Who do you guys think our most important player is? I know many will argue Firmino, but we played well against Chelsea without him. I personally can't see anybody else performing the role that Henderson does in our system to such a good standard. Brilliant player.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

26 Nov 2016 23:51:55
Matip, Hendo, Firmino.

27 Nov 2016 01:39:59
Team game but Mane's pace has been a massive plus.

27 Nov 2016 05:18:33
Hendo has been class - I think we've missed lallana big time the last 2 games.

27 Nov 2016 18:55:19
Phil. Gutted about his injury. can't replace a player like that.

28 Nov 2016 13:40:59
The team is our most important player.

26 Nov 2016 23:09:15
Not sure if I'm being pessimistic but is it a concern that we can't break teams down when they effectively concede possession to us and completely sit back? We've looked so good in most games but last few few just concerning. Could be be from following the reds for last 25 years and expecting the worst.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

26 Nov 2016 23:31:58
Well we did, lucky or not sometimes when you challange for the title you need to win ugly and get the rub of the green. It should only be concerning when it's consistently a problem and at the moment, it's not. What I am concerned about is whether we can still get the results we need without coutinho, lallana, Sturridge and eventually mane as well.

27 Nov 2016 00:26:05
But we did break them down we won 2-0.

27 Nov 2016 00:51:50
Last time I checked you get 90 min to "break a team down"

27 Nov 2016 01:35:40
I think we all would like to be up 2-0 after 20 minutes to settle the nerves but that just isn't going to happen in every game. A 2 goal victory and a clean sheet, i'm happy with that.

27 Nov 2016 04:10:46
Good Morning all Reds! Wonderful 3 points.
Manua, S'hamton, Sun all park their bus. Its frustrating yes but it shows how much we have improved and raise our fear factor in the eye of our opponents.
So long as our defense keep improving, our forward can keep bombarding at other end. We should do ok most of occassion. YNWA!

28 Nov 2016 13:42:53
We broke them down and scored two goals, just like we did Watford, Hull, and WBA. We also broke down Saints` bus but did not take our chances. We are able to break teams down 80% of the time and if we continue to do that, we`ll be ok.

26 Nov 2016 21:09:02
Very well done to us today, I thought we'd win but I also thought Sunderland could've upset us today, we kept it going and got them all important 3 points along with a clean sheet.

With Chelsea winning again it's a damn good job we won, we're keeping close which is the most important. Half of it now is who slips up first, we have multiple goal scorers as do they but I think it has been said by somebody else, without Costa I see them struggling. We're in a position where we aren't relying on one player, it's a team we have who are all playing excellent. Well chuft to see Origi bag another one, he's something special that lad, I hope to see much more of him in the coming weeks/ months, he never fails to impress.

Gutted to see Coutinho injured, let's hope it's not as bad as it looked but I fear maybe it's a serious one, who knows fingers crossed it's minor.

Ed1, a while back it was reported Ojo had started training again if I remember correctly? any news on when he may be available? - I'm not expecting him to be available next week or anything like that but it'd be nice to see him around this season at some point. The kid can be incredible and can't wait to see more of him.

YNWA - Bring on Leeds.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - The club don't know when he will be available.}

26 Nov 2016 22:18:58
I want to see more of ben woodburn, if you are good enough you are old enough, could he replace mane when he goes to the ACON? and if not, why not?

26 Nov 2016 21:32:17
Thanks ed2.

26 Nov 2016 22:42:08
yes kingkenny7, young Woodburn does look pretty promising, hopefully we see more of him as well.

26 Nov 2016 23:40:12
What's happened to brannagan? He looked quality last season, he would be a good option also.

27 Nov 2016 09:27:05
Woodburn replace Mane! Deary me! give the kid a break let him settle in he had 30 seconds on thr pitch due to others injuries.

