Llorente please ed can u tell me how old he is? ? {ed's note - I think he is 25.}

26 Oct 2010 23:45:25

Miereles
i think is a good player
but think 12 million we spend on him was too much when we could and should of got van der faart for 8 , illion instead of tottenham

tottenham only got him because madrid wanted him out on the transfer deadline day cheap to get rid of him

before deadline day i think he was about double that so there was no way we was going to get him then to much.

i was very happy when we got miereles he is a very very good player when he settles in think he will get better got a cracking shoot on him

what do you think ed? ?? ? ?/ {ed's note - I like Meireles, he is getting better by the game.}

The thing is that quite a few players mentioned in the forum (i.e ashely young, ricky van wolfsvinckle, alexis sanchez, fernando llorente, ibrahim afellay) are still quite young, they were produced through a youth system and are now being saught after by top clubs. For example, clubs like , west ham who produced jermaine deffo and drank lampard, produce players and then sell them on to others clubs. Unfortuantly, Liverpool don't give their young players a chance and go after players produced by other clubs. But Liverpool has a great youth system, look at some of the players that did get their chance gerrard, owen, carragher, all great players in their prime. We should at least give are youngsters a chance players like pacheco, mavinga, shevley, darby, Kelly, eccelston, ince (tom that is) etc. If they do well than we won't need to waste our money and if it doesn't than we can buy anyway. Play them in the premier leauge as well ( not all at the same time) they can't do much worse than what Liverpool were playing

26 Oct 2010 22:48:47

For me i think we need to look at up and coming players at reasonable prices
my realistic targets would be
Taiwo (5 million) for left back(strong defender and a cheaper option than the portugese lad.
Jarvis (5-7 million)cheap option with a lot of ability. .natural winger.
Affelly (5-7 million)again should be available at a cheap price because of contract.
for a striker i would obviously love to see benzema, suarez or llorente but realistically i think Carroll (10-15 million) would be a great buy. .i know people will have reservations about his attitude but if you got the right manager who taught how to relese his anger during a game. .for example he is the kinda striker defenders hate. .like kevin davies he likes to leave his mark on the defender! !
one last thing how much would lisandro be worth?
. . . reina. . . . .
kelly. . skrtel. . agger. . taiwo
jarvis/ afelly. .gerrard. .meireles. .cole
. . torres. . . . lisandro/ torres
What ya think ed?
{Editor's note - It would be a massive improvement from the squad we have now}

26 Oct 2010 22:44:36

Not so much of a rumour but a thought. . . Matt Jarvis of Wolves looks like the kind of young english player we should go for, wouldn't break the bank, has potential and we may have a chance of twisting Wolves arm to let him go plus their chairman is a red. . . thoughts?!?

P.S. This is thought based on having watched him play numerous times and not just against the scum tonight

26 Oct 2010 22:43:11

Also, most players want to play for prestigious clubs such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter and (it pains me to say) Man Utd. A club like Liverpool might be a stepping stone for these players.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Liverpool still are a 'prestigious' club, we are not a stepping stone for anybody. Are you Roy Hodgson?

26 Oct 2010 22:35:37

Sorry ED but Park slow? really? I think his pretty quick. Anyway utd aren't selling to us that's for sure.

With Owen looking like he may be off from manure in either jan or the summer do you thin we should have him back? ?

A part of me thinks no, because he went to manure, but another side to me thins he will have a lot to make up to the club and fans and works his socks off and could actually be good for us. .
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
All of me says no!

I would welcome Owen/ Rat back to Anfield as much as i would welcome back H&G

To the person who said this:

26 Oct 2010 19:52:54

Would coentrao come to Liverpool when he plays for the best team in portugal and will soon enough end up at madrid because of mourinho
Why swap champo league for europa
- - - - - - - - - - -

It seems that Real Madrid are buying everyone, Llorente, Sanchez, Coentrao . . . Even though they have world class, top-of-the-range players in all the positions that the 3 named players play.
Load a rubbish of you ask me.

Mourinho has said that Real will not be buying anyone in January as he is happy with his squad and he wants to work on it.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I didn't say he would join in Jan or the summer, but it won't be long before hen does goto Madrid

26 Oct 2010 22:16:38

I hope Roy's not interested in any players. I don't trust him to spend what money we have in January. IF he's still there he'll probably be interested in players like Carlton Cole/ Bobby Zamora
Reo Coker, Titus Bramble etc.

