right my opinion on the game,

Reina, - nothing to do, no chance on the goal.
Johnson - Class act, needs to learn to cross though.
Skrtel - No problems class act.
Agger - See above.
Enrique - most underated player in the premiership, excellent.
Henderson - Needs time, not in game much today.
Adam - Crap, had an off day.
Downing - Scared to have a go, has a mental block.
Maxi - drifted in and out.
Suarez - So talented its scarey, but can't finish, need to speak to Rushie.
Carroll - No service, I feel so sorry for the lad, had one clear cut chance and keeper made an amazing save.

Subs - Gerrard - As though he hadn't been away.
Bellamy - massive handfull as usual.

We are soooo close its so frustrating. We're ok, if somebody had offered a semi-final and 3 points off 4th at start of season we would have snatched their hand off.

Sooty

Carroll no service ? Samba was ahead of him every single b**tard time, the crosses where good, carrolls positioning was s**te!

I was at the game today and it struck me that we might not even need any additional players, at least through Kenny's eyes. We have an abundance of wingers: Bellamy, Downing, Kuyt and Maxi. As with strikers I can't see Carroll not playing when Suarez is banned, and if our appeal is successful, Luis will only be out for 4 games. We could also play Kuyt up front. Stevie is back and he is the perfect creative midfielder. Do you think we will buy someone?

No we dont need any players where running wild in the league just battering teams, we have the best players in the world

Yh we hav quantity but not quality. We 100% need signings

26 Dec 2011 23:25:57
Our we gona keep saying were unlucky?maybe we should do away with goals scored, and go on pocession stats. We'd be brilliant!

No negatives now boys, just the truth.
Kenny's crap so is Hendo, Adam, carrol etc. Bull s**t .

We have a good team that plays some of the best footy in the prem. It wasn't so long ago fans were complaining about Roy Hudson. "id rather us play to win and draw and loose then play to draw"

Some people will never know how to support our team and them people need to go and support City.

We play better football than Man U** and would beat them more than they beat us.

The difference between us and them is the mentality. Fans expect instant success that is not going to happen. Jenny is doing a fantastic job and top 4 is still very much in our reach.

No one can doubt how unlucky we've been and to slate carrol today is dam right disgraceful.

I am ashamed to be associated with the best fans in the world because my nephew supports our club better than most in here.

Yes I'm hurt as you are. The difference is I support LFC through thick and thin and always will coz I'm a true red

I agree Jenny is doing a fantastic job

Haha that wasn't even a typing error.
Touch screen phone and unfortunately I just reset the factory default and the word KENNY isn't in the dictionary

"We play better football than Man Utd and would beat them more than they beat us" - founded upon what exactly?

and yet you lie 14 pts behind Utd after just 18 games...

26 Dec 2011 23:22:38
hi there has anyone heard any rumours of Jelavic of Glasgow Rangers coming to Liverpool?

26 Dec 2011 23:14:55
Kevin Phillips?

Hmmm interesting suggestion, if you can ignore his age (he's still fit as butchers dog) he is still a class finisher. If he'd been in the box for us this season I guarantee he'd have bagged a dozen. Won't happen but short term not a bad idea

26 Dec 2011 23:14:44
We need a consistant striker like van persie or demba ba lol.

Carrol is just not up to it and even though suarez is great I dont feel hes an out and out striker. He should be playing on the wing each week and with bellamy on wing cus downing to be fair is not up to much either tbh.

26 Dec 2011 23:04:39
I love king kenny and he is definitely the man to take us forward, but he needs to publicly have. Go at the team for these totally wasteful performances in front of goal, rather than just praising opposing keepers.

If we beat the carp teams that are holding us to a draw we would be in the title race.

Carroll will come good but it won't be this season, we need a proven scorer to come in January and sooner rather than later

I totally argree i feel that maybe KK is a bit soft on the players i just dont know if his HT team talks are efective but im probably talking s**te. carroll played well.
lfc all day

26 Dec 2011 22:52:11
I think in January we should have a sale, Charlie Adam, Jordan Henderson, Stuart Downing 1/2 price on what we paid. Andy Carroll 70% discount. Buy a quality Attacking midfielder and start playing Suso, Sterling and Coady, to hell with their too young I have watched them play and they are a hell of a lot better than the above. Think Jack Wilshere who was one of the best players last season and I am sure their were doubts about giving him a chance because of his age add Messi, Owen, Pele, all good players who started playing first team at 17 or there abouts.
One for the future shi7e , the future is now.

26 Dec 2011 22:47:28
It is beyond me when fans come on here calling for kk to be sacked, for God's sake if the players don't do their part infront of goal and don't take their chances it is not his fault. He is a very good manager please make your criticism based on proper reasons not if we win keep the manager and if we win sack him that is so childish. We need a stiker and that is it and not sacking the manager.
Please this is the prem there are no guaranteed win games, and by the way Johnson is a waste of space . Kk rightly so should get rid because of that silly clause because today Kelly would have been a thousand times better.
Please stop all this drivel about mourinho we have KK how can you want someone else when he has not even had a full season in charge. January window could not have come at a better time.
hibsylfc

Johnson wasnt that bad

KK bought the players, sends out the team, the responsibility lies with him. I'm not saying he should be sacked - such talk is beyond ludicrous. But he is responsible for this team make no mistake, don't make excuses just because it is KK.

Johnson played well today and has played consistently well since that Chelsea goal, Downing, Carroll where a significant problem today with a back-up cast of a weak Henderson and absolutely horrendous Charlie Adam who was the worst player on the pitch by a mile - the more he plays the more out of his depth he looks, without a quality central midfield and a goalscorer we will always struggle and right now that is the reality. We are missing Lucas, Adam looks poor and Carroll looks awful (not for his missed chances but more for his poor runs, lack of movement and general lethargy)...

...Liverpool need to buy in January but do they have the money? We can only hope

26 Dec 2011 22:20:35
we should of bought shane long instead of andy caroll ed youthink caroll be sold in summer {Ed001's Note - give it a rest, Long is an average player with no potential, Carroll has a lot of potential and offers something different.}

Long has potential and has played well this season. Carroll has been incredibly poor for the entire season so far and shows no signs of improvement. Potential he has but if it is not realised it's worthless. And let us not forget Carroll is not 17 - he should be playing every game, running around trying his hardest and scoring on a regular basis - he is doing none of these. At 22 you should be converting potential into performances, I think you have this wrong here editor. Its all well and good supporting players but fans (and coaching staff!) being completely delusional about there contribution helps no-one, Carroll has been nowhere near good enough, how long do we wait for him to come good and realise this potential he has? {Ed001's Note - what potential does Long have? He has nothing, he is exceedingly average in every respect, just another headless chicken who runs around looking busy but achieves nothing.}

Potential means SFA

Long has pace, makes incisive, defense splitting runs and scores goals - all of which Carroll seems to lack. On top of that Long plays in a much poorer team who undoubtedly create fewer chances. I'm not advocating Long as being some kind of messiah or even a player Liverpool should have signed - I don't think he is good enough. The problem is he has looked much better than Carroll, in a worse team, so far this season. The alarm bells are ringing and I don't see where Carroll's next goal is coming from.

Newcastle at home next, if you were a betting man do you put money on Demba Ba getting a goal (who was a free transfer for Newcastle) or Andy Carroll? I know where my money would be and that is sad. I really hope Carroll proves me wrong but he just doesn't look like a Liverpool player and I don't think we have the luxury of time to wait for him to "come good" - if he ever does.

26 Dec 2011 22:15:35
It could be worse, we could be in massive debt due to some gamblers and have a manager that is not strong enough for the club - sound familiar?
Yes it's disappointing we don't finish off the lesser teams, but we are creating so many chances compared to the last 5 years, just can't finish em off. If we could then we would be top with a plus 50 goal difference.
Perspective needed though. Our ambition is fourth. We are 3 points off with the tough half to go, Stevie to hopefully be fit and play a big part, players to find form, someone to hit the back of the net! Etc etc.
I want us to win every game like any other red, but let's just see where this ride takes us before battering the players.
If we don't finish fourth then the least I would like is for us to have given it a bloody good go!
Remember, this time last season we were the worst team I had seen play in my lifetime. Some progress in such a small time I think!!
Ultra red

Good stuff Ultra Red. May I also point this out too... Of the last 18 years of The Premiership, Liverpool have probably averaged a finishing position of 4th - I remember 6th, 7th, 5th & yes even 8th!... And now Oil billionaires & Sheiks have now made 'lesser clubs' powerful, so all in all being 3 points of 4th (to me) does not warrant the current & vicious vilification of our club from some fans...it's like some folk think it's the worst it's ever been!? Well it isn't...

{Ed001's Note - don't talk nonsense, he played well, you might want to try watching the game in future and actually see what he did.}

---------------------------------------------

Any chance of elaborating Ed as in my opinion there wasn't one part of his game today that was any good. I've said my piece about him in an earlier post. He's useless. We run out of ideas when he plays. He 'hides', his runs make no sense, he has no aerial ability, he can't perform the target role as he doesn't know how to shape himself to recieve the ball, first touch is awful, no turn of pace, lazy. Who ever scouted him needs roasting. Give up the ghost now, the Carroll projects dead in the water.

Ozone {Ed001's Note - you clearly have made your decision and are refusing to do anything other than whinge then. Because it was simple to watch the game and see him chasing back and working hard, it did leave him out of position to receive forward passes at times, but you can't be everywhere at once. He needs better and more consistent crosses into the box, ones that he can attack, rather than balls that are lumped up to him and force him to make a standing jump against a defender who is able to run and head it clear. I suppose you are under the impression that he is some kind of superman who has to win every ball in the air and fails to take into account how bad the ball is? What Carroll needs is confidence, it is clearly low.}

Ed is Absolutely right
he had a decent game today lay off him and support him
Tom Red

Delusion as its best. Carroll was nearly always behind the play. When he wasn't he failed to score from about 4 yards (twice!) and headed an 8 yard header wide.... the service, build-up play, etc etc was not bad today, Liverpool once again created numerous chances. The finishing was poor - Carroll is a centre-forward, he is supposed to score goals, finish games off, this is why we bought him. He isn't doing that nor looks like being capable of doing that so why are you defending him?

I'm happy to support him in the face of the cockney media, football pundits etc etc but i expert Liverpool fans to have a sense of perspective about him, he was really poor (again) today... did anyone see when Gerrard crossed the ball and it went over his head, Downing nodded it back in but Carroll had already given up on it? He lacks heart and talent, we need someone better {Ed001's Note - one incident in a match is hardly indicative of his performance. I am far from delusional, just as Carroll is far from the finished product, but he worked hard and had a good game today. But the blinkered boo boy fools, who exist only to pick on their latest target now that Lucas has proven how little they know about football, will only ever see the negatives.}

You are entitled to your opinion Editor and whilst I agree that Carroll is not the finished article I don't agree that he worked hard enough today. He may of tracked back but that isn't what you buy a centre-forward for is it? I hope he comes good because we have spent a lot of money and I fear we don't have equal amounts to spend on a replacement if we need one. Carroll should have scored twice today, possibly three times but he didn't - how can you defend that?

I am aware that one incident in a match proves nothing but surely a striker, especially one desperate for a goal, should be pouncing on any half chance like that? I think if Carroll had the mentality of Suarez he would of scored far more goals this season and that is no reflection on talent but work ethic.

I disagree with your opinion Editor but I respect your right to it. I hope OUR club does improve its results and I hope Carroll does improve as well. I am not a clueless boo boy but a passionate supporter, I believe I have a right to express an opinion as much as any other supporter - believe it or not I was a strong advocate of Lucas in his early days (I know everyone says this but it is actually true) and I always believe in giving a chance to our players. I hope Carroll does succeed because he seems like he wants to, I'm just not sure if he has the talent to. Personally I don't see it wrong as people offering criticisms - today's result was poor and people deserve to voice there annoyance - fans pay money, pay for the players wages, we expect 100% from everyone. Gerrard always gives it, Suarez always gives it, Agger always gives it, Reina always gives it, plenty do... it doesn't always seem that way with Carroll. No hard feelings Editor we have differing opinions but we support the same side, I hope next time I visit these pages we're discussing the merits of Andy Carrolls stunning hattrick against his former club...

26 Dec 2011 22:02:29
i know the last few seasons for us were rough and we are still a "work in progress" but there is one benefit from these dire years that some supporters seem to be missing- our love for the club. I'd bet that if man u were to be on a run like this, half their fans would change to man city. Who agrees

Who cares...they're not and never will be as bad as the (not so) mighty 'Pool!

