Use our rumours form to send us liverpool transfer rumours.

We should be very proud of our team yesterday and in answer to that person in tv saying we beat the reserve team of mancity , I think it is us that played below strength with no Suarez and No Lucas and no brilliant subs on the bench that cost us millions! what do you all think? people are just scared this could be the return os Paisley's era of trophies again, jealousy!
hibsylfc

I concur, and mayby one or two more positions sorted out, prob in the summer, and a year for some under their belts, i think the future of LFC is right on track! theres still alot of games left to play in the EPL too, so you never know!

Soldado - Wont arrive, too much money for us this January. (Maybe in the Summer if we get 4th.)

Cavani - Not a chance, there are teams like City and Madrid who would be interested if a club made a formal offer, id say stop the rumours but its a rumours site haha.

Sow - If we wanted him, we'd have made our move by now as he has a reasonable price and wont require huge wages, so I dont see this ever happening.

De Jong - There's genuine interest, but unless somebody makes a bid for him we will probably wait til the summer (Just a knowledgeable assumption.)

Krasic - Wont be signing, too much of an ego.

Adam Johnson - We spent alot on Downing, we wont be spending another £20m on Johnson or any winger this window.

Hleb - This one made me laugh, dont know where this rumour started probably tw*tter but I dont see why we would want him.

Isla - In all fairness I dont know alot about him, probably because I dont play fifa as much as some people who seem to know everything about him.

Ive seen alot of other names but these are probably the most mentioned of the last few days, Im expecting something to happen, it always does on deadline day (not expecting any player above £10-15m)

With us being at loggerheads with the FA, in recent weeks. How cool and ironic would it be, if we lifted their trophy? Lol

Probably as ironic as Arsene Wenger saying premier league club shouldn't be able to loan players over 21 to each other. Yet he doesn't mind taking Yossi of Chelsea's hands for a bit. Lol

It's carslberg who does that advert not carling mate

I love to win the FA Cup and send Luis up to accept it from Gordon Taylor :) {Ed002's Note - I assume you don't know who Gordon Taylor is - and why would he be giving out teh FA Cup?}

He's the Chief Executive of the PFA and backed the decision against Suarez (almost to the point where he 'implied' he should be made an example of) and there is no particular reason he would be giving out the cup. Just my whimsical fantasy - I will try my best to fit it into your version of reality next time Ed002 .

Am I the only Liverpool fan who likes Carroll. Yes we paid a lot for him and yes he has not scored many but let's face it he hasn't had the supply and we are not playing to his strengths. Get a winger with a good end product and between them and Stevie we should see some goals from Andy. I reckon people need to lay off the lad and give him the support he deserves as a Liverpool player some people should be ashamed of the way they talk about him it takes a lot to perform in the famous red shirt give him some time and let's all get behind him.

Andy carroll is not anywhere near good enough for the premiership. and he never will be

THE BIRD

Totally agree judge him in 2-3 season not 1. remember he has prob only played 20% of the games. he will come good.
j.canada

Give it a rest lad, the balls are going into the box, Carroll just doesn't know how to get on the end of them. No pace, no strength, no vision, no positional sense and no good in the air unless he hasn't got a defender within 2 metres of him.

Thank god Kenny didn't start him last night, my only fear now is that Bellamy's knees won't be up for the job on Saturday and Carroll will have to start.

Ozone

Yes mate u are the only one.

Admittedly he has not set the turf alight but he's severely lacking in confidence (can't imagine why with all you lot on his back) and possibly just in a bit of poor form.

if you really need proof that good players can have bad runs like this, just look at that fernando lad who used to bang them in for us not too long ago.

plus he is young yet. sometimes it takes a while for players to adapt to the pressure of wearing a red shirt. Lucas Leiva anyone? there were times when even i said 'not anywhere near good enough for the premiership and never will be;.
Now i am less naive.

x

Well we can all have our own opinion, but guess what the person that has a say on this is kk and he loves him end off. Very proud off our squad and with two poss three aditions the future looks bright. In kenny I trust. J.canada

Andy carrol is good enough for a mid table team, not liverpool.
Indian Buzzer

He was good enough for the league before Christmas 2010.

Good point w should sll Carroll to Spurs,Manu or Arsnal thy'v all got good wingrs Carroll would b knocking thm in for fun at any of thm clubs according to your prspctiv but th rality is diffrnt. Carroll is not good nough full stop.

I know you need to be a member to get them from LFC.

Steve

Mate I was a season ticket holder for 3 years, but when the yank started to f*** up our club I didn't renew it I wasn't gonna give my money to them anymore.

Im not sure but i think he wants to know were to get tickets not what matches you went to!C'mon show the man some respect ynwa

I think Thomas cook sells them

Thomas Cook don't sell them. They will get you there but they re direct you to Lfc website for tickets. Would love to get there with my youngest boy, but I'm sure everyone is in the same boat. Will just have to keep my eyes peeled & see what comes up. I don't mind paying over the odds, but I'm not gonna rip the ass out of it.

Liverpool need a good wing player, with pace who can link with Gerrard and Suarez there's no point in just going out and spending wildly on players like Carroll who don't add much to the squad.

Bang on, but finding that right winger is extremely difficult. Any suggestions?

Papa G

I would love to see Glen play there Papa mate. I like Navas but probably zero chance of signing him.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Hoilett's got pace, is used to the Prem and can come up with something special. Undoubtedly there are better players out there but given the paucity of wingers at the club, why not just go for him now? {Ed016's Note - I would love the addition to the team but if no one else bids we can get him for free in the summer, would be much better than Young IMO}

26 Jan 2012 22:08:35
Hi Eds Kuyt and Suarez both know Rick Van Wolfwinkel Kuyt from International duty and Suarez has played against him for Ajax. Do you think Kenny and or Comoli would ask their opinion of him as well as getting him watched of course. As I think the lad is going to be Hot Property in the summer. He also apparently has 22m euros release trigger in his contract. Meaning we could take the plunge and get him now? He might also be easier to tempt while his countryman Kuyt is still at the Club.

26 Jan 2012 22:02:32
Why don't Liverpool focus more on bringing in quality wingers. The last decent winger to play for Liverpool was McManaman and that is a very long time ago.

Garcia has his moments.

26 Jan 2012 21:58:23
It is looking more unlikely that we'll actually sign a player in this window, because Eds and Macca and crew are not really telling not about any concrete bids or negotiations, up till now. I know eds said "one or two", but nothing has happened till now, so it makes me wonder if we're going to have a Suarez-Carroll styled transfer again. You all know the complications that can arise with that-hit-and-miss, overrated, overpriced, untested mediocre players earning big moves and then flopping big time! I don't mean to put Eds on the spot, but is your projection (one or two) a speculative effort, an educated guess, or an insider report?

Thanks.

I can't help feeling that Carroll was a terrible signing... but calm down this isn't the usual rant people make I never have a go at players when they play fore us.

There are many reason why the transfer was a dud. But the main reason was A) the price 35m... that's a lot for potential and we all knew as we watch the closing hours of deadline day last January. This meant he had to come out firing as the young lad would have a lot of pressure on him from day one. Especially when there are some who didn't want him at all.

however the other reason B was that he was injured which meant he made no impact and lead to us to wonder about that price tag while a certain Suarez set a very high bar of quality to live up to.

I have nothing against Carroll I still feel he'll come good and that selling him now would be pointless we've spent the money know we might as well give him a fair chance (just look at Lucas) but we should have waited to summer. We should have said no 35m is too much for injured potential and came back in summer with a lower price tag and less pressure on the poor lad

-McMenemy

Just say it was possible and we had bought him on a Sale or Return basis; " How many of us, or indeed would Kenny keep him?"
I don't think many if any.
Having said that if he learns to at least work his socks off for the cause well he will improve and gain support of the fans. But he's got to do it! to win us over.
kidmillions

Boring. He's our player now, and will be for a while. Live with it.

Just imagine we got him for 1m - people would be crying for KK to play him after last years Man C game and would be wondering why he doesnt get more game time to prove what he's got. You negative posters are so hung up on his price-tag, you're expecting him to justify it whereas he has 5-10 years to justify it.

Hello ed(s),

Just a quick question. I know it is more or less commonly believed that one or two (sensible signings) will happen in January. However, I wonder if one of our direct competitors were to move (and significantly improve) if we would be inclined to follow suit? Honestly, I am afraid of Newcastle's new stikeforce and wonder if Arsenal and Chelsea's dealings could influence ours. Did any of you hear anything? Thanks in advance.

26 Jan 2012 21:31:05
Eds given the choice who would you prefer as a signing ?
David Texeira - a player in a similar mould to Suarez but with less trickery but more of a natural finisher
OR
Luik De Jong - a player similar to Caroll but with more technical ability and ball control but less physical strength

Personally I would love to see them both at LFC as they are ideal cover for LS and AC if the plan is to play both styles of striker

Leam Red

I mention these two as they are more realistic signings than cavani/ hazard/m'vila/soldado etc and better players and prospects than sow/Isla/dempsey/bent/Elia/krasic etc

The only other signing we need is David stockdale (potential joe hart)

When we have these 2 squads it makes it difficult to understand why FSG would get the chequebook out ?

Reina
Johnson Skirtel Agger Enrique
Lucas
Gerrard. Henderson
Bellamy. Suarez
De Jong

With like for like replacements

Stockdale
Kelly. Coates. Wilson. Robinson
Spearing
Shelvey. Adam
Texeira. Downing
Carroll

Looks at FIFA 2013'ish but not bad

It's funny because from pictures of them, I always imagined Texeira to be the taller one and De Jong to be the smaller one.

Jolly Red

We don't need another version of Carroll. We have him in the squad as one option. Sign a nippy little guy like Texeira and open our options up {Ed016's Note - We need Kuyts replacement}

26 Jan 2012 21:24:50
Lets face it guys, Liverpool don't need to sign any players -At least in this window- but the players we have need to step up. Look at the squad at the start of the season and you could say we were serious title contenders. Maybe if we get into the top 4 we'd need to add depth but right now most of the work should be done in the training ground.

Now go win the Carling Cup!

I pressed disagree because i think we need a right sided winger at least.

Agreed, consistency is the key.We still need time, maybe another season to gel but we will and then we will contend. We have an existing squad capable of beating Spam,City,Chelsea and Arsenal.Consistency will enable us to boss the lesser teams in the league. An inability to boss these teams, for me is the problem at LFC !! Just a question or two eds.

Everyone seems to agree Suarez will be back for the Spurs game, after serving his 8 game ban, but, didn't he get a further 1 match ban for his finger gesture at Fulham? Meaning back for Utd.

I think everyones forgot about that.

Does the further 1 match ban take immediate affect after the 8 one, or has it to be decided yet?

Could you clear up the confusion for me/us?

Thx.

Chipkin9 (EIRE)

{Ed016's Note - No he already served that ban}

He served the 1 match ban against Newcastle.

FT

Are you sure Ed016?

Just looked at the fixtures and his ban started against City in the league so he's missed:

City
Oldham (FA Cup)
City (League Cup)
Stoke
Bolton and
City (League Cup)

That's 6 games so far. So if it's 9 games he serves then he misses these next three as well:

Utd (FA Cup)
Wolves and
Spurs

(Assuming the extra match ban takes immediate affect)

Even if he already served that ban, then he still misses Spurs as he has an extra game to serve of the 8.

Is this not correct?

Chipkin9 (EIRE) {Ed002's Note - The "extra match" was dealt with before the existing suspension.}

Ah.

Cheers FT.

I thought the bans begun @ City. That's where I was going wrong. Thx for clearing that up! :0)

Do you know when they go on general sale?? tanx

I have looked around on the internet today trying to find things out for this, the club are being told tomorrow how many tickets we will get {Ed002's Note - The club get 31k in the East end.}

31k out of 90k?? {Ed002's Note - Right.}

Piatti of Valencia looks a very gifted player. Been impressed with him for the past few years since his days at almeria. His goal tonight was very calmly taken and hh is a rapid little fella. Have you heard his name ever mentioned before as a target or being scouted? He moved for about 7 mil euro to Valencia so they would want a decent return on him. He is only 22/23 so would be worth the investment I think.

I think he was linked a few years back. Was linked with a lot of big clubs (I think we were one of them) but surprisingly went to Almeria.

"sorry t say " were only signing one" why arent we buying this n that"
Sure sum of the posters wanna see us end up in the same financial mess we were in two seasons ago!
And yet the same posters askin for sterling etc to get game time. How ? You pay big prices they want first team assurances.... How are we meant to develope the next gen if theyll never get game time because of contract courses . Our entir midfield (except lucas n gerrard) is new. Our strikeforce rarley play together. Were building something here. A cup final in kennys first full season in charge. Decent attacking football thats unplayable @ times (barring the finishing at mo) . Ease up ! Sterling was doing first team rounds against stoke he.ll get his chance soon . I dont live on blind faith but 1 qustion ? Liverpool under hodgson or Liverpool under the king ?

