with gerrard battle worn from years of carrying us and Lucas just back from serious injury it only leaves us Allen, henderson, Shelvey and sahin and if I'm not mistaken wasn't sahin injured most of last season?

So I personally think if anymore cm's are to leave they need to be replaced to give us adequate depth.

Same applies to forwards we need Carroll to stay plus bring in Dempsey/Walcott

Just my humble opinion, thanks for reading.

Gary, ynwa

eds what forwards are liverpol interested in? {Ed002's Note - Certainly Dempsey.}

25 Aug 2012 12:15:50
Hi Edds
I know Sahin is only on loan but! We have alot of Midfielders do you expect to see any leave the club this window?
Personally I wouldn't like to see Henderson leave or Shelvey but I do believe that Adam and Spearing maybe pointless this comming season maybe Sell Adam and Loan Spearing?
Any inside scoop on any of this?
Cheers
Harry In Wiltshire {Ed002's Note - I think you may have it right Harry. Perhaps even a sale for Spearing.}

I think sahin will leave next summer i just got that feeling

25 Aug 2012 12:00:26
Are we still in for vargas {Ed002's Note - Interest seems to have waned.}

25 Aug 2012 12:00:11
I know hes a good player when i watched him at dortmund lets hope he does well this season for liverpool be good if he made a move perminant in future.

25 Aug 2012 11:59:00
Sahin now secured, excellent. Now tie Agger down and get in Dempsey and perhaps Theo and we are all set.
Personally, I think it's been a very good summer. No doubt Suarez penning a new deal was most crucial as well as Sahin's capture, which certainly comes as a massive boost for all.

We've significantly reduced our wage bill and gotten younger.

=Allen> Spearing
=Sahin> Adam (hopefully)
=Assaidi> Maxi
=Borini
=Dempsey> Carroll (hopefully)
=Walcot> Kuyt

There's pace there, creativity, energy, flair and goals.
I know there's doubts over Walcot, but the lad has quality. He score them as well as create. Obviously his footballing grey matter could do with much refinement, which I'd trust Brendan to do with success. Theo's that player who can get you 12-15+ a season, and just as many assists.

Dempsey, we HAVE to get this bloke. Technically flawless and a team player, he's proved his goalscoring merits. Honestly, had we had him last season, we'd have been right up there.
I wouldn't put it past him bagging 20+ for us.

Sahin as well has assists and goals in him.
Stevie too I think could chip in with 10 or more. But I've a hunch that Borini could just be we top goalscore. The kid has a predatory aura about. His mobility, runs and the way he takes his goals is very impressive.
He'll stun many this season.

Overall, I don't think we should struggle for goals this season. If we get Theo and Clint in addition to those already here, we'll have goalscorers all over the pitch.
Don't forget as well that there's Johnson, a type of fullback capable of 5-10 a season. Hoping he stays fit. He'll be immense for us, especially with the way we're now seeking to play our game.

There's the kiddies as well. Suso and Raheem are class acts of exceptional talent. Raheem, in particular, could be very important, and should NOT be sent out on loan.
Yes, he won't be starting every game. But such is his ability and impact that he won't need 90 minutes to change a match, only just a fraction of that, so 10 or so minute cameos will be enough.

I'm very, very excited. I just want to see us playing football week in week out, the beautiful way, and putting together some winning streak. That hot and cold stuff of last season was just damaging to the healthy.

Now bring in Clint and Theo and we'll be good to go.
Now I'm positive the former will come in, but not so sure on the latter. Could Theo happen, eds?

Don't worry, lads, we'll be all set, soon.

BARNEY

Very good post agree with everything you said especially about Walcott

Larki

If we need to sell to buy, shouldn't we be getting on with it? When we left it all to the last day previously we ended up paying £35m out of desperation!

It's not just as easy as saying 'we should sell' - there has to be someone willing to buy.

25 Aug 2012 11:53:45
"don't let your players legs go on your pitch, move them on so they go on someone else's" Bob Paisley

Is it time for BR to be strong with Carra and Stevie G?

Give the others room to kick on
Great managers in our past made those decisions.
For me all good signings, move on Adam and spearing and get us a goalscorer.
Most worrying, no developments with stadia, we need the revenues that a greater capacity would bring
PistolPete

Maybe Carra but Gerrard can still offer to this team. Maybe not every game but he can still change a game. I'd bench him and use him as an impact sub.

Just looked back on the responses on my post about gerrard last night. I knew it would ruffle a few feathers but I am still astonished how people think he should be the first name on the team sheet these days.
We held him back for years I agree.
That's also what's caused the problem.
His fitness has severly suffered as a result and the last couple of owners/managers have sucked up to him to try keep the only decent player at the club, giving him more and more power and influence.
He's now considered un droppable.
No player should ever be un droppable.
He needs to be rotated now with the rest of the midfield.
He can still do a great job for us but in smaller and smaller doses.
Save him for when he's at his best and fittest.
Dempsey and sahin can do his job and do it better these days.
He is the only reason we have had any success?
The champs league and the FA cup yes.
He has done nothing for a few years now.
He's my favourite all time player but we need to put sentiment aside now and again.

MIKEY

Just thought he line his ego is holding us the club back was a bit inflammatory. You where always going to get negative responses with a statement like that.
Jonson
Ps much better way of putting your argument across them last night imo

Agree. BR likes to play with 1 DM and 2 attacking CMs. i love the sound of

Lucas
Sahin - Allen

Every player should get his place on performances, nobody should be immune!
Hope this is the case this year!
It should hopefully keep everyone on their toes.
Just hope Brendan has the character to do it!

Hi Eds, do you think the two main targets right now are Dempsey and Sturridge? {Ed002's Note - Certainly Dempsey.}

25 Aug 2012 11:50:46
Hi Eds

Just looking at Brendons philosophy with regards to the signings and the style of play!
Analysing the last game you can see the system emerging and what he is requesting from the players. We ask why we want so many midfield players and the answer is simple, we did not have the right caliber of players at the club when he arrived, his philosophy is as we all know very similar to Barcelona's, that is keeping the ball from the opposition, and retrieving possession of the ball as quick as possible when the ball is lost, this requires players who dont give the ball away and who are mobile and quick enough to get the ball back.
Looking at last years midfield its apparent that the players dont fit the mould. This was apparent in the first half in the week, only when Joe allen came on did we start to keep the ball, also bringing on Downing helped as he very rarely lost the ball.
It was apparent to all of us how frustrated Reina was when Charlie Adam and Shelvey lost the ball in the later stages, hence immediately putting us under pressure. Reina probably knows this style better than most playing with spain. With the Benitez formation the midfielders were regimented in their positioning, not moving far from their given positions thus any period when the ball was lost they were in position to defend. Rodgers relies on his midfielders to be mobile always looking for space to receive the ball (watch Joe Allen). The problem with this method is that if you lose the ball you are out of position and prone to the counter attack (west Brom last week, barcelona v chelsea). Therefore Rodgers knew he required players who are very mobile and have pass rates above 90%. If you look at the players we have bought they all fit the mould, none more than Sahin and that is why players like Shelvey, Adam, Spearing, Henderson and even to a point Gerrard do not fit the bill for our midfield, basically they are a liability to our team, due to their pass rate, that is why Gerrard will play higher up the pitch.
This is the reason why BR said there will be more games like last week, until we get the right players in, who can pass and move with with rates above 90% then we will always be prone to the counter attack.

Time will tell whether the system will work but when you have Reina, Agger, Allen, Sahin, Lucas, Gerrard, Borini, Downing who are all comfortable on the ball it has a great chance.

Maybe another striker and we will once again (given time) compete with the best

I say give BR a chance and a little patience and he will succeed, how good will it be competing with the best and also playing the Barcelona way, as the saying goes "all good things come to those who wait".

Evered

25 Aug 2012 11:50:25
I really feel that BR is putting together a strong group of players and I am really looking forward to see how he develops the team and how they play - irrespective of the result tomorrow. I would be happier though if he added a top quality forward such as Soldado.

Very very excited about the season now, with sahins amazing ability to pick out a through ball and Suarez and borini and hopefully Dempsey getting on the end of them I can see goals. Just hope he can cope with the pace of the epl. Also looking forward to seeing assaidi.

