great win tonight guys. didnt see as i was working but after reading down a bit i feel like i have lol, everyone seems to be singing from the same hymn sheet as regards how the game panned out so cheers. quick question, how many goals has suarez got now in all comps? SCAFACE

7 goals this season

7 goals so far, I believe

cozinoz {Ed009's Note - Thats correct.}

Great performance tonight. Suarez showed why he is one of the top 5 best players in the world (contrary to some bizarre posts further down the page!) Carroll looked very impressive, Henderson was a constant threat and provided some delicious crosses and Coates was brilliant aside from his mistake for their goal - calm and dominant aerially in the face of Stoke's usually imposing target men and assured when playing it along the ground, more so when Skrtel came on for Carragher. Should have had a penalty too.

Can't wait for West Brom on Saturday!

Late back from work tonight fellas, so only had the radio to go by, very pleased with the result.
I see a lot of positive feedback on Coates tonight, can any of you that saw the game wax lyrical on his 'impressive' display?

The Booter

Hi mate thought i would help you out.Coates was his mistake that lead to the goal.but after that he seem to learn from it and was pretty good.To be honest him and agger and skrtel dealt with all the balls in the box.But he looks like a powerful no-nonsense defender who i think will work well alongside agger.Considering the huge change he has made from moving countries for such a young lad he can only go from strength to strength.

Danny

Thank you Danny. How did the defence cope against, what I assume was, the aerial bombardment?

The Booter

'booter'
no real issues as such mate, agger was very composed as was kelly. Coates was a tank in my opinion, won plenty of balls on the floor as well as in the air, some fine distribution as well, i think he is gonna be some palyer. Spearing was tidy with lucas, maxi was intelligent with his running and link up with suarez. carroll worked hard and small signs of a partnership with suarez are forming. Henderson got involved and his cross to suarez was a worldie, an absolute peach. overall a v good performance with plenty of positives, any win away at stoke is a goodun in my books

Just read down a few posts and what's all this Suarez carp the lad is class our only problem could be keepin hold of him if barca show an interest don't even rise to these posts redmen

Kopman

Coz ngong is better then suarez

26 Oct 2011 22:54:57
i dont think we should sign de jong as he isn't good enough for liverpool...we should aim for a top quality striker this summer, we wont get higuain but i think €30 million would get us benzema who's a goalscorer and would be the perfect partner for suarez...wat do you think ?

I think it would be more likely to get Higuain than Benzema, but mate, De Jong is a top quality striker.

26 Oct 2011 22:49:59
Well gotta say i was fairly impressed with that performance, Carroll looked half decent today wish people would give him a chance though as he has to adapt his game to ours which will take time. suarez, well he was fanny bloody tastic, Coates looked good. Was a second string really if at least 8 of the first elevn weren't playing so plenty of strength in depth there(unlike last year). so overall good performance

Just have to work hard week and week out not only one game and am sure will be fine

26 Oct 2011 22:34:32
thought spearing played well tonight,i like this lad just wish he was a few inchs taller so he could conpete in the air,coates looks really good very comfortable on the ball,agger was class and got forward well,suarez shut some people up 2 great goals,not bad for a lad that cant finish lol :)! henderson showed hes got great potential,hes cross for the 2nd was class,not easy to direct a ball like that and hes allround play seemed more positive! i hope we win this cup,get euro football in the bag by feb,then we can relax push on for top 4!

Fair enough Dave the Butcher. Just nameless ones get my goat more then a name at the end. I know its a team game but seeing how so many haters have come out for Luis today i find shocking to be honest. Like i said confidence is massive in a strikers finishing re of ability on the ball. I sure this will give Luis the confidence he seemed to have been missing in front of goal. I think Reina is lacking in the same department, you dont become a bad keeper overnight, hope its a short sharp blip he's going through. The amount of clean sheets he's had for us even until the Fulham game at the back end of the season he was in with a shout of the clean sheet award whatever its called and saved us enough times. Much respect Dave the Butcher hope to read some more from you, we all have opinions and this aint aimed at you but posters continually rippin one player or another is just plain wrong. We always look at the negatives and never the positives of what someone brings to the team. Jonson6

No problem mate. I agree, confidence is a massive factor in things. There has been a lot of haters, but i suppose that is always going to happen. Lets hope he is the sort of lad that thrives on it! I got Suarez 7 on my shirt so I'm sure my mates will let me know if he isn't! But overall very happy with tonight- we went 1-0 down with longer to play than when we met in the league and ending up winning 2-1, so despite the recent negatives (myself included!), there is positives.

"How Simplistic you make things

Lighten up FFS one goal isn't a harvest

Suarez is not good enough and his antics are bad for the club, being involved in unsavory incidents, diving, etc.

Smithy"

Sorry pal but you are either not a Liverpool fan or a complete knob... Suarez is a gem and has so far done nothing wrong IMO...
Get behind them or go and support man citeh, they'll buy whoever you want them to

Myk

Your standard of Morals must be very low if in your opinion he's done nothing wrong!

every lfc fan i know loves suarez

Smithy, which team do you support, cause its clearly not LFC.
Your post is nonsense mate!.

Morals? Since when has morals been in football recently, if ever! In the 70's players would kick the s*it out of other players, was that moral? Is it moral to sign for a club knowing you'll see little match action yet earn £200k a week?

Seriously, we should give up answering some posts, they are just set up to rile and they are succedding.

They are not meant to Rile merely put forward another view

Suarez does not set a good example

If you have no morals you have anerchy

You want a world where anything goes that's a very high price to play

Do you want kids to learn that cheating is to be rewarded

Carra is a model profession, tough, of limited fotball ability but honest always gives his best sometimes not very often he comes up short

However often he is vilified for nothing

We live in a world where in the end Karma will eventually catch up with people for their deeds

Keep your suarez, theres more than me posting about him and the rotten part of him can't you see that!

26 Oct 2011 22:23:15
Eds hope Suarez was just taken off for cramp and he is not injured? King kenny didnt mention anything in his interview so hope not too bad.

Might reds {Ed001's Note - we wouldn't know for sure until tomorrow anyway mate, if it is an injury.}

Suarez seemed to be getting around fine after the game - having a laugh with Kenny - that was nice to see. Fingers crossed eh?

LIVERPRES

26 Oct 2011 22:18:25
David Silva and Luis Suarez are easily the best 2 players in the PL, imagine the destruction they would both do playing together x

With man city you prob will see it next season!

swedish adam

Thats good, please buy suarez Mr. Sheik

No way will suarez move to citeh. N why wud citeh waste another 50 million on a striker when they already have ballotelli, kun n dzeko. If they did, they id be pretty stupid.
PS: personally i wud never sell suarez, wud love to see him end his career with us only.

Indian Buzzer

26 Oct 2011 22:17:39
Clever move by Kenny to narrow the play tonight without wingers, counteracted Stoke's policy of narrowing their pitch while playing teams like us

KK is a tactical master, what a smart move indeed. I am sure all those folks who have criticised him on here, are feeling a little silly!.

26 Oct 2011 22:13:39
hi eds and reds delighted with the win.Great for every one.nice to see Coates play I thought he was very good eventhough the mistake.great goal form luis.I usually respect HERBIE for his honestly but he was wrong saying suarez can't shoot/finish.excellent strike.does anyone know when the draw for the next round is? cheers

Danny

The draw is on soccer saturday , this weekend.
Prob get one of the manc teams away.

LAVERS

Yeah probs will mate.Bit there aren't really any easy teams at this stage.thanks for the reply

danny

Danny!. You can't believe what a Manc supporter says about Suarez, because it just vicious jealousy.

26 Oct 2011 22:05:31
Great result! the team played well and some really individual performances. Did anyone notice that once Coates made his mistake he instantly learned from that and was much more aggressive and cleared the ball much more quickly. I think that experience will have definately taught him something. He looks like a top notch centre back.

WillLFC

I agree he seems to have it all,didnt let the mistake effect him,just got on with it,very comfortable on the ball and reads game well for his age!

26 Oct 2011 21:59:17
I'm telling ya thats whats Luis needed. Watch em fly in from edge of box to 5 yards out. Confidence is massive in strikers in front of goal and theirs no doubt he was suffering from a severe lack of it not a poor finisher like some have made out. Like i said check his goal record out for Uraguay. You dont score 7 goals in big tourneys if you cant finish end of. For all his great play them 2 goals will get us rolling over teams. Watch, its gonna be a fun few games coming up. Lets stop the bitching, done it myself enough and start supporting this great team of ours. Great result against a very tough team at home. Great test for Coates who seemed to have come through well after his error or is their gonna be a Coates out campaign now. Nowt would suprise me with some posters. Jonson6

Completely agree with you pal , most games this season we have been the better team.
Norwich on Saturday was it 29 shots on Target.
The whole team lacks confidence , it showed on Saturday norwich got the equalizer and the players arses started twitching.
A couple more results like today and hopefully we will be off.

