Johnson when fit and on form is excellent. If you were on the opposition left flank would you rather face Johnson or Kelly when they come running at you?

I would rather face Johnson if I was playing the left side of midfield or left wing. Defenders are first & foremost meant to defend & also he is way too expensive at £18 million for a right back with the amount of rebuilding to be done. I would rather have Kelly play right back, sell Johnson for £15 million & buy a right midfielder/ winger who could do the job that Johnson thinks he has to do at the minute thus abandoning his defensive duties making the team stronger defensively & offensively.

Skertel I don't think is commanding enough at the back & we need at least one footballer at the back who can play a bit. Too many hoofers for my liking.

So between the 2 groups we have 14 players. So we could sell The Greek, Skertel, Johnson, Konchesky, Poulsen, Babel, Maxi, Aqualaini & Insua would equal approx £60 million & not too many fans would bothered to see the back of them. Oh & Joe Cole to any other mug who will pay his wages. A big rebuiding job still to be done & I hope some of these players get sold in January. But then again if Roy thinks Carlton Cole is a good player for us just as he thought Konchesky & Poulsen were good enough then god knows who we could end up with. We are stuck between having some really poor players & a manager who not many fans trust to spend wisely.

Why do you want to sell Johnson or Skrtel? Skrtel has been a good signing for us and most of the Liverpool support are very fond of him.

but can we have the legs please, let stoke have his torso, and newcastle have his head
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Although I don't want Elmander either, I would just like the point out that just because we may, in the future, be going in for a player that the big boys aren't going in for, doesn't mean they aren't any good.

Ed there is a story on another site that we are looking at cassano and bringing back aquilani in jan, doubt very much that it wud happen, but with alberto's return to form, and a last chance saloon given to cassano just wonderd what your thoughts wud be, as they are both extremely talented and to bring in 2 players for very little.( just cassanos signing on fee) it wub be a great opportunity to spend the money on another 2 quality players instead of 3 or 4 decent players in jan to give us a springboard to push on up the table. {ed's note - Aqualani returning has already been ruled out and Cassano has been drummed out of every team he has played for.}

Let's be honest, how many senior players do we have who a really worthy of first team football? Reina, Carra ( just), Agger, Gerrard, Kuyt, Meireles, Lucas & Torres.

We also have some good younger players such as Kelly, Pacheco ( although f##king Roy doesn't think so), Wilson, Ngog ( just), Ayala, Mavinga ( again Roy hasn't give him a sniff). These are players at this moment that I beleive should be given more first team exposure now.

So between the 2 groups we have 14 players. So we could sell The Greek, Skertel, Johnson, Konchesky, Poulsen, Babel, Maxi, Aqualaini & Insua would equal approx £60 million & not too many fans would bothered to see the back of them. "All LFC fans are crying out for wingers, in Raheem Sterling we have an exciting right winger and in Suso we have a potential world class left winger. Add to that the fact we are crying out for a creative forward to support Torres. . . . = Pacheco! "

Suso has been thought to be a left-back, centre-back, right winger and on one occasion a goalkeeper! You have labelled Suso a left winger - all are wrong. Yes, he can play on the wing, but he's a Fabregas/ Gerrard type player and thrives as either an attacking CM or a second striker.
Your point about putting Sterling and Suso in or about the first team is crazy - they're 15 and 16 years old! Sterling wouldn't last a minute in the EPL - he's phonemonal for a 15 year old, but has a tendency toward Headless Chicken Syndrome and loses the ball too much. Though I admit should be considered for the bench, he's better than Fabregas was at his age.

Is it Xmas wish list time again. . so many names mentioned that won't happen.

Eden Hazard - won't happen
Mario Gomez - won't happen
Adam Johnson - won't happen
Romelu Lukaku - won't happen
Gary Cahill - won't happen
Ashley Young - won't happen

We need to get real here. NESV's open philosophy is that they want young players who will develop and become marketable in the future, therefore why would they buy any of the above who will all command a fee of £15million plus! !

What is however strange is that if this so called philosophy is true, then why arent Pacheco, Sterling & Suso being used now in or around the 1st team?

