I am new to this site and i hope my first post does not sound daft, but is there any possibility Liverpool will fail wit their attempt to sign coates, because of visa problems ? Surely KK and DC were aware of his situation. Also his Coates actually having his medical today.
Thanks for tour time. RED FISH

I'd imagine a visa shouldn't be too much trouble, as Coates now has a great reputation in the game following his prestigious best young player of the Copa America award.

He's now grown into a regular in one of the top ranked teams in World Football and has European lineage/ancestry apparently - which whilst not being a/the deciding factor in his case, will certainly do his case no harm.

Parallels could perhaps be drawn with Hernandez at Utd or even our very own Lucas. A young star with Coates CV should have no problem getting a permit.

Exceptional ability is taken into account - and he is one of the highest rated young defenders in S. America, his case is easy to argue.

If I'm wrong. I'm prepared to be massacred here. But it's all cool.

His Copa America performance swung the balance, were it not for that - the move could have been doubtful, although he has been awarded other young player of the year awards in the past whilst playing for his club side Nacional. So his case could have still been argued.

Such awards helped us sign Lucas who had won numerous individual awards at Gremio despite not being a regular senior International at the time.

Fingers crossed!

First post, so I felt I had to reply. Those are just my thoughts. The eds and others may or may not agree.

Welcome RED FISH.

BJH YNWA.

He is a full international, with Spanish & British heritage shouldn't be a problem with a visa.

I know this sounds crazy but my club source just told me there are whispers that we're about to make a shock bid for Gareth Bale.

Jake

With Enrique and Downing and the fact he only plays well in spurts and the fact he publically criticised Liverpool????
Two or three decent games and he's gone from Spurs just wanting him off the wage-bill to a £60m superstar?
What a load of bull!!
ANFIELDPETE

I suggest you get new sources.

ed quick ? why dont lfc just release aqua and let him leave for good it could be a case this time next year he ,l be back with us and we will go tru this crap again ,he does not play for us and yet we are still paying his wages thats really good buisness we pay 17 million outright for him and he plays for different teams ,sorry for going on about this but its time he was gone for good he was never needed or wanted by kk roy we will not get any money for this player release this player and take the hit and move on

Eds, Can you confirm whether it was Aquilani who asked Hodgson for a loan last season or was he told he was surplus to requirements and then he asked to go on loan?

Many Thanks for your sterling efforts. {Ed002's Note - Aquilani wanted out.}

Ed002 - Thank you for all the info on this disrespectful and unsavoury tale.

Getting 3 out of seven is not really something to be proud of considering most names were being discussed. I could of guessed as good as you.

A few things to mention after watching the super cup tonight.
1. We don't need Hulk.
2. Would love Mascherano still on our squad
3. Who will ever match this Barca side for skill and pace?
One thing is for certain Red men, we are closer to them than we were last season :)
Ultra Red

1. Yes, we don't need Hulk.
2. Mascherano is still a great player. But past is past.
3. Liverpool Football Club. (In 2 years)

In response to Bigg2966....
I'm sorry, but :
Cleverly, Anderson, Nani, Giggs, Valencia, Young, Park, Carrick and Fletcher. Man United have an immense midfield. The Ed's will clarify i'm a regular poster on the Liverpool sight and its abundently clear i'm a Liverpool fan! Don't look at the weakness of other teams to make yourself feel better. Look at the quality we have to make others look poor. I still believe our squad is missing one match winner. Gerrard? Who knows with his injury record of late. I fancy a speedy winger/striker. Bellamy? Possibly. Coates looks a dead cert. In my honest opinion, don't rule out Dann as well as Coates. We only have Carragher-old, Skrtel-clumsy, Wilson-young, Agger-injury prone, Coates-new. Dann is a very strong possibility.
On top of Bellamy i would also love another match winner in the making. I want Comolli to unearth a star for us. I have followd AC Milan since Istanbull, and last year a young German lad Alex Merkel was thrown into the starting lineup. 19 year old attacker. He is electric. Potential to be a real star. I know Liverpool have shown no interest at all, but this is the sort of Gem we need to be plucking from the continent.

YNWA! (Adam)

I'm sorry but United's midfield is ridiculously bad for a title-winning team. Probably the worst ever Premiership-winning midfield - of the players you mentioned only Nani and maybe Valencia (IMO) could be classed as real classy players who could play for most teams on the continent. The rest are terrible to average.

And I don't think Dann is possible at all if we sign Coates, he's not even as good as Skrtel so there's no point buying him if he's just going to get in the way of good prospects.

Martin

I'm sorry but you are deluded Martin. Cleverly and Anderson are two top young talents. Giggs is a veteran in this league. Young, Valencia and Nani are electric. Park is a more skillful, but less clinical Dirk Kuyt, and Carrick and Fletcher are two of the most underated midfielders in the world. Last year United bossed the midfield 'almost' every game. If you are suggesting they are somehow weaker this year, you must think very highly of Scholes and Hargreaves who are the only players they have lost in the centre.
That is not to say our midfield and Man Cities midfield cannot compete with it. If we want to reclaim 'our' top spot this season, United need to be knocked off of 'our' perch, becuase they are not about to fall.
Ed002, as a slightly less biased Chelsea fan, would you say Man United are weak in midfield this year?

YNWA! (Adam)

I would say United are weak in midfield, this and last year. Fletcher is in no way under rated, how he plays for a top half team I don't know as well as Carrick who does nothing. Young is a good winger, but as for a midfield he does all the attacking and no defending/covering neither does Nani nor Valencia. While many may disagree that wingers shouldn't do that then look at the state of their full backs, they need cover as it's normally Smalling and Jones covering or the brazilian twins. None of them come close to how solid Kelly and Enrique are. Whilst United have some good prospects, the experienced players are mostly injured and Arsenal have proven you won't win anything with kids.

26 Aug 2011 22:07:35
If kk wants Craig Bellamy trust his judgement.

Bellamy similar player 2 Suarez, a menace, pace & can beat a player n score goals. If Suarez got injured we have no pace upfront & become one dimensional.

Rafa is enough to disrupt any players form & mind. Bellamy had crutial performance in UCL semi after the golf club incident.

I think it's a smart signing.

Jimbob

Very smart indeed :)

I also agree with Jimbob. An instant (and essential imo) improvement to the squad (which is looking good!).

Why he doesn't have a job

"Kantapallo" report Coates signing has been completed.

It has been confirmed this morning that the Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has signed the 6ft 6in defender Sebastian Coates from Nacional in Uruguay. This means that Dalglish has ended any interest in the Bolton defender Gary Cahill and has probably bought an even better player.

Coates may only be 20 years old but has already captained his club to two League titles as well as three Copa Libertores tournaments. Add to that his five appearances for his country while winning the Copa America this summer (where he was named the best young player of the tournament) and you could hardly say that Liverpool are buying an untested or inexperienced player.

This could also be one of the bargain signings of the summer as it has been reported his transfer fee was only £7million, which for a player of that experience and promise is a steal.
Nacional have already announced his departure officially and he was caught at the airport yesterday on his way to Anfield for his medical before he can officially sign his contract with Liverpool.

Having been at Nacional since he was just 11 years-old, it may take a little while for him to adjust to English life, but with his countryman Luis Suarez at Liverpool to help him settle in he should be okay. Liverpool fans will be looking forward to seeing the giant youngster in action as soon as possible…..

Sorry for copy and paste.

Reports coming in suggest Sebastian Coates turned down 200k a week at Man City to join Liverpool. In his words he said '" what can one man do with all that money "

Not even man city would offer that much wages.

Ed what chance would you give of a 3rd player signing after coates and bellamy (if those two deals happen)?

If the Bellamy rumours are true I would be happy to see him back.

He is experienced, pacy, committed and can score and make goals. He will also see it as his last opportunity at a major club and will be invaluable as a squad player. He will be a great player to bring on against tiring defences and can also step in for any of the strikers or wingers if we hit injury problems.

So, these are all major plusses but the main reason I would be happy to see him return is that, when he left last time, many of the media and press tried to get him to slag Liverpol off. Despite him getting a bit of a raw deal last time he didn't have a bad word to say about the club. He never once rose to the bait and I had a lot of respect for him for that. This proves to me that he is one of those who say they supported the club who is actually genuine.

i say have a go and try to sign adam johnson, city have enough cover. won't hurt trying. 15m bid.

I like to think that those in charge of lfc are doing more than throwing money around in the hope that they'll land some good signings.

Assuming that Coates sign, other central defenders we have are:

Carragher - coming to the end, top bloke, but getting clumsy and lacking pace.
Agger - injury prone, but when fit is top class.
Skrtel - At times careless and reckless.
Wilson - inexperienced, although in Scotland national side.

Is a further bid for Cahill or Dann really that unlikely?

I feel Arsenal will sign Cahill this window. Come January, if Dann isn't signed this window - could he be signed then instead? Because by then, Agger will probably be injured.
Jacob red.