Pelligrini we'll see you in December hopefully?

Hi ed, just wondering if you have heard anything on the manager front?
Who do you expect it to be and when do you think he will be in by?
Cheers
Ellis T
{Editor's note - It will more than likely be RH up untill January}

26 Oct 2010 22:12:02

Thanks for replying Ed, but with Ashley Young being English Villa would want arnd 25 mil for him. .my contacts been telling me a bid of arnd 20-25 would definately land Sanchez. . teams like Inter, Real have lost interest in the player apparently and Manu don't want a winger now, making us now clear favourites for the player. . .hope Roy gets him. . heard anything in this regard Ed?

GTH
{Editor's note - Apart from that we have scouted him, I have not heard anything else}

26 Oct 2010 22:09:38

How about signing ji sung park {ed's note - what for? Forget the fact that he is a United player and if he was any good they would not sell him to us. Let's just look at what he offers, lots of hard work but very little ability, very few goals, no vision, poor crossing, not much pace, not particularly strong in the air. He is a worse version of Dirk Kuyt, no idea why you would even suggest him, sorry.}
LOL. . . I know let's buy Obertan as well. .

"Was going to start a rumour on their site for the laugh. But, can any of you think of one Scumbag utd player that we would target other than Rooney. Just goes to show you there aint any worth taking off them."

I would take:
Evra over Konchesky
Vidic over Soto/ Skrtel
Rafeal over Johnson
Fletcher over Lucas
Nani/ Valencia over Maxi/ Jovanovic/ Kuyt/
Hernandez looks pretty handy
Rooney is one of the few players I wouldn't want at Liverpool. He's disruptive and disloyal.

26 Oct 2010 21:12:04
Gk reina (vds)
rb johnson (o'shea)
cb vidic (carra)
cb agger (ferdinand)
lb evra (konchesky)
rm valencia (kuyt)
cm gerrard (scholes)
cm mereiles (fletcher)
lm cole (nani)
st torres (berbatov)
st rooney (ngog)
thats the team id go for if i were choosing a team with man utd and liverpool players. The ones in brackets are the subs. So 7 of 11 are liverpool players. Nani and fletcher a bit unfair i know, but who really cares. So how are we not above them?!

26 Oct 2010 18:38:57

Was at the game on Sunday. Konchesky was pretty poor throughout and as for Ngog well he was awful. Just when we'd been controlling the game, Ngog comes on, doesn't close down, doesn't challenge in the air, doesn't hold the ball up. Rubbish!
As for Konchesky, well everytime he got the ball particularly in the second half he just booted it, no skill and lost possession too easily.
I'd like to see someone like Coentrao as a left back, lennon/ young/ pandev/ hulk up the left or right and a good solid front man to play alongside Torres. I'd plump for someone like Hazard (if Arsenal don't have first dibs on him) Aguero would be great or even someone like Llorente who's been mentioned once or twice lately.
We still miss Alonso desperately. Would be good to have someone like Banega to compliment Meireles who does look class.

26 Oct 2010 18:14:18

Anyone think Andy Carrol could be a good signing? Big lad, strong, Premiership player. . .would be cheap-ish too.
LFC cannot afford to rebuild (we have been doing it for 20 years! !), so don't need loads of young talent. We have a spine, just need to splash out and get 2/ 3 truly world class players for immediate success.
Benzema, Alexis Sanchez and Hulk

Can't see utd being able to afford reina , if arsenal offered 20 million last summer without his contract extension now he signed it which is six years then he worth about 40 million uunless Rooney, s new deal was just to increase sale on fee in summer

26 Oct 2010 18:10:03

Please people stop linking us with carroll, ed am i right in saying we would have to buy nolan aswell due to the court order. and that's not even taking into consideration he is no better than carlton cole.

26 Oct 2010 18:03:09

I think we need to sign 3 players in the jan window and recall 2 from loan which will see our team be as good as any in the league, which are Mata , Navas and Llorente and recall Aquilani and Insua. With these players coming in i would try and sell Babel , Poulsen , Kyrgiakos , Lucas and Degan. Our team would then look like this:
4-3-3:
- - - - - - - Reina- - - - - - - - -
(Jones)
Johnson Skrtel Agger Insua
(Kelly) (Ayala) (Wilson) (Konchesky)

Mereiles Gerrard Aquilani
(Shelvey) (spearing) (Lucas)

Navas Torres Mata
(Maxi) (Llorente) (Cole)

In reserve we would also have:
Aurelio , Carragher , Darby , N'Gog , Amoo , Eccleston , Jovanovic , Pacheco , Kuyt and Ince.