All LFC fans are crying out for wingers, in Raheem Sterling we have an exciting right winger and in Suso we have a potential world class left winger. Add to that the fact we are crying out for a creative forward to support Torres. . . . = Pacheco! !

Why spend £30+million on 3 needed players when we have them already, if these 3 youngsters are given a chance to shine they could all in 2-3 years be worth £30million each! ! !

What this club needs is a new Manager to follow the newly employed Chairman, Chief Exec & Director of Football strategy, NESV are starting at the top and working their way down. . . .

Roy is next! !

- -Many good players around who can't get into the first team. That doesn't always mean he is bad. Look at Adam Johnson- he can't make City's first eleven, Shay Given has the same problem. Karim Benzema in Madrid, I bet you also thought Van der Vaart wasnt good enough. There are many players. even Pacheco in our own team who are better than the regulars but still can't make the team, mainly because of the managers.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Man Citeh and Real Madrid buy all the top tallent around. They have a wealth of players that would walk into any first 11, except their own. I am not talking about these 2 clubs with all the players, I was talking about Spurs as that's who Bentley plays for.

To all the people lining up Honda, A. Johnson and even Carlton "not from fresh prince of bel air" Cole. Clubs do not tend to sell or buy big in the January Transfer Window. And if they do, it's rarely money well spent.

We may as well wait till the Summer and use any money available then. Some fans have us making wholesale changes. It will not happen.

There is no reason why we can't go to Spurs and nick something. They play poorly after European games and we (are generally I know crap away under Roy) could still nick it. Then we are in the mixer for top 4.

Very little, as usual, will happen in January.

"Of course there'll be lots of other clubs out there who want to take him but if he really wants to be at the top level he might be well advised to keep learning his trade with these sorts of people around him, rather than to become a bigger fish at a smaller club.

"I'm sure he'll be in the squad for the Europa League next week. I can't guarantee he will start but that's certainly not beyond the bounds of possibility because he has done well enough recently to force his way back to our attention." {ed's note - am I missing something? I agree. What do you consider 'silly money', taking his age into account? There were rumours of Inter and £10m in the summer - I'd say that would be plenty. If playing him up front is Roy's preffered option, do you think all this talk of a £25m+ striker is just that, talk? I reckon that if Kuyt is battling away for 90 minutes his poor first touch will be less of a liability than it is on the right.

SpanishChris

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

£10 million or above I would sell. I completely agree about his first touch. His passing isn't much better neither but you can't knock his work rate or his ability to score important goals. Even if Kuyt goes I can't see NESV buying anyone for £25 million.
I think we need to look at wingers before strikers. We need width to deliver the balls and stretch the defenses for the strikers. If Ngog had a better goals to shots ratio he would be descent.
I've said it before though, I would play Pacheco as a second striker to Torres.

Liverpool Rumours
Responding to newspaper stories suggesting Pacheco could be sold in January, Hodgson said: "He's been doing quite well. He had a little down period which I suppose coincided with the unfortunate Northampton game, when every one of the young players was thrown in together.

"He stuck at his task and in training he's been doing very well. In the last couple of reserve games he's played very well too. It's nice to know he's still very much a part of the Liverpool future.

"He's unlucky in the position he plays, just behind the striker or in a wide role. That's probably where we have most competition at the club right now. For a young player it's not easy to knock the likes of Joe Cole, Dirk Kuyt and Maxi Rodriguez off their perch.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

People i have seen the light. i now understand, i have seen through roy's wily misdirection. It goes something like this. and i know the solution. so bear with me.
You see he hopes people would forget, that we don't notice things. take a sentence above for instance. "in a wide role, that's probably where we have the most competition right now". see how cunning this is. . because he plays raul there. oh hang on he's a midfielder. ok forget that one. we have. mm . mmmm starting to fall apart a bit here.

But don't fear brave supporters. i have the solution. you all know how our revered leader can speak many tongues. well let him do the press conferences in italian and have an intepretor translate into something we can all relate to. so the above sentence about pach and playing wide would then scan something like. " i know i buggered up against northampton but he is a young lad and i am sure someone else will play him so why not let the youngsters take the blame"

See. brilliant. a masterstroke, then we can all truly say we havent got a clue what he is on about without appearing odd

I hope Reina is prepared to be patient and let NESV clear out the garbage instead of just expecting a quick fix. If he isn't willing to be patient then so be it.

