Ed can you make the post reply system in Rumours the same as in Banter? Because right now I have to click on a link to view the replies and it takes me away from the main page. Thanks

Arsenal bid 18 million for Juan Mata didn't see that coming.....I think we may lose out to them unless we our looking elsewere or already have a player in mind.....

Liverpool Have agreed a Deal with Blackpool 9million for Charlie Adam, Adam set to have his Medical tomorrow.
Liverpool have also sealed the deal for Stewart Downing for 18 million he will have his Medical 1 day this week.
While Juan Mata is set to snub Barcelona and other clubs battling for his signature and sign for Liverpool as his father has said he has a desire to join Liverpool.

a post from earlier about avarage players

if were nailed on to sign adam and downing how much do you think were gonna spend ???
henderson 16.5 mill adam around 8 mill downing around 16 mill thats over 40 mill and we stil need a left back so if we do sign the above 2 i dont expect to see much more signings .I would prefer to sign 2 of these three mata 18 mill and turan 14mill or payet 9 mill ed do you agree ??? potentialy world class

26 Jun 2011 23:43:29
LFC will continue to finish in the top 4 due toseveral factors - The first being we fail to bring any world class players to the club unless they are at the end of there tender -Management has also been an issue but I believe Daglish will iron any issues out -Bottom line is our team has not enough world class players , Downing , Henderson , Adam - unfortunately dont do it for me - Look at chelsea - They have the players but we have the heart - There is only so much heart you can give - Lets get some big names in for once X

love the reply button only suggestion would be to have it drop down instead of redirect to a new page but is a great add on feature. {Ed001's Note - we had to do it this way, we trialled it a while ago the same as the banter page and the page just got filled up with anything but rumours. Maybe in the future we could change it to be a button that makes it drop down, but right now the server couldn't handle it.}

26 Jun 2011 23:32:33
Just a quick question, I always thought kelly would be are replacement for carra and was just playing rb to get games and because we had lb problems, but as we supposedly want a cb and johnson has years left in him were does that leave kelly, any thoughts?

26 Jun 2011 23:22:05
mata is going to arsenal as they have bid 18 million is the 18 million to start the price war

26 Jun 2011 23:19:28
to be honest i would rather sign joey barton for 3mill hes 28 we would save 5 mill and joey has more to his game ie: good tackler decent passer scores as many goals he has a bit more pace and if i aint wrong he set up as many goals as adam who is around 26 ITS JUST MY OPINION???? IF THERE BOTH ONLY SQAUD PLAYERS I WOULD CHOOSE A BETTER ALL ROUNDER AND SAVE 5MILL WOT DO U THINK ED DO I HAVE A POINT ? {Ed001's Note - no you don't.}

26 Jun 2011 23:19:13
ed would you be happy with:
adam
downing
mata
zapata
park chu young
henderson

not sure on lb
DORSET RED {Ed001's Note - add Jose Angel and I would be very very happy!}

I was visiting a friend of mine last week and one of his fellow patients who thinks he's Napoleon reckons we'll sign Cattermole, Downing and Lennon. Unfortunately for him, a doctor overheard his rants and upped his medication. When the sky-high buffoon quoted £20m for Lennon, £20m for Downing and £10m for Cattermole the doctor had him forcibly restrained. I thought this a little unfair until he announced to the gathering throng that Gael Clichy and Charlie Adam were done deals at a combined £20m, Charles N'zogbia was as good as ours at £11m and the centre-back we so badly need would be announced the next time he was allowed out......but don't be surprised if it's Wes Brown.
What happened next probably breaches all sorts of Human Rights laws but if you really want to see a naked man in a Napoleon hat tethered to a satellite dish on the roof of a mental institution then get yourself down to Bedlam Hospital.
Apparently the Aaron Lennon comment swung it
The friend I was visiting apologized for Napoleon's outbursts and said he'd never been more embarrassed in his life. He also added that, in his humble opinion, we'd be signing Sergio Aguero and Eden Hazard in a double-swoop.
Sadly, the only "double-swoop" that day resulted in my friend sharing a padded-cell with Napoleon.
Mad people, eh?

Samba to Liverpool
---------------------------
Would actually love to see this happen, any imput from the eds on their opinion of him and if he could do a job for the pool ? {Ed009's Note - I think Blackburn are trying to keep hold of the player after the loss of their other first choice centre back Jones, and if he leaves anywhere it will probably be to Arsenal.}

26 Jun 2011 22:52:01
There are some miserable ignorant pricks who post on this site. True Liverpool fans know the highs and lows and believe me you Johnny come Lateleys, this is not a low. Be proud and support the club or f*** off. You will not be missed

26 Jun 2011 22:47:15
HI ED what are the chances of us signing a top qualitie centre half i personally have heard that we could be in the market for simon kjaer what do u think our chances are of signing this player {Ed009's Note - if Kjaer leaves Wolfburg it will probably be back to Italy.}

26 Jun 2011 22:44:41
Did rafa not sign shelvey?

26 Jun 2011 22:24:41
SLOW, SLOW & SLOWER that appears to be Liverpool's approach to the transfer window. We need to get players in now as we need to be targeting top four next year. At the moment it looks as though our targets are going elsewhere Jones, Young, Payet, Gervinio, Mata, Cahill, Enrique. What we are doing now worries me as we will now look at are '2nd' list which brings less quality.

Macca mentioned we would sign Downing and Adam would be done over a week ago. Lets face it Liverpool want Adam but he will end up going to Spurs or Villa because we are slow. Comolli is no different to Parry which means we will also miss out on Wickham

A worried red

26 Jun 2011 22:22:21
Something all of us will love to hear Titus Bramble will be going to the scum ( Everton) to replace Yobo

26 Jun 2011 22:19:43
Eds, an Irish newspaper (Sunday world) states man city are set to beat man utd to the signature of Juan mata, not mentioning Liverpool at all in this pursuit what u think of this considering houghton and aldrige both do daily reports for this paper I feel disheartened feels like we set targets and the rest
start sniffing.

Little scouse {Ed001's Note - I wouldn't read too much into it to be honest.}

26 Jun 2011 22:18:54
{Ed009's Note - I may well get crucified but in all honesty yeah I would. I think he made mistakes but who hasn't? He quite clearly loved the club and I think a lot of the comments made were to endear himself to Chelsea - he did still emphasise his belief that we were a great club. I have too many brilliant memories of him - perhaps more than with any other player - to refuse a chance to see him in red again. Unfortunately this is all pointless as there is very little chance lol.}
------------------------
I know, but you feel better now don't ya having got it off your chest lol
Never say never i guess but i think maybe he burned too many bridges with some fans to tell the truth
His heart just wasn't in it at the end either - never worked hard like he used to
But ya never know?
Fowler came back (i know there were much different circumstances to his first departure)?
Cheers & Good night all

26 Jun 2011 21:05:09
if there is any truth in the rumour of jonjo shelvey going to blackpool on loan as part of the adam deal....well i would just love that, he for me is a typical roy hodgson signing....rubbish, he runs around like a bull at a red coat, no quality at all, i appreciatte he's young, but the only reason he has seen first team football is because our squad is so poor, ie christian pousen say no more, he needs to go out on loan and learn his trade in a team that is'nt dying to get back in the most elite competition in europe, he will never help us get there, he's average at best, he is not the future of lfc or the future steven gerrard, ed's do you know anything of this?? {Ed001's Note - he was to be part of the offer for Adam, that is all I know.}

26 Jun 2011 22:07:40
One name not mentioned that looks like he could turn into a world class winger under the king IGOR MUNIAIN , great pace bags of skill to get to by line and whip the balls into Big CARROLL :D