Blimey we get a top player on loan in Nuri Sahin when for most of last week it looked like we would lose him to arsenal. What's the reaction from some on here moan moan about how much we have paid then slagging off the owners for not spending any money. Who cares what it cost its not your money and club can afford it now we have got rid of some of the high earners from the wage bill. Basically just look forward to seeing Liverpool play with a team capable of pushing for a top 4 finish if we can add Dempsey or Sturridge then i will be happy. So cheer up and be positive for a change.

Why fans are being double standard. When some fans were saying we should buy x players and everyone was saying you should support another team or there is no quick fix or we can't afford wages or trolls, moaners etc etc what has change in Sahin case YOU SHOULD FEEL ASHAME OF YOURSELF

Sahin could be a quick fix is a player of sublime quality that Liverpool have been fortunate to get for a season allowing some weaker inexperienced players more time to develop, this is a big change for the positive.Liverpool can't afford sahin long term without champions league and he would not want to stay at such a club. But a fan can't just up sticks and go and support real Madrid. The concerns were justified and even Rodgers was biting his nails, sahin is the quality and top level game experience this team needed to compete with arsenal and spurs this season.

So what is your point?

We moan because we want our team to succeed, unlike you who doesn't give a toss if we are going from bad to worse the last 4 years. Quick fix? It's been 4 years of constant mistakes. Wasting money here and there. The new owners gave money for players they want to sell this year. We are a laughing stock, are you happy with that?

Nonsense . Sahin is a bargain .

TheScarf

Ed now wages are no problem can we take higuain on loan as we need striker who can score 25+ goals mate or cavani or falcao coz if we start giving teams 8/10 million for season loan then I am sure they will be more eager to do bussiness then us mate what do you think

25 Aug 2012 11:46:55
Liverpool will have to ship out some midfielders for wingers and a striker, wingers - Pacheco sterling assaidi downing
joe cole - a mixed bag
Centre mids - gerrard Allen Adam Henderson Sahin Lucas shelvey
Strikers - Suarez borini Carroll(outofsorts)

They have the right amount of wingers, 1-2 too many midfielders and clearly lack strikers (obviously not counting Morgan or ecclestone).

There is also the forgettable spearing in midfield to be shipped out

Guy on Ssn this morning saying Liverpool are struggling and that all is not good at anfield. Is there any thing in this ed's {Ed002's Note - I have no idea. Sorry.}

It's just scare mongering aimed at bringin down Liverpool. Just don't listen to that crap mate.

Can't be too bad if players like Suarez and Skrtel are commiting to the club.

Mighty reds

Easy to answer that one.lfc made a trading loss in 2002 since then lfc have bumped along the bottom making more loss,es,lfc have survived cause the owners including H&G have pumped money in.for various reasons this has failed to improve the quality of the squad and infact the squad has declined.the fsg consortium has pumped a lot of money in to rectify this situation,but due to several factors (a lack of understanding of european football,wrong people appointed to key roles,and most alarmingly poor oversight and supervision by fsg of the day to day running of the club)but the critical and over-riding problem that now exists is,j.w.henry would have produced a business plan/prospectus to entice investors into the consortium,the amount of investment from potential suitors would have been made clear from the offset with a slight + and - built in for safety margins.it is becoming clear that the maximum amount of investment agreed according to the prospectus has been met by the investors, in simple terms the money man is dead,and the reason for the drastic tightening of the financial belt,whether some investors can be convinced to plough more money in or cut their losses remains to be seen,but eitherway lfc and j.henry are in a very precarious position,CL qualification is paramount,and must happen every year,the hands are begining to sweat and if cl qualification doesnt happen this year or next the sh-t will hit the fan

Your right just hate people slating our beloved club.

He was a Coral betting analyst who was just filling his space spouting the usual crap about how much Rodgers is under pressure. He certainly had no inside track or information to support his claim citing that the majority of Pool fans would be ready to turn on Rodgers at the first sign of City dominance. He even had the cheek to state they were running a price on the Kop chanting to Brendan " you dont know what your doing." Vile filth from from a ignorant man. My advice would be to steer clear of Coral if this is the choice of 'professional' they chose to represent them. Then again I was watching a web site at the time lol!

Ed2 mate you have always sayed that we are looking long term rather then short term and every fan has been saying the same and deffending the owners by saying we can't afford wages etc etc now what has changed in sahin case plz can you explain mate {Ed002's Note - I have no idea why Liverpool are paying so much to take Sahin. Fazeli was as surprised how large the offer was.}

Dats mean we can compete in term of wages etc.stop complaining a lot.if BR can turn flops into good players it'll be enough.

Is paying 5m for a year any different to paying 25m for 5? We'd pay wages anyway, and this way we get real quality without a massive initial outlay. I feel it's a real coup for us and Arsenal to be competing for the same player and them coming to us. Shows us as desirable for leading players - no bad thing given the obsession with CL football.

Blind panic and the nessesity for CL qualification thats why

To above poster sahin wages are 120+

25 Aug 2012 11:38:24
BR final and only other signing before this transfer window shuts will be Dempsey, they're will definatley be no major last minute world class loan deal either.

Adam and Spearing will be sold or could both be part of the deal to bring in Dempsey.

Carroll has insisted that he ain't going anywhere and has told BR that he intends to fight for his place, BR has told Carroll that his only involvement will be from the bench, but Carroll insists he's happy, so expect Carroll to stay for now..

BR has a lot of faith in young Raheem Sterling and predicts a special opening season for the young fellow...

I think Borini has potential. Already bagged a goal, and hit the post. He seems to get into scoring positions atleast 3 times per game, and when he is confident, that will be worth a goal every other game. i could see him bagging 14 -15 in the league this year. However, right now, I think we need another striker of even higher quality. Dempsey is not a true striker, so he cannot simply be Carroll's replacement. Who? I haven't the foggiest. Sturridge would look good in starting 11, but would he be effective??

25 Aug 2012 11:27:13
Mornin eds, now we have sahin, wil we have an option to buy him at the end of the season? {Ed002's Note - No.}

Actually Eds the answer is yes, every single report coming up says we have a 14 million buy clause in the package. {Ed002's Note - Every single report eh?}

25 Aug 2012 11:26:55
Hi Eds, do you know if the Sahin loan deal contains ano optIon to buy at the end of the season and if so for what price?

Many Thannks

25 Aug 2012 11:26:15
Im starting to have serious doubts about our owners.
If it's true that we have no more money to spend then it begs the question why not.I mean how much did rodgers have to spend,as i think im right in saying we still had money from the meireles sale.It proves there not willing to put theire own money into the club.As for the stadium,isnt about time we had an answer as of what there going to do.Strikes me as abit dodgy to say the least.We need investment if we're ever to challenge at the top again.They obviously have a great PR team,but i just dont see them pushing the club forward. {Ed002's Note - You think that there is an envelope somewhere with the money from the sale of RM?}

Put an absolute shed load of their own money into the team last year to complete failure, so I can understand if they don't want to put any more in. By the looks of it Rodgers will have a net spend of less than 30 mil, isn't that about right if the money is coming from finishing in the mid table last season? Results lead to more income, and Rodgers def has the team to do it without further investment (more trimming would do the squad some good tbh) but it will take a few weeks to get it together.

Why should they put their own money in when we should offload players who are not good enough, you wouldn't buy a new car before selling your old one?

Good god the site is full of MUPPETS

Rodgers has already spent 28 million this season 4th highest amount in the prem league and that doesn't include the cost for the sahin deal which according to ed2 (and i believe him/her) is more than the 5 million being reported by the press so that pushes us well over the 30 million mark and i wouldn't be surprised to see at least 1 more signing, so how have the owners not been spending money?? and also how was the money from the mereiles sale not used on the 50 odd million that dalglish spent last season on henderson, adam, downing, enrique etc

I thought it was in a sack with a £ on it?

