Henderson was brilliant today, wijnaldum again was too hesitant and heavy footed. Its obvious he's playing within himself, needs a goal or two to loosen the shackles. I smell silverware :)

Believable5 Unbelievable6

27 Dec 2016 23:32:32
Disagree on Wijnaldum, does his job very well defensively, and if you look at the build up to our moves he is involved heavily. He lacks confidence in front of goal for sure, but I think it'll come with time.

28 Dec 2016 00:08:42
Lallana took ball from him for. a shooting chance outoute box, damn was he pissed.

28 Dec 2016 00:38:38
I like wijnaldum he is very quick and strong on the ball and gets through a lot work in the midfield. If he could add the odd goal it'd be great but he does a good job regardless and allows Lallana to do what he does and gives Hendo some protection.

28 Dec 2016 05:44:39
wijnaldum is heavy-footed, i saw him twice hesitate and react slowly to an opportunity.

28 Dec 2016 06:51:40
Wijnaldum should be scoring goals and making runs into the box which is why he was bought and Allen was sold.

{Ed001's Note - except that Allen can do that job. He was bought because Klopp believes he improves the team. Allen was sold because he was not good enough. There is no connection between the two at all in anything other than your mind.}

28 Dec 2016 07:17:45
What did you think of Joe Allen last night Ed?

{Ed001's Note - usual, runs around a lot, falls over a lot looking for free kicks, shows a flash of good play, but does nothing else.}

28 Dec 2016 07:24:11
There is a solid requirement of that position and how you want the player to perform. Allen lacked physical attributes to play a dedicated CM. Goals from midfield was one concern Klopp went for more attacking player else he could have gone for more solid defensive minded player. I don't think he was brought just to recycle the possession in the middle.
For me he has the same issue as Henderson, lacks composer in front of the goal and I don't see him scoring a lot of goals either.
He wants someone in the mold of Gundagaon.

{Ed001's Note - the same Wijnaldum that has been known for scoring goals as an attacking midfielder throughout his career now lacks composure in front of goal?}

28 Dec 2016 07:53:52
Well Ed01. He did miss some good chances in front of the goal BUT this might also be a case of instruction from the manager. May be he wouldn't want someone to shoot from distance. He wouldn't want Wiji to bomb very high up the pitch, May be he want Wiji to play an assist role in the build up. Either way it is confusing to me.
I have said this we look a lot similar to Arsenal the way we play when in possession these days.
It would be a waste of talent if Wiji is restricted not to be aversive up front.

{Ed001's Note - what good chances?}

28 Dec 2016 09:47:13
I rate Wijnaldum but got to say he didn't have his best game and looked frustrated at times.

28 Dec 2016 17:14:55
Seriously, Harry? Wiji has been and ACM all his career ( with lots of goals to boot. see his record at Newcastle) until Klopp moved him back to do a job for the team, something he`s doing well per Klopp and if you watched the game last night, you saw Hendo get forward a lot more. That was be cause he had Wiji behind him as cover and he`s also the one who covers the spaces along with Hendo, which then allows the likes of Mane, Bobbie, Origi and Lallana to shine. You say he doesn`t score goals. That is no longer his job as he no longer plays the ACM position here.

That job belongs to Lallana now. You also say he was poor in front of goal vs Stoke. When did that ever happen? When did he get the chances you say he got? You mean the two chances that Lallana took away from him? Sorry, bro but your points are incoherent.

27 Dec 2016 22:42:17
First time at Anfield was definitely not a disappointment, absolutely loved it! Singing You'll Never Walk Alone with almost 60,000 other Reds was something special, it gave me goosebumps.

Also special shoutout to Gazza who commented in reply to my other post about how his first match at Anfield also finished 4-1 against Stoke, can't believe history actually repeated itself, although I'm not complaining 😂.

Believable9 Unbelievable0

28 Dec 2016 07:20:51
My pleasure bud. I did have a extra smile thinking that it was 4-1 and history did repeat itself. just wish I followed my gut instinct and had a bet on it. As long as Liverpool get the 3 points I'm happy.

27 Dec 2016 20:36:33
Great win today but we are going to have to up our game against City.

Believable10 Unbelievable4

27 Dec 2016 23:48:18
we're going to tear city a new one.

28 Dec 2016 01:15:08
I genuinely believe we'll ruin them, they can't match us.

28 Dec 2016 01:49:20
Our boys showed that they are up for a fight and Pep`s team has shown that they are NOT this season. That first half hour vs Stoke, was the most difficult half an hour our boys have gone through this season and we came out of it with flying colours. Pep must have seen that and is prolly worried. It will be an interesting game and we will be ready.