27 Nov 2016 15:39:18
when we gave fowler, gerrard, carragher, owen and more recently sterling a chance they took it, I have every confidence that woodburn could step up, ojo looked good in the 1st team before his injury, woodburn could do the same, there is nothing wrong in supporters like me having faith in our youngsters rather than calling for new signings every 5 mins, somebody has to replace mane, who do you suggest?

28 Nov 2016 13:50:01
KK7, Woodburn is only 17 and still very wet behind the ears in the first team, as talented as he is because I saw him in preseason. Give him time.

26 Nov 2016 20:15:29
I know whatever team you support you do not want any of your players injured, but injury is apart of the game it will happen to any player. Is it not better to if we can cope now without a player now as its close to the transfer window if we can not use the other players to replace anyone as if we are doing great by March and start losing players, this is when we could start losing games. Also no matter how we play a win is a win like us of old.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

26 Nov 2016 20:40:37
Pretty sure we just coped without him in a game where we had no warning we would even need to!

Time for Origi and Sturridge to step up. Isn't that what most people on here have been calling for the last month? Especially Harry! You can have your out and out striker now!

26 Nov 2016 23:48:52
Sturridge doesn't fit into the system then say. So I agree with them. Origi on the other hand is a decent shout.

26 Nov 2016 23:57:07
Origi did step up. Cracking goal.

28 Nov 2016 13:54:25
Origi fits into the system, Studge does not. Fixed it for you, Harry.

26 Nov 2016 20:08:13
First time poster. Liverpool fc got my support in the early 80's (yes I was a glory seaker) . Liverpool fc got my heart and soul after hillsborough. I was so proud today how my team broke down two busses and got the win. The glory days are coming back. Man of the match Klopp. Motivating a team is one thing. Motivating a stadium full is another. Believe. YNWA.

Believable14 Unbelievable0

26 Nov 2016 20:30:37
Fully agree. Turning point of the game. Klopp suddenly turns around and asks for fan support. The stadium volume suddenly goes up. The players feel it and move up a gear. Sunderland's box area is under constant siege. And Origi scores. Masterclass in situation management by Klopp.

26 Nov 2016 20:00:59
Gerrard comes back and what do you know. Our two best players injured; such a negative impact.

GERRARD OUT.

In all seriousness, glad to see origi step up. Think he will get a big run of games coming up.

Believable8 Unbelievable7

28 Nov 2016 13:55:36
He already was out, lol.

26 Nov 2016 19:00:50
To all the hindsight predictors. When would u have changed to plan b. and do u think we'd av won with plan b?

Believable2 Unbelievable9

26 Nov 2016 19:09:42
Considering we brought on our "plan B" forward after 30 minutes, I'm not really sure it's possible for anyone to answer that question.

26 Nov 2016 19:54:42
This is not an issue of plan A or B or C. Origi has shown he can play in the system (plan A? ) and in fact, we did not switch to plan B (whatever that means) as the sub is comfortable in plan A.

26 Nov 2016 20:13:01
That's my point chaps?! No one wins every game so in hindsight we can all say how our plans work. but we shown today how we can beat a team who parks the bus this wk with our tactics. but nxt week maybe not?!

26 Nov 2016 21:55:14
As Klopp said pre season.
There is no superstar.
All players are equally important to the group.
Those not playing have exactly the same status as those on the pitch.

It must be great for Ben Woodburn to hear things like that.

It was a tricky win today as sunderland have won the last 2 but Moyes said he was bringing the bus.

27 Nov 2016 19:51:19
This thing about a plan B, Barcelona don't really have one, just fresh players to keep plan A going! Saying that, other than for the reason why, I was sort of glad when Origi came on, as I thought his physical presence helped our cause somewhat!

26 Nov 2016 18:51:49

26 Nov 2016 17:20:39
A piece of much needed relief

Suggestion from inside Anfield is Coutinho injury isn't as bad as first feared - only scans will confirm though.

