Ha Ha, I don't know which game you were watching, but how could De Gea have come for that corner. It was a brilliant delivery and there was nothing he could do. And calling him butter fingers? Well, a certain Pepe Reina must have covered his gloves in butter against Tottenham last week. De Gea WILL eclipse Reina. That isn't to say that I don't think Reina is good. He's in the top 5 with Neuer, Casillas, Buffon and Cesar. But, in time De Gea will be at the very top.

G.A.G.U.S
--------------------------------------------
Just think G.A.G.U.S, Reina could have been your goalkeeper. De Gea was just 2nd choice for you, you were deffinitley interested in Reina. But he told you to piss off, just like Nasri, Sneijder, Sanchez (massive United fan but still told you to piss off) all did.

Blair Mayne YNWA

Booooooooooom.

Nice one Blair ;)

Cameron Mayne YNWA

Blair Mayne

I think United turned Sneijder's demands down, who wouldn't turn the down the chance to play for the current Barcelona team(Sanchez),did Nasri turn united down or did wenger refuse to sell to United and no liverpool player is going to go to United or vice versa.

Lets not forget all of the above players wouldn't have even entertained the idea of going to Liverpool whereas i think Nasri and Sneijger would have joined United given the chance.

Marky Mark

Apology's G.A.G.U.S mate, the truth is De Gea was actually 3rd choice kepper for you. You wanted Neuer too, but he wanted to stay in Germany. Yet another player to tell you to pop off. This is getting a regular thing, condsidering you are the "mighty" United. lol

Blair Mayne YNWA

Oh yeah just like Young and Jones. At least you pipped us to Henderson Carroll and Adam. lmao

Shappy

Blair, I'm afraid your wrong. United agreed a fee with Atletico in November 2010 for De Gea. Sir Alex missed a League Cup game to go to a Valencia vs Atletico match with Eric Steele to watch De Gea in September. So, I'm afraid you are wrong. De Gea was always first choice.

G.A.G.U.S

Fairs fair, I'm a red, and as much as I'm loving De Gea's balls ups at the moment, he's going to be one of the best. I watched him for nearly two seasons at Atletico, and the kid is a tremendous shot stopper. But as long as he keeps making mistakes for the next few weeks at least, I'll be happy ;)

Sneijder, Nasri, Neuer, Sanchez all told United to piss off, for whatever reason Mark mate. I.e if Sneijder really wanted to join he would have took a pay cut, Neuer wanted to stay in Germany, etc etc, simples.

We havn't got CL football to offer any player (good or bad) which is a massive factor, in signing any player. We tried to get Clichy (he admitted) but he chose City because of the CL. To be honest mate thank h*ck we lost out, he's a terrible player.

Blair Mayne YNWA

Neuer was 1st choice GAGUS (which you know), after Renia decided to stay.

Blair Mayne YNWA

You Mancs are so predictable Shappy mate lol. I was wondering when you'd say Jones and Young? May i remind you kid, that I was the only one on your site who thought that Young would be a good signing, do i lie?

Blair Mayne YNWA

Fair play to AF today, coming out and saying that TV has too much say in choosing when football fixtures are held.
He's not wrong there.
The Real KB

More like biting the hand that feeds you.tv rights bring in so much revenue, they got every right to want to show matches when they want.

Fair play to Slur Alex, KB mate? Do you not think it's a bit hyprocritical, considering how he's used the media for years, to benefit his club?

Blair Mayne YNWA

I remember liverpool fans saying thank god they didn't qualify for europa league as they didn't wanna play on a thursday. it's only played on a thursday for tv. double standards much? or just excuses for not being good enough.

Shappy

The old chap is losing it, he has conned them for years with his luck

Aw shappy get a bit frustrated lol,
not fit for blair.

Ed i know they may want to play elsewhere but are liverpool interested in lucas moura and christian eriksen? {Ed002's Note - Liverpool enquired about Lucas and may have enquired about Eriksen. It is most very likely that neither will be moving to Liverpool, there is no point in dragging it up again.}

GAGUS you poor soul!

Thinks were obsessed with United while he posts on a Liverpool site.

Poor deluded GAGUS! Sympathy and pity to you in big doses. Poor GAGUS! you need to contemplate your argument better.

