Fellow Liverpool dreamers

Please stop asking or saying Aguero is going to sign. The Ed's have told everyone whats going to happen to him and you have just got to take it. Agueros own team mates have said that he wants to join Real Madrid and there is your biggest proof that he will not be on our hallowed turf next season. However, if he does go to Real then I think the Benzema story will start and he will be playing on our shores if the interest is still there. The way he was playing last year I think he will be a great player and his partnership up front will be a great one better than Carrol and Suarez. I think Carroll is rubbish and makes us play the long ball game. Carroll should be used as a sub whihc is a shame as we spent silly money on him. But realistically he can't jump or head a ball and is over weight. He needs to realise that he needs to stop boozing. 35m misspent I think. I am hoping for Benzema rather than Aguero any ways as Aguero is similiar to Suarez and slightly overrated. I just hope Liverpool don't flaff around in the market and miss out on players. Need some wide men quick

25 May 2011 23:41:19
Do u reckon there doin to pacheco what they did with spearing?send him out onloan then when he comes back to anfield a stronger player start easing him in to the liverpool team???

ANY THOUGHTS?

25 May 2011 23:38:28
Aguero will come to Lfc 3 reasons why
1= best mate is maxi
2=won't go to madrid because he still loves athletico and madrid are rivals
3=we have the money

25 May 2011 23:19:31
Alright Ed mate.

What's your opinion on Spearing in the future?
I hear you guys talking about players like matuidi and sissoko potentially being signed and i'm struggling to see where he would fit in.

Thanks
Stu.

25 May 2011 23:17:09
aguero will not be joining liverpool fc as his salary demands are far to high for our pay structure. also he has stated he doesnt see liverpool fc as an 'attractive' opportunity.

25 May 2011 23:13:41
Adam, Downing and Dann to come in with Prem experience. Those three improve our squad depth and first 11 immediately. Two more signings from overseas, another winger, probably Marveaux and a striker, young and probably south American. Five solid signings and a top four finish.

Joey Barton?? what ya think?

25 May 2011 22:57:27
Joey Barton to Liverpool - I wish everyone would give the lad a break people are like ohhh no!!! Not Joey Barton. I think he would be a good addition to the squad let the lads football do the talking. I think Kenny would get the best out of him

============================

A bit difficult to give someone who "grew a hitler like mustache and simulated a Nazi salute on the pitch" a break.
I think he is a good footballer, but sometimes other things are more important.

What about that ricky van wolfswinkel or however u spell it, young and a good goalscorer

Liverpool fanatics do you fink DANIEL PACHECO has got a future at liverpool or are you like me and want him to succeed at anfield?????

25 May 2011 22:50:24
what the crocodile hat?? whoever came up with this utter nonsense of dodgy swaps n exchanges to benefit another club in regards to not paying fees or whatever else is being implied should be barred!posts like these ruin the reputation of this wonderful site no-one wants to read this garbage and we certainly don't want others to think we're a bit deluded in the sense that we'd actually believe it to be the case c'mon we're better than fellow reds, ed whats your stand on all this please tell me we're on the same page here?..JG {Ed001's Note - I just thought it was funny enough to not get shunted with the normal lunacy posts in the bin.}

25 May 2011 22:48:27
Me? I post very regularly and am quite frankly irritated at being ignored from this list.

You want a debate, fine then.
Riera and Pennant. Quality wingers, but were they worth all the shtick that came with them?

YNWA! (Adam)
================================
I think we (LFC) got our moneys worth out of Pennant, and if Rafa gave him a bit more love we would 've got another good year out of him.

As for Reira, I wont call him quality, he was a bit like Maxi is these days, a couple of games where he shines then goes missing for most of the season.

Dont be irritated, we all get ignored, when I feel it, I just post something stupid to ed002 and have a good laugh at his responses, cause he is BTL.

Just spotted the Xabi Alonso interview (bits and pieces of it) on the official website.

Unusually over the top from the club's website imo it's almost like they are itching to tell us more...

Xabi to return ?

Can't believe Ed06 thinks it would be a good idea to bring Insua back, this guy must be one of the worst full backs to play for a top prem team, he's got no pace, got the turning circle of an oil tanker, is rubbish going forward and really poor defensively but apart from that he's really good !!! Can't believe any Liverpool fan doesn't believe it's a top priority to bring a top quality left back.All the best teams have good full backs who have the ability to get forward, this is an area we are sverely lacking in and needs to be sorted out if we are to have any hope of getting back to the top where we belong.Most of what the Ed's say makes sense but this one is way off the mark. Also on a seperate thread, who in their right mind thinks we would have Robbie Keane back let alone pay money for him!!!

25 May 2011 22:37:02
He looks a gud player with lots of promise that WIJNALDUM!!
I fink he could do a good job for us.

£25million to £30million for RVP sicknote, after Comolli saying they did not want any injury prone players! I very much doubt it.

---------------------------------------------------

Despite being a sicknote Van Persie scored 22 goals in 23 games - there is not a team in Europe who would not pay the money for that sort of return

25 May 2011 22:31:22

25 May 2011 22:20:12
Realistically, who do you think Liverpool will sign this year? Adam, Mata, Dann, we do need cover up front though, another maybe is enrique. What ya think??

25 May 2011 22:20:05
Charlie Adam is better than Alberto Aquilani. I think we should go for him....the faster we do that, the better. CA is a epl proven player and AA is too slow for epl

25 May 2011 22:17:42
Quaresma (8m) elia (10m) mata (21m) and marveux (free) to be our 4 new wingers. Cissocko to be our new lb for 15m and Albiol will partner agger next year and will arrive for 12m. Charlie Adam to come in for 10m and shane long will come in for 7m. Aquillani soto aurellio insua poulson maxi jova cole ngog el zahr to be sold and will raise about 30m

Kun Aguero flew to Argentina last night theres an interview with him at the airport on Marca, seems a huge waste of time going from Madrid to Argentina to Liverpool in the space of 24hrs. Btw in the interview he said he wants to play in Mardrid

---------------------------------------------------

Out of curiosity where do his current team Atletico Madrid play?

Ummm Madrid. Whats your point??

in a recent survey, it shows that 90% of everton fans that attend goodison park are welsh, the other 10% are away fans, in the same survey it also shows that 100% if everton fans are completely disillusional and are obsessed with Liverpool,

the same survey show 100% of everton fans wish there club was half as successful as their neighbours across the park.

25 May 2011 22:12:08
How mad, just been asking the Eds of any interest in him!

25 May 2011 22:06:14
why do we want brad friedel back hes 40 years old and we have one of the best gk's in the prem ? we need a new LB- i would go for mercelo as real have so called got fabio coentrao. also we need another CB- dann, cahill, samba all average players if we need to step up we should got for chillini or thiago silva ? LM/ LW mata would do fine , RM/ RW hulk , hazzard, swp or lennon? CDM - thomas hitzlsperger would be a good replacement for poulson and we could get him on the cheap also good back up player to the first team CM - parker? CAM-taarabt very good season last year and still only young ! final a striker- defoe sturriage or aguero ? if we get 4 or 5 of these players next year we will be in for a shout at the title !

If we don't sign Charlie Adam I will be absolutely GUTTERED!!! He was excellent again tonight!!! Please please please bring Charlie in Kenny.

25 May 2011 21:33:32
The following are some players Im sure we will have to take a look at this summer. Jose Enrique, Santi Cazorla, Dries Mertens, Miguel Danny, Marek Hamsik, Diego, Alexis Sanchez, E.Lavezzi, Mauro Zarate. How do you rate the chances of these players joining the club ed? Some excellent exciting prospects for sure! {Ed002's Note - I am not going to dip in to the x/10 now as clearly some of these guys are right on the edge. Ask again tomorrow.}

25 May 2011 20:59:37
Ed002 - King Kenny has stated we will looking to buy players of the highest calibre. Your a man (i think?) with impeccable contacts for information but you only ever state who we WON'T sign. Who do you think we will sign???

Cheers

Bob {Ed002's Note - It is a much tougher question Bob because I cannot preddict who the club may try and nail. I expect Sylvain Marveaux will join and I suspect an assortment of "decent" players. At the jigher-end, I would if pushed say that Mata may have the edge for the unexpected signing.}

25 May 2011 21:44:50
Who is else is totally sick of the aguero stories??? Give it up, he's not coming, and why would you want him anyway, unproven in a physical league like the epl, unknown response to living abroad 40 million upfront and 200k a week, you'd have to be mad given liverpool's current squad issues to invest our entire transfer budget in a striker

Does John W. Henry know that his chief financial advisor is on this site revealing transfer budgets and strategies? Also could you tell us how long does it take to assess a "response to living abroad " considering that he is an Argentinian who has been living in Spain for 5 years?

One piece of transfer news that I have haerd is that once Benzema signs for Arsenal KK will make a move for RVP as he could play as a lone striker, or as part of a 2 or 3 man strike force. The fee been bandied about is £25million rising to £30million.

Aguero and Coentrao day nearly over can you all start posting nice and early in morning as its Sanchez day. My favourite will be Messi day on sat so any taxi drivers that see Lionel coming out of JL airport between 7-10 please let us all know

25 May 2011 21:41:48
Take it or leave it, rafa benitez was the person that destroyed lfc. He sold a world class midfielder(Xabi Alonso) and brought in an injury player alberto aquilani that we did not even enjoy for a day. what a waste of money !

madrid turmoil madrid tuReal Madrid have announced that director general Jorge Valdano is to leave the club, in what will be seen as a victory for Jose Mourinho.

Valdano: No Mourinho rift
.."We have decided to end the contractual relationship with Jorge Valdano, " Perez said at a hastily-convened news conference at Real's Bernabeu stadium following a meeting of the club's board of directors.

"The experience of this season has shown the need for a new organisational structure giving authority to the coach and avoiding dysfunctions with the directorate general, " he added.

Ed i really don't think anyone like Aguero will come but have you heard of anything happening today. This morning sky bet had him 9/ 1 to join us now hes down to 5/ 1 still don't think he'll join but is this cos theres a very slim chance or cos of so many idiots putting money on it {Ed001's Note - they will always react to the money going on, not fresh information, though they sometimes just cut the odds to stir up some betting from people who think there must be something in it.}

25 May 2011 21:36:43
Why is everyone going on about Aguero? Do we really need him? We already have Carroll and Suarez, maybe another striker could be needed but why kick these 2 players out for Aguero?
We need 2-3 wingers, a CM, CB and a LB. That is the priority.

Don't know if anyone is watching the Wales Scotland 4 Nations match, ( Wales getting battered, no surprise there ) but have been impressed with Adam tonight. Have to say I have been sceptical with us being linked with him as I just didn't think he was good enough and if he was and I was missing something, would have thought he would have been playing for a better team than Blackpool (no disrespect) before this stage of his career. Yes he was at Rangers for a while but was on loan for a lot of his Rangers career to lower sides. Considering he was only deemed to be worth £500,000 2 years ago, I really thought he would be a bad signing for us and I hadn't seen much brilliance to sway me otherwise.
Tonight he has commanded the midfield well, Wales are not the most difficult team to play against, granted, but his vision for the ball into space first time, his crosses and his want to get the team forward has impressed me. And although Wales are not the best competition to judge him against, I think a player like him would be the difference when we are playing the lower teams that we seem to love to drop points against. A player who just because we are a bigger club than someone we may be playing against doesn't automatically expect us to get the 3 points because of who we are and that actually goes out and makes sure we get the 3 points. Just my opinion. Sure there will be plenty who disagree, I would have not so long ago.