What do people make of this thot?
What you reckon ed? {ed's note - I am not convinced Aqualani has the physical attributes required to be a success in the Prem and Insua can't stay out of MacDonalds long enough to be worthy of a chance.}

I think i looks like a great team. Get a new, strong LB and reconsider Skrtel, and it's all good. It's true aqua may not be great phisycally, but he could improve there as others has done before him. I think aqua is very underrated.

I hear rumours about manuel pellegrini being favourite for the liverpool job and apperently we have made contact? dunno what to make of it , because i imagine his english is very poor and won't be able to get his tactics and intructions to the players properly. i also i hear about frank rijkard as one of the favourites as well , dunno wat the rest of the fans think about having an english/ british manager? Cause manuel pellegrini certainly won't be no bill shankly.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I remember on Sky Sports Revista Da La Liga last year Guillem Balague said Pelligrini does speak fairly good English, but might need a little work i.e like Rafa in summer 2004 then. Many people in Chile are able to speak English well because Santiago the capital is very cosmopolitan. {ed's note - Rafa always spoke good English, he was popular amongst his team mates, as a player, because he would translate for them when they were chatting up British tourists.}
- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I agree with you on rafa ed. He English was very good. I was just pointing out that he was sometimes baffled by some of the peculiarities of the English language and 'English football speak' in pre and post match interviews in his early Liverpool days.

26 Oct 2010 17:41:51

I concur with the calls for kevin davies to be considered despite his age (33 i think). while watching the mancs at the weekend it reminded me of liverpool of old. easy simple football. we don't need millions spent on overpriced players but we do need real quality and a manager with a system that works. the best players arnt always the most expensive. lets build our club from the ground up again!

IS IT TRUE REINA IS LEAVING FOR MAN U IN JAN I WILL BE HEART BROKEN

Grow up
Reina leaving. Won't happen. Signed new contract with the cowboys still in charge, do you think he'll leave now with the new investors NESV. Do you also think they would let him go to the scum, there on a PR mission at the moment and it would be a PR disaster.
New investment = a new squad

26 Oct 2010 17:36:00

Oh my word is it true hopeless hodgson is in for carlton cole again?
i would rather have donkey davies than him

also i see alot on here about coentrao and sanchez are these jus wishlists or have we bin linked with them as they both are awesome, an if we hav bin linked what are the cahnces of the coming to liverpool?

ed what dya reckon mate ?
{Editor's note - I know Sanchez has been scouted, though I think Coentrao is on people's wish lists}

I hope pepe reina will stay at liverpool for the rest of his career the daily mirror like to make things up quite a lot i hate that paper

26 Oct 2010 17:26:09

Personally I don't think we will be buying more than 4 new players in January and 2 of those may be replacements for players sold/ gone on loan in January.

If Roy's still in charge (I hope he's not) then I would expect a left midfielder/ winger and a striker + a replacement for maybe Babel (no jokes please) who I think will be leaving.

Remember Roy said the club had too many players in the summer.

If it's a new manager then it's a different ball game as they may want the owners to agree a transfer kitty larger than what they planned.

Personally I think theres a lot of dross in the team (some of this is Rafa's fault and some Roy's for certain players he's brought in). But we are not going to get rid of it in one transfer window so don't expect 5 players sold and 5 replaced.

I'd rather have 2 x £12m players (remember City have said they won't be spending much in the transfer window so if people are willing to sell the proices should be a little lower) and a couple of players going out of contract signed cheaply to improve the team (in that I mean offer something different to what we have now not just additional numbers) that 1 player for £30m who could get injured and then there is no benefit to the team.

In the mean time I hope we're out of the relegation zone shortly and then it would give a new manager time to adjust/ implement their ideas prior to next season.

