we all know that Sakho will be moving on this summer, but would you take a swop with Zaha, he could turn out to be a top forward, lots of pace and power, just what we need .

Believable5 Unbelievable22

26 Apr 2017 20:30:21
Is that the lad who's a r s e went at Utd, couldn't handle it and sniffed round his colleagues female relatives?

26 Apr 2017 20:47:16
Watching crystal palace now. Does anyone else think we should have kept martin kelly. Decent squad player.

26 Apr 2017 20:50:59
Zaha a very good player now he's is like mane when he was at saints . The only problem he won't be creap and we would lose him and mane in January.

Surely there's better out there for the price.

26 Apr 2017 21:22:28
Lots of pace and power - like Origi you mean?

26 Apr 2017 21:23:27
Well he's jus the been taken of on a stretcher with his left leg in a splint. Possibly his knee.

26 Apr 2017 21:25:56
Sorry sakho has just been taken off on a stretcher with his left leg in a splint.

26 Apr 2017 21:59:03
zaha is class, fast skillful, powerful, direct, better than any left sided player we have . he's just given walker nightmares and walker is a calss rb.

{Ed025's Note - i like him as well barnes..

26 Apr 2017 23:05:59
Zaha is a terrific talent and by time he would be even better. Would fit like a glue in our system. He will run riot at defenders when we attack. I know some here don't rate him, But I would surely take a chance. How old is he?

26 Apr 2017 23:07:18
I think the criticism of him at United is unfair. They didn't give him a chance and what you're seeing is a young footballer hungry to recover his career and prove them wrong.

26 Apr 2017 23:05:59
Zaha is NOT on the same planet as Mane. That is simple for all to see. Zaha has been average his whole whole PL career and having a purple patch currently this season does not change that while Mane has been productive since he came to the PL and has proven that he can hack it at a big club, something Zaha failed royally at. Can he be great? Yes. Do we need him? Absolutely not. Rather play Woodburn or Wilson or get in a Brandt.

27 Apr 2017 00:18:23
Yeah let's just sign Brandt because he's not from the BPL, Zaha's a great player who's direct style of play would suit our system brilliantly.

27 Apr 2017 05:21:36
If I'm not mistaken, Zaha was Fergie's buy, but joined only after Fergie left, right?

27 Apr 2017 06:22:01
Zaha isn't really a left sided player, plays more on right and doesn't have a left footed cross so same as Milner and Coutinho he'd be pulling back onto right plus he'd be unavailable at same times as Mane so he doesn't solve problems.

27 Apr 2017 06:30:00
I think we're going for the ox.

27 Apr 2017 10:33:13
Saha was really impressive tonight and looks the real deal.

I have to say what a great job Big Sam has done since taking over.

Love him or hate him he is on top of his brief.

27 Apr 2017 10:38:39
i really hope not Ron. but its mainly due to his injury history, i don't really know how he is as i barely watch him.

27 Apr 2017 11:22:26
Is Zaha a hard worker off the ball? Is he willing to track back? Is he willing to put in the dirty work? If 'yes' then he could be a useful (albeit expensive) addition. I honestly think there are other areas in far more need of attention though - Zaha (or Brandt or Oxlaide-Chamberlain or whoever) would be a luxury signing rather than an absolute necessity - I hope we focus on defence first.

26 Apr 2017 18:50:41
A question for Ed001 if you're about, what was your opinion on Ryan Babel? From what I remember he was good in flashes but had a disappointing time at the club overall. It's mad to think that he's only 30 now.
Cheers Ed, I love the site.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he just lacked focus and so never made the gains he should have. He was always a better athlete than he was a player, but he could have become an excellent player if he had put the work in on the training pitches. Unfortunately, he was far more interested in trying to make it as a musician on the side.

Shame because he is a nice lad who genuinely supports Liverpool now.}

26 Apr 2017 20:13:09
Thanks for your insight Ed, it's a shame he didn't be have the work ethic. Thanks as well for the quick reply.