Thanks again Eds for your info, your time but most of all with your patience with the same old questions and posts over and over again. I do wonder sometimes why people don't save their time typing a post and just copy and paste the drivel that has already been spouted repeatedly.

One last thing... Michael Owen?????? The only ex-reds I would like to see come back are the ones the Liver bird meant something to in the first place.

Cheers,

WelshScouse

lol we should agree and say yeah sure whyy nott, , , sign aguero then say hahaha yeah right do one, and then go sign a different left back hahaha

25 May 2011 21:29:43
lol i see people saying that aguero has stated he wants to stay in madrid so he must be going to real madrid, yet i can't see anywhere on the internet about him saying that, nor do i see anywhere saying he has said he wants to play for real madrid ED you have any ideas whats going on lol {Ed001's Note - as far as I can find out he is likely to join Real Madrid and always has been likely to. I don't understand why, he is not good enough to get in the Argentina team ahead of Higuain, why would he think he will be able to displace him at club level?}

25 May 2011 21:26:20
We should not be linked with players such as: Adam, Dann or Barton. We should be linked with the likes of Aguero, Mata or Navas. (Not saying that we are, I am just refering to the 'class' of player.)

Yanks For Nothing tom & George

They rode into town, with their ten gallon hats, all
looking smug like a pair of prats.

They promised the earth then reengaged on the deal, when we sold a player, the money they would steal.

The new sacred ground which was supposed to be built, the blueprinted plans lay ever so still, gathering dust to the yanks it's 1 nil.

At the start it looked good, 'The American Dream' we all understood, But the spade in the ground was never to be found.

What can we do to get rid of these two clowns, has it come down to me and you?, Wait! A light in the tunnel , a glimmer of hope, a new buyer with a plan and buyer with scope.

To the courts we were dragged to sort this mess out the cowboys in charge where going no doubt. The club has been saved its returned from the grave, the king has returned to return our once pround name.

Its time to walk on with in hope in our hearts, into the future will the bad times be gone.

Joey Barton to Liverpool - I wish everyone would give the lad a break people are like ohhh no!!! Not Joey Barton. I think he would be a good addition to the squad let the lads football do the talking. I think Kenny would get the best out of him. Bring on next season. Let's face it we are not going to attact players with a chance of European glory. I mean we may get players from European teams who have little chance of success in the major trophies. We really need to push on next season.

25 May 2011 20:59:27
Ed was it true that Alonso was unsettled at Real Madrid because of disagreements with Mourinho and could this make it possible for a return or would he be too old. I do, however, think that he has the style of play that means losing that extra yard doesn't matter as much

Thanks {Ed001's Note - he did have initial disagreements with Jose, I believe that they have settled their differences now though.}

joey barton not being given a new contract at newcastle has just given me shivers. don't want this loser at our great club. says a lot that he was one of their best players and can't get an extension.
also just read about xabi alonso on the sky sports site, thats a player we can be proud of. one of the greatest modern day players to play for us. xabi YNWA.

whats this all about a clause in adam's contract saying they can add another 12 months on lol why didnt they jus say instead of 4 year contract as an example to 5 years lol instead of having a clause, and what was the clause "if we get relegated you have to extend another 12 months" hahaha lost alot of respect with blackpool i use to like them but holding players hostage is disgusting.

On this day in 2005 the greatest game took place. Class of '05 You'll Will Never Walk Alone

Bollards...the team was houlliers, and up until the second half we were s**te...sorry kiddos who never got to watch proper lfc teams under shanks, Paisley, fagan, or dalglish but rafa and his team were cack in comparision....and they won the "so called champions league" by actually being the champions of their league...

Thank god rafa has gone...because he was crap

25 May 2011 20:24:27
Nobody will join us as we don't have CL football. What a load of tosh. Of all the CL qualified clubs only 5-6 are considered big clubs, and only 3-4 with a realistic chance of reaching the finals .There are many players who will not go to RM because they have a track record of ruining players by letting them rot on the bench. VDV, Owen, Kaka Benezema are just a few names that spring to mind recently. You can only start 11 no matter what. Regular first team football and to be part of the reemergence of greatness is what KK is selling and I think there are world class players that will buy it. We will get our big summer signings.

We have to build for at least two years before setting the stage alight. The young talent we have will come to fruitation by than. The question remains will we be patient enough to allow the process to take shape?
We definitely need debt in our squad not only to win trophies but to give confidence to the younger players coming into the first squad to play their heart out.
This window will be one to judge the owner''s will to spend, remember the torres money paid for the january buys.
Good luck reds keep marching on.

25 May 2011 20:14:23
Hey fellow lfc fans what about this player to cover left back and also left wing i saw him at the world cup:

MARCELL JANSEN this guy is a quick powerhouse who can defend?????

check him out and tell me what you fink!

25 May 2011 20:14:10
when you consider the team that as been succesful recently is full of horrible buggers it is is not unwise of king kenny to be interested in Joey Barton he can play a bit hes got plenty edge and he can dig in hes a local lad who just might prove to be one canny Kenny signing don't knock it.

25 May 2011 20:13:01
Like I said, it's all being done QUIETLY, if we discuss without raising our voices then the papers may not get to hear about it. As you know, super injunctions don't apply to the internet or politicians

25 May 2011 20:11:24
People, Fabio Contreao bid accepted from Liverpool is not true, its Real Madrid who have had the bid accepted.

Ed, all of this hype about our transfer window being the best in years with big name signings etc....am I the only one expecting disapointment??

I really don't believe we will sign players good enough for a top 4 push, becuas there all being liekd with teams who have european football

Young - man utd
Adam- Spurs
Payet - Bayern
Sissoko - Lille
Contreao - Madrid
Benzema - Inter
Cahill - Arsenal
Jones- Man city

I for one am really worried

i would be too if i were a 'bluenose' -

25 May 2011 20:06:21
{Ed006's Note - I have read them and don't believe them. I think he will be at Real Madrid next season. If we are looking for a LB I don't see why we don't just bring Insua back and have Robinson as cover.}

ed wtf you want to see insua at left back , he is crap time to sell but would be lucky to get over 1m for him

25 May 2011 20:06:19
I know Joey Barton has had incidents in his personal life. But if you look at him as a player not as a person, he is brilliant. He would fit in perfectly in the Liverpool team either on the right or in the centre of midfield. And also he knows Carroll almost too well and will previde ammunition for him. I believe he would be a great signing. What do you think Ed? {Ed001's Note - he is average, not in the slightest bit brilliant, nor is there anything brilliant about him.}

Good God, the quality of some of the fans on here is getting truly worrying.

Seriously i think the majority of some posters suffer badly with bi-polar. Some blue sky dreams started weeks ago stating 'we are going to sign the world and it's oyster'. I said over and over again that if people continued living in fantasy land, sooner or later it will come back and bite you on the @rse. I was actually thinking these dreamers would fall from a great height in or around the end of August.

I gave them far too much credit. Here we are 25th May and reading the posts tonight there are already people disappointed and feeling really deflated!! Why you ask?

Posters are believing only what they want to believe. The Cointrao (sp?) story broke last week, so i don't know why people have got their knickers in a twist over this. Now when for the umpteenth time they are told it's Real Madrid, it's doom and gloom. Then the story breaks about Joey Barton and all of a sudden the dreamers who think it's Aguero, Benzema, Mata, Ronaldo, now think all we will sign is Warnock, Friedel and Barton!!

AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRR you're getting on my t!ts good and proper :(

Please, please, please with no football to watch or chat about, couldn't we just have a few threads with some sensible comments to chat about and have a decent healthy debate?

I'm finding too much of the time i am just scrolling past the majority of the posts as they are just too ridiculous to bother replying to.

Where are you Mushroom, Red Lenin, Dirk's Engine Room, Blair, Roy, Irish Rover, Lavers, Macca? I'm sure Ed001 and Ed002 would welcome some sensible reading...for once.

Och, just wait and see what Kenny has up his sleeve. I'm sure we'll do well this summer, just believe in him.

Would fan rather we spend £60m for Aguero (we have SUAREZ, they're too similar) and Coentrao (A left-back who CANNOT DEFEND)

OR

£0 Brad Friedel
£7M Scott Dann
£5M Jose Angel/ £8M Jose Enrique
£15M Moussa Sissoko
£25M Juan Mata
£0m Syvlain Marveaux
£8M Charles N'Zogbia/ Matt Jarvis/ Dmitri Payet

Is Fabio Coentrao coming to Liverpool or going to Real Madrid? Not sure what to believe! Thanks {Ed001's Note - Madrid are the team that have agreed a fee for him, not Liverpool.}

-------------------------------

Ed,

Whats the point in spending more than 300 million on players and then winning a single cup in two seasons........Real Madrid are the epitome of what is wrong in the game today??........They spend all this money and still can't get hold of Barcelona......

I believe that the approach by our owners is very good.....Get the young players in......build a team and spirit and enjoy the journey and the process.....

The end need not be a trophy/ silverware but the journey should be fruitful.......of course I am not suggesting that we should not go for trophies but the philosophy we have seen in Barca, Lille and Dortmund this season places a lot of emphasis on the process......

So enjoy the process and then you willl eventually win..... {Ed001's Note - I agree completely, I don't want us to be like City or Unreal Madride, I want us to build a dynasty not a circus.}

Maybe LFC have agreed a fee? We are supposedly doing things quietly remember.

Its obvious from all the posts linking us to a hundred players or more that there will be no patience from supporters to build a new club from the ashes of the cowboys.

We don't need a drastic rebuild if you look at the talent in the reserves and youth teams and we must not give up on these players by signing superstars that was not the way we were brought it was on a quality signing to blend in with the team.

So lets be more realistic and look at this as a 3 year plan from KK and some of these young players will be the backbone of our team YNWA

Rodolfo will be taking charge of the reserves next season , which make sense as half of the under 18s will be stepping up.I really like Rodolfo's style of play. Who Knows, maybe he his being groomed for Kenny's replacement , when the king decides the time's right of course. {Ed001's Note - the reserves league is U21's next season, that is why he is taking it over, it will be an extension of the academy.}

What's the possibility of Glen Johnson staying, i have heard in past that Juve have been interested. Coupled with the emergence of Flanno and Kelly, it seems possible selling him to free up cash for more essential positions???

25 May 2011 19:26:15
I am unaware, as are most of us (aside from the editors) of any genuine transfer bids, negotiations or talks being held with any of the players touted around these pages.
I am though, aware as a fan, of players that should not be in the squad come august.
Most notably;
Cole (will NEVER rediscover early Chelsea form)
Poulsen (bought on tail end of his Juve form)
Konchesky (thanks Roy..)
Jovanovic (one lively world cup, career done)
Thats it for me.
There are many other players that people are suggesting we clear out. I don't understand why we would want to lessen the squads necessary depth, by ridding players such as Kyrgiakos, Maxi, N'gog, and Aquilani.
These players would unfortunately, aside from Aquilani, who may WANT to leave, not bring in enough money to fund suitable SQUAD players, for they are already that. If we sell them to aquire money for higher quality players, we lose the squad depth.
I believe the quality signings will need to be almost entirely funded by the owners. Which I don't see much of an issue with.
I personally hope to see at least 1 world class signing, hopefully a LW, and hopefully Mata.
Centre back would be nice, and an English one would be a bonus, and another striker, but one who is good enough to play, and not too good to complain about playing second fiddle to Suarez. Bojan? Would get more games than at Barcelona, and if Rossi joins them, would slip further down the pecking order.