26 Jun 2011 21:58:46
Don't get why we haven't talked more about the CH position
If soto really has got an extension I worry that all the talk about who going to score and create are undermined by poor defensive stability
JC a hero but slowing up
Agger is just a sicknote
Skrtl reliable but one paced
That's it in reality ....
Kelly an option I guess
But don't we need two not just one?
I don't know where to start a rumour here
Grateful for eds and others view on who's going to solve this particular problem {Ed009's Note - I don't think there is much chance at all of signing two centre backs, we simply can't get every signing that we would in an ideal world. Dann remains a potential option for that position.}

26 Jun 2011 21:58:11
I don't care what anyone says, Kelly is by far our best RB better than Johnson and Flanno

26 Jun 2011 21:57:01
Sorry for going of topic,

Has anyone seen Martin Skrtel modelling a cap on the Liverpool Website? He looks like a Eastern Europeon Holigan Seriously when I saw it i had to lol

i have been a big fan of this site since before the cowboys from Texas got ousted, i am a first time poster on here, and some of the things what my fellow supporters on here say, make me grimace, ie. doubting the judgement of the king and moaning about the players who are maybe coming to our shores, i just wait and see what the new season will bring have faith, and trust the king ynwa, great job you edds are doing

26 Jun 2011 21:38:41
Does anybody think that KK is looking to put together a Liverpool team of Old, as I feel he is looking at Adam to be the "Molby" of our Midfield, not quick - or essentially the fittests but what a pass, frre-kick and game intelligence, to be honest the targets of which i hear, suggest he is bringing back the old team just with new faces? Any thoughts eds?

Thanks as always

Jamie

26 Jun 2011 21:33:37
Please KK & DC, get shot of Aquaman who really doesn't want to play for us and keep hold of the dynamic Raul.... ..... Btw I hope we sign Adam soon whilst I feel we may look elsewhere. Great site Eds... I'm hooked.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have never made a bid. The bid in January was made by Chelsea who had lengthy discussions in Monanco.}

Are we going to sign players before we get rid of the shi&e or after ?

Read the papers view today that joey barton can leave newcastle for as little as 3m surely that is a bargain, he seems to of got over his bad days personally and he is a very good footballer, maybe in a better side he would be even better. For this amount of money we could sign him and allow spearing and shelvey, both of which i have doubts about been lfc class to go out on loan to get some games in and hopefully improve.

26 Jun 2011 21:26:01
Barca have not got the cash for sanchez, rossi, mata and fabregas so they will more than likely get only one of them given the inflated prices so its looking good on the mata front as far as liverpool are concerned

D690

26 Jun 2011 21:23:18
In my opinion if liverpool sign Stewart downing then chances of signing mata will fade.
I think liverpool are looking to sign mata first and downing is a second choice that is why there is so much delay in signing downing.
And all the romours of 20 million price tag of downing are not real.
That's my opinion please give your opinion......

Nicely said Ed001, this site is about banter as well as rumours People come up with ridiculous rumours and the Ed's take the mickey out of it Put they don't ask for an apology, they share a chuckle ;) Grow up and get a job and a sense of humour mister/missus

Well said Rob.

People need to lighten up, and not take anything too seriously. It's about good banter as well.

Think i saw this rumour already on the site but i've also heard Jonjo Shelvey will be going on loan to Ipswich as part of the Wickham deal

26 Jun 2011 20:47:23
Everyone has an opinion and that is what this great site is about rumour and opinion, my own is that i believe we really need to go all out for a marquee signing my favourite would be mata. Having said that we are up against being succesfull with this type of signing when (A) chelski and man city can outbid us and (B) they and man utd arsenal can offer champions league. Therefore you start thinking well the likes of Adam and downing who dont have a fancy foreign name or come from a sexy latin country actually are exactly what we need excellent proven premier league footballers, both of which got over 10 goals each in average teams last season. so therefore i trust in KK to make the right signings and take us back to the top.

26 Jun 2011 20:44:11
Stadium developments - full survey has been undertaken on anfield in the past 2 weeks to assist the feasibility study.

I know that everyone thinks that it is just the main stand and anny rd that needs doing but the upper centenary is 20 years old next year and the kop will be 20years old in 3 years both of these will need work doing to them eventually if we are going to redevelop the ground.

the battery on my phone used to last me a good day and a half, now it's silly season this website is having my phone last about 10 hours Haha, quality site, awfully addictive, looking forward to the adam deal being sorted, he will bring alot of quality and vision(not comparing him to alonso but we've had no real vision apart from stevie since alonso left), and i also think downing would add quality, we need a squad with depth, both these players can add something to a squad, we've not had a decent 'squad' for more than a few seasons, get the new boys in, and lets get up the table, oh and can people stop boring us to death with the alonso BS, and 1 more rant, this bull about ' he's not lfc quality is rubbish, if you buy a good player a manager should be able to make them a great player, king keeny is the man to do that

26 Jun 2011 20:16:06
I know Wickham is a very good prospect but i personally think we need another top, proven forward as Suarez won't be ready for the start of the season due to The Copa America.
Even if it was just a season long loan for someone like Gomez from Bayern (If they'd let us have him that is).
Just feel we'll be very light up front with only 2 top forwards (Just Carroll until Luis is fit) for the season.
Wickham not ready to carry the burden on his own i'd imagine?
Anyone agree / disagree?
Cheers,
Irish Kev. {Ed009's Note - I think Kuyt is a more than able deputy, but whether he and Carroll would work well together is debatable. We could play a loan striker with Gerrard just off them perhaps?}

26 Jun 2011 20:15:41
ed009 my son recons we are putting together a package for iggle piggle, he is at melwood having a medical right now. KK recons he is long term replacement for Carragher.

26 Jun 2011 20:02:26
Who actually would be pleases with replacing Meireles with Adam? Agree/disagree (personally I think it a poor decision if it happens)

26 Jun 2011 20:00:52
I know who Macca is. Here is clue, my son watches him every night on the tv, before he goes to bed. He speaks a bit funny and is always in the garden. Thats why he only posts a couple of times a week. So when my son starts speaking i will let use in on the big transfers. {Ed009's Note - MACCA PACCA!}

ello eds and fans , just sumik id like to say tbh but we aint reli looking like were goin forward with our squad do we . lets just say we go like downing and charlie adams and lennon add henderson to that and it looks like this .

lennon.......henderson ..........adam.........downing

it doesnt look like a gd midfield atal to b honest few reasons
1. lennon can run fast but cant cross so no gd there .
2.downing can cross but cant run pass no 1 hes to slow .so two wingers that pointless having .
3.adam and henderson aint reli liverpool material lets b honest unless they prove they have wat it takes but its taking that risk ?

tbh i just think were wasting money on taking risks and theres no point wasting money on risks theres no time for that what do people thinking ?eds??thanx {Ed009's Note - I don't know why you suddenly remove Lucas and Gerrard from the centre of midfield and I don't know why you presume we will be buying Lennon either. I am almost certain we won't.}

26 Jun 2011 19:54:58
I just want to make reference to a post I made few days ago, our new signings this summer may not be an Aguero, Sanchez, Neymar, Mata etc signing , but they wil be players that KK thinks will improve the squad and can be developed into the LFC way. I have no doubt that quality players are been targeted, perhaps there will a couple of suprise signing, maybe there won't. I will support fully any signings that are made, the amount posters and sometimes Eds, saying this player is good enough or not good enough is ridiculous, I am not been a smart arse or having a go at Eds or fellow posters, you don't KK views on certain players, to say he might agree with you is like saying you might win the lotto next week . You don't know,
The only person that knows are KK & DC.
I respect that this is a rumour site, but do some people actually think before they come up with a rumour, transfer policy and transfer targets are only discussed at senior level, the board and senior management (KK and DC), playing staff and coaching staff will be told when they need to know, so I hardly think Sammy Lee is gonna be involved in any of these discussions
Transfers will be conducted in the LFC way, quietly and people informed on a need to know basis the way it should.