25 Aug 2012 11:25:43
Hi Eds. The loan for Sahin, does this include a buy at the end? So much speculation. Thanks, Lee {Ed002's Note - No.}

25 Aug 2012 11:22:22
Hi Ed002, do you have sny idea of the details of Sahin's loan? How much we are paying him, paying Madrid or any other payments to Sahin? I understand Liverpools offer was doublethat of Arsenals. Cheers

The Irish Rover {Ed002's Note - I explained yesterday what was being paid to the player to cover wages and "other costs" - and it is more than double what Arsenal agreed. Add to that the loan fee, VAT on the loan fee, agent fees, VAT on the agent fees and Insurance. It is costing enough.}

25 Aug 2012 11:20:31
Who's on charge of our finances?? Is it mickey mouse? I can't help but feel that we get bent over every season in regards to transfers and loans!

Is it your money? why do you care as long as the business is being run correctly and is in a stable position then i dont care how much money FSG deem to spend on any deal all i want to see is the players on the pitch that can do a job and sahin is more than capable of doing that he's a fantastic player.

if you buy an apple laptop do you care how much money apple spend on research and development, marketing, advertising etc for that laptop? NO all you care about is that you get a quality laptop and that apple run their company in a way that keeps them in business to keep providing you with that product, liverpool is the same as long as FSG keep the club running in the right way all i want to see is the end product on the pitch and sahin IS a quality product

Come on mate. British players cost more and British clubs expect more. Kenny wanted a British core of players hence the high transfer fees. Borrini was a good deal and upon reflection, Suarez was a bargain. This is surely evidence that regardless over the over-inflated high transfer fees that the club HAD to pay, it proves that at one time they did have faith in Kennys ability to spot talent. Remember, they are not as naive as they once were.

DaveyBootle

Only Chelki and Arsenal and Man Utd have spent more than us

Shut up complaining ForF**kSake . You just can't win with the moaners on this site, you are damned if you do and damned if you don't !

25 Aug 2012 11:11:06
With Sahin coming in, do you expect Rodgers to divert to a different formation because of the amount of centre mids in the squad? maybe Sahin could play in the front three? Also, what do you think will happen with Shelvey? Thanks.

Luke JFT96

I replied to this eds why not been put up?
Greaty {Ed002's Note - No idea, sorry.}

25 Aug 2012 17:51:55
I expect Rogers to play a diamond formation with Gerrard at the top and Lucas at the bottom with sahin & Allen either side. I believe he will the play Suarez to the left of Gerrard and borini to the right. He would like to bring in Dempsey to rotate with Gerrard and Walcott/sturridge to rotate with borini. I feel he will use sterling to cover Suarez forward left position. Obviously Dempsey could also cover all forward positions. If Dempsey and Walcott/sturridge happen will have been a great summer. I'd personally just be happy with Dempsey on top of the signings already made. Well done Macca always in the know! Also we seem to have another person worth listening too in Maisey. Along with the very knowledgeable Eds of course!
Greaty

25 Aug 2012 11:10:50
i don't understand how people keep thinking that because rodgers and mourinho worked together and are friends that we are going to get this deal and that deal from real madrid, now i may be wrong and maybe ed 002 will set me straight but any deals for any madrid player is surely done by the managing director (or CEO or president whatever their job title is) and the board at madrid are going to get the best deal for their club that they can regardless of the relationship their manager has with the other club, there may be a chance that mourinho would convince the board to listen to offers from liverpool because of his realtionship with rodgers (which may be what happened with the sahin deal) but in terms of transfer fees, loan fees and the like then we are in no better position to negotiate than any other team {Ed002's Note - Sporting Director Miguel Pardeza is responsible for transfers.}

What are you spouting on about? Liverpool are rivals to Madrid not some feeder or nursery club.

Med

I think the question should be what are you spouting on about? when did i say anything about liverpool being a feeder club?

but since you dont seem to have the brainpower to understand a simple post i'll explain it to you again

the point of the post was that people keep saying on here we will get "cheap" deals from madrid because mourinho and rodgers are friends which is total nonsense because mourinho has nothing to do with the sorting out of transfer fees and contracts so we will have to pay the same amount of money for a player to madrid as every other team, the madrid board won't give us a player cheaper just because their manager is friends with our manager

so in future maybe try using the 1 or 2 brain cells you have left to understand a post before you start shooting your mouth off and make yourself look like a total tw*t

25 Aug 2012 11:08:30
Speculation that if Carroll goes we might get Sturridge.....why not sign him anyway...Carroll Suarez and Sturridge up top would be great! Borini isn't going to be 20 goals a season is he? Shocking! Shelvey could do with a season on loan somewhere to find his range he was bad midweek!
Sturridge might be arrogant but he knows how to put the ball in the net which is what we desperatley need!!!!!
Please Rogers play Carroll tomorrow otherwise Kompany and co will sleep tonight very easily!!

Disagree, I personally feel that Borini will be a top player and get his share of goals. Lad also seems to have a great attitude and has settled quickly!
Greaty

Borini's a class act.

Spot on mate , completley agree , also think Shelvey will be a good player in time

Yes Carroll the goal scoring machine his finishing is as bad if not worse than Suarez

25 Aug 2012 11:07:29
Right - Its clear for all to see , lets get out Spearing now for a start , probably Adam and buy a top top top class goal scorer to support Suarez which is clearly needed. I would also KEEP Andy Carroll. He WILL come good!!!

Bang on mate!! Read my post above yours!!

25 Aug 2012 11:06:09
Hi Eds what has happened to the Tello rumours? {Ed002's Note - Tello will not be moving to Liverpool.}

25 Aug 2012 11:05:44
As usual overhyping players we get...Sahin is a good player but not the kind that should make us too excited. Our midfield looks very good now, but up front and on the wings we are still weak as hell. If Sahin is our top signing then still things don't look good. Yes we made plenty of dealings, 4 players already but none of them is a player who is going to change us and none of them can score bags of goals(our main problem).
I still think we used our money in the wrong way again, ie Allen does not worth 15 million, Borini shouldn't have been our real option up front and Assaidi should have been only bought as a squad player, we need a more powerful winger.

Assaidi cost 3 mil, it's worth a gamble! And you haven't even seen him play yet!

Um yes he is

I seriously can't believe people on this website,

when all the talk was that arsenal were getting sahin the cry babys nearly drowned us all with their whinging that this is the type of player we need,

a player of real quality who may not be a liverpool player next season but who can seriously help us challenge this year, a player in the middle with great vision for a pass and the ability to score goals, a player the likes we haven't really had for a couple of seasons with the likes of adam and spearing in our midfield, now it can be gerrard, lucas, sahin, or allen/henderson, players with that vision and quality

a now we have him the first thing you see on here is, this is not exactly an exciting player and if this is our best signing then it's worrying times, unbelievable, get a grip

Allen is worth 15 million and more - wait and see. Class player and at 22 will only get better.

You havent sen much of Sahin then he is world class you dont win German footballer of the year being average Ynwa

Mkdlfc

Unbelievable!! we sign a player who was player of the year in germany 2 seasons ago and is on the books at real madrid and yet your still moaning its not good enough, i bet you would still moan if we signed iniesta messi and ronaldo. really dont understand people like you

Obviously you know nothing about any of the players you have mentioned. why bother posting at all mate.

At the posters above. Kagawa cost United 12m, a far better player than Allen. Swansea replaced Allen with Michu for 3 mil already bagged 2 goals(he was scoring a lot even before joining them). Allen is a good player but not an all rounder. He doesn't score. As usual we overhype the players we buy and don't know their real values(just like Hendo, just like Downing, people were saying just see them playing etc etc). As far as Sahin I said he is a great player and that our midfield looks good, but I won't get excited because our main problems are still not addressed and Sahin is not the kind of player who will solve them. And he is just a loan(quick fix) something that I will not class as a smart move.

25 Aug 2012 11:00:30
Dempsey not coming! Fulham will sell him to someone else out of spite and then realise Liverpool don't care!

Fulham cant sell him to a club if he doesnt want to go to that club. If Dempsey wants to go to LFC then thats where he will end up. Don't forget Fulham need to sell him as in 12 months time he can leave for nothing so despite Fulham's indignation at how its being handled they are not in a very strong position.

25 Aug 2012 10:54:03
I think everyone is forgetting about Assaidi in light of the Sahin transfer... I hope he shows us tomorrow what a talent he is..

-does sahin have a buy-out clause ?
-If so how much ?
-how much did the loan deal cost ?
-how much does he earn per week ?