LAVERS

26 Oct 2011 21:57:43
I always say i'd take any kind of a win.

But to come from behind at Stoke is extra sweet.

We've not won there since what, 2001?

Sweet.

And Coates could really be a terrific CB in a year or 2.

Yay! We won!:-)

Kian

Agreed, not many teams score two goals against stoke away. Coates made one mistake but overall had a good game -McMenemy

I thought we had never won at the Brittania? {Ed009's Note - They hadn't won at the Britannia on four occasions prior to today.}

Ed I think the last time we won at the brittania was 2000 8-0 but I don't think we have ever won in the Prem there. I can't remember when stoke moved from the City ground.

26 Oct 2011 21:55:55
So all you Suarez haters would rather he left? Prefer N'gog? Hmm..don't think so..

maka

No to Ngog yes to Suarez leaving get Someone better Like Shrek {Ed009's Note - You've disguised the enormous Red Devil on your chest really well.}

26 Oct 2011 21:54:10
At half time it was looking like i was going to have call for kenny's head, and relagation was on the cards.
But now the titles in the bag infact we are going to do the treble. We dont need to buy in Jan, although at half time it looked like needed a new CB, LM, CF, GK and manager.
All the best.

26 Oct 2011 21:44:38
Ed what were we like tonight didn't get to see the game? Why was carra taken off so early? {Ed001's Note - we were the better side, deserved the win and Carra was just taken off, I would say tactical but it could have been just to rest him.}

Is it true Suarez limped off ed?

Red Ollie {Ed001's Note - looked to be limping on my feed, yes.}

Maybe Kenny brought Carragher off, because he was on a yellow card. I hope so, I hope it's not an injury.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Red Ollie - Suarez seemed to be laughing and joking on the bench so don't think it is too serious - think he may have been 'running the clock down' by slowly limping off.

JRG

Well blair i hope he is injured and because he is a liability and we are better off without him.

We? {Ed001's Note - if you are an Arsenal, Tottenham or Newcastle fan, then we would be the correct terminology to use. They would be much better off if Liverpool didn't have Suarez ;o)}

Hope Same as rooney injured coz united are better without him atleast getting draw like anfield then getting trashed at etihad

26 Oct 2011 21:49:29
Brilliant display of character today, brilliant from Suarez as well, but we shouldn't let this mask our problems. We need to tighten up at the back and put our chances away earlier

Red Ollie

Good flowing football at times. Great result and very positive show of character. Defence played much better without Carra. Perhaps a sign of things to come. Great servant Carra but he's not the same Carra we know.

26 Oct 2011 21:49:12
great experience for Coates.

Saw the last 20 mins and he looked like a seasoned pro

26 Oct 2011 21:48:53
To all you unnamed haters and moaners who can't wait to come on here and slag-off the players and management at the first sight of a bad performance or result whether it's Henderson or Suarez or Dalglish or Carroll or any other person person who represents our club. Who can't wait to get on players backs and say 'we should of brought....". Who says that they hope we lose to prove a point and that we're not good enough and criticise those that continue to support the players.

That is why we support our players and management! That is why we encourage and defend them. look what they can achieve when they have the fans backing! 2-1 away to Stoke after going a goal down - who'd have thought that a few weeks or months ago? I don't expect Stoke have lost at home after going a goal up for a long time! C'mon!!

JRG

Great shout JRG mate and most of them who slag off dont have the balls to sign their name.

REDGAZ

Well said JRG and REDGAZ.
seems like no-one is immune from flack off these morons. hope they're all choking on their "suarez can't finish" comments but i'm sure the'll find something else to gripe over. keep smiling boys...:)
bring on woy and west bwom.

26 Oct 2011 21:48:34
How much more secure was our team with Carra off?! On other note can't help but feel this victory is massive in the context of this season. Brilliant result, Stoke away!

Jatt YNWA

Don't dare come on here slagging Jamie & then sticking YNWA after your name Jatt.

He's not slagging him, just stating the facts. we were much more solid after he went off

^^ Thanks for the support mate, and to the other poster, maybe i am being a little harsh to a guy who has bled for our club but he has been past his best for at least 2 seasons, i always try to get behind our lads but if they are playing to the detriment to our team on a constant basis over a long period i like any other fan like to point it out. Let me ask you did our team look more solid after Carra was taken off? I think the goals scored and stats will prove my point....

Jatt YNWA

p.s. I will put YNWA or any abbreviation i wish to at any point that i want unless your the great Shanks risin from the dead, then i might have to consider your request Mr. Keyboard Warrior.

Jatt slag who you want mate but don't degrade the great man's name doing so he would be turning in his grave if he could see half of these post's .k96 .

What are you on about 'k96'?

Jatt YNWA

" unless your the great shank's risin from the dead " no one could ever be the great shank's jatt , that's why he's great there's only 1 shank's , not looking for an argument lad know your a regular poster just didn't like that post .k96 .

I think your misunderstanding the point mate, i wasn't offending the great man, i was prasing him.

My point was that the keyboard warrior said that i shouldn't use YNWA because i slated Carra's position in the team, and i was simply saying i can put YNWA or anything i want in front of my name and unless 'he was the great Shanks risen from the dead' then i would consider taking YNWA out of my name.

So i don't understand how that 'degrades' the great mans name?

p.s. Has the whole world become politically correct?

Jatt YNWA

Jatt ok lad I must of misunderstood , no problem .

P.s. Am a scouser mate my world could never be politically correct . K96 .

No problem mate and LOL.

Jatt YNWA

What a great win. I said at half time we could turn it around. I believe the people on here criticising suarez finishing are a bit quiet tonight.

I am just over the moon to win at the britannia. One of the most difficult places to go in England. And how nice is it to win from a losing position. Just shows that they are fighting for king kenny.

Mighty reds

26 Oct 2011 21:47:38
Thank God! Any win at stoke is a great win. If you have any complaints about that you deserve a kick in the nuts. We beat stoke at their own game i think. Great win and all the players gave 110% today. Just one thing. Luis cant score a tap in to save his life but he can do that? Brilliant!
Capetownred

26 Oct 2011 21:47:32
I am truely elated at that result. Don't care what its in that was a good win there for us.

Spriggo

26 Oct 2011 21:44:16
yes great win away to a very strong stoke.we played better without carrgher.coates looks really good.agger played well at lb.maxi was poor but my god suarez wow and he kissed the badge.i just love seeing that and kennys reaction when we score and win.DORSET RED

Kenny looks like he is drunk when we score lol..

Suarez both goals were wrold class. Happy also for Coates who looked composed after that cock-up that led to Stoke goal. Overall a deserved win. Agger, Spearing played really well. And Henderson cross for Suarez for second goal was fantastic. Carroll so so but he put in a good shift.

26 Oct 2011 21:43:28
Reina is a bit dodgy these days. im sure its just form but hes not at 100% thats for sure.

One of Reina's biggest attributes is his distribution from out of hand but he seems really out of sorts at the minute.

JRG

Great win at a place we generally struggle and especially as we were losing. Hope this can shut up all the moaners. Thought Carroll looked sharp. get in Suarez what a player

not a great performance but a bloody great win. just what the doctor ordered.should lift the team .

26 Oct 2011 21:42:01
I know Suarez will get all the plaudits, but my MOTM was Coates. I know the kid made a mistake for their goal, but he had a fantastic game.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Thought it was Skrtel tbh Blair, thought he really helped against their constant Long balls.

Jatt YNWA

Agger for me, man how we have missed his composure. Carroll played well for me too, nowhere near motm but strong confident play and linked well with the attacking players.

Papa G

I completely agree, Blair. Definitely MOTM. As I said earlier, he didn't let his head drop after the mistake. Put in countless challenges, both on the ground and in the air. The boy's got a lot of character.

Stedz 11

Motm for me was Coates great passing and defending bar the small blip, Carroll for the first time looked like part of the team tonight, which was great to see, hopefully with a bit more confidence both Suarez and Carroll can become more prolific infront of goal, great come back! So happy.
Lfcmatt

Well said stedz mate, that's exactly why he was my MOTM.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

26 Oct 2011 21:41:53
All you mugs slating Suarez look like cocks now. First class result at a extremely hard ground to win at. At least that will shut the knobs up for a few days. Well done Liverpool.