Sorry for the rant Eds, but I had to get that off my chest

Joey Barton has been put up for sale by Newcastle for around 4M, I personally don't think he would be a bad buy, he's a good player with good delivery and we will all agree on the man is a big character, KK could solve his temper problems, great mates with Stevie G too. Could happen

26 Jun 2011 19:39:48

Not quite a rumour but last week a guy made a comment that there is goig to be a suprise signing. What was interesting is that he said that the suprise signing would be on the coaching staff. Can that guy enlighten us a little?

I'm going to muse a bit. I recon that as both Borrell and Segura are at LFC it could be Pep G. With those two in the setup its an easy fit for Pep due to their familiarity with him and the Barca method. It fits the FSG philosopy. They know that when KK steps aside they will need some one young, proven and with a method of playing. Part of the Barca setup is with us in Borrell and Segura and it is not as if Pep would come in blind. He could work under KK and along with Borrell and Segura while waiting in the wings, the Liverpool Way. It would make a smooth transition for the club. Conspircy theory? Possibly.

Musing on the above I must admit that I read on the site that Pep was going to take over managing Spain in a couple of years. If that is true the above is blown out of the water. If it isn't the above is a bit wild but I don't think FSG want to be left without a plan for transition of a manager when the time comes. Pep is young (not Boas young), dignified, non-confrontational and will in time need a new challenge to prove that his success is not due to being in the right place at the right time in history, a la Messi, Xavi, Iniesta and Puyol, nor is he riding on the waves of success of previous Barca managers before him.

Just a thought

Any reasoned thoughts would be interesting.

I would have thought that even if we are trying to buy British players, it is still better to wait for the international window to open. Before 1st July, any transfer activity gets full scrutiny and focus from all clubs and media. But when July opens, many more players are suddenly available and everyone goes for their glamorous targets. Better chance of getting a good deal for a player when there is lots of supply in the market when everyone is doing their own thing than in a closed market under the highest level of scrutiny.

Wouldn't be surprised if we sign all our British players AFTER 1st July. Please post in rumours, never made it into that one yet kind Eds

Coming round to the idea of Downing now. Don't need to beat players if you can cross in front of full back. Accuracy and composure he has.

{Ed002's Note -Chipkin9 You need to get your "Kenny and Damien Out" flag ready for the new season.}

Actually Ed002, No I don't

I am fully supportive of both and my club. Regardless of who we sign or are linked to

My opinion was of Sissoko and NOT of KK and DC.

Please don't insult my support...because you disagree with my opinion of a player.

Unless of course you say that because you know he's coming and i'd be unimpressed?

I deserve an apology...or your info on if sissoko is bound for us

At least have the decency to post.

Chipkin9 {Ed001's Note - you deserve an apology? What for? Because you have no sense of humour perhaps? If you are that sensitive that you are offended, then I suggest you are in the wrong place, you are obviously far too sensitive a soul for a banter site. And if it hasn't offended you why are you asking for an apology?}

We should sign [INSET WHOLLY UNREALISTIC TARGET HERE], we should sign [INSET EQUALLY UNREALISTIC TARGET].

Jesus guys, we are restricted, no European footy, a poor league position last year. I know we have the King but still - we can't just pick any player we like and expect him to want to come.

'Whats that DC? You finished 6th but you promise it will be better next year? OK, I'll come and sign'. Sorry, but it doesn't work like that. Think realistic

26 Jun 2011 18:58:17
does any of the eds no if this sissoko were linked with is any good? iv checked him out on u tube but wasnt verry impressed.thanks {Ed002's Note - Sissoko is a good player.}

**********

He's terrible.....He's been dubbed the new Paddy Viera. But he's miles off Vieras standards.

He's actually more like his namesake that we had here at Anield (Momo); but worse. And we all know how good he was.

Both too slow, lack any technical ability and are careless passers (and possibly characters). He simply doesn't offer us anything we don't alredy have. OR need.

LFC to sign Eljero Elia. As sure as I am someone will ask for my source. 12.5mil for a left wing? Better than 20mil for Lennon

hi ed... i think that all the players that gonna come to us are very average players...not for the top 4...downing is not good for us u can see it in the national team he never had a good game over there..we need to put all the money on the defender left and right back and center one and next year to get done the front..it better than to get now 5 average unuseless...what do u think..and by the way i think we should sell lukas as well he is not a creative player and he lack of pace he gives is all but sory it not for liverpool.

You've got to try again later I want to hear it.

Would the same apply to Irish Kev's post of last night that didn't get through? {Ed002's Note - Sadly not. That remains forever only known to myself, Irish Kev, the Liverpool back four, the Uzbekistani Ladies Beach Volleyball team and a miniature poodle called Bernard.}
----------------------------

The sad / funny thing is guys - i have another story that would also never get let through - one of the single most funniest things i have ever heard about someone we all know & love to hate
If anyone needs a clue i can say just one word but not sure if you guys would know what i mean.
I will pass that word on in my next post if the Ed is ok with it (it has a double meaning so not vulgar).
I better say no more for now or i'll be banned lol
I don't think you (Ed002) would know the person involved, but Ed001 definitely would
If true, then it is a priceless story & i have no reason to disbelieve it
Cheers,
Irish Kev.

Alrite eds wots the situation with eden hazard r we interested in him and is he interested in us, watched a couple of clips on youtube and the kid looks very talented, great site, cheers {Ed002's Note - Nothing has changed. Hazard signed a new contract with Lille and if he cannot get a move that suits him (Barcelona and Real Madrid were his preference) then he could stay and play in the Champions League next year. Juventus are very keen but cannot offer football at the highest level right now. Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Liverpool, Juventus, Real Madrid, Spurs and Barcelona have shown interest or admiration for the player. I would not be surprised to see Manchester United throw their hat in to the ring as well. If he does move and I was pushed for an answer, I think he could end up in Italy, possibly at Inter or in Spain at Barcelona. The recent Liverpool bid rumours seem to be little more than the recycling of the story of Damian Comolli asking to be kept informed of any movements for the player and this is several weeks old.}

Eden hazard today stated he is staying at lille ( according to ssn ) maybe if we get champions league next season if hes still there we could have a chance.

Just heard that a rumour that Liverpool have queried the fee for Fabregas even though it is expected they will not sell to another PL team. Arsenal have not even answered yet although it is the weekend. The ace up our sleeve is that Wenger is apparently a BIG admirer of Meireles and believes he has the deft touch and style he wants in his team. Also, it is expected Fabregas would not like the move with Barcelona being his preferred destination but a bit part may be all he gets there. I also fear Wenger would turn Meireles into a world beater.

Exciting thought but the longest of long shots.

Aaron lennon to liverpool
Joe cole going the other way and liverpool getting further £12 mill

D690"

So Tottenham sign Cole for £12mill and Lennon? Im happy with that deal anyone else?

I think Lennon is a good player, speedy and can put in a good cross but he has said not nice things about LFC in the past so would he be popular. I think Henderson was brought to play RW, he did play there alot for SFC so don't say he's a CM that might be his preferred position. I personally think we will sign Adam (Not Adams, Im an Adams and LFC haven't contacted me about signing for them. I would jump at the chance though), Downing, a striker (Im starting to think this won't be Wickham, but a player from France) and a LB not sure who though. Anyway well done eds keep up the good work. You must be tearing your hair out with people asking you to rate signings, better get that crystal ball shiny. Please post thanks.

26 Jun 2011 18:18:19
Great to see some serious interest in Moussa Sissoko i think he would be a great player for Liverpool, also there seems to have been some sort of break through in the Charlie Adam deal. People are complaining saying he's not good enough but look at some of the midfield player currently at the club Cole, Poulsen and Aquilani personally i think he's better than any of them. With the players being linked with us i think the squad will improve dramatically next season, and will be capable of a good run in the cups.

always a red

Ryad Boudebouz has poured cold water on reports linking with a move to LFC insisting that he is happy at Sochaux.