Sorry ed's for the questions but i don't think we have to pay a lot of money on a player who is only on loan

Belgian red {Ed002's Note - There is no buy out clause? I dealt with the payment to the player yesterday. There is also the loan fee to Real Madrid and then there is the insurance cost. There is VAT, agent fees and VAT on agent fees to be paid. It adds up.}

Well the vat wont add up. Its reclaimable.

The Irish Rover {Ed002's Note - Not on agent fees it isn't.}

Why is that then ed?

The Irish Rover {Ed002's Note - The explanation from HMRC is: A number of different relationships exist between players, agents and football clubs and Customs position is that in some cases the agent provides its services, not to the football club, but to the player. On this basis Customs claim that the football club is unable to recover the VAT charged on agents fees and, as the player is in most cases not registered for VAT, the player is also unable to recover the VAT.}

25 Aug 2012 10:53:13
Great stuff another midfielder! Any chance of some attacking players now?

He is an attacking player

You don't think sahin is an attacking player? are you for real, he's hardly a midfielder who is going to sit in front of the defence,

with the system we play were looking for midfielders who can play as part of a front 3, a front 3 that won't always and will rarely be compromised of 3 strikers with the width of the front 3, just the type of player we needed,

the first step to an attacking team has to be a midfield who have the ambition to get forward and score goals, the link to the strikers has to have adventure or it will get nowhere, hense our low goal tally this season, with gerrard, assaidi, allen, sahin, lucas, henderson and even downing this year i believe there will be plenty more goals from midfield,

No pleasing some people... Just signed a world talent... Last week a winger last month an attacker and Dempsey is more likely than not"......

25 Aug 2012 10:51:57
sahin seems to be a class signing, closes up midfield. imo we now need a poaching type of a striker that can play in br system. thats why ac looks like he will be leaving. i think he will go on to great things over the years if he puts in the required effort.
there aree not many strikers available to do the job br needs. llorente might be best value as his contract is nearly up but is he br type of player?
i think lewandowski is the perfect fit. must admit i havent seen that much of him, saw him play one match in euros, he scored a good goal in that game, you tube clips which showed some great finnishes that we are crying out for. and of course player-profile which depicts him as a very good player who is very involved in the play build up.
also his goal record is very impressive.
eds is there any hope at all for this player, i know he would be expensive. i just dont want to be watching reds this season dominating certin teams again just not being able to finnish them off.

25 Aug 2012 10:47:11
Can someone tell me why Sahin is getting so much attention? What has he done exactly to warrant all this praise? Surely a winger and a striker are needed instead of another midfielder and considering we are supposed to be short of cash 5 million is ridiculous to spend on a player just to help him get match fit for Real Madrid next year?
Tony M(season ticket holder for 30 years) {Ed002's Note - All in all it is rather more than £5M.}

How about this... Sahin turns out to have a superb season and makes that difference in us making top 4, I would say 5m will be well spent but you know more than Rodgers i guess eh fella !

5m is mainly the wages like you'd pay for anyone, he's on 115k a week so looks like we paid a ton of it whereas the goners prob offered a miserly half

Think of it as losing Katy's wages and gaining sahins

Shushyboy {Ed002's Note - Of the £5M, 2.8M euros is for wages, the rest is "other costs"}

Who's Katy and what did she do for her wages?

Hi, sorry if this has already been asked. I've just got tickets for the Hearts game, any chance Nuri Sahin could play in it?
A.C. {Ed002's Note - I don't know.}

He must surely be able to play, real madrid won their league last year so they won't have been involved in any european qualifying games to cup tie him before the group stage so i should he will certainly be in line, {Ed002's Note - The question was not about his eligibility to play it was about whether there is any chance of him playing - and the answer is I don't know.}

I thought he was asking about eligibility also........ but as to whether there is a chance he will be playing, yes there is a chance. There was a chance we could snatch him from the figertips of Arsenal, and we did.

25 Aug 2012 10:40:21
everyone is having ago at fsg for not splashing out all the money i want them to aswell but look how much we spent last season and look where we came in the league and we have spent more then manchester city and tottenham
lfclee

Then they should spend their money wiser as they say. Instead of buying Hendo for 16 mil they should have bought Kagawa for 20 last year. Instead of buying Downing for 20 mil they should have bought Mata for 24 last year. Instead of buying Carroll 35 they should have given Porto 40 mil to buy Falcao. Now do you understand how stupid they look? {Ed001's Note - Kagawa wasn't available last year. Mata wasn't interested in joining us over Chelsea. Falcao wasn't interested in us. Now do you understand how stupid you look?}

Kagawa would have been available if you gave Dortmund 20 mil. Falcao wasn't interested in us? And you know that how? He was interested in AM which is a super team right? We didn't make an effort in buying him so stop your ridiculous excuses. If we would have given Porto 40 mil Falcao would have joined in a snap. And Mata was interested in Chelsea over us because we didn't really show inspiration in our transfer dealings up to that point. If you had Falcao, Suarez and made your intentions known for Kagawa then Mata would have preferred us. Now do you understand you stupid you look Ed? {Ed001's Note - you really are talking utter nonsense, Dortmund only sold Kagawa because he wanted to go to United. They wouldn't have sold him if he hadn't made it clear he wanted to go there. You do realise that you are just talking utter nonsense right? Mata wanted Chelsea because they were a better bet to win trophies and pay more money. Falcao wanted Atletico because they were in Spain, and he wanted to play in Spain. You really aren't making any sense or using any kind of knowledge and are just making yourself look more and more stupid. Slagging off FSG for these things is just pathetic, childish and idiotic. Now give it a rest.}

25 Aug 2012 10:39:08
If some sources are to be believed, pending Carroll's departure, the club will be adding 2 more players before the window shuts. Some saying there are 3 in the mix but only 2 will sign. Dempsey looks nailed on but things can change. The other 2 are Sturridge and Huntelaar. Some say we have bid £15m for Sturridge.. I'd rather have Huntelaar myself. I'm not saying this is truth, just whats being said

Ryan LFC YNWA

Personally i would like us to bid for Damiao if we get rid of Carroll he is young, quick, and knows where the goal is just he player we need

25 Aug 2012 10:38:42
scott sinclair to be the finaa piece of brendan rodgers jigsaw 5m as soon as city bid brendan will make his move for the winger whilst jay spearing being the only player leaving to sunderland for 3m

25 Aug 2012 10:36:24
Now that Sahin is a LFC player, do you think Gerrard will be pushed up into the front 3, with Sahin, Allen and Lucas in the midfield?

Being honest i would push sahin further up than gerrard, i think gerrard can be more effective at this stage of his career if he can just sit in the midfield and dictate the play rather than having to get "box to box" anymore but im not brendan rodgers so we will have to see, either way im happy he has that choice to make sahin is bestt signing since suarez

25 Aug 2012 10:35:04
Eds can sahin play tomorrow? Thanks {Ed002's Note - No.}

25 Aug 2012 10:32:16
After Madrid and Arsenal agreed a 2m loan deal, Liverpool offered 5m (no option 2 buy). Guillem Balague.the thing is top players want to go to top clubs,smaller clubs will have to do a lot more enticing to get the player.now im certainly not saying liverpool fc are a small club because they arnt,so why are they acting like one,their is no doubt the player wanted to go to arsenal the hold up seemed to be that arsenal where applying a bit of pressure so that they had an option to buy.liverpool scuppered the arsenal deal by telling sahin no probs you can go back to madrid and by giving madrid an extra 3m over what arsenal where offering obviously then madrid where pushing sahin liverpools way.now well done lfc for getting sahin.but do liverpool have to roll over and agree do clauses other clubs wouldnt agree to and pay more into the bargain to push it through not to mention getting a player who would rather be somwhere else was never the liverpool way,or has that changed now.opinions please
anon

How do you know so much details, or are you just talking bs. if sahin didnt want to come to liverpool then he would not have come.

B O H

Thats absolute bull! Why would we pay 3 mil extra? Mourinho said he doesn't care where he goes

Arsenal fan here, would have loved Sahin at Arsenal as I think he is a great player and think he will do really well for you but I agree with the comment it did seem he wanted to join us and only went to you when you offered £5m for 1 season? think Madrid only paid about £8m when they signed him so they must be laughing

In the modern game, you do what you can and what you have to do to get the players you want. Sure, off the field posture and demeanor affects your image and perception, but at the end of the day, it's those 11 players on the field (the ones the coach and management want) that win or lose games, that really matters. A lot of off field things gets forgotten over time. Won and lost games become a statistic for ever. ra1969

Errrrr maybe because arsenal could offer cpl footie,were have you been for the past five years.cpl footie is a big pull

Arsenal fans this explains why RVP left your small club then eh.