The Irish Rover

Yes mate i agree where are all the ones who slagged of the team on saturday now. support the team win lose or draw excellent performance well played. red kenny

I agree Rover, Stoke is a very, very hard place to go. Coming back from 1-0 down, makes the result that wee bit sweeter. We didn't deserve to draw or lose that game, we deserved to win it, we were the better side.

26 Oct 2011 21:38:37
Suarez only 2 goals and can't finish the match because of injury. Rubbish.
Come back David Ngog.

Ok whoever disagrees with that has no sense of humour.

Suarez must do better. Where was he when Stoke scored?

26 Oct 2011 21:35:35
All you negative posters during this game should be ashamed! Pathetic so called fans who expect pro evolution scores every game.

26 Oct 2011 21:29:14
yuppyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. Suarez. Keep it up, reds. YNWA

26 Oct 2011 21:25:51
Why is our passing so poor? Giving the ball away over and over and over.

Spearing can only pass to the right when advancing plus the pitch is narrow as L

Cause players like lucas and spearing are playing

26 Oct 2011 21:24:12
C'mon reds. One more goal. C'mon

26 Oct 2011 21:21:04
Hi ed,
Have stoke shortened the pitch for this match? i can clearly see where the lines have been painted over?
Cheers. {Ed003's Note - They change the pitch dimensions for Europa league games,in Europe the pitch has to be around 5m longer and 1m wider than the regulations in this country}

Should have the euro pitches all the the time if you ask me ed.
kopfiend 1978 {Ed001's Note - I agree, would allow for more expansive football.}

Cheers ed,
I remember readin something about Pulis complaining about UEFA in the summer.

Hi Eds. Did we change our pitch for any Europa games last season, I don't recall.
Shankly's Red Army. {Ed002's Note - I don't believe so. Anfield is at the maximum width and over the minimum length.}

26 Oct 2011 21:09:25
Must admit. Reina has saved us many times. This year he is average. Not sure why.

26 Oct 2011 21:05:57
And we are title contenders what a difference a goal make.
All the best!

26 Oct 2011 20:58:04
To the two posters who replied to my post earlier but dont have the knads to sign off. You only have to look at his goal record at international level to see the guy can score goals. Were 1 down but can i remind you confidence in finishing is a massive part of a strikers armoury. I think thats Suarez's problem at the minute. I never seen him miss many sitters in the Copa, or World cup. Stuck his pen away in the shoot out with Argentina. He was overflowing with it. Once you miss a few, because of the high standards he sets himself it will eat at him. You tend to snatch at chances as he's doing but i'll tell you this he'll start banging them in prolificly once it returns and it will return sooner rather then later. And lastly this carp that winds me up more then anything about i've been a Liverpool fan for X amount of years gives you more right or support for a club i've said before i find it a privillage to support is pure s**te. Heard it all before been a season ticket holder 25 years yadda yadda yadda. Dont make your opinion any more valid then Red Ollie who by all accounts is goin to Oxford so cant be more then 20. Luis has been slammed all over the place since he came to the Prem, not a lot was done so what should he do take getting slammed every match. It was a disgrace how not one free kick was given against him in the last game, at least 4 times he was clearly fouled. I hear someones been booked in the Stoke game for a foul on him. Shame on you Luis for being to tricky and skillfull that players continually take you out. Oh is that a goal off a guy who couldn't finish his dinner. Jonson6

How Simplistic you make things

Lighten up FFS one goal isn't a harvest

Suarez is not good enough and his antics are bad for the club, being involved in unsavory incidents, diving, etc.

Smithy

Why so angry? I do not disagree that suarez is a good player, but his finishing has not been up too scratch. I am very glad he proved my last post wrong and hope he continues to do so.. It is a disgrace that he never gets freekicks after Fergie spoke out, but if you dive alot (which you cannot disagree that he does) then refs will turn a blind eye, ever heard of the boy who cried wolf? Its a shame to argue with you Johnson6 as i do normally agree with your posts especially about Big AC. Lets just hope Suarez grabs a hattrick and makes me look like a right plonker.
davethebutcher (i was the first reply-ee)

how many times did he save us last year ,remember the scum game or do you forget too easily

Ok davethebutcher, he only got 2 goals but u still look like a right plonker

26 Oct 2011 20:58:29
So....Suarez can't finish?

Alex

26 Oct 2011 20:58:25
Suarez just shut you crowd up

No he hasn't one goal from 20+ chances in the last two games is not good enough

Yeah that saurez is rubbish...should have kept ngog would have made the difference....STOP MOANING saurez is great

A few of my mates, who are toon fans, have been saying that we have offered Newcastle Big Andy back for £20million?
I cant see it being true but just wondering if any of yous had heard anything?

I hope its not true, I like him and hope he finds his feet and settles in soon!

_Shar_

26 Oct 2011 20:55:38
We should give Stoke credit. They have already beaten Liverpool this year, are in the Europa league, are putting Liverpool out of Carling Cup, and their entire team costs less than Carroll. Well done Stoke. Walters looks like Thierry Henry against Liverpool!

I know this is intended to wind people up but I couldn't let this go - their entire team cost less than Carroll? Really?

Crouch - 10m
Palacios - 6m
Jerome - 4m
Kenwyne Jones - 8m
That's just 4 :/

26 Oct 2011 20:55:04
In view of all the comments already, here's some positives from the game in my eyes:

1) Henderson. Considering all the posts praising him after his cameo's in the last couple of games, I don't think I've seen a single post about his performance so far.
2) Carroll. He's up for it, almost winning everything he goes for, and him & Suarez look much more of a partnership.
3) Kelly's low drive!
4) Lucas is back!
5) Coates didn't let his head drop after his mistake.
6) Carra looks solid, in my opinion.

Does ANYONE on Liverpool know how to put the ball in the net? Perhaps Kenny should stop the cheerleading and suit up.

Wellbeck would be better Maybe you should do as you suggested and take luis with you

Skrtel for Carragher......NOW we will be all over them!

26 Oct 2011 20:47:57
What an absolute tool Guy Mowbray is, he calls Suarez a diver for most of the first half and then towards the end says he should of gone down to get a penalty. He just loves the sound of his own voice, i guess he is in the right job.

Well 1-0 down again i think Adam can come on and make a difference, we need some creativity in midfield, maybe even go 4-3-3 and bring Bellamy on for Maxi. And before everyone jumps on Coates' back, we all know he made a mistake he should of just put it out for a throw in, but remember the lad is 21 and if you can sit there and say you never made a mistake at you job at that age i would call you a liar, i mean i'm a year younger and i plan on making plenty of mistakes lol.

Suarez (bambi) great player but couldn't hit a barn door from 2 yards, Carroll s**t player enough said...

Agger left back cos of Stokes style of football my arse, KK as f***ed it up again, why do we keep playing players out of position? What's happened to Flanno or Johnson and why is Aurellio on the bench? Agger is a C/B. May as well play Carroll as a C/B on KK logics...

Nevermind the FACup starts in January..

Well i guess you had better give Kenny a ring and impart your wisdom, as you clearly know more about the game than him, should he have not played Luis tonight who has just showed his class again.

Unfortunately I'm unable to watch the match so listening on the radio.

Again it seems like we are dominating but the score line says otherwise. Surly our look will change soon.

Take off Spearing and stick Hendo in the center, and put Bellamy on the wing.

Come on lads, ya can do it.

Bet u feel stupid now cracker super suarez

No not really, he's still not good enough

Who the f*** is this retard? {Ed009's Note - a Manc fan.}

Again not a manc fan

Just an honest appraisal of suarez

We will get nothing this season and 4th place is not an option unless Kenny gets another striker and one who knows how to score without requiring 10+ chances per game

If we eventually get to the champions league if suarez going to get 10+ chances per game?

We'll have an early exit wake up

26 Oct 2011 20:34:12
Can't wait for the "real fans" to brag about how well we played again today, and were unlucky to lose. Looks like a pattern developing. All the talk of silverware and we are going out of Carling Cup. Bad play be Coates, but how many times did we give it away in midfield? Answer: too many.

26 Oct 2011 20:34:05
Awful miss again. Suarez should work alot on his finishing. Passing so far has been awful for most of the game. Stoke leading 1-0 at half-time. Hope, we'll come good in the 2nd half. So far, not so good.