25 May 2011 19:25:18
Right lets have a look at this...
Coentrao to Real madrid.
Aguero to Real Madrid.
Young to United or stay at Villa.
Marin to Spurs.

This means that:
Marcelo - LB/ LM - 22 - £8m
Benzema - ST - 23 - £30m
Park/ Albrighton - RM/ LM - £10m (no chance of Mancs though)
Lennon - RM - 21 - £10m
could all become available. None of those players want bench football.

Barton(please no) - CM - 28 - £5m
Clichy - LB - 24 - £7m
Nasri - CAM/ LM/ RM - 23 - £10m
Adam - CM - 25 - £8m
All refusing to sign new deals. Fire sales to avoid total loss?

Decent/ useful Free's still un-claimed:

Friedel - GK - 40
Douchez - GK - 31
Bosingwa - RB - 28
Marveaux - LM - 24
Tamir Cohen - CM - 24
Larrson - RM - 25
Klose - ST - 32
Owen - ST - 31 (please no)

Cheap options:
Hitzlesperger - CM - 26 - £5m
Dann - CB - 23 - £7m
Parker - CM - 30 - £8m
Jarvis - RW/ LW - 24- £8m
Long - ST - 24 - £7m
Defoe - ST - 28 - £8m
Krancjar - CAM/ LM/ RM - 26 - £6m
Tomkins - CB - 21 - £4m
DJ Campbell - ST - 28 - £6m
Matt Phillips - RW - 20 - £4m

By a seemingly unfortunate turn of events we could end up with:
Friedel - Free
Dann - £6m
Clichy - £7m
Adam - £8m
Nasri - £10m
Albrighton - £10m
Jarvis - £8m
Marveaux - Free
Benzema - £30m (Marquee) signing perhaps
Long - £7m

Problem positions done. Back up keeper. Young, strong centre back. Decent left back. Back up playmaker. 4 attackers/ wingers. 2 new strikers, one who will challenge Carroll and Suarez. 10 new players, 5 immediately challenging for starting XI, 5 more squad players, all for under £86m. £56m if you exclude the marquee player, who would be funded by player sales anyway. If you doubt a £50m budget. Give me a reason why. £20m from standard chatered. Suarez signed before Torres was sold, and Carroll cost £15m less than Torres brought in, so there is easily £30m kicking about somewhere.
Player sales should generate £30m.

Aquilani - £12m
Cole - £3m
Jovanovic - £3m
Poulsen - £2m
Konchesky - £1m
Jones - £1m
Degen - £1m
El Zhar £1m
Insua - £3m
N'Gog - £3m
Kyriakgos & Aurelio - Free
+other deadwood
= approx £30m

I'd be happy with those 10. Could line-up:

--------------------Reina---------------------
Johnson--------Carra----Agger---------Clichy
----------Gerrard----------Lucas-------------
Jarvis--------------Suarez---------------Nasri
------------------Benzema--------------------

-------------------Freidel-----------------------
Kelly-------Skrtel----------Dann------Robbo/ Flano
----------Meireles---------Adam----------------
Albrighton------------------------------Marveaux
-------------Kuyt--------Carroll------------------

+Shelvey, Maxi, Ayala, Wilson, Gulacsi, Long, Spearing etc

United and Chelsea haven't won the league so many times lately because they have no competition.

YNWA! (Adam)

P.S.I post a different team every day, but they're purely suggestions and opinions. Please post Eds, ino its Long, but it makes good Reading (No pun intetnded).

Sorry, Ed001, which Angel are you angling for? Miguel (keeper) or some defender chap Dealbert. Or a completely different person - Juan Pablo Angel (although probably not) or someone else?

hey ED's this is my first time posting , have use thought that MAYBE not saying its real that benfica have accepted a fee from a BOTH liverpool and real madrid and that coentrao would have to choose between anfield or the bernabeu maybe that is happening , only time will tell i wish he comes to liverpool. {Ed001's Note - the source of the story is a Portugese newspaper that clearly states Real Madrid have agreed a fee. There is no mention of Liverpool agreeing a fee in the article at all.}

Just read somewhere that I couldn't give a f*** who spuds and barca are tracking as we have got the king to return us back to where we belong. I don't care who he signs, tracks or stalks. In Kenny we trust. We are on our way back to the top. Don't worry about the others

Liverpool's Steven Gerrard: I'm in my best shape for years (lies- has had it, one more injury and he will be out for 3 or 4 months)
Liverpool skipper insists he won't be changing his style of play despite frequent injuries in recent seasons

steven Gerrard underwent groin surgery in March

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has vowed to continue his box-to-box style of play despite suffering injuries.underwent surgery on a groin problem in March

The England international

31-year-old out for the remainder of the season.

midfielder nears latter stages of his career, does he need to change his style of play.

"Maybe one day but not now, " said Gerrard when asked about the possibility of having to alter his style of play as he gets older. "I'm not at that stage yet."

"I want to come back as the player I've always been and perform to the levels that I've reached before."

He added: "After the operation I feel in the best shape I've been in for two or three years. I'm stronger, I'm lighter and I've got a lot more confidence about my body generally. Changing isn't on the agenda."

And Gerrard admits he will need to work hard to re-establish his position in a team

"Everyone will need to prove themselves and I am no different, " he told LFC Weekly. "At Liverpool, you're always proving yourself it never stops because it's the Liverpool way. It's the manager's decision [who to pick].

"All I can do at the moment is get my rehab done and come back with my body right, hungry, rested up and ready to go."

Gerrard added: "The challenge is for the other players to keep me out of the team I'm all for the challenge."

+ but has gerrard had his day with liverpool, is it time to move him on to real madrid. The spainsh could get a couple of great seasons out of Gerrard. Champions league football. A stage worthy of a player of his ability. At the same time the player is injury prone, 31 years old. Has not been performing for the last 3 years.

Is it time to let him go

Ok guys,

I would probably say that 90% of people on here are really just guessing (or hoping) who we will sign.

I think everyone should just chill out and relax a bit and wait for the news to break as and when it happens. Although we didn't dip into our funds in January due to the Torres sale the owners still didn't waste anytime in going out and finding 2 quality strikers to replace one unhappy one (ok albeit Carroll was at the last minute due to Torres handing in his request so late in the day)

I honestly think they have plenty of money to back us but that doesn't mean we'll be going for every top player that is available lets just wait.

Although I agree that European football is a nice carrot to dangle in front of a player what did Man City have to offer David Silva, Carlos Tevez, Joe Hart, Gareth Barry, James Milner, Yaya Toure when they signed them other than money and the promise that they were moving onto bigger and better things!??

Answer - well nothing really and they have nowhere near the appeal that our beloved Reds have. I think we have the right people getting the right players for now and for the future so sit tight and just wait and see what unfolds..The future's bright, the future's RED. YNWA!!

Oh and Eds cracking work, keep it up, I don't know how you manage to stay sane by answering the repeated question time and time again..why don't some of these readers just scroll down and read earlier posts and answers!?

GouldyTrueRed {Ed001's Note - we have often asked ourselves the same thing, people only look at their own posts a lot of the time, laziness I guess.}

25 May 2011 18:22:19
I wonder who this Charlie Adam's' that we are linked with? Who does he play for? Have not seen him play, he any good?

Eds - surely Adam is below liverpool, a good player sure, but there must be better options for CM (sissoko) considering we have Lucas, Gerrard, Meireles, Spearing, with Shelvey coming through. Seems CM is not an area that is as important as LB/ MRL/ CB?

It is funny reading the sensationalist posts here though, arguero won't come to Liverpool, neither will Neymar. Neymar has interviewed saying he is happy to be linked with chelsea.

Its important to remember that although Liverpool are a classical 'big' club they are not a current 'big' club rather a clun in transition, like Juve. The really big names will want to go to championship winning teams (manu, real, chelsea etc). Liverpool may be there soon, but not this season.

I can see the same style as man city. For example Silva level signings; not hyped and massive but very good. So Mata is that style of player.

25 May 2011 18:22:16
Not posted on here for a while, but been reading some of the opinions being thrown around and although sone are credible others are shockingly way off the mark!
I am sure we will end up signing the likes of Adam, friedle and Enrique but as we are Liverpool football club, make no mistakes we will also be setting our sights a lot higher! Were are not just trying to add depth but increase the quality of the first team! The following players are certainly not out of the question but may take some shrewd negotiating and a bit of faith on their part!
Mata, young, payet, sissoko, lavezzi, sahko, gervinho, and dare I aguero.
Any decent football player out there knows were are 1 season away from CL football and perseverance will have them playing in the best competition for the greatest team on the planet! YNWA

Xabi Alonso: I felt unwanted by Rafael Ben tez at Liverpool. Reds manager Rafael Ben tez told him he may be sold to fund new singings

Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso has lifted the lid on the circumstances surrounding his departure from Liverpool in 2009.

The 29-year-old completed his £30m move to Madrid two seasons ago an exit which coincided with a drastic decline in Liverpool's fortunes after the Reds failed to secure Champions League qualification the following season.

The Spain midfielder claims former Reds boss Rafael Ben tez had warned him that he may be sold to fund new signings a year before his eventual exit.

"At the end of that season, speaking to Rafa, he told me the situation and that he wanted to sign other players and I could be one of the replacements, " Alonso told Liverpool's website.

"If an offer would have come, probably I would have been sold. That's when I told myself that the situation had changed from being a very important player to being one of those who can be sold to get funds to sign other players."

Alonso added: "I accepted it because I am a professional but you have to realise what your situation is. At the end nothing happened because there was no agreement and we started my last season in Liverpool, but knowing what had happened."

"I had to take it from their point of view. We knew what had happened and once we knew I was going to stay, if the manager was going to pick me then I was going to play as well as possible. There were no personal problems, it was a professional relationship."

Liverpool challenged for the Premier League title in 2008-09 but ended up four points adrift of eventual champions Manchester United.

rafael benitez
Anfield exit: Ben tez followed Alonso away from Merseyside a year later

"I didn't feel I had a point to prove, " Alonso continued. "I knew what I was capable of giving to the team and what I had given for the four years and then the last one.

"In the last one the team was really good, we were winning so many games, beating the top teams home and away and that made a big difference.

"Because of the silly draws we got at home at the beginning of the season, that's probably why we didn't win the Premier League. We felt we had a very good team, we were very competitive and it was a disappointment not to win the league."

At the end of the season Alonso told Ben tez he wanted to leave Anfield if a "good offer" was made.

"I didn't know what would happen but at the end of the season, knowing what had happened, I felt if another option was to come I needed to take another step in my career, " he said.

"It was very difficult to take that decision, but it was probably for the best for me because I was not comfortable with that situation and if I had stayed another season it would have been uncomfortable for me.