Jesus theyre all crap by sounds of you, if every defender was immaculate u would never see a goal, we now have a very good complete back 4 and i mean left back n right back which helps make the unit stronger, last week they were immense cos it was all 4, usually it cara or agger r skrtel having to do mopre
5 gold stars

26 Aug 2011 19:11:20
As much as Carra is getting on i dont think he'll be out of the team within 4 weeks. As good as Agger is and i do think he's world class, Nasri went past him like he wasn't there,no way would he have got past Carra that easy and in pre season he was turned inside out for a goal in the far east. Just think that if that was Carra who Nasri floated past some would be asking to put the poor bugger down. As good as Coates now and has massive potential. Lets not put to much pressure on him being only 20. I think he'll adjust pretty quick to the Prem but wouldn't just write Carra off just yet he's a fighter and although K.K wont pick teams on sentiment theirs still life in the old dog yet. Also think we should keep defo keep Skertl as there will always be injuries and he knows the Prem inside out,as well as being a pretty damn good defender, just prone to a lapse in concentration now and again. Jonson6

To be fair top 4wards do get by top centre halves , otherwise you would have nil nil all the time, nasri is top,i think were guna have 4 top notch cb n kenny might want 2 players of quality for every position and 4 strikers
5 gold stars

Well said regarding Carra. the people knocking him havent got many good examples in games of his faults, and the vast expierience and leadership he gives is often widely overlooked and undervalued.

I really don't want to sound negative, but just wanted to post a thought and see what other people think. With strong rumours bellamy will be joining on a free with a lucrative contract do any others feel this could be another joe cole or jovanavic in the making? Although bellamy certainly is a good player, he hardly made the biggest impact in the season he was here before. I think he could be a good impact player for this season in getting back in the top 4, but we'd certainly need better if we were challenging for titles. Like I said he could be a good player for us, but with wages and signing on fees, his occasional behaviour and attitude, he could become a costly signing. Again I don't want to sound negative, just wondered what everyone else thinks?
D.K

I think he will add something to the squad that we don't currently have.
He's a proven scorer, good as a back up striker, and a good right winger that can beat a man and get a good cross in if needed there also.Worth a punt.Hopefully we finish top 4 this year we will be able to attract a few big names next summer.
AL

I personally feel he is the right type of player under the right manager. He is something different to what we already have upfront and can play various positions. His experience and pace even at 32 can only be a plus for the club.

No way he will be offered a lucrative contract. Only reason J. Cole got the salary he did was RH had a mancrush on him. LFC aren't that desperate for the Bellman's services. In fact, after a year of championship footie he is desperate for a piece of the action at anfield.

I've had the same thoughts, but I believe he will be offered a contract that should prevent us ending up the same situation, i.e. one year long with optional extensions. I am however confident he will at least be better than both Cole and Jovanovic. Jova was clearly not suited to the Premier League, and Cole has been on the down for a while, hence Chelsea releasing him. Bellamy should still be able to do a decent job for us.

DP

Joe Cole used to be very fast and confident on the ball, he has been injured a few times, one being serious and since then has seemed to lose the spark he had. Jovanavic was a mistake and shouldn't have happened but oh well.

Craig Bellamy still has his pace, he hasn't been injured, he has great dribbling and a good cross. I can happily say that you have nothing to worry about D.K.

scousetoby

You're sounding negative even though you really don't want to.

This work permit business always baffles me. Coates (if permitted entry) will be earning hundreds of thousands of pounds per month, all of which he will pay tax on. He will also undoubtedly live the high life, and spend large chunks of his money in our towns and cities. Its not as if once through customs hes gonna disappear, never to be seen again.

Only UK have that funny ruls and thst why all The England club have to use big amount of money to bring player from spain, Holland, Portugal look at suarez if he direct join from Uruguye then he may not get permit too.

just a thought why could we not have got adebyor?(spelling)

would of been great back up,he will score 20 plus this season lets hope it aint gonna hurt our champs league push!!

No european football and his astronomical wages.

Not sure he is the right player for the dressing room and we need players who are up for a fight... not sure Adebeyor is that player

Just a thought: we didn't want him.

He will prop be playing reg at spurs, dont he would with us

To all those "fans" slating Damien Comolli earlier in the transfer window, should be ashamed and give credit wheres credit due.
Everyone was complaining that he did not do enough so early in the transfer window in June and it felt like doom's day.
Now that we are less than 1 week away from the close of the transfer window, I for one, could not be MORE excited about the new season and what liverpool can achieve.
He has done ONE hell of a job in the negotiations for the players that are in coming in and the players that are going out.
Last year, after the first 10 games of the season, I really gave up on Liverpool and started to hate watching football.
KK came back and everything changed.
DC brought in Suarez and Carroll in Jan, to replace the ineffect pair of Torres/Babel. While on paper, the later looks great, in reality, they did not want to play for Liverpool.
This transfer window, I have been hooked for the first time in my life and just so so happy with the way things have gone.
So, come on, thanks KK and DC for the outstanding work that they have done (still Coates/Bellemy to come), get behind the new lads that have come in (Hendo) and just have a smile on your smile whenever you run into the SKUM (man u) fans and see what new heights/records are achieved this season

Good stats on LFC site include if we win tomorrow, we would have same points it took 9 games to get last year.

Plus around this time last year, we were in the BOTTOM THREE. COME ON PEOPLE, get BEHIND THE PLAYERS and THE TEAM and LETS beat all the PRESS and CRICTICS

Torres ineffective, Babel looks great on paper! We should be thankful Torres ever signed for us with those 2 muppets in charge. And i would hardly say Babel is setting the Bundesliga alight! Thank you Torres even though it went t!ts up, and Babel you're overhyped
JFT96

Good times ahead ! KK AND DC have shown the patience and persistance to follow THEIR plans for L.F.C and everything is falling into place , its ok to question but to slag KK/DC s decisions so early on in the summer and in the beginning of the season shows a lack of faith that is undeserving of this great club, kingkennykop7

Well said mate. good times at the club.

Well said mate. good times at the club.

Dont speak of Judas... The guy left on bad terms. He wa El sulk for the first half of ast seaon. Have you noticed hw Kenny has been praising all the players leaving this window for their attitude. Torres must have been told we were going to spend big and try and challenge. It was supposed to be. At Chelsea he claimed to be going to "Big" cub with "History"... To be honest we should be aiming on a par with Chelsea this season, our squad isnt far behind..

Of all the man city cast off's I would have thought we would be in for SWP, still has bags of pace, trickery and still scoring goals. I would take both him and Bellamy.

fatboy

Don't be silly

Still scoring goals? He has 9 league goals in the last 3 years. He's better off performing a double act with his dad - a bit like Keith Harris and Orville.

I could understand if you had a crush on a Single White Female- SWF, but a Slim Weight Pansy... cmon now SWP couldn't get play from a desperate jailhouse pimp, let alone KD.

No thank you mr mancini!!

Trickery bags of pace come on.haha your funny

26 Aug 2011 16:39:19
Hi everyone, hope all of you are well, now I know this is greedy because we have already spent so much money on good players this and last transfer window but I really feel like KK and DC will bring in a big signing on deadline day.

What does everyone else think?

P.s. Coates would be such a clever signing.

I wouldnt rule it out mate! you never know

My sentiments as well Bommy,a Manc who's crudding bricks. And let Utd have all their players on international duty. Dont wish injury on anyone but 8/1 one of their players will pick up a knock. Jonson6

living and working in Manchester as i do there is a lot of united fans running scared this season and trying to hide behind brovado. We arent good enough citeh are just a side of individuals chelski too old, fergies got a whole new team for the next ten years with the likes of wellbeck, jones, cleverley and smalling and their goalie will come good hes only 20 gonna be here in 15 years time as the greatest ever keeper- so heres my take on the whole thing.
united - poorer than last year, no scholes giggs another year older and where is the bite in midfield coming from, noone to drag the team up when they are under par
citeh - great players, who may well gel into a great team but i always fancy teams to score against them so not sure
chelsea - some good signings but still an older team but with a good new manager, may take time to settle and le sulk isnt of to the best of starts this season
arsenal - lost 2 very very influentiel players i do like the look of gervinho if he is on the pitch long enough but not sure they can withstand the loss of cesc and nasri
liverpool - some good solid signings, suarez is different class as we all know, a team in the making not of superstars but solid pro's.Downing could be brilliant as our supply, bellamy back as support to cover wide or upfront would do me and coates looking very likely.
all in all i think you could throw a blanket over 4 of the 5 leaving arsenal and tottenham to battle 5th spot.
top spot i dont know lfc look capable, city looking good chelsea's change of system and method of play may cost them the league and united just dont have a strong enough midfield IMO
so all in all a good season ahead and if we dont win it we will be a lot closer than last year and building momentum for the following season.
i would like to say thanks to john henry and tom for all their hard work and putting their money where their mouths are and fully supporting this great club and king kenny, what a difference a year makes

YNWA

Good post mate.