26 Oct 2010 15:34:18

Yeah can anyone answer this please? I would like to see Insua back on the left instead of Konchesky and Aquilani in for Poulsen, at least until Jan

I personally don't want to see imsua again, not unless he suddenly gained a shed load of pace. He was caught out to much last season and teams targeted him as a weak point in our side, I know hes young and may become a better player, but we can't afford to have in our first team at the moment. Im not saying Konchesky is the answer, I would prefer someone else (Santon from Inter would be good especially if rafa has his heart set on signing Lucas). I would also like to see more of Mavinga, I haven;t seen a great deal of him but people that have say he has a great dealm about him and deserves a place in first team squad despite his age.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Mate seriously? Why on earth would you want Insua back when he was p*ss poor? We were playing Aurelio at LM to give him cover because he was being exposed most games, so no, not at all. Fair enough the kid was lacking experience, and if you look at it in the cold light of day, he was lacking in quality too. Konchesky was bought on the cheap in a transfer window when we were strapped, by his previous manager who he was pretty reliable for so I can understand why he's here. Not all that bad bad, but to be brutal, not LFC starting 11 standard. Give the kid a break though! He's doing a job to the best of his ability.

26 Oct 2010 17:14:31

Well let's sort something out,

Take an ordinary/ average player and put him into a Liverpool team with some quality players and the end result - "he definitely looks good".

Now take that same player and let him have the backing of the supporters and you will see him playing even better purely because he realizes who he is playing for and why. (he is playing for you and for your passion).

So guys i guess we need to point the finger at ourselves first, if we were in the same position then would we want to be given a fair chance, at playing or managing.

We need to support "Passionately" as always.
We need to have "Patience".
We need to "Believe".

Cheer Lucas on, support him and he will only get better and better, even better than Alonso.
Get behind Torres and we will get a 20+ goals per season man.

I have watched Liverpool play many, many times and against all odds we were victorious.

Why?

"SIMPLY YOUR SUPPORT" and nothing else.

Do you want to see Liverpool raise their game, get behind them and you will believe.

Try it for the next match and see what happens.
If you get the believe back as the supporter so will the team and management.

Shezypool

Thank you for the reminder. Will encourage the team positively In future.

Im going on alot of pages on this page and giving your permierlague team the truth.

liverpool need to rebuild THERE hole squad if there to be were they were 3 years ago.
glenn johnson can NOT defend to save his life he is a let down to liverpool and a let down for england who should be replaced by michas richards. who in actual fact is a beter defender and ATTACKER then johnson.

poulson was the worst possible signing hodgsen could have ever done.
i am soooo glad tottenham never signed cole. benneyoun is a much better technicall player who is undoutidly underated.
kuyt has transformed from a striker to right wing?? ?? ?? . . bable is your best wide attacking midfielder.

liverpool need a right back, left back central defender, right midfielder central and a striker like i said they need to re-build. and still even with new owners hodgson wil be sacked and the next manager will not be any different becuase the fact is they need to re build like newcastle did.

On the Managerial situation. . Roy clearly not the man in anybody's eyes so what are the alternatives. . For me the only man i've wanted for the past few years is Mourinho. .I think we had a chance once but the owner situation put him off. .He would have loved to get one over on chelsea and knock ferguson of his perch. and makes no secret of the fact he admires the club and the fans. This won't happen unless we re establish ourselves as future contenders. .Frank Rijkard or Manuel Pellagrino are defo the best suited and my front runners. . But for all you bootroom reds how about this senario. .King kenny has been out of management for years and that seems to be what is putting people off him. .In which i agree also. .What is not in question would be the ability he would have to attract players to the club and the respect he would command from the current squad. .
What about appointing him with a strong number two who is young, not long out the game, possible future manager potential, great knowledge of the game. . and a red through and through. . Step forward Jamie Redknapp. .By far the best pundit on sky sports. .Does he have his coaching badges? . .I think he would make a great manager. he will have learned a lot from his dad. Just a thought ED What do you think?
{Editor's note - It seems likely that Mourinho wants to take over from SAF.}

Hi. .i think everyone is talking about getting more than 3 players in january. .tho I wud also fancy that, but i don't think it is realistic. .
a striker, a winger n LB wud be great IMO.
Maybe, for striker, Honda (around 10-12m) or Llorente(15m)
for LB- Taiwo (5m- out of contract come summer)
and Mata (15m). . wud luv to get Alexis Sanchez but the price is high.

thots ed. ?

Important announcement.Yours truly spent this weekend in Cambodia, and whislt there, consulted with my seer to talk about Liverpool.This is what he predicted:

1.Hodgson gets fired 48 hours after Bolton lose
2.Senor Manuel Pellegrini is appointed
3.By January 01 Liverpool are 5th in the league
4.In January transfer window Sanchez, Forlan and Coentrao join, as Konchokisy, Babell are sent out on loan to Blackpool and Atletico de Madrid, respectively.