"I was really happy with the team and my team-mates and felt that we could do great things. I was happy on that side but within a club you have to see the big picture and another season would have been too much for me.

"As soon as the season finished I talked to the manager. I knew that maybe Madrid were coming and I said if the terms were good then I wanted to leave."

25 May 2011 18:20:51
Like whats already been said, apart from agents drumming up their clients' valuations and signing on fees, our signings will be done quietly, but hopefully quicker than previous seasons! It'll be hard between the big spenders and champs league teams to get the best players.Whoever comes in, hopefully first class signings, but again whoever they are, if they gel to the way that kenny wants the team to play, then thats all we want. would you sign carrick and fletcher, yet again they play centre mid(when fit) for the league champs. Its how we play as a team at the end

Ed should we be concerned that some of our top targets want to go elsewhere? Young, benzema, Cahill etc.. We are now being linked with dann Owen, Hargreaves, nzogbia, Jarvis, I think all the positions we need can still be filled with quality but we are notoriously slow in the Market. I am hoping a few big deals are in the pipeline that we don't know about but if not sakho, Enrique, Johnson, mata should all be bid for or I fear the worst. Your thoughts pls. {Ed001's Note - nothing to worry about, we will sign the right players even if they aren't the ones the fans are calling for.}

Liverpool have been given special dispensation to have a squad size of 234 and to play each game with with 26 players next season.

It seems that people have finally realised that this is the only way we could possible please all the players we are being linked with.

We had at least another £20m in the January window (alleged bid for M.Richards of Man City).

Player sales and resulting money saved in wages should realise £25-30m.

Plus any additional funds released by owners from sponsorship and their own funds. After all they got good deal when they bought the club.

The King has previous for signing good players who have not quite made it in the big time yet e.g. Barnes/ Beardsley & Shearer/ Sutton and surrounding them with decent players who can play McMahon/ Houghton & Sherwood/ Ripley.

So far we have spent next to no money and have a great forward line I see us signing a couple of soon to be be big names of a similar ilk to Mata and a couple of decent performers such as Dann or Jarvis.

Bring it on!

Why is everyone so confident that we will sign Charlie Adam ? Also is Payet good enough ? Cheers mate.

Because a lot of reporters on the know say Adam is bang on.

I like Payet I hope we get him and Mata these are our two main wing targets FACT. I think Comolli is using Ashley Young is a smoke screen. . .plus I don't like him he thinks he is better than he thinks. . .Manc Utd is welcome to him. . .

Hey Eds,
I believe Young is to decide between Scum, Spuds and ourselves? I for one like the guy as a player but wouldnt be too pissed off if he didnt sign.The quoted fee of £14mill is a bit too much for a guy with 1 year left on his contract I believe.It doesnt make sense.If he does come I will back it but my feeling is that he will go to Scum to play with R**n G***s ( am I actually allowed say his name?).Is Cahill pricing himself out of a move in favour for s**tty?For me Scott Dann would be good business for CB.I have spoken to a mate/ work collegue of mine who is very good mates with some French guys(Marseille fans) and they said that if Marveux is minded he is an incredible signing and could save us 10mill in the transfer window.I think he will be our 1st signing.Any info on James McCarthy? I think himself and Adam would be coming and good business too.

Fowler is God {Ed001's Note - it must be remembered Young is from down south, Spurs would be a move home for him really, that is why I think he might favour that move. I have little info on McCarthy, we have maintained the interest we had while he was playing in Scotland, but I have not heard of us doing anything other than watching him.}

Question:

would the fans rather see 1 quality player come into the club or have 10 west-ham level players come in?

---------------Reina--------------
Johnson---Carra--Skrtel---Enrique
-------Gerrard------Meireles-----
Kuyt-----------------------Hazard
---------Carroll----Suarez---------

Subs: Friedel, Kelly, Robinson, Shelvey, Maxi, Pacheco and Shane Long

Wouldnt mind this team would only probably cost about 50m and with the players we are selling it would be easy.

Fabio Coentrao is overrated why don't we bid for alvaro pereira of Porto the guy is rapid and good at going forward probably able for purchase at around 6-10 million and Suarez and meireles could sweeten him up about how great the epl Is and how there is big opportunities for him at lfc

but to put some fact in it.. former brasilian super hero pele and robinho warns neymar for a move to chelsea.

I would say its a 0, 5/ 10 chance couse you never know whats happening.

and would rather like too see aguero. thinks its up to 2/ 10 chance now that he want to leave athletic
read a week ago that liverpool did break the chase after him becuse of the wage demands on 100.000 week. wich doesent really make sense..
and if hees a liverpool fan or not, sure he has whised to go to liverpool all the way back to 2005 or something. but thats along time ago.

But KK promis superstars, so you never know :) and Noone knows :)

nice site btw

reports of liverpool agreeing 25 mill deal for coentrao is there any truth it?

Chunky

{Ed006's Note - I have read them and don't believe them. I think he will be at Real Madrid next season. If we are looking for a LB I don't see why we don't just bring Insua back and have Robinson as cover.}

we are trying to move forward not backwARDS ED -insua nowhere near good enough -

"Neymar is dubbed the next Pele" - have you ever seen Pele, he won the world cup when he was just 17, and lets be honest it was all down to him. Scored 1000 goals too which isn't bad.
NO-ONE will ever be as good as him and people who say Messi is better need to take a reality check, Messi doesn't make the top 10 player list of all time (no doubt he's class but they're are a few better, Maradona, Zidane just to name 2. Sorry it's just some people really need to think before they post carp like that.

Hi eds, I'm new to the site. Looks like you are ruling out almost every good, average signing for liverpool or saying do not have a good chance. Is it just because if you guarantee any signing without official news it would dent your reputation and make you look stupid or is it that we are just not good enough for any good signing due to lack of CL football and other things.{coz i don't think so} PLS reply. {Ed001's Note - we don't rely on official news, we are just being realistic.}

25 May 2011 16:43:10
Liverpool would pay no more than £15m for Ashley Young. He only have a year left on his contract.
Unless a bidding war between both Manachester clubs and Liverpool. Ashley Young would go for £18m max

25 May 2011 16:39:44
k ill start with the kenny wants to bring defoe but i think comolli is trying to convince over soldado from valencia along wiht mata. Friedel is a move that puzzles me bcus if we need GK cover i wud prefer HG talent (unless he is, ED?). I think scott parker will be a better addition than charlie adam, he wud fit better at spurs. Parker could help mould spearing into an even better player and wud add more quality competition for CM role, unfortunately i understand arsenal are sniffing around because they plan to sell song. we have 20m to sign parker and defoe/ or another striker (defoe is most likely unfortunately). We will also buy izzaguire because the manks are after Enrique now. Izzaguire only costs us 4-6m so we have plenty left for gary cahill. Free signings are friedel and marveux. Thats 40m spend so far and two big hole to fill...Wingers. We have 10m left from FSG provided funds. Then the rest of the money is raised from player sales and i inderstand there will be a mass overhaul with alot of cash generated (at least 40m). Two wingers...but who? Alot of names will crop up for that left spot but our right winger spot is ashley young who kenny really believes he can convince to join.

So lets recap. 8 signings for the squad. Plenty players to leave to raise cash.

Friedel-Free
Marveux-Free
Izzaguire-6m
G.Cahill-14m
Parker-8m
Striker?Defoe-12m/ 8m for defoe
Young-16m
Winger?Marin?Mata?Elia?-Up to 25m

Me14

This is what i have been told squad looks alot better now does it not? {Ed001's Note - I don't believe he counts as home grown, he never actually moved to English football until he joined us in 97? He would have been 26 then.}

25 May 2011 16:35:41
Ed(s) do you think we will sign or even favourites to sign Juan Mata ? Cheers ! {Ed001's Note - no, I know we have spoken to them about him, I am pretty sure those talks are ongoing but that is all I know. I refuse to get my hopes up that we are going to sign him though!}

SO WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T - I REPEAT - DON'T GET YOUR HOPES UP !!! only joking with you Ed but I do think we are more than a 3 to sign him ! More like a five or a six as we are in talks with them !
cheers mate. ! {Ed001's Note - I will keep talking it down and hope that works.}

If we pay that kind of price for him, he will be the first choice for left wing. after all he spent most of his career playing in that position. but i still agree that he is more likely to join Madrid than us

25 May 2011 16:01:08
some people need to get a grip. we are not going to be playing 433!!! why would we? we are looking at wingers. there will be no aguero, benzema, hulk, neymar or falcao. The players we are looking at are..

left back-
enrique
angel

central midfield-
adam
sissoko

wings-
mata
young
payet
marveaux

maybe a couple of young or free transfers aswell

25 May 2011 15:50:42
in all honesty we do not need a left back we have Insua who we should keep instead of selling and Robinson as left backs, they can both improve highly
the positions we need are a centre back or two, 2-3 wingers and a back up striker.
in my mind these players will be:-
Phil Jones
Scott Dann
Marveaux
Marin
Elia
Shane Long
these all add depth to the squad and are young quality players that could also improve. we have great youngsters in the squad aswell as aqualani who had a bad spell last season but king kenny could change that !

25 May 2011 15:40:27
---------------Reina--------------
Johnson---Dann---Agger---Enrique
---------------Adam--------------
Gerrard--------------------Meireles
Suarez---------------------Vargas
---------------Carroll-------------

Nothing fancy, but I think that this is a very well-balanced team.

25 May 2011 15:39:33
Ed, what do you think of Royston Drenthe?
He can play lb and lw and i think Madrid will sell him for about 10m euros.
Also i live in Holland, last week Kuyt and Elia where on a dutch program and Elia said he would join us if we wanted him.

NickyLFC {Ed001's Note - Drenthe has had attitude problems, which is why a Madrid lacking left sided players could never find a place for him in the side. He has not stood out for Hercules on loan particularly, he makes Babel look consistent and skilful. We have had bids rejected for Elia.}

hey ed please post on rumors.any chance of us getting reto Ziegler seeing as sampdoria has been relegated

Would the likes of benzema and gervinho choose aresenal over liverpool.. I should hope not !!.. When they are struggling to keep hold of their big stars.. E.g cesc and nasri.. What you think ed ?.. Also would villa let both young and downing go.. If we get downing and utd go for young is that feasable for villa.. {Ed001's Note - Gervinho has already stated he wants Champions League football or he is staying put. Benzema just wants first team football guarantees, he is more likely to get those at Arsenal.}

Can someone please explain the friedel thing to me? Don't we have the best keeper in football claiming he's happy at Anfield? This is also inconsistent with FSG's approach; we're building a squad to be competitive for years to come, not a retirement home.

Good news for Kenny and all staff involved in transfers!, with all this trash being thrown around about Aguero and Coentrao, all the focus has been on silly sightings by taxi drivers and kids on anfield tours and the LFC staff can concentrate on their already identified targets in relative peace while everybody goes bonkers over this other carp

25 May 2011 14:33:31
Alot of the rumours on this website are surrounded by players that have reputations for playing stylish and attractive football.

Personally I would like to see some of these rumoured players at LFC next season, however LFC would have a better chance of signing good players that are in less demand.

Ins: Dann
Enrique
Downing
Marveaux
parker
Payet

With the possibility of one marquee signing.