Hi ed, you must be sick of these rumours regarding the stadium, but I heard before that there were architects from Finland at the club looking into the possibility of redeveloping our beloved Anfield. Ok, so i went into work today and guys where laughing and saying Kenny Dalglish was crying over winning the carling-cup. I didn't see the game, was he really crying and why? Nothing won so far and cardiff and the whole of wales will want to win this.

Its a long road to the final.

I'm Welsh and I want Liverpool to win.
Plus, I think you will find that Cardiff /Swansea is one of the most hatefilled derby games out there, so there will be probably more people in Wales cheering on Liverpool than there will be supporting Cardiff.

Wow not even 24 hours after a great team performance people posting about getting rid of players .just did a little research the squad we had just before KK took over and FSG helped build.

Squad post kk vs KK team after 1 year

BradJones, replaced by Doni out of respect not assessing
Glen Johnson, Same but improved through being put at LB
Daniel Agger, same but fit again
Fabio Aurelio, same but rarely plays
Steven Gerrard, same hopefully here to stay
Fernando Torres , replaced by Caroll was a legend but scored less for his club
Joe Cole, replaced by Downing
Milan Jovanovic, replaced by Bellamy less wages more heart
Sotiris Kyrgiakos, replaced by Coates
Maxi Rodriguez, when he does play offers more
Dirk Kuyt, Not reached his usual standard yesterday was an improvement
Lucas Leiva, Legend absolute great player and greatly missed
Jamie Carragher, Not getting in the team shows an improvement in the defence if he cant get in
Pepe Reina, had okay season usual mistakes but tends to improve after the new year
Jay Spearing, has improved as a player but not taken his chance
Stephen Darby, replaced by Martin Kelly much much better
Martin Skrtel, Same has benefited from partnership with agger
Christian Poulsen, replaced by Henderson please tell me bad signing
Ryan Babel, replaced by Saurez enough said
Paul Konchesky, his mum took him away and yet to hear anything from Enriques mum
Raul Meireles replaced by Charlie Adam half the price probably half the wage but tackles .

Anyway before you criticise ,last January we had to buy players to pull ourselves away from the lower half of the table this year we are still in the hunt for champions league.Personally i think our run at the end of last season had unfairly increased expections .The LFC way was to buy and develop the players to play our way but due to some lean years they go straight in so we should give them time to adapt. In a season or two the youngsters will be put in the time already adapted to pass and move.

'yet to hear anything from Enrique's mum' that made me chuckle. Obviously Craig was man of the match last night but Gerrard was a close second he more or less marked Silva out of the game and yet still found space when he won possession. Mind i think Spearing has taken his chance just been unlucky with suspension and injury this season, personally i never thought he'd make it but its great to be wrong sometimes.

always a red

I think your a bit unfair about spearing not taking his chances. you cant help getting injured. i think he will be a top player in time. he,s a top lad.

Not sure how you can say Darby was replaced by Kelly when Kelly was playing all the time under Hodgson. But I agree clearing away the deadwood has left us looking a lot healthier. The weakest link in the entire squad now is probably Carra - and who thought we'd have been saying that a year ago?

Unfair on little jay i like the lad and he has the liverpool way breed into him, this is what will slowly start to get into the new players also

gee man

26 Jan 2012 20:09:40
we should start play some of the younger players in the league such as Coady, Morgan, Sterling, Jordan Ibe, Wisdom and then bring through Seyi Ojo to play alongside Morgan and Suárez

And carrol

Some of the lads are to young & not physically developed yet, imagine Sterling vs Micah Richards no contest, then you would have plods comin on rantin how s**t they are......

26 Jan 2012 20:04:01
hey eds have u watched a zambian player by the name of emanuel mayuka the guy is top claas and he is only 21 he plays for young boys..he is curently da joint top scorer at the ongoing africa cup of nations....the boy is greeat {Ed016's Note - I have not sorry}

26 Jan 2012 19:59:53
Ed i have posted a few times saying how Downing was bought for his crossing ability (stats) but he has spent most of his time cutting in and losing the ball but last night he was crossing the ball constantly...Do you think after Kenny's chat due to the Bolton Loss Kenny told him to start crossing the ball and quit the cutting in crap?

MJ

There were little players in the box most of the time and anyway Micah Richards would beat the like of Bellamy in the air.....just look at the corners we had no one got on the end of them -McMenemy

Sorry read that wrong mate, my mistake soz -McMenemy

Thanks for the input Ed

MJ

It does't help when he is told to switch wing and play on the right. He will cut in more. problem is it slows play down so much. When on the left there is little point in him running in and whipping in crosses to no one or short stikers. Downing's problem is a lack of a target in the area. And the problem with that is it makes everything we do slow.

26 Jan 2012 19:33:04
Hi eds, just wondered if you were of the same opinion as myself, although Ian Ayre has stated that money is not an issue with regard to transfer targets, player wages still seem to hinder transfer opportunities. Though I am a fan of Glen Johnson, if he were to leave in the summer I don't believe we would require a replacement for him with Kelly, Flanno and robinson coming through so that would lessen the wage bill to target players in other positions. Just a thought, wondered your opinion? Cheers

I totally agree with you Kelly is an amazing RB and if Johnson leaves i dont think many fans would really care as his defending is not worth 90k a week would like to get isla though i have heard he is one of the best

MJ {Ed016's Note - the problem for me with Johnson is the wages he is on rather than his skill.}

Despite my paranoia about Fergie I have great admiration and respect for Mark Halsey. He has had a difficult time fighting cancer and through self belief and hard work he now seems to be better. Best wishes to Mark and his family hes been through a lot.

Ian Ayre on transfers - "If an opportunity presents itself I am sure we will look at it"

lol- the opportunities won't come to find you .. you have to find the opportunities. players won't come to you saying sign me I want to join you..... the club have to find players & offer them the chance..

It's great to reach the Wembly final.. but lets not get carried away.. the negatives 'll still be there.. think we r very much lacking a DM... especially Adam.. if we r to see the best of him we need a proper natural DM to cover him & allow him to play freely. On Henderson he works his socks off has determination but most of the time he looks like he is trying to catch a chicken or something he don't have the courage or the knowledge how to tackle & win the ball he just roams after the ball... a sight we have seen with Lucas before (his bad/transition days) & with Poulsen.

despite all this Stevie G playing in MD has covered up most of the things. Adam, Hendo & Stevie is a decent midfield but not great or the best as far as defensive part of the game is concerned.

no room for complacency ..MUFC on the horizon & top 4 quest is toughing up.

I posted this TWO days ago....and guess what ?? Martin Atkinson has now mysteriously got a 'virus' and will not be refereeing the game on Saturday. Mark Halsey is now refereeing the game..... yes the same referee who has gone into print saying how he has huge respect for old whisky nose......

Tell me Im not paranoid please, but I just knew Fergie would somehow get his own way, even though he couldnt get his normal poodle. It happens too many times to 'just be a coincidence' .....Fergie is pulling out all the stops to win the FA cup game on Saturday.

Original post:

24 Jan 2012 11:07:44
Martin Atkinson to referee the Liverpool vs United FA cup clash. At least we should get a fair deal from him, he is a good quality and fair ref with a decent temperament and certainly not one of Fergies poodles.

Fergie was banned last year for criticising Atkinson, so they are not best pals.

United have put in a formal complaint to the FA because they have not put Howard Webb in charge, as instructed by Fergie......but theres still time for Fergie to get his wishes.

Tel 1949

Now this is really weird.....just found out that HOWARD WEBB is the 4th official for the game on Saturday.....am I really paranoid or is this just another Fergie 'coincidence' ?

Tel 1949

Highly suspicious

Does that mean he can wear his manc shirt in top of his black one? He can sit a bit closer to his hero if he doesn't have to run about much lol.

Totally agree with Tel 1949 there is something weird going on. If Howard Webb ref's the game tomorrow I can see us getting game changing decisions against us.

Can you get hold of Carling cup final tickets yet?
If so can anybody recomend a trusted site to buy them off?

Kopite81

for me the team from now on:
johnson-skrtel-agger-enrique
henderson/maxi-adam-gerrard-downing
bellamy-suarez
fa cup manchester utd is his last match ban.

Wolves is his last match

No goalkeeper then??

Wolves is his last match ban {Ed016's Note - He will be back for the Tottenham game at Anfield}

Don't really think the goalie requires even noting as there is only one likely player - take a bow Pepe!

After reaching our first domestic cup final since 2006 and first Wembley final since 1996 I see the negativity level on here has gone from Defcon 5 to Defcon 4. Rather than celebrating a great performance by the whole team the same individual players are being criticised. I have seen posts by people saying 'great performance last night but I'm still not convinced by x,y or z player'. Why do people feel the need to pick on individual players after a thoroughly decent performance like last night's? Reaching the final of this competition is a great achievement when you consider last night was our first home game in the competition.

The one thing I think is clear is that in the same way the performance and overall victory over City doesn't make us a great team, losing to Bolton and drawing with Stoke doesn't make us a poor team. If we judge our performances and results against the teams above us only Tottenham have comprehensively outplayed us. We have beaten Chelsea (twice) and Arsenal away and drawn at home to United and City being the better team. Even when we lost 3-0 to City the other week they never dominated us and we gave as good as we got. In fact in the four games we have played against City we have conceded six goals which is the same as some teams have conceded in one game! In those four games City have only dominated against us in the second half of the cup game at the Etihad while we have dominated the first half of that game and the two games at Anfield.

Our problem is, and has been for many years, beating the teams who play compact against us. We find it difficult to break these teams down for some reason. But this is still a relatively new team who are still getting used to one another. It still needs the addition of a few more players but it doesn't need wholesale changes.

If you look at the two years we have come closest to ending our wait for the League Championship under Houllier and Benitez it was after they had 3-4 years to build the team and install confidence in the way they wanted the team to play. This was also at a time when the league was a lot less competitive than it is now. It has taken City a similar amount of time to put their first real challenge in for the title despite spending over £400m on players and a wage bill that is unsustainable for anyone other than an oil sheik.

If this team, with the addition of a couple of quality players, is given the time to sort out its inconsistencies, and the manager is given the time to build the confidence, I am convinced KK have deliver the trophy we all want the most. I expect lots of people to say they have supported the club for X amount of years and I have waited long enough - well tough, there is no easy quick fix solutions.

JRG

Lol--we must not get carried away...a Carling cup final won't mean everything is perfect.. the negatives r there & the fans have every right to say so..

Yes fans do have a right to say so but there's some that just like moaning for the sake of moaning i mean some people are still slating downing when last night was his best performance in a red shirt i just dont understand some people its like they have got there minds made up and nothings going to change it even if the lads criticised were to get a hat trick every game i dont think that would be enough for some people maybe it will just take time to win the fans over just like lucas

why are fans so stupid, how clinical has suarez been this season out of 57 shots he has scored 8 goals. we need a striker it is absolutely pivotal we get a striker this window. also suarez is a CAM, thats how he played at ajax and look how great he was there.

26 Jan 2012 17:48:24
Hi eds! Just a quick one for you is Adam Morgan anywhere near being ready for first team! Great talent with a great scoring record!
Keep up the good work guys! {Ed002's Note - On the fringes at best I am told by other Eds.}

Liverpool team to play Cardiff at Wembley

Reina

Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique

Kuyt Gerrard Adam Downing

Suarez Bellamy

Subs: Doni, Kelly, Carragher, Shelvey, Maxi, Henderson, Carroll

Can't disagree with that myself

Swap Kuyt for Hendo!

Hendo instead of Kuyt.

RenegadeRed

Id go wiv kuyt on the right cuz he was amazing last night and i didnt see hendo do much

At half-time!
ND

There will be a top striker coming so he is not going to play the final ?

No spearing then. Our most underrated player!
He rarely gives the ball away, pivotal to our pass & move game, he keeps our tempo going.

Jimbob {Ed016's Note - He is still out injured for another 2-3 weeks}

26 Jan 2012 17:11:15
Eds maybe you can settle my mind on something.People keep posting that we should sign American players to help us "market" the club.If we fielded 11 American players and sold bloody hundreds of thousands of strips would it make the club any more profitable? {Ed002's Note - No.}

Good question. I suggest these 11 Americans ” one Clint Dempsey and ten Clint Dempsey clones. They will think and function as one, like Star Wars Imperial Storm Troopers.