As a football fan which you are not you HAVEN'T A CLUE! Go watch another sport or turn on the soaps, we are battering Stoke and playing very well

Corkpoolred

Must start playing. carroll and Suarez had brilliant chances, both architected by Suarez, but really wasteful finishing. so bad to see us going down. No good passing moments, so far, in the match. Disgusted.

Maxi and spearing off,adam and bellamy on pls kk,

Careful. Any negative comment on this site inevitably leads to speculation of how 'true' a fan you are. I totally agree with you. This story was perfectly scripted before the game kicked off. Bunch of chances, none taken, and then Stoke get the lead. Now we have to break them down. Since only Suarez could conceivably do that, Stoke will be all over him. IMO, game already over, and Kenny knows it.

Get a grip mate. we're al over stoke, just 1 mistake from coates who wil learn from that. get behind the team

See we were playing well and justice was done with that win. Coates showed brilliant character to get over that mistake.

26 Oct 2011 20:30:31
This is ridiculous. Tons of chances again then we eff up at the back and go behind. When are we going to start taking these blinking chances???????

26 Oct 2011 20:26:55
Why dont we use Andy Carrol as our centre-back. Seems to be our best defender from set pieces. All problems solved..

26 Oct 2011 20:26:50
Creating chances, missing chances, goalkeeper playing a blinder story of the season so far. Odds on a penalty for Stoke and a one-nil win ? Has Kenny walked under a ladder?

26 Oct 2011 20:22:44
Honestly can not believe the amount of moaning about Agger at left back, we are playing Stoke so need as much height at the back as possible due to their 'unique' playing style.

26 Oct 2011 19:37:46
Just seen Suarez in the line up. Hope he bags tonight because all this conception about his finishing being poor is bull as far as i'm concerned. You can say his 49 goals in a season was in a weak league but was in all comps inc Europe. Not sure which comp, suspect Europa though. He scored 3 in the World cup no mean feat, 4 in the Copa America again not an easy task. I think his problem is confidence at the moment in front of goal. As good as his outfield play and skill are is breath taking at times he's a human and as weak as the Dutch league is he still had to apply his sussosed weak finishing touch at the end of each move. I truly belive that once he gets his confidence in front of goal back he'll be knocking everything in. I also cant belive fans turning on him already where as Bob the Red whom along with Huyton Red and The Real KB are the most worthwhile and informative posters on here that Bob said today he was being treated like a demi god a short while ago. Which was true and now we've got some kind of straw poll of would we have a guy back who jumped ship when we needed him and who and who Suarez has got more goals then him this season then Torres has got in his entire Chelsea career, or Suarez who just loves playing footy as far as i'm concerned and if he ever does leave which eventually what will happen its footy, he wont down tools on the pitch which Torres clearly did, i've seen him chase back for chelsea more in a couple of games for em then he did in his last season with us. He just loves to play footy like a big kid and the clattering's he's taken that have gone unpunished before this diver furore reared its head i'd do the same as him the amount of times its happened. He's not two footed anyone and Torres could just be as mouthy as Suarez to refs and opponents but thats all forgotten but because he never tried . From Sam Tomkims to Christophe Berra have all slammed him, nearly assaults in my book he's going to take his evassive action until he's being protected proper by the refs. Which i belive the lack of it has lead up to this action Suarez has had been taking of late. One min he's a genius, the next were asking would we trade him with a striker we had a good season and a half to good seasons max in Torres again. I really begin to wonder what fans want from him, will we not be happy till he's getting a clapped off with a broken leg at Anfield. Give the guy a break he's a young guy who is only going to get better in all facets of the game. Great posts again today Bob the Red Huyton Red and the Real KB. Kiwi Red i concur my friend. No more air time no matter what our esteemed poster i mean the reply button masher writes about our number 9 anymore. I was given a tip off a wise owl the other day i should have stuck to for sure. I think you know who you are. Jonson6

I'd say missing about a million sitters so far this season would say his finIsh isn't up to scratch.

Suarez just loves falling around looking for free kicks and penalties as a Liverpool supporter for over 40 years I and many others find his style of play repulsive. The sooner he leaves the better.

Get a life, your telling us you supported Liverpool for 40 years, more like 4 days or you are a manc, suarez is one of our best player, I'm a season ticket holder, watching him play he is class, he just need a good partner up front with him.

Yes he just needs a better eye for goal, better feet and a better brain and then he'll do okay

Luis is a very smart footballer always looking for an advantage for the team the boys no fool watch him try all sorts hes a winner

Fellow Reds,

I call upon all of you to, no matter how tonight works out, support the team. I don't want to see a post-match aftermath being "we need to sell xxxx" and "I can't believe we paid for him!" It seems that even after a victory, according to many, some players aren't fit to wear the shirt; and this is coming from 'supporters'.

Can we not just get behind the boys, BE the twelfth man, and rest assured in the certain knowledge that we will be up there come the end of the season?

Eds quite happy with the team do you see agger at left bk or a 5-3-2. Its important to get a solid base at stoke and thats what we have got. And i believe there is goals with suarez and carroll starting.

Mighty reds {Ed001's Note - has to be a back 4 with that team, must be Agger with Maxi ahead of him.}

He played at LB briefly against Rangers. Stoke narrowed the pitch so much last time it made our wingers defunct... he's basically picked a big back 4 to deal with the aerial threat and a narrow midfield in front of them.

HEY LFC FANS.................

i WAS.......looking forward to the game...until i saw the team sheet..........not even a recognised left back in the game............no pace whatsoever

the whole team selection is as if we have to make do with what we got.......its rubbish

oh well....this game will be an easy home win for stoke...

I'd rather see Aurelio at left-back but Agger is a beast, he's great on the ball. Henderson has more pace than you'd think, I imagine we'll attack with pace up the right with Henderson and Kelly. Build down the right, link to Suarez and Lucas in the middle and have Maxi and Carroll finishing it off. Bonza

Agger is a beast?

FFS what type of beast is agger someboby will brush against him and thats six months rehab.

The only way we can cope with City is give chance our young Lad. we need 1/2 from the young player who is going to Rock in EPL. Gerrard, Owen type that will be huge boost to us otherwise I cant see we will use £30m to £50 buy 2/3 player next january and summer.

Hi Ed,

Was just wondering if i could get your opinion of David Moli, He burst on the scene in the early season friendlies but haven't seen much of him since. But looked a real find and he was much younger than the rest of the youth squad. Thanks.

Jatt YNWA {Ed001's Note - I am trying not to get too excited, but this lad does look a bit special. He is very young though, a lot could go wrong before he is ready. All being well, he is a very very exciting young player, has that touch of something special I remember seeing with Owen at that age.}

I remember watching Moli and i know its one of your pet hates but he just had an unbelievable physique for a 15 year old! but what i was most impressed by was that he wasn't just reliant on his physique in the way he played, unlike someone like Micheal N'goo. Fingers crossed....

Jatt YNWA

That's harsh on N'Goo... I think he is technically quite good, but has a lot to work on to be a Premier league player.

Richards

To me his playing style is very close to emmanuel adebayor; he is tall, fast has a good touch but most importantly can finish very well for his age and with both feet(he is 15 btw).

If we finish our chances like we should do, i dont think we would have any problems finishing them off with a decent 3 goals

I have a lot of time for Stoke actually. Their manager riles me up and some of the players are tits but they have great support and it was hard not to get sucked into the atmosphere when they beat Arsenal a couple of seasons ago or Crouchy equalised against United. They do play some really good football sometimes as well

any chance of us going for tevez {Ed002's Note - No.}

Why you want that home sick money maker? then some day he dont want to play for u too. maradona ask him there is a room for u in al wasal he direct ask how much ?

Why ed? {Ed002's Note - I am not going to go in to detail, sorry. He is currently being hawked around Europe with a £40M price tag - which would certainly count Liverpool before any of the other easons. Expect some horse trading with perhaps Manchester City retaining some third party ownership of the player.}

Sorry if you think im abit slow Ed but could you please explain the third party ownership because i dont fully understand how it works

Thanx Ed

MJ {Ed001's Note - it just means that someone other than the club they play for and the player themselves, retains a part-ownership of the player's contract. It means that you have to agree deals with 3 parties to sign them, rather than just 2.}

Because why would he want to play for us if he doesn't want to play for City? This is beyond a personal disagreement with Mancini, it's about him wanting to have a nice villa in Spain or apartment in Milan where he can sun about rather than living in Manchester until he's 30. He's not going to want to trade Manchester for Liverpool

Red Ollie

Ed002, is 3rd party ownership allowed in the Premier League? I thought all forms were banned...