HAHA! You boys keep telling yourself that ;) Whatever makes you sleep easier at night and feel better about yourselves.

TK-Red

Im a liverpool fan an would love to think we will be battling it out at the top, not this year tho, united, as much as i dislike them, will walk the league, chelsea an city will battle it out for 2nd, we will have to fight aresnal an spurs for 4th which i think we will win

Tk red you know your midfield is the weak point and when you play the big teams its gonna cost you dearly. i still think you will be up there but if you look at your midfield which other club would take your 2 central men - none of them therefore your teams weakest in the heart undoubtedly you are a good side bit as spuds found out against you the central midfield battle in the big games is where it is won and lost, spuds midfield was non existent on monday no modric or palecios(spelling) and you ran them over in the second half. when it comes to your midfield agains chelsea's honestly whos is stronger, against liverpool again honest do they matgch up to gerrard, lucas, adam, merieles answer again no - so keep dreaming that fergie has uncovered another great team as it wont be great till you unearth another keane or the like that can control a game or grab it by the scruff and drag your team through a rough game like gerrard can. defensively citeh probably the weakest,up front all have good/great players who can turn it on and win a game by themselves so the middle is the battle to win unless its goalkeepers and honestly who would you have hart, chec, reina or de geay hand on heart yours would be my last choice he may come good but old toilet is a graveyard for keepers and the jury is out on yours. so tk red look at it honestly and tell me i am wrong

bigg2966

Yup what a JOKE- De Gea will never be class, well maybe in 20 years he teach a class called "How to fall on your face straight after being gifted the best opportunity of your life" Well, actually I take that back he couldn't dream of getting down on the ground that fast!

LFC will win the Premier this season after all our troubles last season we still finished 2nd in the top 6 mini league.
kidmillions

Scholes started like 17 games last season, none of which were the big games against the biggest opposition. I don't think the 38 year old Giggs will be any slower than the 37 year old Giggs, do you? This guy is getting fitter if anything.

26 Aug 2011 16:23:09
Looks like Bellamy and Coates are signing (if so) is that it or are LFC looking to sign 1 more player since Aquaman is gone and looks like Jcole? Whats the word on Oscar or Diego? no chance since Meireles is staying? If this is repeated I'm sorry I just found this site. Great info

26 Aug 2011 16:18:28
Hi Ed's I am addicted to this site, it is the number 1 for rumours! I have 3 questions I hope you can answer. 1) Will Coates sign by tomorrow's game? 2) are you sure Bellamy will sign despite reports he will, as he doesnt fit the FSG policy 3) do you have an injury update for Gerrard?

Thanks, keep up the good work guys.

Matty11LFC
{Ed002's Note - (1) Possibly but he will not be playing. (2) No. (3) No.}

26 Aug 2011 16:16:50
Ed002, whats the "requirement" that needs to be met to get the work permit? the one that suarez has met and coates have not? {Ed002's Note - You need to play in 75% of your country's international games over the previous 2 years. The PFA are trying to make the rules stricter.}

26 Aug 2011 16:15:28
ed do you know how much of aquilani's wages will liverpool have to pay while he is on loan?

thanks

I have never seen Bryan Ruiz play but if he's been linked with fulham is he really good enough?
Zac10

He was also linked with Spurs.

Or could it be Fulham punching above their own weight? ( And i mean no disrespect to Fulham)
LeeWils

Could be true that Gerrard is naturally flat footed. I certainly have never ever seen him with a spring in his step. Expect to see him on the bench in the next game after the international break.

Chi-Paul

He was also links with us when we still had torres

26 Aug 2011 15:51:29
On his last legs doesnt mean his legs have gone ya wombat. Carra has never had pace in the first place - people misread stuff. The term means he wont be around for much longer and that his successor will soon be getting more time on the pitch - just like we did with Sami. As for Skrtel just because I think he raises the occasional question mark doesnt make me any less of a red - giving 100% is one thing, 100% and talent is another. Skrtel is a good player but nobody is indispensable. It's progression in football, if a better player can be brought in then you do it. Otherwise we would be happy battling it out like the relegation dodgers with lads who give 100% every week - we don't because we pride ourselves on our own standards. Too much faith in too many dodgy signings seen us accept below par players and signalled our own demise in the 90's.

Ped

Carra's lack of pace didn't matter when we where a team under Houlier Rafa, and especially Woy,when we played deep defensive first football.Kenny likes to play a high line.Carra is not upto this style of play. Coates will have his position within 4 Wks . Mark my words

I don't think people need to worry about coates getting a work permit.
I know he's not played many game for Uruguay , but he got young player of the copa America , and Uruguay are high in the fifa rankings so I don't see a problem.

Why are people so obsessed about Transfer fees and wage bills...? Are you guys paying that out of your pocket..? That money is coming from USA.. So please stop bitching about player's transfer fee.. and BTW if you think you could have got a world class player for 35 mills, then you guys have to think about the wages they want too and the Andy Carroll is only 21. so please give him some time.. and start supporting our players.. or get the f**k out of here..Fu***ng moaners..

Musicnation...

Course the fans pay out of their pockets, increasingly more as well.
And I'm afraid that very recent history has given all LFC supporters great cause for concern where our finances are concerned.
Alright ?
The Real KB

Good post mate. Everyone needs to get off carrolls and Hendos backs, give the lads a chance. They're much more likely to fulfil their potential with our support! Hendo is a very talented and technically gifted individual and Carroll will be a monster who no CB in the premiership will want to mark. I for one will be giving every one of Kennys boys my total support. YNWA

Eds can i ask for an update on the craig bellamy to liverpool situation??

26 Aug 2011 15:31:59
Hi Eds great work going on here. I wanted to thank you and macca for all this. And have a little query about the work permit , why is this necessary for Coates? {Ed002's Note - He is Uruguayan.}

Suarez got a work permit then and why we hear that coates could well not get a work permit? {Ed002's Note - There are criteria to be met. He does not meet them, Suarez did.}

26 Aug 2011 15:18:24
Question for macca or the ed's, do you think that Coates will get a work permit? Or do you think that the deal will fall through because of a decline? Would appreciate an answer! Cheers, scouserseb {Ed002's Note - Being declined a work permit still leaves options to get a Spanish passport or go on loan. I doubt it would fall through because of that, and I doubt that it would be worked out before the window closes in any case. I would expect him to sign.}

26 Aug 2011 14:53:56
Just saw the slowmo footage of the Meireles fall and couldn't help but feel it was a bit dramatic and staged?!
Could Raul be trying one on to stay for a while longer?

Great work Eds

I can confirm this is true only because he has tickets for The Magic of Motown next week at The Empire on the 1st and he didn't want to be transferred out before catching the show.

Ye - he`s also booked tickets for the pantomine and does not want to lose the money - no refunds!!

26 Aug 2011 14:14:53
does anyone know if there is any real intrest in Davide Santon?

AJ

LFC need someone in the mould of Suarez, Downing or Gerrard, these players can make it happen with either pace, creativity, skill or just being class. If we were to get another player like this then with hopefully the new additions in defence this would complete the squad. I believe top 4 would be a given and LFC would be challenging for PL.

The players I think are Coates and Cahill, sell Skrtel. We should go for Adam Johnson and our squad would be mainly full of young british talent.

For a way out there i would like LFC to go for Douglas Costa and back up Jarvis (under rated).

Baz Mac

You say ' LFC need someone in the mould of Suarez, Downing & Gerrard ' erm Liverpool HAVE suarez downing and gerrard lol.

DMT 07

Read on before replying. I stated if we get another player of that mould, players that can unlock defences. So stating something that I know and clearly everyone else knows is just a waste of time DMT 07

Baz Mac

Baz mac skrtel been our best player last yr besides lucas. why would we sell him

I am very disappointed (a bit relieved) after seeing Martin Kelly not included for England squad, but players like Jones, Cleverley are. Kelly deserved a place in the squad. He has some top class performances in the last season; against Chelsea, United, and this season against Arsenal. And Capello leaves him out and takes Jones and Cleverly; who I agree played well so far this season. But then again if they get the nod; so should Kelly.

And the funniest thing is after showing all their affection for Man Utd, FA still gets battered by Fergie.

Maybe they will get some joy from it and realise how important Liverpool are to England instead of treating us like s***. I am pleased for our players. They are outstanding.

Jack D.

But there's 1 positive we can take from Kelly's exclusion! he wont get injured! Alphared

look we dont whant bellamy how can ppl whant him kenny knows he is a trouble causer he wont cum

You don't want (no h) him but many of us think he'll do a good job. Did he cause trouble at City? At Cardiff? Yes, there was the golf-club incident but did he not then go on to play a big part - scoring one and setting up the winner - in a famous victory over Barcelona in Camp Nou?