14 points behind in December; when Utd's squad is 'average' or 'in decline' and L'pool are 'on the up'.....says it all really

well done for loving your club tho'...very impressive...not clutching at straws at all...you're as bad as Newcastle fans who believe no1 supports their own team quite like they do!

And by some strange coinsidence both teams are around the same standard, battling it out for 6th in the PL

Maybe small-club syndrome?

one word to all the moaners....roy hodgson......rather be near the top than near the bottom,it takes longer than one season you know........jokes

Thats 2 words

If you put a hyphen inbetween like roy-hodgson then does that count as one word?

26 Dec 2011 21:58:42
Calm down lads calm down.

26 Dec 2011 21:54:48
Guys! I can read the future! Everytime downing gets the ball and 'streaks' down the wing, i mumble to my cousin 'useless' and bling!! Magicaly he justify's my comment by doing somthing absolutely dreadfully useless

26 Dec 2011 21:53:53
No if's, buts, maybes, he'll come good, it takes time, he's only young etc. etc. Andy Carroll is a bag of spanners. Who ever scouted him, (thats if he ever was scouted) clearly has no eye for the basic skills required in a footballer.

The lad has no turn of pace, his first touch is consistent with sunday league, his heading ability is dire (he just leaps rather than go for the ball), he's lazy and his positional sense for a forward is the worst in the premier league. In short he doesn't know what he's doing, he's way out of his depth.

The most irritating aspect of his game is when he tries to peel off the defender when Downing's pushing down the wings but then doubles back on himself just as Downings putting the cross in. Theres no way he's going to lose his marker with that strategy given his non-existent turn of pace off the mark and secondly the majority of crosses go into the box weighted to suit the direction he's spinning off to.

He tries to pull away from defenders to take a pass when he should'nt and never fills the hole when he should. Commonly referred to as 'hiding' when I used to play. He never shapes his body correctly to either take the ball on the deck as a target or jump strong in an aerial challenge.

I'd even go as far as to say I'd put Ngog on the team sheet before him.

The Carroll projects dead in the water. It will never work. He is the 'Steve Bull' of Newscastle. He should never have left. He's a Geordie lad through and through and his hearts not in the Liverpool way.

If we don't get another good striker before the Suarez suspension, its mid table for us.

Ozone

Give him a break, I think he actually played well today, worked hard and was unlucky not to score.

No wonder his confidence is low when there are people like you whinging about the poor lad all the time. Imagine what he'd think of us Liverpool fans if he came on this site and got put off by the likes of you.

He is a good player with a lot of potential, he needs proper crosses and balls which he can run onto and put in the back of the net.

maka YNWA JFT96

What is wrong with people, bring these players down, i thought we had the best support in football. i guess not. there seems to be very few that are behing the whole team. just support them or jog on. j

26 Dec 2011 21:45:08
how unlucky are we (liverpool) weve hit the woodwork 17 times missed 3 pens.all refs are arwfull for us.including lines man.every goalkeeper has a blinder ie (vorm, ruddy, hart, blackburns gk,stokes gk,al habsi) are luck has got to change soon but when we sort are selfs out sum 1 is getting a proper thrashing

I fancy its going to be Newcastle on Friday.

I knew that when Lucas became injured. That was it.
Now it would be known what his contribution has been.
It's all gone a bit flat.
The English Premier League is poor this year. Forget about old whisky nose.

26 Dec 2011 21:36:56
Carroll had a good game mate or didn't you watch?

Chuck Norris
-----------------------
Which game u were watching chuck?carrol was pants and awful.he had good 5 minutes.
Are u talking abt his 1 touch football.
I think u hv hangover from 25th.in short carrol was poor so was downing, adam, hendo.
Wake up.

Red indian {Ed001's Note - don't talk nonsense, he played well, you might want to try watching the game in future and actually see what he did.}

Your living in a cloud editor - Carroll failed to score from 4 yards twice, missed a header from 8 yards, failed to make incisive runs or attacking contributions for the entire game, failed to play a single defensive splitting pass or any pass of real danger or surprise.... but yes he held the ball up a few times, well done Carroll, tell me how is he any different from Emile Heskey? {Ed001's Note - give it a rest whiner. If he failed to make incisive runs, how did he get into position to fail to score twice from 4 yards or fail to make any attacking contributions for the entire game? You are clearly a boo boy whiner who has moved onto Carroll now that Lucas has shown you to be a fool. Stop wasting my time with your petty nonsense and try learning something about the game.}

Sorry editor but calling me a boo boy and a whiner doesn't support your argument. I always supported Lucas from a very early stage (although you may doubt that) and I always give players a chance. You will note that the two chances from 4 yards that were created for Andy Carroll were due to other players rather than himself but, more importantly as our centre-forward, you should be questioning how he didn't score??

And if you look at the entire 90 minutes can you honesty say Carroll had a productive game? I want the lad to do well but lying about his performances serves no-one well. He is playing poorly, he looks like he lacks motivation, confidence, desire. The lad has had a lot of support from the fans and so far is failing to pay it back.

I don't wish to slander him too much because he is a Liverpool player and,more importantly, because it will never actually help him. Surely though Editor you can see that he needs a dramatic increase in his performances because what we have seen so far this season hasn't been good enough.. {Ed001's Note - his performances have improved, it is people like you, with your constant refrain of 'I don't want to whinge and whine and attack our players constantly but I am going to pick on this one over and over no matter what he does' that can't see he is improving. His movement was far superior to previous games, he created plenty of space for Suarez by keeping Samba completely occupied for 90 minutes. You are expecting miracles, I just expect improvement.}

26 Dec 2011 21:33:35
yakubu was man of the match for me, the way he took out dunn from a clear goal chance, liverpool could of went 2-1 down... wait.. yakubu was playing upfront for blackburn?... consider us lucky we have a point then.

26 Dec 2011 21:29:03
Eds what are the chances of a pacey r-winger like Moses coming in? Wouldn't be overly expensive surely and has great potential {Ed001's Note - Moses won't be coming, we are looking for good players, not players who have one good game against us.}

Then why did we sign adam n carrol?

26 Dec 2011 21:21:46
Today we played 442 where we've been playing
451 since about the Spurs game. Looked to me
like Suarez had more space and time as he's
really isolated when he's up there on his own in 451.
Carroll did not have a bad game and was unlucky
not to score. The problem with 442 is that Suarez
and Carroll don't twin well, bit too much like chalk
and cheese. With 451, Suarez
is isolated and the goals are not coming from midfield,
Looks like only maxi can really score and he rarely plays.
Bellamy can score but can't play 90 minutes, Kuyt can
play for 180 minutes but can't score. Downing looks like
he's never going to score, hopefully he can get some personal
training from John Barnes. For me I'd invest everything in
getting another striker in January and a creative midfield player if possible. Gerrard is still class, hope he can stay fit for the rest of the season.

26 Dec 2011 21:16:34
Same old story again today I see. My mate keeps telling me not to worry because 1 day were going to give someone a right hiding at home and I used to think the same but now I can't see it happening I can't see our luck changing and plus I don't think we have it in us to go and totally finish a team off like others do. The last time I thought we might if done it was v Bolton we absolutely hammered them and at 3 nil I thought it might be a big score but no we stopped playing and just kept the ball for the rest of the game and my point is? Well I don't really know what my point is but U know what I mean. Sorry for the long post

Mat lfc

26 Dec 2011 21:13:08
Evening Eds hope you had great christmas ,alot of talk about all these keepers having great days at anfield, well my thoughts are the kop are to quiet .need to turn up the noise and frighten the s**t out of these teams, and then watch the results come in .cheers psv

26 Dec 2011 21:12:53
Some "supporters" people are on here!! Get a grip people, some days are good some are bad, we're still not the finished article yet, Kenny will buy in January to improve the squad, if you look at the chances we created in games we're just lacking that killer striker, we should go all out to get Higuain in January if he really is available... Good to see Gerrard back and a few more games under his belt he'll give us that driving force we need in midfield or possibly just behind Suarez in attack... Lets see where we finish in the league then judge Kenny Dalglish, he sat a target for his team, a top 4 finish and a run in the cup games, considering we're still looking good on all fronts i think he's doing a good job so far, he can only do so much with the players at his disposal... So relax people, we are looking alot better than we have the last few years so we are improving, today Blackburn defended for their lives and their keeper was excelent, we know we're better than what we're playing, its only a matter of time before we get it right... The funny thing is the people saying we should get Mourinho are the ones on saying how great Liverpool are when we beat Chelsea twice and drew with Man-City, get a life and support the team or dont support us at all

Rocky

Well said Rocky.

Come on lads, stop being so short sighted and fickle. Be positive about the future and get behind Kenny and the lads.

People will start to confuse us with Man U or Chelsea fans soon if you keep this up.

26 Dec 2011 21:12:38
The Scum score 5 and we manage a draw against a poor Blackburn.
Why cannot we score goals, well that is what it is about?
Play Johnson as an out and out winger for Carroll?
I really don't know.
How do we score goals ?

26 Dec 2011 21:11:23
Never mind boys...still a point. Keep the chin up and carry on. A little tweaking in January and things will be ok.

DaveyBootle

26 Dec 2011 21:05:24
We only need a Right winger and a striker and we can compete with City & United.

These last few games have shown all those fans who still doubt Lucas that he is vital to our team.

Unlucky today, thought Suarez could of been better in the area, Carroll worked alot harder today and played well after a nervy start.

KT!

Yet ANOTHER poor performance, yet ANOTHER 2 points DROPPED to ANOTHER bottom side, same old story over and over again, poor signings apart from Enrique ,bad subs throughout the season, poor tactics,an inept midfield who contribute NOTHING,we do NOT have an out and out goalscorer and when luis starts his ban we will have NOBODY up front who not only runs his heart out but creates chances, bottom line is we need 2-3 midfield players who have imaginativeness and 2 goalscorers and above all a new MANAGER

Alan50

King kenny is the man ynwa

Alan50 = clueless

Kk is the man. I don't know if it's 12 year olds or people with no clue. It's going to take a goal poacher an a right winger. A year ago we were delegation candidates!!!!!!!!

Idiots

Djjj

Poor performance in what sense? You ever seen a boxer batter someone and get slugged with a lucky punch? It happens, and in Liverpools case, it seems to happen in every home game. Chill out and let's see what late presents Santa brings us in January

DaveyBootle

I think we're lacking a good playmaker and a good cf, we just need someone who can poach. I like Pavyluchenko or defoe for cf but maybe we could tempt podolski or soldado. i agree with you that some of the signings havent been up to scratch but we may aswell back them because its done their signed.

So you're basically saying that AFTER the summer, as distinct from "BEFORE" it, it cannot be totally ruled out that AVB or Jurgen Klopp could be the new Liverpool manager?

Obviously there are certain scenarios that will have to play out for this matter to even be alive.
Nevertheless, I'm encouraged.

Pity he went to your club, Ed002.
Andre would've exciting for LFC.
Young and fresh, intelligent, cultured, bold and with presence, great footy philosophy, AVB's exactly the sort of man FSG had in mind when crafting their vision and roadmap for our club.

Melville {Ed002's Note - Liverpool never showed any interest in AVB. I am surprised there is such a push after a draw to get Dalglish out - typically the fans only want that after a loss. AVB will not be moving to Liverpool. Klopp is also in gainful empolyment right now.}

Yer Melville, AVB is doing so well at Chelsea
with all the money he has to spend there? Must be all down that 'culture'? His team did not win today either by the way and also drew against wigan! So for the love of Christ, tell us why he's such a better manager than Kenny Dalglish, who happens to be manager of a club that spanked AVB's cultured, young, intelligent and fresh philosophical ass twice in one week in December? Or is is that you are only happy whenever Liverpool have a poor game so you can roll out another one of your depressing monologues. Your worse than a manc, your like an enemy within.

Kenny Dalglish's Liverpool timeline.

First 18 league games in charge: average points per game - 1.83.

£50 mil investment and a "fit" Andy Carroll.

Second 18 league games in charge: average points per game - 1.72.

£50 mil summer investment (£85 mil if you wish to count Andy Carroll as a summer signing due to his fitness, £50 mil if not) and we are doing worse than last season.

From these statistics, it looks as though Kenny is a good manager in terms of the on the pitch side of the game, but whoever is in charge of signings (Kenny, Comolli or both) have taken us backwards.