To the Squds fan coming on here and being a very arrogant person with him weak ambition of 4th. So what if you beat us with 9 men. So what if Scott Parker and your team got Adam sent off. What a suprise to see him around the ref when Bale went for a tumble against Wigan just to remind the ref how to count to 2 again. Was a freak result and its gone to your head my friend. You only just scraped past Wigan and belive me. When we go on a run thats we've just started. And some of the football we've been playing albeit in spurts but more good then bad. We wont GIVE UP against Utd and City like you did. And when we take 6 points from the next 2 games you'll see why. Was 1 nil when we went down to ten and you only could bag when we'd gone to 9 as bad as we'd played. Belive me, if you dont get it this season you never will. Ye played s**te against yous but dont think of you as rivals mate. More Chelsea i'm looking at right now as 3rd and 4th. Might have to change my target after Christmas again look up but one step at a time. North London will produce 2 of the teams that play in the Europa next season. Watch. Its coming together for us slowly but surely. Now watch us go lad. Charlie Adam might have a gap in his teeth but at least he aint a f***in fat assed little bitch Parker, nosey Parker always up refs clacker keeping count. No way was he gonna send Adam off till your players surrounded him. Wait till you play Utd you will really know what its like to be on wrong end of refs calls. Oh wait you already have, and got beat 5-1, at home. Marathon not a sprint and you wont get a ref who gives you as may decisions despite how badly we played to help you every game. Our confidence going forward is good. We just need to start keeping clean sheets again which is what we are known for. Up until the Fulham game last year Reina was in with a shout of the golden gloves award despite how we started. Belive your own hype Spud man. We'll go about our way, and i'm more then confident of beating the smaller teams as well like Wolves who did us at home last year as the big one's. Also take something from all the big teams Something Spuds fail do each and every year. Jonson6

Well said mate.Just wait until the end of the season to comment mate.we will see who gets top four. Not being biased my guess is us as we have team sporit unlike your players e.g luka modric.I admit he scored an excellent goal against us but when it comes down to it we have the fight in us players who want to play for are team.So lets wait and see before you make assumptions

26 Sep 2011 21:04:11
suarez is truly a beast! He gets subbed and loses his marbles. People that are hinting that he is discontented are way off the mark. He was disgusted he didn't score another goal and he wants to give his all for the entire game. when players want to leave they look disinterested, not furious to be subbed! True his actions question his professionalism, and surely Kenny will address that, but the man wants to play, and rightfully so! he is a monster on the field! Every time he touches the ball there is a chance something might happen.....
Coop

Well put man.

He's a fighter. I think he gets into a different state of mind while on the pitch and it's hard for him to come off of it. Sort of like those fighting dogs, sometimes they'd bite their own masters when they try to separate them from the other dogs.

HK

Just the type of player we need. He is already a legend. While it's great for most of our players to be decent and abiding, it's also extremely important for us to have 1 or 2 who will stand up and take charge. Don't forget that Gerrard is another magic monster. He is extremely passionate and his performances will prove it once again.

Perhaps fellow Irish reds may my share opinion, how the hell do Darron Gibson and Keith Andrews get into an Irish squad of Norwich's Wes Houlihan?

The lads been prem foot consistently compare to the above mentioned this season

What ye think Eds and Reds ?

Rebel_Red

Agree with ya 150 percent!

Corkpoolred

Always liked wes from his blackpool days very good little player.
JJ blackpool

I hear that mate, Trapatoni's selection is questionable to say the least, What about Leon Best too, the lads massive, fast and strong and he's a good finisher and he's scoring goals at the moment unlike Doyle and Cox who seem to get in on reputation rather than form, I think if he does sign a new contract with the FAI it will be a massive mistake, he has made us hard to beat but with no real ambitions to go out and win games. How often do you see the guy at games? He doesnt pick players on form at all but goes on players that suit his ultra defensive style no matter how or if they are playing for their clubs. I wonder does he even know players like Hoolahan and Best exist. We actually have quite a talented bunch of young footballers coming through the ranks at the moment and if the FAI were willing to bring in a good ambitious manager I think we could have some good times ahead. Ole Ole Ole Ole style.

Gman82

Completely agree mate I hate to hear traps team sheets and houses the lads that get called up. James Mc carthy and Wes on central mid. Y not well better the Andrews and Whelan. Paul Green even got a game here exactly who. I have no faith in traps ability to coach young players.

liverpool 4th...don't make me laugh.... we thrashed you at white hart lane, our first team runs all over yours and our bench is much better than yours...

4th is ours this year, arsenal don't have a chance, and you lot will struggle to get in the europa league with drunk andy, rubbish henderson, toothless fat adam and an injury prone past it gerrard, not to mention a past it carragher...

your team is poor, the future for you is looking bleak

Someone sounds worried!

You absolute tool, you beat us with 9 players on the field. Plus, you lost 5-1 to city, plus we're 5th your 6th.....aren't you a clever boy!!

9 players on the field - not spurs fault they werent making stupid challenges
5-1 to city - no excuses for spurs dominated from the start
5th and 6th - spurs do have a game in hand as there first game was called off
both teams are similar at the back and up top but in the midfield spurs are much better than liverpool. currently spurs would be the favourites for 4th place but if they were to lose modric and rumours growing about van der vaart then i would expect them to drop.

Suarez is way WAY better than Apebayor and Gerrard is the best midfielder the EPL has ever seen. Come back and allow us to continue this banter at the end of the season when we are in the champions league and you are not...