Back to school soon?

Mr Benn

Mr benn your forgetting he set up risse for the second goal

Just like any lil brat, Bellamy does act up when he gets bored and has no purpose. Football at Anfield this year will not be boring and there will be plenty of ambition in his play. Take a look at Andy- he went from bar brawls to boyzone once KD got him motivated.

26 Aug 2011 13:41:29
who agrees that when suarez is playing maxi should be as well? maxi benifits sooo much from suarez and he's always looking to attack plus he knows when & where to be at the right time.

Ok so if maxi plays who misses out ?

Henderson wud miss out

People just keep chipping in with these jokes about Bellamy and golf ;)
Zac10

He is supposed be at melwood now...but he is delayed because he can't find his driver

Well putt !

Just putt them out of your mind

Ive heard LFC are worried he may fail his medical as he woke up this morning feeling under-par...

He's not there yet as its a long drive and he knows the distance to travel is just par for the course.
Carlos79

They've jus got to iron out the detalis

Does this make it bellamys 7th club.........lfc

A little birdie told me its a no goer, ill get my coates...
redlfc

Kenny set be authorative with Bellamy in telling him nightclubs are strictly out of bounds.

Can everyone stop with the jokes now the deal is still a fairway off being complete
James St ives

Why can't all these jokers putter sock in it - it's driving a wedge between us and getting rather tee dious now, i think i'll go and get a sand wedge before i get cart ed off

yours, Albat Ross

A birdie told me Bellamy would be joining and seemed tee'd off about it.

Just heard bellamy pulled up in his VW Golf, he said it was a dream to come back to this 'club', he just hopes its not riise on the end of it again..putt it like this id take him back nine but there is a few rough patches to sort yet with man city, lets just hope the deal is not out of bounds... red head

Aparently theres a fairway to go before bellamy signs, something to the do with the wedge he wants from city, a couple of issues to iron out and a long drive to melwood, but a little birdie putt it to me over tee and a sandwedge that it would happen soon!!

Danski

He has got his new kit already but through a fit as the socks were damaged THERE WAS A HOLE IN ONE!

Grub

Can I pitch in? I'm sure this is ill-eagle to caddy on like this, taking a swing at him for no reason.

This has given me a laugh on a slow Friday afternoon, beats the moaning, good work.

Craig clearly has a driving ambition to play for us. Id say his signing is a fore gone conclusion.

Who doesn't like a nice 18 holes of a weekend ?
The Real KB

Enough with the golf stuff now, i`m hearing Bellamy`s transfer is just a phone callaway, and he regards this move as the pinnacle of his career- hopefully the deal will be done before the last day of Augusta

Utd fans are running scared because they see the bogey-man at anfield

LFC will be a force to reckon with... you can bet your last greenback on it

Bellamy on a free after having to pay over odds for others

Apparently Sebastian Coates is at Melwood right now undergoing medical tests. Could be unveiled by the end of the day

Why would anyone wear a veil to their medical test?

26 Aug 2011 13:14:04
Someone just posted on Twitter that Athletico Madrid have bid for Coates. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Don't worry I am sure they wouldn't come to england to take his medical as Coates is in england at the moment. probably at Melwood, close to signing for the best club of the world. :)

I posted that this morning on this site not sure if it was posted though. They tried to put a late bid in to take him to Spain but he now wants to play at Liverpool with suarez considering forlan is about to leave atletico

26 Aug 2011 13:09:29
As a club we should of acted quickly to get the signature of Diego Forlan, He's going to Inter Milan for 4 Million! Imagine him and SUAREZ!!

Not a chance of the Manc s..m coming anywhere near Anfield lad

I hate forlan

That goal against the Mancs where he beat Jerzy at the near post always comes to mind when I hear his name. P*ssed off, not hate.

Bellamy didn't really get a fair shake in his season with us under Rafa. 2007 CL final he was on the bench when Dirk played up front on his own. Bolo and Pennant played that game with Stevie in the hole. If we replayed that game and played Dirk RM and Crouch and Bellers up top in place of the afore mentioned, I think we would have had a better shot. He's got bags of pace and is aggressive, winds up everyone, can play centrally or out left, is a workhorse and will drop deep and work for the team. He won't start for us every week but a great back up to Suarez and on a cold Feb night at the Britannica .........................................

Chi-Paul

P.S. KK needs a golf partner since Stevie is banned from playing golf during the season until he recovers from his Gilmore's groin

He is even aggresive with his team mates which is never a goog thing. plus he is to old and not good enough

Bellamy never disgraced himself with his performances when he was last at Liverpool.
He is better than N'gog , until the youth players are ready to step up. short term great signing.

Not good enough? what football do you watch....BELLAMY is far better than Maxi, kuyt and has blistering pace which nerves the best of defenders...he was citys player of the season the year before last and still has the attributes...and for free what more can you ask for! a proven world class player with hunger and passion for 3 points week in week out

Theres one thing for sure, with big andy, bellamy, suarez, for a front 3 no team better start a fight with them lol........lfc

Theres one thing for sure, with big andy, bellamy, suarez, for a front 3 no team better start a fight with them lol........lfc

Yeah i love Bellamy he's quality....not only his ability but if you watch him he literally NEVER shuts up. He's constantly in all the opposition's faces taking the mick, and generally gets some good banter going with the ref as well which never hurts...Duckula

Bellamy and Suarez's pace would be quite scary for any defender. 2 passionate players who want the footy like a seagull on a hot chip.

Drogba had the season of his life at 32. Lampard is starting every single game at 34. Surely Bellamy can do it still, and he will have something to prove to everybody. And we all know how Bellamy plays when his passion runs high.

Do the LFC "fans" who don't rate Carroll and Henderson applaud them when they play, boo them or stay silent?
Do these fans see them live and not just highlights on the TV?
Just asking...
Ultra Red

I don't rate Carroll or Henderson (I rate them, but not for what we paid) and I go to roughly 8 games per season. I go to the Derry club up the road from Anfield before every home game and we all cheer our team on. I never see anyone not singing to be honest. Despite what opinions are aired on here, we do have the best fans in the world when it comes to the games.

Oh what we could have bought with the Carroll and Henderson money - 55 million pounds ......... oh! ......... what a waste!

Like was asked yesterday, who would you have bought with the 51 M. Going by your post I'd say some nameless, bad at math and and at the wrong club. Jog on M8

Chi-Paul

Better signings then last season, and a better signing the you!!!!! Henderson will be Liverpools top player next season he is just nervous, and once Carroll finds his feet he will be Englands top striker.

This is at least the second time you've posted this. I'll ask you again, who could we realistically got for that money?

I wish everyone would get off hendersons back! He's not even a right midfielder so he's playing out of position and I think he's doing ok considering!

In fairness we could have got someone far better foor 35m in comparison to carroll....hopefully the lad gets better but im sure everyone saw the donkey touches against minnows exeter...35m could have bagged us a variety of world class but have faith in Andy, hopefully he will start to deliver.

Who cares, at least we have money to waste!

Anyone see the latest round of bithing and moaning coming from Red Nose this morning?

Apparently, no club in the WORLD has provided more players for their country, and they are always receiving severe punichments from the FA who dont realise how important Spam are to the country!!

Would the King ever give a press conference like that? No..... he's humble and class and if he wanted to have a pop he would disguise it within his humour.

Take a look at the story on the BBC sports page from top to bottom. Never has an article summed up the sheer arrogance and contempt for their peers that this one does.

After Coates signs, i still feel were missing one more player in order to have a great season. Someone who can play on the wing and up front, pacey and strong...we need hulk.

Another team supposedly bid for Hulk over the summer but got turned down. That bid was supposedly 80 mil euro. His agent confirmed this. Crazy money if true.

LFC 1892

Do you mean Bellamy, he can play as a winger as well as striker. :)
I hope, there is another striker in.

26 Aug 2011 12:19:19
I hope Bellamy wont be another one of those free agent signings we seem to bring in each year, who is over 30 and will end up just taking our wages and not performing consistently enough (voronin, jovanovic, cole). But aslong as he gives it his all i'll be happy.

E.H LFC

I will be happy if he simply behaves himself and gets on with his game - hes a good player who can terrorise defences but needs to keep his head - dont want anyone causing problems in the dressing room

Bellamy isnt a wage merchant, he jus wants the chance to play

And bellamy is far better than those prev mentioned! FAR BETTER

26 Aug 2011 12:16:41
Hi Eds - I know we have done this one to deathg, but have heard Cahill ahs a preference for Liverpool - apparently impressed with the way LFC are moving forward and wants to be a part of the good times - do you think with the immenet capture of Coates, Cahill could be realistic too?

Cheers

26 Aug 2011 12:04:24
i want to support carroll but i cant. he stays up front, dont chase the ball enough and doesnt jump 4 headers. his movement aint much better.