25 May 2011 14:32:00
I happend to watch the Sky Sports 'love in' at the Gary Neville testimonial last night. The match was generally played at just above walking pace and I was expecting to see Alberto Aquilani to shine. But all I saw was a decidely average performance outshone by the ageing midfield of Butt, Scholes, Beckham and Giggs. Disappointing!

25 May 2011 14:02:51
just seen Newcastle will not offer Joey Barton a new contract. I hope this has nothing to do with the rumours of him being linked to us a week or so ago. Any thoughts ED.

irishred {Ed001's Note - he was linked with us because his agent was trying to get him a huge payrise, I doubt very much we would have any interest in him.}

25 May 2011 14:00:29
Right, I love this site but lately it seems as if the EDs and a lot of posters seem to think Liverpool will not be able to attract some of the bigger names that have been mentioned due to lack of european football. This makes sense but at the same time is imo not really a huge factor.

Anyone can see that with the revival over the past few months and the new management have completely changed things at liverpool. We are clearly heading in the right direction. The new owners are here to win things and I am sure they are willing to invest heavily to win. Reina obviously was very pleased with what he was told by DC and he has said numerous times in the past we need to invest.

The majority of big names that we have been linked with (Hazard, Mata, Lukaku etc.)are young and have got a long career ahead of them, they can wait 1 season for european football and they will surely be able to see a bright future for Liverpool. Suarez and Carroll were both huge signings and I am sure if they had held on until the summer they could have gone to a club with champions league football. Even some/ one of the EDs were certain Suarez wouldn't join us because he had better options.

Aguero I can't see happening but I think we will bring in a few quality players and be challenging for champions league football (atleast) next season.

Please post in rumours.

Fingers crossed!}

25 May 2011 13:40:49
From bits and pieces that I've heard/ read, I think these transfers are at least fairly likely:

In: Friedel, Dann, Enrique, Adam, Sissoko, Marveaux, Mata

Out: Jones, Kyriakos, Insua, Poulsen, Jovanovic, Aquilani, Cole, Ngog

This would leave the squad looking something like this:

GK: Reina, Friedel
RB: Johnson, Kelly, Flanagan
LB: Enrique, Aurelio, Robinson
CB: Carragher, Agger, Dann, Skrtel, Wilson
CM: Gerrard, Sissoko, Merieles, Lucas, Adam, Shelvey, Spearing
F: Carroll, Suarez, Mata, Kuyt, Maxi, Marveaux

The personnel are flexible but the first XI may look something like this:

4-3-3
GK: Reina
RB: Johnson
CB: Carragher
CB: Agger
LB: Enrique
CM: Sissoko
CM: Gerrard
CM: Adam
F: Carroll
F: Suarez
F: Mata

This looks like a pretty deep squad with much improved quality in key positions. The players fit with the NESV policy of promoting young talent.

25 May 2011 13:40:40
I blame Ed002 for us not signing Aguero, Coentrao and Sanchez. All wanted to come, but after reading this site and finding out their chances were 0 or 1 out of 10, they decided that they would go elsewhere. 100% factual fiction.

And the player of the season, Lucas, won't get a look in? Right. King Kenny thinks he's the best midfielder we've got and essential to the team, like Ronnie Whelan in the good old days, but he'll just bin him to make way for 4 forwards and two decidedly forward thinking midfielders? OK.

What is all this nonsense about Aguero and Fabio Coencetrao u must be delusional if you believe we are signing theses 2 players.
i bet u believe that we are signing the HULK as well ( not the talented Brazilian who plays for Porto but the big green angry monster that will sort out the defense, with Batman on the wing, Superman up front...) dream on

the biggest name i think we will sign this summer is Juan Mata £20-25M

Aguero- Real madrid
Coencetrao- Real madrid
Carlos Tevez- Real madrid
Benzema- Arsenal
Scott parker- Arsenal
Ashley Young- Man utd

Breaking news !! im on my ipod in anfield on a school tour im 15 and we went in the directors box and Sergio Kun Aguero was sitting at a table with Dalglish, Comolli and Steven Gerrard. I promise i'm tellin the truth i wasnt sure at first but it was !! WOOHOO

BTW, iPods don't have internet built in, they have wifi, I'm not sure you have the correct passwords to the Anfield wifi!

25 May 2011 13:19:22
****breaking news****

Alan Hansen to become Defensive coach until Carra retires and Dalglish to employ Jan Molby to hold down very important role as food finisher at the player canteen!!

25 May 2011 13:15:17
To the guy who said Aqua's agent is 50% sure he will stay in Italy. Did you even think about what you were writing?! Okay, so he may well stay in Italy but give it a little bit of thought, if someone is only 50% sure of something it means they absolutely don't know! I am 50% sure he will stay at Liverpool, which means I am also 50% sure he won't!

Why all the talk of Kun? It won't happen, not because we can't afford him, not because of his wages but because he isn't a priority. We have £35m Carroll as our main man, Kuyt won't be dropped because of his workrate, we have Gerrard to return and the fantastic Suarez. We also have some very good youth.

We need a winger and defence, big signings don't matter if they are the wrong signings. He is a great player but right now we need a great defender, a great fullback and a great winger, there isn't a bottomless pit and we will spend wisely.

Really think Liverpool can win the league if we sign the following players
Enrique
Samba
L.diarra
Nzogbia
Mata
Benzema
I think all these players are available to Liverpool and would be open to signing for us. What are your thoughts eds??

Growler {Ed001's Note - to be honest I would only be interested in Mata of those. The rest all come with so much baggage it would be a nightmare for the club to keep them happy.}

25 May 2011 13:12:46
hi eds...great job, just wanted to say about liverpools transfer rumours, we need to spend big on 2 or 3 players and a few others for nominal fee's to show intent to the likes of the mancs, city, arsenal, chelsea etc. .sergio aguero bein the first we should sign, if that mans available just go get him, mata, gary cahil, elia....and chalie adam and a left back, glen johnson to cover are right wing, thems my thawts {Ed001's Note - why do we need Aguero? It is wingers we need and he isn't one.}

25 May 2011 13:11:48
Hi Eds : After reading different stories over the last few days/ weeks who we are meant to be signing and so on (You know the players I mean... SA, especially) you really have my sympathy. Just reading today's rumors I think some people are just deluded... sure we would like all these world class stars but c'mon everyone lets be real.
PS : Eds your doing a cracking job don't rise to it...

{Ed002's Note - Alonso was simply answering questions put to him, no more. There may be a time that he could return of course. There is little doubt that he enjoyed the city and loves the club. He has explained why he left and that is history - together with the other party involved.}

Ed02 - forgive me if i'm wrong but after reading the above i gather you have a hatred of monkeys. now far be it from me to read tooooooo much into what you have said I suppose next you'll be telling us all that Kun won't be comming to Liverpool or that Aqua will be staying in Italy & you even you have the b###s to say 0/ 10 for the arrivals of sanchez, neymar & any other half decent players that we have seen on the telly the night before. I think you should resign with imediate affect, maybe start talking to plants, @ least you won't have to tell them the same thing more than ONCE.
Siily season has started, take a deep breath

Luigi Riva

----------------------------------

Well the observations below will be correct. And I second most of the stuff Ed has said.

Aguero - Will not come plus we don't need him with Suarez in the team. They occupy the same space.Honda will be a better buy instead.

Neymar - What has he proved? He wil be very expensive and Brazilian players are of two types. Lucas/ Dunga/ Kaka or Ronaldo/ Ronaldinho/ Adriano. I am certain he falls to the second category. Plus transfer fees and wages will be high. All in all I don't think it will be good for Liverpool.

Sanchez - Ed again is RIGHT. Transfer fees plus transfer fees are way too high. He is talented and would be wanted but the deal will not materialise.

Aquilani - Does he have to shout from the top of a skyline to say that he doesnt want to be back? He didnt settle in Merseyside. THE END.

In the case of Suarez let me remind you that HE WANTED TO COME TO LIVERPOOL. Can you say the same about the people above?

So ED is right most of the times and will be in future too.

Why should the Ed resign?...He is doing a fantastic job.....The more you blog the better he is at his JOB.

LiverBird {Ed001's Note - I think the previous poster had his/her tongue firmly in their cheek mate.}

Ed was wrong!!!! Not sure which ed said it but one ed reckoned we'd be talking neymar or sanchez!! Seems it contrau! {Ed001's Note - I don't believe any of us editors have suggested Neymar or Sanchez was likely, in fact none of us believe we have ever had any chance of either.}

How can Whiskey nose can confirm the signing of De Gea when the international windows has not opened yet?.

So now Chelsea are being banded as the club that's getting Aguero. I dunno!, if it's a good player, our rivals are buying him. If the player is mediocre at best, he's going to Liverpool. Such bias by the press it's untrue!.

Also Ed, would it be possible to put a close function on those youtube ad's at the top of the screen. They are so annoying blearing out at you. There's nothing worse than "Rape advertising" which is what that is.

Many thanks

The Crow {Ed001's Note - I am sorry about the ads, they are Google Adsense, if you copy the URL and send it to me using the contact form I can block specific adverts.}

Hi Ed's & fellow reds fam.
I have to say fair play Ed's great site, you doing a great job on the best and most addictive rumours page going and you are all in line to be saints with the patience you have. Can't believe the grief you all get for your informed opinions, if it where me, my delete key would be so worn out by now and there would be a lot less to read on the site lol.
Rumours opinions and "sources" I have combined I think these are more than possible, realistic and I would love to see these additions.
Dann
Coentro (spelling and least likely)
Elia
Turan
Defoe

I think would all be possible and all be able to make great contributions to the squad. Of course all the usual dead wood going out. Keeping maxi, agger & skrtel. Any opinions welcom especially yours Ed won't slate ya!! Lol

Dazelhof the RED {Ed001's Note - I think Sissoko, Mata and Angel are possibilities too, all 3 have defo been the subject of interest and I have been told contact from the club.}

I agree the fella up top, every time I see comments from ED002, they are always negative of LFC talk, and sometimes think you love it to bring a fan down when wrong, have seen aragance from ED002 at times. Althou don't like 002's thoughts respect for time that you put into site! BUT I DON'T LIKE YOU, 10-10 for time tho, let's see if this is posted. Not many of my posts are posted. Since I starte complaining over have a wish list room, the site got one but from then on my posts never get on! Is there a block on my ip address??? 4 being honest
And can I say I also think you carnt/ won't believe LFC can attract big players, I think you will turn even mire bitter ( like a everton blue, rather than chelskionce you see players coming to our most famous club, in next for weeks on year after year now we have good decent clever, wise owners, rather than your club Chelsea 4 money!!!
----------------------------------------------

I'm gonna get slated here now by my own fans but Ed002 is realistic. People need to stop living in the past. Yes we were once the biggest draw for any player but not anymore.
Now that scum have over taken us on titles people are saying "come back when you've one 5 European titles". What happens if they do? What will you say next?
We need to trust KK. This is the man to take us forward so we can attract the big names, if we want them, because hopefully by then we will be winning trophies consistently again. Some people need to wake up and get real.

MUSHROOM the brave?????????

Everyone is asking the EDs "What do you tink about this and that..?" But if some people read something they don't like, and opinion / a view, thay attack them without mercy. Why bother asking if you made up your minds? They were put here only to moderate in the first place, but they are kind enough to answer questions. Cheer up EDs and don't take sh*t from anyone. You're doing a great job and keep on doing it. And many thanks to Ed001 for keeping this great site!

