Ed002 is the rule for the number of loans u can have different if some of the loans have an option to buy? i heard u could have 4 loans if they had an option to buy and only two if not {Ed002's Note - Sort of - not with a loan with an option to buy - but a loan-to-buy.}

25 Dec 2012 23:12:16
Ed, do you think if players like Downing, Henderson,and joe cole go Brendan would try and go in the market to replace them. For instance J.Cole operates as a second striker we have bought Sturridge or the deal has been wrapped up pending the window opening, we would get a player in that role like a Villa Gramero or some thing along those lines. I expect the attack will be priority this window.

25 Dec 2012 23:11:29
I hope we don't that Stevie doesn't play a high corners into the box. One of our players could get killed.

I forgot to sign this

Better than Fergie

Not really there has been a little thing called Xmas. Everybody has been thinking it is since the alcoholic with dimentia made those remarks. Attacking fans, career ending tackles and the worst thing in football is kicking the ball at a player, ok he was on the ground but AF's reaction was OTT.

i bet only nasri wud agree wv fergie

Merry Xmas to all the Red Men out there & the Eds.

Despite all the gloom & doom you get on here, let's not forget that this has been the best year for LFC for 23 years !

25 Dec 2012 21:50:35
A very merry Christmas to you al the Eds, to Macca and to all LFC supporters.. Looking forward to the new year and all the rumours of who's coming and going and also a successful second half to the season for all at LFC,the best football team in the world!

Do you believe Coates will leave the REDS EDS {Ed052's Note - not in Jan}

25 Dec 2012 21:07:54
Well eds and reds

This might be a stupid question but I hate when new players sign and take a lucky number when there is first team numbers available eg. 1 to 11.. When sturridge signs will he wear 9 as carra has 23

Happy Christmas and a new year to all

The faceman ynwa

26 Dec 2012 00:01:44
My guess is he'll wear 18.

I agree, especially if you are a first team player. Like when joe Allen didnt choose number 6. Ince with 10 and sturridge with 9 sounds right for me.

Daniel sturridge does not deserve the no 9 shirt

You say Daniel Sturridge doesn't deserve the no.9 shirt but it might be an interesting piece of man management if BR gives it to him don't you think?

Frenchy.

Hi eds, merry chrimbo, just wondered if you know anything about Demba Ba, read a couple of bits saying we're interested or is he set for Arsenal?
Also why dies BR hardly play Assaidi, he seems like a real talent to me?

Thanks Greg {Ed052's Note - we wont be getting Ba Assaidi is injured at the minute . Hope youve had a good Xmas mate}

25 Dec 2012 20:23:00
Sturidge- really young, member of English team.
Sterling -young , one of the youngest eng team member
Borini- youngest Italian in Italy team
Suarez- worlds best( one of)
Gerrard - veteran world best
We are beast guys it's only a matter of time, have a little patience or alot , merry Christmas and a brave new year.

Add to that lucas world beater dagger worlds best CB etc.

Unfortunately, the eleven best players do not make the best team.

FT

The manager is getting there . . .

If so good, why have we only won 6 games.
Sorry mate, it just don't gel!.

Don't forget Borini - world,class, Allen - world class, Kelly - world's best full back, Enrique - world's second best full back.

Downing still deserves to be sold and cole is out for sure as Liverpool have already got enough midfielders and does not justify his 90k wage so far and doesn't fit into fsg criteria: young and low wage

Why sell Downing? He has had a great December-i think BR is starting to get the best out of him! Plus, BR has said publicly he doesn't want to sell him, it would only be the player wanting to move on.

Having said that, I agree the selling Cole.

Downing HAS been great in December... However, I agree with the original poster, 1 month out of 17 doesn't justify his wages... I will admit that this month has made it much harder to wish for his sale, but we have a chance to sell while his value is at its highest point since we bought him. We need to take advantage of the opportunity. That being said, I will support him and every other player as long as they wear ourvshirt.

Ynwa

I only see us keeping downing if:
1) BR decides to keep him as LB cover for enriuqe and for some reason doesn't use Robinson.

2) we only purchase 1 forward in the jan window (daniel sturridge).

3) no clubs want to buy him.

One month changes nothing.
Think over the other many months of weak and insipid performances.