Ash

Ash, apt name for a non-supporter. Sometimes mate the Liverbird is like a mythological bird, the phoenix, which rises up from the ashes of its nest and is reborn anew, immortal, like LFC. The nest maybe burning for now, but she will rise again to greatness under the leadership of Kenny Dalglish.

Interesting,knowledgable post Ash

How have we gone backwards?, judge it season by season not per game, this time last season we were down the bottom end of the table.

we need to buy a striker asap in January one that can score

26 Dec 2011 20:42:23
Well I think it's safe to say that liverpool aren't going to make a top four position this season. Same old story - we can beat the big teams but drop points against the so-called whipping boys of the premier league. This time, it's against a team that has been whooped all season by every other team and then we play them at home and........DRAW!

Despite dominating, we couldn't outscore them! Their keep allegedly played out of his socks....more like we just weren't clinical enough but then again, we did have big Andy Carroll up front with Suarez, a player known for his world class finishing....NOT!

We can't rely on just Suarez every game, and I hope KK & DC realise that we need a top class striker to be brought in the January transfer window or we can kiss any champions league ambitions for next season goodbye!

Eds, any news on transfers please?

Red Legend 01 {Ed002's Note - There is nothing new right now.}

Tough day (again). There are always positives, and today it was Downing for me. He plays better on the right than the left. I think our biggest issue is that we aren't moving the ball fast enough. The play happens in slow motion, which is why every goal keeper can save our shots at the last moment. The sad thing is that one of our most consistent players for first 14 games (Enrique) is getting too adventurous and making bad passes too. Maybe he needs a day off?

Enriques excellently consistant

Hiya Ed. Hope you had a good Xmas and Boxing Day. I didnt manage to catch the game today and really disappointed with the result.
From what I'm hearing it was a bad performance. Ed my question is, what do you think of our team? I feel we were making progress but today just seems like we are going backwards. Ed what do you think happened or is happening?
Cape Town Red {Ed001's Note - there was nothing wrong with the performance other than putting it in the back of the net. We dominated the game and should have won easily. The crowd need to stop groaning and moaning and try bloody singing like the away fans do, we might not see the confidence visibly drain from players as the game goes on then.}

13 attempts on Target
15 off Target
And 9 corners

only 1 goal!!!

Either they're classing Reina's goal kicks as attempts on goals or our strike force has to get sharper....

The defense are doing their job to be fair!

26 Dec 2011 20:35:37
Someone once said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

My point is simple, I don't think it's 18 games of bad luck... something needs to be tweaked!

Passing and possession at times have been sensational. I love it! However, you don't' get points for that nor hitting the post. We've got to get clinical and sharp quick or we're a 6th place team this season.

p.s. I don't think Kenny should be out of the job either, I think him and Clarke will eventually find a winning formula.

I think that we are short a second flair player (for the lesser teams) and a goalscorer. we are playing a system that works against the good teams that want to attack you but you don't often catch defensive teams on the counter keep faith but in a few seasons i think we'll be sweet.

Hi Eds I have been a LFC supporter for over 30 years and I have always supported and kept faith in the club in good times and in bad times but Im sorry to say that it looks like its turning out to be a bad decision giving the managers job to Kenny Dalglish.Ok the players must take some of the blame for our very incostintant form but no one should forget that at the end of the day its Kenny who chooses the team and is responsable for tactics and tactically Kenny is a very poor tactical manager whos tactics and team selections has cost us a lot of points this season.In my opinion if we dont make the Top 4 come the end of the season then the owners should do everything to get Jose Mourinho who has stated that he would like to return to manage in The Premier League after he ends his time with Real Madrid because like him or not his record speaks for itself and the mans a proven winner as a football manager and knows how to get the best out of his players. Thanks Eds and keep up the good work .J.B from Malta {Ed001's Note - give it a rest and support the team instead of talking nonsense. There is no chance of Mourinho, it's ridiculous.}

What a load of old tosh. Try supporting the team instead of moaning. dalglish is the man to take us forward so stop all this absolute rubbish about replacing him, or go back to man u page were fed up with your whingeing

Will everyone just calm down with the doom and gloom and despair.

We are just 3 pts off 4th place, but probably more realistically 4 pts (when Arsenal win tomorrow). Even so, 3 or 4 pts off achieving what we would all be content with at the end of the season and we haven't played to our maximum yet.

Even a slight improvement in the scoring department in the second half of the season and we will be right up there.

Steve G is back now and together with a good quality signing in Jan we should have plenty to look forward to.

Just get behnd Kenny and the lads.

FT

Well said ft. Only things that need changing at anfield ( bar a right winger and a poacher which will be addressed) is the attitude of some so called fans you're the only ones we want out

26 Dec 2011 20:22:52
Result today was not what we wanted and reflected on our current season where we have created chances but were unable to finish, anyone who is slating Kenny one thing i will say when team win manager gets praise and when team dont then people want manager out. well all i will say is if people were to be listen each team would have new manager 2 times a a season.its thank less job. our objective is top 4 and lets judge his buys after season is over. we are only halfway. Every player has bad days and good days and manager has to consider loads of things such as form in training and formation and sometimes they make mistake. i think i was to ask 10 people here to team choice 7 would disagree and its just human nature. lets hope we buy what we require and support more, at least we are playing much better football compared to Rafa and Hodgson and even non-LFC fans are somehow admit liking for that.....YNWA

Ed or anyone, how did big Andy play play today, heard he was unlucky due to two fantastic saves? {Ed001's Note - he had a decent game today, didn't get the service he needed but put himself about, chased back and covered Gerrard after he came on and didn't bother to chase back.}

Thanks Ed, will sign from now on. Aber Red

Could this be the Dutch Andy Carroll?

Name: Bas Dost
Age: 23
Height: 6ft 5in
2010– present Heerenveen 48 games (27 goals)
Cost Heerenveen €2.5 million

On 10 December 2011, Dost scored all five goals in Heerenveen's 5-0 win away to Excelsior.

Could be one to keep an eye on

The cutch Carroll? He scored 5 goals in one game.
Has Carroll even scored 5 goals for us?

26 Dec 2011 19:08:14
Mourinho is not the answer. Kk all the way. Were missing a goal poacher and a right winger and I very confident kk knows this an will be addressed in january

Don't want frigging Mourinho as well. Kenny will fix things in the next window. Still work in progress.

BooDaBooze

Id like to believe Kenny WILL sort it out in the transfer window but i doubt it- look at what we have bought--Adam, Henderson, Carroll!

Mourinho will only go to a club that will give him big money to buy players, he said it himself, he wanted 10mill a year for himself wages, and something like 150mill to buy players..meaning Man city or Chelsea where he already was..Dalglish will do it for us, this team is getting better, the only thing missing is the goals, we hit the post 17 odd times, and we have Gerrerd back, things are improving
JayB {Ed002's Note - Mourinho has never said anything of the sort of course.}

Ok mayby he didnt , but it was in the papers!

Maxi isnt good enough for this team- he wouldnt even be a sub for the top 6 teams!

Bellamy must be managed, because of chronic knee problems. All the best.

KNEE JERK

I like Maxi Rodriguez , probably one of our top 3 intelligent players with a career average of 1 goal every 4 games . I'm glad we have him in the squad .

Downing played excellent today.

To the unnamed poster sayin maxi isnt good enough: Ur probably the dumbest person on this planet. Without maxi, we wud never have beaten chelsea, we wud have lost yesterday, n never made it to the semifinals of carling cup. Atleast his IQ is higher than 99% of the players we have.

hi eds, having watched the game today and the frustration coming from the crowd .what do you think will be the new striking transfer options for us. at the moment i see nothing different coming from the bench. we are creating so many chances it is criminal to be missing 98% of them with all guilty of being goal shy.
who is the answer.???

I am I think, i'm fairly old,ill be 40 in November but i am a creative midfielder. I am hoping to pack in the smokes in the next year or so, and lose the fat around my neck etc. i even have the new shirt too and it fits alright. my plan is to watch the game from the vip lounge for the first 20 mins or so and then call Kenny and tell him to put me on.

Relax lads. some of the critisism is way over the top. we are where we should be, and have been a bit unlucky. Big picture.

If you think that Liverpool should be 6th halfway through the season then you need to support that other team from Liverpool.

Maybe its just me, but I think Liverpool SHOULD be in the top 4. I think Liverpool SHOULD be challenging for the title. I Think Liverpool SHOULD be vying for european glory.

Has our stock fallen so much that we now expect nothing from our club?

I expect LFC to win the title , and I support them in there efforts . There stock has not fallen with me .

Are you takin the mick we were relegAtion candidates this time last year give dalglish a chance

26 Dec 2011 18:46:13
Yes we dominate possession against these weaker teams however we have been saying we have been unlucky all season! How much longer can we say this? Carroll was not bad today but it is obvious he should not be playing. Carroll's attributes do not match the way the rest of the team plays well (pass and move) and so often hinders the team! Adam had a terrible game today and I feel despite decent performances is only good enough for the bench. Downing for me has been extremely unlucky but again for how long can we say this. Henderson is young and will improve but is not good enough to start atm. The reason suarez hasn't been scoring is because he carries team every game and is the one creating the chance and as no one else will shoot (except adam and henderson from 40 yards) feels he has to himself from a difficult position! I also feel maxi atm is our best goalscorer, he always gets in the right positions. We are clearly in desperate need of a goalscorer such as soldado and feel we must buy someone like him to stand a chance of a top 4 finish

Thanks
YNWA

We can keep saying that we are not getting three points in the games, because we are not finishing the chances and that the oppositions goalkeeper are saving a point with inspired saves.Their is nothing wrong with being honest and saying at the moment we need a fowler or an Aldo type finisher.

Hey eds,why are Liverpool not trying to sign C.TEVEZ????
Is there any truth in the PODOLSKI rumour?
Thanx

26 Dec 2011 18:45:27
Again and again this happens, we create chances, dominate play, but we can't finish any of them. We need a real poacher like Soldado to take our chances and someone to link midfield to attack, Ozil for example.

Adam was very poor today, we desperately need a proper DM, shows how valuable Lucas is to us.

On the bright side, good to see Stevie G back.

Adam Morgan......? The kid knows where the net is surely worth a shot no? He has to be given a chance he could be a real surprise and end up saving us a fortune

I am a liverpool fan through and through always will be good times or bad. As much as I will get shot down for this anyone think kenny is very poor tactically and its costing us points... He needs to think about dropping his golden boyadam.........

Anyone hope everyone had a merry xmas!

hi guys great website. i have been supporting Liverpool for all my life and i have never ever seen Liverpool play such boring football and draw against lower teams. its a disgrace. Henderson, Carroll, kuyt, downing, skirtel, Adam all flops. Suarez is going to leave this season and i cant blame him. I had enough of Kenny's formation. we need tevez or bring back Torres. otherwise we are finished this season. is there anyone who u think will come to Liverpool this January in terms of wingers or strikers. And also will we sell these British flops?. Thank you.

You're life began after hodgson was sacked then?

You're probably in bed by now snuggling up to your ben 10 teddy or something but that post has to be the funniest one i've read for a while, thanks for that! I hope Santy brought all your presents..

De Jong: Plays for Twente - Striker

Erikssen Plays for Ajax - Center Midfielder

Montilivo - Plays for Fiorentina - Midfielder

That info good for you?

Oh dear another draw and dropped points, what a pity. Sometimes football is a strange game, we couldn't score against wigan, and the Mancs put 5 goals in. The second half of the season is nearly upon us, and hopefully with a few shrewd acquisitions we can get at leat 35 or more points, and that will hopefully secure 4th place. Though it is reported that Chelsea have £150million to spend, and one can assume Arsenal will strengthen as well, so we will certainly have our work cut out for us. Its really time that some of these million pound signings justified their costs and started producing the performances they are so handsomely paid to do. One has to ask though, are many of the English players really good enough!!.
Food for thought.

Jones, Cleverley, Welbeck & Smalling aren't too shabby.

HEY LFC FANS...

i am beyond annoyed because its got past that stage where i have to stop thinking we are a top 4 team cos we are not.

i agree with one of the posts where he talks about mourinho getting results and makign sure, but we seem to have manager after manager with the same comments...same excuses...same weaknesses...and each manager has spent a certain amount of money each..

before u guys go crazy...i think kenny has improved our play tremendously......
but for many years we have the same weaknesses which u see now, cant beat the lower teams, cant score when we pile on the pressure in games we are drawing..no killer instinct..

we have it ONCE....when we finished 2nd in the league..thats it

im getting sick of liverpool making the same mistakes, just look at spurs...noway have they spent the same amoutn of money as us...and arsenal..yet they have players with real ability and honestly guys..we have just a few..come on

This problem started round about the time Kenny left us last. Thats when we started to struggle against the lesser teams.