The Algerian winger has attracted interest from a host of top European sides this summer after an impressive debut in Ligue 1.

Boudebouz was seen as a potential alternative to Sylvain Marveaux who opted to join Newcastle from Rennes last week.

I would want to stay here for a further year. said Boudebouz.

It is for the president to decide. It is true when I say that I m with Sochaux 100% but we know that things happen fast in football so all I m going to say for now is that I m not looking to leave.
from LFCIsMyReligion

yes he did. but then later that day said that he wasn't so sure that he will be stay at Sochaux after all. {Ed002's Note - So you want a player who is indecisive?}

Liverpool should be playing hardball with any club, who's player has 1 yr remaining on there contract.would Blackpool pay 6 million + wages for Adam to play for them in the championship for one season.If they don't except our bid , then that is exactly what they would be doing.6 million is a fair offer for anyone with one yr to run.If Charlie says he will only sign for us, or he will run his contract down. Imo Oyston would sell.

Ed what's the chances of us gettin aly ciccokho or dejan lovren? And is lovren a good centre half? Thanks {Ed009's Note - Aly Cissokho would be the ideal solution for our left back problems in my opinion, and he would definitely be willing to sign for us. The only problem there is Lyon's aggressive policy of raising their players' prices for English clubs. He would cost in the region of 20 million, but I feel he would be worth it. Lovren is likely a decent centre back, who would be available for cheap, but you have to question why Lyon would let a player go for just a fraction of the price they paid, one year later.}

i'd put in a bid of 25m for both. that would be our back line sorted for years and years and years to come.

liverpool would be better off looking into the spain under 21 side for new players as in 4 years time in the next world cup half of them will be in the new winning world cup team .

26 Jun 2011 17:40:52
@Martin

Your post is utter poppycock, cousin. Equating going for Sanchez with going for Messi is simply idiotic. Sanchez IS available and very much within our range for starters.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that the minimum criteria when you want to buy a player- that he must be a) available and b) affordable?
Doesn't Sanchez meet those criteria?

You harp on about Turin's weather and Juve's wage offering.
You go on to claim Sanchez "wouldn't come. Well tell me, cousin, was it Sanchez himself who told you that weather and wages would be the deciding factors on where he'll ply his trade next?
Did Sanchez tell Comolli that he doesn't wanna hear from him or Liverpool?

It seems to me that you consider the player to be too good for the club you support. That you don't believe in this club's ability to convince players that it's the place to be.

You and many others alike are no realists, let alone the optimists you claim you ("naturally") are. a) Until a player has made it abundantly clear with determination that he's not interested in LFC (a la Subotic, Hazard), that player remains a very realistic proposition, to the extent that he's b) available and c) affordable.

To my knowlegde, Sanchez hasn't done a, because there's been no contact from us with him.
We basically don't know whether he'd have wanted to come.
So to say even if we tried for him, which we didn't, he "wouldn't come", is a s**tload of unfounded crap.

Further evidence of the fact that you know nothing and are talking nonsense sees you listing Martinez as a player you deem "realistic". How the hell is Martinez a "realistic" target if he's not even for sale?

Look, lad, it might hurt to hear it, but Dalglish and Comolli f***ed up big time by overlooking Sanchez.
It was major indictment on their part to not even (try) get him to listen.

He WAS as realistic as they come.
If you wanna sit there, drowning in your inferiority complex and defeatism, be my guest cousin. But try not to use "realism" to justify it.

If Liverpool wants to compete, progress and be where we believe we should be, we gotta start seeking a slice from the big pie. Simple.
Otherwise we'll continue to lag behind.

And then the are defeatist fans like Martin. These fellas plead "realism" in an attempt to support their stances when in actually truth they're merely using the walls of "realism" to conceal their insecurities and fear of rejection.
Smh.

Cheers from Croatia, just got back home, been in Novalja on island Pag (Croatia). Why i'm telling you this, well, Novalja in Croatia is like Ibiza in Spain, there's a famous beach called Zrce (Zrche) with bars and clubs, everything needed for party time.

------

Loved the post, full of energy - and if the Lovren thing happens I would be quite happy.
But the best part of the post was the translation from "Zrce" to "Zrche". It made it so much easier :-).
Am actually going to Dubrovnik in a few weeks time for the Julian Rachlin Chamber Music Festival - not exactly a Zrche party, but still looking forward to it.

Why i'm telling you this, well, Novalja in Croatia is like Ibiza in Spain, there's a famous beach called Zrce (Zrche) with bars and clubs, everything needed for party time. This weekend was a season opening and Dejan Lovren (Lyon) came together with another player from Lyon (couldn't recognize which one) and Vedran Corluka of Spurs. My mate yelled in Lovren's direction "whats's with the Liverpool move Dejan?" , Lovren just smiled and said nothing. Ok, maybe he didn't hear us, maybe it meant nothing, but to me it looked intriguing cos he looked at us while he smiled. What to make of this, i don't know, just wanted to share it with you.

I think he probably doesn't understand English and He asked Corluka "What are they saying?" to which Corluka replied "They are asking if you would like to come and live with them as they are in love with you" hence the stare and smile :)

eds can we see liverpool bid for Roque Santa Cruz , guess he still has some class left or Franco Di Santo he
can be a cheaper backup striker . {Ed002's Note - But why. Players like Park Chu-Young and Benjamin Moukandjo are available. It just seems like you want Liverpool to throw money away.}
--------------------------------------------------
if i am not wrong franco di santo is cheaper buy than park chu young and also younger
also liverpool are in the mind set to throw money ... cant see any top team buy crap like caroll and henderson ....
dont get me wrong but seriously ...... u expect us to win matches with a striker who waits in the box hoping the winger will feed him with passes and a guy who has barely two first team years under his belly .... oh please
>>>RAMSES

{Ed002's Note - Since moving to England in 2008 Di Santo has managed two goals in 60 plus games. Look at Ngog's return compared to that and then explain why Liverpool should buy Di Santo again to me - because somehow I have missed the point.}

Hi I'm a Liverpool fan from Indonesia
Steve McMahon now is in Indonesia promoting a softdrink brand and on a meet & greet session with Indonesia's official LFC supporters he was asked about the player likely to join LFC this summer.
McMahon said that he had spoken to Kenny 2 weeks ago and Kenny said there will be 4 signings this summer but McMahon refuse to unfold Kenny's target

Its funny that Dunk from KopTalk slags everyone for believing stupid rumours like "The N'Zogbia twitter announcement"... Then he takes down updates like "Mata's agent meetings confirmed", "Aguero Update", "Ashley Young Close" from his KopTalk site haha.
What a muppet, the chap hasn't a clue, he just reads whats in the papers and puts it into his own words and people believe him. I personally love the way Kenny Dalglish has kept everything under wraps at the club, its not easy to do that, even when you ask a couple of players they wont tell you anything. I've noticed since Kenny done this poor Harry Redknapp can't copy off our transfer policy... Unlucky Harry :D

Hi just wondering what people think of Giovanni Dos Santos of Tottenham? He did well in the last world cup with Mexico against the top teams and is in their first 11, and he has just scored an exceptional solo goal against USA in the gold cup final (

news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13919985.stm

He is surplus to requirements at Spurs and went on loan to a club in Spain last year (Malaga?) , he's young so it fits in with the clubs policy, and i think he counts as home grown (someone confirm?).

Could play on either wing but I understand that he isnt as proven in the prem as some other players but he looks fast and has a few tricks up his sleeve. Doubt we are going to put in a bid though, but i would like to see him at the club.

In response to other rumours, i think Charlie Adam will eventually sign, and i think 20mil for downing is a bit steep but we need a winger and he will stick to the touchline for us. not sure what to think with Mata, one day it seems like we have a good chance, and then other times we look out of the running.

would love him to sign for us though we're just going to have to be patient untill the international window is in full flow :)
Well done Eds for maintaining the site, really enjoy it

Just 2 quick questions for you all including the eds.