BR knows where he wants to play sturridge and has a plan for assaidi. Have faith. Sturridge is not afraid to shoot and thats what lfc needs atm.
Merry Xmas to every lfc reds n all eds. Enjoy and have fun

budashow {Ed002's Note - Enjoy.}

I agree, if stuzer can keep all of his shots on targets, then we would be laughing because he will score a hell of a lot of goals,
the mount of chances this team creates is unreal,
all we need is stuzer to take half of them and get most of them on target,

Hi ed's just want to post that today I've been given a ticket to fulfill a life long dream and finally get to a match at anfield. Not only did I have to wait 40 years for the privilege but I also get the added bonus of bringing my 2 best mates as well, my 2 boys. Big thanks to my wife for sorting it. Happiest camper in Ireland tonight!!:-))))) {Ed002's Note - Enjoy the game.}

Not really Liverpool related, but Adel Taarabt has just said in an interview that he would consider a move to AC Milan. However he went on to say how Milan are no longer a top club and isnt 'glorious' at the moment, but would be a stepping stone for bigger clubs such as Barcelona. How full of himself is he. A good first half of the season at QPR and suddenly Barca is the only club for him. Hope any interest in him from us fades for sure!

Haha. some people are like that i guess.

I think he meant barcelona B

25 Dec 2012 16:32:46
Im not really in the know for Liverpool ins and outs however I do have some inside info regarding ronaldo from his own mouth to my sister( model socialite known him for a few years) he has said he's not happy in Madrid back to Man Utd in the summer as his intention is too run his contract down. A fee of £128 million was mentioned. Personally I don't believe it but she does speak to him quite a bit even so much that he dedicated a goal celebration to her during the euros. As I say I'm not convinced but my sister is a good friend of his. She has said a meeting has already taken place with all parties. Might be worth a punt with the bookies as I'm afraid if it is true he looks like he's on his way back. you heard it hear first!

Merry Xmas

I bet she speaks to him ;-)

Wrong page lad!

Can I have your sister's number? Tell her there's a KFC and a VIP seat in the Cinema with her name on it.

128 million seems a lot for someone who's going to run down their contract.

Just a big thx to the eds for your updates and advise. Sorry you have to state/ restate the obvious so often.
I've been travelling Asia for sometime now and have managed to follow my beloved reds very successfully through India, Philipines and Vietnam. Looking forwar to tomorrow's game. Just to clarify we are a huge club out here. The only flags or posters that have been football related out here have been Liverpool. Anyway, thx again for your time Merry Xmas to all. Its so disappointing how people slate kenny over here and keep praising rodgers who has achieved nothing in his career..
Until brendan can win trophies with liverpool don't ever don't ever compare both

Can we plz stop talking about kenny? The future is BR n thats what matters.
Indian Buzzer

Kenny took us backwards, wasting millions in the process. Rodgers took a Championship side and turned them into a side of near equal quality of our own with less than 10% of our budget.

Kenny took us backwards, wasting millions in the process. Rodgers took a Championship side and turned them into a side of near equal quality of our own with less than 10% of our budget.

Yes kenny took us backwards compared to what Roy did!

King kenny anyday merry xmas

Kenny took us backwards? R u kidding me.

BR is exploiting the pass and move philosophy of Kenny from last year to play tiki-taka with patience. With Kenny we had pace, so we kept losing the ball, here BR wants the possession and patience.

Kenny won us a cup in an year and a half, ask Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle fans what they would do for that.

Kenny is King and will always remain king.

Wait till Downing and Enrique prove their millions if they carry their form, then we shall see who wasted what.

mgz

Here we go again. CALL YOURSELVES REDS? DISGRACEFUL! Kenny will always be our King and in our top 3 managers EVER. Show some respect!

Waro

Kenny & BR have had very different challenges and missions, Kenny brought back some glory, at a cost, and BR is setting us up for the future, which will take time. I honestly believe that Kenny should have had another year and may well have won further cups or in Europe but I do not believe he was a great long term plan. BR may not win anything this year but I believe he will set us up to win lots including the league in the future. We will never know with Kenny and I may be miles off with BR but I live with hope in my heart. Merry Christmas all.

Andy K

25 Dec 2012 14:25:17
Danny Sturridge is a player with a track record for scoring goals. He is young, has potential to improve, has all the technical and tactical attributes to thrive in the sort of team envisioned by Brendan Rodgers.

At 12m, history will show him to be a steal. Like it/him or not, he IS coming and he WILL help out the group and significantly improve our frontline.
Fair to say he would be the most natural finisher amongst the group.

Due credit to the supremos for promptly springing into action to swiftly secure this important piece of business early.
Credit as well to Chelsea, Sturridge and all parties involved for conducting themselves with dignity and giving the matter the urgency it deserved (remember Oyston/Charlie Adam, Commoli/Suarez/Ajax or, more recently, the Dempsey debacle).

Ed, exactly how real is our interest in the lad Tom Ince? What proposal would be acceptable to Blackpool and how far apart are both parties on it? Finally, apart from Jeffren, what alternative loan options do you see viable for LFC this Jan?