Ha HA! A spurs fan giving it large ...whatever next.

dd

Amazing that mid-table mediocracy has suddenly gotten the courage to speak up!
Well done son, you complete clown.

There's no need in being offensive. If you want to banter, you're welcome to, but you will make more of a point if you stated your facts clearly rather than ramble nonsense proving that you spuds are nothing but the bottom of the barrel.

Mind you, I'd rather have the spuds on here than the mancs.

Lucas is becoming a truly outstanding player. I have always rated him from the beginning and am very pleased that over the last year fans have really started to appreciate his play.

His tackling is very good and a lot less reckless than it used to be and his passing has seriously improved. He is often playing long through balls to Downing, Suarez etc.

He's shown great leadership on and off the pitch and is clearly a popular guy, I can see him becoming a LFC great and maybe even our next captain, and I think he will stand a good chance be Brazil captain in the future too.

Thanks eds for the great work and take care.

maka

Lucas isn't world class...he is average...

Future captain of brazil ...pele zico leonardo were captians of that great nation i dont think he would be fit to clean their boots.
dannybhoy

I dont even think hes average ,dont rate him at all,rob

Well rob, i doubt you watch much football then do you, kind of like my judging cricket players.
Dara D

Yeh player of the season for nothing eh?

maka

Lucas is poor, he makes Anderson look good.

How can you not rate a player that is first choice on the brazil team sheet every game they play?? get real suckers
tommy c

Lucas and adam is not working 1 has to be dropped

I remembered when Brazil were ranked no1 in the world, their now 7, basically because most of the players are average joes, like Lucas or lower.
Redblood

Lucas has turned in to a solid player who works very hard for the team but he will never be world class as some on here keep suggesting and I fail to see him ever being considered a great for us or Brazil hes just not good enough for that sort of accolade he is however a solid player

The game against fulham last year ( was the best football we have played under kenny I think ) . The system fitted us perfect , and we still have the front six apart from raul .

I hope everyone of you lot that was criticising De Gea, had a look at the game on Saturday. That is why he will be the world's best goalkeeper.

G.A.G.U.S

Who butter fingers his carp Reina is twice as good as him and cech is way better go back to your rubbish rumors site.

Good shot stopper, Bartez like, when put under pressure at set pieces, he well fals to pieces!
Jay

Two words. Pepe Reina.

Dano

Ha seriously? He made one fantastic save from Wilkinson, brilliant stop. His save from Crouch was alright but down more to luck than judgment. He was also woeful at crosses. He should definitely have come out for the corner that Crouch scored from, he cost you a goal and 2 points there. Looking forward to Big Andy jumping against him on the 15th, it'll be the easiest game he ever plays :D

Red Ollie

Ha Ha, I don't know which game you were watching, but how could De Gea have come for that corner. It was a brilliant delivery and there was nothing he could do. And calling him butter fingers? Well, a certain Pepe Reina must have covered his gloves in butter against Tottenham last week. De Gea WILL eclipse Reina. That isn't to say that I don't think Reina is good. He's in the top 5 with Neuer, Casillas, Buffon and Cesar. But, in time De Gea will be at the very top.

G.A.G.U.S

He will be the worlds best goal keeper - why the future tense? Are you planning on shooting the 10 or more keepers better than him at the present time?

@G.A.G.U.S.

I think they either did not teach you how to spell BEST or the right meaning of the word. Best goalkeeper is PEPE REINA by great mile.

mgz

Lol.
king henry

No Name

He's already a very good goalkeeper at 20. Give him time, he'll be truly world class.

mgz

The only reason you say that is because he plays for Liverpool.

G.A.G.U.S

De gea has potential but damn he's useless with crosses

The only reason you're saying this is because he plays for United.

maka

He is well down the pecking order for spain

Fair play to de gea, he looks a decent keeper, but let's see how he does over a full season. The EPL is unique and can't be compared to Spain. Expensive players always have a lot more to prove.

I can actually say that I am lucky to recall our great teams of the 70's and 80's and it was so simple. we retained the ball so well.Henderson is getting so much stick, but for me he keeps the ball better than anyone in the squad.Carra on the other hand gives it back to the opposition on every occasion and is worshipped .I am a season ticket holder,so I can say I see the big picture.Henderson is a real talent ,he's got a great engine, a excellent touch, strikes the ball well.He Just needs more confidence and belief that will come with experience.Carra on the other hand Jeez.Respect for the commitment, but I honestly don't think we need him anymore,as he keeps us too deep at home, it drives me crazy. It has given Sunderland and Wolves 2nd half opportunities to take the game to us.

You forgot to add that he needs to stop vanishing during games he is a good young player but he still has some major faults that must be fixed

Ehh, henderson holds the ball the best? which matches do you watch? maybe because he only has the ball like 5 times ever in a match.