-=Solar=- {Ed001's Note - cheers mate! I actually missed doing it over the weekend, most of the time it is a lot of fun reading the posts.}

Hi Ed,
a couple of sources are reporting that Juan Mata is in talks over a proposed move to Liverpool. Apparently a fee of £20M has been agreed. Can you confirm this is accurate or is it just speculation? Cheers. Nigel

{Ed002's Note - I cannot confirm it, but have postualted that if there is an unexpected signing then it could well be Mata. I would not be surprised if talks have taken place.}

Yeah the Wiki fairies are at it again too, this is what the site say's:

'Mata said it would be a "Dream" to wear the famous Red of Liverpool and he is currently in talks over a move in the summer. A deal worth £20M will be announced July 1st.'

Who do you reckon he said it to?

25 May 2011 12:49:27
hi i'm just wondering what CB's we're looking at I really think this is a position we lack any sort of strength in and can't see us progressing til were strong at the back, clubs like chelsea wit terry +carvalio/ luiz, united rio+vidic, arsenal adams+keown, barca puyol+pique, are all clubs that have been very succesful in the last 15years and it's because there big and strong at the back, there's no doubting carra's commitment and talent as a CB but its well known that when a big strong and quick CF comes along he/ we struggle, Henry did it for years! I understand cahill is going to london and were looking at Dann, but is he really the solution? I think an experienced composed head at the back is key, so just want to know are we looking at any experienced CB i.e Hangelaand or Huth.
thanks, John.

i agree with this john the days of Hyypia and Henchoz proves this. we need 1 maybe 2 centre backs that will have a good 4-5 years together.

any thoughts ed002???????? or insights

25 May 2011 12:48:29
Ed, last night I posted at length some of the information I have been privy to about Martin broughton and his role in the sale of Torres, but it wasn't posted.

I'm just wondering if this site is no longer the bastion of hope when it comes to posts with information about our club that it once was?..is this because of the fear of the recent amount of super injunctions?

Or is it because that mine wasn't aimed at the masses who want to read of Ronaldo or any other superstar signing apparently on the way into the club?

Anyway I find it a shame that people were denied the chance to read what I know about the false "messiah" that was broughton, and also the poor standards of owners we currently have so henceforth I shall not be sharing my info again.

Primetime {Ed001's Note - I really don't care to have libellous accusations posted on the site, end of. Especially ones with little basis in fact.}

25 May 2011 12:47:13
come on up the road and support a team that can attract good players not mediocre ones like you scousers will sign stoke city are more of an attractive proposition at the moment
lfc to sign long, carr and gardener then off to the championship where you belong

25 May 2011 12:46:57
I too am sick and tired of the Aguero rumours. No way is he coming and he is not the type of player we need. Two wingers. A left back and centre back will do. I just hope we don't buy too many players in the £6.8m bracket like rafa did. I would rather have less players and pure quality. Let the kids fill the squad up. First 15-16 players is what matters

25 May 2011 12:46:13
Probably totally wrong but at least they are realistic in terms of player profile and budget. Personally I'd love to see jagielka, dempsey and brunt in that list, but they haven't been mentioned frequently enough in the media or on here to be probable targets. Also does anyone fancy a cheeky contact offer to RVN, 34 but, ohheeee, impact players don't come better than that

You have to remember we do things quietly these days. so i tend to think if the media are not talking about certain players linked to liverpool then we may actually be trying to do deals. I would love the likes of Aguero in our squad but for me i think no chance, this site is great and the Eds do a Difficult job keeping us all upto date with latest rumours just remember peoples they are RUMOURS.

P.S ED02 you crack me up keep up the good work mate..

Tomsy

Rumours of Coentrao are spreading like wildfire.
I used to think most of the people on this site actually had an eye for a brilliant player but it appears not to be the case.
Firstly, Coentrao will NOT be used as a primary left back if he does make the journey here, he will be used as a LWB or LW.
Secondly, hes a little player but quick, strong, and makes decisions with his brain..Physicality might be something defenders need but when best to go for a tackle?, intercept?, these rely more on decision making..
Coentrao was one of the stand-out performers in the world cup for Portugal outshining C.Ronaldo this time round. His crosses are pin-point, scores a couple of goals in the process and has the ability to work as a TEAM. I recall seeing him playing BRILLIANTLY against a Brazil side that threatened with Maicon and can't remember who else down Portugal's left side, he got to almost every ball..I even remember his little tussle with Torres everytime he tried getting past him.
These are all attributes Kenny admires in the players he signs.
Saying that, I have my own doubts on the source of this rumour, £25 Million is a tad overpriced but thats what it might take us because we can't offer anything more than Premier League and the domestic cups. However, if he is wearing red next season, I will be extremely pleased with the move..

RedSox69..i would appreciate a response from the ed about Coentrao.. {Ed001's Note - I know we were looking at him, I know we spoke to his club, but I have not heard anything more regarding him. However I spoke to Ed002 and he believes Real Madrid have agreed to match his full asking price. So my belief is that I heard nothing because we enquired and were told the size of the bid we had to match and walked away. I do agree he would have been a good signing for the left wing and to cover left back in need.}

25 May 2011 12:45:01
Maybe I am hoping too much and reading too much into this, but Alonso has done a long interview with LFC TV explaining why he left the club. Could this possibly be paving the way for his return? I know it is the anniversary of Istanbul , but could the timing of the interview be more significant???

25 May 2011 12:43:50
My house mate is a Leeds Utd season ticket holder and he told me a few weeks back just after the Real Vs Spurs tie that he had heard via a few people who sit near him in the ground that Lennon did not want to live in London anymore and had a strained relationship with Redknapp they claimed to know the lad's family & said liverpool would be his most likely destination.

I do not think my mate would tell me a lie but that is also not to say I am stupid enough to believe that people who sit near would be telling the truth as i have no idea who they are.

Just wondered if anyone had heard anything that would support this?

25 May 2011 12:38:42
Sure nothing is true according to you !! Maybe just maybe, it's possible for the likes of Aguero, Mata, Coentrao or such top players to arrive at Liverpool - you just don't Liverpool are good enough to get any do yea?? When you're proved wrong you will be sorry

{Ed002's Note - And so it starts, the anonymous keyboard warrior spitting hatred at me because of bad reporting by some random web site that suggested Coentrao was moving to Liverpool. You see, hiding behind your anonymity you won't need to come out and apologise when it turns out this Coentrao story is incorrect. And perhaps you should go and look up what I said about Mata.}

The majority of the time I have been based in Cap D'Ail - which is where I am as I type this. Shortly to head to Nice airport to catch the 3:30 flight back to London.}

sorry ed your ip adress puts you in fazakerley, lol

25 May 2011 12:33:22
Not having a go at the Ed's and totally respect the work they do, but you do seem to be very negative on a lot of transfers... Fair dos we will NOT sign contraou, Aguero is a no no as well as far as im concerned but when it comes to hazard and other players you write off i don't understand it? I recall you writing off suarez in january and were adamant there was a small chance that deal would go through and questioned if he was right for the club...... Think you are a very negative Red that is all

{Ed002's Note - Sure, I was surprised about Suarez. I think someone is keeping a count on those I get right and those I get wrong.}

25 May 2011 12:32:15
Both Man City & Man Utd are going to joint buy Sergio Kun Aguero, where by he will only play home matches for each team, this way his partner will be assured that he never plays away ;)

25 May 2011 12:30:30
{Ed002's Note - Alonso was simply answering questions put to him, no more. There may be a time that he could return of course. There is little doubt that he enjoyed the city and loves the club. He has explained why he left and that is history - together with the other party involved.}

Just saw Sergio Kun Aguero coming out of liverpool airport im a taxi driver :)

Have we already started with this ? We are still in May at least wait to June :)

Aguero was in Argentina last night and don't think you can get a flight from Argentina to Liverpool. Perhaps you should concentrate more on your fares than thinking what mad thing to make up nest

25 May 2011 12:10:37
hi ed with everyone harping on about AGUERO, personally what is the fasination ok he is a good player but we have the same type of player in SUAREZ, if it were my choice i would spend the 45-50m on 2 quality wingers i.e MATA, MARIN, JOHNSON, GERVINHO, to me these would be much more affective than just 1 player

summer ins

CB-SAKHO-17M(60k)
LB-CISSOKHO-14M(60k)
MC-SISSOKO-12M(45k)
RLW/ STR-MATA-22M(85k)
RLW/ STR-GERVINHO-12M(60K)
RLW-A.JOHNSON-19M(75K)

TOTAL 96M i no its much but would it be worth it? i see this team of players as a perfect investment for the future as any player on there has a good couple of seasons with us then they decide to leave us we would recoup a lot of money plus we could sign atleast 3 of these players with the reported fee for AGUERO and pay there wages easily

STARTING 11

.................................REINA..............................

JOHNSON...........KELLY............SAKHO.....CISSOKHO

.......................GERRARD.........LUCAS...................

JOHNSON.....................SUAREZ..................MATA

..................................CARROLL.........................

SUBS- CARRA, AGGER, SISSOKO, MEIRELES, GERVINHO, KUYT, AND YOUNGER PLAYERS GIVEN A CHANCE

now this a team who would really fight the spam for the epl title wat do you think to the signings ed? not the team. plse post ed

Quit hating on the Ed for giving his opinion! He is being realistic! I love LFC and I would love Aguero and Coentrao but I am not stupid enough to think we can sign anybody we want. The Eds are kind enough to offer input and share information, and yet you still attack them.

(1)

(2)
Yeah second that. Those who are having a go at the eds need to cut it out. They're doing a service to the fans that are interested in the realistic transfer opportunities that our club have so have some respect or don't bother. Maybe the eds could stop responding to these idiots aswell.

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure I understand the point. Coentrao is a wing back who Real Madrid have agreed to buy. It seems pretty simple to me.}
--------

so do you think there is any chance we can buy Marcelo now that your saying he will not going to be needed if they sign coentrao.

{Ed002's Note - I did not say marcelo is not needed. I have no idea if Liverpool could sign him - what happened to Enrique then?}

Oh really?! I suppose gerrard was there to translate for kun, him being fluent in spanish and all...

25 May 2011 11:36:40
Ed, coming from a Real Madrid point of view, why on earth would they try to buy Fabio Contreau for £25M when they already have a Left Back; Marcelo who has been absolutely outstanding this season?
Olly J R

{Ed002's Note - Regardless of other players at the club (e.g. how many left backs are on the books of Liverpool?) negotiations have been taking place for three weeks between Benfica and Real Madrid.}

25 May 2011 11:32:32
It could be plausible that we have made a bid for Coentrao, I think Comolli wants to make a 'Marquee' signing which will please the fans.

At first I think he wanted this to be Aguero as we were interested, but now it looks like Aguero's going to Real Madrid.

So now his second priority 'Marquee' signing could be Coentrao, but there is no evidence that we have made a definite bid yet, just what I reckon.

hi ed
i don't think we will finish in the top 4 next season.
every player we are interested in either spurs man utd real madrid arsenal,
sem to be after the same players
so we have no chance of getting anyone anygood.
ive lost the belief.
please give me a litle hope.