{Ed001's Note - I believe he has seen the error of his ways now, but it is too late for him to have the career he should have. Still, he will always have the Babelcopter.....}

26 Apr 2017 20:30:42
Is he doing well in Turkey? I think he's at Besiktas right?

26 Apr 2017 21:41:57
More importantly hows the music going?

{Ed025's Note - i actually built his music room lavers and let me tell you its crap mate, we refurbished his house in cuckoo lane and i know im a bit of an old codger but it was just noise..

26 Apr 2017 22:46:20
hahaha

he should have concentrated of his football then, may have achieved more.

26 Apr 2017 23:08:00
Always liked Babel and he did have some ability BUT could never put it all together. He had a fierce shot on him and could really get some power behind his shots.

27 Apr 2017 01:46:16
I seem to remember people comparing him to Bambi trying to walk on ice.

27 Apr 2017 03:43:36
If he had a football brain he would've been unstoppable. Unfortunately, he did not.

27 Apr 2017 08:56:41
He had that Gerrard/ Riise long ranger down.

27 Apr 2017 11:23:44
He had the ability but was very hot and cold. Technically he was woeful sometimes (like basic things such as not controlling a pass properly) - as another poster said he had zero game intelligence as well - just a big waste really as he could have been immense if he applied himself.

27 Apr 2017 11:32:34
Remember when I was about 10 when he first joined he was one of my favorite players. Scored a nice goal in one of his first games against Derby and remember him scoring a couple off the bench in the 8-0 against besiktas too. At the time I thought he was unreal lol. Was a great player to watch at times. A shame he never made it.

26 Apr 2017 18:01:43
So after much searching through the posts it is increasingly obvious who our incoming transfer targets are.

However, which players will be sold? Who would you like to leave? Who would you be most disappointed to see leave LFC?

Realistic replies would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Kam.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

26 Apr 2017 18:53:09
Would like to see Moreno leave, for his own good as well as ours. Wouldn't be too disappointed if Clyne and Lovren left. Klavan is a decent back up. Think Lucas and Sturridge will leave. Will be sad to see them both go to be honest.

{Ed025's Note - klavan a decent back up kate?, come on mate get a grip..

26 Apr 2017 19:15:47
Looks like 3 center backs could leave, klavan sahko and lovren so they will need replacing. After that my money is on Moreno, mignolet, Sturridge, Ings, and sadly IMO Lucas who has been a loyal servant to the club.

{Ed025's Note - yeah mate loyally picking up a bumper pay packet for doing sod all..

26 Apr 2017 19:32:17
Had Lukaku in his pocket ed 😂.

I would be very very angry if they let coutinho go. But won't be shock in any of are players get sold.

{Ed025's Note - some games that not really hard GOAC, couts is a great player but if barca come a callin then he may be off mate..

26 Apr 2017 20:28:34
Ed001 did a round up not long ago.

I'll rack my brains but I may have some of this wrong.

Likely to leave:
Sturridge, Lucas, Brannagan, Moreno, Sakho, Markovic, Ward

Possible to leave:
Ings, Kent, Coutinho, Stewart, Can, Clyne, Mignolet

That looks about right anyway!

26 Apr 2017 20:52:03
Ya I know this but it will hurt because the boy can get even better.

26 Apr 2017 20:58:19
Moving Can out while keeping Henderson lol. What do we gain?

27 Apr 2017 05:46:01
We probably won't get anyone much better than Klavan who is happy to sit on the bench ed.

{Ed025's Note - you should not want any player in the team who is happy to sit on the bench kate..

27 Apr 2017 09:02:06
I can see klopp using Kent next season. He has that pace we lack and won't be demanding in terms of game time. If he can grasp the tactics and team philosophy he has to tools to keep a place in the squad.