(Hey, the answer is no worse than the question.)

John CT, USA

The answer and the question were not worth typing or posting

Jonesred

Okay, I admit that my answer wasn't a very practical. Let's scale it back to one Clint Dempsey and zero Dempsey clones. That will be easier to do, and it will still generate interest in the American Sports market, which, by the way, generates millions (or in the case of the NFL, billions) of dollars for various sports leagues each year. (Jonesy, dollars are similar to pounds, but greener and George Washington's face where the queens pic should be.)

Like many people here I was not 100% convinced when we signed Henderson. I was unsure he was worth the amount of money we paid and his first 10 games or so didn't persuade me otherwise. However since then he's really grown on me, only 21 he is showing real promise in my opinion. He works as hard as any in the midfield, his distribution is simple but keeps our play ticking nicely, he looks increasingly composed on the ball and after re-watching the game from last night I was really impressed with some of his through balls and crosses. It just frustrates me that people come on this site to vent their anger at a very young and gifted footballer who seems to really want to wear the shirt.

RO YNWA

Now thats a superb post!!!

redinthehead

He looks talented but I'd like to see him take control a bit more. Too often he'll play a short pass or delegate responsibility when in a position to drive on. He's certainly got the ability to take the game to the opposition. This is a common criticism of young players though, and it can't be easy for him settling in to such a huge team, it's understandable he won't be pushing forward quite as much yet. Would like to see him develop that side of his game over the next few seasons though, and he could also do with scoring a few more goals

Red Ollie

That has to be the post of the day, well said
LeeWils

You'll definitely see him improve over the next few seasons. I thought it was a clever signing, and one we've yet to see the best of. You really can't fault him on his enthusiasm and work rate for the Club. Complete dedication from the kid, I'm glad he signed.

Cuchulainn's Hounds

He wud have played well from day one, if he had not been put on the right wing. Of all our cms barring lucas, hendo is the most disciplined plus hardworking.

Got to give it to Adrian Durham. Saying we beat Man City's reserve team last night. So are Silva, Aguero, Richards, Hart and de Jong all reserve players? I think not.

Rafa's Purple Goatie

They cant stand the fact that LFC is the best Fc

Yh ok so yaya and kompany were out and balotelli might have not even started even if available yet we have suarez and lucas out and its not mentioned

@kop_bailey

The exact reason why i don't bother listening to that dulge.

They just broadcast to provoke reactions and get as many listeners as possible.

Stu. {Ed016's Note - Absolute crap, glad I do not subject myself to that rubbish. Their reserves are strong enough to reach a top 4 place by themselves so the fact that he spouted such utter crap is testament to his complete lack of brain cells}

Don't even rise to this no-mark. He's not worth the extra oxygen required....
ND

Adrian Durham talks complete carp. Its called Talks*te for a reason.

Durham is a total prat who believes in his own self importance...........he is radio's answer to what Andy Gray was to Sky. He will use anything to prove his argument is right. Trying to belittle our performance last night by saying City had a reserve team out is his way of backing up his constant slagging of us this last 3/4 weeks. I for one turned him off after hearing the rubbish he spouted tonight and will no longer tune in to the"drive show" while that dcik is on air it's embarrasing listening to a grown "man" attempting to prove his outrageous and stupid statements with little knowledge of a club or the game.............TMac

I listened to him today aswell. A Red came on and stated we still Beat a good Man City team as Bailey has mentioned, And He critisised Lucas as not being a good enough player to take us forward. He Said, We will have a good day out at Wembley, But we will still have not moved on.

26 Jan 2012 17:21:57
we know on their day, liverpool can beat any team in the premier league
what is a worry is that they are so inconsisstant when it comes to playing the lower teams in the league

the squad clearly needs bolstering in 2 areas, so i think they will be looking at 2 signings, 1 a striker, and 2 a right winger

we've seen all the names mentioned on here and with just 5 days to go, you can bet bids are in and negociations under way, if not, expend some deadline day drama.....Don't be surprised though if you see a familiar face back through the door

Familiar face? Great, God is coming back for one last swansong!

people people people, forgodsake, we are not getting rid of henderson, 1 he is the future of liverpool so be quiet, adams, will come good soon he has played for a s**te team like blackpool he is just starting to fit in, and carrol time will tell, but i believe it will happen 2 goals maybe against united sat. but please hve faith in the team and stop bloody going on, we will more then likely by 1 or 2 this week but is only to blend in the team we got, so all you haterz out there, go support spurs, and leave us lpool supporters to support and belive, in kk we believe.

Its Adam.

Apparently we just about beat man city's reserves last night according to that t##t on talk sport he really infuriates me

Mat lfc

Just laugh at him mate we deserved the win and that City team will win the prem so just ignore the fool

MJ

Well we didn't have Suarez and Lucas, two mainstays of our team, so they can't talk! Don't let it worry you, rise above it even!

Keith

Yeah I know the guy is an absolute tool none of them can stand us doing well

Mat lfc

Dont worry bud the whole of the press is against lfc ....we'll shut them up soon ....on the pitch!

26 Jan 2012 17:14:32
Any predictions for the squad against United? I doubt we will keep the same side. Perhaps Carrol starts?
-Hutchinson

If downing crosses like he did last night id be happy with Carrol starting

MJ

I can't see Bellamy starting, but I doubt Carroll will start. I'd imagine a 4-1-4-1 with Kuyt as the lone striker:

Reina
Johnson-Skrtel-Agger-Enrique
Gerrard
Maxi-Henderson-Adam-Downing
Kuyt

Red Ollie

Reina
Johnson-Skrtel-Agger-Enrique
Gerrard
Kuyt-Henderson-Adam-Downing
Carroll

5-4-1 again?

hi guys, i am from singapore. Today's Strait Times wrote that Liverpool are setting up an academy in singapore, following the in the foot steps of arsenal and Man united. everyone knows BPL clubs are in asia for 1 thing and 1 thing only - cash. the permit to allow liverpool to set up academy here will reap the clubs insane amt of money from parents of singapore's ultra competitive parents schooled to want only the best for their child. in return, i heard from a friend working on this project, that Liverpool will be signing one of Singapore's young prospects - Fareez Farhan, he was mentioned in soccernet article for top 10 promising players from asia. remember this name. you heard this from relacker.

checkout the top 10 promising young players by soccernet. he is in there.

soccernet.espn.go.com/columns/story/_/id/1003851/eastern-promise:-ten-asian-players-to-watch-in-2012?cc=4716

You mean Fareez a jolly good fellow?

Hi ed's doin a great job as usual! ! Was just wondering is there any chance we could see r sterling make an appearance for the first team ? I know he is young , but that kinda of carefree approach on the wing's is exactly what we need , our wingrs won't run at the full back ,but put an aimless cross that carroll has no chance of gettin , I'm sure sterling's pace could destroy most full backs in the prem, really wish we would give him a chance and not be crying on here lookin for twenty million pound wingers to be signed! Thanks ed's keep it up 5 days of madness left ! :)
{Ed002's Note - Please just read through the posts. This is asked every day.}

26 Jan 2012 16:30:42
only 5 days left in the transfer window, if were gonna replace downing adam henderson and carroll then comolli and kenny need to get a move on

Ye because Kenny will do that wont he. If downing sticks to crossing the ball like he did last night he will be just fine (instead of constantly cutting in) Adam is doin ok just needs a fitness boost, Henderson is a good player just needs to man up abit but the only one who worries me is Carrol he is improving but i just cant see him being a formidable forward

MJ

Completly agree, Dead wood, Waste of money and have been shocking all season. Davey96

We dont need to replace them idiot

ste

Gerrard was at fault for 2 goals against Bolton and 2 goals against Man-City, get rid of him? Hate muppets like this coming on not even making a valid point as to why we should get rid of these players, all players coming from different clubs with different ways of playing and teams with lower expectations. I wouldn't get rid of any of them because they will come good. Aurelio, Aquilani, Maxi, Kuyt and Joe Cole to leave in the summer so they will need to be replaced, i think thats why we aren't making moves in this window. (We could yet get a striker in this window, it just depends if the player is available or not)

Rocky

We wont replace them ...... WE WONT OK just wanted 2 tell ya
Shanio1

4 of the worst signings ive ever seen, and you can throw coates in aswell, complete waste of money, kenny hasnt got a clue and comoli is a waster. paul ynwa

Ah Gerrard is past it, His career will be finished in 2 seasons, Such a shame he'll finish his career without a premiership winners medal, should of signed 4 chelsea when he had the chance but his dad begged him to stay, and sort of ruined his career, but i get it, family before work. good chance of another medal against cardiff tho so the carling cup aint that bad after all

Well Paul you should be ashamed of yourself for 1. being a manc and 2. using YNWA

MJ

What you on about MJ ? how am i a manc? im from dublin but ive supported liverpool for 20 years, Just coz i dont like the signings and i think kenny isnt doing good enough then that makes me a manc? grow up kid, So your tellin me that if you wer ever unhappy with evans, rafa, roy and you gave out about then you'd automatically be considered a manc? no 1 is bigger than the club, i just think kenny and comoli's signings have been brutal and i think kenny isnt good enough, cheek of you to question me because my opionion isnt the same as yours, paul ynwa

Your obviously a f****n sh!te supporter then you have no faith and still after the way we played last night you have the cheek to say how bad the players are we just out played the top of the prem team who have spent about a billion £s in a few years on a team who are quite frankly 2nd to Barcelona at the moment...Plus i never said anyone was bigger than the club...and kenny has done bloody wonders for LFC since he's been here your a complete person so go and support a team with so called great players as our team and manager is not good enough for you...And how can you say you have been a supporter for 20 years when you spout crap like that

MJ

Paul u Muppet how can u put ynwa after your post. Go support Man Utd. No Liverpool player should be slated on here...

Quigz23

Would'nt bother replying MJ - he is either a manc or a sad bluenose........anyone who claims to have supported the reds for 20 years then spouts s**te like that is NOT a fan of the reds! - TMac

How can anyone call coates a waste of money? That guy reminds me of sami hyppia. U have got this one wrong paul. I do think carrol needs to move on though.
Indian Buzzer {Ed016's Note - @OP I would say wait a few years for him to reach his full potential but that kind of fan will have moved on by then. Impatient idiots everywhere these days}

Wud u mind telling me what potential, ed? Coz i havent seen anything in carrol, tbh. N thats just my opinion. He is just at the wrong club at the wrong time. Plus, he is damn lazy, isnt he? n he is the worst trainer in the squad as well, i think pepe said that.

Reading the posts on this site the past day has convinced me that some people can never be pleased and will moan no matter what we do.

Sad.

Anyway, any ideas who the ref for saturday is? Anybody?

Oh God, please no Howard Webb or Chris Foy! Haha

Hope Bellamy and all the boys rest and recuperate fully.

As keegan once said (albeit as newcastle gaffer)- 'i would love it if we beat them. Just love it.' Haha

Hope all the players and kopites behave themselves towards evra.

He's low-life pondscum and it juz won't be worth it going down to his level.

1 manc team down and 1 more to go! Haha

I think the ref will be Mark Halsey, Singapore mate.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Mark Halsey will Ref on Saturday - it was going to be Martin Atkinson but he withdrew due to the Flu today.

Isnt it Martin Atkinson?

BREAKING NEWS... I heard from a reliable source we are signing Clark Kent. Fingers crossed eh.

Also was Henderson not just terrible last night?! Seriously what game were some of u people watching? Get a win like that and u that's still have stuff to moan about. Hendo was great and personally I'm excited about his future at Liverpool.

Finally. How many of you were calling for KK's head last week? Where is he taking us know the 26th of next month?

Rant over. I'm going to the pub

ps great work ed's. I don't know how u have the patience.

You're absolutely right. How can people complain after a win like that...its not like you drew 2-2............

I am of course being facetious for the sake of it. Im fully aware nobody cares about the opinions of a United fan but you'll have it anyway. Henderson is being used to accommodate the rest of the midfield. People would see much better form from him when the time comes that he is told, and given the freedom, to go out and put his stamp on the midfield. Still not worth £20million mind.

TK-Red

When you spend 20 mill on Hargreaves, 19 mill on Carrick and 19 mill on Anderson TK mate. It makes the 16.8 mill we spent on Hendo, look an absolute bargin.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Every single one of those you mentioned has a Premier League and Champions League winners medal mate. Now that is a bargain. Especially Carrick when you consider he spent £16million and has helped us win 4 League titles, 1 CL, 2 Carling Cup (which we know you value so highly now) and a World Club Cup in 6 years. Lets see what Henderson's medal cabinet looks like 6 years from now eh? I dont even need to go into detail about the vast amounts your lot have spent on other players of late.