28 Dec 2016 06:53:38
Man city have pretty much the same problem as us. A dodgy defense and an awful keeper. This would be a fun ride and neutrals would love this game.

28 Dec 2016 12:10:31
we need to keep kdb and david silva quiet, they are key to man city doing well.

28 Dec 2016 17:19:15
We have a much better defence and more clean sheets than them, Harry. Also, we work harder off the ball than them and we have a much better attack than them. We will outwork, out-hustle them and with the energy we play with, I doubt they will be able to keep up with the tempo and hell we will unleash on them from the stands. To boot, I will take Migs (issues and all) over the completely hapless Bravo every day and two Sundays.

27 Dec 2016 20:36:29
Good win for us today after an appalling first 25 minutes. Lovren had a complete nightmare, crouch and walters really bullied him throughout, only a matter of time before he is replaced by Gomez or Klavan. Himself and Mignolet were solely at fault for Stoke's goal. Firmino was excellent today, Origi showed signs that he is improving as his hold/ link up play was very good. Great to see Sturridge get a goal, definitely deserved.

Believable7 Unbelievable10

27 Dec 2016 22:57:04
Although I'm not saying Mignolet and Lovren did well for their goal, Clyne and Mane could have done a lot more to prevent the cross coming in.

27 Dec 2016 23:04:53
Solely at fault for Stoke's goal, ridiculous comment. Mane is equally culpable. Awful control on the edge of the box, stood and waited for Clyne to step in and then jogged to the side of the box and made no attempt to stop the cross. You're using the easy scape goats.

28 Dec 2016 01:52:48
KingKenny92, people are scapegoating Migs for his error (it was indeed his error) w/ o looking at the collection of errors that led to it just like they did with Karius. It`s the easiest thing to do, really.

28 Dec 2016 02:43:53
King kenny, yes mane switches off completely and let's the cross come in, but I'm mentioning mignolet and lovren due to them making these types of mistakes over and over again. They both are simply no the good enough, Karius deserves at least a fullseason before we can give a full assessment on him.

28 Dec 2016 02:50:02
Hamilton if Karius makes that mistake people would gloss over it as well, because the difference is we won. No one remembers the errors made in a match we win. Before long it won't be talked about, and Karius has made many in games we have won. So it's an error but it seems like people are either team pro Karius or team anti Karius and it's ridiculous. Karius needed dropping, so he can recuperate and focus on improving his game rather than not making an error, mignolet has came in and been pretty solid for the most part so it was a good call. Now mignolet will play against city and then it becomes a real talking point. Does he keep his place or do we bring back Karius. Long term I'd say we would have to bring back Karius at some point as it's only fair he gets his shot, but short term mignolet in goal is probably the best option we have. Everyone's got different opinions but if Karius or mignolet make that mistake and we drop points no doubt both would be hounded, but there will people that will defend Karius, but no one would defend mignolet. That's a double standard in my opinion. And the excuse that mignolet has been doing it for 3 years would be reasonable had we not slated him in his first season. We did.

28 Dec 2016 06:55:42
Y are people surprised with Lovren? He has been pretty much on the same level from past 3 years. One crucial mistake every game. Well He will have a good time against Aguero on Saturday.

{Ed025's Note - how negative of you harry..

28 Dec 2016 06:57:04
Kman92

People only look back at the error if you loose a match. Just like they want a new signing when you are not winning.

28 Dec 2016 17:22:13
Kman, I`m actually not having a discussion you are having so your post is not directed to the reasoning behind mine. Therefore, I propose you read my post again and respond accordingly. Just saying.

27 Dec 2016 20:27:19
Great win. half time result was brilliant 2goals in 10mins to come back. is the performance of a quality team. YNWA.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

28 Dec 2016 01:37:22
Didn't watch first 30 mins and it looked like Stoke went full throttle in fist half. The two goals just before half time took the wind off their sails.

For the first time in many years, I have seen us playing in cruise control mode in 2nd half. Stoke had given up after 1st half and we definitely looked good controlling the game.

Good win ahead of City game.

Cheers.

28 Dec 2016 01:56:06
Spot on, boys BUT I will say that the first 30 mins was the most difficult spell our boys have gone through this season cos we could have been 2 goals down. Our boys looked shaky as Stoke`s goal rocked them to their knees. But they showed their mettle and steel to fight back to thump them 4-1 and I`m sure Pep was happy to see that.

27 Dec 2016 20:23:36
Went to the game tonight. Great result!

Had a dodgy opening half an hour and Lovren looked shakey. After the goal though we started to grow into the game and by HT were completely dominating.

Henderson, Milner, Lallana, Mane and Sturridge were the pick of the players for me.

DS to start against City I think.

