Must have a browse. As far as I can tell from talking to a Manc I know, the fanbase is divided between people who think Moyes is a chimp, and those who think it's Fergie's fault for signing a load of 'meh' players, especially in midfield, and expected this to happen once his force of will was taken out of the dressing room.

Guy I know falls into the latter category. He said he'd quite happily see half their team have their contracts terminated because he reckons they're using the management change as an excuse to not try.

Still, until they're out of the Champions League and 9th come May, I'm not going to put the boot in.

Agree0 Disagree0

Whiskey nose retired because he knew the era was over and got his 'friend' in.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fergie knew this team was on its knees and jumped ship so as not to get the blame whaen crap starts hitting the fan. He wanted Moyes to come in and asked the crowd to "stand by the manager". Seems like he knew crap would hit the fan when he said that. Funny that he would always show up at the games in a way to indirectly pile more pressure on Moyes who was a clueless manager to begin with. Part of their current situation is as much Fergie`s doing as it is Moyes`.

Agree0 Disagree0

United dominated not only because of Fergie, but because they could dominate the transfer market and buy the best players (Ferdinand, Rooney, Ronaldo, Vidic, etc). Those days are over, and Fergie knew it. Hence the plea to give Moyes time.

hey guys hope all is well,
I've got to admit United's failure today has brightened up a somewhat bad start to the week. (I was jumped and mugged by 5 scally cowards in the city centre last night)

on a brighter note anyone know what's the best way to get tickets for any of the Liverpool games on a student budget.

thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Don't worry little toe rags will be locked up for large periods of there lifes mate and try join the lfc website pal

Agree0 Disagree0

The only way of properly getting tickets for a decent price is to buy them directly of LFC as far as I know, I don't think there will be any general sales though due to the remaining home fixtures being pretty big games, your best bet would be to make a membership and try to get some in next year right at the beginning when the fixtures are announced and first go on sale.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hope u`re ok after the encounter.

Ha Ha, what a shower United are at the moment. Not much sign of our gloating Manchester United friend recently, all last summer I spent reading his crowing, patronising remarks on here. Now nothing, not a sausage.

Anyone remember that old Toffee crisp advert?
Sydney! are you there?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think sydney needs to change his sign off name on here what was it chicken little seems he's more a little chicken to come on here anymore but

Hello eds,

What if 3 of the four English teams get out in last 16 will there still be 4 champion league places for the premier league? and are we close to getting a spot taken away from us?

thank you

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - it won't affect next year, as that has already been allotted. It is done over a number of years, so it would certainly put the 4th CL spot in jeopardy for a few years.}

Ed001, should it be a genuine concern or do you believe that the premier league will give a better showing in the next couple of years? I would hope if we were to qualify for next we would represent the league well enough, but football is a funny old game.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I feel it is a one off, due to managerial changes at three of the clubs that qualified.}

25 Feb 2014 22:00:06
A non football question. I just finished reading Carra's autobio, what a brilliant read it is. One of the better football related books i've read. Can the guys here suggest some other Liverpool books or any football related books for that matter?

S.G.L.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Secret Diary of a Liverpool Scout.}

I'll be sure to check it out ED. Thanks for the reply.

S.G.L.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is not the most exciting read, but it is a fascinating insight into the mind of a man who was as responsible for Liverpool's great years as just about anyone.}

I've heard that Fowler's bio is also a pretty good read. I've also got Bellamy's bio, which I plan to read next.

S.G.L.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I should have recommended that too, sorry, it is a good book. Hamann's book is not bad, though a bit lacking in any substance, apart from pointing out what a useless arrogant tosser Mark Hughes is.}

Tommy Smith's book is a cracker an all.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - good one, that is excellent. Might have to reread that one now.}

And if you type 'Bob Paisley interview 1978' on YouTube, there's 23 little minutes of gems there too ed.
Recorded off a radio interview.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, I will do that when I get a chance. Paisley was an absolute genius.}

Has anyone taped / linked the '60 minutes with Kevin Keegan' progy off Lfctv?

Agree0 Disagree0

Historically Kenny's first book is good as is Graham Sounnes's for an alternative view.