In the summer, Polson, the Greek bloke, Maximilliano, Leiva, Alberto, Emiliano, Babell, the bald bloke I mentioned earlier will all be got rid of.Coming in will be Ever Banega, Afellay, Wickham, and Ayala, back from Hull.
And we'll finish third, with only two points separating us with that club from the red side of Manchester, who'll be fourth.
They'll play a qualifier against Basel, which they'll lose.
I hope that settles any nerves and misgivings about us not making the top 4.
God bless

I must be watching different football matches to those of you who advocate bringing Insua back to LFC.

I think he is a truly terrible defender. In the recent past we've had some shockers passing themselves off as defenders and he is one of them. His idea of defending was to stick his right arm out as the oppostion player ran past him. .every fecking time.

OK he never had decent cover in front of him but a defender should, first and foremost, be able to defend.

If Insua is the answer then we are well and truly fcuked.

Frenchy.

26 Oct 2010 16:28:24

Hodgson does like Andy Carroll! It wouldn't surprise me if an 8/ 10million bid happens January. He's young, English, comands the area, great head, vision, won't be bullied, can score goals, ease pressure from Torres, he can hold the ball. Loads in his locker. His bad boy ways arnt Liverpool way but then all boys mature at one time. I think this my well be a good move

26 Oct 2010 16:18:39

I don't want to sound weird but NESV probably want players that sell shirts- this is not just nationality but Roy will be told that he will have to buy some good looking players, as the likes of Konchesky, Skrtel and Dirk Kuyt are not particularly marketable!. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .to the muppit who wrote this are you mad? or just from Manchester? go fill ya sink up, dive in do a few laps n give ya head a wobble nesv are wanting to build a winning football team not a modeling agency who cares if they ain't got gel in there hair fix up ya makin us fans look stupid YNWA

"Woy" just been done for speeding

3 points is 3 points!

26 Oct 2010 16:13:01

{ed's note - I think you are the delusional one, Kyrgiakos is a terrible defender, he should be stopping the opposition scoring first and foremost and he is completely incapable of doing so.}

correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't carragher foul first and defend second?? I love Carra as he's one of our own (a scouser, like myself!), but don't knock the Greek, he is a presence in the opposition box and hasn't done too bad since he came, a bit like Sammi in his later days, and for what he cost I'd keep him!

On the subject of another of our "s* te" players. .Lucas, another who when he is played in the correct position and allowed to get forward, looks a decent player for us - I'd play Stevie deep now, to pick out runs and passes and have lucas and meireles making runs to support Nando and Cole. As for Ngog - top scorer so far, is looking bigger and stronger and when he has come on, he's occupied defenders and freed up space for Nando, problem is that it has happened too late in the games he has come on in - deffo wouldn't get rid of these 3 - start with the crap like Maxi, Konchesky and Johnson - for me the Lucas, Ngog and the Greek are honest enough to warrant the red shirt, the last 3 are only hee for the money!

Carra or Johnson? I mean Kelly is a CB and as we've all noticed Carra is on his way out. Glen in a fully functional attacking Liverpool team with Kelly next to him sounds better than Kelly at RB and Carra at CB. Simple. Yes it sounds good to say that Johnson will be better at RM, and maybe true BUT putting him there means we lose an an extra attacking threat that works well in top team. I'm not sure how much of a better defender Kelly really is, the lad is very very good, but we as fans mark him on a different score sheet to Johnson, after all Kelly's a youngster so most of us are less critical of his downfalls citing that he's only young he'll get better. Glen v Blackburn would have been a riot Kelly v Blackburn although good wouldn't have been much different to Carra. All I'm saying is put Kelly at CB Carra on the bench Johnson at RB with a good quality RW in Jan. Simples.

Ed, do you think theres a chance of Fabio Coentrao transferring to Liverpool?
{Editor's note - If we get the cash to sign him, he would sign for the club}

I don't want to sound weird but NESV probably want players that sell shirts- this is not just nationality but Roy will be told that he will have to buy some good looking players, as the likes of Konchesky, Skrtel and Dirk Kuyt are not particularly marketable!

On the subject what is the ugly Liverpool XI over the last 10 years say?"

Never underestimate the power of the bald pound. Konchesky and Shelvey were bought for a reason.