I see Mr Hodgson is defending our away record by saying We have had really difficult matches .I am sorry Roy but I went to 4 of those games and it was your tactics that made them difficult.Birmingham City Everton and Stoke, are all games we should be trying to win .If you are trying to tell me you set your team out to win those games you are either deluded or think that Lfc fans are stupid.What do you think Ed? {ed's note - there is no defending Roy's away record, it is abysmal and he needs to accept it and make changes.}

{ed's note - am I missing something? Only I seem to remember Roy playing Meireles wide right because we had no one else to play there.}

Alright Ed, I think the Meireles on the right thing was more to do with forcing Roy's new signing (who looks decent to be fair) into the first 11 without dropping Lucas who'd been in good form. In Roy's mind I imagine he sees Lucas and Meireles above Pacheco in the pecking order - and probably rightly so. What do you think?

LFC_MIKE_YNWA {ed's note - how can you see a central midfielder ahead of a player you say is a winger in the pecking order to play on the wing? Surely that is stupidity of the highest order?}

If silly money comes in for Kuyyt, I would sell him. But I think he will be used as a second striker to Torres. Kuyyt will do all the donkey work leaving Torres free to do what he does best.

MUSHROOM

Forgive my pessemism lads, I'm as passionate a Liverpool fan as any, but to be perfectly honest, I can see nothing but a Tottenham win on Sunday.

Roy Hodgson's away tactics are awful and ineffective, and his away record is a clear indication of that. Spurs are great at home, and on good form so they'll really have a go at us and because we just drop back instead of pressing and stopping them from passing and restricting them.

And we show no ambition. Hodgson sets us up to not lose, and probably hopes for a bit of brilliance from someone or a lucky goal.

team vs steau - 4-3-1-2:

Reina
Kelly Carragher Wilson Aurelio
Gerrard Shelvey Meireles
Cole
Ngog Pacheco

Subs: Mavinga, Skrtel, Suso, Amoo, Torres, Babel, Jovanovic

Cole to play in his 'preffered position' behind not one. but two strikers. Suso to come on in a central attacking midfield role, Amoo on the wing and give Jovanovic/ Babel and run UPFRONT NOT ON THE WING!

@chris1

Thanks for the welcome. I've been reading the site for ages but haven't really posted as the closest I get to being 'in the know' is having a mate who looks like Kenny Huang. He was gutted when KH didn't buy the club as he intended to use his doppleganger status to enhance his copping off strike rate. Anything is better than claiming ownership of 'half the chippy's in Liverpool', which is his current line, along with 'come back to mine and I'll show you me wok'.

With the potential arrival of some genuine wingers, what do people think we'll do with Kuyt? Is it sell to the highest bidder or move him into the second strike position? I'd go for the latter.

A big one for me was Phillip Degen. One of the worst defenders
I' ve seen at this club , and we had Stephen Darby on the ranks
who never got a chance .

Darby was also very poor at RB which is why Kelly has jumped in front of him {ed's note - actually it was injuries to our other right backs in the pre-season of 2009 that forced Rafa to give Kelly a try at right back. It was more a case of just how good he was that he jumped in front of Darby. Though I do doubt Darby will ever make it at Liverpool now, he does have a great attitude, reminiscent of Carragher, and, if given the right coaching and experience, he does have a chance of making it. But he is never going to be a really top class right back now, it is a little too late for him to make that step up I think.}

AGREE ed.
DEGAN IS PROBABLY THE WORST DEFENDER TO HAVE PLAYED FOR LIVERPOOL IN THE PAST 15 YEARS - YES WORST THAN KVARME AND HEGGEM (NOT BAD BUT INJURY PRONE). I HOPE HODGSON DOES NOT BRING ANY MORE DROSS LIKE THAT TO THE CLUB, BUT WITH HIS SWISS LINKS I THINK HE MAY.