According to reports in Correio da Manha, Liverpool have agreed a fee of £25m for Benfica left back Fabio Coentrao.

Source football talk - probs not true but would be nice if it was !!

{Ed002's Note - I suspect they are relaying the "football talk" story where someone has badly translated a story from "Correio da Manha" and arrived at "Benfica having agreed a deal with Liverpool" rather than "Benfica having agreed a deal with Real Madrid". By my reckoning Coentrao remains a 0/ 10. I am sure there will be plenty of active discussion about this later today.}

---------------------------------------------------

This is the worst possible news ever. Coentrao will be a real madrid player. What ever the news about him joining liverpool is BS. He is almost a RM player like it or not.

25 May 2011 11:16:10
Ed, in your opinion, who do you know/ think we are realistically looking at and who will come from that list?
Joe the Red

{Ed002's Note - You simply need to read through these pages regularly. Everyone has their view and everyone, including the Eds, have their opinions. I can't enter in to guess work as to who will actually make the move. For example, there is interest in Dmitri payet but the player may himself prefer a move to PSG.}

25 May 2011 11:06:08
£25m for Coentrao !!! please go madrid in that case. we could use that money for someone better. we don't need him

Liverpool are in preliminary talks with Diego's Agent.
Red Tiger.

25 May 2011 11:00:08
In January weren't we interested in M.Richards and didn't we put a bid of £20 million in for him.
Can you see us following it up? I think that his better than some of the centre backs that we are believe to have an interest in and he can play at right back if cover was ever needed

I believe that we are need two wingers and i believe that they should be A.Young and A.Johnson. A creative midfielder to replace the void that has been left by Xabi Alonso. I don't know who would be best on this so i was wondering what people thought. i don't think Charlie Adam is the right player or even good enough for the Liverpool first team he had half a good season and he can't defend to save his life.

And finally i found out that According to reports in Correio da Manha, Liverpool have agreed a fee of £25m for Benfica left back Fabio Coentrao.

Kenny is set to move for the 23-year old full back who has been linked with a string of high profile clubs across Europe, including Premiership rivals Chelsea and Man City.

Liverpool has made a left back their top priority in the summer and have been linked with Everton's Leighton Baines, Arsenal's Gael Clichy and Newcastle's Jose Enrique

It doesnt translate to Liverpool. It says he will be joining Real a deal has been agreed for £25m could rise to £30 the deal was agreed before Benficas draw with Sporting Lisbon

Can't understand the move for Brad Friedel. Goes against the supposed buying young players policy that seems to be coming out of Anfield. He is a very good goalkeeper, who has been 1st choice at all the clubs he's been at since leaving Liverpool, so I can't see him moving to us to play 2nd fiddle to Pepe. For a 2nd choice keeper, I would go for Keiran Westwood, he is also out of contract this summer, and from all accounts a good young goalkeeper. I think he qualifies as a home-grown player also, which is an added bonus. {Ed002's Note - He is certainly not home grown.}

{Ed002's Note - Anelka has a year to go on his contract and will be sold this summer. Certainly the MLS is something he has been looking at. Chelsea have an aging squad that has been together quite a long time. The opportunity is being taken to do some rebuilding this summer. I would not say that this is being done with Torres alone in mind. I am sorry but do not understand the "rags" comment.}

'rags' looks like a 'rafa' typo.

{Ed002's Note - It seems it was. And it seems most unlikely.}

I sincerely do hope we quickly get on with our transfers and drag them out like last transfer window to the last minute, it is vital players do get the time they need to gel and get some decent training time. Have they not had over 3 months to sort out who they want to negotiate with and comolli has nothing else to do anyway. August is not too far off look at manu already have got their keeper, wakey wakey mr.comolli!

I've been a liverpool fan for 2 decades now and I don't like the way many viewers in this site consider juventus a sh*te club and say why would cetrain players want to go to juventus(is it because they handled the aquilani situation badly or because of the heysel disaster???) because as far as i know they are a massive club.

people's say players will come to liverpool because of our history....let me tell you something juventus are historically the most successful team in Italian football and one of the most successful and recognised in the world. According to the International Federation of Football History and Statistics, an organization recognised by FIFA, Juventus were Italy's best club of the 20th century and the second most successful European club in the same period.The club currently ranks third in Europe and sixth in the world with the most international titles won officially recognised by their respective association football confederation and FIFA.In 1985, Juventus became the first club in the history of European football to have won all three major UEFA competitions: the European Champion Clubs' Cup, the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and the UEFA Cup (the first Italian and Southern European side to win the competition).After their triumph in the Intercontinental Cup the same year, Juventus also became the first football team ever and remain the only one at present to have won all possible confederation competitions and the club world title.

They also had some pretty bad season's since 2006 just like us. That doesn't mean they have no chance of signing aguero or whoever they are linked with. And if they don't want to pay for aquaman then its their loss because that lads been fantastic for them & its not like we've never screwed with other clubs in transfer market does that mean we are a s**te club???? If our club can attract players because of history so can they.....

And for the t**ts who still think juventus are a sh*te club go watch baseball

Reports on LFC.com, we have had a fee of 25m agreed for Concetrao of Benfica! what a signing he would be. Would be a great start. {Ed002's Note - Not a hope.}

Expect Kenny to keep true to his word. We'll only sign "quality" players and the youngsters will be given chances. I expect our team next season to go along the lines of:
GK - Reina / Friedel (FREE)
LB - Johnson / Insua
RB - Kelly / Flanagan
CD - Agger / Dann (£6-8m)
CD - Carragher / Skrtel
CM - Meireles / Sissoko (£10-12m)
CM - Lucas / Spearing
CM - Gerrard / Shelvey
LW - Suarez / Marveaux (FREE)
ST - Carroll / Kuyt
RW - Sturridge (£7-10m) / Maxi

Don't get me wrong this can change; Payet could sign, as could Enrique/ Warnock, Adam too and possibly Demba Ba which would change the face of the team. Should a LB be signed (we are trailing a number of them but I don't think we need one) then Flanagan's chances will be limited with GJ going back to RB, or a possibility that he will be sold for around £15m. Maxi could leave should a different winger be signed ie Payet or Young and Kuyt's chances would be limited should Ba join (quite unlikely tbh).

OUT
Brad Jones - 500k
Sotiris Kyrgiakos - £2m
Fabio Aurelio -£2m (may sign a pay-as-you-play deal)
Joe Cole - £6m
Christian Poulsen - £3m
Milan Jovanovic - £5m
Paul Konchesky - £1-2m
Nabil El Zhar - £1m
Alberto Aquilani? - £15m
Maxi Rodriguez? - £6-8m
Glen Johnson? - £15m

INS (possible)
Charlie Adam - £6m
Stephen Warnock - £4m/ Jose Enrique - £6m
Dmitri Payet - £8m
Ashley Young - £20m
Kun Aguero (don't be so shocked) - £40m

Naturally Aguero will only sign if he takes a big wage dive, we're not paying silly amounts for players.

More a hope than a rumour but Garay is set to leave Madrid in the summer, would be a great signing

If you want to a clue on how FSG, DC and Kenny will likely go about their business, refer to Arsenal's purchase of Vermalen and Samir Nasri, at a combined fee of about £25m. Also note Wenger's interest in Benzema (quoted at £22m-£25m).

The strategy is to recruit young (high) talent and potential at low or relatively low prices.
Vermaelen and Nasri were (and still are) young, exceptional talented with massive potential and were low-cost.
Look how they have turned out: world class and were they to be sold, each would bring in twice what they were bought for, perhaps almost thrice.
(It's no surprise that John Henry often praises the Arsenal model.)

Now that's what we are also looking to do. Players such as Payet, Arda Turan, Elia, Marin, Phil Jones, Papadopolous could have about the same impact as Nasri and Vermaelen have had at Arsenal.
They are young, high potential and would be relatively low-cost at £9m-£15m each.
Get two or three of them for a combined fee £45m, and a year or two down the line they are established class acts and their values have doubled.

Granted, there exists possibilities of the player not being a success ( la Babel). Well, the issue with Babel is that he wasn't all he was he made out to be.
The players we are looking are the real deals, no overrating or overhyping. Such is their talent and potential (like Nasri) that there is near 100% chance that they'll make it.

Comolli's job is to find these players, and he's more or less looked to Ligue 1, which doesn't surprise me. The French has always had some of the most talented young players who are low cost.
In recent years those being Evra and Samir Nasri, who we all know have set the Prem alight.

The current crop of this low-cost young talent includes, inter alia, Etienne's Dmitri Payet and Blaise Matuidi, Toulose's Moussa Sissoko, Rennes' Yann M'Vila and Lille's Gervihno.
The first four are, like Samir Nasri, young, very good players, the future of French football. And they would all cost under £15m.

Some people saying Comolli shouldn't bring tons of French. Look, the fact of the matter is that France offers us what we need, at exactly the price we need it.
You see, we are not City, Chelsea or Madrid. We will not unnecessarily buy 5 £20m-£40m.

We have a plan. That plan is underpinned by prudence/ wise spending, which simply means to me: buy what you need at the reasonable price.
It's what Wenger has managed to do Arsenal, though not as well as he should have.

Whic brings me to Arsenal's reported interest in Benzema.
I've just said above that, although Wenger has be wise in the market, he hasn't been as wise as he should be. Benzema, or a player of the same calibre, is the reason.
Arsenal should long have signed established, experienced, world class players such as David Villa, Diego Milito, Raul Meireles, Benzema, De Rossi, Lisandro Lopez, Xabi Alonso, Sneidjer etc (not necessarily them).

You can't rely only on potential. You need established players of enormous (or fairly enormous) experience. These players usually are high-cost (£20m+).
Although John admires the Arsenal way, this is where we will differ from them: paying the big bucks for the right player when we it makes sense to do so.

High-cost, established players like Mata, Kun Aguero, Benzema, Aly Cissokho, Llorente, have been looked at.
And we would pay the right amount for some of these players as it would make sense to do so.
(Something Wenger wouldn't dare do.)

It wouldn't surprise me to see, say, Cissokho, Mata and Benzema (young and establised, high-cost) and Phil Jones, Blaise Matuidi, Moussa Sissoko and Dmitri Payet (low-cost) being brought in. (Add to that Sylvain Marveaux, also relatively young but huge talent.)

Now picture Jones, Payet, Matuidi, Sissoko and Marveaux going on to make the same kind of impact as Vermaelen, Essien, Nasri, Malouda. And all for what? Under £50m?
Wouldn't that be brillian? How many millions would we have saved?

You see, that's the plan, gentlmen, and it's a bloody perfect one.
Get more Nasris and Vermaelens, and one or two David Villas.
It's the sort of thing that had Wenger been able to do, Arsenal would be a real, I mean, REAL force right now.
It's the sort of thing that if we can be able to do, we'll be set to dominate for years to come.

I'll finish this by listing the signings that I think we could likely make, and which would make a lot of sense.

-Phil Jones
-Aly Cissokho
-Blaise Matuidi
-Moussa Sissoko
-Juan Mata
-Sylvain Marveaux
-Dmitri Payet
-Karim Benzema

These are all affordable and would likely be interested in joining. And there's one beauty about them: they are all below 25.
And that, folks, is my two cents.