26 Apr 2017 13:59:16
cheer ED2 for all the time and work you do on here. Thanks to all the others EDs too.

Believable6 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

26 Apr 2017 15:30:28
With Newcastle being promoted do you think there's a chance Lucas will go back to Rafa?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

26 Apr 2017 16:03:06
Or maybe Rafa may take a hit on Sturridge.

26 Apr 2017 16:31:03
If sturridge wasn't a Liverpoool player and there were rumours going around that we were going to sign him I think the majority would think I hope not. This is not about studge bashing as on his day he's as good as any forward in the league but it is expected he will leave in the summer I can't think who would buy him with his injury record. I would love him to get his fitness back and be playing for us, Eds1 do you think he will ever get back to full fitness?

{Ed001's Note - not quite full, no.}

26 Apr 2017 17:22:00
He knows the player and only has about 6 Premier League quality players at his disposal. Could happen.

I'd hate to see Lucas leave, though. I still think he can do a job for us, especially with Europe next season.

{Ed025's Note - really?, time for the least skillful brazillian in history to hang up his boots for me SR, he is becoming a liability and should be put out to pasture before he becomes a pariah mate..

26 Apr 2017 18:47:23
But still better than Gareth Barry Ed 25 😉 Probably the most booked player in PL History.

{Ed025's Note - thats debatable welsh whether hes better or not, most bookings your right but thats because he never shirks a tackle mate, get rid of all the old fogies i say and bring the youth through, mind you thats easy for me to say with us just winning EPL2 with our U23,s while your academy is like ST trinians or the school for scoundrels.. :)

26 Apr 2017 18:51:16
Wasnt a liability in the derby recently. schooled d blues!

{Ed025's Note - he had a decent game there emre but one every 5 years is no good to anyone, i applaud you for defending your own though mate...but mind you you will be saying that can is a half decent player next..

26 Apr 2017 19:26:14
Ha. funny enough i will. He's being excellent these last two months.

26 Apr 2017 20:33:29
He will block any possible future of Kevin Stewart.

26 Apr 2017 20:56:21
Once again, give it a rest Harry it looks like KS is your crush today, you've mentioned him a few times now. He won't block his path, if Stewart is good enough he'll play-simple really! And I don't think there's much between Can and him in age so your once again talking rubbish!

26 Apr 2017 20:52:36
Ed25, have you ever watched Lucas play? He's still one of the best defensive midfielders in the League. I know he's not a regular but he always does a job when he is called upon. With our track record of injuries that will probably be quite a lot next season when we are in Europe as well.

{Ed025's Note - i actually watch a lot of liverpool games mate and to be honest hes not all that for me, he gives away a lot of needless free kicks and gets done for pace a lot, hes poor in the air as well and i dont actually get what he contributes to the side...mind you i dont wear red tinted specs so maybe if i get myself a pair i might see what you see.. :)

26 Apr 2017 20:57:44
Apologies to Harry if you were on about Lucas not Can. But still, if KS is good enough he will play.

26 Apr 2017 22:37:49
Ed25 I agree Lucas lacks pace and (particularly as he gets tired) has a habit of sticking a leg out and making reckless tackles but I disagree about his ability in the air. For such a short guy he reads the ball well and tends to attack it so generally is much better in the air than would be expected. For me he is a very good defensive midfielder in that he tends to do the little things well so often gets overlooked.

26 Apr 2017 22:20:25
I don't have rose tinted specs on Ed25, but if you think Lucas is poor in the air, you need to get down to Specsavers yourself. For his size he is way above average in the air.

If you look at all the defensive midfielders in the country, they all give away free kicks around the box - it's called 'breaking up play' and you have to tackle to give away a free kick, and he puts in more tackles than anyone else in the team. Also, the refs these days give a free kick fir breathing on someone.

I'll agree that he is not the fastest but he has overcome a serious injury to come back. Serious injuries can slow down any player - just look at Sturridge. Lucas reads the game better than most and this can compensate for losing a yard of pace.

Getting back to the original point, can we ask the readers? Press AGREE if you think Lucas is good in the air and DISAGREE if you think he is poor.