So what your saying mate is liverpool dont have the player pull anymore oh the irony llf,when the sun was shining on liverpool it was easy to say.we dont do this and we wouldnt do that,the liverpool way is this and the liverpool way is that.and laugh and scoff at other teams.but as soon as the sun goes behind a cloud all the self proclaimed soap box eliteism we have had do endure from lfc fans over the years transpires to be just the BS and waffle we knew it always was.and you wonder why other fans relish having a go at lfc.just look to yourselves

Any possible chance of aaron Lennon I know he's injury prone and a bit of a trouble maker but I really rate him, his pace is emence and just think he could be a really good signing and I heard spurs are raising money and would raise funds of him. Any chance ed's

FSG Have not spent from their own money yet... WE NEED THEM TO ACT BIG NOW!! {Ed006's Note - Explain? How have they not spent their own money?}

You Muppet,,whats just purchased all the players we have had come in,,and funded the loan dealo

I agree they have only spent money buying the club. The money they spent last year was from sales Torres, Babel, ect and the rest was made up from revenue coming in to the club. FSG need to start splashing the cash and don't give me all this we are financially stable now, this will not win you the title. Why aren't you criticising the yonks for making us a mid table side? Tony M {Ed002's Note - THis is simply not true. Why is it so hard for folks to understand that the owners have been picking up the tab for the losses the club has been making - more than £100M since they arrived.}

What an absolutely ridiculous post

Guess they got the club for free then

Red Raw

As I posted yesterday, either this guy is a supporter of another club trying to stir and cause mischief or Liverpool supporters who used to be known for their football knowledge are being replaced by brainless
Manc clones

Is the club bought on debt?
I thought they bought the club outright and have left a working debt or something of about 30-50million?

If they bought the club then they've spent money. Everything they do from then on in has to be based on good fiscal policies. Spending big on players and offering huge salaries without offloading surplus is a bad way to run any business and that's how Liverpool are now run.

If we want big signings and the wow factor then we should have been sold to an oil sheik as a rich mans play thing. {Ed002's Note - Kenny Huang was Blair's choice.}

Hi Eds

I have a theory, please tell me if its plausible:

Assuming there is no buy-out clause in the loan agreement...

If we were to get Sahin back to his top form, and Real Madrid chose to take him back... do you think that Mourinho would give us Alonso on a free. I mean, the two managers are friends, Alonso rejected a contract extension and he's also said in the past he'd come back to LFC. If Guillem Balague is to be believed, we paid 5 mil for the loan fee - which would seem like a feasible amount for a soon to be out-of-contract 31 year old.

Hoping this actually gets posted

JJ {Ed002's Note - No that won't happen. If Balague has said that he is wrong. The loan fee is separate to the payment to the player - I explained this yesterday.}

Ed what do i search for to find that what you said ? {Ed002's Note - Try £5M or Fazeli.}

Happy with the sahin deal.

If he gets us back in the top 4 its money well spent.

LAVERS

Thats exactly the way fans should look at it. Its a stepping stone to get us back up there.

25 Aug 2012 10:11:48
A. Johnson : glad we missed out. Average player capable of flashes of quality. Not what we need, no consistency, would stifle Sterling's chances.

Sahin : Quality player, fits Rodgers ethos perfectly. On loan is ideal as we can't lose. Only hope we've nailed down the option to buy as he will be top class for us.

Walcott: Inconsistent, not achieved development goals under the master - Wenger. Leave this one alone Brendan, waste of a wage.

D Sturridge: I'm conflicted with this one. Showed strikers instincts for Bolton, but struggled at Chelsea. I think he's the type who needs to be playing every week. I'd avoid him tbh. Too much of an individual and not a team player. We don't need him.

Dempsey: now we have Allen and Sahin I don't see a place for him in the team. At 29 he needs to be playing. For the money Fulham want I'd walk away. Decent but not going to improve us and would stifle Suso.

G.Ramirez : Another luxury player with no consistency. It's clear we're not interested, I don't know where the fascination with him comes from. Walk away.

If BR isn't going to trust Carroll in the first team then we need a finisher. I still like the idea of Lewandowski. Dortmund play the way BR wants us to play and he is up for a move. He could team up with Sahin. The other option is this Villa loan deal which sounds interesting but I just worry about his recovery from injury, his age and his motivation to play for LFC. I don't think he has the "desire" or "hunger" to prove himself in the Prem.

QUAGGAR

I agree with all this apart from Dempsey.
He will bring more than just much needed goals to our team he will help the development of suso if anything.
His fitness is great but he will be starting to decline just as suso starts to shine.
We would be able to incorporate suso into the team slowly rather than chuck them in when they are not ready.

MIKEY

Why not take a chance on rhodes from huddersfield, could be another aldridge score goals in any division. tony 63.

Lmao yeah sahin is better than every other player,is that because he is with liverpool by chance,what would you have said about him if he had gone to arsenal,oh let me guess "hes crap"lol,i cant remember him doing to well since he moved to spain.tip of the day mate "just read dont comment"llf

I didn't say Sahin is the best player ever, a tip for you is to actually read and comprehend posts before you reply and make a fool of yourself.
However, I will say Sahin is better than "Santi Carzola"! lol

25 Aug 2012 10:11:31
Gossip today saying that Bolton are to pay 3m for Jay Spearing - hope they pay that and good riddance to Spearing! he may be a scouser but he is absolute rubbish, can't tackle, can't pass, can't shoot, can't run - he offers the team nothing when he plays!!!

You were right up till the end of your first sentence.
Fact is I don't think he's the quality we need to get us back up there either, but there's no need to go OTT!
If he went to Bolton, forest etc he'll do realky well, as expectation a levels are totally different.
at best for us, he's a 3rd choice filler in. At these other teams he'll prob start cause what he has in abundance is grit and determination, which is what is required.

Lay off and wish him all the best, hes been a good 100% servant.
Sinner21

Ok point taken , but the lad does wear his heart on his sleeve , and he does try hard , which is more than some of our squad .......andy.

25 Aug 2012 10:07:34
Hi Eds, my first post. Is there a good chance that we could sign Sahin at the end of the season. Or are we just giving him some game time for Real Madrid? Really happy to get him, but not used to having guys on loan for our club. NOW WE NEED A GOAL SCORER PLEEEEEEASE.
Big Red Dog. {Ed006's Note - I dont think Madrid want to sell.}

I think he will go back to Madrid and we will get Alonso in return......

25 Aug 2012 09:59:46
I don't understand the Dempsey in if Carroll goes talk. Team needs a striker and Dempsey is not a striker he is an attacking midfielder whose strength is getting into the box i.e. similar to Tim Cahill. Good player but not a striker and needs a genuine striker to play with to be effective. Clearly the club needs a striker so they sign another midfielder and pursue yet another! All the money spent on bringing in midfielders and they could have got a couple of decent strikers....how much did Michu cost again?

25 Aug 2012 09:56:15
right we got sahin thats good we now need some 1 in the fwd line that will score the 20 plus goals a season i think it should be

Hooper & llorente
i think we could get both for about 22 million

Becca

Mr hooper from jaws?

25 Aug 2012 09:51:50
Another midfielder! Are you mad?

Jealous, oh yeah your jealous

Yes, but world class midfielder!

Yeah, now we can pass it around for 40 consecutive passses back and sideways before Suarez misses another sitter.

Play Carroll at least if you not gonna buy a CF Rodgers.

...ah you're so right. Let's stick with Spearing & Adam.

Look at the player mate. Nuri Sahin, is a mighty step up from Jay spearing and Jonjo Shelvey in the creative midfield role.He's a pass master mate in the Molby, Alonso,mould.Even for one season,he will give the midfield an assured look and balance. Quality is quality and Sahin has bags of it

25 Aug 2012 09:51:11
Hi Ed just watching sly sports & there was some beaut on slagging the Reds off, saying the crowd have been shouting "you dont know what your doing to Rodgers", he also reckons there are real problems at LFC & the players are unhappy with some of his decisions & the way things are going but listening to Robbie Fowler the other day he stated that he has spoke to a number of players & they are enjoying training, is this more lousy journalism or are there other issues going on behind closed doors.