Lucas keeps the ball better than Henderson. There is nothing wrong with Henderson's ability to keep possession but when we have Suarez, Downing, Adam and Carroll making runs into the opposition's half and Hendo chooses to play a short ball back to a defender who then lumps it upfield, it is very frustrating. I'm sure Henderson will be more creative once he is more settled and used to his teammates, and already he has created a couple of chances so he clearly has potential but if his goal is to keep possession that is not a good thing

Red Ollie

I reserve my judgement about Hendo but as you I've been around to see the great teams of 70s and 80s. Hendo would struggle to get into any of the teams in 70s and 80s but he could develop into a Ronnie Whelan type player. He needs to work and time will tell.

Would love henderson to show how wonderful he is, i really would, maybe at sunderland back on loan, let him develope someplace else we dont have time to wait we have waited long enough silent majority.

Silent Majority - so we have waited long enough fir Henderson to develop? It's been 6 games for crying out loud! Do you really think that is long enough?
It's funny because in an earlier post you are telling people to give the new signings until the new year before we judge them - quick change of mind?

JRG

I think Henderson would thrive in a central midfield position

JRG sorry just cant keep it in,dont like him,but dont let that put you off your fish n chips.silent majority.

Can't wait form the derby and hope everton play there 5-5-0 formation because we will walk all over them i think. Its mad because if they attack us with 2 strikers they may have a chance !! Moyes and his defensive mind are making me chuckle lately !!
I wouldn't start with Henderson for the derby though, and Gerrard not worth risking. Kuyt, Adam, Lucas and Downing hopefully with Bellamy and Suarez up front
YNWA

It is a derby though matey, I don't think any of us can ever be too confident, regardless of league form.

daveybootle

I think they'll start Saha for the derby, especially if Cahill doesn't play. If they do they'll be dangerous cos he's a good striker and very mobile. As for us, I'd like to see us play

Gerrard-Lucas-Adam
Kuyt-Suarez-Bellamy

but I imagine we'll field the same team as against Wolves, with the only change being Gerrard for Carroll

Red Ollie

I am not sure Gerrard will start but hope so.I also think it will be Carroll and Suarez up front with Henderson instead of Kuyt on the right.
I am not optimistic .. not very confident in our away form and to be honest if we get a point I will be happy.
Roy

Carroll should play with Bellamy as an option if there's an injury or the strikers tire

Didnt think Carroll was that way inclined.

Im confident we can beat them, usually its a derby so you can't call it, but got a feeling we will win, especially if they play there negative formation, which is weird because if they attack us they have some decent player's that could get past our defense which i think is our weak point at the moment (apart from Reina )
Disagree with some post's there about starting with stevie g, not worth the risk.
2-1 liverpool

I don't think Gerrard will start but should see more game time from him than the last 10 against Wolves. Same team that played Wolves will be fielded against everton

To Sir Alex

You are right European games at night are wonderfull but nothing compares to the finals.

My mind wonders back to that glorious night in May 2009. United resplendent in all white marched out in the eternal city. Thoughts of gladiators and maximus flickered through the mind. Sir Alex stood like the great CESAR ready to conquer once more. Eto after 10minutes struck a cruel blow half time came a chance to settle the team and steel them for the next 45. Did in those 15 minutes at half time the wiley old Scot allude to a magical night in Istanbul. "1 nil down lads come on we can turn that around! believe" Did they imagine their fans singing like the Kopites in the Ataturk stadium? Could Utd find the inner strength the belief to make the comeback? 70 minutes Messi and game over. Crushed, hurt, outplayed, team didnt turn up.
MAY 2011
The golden chance for revenge the chance not only to win the greatest trophy more the chance to restore PRIDE. NOT ARROGANT SIMPLY BETTER, the banner danced in the dusk at that hallowed ground. Yes United would return their prestige at home on English soil at the spiritual home of football WEMBLEY.
The mistakes from 2009 had taught Sir Alex valuable lessons the same errors would not be repeated.
Barca play the ball majestically Utd chase shadows then 27 minutes Pedro makes it 1 nil 7 minutes Utd have to wait until Wayne Rooney inspires the faithfull 1-1 Utd will not let history repeat itself. Half time 1-1 Utd are still in this game Barca can paint all the pretty pictures they want it is still 1-1 Sir Alex can taste victory he savours it the taste Bob Paisley knew 3 times would soon be familiar to the Knight of the realm.
54 minutes Messi! agony NO! Utd cant even touch the ball like dizzy children they are brushed aside HUMILIATION INFRONT OF THE GLOBE. 69 minutes the death blow from the matador like an old dying bull Utd colllapse.
All eyes turn to the team from Catalonia, the wreckage is packed up and returned to The Theatre of Dreams, of dreams? yes, illusory not real deceptive. For over 2 decades Sir Alex has hunted Liverpool to capture their glory to make it his own, WHAT FOLLY, ah to tilt his lance at windmills. For the truth of Liverpools glory is that it is a human club a dimension long abandoned at Manchester and the manager who achieved so much of what Sir Alex craves burned the torch of glory in a 9 year reign Sir Alex cannot compare and like dreams his will echo in the empty souless theatre the masquerade ball BUT LIVERPOOL AND THE GLORY OF SHANKLY PAISLEY WILL ECHO FOREVER FOR THEY WERE MEN OF THE PEOPLE NOT ACTORS HIDING BEHIND THE FOLLY AND ILLUSION OF EMPTY TITLES.