Look Ed we are all singing off the same hymn sheet here i just don't like all the talk on this site at the moment its completly negitave like roys tatics. As fans of a football club especialy liverpool we shouldnt be putting up our worst teams we should be supporting the one whe have. It makes us look as though there arnt more pressing matters to discuss. Correct me if im wrong but wasnt this an issue brought up by a previous ed who completely agreed that this site isn't designed for this kind of talk. Sorry if i offended you in any way as i have great respect for the Eds on the site just letting off steam. {ed's note - it is just a bit of fun to lighten the mood, the site wasn't designed for it but it makes a nice change from talking about how bad Poulsen is or how we don't give the young players a chance.}

You guys make me laugh! The Greek has been our best player for 2 week, yet so many are naming Johnson as right back when he has been very poor all season as a defender. This team gives us more width and also doubles up at defensive cover too especially down the right.
I would go for this side against Bolton which is tough and sensible and going with players in form:
Reina
Carra The Greek Skrtel Konchsky
Meireles Lucas
Johnson Gerrard Cole
Torres

12 mill reina. 20 alonzo. What the he'll is going on. Alonzo should have been in the 30 mill zone. AND rein should easily be in the 35/ 40 mark as he has long contract still. Even if he is just a keeper. He is best in world to be.

Hi everybody,

I'd just like to ask you all to stop putting Kevin Davies on your wishlists. It's just embarassing. They guy only has about left of his career (he 33), he's a very, very average striker and by the sound of it you've all resigned yourself to the idea that we'll finish in the bottom half, cos that's the type of striker Kevin Davies is.

I know there's a big difference, but a few years back in my schoolboy league (under 17s) my team was second from bottom at Christmas, in the new year we got a few extra players who wanted to play for us and we finished 3rd overall. We'd played 34 games, so the only big difference from the EPL was the salaries, it's entirely possible we could get 4th this year, we just need self-belief in the squad and optimistic fans.

26 Oct 2010 13:01:31
Does the 1st team have specific defence, winger and striker coaches? I remember we had a goal keeping coach under Rafa who helped Reina come on amazingly year upon year and also consulted Torres before every game on the opposition keeper's strengths and more importantly their weaknesses.

Is it now only Sammy and Roy that coach the squad? From what I have read and seen on the pitch it appears the team in training concentrate mainly on keeping the two banks of 4, their shape and possession in their own half although recently they have focused on getting the ball forward quicker and crosses into the box.

I strongly believe the defence, wingers and Nando / Ngog would benefit from EXTRA coaching, and that the owners should consider appointing Thommo, Barnes, Aldridge / Rush as consultants to undertake additional specific training sessions with the aim of improving our weaker areas (defensive communication, forward movement / passing / timing, crossing, aggression etc).

Perhaps Sammy and Roy do cover these areas but I think some advice / extra work from these experienced specialists would not only increase moral but could strengthen the overall style of play and give the players some much needed confidence and belief in their own abilities.

I appreciate Roy will have his own ideas and 'too many cooks…. etc' but I don't see how sessions with these respected legends of the game would do any harm, quite the opposite in fact! Does anyone else agree?

I personally thought that the performance against Blackburn was highly promising. A little bit more composure in the final third and we could have been out of site. This is all very well but we can not get too excited as let us not forget that Blackburn are only above us on goal difference. . we should be spanking these teams. Bolton will be a much tougher test and a clearer indication as to whether or not the team is starting to gel.

Wholesale changes in January will not help this and I think we only need to tweak the team.

GK: Sorted
RB: Johnson can be great - If confidence rises expect him to be much better
CB: Carra is a legend - Again just needs a confidence boost
CB: Soto - showed how good he can be and added a great option from set pieces
LB: Konchesky - still unsure of him but I think he should be give until the summer
RM: Kuyt/ Maxi - Kuyt is a striker and doesn't have the crossing ability needed but Maxi showed some real promise against Blackburn
DM: Meireles - Improving with each game. Could prove a great buy
(A)CM: Gerrard - need I say more?
(A)CM: Cole - Once he fully clicks with Stevie & Nando I think it will be great to watch
LM: Jova - not Liverpool quality
CF: Nando - Starting to get back to his best

What we need in January is a real quality left winger, a right winger to fight it out with Maxi and a proven goalscorer as cover for Torres.