If you have / had a 2nd favourite team, who would it be?
I used to love watching Newcastle in the 90's because they were so attack minded with Keegan, but these days i don't have a fixed 2nd team.
I kept an eye out for Blackpool's results last season but that's about it.

And question 2 is, other than the obvious enemy teams like The Bitters & The Mancs - what teams do you love to hate?
Mine are Spurs for family reasons, it used to be Boro because we always struggled up there.

Cheers in advance hopefully lol,
Irish Kev.

Not a rumour but more of an observation.

I hear about all of these deals that include swapping players sometimes 2 for 1 etc.

This is starting to craze me as I can't really remeber any swap deals of a big nature happening.

The last one of this kind of nature was when Andy Cole got transferred to the Mancs and Keith Gillespie went the other way as a makeweight.

Most transfers involve cash and bonuses for performance etc. Players do move on loan as a good will gesture but it is very difficult to jus swap players.

Can you remember many swaps happening in the EPL?

26 Jun 2011 16:10:15
{Ed002's Note - Lyon do that because they can. They know that English clubs will pay over the odds for a player and they price the players accordingly. It is true of most French clubs be Lyon have always made it clear that every player for sale has two prices: one for his sale, and one for his sale to an English club. Cissokho will probably not be leaving Lyon this summer unless a high fee is paid by the likes of Manchester City. Liverpool and Arsenal will likely be put off by a 25Meuro plus asking price.}

If KK & DC believe he's the right man for our left back spot, then I don't think we would be put off. Maybe that's the problem - we don't quite know who is the right man.

Stone YNWA.

The U21 is over so what we'll have now is DC on a flight to Spain to have lunch with Juan Mata sn; he'll buy him a coffee and say we want to offer 15M for your son to play for us and he'll choke on his drink nd explain the city and unt have offered 20M but he'd like to play for LFC. DC will then pretend to play hardball and fly home and wait for 2 weeks while other clubs negotiate and and then go back with an offer of 19M to which JM will say no we wont take less than 20M; DC will fly home again and then on the last day of the window will say OK 20M when every other team will have been training together for weeks. I don, tthink we should be held for ranson over fees but afte hearing what Holloway said about DC's negotiation skills I don't have any faith in him. Any one of us on this site could do his job Sorry to sound negative but I don't rate him but thank god we have the king.

I'd love to know why juan matas father and not Valencia is setting prices for their players, doesn't make sense just like your post'

I wish some people would just have some common sense and realism about their thoughts. When the transfer window is over then have a real thought of our dealings , and when the season is over then judge our dealings till then just support the management and team.

Ed002

I always hear you talking about lyon putting a massice mark-up on the prices of their player for english clubs and I know it in their rights to do it, but I was just wondering why? Do they just not like the english clubs, or would they do it to any forgein league team. Strange as it works differently here as far as I can see prices go up for teams in the same league but usually a bit cheaper for forgein teams.

Cheers
JJ

PS I'm not sure where to put his so I'll let you decide :) {Ed002's Note - {Ed002's Note - Lyon do that because they know English clubs will pay a premium for players they want. French clubs cannot compete with wages paid in other countries and are very aware that they find the league picked clean of teh best prospects. Many French clubs take this approach, but as I said earlier, but Jean-Michel Aulas has often said that every player for sale has two prices: one for his sale, and one for his sale to an English club. It is hard to blame the clubs for this approach.}

I just don't get wh the majority on here are not excited by the potentail signing of Downing. The lad is capable of consistently supllying quality crossess something we haven't had from the wings for a looooooooooong time. Can't u see that KK wants him to supply Carrol with the quality Downing will supply Carrol will be in wonderland banging headers in for fun. Open your eyes and see the bigger picture Its not about a single player its about a squad, and yes 20 m is way too expensive, Villa probably payed the right amount which was abnout 12 m I think. But the market is massively inflated at the minute and in reality think He'll come for somewhere closer to 15 with add ons, but all you guys shouting about foriegn players how many of you have seen these guys play? It seems to me that all the "I watch a lot of german/spanish/french" football guys are full of bs and in fact just recycle others opinions. There is a reason English players are too inflated and thts because at least they are proven in the epl. Think about some of the massive stars who have come from ther leagues. Moreientes was arguably the best striker in europe when he joined and looked terrible, shevchenko, etc. Yes many have been succesful, but the physicality of the epl, means that for me unless your ceratin a foreign player can cope with that then stick to proven english players. To people who think Aqualani shouldn't play for the club again because if doesn't want to. i dont think its Liverpool per se.Imo i think when he went back on loan to Juve, it was a case of you dont know what you've got till its gone.Thats why i think he'd play for most top/decent Italian clubs if he had chance. I just dont think he wants to come back to England never mind Liverpool full stop. If he does come back for however long it is i wouldn't rip on the guy to much. While he is here and he's fit to play or is selected i think we should support him, try and make him feel wanted. If he goes during window, good luck to him, it never worked out. And just to add my tupence worth in over Gerrard and Schole's.Schole's cant run cant tackle cant head but can play one two's and can bang a goal in when Utd are 3 nil up. Not a big game player like Gerrard who has a touch of genius that can change a match in an instant(Champions league, Fa cup could go on).If you swapped the players over.Say Schole's had played for us and Gerrard for Scum, Utd prob would have won every Prem and 8 champions leagues, we wouldn't have won much if owt at all if we'd have had Schole's instead of Gerrard, full stop. Anyone know what bale said about Liverpool?

26 Jun 2011 15:27:04
Few things for my fellow Reds:
1. Why are we fighting among ourself we all all love our club equally just because some people do not agree with view it does not mean we should mock at them and call them names.
2. Two those who have blind faith I ask you a question does 35M on Carroll, 16M on hendo possible 8m on Adam and possible 16M on downing plus lets assume add another center back and left back and the fact that we are struggling to offload our high earners makes you think rationally we may get to limit on our wages and transfer budget and these buys will get us Europa but champions league will be a fight most of us know this will not be good enough as all our rivals are ahead of us and they will add more quality.
I mean it does not scare me if I am a opponent I hope you all get my point so allow the criticism.
3. To those who are arguing and are going overboard with reaction lets give our management till 31st August then only we can judge them so be constructive with criticism there is still time.

I hope I made my point. Look we all love LFC till last breath thats important and as I say LFC is bigger then even Kenny. I just hope and pray that he is doing all good because thats the only thing we can do.

Ed what's the chances of us gettin aly ciccokho or dejan lovren? And is lovren a good centre half? Thanks {Ed009's Note - Aly Cissokho would be the ideal solution for our left back problems in my opinion, and he would definitely be willing to sign for us. The only problem there is Lyon's aggressive policy of raising their players' prices for English clubs. He would cost in the region of 20 million, but I feel he would be worth it. Lovren is likely a decent centre back, who would be available for cheap, but you have to question why Lyon would let a player go for just a fraction of the price they paid, one year later.}
----------------------------------------
Ed we paid 18m for Johnson a couple of years back and although pompey still owed us money from the sale of crouch Cissokho looks a better player than Johnson and would be well worth the money

this is rediculous complaining about getting average players like downing and adam. most fans would probably say ashley young than downing yet downing got the player of the season.and adam was nominated for pfa player of the year.
i understand what your saying but give them a chance

26 Jun 2011 15:18:28
to those who dont want downing. downing has the most accurate crossing in the premier league so just imagine carrol or even wickham geting on the end of that. also is u are gutted about us not signing young he would not fit in as he comes inside to much where as downing will run down the wing and put a good delivery in and hopefully carrol will be getting on the end of them so i would be happy if he came YNWA

The winger Alexis Sanchez's move to Manchester City or Barcelona (more likely the former) will finally eventuated in the next few days for a fee likely to be £35m-£38m.

Sanchez is arguably the most exciting young winger in the world right now and has bags of potential to be as good as- dare I say- ex Manc winker Ronaldo.