Hes in good form, scoring for fun it seems, would you break his good run if you were bayern manager? i certainly wouldn't. putting players on who havent played for a while, in front of those on form is a dangerous move. it could cause a loss in goals and points. unless he gets injured, i expect gomes to be bayerns 1st choice this season, regardless of the other 'big names' who are supposedly in front of him. besides, hes a striker, u mentioned ribery and robben would get on in front of him, who are both wingers
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Van Gaal will use Robben, Ribery and Müller as his front three when they are all fit. He's a massive fan of Olic also.

I don't think he's a big fan of Gomez and I understand they had an exchange of words shortly after Van Gaal arrived, so I don't think that will change.

Gomez being on great form and scoring will only get Bayern more money for him I'd imagine. But I'd happily pay £20m for his services.

Subject: Hodgson on Pacheco today

FOR THOSE WHO ARE UNDECIDED ABOUT ROY HODGSON, OR STICK UP FOR HIM AS A NICE BLOKE, CHECK THIS OUT. .

In his press conference today, Hodgson was quoted as saying in response to questions about Pacheco "He's been doing quite well. He had a little down period which I suppose coincided with the unfortunate Northampton game, when every one of the young players was thrown in together."

HANG ON ROY! Here's your starting 11 against Northampton. .

01 Jones
05 Agger
16 Kyrgiakos
22 Wilson *
34 Kelly *
21 Lucas
26 Spearing *
12 Pacheco *
14 Jovanovic
19 Babel
24 Ngog

Ince, Eccleston and Shelvey were all thrown on in extra time, once the starting 11 had failed to win it in normal time.

Wilson, Kelly, Spearing and Pacheco were the only youngsters starting. Spearing and Kelly already had a bit of experience in the first team as well. I've not included Ngog as a youngster, as he has considerable first team experience now.

So in essense, Hodgson turned to those 3 players to try and get him out of a whole, after it had already been dug.

Again - His quote is "every one of the young players was thrown together"! !

WHAT A TERRIBLE STATEMENT HE HAS MADE TODAY FOR HIS FAITH IN THE YOUNGSTERS, WHILE TRYING TO PALM OFF RESPONSIBILITY ON THEM IN THE SAME BREATH FOR A BAD RESULT.

UNBELIEVABLE! HE SHOULD GO NOW! ! HE WILL NEVER PROMOTE YOUTH AS NESV WANT THEIR MANAGER TO DO.

Do you think Tom Werner noted these comments today? Has anyone else?

Ed, Macca, Blair, anyone. . Have I misread this, or am I right?! Anyone agree?

Red Gart {ed's note - I just think it is better not to take any notice of his press conferences, they have been a total disaster since day one. Every time he does one I half expect him to wave a ticket stub for the underground ala Gross at Spurs. He just seems that out of touch with the fans.}

So lads and ladies, what players do you think aren't good enough for Liverpool FC and should be sold? And why (if applicable, obviously some players are self-explanitory).

Paul Konchesky - Poor left-back. Won't be here long.
Milan Jovanovic - Hasn't really had a chance, but not worth what we're supposedly paying for him.
Sotirios Kyrgiakos - Had a good season so far, but we could do better, he's older now so time to cash in.
Maxi Rodriguez - Hasn't impressed me. 30 soon, and not worth the £80,000 a week he gets.
Ryan Babel - Great potential. But never plays so he'll want to leave.
Jay Spearing - Not good enough imo. Never lived up to his spoken potential.
Christian Poulsen - Need I say any more??
Charles Itandje - Poor keeper, disrespectful pig. Out.

All in all, I think we could get about £14m for all of those players if we're being realistic. (Maybe more).

Obviously, I'm sure one or two of us would maybe put more names from our squad forward.

Love this site, some quality posts. I think what we all need to remember regarding players being linked is the quote from Broughton re the takeover 'if its in the paper it aint true' I think the same can go for NESV too, they appear to be doing things the Liverpool way, playing their cards close to their chests, did anyone see Comolli joining us?
I also think the major decisions about new players will be made by Comolli and Dalglish, he has already said he has spoken to Kenny re the type of player we should sign (attitude/ desire etc), the type of player ANY manager would want to work with so if the manager goes (be it Roy or anyone else) a major squad overhaul won't be needed.