I am glad the Sahin transfer saga is over......

Wirral Red {Ed002's Note - I have no idea. But you know what the fans are like from reading these pages after a game. Any draw or loss results in hours and hours of abuse for the players, the manager and the owners.}

Yet again this is down to Arm Chair supporters who believe they can do a better job themselves when they can't even manage to piss in the bowl of a toilet

You weren't listening properly you wally, he didn't say they were chanting that. He offered odds of 2-1 that they would at some point during the game against city.......which they won't because we're going to smash em !!

25 Aug 2012 09:48:24
Its official :-

Liverpool Football Club have reached an agreement with Real Madrid to sign Nuri Sahin on a season-long loan deal, subject to the player passing a medical.

Sahin moved to Madrid last summer fresh from helping Borussia Dortmund secure the German championship and being named as the Bundesliga's Player of the Season.

The playmaker collected another league title winners' medal as the Spanish giants clinched La Liga in May.

Sahin has 31 caps for Turkey and became their youngest ever scorer when he netted on his debut against Germany in 2005, aged 17.

The 23-year-old will now undergo a medical on Merseyside.

hi eds! just heard at anfield that alls not meant to be well at liverpool? is it because the yaonks arent coffing up any money or is it the players arent happy with br style of play or is it just there sick an tired of continuously playing a unfit always injured gerard and carragher? or is it just sssn talking b******* an tryin to ruffle a few feathers! just like to hear if youve heard anything from a very worried red!

If things were so bad why would the likes of Agger, Skrtel, Adam, Carroll are all desperate to stay/fight for their place.

I think you have heard rumours that should be ignored.

Well sahin has signed but according to guilliem we havnt an option to buy despite paying 5million to loan with arsenal only offering 2 , surely there must be some clause to say we get first dibs at a set price ? great signing anyway ynwa {Ed002's Note - No, there won't be.}

Here's a thought, Sahin at Liverpool for the 1 year loan to gain more experience and Xabi coming back to Liverpool next summer when his contract expires. What do you think Eds?
Collin {Ed002's Note - If the club want to go backwards, sure.}

Thats stupid collin why would you do that?

majestic69

How about sahin for 1 year, has a great season and Liverpool buy him!

Evered

Why on earth would the club be going backwards? Another stupid come back from the ever cheerful Ed002 {Ed002's Note - You may think my answer stupid but it is pig ignorance if you think his contract expires next year. If you wait until his contract expires in 2014 he will be getting on for 33 years old. Perhaps you should have learned a lesson from Dalglish being brought back as manager - looking back is not the answer.}

Cant see this as backwards alonsos age is no problem as he reads the game so well his passing ability will be no problem he is also a true professional on and off the pitch quality lifestyle which we all no lets them play beyond there years giggs for one example gary mac another we all know how pivotol he was in 2001 price would be small as wouldnt have long left on his contract

Whatever his age is..he is top quality..
and by the way hendo, shelvey and adam..who are 23..will never be alonso after 10 years...

Not really a rumour, but an observation. Though he should have scored, Borini worked his socks off at hearts and caused the defender to panic and concede. He may not be your traditional forward, but Borini may be Liverpool's new Kuyt.

I agree with you i think he is looking like a good signing for the money , at least he is trying hard .....andy.

I see what you mean, but I'd rather have a new Torres than a new Kuyt. Not to mention a new Alonso.

If he scores half the vital goals that Dirk did that would be great. Never, ever stopped giving us everything in terms of effort - something the rest if the squad could try and emulate if they cared enough.
ND

Think thats the problem as i think we needed an improvement on kuyt one thing we can look forward to though is kuyt usually scored in all the big games borini for first goal tomorrow anyone

This is our final addition this window.

more than enough options in midfield we need 2 versatile attacking midfielders (clint dempsey and gaston ramierez) and a 20 goal a season striker to replace carroll

This moneyball dreaming style of leadership from FSG has a major flaw. It's this. You cannot compete fr the league title, or Champuons league, unless you can spend massive amounts of cash on p,ayers. City and Chelsea have seen to that, little clubs with big means from rich individuals. We can talk on here all we like, but we are a massive club, world renowned, with owners that are good businessmen which is admirable but with very limited spending power. This means we cannot compete where it matters to us fans which is on the pitch. It's great to have debt paid, it's great to be run frugally, but that is not enough to produce what all Liverpool fans really want, which is to be the best team anywhere on the pitch. All we will do is keep going round in circles, changing managers, changing players, while rich owner-little clubs become pseudo big clubs overnight. Because they attract the best players in the world due to the money and the instant success they offer. I'm not saying its right, not by a long shot, but I believe we just have to get used to it, and I think we will see other clubs being bought by rich owners pushing us further behind. This is not a criticism of FSG, it's just an opinion I have. I really hope I am wrong here. The G

Moneyball strategy isn't being applied at LFC. Howc many times does it have to be said!?

And were do u place the likes of montpellier and borusia dortmund in your list of rich owner - little club... or maybe lets say malaga who are now letting go of all their class players..

Don't worry, you ARE wrong

The thing that gave the last twist to the Sahin saga. After Madrid and Arsenal agreed a 2m loan deal, Liverpool offered 5m (no option 2 buy). Guillem Balague

Euro's or pound's? Doesnt make a difference. Still expensive for a loan! {Ed002's Note - Arsenal agreed 2.8M euros. Liverpool £5M. This was explained yesterday}

LIVERPOOL FC = the slowest and most IN-EFFICIENT CLUB when it comes to securing transfers!

Well named Red Mist - have people not realised that carefully and quietly gets the players these days rather than trumpeting every move through the gutter media. How many clubs, even in this transfer window, have missed out after sounding off about this player or that player? We got Sahin didn't we?

Arsenal were after Sahin for just as long and they didn't get him.

25 Aug 2012 08:47:17
what is going on with FSG we've missed out on adam johnson a player who could have provided the width we desprately need. if were not careful we may finish in the bottom half of the table, i'm still undecided about allen and borini think we'll struggle this season unless FSG start putting their hands in their pockets again.sort yourselfs out and get dempsy, walcot, and ramirez before its to late. if we are going to get rid of carrol, adam and spearing we should have done it by now and given the team time to gel, that way we might not have been beaten by a poor west brom team.

Pretty sure that it wasn't a poor West Brom, Liverpool played well under new tactics, new players all trying to gel, and West Brom playing trying to prove a point e.g. Steve Clark being manager, They can beat the big teams. Oh and why on earth would liverpool want an egotistic but average player in adam . Walcott has poor end product, liverpol need someone atm who has good end product! it isn't FSG problem that they are trying to deal with one of the hardest teams to deal with regarding transfers (Fulham)
Now how about support the club, try doing that some time huh?

R******* post. Go read the club's accounts and you'll see how much the owners are putting in every week.

Sahin deal is still very much in the air - The two clubs have agreed terms, however, the player himself wants the 'option to buy' clause removed from the deal, as he still see's his long term future ar Real Madrid and does not want to be 'forced' out.

Dempsey will go to Arsenal, with Walcott on his way to Liverpool for a fee of £17.5m - All will happen on transfer deadline day.

Agger is staying - Johnson was never an option as BR did not think his overall work-rate will fit the system (i.e. rarely tracks back)

Sturridge is a real option, as is Zaha plus expect an offer for Sinclair and a last ditch offer for Moses.

Sahin deal has just been confirmed so you obviously know very little.

EDs, why do you even post this kind of drivel? There has to be a certain amount of credibility, possibility or probability or atleast some reasoning for posts. This one here is the random musings of a guy/girl who couldn't be bothered to use his brain to think for even one second!!

Sorry for the rant, it's just getting so silly now with these rumours (Ramirez, I even came across a rumour that said the 'Sahin deal was still up in the air' this morning when he was already announced on the official site).

This post has gotta be one of the worst ever, Anichebe is worse than Sean Dundee, are you on the computer without your mums permission, now get back to bed!!!!