Other top clubs such as Inter, Barca, Chelsea, United and Juve have been credited with interest in the player.
And Sanchez himself has more or less been open to a move to any of those clubs.

Yet, to my utter shock and chagrin, our own Liverpool hasn't shown one iota interest in this player.
It's well known that this team's in desperate need of wingers and flair.
We say that we want to "challenge" and "restore former glories", but surprisingly choose to pass up an opportunity which would have helped our efforts to that course.

Dalglish and Comolli say they want players who'll be better than what we have. Henry says he'll pay for the right player. Sanchez is the right player in every way imaginable.
Henry would have had no qualms paying.
But Dalglish and Comolli, in their infinite, decide that this player "isn't" an option for us. Unbelievable!

And please, don't give me the drivel about Sanchez being a "Manc fan" or "concerns" about his physicality. That's just bull.
This lad, whilst short, is a sturdy toughie, and the fact that he was open to Juve who if not worse than us, are in a similar situation as us: huge troubles recently and no CL for next season.

There's nothing to substantiate any claim that had we declared an interest in Sanchez he'd not have listened to us.
The ball was in our court, as it is in City's, Barca's, United's and possibly Inter's right now.

A terrific player we could or could not have got, yet we were not in any way involved. Smh.
And then we go on to make laboured efforts to sign relatively average players like Downing and Charlie Adam (£20m+ combined). Unbelievable!

Are these the players that will win us EPL titles and beat the Barcelonas and Inters once we are back in Europe?
I know Kenny's manager here, but, cousins, he isn't beyond reproach and scrutiny.

Downing and Adam are first and foremost bad compared to their alternatives, and they're even worse when you look at the fees they'll command. There're far better options.
Matuidi, Gago, Sissoko, Payet, Turan, are by FAR superior players would come relatively cheap.

"But they're not Prem-proven" I hear you say. Bulls**t! Suarez, Silva, Hernandez and many others were not "Prem-proven" but look at what they've done.
Their little, on-going success blows such claims outta the water.

Fair enough, Kenny's the manager, but it's not like he hasn't made crap buys.
I'm not saying Downing and Adam will be s**t, just that we could do a lot better.
I'm sure many would rather Turan than Downing and Sissoko over Adam.
Bad business.

If you wanna compete with the best and be the best, you gotta look at the best players available and viable. I see no reason why we shouldn't be going for the likes of Modric, Nasri, Sanchez.

They're all fantastic players who'd improve the team and we can afford. Whether we get them or not is an entirely different matter. But the important thing is that we try, as we're currently doing with Mata.

Rather players reject us than us rule ourselves out. That's an inferiority complex and defeatism we DON'T need.
Just look at Juve. They've had huge difficulties of late, but could in the next few weeks be signing Kun Aguero. Ambition.

I know that there's still a long way to go before the window closes, but bar Henderson, the imminent signings of Downing and Adam have done little to inspire me.

You can call me a moaner/whinger, whatever makes you happy, but our distict absence in the Sanchez proceedings has left me questioning the ways of our DoF.

Unlike Aguero that everyone's clamouring, this kid Sanchez was what you could call a genuinely perfect fit in any and every way possible, talent & attitude, age, commercial potential, sell-on etc. He was the man.

Yet, yet, he was overlooked... a gross sin. There are no grounds of justification on Dalglish&Comolli's part for choosing to exclude themselves in the chase for a arguably the best young talent atm when we may, just may, have had a chance of getting him.

Me personally, am not gonna sit here and spout the "in Kenny I trust" mantra. Kenny, along with Damien, WILL have to EARN that trust.
And so far, their job hasn't been so much excellent as not too impressive.
But I get I'll just have to hold fire till, erm... the turn of next year perhaps?

The jury will be out till then, but Downing and Adam is certainly no cause for optimism.

To everyone who doubts what LFC will achieve next year. KK has completely turned around this football club within the space of 6 months. We finished 2nd overall based on points in the second half of the season (Kenny's Reign). We have to go out next season and emulate this form and take our club to the next level.

As a liverpool loyal fan, i want the club to get rid of players who are not up to standard to play for LFC, these are players J.cole, N'Gog, Rodrigues etc.

We want quality players in the squad, the reason why we are struggling is becouse in the past we have sold our quality players like Alonso, Mascherano, Babel, Benayoun and Torres without replacing them with the appropriate one, we sold out Benayoun and than bring in J.cole who seems reach a peak, he don't even deserve to be given a number 10 jersey. So please its time to sign young and talented players to help us to finish in the top4 this cuming season. Thanks alot. yours Golden

For the fools saying gerrard is better player than scholes.
Don't get me wrong gerrards a fantastic player but Paul scholes just takes your breath away with his imagination and execution. Gerrard is more pace and power. Plus scholes has the better goal scoring record for their clubs. Add to that that gerrard takes penalties so his goal record should be better. Paul scholes scores goals

just imagen the likes of 1 of these players in each position
forwards either: adebayor, podolski or park chu-young
left wing either: downing, mata or keep maxi
right wing either: lennon or honda
and charlie adam

our squad attacking force will be amazing

26 Jun 2011 13:55:50
Yeah that's an extremely good point. As desperate as LFC fans are to find out who we're going to sign, I like the fact all 'Eds' never give 100% confirmation on anything, because i'd rather always see an element of doubt, than a "100% confirmed signing that hasnt actually been confirmed" for it not too go through. Anyway, on with the final question. At this moment in time, which Left Back do you feel Liverpool have the best chance of signing? Even if you think there is a minimal chance on all of them.
Thanks eds,
Hooch.

Morning all,
Re the Aquilani situation.
I think that he'll only get picked up late in to the transfer window by another Italian club.
For rock bottom money as well.
They'll wait and wait. Then get him for £5 - 8 million.

the whole KK being on holiday thing is winding me up, no buiness will be done by liverpool apparently because kk is on holiday, so who is doing the adam deal because every report states liverpool will do the adam deal this weekend but now reports are saying nothing will be done because kenny is hioliday, and commoli is paid to do what? Wish kk a happy holiday, strange system if you ask me, though i am more ranting about pathetic media coverage as usual over liverpool deals, hardly a word about the adam deal on ssn, but gardner to sunderland has been talked about all weekend,

26 Jun 2011 13:37:29
well after this weekends papers and seeing who weve been linked to i aint expecting liverpool to win anything next season ADAM, DOWNING, LENNON what aload of crap
12MIL ASKING FOR ADAM
20MIL ASKING FOR DOWNING
20MIL ASKING FOR LENNON
Id tell them kiss my apse for them prices for average in consistent players we dont want them but again we wasnt linked to henderson and it might be aload of sh#t to sell papers.

I don't understand why you Liverpool fans keep saying Aquilani is a flop ? I get he was injured 1st part of the season but the 2nd part he was one of the best players for you scoring crucial goals in Europe and playing good even when he wasn't fully fit I reckon Dalgleish need's to give him a chance he's better than Adam and Meireles and Lucas. If he plays in LFC friendly's and impresses wouldn't be surprised if he stay's and plays a crucial role.

Hey Ed I'd just like to know your opinion on the likes of Henderson as a player and Adams do u think there good enough for Liverpool fc {Ed002's Note - Henderson looks a good player. And for a less ambitious side, so does Adam.}

26 Jun 2011 13:27:11
Hey there ed just reading the usual goss and am really hoping that KK and DC see some sense which i'm sure they will with the downing saga. Downing is good but not worth 20 mil in my opinion that money would be far better used for someone like mata who would be absoute magic! Adam for 8 mil, mata 20 wickham 8 mil and thats a good shot of champions league! love the site please post and would love to hear your opinion

What player would you think would linke good together with Suarez for ripping the defence apart?
i think with the clever passes of Gerrard (proven when working with Torres), and Henderson (first part of 10/11), i would REALLY like a clever player like Mata to join, in U21 he had some amazing passes, can put a few players off and good moves! he even can score from distance.