Believable6 Unbelievable5

26 Nov 2016 17:23:32
Klopp on Coutinho: "It is an ankle injury but we can’t say anymore until we see a scan. Firmino got a knock on the calf as well. "

26 Nov 2016 17:26:26
But onto more important news for you, Harry, what's the latest Chelsea gossip?!

26 Nov 2016 17:44:39
There's probably swelling so they can't really tell yet. Ideal outcome is a couple of days of training and back in for the weekend.

Also Spurs 1-0 up against Chelsea, which is good. Want Spurs to win that because I don't think they're a threat over the whole season, wheras Chelsea are.

26 Nov 2016 17:46:03
They are being dominated at home by Spurs so far with Dembele just running the show. Never seen a player making Kante look a kid. Still early, Spurs complete domination.

26 Nov 2016 18:14:59
I disagree. I believe spurs are the more consistent threat.

26 Nov 2016 18:26:51
I'm less worried about Spurs because they've already been shown to be nearly toothless without Kane, and unless they lose at home to CSKA, they're going to have Thursday night footie in the new year.

Chelsea aren't exactly prolific either, but they have no Europe and are more capable of grinding out 1-0s.

26 Nov 2016 18:28:37
Thanks for the Chelsea update, Harry. As for Couts, it looks more like a sprained ankle than a broken one hence if it is the former, then he'll be back in a couple of weeks.

26 Nov 2016 20:19:42
Zeddicus and Hamilton lol. brilliant

Crooky.

26 Nov 2016 17:16:37
Origi is a fantastic player. He's unlucky not be starting games. Has everything.

Believable10 Unbelievable0

26 Nov 2016 17:24:15
He is starting against Leeds for sure. Firmino will be rested.

26 Nov 2016 18:30:09
That goal was all him. They were expecting a cross and he fooled them and the GK who had no chance. He will be starting v Leeds and prolly vs Bournmouth.

26 Nov 2016 19:12:58
Agreed mate he's going to be top class for us i think. Never fails to impress me.

26 Nov 2016 19:56:19
Spot on, Lfc16. Origi is the one whose progress and development i'm really looking forward.

26 Nov 2016 21:12:39
Was at the Spurs game in the EFL cup and Origi was the best player on the pitch until he came off. This kid could be brilliant and I think Klopp is doing a great job with him.

26 Nov 2016 21:57:02
For Origi.

Thanks Brendan.

26 Nov 2016 17:14:06
Okay. Yessssssss. Back on track! And the message is - "Go ahead and park your double decker bus. Bring your triple decker if you want. But we're going to pound you and pound you without any letup, until the ball is in your net". Message heard around the Leaugue. :-)

Believable18 Unbelievable0

26 Nov 2016 17:59:48
Sorry Ra but sounds like your advocating sexual assault on the pitch.

26 Nov 2016 18:09:51
LOL Roland-dinho. Only to those who think in those ways. I'm here for football. End of.

26 Nov 2016 18:34:15
Spot on, Ra. The lack of composure that eluded us in front of goal vs Saints did not elude us today and credit to the manager, the players and the fans because this was a club win. The adversity we faced today required all parties concerned to get stu in and we did. Well done, LFC Nation!

26 Nov 2016 17:05:20

Good luck to Ben Woodburn who's on the bench today.

This lad has a HUGE future ahead of him.

26 Nov 2016 16:56:19
First thing he did was fall over, bless him lol.

26 Nov 2016 17:18:30
Hsf first thing was a good tackle!

26 Nov 2016 15:52:58
Only 1 half of football, but I honestly don't think I've ever been more annoyed at a commentator in my life. He literally chatted 45 minutes of parsley. Our performance didn't help tbf.

Need to win today and get the momentum going again. It's a pity Sturridge is out but i think we are used to it by now. 2-0 to Liverpool.

26 Nov 2016 14:49:42
Sturridge? Why's it a pity? He does bigger all anyway.

26 Nov 2016 11:41:56
Whenever I transfer players in good form into my dream team, they always collapse and have about 10 bad games in a row.