I would have to agree with you there. When it came to Rafa Benitez, I personally believe he had blind faith in these players, but also wanted to keep playing them in the hope that they impressed, basically a bit of an ego booster or "I was right you were wrong" sort of thing. Was much the same with the zonal marking etc.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing though. Plus, it's questionable whether the youngsters we had were up to the job, they got to play in the early stages of the FA Cup and Carling Cup and never impressed at all.

Why would they let Gomez go out on loan after the form he has been in so far this season?
they said in the summer hes not going anywhere!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Gomez was close to coming to us on loan, and apparantly he was very interested in the idea.

Bayern Munich cancelled the deal late on because they changed their mind about letting him come on loan. One of their board members had a bit of a rant about us, saying we had a cheek wanting him on loan then he slagged off our debt problems.

And I think Ivica Olic having a few injury problems has given him a breakthrough. Whether Van Gaal has changed his mind about Gomez or not remains to be seen.

Now NESV are owners and Commolli is in charge of transfers, we must not buy players that Chelsea, Arsenal, Man U and City would not even consider buying. Would Sir Alex or Arsene buy Carlton Cole? Of course not! From now on we should buy less but better players, and look to give our youth a chance. A £20m player and 3 talented youngsters is better than 4 £5m players.

Sometimes we had no choice but to buy four £5m players, or our squad would have been left incredibly thin. In the past we've maybe required three players, whilst working on a budget of £20m or so. {ed's note - and that is the point, we could have given chances to quality youngsters instead of buying dross on huge wages to clutter up the bench.}

Seriously, people need to stop it with the Adam Johnson fantasies. Obviously we want a gifted and fast winger that can cross and score, AND who adds to the home-grown numbers in the squad. Of course we do.
But two things:
1. He can get awkward like Masch and Lescott did, but if they let him go, City will control who he signs for.
And they have enough cash and squad depth that they can let him rot on the fringes of the squad, train separately etc, rather than have him disrupt the squad, or let him to go to LFC.
They know us and Spurs are probably their big rivals for 4th spot, and Mancini and his squad are absolutely desperate to get 4th and prove themselves. NO way will he ever let such a quality player come to a rival- not yet anyway.

2. We don't have any players that they want (and that we can afford let go), to tempt them into a deal.

3. He will be very expensive, and NESV will see cheaper foreign options who are just about as good, if not premiership proven maybe.
The best homegrown players seem to fetch inflated prices just because they ARE homegrown, and lets face it there arent that many truly world class talents for the top premiership contenders to pick from.

Sad thing is that we do need a home-grown player or two as well. The top teams want their 8 home grown players to be the very best available. They want to avoid the situation where they have a regular first team full of super-talented foreigners, and a bench full of home-grown donkeys.
We are lucky in that our home grown quota includes some great players: Gerrard, Johnson, Cole, and arguably Carra (but for how much longer).
One other reason why Pacheco should get a few more chances to prove himself- I heard on the site he counts as homegrown because of his time at LFC.
So Suso will become a home-grown player in a couple of seasons, I think- is that right Ed? {ed's note - he will count if he stays with us, yes.}

Massive dealings in Jan.
First A Johnson and M Richards in a swap for G Johnson and £5 million!

If only this would true, would be great business - however, City are not stupid - Johnson must be valued at a min of £12m, Richards at £8m plus £5m?

If Johnson is worth £25m - wow - Kelly must be pushing £20m already !

Have it from a great source that Liverpool have enquired about both Johnson from City and Young from Villa.

The answer from City is that they are willing to sell but are looking for nearly three times what they paid for the player, with an asking price of £20m! - Personally, if we could get him for £12-15m then great, but not worth any more (he is brilliant for 10mins or so every game, then goes missing a little)

Surprisingly, despite all the stupid fee's being banded about for Young, Liverpool have received a positive response but Villa are looking for a swap deal, and have highlighted three players they are willing to deal with, being, Kuyt, Aqua and Johnson (please note, not all of them but any individual) - Cannot see any wanting to go so deal off unless we are willing to pay c£22m. Again, not worth it in my book.