Dream on Sir Alex

The most successful person to manage Liverpool is Bob Paisley, who won six Football League titles, five Charity Shields, three Football League Cups, three European Cups, one UEFA Super Cup and one UEFA Cup in his nine-year reign as manager.

A new LFC stadium talk page? Or perhaps a general stadium talk - banter and rumour - page?

Just idea.

Thoughts ed? {Ed002's Note - We are not going to split the pages up by subject - sorry.}

I meant as a new option on the side bar, such as with the banter, rumours, teams, pictures etc etc. It's good to get feedback though.

European weeks are great arn't they.

It's great when all the really big English clubs battle it out for the Champions League, and smaller clubs the Europa League.

Just a friendly suggestion; change the YNWA ditty. You've walked through that bloody storm for too long now, without a glimpse of a golden sky. You boys must be wet through with failure!

I would suggest "Memories" is more appropriate.

Sir Alex x

Sir alex you have become so bitter,I suppose living in that dreadful place has done that to you,pop over to liverpool take a ride on the ferry breath some nice mersey air you will feel so much better.(godin)

Yeah, great teams taking part in a tournament that they have no chance of winning, ha ha, I mean, if you can put 8 past Arsenal then how many will the really big teams score past them!

Would this be the same 'big four English clubs' who combined have not won the European Cup as many times as THE big English club?

Perhaps if Man Utd are looking for a song to sing at the end of their matches you could choose something by ABBA - at least they have had a successful European career. I would suggest dancing queen.

lucas just is not good enough going forward. he panic's! its not even funny yea he can tackle but lacks concistancy the midfield should be downing adam henderson gerrard and we should play a flexible 442/433 with carroll and suarez.
dannybhoy

I agree still think he aint good enough.

I've noticed this. It's odd because he was actually an attacking midfielder when we bought him!

If we got in james mc carty of wigan or that guy annan? they would be better id say.

If we got in james mc carty of wigan or that guy annan? they would be better id say.

You slate Lucas but would keep Henderson at right midfield? Maxi, Kuyt and Bellamy are all better than him. Midfield should be a diamond formation Bellamy/Kuyt, right wing, lucas holding, downing on left and gerrard behind the front 2

Unbelievable. I suppose you missed Lucas' 30 yard effort that was inches wide on Saturday? Panic? Almost every attack comes through him in some way, whether it's a threaded through ball or freeing up play through the wings. He makes loads more successful passes than Adam. Lucas not only protects the centre of the park, he patrols both flanks. I lost count of the number of times he come over to marshall Jarvis and Long on saturday. The lad is worth his weight in gold. Gerrard and Adam in the middle together? Don't make me laugh. It would be free kick frenzy for the opposition from near our box because neither of them can tackle anywhere near as well as Lucas. Stop reading goal.com player ratings and actually watch his play.

Clearly a post from soneone who wasn't ast the game. Lucas and Suarez were outstanding.

Chubs.

Lucas is great defensively but needs to up his game in the final 3rd. He could learn a thing or two from Arsenal's Alex Song - he's great going forward and even pops up with a goal every now and then. I think under Rafa and Hogdson, Lucas was pigeonholed into being ultra-defensive and, as both managers are so tactic-minded, they didn't want him going forward. Recently though, he's started to get forward a lot more and this can only be a good thing. Case in point: watch the clip of Suarez's near miss against Wolves, where he picks up Downing's deflected cross, beats his man and prods it just past the post. Who's that man running in at the far post inside the 6 yard box? Lucas Leiva

Red Ollie

I dont read goal.com i read liverpoolroumers.com i was trying to say the best option for the middle is not a diamond it is four across the middle with henderson in the middle SG on the right 442/433."worth his weight in gold" thats funny (long)? look gerrard was better than lucas when he 17 and still in school
dannybhoy

Well said Dannybhoy. It's nice to know the managers of Liverpool and Brazil agree with your obvious football acumen and can't wait to leave Lucas off the team sheet. Oh wait....

Acumen...well it seems fairly split, people are not overjoy'd by him id try something else like hendo in the middle

It seems fairly split between duckheads like us on an internet forum having a bit of banter. There doesn't seem any such split between one of the most successful players and managers in our history and the Brazil manager.