So I have taken one for the team this weekend and transferred in Anichebe. Should I make him captain as well just to be safe? My captain usually ends up scoring minus points or at best 2 points just for completing 90 minutes.

26 Nov 2016 12:51:42
Me too me so I've filled mine with Sanchez costa ibra lik aki 😎 Just dropped aguero ruined him I have 😂😂😂🍻.

See John, this is what happens when you drop Aguero! He equalises : (

26 Nov 2016 14:00:45
I have Bobby triple point captain today. Expecting plenty of goals. Let's get back to winning ways with a big win.

26 Nov 2016 11:32:53
There was a piece on the daily fail by Carra that I just read, about management, how players who have had good careers on pitch are cautious about management. Good read in my opinion, Carra was pretty honest I felt, in his assessment.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

26 Nov 2016 11:15:48
I'd like to see origi start today, feel he deserves a shot. Sunderland will surely park the bus, but a target man may help.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

26 Nov 2016 11:23:30
He is starting as Danny is injured. Or wait Klopp might play 3 CM's.

26 Nov 2016 11:36:40
What is wrong with playing 3 centre mids in a 4-3-3 system?

I do agree that this is a great game to bring in Origi though. Just don't see why who drops out? Couts, Firmino and Mane are playing out of their skins right now.

26 Nov 2016 11:56:04
Nothing wrong in a 4-3-3 or whatever unless your CM's are a constant threat at the opposition and has a better chance of scoring / assisting than the one who is benched for.
Origi has more chance of scoring at home than any CM. Hence I drop one CM ( Wiji / Can ) and play a striker, So I try to score as much as possible.

26 Nov 2016 11:58:08
I drop one CM and play Coutinho more centrally ( He is anyways going to drop deep during the course ) Play origi and use his pace and power from the flanks or up front .

You don't need 3 CM's plus Coutinho in the side.

26 Nov 2016 12:36:24
We have played every league game so far this season with 3 in midfield and we are second having had by far the toughest fixture list of all the title contenders.

Why change a winning formula. Can, Lallana, Henderson and Wijnaldum have 7 goals and 9 assists combined from midfield this season already. With the way we play, dominating the midfield is critical. If you commit so many players forward, you need to have the man power in midfield to close down right across the pitch and prevent the opposition from breaking on you. It is hardly like they are detrimental to our offensive play though with a hand in 16 goals already!

I don't think lack of goals is our main problem. We've only failed to score 3 times and it was largely down to inspired goal keeping in each of those games. We are top scorers in the league. I think overall we are improving as the season goes on. The Saints game was a blip that probably wasn't helped by the international break. Most of the big guns across Europe had an off game last weekend.

Keep the faith Harry. Klopp knows what he is doing.

26 Nov 2016 12:50:47
Why change the attacking 3 you would just change formation to a 4 2 3 1 and firmino in the 10 and Origi 9 . Hendo still 6 and can or GW 8.

26 Nov 2016 13:13:35
MK

Henderson - Can / Wiji - Coutinho is good enough as midfielders. No need of adding another CM there.

The third midfielder is always Lallana or Coutinho.

26 Nov 2016 14:07:17
Well Klopp has stuck with what is working so there we go.

26 Nov 2016 17:07:41
Harry always thinks he knows best even tho, Klopp is debunking that claim with almost every passing day.

26 Nov 2016 17:48:08
Hamilton

I am limited unlike you and Klopp nor I have a coaching badge. But I have an opinion on things I see on the pitch. I am right to claim we weren't great in the first half.

Cheers Ed 001, I was a going to ask if Lallana was fit for today.

Any idea how long he's sidelined for?

{Ed001's Note - he is expected back next weekend.}

26 Nov 2016 07:20:13
Cheers Ed.

26 Nov 2016 07:22:50
Thanks ed1, as always absolutely brilliant.

{Ed001's Note - thanks mate.}

26 Nov 2016 07:54:05
I ll take the credit for pushing Ed01 on this article 😎. Good one mate. Chelsea vs Spurs would be a good fixture as well Leicester vs Boro.