You clearly have no idea about what makes a player good or not. Also, more than likely just a wind-up person from another board.

Ye - dont worry hes on the wrong page - get someone to show you how to scroll down to the m`s - you will find your team there

Are you stupid? Did you see the goal he scored against exeter?
Do you watch football?

Carroll chases a hell of alot for his type of striker ovbiously not as much as luis but thts the type of forward he is a busy hardworker carroll is a target man how much running does crouch do ....... my point proven

You have to fully support anyone in a red shirt, however, u also need to be realistic...at 10-15m yeh maybe id accept carroll but 35m...worrying. Great goal against exeter but that was after about 20 shambolic donkey touches, pre season is outve the way, he shud b firing on all cylinders instead of licking back the pints.

Did you pay that 35 mills out of your pocket...?
Please stop bitching about Carroll's fee...!!

One thing he cannot be said guilty of is not jumping for headers.

People have been posting a few rumours of goats being washed or otherwise. I would like to clear this up as I have it on good authority (from LFC's vetinary dept) that a goat from South America is flying in for a medical this weekend, also a Welsh mountain goat will also be checking in for tests later next week. It's a little known fact that where Hollywood starlets have a prefernce for miniature dogs, football players have always been keen goat fanciers.

It was reported on here previously that Steven Gerrard has been washing his goat, and it's true that he takes special care of his goat since it has had starring roles in many films and TV shows and is almost as famous as he is having starred in The Men who Stare at Goats and also had cameos in Babe and Charlotte's Web, he was most recently seen in O2's recent TV advertising of a half man/half goat, only his hind was used as they super imposed an actor for the top half.

Anfield also uses goats to maintain the pitch and also produces it's own cheese which is rather delicious when made into a cheese and red onion tart.

Rafa likes goats on his chin too!!

Hey guy's there is gonna be some news on craig bellamy on monday! and Coates around 6pm. We will sell David Ngog on monday after the bellamy deal and we will sign one other player if joe cole leaves!

No one wants Joe Cole.

I agree bellamy would be a great addition to the squad, but is he not on £90,000+ a week, surly he would have to take a significant pay cut for LFC to sign him?
kevc

Ye - cut his wage in half and if he says no leave him at city -

I like Joe Cole and hope he stays

ed what is the very latest on coates???
bellamy back, maxi gave up number 17 and what number was bellamy when he was playing??? interisting init {Ed002's Note - There is nothing new on Coates - he is due to have a medical and to start on paperwork if everyone is happy. It will not change minute by minute.

Come Taxi Drivers out there – surly one of you must have picked up Coates from John Lennon by now!!!!!

He'll be on his goat

i would much prefer bellamy as a winger serving Carroll and (espicially Suarez) than Kuyt. I hope/presume that kenny is using Kuyt as a back up striker in the hope of getting rid of Ngog. I still have faint hope that Kenny will sign some sort of playmaker during the next week( I hear Gago is available, as is my oul favourite Ryad Boubebouz) I know the team will look a lot more impressive with gerrard back, but i wonder about adam, maybe its takling him time to settle. Never been as excited about a season in maybe 15 years!

hey eds....
i just want to tell the other fans to give andy carroll a break....he has scored just as many goals as suarez

Andy Carroll-appearances 16(6 friendlies,1 cup)-goals 6 assists-1
Luis Suarez-appearances 16(1 cup)-goal-7 assists 5

Please post so that everyone can see

Luis Suarez does more than just score goals and provide assists:
He lifts his team mates the fans the management with his enthusiasm and
skill and boundless energy. Wouldn't swap or compare him to anyone! He's a real Gem of a Player.
kidmillions

Carroll actully has scored in every game as suarez but the 2 in the pl were disallowed, if they stood people wouldn't be slating him now. his good to have in the team as defenders hate playing against him and as shown in arsenal, they concertriated so much on carroll once suarez was on they were confused to even know what side they were playing for

Hello eds just a question are we getting Craig Bellamy?? Great site {Ed002's Note - Please read the other posts.}

26 Aug 2011 10:46:49
Bellamy, loads of pace, loads of aggression, loads of experience, LOADS OF BOTHER!!!!!! DO NOT BUY!!!!!!

Bellamy for us can be just like Owen for Utd. An option available. he's less injury prone and a decent enough player, even at 32. Why we are so concerned. Kenny knows, what he is doing. And If he is bringing Bellamy back, I'd be happy with that. But I hope, we are getting a striker as Carroll hasn't shown any quality, so far. We need Suarez all the time for goals, hope, it'd change and Carroll shows his quality, too.

26 Aug 2011 10:45:57
Hi Eds, you had said liverpool will be getting one of Dann, Cahill and Mertesacker.
What do you think has worked in favor of Coates over Dann and Cahill? {Ed002's Note - Certainly the price and his availability.}

Coates is younger. I hope, he'll be a star in BPL. welcome to Anfield, Coates. YNWA

As Ed002 said the price and the poster above me said his age! but has anyone looked at the success and award's he's won at club and international level at such a young age! it is unbelieveable! so i think it was'nt just his age or his price i think it's because we're getting an exceptional footballer! and it will keep Luis happy! now that could be the best reason! I would welcome Bellamy back with open arms. I don't know what hes like off the pitch, only what we've all been told by the tabloids, but on it he's a winner. The moaning and chopsing he does on the field is born from wanting to win, and accepting nothing less than 100% from those around him, in the same way Carragher has a go.
He's not going to be in our best 11, but it can't be bad to have Defenders smashed to bits and run ragged by LS and AC, then to bring Bellamy on can it.
With Cotaes seemingly in the bag, this squad is shaping up superbly, and the strength in the depth we now have is awesome!

Tommy Walsh

I like the cut if your jib Mr Walsh !
But, yes, he would improve the squad and the options. Him and Coatsy in would be fandabidozie, anyone else over that and I'll float in to work next week.

cozinov,as usual a good post mate. Just glad to see that you called Roy Hodgson Roy and not taking the piss out of his silent w's. Was a square peg in a round hole re him managing us, but their aint many managers who wouldn't leave Fulham for us. He had a pretty good C.V before and although i belive we,as fans should look forward to this season and not dwell on the first half of last,Roy's gone, all the best but West Brom is much more of a fit then Liverpool . Good point though mate. Jonson6

Hey Ed, couple of things.

Firstly is there any actual proof that Liverpool are interested in Bellamy?

And secondly what has Macca said recently? Can never find his rumours....

{Ed002's Note - There is speculation about Bellamy certainly. In terms of proof, I don't know. Try searching on Macca.}

26 Aug 2011 10:16:28
Hi eds,

Quick question. If we are to sign bellamy will he still get his 90k a week wages? Free transfers always come with inflated wages and I think it would be stupid to swap a 22 year old on 30k a week for a 31 year old on 90k a week.

Also I know your ads are provided by adsense but im a 28 year old male model and can promise I have never searched for senior dating group ha ha ha

The Model {Ed002's Note - I am not sure what the provisions of any contract for Bellamy would be, but if it were a permanent transfer and a a free transfer he would be looking for a signing on fee (as per Cole, Jovanovic etc.} and that would likely be spread across the term of the contract. As for the senior dating, it is Adsense figuring out that at 28 your career as a model is coming to an end and all the muscle will turn to fat as you lose your hair. Senior dating may be the only option available to you.}

Bellamy brings experience which we will need later on

Haha love it ed002.

I've noticed a few (mainly unsigned) complaining ghouls moaning and crying about 'abusive' posts etc....it's the banter section of the site! The banter of LFC fans is infamous, and it's one of the things I personally love about this site. It's great when you spot an obvious imbecile and shake your head, then realise that you can point out the error of the poor demented fools ways. The various creeping vines from other clubs who slide in with slabbery notes are also worth a reply, as long as they are signed. It's also good when someone has a go back at you , especially if it's legible & funny.
So, you big girls blouses who cry because jonson6 shows passion, because Blair makes you look daft, or because the knowledgeable true LFC fanbase mocks your petty attempts to gripe: GET A GRIP, support your team, and let battle commence...

People are a bit skeptical about Bellamy, If we get Bellamy and Carroll we would have fighters in the team you need that against the physical sides, Bellamy would add pace and hunger personally i would rather have him on the right wing then Henderson or Kuyt.

the goods and bad of bellamy joining lfc

the good points are
-his on a free transfer
-his taking a big pay deduction
-his a boy hood liverpool fan
-and when fit he actully is very good
-he knows the area and players to adapt quickly
-willing to be on the bench

the bad points are
-his temper and attitude problems
-his not a new face to the club, so the excitement of a return dies down
-played in the championship last season

i personally think he would be a good back up striker to have

Tonkz

You rite in what you say Tonkz , but although bellamy does have a slight attitude problem he must surely know that this is his last chance at a big club.
He messes this up its bottom of the league teams or championship football.