40 Years With The Same Bird is a good read, Fowlers is interesting as is Keegan's original auto bio. Gerrads is great especially on his England duties. However Carra's is the most enjoyable so far.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not Liverpool related like the lad asked but Ronnie Woods book is unbelievable

Agree0 Disagree0

Alan Hansens is a good read, avoid Michael Owens like the plague its so boring, ouside LFC Tony Adams, Stuart Pearce & Vinnie Jones aren't too bad

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Stuart Pearce? Apart from his lies regarding Hillsborough being the fault of drunken fans, despite admitting he never saw anything and was locked in the dressing room the entire time, the book is dross! Pearce is a complete tool, but the book even lacked that complete lack of charm that the he displays on a daily basis. It was just boring. Vinnie Jones was ok, poorly written and lacking depth though, but ok because Jones is one hell of a character. It just didn't really show enough of his character. I have not read Adams' book, but it should be interesting.}

A great book I read recently (although not entirely about LFC) was 'Soccernomics: Why Transfers Fail, Why Spain Rule The World And Other Curious Football Phenomena Explained'. it explains everything from why football clubs are a poor investment to statistical proof of predicting penalties. As the dodgy title suggests, it's kinda like freakenomics for the football fan.

I remember all the pundits saying that Rvp
and Rooney was a better partership than Sturridge and Suarez. Hmmm looks like it!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

SGL, a MUST read is The Epic Swindle, about the H & G era, very enlightening, some home truths about how badly the club was run (prior to H&G's arrival) two major failings in my opinion was lack of foresight about building "the brand" and the stadium development, or rather lack of it. It then goes on to the takeover saga and our near miss in being bought by DIC.
I couldn't put this book down and read it in 2/3 nights(and into early hours).

One book I would steer clear of is Sami Hyppia's, absolute nightmare to read due to obscure place names and peoples names that you had to re-read to make sure what they were, jibbed it after about 60 pages and haven't picked it up since.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes I have heard about it, I was thinking about giving it a read. You commented on the wrong thread though.
Hah, thanks mate, i'll let the site know how the book turns out after i've given it a read.

Moyes making my week yet again, losing against a team we beat with Robbie Fowler on the pitch (I know it was a friendly, good to gloat ;) )

However, the English teams results are worrying me, not even a goal scored yet from us lot, I know it's Barca and Bayern and. Uniteds own impotence, but still. It's a bit embarrassing, I actually WANT chelsea to win tomorrow just to have a team through.

IF we get back I can't wait to watch Allen against the European possession sides, that's when he will be at his best. it's games like Olympiakos tonight when their players dawdled so long on the ball, and took so long to make a pass you can just imagine Hendo closing them down so quickly and starting a counter with Luis, Danny and Raheem who would destroy that defence. I know I shouldn't get ahead of myself but our future is definetely brighter. YNWA alone lads have a good week.

Well played Olympiakos. It just gets better to see how hapless Manchester United are this season.

Perhpas they should re-sign RVP on £350,000 per week and Giggs on £400,000 a week and pretend that they are still a top side,

Wonder what Fergie thinks.actually I don'tgive a damn what he thinks.

Looking forward to seeing our boys at the weekend.

We are leaving Utd for dead this season They can only marvel at the quality of our attacking play at the moment.

What does everyone think about Mourinho's comments being leaked? I think if you talk as much as he does then it's inevitable. Or perhaps it's karma after all the nonsense he's spouted.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think it is typical Mourinho the way he has tried to turn the story around and deflect the blame from himself.

He criticises his own players, mocking their age and abilities behind their back, yet says the journalist should be embarrassed and ashamed about the situation.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - to be fair, no one should be recorded in secret unless they are doing something to break the law. Though he shouldn't have said it either. So both were in the wrong for me.}

I agree Ed001, although you have to admit, with all he's been saying recently (e.g. 'Specialist in failure'), he really had it coming. He's an arrogant, overpaid c*ck- I just wish he wasn't so good!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - like I said, I am torn. I know I would be annoyed with anyone secretly taping me, but then I would not say anything like that behind someone's back, so he has to accept he was in the wrong too.}

Eoto is 32 maybe 35 classic why sign him then?

Agree0 Disagree0

Its karma and its arrogant - he'll have the funds to blow on a world class striker if he wants to so he can slag his current players off knowing better will be coming in. Classless egotist getting what he deserves. The British press (*cough* London press *cough*) worship the ground he walks on though, you won't hear anything of this tomorrow.

Agree0 Disagree0

If you live by the sword, you die by the sword.

Mourinho manipulates the media more than any other manager (now Fergie has gone). He can't complain when the media turns on him.

Agree0 Disagree0

A nice bit of karma for Jose there! Entrapment at its finest.