Agger out _ Dunne in

Ha. Excellent. Richard Dunne is what, 33+? Not a bad defender by any means but we're alreay immobile at the back. He's too old and too slow.

Ha ha! We be conceding own goals all over the place.. Carra & Dunne..

Corkpoolred

His career is DUNNE

I can tell you are not liverpudlians,no sence of humour, ONCE again no sence of humour.

Hey! I showed a sense of humour with my reply - tut tut!

Corkpoolred

Don't like to explain someone else's joke but think of it like this AGGER OUT (because he's) DONE/DUNNE IN.....

Merf

Sell our best defender?

Im very sorry but Charlie Adam is so far off the pace of our game and I just do not see what Henderson brings to the team. Agree?

Adams is a championship player.
Henderson isnt ready to be a first team regular.
BLUE MOON.

Agree with Adam but he needs to play in a 3 man midfield.. Henderson is best suited in the center so don't be bashing him yet!

Corkpoolred

People can't agree unless you reason as to why such things are. Adam, granted, has been hit and miss. He's good against the sides where we have the lions share of possesion, he has more time to pick a pass and break teams down. However, he's not good in a pressured midfield scenario. Rash, often indisciplined and perhaps a little unfit? I support the lad but he needs to broaden his game, definitely. However, I've seen enough good to allow him time to improve and cement his place as a top player. Henderson is more difficult. Clearly a top prospect, his one touch football, is, at times, excellent. He's got vision and an engine on him. However, he also tends to go lost in games and isn't going to get stuck in in crucnh situations. Not every player needs to be a hard tackler, but modern footballers need dimensions. I'd limit his starts more in favour of Kuyt, give him substitute appearances plenty and play him against sides who are less mobile in midfield and defence. Give both a chance, don't write them off. Good players who've a chance to improve.

Rush

Henderson will play beside Adam, thats why Kenny bought him. Gerrard out right , Carroll will benfit from Gerrards cross's youll see a better team when that happens, mark my words.
Jay

BLUE MOON! Are you a fan? Come on mate - the lad is named ADAM! If you want to pass judgement on a player, at least get his name right.

Corkpoolred

Adam should play in games against teams outside the top 6 but should be on the bench when we're playing the so called top 6 then he should be on the bench. Henderson is learning and will be a better player in 6 months time mark my words.

I think the name "Blue Moon" tells you which team this lad supports boys. Come on!

He's on the rip.

just thought I'd say that I'm yet to see any commentator or pundit point out that Andy Carroll's "push" on roger johnson wasn't actually a foul. He literally puts his hand on his shoulder and johnson is ALREADY going down on his own.
If that's a foul then I'm struggling to see how any game of football has ever ended with 22 men on the pitch in the history of the game.
If you need me to prove it just ask yourself this question...... when was the last time you saw that foul given against Man Utd?
Yet you'll find it hard to find a Man Utd fan that doesn't think it was a foul.

This I feel is the perfect metaphor for what it is to be a man utd fan.
Without doubt the least honourable brand of inbreeds in the sporting world, they find it impossible to project their own corrupt standards onto other teams - a 2 footed tackle from scholes is "oh he's just trying too hard", a handball in the box is "oh he just didn't have time to move his arm", a blatant dive is "brilliant gamesmanship".
Yet at the same time Andy Carroll's hand brushing someone's shoulder is the most blatant foul they've ever seen.
I fail to see why anyone would ever get wound up by someone who supports a team that cheat as part of their identity.
Who cares if they want to post on our site?

Just remember you are interacting with someone that doesn't have the intelligence to understand the rules of the game, nor the testicular fortitude
to compete in a fair competition.
I liken man utd fans to some little "special" kid at school that started the 100m race at the 50m line, and then all the parents sit around and clap his victory and go aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh
isn't he brave.....

The problem is when this little special kid turns round and starts harping on at you about how amazing he is at running and how you never stood a chance.
You just have to bite your tongue and go " yeah well done mate you're the best, I could never catch you....."

Fair enough. It's not often you meet a man u fan that fights fire with smiles.
I feel slightly harsh questioning your soul now.

Top post Duckula, why only this morning whiskey nose is on about Crouchy, say's he's always fouling.....ahem, Vidic, Evra to name 2, glass houses comes to mind!

You're right Duckula, I think sir Alex is worried and sending out messages to refs to protect his new lame-assed keeper from big strikers - I guess he's really concerned what damage Carroll will do to him. Also concerning Carroll, he scored a perfectly good goal against Sunderland which was disallowed, no way he pulled the defender.