Talking of two years ago, what an absolute change in fortunes for both Liverpool and Spurs. I believe it was around this time when Arthur Daly took over Spurs from Ramos and his first game was against LFC.

We at the time, if memory serves correctly, were unbeaten and Spurs rock bottom. The game itself we were absoutely superb, ran the show, scored in the 3rd minute through Kuyt, had chances to win literary 7 or 8 and. . . .lost the game somehow!

Roll on two years and the game will be an exact opposite, but only this time the dominate team will win and comfortably as well.

The ruling is not based on a calendar year but a season. To my knowledge (though i'll gladly stand corrected if anyone can provide proof one way or the other) neither played for their prior teams this season before making their transfers, thus they can leave for any club in January, not just those they came from. {ed's note - correct mate, they can go anywhere.}

We have been looking At Carlton Cole, Shawcross, hleb, affelay javier pastore, Arda turan, Gervinho and alexis sanchez.

Carlton cole has been looked at since the summer. but price tag is ridiculous.

Shawcross is a long term replacement for carragher. but also could be the agger replacement.

Hleb was being scouted and the availablility of the player has been questioned.

Affelay - already gone.

Javier Pastore the man is a very strong midfielder has a lot to his game kind of like Van Der vaart loves to get stuck in and create and get in thebox for his goals. (problem with this a striker is needed more.

Arda Turan apperently questions being asked about his strength.

Gervinho looks like a move we will be going for in January although the bidding could rise as much as 12-15 million! a lot for unproven.

Sanchez yes we have been tracking him for a while but the price tag we may aswell just stop looking now.

Im not syaing this is 100% reliable just a friend that works within Liverpool. he sad he doesn't know anything about Johnson or Honda its just paper talk apperently.

The so called war chest of 35 million liverpool are supposed to have to spend where did that originate from?

Mr. Henry and Mr. Werner have certainly has not mentioned spending 35 million
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Money will be made available for the right players at the right price. No set amount has EVER been mentioned on how much there is to spend. A lot of dead wood needs to be shipped out first as these guys are happy sucking money out of the club and under-performing. Unfortunately Poulsen can not be sold in January, only back to Juventus. All funds from player sales will be put back into the squad either in January or the summer.

If people actually listened to what info comes out of the club and not what the papers print, you would know this.

MUSHROOM

{Editor's Note: I think that this is a pretty good explanation and certainly there is no specified "war chest" as Mushroom points out, and there is no "Masch Money" as a number of people keep quoting. It will be up to the scouts, the manager and Damien Comolli to agree specific targets and justify the benefits that they can bring to the club. I would expect Tom Werner to give the final decision to proceed but there is no reason to think that he would doubt or go against the advice of Comolli. Within reason, I would expect NESV and the board to support the purchase of players.}

Jose Segura? I think we've got a lot of potential at the club, I just feel that we are trying to mold them into the perfect player before sticking them in the first team. There is no way you can ever do that as you need first team experience to develop yourself, you learn from your mistakes. Imagine if Messi had been at our academy, he would not be the player he is today. What's the point of championing defending and tracking back over attacking flair? You've got defenders for defending. Look at Gerrard when he first broke into the team, tonnes of raw talent. He's developed himself, learnt himself. He wasn't moulded into a robot and then given his chance was he.

Ed, do you agree? {ed's note - fully agree, just give the best one a run of games and see what he does. That is how it should be, only one or two top class players each season, use the young kids as the back ups to cover for injuries. We would do a lot better with a much smaller wage bill doing that.}

Call him what you lke Lad, Spanish Waiter or whatever. .No one ever said his Man-Management was the best but he gave Liverpool an outlook and a way out of mediocrity that was missing since the 80's.

say what you want but he turned us back into a squad feared and respected in all of Europe. .

so he missed a few tricks. . couldn't sign many of his first choices because of the greedy American p*gs.