26 Dec 2011 21:41:51
www.transferleague.co.uk/league-tables/2006-2011.html

and remember nearly £60m of this was last Jan because of a certain Judas.

We have spent 10m more over the past 5years, not a True reading though. They have spent alot more in wages and agent fees (no doubt a few brown envelopes in there too) Wost thing is, Nuggets like you moan when we dont spend and moan when we do. You dont become a poor footballer overnight nor a poor football manager 1. let the team gel 2. SUPPORT the team not bring them down 3. Compare our match stats to last few season's games, far more chances created but admittedly less put away. We dont have a big sugar daddy selling off his oil to pay into a pot so we have to build

We are talking about the finest of margins here, between Liverpool possibly actually winning the league & trying to get into the top 4. The amount of chances we are getting has to be more than any team in the PL. We are absolutely murdering teams. We are not getting our fair crack of the whip when it comes to our chances into goals. I've never seen so many keepers pull of so many top class saves against one team. Alas I would also have to concede we are also wasteful in front of goal. We are, in a way becoming a bit like Arsenal that we are passing a team to death & wanting to walk it into the net. A perfect example of this was Enrique had a chance to hit it on the left as the ball was cleared from a corner, yet he choose to beat 2 players before blazing it over with his right. Very frustrating, I truely beleive we would be at the top of the pile with a little more devine intervention & better finishing. There's only one game this season we shouldn't have won! Spurs!

Think its going to be a while before we win the league , its only fourth place that we can aim for at the moment , so we should take a reality check , we are just not good enough , yes big improvement on last season , but our mid-field , after all the money we spent , are losing so many battles , only bright point being Stevie G comimg back in time for the semi s , we now have a chance there , but if we cant beat the rovers , when their team has so many 1st teamers out , there is no way we are going to make that top four , so I just hope we can make 5th or 6th , or we will be laughed at , sorry but thats how it looks to me , not going to go into how bad some players are , we all know who is just not up to it , and that right flank is a right balls , we get to their by line , and yet just cant make the right pass or cross , it happens so often , maybe after Kenny buys in Jan , and the summer , we will have a team that can make the top two . ynwa . redforever .

Adam and Henderson are not good enough not enough good games they perform in. Ive watched them all season and its the midfield is where we are falling behind.
PPL will see how valubale Lucas was.

Too right we need someone to put a tackle in . also downing has to be the worse winger ever to play for us. couldnt find a teammate if he was in the changing room and slower than a pensioner , love suarez but someone needs to till him its a team game !!

Look at the amount of chances created by our midfield this season, Adam and Henderson are two good signings for Liverpool!

Jose Mourihno goes to clubs and makes them competitve almost straight away. He usually wins league and gets to champions league semi or final within 2nd season. With Liverpool we get new managers in and we do not seem to progress in premier league. Is this similar to England were presure on players stops them performing? I personally can not answer that question!

I love Kenny and believe in him as tactician but would Jose have bought the following players Carroll, Downing, Adam and Henderson for almost £80m.

I doubt it.

Maybe it is time for Kenny to be humble and admit these players are not the future of Lierpool FC and try and recoup some of that money.

steve068

Who cares what Mourinho would have done ?

Relax and support the team . Kenny Dalglish is no mug , just bide your time and let the results come .

Positives to take from the game:

Our defence still looks very solid, the conceded goal was fairly unfortunate.

When Gerrard came off the bench he showed his class and helped change the game to our advantage.

Carrol looked slightly better than he normally does and got in some good positions despite still being below par its important he gets a run in the team in preparation for Suarez's ban.

Chelsea could only draw at home to fulham, so assuming Arsenal win tomorrow we're still only 4pts off 4th place with much of the season to go.

Negatives:

Despite creating a number of chances most of them weren't clear cut.

Finishing has been very poor in recent weeks. Suarez is left to do far too much work by himself and he's starting to look tired, its important to remember he's barely had a break from football over the last year because he was playing in the Copa America.

A little bit of flare is definitly missing.

I think the general consensus is that with a decent finisher and an exciting right winger Liverpool could have a top team that could not only go for 4th place (which judging by out performances so far I think we deserve this year) but make an assault on the title and challenge the two Manchester clubs.

Why on earth do you believe you deserve 4th this year ? As the table shows , you dont ! But as per normal , you are about to moan about the bad luck , bad decisions etc etc ! The only bad decision you have had is the Luis affair which I thought was total bo***cks , and rigged against you . If Luis has a ban , then why is Terry still walking around like the cock of the walk ?

Oviously very disappointed with the result as we are struggling to score against teams that are conceding goals left right and centre but we all need to remember that it's may taske 2-3 seasons to get where we want. I'm still hoping for top for but if I'm honest we've spent most of the Season out of the top for and I think that shows the level we are at , at the moment in comparison with other sides.

Maybe some additions in January and we could have a better second half of the season and creep in the top 4 but if not we'll build in the summer and go again next season

carroll is the right man, where just playing the wrong football, i never thought i'd miss lucas but atleast he was consistant. i also think suarez would benefit more if we just concentrate on getting the ball to carrolls head(or to his feet), i would play gerrard RW if lucas werent injured and downing LW, we need to splash out on a CM. heres is are best team if we play the right way...

reina

johnson skrtel agger enrique

gerrard lucas/newsigning adam downing

suarez

carroll

new signing should be, if we can, confident on the ball, good defending, and i'm sorry but certaintly we didnt buyhenderson to be in the team sheet every week, i understand why he is right now but i think think spearing deserves his spot but hendersons price tag will always be the deciding factor, i also think kelly should be used more, not just when someone is injured.

Don't worry lads Blackburn are a great side that won the league not so long ago....or rather they won the league not so long ago if you can remember when liverpool last won it. lol. Don't worry once Suarez is banned i'm sure Carroll will step up to the mark and show us this potential for which you spent 35m on. Or Gerrard may actually go two games without being injured or Carragher may stop giving away fouls on the edge of and inside the box. Agger and Johnson may stop their love affairs with the Physio's room, and you might find a proper right winger rather than playing Henderson out there all the time....btw how much did he cost again? lol. Lucas a player whom every liverpool fan wanted rid of a few years ago has some how become your best player although he to has taken a fancy to the physio recently. So exactly how has Kenny improved this team? He maybe a good motivational manager but he's as good at spotting talent as Benitez was(anyone remember Josemi) and his tactic's are a little out dated. But i do wish you all the best but to improve you may need to remove your heads from your asses.

Shappy

Thanks for that, you are the second best team in europe, and your aim this season was to be the best team in europa (lol)
5 times

B o H

Ha think you lot only won the champions league twice in the 25 years since that peason took over , so there is no way united can say they are anywhere near the best in europe , ha you were humiliated by Barcelona , and Man City , so your not even the best team in Manchester , so go back and chew on that . redforever .

Funny shappy got 5 agrees, 5 is a magic number eh lad but only for liverpool

I think it's funnier that a United fan only had one disagree on a liverpool site. Maybe you guys are starting to see the light. lol

Hi guys,

Really worried about our current home form! Results are simply not good enough! I think Kenny has done a great job in steadying the ship but has the time come to look for a long term replacement sooner rather than later?
I really believe that since Kevin Keen came in as first team coach the team has gone backwards!

Also after half the season are Adam, Downing, Carroll and Henderson good enough for us?

I am red through and through and only want the club to get back to where they belong and I know financially we are in a much better position now than in previous years but is Kenny the answer?

What you guys think?

Kenny may not be the LONG TERM solution

26 Dec 2011 17:57:08
You only need to look at the goal difference column to see were the problem is! 21 goals is dreadful! You can say that the opposite keeper has played out of his skin every time but he his only doing his job which is what our forwards are paid to do but can't do it!

The forward line is practically brand new :

Luis Suarez , Andy Carroll , Craig Bellamy , Stuart Downing and the attacking midfielders Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam .

I reckon the longer the season goes on , the better the attacking results will be . Still , LFC is always fun to watch .

26 Dec 2011 17:53:42
Well, once again a result that didn't reflect the game. There is nothing wrong with the team or the tactics - we are defensively sound, we overran them in midfield, we pressed, we harried, we pressured and we blasted shot after shot at the goal from high crosses, low crosses, through balls, flick-ons and headers. We're doing everything right - we're just not getting the luck. Sooner or later somebody is going to get a hatful of goals put past them. RED LENIN

We cant just put it down to luck mate, there must be an underlying problem that causes us to not score goals, i think were too focused on playing 'pretty' football, we dont have the players for that.

Glad someone else sees the glass as half full.

Second half of the season is ours, granted Stevie stays fit.

Chipkin9 (EIRE)

Thanks
YNWA

We have to stop this "we are not lucky" once or twice is OK but not six or seven games. We are just not good enough in front of goal. We need reinforcement in that area.

I am still supporting KK but his additions this summer has not been good enough and he need to realize this before it's too late.

It will take time to build a strong side and he did have an "uphill" battle when he took over from Woy.

JRF Red

Bit of both . first post is a bit too positive and the second a little too negative1 we are doing ALMOST everything right, but need better crossers and flair.

26 Dec 2011 17:54:47
Don't understand all the Andy Carroll stick myself. Thought he had a good game getting stuck in and tracking back to pressure the Blackburn players.

The crosses to him were undoubtedly poor all game and the only 2 chances he had came late in the second half of the match. One he put about 2 inches wide and the other required a ridiculous save from the Blackburn keeper to stop.

The lads been limited to substitute appearances this season (admittedly as a result of his form) but today must no doubt be seen as a good step.

I would myself lay the blame a bit on suarez. While he has no doubt been the main cog of the liverpool team for the last year he is prone to try something ridiculous and / or stupid and his finishing poor.

Liverpool are a team rebuilding and at this point last season were in a terrible state. If we replicate the form we achieved after Christmas last season then we will have a very very good chance at gaining that fabled Champions League spot and attracting the big name players that will fire us up the league.

believe in KK and FSG.

J

If the rest of the midfield and attack put in the same effort as Suarez, we would be winning games like this.

The midlfield is not the problem we dominate midfield in almost every game

26 Dec 2011 17:54:45
Look i will probably be shot down for this but Luis Suarez is not world class he is far too wasteful with the ball.

Hazar someone else has noticed. lol

Definitely not world class at the moment. He is nowhere as good as he was at Ajax in terms of scoring goals.

BooDaBooze

He needs another player like him to bounce off.. ie Bellamy... He's isolated and forced to do the job of 3 players

Bang bang. Suarez needs a player who can keep up with him. Most of our players are tippy tappy passing out of the penalty area, not taking any responsibility or attacking. They have no confidence, even Enrique today was poor with his shooting, but at least he tried.

Suarez will play well only if he has a decent striker besides him. He is forced to do the work of two strikers while carrol n kuyt daydream.

lol .... king kenny to buy darren bent for 40 M .. over rated and british ....

It's Defoe he really has his eye on. lol

Overrated? Go check his goalscoring stats, clueless

26 Dec 2011 17:50:50
Carroll had a very good game today. FACT!

He got himself in good positions and could have bagged a hatrick (He even hit the back of the net as well). Bar Suarez his work ethic was unmatched and he tracked back to help out the midfield and defence when required.

Take the blinkers off and don't judge him on previous performances or your opinion of him in terms of quality, but on this game.

I used to bash him, but have since wised up. He needs our support. And credit where it's due.

Adam was our worst buy imo.

We were as usual, unlucky again today, but the result still disgusts me.

Chipkin9 (EIRE)

Carroll did okay today, i'd have to admit. He actually looke very interested.

26 Dec 2011 17:50:28
Fox in the box Kenny!!!
No more wingers playing as strikers!
We need to blow the summer budget on 2 strikers & creative midfielder.
Podolski & Bent for me at a combined cost of £40m.
And go all out for Ozil at £30m if needs be!
Any remaining money on a right winger like Carzola (if he'll move so soon after his most recent transfer) who can actually cross.
Bench Adam, loan out Henderson & Carroll!
Ammy Cammy

Podolski and Bent possibly but do you really think Ozil would want to move to Liverpool while your in this state? Or do you think you'll get Forth spot still?

Shappy

Go forth Shappy, FOURTH it is pal.

Bent is not Pool quality- we need a proven prolific scorer like Soldado ....and quickly

The rate at which we r missing chances, only a striker like higuain can save us.