TK-Red

Good job he didn't cost £20m then
AD

TK MAX why dont you just stay on your own site or at least stop talking crap about them average players

Your stupidity dosn't surprise me one bit TK mate. These midfielders may have the medals, but to think they won these trophies for you, is biased and idiotic.

Your defence, Shrek, Ronaldo, Tevez, Van Der Sar have all been the platform, in which you have been successful, in the past few years. Do you think it's a coincidence, now that Ronaldo, Tevez and VDS have all gone, you don't look half the team you used to be?

If you took your rose tinted glasses off and had half a brain, you would have know this.

I have to admit, you Mancs and lack of football knowledge, that comes with being a Manc, is very consistent. lol

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Ps. Next rib tickle please.....

TK-Red

But United have won those trophies in spite of those players, not because of them.

And are you suggesting that they are better players as they have more medals? If so you won't be wanting Modric in the summer then as he has fewer medals than those players so must be a worse player?

JRG

It's fine saying carrick wasn't a bad investment blah blah but what was today's value of 16m 6 years ago.........30m+ probably.

Blair, that's a physical impossibility, they can't be Manc fans and Knowledgable as well.

Sooty

'JRG'

No trophies dont make a better player but trophies do justify transfer fees in most cases. Surely you have to admit that much mate? Im sure if Andy Carroll wins 3 League titles and a CL then you wouldnt feel quite so put out by the fee paid for him? So long has he plays his part, if not a huge part.

'Blair'

You're nothing but a deluded hypocrite mate. An embarrassing one at that. You come onto the United page and jump down JWalk's throat for what you call "petty insults" and then you make a piss poor attempt at similar on this page. Did your school not allow you back after christmas?

'Unnamed Poster'

Liverpool fans go onto the United page, United fans come onto the Liverpool page. Thats how it is, live with it.

'Sooty'

Its a waste of time kissing Blair's arse mate, there's not enough room up there for your head ASWELL as his own.

Your post is music to my ears, TK mate. I can tell when someone has got his knickers in a twist, he signs off as TK-Red. lol

thank god we're at wembley. are first chance in yonks to win a trophy. come on you reds.

Yes but you'd think all those days in Cardiff (4 times) and all those great nights in Barcelona, Milan, Marseilles, London, Madrid et al over the past 10 years in the Champions League had never happend according to some fans and elements of the media.

26 Jan 2012 16:21:38
whats wrong with some of you on here, never happy always moaning. most of you dont have a clue what you are talking about. some of you think you are in the know of whats going on at the club but lets be honest you dont have a clue. you slag off all the new signings and think if we go out and spend even more millons that will make everything alright. it wont. it takes time to build a strong and a quality squad. i dont disagree we do need another striker and a winger but we need to find the right ones. theres no point just going out and buying one for the sake of it that just wants a high wage packet. things are being run diffrent at the club now and its about time. get behide the club and stop f**king moaning.

Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre insists the club have money to spend in the transfer window, but that they are happy with their current squad. (SkySports)

26 Jan 2012 16:15:47
Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre insists the club have money to spend in the transfer window, but that they are happy with their current squad.

The Reds have been linked with a number of names during this month's transfer window with Kenny Dalglish thought to be in the market for striking reinforcements to help solve the club's goalscoring problems.

Ayre is adamant the club's American owners are prepared to back Dalglish in the transfer market, but insists they will not rush into any signings.

"Money is not an issue," Ayre told Sky Sports News. "If we need somebody and there's a player I think our owners have shown the level of commitment you would expect from a good ownership group that the manager will get supported whatever he needs.

"But that's not the same as saying we will just go spend money because we have got it or just because we can.

Long-term plan
"It is about the long-term plan of where they want the squad and where they want the team to be, that's not about any particular transfer window it's about continuing to improve.

"If an opportunity presents itself I am sure we will look at it, but right now it's about keeping going and improving and getting the best out of what we have got.

"We have got some great players in a great squad of players and they are focused on pushing that forward."

So Ed002 was wrong then about LFC's cash flow, Dont worry Ed002 your right about most things

MJ {Ed002's Note - No I am not wrong about Liverpool's cash flow at all. The club is making a loss. Ayre saying "money is not a problem" is nothing to do with cash flow at all. And it also doesn't mean the club can go out and spend £100M on players which is no doubt how some will interpret it.}

26 Jan 2012 16:11:14
"Money is not an issue, if we need somebody we will go out and get them." - Ian Ayre #LFC

well go out and sign ronaldo, benzema and xabi alonso or someone then if money is not an issue

And get lumbered with large salaries?

I wouldnt mind if they paid Ronaldo a huge salary atleast he would score 40-50 goals a season and help us win the league

MJ {Ed016's Note - See him crying like a little bitch in El Classico yesterday? Loved it}

Ye he is a world class tart but he is a good player

Hold on hold on!
Why did I know this would happen? already even after last night there is people saying Downing and Henderson were crap. Well then you guys are obviously the people who judge a good preformance on the amount of shots taking or set up mades. Bellamy, Gerrard, Downing, Henderson and Agger gave us the win last night. Saying that the other players played good too.

Bellamy ran on to everything and his attacking mentality was obvious. He really wanted to make a difference.

Gerrard played an uncharacteristic sitting role and let Adam roam. His tackling and passes were near perfection.

Henderson was always making himself available. On the ball his passing was great be it going forward or back to the keeper and he provided good pressure in defending moments

Downing was great! he provided a number of opportunities with his crossing and quick pace. he got on the end of a good few balls.

Agger was key also. apart from losing sight of Dzeko for the goal he was a rock.

If you dont agree with me please go look at the match again and prove me wrong! We are in the final! how about thanking those players for this achievement which has slipped our grasp for too long, not insult them and slag them off. Cos in the end it could be worse... We could have played one of YOU moaners on the wing

LFC Paddy

Couldnt agree more!! pretty much summed it up... if it wasnt for a WORLD CLASS Joe Hart, we would have destryed them last night, and its not as if Man city played badly. I think if we had played Barca or Real Madrid last night, they would have struggled against us!

Danski

Well said mate, can't believe the negativity still after getting to Wembley. Why can some so called fan's just stop chatting s**te and enjoy last night.
The character shown to come back twice against a very good team.
I've a feeling that some folks tiny minds are made are already made up about the players mentioned regardless of how they perform.
Sad mate,very sad.

to be honest if we dont get at least 2 strikers this month buy the end of 31st january top 4 is a long way off, unless gerrard turns 26 and starts scoring a screamer each game.

bring back AQUALINI
keep adams as squad player

Its Aquilani and Adam! If you cant spell the names are you really supporting us. As you should know Aquilani cannot return til his season long loan has expired, but we're looking to sell him in the summer anyway for around £8m... Adam is still adapting to our system, remember at Blackpool he was the main man, he used to take all the free kicks, corners and penalties, his fitness levels aren't up to the rest of the squads levels but he had a good game yesterday, he has a great left foot

Rocky

Rocky your so right plus people need to just Shut the hell up about aquilani he does not want to play for LFC or in the prem he was a weak player although skilled he kept faking injury in training because it was to tough for him, Adam will come good when he is LFC fit and the person who disagreed with Rocky's post your a fool

MJ

This crap again Aqualini does not and will not for Liverpool . Adam wants to play for us so on that regard his a far better player if they don't wanta play for us then pop off

just want to say a big thanks to every one at liverpool fc for last night and for the day out im going to have on the final its been to long for a club like liverpool but i will celabrate it like the champions leuge final. to be fair whan goin in the game i thought the ground was to quiet and thought it was a bit grim but we found the voice we have been missing far to much this season i love my fellow fans and i love the club hope this is the start of many but we need to be a little bit more patient i still think werre a year our so of top 4

the free transfer we get is by far the best player this season.Henderson was awful last nite.i was impressed with adam but still gives to many free kicks away outside box and nearly giv citeh a pen.downing just not good enuf and never will be.

Its funny how people can still complain after a result like that.
Red-raj

Henderson wasn't awful! He worked his socks off, made some good passes and was helping out all over the pitch. I like him more every time I see the lad, and am sure he will do well for us in the future. Still remain to be convinced by Adam and Downing though. -SH-

Henderson was awful?? What game where you watching fella? Do us all a favour a dont waste our times with your opinion as its a disgrace and you are clearly clueless!!!!
LeeWils

Wake up hendo had a great game so your a person proper
k-h

Its obvious the original poster didn't watch the game live, all the players worked hard as a team, Gerrard played defensive midfield role, Henderson ran himself into the ground. Downing for me had a good game, he's improving but needs to work on his defensive side of his game, he's weak in the tackle, I've no problem with Adam at all, i know what he has to improve on and it looks like he's working hard on that so no problems. Dalglish's tactics were spot on last night aswell, but big well done has to go to Bellamy, he was unreal last night, he worked hard and got the reward in the end.

Rocky

Henderson awful ur a awful fan thats what p.s i stoped reading then lol

Who is the anonymous clown saying Henderson was awful? Are you on the wacky backy lad?

Henderson was awesum. as long as he keeps working his socks off, that shud be more than enough for us. Still not convinced by adam though. A mistake waiting to happen.

If we were to win both the fa and league cup, is it possible that the additional revenue generated from this would equate to a similar sort of sum we would otherwise be getting next year if we were to finish in the top 4 and gain champions league qualification (presuming we finish outside the top 4).

I for 1 still believe Carroll will come good eventually I've noticed when he comes on as a sub lately he look angry and pi##ed off but I think this can work to our advantage because when he comes on and he's like that I want him to go and bully the defenders like he did for Newcastle because he can do it. Another thing I noticed last night was downing put a fair few quality crosses in hopefully he can do that when Carroll is on next time because I have faith in him maybe its blind faith but its faith nonetheless

I can't understand people complaining about Downing. From what I see, him and Enrique are building a good understanding and are always being marked 3 against 2 as teams know we are strong on the left. He puts in a good shift, has a decent pass completion rate but, like all of the team this season, needs to get his shooting boots back on. If we had a similar right sided player then he would be given more freedom and therefore have more options, but for now, I think he's a good buy. As soon as a RM is signed, you will see more of downings qualities.
Ultra red

I agree ultra red. He also puts a hell of a lot of good quality balls into the box that a good centre forward would be getting on the end of. All this nonsense about Carroll not getting the service is nothing but eye wash, he's just too slow to get to the ball.

Ozone

Absolutely totally agree. He's been given a hard time but has been very productive in the last few games (bolton game aside). And yes I do go on every game and sitein the lower tier centenary so I can see him and enrique very closley. He's been denied a goal by world class keeping. I'm glad we got him and if we got behind him even more he would be more confident. Theres a guy who sits a few seats behind me who loudly slates him the whole time, so if you are reading this you t*ss*er , SHUT UP!get off his case, get behind him. Is that how you would encourage your own son in a sport of any type? It's not productive. Just wanna say to Stu, keep working and it will come. We're not all boo boy who know nothing about football at this level, making snegative/critcal snap judgements. Keiran LFC supporter!

Regards to carroll not being fast enough ozone, last night was one of the first times we were seeing the real downing, I think his confidence is coming back. To say carroll is to slow is poor with crosses like last night from downing carroll would have done well. Get him on the pitch and hope downing does more of the same. Carroll be unstopable again. J.canada

Sorry J, I don't agree. Carroll would either fall over or end up the wrong side of the defender. Either way he wouldn't have got on the end of them.

There was a moment in the game last night that demonstrated just how slow Carroll is. It was around 89 mins and Gerrard was moving the ball out of our penalty area, he placed the pass to Carroll and went for the return but the ball just passed Carroll and the lescott started another city attack. It was a nail biting point of the game and if city had of scored from the error I'd never have forgiven him. I watched the replay when I got home and sure enough there was no problem with Gerrards pass, Carrolls that slow he can't even put his left peg out in time for a one touch one two.

Ozone

I understand your point. but lets give the lad time. i say lets debate this in 2 years. remember he is on a learning curve and will take time. he is far from the finished product. give the lad a fair chance thats all i would say. j.canada

Watching LFC highlights on Australia Day. I'm a tragic. Doesn't matter how far away I am, I still marvel at the eloquence of Kenny Dalglish and the romance of LFC. Sunshine, surfing is my way of life here in Queensland, but it is hard to explain the attraction to a football club which I have never been to or even watched a game. It is a dream of mine to see but I willl get there one day. Anyways, go the Reds and remember that there are alot of us over here in Oz who have your back. Cheers boys.

how can you complain about Downing and hendo when that gobs***e right back johnson was out of position for their second when gerrard had to cover for him.. another over rated over payed english player... DWire

The same gob***** who set up the goal that took us through... amazed you can refer to one of our players like that even if you don't believe in them....