26 Nov 2016 09:18:58
It will be a good game Harry, Chelsea Spurs, obviously hoping for a draw on this one but somehow I can see Chelsea coming unstuck on this fixture. Mind you their recent form has been nothing short of fantastic, I am just been hopeful I think.

All I know is if they win, we need to keep on them, we can't let anybody go tons of points ahead if we keep winning we're right there with them! (nevermind if, should I say when we keep winning)

I hope Burnley upset City of course who knows, they did it to us. I want us on top with a decent gap and if we carry it on we're laughing.

Games like Sunderland we need to be winning and I'm sure we will!

Thanks again Ed1, who needs a newspaper on a weekend now!

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, glad to help.}

26 Nov 2016 09:41:33
Cheers Ed001!

{Ed001's Note - very welcome mate.}

26 Nov 2016 11:07:33
Great insight to the action ahead ed cheers and with an afternoon nap all done I am ready to go.

{Ed001's Note - hopefully the games are exciting enough to keep you awake!}

26 Nov 2016 11:17:38
I'll be fine thanks mate, it's the cricket that puts me to sleep.

{Ed001's Note - that I fully understand, there is little more boring than cricket.}

26 Nov 2016 11:25:23
Ed01, Golf may be. Never understood the game at all 🙄.

{Ed001's Note - that is boring as well, but at least there is nice countryside there.....}

26 Nov 2016 11:27:46
Thanks for the review Ed. Some really good matches this weekend. Obviously looking forward for the game at Anfield. Watford and Stoke should be entertaining. Really important game for Swansea and Palace, as they go head to head, as well. I hope the London derby is also an exciting game, well, actually an exciting draw haha!

{Ed001's Note - cheers.}

26 Nov 2016 12:07:20
Great review Edoo1's and you were bang on about Stone's who is dropped.

{Ed001's Note - thanks mate.}

26 Nov 2016 01:06:33
Been quite annoyed by some rhetoric that Klopp brought Sturridge on too late.

We were not only enjoying momentum but creating numerous great chances that required a final midas touch into the back of the net.

"But how can the attack have worked if it didn't score any goals? It is its job to score goals! "

No, an attacking structure's specific job is to create chances. The structure is designed under the presumption that individual players will then be able to finish off enough chances.

You don't make a changes to a team enjoying a good spell on the 60th minute just because it hasn't scored any goals yet. You need to give it as much chance as possible to finish it off. You only change your team when something is going wrong or you need to be more defensive. If you want your team's finishing woes to change, then bringing on one player isn't going to change the finishing form of the rest of them.

Clearly, people listen way too much to mindless commentators, who were instigating this rhetoric in the match. The same commentators who said Liverpool were struggling to break down deep-sitting teams like Southampton. What rubbish, how many clear-cut chances did Liverpool need to create to demonstrate otherwise?

Rant over.

Believable4 Unbelievable4

26 Nov 2016 05:01:16
So you are saying that just because the forwards are missing clear-cut chances, it doesn't make sense to bring on a different forward? i'd have to disagree.
Having said that, i have had no complaints with Klopps decisions and trust that he knows the best time to make substitutions.

26 Nov 2016 06:20:20
Nick

Y was he brought at the 80th min? You should have carry on with the same team to keep up the momentum and chances creation?
Let's not bring any subs until there is an injury?

26 Nov 2016 06:41:54
I agree as regards to your 60 mins, but at some point a fresh perspective also scares the opposition and I think giving him 20mins rather than 10mins would have been nice. Whatever happens though, it may not have made the difference either way, or maybe they even would have scored so it's pointless making a big deal about it.

What I'd like to see vs Sunderland though is Coutinho in place of Can and putting Origi or Sturbridge on upfront. Can hasn't exactly shone and I think we need Coutinho a bit deeper to move the ball a bit quicker like Llalana does. Either that or give Grujic a chance.