Richards {Ed001's Note - it is allowed to have a cut of a player outside of the Prem, but clubs are not allowed to field a player with 3rd party ownership themselves.}

Would you seriously want that kind of attitude in the first team? I didn't particularly enjoy watching Suarez's outburst when he was subbed against Wolves (although completely understood the reason why) but Tevez' attitude is much, much worse. Not even a thought, I'd pass on that one.

Cuchulainn's Hounds

any chance of us going for kyle walker {Ed002's Note - No.}

Who needs Walker when we have Kelly?

Renegadered

^^ Because Walker is better, why do you think!

Walker has a far better end product. He made Spurs' first goal at the weekend and he's scored a few already in his career. He also looks more assured on the ball. Kelly is good but he's not as good as people seem to think. I'm a big fan of his but I'd take Walker over him

There's more chance of Murray Walker coming out of retirement and deciding to try his hand at football commentating.

"And here comes Mika Hakkinen, double world champion twice over."

Cuchulainn's Hounds

Why do you lfc fans insist every product of your youth is brilliant, dont get me wrong he's a bright spark in terms of talent but he is nowhere near as good as walker right now, not saying he wont be better. plus they are different players. walker is fast and good shot. kelly is just .... pants? {Ed001's Note - rubbish, Kelly is fast, tall, strong, excellent defensively, good positional sense and calm and collected on the ball. His problem is injuries, other than that he is a fantastic player, better than Walker.}

Your wrong on this one ed, walker its its the better player, you claim your lad how often have you seen walker live? Ask the villa fans or the qpr fans who's the better? They'll both say walker, even some of your own fans think that! But its like you said your lad is always our mostly injured if that so hows he better than walker? There's bias and there's bias and sometimes you need to be an ed and not a blinkered one {Ed001's Note - yes there is a lot of bias, you are exhibiting it now. If you think injury makes a difference to ability then I guess King must be the worst player of all time? Funny that the Villa fans I know all wonder how Walker gets in the England set up ahead of Kelly, they think he can't defend. Kelly is better than you realise, but clearly you wouldn't have a clue because you wouldn't even question it if you had seen the lad play.}

I'm sure the couple of villa fans you know would say that, the ones that posted on here and on various transfer sites along with the qpr fans wanted walker to sign for their respected clubs, I'm sure your lad will be called into the england alongside walker soon?
Ps, yes I've seen him play btw, & I'll stay with the majority & stick with walker

26 Oct 2011 17:05:12
Eds do you see Adam Morgan involved with the first team this season because he certainly knows where the back of the net is? Looks a really good player and very lively in the box.

Or is it maybe a season to soon but he is certainly knocking on the door.

Mighty reds {Ed002's Note - Perhaps a cameo or two and a loan once he is 18.}

Loan alwaays not work if we loan Owen then he may never serve us 10 years. I think he should be in the team and play sub some time

@ your post 12.49 re new stadium
Yet again more tantalising info for the punters. A ground breaking deal that no one else has heard about. Not macca, the eds, journos. Not a peep, except you.
I've enjoyed our discussions mate, but its time for you to put up.
Where are you getting this info ? I don't mean naming the source, but is it internal or outside of the club ?
Have you seen documents or is it word of mouth ?
Was it first hand, second hand or what ?
Your figures are generalised but still with some detail. How can you quote such financial info ?
Who are these mystery naming partners ? You got figures but no name ?
And you say the new stadium is almost sorted - what, the old plans or something new and larger that needs new planning permissions and infrastructure ?
You got big claims mate, so time to put up please.
The Real KB

And Shanklys Red Army / lfc
Questioning this info is not being negative lads. Weare not talking about signing a 40m player here but a long term debt ten times that. That is realism.
There's no great money to be made out of football, unless there's sustained success on the field. Then the owners could cream off revenue - ala the Glazers. Not what we want at all.
Or the value of the club is raised and profit could be made from a sale of the club. I suspect this is FSGs ultimate goal. I got no problem with that - it would require us to grow and be succesful longer term.
But from FSGs perspective, surely they will want to do that at minimum risk and with controlled outlay. Wouldn't you ?
A new stadium means debt for them for the next 10-15 years.
The Real KB

Hi there "The Real KB'.
It was just refreshing to read a positive and constructive post (by Huyton Red), only time will tell if all the details come to be realised, or merely conjecture.
If one considers the money being spent on NFL (American football) stadia, and the vast sponsorship deals concluded there, things are possible. The joint venture Meadowlands Stadium (shared by New York Giants and Jets) cost in excess of $1.6 billion, the Dallas Cowboys stadium $1.3 billion, all these have very lucrative sponsorship deals attached, running into millions of dollars over extended periods, so potentially a £200 million deal over 10-20 years is not that outrageous. The LFC owners FSG have massive plans for the club, international brand building and naming rights I am sure is part of the mix. I truly believe our owners have adopted the long view in all aspects of their business dealings, and are thus seeking out partnerships and synergies to fulfill this 'Vision'.
Interesting enough the new Metlife stadium (Giants and Jets) seats 82500, it replaced the old stadium which could seat 80000 and was demolished after 30 years.
The LFC global brand is massive,internationally known and recognised, thus I would believe that the owners are looking to capitalise on that. Here in South Africa the two most supported teams are LFC and Man U, the support for other teams in still small.
Cheers Mate, and thanks for your enlightened views and opinions, its great when fans around the globe can share in meaningful exchanges of information and ideas.
This is our team, the team we support, and are passionate about.
We want LFC to be the biggest, most recognised, respected and appreciated footbal club in the world!.
Regards, Shankly's Red Army.

I can't name my source due to the fact he works in a finance department and would lose his job on confidentiality grounds. The club is being very secretive about names etc but obviously as with everything else the owners are letting the experts do the calculations so figures are being drip fed.

The naming rights deal is staggered payments ed002 but still makes the deal very worth while and the figures being quoted are the main motivation behind Chelsea now wanting a new ground.

Huyton red

It is a perplexing qustion. The club cost £250million (can't recall the exact price).
If FSG were to ultimately sell one day, they would need to increase the value a great deal, didn't G&H believe it was worth upwards of £700million.
The only way to increase the value of the assest is to build a new stadium (value thereof is thus tangible). So why finance this all yourself, when you could sell naming rights therefore.
Rushie.

Huyton,
I never asked for your friend's name or his company. But "a finance dept" ?
You dont say !
Cmon mate, you can do better than that.
Is s/he working on the project, seeing documents or what ?
We realise naming rights are the golden egg. Don't embellish yr post with chelsea. Thats something we all know.
More please...
The Real KB

The real kb. Obviously I can't go into too much detail. He doesn't work directely for the club but for a intermediate company paid by LFC to help facilitate the process. Calculate financial viability etc.

The reason I mentioned Chelsea is the new owners seem to have connections there as more than 1 official has been in touch. They seem to know exact figures so I'm not the only one who knows this info.

Huyton red {Ed002's Note - So your friends story seems to have changed significantly in that the money is no now being paid in one £200M lump sum up front - so do you now accept a significant loan will be required? It is really hopeless trying to explain anything to do with money.}

Ed002 your normally spot on. Not this time. I have been posting about this for weeks. Never have I said it's a lump sum. Yes money will be borrowed but against a garuented income source that won't effect footballing operations. {Ed002's Note - The impression you have given yesterday by saying "Majority of costs will be covered by naming rights. Any debt put against the ground would be an investment." led me to believe that you were suggesting teh money was being paid up front. The reality of what you are saying is that all of the costs will be paid for by a loan that the club will take out, say £300M, and that some of the repayments on the loan would be met by annual sponsorship payments. So over 10 years the repayments are going to be something in the order of £45M per annum. Ok.}

hey eds wonderful site here that you have. keeps me sane at work lol. I just wanted to ask what the management thinks of andy carrol, as from what i have seen he is utter useless. i may get hounded for this but its just an opinion. he has no ball control and we brought him for his aerial ability but that miss against norwich was atrocious. once again great site eds hope you reply.. {Ed002's Note - I am sure that they think he is fine.}

Why do you think that Ed? He hasn't started the last two games. They can't just think he is "fine."

Ash {Ed002's Note - Sorry, I thought Liverpool had a squad of players not just a starting 11? I appreciate a lot of the fans have built up Carroll as a hate figure, but as soon as he scores a goal or two that will all change and the fans will turn to someone else as their figure of hate.}

Liverpool do have a squad of players and not just a starting 11. The problem is they don't have a raft of striking options and are desperately lacking a finisher. If everything was fine, he would be playing as its one area we are lacking in. I also never said I hated him, he just doesn't fit into our system.