Richards

If you look at the stats Downing put in the box the most crosses than anybody else. The problem is not Stuart bur the person at the receiving end who can not receive the crosses and finish them

The same player who scored the winner against chelsea you do not deserve to be a liverpool fan we back all our players! even if carroll dont score another goal this season i will support him because he needs it all players do fans like you make me sick.

DWire, get your facts right. We cant call for Johnson to get forward one week and then slate him unfairly the next -Johnson was only out of position for the 2nd goal due to a misplaced pass from stevie g while johnson was moving ahead of him down the right wing. Thats why stevie was trying to block the cross while johnson scurried back. Gerrards one error in a great game, not johnsons fault, get off the bandwagon, support the team, one and all ! Go back and watch it again and you will see.

Didn't Gerrard give the ball away while Johnson was advancing forward? Gerrard didn't even make an attempt to stop the second goal, he let Kolorov cross easily into the box for Dzeko to score

It was Agger on the wrong side of Dzeko that was responsible for the second goal

Hi everyone.
i can't believe posters on here slagging off the likes of Hendo and Downing. played well last night. I can remember all the flak lucas levia got not so long back. people saying how s**t he was. Well, he's not s**t now is he ? in fact he is indeed one of the most important players in the side and we really have mist his presence since his injury. the midfield is disjointed presently and the sooner he comes back the better.

Anyway Hendo is still a young lad and must be given time. downing is not great but he's not as bad as people say and imo last nights improved performance may just be the game that gives him the confidence to show what he can do. yes i would agree he is not world class but when he is on song he is very decent. So come get behind the boys, were going to wembley and if we beat Man U then we have a great chance of two visits. Can you feel the POSITIVE VIBRATION!.

Gerrard now has 5 goals in 10 games this season (I know, 4 of them pens)
We've also missed 4 penalties this season and Adam scored one.

Some clown rang into TalkSport yesterday afternoon, claiming Gerrard was past it and will never get back to the goal scoring midfielder he was a few years ago.

Anyway my point is, had Stevie been available all season, he would've taken 5 more pens and I'm confident he'd have scored them.
That would put him on 10 for the season, plus any extra goals he's likely to chip in with.

After the best part of a year out injured, his return to fitness is truly like signing a world class player.

I know it's been said countless times before, but I'm really excited at the prospect of seeing Stevie and Suarez link up!

Joe

For me he is the best midfielder for the last 10-15 years. He can pass it long and short, cross, tackle, score inside and outside the box, take set peices,he is creative and has technical ability and can unlock defences,he can head it,he has pace,he has great stamina,he is motivated, he is the perfect player for me if carlsberg made players they would make Stevie G!

Henderson - after last night all you critics need to ease up on this lad... he's still very young and at this age still deserves his place in the first team. He's going to be significant for us in the next 3-4 years!

Downing - I'm still unsure if we're giveing him the right options to aim for up front. Look at the City Kolorov and Dezko goal... Downing has whipped crosses like that in this season with no one running in on the back post.

I still don't understand what Henderson is doing out there. In a few years yes but the lad is lost and I am sorry just does not contribute.

Completely agree about Henderson.
I don't know exactly how much we paid for him (I've read varied amounts ranging from £14 - £20 million depending on add-ons etc.)
People forget he's only 21, and we didn't buy a world class player. We bought a young lad with bags of potential.
I've already seen him grow in his time at Anfield and games like last night will only help his development.

Does not contribute? Maybe you need to see him live... This kid does not stop running and hassling the opposition all game, he does the simple things that we need, he would also have a few assists if we can finish, he is played out of position but still gives it his all, I am a big fan of Henderson and am glad he plays for us!
G BOX

Does not contribute??????????? sigh

Jordan Henderson is being a team player and learning within a team how to win games from midfield .

The team wins games and Jordan Henderson is establishing himself as a vital part of a winning TEAM .

If you want to see a team of individuals try Chelsea or someone else .

Qwerty

No criticism of Enrique but has anyone noticed how many times he passes the ball behind Downing instead of ahead of him? People underestimate how long it takes to get a new partnership working in tandem. The longer Downing and Enrique play together on the left the more potent a force they'll become

Red Ollie

I feel sorry for Hendo. He was playing well, when he is played in the centre. But when we play against big sides, for me it seems he has been told to do a job, on the pitch. When I say do a job I mean, it looks like he's been told to put pressure on the opposition back four. Then he has been asked to track the opposition full backs. Sometimes he has to help out our back four, because Charlie is not suited to play in a back four and Steve isn't 100% yet.

We are asking a lot of someone so young and at a new club. But I think he has equipped himself well, so far. I would like to see him play just behind Luis when he comes back. I think this is Hendo's best position, we could get more out of him.

Instead of slagging the kid off, maybe we should get behind him. The kid puts in a good shift and runs his socks of for us.

That was the only part I was not paraphrasing. They were his exact words. "money is not an issue."
D.Liver {Ed002's Note - But don't interpret it as "we can afford to buy any player we want" because that is not what he is saying.}

Richards should be the england right back for the rest of this season then move aside bcos a certain Mr Kelly is going to steal it for a year before moving nicely to the middle, so then richards can have it back for good - oh no actually he cant because then flannaghan will be ready in a year or two! :)
Big Red Ed

Leverage me arse, he was blocking the ball with his hands cos it was a certain goal! I never slide tackle with my hands up in the air! Its not natural no matter what Jamie Redknapp or anyone else says... Look at Gerrards slide tackle attempt to block DeJongs goal and then say its not a penalty, or Kolorovs attempt to block Bellamys goal. People dont slide tackle like Richards for the penalty, the referee was sot on and was in a great position and seen the incident, end of

I've come down from the high of last nights result, seeing Kenny's face a full time - the emotion and elation - just shows how much the club mean to him.

The players really stepped last night, and as Kenny said, showed everything that was lacking vs Bolton. Drive, determination, composure were all some of the characteristics on show.

KK had the tactics spot on, I was surprised there was no Carroll, but Dirk Kuyt always steps up in the big games. The system too was flexible and could change depending on the situation to be a 4-4-2/4-5-1/4-2-3-1.

In the press, our new signings have been criticised, and quite rightly, but last night they showed some of the qualities which made up shell out millions.

Enrique was back to his usual self - charging up the left flank and composed in defence. Kept whoever was on his side in check whether it was Nasri, Silva or Johnson, and was unlucky not to get a goal.

Adam had a mixed evening, first the negative his defensive game. Got drawn in to Silva when he should have stayed on De Jong. A couple of times he lost possession when he was flat footed when the ball was aimed for him, this for me is a fitness issue. His fitness has improved since he joined, and will only improve the longer he is here. Positives, seemed to find his radar with his long passing and his shooting. He looked more of his usual self.

Henderson, I think has been unfairly criticised in the press. His work-rate and energy are impressive. Nothing flash in his game, does the simple things very well and will only improve for me. Add the fact he isn't playing his natural position, being stationed on the right or off the striker, he is adapting to being a LFC player very well.

Downing, I have been very critical of him in recent months, but he finally showed something like the form he has last season at Villa. He actually drove at Richards and Zabaleta and looked to hit the byline and put in crosses, a welcome change. Did well to cover Enrique and cover at left back when Jose bombed on. Could have had a goal but for a good Hart save, it was encouraging and hope he pushes on from this performance.

Bellamy, plenty has been said, he is fantastic! No more needs to be added.

I hope KK drills into the new boys that this is the minimum expectation of them, they should perform like this (and better) in every game, not just the semi-finals and finals. The league is our bread and butter, and we have a chance of getting that 4th spot and the riches that come with it.

RedSG

6th is as high as we can get, sorry. Call me ngative I guess. I call it realism. Next year should be better for the league now lets have high hopes for a piece of silverware which would be great.

Sad fact is that that was a "good" performance from Downing. Probably as good as he will be. Still way below what we need though.

I read with some agreement the praising reports around the performance of Craig Bellamy, who I agree had an outstanding game and it was fitting that he should score the decisive goal, however I have to stand up here for a lad on the pitch who worked equally as tirelessly as Bellamy but does not appear to be receiving the due praise.
Jordan Henderson last night was outstanding in yet another position that he would not call his own, he assisted Bellamy in the chasing down of the City defenders and then did the same across midfield, and on more than one occasion I recall him covering behind the full backs.
As the season has progressed I have watched this lad get better and better, and at the moment he appears to be going one way whilst our other summer signing Charlie Adam seems to be going the other way.
We have an issue in our centre midfield at the moment, whereby there appears to be some confusion with Gerrard,Adam as to who plays which role with neither preferring the defensive undertaking, I believe we would be more balanced in there with the return of Spearing and subsequently Lucas...
Anyway returning to my post...well done JH you deserve more plaudits for not only last night but youre ever improving performances over the last 4 - 6 weeks

Praise one player while slagging another.
Agree on Henderson his work rate is terrific but Adam showed flashes of brilliance last night which in the context of a team game.
11 players showing flashes of brilliance won't make a great team. 11 hardworking players will not make a great team either.
So a team has a balance and last night that's what we had. ALL OUR PLAYERS WERE SUPERB.
kidmillions

There was one moment when He (JH) sprinted from one wing to the other hassling the City defence where I thought he was actually doing too much because I thought nobody can sustain that. but he did. He ran himself ragged for the cause and deserves all the plaudits he gets.

Agreed. He ran his socks off and constantly forced City's back four to pass amongst them rather than to their midfield. Skrtel had an excellent game as well, and my only criticism would be Glen Johnson's performance who gave the ball away too much and should have block the cross for City's 2nd.
Really pleasing football and for me the determination to come from behind made the performance even better.

RiK

I think if you look back on city's second , it was Gerrartd you was at fault for allowing the cross to go in. A momentary slip , but with city's quality youre more unlikely to get away with it.

I wasnt slagging a player i was making a comparison regarding improvement, probably not wrote it correctly

Crosses go in, you can't block em all - who was marking Dzeko and pulled up on the six-yard line?

liverpool need to buy 2 strikers buy the end of the transfer window, we can't survive with bellamy playing every game.neither kuyt or carroll

Yes we can. Play Kuyt up front for a run of games and he's bound to score a few. Bellamy can play and torture defences every other game. Carroll can and will cause problems. I'd like to see a striker come in as much as the next guy but with Suarez returning in 2 games I definitely wouldn't say we need 2

Bellamy was great last night but I don't care what anybody says but Kuyt put in one of those great wholehearted performances that he has done so many times over the past 6 and a half years for Liverpool.

Mate i dont think any single liverpool fan if honest would ever doubt kuyt'sworkrate rate effort and loyalty.
but for all the running and chasing around he does he is technically not very good his passing and finishing are terrible. when compared to bellamy who also puts 100% every game and does just as much running and chasing its clear to see that kuyt needs to move on.
REDhunty

Totally agree and thought his play in the build up to Bellamy's goal was brilliant!

Keith

Kuyt has been a great servant to the club, there is no question about that. But he has no pace, and at times he seems so static, we need people to run off defenders and he just can`t do that. Ross

Kuyt is now a squad player, and if he's happy with that im more than happy to have him come in when needed. the problem has been his form, and people mistaking his performances as the limit of his capabilities. yes hes limited, but at HIS best he can be very effective (remember how he was instrumental in Hollands World cup campain, which they almost won)

Please Please lets not go to Wembley underestimating Cardiff and put in another performance like against Bolton and have much of the footballing world laughing at us if we were to lose.

Agree with big d! Kelly is a great prospect as are some of the younger right backs . If we sold Johnson I would hope they would get a chance and spend the money in other areas of the squad which need strengthening

31000 tickets for final and at the east end of stadium.
Train booked, hotel booked just waiting on match ticket for the treble, fingers crossed

Does anyone know when the tickets for the final go on sale?

Wouldn't it be best to wait until you actually have match tickets? It would very disapointing if you didn't get one after all that no?

Had my text this morning to say my ticket is reserved. Can't wait!!

hi guys great website. i have to say that it was emotional last night. looking at kenny after the game and we can see what it meant for him. bellamy and gerrard were the best players of the match. some players made mistakes during the game but the fans need to get behind the team and manager. i just hope we can win this weekend and get points from our next premier league games. what do u guys think?. thanks and ynwa

I would say kenny was under alot of pressure last night with league form and the owners were there to

Not been the biggest fan thus far but genuinely think that Stuart really showed what he CAN do tonight. Anfield can be such a pressure pot, such a difficult place to express yourself when things are not going right for yourself or the team that u almost retreat into you shell. I honestly believe that downing can be a real asset I think he needs a bit of support from us.
Jack the groove

Were you watching the same game? Worst player on pitch. Henderson is being a place holder until we sign a winger. The more I see of Downing, the more I think the stats guys signed him. Go get hoilett and a few players with pace.