Right someone asked me yesterday who i'd pick for your team so just to show that there are many United supporters are intelligent in the way of football i have worked out your best team and tactics to enable you to get back to winning things.

the 11 i'd pick for liverpool would be:
----------------Reina-----------------
-------Kelly---Coates---Agger-------
Johnson---------------------Enrique
---------Henderson Gerrard---------
--Bellamy-----------------Downing--
----------------Suarez----------------

Your weak in centre midfield but have a couple of promising defenders, you also don't have any wingers other than downing and Carroll doesn't fit you style i think he'd be a better impact player if your struggling or to give you an out ball late in the game. This system would allow Jonhson and Enrique to get forward and provide width, Gerrard and Henderson are good at keeping posession of the ball so there is no need to have a DM. With Bellamy Suarez and Downing in your forward line you have alot of pace thus pushing the opposition defence back making space for Gerrard and Henderson along with Johnson and Enrique to move forward in. When your in posession of the ball both Johnson and Enrique would be more like wingers than wing backs giving you a four in midfield and three beyond that which will normally give you a numbers advantage thus there will always be someone free to pass to. Having a back three would mean that you can man mark any oppositions front three eliminating any space for them to attack. With this system though you would need to buy a quality Midfielder to provide competition in the centre another experianced centre back for when Aggers injured, and a coupe of forward players for competition. Then you'd have a team that is able to compete for top honours.

The players i think you should sign for this system are: Cahill, Moutinho, Podolski and Gyan. All would be achievable(although Mouthiho would take some persuading), Both Cahil and Gyan have premier league experiance and class. And Podolski and Moutinho have skill and quality in abundance. all would fit the system, and cost less than the 100m you've spent in the last year.

Good post. Good to see something intellegent on he banter page from other teams fans. Who you support?

Sorry just seen that your a manc. Best manc post ive seen

I don't mean to be a party pooper Shaps mate, but Liverpool will need to sell to be able to buy next summer, certainly without CL money. With CL money they will still have a very small budget. It will be very difficult to do dealings due to the FFP regs. CL money is a must, without it Liverpool could be in a spot of bother.

Sydney! {Ed001's Note - you said the same about Chelsea and were wrong then as well Syd, you really shouldn't comment about things you haven't a clue about mate.}

Shappy. These are the areas I feel you are weak in.....
Testicles, soul, mind and body.
Hope that helps mate.

Duckula

Ed002 - I was damn right about Chelsea, hence the reason they are planning to get a slap on the wrist by FIFA. I said they would struggle to breakeven and I am right. I may not be too clued up on this subject, but Swiss Ramble is so accurate that John Henry uses his services.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - Syd I have no idea what you are talking about. What are Cheslea planning? What are FIFA giving them a slap on tehg wrist for?}

Ed002 - Sorry mate the post was meant to go to Ed001, but I posted it to you by mistake. I was saying that Chelsea's big spend this summer (final flutter I believe you called it) will lead to them getting a slap on the wrists by FIFA. But like you said Chelsea expected this as are a lot of other clubs. I was saying Liverpool will be one of the clubs that will make a huge loss and will have to expect a slap on the wrists.

The only clubs who will get a slap on the wrists in three years time will be those who have qualified for Europe. There is already one club who have made it clear that they are not concerned about playing in Europe and who will continue to spend what they want.}

Sydney! {Ed002's Note -

Who is the club that isn't concerned about playing in Europe Ed002? Anzhi?

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - Right.}

Shappy mate united aren't so great in the middle either.
king henry

Hate to say it Shappy but intelligent post and you've got it spot on mate. Only change I'd make is Adam for Henderson for some games.

Always nice to see a thoughtful post from a manc, but those tactics are awful xD

Red Ollie

First syd i said it who they should sign not who the could.

then to all the posters such as king henry grow up, this post wasn't a piss take or slander on your club just my honest assessment, if you can't take constructive criticism then go live in a cave and have no contact with the outside world.

Duckula, midfield is where we are we too but that doesn't mean that your not weak there, you have Gerrard who is quite often injured and will be retiring in the near future and Henderson who although not set the world alight yet is a good young player who will only get better, other than that you have Adam who has skill but no pace and can't last a whole game in a midfield two(would be much better suited to a 3 man midfield) and Lucas who although improved isn't good enough or consisstant enough. So i feel a player like Moutinho/Martinez/McCarthy/Martin would be a great bit of business.

Red Ollie, you say my tactics are awful, what is your basis for this? I would like to hear why you feel those tactics wouldn't work and which tactics would be best.

Shappy

Lol
king henry

And that was an honest assessment of your club.
and tell me why i should take any criticism from you cause i cant think of any.

As a season ticket holder for 23 years I'm very sorry but Andy Carroll was not immense against Wolves. He was at most average. For 35m you expect alot more. As for Henderson, well enough said, another waste of money. Please dont take offence, this is my opinion.