Hey eds....as Adam Johnson has jkoined Sunderland,who are the other wingers that we are currently looking at??
Manoj {Ed002's Note - LIverpool has already bought a winger.}

Manoj, you could simply read through the posts from the last day or two and you will get an understanding of the rumours or supposed interest in players.

I challenge everyone to read the secret footballer and then justify how some people can call them deadwood, or sit here and go through how terrible they are. Calling them a donkey or useless etc. Its comments like that which lead players to suffer from depression, which can lead to suicide. The pressure which is put on these players is ridiculous, yes the gains from a good performance are wonderful but the public flogging of a player after a poor performance is worse. Pundits and journalists sitting there tearing players performances apart and fans abusing them. Its time things changed and we have to get back to what Liverpool supporters used to be about, 100% support for our players while they are here. Constructive criticism is fine, but referring to Jay Spearing as useless etc is not ok.

Hi Ed002,
If Agger leaves who think will replace him and will we use some of the cash for a striker.
Reply would be appreciated.
Thanks {Ed002's Note - Right now I suspect he will stay.}

I think BR may well play that way tbh Ed.
Skurks {Ed023's Note - I think when the window shuts a team of; Reina; Johnson Agger Skrtel Enrique; Sahin Allen Lucas; Gerrard Dempsey Suarez. I would like that very much}

And with a flick of the switch we can unleash the PACE in the form of Assaidi, Sterling, Borini, Downing, maybe even Walcott/sturridge if they are targets.....hmmmm im quite liking this team eds let the games begin top 4 be afraid be very afraid ;-).

He's our manager ,they are our players and most importantly its our CLUB so why not be a little optimistic and aim high, and before any trolls say oh 8th place, well then i shall be writing this same message next season but probably different players because its what you do at LFC you support your club.

Eds....I posted a few weeks back saying I can't make it to the Arsenal home game (work..Sept 2nd.)).
I had a reply from "Mike" who said he'd take my season-ticket for that game and also said he was a "woolyback" (a phrase I can't identify with as I'm a scouser) but I can give him lifts to other home games.
I have a guaranteed seat and guaranteed parking for that game. Can you put me in touch with Mike or anyone who wants to attend.
The alternative is for me to sell my ticket back to the Club for about £33 but I'm offering a £46 ticket plus £10 parking (£56) for £40 o.n.o.
The risk is all mine given I'll be handing over two cards to total strangers.
Would like to speak to Mike though...if you can oblige.

hi eds seeing alot of people on here want to get rid of carroll but do you think we should? in my personal opinion we should keep him. yes he was overpriced we all know that but when you also look at suarez was he not also overpriced seeing as his behaviour at times is an embarressment and he just cant seem to put the ball in the back of the net no matter how many chances you give him!! at times its terrible watching him. all of this from a player who has been around and had more chances then carroll so surely carroll deserves a chance.

25 Aug 2012 01:59:03
Ed1 mate I really love you as ed mate but be honest we have held Gerrard for years he has been playing with crap players and i mean crap players for years.
Anything we have achieved in modern footy is coz of him and don't forget mate special one has always sayed he is open to take Gerrard whenever he is in market but we have always sayed no mate if special one thinks he is good for madrid then why not liverpool. Time have come players should share the burden of liverpool rather then blame Gerrard coz half of liverpool team is crap and FANS SHOULD BE ASHAMED and oh if you don't know then let me tell you Gerrard has been sacrifice for team he is playing really deep for 2 years which is why we are not seeing him more attacking he has to help deffending coz of crap players at the club

Very sad kopite

Stevie gee needs the fans with him now as its harder for him we have lost too many good players who played with him , torres , alonso, masch, owen etc

25 Aug 2012 01:42:16
Hi edz fellow kopites

My question is with carroll looking more And more likely to be leaving who do you think would be his replacement. I think even if Dempsey is bought if Carroll goes we wud need another out and out striker .

Well it looks as though FSG are starting a rebuilding process in Boston as well. They're about to offload 3 of their biggest contracts. I have to say it's a little disturbing but at the same time that's how baseball works. The Red Sox are not in contention for a playoff spot and they have a team (Dodgers) looking to take those players off their hands.

I'm not saying this will affect LFC in any way but it seems FSG aren't overflowing with money. Make of it what you will. I still have high hopes for their leadership and BR's tactics. YNWA.

AmRed

There's alot more to it than that like the fact that crawford had tommy john surgery on tuesday or wednesday aswell as beckett being a cancer, so its a good move. also i think you should focus more on our transfer dealings last summer for the reason why we havent spent 80 mil this year, not the money spent by the sox which will have little to do with us.

ri red

The Red Sox are trading 3 players. Josh Becket ($15 million per year), Carl Crawford ($19.5 million per year), and Adrian Gonzalez ($21 million per year). Becket has been terrible this year. Crawford has been hurt for 2 seasons and just had surgery. Gonzalez is the only good player. They clear an overall $260 million of guaranteed contracts from their payroll. What this trade should tell you is FSG are not scared to be bold and smart. They will spend that money on better players next year.

25 Aug 2012 02:44:46
This is not a rumour but fact if we can't compete with Sunderland to sign Adam Johnson for 10M....then we will not sign another player this transfer window....Loan players yes signings nope...We not going to get any useful player under 10M... Fulham wants that for Dempsey we not prepared to pay that...So unless we sell we ain't buying...bit of a worry.

Rubbish...we dont rate adam johnson...suarez will do 100 better than him..we need strikers...dempsy is perfect..i would also like another striker to come in..
sell adam and spearing...

Top ten at best

Maybe we weren't in for Johnson?

Has it crossed your mind that BR did not want Johnson? I think he is incredibly over rated, lazy and selfish and am glad we didnt show any interest in him

Pls never post anything like this..

Its not that we can't its that we wont. in other words he is not worth that kind of money to us.

ri red

Why would we compete with sunderland for Johnson? first of all he wanted to go home... secondly what is this obsession with him ? he is very average... Lazy, doesn't play for the team, fair enough he can beat a man, then he wastes it... he is not a kid no more, he is 25 years old and you think his value has improved since he went to city? no chance....

The fee is believed to be rising to £15 million and his wages are probably 50k plus... we just bought a winger for £3 Mil on 25k a week, i bet he's does just a good job for us... good Business.

G BOX

Have you ever thought we may not have wanted to sign Johnson? Or that Johnson wanted to go back home to the North East?

Johnson is from the area and wanted to return home so there was little or no chance of signing him. The club knew this and that's why they didn't make an approach.

Your assuming we wanted him!

Red G

Get a grip lad, the big draw for AJ was he wanted to go home, back to his roots and still earn wheelbarrows full of cash, plus playing time - if he was a Liverpool lad, there is no way he'd have gone anywhere but lfc! There are loads of factors in a decision to go to a club..... Why do you think Xabi is only linked with us? Any of the top teams would love him, but they know his spiritual home is anfield..... Just don't leave it too long!

Mate calm down, when we wanted Adam Johnson Mancini wasn't ready to sell him now our priority is striker and we just bought Assaidi and we are stuck with Downing we juist can't sign every player coz he is good or have pontential we have to sign players according our needs and now our need or priority is STRIKER thanks

Kopite

Who ever said we were in for him,it was only speculation and rumour.stop being stupid,I'm glad he's gone to Sunderland.before u start kicking off get your facts right

Ste

I think an Ed said we won't match the valuation...
If barca offered 25m for Suarez but wouldn't go higher because that's how they value him, but Man City offered 30m would that make Barca a club that can't compete? No. They are just sticking to their guns and running efficiently as a business.
Cal

david templeton looked like a very tricky player last night. Flair, Pace, creativity.. something we may need..? he could also develop well at LFC. {Ed049's Note - I don't think so}