Lavers i also agree with you, but he has to much to risk now. which would put pressure on him to show up on the pitch when his time is right

coates and bellamy coming in will make the current squad the best one we have had in recent years. Even if bellamy deal falls through due to finance issues, the squad still looks good enough to put up a challenge for a CL spot.

I agree with many of the posters here, in that we shouldnt pay too much heed to the financial aspect of transfers. The dealings are technical and convulted. Once a player's been signed he's ours for all intents and purposes and deserves the support of all fans.

I have been a fan for more than 20 years, and even though i dont hail from the great city of liverpool I never miss a match on the tube, and the atmosphere and unwavering support from the Kop and fans was a major factor in getting me hooked all those years ago, sadly this attitude seems to have evaporated. even watching it on the telly, i could feel the lack of enthusiasm towards the team, and this in the 2nd half of our first PL match. what gives? I envy you guys born in Liverpool, you get to follow our team from close quarters, and get to play a part in our games. The team needs you, fans from around the globe need you. Please bring back the great unconditional support, we all need it.

26 Aug 2011 10:01:37
Have to admit I was unsure when we signed Charlie Adam, I wernt convinced he was of the required standard despite some good performances for Blackpool but Ive yet to see him have a bad game for us and to me it looks like he's been playing for us for years, he just fits. Same goes for Downing as well they just suit Liverpool and Im made up they're in our team.

Give the lad some time, why can't we all just say that we give our support to the players and manager regardless of who is picked, even if we don't agree. We are liverpool f.c and we pride ourselves at being the best supporters in the world. Y.N.W.A is one of our sayins why dont people do it instead of picking people out for abuse. there is no need to say this person isnt good enough or that person is crap. if the manager has picked tthem and there in the liverpool team then thats good enough for me, they will have my support and the will never walk alone.

Not even going to put up an argument, you haven't even signed your post...

Fowler's left peg

I think they can all work with time... it would be good just to have 4 completely different strikers... kuyt, bellamy, saurez and carroll.

Utter drivel

Give it time to gel, it does not happen overnight. Carrol land Suarez could be absalutly lethal in my opinion, Carroll is like a big magnet which leaves space for Suarez to work his magic

I wouldnt worry too much about our Forward partnerships...its early days and Dalglish still tinkering.

An attacking 4-3-3/4-5-1 is a work in progress for nailing home games. Carroll will start to fit and fire once things settle down...

An interesting fact from LFC website: Liverpool's goal difference is currently +2. Last season they had to wait until February 2 for it to be two goals in credit for the first time.
It really was dire under Roy.

cozinoz

To be fair to Roy he came at totally the wrong time, we had two woeful owners who had totally divided the whole club. Yes he did buy some planks but, the dressing room was totally depressed and I bet the amount of money available to him was minimal considering the changes he wanted to make.

I do however agree we have come a long way in a year, I am also excited about this season. No matter what other people say I am over the moon with all our signings. I also don't blame Roy (I quite like him) it was those T-Pots with funny hats I blame.
K79

Good point, we seem to have forgotten the mess H&G caused, we shoudl all be thankful for where the club is heading now

Roy's a good guy. It was as though he had no support from anyone at the club (possibly even the dressing room). It was never going to work. When he bought Konchesky I was a little disappointed but never would have guessed at how bad he was actually going to be. Poulsen I actually thought might have been a bargain buy, he's got good pedigree, but thats went t#ts too.

Roy Hodgson knew he was gonna be a stop gap till the club was sold! he knew Kenny was after the job but H&G would not entertain the idea! after the club was sold to NESV our 1st game was against Everton! after we got beat Hodgson came out and said that was near on our best performance to date! to everyone's disbelief! he wanted to get sacked then! If we get Bellamy this will be genius by Kenny, a player who has, prem experience, loads of pace, loads of aggression, knows were the goal is, can also operate on the left wing at a push, no fee, and already knows the Liverpool way. a bit older than we'd like but for free, whats not to like.

Hi Ed
Just wana say that Liverpool will finish in top 4 this season cos
Man city good players but all play 4money not 4 team.
chelsea looks good but not up to the mark.
arsenal things r getting worse 4them.
Spurs- not a good team n if they lose modrich they will be way down in the table.
Scums- weaker than last few years.

Liverpool-looks good ,all other main teams rival 4 cl spot seems struggling. So a 99%chance of us in cl next year.
N if we get into cl then I c the next summer transfer a very big n good one.
We have max. Players who have never played in cl so ambitions r high n I c PFC in cl for sure.
Cl nights r back next year.

Liverpool 3. Bolton 1
Red is in my blood

Well I hope that while you are waiting for your return to the CL,that you will show some humility, and cheer on all the other English club playing in European tournaments this season.

I disagree, if we get top 4 I don't expect us to go out and buy. I think KK has faith in the squad and won't sign as many as this year. He'd only sign to replace anyone or develop the youth at our club

Coates' rise to fame came in the summer of 2011 when his performances at the Copa America for Uruguay set Europe's elite - and most notably Liverpool - on his trail.

As a youth player he joined Montevideo side Club Nacional in 2004 and made his professional debut in 2009, winning the title in his first full season. But the 6' 6'' defender had already begun to make waves in the game and was a youth international with his country before he had even made a start for his club.

Quickly showing off his balance, speed and technique he played at the 2009 South American Youth Championships and the Under-20 World Cup and almost made the cut for the 2010 World Cup, although was left behind.

Illness to Diego Godin handed him his chance at the 2011 Copa America after winning another Uruguayan title and Liverpool made their move to bring him in with a week remaining in the transfer window.

Strengths: Height is obviously a key attribute and his aerial ability matches his frame. A decent ball player, he also has strength in abundance.

Weaknesses: Concentration and positional awareness can be worked on, but there are few holes in his game. Although a strong player, it is also said he must learn to use this more wisely.

Career high: The 2011 Copa America tournament saw Coates arrive on the international scene, winning the trophy and being named the Best Young Player.

Career low: Left out of the Uruguay's 2010 World Cup squad due to his lack of experience.
Style: Tall, elegant, commanding, a deceptively quick defender.
Quotes: "It's a club with a lot of tradition and history in English football, and the fact that Luis [Suarez] is there is a great help for me,'' Coates talks about his move to Liverpool, August 2011.

Above is something I found on the tinternet.
Sorry bout the c+p

We've reliably learnt of plans to bring in/back Bellamy.
Reactions to this have been unsurprisingly mixed.

Personally, I welcome this news. Bellamy makes sense in more ways than one.
He's a (a) proven, very capable forward with the game intelligence, pace, power and versatility to thrive in Kenny's teams; (b) he'd be happy and willing to play the back up role we've earmarked him for; (c) has love, passion, desire and fight for the jersey and would thru brick walls for the team, and (d) he'll be here for about two years, three at the most.

(d) is particularly important in light of Adam Morgan.
He's a hugely promising kid, so the last thing KD&DC want is to impede his progress to the first team.

Bringing in a young forward would do just that.
I imagine that it would be interpreted as a lack of faith in the kid, and correctly so.

KD&DC appear to agree with me as well. We need a stop gap (till Morgo's ready) and Bellamy is it, a willing and capable one.
He's proven and very much wants to be at LFC. That's enough for me. I want Bellamy and will keep my fingers crossed that he comes.

Another issue I've noted with a keen interest is that of Benayoun.
I been saying for long now that, bar Suarez, this team lacks a genuine, creative outlet of cutting edge skill, ingenuity and unpredictability.

The fact that we've looked at Yossi is an indication that we're looking for such a player.
I've also heard we watched Marvin Martin, a terrific attacking mid.

Liverpool cannot afford to solely rely on Suarez as a (genuine) game-changer.
We don't need such a perilous situation and Luis just doesn't need that pressure.

A player like Martin will relieve that pressure; he'd inject pace, skill, invention and super mobility to our midfield.
It's probably never going to happen, but I'd be daddy fooken thrilled if we got this lad.

Sebastian Coates, Marvin Martin and Craig Bellamy would be one immense way to close the window.

Burmeister {Ed002's Note -

Now, this is a shocker and surely one of the 4 signs of the apocalypse but...Burmeister, I agree with you! The Gooners have been banging on for ages about marvellous marvin.