Ok lads out of the last say 10 years and last 5 years what Liverpool players do you wrecking regrets leaving the club the most for example torres and owen come to mind mirelas (spelling) and Liverpool ed's join in

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Charlie Adam said in an interview he feels he left a year to early. Danny Murphy also springs to mind. I don't think Torres regrets anything he is paid very well.

Agree0 Disagree0

For me it has got to be the decision not to sign Anelka after his loan spell with us. With the striking options it left us with it was a huge mistake at the time.

Also Jari, was such a talent and wasn't utilized properly.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gutted when Alonso left, took us 4 years to recover

Agree0 Disagree0

Anelka shout is a good 'un Chris - he was superb for us and he even said himself he felt settled at the club. Was typical Houllier to let him go and sign Diouf - he had some howlers in the transfer market.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd have liked to have seen babbel stay longer.(just outside the decade) Alonso I think we regret selling.

Owen I think really really regrets leaving Liverpool, he always seems so bitter about us.

Personally never got why we got rid of friedel and kept james then bought westerveld. I was young at the time and eds mentioned the keeping coach at Liverpool was terrible at the time of westerveld, but of the 3 I always thought Friedel was much more consistent and generally better.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Torres must regret leaving, I mean he wasnt in the best of form but you could see he was just getting back into form, think he scored in the games leading up to him leaving, now look at him played sparingly at a club that doesn't love him anywhere like we did and he is lucky to score double figures.
However, the money we got from him helped get Luis so i'm not complaining lol

Agree0 Disagree0

Keegan for me.
But we got an incredible replacement!

Agree0 Disagree0

Torres. Even though he's money obsessed, surely he regrets leaving Liverpool

Hello Ed001, when referring to Grass roots football, I was talking about youth levels.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - ah ok, because grass roots is usually in reference to non-league football mate, that was why I was confused and now I have completely forgotten the question, d'oh!}

Lol, the question was are there any concerns with the younger generations in English football. If there are, what plans are being implemented and do you feel they will be effective.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - unfortunately, while the FA do look at it on a regular basis, they always appoint an out of touch dinosaur to decide what to do. So far they have come up with plans that involved Howard Wilkinson setting up the coaching schemes, so that youngsters could learn to jump high and kick further. Nowadays it is down to the academy system to bring through the youngsters, and that seems to be a bit better than things were. It is still lacking decent coaches, as the coaches have to go on the exact same course to get their qualifications. Those courses are designed by dinosaurs, in return for them not needing to get the qualifications to manage. Ferguson was one of the guys who is responsible for the coaching courses, this despite him not actually doing the coaching at Man Utd for the last 20 years! That just shows how little use the coaching courses are.}

25 Feb 2014 17:53:04
Anyone think Micah Richards could do a job for us?
Can play RB, CB and DM and at 25 with a year left on his contract could turn out to be a decent buy.
Wasting away at City and has said he will look for a move away if he is not playing regular football.
Could BR do another Sturridge and buy him quite cheaply and turn him into a quality defender?
Your thoughts?
vrcomp
Y.N.W.A.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No, three reasons:

1) Injury prone

2) High wages

3) attitude

Agree0 Disagree0

Attitude???
Like sturrdige ha

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think attitude is necessarily an issue. He's not lazy like Glen, he's more of a 'bad boy' like Sturridge and Suarez both have histories of.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he is more of an arrogant, strutting, full of himself knob, nothing like either Sturridge or Suarez. More like Ravel Morrison, a wannabe big man, who thinks he already knows it all.}

Nothing like Sturridge, you expect a striker to have a me first attitude, but a full back? Really? No thanks.

Agree0 Disagree0

I was been smart I don’t think he has attitude problems on the pitch recent injuries would turn me of but I think he would be a good signing rogers would bring the best out in him i'm sure

Agree0 Disagree0

Only so many players of that ilk you can have though. It disrupts the dressing room and affects on field performances - regardless of what he could bring individually I think he's be more of a hindrance than a help to the team.

Southampton are dangerous and play against us very well, United games can go either way irrespective of form and Cardiff look woeful under Solskjaer but with our defence I would still expect us to concede.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well as southampton are our recent bogey team my head says 2-1 to southampton, or maybe 2-2. but my heart 2-3 to us

not lfc related, I can't believe england are only just considering a sports phycologist now. In this day and age . Even back when England won rugby world cup in Australia and every Olympic athlete use them to achieve there medals and goals. No wonder we keep losing in tournaments as European teams have also been using em for the last for years. lfc now use one and now look at the improvement.