{Ed025's Note - good in the air for his size is the biggest cop out ever so no need to go there, it the same as saying hes the best player with the first name of lucas to represent brazil, i wont change your opinion as it seems you think that sturridge is not performing because of a previous injury and not because he just cant be arsed, so im afraid we will have to agree to disagree on this one mate..

26 Apr 2017 23:08:52
Ed025, whenever you do this page you never hold back :) Not many stupid, sarcastic put downs, but lots of firey banter and honest opinions, like things used to be, cheers!

{Ed025's Note - its how i grew up burkey with friendly banter between the teams but never giving an inch :), its still the same with my generation mate a lot of my friends are reds and some blues and we discuss games and players all the time but it has never turned nasty, some of my greatest memories are travelling to wembley with all supporters on the same trains and singing in pubs together even though we lost...its a pity its not like that now mate..

27 Apr 2017 10:37:48
He is not a defensive minded midfield and more an offensive minded player. Some buffoon shorn him in that role. He has a decent passing in him and always tries to make a forward pass unlike squareways and Sideways . Lacks pace, Hence he doesn't reach proper making those tackles which results in free kicks and penalties.
How could he be a good DM if he can't put those tackles in precisely?

26 Apr 2017 13:03:54
I remember many on here (including myself) doubting the transfer fee of a certain player from Southampton, Mane.

On that basis, and if it does happen, he might just show us what he's worth.

Of course, we have have others to contend with, but you never know.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

26 Apr 2017 14:20:50
At the end of the day the transfer fee is irrelevant, it's not our money so who cares.

If it's a player we need then that's all that matters.

26 Apr 2017 14:25:01
Also his mentality was questioned. Thankfully we did sign him.

26 Apr 2017 16:22:22
I was one of those who frowned at Mane and Wij signings and I have been forced to eat crow so I'm not going to be questioning Klopp anytime soon about signings.

26 Apr 2017 17:32:35
I think the issue people had with mane was his attitude. Obviously £34m was a lot for anyone, nobody could say they didn't bulk at the transfer fee but some of us genuinely wanted him. Like with Lallana I thought he would be a great signing but at £25m I wasn't so sure. You win some and you lose some, and to be honest we have been losing far too often. Even last summer, it was a hit and miss summer, mane Matip and wiji have all come good but karius, grujic, klavan haven't. I guess the others didn't cost nearly as much so it's not as negative as it may seem but just taking into account our record before hand, I hope this summer breaks the cycle. I hope we hit more than miss.

Also where mane and wijnaldum Klopp signings. I thought they where both looked at before and recommended to Klopp.

26 Apr 2017 16:53:02
Mane was a trouble on and off the pitch but there was never a doubt on his ability.

26 Apr 2017 23:16:08
Kman, Mane and Wiji were Klopp signings, thru and thru. Klopp wanted Mane at BVB since the 2012 Olympics where he tore it up with Kouyate, Pape, Souare, Gana Gueye of that brilliant Senegal team. He then went to Red Bull Salburg then to Saints. Klopp himself said he would have paid a lot more to get him as he was THE player he wanted.

as for Wij, Klopp wanted Zeilinski but due to tapping up allegations against Klopp, Udinese wouldn't sell to us and sold to Napoli instead. Then, Wij was his next choice.

26 Apr 2017 12:12:59
I can't help but laugh at sheer irony of some of our "fans" on this page.

they do nothing but b@tch and moan about lfc day in, day out yet any perceived negative comment from Ed2 absolutely outrages some of the worst offenders!

it can be hard to swallow what ed2 says sometimes in reference to klopp but you have to respect his opinion based on the knowledge he has.

i can also understand why he refers to "all fans" being fickle and poor supporters when the reality is that the positive ones who stick by players are massively outnumbered on this site.

can people also stop using supporting chelsea as a means of attacking ed2 is so boring and incredibly embarrassing.