If we get 2 good wide players who can deliver a good ball into the box then we will create twice as many chances. A second quality striker will allow Nando a rest if needed/ injured and will also give us the option to play 2 upfront when needed.

"Matthew peter Elliott (Liverpool fan) says. .
I must say as a fan I am absolutely delighted with the result yesterday. Poor Roy is doing a fantastic job and isn''''t getting the recognition he deserves because the results haven''''t quite gone his way. He is a great and I''''m sure in a few years everyone will be in complete agreement with me. You only need to look at what he achieved over many decades, he¿s been successful in pretty much of Scandinavia, Inter have offered him a job many times and he¿s always on those really important panels. I was so angered as a fan when we got rid of Souness he had the unenviable task of rebuilding much the same as Hodgson and I will be gutted if they got rid of Hodgson too. The man deserves credit for the way he plays the game, all out attack isn''''t football, it¿s a patient game. I also cite the problems we''''ve had by not being able to get targets such as Zamora and Luke Young, both of them are proven match winners, and Roy can spot a great player when he wants, Poulsen was an absolute bargain, and finally we have a left back who is fantastic going forward and defending ¿ he¿s a cert to get in the England team now. The way I see it we now have 29 cup finals and at the end of that we will have won the league. I had no time for Rafa all he did was buy overrated players such as Alonso, money grabbers such as Mascherano and sulkers like Torres, not mentioning the amount of mistakes Reina makes,

After Fergie publicly stated he wouldn't sell any player to Liverpool during the heinze affair. Rafiel Benitez then said we'd never ever sell a Liverpool player to united.
Problem is Fergies mate Hodgson is now in charge, so when I read United after Reina then I roll my eyes in disgust and it's all just paper talk because Hodgson WOULD sell to United

26 Oct 2010 11:54:10

To the guy who posted this team

Reina
Johnson
Agger
Skrtel
Taiwo

Meireles
Gerrard
Banaga

Sanchez
Torres
Mata

If only mate! I dream if a team like this and if it came true I think the majority of us would be very pleased. I like the way you think! Sadly I don't think this will ever happen.

that was me, it is a nice team right, but could be realistic i suppose

Sanchez = 20 million
Mata = 20 million
Banaga = 15 million
Taiwo = free

Sell:
Babel = 8 million
Soto = 3 million
Aquilani = 13 million
Insua = 7 million
El Zhar = 2 million

55 million for those four players, 33 million to sell those 5, 3 aren't currently in the squad so they won't be missed, Soto; everyone says he's on top form, no he can head a ball at goal, his defending sucks and he is a CB. Babel was the biggest waste of 10 million ever and if we could sell for 8 million it won't seem like such a loss. Plus valencia need to sell to repay 300 million of debt so Mata and Banaga could be got cheap if we offer cash. He has played 2 matches this season for valencia so he must want first team football.

So the Mirror is reporting that Sir kn@b head wants to purchase Reina, and he's willing to pay us £12M.
Two things:
1. Of course he would like to sign him, Is there any team in the world who wouldn't want Reina between the sticks. He is for me, by far the best keeper in the world (only because he doesn't play for Real is he not in the Spanish team).
2. £12m? You couldn't buy his finger nail clippings for £12m. Why not go the whole hog and make a double £15M swoop for Reina and Torres.

Roy should announce that he wants to sign Berbatov and that he's willing to pay £3.50 for him!

(I would focus on players under 25 who could give us at least 5 years service and/ or potentially be sold for a profit)

Hulk (Age 24, Porto, to play alongside Fernando and take some of the physical burden away from him.)

Turan (Age 23, Galatasaray, can play on both wings and has pace and skill plus a desire to play for us)

Honda (Age 24, CSKA Moscow, very versatile, hard working and a free kick specialist with the added bonus of being a good commercial asset.)

Banega (Age 22, Valencia, a blend of Alonso and Masch, mobile, great passer and tackler, could play "Quarterback" in front of the back four.)

Obviously Aguero goes without saying, but if I'm honest that would be wishful thinking at the moment.

I think we could get these four *plucks figure out of thin air* for perhaps £50 Million, so £25 Million from player sales + £25 Million from the owners.

Remember in the late 80's when we bought Barnes, Beardsley and Aldridge in at the same time and it was the catalyst for some of the greatest football ever seen at Liverpool? With 3 or 4 intelligent acquisitions, I truly believe we would be up challenging, where we belong.