I was impressed as well matey, 85 minute running back to defend. That's what I like to see.

Well said
kevc

Downing had his best game in a red shirt tonight. But like most LFC fans know, we play well against the big teams, its the smaller teams we struggle against, always has been

Downing was brilliant tonight, i am amazed with your statement !

Downing did his defensive duties, but contributed next to nothing in attack. Or was I watching a different game?

I think he did an alright performance but he's still not producing going forward and that's what we bought him for.
He's no way near justifying his price tag as he's meant to be at his peak.
He's meant to be supplying and supporting the strikers and the amount of times he drops back when we attack or positions himself out of contention for the ball is ludicrus

Have to agree downing looked good tonight, but never suprises me how some so called fans can still critise after a team performance. Real fans support the team through good and bad. Get off the players backs and support the side. Judge all the summer signings next season.

Downing was quality last night. U donkeys cant of been watching the same game! I thought every one of our players worked their arse off and responded to kenny's criticism. U idiots moaning about downing should go support someone else. We are Liverpool supporters, we support each and every player through thick and thin! If not, then JOG ON!!

It's a team game and the team played superbly well and Downing my friend was part of that team. Another point; City are very strong down the right side. So our left side did really well defensively.
kidmillions

The problem Downing has is that we do not commit enough men forward into the box! To me, he puts some great deliveries into dangerous areas but more often than not there is nobody there to get on the end on it. We can't expect him to put it on a sixpence everytime, and players have to bust a gut to get into the box and on the end of some of his crosses.

Downing had a cracking game, if people can't see this they either have an agenda with him, or just don't know their football. Give praise when it's deserved eh, everyone is so quick to criticise when he has a mare.

I though downing had a good game,
actually saw him taking on defenders and running past them. This is what he has to do take 2 or 3 people of out the game and open up defenses. He is really a key player for us and I think he is very talented but has been playing well below his potential. My feeling is that he has had a personal bollocking from Dalglish and it looked to have payed off. Well done Stu Downing, more of the same please, especially aginst man united.

Apologies to Ed for asking this if it's already been discussed. I only get on this site once a week and don't have the time to read a weeks posts.

Why are we looking rid of Glen Johnson? And if we are looking for a replacement in Muaricio Isla, how will this make Martin Kelly feel? I'm baffled on why we are looking at our right back position. Is Muaricio Isla really better than Glen Johnson or Martin Kelly? I wouldn't think so. And he'll not come to sit on the bench.

Sorry - this is also not a rumour. But obviously rumours have instigated this train of thought........ {Ed002's Note - Try the search function.}

Isla is one of the best fullbacks around. Way better than johnson. Finally the club is showing ambition, n ur moaning.

Had a brilliant and a long day yesterday.
Woken up after a few hours sleep (home at 3am) with a croaky voice, a few octaves lower than normal.
Anfield was rocking. I don't care what anyone says about new stadiums. There is no place like Anfield when the mood is right.
I thought the City fans were brilliant too. It looked like they hadn't sold out at kick-off but they filled up just after.
City fans - "Jamie Redknapp, your old man's going down" ! Lol.
I hope they got home alright, as there was a bad accident on the M62 just going out of town.
But respect to the City for making it a great night.
The Kenny doubters / haters ?
Lads, I have said before and I will repeat again. That man is LFC encapsulated.
And Jordan Henderson must have Red Bull running through his veins. **** me, that lad puts some work in, at top pace too. I do not want to read another bad work about that fella on here, I tell you.
If we're gonna have a go at anything Liverpool, it should be the price of the pies in the Kemlyn (it'll always be Kemlyn to me). £2.95 for a meat and tatie pie !
What !? I blame Sky myself...lol
The Real KB

Couldn't agree more about Henderson. At one point he was ten yards into the city half as a pass was played to a city player (forgot which one sorry, lager has that effect,) who was 20-25 yards away from Henderson, and he sprinted with every ounce of energy he had, every sinew and muscle straining to get back and close the player down and stop the attack in its tracks, bearing in mind it was the 80th minute..I can see similarities in his and Lucas' development (obviously they are different types of player.) Whilst i always supported Lucas, early on he did make some mistakes, but eventually came good. Henderson is making much less mistakes (but still getting stick for some reason) and is developing faster than Lucas. He is an exiting prospect not only for LFC but for England too, and soon the Henderson critics will worship his feet.

Morning Eds. I have been racking my brains wondering how the Carroll situation will unfold and wanted to get your take on it.

Clearly it is not working for him atm but what if things do not improve? There is no way any team is gonna buy him for anything near 35 million and theres no way the owners will allow us to make a significant loss on him...so whats gonna happen if in a years time he is still not playing well?

Its an interesting dillemma...im fascinated to see whats gonna happen with him.

Leo

Carroll is only 22 I'm sure he will get more than a year to develop. He was bought with the next 5-7 years in mind. Took rush 3 years to come good and we all know how that worked out for us.

Hey ED's!
What a game, my heart was in my mouth after Dzeko's goal. Great result Bellamy is a bargain and a half.

Anyways please please tell me the Hleb rumours are false. In my opinion he is an out and out has been. He has shown no consistency and/or good preformance in a long time and has been having fitness problems. I think he has played a handful of matches this season? ED002 wats goin on?

"26 Jan 2012 00:30:27
Made up for Kenny.Ive criticised as much as most.Emotional seeing his reaction. But lets keep some perspective. An older player won us the game(older player with pace!)Adam woeful.(and i rated him!)Hendo not much better.Carrol so poor doesnt start and fell over embarrassingly.Must address problems.Pacey replacement for Bellers needed.Sell Carrol,Adam."
You know you could have added your name to the above and how embarrassing your comments are. The whole idea of supporting the team through thick and thin is so you can enjoy and remember nights like last night. However it sticks in my throat when from about 19.15 Saturday night to 19.45 last night, all I've heard is Dalglish, Adam, Downing, Henderson, Carroll etc.etc. negative crap.

Naively I thought "well the knee jerk's will be quiet tonight, thank God just got to endure the "told you to trust King Kenny he knows what he's doing, finally Downing showed he was £20M etc.etc." quotes

But no. Some of you just can't leave it alone. Again I watched Downing closely last night. There's one thing missing. Confidence. He has the quality and when he drives at full backs he can get past them and deliver. This lack of confidence is down to a million idiotic fans showing their 'support' by saying he is crap. He's gone into his shell, too afraid of making a mistake and is sticking to basics. He needs to be one brave character to risk the wrath of the great knee jerks by sticking his neck out and going for it.

Take the first 5 mins. Enrique should/could have scored, the rebound fell to Downing and he sliced it over. Now instead of concentrating on the fact we had just created early doors and the positivity of our initial approach. Oh no, out came the "Feck me Downing is utter crap, look at that, did you see that? A bloody open goal" That came out of 15 blokes mouths in the pub, all in tandem. A little peep about Enrique missing? No. Doesn't fit the agenda. I'm sat there clapping, whilst the others are hurling abuse. However after 60 minutes these same idiots were roaring him on every time he got on the ball, as his performance on the night was very impressive.

How can anyone support a club or a player in this manner? I'd just like to sit in the pub drinking my beer with like minded souls who will encourage and support all game through, hands on head when things go wrong, rather hurling abuse at your own players. Downing? Thought it was one of his better displays, admittedly not enough at this level for our liking.

Henderson, I am really warming to. I cannot for the life of me work out what the issue is with many of the supporters. Last night, tactically he was spot on. He was the link with Bellamy, worked hard and whilst the majority of his work went un-noticed, I thought he was really impressive and he is going to be some player. Lots of improvement to come but the strides he has made already should be evidence enough.

Glen Johnson showed in one match his plusses and minuses. At fault for the second goal, along with Agger, but made a great surging run to set up Bellamy for our second.

Bellamy was outstanding and his performance reminded me a lot of Ian Rush in his heyday. That was how hard Rush always worked, chasing, harassing etc. I thought it was ironic that Bellamy went man to man on Savic. Mancini made a tactical howler selecting him as the middle man of a three pronged CB formation.

However last night showed our frailties both on and off the pitch. On one hand we cannot produce an effort like that against a top side on the back of a woeful performance days before and although the crowd was superb last night, against the likes of Norwich, Swansea on a Saturday afternoon it's a totally different kettle of fish.

We need to hit higher consistency levels. On and off the pitch. Whilst Saturday will be a carbon copy of last night, I worry about next Tuesday night's game away to Wolves.

So enjoy the highs and endure the lows in the manner expected. I may then enjoy the high's a little more than frowning at the fans that go from such extremes. And yes there were the odd "we can still win the league" shouts last night. Christ will they ever learn?

Bob the Red

I actually thought Henderson had a decent game yesterday. Some of his passing was awesome (forward, into space with pace to create decent attacks).
Adam didn't start too well, but after that arcing pass from the left that Kuyt couldn't quite get to, his confidence seemed to improve and he seemed to be everywhere for about 20 minutes after that pulling the strings.
Gerrard had a good match and covered a hell of a lot of ground.
Kuyt put in a performance we have been used to seeing of the last few years (his best game of the season so far).
Agger - classy
Enrique - better than at Bolton
Johnson - better than at Bolton
Skrtel - didn't really put a foot wrong and almost scored
Bellamy - my man of the match. Awesome display of pace, touch, technique and a desire to never give up.

Much wisdom in your post

Absolutely fantastic post Bob. I've always enjoyed reading your opinions so decided to reply to this one. I agree with everything you say. Some 'supporters' show far too much negativity when things are going wrong, but are straight on the band wagon after a pleasing performance.

"I'd just like to sit in the pub drinking my beer with like minded souls who will encourage and support all game through, hands on head when things go wrong, rather hurling abuse at your own player"
Unfortunately, I don't think you'll ever have the joy of this, the 'knee jerks' as you call them, are always out looking for someone to blame.

I'm completely with you on the Enrique chance, I applauded the play and when Downing sliced his effort, applauded that too - I mean come on, it's not the easiest chance in the world. At least he's having a go. As you said, confidence seems to be his biggest issue. At Villa we'd see him burst bast defenders and break his neck to get on the end of chances. Do you believe Enrique's attacking prowess stops Downing getting forward more often? They always seem to be on each others toes - Just a theory.

Regarding young Henderson, I writ a post a few months back and I too am very impressed with him. His attitude and commitment are second to none, he's so energetic and never gives up. I love to see this in a player. Not only does he have effort in abundance but he also has great quality. Yes, he is a little bit of a 'diamond in the rough' and needs a bit of work on some aspects of his game, but I truly believe will become a star at this club if he continues the way he is and has the backing of the fans.

Lets all hope for a fantastic final against an impressive Cardiff side. We should once again be able to call Wembley, 'Anfield South.'

All the best,
Curtiss

Well said Bob the Red,nice to see such a solid eam effort! Maybe Kenny will get them to see that if they perform like that week in week out,we have a chance of top four!
Tactically, the biggest difference i saw last night was Kuyt tucked in instead of Bellamy,Which meant we wernt too toothless up front! Not Slagging Kuyt because he worked hard for the cause and is struggling with confidence, but thought we looked better with Bellamy spearheading the attack!
The Downside being that Bellamy Probably wont be able to start against united, which is a big loss!
Anyway,Brilliant Result!

WelshBoy Dave

Good post again Bob. People seemingly like to criticise Henderson et al because they are not Silva, Mata or whoever without realising the complexity of the rebuilding job being done... it has to be step by step for long term success, not the "boom and bust" approach of G&H.
Hopefully the result kicks us on now... a number of players might have realised why it is so special to play for our club.... just wait until the return of Champions League nights!

Richards

One game at a time! Worrying about next Tuesdays game is in itself a Negative. You are only as good as your last game in Football and history tells us many teams have turned the corner on the back of one great result. So after last nights result we are very good! Look forward and don't look back, onwards and upwards you Redmen!

You're right kidmillions. But the important thing is to stick together, work hard, and stay positive. The rewards will come.

The real kb; Was just making the point one game at a time: I know Bob is a true red. It was the downfall of a great manager in Rafa looking too far ahead in my opinion and breeds negativity. Kenny understands how we've achieved our success as a Club in the Golden Years by one game at a time and see where it takes us at the end of the Season. If some of the younger supporters can understand this and see the bigger picture there would less criticism of the Club as whole.

Great unsung hero of last night? Agger. He is getting more and more classy. He is without doubt the classiest Central Defender of that ball-playing style since Hansen and is yet to reach his peak. Looks like his injury-proneness is well behind him. RED LENIN

It was his fault dzeko scored.