26 Dec 2011 17:44:21
Only one word for it today - woeful!

Same old story, brain dead players who have no final ball whatsoever. When the odd chance does materialise, we make the keeper look good by making the shot just about reachable instead of despatching it clinically.

I never thought I'd say this but even Suarez is starting to do my head in. Sometimes the simple option is the best, he doesn't have to go for spectacular all time.

I actually think Kenny is what Hodgson was meant to be, a pair of safe hands to steady the ship. I'm losing confidence in him taking us forward. He seems to spend too much time thinking up clever answers in interviews and continually talks up average players, most of whom he signed.

Liverpool won't win the Premiership again until the owners bite the bullet and bring in Mourinho.

redmersey

Agrre Mouriniho. But he needs Huge funds, have we got it?

Hey Shappy, spell "cat". You know the last time I looked fourth had a "u" in it. You need sendings off & pens to bail you out. There's no doubting the drive and quality of your team during your managers reign however he does bully and intimidate his way into better results than you deserve. This is proven by your crappy champions league record during his reign, if Sir Bob Paisley had managed us for 25 years then we'd have won another 10 champions leagues. Just shows your manager can't bully UEFA like he does the FA. Funny how you were quiet when City were 5 points clear? ALB.

26 Dec 2011 17:42:10
Perspective! Let's look at where we were 18 months ago
. The Dallas cowboys were in charge, they sacked a very very good manager who had to work with a minimum transfer budget and could only spend what he sold. We had deals for villa and silva up and ended up with babel and voronin. Not even 2nd rate replacements, all because of those people. Then nesv came to the rescue. 12 months ago we were being labelled with 'no team is too good to go down' because of Roy's negativity and primadonnas not pulling there weight. Roy was sacked and the dead weights sold (for vast profit) then the king returned which 99% of fans wanted) and kk was backed with a large transfer fund albeit 50 mil from the sale of the transvestite that shoots blanks! In a calendar year we have blown opposition out of the water, individual player performances have increased massively, and we are playing very attacking positive football. Results haven't merited performances but 12 months ago to now have seen a meteoric rise LFC. Rome wasn't built in a day but the foundations for the return to the top where we belong have DEFINATELY been dug. Further investment is needed and will come on January. When the moaning starts about 'not finishing teams off' ' is MESSI signing' remember where we were and what we had and look at the improvement. We are on our way back

Are we still stuck in 2009/10? Why do people keep referring to past events to justify for the results of today?! SingRed

Too much christmas cheer, yes things have improved since H&G but were playing worse than we were under Kenny last season and this after a 100M spend

Why do people think its so easy to win the epl or beat a team just coz there bottom. the actions of the previous are why we are behind the top 5 if they had looked after the players we had we would have alonso match Torres silva villa etc in our squad

26 Dec 2011 17:39:41
Good to see the doom mongers are out to slag certain players off again. Its not a case of that. Hendo is a top player and has a great future and his performances are improving all the time. Adam is a quality footballer and is getting better. Downing creates lots of chances but unfortunately cant be on the end of them. Patience is the key not slaggiing certain players off.

Mighty reds

Quite agree mate. Carroll was desperately unlucky today, Downing had a good game and Henderson is improving all the time. No one played badley today - we're just not getting the 'rub of the green'. RED LENIN

Couldn't agree more about Hen doo and Downing, but for me Adam is way overated. He's only got passing ability about him, other than that he's lazy, slow, lethargic, immobile, makes 1 succsessful tackle every 2 games and can't cross his legs.

Just my honest opinion that may not be 100% accurate.

Chipkin9 (EIRE)

I'm sorry, Lenin, but you can't call it "rub of the green". Our strikers unable to find the back of the net is due to poor positioning and lacking that predatory instinct that all strikers have! How would you explain why other teams are banging goals for fun?! SingRed

26 Dec 2011 17:40:34
Right us fans have been loyally supporting LFC for the last 20 years, blindly supporting. And LFC is not giving us a reason to.

Its about time the effort came from the cub as well since us fans are doing all the effort. Yeah we have a couple of cup wins and a champs league, but compare that trophy list to the trophy list of united, Arsenal and chelsea for the last 20 years.

I'm sure someone will roll out that old Shanks quote about supporting through thick or thin, well the club needs to start supporting us. If Shanks were here he would agree with me because Shanks wanted to win, and so do I.

Thick and Thin and blood thicker than water spring to mind. I don't know why.

Are you Think and Water?

Chipkin9 (EIRE)

Whatever Shanks might say, would he be as grumpy as Kenny in saying it?

26 Dec 2011 17:40:15
What has Bellamy done not to deserve a regular place in the team..? Apart from our defence he is the only player to have consistently put in a good performance!

Is Kenny sick in the head? Whats happening to Kennys brain? Is he going Loco? This isn't the Kenny of last season.. Last season he did everything right and more.

If he didn't buy anyone in the summer and kept Merieles we'd be in the top four easy.. We were on to something last year playing 433 banging in goals for fun.. Why try and turn Liverpool back into an over-priced HOdgson team?

But really, How could anyone possibly favour Carrol over Bellamy? I knew it would be one of those days again today when I saw him on the bench. The reason we drew with Wigan was cos of this.. Its time for Kenny to finally exlplain himself and stop this comedy of errors

You actually have no clue at all do ya? Do watch the games? Bellamy's 32, he can't play every game and his knees are dodgy.

So if we done no business in the summer and kept Raul (who wanted out) you would of been happy with Kenny and the owners? So let's say we did no business and in the summer and as you wanted we kept Raul. Pick your starting line up today, 433 formation?

Corkpoolred

PS I look forward to your reply..

Bellamy has a chronic knee problem and needs to be manged with his game time. When people question the kings decisions they are the ones who are 'sick'

OP, your ignorance is embarrassing. Bellarmy can't play successive games because of knee problems. He has to be managed, you numpty.

BooDaBooze

Look forward to this then - When Kenny came in last season his record from January was impeccable.. It was worked out that if the season started in January we'd be 2nd in the league. Basically we were the 2nd best team in the premiership Jan-May.. REMEMBER?! Or were in a coma last season Corkpoolred?

Of course we want signings, but in hindsight we were WAY better during the second half of last season than we are now with the so called improvements to the team. Merieles did not want to leave(check his interviews) Adam was preferred over him.

26 Dec 2011 17:36:17
Whatever happened to fortress Anfield. This is Anfield sign scares nobody anymore, opposing teams now come here not just hoping but believing they can get a result.Absolute s**te.I'm sick of hearing the same old excuses of wasted chances and goalkeepers having the game of their lives,we need a top class finisher and quick or our chance of finishing in the top four will be over by the end of Feb.No c/l football and no chance of attracting the best players in the summer.

hi ed. i have read that liverpool will bid £16.6 million for montelivo in jan. also, they want to get lukas podolski for around £20 million and ozil for the same amount. ozil for the creativity needed in midfiled. {Ed002's Note - Twitter can be an exciting place.}

I doubt that owners are willing to spend big considering the millions KK has wasted.

26 Dec 2011 17:28:52
Stop blaming certain players for bad results.

Is it Carrolls fault most of the balls in were poor?

Is it Downing fault he was told to play RW when he is left footed?

Nope. These things are Dalglishs fault, the manager is culpable for bad tactics and team selection, not the players.

I like Adam but he has cost us points in the last 2 games, penalty miss and an own goal, they all need to get sharper in my opinion. KernowRed

Most of the balls to carrol were not that bad he just cannot hold the ball up for a big man he a bit to lightweight for me time to shave his head and man up lol
JJ

The manger though is not on the pitch may not be a bad idea judging by the players we have!

Eh didn't Downing get Aston Villa's player of the year last season playing on the right? Another clueless keyboard warrior!

Corkpoolred

Adam had a bit of hard look today scoring the own goal and its not just him missing penalties for us. He has scored twice for us in the EPL, having said that, both were shots that were going nowhere near the goal and got deflected in (Wolves and man city). So I think its good to have a player with a little bit of luck on the field.

Scored against West Brom and Bolton too

26 Dec 2011 17:27:18
The seeds of this season were sown when we bought Carroll, Downing, Adam and Henderson for almost £80m. What a load of carp. We should sell Carroll and Downing ASAP. Adam's not too bad as he was fairly inexpensive and would be an ok squad player but it is tragic how much money has been wasted.

Ash

I agree mate except downing is useful for his pace and henderson has potential just give him 2 seasons and he will perform.. it is tragic to see wasted money on players holding our team from CL or europa.

Time has come to ship out kuyt, carrol, downing, even adam, who is a mid table player.

im gona stick up for downing today i think he played really well, just his finishing was poor but the same can be said for the rest of the team. Andy carroll is not good enuf for lfc, did any1 see the header back in from downing someone tell me how interested carroll looked about getting on to it? he had good clear chances and wasted, as for henderson i always said lets give him a chance in the center, when people say hes one for the future you have to have a look and see has he got that quality and answer is no, he will never replace gerrard. charlie adam has been poor, but he would be a good sub, suarez is becoming frustrated he puts in all the effort and no help, then he gets a chance and cant hit the target but i will not criticise him the guy puts in 110% just needs a prolific finisher next to him unfortunately he has andy carroll.RedTurk

Question for you RedTurk. If we sold Carroll in this window and we still never score goals and dont win...who will you blame? Are you honestly trying to tell us that our bad results are all because of Carroll? because thats who you regularly blame.

Well done on the analysis of the game.lol. always around when the results are not so good. i think we pleayed well today just missed that end product. their keeper played well again. we were unlucky. but for once get behind your team. of just jog on.j

Ok mate first of all sign your post, if we sell andy carroll then if we spend the money wisely we might buy a prolific striker who can work well with suarez, the outcome would be 2 top strikers banging in goals together, he is part of the problem mate, everytime he plays we look poor, just have a look at todays game? and i think henderson hasnt done anything to prove himself as some attacking midfielder, playmaker, what is he suppose to be? we already have lucas playing it safe and holding, but what was henderson bought for someone tell me?RedTurk {Ed001's Note - give it up Turk, you are clueless, we battered Blackburn with Carroll playing, we did not look poor except in the eyes of you, who has shown time and time again that they know nothing about football.}

Mr j, how many times do we have to hear we were unlucky or keeper played great today?? get a grip mate, you remind me of the guy who sank with the ship.RedTurk {Ed001's Note - you remind me of the guy who sank the ship with your negative tripe.}

Ed your probably the one who blocks half my posts, this is a banter site not a lets all go blindly down the dark tunnel site. I say what i see, andy carroll had our best chances, unfortunately for him he cant take his chance, now i want every fan who comes on here to tell me, do we look better with or without andy carroll in the team? did anyone watch as downing heads the ball back andy carroll is strolling along the park. As for henderson, can anyone see any kind of resembalance of steven gerrard in him? someone define the guys position please? it goes something like this, il pass side ways and disappear for 75minutes.RedTurk {Ed005's Note - If your posts contain no profanity or anything which can't be posted they'll be posted. Either you do include things which can't be posted, or you are just too lazy to scroll down and look.}

m realy gutted!! what the hell?? just why? why kenny? why lfc?? and why this opposition keeper? they also seems like they put fine porformance against other team but why best against lfc? this is too much!! just can't resist this draw more!! c'mon lad we are surely missing some spark in the team but what? don't know!! one thing for sure poor adam and some great play from downing!! how many of you think that that was best downing game for lfc? and adam deserve the benchfor last 3 game's porformance!! i have really no hope of getting us to top4! but still a long way!! but this result not gonna help us!! 10 points drop against lower sides only drawing!! this is too much! thank you lfc for making my year bitter! really frastuated!!!!! two draw in next two game is written to be held for sure!! still we'll never walk alone!!!!!! sg is bad that the good news!!
red i live and breath for!!!

26 Dec 2011 17:22:26
Never seen so much negativity on here! Yes today was aweful, and we've not been on great form, but if we've been bad so far this season and still made it to January in 6th place, then i'm not all that bothered. Kenny will know where he needs to strengthen, and the owners will provide him with the cash i'm sure. If we can see we are lacking a creative spark and a finisher, what makes you think Kenny can't see it? Carroll is not great i know, but don't write him off after one year. He's struggled to settle and was injured for the first 6 months. Henderson always plays well when hes in the middle. Coates has promise, Enrique and Saurez have been inspired and Craig Bellamy is the best free transfer in our clubs history! Only player i'm genuinely dissapointed with is Downing, hes in the peek of his career and still isn't good enough. 1/7 bad signings? Give Kenny a break.

YNWA! (Adam)

Kenny knew were we needed to strengthen in the summer...and his strengthening was poor. I think the cheque book needs to be taken off him now.