I was in Newton Abbot this weekend and one of the many pubs I visited was 'The Swan Inn', they had three matches on at the same time, Chelsea, Spurs & Liverpool so I was spoiled for choice. In the Liverpool section there were around twenty Liverpool fans and every time Carroll messed-up, which was nearly every time he got the ball, they were shouting their thoughts about him. Lets just say there were more Carroll haters than lovers and that seems to be the case on here too. Good pub for football, but very hot and they have a picture of Daffy Duck as their picture of a swan. When I mentioned that to them, they looked bewildered, like I was the one who was mental. They maybe right, but even I know that Daffy Duck isn't a swan.

Sydney!

YOU didnt pay 35 million for him so what are you worried about how much he cost? He had a promising performance so get behind him!
People need to get off his back for the price tag thing.

He is crap mate mid table player

That's the reason why he's playing for liverpool

40 odd thousand sat Anfield, if the majority hated Carroll the noise would be deafeninmg which it isn't, a bunch of bar hangers isn't representative of the fanbase, neither are the keyboard warriors here

How does the number of years you've been a season ticket holder bolster your opinion of Carroll - pointless using that as a strting point to your post.

I've watched the game three times on television and thought he was immense, but alas, have never been a season ticket holder, so I guess your opinion is right and I'm wrong!

So we pay £45 grand to a player that we dont want,and he scores a cracking goal for his loan club,gets to play in the CL and we get nothing in return,thats not what I call good buisness,whats your veiw ED.Poollliver {Ed001's Note - I really don't care to be honest. We had to pay to get rid of a lot of players we didn't want, it is a case of tidying up the mess left by previous regimes. But what they do when they aren't with us is absolutely irrelevant.}

He did nothing for Liverpool and I don't know of any fans who shed a tear when he left. Good luck to him.

I have just read on BBC that few experts are saying that its not a 2 horse race but 4 teams are in with chance of wining title.
As far as I know even if spurs win their game in hand they will only be 1 point ahead of us and we are only 3 points behind chelsea.
But it does not matter our priority is champions league.
For that thing our team must be reminded of a united side last season which was not at all special but with their grit won the title.
We must get results even if we are not playing attractive football.
For that our defence will play a vital role this season.
Red indian

With their grit and their referees and their linesmen and their commentators and their pundits and their papers and their fa and their special rules and their suspiciously under par opposition and their extra minutes until they win and their less minutes when their under pressure and their referees and their referees and their referees.
Wait did i mention that the referees win all their games for them?

i'm a little disappointed that we could of signed the likes of mata, aguero, turan etc for the money we spent on others but we are liverpool and need to get behind all our players

None of them wanted to come to Liverpool.

Yawn.

We couldn't afford to sign them - we couldn't afford their wages end of.

Morning all, just wanted to give my opinion on Saturdays game. All in all a pretty good performance but for whatever reason we have been woefully sluggish at the start of the second half in both of our last two games, its as if we don't expect the opposition to come out and actually give it a go in the second half. We shifted the ball around pretty well at times and had we taken our chances the game would have been out of site and we would all be jovial at a 5-1 thumping but sadly not to be. A few problems were apparent for all to see however.
1. Carragher is pulling the defence far too deep to not allow any space in behind due to him losing more pace. This creates far too big a gap between defence and midfield and any striker with half a brain can pick up space in that hole all day long. If Fletcher could get that much time on the ball it worries me what the likes of rooney, aguero and silva would do.
2. Adam is simply not mobile enough to play in a two man centre midfield. Especially with the defence sitting deeper the midfield is too easy to bypass. At Blackpool he had Vaughan to mop up and then had another player (grandin/Southern) to actually get amongst players, and they still conceded umpteen!
3. Henderson looks woefully short of confidence and the game completely passed him by. Its tough for Kenny, if he drops him does he shatter his confidence further or there is the risk that will happen if he keeps playing. For me he needs to sit the next couple out. Can't see him having any influence in either the derby or Utd game. Kuyt must play in both those fixtures.
4. Much improved performance from Carroll. Worked hard, defensively very effective and even his link up play was significantly improved. Definitely needs a goal to build confidence but his contribution was much better.

I think there is plenty to look forward to from this team particularly with the return of Gerrard but some details certainly need addressing especially for when we play the big teams. I know this echoes some of what blair and kidmillions touched on after the game so apologies if this seems like regurgitated drivel.
Cheers
Greggers

Must say Bijev looks a very good talent. He played very well against Dortmund that day and deserved goals. I didn't watch the game, but a friend of mine from Germany told me that he has had a great game and got himself on the scoresheet, twice.. Hope, we can see more of him, there. And hope, he's gonna be the star for us. YNWA

Lots of fans are complaining about some if not all of our new signings, why dont we reserve judgement until january1s,if we are doing well at that time lets give credit where its due,if we are in dire straights lets heap the blame on those responsable, and lets do it together, problem being it might be to late.Silent majority.

It is already to late.