Unnamed poster - You could also say it was Gerrard's fault Dzeko scored for not blocking the cross. But both are wrong. We attack as a team, defend as a team. It was the teams fault we condeded that goal. But it really doesn't matter now.

Red Lenin - I hope you're right about Agger's injury worries. He is, without a doubt a world class player

The ball in to Dzeko from the City left was unplayable mate. Cross of the night.
The Real KB

He was at fault but he doesn't make many mistakes and will do his best to make sure he's not at fault like that again.

Henderson for me, although it really was a team performance...

Richards

Yeah but Agger was still classy when he allowed Dzeko to score :)

Have to applaud the cross from Kolarov, which was superb. Yes you could say Gerrard could have cut it out, but Johnson was a little slow in getting into that 'first defender zone', Agger just didn't follow the movement of the ball, probably thinking Johnson would do his job a bit better. Other than that I still like to know how the hell they managed to score twice last night? Completely bossed the entire game from start to finish.

Agger's only other mistake was in the 93rd minute when he allowed Dzeko to nod on to the overhead kick. If i'd have been playing alongside him, he'd have had the loudest bo**ocking, this side of the Atlantic :) I'd have done Pepe dance as well!

Bob the Red

The cross for their 2nd goal was impossible to defend an absolute peach of a cross - anyone at fault i dont think so maybe gerrard for not stopping the cross at source but to be fair the lad got half a yard and whipped in a beauty, take your hat off and applaud good play by the opposition as the KOP and LFC fans have always done and stop trying to blame every goal on one of our players.

bigg2966

Agger might have been at fault for the second goal, but he did block Dzeko's goal bound shot in the last couple of minutes and won us the two penalties. Team effort, plus situation on the second goal was too tight/hard to defend, cross was too good. Still our best CB. Some fans are just so tedious and picky..

There is no crisis at Liverpool, so please can all the boo boys and impatient LFC(ye know the ones who are calling Downing, Adam etc flops)just lay off. We have just beat the supposed best team in the country over 2 legs. We played fast-paced, passing, attacking football and always looked dangerous. We have 2 world class players to return (Lucas, Suarez). We have pasted a lot of teams this way but have lacked a little bit of quality fortune in fornt of goal. No-one at LFC will have a knee jerk reaction to this. Yes its important we finish 4th, but balancing the books is just as important.

Hand on your heart answer me these questions.
1 Have any of them players been flops
2 Are we wrong or not entitled to slag off players who are not playing well or committed to play for us
3 As manager is n't Kenny the one who picks team and if players do not perform then he has to take some stick if he persists in playing them
4 If we are wrong to criticise the players does that make Kenny wrong after the Bolton debacle. Becausethe way I see it since kenny has publicly stated what alot of fans thought then they seem to have put more of a shift in. whether some are good enough long term remains to be seen

There is a difference between a manager slamming players for not making the effort he knows they can, and crowds of so called supporters constantly calling for heads and slagging off players every time they set a foot wrong.

If you can't see the difference, imagine which you'd prefer as a player.

Right same team for Saturday. Wrap them all up in cotton wool & look after them, because for me, we've a more important game on Saturday. I want Man Utds scalp on a plate. We are at home, our tails should be up after last night & for obvious reasons the Liverpool fans at the ground have been waiting for this one. Let's make it really uncomfortable for their players, appeal every decision & make sure the ref makes the right decision in our favour. I Want the double

I agree with you Irish Rover. Unfortunately for us, Bellers may not play, taking into consideration his knee issues. Had we have a week to prepare, it could have been better but as it is now, we only have 2 days.

i think liverpool must have covered all these issue earlier in season, they buy players thn dont know where to use them.
to get into top 4 must have good bench strength, like man city / man utd / tot hot , just depends on carrol for goals makes him ineffective & out of form, same goes with saurez. look's his goal ratio.
no threat frm midfield.
must have 2 top class finishers with excelent coodination in front & middle with 2 good players from youth rank and use them as subs which will give them big match exposure. sorry to say only reason for good talent in small club is the way they nurture their young players, big clubs just need ready made supply,
sorry to say only miracle can push liverpool to top 4 finish. gud luk.

Suarez 150 goals in 250 appearances not including Internationals. Suarez arrived at Liverpool when the Club was in real turmoil.
Kenny had just taken charge Torres had just left we were half way down the League. We were also awash with deadwood.
Suarez himself had not played for a while due to a ban picked up playing for Ajax.
Between signing and the end of the Season he turned in some fantastic performances and scored some sensational goals and was universally touted as being World class. In the summer he went off to play for his Country in the Copa America got player of the tournament and a Winners medal. On arriving back at Liverpool he found he had a whole new bunch of team mates and even after all his exertions of the summer and Lfc in transition he again still turned in fantastic performances and score some super goals. Then we all know what happened.
Luis Suarez unlike Sergio Aguero did not have the luxury of stepping into a settled Club and team structure who had qualified for CL and also just won a Cup.
We havn't even seen the best Luis Suarez yet? After this enforced absence he will be back better than we've ever seen him; now that's something to look forward to.

what is it with the press and us, any other team would get the praise for being the better team over two legs, but for us its handed to us.

I agree everything about liverpool in the media seems to be from a negative slant even in the papers and radio today theyve mocked liverpools spice boy white suits(that was a fa cup final years ago, what it has to do with this years leauge cup) and that liverpool havnt been to wembley since that cup final but how could we it was being built,we went to cardiff 5 times which they seem to forget and also made out how lucky and wrong the pen was. How about them saying if it wasnt for joe hart the agg score would of been 6-2(what a shot stopper that lad is). the worst offenders are slysports who should realize that liverpool are the 2nd most followed club and its fans get sick of only seeming to talk about liverpool if its a negative story

Reading down the page here I came accross the gem

Carroll & Kun - Why Carroll is better for us than KUN

If you buy two players for roughly the same price 30 odd Million, one plays great but the other plays rubbish, its a better deal to buy the rubbish player as his cost in wages is about one third of that of the great player, you now have got the better deal in the rubbish player, HUH?

While we can't afford Kun's wages that doesn't jutify Caroll, does it?

26 Jan 2012 04:12:23
you can see now..how valuable carroll was on the bench ..priceless..so kenny dont make mistake again,if you do want buy new player, just play bellamy...and promote youth into first team to give their experience...im exciting want to see bellamy and suarez play together in front goal..

Like the majority on here you seem to be missing the point and not listening to what the Eds have been telling you. Did you not notice how lighter Andy looked last night to when we signed him? the Eds have been telling you that he has been on an intense training regime and that it might be a season before we get the benefits. KK said he is a long term player and they obviously have a plan for him.
Personaly I find it appaling that people come on here and claim they know more about what it takes to be a great forward than KK, and he obviously rates the lad.
RNred

Ah that's the reason Carroll keeps fallling over he's lost so much weight and conditioned that much that he keeps falling over he's now paper.

Kenny will have to get him stabilizers so!

Or else he might be just an awful player that seems disinterested, did anyone notice how much bellamy kept closing down on hart each time the ball was in the proxcimity of hart, did anyone notice when carroll came on he had the opportunity to do the same but never chased down the ball to hart, that tells a story in itself.

Lightweight Andy Carroll.

It is actually not II coriello del sport who is the source doe the isla to liverpool for 18m rumors, they just copy'd from the Chilean site La Tercera, who them self copied from.........Daily star.So it have no legs.

Basically it says that we have offered 23m dollar according to daily star, and that it might be uncertain because our KING Kenny is under "pressure" and might be outed.

so it is all a load of crap.....but it docent mean that we are not in for him.
by the way great site ed's

Hi Eds

Great game last night Downing played a very good game attacking the left wing trying to beat the right back hugging the touch line and at times successful if only to that every week Defensively Adam there's a big quenstion mark offensive his doing ok but we that Alonso type player that can slow and control the game in midfield.
But we are in the final

Thanks Eds
Zorro

Considering he only came on for the last few minutes, he wasn't busting a gut to chase anyone. just wish he would get his confidence back and start using his strength to his advantge.
lep72

Whenever he does use his strength the ref blows his whistle. there seems to be a different rule book for andy carroll

i think carroll played absolutely awful tonight ;)...

peter

For all of 3 mins didn't get chance to get into the game ?

He has always been awful for us. Its time for him n the club to part ways. Aston villa or qpr wud be a good fit for him. Bellamy was awesome tonite.
Indian Buzzer

For 4 mins he played awful that justifies it.

Do you still want to replace KK, Indian Buzzer, or are you supporting LFC today?

cozinoz

Jayus how can you say that not very fair on the lad.
k-h

Cozinoz u muppet, when did i say i dont support liverpool. n dont tell me u still think carrol will make it. The guy is holding us back.
Indian Buzzer

Oh and yeah cozinoz, i was really pleased with the performance. Kenny must have given them a bashing after bolton, but he is yet to prove he is still good enough to get us to the top of the ladder.

Just like last January we will blow the place up late in the window. Thw owners know that 4th is not unreasonable. Look at how Chelsea and arsenal are playing, they can lose to anyone every week. Same with us right now because we dont take games sertiously. We need another striker, obv, but Carroll to me is not the answer. we are a technical, pass and move team. I cant even believe how bad he is when i watch him. He has zero passion when he plays and his touch is terrible. Looks like he has stone feet
Thought the team played great today, we will be top four with another solid striker.

26 Jan 2012 02:47:23
really thought downing stepped up 2 d mark against city, final ball not spot on but kk's few attitude adjusters wit d team seemed worthwhile,
Kick on now lads
YNWA : J.C.K.

I thought he played like he's worth £20m to be honest. As the game went on his crossing became better and better, imagine if Andy was on to receive a few of them!

Why doesn't he play on the left more when Carroll does start? Often it seems one or the other starts, or Downing on the right... against Man U I'd like to see him do exactly the same again as last night but with Carroll starting... could help the both of them.

Liverpool are increasingly looking to bid for spartak moscow wonger aiden mcgeady.earlier reports suggested that liverpoll would bid for him in summer but the interest of liverpool have compeled to spartak moscow to sign bilyaletdinov as a replacement of mcgeady .the deal for mcgeady would be around 10 mil pounds.-mihir

I really hope not. He's quick, but has no end product

He nearly ended up at Liverpool a couple of seasons ago and even changed agent rady but it was part of a carousel chain of transfers and one fell through scuppering the others. He has no end product and his 'social life' roften results in him being 'tired' at training.

26 Jan 2012 02:36:22
I've supported this club for as long as I can remember. Kenny is a legend but he just is not the man for the...oh, we won. Nevermind.

26 Jan 2012 02:33:58
I hate to be so negative, Its great we made the league cup final, but it will mean virtually nothing if we end up 7th and get knocked out of the FA cup by Utd... we need Champions league and quick or we are going to end up only having a realistic chance of picking up the least trophy each season.. Kenny we need a right winger and a striker ti have any chance of 4th...

Not to be negative about not reaching top 4 but if we win the Carling Cup we're guaranteed Europa League, not where we wanna be really but 4th place still there, Suarez back next weekend will make a huge difference

Rocky

We all hate the fact you are being so negative...

It must be sad to have such a negative outlook ......I feel sorry for you! Enjoy the moment and be happy we're on our way to Wembley.

So what exactly could we have done last night to make you positive?
NOT reach the final?

I sat as close to the Director's Box tonight as is possible.........directly above their entrance! Wish that was where my season-ticket was but anyhoo....few things I picked up on.
Lucas was sat behind me with his dad, Luis Suarez with his tasty missus and his kid, Spearing, Flanno and Jack Robinson.
Lucas Leiva is a great bloke and Suarez is going nowhere this window....I was impressed with the aura of enthusiasm from the general area....Rushie, Hansen and Thommo were more or less in front of me, as were JW Henry, Comolli, Werner etc. Saw Henry's missus close-up and she's gorgeous!
Commoli was there so any "rumours" stating he's in France/Spain/Portugal etc. are untrue.
I won't pretend I overheard any conversations re transfers but the general mood seemed to be ;
a) Pleased with the result
b) Ecstatic with free-signing Bellamy (the reception he got when coming off was superb)
c) So-so re Henderson and Adam but more positive towards Downing
Sorry can't state things like "overheard Comolli saying".....etc.
What I will say, though, is Kuuyt isn't a Liverpool player and Johnson is not better than Kelly!
Replace those two and we'll have a chance...though Maxi, Kuuyt, Johnson, Carroll and Downing are all expendable.
ANFIELDPETE

Think I must've been sat next to you mate!
Best seat I've ever had!
Just along from Patrick Vieira and Mick McCarthy?

Owners are in Liverpool for a reason, they're signing someone, dont know who, but they are.