Last game I went to was the Watford game so looks like I'm a good omen! 🙂.

Believable8 Unbelievable2

28 Dec 2016 01:58:54
I agree with your post, Puzzled Red BUT Studge won`t be starting ahead of Origi come Saturday cos he`s still not match fit and really, has not shown enough to warrant starting over Origi or Firmino and his goal today does not change that.

28 Dec 2016 02:51:25
I'm thinking Daniel will most likely start against Sunderland.

27 Dec 2016 19:36:02
Great comeback today! A decent days work all around, Milner and Hendo my pick of the bunch. Sturridge must start vs City. Origi looks OK, but DS seems a bit sharper at the moment.

Believable8 Unbelievable8

27 Dec 2016 20:39:48
Disagree on studge, he looks like a super sub but not a starter over origi for me, his fitness isn't a patch on origi and we need someone up top against city who will run all game.

27 Dec 2016 21:57:35
Origi looked a bit clumsy on the ball at times, a bit slow to press, not as accurate combining. A player not in 100% form. Sturridges looks to be heating up. Would like to see him start and provide 60 solid mins on saturday, then hand over to Origi. We'll need them both up to speed in months to come.

27 Dec 2016 22:58:08
Origi's link up play / passing was amazing today, Yes Sturidge is more direct and dangerous in his own right, but Origi is more of a cog in Klopps red machine, he's got to keep his place in the team.

27 Dec 2016 23:40:31
We need to put city under pressure from the start, origi will do that for us. Studge hasn't played more than 45 mins in a long time. Bring him on with 20-25 mins to go. Origi also allows us to go direct if need be as he's strong, can win it in the air or run in behind.

27 Dec 2016 23:57:09
Origi's pass to mane led to equaliser and showed good composure under pressure.

28 Dec 2016 00:47:09
Origi is still a young lad.
He will be a little up and down for a few years yet.
But a bargain for the money paid.
I think he plays better when Coutinio is on the pitch as the opposing defenders also have to keep an eye on him as well.
This frees up a bit more space for Origi and Firminio.

Great win lads. Could have been a banana skin with Crouchy and Joe Allen playing. 8/ 10.

28 Dec 2016 02:03:02
Andie, Origi will not be benched for Studge and his goal does not change any of that. You say Origi does not press enough? Does DS? DS is not match fit yet neither has he shown this season that he warrants a place ahead of Origi and Firmino. Origi was clumsy at times today BUT so were many others. His hold up play at times and lay offs to Mane and Lallana, were simply sublime. He will be starting vs City, IMO.

28 Dec 2016 18:23:00
Just think we won't get as many chances v City. We can't afford to waste any. DS can be lethal, when on form, and he looks to be getting there.
But I base this purely on the last two games. Trust JK to get it right for Saturday. Could be a front three with Couts, Firminho and Mané aswell, if PC is up to speed.

Hi reds,

Just want to apologise for the lack of loan updates recently. A new demanding job, kids, and southern rail train strikes have left me with little spare time on my hands.
I have no idea who is still on loan! Lol.
I will take stock and hopefully get back to posting like normal after the new year.

Hope you all had a good Christmas.

Believable14 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Thanks.}

27 Dec 2016 16:36:49
No worries thanks for the update on the updates 😀.

27 Dec 2016 17:12:29
No need to apologise mate - you provide a service for free that many of us do not expect but certainly appreciate - take care of yourself la and, if you can post in future, they'll be plenty of reds grateful for the effort.

27 Dec 2016 17:19:12
Your updates are outstanding carra, really great to get an idea of what's happening with the young lads, all year I've kept meaning to say it but I rarely post. Bravo fine sir.

27 Dec 2016 19:51:17
Carra you're a legend 😘.

27 Dec 2016 20:17:54
Your posts are worth waiting for carra.

27 Dec 2016 12:55:15
The Aston villa owner has said he/ the club rejected a £25m bid for amavi from an unnamed club. That's an astronomical figure for a left back coming off injury in the championship, it's a pretty massive figure regardless. If they are rejecting those sorts of numbers I think it's safe to say we won't be in for him at that price.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

27 Dec 2016 13:33:52
They probably had no choice but to keep him at the time, nobody lined up to replace him or something.

27 Dec 2016 13:45:20
There owners are rich so they don't need the money.

27 Dec 2016 14:22:25
We have Milner, Moreno and the possibility of Juanma being promoted.

Unless were selling either one of Moreno or Milner, we probably won't be buying a LB. atleast that's what i think.

27 Dec 2016 14:44:36
Old news. Who cares about old news? The Villa owner whose club is currently irrelevant.

27 Dec 2016 17:36:38
I can't believe we're letting Lucas leave.

He has been an important player this season covering for defence and midfield.