Believable9 Unbelievable15

26 Apr 2017 12:30:59
If our fans are fickle and bitch and moan then its obviously chelseas and Ed002s fault, what's not to understand? Lol.

26 Apr 2017 12:31:39
I think your right 87red but its not just ed02 its all the eds you got respect even ed25 (el bluenose himself), i know the posters like bantering with each other but realistically the posters come here to get the eds opinions because they seem to be in the know as they say, so people should quit the moaning just because they dnt like the answer or just look for another site.

26 Apr 2017 12:36:02
Spot on 87Red. The Eds give their time for free to enlighten us fans. Yet there is a group of fans who do nothing but abuse them, Ed002 especially.
Sorry if this bruises anyone's ego but Ed002 has more knowledge of the game than any of us. I for one am grateful for the insights (transfer targets) and other info he gives us.
Let's lay off them just because they tell us some home truths. The vocal minority of our fans are unfortunately fickle, readily abusing players, staff and owners. I could think of nothing worse than the club giving in to the likes of Spirit of Shankly.
I think we are lucky the Eds don't appear to take the abuse to heart and abandon us. Keep up the excellent work eds some of us appreciate it.

26 Apr 2017 13:25:18
I'm sure it will be not much of a problem for you to just ignore them, Ed02. There are loads of readers really appreciate your views and inputs, same to other Eds as well. Most of us may not post or send replies as much, but this site is definitely one of our favourites.

26 Apr 2017 17:33:13
Love it when the posters in question know they've been called, have no legitimate response so just click disagree 😂😂😂.

26 Apr 2017 10:43:05
Centre back - test Chelsea's resolve regarding Ake.
Midfielder - continue our tradition of buying Southampton players and go all out for Oriel Romeu.
Love Sakho to get another chance too but sadly I think not.

Believable2 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - Ake isn't a CB - he played there for Chelsea as part of a back three. It seems unlikely Klopp will change his system to accommodate a player he has no interest in.}

26 Apr 2017 11:27:02
Judging by Sakhos reaction to Bentekes goal, I don't think he has any intention of playing for Liverpool next season.

26 Apr 2017 11:31:04
He could improve our defence dramatically whatever formation we play, 3 or 4 at the back. Your right though, klopp is unlikely to change his system but he looks very comfortable in a back 3. I understand we have no interest also and Chelsea probably have no interest in letting such a talent go.

{Ed002's Note - There is interest in Ake from elsewhere and clubs have approached Chelsea - but not Liverpool.}

26 Apr 2017 11:45:46
He seems to think of himself as a CM despite his recent defensive outings at Bournemouth.

26 Apr 2017 14:34:59
I like Ake a lot, good defender and a good football brain on him. Can play LB, CB or centre midfield competently, I'd sign him because he is a good all rounder.

26 Apr 2017 15:39:33
Pity Klopp hasn't any interest in Ake as I personally would prefer we get him over Van Dijk, but that's just my preference.
Still keeping the faith in Klopp though.

YNWA.

{Ed001's Note - we need someone like Gibson, more vocal and commanding, which is what we lack.}

26 Apr 2017 15:56:12
I'd be happy with Gibson too! There are available players who will dramatically improve our defence it's just a case of klopp being interested and as one of the Editors said, the demand for centre halves is big this summer meaning we will have to pay big money for one. even with that in mind VVD is WAY over priced and over rated and I hope we don't get him!

26 Apr 2017 15:57:16
Ed1 do you actually think there's anything in these van dijk rumours.

{Ed001's Note - no.}

27 Apr 2017 03:48:21
Would be very happy with Ake. What a player he is going to be for years to come.

27 Apr 2017 10:55:34
Seen a few people mention Gibson, and I have to admit I have been very impressed with him for Boro this season, my only reservation would be whether he could handle the pressure of playing for us, it's one thing being the big, vocal, commanding presence at Boro, but doing it at Liverpool is a tottaly different thing as we've seen from many players we've signed from smaller clubs over the years.