Hey Eds and Reds,

Ed001, I wanted your opinion about United fans expectations for summer transfers. I know it's nothing to do with us, but I see them all clamouring for Kroos, Gundogan, Varane, Shaw etc.

My question is do you feel like those targets are realistic for where they are? Surely lack of champions league next season would work against them?

Cheers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - money is a big motivator. They can afford to pay what it takes to convince people.}

I taught the glazers have them in major debt? Is that not why they have the green and yellow scarfs thing going

Agree0 Disagree0

Best to watch: Ronaldo, CR7, Messi, Gerrard, Henry, Roberto Carlos, Zidane, Figo, Deco and Suarez.

Consistent top performer: Cafu, Maldini, Kahn, Scholes, Giggs, Shearer, Klose, Xavi, Totti, Makelele and Nesta.

20 years is one hell of a spectrum!

Agree0 Disagree0

Mine would be biased but player I have watched and worshiped as a kid was God. Fowler.

Agree0 Disagree0

I was a massive fan of Thierry Henry.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mine was the Brazilian Ronaldo. I followed his career like the most avid fanboy and the way he used to score goals just enthralled me.

Agree0 Disagree0

On his day Ronaldinho was head and shoulders above any other player I have ever seen, completely and utterly unplayable when he was on song and scored worldies for fun. Shame he was a lazy bugger training wise or he could have been at the very top for a decade or more.

Why are fans taking the Valdes rumours seriously?

Come on fellow Reds, his transfer is against all FSG requirements: He is a veteran (being kind, here) so no sell on value, He will be expensive, no value for money and most importantly of all, IMO he is rubbish, or at the very least nowhere better than Mig. so just laugh it off.
YNWA

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed023's Note - Kolo Toure fall into this policy?}

Is Luis Alberto injured? Any idea why he has not featured recently? He seems to have fallen behind Ibe, Texiera and Moses (the latter is understandable perhaps).

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ibe has gone on loan to brum, Moses plays out wide, its much easier to bring on a winger than a central midfielder, if we are winning, we would probably sacrifice countinho for Allen, and teixera has only had one game, and impressed me! Alberto seems to have class but gave the ball away a bit too much!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes Ibe has now gone on loan. I was quite impressed by the rare glimpses we got of Alberto - did not pick up on him losing the ball.

He obviously does not have manager's confidence from training. Looks like he will be loanded out next year to get more game time.

Excellent. 4 days before a crucial home game against Tottenham. Why do we have to suffer because Sunderland didn't want 3 games in 7 days. Now we end up with 3 games in 8 days just to fit in with Sunderlands cup final. Ridiculous decision by the FA and anyone else who may have had a say in this. let's just hope Tottenham stay in the Europa league so they don't end up with more time than us to prepare.

I have not have the chance to watch our youth team play. But any of you guys know any goalkeeper from our youth team who has the potential and quality to play in the first team in the next two or three years?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Feb 2014 14:05:22
Yusuf Mersin and Danny Ward are the front runners. I'd say Ward is the more agile keeper (similar to Lloris in terms of style) whilst Mersin is more an all round traditional keeper. You just can never tell with keepers till they are thrown in the deep end. Peter Gulacsi and Dean Bouzanis looked like great keepers but look what happened there. My heart says Danny Ward as I'd love a British keeper in the Liverpool net (and a good keeper for the future of the Welsh National side). Honestly though, my head says Mersin is the better prospect.

Hello eds and fellow reds. Might be a silly question, but are lfc still owed money from the Torres transfer? Been hearing rumours for a while that chelski still owe somewhere in the region of £15m. If so, why haven't lfc called the money in? thanks. Ynwa.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are not owed any money.}

No, Chelsea paid up front they wanted him so much, the 15m is an urban myth/b*******.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Feb 2014 13:17:29
I'm really not sure if I want Valdes (although I wouldn't be dissapointed). He is an experienced keeper who knows all about playing with the ball on the deck. He's also very agile for a keeper and quick off his line. He would be a good option to have as well as Mingolet. That would make Valdes first choice and Migs as the younger understudy (don't forget he's mid 20's which is very young for a keeper). My only problem with Valdes is he is only 6 feet tall. We are crying out for a keeper who can dominate his box. Someone who will come and claim the ball and bark at his defenders. He is an okay shot stopper and good in one on one situations but so is Mingolet. Is he better than Migs? Yes, because he has better distribution and is a better decision maker, despite being a slightly wore shot stopper. Valdes is also better at utilising his whole body to stop shots (feet etc). But neither are commanding 'Oliver Kahn' types.