He has also been an important figure for Coutinio when he first arrived and could follow him out the door

If its true good luck Lucas Levia and thanks very much.

A top player who hasn't always been treated well by the likes of Rodgers.

27 Dec 2016 19:21:24
Lucas hasn't featured much recently. Maybe klopp is more satisfied klavan has settled? I rekon the rags have put old rumours together with lucas not featuring recently and decided he is on his way.

28 Dec 2016 00:51:00
I think Lucas is a valuble senior player for us and a model pro.

Does any of the Eds or reds know if he is due a testimonial?

He has to be there over 10 years now.

27 Dec 2016 11:40:25
If Lucas does leave ed I would presume Klopp trusts Gomez to come into that position when needed and become the 4th CB?

Believable7 Unbelievable0

27 Dec 2016 11:47:15
Which is actually a good news for the youngster who needs game to come back to absolute fitness.

27 Dec 2016 12:26:57
It is good news imo. Gomez deserves a shot.

27 Dec 2016 15:31:45
Probably 3rd choice at least.

27 Dec 2016 16:56:23
Think Gomez is an excellent player who deserves a chance but would of preferred to see him loaned out to get some game time to build fitness and confidence again. But definitely a player with a good future at the club.

27 Dec 2016 11:38:31
The pressure is on LFC to win today after all teams at the top won yesterday.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

27 Dec 2016 12:31:00
Huge pressure game considering results yesterday, I expected a slip up or two but didn't happen.

27 Dec 2016 11:21:11
Going to my first ever match at Anfield tonight, absolutely buzzing! 😊😊😊.

27 Dec 2016 11:47:09
Enjoy mate it's such a special place, especially under the lights.

27 Dec 2016 11:47:50
Good luck and enjoy the evening mate.

27 Dec 2016 11:48:46
Enjoy mate.

27 Dec 2016 12:52:35
Ironically my first match was against Stoke. We won 4-1 that day. If history repeats itself for you mate.

Have a great day.

27 Dec 2016 13:15:38
Stoke was my second Anfield match, but if I tell you Sir Stanley Matthews played you can work out which decade it was. We won anyway! Let's hope it's the same outcome today.

27 Dec 2016 16:22:57
Oh you lucky basket!
Wish I was going with you. Enjoy the atmosphere it's very special mate.

27 Dec 2016 23:08:49
Gazza - freaky!

Did you put any cash on 4-1?!?

27 Dec 2016 11:07:53
I don't understand the benefit to Liverpool of letting Lucas move to Inter on loan for 6 months, when it's the last 6 months of his contract.
What's in it for Liverpool? His wages off the books? It's Lucas! I'd much rather pay his wages which are not astronomical and have him in the squad. Model professional with still a lot to offer not mentioning experience.
This deal makes no sense.

Believable14 Unbelievable4

27 Dec 2016 12:10:11
His contract expires in 2018 mate.

27 Dec 2016 14:24:28
If Lucas wishes to go, he will go. I don't think Klopp would stop him if he said he wants to go. Because he has been a model professional during his time here, he deserves to decide his own future, if he does not see his future here.

This isn't a prison, and the players are human too.

27 Dec 2016 14:46:48
Lucas should be allowed to do whatever he wants and thinks is best for him and his family, period. He has more than earned that right, don`t you think?

27 Dec 2016 19:31:38
Yup good shoult hamiltonred. Lucas has definitely earned the privilege to have a say in these discussions.

27 Dec 2016 10:11:34
Just wanted to say thank you again to everyone for their comments yesterday. The little man (well I say little, 9lb 10oz has my partner disagreeing! ) is improving. All the breathing apparatus is off and he's just on antibiotics. Mother is now awake and trying to kick start breast feeding. So all looks positive for them to come home this Friday :) in other news, his Grandad has bought him a full kit already for a late Xmas gift! :)

Believable14 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - brilliant news that they are both ok mate. Hopefully you can get them home soon and can begin your new life.}

27 Dec 2016 12:49:50
Good luck and congratulations.

27 Dec 2016 13:06:00
Congrats fella!

27 Dec 2016 13:57:19
Good news and good luck mate!

27 Dec 2016 16:00:35
Congrats buddy, we got a girl due jan 13. can't wait!

27 Dec 2016 16:24:46
Congratulations it's some buzz mate.

27 Dec 2016 18:45:32
Great news about baby Ron 😉

Well done MK 😘.

27 Dec 2016 19:17:05
Great news pal glad there both ok YNWA.

26 Dec 2016 19:20:08
Eds, surely Draxler signing for PSG ends interest in Coutinho from them?

{Ed002's Note - No.}