Is this Charlie Adam blowing his own horn?? U were awful tonight mate

Good man

26 Dec 2011 17:19:49
I guess many of you are a little angry right now and are probably frantically typing all sorts of criticisms on your keyboards, but try to see the bigger picture.

Today's game was frustrating and some players' performances were dissappointing, but we played very well on the whole and created a multitude of chances. Unfortunately again we found a stand-in keeper on very good form. The passing is quicker and more accurate and the only difference between a win and a draw is a little bit of luck or an inch either way. The Tottenham game was the only game this season that the opposition had the better of us.

Kenny said that this is a work in progress and he means that we are not going to gain success overnight. So we must be patient with the team as it evolves into what Kenny is after.

Walk On

We've played Fulham lost 3 points, man u play them after us smashed them 5-0, we've played wigan lost 2 points, man u play them after us beat them 5-0, we've played Blackburn lost 2 points, man u will play them next I'm sure they will beat them, these result for the last 3 game it just happened that manu u playing the same team after us, yes keeper made excellent save at the end and defender cleared it off the line but those excuse we have over used this season but we have had well over 20 goal attempts to score at least 2 goals, man we are just not good enough!
We had hoped in this xmas period to be going forward but that is clearly not the case, our next game is home to Newcastle let hope we can manage to beat them since we suppose to have bought their last season best players.

Have a good one
abbs

Clear then isn't it. We are playing the
these teams off the park, their fighting to hold on against us, but we are crushing them and just not scoring.
The week later they are so knackered and
worn down that sh1t teams like manU find no problem to beat them.

I'm staking my house on a 1 - 1 draw against the toon this friday.

I have made a killing on backing Liverpool to draw vs bottom half teams. It IS the most easily predicted result in betting at the moment.

Yeah like we really miss Carrol and Enrique must be why we are a point behind you.
Enrique will drop a couple of clangers for you lot yet hopefully on friday.

26 Dec 2011 17:19:36
i really want to see a highlights reel of all visiting goalkeepers to anfield, must be a pretty amazing video. That must be 5 or so games drawn at home which could have been easily won with a bit of luck or a metre either side of the gk and with those results we're comfortably in the top 4. would ofs and should ofs ... again. gerrard and bellamy changed the game.

suarez looks knackered to me, definately starting to rely on him too much, carrol wasnt bad but went missing and sucks we have to shape our game around him when he gets involved, cause if the cross isnt perfect on his head then wats the use. Samba had a real strong game, probably MOM.

Such a shame for Adam, looking really comfortable the last weeks apart from the pen miss, i bet he couldnt do it again from 100 more attempts so definately unlucky.

Im really not too sure what the next step is.. honestly i think a clinical striker obviously, but do we have the funds or immediate future to pull a brilliant player in like we did with torres, the only strikers id take in would have to have strength like cavani or possibly falcao or hulk thier size would be great to deal with samba, shawcross and the like, not gonna end up with them tho, so lets gamble on this de jong, could be a gem. reative mid in the likes of a playmaking shot taker, at times tonight they pushed too many passes and should of pulled the trigger, who knows but cant be worse then ngog abd poulson??

sory for dragging just frustrated as im sure u must all be.

Changes needed from the management to some of the expensive dross on the pitch. Just not surprised anymore don't even get upset anymore or my life would be just miserable. Can't see anymore good signings in jan because who would want to join unless we are going to pay massive wages. Hopefully same as last seasons finish in the top 10

dont even get me started abt today s performance!!
i m praying for arsenal to draw or lose!

26 Dec 2011 17:13:44
YOH!! Is roy still in charge? Henderson and Adam need to be benched. Carrol needs to be played in cup games. The rest of the team need a christmas wakeup call. Man U always pick their game up at this time of year and no surprise they won 5-0 at Wigan where we drew.

Trishan

Did you really ask if roy was still in charge?? mate u must be hammered

No united were at home today & when we played wigan they were at home.
TIZER RED

Home or Away should not matter against a side in the relegation zone if you are eyeing a CL spot.

26 Dec 2011 17:13:24
once again we show why we are an average team, a team full of average players bar Suarez and Gerrard. Who are we kidding when we think we will get 4th. Reality is we will be lucky to get 6th and this will be the story next season also.

To be fair, reina, agger and skyrtel are not bad, even johnson and enrique are pretty good, add maxi and bellamy to that, the rest should be benched and bring the youth in or buy some quality.RedTurk

Why do people always say suarez and gerrard. Agger , Reina and Enrique are absolute class.

Tom.

It now looks certain that we aren't going to get into Top 4. Only we can hope of something miraculous happening in our favour. Too bad, we created many chances but yet only one goal. they got that with probably the only shot they had. Very disappointed.

26 Dec 2011 17:10:21
Don't get me wrong, I love Liverpool FC as much as the next guy on here but, why can't we beat these "smaller" sides? Why is it that the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal, Manchester City and Spurs can seemingly brush aside these teams? Just look at Manchester United today, they scored 5 past Wigan. Arsenal tomorrow will ease past Wolves and Spurs will most likely put up a good performance against Norwich to show their top four credentials. What I would like to know, why can't we beat these teams? This seasons is riding on if's and but's - "if we had beaten these smaller teams" and "but they had everyone behind the ball". Why can't we win?

lil_elf

Other teams have goals coming from all over the pitch and most of them have a true goalscorer in the team.
JJ

Fed up of keepers having absolute blinders against us as well.
when i saw robinson out today i thought 'finally, no chance of the happening again'.
seems like the top 3 saves so far this season have all been against us.

The problem is m8 we see them as a small them (as you did) that's why we can not beat them, every team worth 3 points just like the next doesn't matter how small or big they are, once we realize that will start beating them.

Unfortunately certain players that have been bought to help us achieve this simply aren't good enough, lets hav a look at henderson he should be playing the gerrard role in the center but he is afraid to attack, adam is too slow, and andy carroll is better in defence.RedTurk

Have you ever sat and thought that you maybe on par with these teams and when you play United, Chelsea, Arsenal & City you play out of your skins as those fixtures are your cup finals? Just a thought ;)

Disney!

No point asking the question here mate because most people will say "we will see where we are end of the season". i agree with supporting the team winning or losing but whats not a good performance has to be pointed out. And the truth is we shud have beaten the likes of bburn, wigan swansea etc to be a contender for top 4. As much as i hate to say this Spurs are playing much better than us. and so are arsenal who were written off beginning of the season.

For me, Suarez is turning into a play-maker rather than a striker. This only leaves one or two strikers: Carroll and Bellamy. Bellamy must start every game, our wingers should get to the byline and whip the ball in, just like Manchester United, same applies to our attacking full backs. Our midfield should die for the team and make sure they run the game.

I am not one for wishing but I honestly do wish we get a proper right winger, not a right forward, but, a speedy right winger who would cross the ball high or low even if the player isn't a world beater, but a player that would do his job correctly and consistently. An attacking midfield player who would make that killer pass to cut open an opposition's defence. Finally a striker that can finish - he doesn't have to be £30+ million striker, but a striker that can finish.

A great example of this is Gary Hooper for Celtic. He isn't no Cavani, Villa or Falcao but, he does know where the goal is and how to just place it past the goalkeeper. It doesn't matter if he plays in a league where defenders and goalkeepers aren't world class, all that matters is that he can find the back of the next more often than not.

lil_elf

'JJ'

So in that case you have to say that Kenny has got his signings all wrong then, haven't you? You had funds available and Kenny was in charge of who came it, if those players are not good enough, doesn't that make Kenny a failure so far? Suarez out for a minimum of eight games, Gerrard finished, Carragher f@t. Do you have the squad to get you CL footy? I am not so sure.

I don't know whether am putting 2+2 together and getting 25 but am wondering if ed's , macca could shed some light on my Mourinho debate.

He said that he's hoping to return to England in 2 years , well in 2 years that is when Dalglish's contract is up.

Mourinho has been known praising the Liverpool fans for how great their support is etc.

I would much rather Dalglish extend his contract thought as i love and respect him for every he has/is achieved/achieving at Liverpool.

Tom. {Ed001's Note - not happening.}

Ed do you see Mourinho replacing Fergie?.

Tom. {Ed002's Note - It depends on lots of things, but he is certainly not the first choice that Manchester United came up with.}

He'll replace Sir Whiskey Nose

Coxy82

Mourinho will either go back to Chelsea,
Can't see AVB lasting 2 years there. Or
will go to ManCity. Jose needs money to
build a football side. So I think that rules out Liverpool and ManU.

26 Dec 2011 17:09:25
Lacklustre performance cannot break teams down-we urgently need a creative m/f a striker and an out an out winger although I thought downing played well today-great to see Stevie back and he made a difference.feel a bit for Carroll who has to go chasing because of our lazy midfield.

26 Dec 2011 17:12:57
Didn't see the game today
Genuine question. Why are we so s**te?

Coxy82

We played good attacking football , the finishing wasn't there and the keeper made a great save 93rd minute and the ball was cleared of the line 94th minute , just unfortunate like usual.

Tom.

Pardon my french

26 Dec 2011 17:12:53
we did it again!!!!!
Our midfield cant carry the team ADAM isnt a lfc player never was and never will be.
henderson is too young but will come good.
downing played realy well today so did skrtl and agger.
we need another midfielder and a striker

26 Dec 2011 17:08:01
Damn...When our luck changes lads!

Super human save second to last kick of the game, one off the line last kick of the game.

Yes we were poor, but with a bit of luck we'd have snatched it.

Downing was quality today and Carroll, with some luck, could've had 2 goals.

Great to see Stevie back.

Keep going Andy son, and show them "supporters" you've got what it takes to win our hearts.

Matt S - YNWA

Seems like every week we say, "with a bit of luck..., "keepers pulled of brilliant saves...etc.

How come these keepers only do it against us??

Kenny OUT.. You are stubborn.. Blind.. Foolish.. It's torture being a liverpool fan.. Kenny you did a good job last season, and i have always had a faith in you.. But now i feel like a fool for having trusted you.

Why play Downing and Carrol every single home game? We have a poor record at home because of this and yet you continue to play a team that doesn't work. We won 2 games in a week at Chelsea. Surely that is an indication of what a winning formula is.. ie Bellamy is our best player and must be the first name on the team sheet..

Suarez is wasted and isolated and will surely want to leave soon, cos this is turning into a joke. Most games we play like we have 9 men. Am i the only one who sees this? NO! Kenny wake up! You are making a fool of yourself! I really hope we don't spend any more money. Because no matter who is in the squad Kenny doesn't want to play the best starting XI.. Sorry for the rant and MERRY XMAS EVERYONE..

Bellamy cant play lots of games due to his knees. Thats why.

26 Dec 2011 17:07:40
Pathetic!
Absolutely pathetic result!
No excuses!
Seriously need to question the clubs attacking coaching.
Do they actually do shooting practice?
A draw at home to the bottom team is normally a poor result, when it's at home to the bottom team in a crisis of form, results, team spirit & civil war we seriously have to ask the question: Are Liverpool a team in crisis?
One goal at home against the bottom club, missing countless chances AGAIN - this is not being addressed by the coaches it seems.
I could go on but am fed up dealing with lack of effort from some of the squad.
Downing, Adam, Henderson, Agger, Enrique, Maxi, Carroll, all showed shocking form again today!
How many more easy points must we drop before some glaring problems are addressed.
Have a team meeting or something to discuss the lack of effort, do something for f sake, not brush it under the carpet as usual Kenny!
Pathetic!
Ughhh!!!
Ammy Cammy.

26 Dec 2011 17:06:41
Shocking result. Not the worst performance, but a SHOCKING result. A goal scorer is badly needed in January. I still think top four is a possibility but it is fading week by week, 2 points taken from Wigan(a) and Blackburn(h) is an atrocious return. Come on lads stick the ball in the bloody net!

davethebutcher

26 Dec 2011 17:05:29
Our lack of conviction is really starting to slim any hope we have of top 4. There's no 2 ways about it, we are desperately in need of a finisher. Personally, I'd love Darren Bent but that's just my opinion.
Thanks all,
A disappointed Hooch.