Ash {Ed001's Note - and we don't play the same system in every match....}

Thats true, but you won't get more contrasting games than against Utd and Norwich.

Conor Coady is doing fantastic today for the reserves as is Sterling & Morgan.
I think these three guys deserves some taste of first team though it might be too early.
I always rated this Coady highly since first i saw him in action. Think he has lots of potential, a great prospect, has leadership can be our future captain.

I would choose Coady over this Jay Spearing any-day. I don't know why so many ppl rate this Spearing guy so highly. May be its because he is a local lad but he is no where near good enough and he is not a youngster any more 23 next year. IF I were Kenny I would sell him & will give young Coady his place.

Within around 3hrs time Stoke game will kick-off! I just hope it's not another disappointing, embracing defeat.
But have this bad feeling it would be 2-1 to Stoke.
Pray we win this match! Come on Liverpool. YNWA!

Thanks Ed

What's the advantage in the liveonlinefooty site, mate?

You can get pretty much any game via firstrowsports, which is free.
Don't know whether its my connection or the links, but the quality on firstrow sports is usually dire.
Jerky video, frequent pauses, and non-stop pop-up adverts that you cant get rid of.

Is liveonline footy any better mate?

I`ve been using the site since preseason its good. was a few hiccups at beginning, with stream stopping n starting but its been fine all season. its a real good clear picture with english commentary. i decided to pay, coz was fed up of free sites poor/fuzzy/slow/crashing/foreign commentary. it shows all games n sky sports news/golf/racing n sometimes boxing ppv`s. its worth six quid every 2 months or 20 quid for a year. thats the same prices as a pint of carlsberg in some pubs.
on a side issue, lets all get behind dalglish/carroll/henderson/owners.
we are playing some fantastic football. things so different from 1 year ago.

ed ive always wondered with all the income from a home game what exactly does it pay for just players wages and does the club make money in the end.DORSET RED {Ed002's Note - The income fom match days just goes in to the same pot as all other income for the club which falls broadly in to the following categories: (a) match day income (tickets etc.); (b) commercial income (sponsorship, pre-season tours etc.); (c) Merchandising income (sales of rosettes and rattles); (d) Media income (television etc.); (e) Performance related income (Premier League and European competition payments). The costs on match day includes a proportion of the day-to-day costs of running the stadium, wages for all the staff, policing costs, floodlight costs, etc.. When the accounts finally come out for this year they will show a very significant loss - mainly as a result of spending on players and no income from the Champions League.}

Dont know how valid it is but two companys (tagebau architekton designer and ian richie architects) have claimed to have designed the the new unbuilt anfield together and are using a german constuction company called MAX BOGL headed by Florian Hupfer who has just completed romanias new national stadium to buid it. any eds know anything {Ed002's Note - You need to go back and look at the date on whatever you have read.}

We should try to buy Tevez for £30m in January. He can play anywhere in attack, and guarantees goals. Yes he will probably want to leave in 1 or 2 years but he would give us that edge over Arsenal and Spurs, firing us into the Champions League. No we can't pay him a "city salary", but we could offer him better than an Arsenal and Spurs salary, and the chance to redeem himself in an attacking side which has a space for a forward and includes fellow South Americans and fan of his - Luis Suarez. Yes he would only be a short term fix but you simply cannot find a better player to fight up there with Suarez and City will not want him hanging about. Is Madrid really interested in him? Is the Russian side that appealing? Or moving to Italy? Yes he wants to go back home but have they £30m left?

Let me point out a few problems with your cunning plan:

1. The player ruled out a move to Anfield when he first left United, out of loyalty to the Utd fans.

2. He's had various disciplinary issues at every club he's been at, and there's no reason to think that's going to stop. He even slagged off the city of manchester on Argentine TV.

3. It might only be City, but any player that refuses to warm up when told to by their manager is NOT a player that will ever be welcome at LFC.

4. He's on the older side of the age range for player of that sort of value, and given his disciplinary problems his resale value cant be guaranteed. 30 mill makes sense on a 24 year old who can be sold on at 28 for the same money, but he's already a bit too old for the to make sense financially.

Suggest an alterntive method of ensuring champions league qualification?

^^ Play better, score more goals, dont let so many goals in etc, etc.

Tbh I would have fernando torres back rather than having tevez anywhere near our club.

RE red ollie

you commented on my post about hendo earlier..i disagree with your take on the interview..although i do agree they are set up to get the players to say the right thing, i think hendo is very open about his strengths and weaknesses. He has assessed his game and realises he has maybe been a bit negative and said its something he wishes to improve on. i took the time out to go through quite a few of his interviews where its mentioned the lad stays later than everyone else after training to improve weaknesses and he talks about his ambition to succeed at our club and what an honour it is to be here. think its a bit wrong to say the lad is simply 'not an idiot' from the interview

redross

Yeah you're right, I thought you were talking about his interview last week where he basically said "I'm trying to learn from Gerrard, he's a great player". Just read the one on the site now, and it's really good he's talking about getting forward more and taking more risks. Still think the questions are incredibly loaded though

Ed do you think we could go for another striker other than de jong in january? If so who do you think we might go for? {Ed002's Note - The interest is in De Jong. It would be guess work until we know of interest elsewhere.}

The real kb is missing the point. Majority of costs will be covered by naming rights. Any debt put against the ground would be an investment. A money generating one which would more than balance the books. Paying £10m a year in interest to generate £30m a year is a good thing. {Ed002's Note - So someone is going to give Liverpool circa £200M up front for naming rights. Wow.}

ED002, Your right. The Golden figure FSG were looking for to make the deal a reality was £180m. This has not only been matched but supassed.

It does represent a ground breaking deal (not including Man City's financial dopping at the Eithad). However when you consider that Arsenal were given £100m for 15 years naming rights and 7 years kit sponsorship and Liverpool were given £100m for 4 years kit sponsorship alone its not really suprising.

For the last 2 decades Liverpool have simply neglected to exploit its glabal fan base. While United were blazing a trail in Merchandising and sponsorship as well as build the biggest club stadium in britian Liverpool simply stagnated.

The 1 thing G&H did right in their time here was to start to address this issue. Our marketing strategy meetings no longer take place in Millies (a b&b on anfield road were they were held until suprisingly recently). As financial director Ayre moved this side of the business on light years.

Compare Liverpool's commercial revenue to uniteds and you will be surprised at how quickly the gap as closed to less than £1m in the last figures. Match day revenue and prize money is were the gap lies. The only way this gap can be closed is a bigger ground, by winning trophies and a place in the European Cup.

The ground is close to being sorted, CL has been the marker for Kenny all season and as for prize money - well the team will take a while to build.

We have the right owners. Expect the financial GAP between Liverpool and United to close significantly over the next 5 years. But the owners are business men. Who know all this. My source is involved in the financial side of the planning for the new ground and he is amazed at their vision.

He thinks they will turn Liverpool into a money making machine and they are aware that to do this results need to reflect the clubs stature.

In short. You cant buy success but you cant have success without money. And these guys know little about football which is they leave that side to the people who do however they are masters at making money. And are still thriving in the current economical climate.

Huyton Red

Hi Huyton Red, thanks for the informative post, I enjoyed reading it. It is refreshing to read a post that focuses on the positive, and explores the way forward for LFC, and does not dwell on negative sentiment and complaints. Cheers mate!. Shankly's Red Army.

As big a issue as what we are doing on the pitch , if not bigger this is liverpools future , thanks huyton red for posting , cant read enough about this , gives us all a lift knowing we have wise people at the top who are going to put us on to a different level where we will be able to match all the top clubs in money the club will need to fight the manchester and london clubs............lfc

Reading your reply Edd02, and it seems to me to sarcastic. Now are you disagreeing with Huyton or is it your own opinion. Do you believe him or do you simply not know??

Taffytel {Ed002's Note - I cannot imagine that any company is going to hand over £200M in one lump sum for naming rights. They may as well build the stadium themselves and then lease it to the club. All other such sponsorship deals (Arsenal, Manchester City etc.) sees the money spread over a long period - say 10 years. Therefore the club would typically need to take aout a very significant loan to build the stadium and the money arriving annually for sponsorship would go toward those payments. The implication from the post is that Liverpool have found a massive sugar daddy to avoid this for them. We will wait and see.}

QUOTE "....i think Suarez is a tricky player gets in some fantastic positions by is own skill yet falls far to short on the finishing side of his performance...."