Good post, I agree with all of it unbelievably! haha

Not really a rumour or banter but i feel that it is about time that someone spoke up about the Andy Carroll deal. When Chelsea activated the buy out figure of 50m for Torres, the deal was that it had to be paid in one payment, no installments. At that time, having just been taken over by the new owners our transfer trading and wages account was almost 7m in the negative. In effect the club was then 43m in the black. With the end of the transfer window only hours away and 43m in profit on this account we would have been left with a hefty tax bill at the end of the financial year ( around 24m) if we didnt spend it before the end of the tax year. When Spurs offered 30m for Carroll and it was accepted we then asked how much could we have him for and were told 35m. Time was running short and the deal was done. if you look at it logically, as was told to me by my accountant the effective fee was only 11m. We would have had to pay almost 24m to the tax man if we didnt spend the Torres money so it was a brilliant deal for Liverpool and Newcastle. the only losers were the inland revenue. So lets all stop the carping on about Carroll being a 35m player. Everyone should realise that, at that time we were almost pushed into the deal because of the time frame involved but almost 24m was actually tax avoidance (legal) . This was all explained to me when i visited my accountant, who is also a Liverpool season ticket holder and has a little knowledge of tax an financial issues as you can imagine. Just getting fed up with listening to soccer pundits who keep refering to Andy not being worth 35m. cheers Robbie {Ed002's Note - I am sorry but none of this is true. Liverpool's accounts covering January have not been published by they will show a significant loss not a profit when they are. You do not pay corporate taxes based on individual transactions.}

Ed002,it's a shame its not true,we could have asked for a rebate on Carrol.

The eds right i own a company and its totally different, if they sold Torres they could have put in in their pockets but they spent it, it would have gone in to the club accounts as a single transaction.

This is total tosh. Liverpool told Chelsea that the price for Torres would be dependent on the fee Newcastle wanted for Carroll plus £15m. Newcastle chanced their arm and said they wanted £35m. Its really as simple as that. This was even explained by either Dalglish or Commolli not long after the deals went through.

Red Heart

WOW! We brought Andy Carroll to avoid tax... . We brought Andy Carroll because we wanted the best young British Number 9 around.

I also had no idea Tottenham bid £30m for Carroll, but if that bid was accepted, why would we ask how much it would cost to get him? Clearly his price was £30m, so would make no sense to offer £5m more. Carroll could still have gone to Tottenham, as there bid was accepted.

I don't know much about accounting, so I won't go into that, but I know as the ed says you're not charged per transaction.

RedSG

I thought Newcastle turned down 30m for Carroll from us and Spurs.

Hi Ed..First great Works for this Site.
Sebasian Coates have completed a move to melowwd and Medicals will be done today..
Second Ed how do you rate bellamy???
I think he is proven in PL..the best part in him is his speed...thats lightning..something we misses in Kuyt??
Suarez, Carrol and Bellamy...would tear the Defence???

Ed also Can we smell any more signing???

{Ed002's Note - I am rather surprised that Bellamy seems to be returning.}

Bellamy was rubbish when we had him and as far as I'm concerned he hasn't got any better.
I hop we don't get him!

Bellamy was far from rubbish pal, he was citys best player the season before they loaned him out, we need pace, he has it in abundance

Get real, Dann will not improve our team, he is average like Carroll and Henderson and Adam. Dont waste your money AGAIN kk. And it will be a real backward step if we sign Bellamy cos he is a bad influence.

With respect Shane, Celtic & Rangers belong somewhere else than that mate. They're both giants, comparable to Lpool, U*d, Arsenal, no danger.
The Real KB

I am sorry The Real KB mate, but Celtic and Rangers have had fairly piss poor record in Europe the last couple of season and are not the powerhouses they used to be.

What makes this result even remarkable, is that unlike Celtic or Rangers, Rovers have rebuilt the club from scratch, the fans have a stake in club and they have spent vitually nothing. When u compare budgets of Rovers and so called Scottish super clubs, you truely appreciate this result.

Rovers were unlucky to loose to FC Copenhagen in Champions league qualifiers. Here's hoping my local team Cork City, can get back in top flight and start challenging Rovers , just like they used to.

Irish football is looking on the up both nationally and internationally

Rebel_Red

Well said Rebel_Red. It has to be put in context. Shamrock Rovers were nearly relegated just a few short seasons ago. Since then they have a new stadium, run by the fans and have stormed up the league and now into the Group stages in europe. Whats more is that this is done with a minimal budget. I for one will be cheering them on all the way.

MartyPool (Another Cork City Fan)

Morning chaps
I wasn't denegrating Shamrock at all, fair play to them there.
But, c'mon, Celtic & Rangers are both giants of the game. The big clubs were made big clubs by the people, the punters who went to see them. And the Old Firm still has, indeed around the world following. It's a sad situation when they're both stuck in what's become a backwater league with virtually no money coming in. Sky TV or Stock Market Investors / Sheiks / Russian Ogliagarchs doesn't make a big club. They make it wealthy. But the fans make it big. That and over 100 years of that following.

26 Aug 2011 08:38:40
Sounds like Bellamy's situation is similar to Doni, where as he'll receive a bumper pay off and then join a club with realistic wage demands. I haven't followed Craig for a while so don't know if he's over some of his serious injury concerns, however if he is then it could be a shrewd piece of business. He doesn't appear to have lost any pace, he is a talented finisher and does run the channels exceptionally well.

The main concern is that attitude, however I remember those concerns with Suarez before he joined but he seems to have left them back at Ajax. I think a little feistiness on the pitch can be a good thing and perhaps he'll teach Andy how to find his aggression.

Overall yes it's a risk but Bellamy does guarantee some goals, experience and a hell of a lot of pace.

Backward step if we sign Bellamy. He is a bad influence in the dressing room thats why he has had so many clubs. DO NOT BRING HIM IN KK.

Eds, just an idea as I know you have considered registering posters before now. If you were to do it and each poster had their club flag by their name, it might help sort out who are actually fans moaning and who are from other teams stirring things up. We could still go onto other clubs' pages and banter but at least it would be transparent which colours we wear?
Like I said, just a thought but there seems to be a hell of a lot of bickering on banter pages - certainly on the LFC page after being stirred up by non-LFC fans.

Wages 85K eack week 4 year deal.

He wanted to go to Italy after his 1st seasoon ..it was not ROY to through him out ..it was him asking for it..
Juventus paid Liverpool 2M for loan..with option to buy for 13M Euros.
They did not take the option.
He had to come back and said to the Press he wants to stay (Bullocks)

Frioentina wanted to take him on loan and buy for 6M Euros..He declined (Less wages)...

Milano (apparently his best club in world) took him on loan
1) pay us 6M Euros over 2 years .if he gets 25 games.. Obligation not option.
2) He gets 1M payoff kinda from Liverpool
3) ROma gets 300k next June..

So if he does not clock up 25 games ..injury whatever AC MILANO may not take him ..

--So he always wanted to go ..but on his terms his wages and a pay-off...

Eds your comment am i wrong on right anywhere here?

--Bhavesh (Indian) {Ed002's Note - Most of it is correct. The loan fee from Juventus actually went to supplement wages so that is balanced out and the payments for teh original transfer were not all 5M euro, but teh total is the same.}

Happy to see Bellamy comig.. He surely provides some pace and ruthlessness in attack... Very good squad now... I believe we have better squad than even Chelsea... Man City i don't care about Mancini is a defensive moron.. Only major rival we have is Man Utd... If King does the magic again then whats a SIR gonna do against a KING....?

It's funny, during pre-season we conceded 15 goals in 5 games n had a lot of complaints now our start to the season has gone well getting 4 points from 6 an progression in the carling cup conceding 2 goals, we still find SOME fans need something to have a moan at this time bein Carroll,
I mean come off it, look how much we have progressed from last year, some great signings and we have a great manager and backroom staff now it's just time for us to have patience to let our team gel and for tha to happen we need everyone to get behind the team an not turn against them :) cooooome on the reds !!!

KK and Dc are interested in Henri Belle who is a striker at NK Istra. He is 22, strong and powerful. HOWEVER, they do not se him as a striker but as a CB in much the same way as Carra went from striker to CB. THis would be ideal as we would then have a new centre back pairing of Belle and Sebastion.......that would be the dogs bo**ocks!
Iggypop

Carra was midfield
In his debut v Aston villa if I recall

Carra was a midfielder and then an awful right back, till he was put alongside big Sammi as the covering defender and found his position.

Carra was a striker in his youth.

Do any of the eds know how close the bellamy deal really is?

Thankyou {Ed002's Note - Nope.}

Hi eds
Skirtle is very suspect at the CB He and the Greek gave away to many penalties or free kicks around the penalty box. It would make sense to sell skirtle and get another CB like Cahill or Dann. We should have much improved backline ie Carra Agger Coates Cahill/Dann
Great site thanks for keeping the LFC fans around the world inform

Mouloda is being linked to Juve. We should throw a number at him or Sturridge. Both would be great backup strikers.