26 Dec 2011 17:05:28
Bring back Roy Hodgson..at least we knew we were sh@t then. Now we think we r better than what we actually r...diabolical... And dont give me any sh@te would of should ve scored their goal keeper saved this that n the other...we r awful. no motivation. Worst first half ever. Second was marginally better. We r talking about playing a bottom of the table team. Last weeks nil all team wigan just got smashed by a reserve man u team.... One year on and only our style of play has improved

Sad and now angry red

26 Dec 2011 17:04:35
we have to play like man utd two wingers thats all they practice in training constant crosses when they warm up the same thats why they flatten the lesser teams . its percentages they have always played you get the ball in the box 20 times they will get 3 at least and it doesnt have to be high balls . get to the byline

26 Dec 2011 17:04:31
No doubt the Dalglish romanticists will harp on about, more time. King Kenny is the man. Work in progress, and will probably shoo any fan with a slightly critical opinion. Some people are blind, they hide behind old quotes and beleagured hope.

The truth is Dalglish has failed to beat many of the bottom teams.

The truth is his tactics and team selection in each game, as well his ability to motivate his players, is questionable at the very least.

The truth is he is a fine figure of anfields past, and perhaps should stay as part of its past before he ruins the good reputation he has. At times he seems like a man out of time, his methods may have worked wonders in the 80's but this isnt the 80's and he clearly doesnt have the same ability he had, as in the 80's we wouldve swept these teams away like dust. Today (and many other days) we did not.

We may be a work in progress, but judging on many performances this season our progress is extremely slow. At this rate of progression Dalglish will pass away before his plans come to fruition. I dont fancy waiting until I'm 80 before I see us even finish in the top 4 nevermind win a league.

There will be many fans who will respond to this post praising Dalglish, supporting Dalglish, having warm fuzzy romantic feelings and sentiment about his last stint in charge. Romance and sentiment are best saved for girly films and Danielle Steel books. Football is a results game, and he is not getting them.

How to judge a manager - Do they acheive expected results? Yes? Good Manager. No? Bad Manager.

Now does dalglish acheive the results you expect?

I agree with the tactics and team selection something has to be changed

26 Dec 2011 17:04:07
noone knows how to kick a ball, thats what we need in jan

26 Dec 2011 17:04:04
soooooooo frustrated, i think i broke my keyboard.............. liverpool owe me a new keyboard

26 Dec 2011 17:03:45
Chelsea fan here, dont worry i come in peace, any of you get get the feeling we're doing eachother a massive favour in sharing the spotlight. I mean lets be honest, we're both garbage. Hate to think what it would be like had it not been for Arsenals shocking start aswel. Looks like we'll se you in the Europa next year boys

LIAM

We beat u guys twice this season, were a little bit better then garbage ;)

Fancy Andy Carroll for 20 mill?

Europa?
You must be kidding?!
We're heading for mid table obscurity at this rate.
As soon as our away form slips we're in big trouble!
Ammy Cammy

At least Abramovich will make funds available to strengthen Chelsea, will Henry?

Does Henry have the money?

Has Kenny blown our immediate chances with the dross he bought last summer?

May be we'll have to wait for the young lads to come through the reserves on a more positive light this is one aspect where Liverpool appear to be doing well.

This "ones" for the future (such as Henderson) is a joke, we need players for now!

dark shadow

26 Dec 2011 17:03:30
We play good football but no end product. Please we need more creativity and a decent finisher Blackburn at home ? That's a joke and I'm one of the so called blind faith fans. Kenny get it going.

26 Dec 2011 17:02:25
It's about time KK held up his hands and admit Carroll was a massive mistake. It's ok coming out with statements saying he's one for the future but am sorry as much as I love KK Carroll will never ever be the striker KK believed he would be.

Forget the price tag he can't help that, the guys just not even a typical Liverpool player either, he's absolute s**t. Very poor control of the ball, useless in the air, cannot tackle, can't shoot for toffee, can't string a decent pass..

Not good enough time to cut there losses and invest in a new striker in January and get rid of Carroll ASAP....

The Grand wizard...

I kind of agree with you but i have to remember that i once slated Lucas for being so pants yet he turned out fine. Maybe the same will happen with Carrol?

I can see Carroll scoring a few goals in the second half of the season once he gets some confidence, he would have put them chances away with confidence.

At least stand by your players instead of calling for there head at christmas of his first real season for us.

He has a 5 year contract give him a break.
Conor

He was unlucky today and should have scored.

i can't even be bothered with this site today. i've only read one post and that's negative. every week its the same, kenny out, sell andy asap.

yes its a devastating result but we never lost and steve g's back.

bring on newcastle.

unlucky today andy, gona put a tena on you to score first against ya old club.

He is average not a liverpool number 9 and when he turned his back on the ball in the game that said it all really he needs to get switched on or sold.

26 Dec 2011 17:01:48
Andy Carroll starts so.........

....Downing,Enrique and Johnson decide to show that they all have the inability to pass or cross a ball.We need to get back to basics and do away with these big named Charlies.
Good enough?..............my arse.

26 Dec 2011 17:01:41
Nothing left to say that's already been said. Would have been embarassing had Maxi not equalized. Mancs winning at a canter made it more painful. That's all. SingRed

26 Dec 2011 17:01:39
Id rather play an un fit steven gerrard than a fully fit jordan henderson. All i keep hearing hes one for the future he might very well be bt y keep starting him at the moment he serves no purpose to are midfield apart from making the numbers up.

Dont get me started on carroll id cut my loses with him he jus Doesnt look interested in playin for us.

And adam i thinkin we could of bought better for his position I.E javi martinez.

ACHILLES.

26 Dec 2011 17:00:40
We Have no chance of 4th , we are garbage , downing is avagrage and as for Henderson and Adam Carrol did Ok but another good keeper
Suarez is a liability needs 50 shots to score , and when the easy pass is on he shoots and shoots and misses
I love Dalglish , but he has wasted some serious cash on very avarage players and we all know it but coz it's him don't critizize 1-1 with wigan 1-1 with blackburn 0-1 to fulham just about beat QPR Be honest Liverpool Fans Kenny is getting is Very Very worng at the moment

26 Dec 2011 17:00:01
another embarrasing result for liverpool which just shows for all the money we spent were still nt good enuf.
adam- nt gud enuf
caroll-waste of money
downing-waster
suarez not prolofic enuf.
overall liverpool need to scrap buying british players which just arent gud enuf. we need to buy eriksen podollki/soldado a.johnson and fernando of porto. they may cost money bt if we want top four we need to spend money and sell the wasters
irish red

If only the solution was that easy and if only Henry had the money, does he?

26 Dec 2011 16:59:26
I know people are going to call me a bad fan etc... But I'm really losing patients with downing, if he has low confidence play it simple. There is no need to try to smash the ball.

Enrique even though the player that he is, I thought that he didn't have a good game today. Lost the ball on occasion made the wrong decision alot of the time. Carroll is there as a presence in the air if anything else so why don't you cross it to him instead of ballooning it over!

Good to see gerrard back. Looked deadly.
If anything downing needs to be put LW as then he doesn't need to cut in as much.. It doesn't work for him.

All credit to Blackburn they defended passionately feel sorry for kean hasnt done that bad a job... Very good performances from some young players there.

Sorry if you think I am being too harsh.

The Southern Red

A few months ago I said Downing was not LFC standard, I said he was a confidence player who only played well when things where going well, some people told me Downing was Aston Villas best Player and he would be be awesome., I'm sorry buy 2nd rate players get 2nd rate results.. Sorry Downing, Carroll, Adam are +60m of garbage, hope FSG see this and we buy some real quality!

Not a great result today but a point is better than none. I suppose patience is the key and we didnt realise how bad that rafa and hodgson left us. But if we continue to create chances we will be ok. Maybe sign a finisher in jan and a right sided player we will be fine.

As i said patience is the key and we will be fine.

Mighty reds

It is good blame everybody but the manager. what does rafa and roy have to do with a collection of average players (100m worth) that kk bought? lets face it, i have been saying since the beginning of the summer and i will say it again, the buys are not good enough. kk bought poorly and wasted money. i didnt want to make any comment because of kk army here but your accusation of rafa and roy prompted this response.......kk carries the blame all day everday.

26 Dec 2011 16:58:49
todays game was effing dreadful. charlie adam had no quality of passing or shooting and in my opinion is not liverpool material and have thought that since we picked him up. We need to spend the big $$ to make sure we tuck away those easy goals. if we fork out 35 mil for carroll we can surely afford a striker with ability to finnish.. truely sad

26 Dec 2011 16:58:04
Curse of goalkeeper strikes again.feel sorry for caroll he could have had 2 goal at least any other day. i have never seen that many great displays by goalkeepers against in one single season and we are just reaching half way.

Maybe the stikers are just that bit poorer than the keepers??

Dude wake up, its ok to say that the opposition goal keeper had a blinder once or twice
but it cannot happen week in week out it simply means that our shooting is pathetic

26 Dec 2011 16:57:49
We have a huge problem infront of goal there is no masking it now they lfc now better get some proven goalscorers because this is becoming a serious problem when you cannot beat the team in the bottom of the table.
I am very dissappointed this is a wake up call for a proven striker to be bought because as Suarez is very skilled but he cannot find the net, we need to get a 20 million plus goalscorer, all these missed chances that go begging is the players fault , if you do not find the net it is no good for us. Unfortunately more money has to be spent there is no other way about this.

starting to get freaked out with kk why the f..f does he keep playing carrol?

Carroll's been on the bench the lst 2-3 games...

He should'nt be playing at all never sprint's for a ball just jogs happy to be on telly i guess

26 Dec 2011 16:56:53
This is embarrassing now, never mind the save from the keeper at the end or the clearance off the line. To not win today is simply not good enough. Newcastle will not becoming to scrap a draw they'll be aiming for all three points.

26 Dec 2011 16:56:44
poor poor result we could have been equal with chelsea however remember we are only a win off 4th place if we can get a few decent enough players in JANUARY then we may get that win whilst chelsea and arsenal slip up lfc are just looking for that vital striker.
p.s carroll didnt do much wrong an odd pass or two but thats it. how many of the crosses actualy reached him. H

Maybe just maybe our strikers dont do as well.

we have to play like man utd do . watch there games its cross after cross into the penalty area thats all they practice constant crosses . they play the percentages get 20 crosses in well get two of them at least . thats why we desperately need a right winger .

26 Dec 2011 16:55:19
Gutted? we are where we deserve to be

Give Carrol a run in d FA cup where 0-0 after 90mins is still a good result

Trishan

Carroll had a good game mate or didn't you watch?

Chuck Norris

The Andy Carrol project is finish kenny.. stop start him.

Chuck..What game where you watching at the time I made that comment. I'm not saying he is a bad player, just saying he needs a run in the cup games to get some confidence. He disrupts the whole flow of the game when he starts. That sed, he got NO service today whatsoever. Downing should have been on the left.

Carroll was decent an unlucky not too score, that's the game I watched. Agree with the Downing comment, irritates me no end him on the right all game.

Chuck Norris

26 Dec 2011 16:20:15
I usually dont criticise liverpool and Im not even watching the match but hearing the commentators describe how poor were playing is depressing me, we spent quite alot of money on players and yet they are not paying off plus what is LFC's deal with shooting practise we cant shoot for s**t

MJ

Frustrating to watch Liverpool at home...so wasteful and last ball often going astray. We're also deperate for a world class winger and striker. Without these we're average.

26 Dec 2011 16:19:52
Wouldlike to see Downing on the left!

LIke to see him at another club garbage

26 Dec 2011 16:16:51
enrique has been the poorest man on the pitch for the second game running, hi passing has been awful

Agreed enrique was very poor today... that said so was Adam, Henderson and others.. They all need to work on their passing, crossing and shooting.

26 Dec 2011 16:16:24
can andy carroll jump that is the question?RedTurk

Thought carroll had a good game. Once again some great saves. Well done carroll

first of all hope everyone had a good day yesterday.

Good goal by Maxi, i know people will say right place right time but that isn't luck its a skill to continuously be there.
Nice to see Kenny has given some of the players a kick up the backside during half time.
Not that i'm criticizing Kenny but surely if Downing and Carroll are on the pitch at the same time Downing has to be on the left hand side?

always a red

I agree 100%. Caroll hasnt been in the game by no fault of his own

Carroll had a good game today, nearly was the hero.

I think Downing was our best player (even playing on the right which confugulates me)

can we win this game...if we cant then it just shows we need a bit more quality

the mancs won 5-0 against a bottom side we only drew with, we draw with blackburn a club in a dire condition with their fans hurling abuse at the manager each week, Adam not good enough to play for liverpool. Playing Andy Carroll and not giving him service. Only good thing about today was that Chelski drew also and Stevie G returned. The way Suarez with his class and skill gets pissed off with the muck around him reminds me of someone else this time last year.
Now you will have blind supporters come on here and say, we should have had a penalty this , should have been a free out not a corner for their goal that, but this is football and the only thing that matters is the score at the final whistle. Buy Buy Buy.