If he came in on a free transfer for a minimal signing on fee and accepted a performance based contract, I'd take him. I like Mingolet, but I think he's in the same position as De Gea and Joe Hart. A great keeper with holes in his game that could yet be plugged, yet to reach his peak. Valdes is in his peak years though and if we want to challenge at the top level, we need that. I'd love Reina back if he would give 100% but let's face it, he doesn't want to be here anymore.

Anyway, odds are we won't even sign Valdes, but I do hope we bring in an experienced keeper to be first choice and maybe set an example to Migs as well as force him to up his game.

YNWAdam

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No way is it even close, mignolet has more holes compared to hart and de gea.
Mignolet isn't comfortable with his feet, can't command his area properly distribution needs a lot of work, isn't as vocal as most keepers should be we only overlook most of his flaws because he is a fantastic shot stopper.
The few games brad jones has played he has looked more like the no 1 imo.still don't know why we didn't sign begovic

Valdes is not the keeper we are crying out for. He is another Reina and his shot stopping leaves a lot to be desired - would be a waste of wages/signing on fee in my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

Valdes is a terrible keeper, his frailties were masked over the last decade or so by Barcelonas brilliant midfield and attack.
He stays too deep in 1 on 1's never cuts off his near post and is constantly beaten there by low drives, his kick out generally aren't that good. I never base a spanish keepers ability to guard from corners from la liga either, due to the fact the ball isn't in the air all that often. Overrall, I think if we wanted a ball playing keeper like that, we'd be better off sticking with pepe.

To all reds fans. Please read the blog by Simon Steers on LFC official website with the title "Blog: The most exciting since 1987-1988". The best blog I have ever read on our current squad.

Would you post a link I can't find it cheers

Fantastic to see you applaud Shelvey goal on Sunday, at such a crucial stage of the game I can not think of another set of fans who would have that same ability to put their own interest aside.

Once again you set the standed the rest of us are light years away from.
You are in great danger of giving football supporters a good name.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hello gunner. yes shelvey deserved it, great goal. he is hugely liked around Liverpool. especially when we gave it big time to fergy! he left for the right reasons too, he didn't want to sit on the bench he wanted to play. fair play and the best of luck to him.

thanks gunner, if we don't get to get our hands on the league I hope u do! best of luck for the rest of the season mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

LFC supporters are the best in the world not just in England.

I got to a game at Anfield against Newcastle (early 90s I think), and Shearer was brought on as a sub after a lengthy time out injured, and Anfield gave him a standing ovation. Nice touch by our fans.

Good Morning Eds,

I know that if Liverpool finish 4th and Man U won the CL ( while outside the top 4) they would QL for the CL and we would be bumped in the ER. Looking back to the 04/05 season when we won the CL and Everton finished 4th how come they were not demoted in the same way?

Regards

{Ed002's Note - Rules change.}

25 Feb 2014 09:58:11
The rules were changed so that England would not again have 5 representatives in the competition!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - England may well lose a 4th place in the CL unless Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal continue to do well.}

Eds, what do you think to the rules, fair or not?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - They are fair.}

With their current squad Man U will not win the CL, that I am sure. Anyway I think we will finish in the first three position this season. Hope its first!

so we really need chelsea r utd to get to the semi finals at least to keep the 4th place viable r is it under pressure for next season we will be for an english club to get at least last 4.

Lots of supporters starting to get carried away on here about us getting the 4th. CL spot.
I say. let's go back to taking one game at a time.
Just because we have opened the gap over Tottenham to 6 points doesn't mean we can count our chickens just yet.
I am sure there are still many twists and turns to come in the remaining matches and no one would love to see us in the CL next season more than me.
But this talk about who we will buy and how much more money we will get has to die down a little.
We still have spuds to play. City and Chelsea to Anfield. Utd away. There's some points we could drop there if were not careful.
And there's still the spectre of an unlikely Utd victory in this season's CL that would mean 4th place would get the Europa spot.
Too many if's for me at this minute in time.
Were playing fantastic football. And in a fair world we deserve to be playing in CL next season. But nothing is a given and it won't be easy.
Like I say. One game at a time.