The Real KB, it got me thinking, booking's were hard to come by then, you could get away with murder to be honest. And that the sending off was for telling ref to do one if you know what i mean after i'd been given Paul McKenna of Hull City i think now, some serious stick for missing a pen while playing against City. I'd earlier missed a chance Dianna Ross would've scored and he said at least i dont miss open nets. The ref had already told me to calm down and i told him to do one if you get what i mean.Soon as he pulled the red out it must've taken me forever to walk off knowing that it was a cardinal sin to get booked for mouthing it at refs never mind a straight red, especially for a youth team player. It wasn't a pretty site on my part in the changing room after the game and i never seen red for PNE again. However my after my release i didn't play again for about a year, then i signed for Mosley, played 5 times before getting sent off at Vauxhall for an elbow on their captain. 15 game ban was a bit harsh when personally i thought that they could've looked at he might've wanted some dental work angle, but alas the powers that be didn't see it that way. And that was me done with footy for a couple of years. Got blagged to play for a team in the West Lancs called Fulwood Ameturs(Spelling)who have been trying for years to try and get none league status but the stands or stand aint upto scratch. And got sent off after a guy elbowed me so i blasted ball over the stand and got changed and did one. Sounds childish but all i did was go up for a header,i thought if they wanna waste my time i'll waste theirs, especially me being there when liverpool were playin. Then my last come back was again blighted by a sending off for the same team. Playing some big lads from Cumbria i was backing in and the centre back and the guy just hooked me from behind. Lets just say it wasn't me led on the deck with his top pulled over his head. His centre half mate got a slap as well. I fully expected to be nailed by the rest of the team but i had a mate their who was on the pitch in seconds. Didn't even bother to find out how long i'd be banned for that but a year or 2 probably. I know it sounds like and was outrageous behaviour but i'll admit mental health and i were having a more then a shaky friendship at the time. Got my s**t together, sought and got the right help and lifes grand, playing Sunday league with my mates,2 bookings in 3 seasons no red cards. But as an apprentice and pro, just the one red. Anyhow thats it re me playin footy, its a Liverpool FC banter page after all. Oh i did see a certain manager when i was at North End, that manages a team not too far from us,who is also a scotsman get his asse kicked off a fellow Scot during a keep ball session ha ha, fact. evertime henderson or carroll do one thing bad in a match, on here they get slaughtered but if suarez done something bad theyll jump to his defence.

red fanatic

Carroll knocked in 13 goals in half a season for nfc before geting injured and transfering, was heading for leading goal scorer imo. like every carroll fan says he is there to do a job and that might not be scoring goals, he is only 22 and hendo 21. the future is bright, pull your head in and support the club and its players.

All this below is what i hope from a lot of promise I see already this season.

Coates, Bellemy - nail
outs - Aqua, Poulson, Cole, Insua, Ngog & skertl =12m

In A. Johnson - 17 to 19
Dann - 7m
Then either Huguain or Erikson for 19-26m but not neccessarily now, jan for tile push or eoy.

Real team emerging

Im sure; Aqua, Poulson, Cole, Insua, Ngog would fect that 12m on their own, skrtel wouldnt be sold on a cheap.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion like it or not,i should know,i get enough s**t for expressing it.Its called banter for a reason although just ignore the negative posts, most are from Manc fans anyway trying and working to wind LFC fans up. Theirs some fans who post who dont have an e mail address like me and i'm sure a few others besides. Jonson6

Not Liverpool banter per se, but wanted to let the world know that Man City and Chelsea both make me sick. There doesn't need to be any rhyme or reason for their purchases, just buy every star player available (that Barca and Madrid don't want...). Can't see how we can win the league competing against billionaire allstar teams. City could produce a second string of players that would still compete for top 4. My only consolation is that Torres has been a flop for Chelsea. Lets hope Mata is the same.

The saving grace, however, is that the best 11 players in the world do not necessarily make a successful team (remember the Galacticos). There are plenty of other attributes needed to win games (team spirit, good management, tactics, support and encouragement, etc, etc). Plus, a team of expensive mercenaries are unlikely to be busting a gut when they are 2-0 down with 5 mins to go in the same way that a club loyalist like Carra and SG would. I don't see Man City having the staying power this year despite their purchases (5th or 6th for me) - I'd be more worried about Chelski who will be well-managed and less disrupted.

cozinoz

I would take our team with King Kenny at the lealm anyday over City's team (if you can call them that) of indiviudal star players that are only intersted in earning 200 K per week.
As for Chelski... Mr Abrhamovich will probably sack AVB at the end of the season if he has not done the treble...
Paul Mc

We're building a team that will fight for the badge and each other, look what you get otherwise, a team of mercenaries whose heads will be turned by the promise of riches elsewhere, they are playing for themselves and a lucrative transfer, they'll never settle hence Man City keep having to buy so many players each year and give the others away. They can afford to spend hundreds of millions every couple of years, though with ever changing players it's the fans subsidising it having to buy new shirts all the time as that player left. I would rather a team I was proud of with some passion.

Aquilani gone. Thank god. Now we can focus on what we have. When Stevie gets back this will make for strong midfield with Adam and Lucas. I think we still need another forward, not necessarily a striker, but someone with pace and skill. Lavezzi would be dream come true. Benayoun wouldn't be too shabby either.

I agree. i wld love to see shaqiri maybe take up such a position.

Back in the 70's I can remember the slagging off, of a certain midfielder named G. Souness in his first 3 months at the club. I also recall the unmerciful criticism of one of the most successful players in the history of the game throughout his career,(couldn't tackle apparently) a certain Phil Neal. Add to that others who we all now revere such as Craig Johnstone, Jan Molby(too fat,too slow) and even our double European cup scorer Alan Kennedy, please don't be surprised by a vocal minority of fans who will always criticise our players. Don't think that this is a new phenomenon, it is simply that the the Internet gives these very same people an extended voice from what used to be just a Saturday afternoon. I think we will do great this season, and we may even win something, but I for one am loving what's going on. Thank you

I am fascinated by this post, and I feel that it carries an extremely poignant moral for all those who consider themselves supporters of Liverpool Football Club.

Red Owl

Exactly mate, it has always gone on. I can remember Barry Venison taking some awful stick. Brucie Grobelaar got it in the neck as well. Loads more. It's just in the nature of football fans everywhere. We shouldn't get too wound up on here about it, though it does get a bit repetitive. But it's the Mancs that sneak on and stir it, that get's me.
The Real KB

You forgot to mention Ronnie Whelan who took loads of stick. Lucas reminds me of Ronnie in many ways and will be a legend just like him :)

Couldnt agree more, confussed how anyone could disagree with this!top post.
deano mcc

Thank you for your support. I could go back further, with the likes of Cally getting stick during his transition from right winger to centre mid after a bad, in those days, cartilage op. Alun Evans(hatrick against the best team in Europe at the time, Bayern Munich), another victim of the moaners. Some players deserve our criticism due to their attitude, Diouf anyone?, but we should never criticise a player who has been signed by our management, and who does their best, just because they aren't the best players that we have ever seen. They do get moved on eventually, albeit in this day and age, for outlandish rewards. leighT

Spot on mate :) well said!!

You should have signed this mate...so we can revere your wisdom when you are proved right.
Iggypop
PS I remember those players and more too!

Some fans feel that transfer and players gelling into team happens like the simulated games they play.. If u change your home you feel uneasy and can't sleep for few days as you are not used the place.. Now imagine these players left everything to come and play for our club, the least we can do is give them our wholehearted support and cheer at top of our voices when they come out of the tunnel... The posters slating our players here should be more considerate of criticizing our players so idiotically and without making any sense....

Musicnation

He won't get 20 in the league and he almost certainly won't stay fit. He reminds me of Duncan Ferguson; on top form and when fit unplayable - unfortunately neither scenario is likely on a consistent basis.

I'm not criticising lucas but please don't insult ronnie whelan, there's no comparison.
paul

Very well said mate . i posted on here, also on rumours, saying we should back our players ,sing snd chant, blow them along on our dreams! godbless 96 and all reds steviep48

I too can remember those times. The number of arguments that went on between our fans over Ronnie Whelan but when he was not in the team those same people were saying how much Whelan was missed. Heard them all before and, unfortunately you will never stop fans criticising certain players. One time when Kenny was going through a bad patch (yes, even Kenny) a few fans were saying that he was crap and he should be dropped. This particular comment was laughed at and those fans were ridiculed forever untill they moved to a different spot in the Kop. It will never stop so just laugh at them. Robbie

Totally Agree. Jamie Carragher used to get horrendous stick from the Kemlyn Road stand when he first got in the team at right back.

Am I the only one that would really prefer it if Craig 'Golf Club' Bellamy would stay away from LFC for good? Why are we interested in him? It's like going for Joey Barton. 'He's a quality player'...true...sometimes, but he brings a bad name to his club. They're both disgraces to football and I don't want to watch Bellamy cause unrest by falling out with Dalglish and half the players wearing red. {Ed011's Note - KK is probably interested in Craig Bellamy because he can get him on a free and because Liverpool could do with a backup striker}

Probably not, but I bow to the superior knowledge that you of football over Kenny Dalglish

And also because bellamy has got the utmost respect for KK. only golf clubs they use will be on Birkdale :)