I am a better manager than Liverpool legend Bill Shankly - former England boss Kevin Keegan

When i saw the headline my laptop was about to be
thrown out of the window, but i read the article,
Keegan was saying his ratio win was about 0.5% better
than Shanks, what he didn't say was of course was that
Shankly was a manager a lot longer than Keegan, and
built his teams on solid foundations and not sand,
I dont doubt Keegans affection for Shanks but maybe if he put his managerial career up against Steve Mcclarens, it might have made sense

Im not rich, we just like looking at all the rich people and there cars. anyway, i have no idea why he was there, as i thought he would of been up north with all the charlie adam and downing speculation, but 2 black bmw's drove past, and in the second one, behind the driver in the back seat was damien commolli.

As i said, no idea why he was in london, but I saw him. I was pretty excited! haha.

Hi Ed

Thanks for commenting on Marvin Martin. Even though henhas performed well last season its prob hard to judge him until henwould perform similar next season. I think one to watch though.

We have been linked to alot of French players but I can't remember a fairly decent French based player that we have ever bought. Some thoughts? I'm liking Hazard who is Belgian but could he make it in Premiership. I agree with your synopsis but I believe that we should peruse Mata or Hazard for wide positions. Non fault but I don't think Stewart Dowing is good enough. As for Charlie Adam. I think a decent player in a poor team last year. Squad player at most. Thoughts? {Ed009's Note - I think Hazard won't be joining Liverpool, this year at least. In my opinion both Downing and Adam would be good signings, as they both add something to the team we didn't previously have. Mata would be a dream signing.}

Liverpool are NOT interested in Aaron headless chicken lennon (thank god).Bad paper talk going on here downing remains number one target for winger. Also cant believe people going on about aquilani a guy who doesnt want to be here has no desire to play for liverpool and simply isnt good enough.Half the time the posters on here are on about potential signings saying he would die for the shirt ie. dann so dont be hypocrites.

ed i know you have said we are in discussions with blackpool but does that mean that we've agreed a fee? and if so can it be done by the end of the weekend? {Ed009's Note - I'm not sure whether a fee has been agreed at this time. We have agreed terms with Adam of 30,000 a week, under half of what Meireles is on, and I think we will sign Adam at some point.}

26 Jun 2011 12:07:35
Lets be honest, if Adam wants to come to Liverpool then he will.Its all about the contract that is offered.If Villa want him and pay the wages then he will go there.Same with most players, they can engineer moves through their agents.Blackpool cannot afford to hang on to Adam.I dont think Lfc will pay anymore than 8 mill for him.

Ed what chance would you give us of signing bale? I know it is unlikely but comolli signed him at spurs and he is the exact profile we are looking for, young british and also very quick. I could imagine us going all out for him like we did for carroll and i think bale would actually come. Wonder what your thoughts are? {Ed009's Note - The most minute chance possible. Tottenham will be loathe to sell him to us and he would cost in excess of 30 million, likely up to 40, a price his 2 outstanding games last season doesn't warrant. He also previously slagged off the city.}
=========================================

Didn't Bale slate LFC and the city?! I want someone who who will play for the club and give his all. Payet would be a cheaper and better option.

Ed's in Banter. What do you rate this as a balanced midfield for the future and what are our chances of signing (I know the mata one already)?

Y M'Vila
Javi Martinex
Juan Mata
Adam Johnson (RW)

Dm, AM & 2 wingers. The biggest problem I see is on the right hand side. We're linked with loads of left wingers but I only see Henderson being mentioned for the right, unless that is where Downing is planned for. Is there a chance we're going to shift Glen Johnson up to RW and play him and Kelly as the right hand options?

FatJanMolby {Ed009's Note - 2, 1, 4, 3. They are all fantastic players admittedly.}

You all seem to think because lfc keep their mouth shut on transfers that everyone else will. Yes there are no leakages at lfc but I can guarantee you now, should be start negotiating with milan, udinese fiorentina or madrid I will know about it.

So while agree that lfc are conducting behind closed doors, others do not so information is still available.

Red Gaz, where in my post does it ever mentioning signing Lennon in my post, never mind all three players. Take a bit more time to read it proper (no offence if ya cant) and it was more of an anti Lennon, not to sign him. And Liverpool will still go after Mata re of the winger we more then likely to sign from the Prem, probably and hopefully Downing because he can cross a ball lad .Think Lennon must have just got you another assist on Fifa just before you read my post eh lad. Ed, do you think players/staff at the club/scouts read sites like these for opinions from fans, or maybe even ideas. I know it does sound a little far fetched but what do you think? {Ed009's Note - I'm not sure - I know I would if I was a player - but I basically hope not; imagine what they'd think if they read all the keyboard warriors slamming them every few minutes!}

Please tell me the rumours about Lennon aren't true. He would only move to LFC is he was forced to and would be playing for a club he has criticised in the past. Mata would be my 1st choice as a winger, even Downing is better than Lennon. {Ed009's Note - we are very unlikely to sign Lennon, and I too would be very disappointed if we did.}

what about the spanish under 21 guy from final last night... i was watching him and he was incredible not sure of his name but he was really good especially the cross for 1st goal i think he'd be a superb signing

His name is Didac Vila and for an 18 year old left back he looked superb, as far as im aware keeping the very highly rated Angel out of the team. Problem is he joined AC Milan in the january transfer window and AC only now seem interested in loaning him back to former club Espanyol. But he really did show star quality, Didac, Mata and Javi Martinez ran the show in my opinion.

ed/s im not trying to offend you, but there is rumour about getting aaron lennon from tottenham go on the website, it could be one of those stupid things that one person saids though. and adam and downing will sign. {Ed009's Note - not entirely sure what your question is, but I very much doubt Lennon will be moving to Liverpool.}

26 Jun 2011 11:16:07
If we are gonna have to pay 18 m for downing and (if the mirror is right) 20m for lennon I would sooner buy foreign players as it represents less financial risk. Those are ridiculous prices to pay for players who have never succeeded at the highest level of football. Yeah we might have to pay 20m for mata but he performs under pressure and can handle the spotlight. So far any time downing NEEDS to perform ie england he has been poor. He is good at villa because its low expectation low pressure environment.

I think mata would be the better option especially since the prices are going to be the same roughly. Mata is also 4 years younger so he has time to improve and adapt. Downing is 27 this is the peak of his career right now and will not get better than he is right now.

Mr E

I thought he played well in his England game. Downing and Mata would be 2 great signings IMO.

" Mata & Downing! "

I don't see Downing as the sort of player who can be effective in a more central role. Would prefer Nzogbia personally and I am still hoping Downing is a smoke screen.Very over priced in my opinion. {Ed009's Note - he would certainly be wasted in a central role - Mata though wouldn't, and can work very, very well on the right as well.}

Why do we need Charlie adam. yes he brings assits and quality on the ball. but think about some of the youngsters like shelvey or spearing. at winger bring youngsters like amoo and sterling through. sell aquilani and cole and keep meireles. DONT SIGN CHARLIE ADAM WE DONT NEED HIM {Ed009's Note - you contradict yourself incredibly here: "yes he brings assists and quality on the ball." To me that sounds like it can be nothing but a positive.}

26 Jun 2011 10:53:51
Eds I am worried that the signings we make could be detrimental to our long term plans. The players we are linked with and have bought so far are hopefully good enough to get us back into the champions league but no further than that.

Therefore we will have to sell them on when we push hard for the title as they won't be able to get us there. It is a similar case to Man City when they bought Bellamy, wright-phillips etc. They at least have the bonus of a open ended supply of cash, we do not.