We have a right to be this way, We expect better!

26 Dec 2011 16:05:20
Why is Carroll playing for liverpool,He is a big donkey who wouldnt even get in the Blackburn team.We have a very good keeper and defence, world class striker in suarez and world class midfielder in Gerrard but the rest are s**te and that is the problem.

26 Dec 2011 16:02:06
Why Liverpool ever take advantage when other teams around us lose points?
If they lose 2 points we normally go one step better and lose all three.
Let's hope we can change that today in the second half.
abbs

26 Dec 2011 16:00:45
Going to be tough now, as Blackburn will surely park the bus. However, a heroic comeback will set the tone for 2012.

Goals: Suarez, Downing, Gerrard.

You heard it!

Coop

We have all wished that m8

26 Dec 2011 15:58:46
OMG I hope we inject some life in to midfield, we could take these apart.

Get Bellamy and Gerrard on please Kenny.

We can still do it keep the faith.

26 Dec 2011 15:56:19
Not usually one to critisize but 1st half shocking.seems every player on there struggling no one wants any responsibility apart from luis and he over doing it trying to carry us.Obviously need our captain to show the wayjust hope he is fit enough for 2nd half or this is going to be another massive dissapointment.

26 Dec 2011 15:56:16
Totally gobsmacked! Can anyone still justify that insipid first half performance?!

0-1 down at Anfield to the worst team in the league - same old story - making loads of chances (well some) but not even close to putting them away.

Also this internet is driving me mad!

FT

26 Dec 2011 15:54:57
Geeze...i said it was one of the worst performances this season and that was before the goal. Once again the staff have failed to raise the boys for a poor team.... I now think its staff problems that is hindering us...not to mention Carrols poor form

Sad red

26 Dec 2011 15:54:55
I knew it. Pathetic

Moan moan moan

26 Dec 2011 15:54:46
All the talk today of Blackburn not winning at Anfield since 1993 a fact NEVER spoken about yet, all of a sudden they are winning at Liverpool. This happens time and again in football a fact is bought up about long standing runs then voila something like this happens. Only since the "premier league/sky sports era" joke.

26 Dec 2011 15:54:24
OMG suarez...can you pass the damn ball. Nice Goal by Charlie Adam.

26 dec 2011 15:53:58
just on to days performance 3 players that dont deserve to wear the liverpool shirt on there backs;
adam
henderson
carroll

achilles

26 Dec 2011 15:53:55
In trouble now, don't get a penalty, Agger gets a push in the back and the ref gives a corner. I am 33 had three ops on my knee and still reckon I could go around Charlie Adam ( so poor defensively, nice own goal) Downing is playing well but its time to risk Stevie G with himself and Spearing replacing Henderson and Adam. On the first have performance we will be doing well to get a draw as no doubt Blackburn will throw everyone behind the ball.

26 Dec 2011 15:53:50
Getting beat off Blackburn now ... The season can't get any worse.

26 Dec 2011 15:53:21
charlie adam is a liability how many points his he going to cost us before he getts droped?

26 Dec 2011 15:53:10
If Dalglish loses to blackburn today I think that the media and also the owners would definitely start to scrutinise his performance as manager more closely. His results against lesser teams is simply not good enough. Even Woy wouldve beaten this blackburn team. They are one of the worst sides I have ever seen.

26 Dec 2011 15:53:03
Come on reds we need a massive second half but we can do it. Lets have a big performance and get the win. Come on reds keep playing your football.

26 Dec 2011 15:53:01
We are a joke. Blame Kenny Blame Camoli Blame Carroll who is a step back from Ngog Blame fat Adam who is a lazy so and so Blame Henderson who is a poor footballer Blame Kenny again for playing Carroll v Samba We r JOKE !

26 Dec 2011 15:52:41
hendersson n carroll just baffles me , not good enough no matter what anyone says, id play shelvey instead of him, why oh why change the team that started at villa, shades of rafa at the end here, play your best team n thats that!!!fcking sooooooo frustrated
5 gold stars

26 Dec 2011 15:52:41
Please please take of Suarez and Henderosn , its not there day Suarez just wastes every attack
Suarez takes the ball of a player onside when he is of he is a joke

26 Dec 2011 15:52:37
I'm not one to mock any Liverpool team, but we are rubbish. Glad Blackburn scored, maybe we will press harder 2nd half. Seems we only play well against top half teams.

26 Dec 2011 15:48:21
Sick of us, we are terrible, we can't hit a barn door. Suarez isnt as good as everyone makes out, he is skillful and sets up plenty but he doesnt score enough. We need a finisher

26 Dec 2011 15:47:53

Mourinho's has sent 'come and get me' noise to England.
Although he wants one more season at Real, it appears he wants an English club to stay, settle and retire at.

Gaurdiola also recently stated he wants to come to England to manage.

Gaurdiola is wanted by United to replace Fergusson but Mourinho also wants the job but has also stated he would like a London club or a Merseyside one. That's pretty obvious as London and Merseyside seen to create the most success.

My question to Ed is .. Where do you see these two going any why?
If Dalglish wasn't doing as good as he is then I would seriously put Liverpools name into the hat . But I think Kenny is doing a great job and will stay for a long while {Ed002's Note - There is no plea from either manager just answers to questions that have been asked by the press. Certainly there is nothing decided for either and no point in speculation. Mourinho of course remains close to Chelsea but will not interfere whilst AVB is manager.}

26 Dec 2011 15:50:06
Can suarez just not for once play some simple passes instead of shooting

26 Dec 2011 15:49:20
top 4 my a*&....carroll cnt win a header,adam is clueless so is henderson {Ed001's Note - the only player who is clueless is Johnson, he has been the reason our attacks break down, he is caught stood still every time anyone looks to pass in his direction. Adam has played some brilliant passes, Henderson has been doing well, Carroll has only got balls played directly at him, so he is having to make a standing jump while Samba is able to run from behind and jump to beat Carroll.}

26 Dec 2011 15:49:16
Yh Adam scored the own goal but why was Agger about for? just clear it for a throw in idiot.

Get Gerrard on we need to attack attack attack nothing less then a win today.

Tom.

26 Dec 2011 15:32:42
It's going to be another one of those days I think

Actually we play much better and then draw.

Surely u mean seasons. At least we would top a table of wasting money on worthless players...

No prob with Suarez doing everything on his own, if he scores... His finishing has been rubbish for a while now. Please move Downing to the left ffs.

Chuck Norris

26 Dec 2011 15:32:07
steven gerrard for andy carroll please.RedTurk

We are 1-0 down why take off a striker for a midfielder?

Tom.

Get real mate u can't seriously hate him that much he's only had 1 proper chance

Gerrard for Maxi, Downing to the left, Gerrard right. Give Carroll some more time then if nothing bring on Bellamy.

Chuck Norris

Not saying i agree with turk, but i think he means play Stevie g just behind Suarez. That system wont work with our current squad. All the best.

26 Dec 2011 14:40:10
Oh dear oh dear.. How can KK not play Bellamy!????!! Every game Bellers does something and he's liverpool and has passion for the club.. we score goals and win.. him and suarez are a great combination.. i'm getting tired of groaning most weeks when i see the starting line-up.. KK seems to want to make the same mistakes over and over.. i don't understand it.. Why do we have a such a good defense? Cos he plays our best defenders/goalkeeper week in week out.. Why can't he use a winning formula for the rest of the team? Anyway lets hope i'm proven wrong and Carrol bags a hatrick today :-) But if it clearly isn't working by 50mins in please please make an early sub Kenny! Change the game when it still can be changed not with 5 mins to go

There is plenty of season left to play and remember ... most of the new players are attacking players/midfielders and strikers .

Every player will get a fair shake and be in the best shape near the end of the season .

It is tougher to find a consistent attack when most of the attackers are brand new - but they will all settle down at the same time with Kenny Dalglish's generous management .

Sounds like an excuse. Play your best 11 and let them gel. Time to stop the excuses and start playing properly now.

Chuck Norris

Buy the looks of it Andy couldnt bag a shopping bag

It's just a long term initiative that's coming along well . LFC is bit too big for excuses ... Looking forward to the 'pay off' the more Kenny & his players work together - bring on the next 20 league games .

26 Dec 2011 14:38:03
Once again thank you macca. Although The news you give may not please people, at least it's got a good source and I thank you for that.

Merry christmas.

26 Dec 2011 14:34:06
Just a quick note to say thanks to Macca. Correct as usual, Stevie G is on the bench. Carroll is upfront and I can't help but think that Gerrard on the right whipping in some crosses onto his noggin would be the sort of service the big man needs.

26 Dec 2011 14:29:04
I Really like the balance of the team today . Maxi & Downing wide with 2 up front - great chance for Maxi & Carroll to further their season .

26 Dec 2011 14:28:08
A real attacking line up today i think we can get a few goals today but as long as we win thats the most important thing. Good to see Carroll and Suarez up front. Also fantastic news that Stevie G is on the bench. Great call by macca cheers for the info.

6 pts needed from next two home games. gives us 36 pts. with new players bedded in and sg coming back. suarez looming ban is only black mark on first halk of season. we still are work in progress, just look at man city, took them 3 seasons with new owners to get where they are.
we have a decent squad now and my wish is that we sign players of proven quality. one in jan, maybe one in summer. i know cl football is a must for some players to sign, could be a problem at the moment. signing english players is a long term thing, only signing not performing at moment is a carroll. only 22 and will be given time. he will come good.
cl qualificiation and a cup this season and we are up and running, kenny is doing a fantastic job. as i said one top signind in jan and sg back so things looking up. one league defeat since middle sept, yes maybe a few draws too many. spurs chelsea and arsenal at home to come, our rivals for third and fourth spot.
there will be bumps along the way but lets support our beloved Liverpool. get back our rightful place as english no 1 team.
in europe barca will probably equal our 5 ec titles, amazing as they won first title in 1992, so well done to barca now a true european force. back in 92 r madrid had 6 ec and we had 4 ec in second place, now we have 5 but are in third place.
new committed owners, no debt, king kenny at helm and new stadium on way, things are looking up.

I was enjoying watching him and then the injury. Anyways lets batter Blackburn...if we can that is lol

Ed any more news on strikers, seem to be a lot of rumours about luuk de jong? i would be suprised if they were true, as you have said we are unlikely to move for him unless other clubs try and get him {Ed001's Note - but a lot of clubs are looking at him closely, so it would not be surprising if we bid for him in January.}

26 Dec 2011 12:04:09
What would people think about a swap between Suarez and Higuian and ozil ? only a thought

I'd love it as part of a rotation system at LFC.

Hi eds and macca, merry xmas, just wanted to know if the eds and macca are still confident of Gerrard being in the squad today? ssn saying his ankle to be assessed any further news? cheers {Ed001's Note - as far as I am aware he is likely to be on the bench, though I haven't been in touch with anyone to find out if there have been any setbacks over the last couple of days.}

He is on the bench, bring him on last 20 if poss..

Cheers

Looks as though McCleish has admitted that Bent could be sold in Jan for right offer (bbc etc) So I believe all the rumours this week that Bent could be coming to us are true? I know QPR interested but Unless Bent wants to go back to London for personal reasons I would have thought he would Jump at joining Liverpool? What do you think and what do you think is a fair price that Villa would except and what we would pay? Would Villa deal with us after the Downing transfer? Great site and YNWA.

I believe 18 mill price has been banded about. I like Bent but he is a £12-15 mill player, at that price i would have him.

I still have not seen enough of De Jong to judge him. Only Youtube clip thus far, so not ideal to judge a player on. All the best.

What is the likelihood of us getting another striker or creative midfielder? If we do get any I feel Defoe or podolski are our best shouts for strikers and Christian eriksen in midfield. But what are the chances of us getting him because he will surely be very expensive due to his age and stature in Europe... And scum will probably want him as well

26 Dec 2011 09:20:03
hi guys great website. if players come in January, will they be able to play in the Carling cup and fa cup games?. Thank you :) {Ed002's Note - I depends where they are signed from. If a player has appeared in the competitions already this season then no.}

if we do go for podolski, i wouldnt mind us going for marko marin as well. or marco reus.

Kaizer

We haven't had a german in the team since Didi Hammann :P Perhaps its just coincidence but that was the last time we won a major competition (Champions League) to!

Podolski, Ozil and Reus would be immense for us! Marin blows hot and cold, but hes an amazing little player.