But look at what he did which no one else has done in the recent DECADES

Torres
Reina
Masch
N'Gog
Lucas
Agger
Kuyt

Almost signed teh following but fore the lack of money;

Aguero
Silva
Mata
Hazard
Christiano Ronaldo

Sold Alonso, the worst piece of business. but Alonso wanted to leave for Madrid as any spanish player would. .after Rafa gave him a wake-up call with the Barry saga, he improved to world class again, but he lost his heart in the club.

Took Gerrerd to another level, took Torres to another level, improved Lucas, N'Gog and Masch & Insua and would have taken Bable to another level too i'm sure

Great champions League presence and a win too
FA cup win
Defeated all of the major European sides. only didn't get to face Barca.

In the minds of the MAJORITY of the fans, Rafa is already Immortalized, and while he may not have been the one to take us to full glory, i.e. league title, he certainly set us on the path, he gave the fans that hope, and he loved the club and the fans and the city. .

So anyone calling him a Spanish Waiter. . Shut up! This from a devoted lifelong fan. .i respect Rafa. And you all can now watch Roy, because soon you may wish you'd never heard the name Hodgeson. .Then i'd like to see what you call HIM (the 'GWIN WEEPER'?)

I find the whole love Rafa v Hate Rafa debate quite funny. . In my opinion we would have never had signed the likes of Torres, Alonso, Reina, Garcia and Riera if we didn't have him in the hot seat. The Spanish contingent he brought along HAS to be credited. A lot of us are excited by the prospects of Pacheco and Suso. If Rafa hadn't of been here we wouldn't be getting excited about these two players as they would be at a different club. Wilson will prove to be an amazing signing as well. There appears to be a lot of talk on this website that Adam Johnson would not leave city for Liverpool. Adam Johnson, in many respects, is one of the brightest English players at he moment. He is not a bench warmerer*

Liverpool, as im sure you'll all agree, are still one of the biggest clubs in the world and for Adam Johnson, if he was promised first team football at Anfield he would jump at the chance!

He would slot in the team with immediate impact on the squad and give a new dimension of width and attack minded football. This guy can play.

If he does become available Liverpool should pull out all the stops to sign him; he would become an Anfiled great.

Liverpool Rumours
Liverpool have announced that they will tour the Far East for pre-season in the Summer 2011. Before this date, Liverpool will announce that a Football Academy in Hong Kong will be opened in early 2012. Liverpool see the Far Eastern market as a golden opportunity to brand themselves out there. Also, the Club's main sponsors, Standard Chartered, is heavily associated to the Far Eastern banking system, so the tour and academy is advantageous for both businesses. Liverpool will make a crucial signing whom they hope will help them crack the Far Eastern market in Keisuke Honda. A tour in Hong Kong will no doubt expand the Liverpool branding there, especially those who purchase Liverpool merchandise with one of their own in Honda on the back of their shirts. Its good business all round and a smart move on all accounts.
Honda's agent has already said should a big European club come in for Honda he will leave CSKA Moscow.

{Editor's Note: Whilst I agree that Liverpool will be looking to exploit the Far East as a market, and I agree that there is an excellent chance of Keisuke Honda joining the club, Iyou may not be aware that Honda is Japanese and not Chinese. He comes from something like 2,000 miles from Kong Kong and there is a chance that he may not even be allow to enter China if there is any escalation in respect of the very poor political relationship between the countries regarding the disputed Senkaku Islands and other significant issues.}

Whilst not perhaps the ideal forum for a debate on semantics, the use of elitist in this case is a bit dubious, and at best doesn't really scan. The word, in common parlance, has negative connotations in the main, relating more to arrogance than to any notion of success or a congratulatory application. The word elite would better suit. ;-)

To Hector

To Chris 1, we all want the club to do well and win, I see Roy as the manager who will underpin the foundations and give the new future manager a solid base to work from.It's not great football the team play, but have faith the bridge will be built and all of us will get over it one way or the other.