Seriously? If you hadn't looked at him Feb-May as some kind of Demi-God then you'd have realised he's prone to errors and mistakes like every Human being.

He's showing no real drop in levels of performance from last season. You can mention all the great goal machines as much as you like but no one ever had a ratio of 1 goal for every chance.

He still has a very acceptable ratio and on Saturday, there were parts of his performance that were superb. For your own sanity's sake please put a little more perspective into your judgement of a player.

Once the dust settled on his arrival and people got a little tired of the wow factor, as so often happens, everyone tends to concentrate on the negative aspects of the player and rival managers in particluar with the help of the media will try and undermine and reduce his effectiveness. Suarez has always had areas of weakness and where there;s weaknesses you'll find enemies trying to exploit.

I posted in the summer that i expected him to get at least a red this season, as he has a fiery temper. It's not just raised its head now, he's always had it.
So these little tandrums he has when being subbed, he's shown before. It's nothing new.

As for the comment about going to ground far too easily and denying us free kicks and pens. I think you'll find he's increased the amount of free kicks/pens awarded to us by his clever play.

Did Helguson go to ground too easily on Sunday? Did Suarez go to ground too easily verses Jagielka? Did Suarez con the ref to get Ferdinand booked the other week? Did Rooney go to ground too easily in the CL game last week to win the pen? No you're confusing this with the cheaters who do dive. Berbatov in the FA Cup last season, Nani this season et al, Ronaldo for his entire career.

Oh and just to let you know, Suarez will off in a couple of seasons and by then i will bet my house we will be selling him for more than we bought him for....but i'd just want to get you used to the idea, so that when the time comes it doesn't hit you like a dagger through the heart.

Kenny will freshen things up tonight but take strong squad except Stevie and Carra to be rested…

----------Reina-----------

Kelly--Skrtel--Agger-Aurelio

---------Lucas------------

Kuyt-----Hendo-----Maxi-

----Carroll----Bellamy---

Doni, Johnson, Enrique, Spearing, Downing, Adam, Suarez

No point in spearing an adam on the bench through in sterling

26 Oct 2011 11:36:50
I wonder if KD will choose a 3-5-2 formation tonight?

That's what i would go with, utilising as much height and power as i could as no doubt Pulis will bring the pitch in by around 5 yards and his pre match tactics will consist of using the word 'hoof' extremely often.

I doubt there are any more 6FT 5" people around in Stoke that aren't on the books of the football club.

Reina-
Coates-Carra-Agger
Kelly-Lucas-Henderson-Adam-Enrique
Bellamy-Suarez
Subs
Doni-Skrtel-Johnson-Kuyt-Carroll-Gerrard-Spearing

I don't think he'll play Gerrard, however if he's fit and suffering no reactions from the game at the weekend and feels he can play tonight and this weekend then he may well start, however i cannot this at this point in his recovery plan.

No doubt Pulis will select Kenwyne Jones and Crouch up top, with Huth, Shawcross and Woodgate (if fit) so for the 15 throws on average that Stoke have per game, the six yard box is going to be a Mr Tall competition.

I feel sorry for the match ball tonight. It is going to get one hell of kicking from men in red and white stripes. Don't expect dreamy football from us tonight either. It's all about the ugly win, and by God it will be ugly at times.

Hi Ed - a change from the usual AC, KK, Hendo, Adam, Suarez, Downing bashings and the 'what a waste of money' and 'when are we gonna sign all these big money players' posts etc etc etc - Do you know if the FA concluded their enquiry into Suarez alleged racist remarks to Vera?? I know we may not get a public statement on the outcome but just wondering what you may know or have heard.
Cheers Ed

is it just me but i think Suarez is a tricky player gets in some fantastic positions by is own skill yet falls far to short on the finishing side of his performance he does go to ground easier than maybe he should which sometimes costs us free kicks and penalties ect.
Bellamy seems to have more going for him as our main attacker i only say this because i love liverpool fc and want them looking down rather than up .
also the kenny bounce from when he took over as all but ended the draw against qpr and sunderland were should have won games .

At last some sense

Somebody seeing suarez for what he's worth

We haven't played QPR yet. Dan T

Well when we do play QPR no doubt it will be a draw and there will be a tale of woe

I dont want to be rude mate, and I think Bellamy is great player, but if you are suggesting that he is better than Suarez, or could replace Suarez in some way, I think you are so far off the mark its ridiculous.

Suarez has so much skill and so many wayts of beating a man its incredible- he is dynamite on hte pitch, and gives 100% from start to finish. He would walk in to the starting line up of any club in Europe, and I just wish we had a few more players with his speed of thinking and passing.
I also wish he didnt have to go deep so often, to pick up the ball and do the creating himself- if we had a David Silva providing for him, you'd see him scoring for fun.

At the moment he isnt scoring as much as he used to, but remember he was the top goalscorer in Europe with Ajax- he has been absolutely deadly for most of his career, and he will have 20 goals before this season is over.

What a bizarre post.

Red Owl

20 goals is a long way from a haul you'd expect from a top striker

Frank Lampard scores that and he plays in the middle

Keep taking the tablets donut

Take a close look at Beller's shot on the Norwich goal, would have gone wide had it not deflected,for what was in fact an own goal, Holt however looks like he will score more than the nancy with the pony tail

just read the extract from hendersons interview of the lfc website. seriously have a lot of time for the lad..people need to remember he cant determine his own price tag. the lad is only young still and desperate to learn how to improve his game and isnt afraid to challenge that head on. good on ya hendo..top lad. would like him to start in the center tonight

redross

The problem is Kenny is deploying him in the wrong position, he will better reach his full potential if he is played at the right position, CM/AM. the lad have told this couple of times & i also believe he can do a better job at the middle of the park more than on the sides.

pytbull

Playing him right midfield isn't gonna disrupt his potential. Look at Carra he played full back before going to center back. Gerrard right midfield etc!

He's happy to play in any position once he's in the team and we should applaud that.

Corkpoolred

Gerrard & Carra played well in that positions but Hendo is not doing well in that forced right midfield position of him. It the difference.

pytbull

Gerrard can play in any position that's how quality works

Gerrard has played eight different positions for Liverpool with goalkeeper being the only real place he hasn't turned up and I bet he would be good there.

There nothing or no one quite like Stevie.

Man I love Gerrard too to but in a good way

To be fair, what exactly is he going to say in an interview with LFCTV? "I think I'm already better than everyone here, I don't need to learn anything"? The interview just shows he's not an idiot really. And the questions they ask are so loaded that often a player just has to say "yes" to say the right thing

Why is everyone bashing Kenny? Every game so far this season we should of won besides Spurs. His team selections have been spot on (needs to work on timing of subs etc) so let's get behind the legend that is KING KENNY!!!

Its starting to feel like true supporters are a dying breed.

We live in times of immediate gratification

Why would anyone expect different?

Loyality, patience and respect are scarce commodities

(I am not saying he is your favorite player) but when the majoity of fans here look up to you know who it tells a lot.

Ah yes the X-factor generation Simon has a lot to be responsible for?

A very valid point. Immediate gratification, in everything "Internet, messaging, email, social networking", we all demand immediacy in these things,fuelled by impatience. But the growth and development of a team is not immediate, it takes time to mature and develop (like a fine wine). Our team is developing and maturing, and like a fine wine the eventual enjoyment thereof will be soo much more rewarding. Yes, we have waited many years for the final product but each and every harvest during that time has been tainted and adversely affected by other factors.
In KK we have a master winemaker and blender, he has the resources and support of the owners. We now await with much excitement, the "fruits of his labours".
Food for thought.

Ed..Great Work and Great Site..
Heard that Javi Martinez is cost around 17 mill...is this is true...y the hell are we not going after him...he and gerrard or lucs in the middle...that will be sublime...i mean we can win even against city..this man i have watched and absolute gem of a midfielder...
If he was available y KK did not purchased him??

2. people say we need to buy another striker. if so. whats the future of Carroll?..we can afford to play only 11 people on the field and 4 should be in the backline with a goalie...we cannot play 3 strikers upfront...

3. Ed i wanna ask ur honest opinion..since we sold torres for 50 mill and bought carroll for 35 mill..who is the most benifited..cheslea or liverpool? torres has started showing his class...and sure..he is gonna bag another 20 goals this season..
carroll isnt being starting..
people laughed at cheslea and said we had a good business..I am not seeing anything...

4. do you think we should go for adam johnoson in the winter?? or should we sign another center back?
I mean reina has become a joke this season..he will be firing his backline...
he was one of the most consistent golie for us..