I agree. Games away to Utd and home to spurs will be Key!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think all the away games could be problems Dave TBH.
We don't seem as confident on our travels and I think there could be some points dropped there.
Spuds will be up for the clash and will want to try and punish us for there humiliation at the lane. Chelsea will probably come and park the bus and try to nick a 1-0 and if the real City turn up they will give us a game.
Utd away will be no gimmie as they seem to have found a little cohesion from there jolly in Dubai.
Its only 11 games but fans on here seem to think its all over and we are a shoe in for the 4th spot.
I never take these things for granted.
It would only take SAS to go a few games without scoring and we could be in a battle.
Hope I am wrong and we push on and make a challenge for the top. But for me I will keep saying it.
"One game at a time" at least till the end of March and see where we are at then.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree. 6 points is absolutely nothing. We were top not too long back, a few weeks later we were scrapping for 4th, now a few weeks later, we're on about winning the whole thing. United were 5 pts behind, now there 11, Everton were 1 point, now there 11. Spurs were nowhere, no there on our heels - all within a matter of weeks.

33 points is a huge amount. There is still so much to play for.

Agree0 Disagree0

Quite agree vrcomp, March is going to be a hard month our next 3 games are away and then spurs at home, one game at a time is the right philosophy to have.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think top 3 should be our aim just to be sure.

Agree0 Disagree0

And come to think, some actually feel we're going to get the title this term.

Agree0 Disagree0

All this talk of Top 4 and us winning the League with 11 games to go is crazy.

Still have some really tough games both home and away starting with Saints at the weekend!

As others have said, one game at the time!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think see where we are after the city game, I hope that we are still in that 4th spot, but my god do we make it hard for ourselves away from home and we have so many potential banana skins coming up away from anfiled. But keep the faith Y.N.W.A

Agree0 Disagree0

If we win our next two games, and Chelsea beat Spurs, we will be 9 points clear with 9 games to go.

So if we just knuckle down and take care of business next couple of weeks, we will be fine.

Hi Edd's Just reading the stories about Valdes possibly being a target for us surely he is too old at 32 and would want far too much money. That said he would improve us, as I believe one of the reasons that the defense has been so poor in recent games is a lack of confidence in Mignolet he hardly comes out to catch the ball punches it when he could catch it does not command his area like Reina did (but his performance levels dropped of over the last two years)
Mignolet is a great shot stopper but there is a panic in the ground when it is floated across our area so do you expect us to look at other goal keepers in the summer or keep faith with what we have

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of interest.}

32 for a GK is not excessively old.
What would be a stumbling block is the signing on fee and wages IMO.
Would be a great show of intent if he were to come.
But think there are other area's that could do with addressing before we spend here.
And if Ed02 says he is unaware of any interest that will do for me.

The main stumbling block is that Valdes is just not very good, Mig is a better keeper as is Reina. In fact Jones is a better keeper!

It has been a while since I last posted, but in my last post it was in regards to Allen and Hendo stepping up when Lucas and Stevie got injured, I know Steve has been back for a while and I have to admit he is adjusting to his new role very well although he is not as good as Lucas yet in the role he obviously brings so much more to the role also. Hendo has for me been outstanding with his commitment and his box to box agility we couldn't ask for more a future captain?
Allen has not had as many opportunities with Steve in the side but he proved yet again what a talented young player he is, the notable change in the team when he came on and his energy were great, I would have preferred keeping Sterling on and I would have taken Coutinho off as I think Sterling is stronger offensively and as has been evident he can tackle also his pressure for the first goal and then the pass sublime. :)

Agger was back to soon and will take a few more weeks to get his fitness and speed back As for Johnson I don't know why BR can't see it but he is woeful and should be left out of the squad altogether, I would prefer Cissoko in that position anyday ahead of a want away Johnson which exposed Agger way to often. We need another wingback like Flanno who for his age is impressing me more and more.

On the whole I am very happy, we have it all to play for simply put if we win all our remaining games we win the league and offensively we certainly have the fire power, having said that I very much doubt we will win the remaining fixtures (but I am starting to dream).

Ed, are we really going to renew G Johnson's contract? Is the talk of a paycut true?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I have no interest in discussing the wages of players.}

24 Feb 2014 23:18:12
Hi eds

Just wondering whether you have heard of any interest in Sturridge and if so what price bracket is he now in, in your opinion?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of interest in him.}

25 Feb 2014 03:28:53
Hopefully we sign DM cover this summer, and though the 2 players may not be possibilities for us, who would you rather have if we were to sign either Schneiderlin or Medel? Would love to hear anyone's including the Eds' preferences also.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - either would be great, though I would personally prefer Medel, that is more because of his wages and price would be lower.}

I'd love Medel, if Cardiff go down, do you think we could make a move?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Maybe at best.}