I think KK and DC need to look further afield than Lennon, Downing etc. Your thoughts please? {Ed009's Note - I understand your point with regards to the players we're linked with not being of sufficient quality for us to win the title and more. At the same time though think for example about how you'd feel if we signed Mata and perhaps Diego - the top level of player we're linked with. Surely they are good enough regardless? The main thing to remember is that in the future, the players we buy this season could become our squad players, and our current squad players could be offloaded, to be replaced by genuine quality.}

26 Jun 2011 10:51:13
Hey Eds was just wondering that if we sign do Downing, would you expect another winger to come in as well ? Also, if man city do place a bid for sanchez does that mean adam johnson would become more of a realistic target?

cheers gr8 site keep it up {Ed009's Note - I would expect two wingers to be bought, yes. The only reason one wouldn't is if Kenny sees Henderson as our first choice right midfielder. If Man City buy new wingers than Johnson could become more of a possibility, but I doubt he will be bought if Downing is - they are relatively similar players.}

Just woke us expecting maybe a bit of good news on the transfer front, and then i see Lennon's name is the new trend of today. If anybody thinks Lennon is a more well rounded and better player then Downing just because he can run faster is seriously mistaken. There seems to be a myth going round that Downing cant run, has no pace.Wrong ! He hasn't got Walcot or Lennon type pace but to say he's slow is just bashing the guy.He's quick enough, as he proved against us, he can finish as he proved against us and he's also got a much better footballing brain then Lennon, who runs so fast he doesn't have time to get his head up and get a quality cross in. Lennon's end product is s**te compared with Downing's as well.Now Mr Marmite, i mean Downing might be overpriced by 3 or 4 mil at the min but hope something can be sorted soon. Might not be everyones cup of tea but i belive he gets a bloody bad rap because of the s**te that was played at Boro under McClaren, and it seems to have followed him around, by people who know didly squat about football, who think because Lennon's better on FM games and Fifa games because he's quicker, are nuts. I think if you asked Carroll who he'd prefer who's supplying his ammo it would be Downing, not Lennon. Lastly as enough of the eds have said, and fellow fans, signing Downing wouldn't negate us going afte Mata. Now get with the programme and stop playing you 360's those who think a sulky Lennon would be a better signing then Stu Downing. Jonson6

26 Jun 2011 10:39:04
We'd sign Downing and Mata for less I say and they're both better options! I read a few weeks back (I could be wrong) Kenny's like to use one out and out winger and then a versatile winger who can come into the center etc! The two players who fit that are Mata & Downing!

Before I start I would like to say the father of a boy in my daughters class works for LFC and in yesterdays Summer Fete he supplied, courtesy of Liverpool FC, four match day/legend ultimate experience/corporate tickets for the raffle. The Eds can confirm my location and if required I will supply them with the surname of the gentlemen concerned.

The big transfer news is that there is no transfer news. LFC have re adopted the Liverpool Way and will conduct all dealings behind very private, very closed doors. There is NO information leaking out to employees and there is unlikely to be any insider information coming out that will hold water.

There have been rumours doing the rounds but these are mainly from agents putting their client in the shop window or from leaks within the selling club ie Sunderland, Blackpool etc.

What I can tell you though is that Liverpool will adhere very closely with all of FIFA/UEFA regulations and are now building a squad to meet the various requirements regarding finance and nationality. Blatter's and Platini's attempts to stifle English dominance in Europe will fail and LFC will once again be giants on the European stage.

Although there are no new leads in this post it should please all fans that the old school ways have returned with Kenny and that we will doing business the right way. Another point to get excited about is that the club will almost certainly move very quickly come July 1st and I fully expect there to be a glut of signings within the first week, although this is only guess work on my part as only those deep within the club know for sure.

Sorry for the non-news but we must conduct ourselves with the same ethos as the club and move forward with pride in our hearts and the knowledge that a new era has arrived and this club will rise again to the dizzy heights of days gone by.

Thank you.

I'm not sold on this arguement Ed, it's a completely new regime now with more rotation and a better passing game which would suit Aquilani. Surely if nobody will pay a good price it's at least worth giving him a chance at Liverpool.

Morning ed,
May sound like a silly question and forgive my ignorance if it is.
Why is it significant that Downing has to hand in a transfer request?
Surely Villa already knows he wants to leave.
Does it mean he loses out financially if he hands in transfer request?
And if so, if he is supposedly that desperate to join us? What is he waiting for?
AL {Ed002's Note - It is simply financial. He would be giving up his percentage of the fee by requesting a transfer.}

What are ya talking about, in truth I haven't seen a whole lot of this kid but he's getting great reviews and looks like one for the future, my guess is that you've seen one bad performance from him and are judging him on that.

Not a rumour but an observation: The intimation on here that someone like Mata will get to Anfield and continue to improve playing with the likes of Stevie, Suarez, and Carroll while a player like Adam or Downing won't is ridiculous. I doubt many people on here have watch Mata game after game for the last couple years, youre devaluing the known quantity and exalting the unknown. It's just inconsistent.

So Adam is "lazy on the ball" and will be forever? Come on guys. Mata could come here and hate it or see his game not translate to Liverpool. It cuts both ways. Past performance does NOT guarantee future return (look at Torres after he joined Chelsea) and it also does not mean a given player will retain previous habits, be they good or bad, when moving to a different team. And in the case of both Downing and Adam to a team with better players.

Charlie Adams: can't get that Brazil game out of my head .. though brazil is, after all, Brazil! Should be playing for a mid table team in my view. So you believe that a player can be judged off of one game. On the flip side, does one good game make a player a good one? I can't get our 2 games against Blackpool out of my head. Not only do I expect him to improve under KK but he will benefit from playing with Gerrard. All the weight was on his shoulders at B'pool. That won't be the case at LFC. I'm not trying to defend him but I feel he has the fundamentals & will blossom under Clarke.

26 Jun 2011 00:46:19
Some thoughts, not so much rumours:

Downing is an above average PL player ... but not liverpool material. very skilled going up and down the flank with a very good cross ... but otherwise, limited. (Perotti is fantastic btw)

Charlie Adams: can't get that Brazil game out of my head .. though brazil is, after all, Brazil! Should be playing for a mid table team in my view.

The black hole that is left back should be addressed immediately. clichy would be the best fit i can see. I think Camolli needs to look deeply into his scouting network to find someone else.

Center Back - yesss ... we need one! Carra will soon be past it and has def lost a step and Agger is not reliable. Zappata looks like a decent player but there also many in the Spanish league worth a look.

Midfield ... I hope we keep Aquallani, he's pure class and he showed it in the few games he played for us + during his stint with the Old Lady. Merielles ... now, i wonder why there is so much talk about the lad. He established himself last year and did well. Maybe it's the English/British movement that is pushing him out. If that's the case, then fair enough.

3rd Striker ...
Ngog time at Liverpool is over. Like the lad, but he's got to go, at least on Loan. Many potential replacements. I think its worth spending 8-12 mil on a backup striker if we are to be successful next season.

Pacheco should be either given a chance or sent on Loan to an EPL team, not a championship side.

Just Some thoughts ...

Henderson I'd Gerrards long term replacement

I really hope Charlie Adam has signed, those whose saying he's not good enough... he just is, he's been pinging balls around like nobody's business all season, he didn't let the january transfer saga get to him and continued at a top level, the only place he's lacking is his box to box runs (we've got stevie to cover those) and his general fitness... and let's be honest Liverpool's training is likely to be more physically demanding than that of Blackpool, also... Kenny wants him, isn't that enough (we've also never won the league without a scotsman in the team) YNWA

26 Jun 2011 00:20:15
Before anyone starts thinking of who Liverpool will be signing just remember how Kenny has the team playing. Pass and move...the Liverpool way. We wont be buying any big name possible we will be buying players who suit our style of play. Just look back at who hardly played since Kenny came back. Joe Cole, David Ngog, two of the biggest culprits for being head down merchants. If you dont play the way the King wants you to then you wont play at all

26 Jun 2011 00:19:02