Gracias,
Lombardi Cazorla

According to reports in Correio da Manha, Liverpool have agreed a fee of £25m for Benfica left back Fabio Coentrao.

{Ed002's Note - I suspect they are relaying the "football talk" story where someone has badly translated a story from "Correio da Manha" and arrived at "Benfica having agreed a deal with Liverpool" rather than "Benfica having agreed a deal with Real Madrid". By my reckoning Coentrao remains a 0/10. I am sure there will be plenty of active discussion about this later today.}

i think lfc fans who post on here need to start looking at the bigger picture. i do think lfc will spend big. i don't think we have choice if we want to move foward and get back to where we were. some fans say we don't have a chance of signing the likes of aguero, hazerd, hulk.but what i think the fans are forgetting is lfc is a big club and alot of players would love to play for the club and are even fans. so i think we stand a chance of getting some of the big names but alot of it comes down to what king kenny thinks will work for the team. so i think the players kk is looking at are the likes of downing, young, elia, lennon, perroti, payet, mata, diego, ayew, gervihno, javis, brunt, turan. all players with pace and skill. as for cm parker, sissoko, adams, defour and maybe xabi alonso. as for cb dann, jones, cahill. i can understand why he is trying to get brad friedel he is cheap and a good back up if needed. i do think alot of players that have been said will work well for the team. its just witch ones we end up getting. but i do think there is alot of good players around. i have fath in king kenny to get the right players in whoever they maybe.

Guys, seriously? Aguero....Dont you get that hes wages would be something like 240k a week? Juve have apparently offered him that kinda money (when converted to pounds). Im a chelsea fan, and don't think we can afford him, not sure how you think you lot will?

The only way i see Aguero in the prem is with City as a tevez replacement.

Instead of chasing Young we should put our money at Elia. I have faith in KK that he will do so and get this young talent. And what about Moussa Sow, has he a long contract with Lille? Cuz I think he's a pretty good back up striker. How anyone heard something about O.Wendt? Just some thoughts and questions.

Hi there, just wanted to shed a little light on the whole whos coming and going with our beloved Liverpool FC. I live about a 5 min walk from Liverpools football academy and I have a good friend who is a physio there, (he works with both the senior and the youth squads) when I spoke to him recently he told me that KK and DC had a list of 10 players for 5 different posistions( 2 for each posistion, so they've got a 1st choice and a 2nd choice for each posistion). The posistions we are looking to fill are CB, LB, LM, RM, CM. The 2 CB's Dann, Jones 2 LB's Clichy, Enrique 4 wide players Young, Downing, Elia and Mata 2 CM Adam, Keita. He did'nt say who the 1st choices were but without wanting to sound like Rafa Benitez, this is all fact. This comes from the same person who told me within a week of Rafa leaving that Hodgson was going to be the next manager and told me the exact date and time the Suarez deal was going to be confirmed to the public 3 days before it happened.
So can we please stop with the Aguero nonsense, he'a great player but were not even looking at him.
Great site by the way, Eds comments would be welcome. {Ed001's Note - seems strange there is no Sissoko in there when it is known that Comolli has told him that he is seen as Gerrard's long term successors.}

In response to the above. I also live around 5-10 minute walk from the youth academy in Southdene Kirkby. If you are genuuine then I also know the physio as he is my cousins cousin (i know typical cousins cousins dogs best mate lol).
He has only been there just over a year (maybe 18 months) and I highly doubt that he would know who the club are bringing in. Why do people seem to think that everyone who works for the club knows what is going on. Only once bids had been accepted and contracts discussed would doctors/ physios find out as they would have to check the player over etc.
Stop the Bull mate and don't think coz you live close to the academy you know anything.

Eds is it only me or other people also think that Nzogbia is a much better player than Young? And we shouldn't be disappointed if Young goes to Man U and we get Nzogbia instead. {Ed002's Note - There seem to be fans of both.}

25 May 2011 07:11:13
I am best mates with Kun Aguero, he told me over a beer last night that he will be signing for Liverpool this week.

He is not worried by the lack of CL football as he is aware of other signings that will basically guarantee a League title and CL qualification next season, including Messi, CR7, Ramos, Thiago Silva, Cruyff, Zidane, Zico, Pele and Beckenbauer.

C'mon people... Aguero would be a great signing for us, but we are still rebuilding and unfortunately are likely still some way away from competing for the signatures of players of that calibre, especially with the super-spenders of Europe all lining up to sign him.

Have faith that KK and Comolli will build a strong squad over the summer, even without a "superstar" signing.

25 May 2011 06:23:50
Sergio Kun Agureo is not out the question with wages and transfer fee, just remember Fenway arnt shy to splash the cash as they have done so with red socks star Manny Ram rez. his total contract is worth around 160mil USD. There will be one marquee player ... who that player will be will be anyones guess!!

Red Rover {Ed002's Note - You cannot compare Ramirez to Aguero at all. The financial structure of baseball is entirely different to football.}

25 May 2011 05:56:01
Eds: Im probably just dreaming but do you think there is any chance of liverpool signing Thomas Muller? {Ed002's Note - No, I am sorry.}

25 May 2011 05:44:47
Ed and fellow posters, who would you prefer: Ashley Young (Bel) OR Eljero Elia? (unbel)

25 May 2011 05:12:24
WOW United aren't messing about 17m on that keeper, 15m on Young and what 40m on Sneijder, they aren't really selling any one neither just splashing the cash. Benzima going to Arsenal Neymar going to Chelsea Man City have already signed 2 players that will blow your brains out?????

I am not going to lie to you, I think we have had better starts to the transfer window, it's going to be a long and depressing summer me thinks.

If we are going for the bargain basement then who really? Diego for 9m, if KK can sort out his attitude problem then that could be a steal, Nasri last year of his contract but I don't honestly see him coming our way perhaps Italy or Spain, I can't see Porto breaking up Falcao and Hulk partnership as they want CL glory.

These French lads to me seem a bit of a gamble and we've been here before under Houlier. Dann ok he's pretty cool, Friedel yea ok but not much to get excited about really is there, the worst thing is I think we could have quite a bit of cash from the fire sale, Ngog, Aqualani, Jones, J.Cole, Paulson, Eccelstone, Insua, Jovanovic, Kyriakos, Koncheski, Degen, El Zahr, Maxi and Mavinga? Even at a couple of million each thats gonna raise at least what 30m!

I will still live in my dream world and hope we buy Bale, Mata, Diego, Aguero, Dann, Baines and of course Friedel but some how I think I will be disappointed me thinks.

A slightly worried;

Tobey

25 May 2011 04:32:39
Don't stress everybody, KK is a very smart man and knows the value of a cohesive team atmosphere, he's not gonna pay 200k a week for a player of any calibre, trust the king to put together a squad that will fight for each other but still have that beautiful flair that we need. Despite what we all choose to believe in the way of rumours, the players we are after have all been selected and money has been allocated, in KK's words "now all we need is for someone to say yes". Expect some very classy players, but do not expect any massive egos or anything that could disrupt the squad. The liverpool work ethic and togetherness have been forged over many years thanks to Bill Shankly and this will not be abandoned just to see a few stepovers, especially not by somebody as smart as the King.

25 May 2011 04:18:24
If we buy a decent winger or 2, then i think the missing link would still be a great ball distributor, alonso is surely the man for this, i know it's a long shot, but he's what??? 31 now, so we'd still get at the very least 2 years out of him, plenty of time to win the league i think.

25 May 2011 04:10:46
Unpleasant rumours doing the rounds in Liverpool at the mo' - Dalglish and Comolli finding very little common ground and clashing hugely. Comolli wants to sign young, (relatively) cheap, skilful French/ Italian/ Spanish players who will come to fruition in 2 years time. Dalglish is looking at Adam, Scott Parker, Milner, Adam Johnson, Friedel - players with Prem experience, who are mostly British, and not necessarily the right side of 25.

The truly ugly spin being put about is that FSG/ NESV expect Kenny to fail with this policy, and they can then install the 40-year-old, progressive manager they wanted in the first place. They see Comolli as the really long-term appointment :(

Young or lennon

Few of our Target may didnt join us this year. 1. Sancez Udinese is in CL fotball he may like to play for them unless huge money been paid.
2. Hazrat Lille is in CL football so same thing can happen too.
3.Mata well even valencia is in CL but they are face huge financial back up as have to pay loan intarest so have a chance.
4. Aguero sum of us say its can happen sum said big dream. but Atlantico is not in CL and we have good relation with them, Torres was from there, we do play few friendly match with them for torres deal clouse. can be happen.
we can get Benzama as Mourinho stying in Real and benzama is dislike by him so he may like to move with us. what do you think Ed? {Ed002's Note - Out of all of these players there is perhaps a slim chance of Mata and perhaps Benzema.}

Are you for real how old are. I can't remember ever playing Atlantico

UEFA's fair play regs - I thought to myself, when they were proposed, what a good idea. Bring some parity to the crazy world of the football billionaires.
But on deeper reflection, aren't they trying to cage a monster they created themselves.
The be all and end all Champions League.
Where participation means DEBT.
Where the gamble to even take part can leave u BUST (Leeds anyone ?).
And now Platini is trying to stick his finger in the leaking dam.

a team to terrify nobody even in the championship, how did we sign this crock of sh**, ed is there any interest by any clubs signing any of them. {Ed001's Note - a bit harsh on Spearing, he did come through the youth ranks anyway so cost nothing. HI ed id think all these rumours about arguero is liverpool fans wishful thinking and to be honest i think we coould spend the 45 million euros a bit more wisely rather than one player... There is alot of deadwood at the club and it needs to be rid of players like, poulsen, ngog, jovanovic, joe cole ( not a bad player just don't think liverpool is the right club ) wilson, kyriagkos... Players like adam and ashley young should be made top priorities adam is one of the most techichally gifted midfielders in england he has a super left peg and he would only benefit from playin at a club like ours with the passion he shows, a new left back is in order clichy would fit the bill, a new rb i don't think johnson is good enough for liverpool my honest opinion i kjnow boswinga is out of contract this summer a possibility maybe???, we also need another striker maybe benzema rthe guy is an out an out striker no doubt, and finally i think liverpool need a margue player someone to grab the attention of every football fan in europe and i think we can get a better player rather than aguero for less 45 million maybe throw in a sneaky bid for kaka or nasri just my thoughts... I would appreciate if this was posted as ive wrote before and never have my comments been posted cheers, slo if u could rate the chances of gettin the players i mentioned just for fun cheers ed...

Adam
Boswinga
Clichy
Young
Kaka
Benzema
Nasri {Ed001's Note - are you for real? You don't think Johnson is good enough but you want on over the hill injury prone Boswinga in to replace him? Seriously?}

haeard young about t join utd, don't knw about any1 else but i don't think we are going to get any big names in this summer.Mata and adam will not make us prem winners r even top 4.we need quality like young and hazard even aguero btw i know we wont get these just saying they are the type of players we need.Dann or jones have potenitional but we need proven quality , hate to say it but we are on road to nowhere . we are linked with average at best players like , payet , marveaux , sissoko and nzogbia, .Need to bring in big names who will bring us back to the top not any of the above . Go for benzema and aguero , even lahm r klose anyone but relagated pleyers or french league rubbish