Rocky

Having a go at Johnson? After last nights Performance? Beggars Belief?

The owners are here because this is the last week of the window and also because of the semi-final last night and the FA cup game this saturday. It's a big big season-defining week - that's why they are here.

Your wrong there as on sky they showed Luis and he was sitting next to Lucas and some bloke

Ed001,are you finally convinced Gerrard is a boss penalty taker these days?
Jonson {Ed001's Note - he is looking a lot more assured these days, though my heart was still in my mouth earlier!}

There are moments being a Liverpool
supporter that will stay with you all your life. Last night, Gerrard slotting in the Pen
against hart and making the 2 sign as he celebrated was one of them for me. But not taking anything away from Hart, he was a class act in goal for City.

Even though he missed against Everton, Kuyt is the player that I am always confident will score from a penalty. Chelsea in CL semi, anyone? That was coolness personified!

Yeah i like Gerrard for Pens,Doesn't let the occasion get to him and thats a good thing,Athletico in last minutes,Arsenal,Two against Citeh,Get in there!

Gerrard is the man, but i'm never worried when kuyt steps up either. cruel of tim howard to pull off that ridiculous save in the derby. kuyt could've had his 50th goal and kept his 100% record.

Ed do you rate Alexander Hleb, what do you think about him. I thought he wasteed his time in football, Arsenal was right sized club for him and he was never going to get a game at bara. {Ed001's Note - wasted talent for me, mostly because he got constant niggling injuries that stopped him reaching his potential. It's a shame, because on form he was brilliant, a real talent, but he was never able to showcase his talent consistently.}

The same goes for Flamini

Liverpool should look to bring in one World Class player. They should be looking for a summer signing.

26 Jan 2012 01:43:08
The question is who would you drop from that team.

We have Kuyt, who isn't playing every game, but a great player.

We have Andy Carrol who isn't playing week and week out.

Jamie Carragher has been watching more games than playing them. So you have to wonder what is going on at the club. For me carragher should play for 45minutes.

Kuyt should be on the pitch always,
Luis Suarez
Gerrard should be our starting line up. those three would give any team a hard time.

Iv noticed how liverpool seem to have functional players, but not player class players. We have a team that wouldn't really be improved by the run of the mill players being associated to us.

Finding a Javier Mascherano would change us back into a world class team. Finding a Emmanuel Frimpong would be magic for us. A beast who could run the show in middle of the park.

Lucas > Macherano. Kuyts form has been way off this season and caragher is getting quite old plus skrtel and agger are doing just fine(besides bolton). the main areas for improvement are fowards and the wings

Carra quite old at 33 Jaysus @ 44 I should be dead

Can anyone recommend a place where you can buy Carling Cup Final tickets at a reasonable price?

The prices I have seen are just a complete skank. I could have a weeks all inclusive holiday in the sun for the price of the cheapest ticket that I found so far!

Thanks for any help!

Go through the club.
Are you on the auto-cup ticket scheme?
I'm afraid to say, any tickets not bought officially through LFC might be over-priced

Has anyone seen Brad Pitts new movie, Moneyball (2011), Its the story of how statistics where used to try to win the league instead of scouts. Oakland Raiders Billy Beane characture was played by Brad Pitt. Oakland A's general manager Billy Beane's successful attempt to put together a baseball club on a budget by employing computer-generated analysis to draft his players. The movie went through the whole art of finding players that could deliver according to cost. Vaule to form by breaking down what they do on the pitch then find vaule for money.

At the end of the movie they had John Henry Character, who bought the concept and tried hiring the people that came up with the idea. Boston Redsox then went on to win the league within two years by using cost to reward of a player.

It did mean making the manager useless in the whole process and getting ride of any decent players that the coaching staff liked better. Are they trying to apply the same concept to Liverpool and would such a concept work in a game like Football.

Martin O'Neill is a big fan of finding people so he can play for free kicks, corners and other set peices. A person like Laursen would have more value and good value to cost attached to him when sunderland got him from birmingham. Able to play in very good balls for minimal outlay.

For the cost Craig Bellamy seems to be good vaule. Martin Laursen the old Aston Villa player was good vaule for setpeice goals he could give the team. Rory Delap at stoke csn throw the ball in like a corner. Old Duncan Ferguson at Everton could play into his 40's because he just stood upfront kinda reminds me of Andy Carrol.

Last year enrique, Henderson and Adams had great stats for what they did on the pitch in the premiership.

Our ball game is bigger than baseball. football is played all over the world. So the pool of stock to choose from is like an ocean. Plus the manager would look to play them his way.

Would such a concept be possible. Some how I think Arsene Wenger manages it at Arsenal. But he is the manager of the club from top to bottom. So he can apply the concept of vaule for money according to how he wants them to play on the pitch.

A general Manager/Director of football just doesn't work. unless both the manager and DF are on the same page all the time. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain seems like very good value for money if your looking at what he can do for the £11m paid.

Understand what you're saying, and kind of agreed with most of it until the Arsene Wenger statement.
Wenger is not a statistical based manager. He trains his teams to play football in small areas. He appreciates technically gifted players. No model or trend could do that.

What was up with Carroll not celebrating and heading straight down the tunnel? Do you think his time is up? Surely if he was going to stay and make a mark he should have played all 8 games while Suarez was banned??
Southall scouser

Carrol hasn't been giving the enough a player of his size and strengh could give up front and kenny knows it. They put him on special training programs.

He cost a lot of money, but he isn't justifying his place on the pitch. We tried selling him and no one wanted him. Its all gotten to a bitter place.

The thing i don't understand about millionaire players like him. He gets paid well, he is a professional so why don't they behave in that manner. Why are they not happy? why do they do stupid things and expect free ride.

-Professional has to Train Hard,
-Drinking like Gazer isn't the way to go, Andy Carrol really could go very far off track. Fergi used that statement with Rooney in attempt to straighten the player up
-Has alot of expectation on shoulders
-Is expected to repay fan for lifestyle they give him

We should loan him back to Newcastle for the rest of the season. Get Ba in on loan. It might cost us £10million but really isn't working out for andy here, he needs to go back home. We need a better quality player. Mike Ashely is money grabbing pie eating pig who would jump at the idea

Kenny would of been out of a job if he played all 8 games. He just isn't putting in the training.

Players have to show they want on to that pitch, this is the biggest club in the world.

I was sat in the Paddock and saw Andy Carroll celebrate with his team mates, shake hands with his team mates and opposition, and then walk down the tunnel.
Gerrard, Reina, Kuyt and Bellamy stayed our a bit longer, but most of the others went in.
I get really frustrated at how poor journalism catches like wildfire. I heard this rubbish about Carroll "storming down the tunnel" after the final whistle on 5Live after the game.

It seems that people are believing it.
It's absolute rubbish and he, like every other one of the lads deserves our full support.
If you don't want to give it, you're not welcome.
Joe

Why would Newcastle take caroll and then give Liverpool ba? Why?

Load of nonsense I was at the game, he celebrated when we scored and when we won... He just didn't stay out as long as some... Stop trying to slate him very game

26 Jan 2012 00:56:43
Andy Carrol didn't play tonight. Kenny was pissed at the squad for poor enough. Are Carrols days numbered at the club? Luis is back in two games.

I think we play better with Kuyt, he is the legs of the team. We need his running on the pitch, plus he knows how to get goals. Granted he isn't going to cross balls in that great, but his workrate make up for that.

Also Downing should be getting the crosses in, G-Johnson should be able to go the same from the other side.

Gerrard played well, he played deeper and was more responible tonight. He over saw that midfield. He worked for the team. None of this standing upfront.

Agger player very well. Like seeing him step up and get stuck in.

Agger was the cause of the second goal ball watched instead of getting in front of Dzeko

Really don't know why Agger is a sacred cow?

I would just like to mention the yanks FSG, im delighted for them, all they have put into our club and how they saved us, they really deserve this final, they made promises, they kept their promises, we have made a final in their first full season at the helm, i know the win was down to Kenny, Clarke, Keen and the players but we wouldnt have done it without the yanks, great to see them there tonight as well!!

26 Jan 2012 00:36:13
Ild put Downing upfront,if bellers cant play saturday.Need pace.Maxi out wide

To be fair downing cant finish his dinner

26 Jan 2012 00:35:03
Doesnt tonight prove todays game-pace essential.All areas.more so,upfront!4 top strikers-every club nowadays!

Denfend from the Attack. Workrate and Pace is everything in the game. Starting games faster and harder means wearing the other team down.

Starting at a 10 is better because the tempo can always be taken down a little, but recently we have been starting at a 1 and wondering why average teams have walken all over us.

26 Jan 2012 00:33:13
Point still remains-Knew tonight wasnt in doubt-Why have that passion and commitment tonight, and not every week.Big shout out to bellers,Enrique,Agger,Stevie.Kuyt put in decent shift

A rainy night in Bolton isn't the same as national live coverage. A chance of going to the final and also all those scouts and TV sponsors and also your own mon and dad watching you. TV games bring more out of the players because it goes world wide where as Bolton game isn't really shown and has no real importance in some players mind. They can coast it to a more important game.

Its the modern way and remember we have been buying players from Midtable teams who hope for nothing. Its a poor habit bought into the club this season.

Carrol> Newcastle.
Henderson> Sunderland
Downing> Aston Villa
Adams> Blackpool
Glen Johnson> Portsmouth

Players from these clubs, like to coast easy fixtures and save it or rest up alittle for a big sunday game against utd. Well these players will end up burning out if they play at 100% all the time. They use this technique to avoid injuries and fatigue.

Where as topclass players with higher standards like Dirk kuyt, Gerrard, Suarez play at 100% in every game becuase they hold themselves up to that standard. Thats the difference between champions leauge players and rest of them, putting in the enough everyday.

Rooney>Everton
Ramsey>Cardiff
Barry>Aston Villa
Milner>Aston Villa
A.Johnson>Middlesbrough
Smalling>Fulham
P.Jones>Blackburn
Ferdinand>West Ham
Valencia>Wigan
Lampard>West Ham
Ba>West Ham
Parker>West Ham
Bale>Southampton
Defoe>Portsmouth

Those players seem to be doing alright...

To the eds and fans, I never knew Shankly's ashes were scattered in Anfield did you? Just for this reason I think Anfield should be kept, that is pure passion to the roots, we should all be very proud indeed.

I get what youre saying ed, but its more than 'sentiment'. {Ed001's Note - for me I would never leave Anfield anyway, if possible.}

Will i be able to buy the pitch? when they knock it down. my garden needs some green and i have my own van.

If we move from anfield anyway they can't dig up the pitch or build on it, it's got to be kept because fans ashes are also scattered on it.

If they can't build on Anfield,
because of fans ashes scattered there, what will we do with it if we move? Sell it to Everton? Heaven forbid!

Eds, if Johnson is to be sold and Kelly is a better right back, why are we looking to spend a fair whack on a new right back.

Seems to be we should rely on Flannagan who clearly showed his worth last year as cover for kelly?

25 Jan 2012 23:58:24
Ok I'm prepared to get shot down for this and am aware of the eds 90,000 a week comments but why isn't Martin Kelly at right back and Glen Johnson right wing?

Johnson has shown he can get forward, is good at beating players and links up well. Look at tonight for example he was out of position for the man city 2nd goal but perfectly positioned to set up bellamy.

Further example is the winner at chelsea.

Why pay millions in a poor transfer window when we can wait till summer and fill the gap?

Any views eds?

Cheers

Rob

YNWAJFT96 {Ed005's Note - It's because Johnson had a clause put into his contract saying he had/has to play RB. Unfortunate. Kelly is a far far far better defender.}

Is this a clause which Johnson wants ed? Because surely he wouldn't mind playing RW? {Ed005's Note - It is the clause he has mate, Ed001 is the one with the info regarding it though.}

Just because Johnson can't defend-or can't always defend- doesn't make him a right winger. Playing him there would be a backward step, for me.
Rigsby.

How did he play lb then ?
LTP THE RED {Ed001's Note - because he agreed to it. That is what I am told anyway, though I wouldn't believe it myself if it wasn't that Johnson has been so poor and still getting picked every match.}

I tend to think that despite his poor performance Glen is picked to play every game only due to financial considerations. Playing Kelly instead may slash Glen's transfer price (he may lose his place in England squad and so on). Considering initial cost of his transfer to Anfield, which was inflated way too much, this is not what we would like might we want to sell him in summer. Obviously he has commitment problems. Does he think he knows better than managers where to play? Priority is to show a decent team play, not the action of players taken separately, isn't it? But what the hell, he doesn't seem to be consistently fulfilling even that bit...

Jack.