Also Ed..If we do not qualify for the CL next season (Arsenal and Spurs are doing execptionally well now)...can we blame KK?

Need your honest reply
{Ed002's Note - (1) The club are not in the position to buy every single player that comes up for sale. (2) An additional striker is required to give the team options that they do not currently have. (3) Both players have their merits and neither slotted in immediately. I don't see the benefit of comparison. (4) Unless a replacement for Johnson arrives in January I suspect he will not be for sale. (5) I was not aware that Reina had become a "joke" this year. (6) You can start a "Kenny Out" campaign at the end of the season, but perhaps it makes sense to give him a break until then. And who would you replace him with? Steve Nicol is now available.}

Ed..We went for charlie adam and henderson in the summer...Martinez is far better than those two combined..

If we buy another striker in Jan possibly Luke..we will have 4 strikers in teh sqaud..suarea will play every game and carroll will look surplus at some stage.

you said you are not in a position to compare Torres with Carrol..yes we cannot...but its a fact that we made the biggest selling business by selling torrres and we made the wors tsigning business by signing carroll..

We are not against KK..neither we were against Rafa..but at the end of the season..we finished 6th and rafa was sacked..so if we repete the same position this year...what will be the condition of KK...

So what you think reina will be feeling now...we have let goals to flow through our defeence in every match this season....and what will you call such a person...

Congratulations on winning our nutjob of the day...ladies and gents, the great unnamed balloon!

We should get rid of Reina for 20M he's becoming a liability he cost us a goal at spurs and norwich and if we apply the logic that is applied to Carra Reina must go

It's different to Rafa! Kenny is in charge since January and is building a squad and he's doing a great job of it - when this team gels come December or maybe a month after this page will be a happy place again because Liverpool will be scoring for fun and playing brilliant free flowing football which we have craved since Roy Evans.

Corkpoolred

Rafa was not sacked for finishing 6th, he was sacked because he was more interested in the politics of the club than the playing side that year - hence why he still is unemployed

Reina a joke? The only connection to an LFC keeper and the word 'joke' I can make would be the Clown Prince himself aka Bruce Grobbelaar. Well, either him or charles itjande.

I'd like to see us go with the following 11 for the most part from here on out

--------------------------Reina-------------------------
Johnson-----------Kelly-----------Agger---------Enrique
------------------Lucas-----------Adam----------------
Gerrard-------------------Suarez---------------Downing
-------------------------Carroll-------------------------

We need to find out if Carroll can hack it, if he can't we need to find someone who can, perhaps Luuk De Jong. Someone like him could work because he could play up top with Suarez behind him and the two of them could swap positions. Plus eventually a true winger with pace to play on the right side.

I will like to see Coates play a part in the team may be 20 minute but he need to be tested.

Must say that team does look really strong.

JRG

As an outsider looking in, your squad need 2 decent FB and a new RB. Lucas and Adam are not going to win you the prem - sorry but it is true. If you can keep suarez, fair enough but you really should be pushing to sign adam johnson who is better than downing and another 2 strikers at least. on the positive reina and enrique are quality players and stevie g can still do a job, however I would wait and see if a big comes in from a certain rusian side and then let him go, I know he is your talisman player, but his wages are massive and if you can get 15 mil for him happy days. Johnson is over rated to, in my humble opinion. apart from that your squd is ok. hopefully your younger players can push for a position.

Lucas and Adam aren't meant to "win us the prem", they're meant to get us into the top 4. We will improve on the squad even more once we are in the Champions' League. And if Carrick can be an important part of a title-winning team, so can Lucas

So how exactly are we going to get the best out of andy Carroll? He was as the ed put it the fulcrum of newcastles team last year. So why can't he be the fulcrum of ours?
We have players like Enrique, downing, Kelly, gerrard, Adam etc who are great passers and could bring out the best in him. Pass and move is great when he's not playing but maybe when he comes on we can focus more on using him like Newcastle did.
What's everyone's opinion?
And can't be bothered replying to posts that mention his price tag, that was January this is now.

MIKEY

****************************

Mikey, I've said many times, and so has Ed001, that Carroll has to adapt to the team, instead of the other way round. It is impossible for an entire team to change its playing style just for one player. What Newcastle used to do was simply hoof it up to Carroll, so are you saying we should do that? In the words of Ed001, "he has to learn to be a cog in the wheel, rather than the fulcrum in the entire team"

Keith YNWA

Keith, what role does the coaching play. If we can't get the best out of a player, would it suggest that the coaching is not up to standard?

Oh and just for the record saying i write more posts defending Carroll then you slatein him. Chris i've not wrote a post on Carroll for a long time, were i've just had a little scroll down todays post and you've replied to Andy Carroll posts min SEVEN min times maybe more.. Now if thats not an obsession with ONE MAN i dont know what is. Also i'm sure Dzeko played in the City match Carroll dominated with Lescott as Kompany's partner. And Dzeko never got a kick off the two centre halves Carroll tore apart at St James park. But i wouldn't say Dzeko was humiliated in any way shape or form, a bad day at the office i'd call it. To these.. "warring factions" so to speak on this site

-Why don't we not just talk about Andy's price tag?
-Why don't we let some things roll off our backs?
-We all support the same club, basically, and some may think they support more or harder than others - SO WHAT!?

-@Jonson6, I love reading your posts, and you have quite an.. eloquent writing style. Tone it down a bit, length wise. Your posts get incredibly hard to read and that's probably why Chris gets his knickers in a bunch!

-@Chris in Tamworth, I also look forward to reading your posts. It just seems to me that sometimes you intentionally bait our dearest long-winded one and we go through this every week or so, and I'm sure I'm not the only one getting tired of reading the drivel and arguments.

Kay, soooo.
Let's go out and beat Stoke eh?

Peace and love and happiness and footy, eh mates?

How dare you ridicule anyone on this site, McSnuggles. Please remove yourself from this site, with immediate effect. lol

Alright, I'm gone! Except not, love all this too much. :D

Just wanna see a pointless argument ended, in essence.

Who's would YOU start up front against Stoke?

I'd love to see (health permitting and all of that, of course) a three man midfield of Stevie, Lucas, and Adam with a front three of Suarez and Bellamy playing off of Kuyt. I realize Adam's not too mobile, but I still think it could work. Thoughts?

McSnuggles

And if this trip I want to take for my first time on English soil, let alone in the city, ever materializes, I'd love to have a pint with all of you lot.

This would be my team mate

Reina

Kelly Coates Carragher Robinson/Aurelio

Johnson Lucas Adam Downing

Gerrard

Carroll

This could be a good game to play Glen RW and see what happens. I would defo start Downing, as I think that his form has dipped in recent weeks. And this could be a chance to get some confidence back. We would have natural width on both sides, with these 2. Would probably mean more and better service, for Andy.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96, you left Enrique out of left back, how come? Switch Lucas with Gerrard and play Bellamy with Carroll!
JayB

No suarez?

No Mate no Suarez he's in practice for swan lake and can't make it tonight.

He does look good in those pink tights though!

Did I really post what was in my head

Damm I need to be more careful exposing myself

I left Enrique out JayB because I would keep him for Saturday, same with Suarez. These 2 have been our best players so far, I don't want them to get injured.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96, thanks , that makes sense!
JayB {Ed002's Note - Blair has written something that makes sense? Surely not.}

The difference is Chris is that i dont just write posts on Carroll. I write on all kinds of different subjects re Liverpool. Were as you dont write any posts ever, and i mean ever, all you do is push your reply button, saying he was humiliated against West Brom really just by using that word when i saw that game when he was at Newcastle and they did play him well, but humiliate what a joker. Just want him to fail full stop. And around that time they were the only only pairing around that time that he didn't dominate. I dont think he's best player since sliced bread, but he's at the top of his game he's a handful for anyone, go ask Vincent Kompany,you go on about his fee, out of his hands. Like i said you posted nowt after the Everton game what a suprise. But all your posts i mean replys you never post, are anti Carroll and nothing else. If Carroll doesn't full fill his obvious potentenal at Liverpool and we got rid i'd say unlucky, good luck. Where their's no doubt in my mind you'd be jumping for joy. Its a sad world when a so called a Liverpool fan actually wants a player to fail. Sad sad sad. Jonson6

Couldnt agree more Jonson6 mate. To be honest i stop reading a post signed off by chris as it is always just Carroll is rubbish, overpriced and should be sold. Got fed up so just stopped reading his posts, suggest you try the same because chris will never change his mind even if Carroll is banging them in for fun like we know he will.