A quick (ish) word to the pessimists and nay-sayers. To those who think we've "missed out" on our (media-reported) targets...Adam Johnson, Gylfi Siggurdsen etc....We've actually done sone amazing business......The sales of Dirk Kuuyt, Maxi Rodriguez, Fabio Aurelio, Craig Bellamy and (possibly) Jay Spearing, Charlie Adam and Andy Carroll have been more than tempered with the arrivals of Joe Allen, Fabio Borini, Ossama Assaidi, Nuhri Sahin and (possibly) Clint Dempsey and (if Carroll goes) another striker.
We already possess seven of the most sought-after footballers around...Reina, Agger, Gerrard, Suarez, Skirtel, Sterling and Johnson.
Clubs have offered big-bucks for all of these in the past (Spurs wanted to pay £7m for Raheem).
Our biggest rivals know we have a strong "spine" to our team and they're soiling their tracksuits at the thought of our getting stronger. The business we've done so far has definitely made us stronger.....The players we've said goodbye to leave with good wishes but their loss hasn't weakened us.
The arrivals/possible arrivals are exciting additions. They are technically fantastic players who conform to Brendan's ideas.
Joe Allen and Nuri Sahin keep the ball and control the midfield for fun....They are relentless in their midfield duties and, alongside a properly-fit Lucas Leiva (Brazil capt.) and England Captain Gerrard we have a pretty tidy midfield. Adam and Henderson will be decent back-up.
Assaidi and Downing/Sterling will provide width aswell as possibly using Suarez and Borini in wide roles.
I'm a Clint Dempsey fan and think we could do worse than persist in our pursuit of the American. Personally, I'd swap Andy Carroll and Jay Spearing for Dempsey and Moussa Dembele at the drop of a hat. We could even be a few quid up but it's not going to occur.
Whatever does happen, I'm sticking by my conviction that we are going forward.
Brendan Rodgers has impressed me no end since he took over. His actions and interviews hold up well to the scrutiny we fans have subjected him to.
I hope his "announcement" about Nuri Sahin signing doesn't backfire. He has to be certain.
I just hope Jamie Carragher, when he plays, doesn't insist on blindly passing the ball back to the goalie. He played last night like he used to play under Houllier...safety first.
And he's not very good at defending when he's facing his own goal !
Coates is a better centre-back than Jamie. Quicker, younger, taller. Jamie is louder.
I would urge all the HH's (Henderson Haters) to back off. Okay, he's not Maradona but he puts a shift in every time he plays. He covers ground and is happy to do the less glamorous work. He's a Brendan type of player.
Charlie Adam might struggle to get a game but (if not sold) could be a decent squaddie.
This season we could have a very, very strong squad.

Spot on this post.
RedRoche.

Well said.... To me it's all about the end product and retention, we had too many players that just did not see the pass or deliver the telling ball or gave away possession in a dangerous area. The players BR are bringing in have all the above. I also agree about hendo, he sees a pass that others don't and is getting better at the delivery.

Well i would love to keep Anfield as it has a great history and tradition but if we cant make it into a sixty - seventy thousand stadium we will be falling further behind other clubs with already bigger stadiums if we can relocate to a new stadium taking our best stuff with us maybe even moving it all brick by brick we can have a huge stadium that can have an even better atmosphere if thats possible but our gate money would shoot up giving us more revenue in this modern football world of money talks it wuld hurt but it would be the only way to go and your grandads will tell you it used to be Evertons anyway

Share a new stadium with the blues? ok its hurts a little, but a 75-80k seater stadium at half the cost, name one end after us and the other for them, and spend all those saved hundreds of millions on our team over the next 5 years instead, just a thought

Its not the bricks and mortar that makes Anfield special

25 Aug 2012 01:01:57
Glad we didn't sign Adam Johnson. I just hope we don't go for Daniel Sturridge - he's lazy and selfish.

He will score the odd goal, but he's so often the main culprit when play breaks down or the ball's given away.

Eds, do you know what kind of wages he's on at Chelsea?

Joe

I'd rather prefer us using the money for sturridge on liandro lopez if we were preparing a bid for Daniel.

just watching some clips of sahin on you tube.
seems to me his best skill is having his back to a defender,getting the ball to his feet,looking like hes going to take the ball one way,then tricking the defender and taking the ball the other way.i believe he calls it a U TURN.

Give me your opinions as fans do you think this would be a more effective formation than 4-3-3 cheers!

Hi eds, I wonder could u tell me if the sahin deal will involve an option to buy at the end of the loan? Jayo {Ed005's Note - That is unknown mate. He was a Mourinho signing - so I imagine personally that Mourinho will want him to get a full season under the belt then bring him back.}

Hey Eds Wouldnt it be great to have Tello, Ramirez And Dempsey, this would be a fantastic transfer window for us, what is the possibilitys on this Happening? If we could sell carroll for 17-18 mil, adam 5-6mil, am sure we could get these players the only one i think would be difficult would be Tello as he is starting a few games now for Barca and Figuring alot, your thoughts Eds Thanks {Ed005's Note - It would be ideal for the squad but I can only see Dempsey out of those three and it isn't guaranteed either.}

Ed, going by what 001 said, with it being a bank Joliet weekend, will Sahin probably not be announced until Tuesday, or could it be sooner? Thanks {Ed005's Note - Hi mate - not totally sure. I don't think it will make a difference to be honest. Sahin could still put pen to paper on the loan deal and it could all be sorted. Obviously the earlier it happens the better!}

24 Aug 2012 23:46:00
Please help me understand this.....

Why did we not go for Adam Johnson? {Ed019's Note - We did, but were unwilling to match Sunderlands offer}

Perhaps I can help. We signed Assaidi, a winger. We have Stuart Downing, a winger. We have young Sterling, a winger. Don't get me wrong, I'd take AJ but perhaps we have more pressing positions that need filling?

JF

I still think we need one more may be not a expensive one but we do need one more may be in a different mould than the one stated someone like Silva more creative than the ones we have right now

24 Aug 2012 23:41:00

Interested in people's opinions on a new stadium or redevelopment of anfield

If say the owners could redevelop anfield to 50000 seater or build a brand new 60000 seater stadium with greater advertising opportunities what would you go for?

Is the history of anfield more important to people than the extra commercial revenue a new stadium would eventually bring to the club?

All hypothetical but I just wonder what's more important to people and the Eds?

Agree for anfield redevelopment
Disagree for new stadium

Durham red

Unfortunately, there has been a recent shift in football with the emergence of sugar-daddy clubs like Chelsea, City, etc. Tradition, loyalty and values are no longer part of the barometer for a great club and now seem to hold a club (business) back rather that reflect its' integrity.
- Should we keep a proven loyal player like Agger who wants to play for Liverpool...or sell him because the City are waving their fat cash wads around?
- Should we be aspiring to be like Chelsea who throw hundreds of millions at the situation in an attempt to win the Champions League, or should we stick with the idea that savvy lower-cost purchases and a good youth system should bring us success? And does that success taste any better if it's gained by hard work, good management and team unity instead of an annual 200m transfer kitty
Do we care about the traditions and history of Liverpool FC to the detriment of our future success?
Imagine the scenario: 2016 Champions League semi-final Liverpool Fc v PSG at our home ground - the new Pepsi-Cola/Nike Air stadium. The team walks out - no scousers, the winger Assaidi is our club's longest serving player, and two players are banned because they refused to play unless LFC grants their mid-contract move to PSG (who pay more than the 200k a week we offer)
Would we still be the same club and the same fans?
Hopefully, Henry & co are aiming for middle ground on this, creating a sustainable business model while keeping a lot of the traditions and ethics that characterise Liverpool Football Club.
Let's stay at Anfield if it can be improved to maximise income and ticket sales......otherwise lets build a new stadium if we can do it without losing our proud heritage and selling our soul to the dollar.

cozinoz

Please specify the cost involved with both the senario

I'm no builder/architect but I would say 500 mil for new stadium, 250 mil brought in through naming rights

Or 100 mi, redevelopment of anfield but lower capacity due to building restrictions.

Opinion very divided at the mo

Obviously all hypothetical..

I've just been told by a Journalist in a pub in Islington that Liverpool have made a bid for Theo Wallcott in the last hour.

Lets hope so anyway, Sterling, Suarez and Wallcot with Allen, Sahin and and Gerrard behind them would murder teams!

If Sahin is revealed during the City game to boost the fans, ahead, tied or behind the attending supporters will make a great deal more noise for the second half than they have in a long while.

Eds, I'd like a musing here on whether the scenario postulated above can result in City domination.

Ed was just wondering, seeing as of are going to get Sahin on loan, do you think that he will go back to Madrid at the end of the loan to take Alonso's place so he can come back to Liverpool? Just a hopeful fan haha {Ed019's Note - Very possible }