I can only agree with your sentiments. and yes we ALL want us to do well. I do support the team, the players. and even tho it doesn't seem like it even the manager by default. I don't agree with what he is doing or the way he is doing it but as others have said until he is replaced then we have to support the whole structure that is liverpool.
But can we please get away from this childish ethos that to critisise roy is somehow an anti roy campaign. it isnt. truly it isnt. .but we the supporters are the ones that trundle to the matches through thick and thin. we shall be here long after roy has gone, long after some players have left. and ultimately its our club. do we not have any rights to voice concerns, to argue if we percieve things to be wrong,
But yes you are correct. we all want the same thing

Ed, how many journalists read this site? Most of what has been talked about on this site ends up in the daily toilet papers. That's just lazy reporting. Maybe we should make stuff up and see (although a lot of peoples rumours could be deemed as make believe).

MUSHROOM

{Editor's Note: I know of one regular reader and contributor (but he does not work for the "daily toilet papers" and one regular visitor (but not a contributor). I would suspect that there are a number of others who will flick through posts on a reasonably regular basis. As for "lazy reporting", I am sure they would see it is "exploring all avenues".}

Roy Hodgson will continue to steady the ship by selling Pacheco, Agger, Babel and Jovanovic in January.

Pacheco - He may have won the golden boot at the U19 Euro Championships, and he may be considered one of the brightest young talents we've had at the club in a decade, but he's not British or Scandinavian, he's not 29+, and he can play football, so he has to go.

Agger - Despite being Scandinavian, he has the huge disadvantage of being able to play football, which of course means he has no place in Roy Hodgson's team. Let's hope we can find a buyer and get him off the wage bill, but honestly, who would want him?

Jovanovic - 29, tall, from Serbia. You'd think he'd be the first name on any Hodgson teamsheet, but rumour has it that Poulsen saw Roy checking him out in the showers and got jealous. Eager to prove his love for Christian, Roy cut Milan out of the team and is selling him to remove his temptation.

Here's to some glorious years under Roy "The Owl" "Hoofmeister" Hodgson.

Just throwing this one at you chris 1. Adding more fuel to your fire.
If he wins us the league (yeah right) or gets us into a champions league spot, what will you say then?

MUSHROOM (waiting for the rant)

Its ok. no rant. if i am proved wrong then i shall come on here and apologise. and deep down i would love to be proved wrong because that will mean we have some measure of success and see signs for the future.
Excuse me if i don't hold my breath for that tho lol

Hi

My name is John.

John W. Henry

I would like the participants as well as the editors of this website to suggest the names of only the top 2 players you would like to see at Liverpool.

These 2 names must be by popular demand. You will surely see them playing for the LFC.

Players must not be older than 23 and must be available immediately for the first team as well as the starting 11.

Your wish is my command.
Ho ho ho
Merry christmas

JW Henry

Tottenham v Liverpool (1600 GMT)

Liverpool are very unattractive away from home, very negative and not pretty to watch. Meanwhile, Spurs at home are the polar opposite.
They are exciting, fast and play some impressive football. And on the back of their 3-0 victory against Bremen midweek, I would expect them to continue their winning run.
Harry Redknapp has a great squad with depth - one of his few concerns is marrying Champions League progress with the Premier League.
Prediction: 2-0

(Lawro's predictions.) I HOPE YOU'RE READING THIS ROY and I hope werner/ henry read it as well

Again the embarrassing comments from Roy. Hopefully we can "spring a surprise" by getting a result at spurs. Seriously, regardless if he stays till the end of the season can we PLEASE keep him away from the press

We are being linked with every half decent young player in the world, next will be linked with Tafadzwa Dzikiti from zimbabwe, sadly truth is most of these players won't wear the red shirt.

I see honda coming in not too sure if its in jan or the summer,
Hazard, payet, m'villa (spelling) all aren't coming
poulsen to stay another season if roy is still here next season. Ed wot u fink?

{Editor's Note: I think that you should not pretend you are good enough to play for Liverpool.}

Torres has personally gone to the new owners and stated that he was thinking of leaving both liverpool and the premier league in the summer due to it being too physical for him and he wishes he could play at front with another striker to take some of the impact away from himself.

If the LFC board believe in the Manager , then the Manager deserves support , only the Manager can prove his own worth , and there is enough time this season for LFC to be successful . Regardless of any changes that could be made by the start of next season , the team has the chance to do well , and I look forward to them proving their worth , in due course .