Thanks, and a funfilled festive to everyone.

Ray Burmeister

He's already having an impact on the team imo. That's why Downing has really started fighting for his spot in the last couple of games. He even made eurosport.com european team of the week. slodge

Hi Guys i know our current standing on the league table dosn't reflect on how a team of our glorious stature. But in Rodgers i have a funny feeling it is where our bright future lies. The football is entertaining and attractive and with a few new faces in to give us that bit more diversity up front i cant see why next year we cant be pushing for the title. I know it sounds all the same but i have a good feeling he knows what hes doing !

Merry Xmas all !

Hopefully the presence of a couple of new faces may kick us on. fourth place is still up for grabs and with a bit of extra firepower may just be enough to see us over the line.

I'm not the biggest fan of Sturridge, more for his attitude than his lack of talent, but if he works on his game (and ego) he can be a quality premier league player (not world class). Let's be honest with the amount of chances we create / squander, even Harry Redknapps missus could bag a few !

Hi Eds,

Is there any known reason why Assaidi isn't getting much of a chance in the team. I know he was injured but from what I can make out it cleared up weeks ago. Anytime I've seen him play he looked energetic and creative and was putting the opposition full backs under pressure. He seens more direct and incisive than the other options available.

Thanks and Happy Christmas,

A very Happy Christmas and New Year to all the Editors and all involved in the running of this website.

Its been a momentous year for sport in general in the UK but even more so in respect of Liverpool and the 96 (God rest their souls)

As an ex-pat currently living in the USA I thank you for allowing me to remain part of the Liverpool family through the auspices of the 'Liverpool Rumours' site.

Sometimes it makes me homesick but mostly it reminds me of my place of birth and how lucky I am to be a Liverpool supporter.

I wish everyone who uses the site all the Very Best for 2013 but (like all of us) I wish us mega success on the pitch for the remainder of this season and onwards...

Have a Happy and Peaceful Christmas from across 'The Pond'

MikeInUSA {Ed049's Note - Thank You Mike and have a good one.}

25 Dec 2012 03:15:33
Rogers wants As well as sturridge another striker so suarez can play supporting role as at ajax in a 4-3-3 attacking formation cutting in with the mystery man playing out and out CF. Darren Bent seems the cheapest option, possible other players gamiero zarete or huntlaar. But my hope is he goes for insigne from napoli.

25 Dec 2012 03:03:41
Andy Carroll was shopping in my store on regent street yesterday and he said that he was gutted to of left on loan and Definetly wouldn't be back in January transfer window but he 100% wants to come back next season and prove himself. I really hope he is given a chance as he offers a different option we are lacking up front. Merry Christmas guys.

Jkjk23

Yeh he offers the lazy, slow and below average option that could be of good use to us. RedTurk

Different options???????

For his drive and performances at the end of last season I'd like to see him do well at lfc. But for too mant seasons we've been happy for some1 to put in a good shift. That's got us nowhere. We need clinical players who take there chance when they get it. Merry Xmas to all

Different option I mean instead of small technical players we can offer a different approach. Carroll could hold the ball up and bring Suarez and sturidge into the game. He didn't get a chance when he was fully fit and I think a front 3 of Suarez sturidge and Carroll would cause a lot of problems next season. Then with sterling borini suso and a couple of new recruits we would actually have some strength in depth going forward.

Merry Christmas all

Jkjk23

Happiest of Christmases to all fellow reds and all of those who make the site possible. Brendan, whatever you do, keep the lads off the roast tatties, and make sure it's Liverpool doing the stuffing on Boxing Day.

Hi eds, hope you're well.
I was wondering if you could explain to me what the benefit of these pre-agreed transfer fees on loan deals are to the host club?
The way I see it this caroll loan is the aqualani to milan loan all over again. Milan/West Ham take a player on loan and agree a fee to buy the player if they wish, this is clearly going to disrupt the player as its telling him he's no longer needed, if the player plays badly then they just finish the loan and the player returns to liverpool most likely unsettled and wanting to leave, ala aqualani, and if he plays well Milan/WH decide to purchase but refuse to pay the set price and try to negotiate down to a lower price knowing the player wants to leave and Liverpool aren't in a strong place to negotiate.
Am I missing something or is this type of loan a lose/lose situation for the host club?
Thanks, eds and posters please leave your thoughts
Puzzled Red.

{Ed002's Note - It is both sides taking a risk on a transfer fee that they agree to at the start. Both see it as an advantage. Typically they go through but Aquilani was unusual un that it did not. You really need to see the terms of the agreement and that information is normally not shared by English clubs.}

So would you expect WH to pay the pre-agreed amount IF they choose to buy or is it impossible to say at this point?
Thanks
